- 0:00Speaker 1: Time.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Now we're back to the basics and healthcare with Balanced
- 0:02Speaker 2: Life Chiropractic. We have doctor Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 3: How are you doing, Hey, John, I'm doing great.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I hope the listeners are feeling good after their Fourth
- 0:09Speaker 1: of July weekend.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it was kind of a weird weekend. We had
- 0:12Speaker 2: rain and stuff. And here's the thing, at the end
- 0:14Speaker 2: of the day, I feel very blessed. You know that
- 0:16Speaker 2: the biggest problem we have is we didn't get to
- 0:18Speaker 2: shoot off fireworks when there are people in Texas who
- 0:20Speaker 2: literally had floods like blowing through and taking everything they own,
- 0:24Speaker 2: and so we're very fortunate that our our big problem is, oh,
- 0:27Speaker 2: we didn't get to shoot off some fireworks.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we were.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Talking about that beforehand, and that's kind of what made
- 0:31Speaker 1: me think, like, maybe we should talk about stress today.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Stress.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Who me was? It sounds like you guys tell a
- 0:36Speaker 1: little bit of stress, So let's talk about that.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Because stress there are things that when you're having a
- 0:42Speaker 2: lot of stress in your life, it can affect your health,
- 0:44Speaker 2: can't it.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Right, You know, stress is normal. We're always going to
- 0:47Speaker 3: have stress. It's just it's how we're managing or coping
- 0:50Speaker 3: with our stress.
- 0:51Speaker 1: You know. Basically, stress is our body's response to something.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We either have the fight or flight mode that kicks in.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You know, thing that tiger in the room, run found
- 0:59Speaker 1: or fight. All right, that's like a normal stress response.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We don't have tigers, but we still have stressors and
- 1:05Speaker 1: we still react and still have that same stress response.
- 1:08Speaker 3: The problem is, if we're having that same response.
- 1:11Speaker 1: All day, every day, our adrenalines on overdrive, our drenals
- 1:15Speaker 1: are working way too hard. You might have heard this
- 1:17Speaker 1: thing called a drenal fatigue. Yeah, you know, that's when
- 1:19Speaker 1: we've been in stress mode for way too long and
- 1:22Speaker 1: our body is just getting tired. So if you're in
- 1:25Speaker 1: if you're starting to feel like that, you know, you
- 1:27Speaker 1: don't wait until things start falling apart.
- 1:29Speaker 3: You know, you feel like you're stressed all the time.
- 1:31Speaker 1: You really got to start looking at what can I
- 1:34Speaker 1: do to help alleviate my stress. Is this something that's
- 1:36Speaker 1: gonna be done short term, like oh I just got
- 1:38Speaker 1: to get through this project and we're good. Or is
- 1:40Speaker 1: this like oh, things are just super stress. Well, I
- 1:42Speaker 1: don't know when it's gonna end, you know, is it
- 1:45Speaker 1: gonna be short term or long term? And if it's
- 1:46Speaker 1: gonna be long term putting together some things that are
- 1:49Speaker 1: gonna help with alleviating or at least managing your stress.
- 1:53Speaker 1: We can't get rid of it, it's just how we
- 1:54Speaker 1: respond to that stress that's important.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And part of your body responding to anything is your
- 1:59Speaker 2: body communicating with your body. Because if you've got some
- 2:01Speaker 2: issues that are kind of roadblocks on your little nerves
- 2:04Speaker 2: nervous system going up and down your body. If there's
- 2:07Speaker 2: roadblocks causing problems, that's going to cause issues whether you
- 2:10Speaker 2: have stress or not.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Right, that's not going to help either.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We've talked a lot about the nervous system and how
- 2:14Speaker 1: the nervous system, you know, controls and functions all these
- 2:18Speaker 1: different things in our body, and part of that is
- 2:20Speaker 1: our stress response.
- 2:21Speaker 3: You know, the adrenal system is a hormone system.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Hormone systems are worked, or the nervous system controls all that.
- 2:27Speaker 3: So if we're having a.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Dysfunction between our brain and say our adrenals or the
- 2:32Speaker 1: pituitary gland where those hormones come out, you know, it
- 2:36Speaker 1: makes sense that we're going to have interrational response to
- 2:38Speaker 1: a normal stimulus.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so what is something that the average person can
- 2:43Speaker 2: do if they feel like, hey, I kind of feel
- 2:45Speaker 2: like I'm living that way. First of all, they should
- 2:47Speaker 2: maybe try to adjust that. But what else can they do?
- 2:49Speaker 1: I definitely they always say taking like a break, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 1: going on vacation, even if it's like a day break
- 2:55Speaker 1: or a weekend, you know, taking more time out of
- 2:58Speaker 1: your day to actually sit down and relax and get
- 3:01Speaker 1: away from whatever. That, you know, stressful situation is if
- 3:04Speaker 1: you can. Obviously sometimes you're in it and you can't
- 3:06Speaker 1: get rid of it, but making sure that you're getting
- 3:08Speaker 1: good quality sleep. If you're having a hard time shutting
- 3:11Speaker 1: your brain off, which you know that's some too, like
- 3:13Speaker 1: I just.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Can't get to sleep.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Journaling can help, you know, writing all your problems down
- 3:17Speaker 1: that where you're not just sitting there spinning and thinking
- 3:19Speaker 1: about them, you know, doing something like yoga before bed,
- 3:22Speaker 1: get off social media, stop doom scrolling before you go
- 3:25Speaker 1: to bed, shut the TV off.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You're reading comments height, yeah, exactly, and take If you're
- 3:32Speaker 2: gonna take a trip, go somewhere you know, luxurious, like Fargo, right,
- 3:37Speaker 2: you know, even just love your Fargo, just kidding.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Even just getting out of Seo Falls. We went camping
- 3:41Speaker 3: for the weekend. It's nice. We got out of Sue
- 3:43Speaker 3: Falls for a.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Little bit, and that's the thing, just going somewhere different
- 3:46Speaker 2: and kind of just you know, relaxing and enjoying rather
- 3:48Speaker 2: than being in the hustle and bustle.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Right, change that routine up a little bit. But all
- 3:51Speaker 1: those different things can help. Seeing a chiropractor is a
- 3:54Speaker 1: good way too to help manage your stress. We're gonna
- 3:56Speaker 1: help how your nervous system is responding to your stress.
