  [SPEAKER_00]: J. Sean Barham, a player that has been linked to the Jaguar as prior to today, just by different mock drafts and pundits and such, but two of the biggest names in the NFL draft media world industry, whatever you want to call it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: have mocked, Jason Barham to the Jaguars on day two of the 2026 NFL draft and that is worth mentioning.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That is worth talking about and taking a look at.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Dane Brugler had the Jaguars taking in a seven round mock draft, which we will go over his entire seven round mock draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of interesting tidbits in there, but had the Jaguars taking Jason Barham the edge out of Michigan at 81 overall.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Mel Khyper did a two round mock draft and he had the Jaguar as taking J. Sean Baram at 56 overall, which is where they're currently slated with their first pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One of them is Ed pressure, as they ranked 27th and Sachs last season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Baram is an intriguing player to watch on day two, and he could be a good fit in Jacksonville.

Sean Barnes game and liked him a lot as like a day three, early day three type of guy, as an eddresser, but don't further into exactly what this guy brings to the table because you have two of the biggest draft experts, both mocking him to the same team, and this is not the first time we've seen him mocked by different folks to the jackwars,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Why are people so high on him?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he transferred from Maryland to Michigan a couple years ago.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And his first year at Michigan, he was still playing off ball linebacker, like not saying like three, four outside linebacker, like off ball linebacker, like you know, think, Devon Lloyd, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: He switched to Edge, and he switched to Edge during the season, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're talking about drafting someone to play Edge, he's 22 years old, just turn 22.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have to, and you're thinking about Jason Barham, you have to project, because like, he did not play Edge at all until week three of the 2025 football season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot to unpack there and it's a really fun kind of thought experiment as to what could he be, how what can he unlock all that stuff.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I watched a couple of games in this afternoon really good athlete plays with his hair on fire.

  [SPEAKER_00]: plays with physicality.

  [SPEAKER_00]: To me, those are like James Gladstone always talks about what are your superpowers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, superpowers for him insanely quick off the ball has the ability to burn around the edge.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like he can get around offensive tackles at the top of the arc and he can do it at full speed.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That is no question about it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He can make a lot of splash plays against the run as an edge defender, which part of that is the physicality, part of that is a quickness and just playing with his hair on fire.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Those are the superpowers of J. Shombar in my opinion.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to the question marks, there's a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of question marks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, has not been playing edge very long, less than a full season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But does not have any sort of past-rush plan consistently at this point?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And while I mentioned, he has that physical ability and he brings the physicality and the toughness.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is incredibly inconsistent as a run defender right now, just from a,

  [SPEAKER_00]: technique fundamentals like he's not trying to set the edge very often.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's trying to make splash plays more often than not and that gets him in a lot of trouble.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So when I'm evaluating the tape plus the underlying metrics like true past set, past rush win rate, normal past rush

  [SPEAKER_00]: when you talk about, stop right, tackle for loss rate, those are extremely high, but those playmaking and those big plays he makes against the run, they come with a risk.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's a risk going to reward to it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The risk is he's not playing fundamentally sound football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is shooting gaps.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is playing extremely aggressive.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do think, and you also have to say that, like the guy's 240 pounds, which is extremely light as an edge player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like you think about the edge players, the Jaguars have right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the light is one as Danny Sturgo and he's not a small guy like, so,

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's part of it, but six, three, 240 pounds has 32 and a third's arm, basically which length, I think he has the ability to use his length well, honestly I do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Over 10 inch, 10 and a quarter.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Vertical jump, 33 inches, that's pretty good for his size, not not crazy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The broad was excellent at 1003, the 40-yard dash was excellent at 464.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he 100% has the ability to burn the edge.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The physical ability is there to burn the edge.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The physical ability is there to get into the opposing offensive tackle and just rock them, jolt them backwards.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But there's zero refinement, and really by no fault of his own, there's no refinement.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's literally been playing off-ball linebacker until week three of this season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But just based off the tape, to me, this would be like a early day three guy, which is what I thought coming into the day, but I still feel that way.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Could he potentially be a steal if you got him in the third round?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that if he plays to his ceiling, he becomes a little bit more disciplined and just more disciplined, really, playing the run and develops a little bit of a past rush plan, a little bit of a past rush toolbox.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's ever going to be a true based down run defender, maybe a week

  [SPEAKER_00]: The jaguars don't need that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: What they need is somebody who can heat up the quarterback.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a ton of potential for Jason Barham to be someone that can do that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just kind of think at 56 overall, where Mel Kiper had him, seems early for that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: When I think about some picks, the jacks have made recently, and of course, completely different regime outside of last year's draft class.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think about some of the picks they've made lately where it's like a second rounder that if they hit maybe they end up exceeding that value but they probably won't Mason Smith.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed a little early to me.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange was a reach for a lot of people.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that the physical traits were more robust and obvious and there wasn't clear weaknesses in Britain's strange as game, where they're certainly are.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So to me, the earliest I would start feeling really comfortable with bar room, and look, I trust in the Jaguar's brass.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I would not feel comfortable with it at 56.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That would shock me a little bit, honestly, just because I think there's gonna be better players, players that I think take less outside the box thinking,

  [SPEAKER_00]: But you just take a look at a few of the names that are coming off the board.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, first of all, I think the Jaguars could very easily trade up into the 40s without giving up a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And if you're talking about, like, you're probably given, if you're trading up from 56 to 40, you're probably given up like a fourth round pick or a couple day three picks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Our Mason Thomas is there at 40.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cashless Howell is there, and this is in Melchiper.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cashless Howell is there at 40, and he honestly doesn't get me that juiced up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's been rushing longer than Barham, I don't know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But our Mason Thomas would,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Casey Concepcion was on the board at 42, talk about burning up grass.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that guy looks incredible to me, Chris Johnson available at 43.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Rodriguez available at 46 Anthony Hill at 47 Lee Hunter at 48.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Man, you'll pregnant on at 55, and then the Jaguar is going to Jation Barman.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then after that, trading stukes, who I think the Jaguars don't need a cornerback slash, safety, nickelback slash safety, but easily more projectable to be a very good player without having such downside risk.

  [SPEAKER_00]: edge out of Illinois, who rushes with power, who plays the run, who's a good athlete in his own right.
