- 0:00[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome live to the Big Play Cleveland Show, Jack O'Rourke alongside Chef Sey and Max Loeb.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, how you doing on this blasted Tuesday and Cleveland I am?
- 0:07[SPEAKER_05]: Great.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_05]: They're in a new.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_05]: Better than me, what's that supposed to mean?
- 0:10[SPEAKER_05]: Oh no, exactly what it means, John.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_05]: Is it, uh, Loeb?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to talk first, so.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_05]: You were down, you were done with the game.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_05]: It was electric.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_05]: It was electric.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_05]: It was, it was, it was.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_05]: Six thinnings.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, bad, bad after the six, but I will say the atmosphere was great, just a complete disaster.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, after game one, you had to start quick, yeah, to give the fans something to stay in it.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_03]: And it was awesome.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: The first six innings, right?
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: You score two in the first.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_03]: And you feel like, you know, not have a control of the game, but much more controlled than you've had in the past.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_03]: And then it kind of just all falls apart.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I will say though, a foot away from an electric game title.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_05]: No, absolutely, and I think you're probably a foot away from Brady Montgomery that ball not getting down that kind of blipped over.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_05]: That score those two runs, but no, it's just kind of a joke.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_05]: I'm really upset, guys.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_05]: I got no, there's no nice way to put it right now.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_05]: You're down to O.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about it at length, right?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like every single time you guys were on, like, oh, easiest path you're ever going to have to get into the world series.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_05]: You made your deadline moves that you thought were enough.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_05]: And you're down to O to the white socks at home.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_05]: You had seven hits at home.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_05]: over two games.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_05]: You had the bases loaded twice in game one and didn't score and like I've seen this on the internet.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_05]: It's not an original thought, but we've all had the thought at some point in time.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_05]: They got a kill hashtag guards ball.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_05]: Like a guards ball is board.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_05]: It's demeaning at this point.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_05]: like if you put it up on the scoreboard and it is cool like the oh, guards ball like you exert more effort and you care and you hustle more than anyone else but like at a certain point scoring all of your runs off of loop singles and relying on the other team to like have active god errors every single year like scuba flipping it through his legs like a long snapper and whatever happened last night on that error in the first sitting I think it was Newcomb who was out there when that happened.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_05]: I think they already flipped off of yeah they'd already flipped off of K.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_05]: It's just, it's embarrassing.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_05]: It's never going to change.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_05]: I saw a great stat on Twitter.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_05]: Gabgoud, you put it out there that it's team who is bottom five in the MLB and payroll has not won a world series in the last 30 years.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_05]: We are, we're never, not in the bottom five in payroll.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_05]: Like, yeah, you can say the light sucks, spend less money than us, and they're beating us, and the rays are up 201, the Yankee, whatever.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_05]: People forget, like, you ever watch a money ball, right?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_05]: You guys see money balls?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, you see money ball?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_05]: No, little, you see money ball.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think lose they lose at the end of money ball.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_05]: You know, like it's fun.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_05]: We can we can get these teams that are just good enough when the NFC South excuse me, the AL Central every single year and find your way into one of the last playoff spots.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_05]: And you can go to the world series once every 10 years.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_05]: But you can't cry.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_05]: Portier fans who I believe the last three years were three of the best years for ticket sales and recent memory for the guardians and not spend money in the offseason.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like,
- 2:57[SPEAKER_05]: to go trade it to him to bring him back.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_05]: They haven't, I mean, what was the last time they paid for a hitter?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_05]: Ever.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_05]: You haven't even been in Cleveland yet.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_05]: It was, I would not car Nassione in 2016, three years, 60 million dollars.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_05]: Like, you can't give me the Josh Bell two by 18 Mickey Mouse bullshit.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that doesn't get it done.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_05]: And they did it again.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_05]: you're going to get nothing in the office and so we're just going to do this again after the lockout we're going to sit up here we're going to have a fun regular season and I'm going to get excited again and then the rain clouds are going to come back and we're going to be fucking pissed sitting here because we can't hit knocked over again until my truck comes back and then we'll be all right you need seven mic trucks like that.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry again real quick, but like it's one thing like 2018 you get swept in the ALDS right?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_05]: But it's by the Astros who cheated and they were banging trash cans all series long and they had three All-star border line a couple of Hall of Fame caliber pictures.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_05]: It's the Chicago white socks.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_05]: They suck.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_05]: They want like 83 games this year.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_05]: they lost 90 games last year.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_05]: They are terrible.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like I don't care if they beat the under 500 Astros in the wildcard round.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_05]: Like this isn't the murderer's row Yankees.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_05]: Like you're playing it seem that fricking sucks and you get all you have a seven hits at home.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like you can't tell me that Sean Burke is Roger Clemens and Hagen Smith is Randy Johnson re-encarned.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_05]: Like they're not that good.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_05]: And it's like every single time you get to the same part of the year and everything just
- 4:18[SPEAKER_05]: it's just vanishes like I don't believe it and it's like a serious patient and they pride themselves on not pride themselves and not hitting home runs but like their patient they're going to be disciplined they're going to come up with a clutch moments like the amount of pitches where it was like oh like first pitch out like brutal like swinging in the dirt like Joe Adele great double so get them back in it but up until that point like almost he had the probably.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: the worst at bat through the order the first seven times in the series like it was awful but yeah i mean i saw the status like nineteen or thirty home runs that balls out for show a dollar something like that but that's things it's all and that that's fun until you realize that one of the eleven stadiums it wasn't out and was the one that was playing yeah which is the most the most important one for it i do want to ask you though jack pulling Gavin Williams in the sixth how did you feel about that like did you feel that we're going to let him go that inning until he let up a hit
- 5:05[SPEAKER_05]: No, honestly, like I can't sit here in Monday morning, quarterback, like I would have pulled Gavin Williams exactly when he got pulled.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if Eric's a Braoski is the exact guy you want to go to after he's struggling game one, but also like baseball's a weird sport because you play a best three out of five series that comes after 162 games.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_05]: And if Eric's a Braoski was really solid for 45 of those games,
- 5:31[SPEAKER_05]: who are you to say yeah because he was bad in game one you don't go back to him in game two if he's healthy and ready to go especially if you think he's better than tin hair and or foster grip and or joe you would or whatever other lefty would put out there so i think it's more just that the decisions didn't work but it's also like i can't really blame the on erics of brouse can you if you did give up to earn runs or in the first two games of the series of the bullpen like
- 5:51[SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't matter if you can't hit, you know, like if you're zero runs in game one and you have what was it three hits that four hits last time three runs and Two in the first sitting off an air and you name score against the eighth or brought out of the hole it was like you're not going to win it doesn't matter how good the pitch you can't you can't really blame the pitch.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you think it's done.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'll be asking you don't think it comes back to Cleveland.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_05]: I don't will I will I post on big play Cleveland the second I wake up tomorrow though what do we say to the god of death not today and talk myself all the way into guards in five.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_05]: Do I think for as many lumpy bad moments to get out of tanner by b he's just as likely to have a baker may feel caught out of the doubters like out of nowhere just gonna show up for one game and get done for you that could happen but
- 6:37[SPEAKER_05]: It's just so tough to go on the road and win two and row and then get it back home and win three straight.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's happened like four times.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_05]: I've ever maybe I saw on Twitter yesterday.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_05]: I could be wrong about that.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_05]: But I mean, it's it's as close to chalked as it could be with how literally being chalk.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's fair.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's tough.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's tough.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_03]: I did did just look Saturday would be game five if it did come back here down time.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: Cleveland will be jumping.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know everybody would believe it came back for game five.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, here's the thing.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_05]: If they go up to three nothing in the first inning of game one.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_05]: I'm kind of three.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_05]: I'm all the way back in.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_05]: You know, but it's it's like we talked about last week and say you were like, Jack, you declare this team dad twice a week.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_05]: I do declare this team dad twice week.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_05]: Just this time and might not be a false alarm.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: And this time, if they're dead, there's no coming back.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_05]: No, they're dead, they're dead, they're dead, until after the lockout and that could be it.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_05]: That could be in decades.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_05]: We could be in the dome.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_05]: Probably not.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_05]: It'll be, there'll be, there'll be play based on my name.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_05]: Is there any thoughts from our Cleveland Guardians?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there's no body in this lineup right now that strikes fear into what I'm pulling it.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Jose, brother, I know you kind of injured,
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: what are you doing like we need you like we need some hits a walking on cut it I'm sorry I need to see like
- 7:55[SPEAKER_04]: Like what do you do?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_04]: Do you move them in the rotation?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_04]: Would that help a little bit?
- 7:59[SPEAKER_04]: Like here was my thought.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not a baseball guy.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_04]: So tell me from crazy.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_04]: Tose is not playing the best, right?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_04]: Your bottom half of the order looks like it kind of sucks right now.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_04]: You said Brian Rokio can't find anything.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_04]: I told you we're not here without Rokio.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_04]: Would it be a bad idea?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_04]: If you put Jose in the back half of the order.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think it'd be a bad idea.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not saying Hose is like a big ego guy or anything.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_05]: I just don't think there's a world where they would ever consider hitting him.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_05]: Lower in the line of things.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_05]: Just one of those things where it's like you've earned your stripes over.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_04]: But if you like and I get where you're going.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm looking at it from just like, we need something to happen.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like you.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, the same old mill of the brought cars isn't going to get it done.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: So the way I'm looking at is like, if you could just slot, even if you just replaced them with an annual low spot, you move them into the middle of the order, you give them that just that it's not like we're, you're trying to press his button essentially to just get a reaction like we're not demoting you.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_04]: But we're just going to, you know, you know, you get where I'm trying to, I don't know how put it into words.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_05]: Just a bigger issue is they have, there are nine spots in a batting order every single time we get to October.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_05]: We have at a minimum six guys who can't hit.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_05]: So that just trucks out, 66% of the population and.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_05]: Not that Jose has ended up being a guy typically who carries a team in the playoffs in the past.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like a lot of times he, he rightfully so presses because he kind of knows, hey, I'm the guy who has to get it done.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_05]: I got to make something happen here.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_05]: So you kind of see him leave what regular season Jose does sometimes.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_05]: But like when you're predicated on your best player needing to go on a 2018 LeBron run free to do anything offensively, when that guy's playing.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_05]: But they are I was in general, they are though.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_05]: That's what they're asking quite a Jose by paying him $25 million when they only pay an $80 million overall.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he's getting paid a quarter of the team's money.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_05]: Like they're asking for a herculian effort.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_05]: And it's out of the guy who is at 60% health right now, probably.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_05]: I don't, I'm guessing.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_05]: I don't speculating.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know that.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_05]: But it's that.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_05]: And you're lying on a rookie chase to lottery who had to hit yesterday.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_05]: That was great.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_05]: And Stephen Cuan who had an up and down year.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_05]: And I think he has one hit in the playoffs.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_05]: I could be rather just it's just not enough.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_05]: It's simply not enough.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: I told you I had an analogy for you at the beginning before we walked in as you were sitting in salt over there.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I feel like this team, I saw that someone said that they were trying to show it as a sold-out crowd and it really was it a sold-out crowd this past week.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: It, it looked like it was pretty darn fast last night.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, okay.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: I think I saw the video you're talking about it It looked like it was pretty close to sold out The white so it sucks.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_05]: It means so mad with all the posts on it.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Cleveland fans suck like they cared you and filled their building for the playoffs I was at a Chicago fan who did that who both of that?
- 10:41[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, lots of Chicago fans would also outside the fact that Cleveland out attended them in the regular season.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_05]: There's got to be a better verb for that than that you act.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_05]: No, but out of Texas, definitely the world you're seeing.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_05]: Then, I mean, like if you went to the playoffs more than once every a good Jillian years, your playoff tickets would probably cost less like Cleveland.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 11:01[SPEAKER_05]: throw on that out there.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but you know where I feel like this team is at.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_04]: Remember at the end of the movie elf where Santa Claus is trying to get out of the city and he couldn't get it because he didn't have enough belief.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_04]: I keep trying to tell you got to find your belief.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_04]: Do you almost feel like
- 11:18[SPEAKER_04]: Does the city the city may not feel like it is more, but do you think this team feels like, yeah, we're not going to make it that far anyway, they're kind of like, I won't say waving the white flag, but they know the demise of what's going to happen at the end of the day, do you think that plays a role at all?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_05]: No, I honestly, I don't think the team feels the way the fans do right now.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't think they should.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_05]: They went out one their division this year and fought for the buy in the spot they have.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_05]: But I do think it is tough when, I mean, it's also, it's weird because it is younger groups.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_05]: So it's like, the calves where it's like, oh, wow, we've gone to the playoffs four years in a row with 80% of the same team and done the exact same thing and it's never good.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_05]: Like, this is a younger group.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like, not all these guys have been there before, like, to Lauder, Bazana, some
- 12:00[SPEAKER_05]: more recent playoff experience for them.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_05]: I know it's a lot of second trip now, but Pazana's first.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't think the team feels that way, but as a city, I would I would pray as a front office and ownership group.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_05]: We'd be thinking like, yeah, every single time we get here, we can't hit the fricking baseball.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_05]: We don't spend money.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_05]: That might be the only way to change it at this point in time.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_05]: I have to think.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_04]: I got one more question for you.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_04]: And this one may be a little, do you think the weather has anything to do it?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm just talking about how cold it is.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_04]: Ball doesn't travel as far.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_04]: Could have on the, sorry, the double, the near-home run.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_04]: Like, do you think that when we get, because you always say, whenever we get to this point, that's just seemed to die down.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_04]: Do you think weather could play a factor into that?
- 12:39[SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't say yes, but there's, there's a team outscoring us every night when it happens, too.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so someone else is good.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_05]: Put it down to make it happen to the run.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_04]: They're on the scene runs for you.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, fair.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_05]: You know, like they're playing in the same park.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_05]: We are.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, obviously, the wooden can change throughout the game and stuff, but you don't, you can't control that kind of stuff.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_05]: What we can control is trying to find things in life to be happy about in these dark and desolate towns.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_05]: Great.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_05]: And we get on top of here.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_05]: And we are getting on top of it too.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_05]: Chef says, Cleveland Browns.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_05]: We want to.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_05]: is winning, changing the standard, and Cleveland.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_05]: Let's start on that before we get sued deep into anything.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_05]: I believe it's the first time we've had you on today.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_05]: Since the Thursday night, winning.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_05]: That's your name, right?
- 13:20[SPEAKER_05]: No, I was max.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_05]: A max.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_05]: Whoa, you never want to sound Friday.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_05]: You're around the talk about these browns.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_05]: But in a credible start, three and one coming off a two straight wins at home, heading to Tennessee, then you got ball, or sorry, heading to New York, then you got Baltimore at home, then it's you had two Tennessee.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_05]: So cup winnable games and then the Steelers right for that, who you just proved you could beat on Thursday night.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, our expectations now higher for the browns.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_05]: After starting three and one, are you kind of hanging where you were before the season started?
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think expectations are absolutely higher.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think you could have walked away from these games two and two and three or even three and one and probably had, you know, similar expectations if it was a defensive battle again and you're walking a month through the season.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: There's still questions about quarterback.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't really seem like there's questions or many questions about quarterback right now.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like the expectations are higher because the Sean Watson's play has elevated.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think you can get into semantics on like top 12, top 10, top 5 defense.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think the general consensus was defense was maybe going to take step back but still be pretty good on that side of the ball and it was always going to hinge on the offense.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I think offensively.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_03]: That, honestly, has elevated or helped winning the most, winning is absolutely elevating the standard.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the offense has elevated the floor of this team more than we would have thought walking into the beginning of October.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: I was thinking when we transitioned here too, could you imagine sitting here, beginning of October, MLB playoff starting, and I fell season in full swing that the positive light would be on the ground.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_03]: The negative won't be on the guard.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy to think about that.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the standard is being absolutely raised.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think winning does it.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's also been a project throughout the summer since Todd Munkin has got here, right?
- 15:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's clear to see the different kind of leader he is compared to Kevin's to Fanski and the potential impact that could have on players in the locker room.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like a more close-knit group, and I think a lot of that has to do with some of the older guys, you know, either retireing, getting traded, whatever it may be, in kind of a youth infusion, but Munkin to me is the glue that's held this thing together.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I think he is honestly raising the standard above anything, winning just comes along with that.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, say, you said 10 and 7 before the season.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_05]: So I guess no expectations are being raised for you.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_05]: No, I'm right in line where I need to be.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_04]: Are they hired?
- 15:31[SPEAKER_04]: Are they hired?
- 15:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, are they hired though?
- 15:33[SPEAKER_04]: Are they hired?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_04]: Then 10 and 7.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_04]: No, 10 and 7 will win you the division.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like this year.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like you probably are putting yourself in a good position to make a move at this thing.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_04]: the expectation hasn't even been met to a certain point because I was expecting even more from the offense.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: So like there's still there's still climbing to my expectation.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_04]: That's why he said you're winning these games and he often really hasn't even clicked to its fullest, but not even to the close to its fullest potential.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm right where I need to be, baby.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think is the biggest area of improvement or what are you looking at to get closer to that potential?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: quickly.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: Is it the run game?
- 16:12[SPEAKER_03]: Is it case he accepts you own like there's a couple of things I'm with you.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't know what would or what could be fixed in like say the week or two that would make me believe like they're sealing this way higher than it is.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: Well I think it's just a couple of little obviously the run game is number one offensive line.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: They're playing way better than we assumed that they would.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_04]: And that we even the first couple weeks we said the offensive line wasn't that great yet they're still playing better than what we have thought.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_04]: The offensive line obviously, but I think
- 16:39[SPEAKER_04]: We're really like a few passes away from the offense being at that.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_04]: Like the Harold fan in one that was behind him.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_04]: That's a 30, 40 yard chunk play that we probably missed out on.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_04]: Casey Cassepsiona is probably missed three underneath routes that could have gone for 30 or 40 yards.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_04]: And it's so.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_04]: So you put that to the tally.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_04]: That's another 40 yards.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking about a 300 plus yard offense a game.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_04]: So it's not anything that you have to change drastically.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's just execution at this point.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's fair.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_05]: So when talking about execution with the offense, the Brown said some of the best from the run game and the offensive line last Thursday and the win over the Steelers, let's hear what Todd Munkin had to say about it.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we were able to last night get into a better rhythm and stacking plays, which allows you to be aggressive and try to push the ball down the field.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: Our guys did a really good job in protection.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't have a ton of
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, unblocked pressures, which had been an issue the first three weeks, and you want to quarterback to gain confidence, protect him, run the ball better.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: And you'll start to see that develop.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can't do that, then you won't.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to see a quarterback under the rest that's looking to check the ball down, not keep in his eyes down the field, and it all works together.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_05]: So Max, how much of this do you think is to Sean really really, is about to Sean really progressing versus everyone around the Sean finally making his job easier?
- 18:04[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it's a mix of both.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think in terms of the run game, obviously it was the best it's looked against Pittsburgh, but I don't think it was.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_03]: Good.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like like what you wanted.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_03]: I felt quench on Judgeance honestly made more of an impact through the air.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: Check downs getting extra yards after contact, but I think it honestly It really does hinge on Watson more than anybody else.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think both good and bad and so far it's been overall pretty good.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: We have talked for years about players on the Browns.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_03]: Let's say past couple years, players on the Browns.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_03]: Like we saw it last year with Harold Fan and Jr.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: When he had Jerry Judy, you understood his potential after that Denver game.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_03]: A more recuperate times.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, we have these guys.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: We know there's talent on the perimeter in our past offense.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_03]: We just got to get him the ball.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think we're taking for granted the fact that the Sean Watson is able to get these guys the ball.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of been the thing for the past couple years.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_03]: Granted last year, the receiver room, a lot of questions, but
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: Beyond that it's like we had we feel like we have guys we should get I get them the ball and I think you know to Sean Watson So far this year has done a good job of being able to get them the ball and obviously like Denzel Boston's touchdown against Tampa right That's almost all him that that's a great job of breaking a tackle going the other way case You can see on a lot of what he did last week
- 19:14[SPEAKER_03]: after the catch.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: The big Denzel Boston play last week was a blown coverage.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_03]: There are other factors that come in for Watson, but he's still making the right reads.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_03]: He's making the throws, and ultimately he's getting the balls in the hands of his playmakers, which I think is the most important thing.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: And the playmakers have been awesome.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: So far, especially you know, Harrow fan and juniors have been really good.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't really talked about him much.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: He's getting the ball in the hands of those guys, which that's a credit to him.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's so much easier said than done I don't know Browns fans take it for granted after the past couple years, but it's a lot easier said than done I think at this point.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think the other thing you have to credit that really is kind of going on notice You know everyone always puts this massive microscope under the shine of Watson, but like
- 19:53[SPEAKER_04]: some of those plays that you just called out think about the shan escaping the pocket stepping up in the pocket and delivering or escaping scrambling not looking to run and still looking down feel like those are real things to even if it is a check down I think the shan it goes back to what I said at the beginning of the year when you guys clipped me up and I made the argument for why Todd mucking in this front office staff believed in what the shan watts it can offer and it was because
- 20:20[SPEAKER_04]: Boy is mentally, he's mentally in that, in his bag.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if you were to be in some sort of bag, he's mentally where he wants to be.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_04]: He's never been more freer and clear.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_04]: And it's translating on to the field.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: How many times have we watched DeShan Watson with a similar offensive line look real bad?
- 20:37[SPEAKER_04]: And he couldn't make the play.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_04]: Instead, he was running backwards.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_04]: He was throwing passes behind Elijah Moore.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_04]: He was making the wrong reads.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_04]: None of that is happening this year.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: And that comes from the mental aspect of it.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_04]: So I think there is a lot of credit that needs to go around.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_04]: And to shine Watson is pretty much the main reason why we are 31 right now.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think Munkin has also done a really good job.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: I, you know, from the outside looking and you don't know what somebody's personal relationship is like, but it seems like it's gone very, very well.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's another big aspect of this.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_03]: Watson most fourth quarter scrambly yards in the NFL type of first, third most scrambly yards overall in the NFL.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: He's just getting out of the pocket.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_04]: Who's above him, Allen?
- 21:10[SPEAKER_03]: No, Drake may and Brock, Brock party, he's type of smart jacks on the wall.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_03]: How about Brock Perti?
- 21:15[SPEAKER_05]: Good for heavy MVP.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_05]: Let's hear what a Hall of Famer, Joe Thomas, had to say about the Sean Watson's first after performance against the Steelers.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think when you look at the Sean's first half as a whole, it may have been the best half for football that he's put together in a Cleveland Browns uniform.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're talking about efficient.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Balls coming out on time.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: Decisions are being made properly.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: The football is going to the right dude.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's deciding when to scramble when to get out of the pocket.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: He looked like the Shawn Watson that we saw in Houston the reason that we traded for him in the first place.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_05]: So Joe Thomas some pretty big words saying that the Shawn Watson looked like the Shawn Watson at the Browns traded for from Houston max to you agree with that assessment.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it's fair to ever say like that's used in the Shawn Watson.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_03]: The reality is he's, you know, the play has not been there, but he was also, what was that?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: Five years ago, like five years younger.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_03]: He's dealt with a lot of injuries including multiple Achilles tears.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if it's in there anymore, but he is not wrong, Joe Thomas, and saying that could have very well been the best half of football the first half against Pittsburgh.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: He's put together.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's that one or it's the Ravens.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: Ravens, I guess.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_03]: He played pretty well against ten of the same year, but still it's.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: It's the best we've seen, I think, at least in a stretch of games from Watson in a Browns uniform.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think the comparison's almost unfair to Watson back in Houston, because again, it was five years ago, but if you want to find the closest comparison to Houston Watson, it was that or was the Ravenstaff for sure.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was a really, really good first half.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_04]: If it wasn't as best, it was by far the most confident he's ever looked as a Brown.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sitting front row.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_04]: and all the touchdowns came to me.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_04]: And after every single one, the Sean came over to the sideline.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_04]: It was like cue on Green Bay, where he was hyping up the crowd as of.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, oh my gosh, like we are getting, it's,
- 23:08[SPEAKER_04]: We're gonna have to end up talking about it sooner rather than later, right, because it's inevitable at this point.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's Thanos, but if he continues this play, who's to say we can't make a run?
- 23:19[SPEAKER_04]: Like, he's giving you enough.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_04]: The defense is doing exactly.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_04]: Or everyone says that, oh, the defense is gonna fall off a cliff, really?
- 23:25[SPEAKER_04]: Where defense, Todd Munkin, and the Shao Watson.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: The three reasons why the Browns are winning games, right?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_05]: Can you split that into a pie chart right now, percentage wise?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_04]: I think you have to automatically go 50% to Todd.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: Todd automatically gets a half of the pie because for what he's instilled, the toughness that he instilled, you know, we had that one clip.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_04]: What Kevin's defense he coming in talking about.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we've got to build calluses and all of this stuff.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_04]: Todd really built them calluses this year.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: He really put in work that players were uncomfortable and he put players in uncomfortable setting and he made them buy in and not only did he win them over he earned their respect.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: That goes a long way.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: 50% automatically goes to Todd.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_04]: I think the defense,
- 24:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of a week to week thing.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_04]: Defense probably has a little bit more percentage of the pie.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_04]: I think as a whole you split it right on the half 25 25 25 The Sean Watson has held up his end of the bargain one week when he needed them to and that Tampa Bay game the defense came up to Watson It was like you did your job let us handle it the next week defense didn't look as great Watson handled it I think it's all in the words of Kevin Stephanski a collective unit off his defense special teams
- 24:30[SPEAKER_05]: all your throwing straight at Kevin at the end too.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_05]: Wow, good for you Zay taking all the victory laps in the world.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_05]: You talk a little bit a second and go Zay about what you thought has changed for Deshawn Watson.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_05]: Let's see what Deshawn Watson thinks has changed for Deshawn Watson.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm healthy.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, my mental is straight.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: my emotions is super good, especially I'm in a great space so you know we have all four wheels rolling and now on the right pace you know things can can be able to you know you can be able to improve and show that you know you capable of being that special player that person you are so that's how that's pretty much it.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_04]: Damn, it's funny.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_04]: Sounds like something that just got echoed.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_04]: Not just two seconds ago, but literally all month.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_04]: Where I said, oh, you know, mental's not gonna change the way he plays on the field.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, what are you talking about?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_04]: Is it your delusional?
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: What you got to say now?
- 25:27[SPEAKER_04]: Jack?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_04]: What do I have to say now?
- 25:29[SPEAKER_04]: Do you have anything to say?
- 25:30[SPEAKER_05]: That you're correct about the mental part being the biggest thing to change for it?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: He's healthy.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: Still, what?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_05]: He's healthy.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_04]: This is healthy as a child.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that's what's weird to me though,
- 25:42[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think the legs were there at all before he tore his Achilles twice.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_05]: You know what, like, I better what he looks better than what you're saying.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_05]: That's what I'm saying is like, I don't know how you come back from that and it does look better.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_05]: 99% of people thought he was done.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know, like I think you're acting like I was the only person in the world.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_05]: No, I think it also very well like I don't know three good games.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_05]: Like some incidents being back in the top side and the NFL either.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_04]: When did those words come out of my mouth?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_04]: I said, we're talking about why would the question was, or it was posed as, why would this team, Todd Munkin, and this front office believe that the Sean Watson could have any sort of comeback?
- 26:31[SPEAKER_04]: I gave you the one reason that it could be, and he just told you exactly what I echoed verbatim.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_04]: Not about him being a top 10 quarterback is not him going back to 2020.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_04]: That was what the question was posed as and I was right.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_04]: You were right, did we ever just agree with that?
- 26:48[SPEAKER_04]: No, but you were trying to spin it as if I'm spinning it into something else when that's not what I was doing.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_05]: Well, congratulations on being cracked and I'm going to be correct with the guards too.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_05]: You was a faith keeper.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_05]: So you're saying guards in five now too.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_05]: The guard has never been other than that.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_04]: How do you feel about the brown swing of the division?
- 27:04[SPEAKER_04]: Now you're talking ball.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_04]: Now we're talking ball.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's some things that need to go on our favor.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_04]: Eating first or third is more likely.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, that's a...
- 27:20[SPEAKER_04]: dumbass question asks me, because I want to save.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_04]: I want to be logical in this point.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_04]: But I think 10 and 7 is new in it.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: I do too.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't disagree with 10 wins winning the division.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to come down to tie burgers at that point, but yeah.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_04]: And that's why I think the 10 and 7, like if we're 9 and 8, we could very easily be third at 9 and 8, tied with someone and still make the playoffs.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_04]: So like I don't think it's bad.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, 2023 was the same predicament.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: All everyone went over a 500 out of year, three teams made the playoffs, Steelers didn't.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't, I just thinking out loud.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if nine wins gets you into the playoffs this year.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's fair because of the other ASC side.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_04]: You got seemed like the Raiders looking good.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_04]: Denver, that whole division.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, three teams could probably make it from the playoffs and that division.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_03]: Shoot to, you get to have multiple from the,
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: AFC East as well.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: Bill's Patriots.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_04]: Man, wow.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_04]: It is going to be, do you have to win the division this year?
- 28:10[SPEAKER_04]: Probably.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: Probably.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: Or win 10 games.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think 10 games absolutely.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: But 10 games get you at least tied for a playoff spot.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: I think tie-breakers would be the other factor.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: 9 could.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: But in the AFC North, your best chance is probably just to win the division.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's why it's so fascinating just to a tangent before we keep going.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_03]: Browns get the Ravens in week six, Lamar Jackson.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like an ankle spring said there's an outside chance.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_03]: He plays this coming Sunday against the land.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_03]: If I had to guess, I don't think he's going to because the Ravens and only get the Browns week six, then the Dengals will be seven.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: So that that's a tough stretch.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_03]: And then it's Bill's Jaguars Jaguars on a short week as well.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_03]: We get nine for them.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, it's just something to keep an eye on with Baltimore.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think Cincinnati's been playing some pretty good football, but T-Higgins, Jamar Chase, maybe he missed it this week, probably not a long-term thing, but I'm gonna say first place, Jack, for you.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna say first place, wow.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_04]: The guy I just say here, I thought about it like, for all the reasons why.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_04]: We have not fully clicked on offense yet defense has created turnovers, but we still haven't got home to the quarterback like the pressers, okay, we are.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_05]: Let me ask you guys both a run real quick.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_05]: I'm genuinely curious to hear you guys answers, not not saying the entirety of this era of Cleveland rounds football or the subcoming era, the young guys, simply in the calendar or 2026.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_05]: With the Sean Watson at quarterback, how much higher is this team's offensive ceiling?
- 29:28[SPEAKER_05]: Then what it is right now?
- 29:29[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we'll be seeing through four weeks.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_05]: Say that again, I'm confused.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_05]: With the Sean Watson at quarterback, how much higher is this team ceiling than what they've shown us their capable of through four weeks?
- 29:42[SPEAKER_04]: Max, I would you go first to see what you're gonna understand.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: So you're saying with Watson,
- 29:46[SPEAKER_03]: like Watson long-term.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think the ceiling changes with, are you saying Watson compared to Shidorah Sanders?
- 29:52[SPEAKER_05]: Right, I'm saying just because he is a starting quarterback.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_05]: You can insert, it does, the quiet guest of the quarterback is irrelevant.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, or you want our boy Nick Padoon, where he said, Dylan Gabriel could do the same thing.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_05]: No, that is not where I am going with this.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_05]: I think, oh, really, like when you, I'm saying how much better can this offense get?
- 30:09[SPEAKER_05]: Or is the ceiling not as high for the offense as we all think?
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: That is my question.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: There we go.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_05]: OK, no, the ceiling can get really high.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_05]: Nothing to do with the quarterback.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, no, no, no, silly, you guys.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think it can elevate.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know how much higher can get, though.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we haven't had a run game.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: But yes, but how much better can the passing game get?
- 30:25[SPEAKER_04]: Miles better.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: I just, we literally just... We literally just... We literally just... Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_04]: We are literally five, let's just say we're five plays away from blowing teams out.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_04]: Casey accepts your own.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_04]: He missed multiple, if he didn't miss a touchdown, he missed two big chunk plays in one game.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_04]: That's just in one game.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_04]: Harold Fanon, that literally seals the deal for you, probably score again.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_04]: That's 14, 21 points right there.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, like, we are literally my new things away from talking about this offense being high powered.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_04]: No, without a run game.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: So you I think in order for this offense to become high powered it is a willingness to push the ball down field, which I don't think like what it's not like watching can't do it that's not what I'm saying that that is not a part of the offense so far through four weeks really it was a busted coverage of Denzel Boston and then a shot to just two Denzel Boston again that was tipped PI brutal like I'm I'm not going to blame to shot walls too much for that one, but
- 31:25[SPEAKER_03]: that plus a run game can absolutely elevate the offense.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_03]: That is so much easier said than done.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: Number one, because I do think there's a reason the Browns run game has not been great to start the year.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: First two games against good run defenses.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_03]: Pittsburgh and Caroline has run defenses not been great to start the year.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's the reality of it.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_03]: And Derek Harman got hurt last week as well.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 31:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's more reason to believe in the run game, but I don't know how much higher that ceiling can get, and then you have to happen where the offense also has to figure it out everybody in the past game at the same time.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's also got to stay healthy while that's going on.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: Health is.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_03]: We'd be fooling ourselves if we said the past catcher depth was good.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 32:02[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_04]: Because I think past got your depth is cool.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_05]: Like you were who was Widersy for five on the Cleveland Browns.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_05]: You guys are wild on Jerry Judy.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_04]: You're not going five.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you don't damn well on the last person ever be out on Jerry Judy.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not out on Jerry Judy.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, not you.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm saying, majority 90% of my hands up still.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_05]: I'm out on Jerry Judy.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_05]: You don't win that game without Jerry Judy.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_05]: That is true.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_05]: That is true.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_05]: Like are receiving, are there other receivers who make 16 million a year who could have free hatches?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: We had one of the deepest receiving cores in a league.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_04]: Am I kidding you?
- 32:31[SPEAKER_05]: Deepest in the lead production may not be there.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_04]: They have production may not be there.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_04]: That's what we can rely on, but that's the beauty of it.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_04]: We don't need to go to four in five receivers.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: Because we're running to our so damn good.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly, and that's all well and good.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: Like what injury injuries, it's a violent game.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: Like that happens.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm saying.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: And now a lot on that day of bond isn't good.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: I'm blown away.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_04]: Holy fuck.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_05]: That's his different.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_05]: That's all.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_05]: He's not a good third receiver.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_05]: Are we drunk?
- 33:00[SPEAKER_05]: Who?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_05]: Who?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_05]: Who's after it?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_05]: Malachi, Corly and Tyler Wallace.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's the worst five and six in the league.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_04]: I'll talk about things.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_04]: The six receivers right now.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: We're talking about Shidorah Sanders headlines and fifth and sixth receivers.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_04]: And we're three and fucking one in the AFC North right now.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_03]: Are we fucking serious?
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: That is not.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_03]: We're not talking about fifth and sixth.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about Denzel Boston.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: This Uber talented big body outside guy.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_03]: God forbid if anything were to happen.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's a prototype on the Browns.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_03]: I can step in and offer what he does.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you take Justin Jefferson CD lamb George pick you go through anyone's one or two and then be like damn You got to put this number three number one.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_04]: They're not gonna equal up to but what are we talking about?
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: I agree I agree with you.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: What we're saying is a lot has to go right for this to continue to go up
- 33:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think it is a lot easier said than done looking at the potential opponents to Browns to be playing in the next month, a lot has to go right for the ceiling to be as high as it is.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: And I think a part of that is absolutely the Brown's death because I don't think on the defense side of the ball.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_03]: On the off, I'm talking offensive specifically, right?
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: I personally don't think there is a receiver with the talent of Denzel Boston beneath him.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think so.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I honestly think the gap, you know, you talk about other guys like that, the cowboys, let's say the Vikings, whoever, like the talented big body outside guys, like I think there is number two who can step in and do say 70% of that.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if we can confidently sit here and say that the Brown's receiver depth could step in and do that.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking beneath the top two guys and there's a reason they're coming out in as much 12 person.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: They are.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_03]: They're using more fullbacks.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they fully believe in the receiver depth.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a knock on how good the Brown's offense is.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a knock on where they're at and the standings, how good this team is.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_03]: I am just saying that is a variable that could absolutely be in play as the season goes on.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_03]: I also think.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns would not be in the conversation for potentially trading for Marvin Harris Jr. if we truly felt like that receiver room was.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: Good and give me the deep.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_04]: We're like, so what's a deep receiving room then?
- 35:02[SPEAKER_04]: Because I'm like, I'm so genuinely confused.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's one and two.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_04]: That's what you need to worry about when you talk about it.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_04]: What who has the deep receive when you talk about deep receiver rosers?
- 35:09[SPEAKER_04]: But I think, give me him.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_04]: I think the words.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no, we're not going away from that.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_04]: Give me the receiving room that are deep.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_04]: 60 seconds.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's what I'm not talking to the receiver rooms.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: Drake London, Falcons, Panthers, Raiders, Rams maybe.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_04]: You can maybe go Rams, Bengals.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_04]: It's T-Higgins and Jamar.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_04]: Jackson and Smith and the Jigma, who the fuck is there after that?
- 35:29[SPEAKER_04]: See you, Laman George Cuckoo.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's one team, the Rams.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_03]: The Rams, the Seahawks, I think, obviously the Niners are not.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_04]: Seahawks are receipts to see, receipts to heady at one catch for 20 fucking yards this past week.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_04]: What, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what,
- 35:57[SPEAKER_03]: Who's there?
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: Who's there?
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: Number one, DJ Moore, Kionk Chagar's guy.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: Kionk Coleman, the guy that was brought to get ran out of the fucking league last year.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: Kionk Coleman has, okay.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: Let me read you, who, Kionk Coleman has more yards than.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_04]: I just want to know what the deep rosters are.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, that's what I'm pointing out right now.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think the Patriots when they're healthy have a deep wide receiver room.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_03]: I think the buffalo bills do.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: Jets, if they're healthy, sure.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: I know.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: AD Mitchell Omar Cooper Jr.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_03]: They have Kenyan City was a tough rookie.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_03]: Omar Cooper Jr. We have two rookies on the Browns.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_03]: My point, we're getting into some of your games.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_04]: But you're getting where I'm going with you.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_04]: You guys aren't naming anything.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_04]: That's like, oh my God, they're striking fear in me.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_04]: The Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_04]: They probably are up there.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'll give them that.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, they're better for sure.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_03]: The Houston Texans.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_03]: When healthy I can see it I think they are right now again.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, not right now.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: Nico Collins, that's it.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: Who the fuck is after that?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: Xavier Hutchinson, K. Sean Boody, and then if tank del comes back we're talking we're talking death my point.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_04]: They're not better than the Browns.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like I've been doing it like it.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_04]: Where are we?
- 37:00[SPEAKER_05]: No, I think there's a point we're deferring on.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_05]: I think if you're saying like where are the Browns top two guys in relation to everyone else's top two guys?
- 37:07[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think we're saying there is low.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_05]: I think just like when I think of depth like I'm thinking of like one to six.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_05]: How good do you feel about your room if two guys go down or if this happens or that happens?
- 37:18[SPEAKER_04]: like I think if you're going off of do the Browns have like starting wider severs that are at that caliber I think we're talking about hypotheticals that don't even fucking you ask you ask you ask you ask because you guys said or I receive a room isn't deep this is the deepest right receiver when we've had in existence but that doesn't and there's no way I would take Jarvis O'Dell Hollywood to catch the shit out of that
- 37:44[SPEAKER_04]: Well, this isn't about the fast kids about the players and right no other there's not many receiver rooms that are deeper than the Browns You guys are so down on Jerry Judy that you're looking at him.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_04]: He is he could easily be a wide receiver to on majority of these teams and he could be a wide receiver One on some of them as well not a lot, but like I just three deep that you could have a wide receiver one.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: What are we talking about?
- 38:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's prototypical builds on the Cleveland Browns that could step in and produce, let's say, 70% of what the top two guys can be.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_03]: And that is, again, it's a hypothetical.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_04]: Jerry Judy put up 12 million dollars as a Brown three years ago.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's a hypothetical.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't matter.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_03]: You're 100% right.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_03]: But if we're talking about how the offense can elevate, a lot has to go right.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: And that has been going right.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: So far to start the season.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_04]: I try wrong players and you already hear first on the play sports.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_04]: We're not deep at the receiver rule.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_04]: So keep put that on the bulletin board because I just I want people to remember that when I say a bon get his breakout games Jerry Judy goes for a hundred yards We'll be four receivers deep, but somehow five and six is gonna be the reason why we're not fucking need you know what if if I say a bon and Jerry Judy Produce like that I will come on here and say I was wrong absolutely, but so far the see and I know I'm a huge Jerry Judy guy
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: There has not been a ton of reason to fully believe that partially has to do with how good Denzel Boston in case he can set up his own spin that there are guys that can immediately step in and be that that judge you hadn't had you just said he had no catches and he comes in the fourth quarter of a AFC North game on primetime it makes two of the biggest catches the game you don't win
- 39:16[SPEAKER_04]: That's coming in when you just said you you don't have receivers.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_04]: I can come in Jerry Judy came in when I'll getting any Licks throughout the first four weeks of the year and stepped in and made a play.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_04]: That's deep You're third receiver just made the two biggest plays of the game on Thursday night football That's deep that that's deep.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_04]: That's also guys making 18 million has five catches and four weeks
- 39:38[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I get where you're saying about the death with Jerry Judy being the third.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I love Jerry Judy as a third receiver.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know me, I'm the last guy who'd ever be out on Jerry Judy.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's a ton of talent.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm saying, Casey conception brings a very, very unique skill set, as well as how good he is as a player.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_03]: Denzel Boston physically, they're...
- 39:59[SPEAKER_03]: There is nobody else on the Browns like him.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: Those are big shoes to fill not only with talent, but how they are built, their athletic prototype.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_03]: That is what I am worried about.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: The talent?
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, like you can argue, I don't know, the third of the teams in the NFL, right?
- 40:15[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe they have deeper receiver rooms in terms of overall talent.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_03]: The pro-do types, I think, is where the biggest potential
- 40:24[SPEAKER_03]: not actual potential issue could arise.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_03]: And if we're getting back on what we were just talking about the ceiling of the offense, bottom line, I think if we want to get to, let's just say, a top 10 offense or however high we think the ceiling of this offense can be, a lot has to go right.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: And it's been going right to start the season and the trajectory very much.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_03]: The arrows going like this or trajectories going like this, absolutely.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: And that's not what any of us are saying that it's not, but there has to continue to
- 40:54[SPEAKER_03]: at least.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think it is.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_05]: So let's talk about another talking point on the quarterbacks.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_05]: Zay, don't kill anyone.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_05]: Let's hear the full question first.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_05]: Don't throw any stones in my direction.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_05]: Does the way the Browns are winning so far and getting some production out of the Sean Watson?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_05]: Make sure doorstanders more valuable as insurance where you're like, hey, let's keep the sky around in case the Sean goes down or if his play starts to decrease because you have a winning season right now, or are you feeling more like, okay, we got a guy who can go on win us games.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_05]: I'm fine when trading him.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_05]: I think Dylan Gabriel or Taylor and Green could be the backup.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: trade every fucking body.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_04]: We don't have enough depth shit.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_04]: You might as well they'll get somebody deep to put in that rye receiver room right at this point.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think insurance policy matters more if you're winning football games for sure.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you watch like the New York Giants just lost their starting quarterback week one and we start week two and they're one and one with an easier schedule and they went out and used a resource to bring in JJ McCarthy like the reality with the NFL is it's very much a season by season thing.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_03]: So if you have the depth if you have the the ability to continue to feel like you can win games with your backup quarterback
- 42:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know, just trade your back up quarterback way.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think trading should or Sanders by any means would be the right move at this point in time, especially honestly, especially like, let's say Brown split, let's say they beat the Jetsco Ravens.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're four and two a third of the way through the season, like you are setting yourself up here for maybe you're on the division, run the wild car, whatever it may be.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: I think trading away.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: Your quarterback insurance, especially when I feel like the prototypical build in that offense should door into Sean can offer similar things I don't think you move off of your insurance if you keep winning games by any means
- 42:33[SPEAKER_05]: So do you guys think that it's more likely that Dylan gets cut or tailing green gets moved to the practice squad.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_05]: That's a great question.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_05]: That's because when we have to know that this week, we'll not fear radically because they could keep for quarterbacks, but yes, they could keep for quarterbacks.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think the more likely outcome is probably tailing green, but at the same time you put them to the practice squad you were on the risk of somebody and there would probably be somebody out there.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's natural.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: adding him, right?
- 42:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like I just said in New York Giants, but they probably believe he's an upgrade as their third guy over Jake Hanner, like maybe they do it.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's probably the more likely option, especially because the Browns probably believe in Deshawn and Shador as the backup moving forward.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: But again, what's the cost and doing that with Dylan Gabriel?
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: It was a different coaching staff that was there when you drafted him.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_03]: So, I don't, I think to maybe try to trade one of them.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it should or Sanders, but I think it's probably a trade before it's a pure cut.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_03]: They're probably working the phones as we find, I guess.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_05]: Zayne, before we flip to the defense, what do you think happens with musical chairs for the last quarterbacks, Bob?
- 43:30[SPEAKER_04]: I couldn't fucking carry less.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_04]: The Sean Watts is giving you one or three a one.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_04]: This shit is irrelevant to me.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to be honest with you.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_04]: Sounds good.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, let's do that too.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's a fair question.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: No, a decision does.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_03]: I believe have to be made this week and I don't well I cut Dylan.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think obvious.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_04]: I mean honestly do they like what Dylan has to offer more I think it is a little bit weird that Dylan went to the IR.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_04]: There's something there that they like Because if they didn't they would have just cut his ass at the end of training for tailoring green for for year, right?
- 44:02[SPEAKER_04]: Or for anything that matter like somebody wouldn't have made it
- 44:05[SPEAKER_04]: if Dylan or if they didn't like what Dylan had to offer there was a reason why they went that route to put his ass on the eye or whether it's a trade or they actually like him to be the backup like it is what it is but at this point like we talking back us all right we got jets this fucking week we like we should be talking about division I just understand why we're harping on a backup quarterback right now.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly think it says a lot about the state of the Cleveland Browns that we are.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think the fact that the Browns are three and one and we're talking about backups we're getting into semantics with small things.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not like this would be bad.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_03]: That is a very, yeah, it's just a very, it's a positive thing.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think, and again, I think three and one, if you would have told any of us three and one against the New York Jets walking into week five, we all would have been excited about it.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: We always say, I told y'all, y'all, that's a real chance that you could move to four and one and play the Ravens in a big game at home, maybe both teams, four and one, right?
- 44:57[SPEAKER_03]: it speaks to where the Browns are at offensively and honestly defensively we haven't talked about the defense and the depth along the defensive line either because that's pretty darn good too.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_05]: That is where we are heading next before we get Max and Zays thoughts on Jared verse and the defensive line.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_05]: Let's hear what Joe Thomas had to say about Jared verse not having any sex through four games.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to talk a little bit about like Jared versus not getting a lot of sacks and of course everyone's like well miles had all these sacks and we think Jared's replacing him in that position but like his role and our defense is different because we're playing team defense now we're moving guys around and everybody has a different role so your role always is not as a defensive line and like hey go get a sack at all costs.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, a lot of times it's like, hey, collapse this side of the pocket.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a stunt going on over here.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to try to force the quarterback out of the pocket.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: Two is non-throwing arm.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: So now he's got a hard time if he's escaping to his left.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's a right hand quarterback to throw in a lot of different areas of the field.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: We may be rotating coverage so that we know it's going to be tougher for him to get the football over there.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to be a little lighter in coverage there.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be heavy over here.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's how the Russian coverage works together.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: And that team defense is really the best defense, right?
- 46:07[SPEAKER_05]: Max 12 team sex through four games coming out to three a week.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_05]: Are you at all worried that your universe doesn't have anything in the set call?
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: No, because I think sacks can sometimes be a misleading set.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think you can look at, you know, some miles Garrett's last year when there's these superhuman moves and getting off the line like he does and you say, wow, like he affected the play.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_03]: But I also think, you know, you can argue that eating a double team is as important.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: So a guy like Mason Graham can get a sack or affecting a quarterback pressuring a quarterback like the interception that Aaron Rogers
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: through to Denzel Ward.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not mistaken.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_03]: There was somebody in his face, but like that can affect a throw that can affect the football.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's a lot.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_03]: Sacks I think can be a misleading sad.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: I believe that it was Joe Burrow actually that said it most overrated or misconstrued.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: That I can't remember the exact word was stats or sacks excuse me.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_03]: So I think sacks can kind of be misconstrued and honestly like I'm not.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_03]: wildly worried about Jared versus especially if you're going to keep sliding to him and double teaming whatever it may be it's going to open up things for other guys and I think that very much has been the case and you can see like a hunting tin guys like I say I'm a choir obviously my call and Mason Graham those guys have really stepped up and I think that's a testament to the defensive line as a whole the depth of the defensive line but also the impact that Jared verse has because you know Miles Garrett had a similar impact and that teams would slide to him
- 47:27[SPEAKER_03]: similar, I'd say approach to Jared verse, probably not the same, but it still opens and things up for other guys.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I like what Jared verse has done, and I also think there's an aspect of his just demeanor and who he is on the Cleveland Browns that goes beyond on field production.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like we talked about this all season about him being a different kind of leader compared to Miles Garrett, whatever it may be.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: That to me, that's that's clearly felt.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_05]: I would even say last night too, and he delivered the game ball at the guard's game.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_05]: Like it wasn't quite like I'm not trying to sit here and say it was like when the Brown and J.R. were on the field in 2016, getting everyone going before the world series.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_05]: But it was damn like he definitely went out of his way where it wasn't like just a, oh, like, hey, Cleveland would stop.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like he walked around for a good couple of minutes, just like trying to get the crowd going.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_05]: He seems like he definitely does love Cleveland.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, say are you feeling nice to you about the D-line?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_04]: They're right where I thought they'd be, honestly, in terms of not falling off a cliff.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, every one thought that this defensive line was gonna go to fall off a cliff.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_04]: Eight players have had sex on this Cleveland bronze team.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_04]: You've got two of them that are safety's Ronnie Hickman and Grant Delpip, each have a sec.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_04]: Mason obviously has four of them.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_04]: Isaiah McGuire, a player who we were all hoping to take that next step, has two of those sex.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_04]: One of them came against the big and the big Thursday night game.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_04]: Malik Collins has won and Mike Hall has won and and what we thought was going to be him be out and after an injury.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_04]: So I think this just goes to We're in the EAM of the things instead of the eye awards like
- 48:58[SPEAKER_04]: it's not defensive player of the year.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's best defensive line in the league.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 49:02[SPEAKER_04]: Like we're not just highlighting one guy.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: You're highlighting an entire group of men.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_04]: And I think when you mix guys like Quincy Williams, I think Quincy Williams is the unsung hero and a lot of this stuff in terms of
- 49:15[SPEAKER_04]: his energy like we talk about Jared versus impact in his leadership and all of this stuff Quincy Williams is the heat-sicking missile that we've been missing since J.O.K.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_04]: has gone out how many holes have he's blown up how many times have we seen him freaking Mario uppercut the sky like that is causing an effect on the game and when you see defensive players doing that like you say man we're not barking no more we're biting everyone always knows what was miles gear he's gonna get his sex like that's a lot of bark miles did the biting
- 49:42[SPEAKER_04]: Quincy's doing the biting.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_04]: Carson's doing the biting.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_04]: Grants doing the biting.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_04]: All of the dogs are getting a piece of the pie.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: So I would trade this for 23 sacks every day of the week.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_05]: Say, let's start with the owner loop it back to Max after, because we already talked about this for a brief minute on Friday.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_05]: Should I want to get saves?
- 49:57[SPEAKER_05]: Thoughts on it.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like if there's going to be a chunk in the armor of the secondary at some point throughout this season, it might come in the form of what's going on in the slot at corner back.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_05]: Who do you ultimately expect to take over that roll for the Browns?
- 50:11[SPEAKER_04]: in the slot, you said, yeah, on defense, um, honestly, I would really like, I like when they go three safety's.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_04]: I like when they have a manual, a McNeil grant and Ronnie Hickman on there.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: It almost reminds me of when Jim Schwartz wanted to have new some Emerson and Denzel on the field at the same time.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, new some was better outside, but Jim knew that when all three of them were on the field at the same time that they were better as a unit.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_04]: I tell you, I say at every time we talk about Miles Harden, I love the guy's grit.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_04]: I think he is a great backup in this league.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_04]: You know if you can go, like if a guy goes down and you know you need a backup to come in a step, Miles Harden would probably be very high up on that list in terms of anyone in the NFL in terms of the backup.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_04]: but you've got playmakers at that safety position.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_04]: And if it may, you won't make no can fly around the way that he's flying around hell.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_04]: I went mind seeing him slide up in that nickel spot and maybe taking it over.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_04]: But I think it's mild spots to lose.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think anyone's going to come and take it.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_04]: I think miles does a damn good job.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_04]: And as long as he doesn't have to be a every snap starter, I'm fine with him being there.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_05]: Well, this could be a crazy thought just spitball.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_05]: And as they were telling me Jack, we got a trade for some more depth.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_05]: We need some more depth on the Cleveland Browns, right?
- 51:23[SPEAKER_05]: Is the resistance to Browns do it at cornerback?
- 51:26[SPEAKER_05]: Oh.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think there could be a chance.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think they are more going to experiment with different things beforehand.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_03]: I'm with you.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think the three safety packages really fun.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the reality now is because of how well a manual Neil Warren played in week four, you probably just can't take that guy off the field.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: Like he's too big of a playmaker.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think he fit in perfectly.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_03]: with the game plan.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I also think it'll be a pretty similar game plan to the jets where it's kind of like, hey, you know, keep Juneau in the pocket.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if Eddie Mitchell's going to play, but put Denzel Ward with Garrett Wilson and, you know, leave your number two, Tyson Campbell on the other side and hope he wins and he didn't.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_03]: For the most part outside of that last drive against Pittsburgh, but I think he's playing, uh,
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: Emmanuel McNill Warren, well enough that you can't really take him off the field.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_03]: You still got to experiment, they won't take Grant Delpit off.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_03]: Grant Delpit, it's been unbelievable.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: So it's more like, hey, can you have Ronnie Hickman here?
- 52:16[SPEAKER_03]: Can you have Miles Harden in these situations?
- 52:18[SPEAKER_03]: It is interesting to note, I'm going to pull up the number here, but more than 200 yards, the Browns have allowed on their own through the air if come against Miles Harden.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_03]: Not good.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's almost too full yards a snap.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like that the numbers don't support it.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's clear to see he plays so hard.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I also think there is a play in the Panthers game where he blitzed off the edge.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_03]: And miss the sack.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but like he is extremely athletic.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: He's gone great.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_03]: I discipline like he can I just pull off a line of scrimmage.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_03]: He can provide that for you whereas like can Ronnie Hickman fly off the edge like that I don't know.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I think he offers that Ronnie or that Miles Harden Canyon manual of Neil that is Think about some of them past afflictions in the fourth quarter against big guys like they don't have to pick in the first quarter
- 52:59[SPEAKER_04]: They got a tight end and said, Dico over there, who's been making some plays.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if there's a guy who you want, I don't want Miles Harden on him.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_04]: I want to make Neil on that guy.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_04]: Like, this is going to be one of those things.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_04]: Where I just think he offers that certain type of physicality that you can't replicate and apply.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_05]: And Max, before we get you on out of here for the day, let's talk a little bit about that chat game coming forward.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_05]: Now, because it feels like the longest break in the world after playing on Thursday football, but it is a Cleveland Browns football game, make the guards kind of mushed up everything in the middle there, at least, at least they did.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe not anymore.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_05]: What are your two?
- 53:31[SPEAKER_05]: Give me one on offense, one on defense, key to the game for the Browns against the chats.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think when the Browns are on the offensive side of the ball, it's a really, really different team.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_03]: really then what they've seen like the jets the jets are going to play man coverage but when they get out of it it's going to be a lot of like cover four middle field open that's a really unique combo in general but the browns really haven't seen it so far so i think it's adapting to a new game plan taking whatever man matchups you like i love then sell Boston on the outside against these jets corners i think the jets are much better defensively between the hashes keep it away from a lot of the guys in the safety room in the
- 54:12[SPEAKER_03]: cautious with keeping the ball or cautious with pressing the middle of the field against that team.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but I think on the outside, the Browns take advantage.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's this is another Denzel Boston game where if he gets his one on one, he's going to do a nice job.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_03]: I always think eliminating David Bailey is going to be really important.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_03]: David Bailey is a game record.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_03]: He's been pretty solid to start the year.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: So offensively, keep Watson upright and allowing him to spray the ball out wide defensively, I'm not going to give you a cop out.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, but there are a lot of
- 54:40[SPEAKER_03]: 80 Mitchell may not play so there there are some serious injury questions about the jets that you know it it seems like staring in the face yes stop Garrett Wilson make everybody else beach at which you know you hope Denzel Ward will travel but
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't really with DK Metcalf and I thought the Steelers took advantage when Metcalf was on Tyson Campbell.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_03]: So for me, it's, it's everybody outside of Denzel Ward in the secondary, keep winning your one-on-ones.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_03]: And I think they've done a really good job at that after week one, because they barely played any man and provided one-on-ones in week one.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I think they've done a really good job.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we've been fooling ourselves if we looked at, you know, the Steelers, I think the Steelers probably have better pass offense than the Jets right now, right?
- 55:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think Tampa with Baker probably, right?
- 55:22[SPEAKER_03]: Probably had a better offense.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think Caroline absolutely did.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I think continuing to win your one on one's outside of Denzel Ward, probably the biggest.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_05]: So let me ask you this then.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_05]: A couple of hospital injuries, the New York Juts are not off to the heart, the hottest start of all time this season.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_05]: The Browns are dogs right now on the road.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_05]: What do you think the reason is for that that Vegas does not favor Cleveland?
- 55:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's almost like a trap.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think that could be part of it, too.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_03]: I also think that it's like, the Browns are three and one.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like, outside looking in like, all right, eventually.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_03]: One of them going to come back down to Earth.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_03]: Is it on the road against the jet's team?
- 55:58[SPEAKER_03]: Like, everything right now points to the Browns.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_03]: It's off a mini by their red hot, the jet's are beat up.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_03]: They just scored 12 points against the bears.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like, everything points to the Browns.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, maybe it is a trap, but I also do think like the Jets offense with Breeze Hall with 80 Mitchell.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_03]: We've seen it twice and one of them was week one against, you know, a Titans team that isn't great, but week two against the...
- 56:23[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, I'm getting my weeks mixed up regardless week two against Green Bay, I believe it was like they played pretty well against the Packers team that was much healthier than that it is now, but I think the jet's offense provides Problems in the the unique players that are on it and maybe they're leaning into that again don't know Bree's Hall status 80 Mitchell is a receiver dealing with a finger injury, so that's an issue already Kenyan City because the guy I'd be watching whether it's Delpit, Hickman, and manual make no more probably a combo of guys honestly
- 56:49[SPEAKER_03]: That I think it is the biggest fat crowdside award, but I think the reasoning could be it's like almost the opposite of what I sat here What we kind of sat here after the Jaguar's game against Tampa and we're like, well, I mean any any given Sunday like any any time you step on the field The lock can happen different things can go wrong like maybe they're thinking that and I hate to even say that for the jets Because I think they're headed in the right direction.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think the Aaron Glenn's doing a really nice job, but it's hard to believe that they have true
- 57:18[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I'll give you my thoughts since you were going to gloss over my key to victory.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_05]: This is a, well, I was going to, we're going to wait two years next second.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: This is a simple one.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_04]: This is a simple one, honestly.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_04]: This is one of those things where it's like, you had it.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_04]: You had the, this is the next test.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: Week two, you had it.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_04]: It was the good teams find a way to win that game.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: You did.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: Week three, divisional opponent, on Thursday night prime time, the good teams win that game.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: This is the next step in line where the good teams,
- 57:43[SPEAKER_04]: handle business against a one in three judge team that has no business being in your ballpark.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_04]: This is a classic browns can't beat the browns.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure that's going to come up with a lot in Todd Munkins press conference today.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_04]: If we're as good as we think we are, if we're three and one, they don't have a business being on the same field as us this week.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_04]: That's what the mentality needs to be.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_04]: That's what the mindset needs to be.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_04]: All this excess is an old stuff.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's any given Sunday when it's all said and done.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_04]: If you are the real deal,
- 58:08[SPEAKER_04]: Brown should be coming out of Victoria this week and we should be like damn they really just put belted Oh, it's just the judge.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_04]: That's what we should be hearing next week.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you put belt to the judge.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see you.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see you again against the Ravens.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_05]: Let's do so say we will include you on the score friction this time.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_05]: We're not going to say you're for the next segment.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_05]: I apologize for offending you.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_05]: Max you want to go first then say all around it off Brown's judge score prediction.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously there are a couple of asterics knowing that we don't totally know who's playing for the judge.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go 20 to 16 Browns.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, I'll still love you.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_05]: So, were you assuming that the weapons would or would not play for the jets in that scenario?
- 58:46[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't know what the deal with 80 Mitchell is.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_03]: Breeze Hall, if I had to guess right now, probably, but I don't know.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'll assume Hall, yes, 80 Mitchell, no, obviously.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_03]: Like a flip flop could be either or, but...
- 58:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, obviously it matters, it definitely matters, but I think the thing that's going to win the game for the Browns is how they play defense.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I think defensively collectively, they're a better unit than the jets are offensively collectively, even with all those guys.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: So 20 to 16.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_04]: Chef, say, 30 ball on a hit top this week.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_04]: Run game gets going, it makes all the sense in a world.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_04]: I think this is a perfect
- 59:20[SPEAKER_04]: beat the shit out of a team before the because we know what the storylines gonna be after that old bald Todd Munkin Baltimore first opponent can he replicate what he did these past few weeks and then that's when the dogfight will come in 17 points 18 whatever the case may be but this has if again I'm going with my what I just said two seconds ago if this team is legit if I think this is where they are the three on record we should hang a 30 ball on them
- 59:44[SPEAKER_04]: And honestly, you should be one of those like 30, 13, 30, 17.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_04]: You get a garbage time touchdown.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_04]: Hell, even 30, 21 type of deal.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_04]: Browns should conventionally win this game.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_04]: 30, the 20, we'll go.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'll give him a little res for a little 30, 17.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_05]: See, like, I kind of don't want to pick the Browns, because every time I pick them to win, they lose.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_05]: And every time I pick them to lose, they win.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_04]: They don't mess up.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_05]: That is what John Moran said so eloquently before he proceeded to blow the Western Conference and never be heard from again So that quote didn't turn out great for him, but regardless, I'm gonna go 23 to three Browns I think it's a 20, yeah, I'm gonna give the Browns a 20, but how about that?
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_05]: Wow, 20 like that.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_05]: Three 23 and three.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_05]: No, and now we're friends again
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_05]: So make sure you don't go anywhere because Chefsley and I are going to be friends and Phil Taylor's going to join us to talk some Cleveland Browns with first.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_05]: We guys tell you guys about our friends at the third estimate.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_05]: Got a room in your house that's warmer in the summer and colder in the winter.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_05]: Currents that move even when the windows are shut.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_05]: It's not haunted.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's just drafty.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate will do a free window inspection, show you exactly where outside air is getting in and give you a red and price that's good for six months with absolutely no pressure.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_05]: Book your free window inspection at the thirdestment.com or call get ready for this one max.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_05]: Call 1, 2, 3, 4 windows.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_05]: 1, 2, 3, 4 windows.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_05]: Small enough to listen and big enough to deliver.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome back live on the Big Play Cleveland Show talking about the 3-in-1 Cleveland Browns because the guards just make us too sad to bring them back up after you start the show.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_05]: Jack will work alongside Chef's say we'll be joined by Phil Taylor here in a minute.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_05]: Zale, let's keep on talking about what's going to go down this weekend.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_05]: When the Browns head to New Jersey, actually it is not New York, right?
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I didn't make that up on Sunday.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_05]: I thought I'd grocked myself for a second, but it turns out it wasn't true statements.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_05]: So I guess we can proceed.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_05]: Zay, we talked about this defense for a little bit, but I think the one group we haven't talked about enough so far is the linebacker.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_05]: She did talk about Quincy Williams for a second.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_05]: She might have trolled me and go to a receiver.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_04]: No, there is no track.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_04]: I can't control you.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_05]: Don't worry.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I will get back into a master trail for in a minute But I feel like the one group we haven't really touched on on the defense yet is the linebacker So far and let's talk about the special teams in a minute also because Andre Schmidt has been fricking ridiculous But say you talk about Quincy earlier.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_05]: You've always been the Carson swissinger guy in Cleveland, Ohio How much has that guy coming out wearing the green dot in year two and just?
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_05]: not missing a beat from year one, meant to this defense after we really didn't see him play it all in the preseason had some injuries in the offseason he kind of would have had every excuse in the world to come out with a slower start.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_04]: Listen, I think I go back to the unsung hero man Quincy Williams has not only like Carson was going to be Carson regardless, but he unlocked like the personality aspect of Carson that the clip that's going to rain my head for eternity as long as he's a Cleveland Brown.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_04]: when he broke down that huddle and said kill his own three kill his own three oh we I was ready to suit up like he is um you know you think about a lot of the just the AFC North and as a whole you think about the James Harrison's of the world you think about the ray Lewis's and the terrell's sugs of the world I mean I guess you can go vantez birth it you know for other reasons but
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_04]: The Browns have had, you know, they've had Andre Davis, they've had a Dequelle Jackson, they've had a Christian Kirksey, no, they, they didn't even in the same stratosphere as what Carson could potentially be.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that it is a massive W that you got a guy like that and the pair and what that rocket, that missile that is Quincy, it makes, it probably makes his life a lot easier as well.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_05]: Can we talk a bit about the interior of the defensive lied now?
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_05]: Because Malik Collins, not saying it's the exact same thing at all, but Malik Collins came out.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_05]: I believe he had five sex.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe it was through like eight weeks last year.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_05]: End up getting hurt and was out for the rest of the season.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_05]: And we did definitely see a drop off up the middle for the Browns when that happened.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_05]: This year, hopefully a different story.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_05]: And obviously, the Browns hope to and likely will return Mason Graham at some point this season.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_05]: But when you see a guy like Mason Graham go down after having four sex through what?
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_05]: Three games in a quarter, essentially.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_05]: Who do you need to step up the most?
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_05]: Isn't really Collins, is it my call going into a bigger more prominent role?
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_05]: Well, they've already been stepping up.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_04]: Aiding Huntington had a sack this past Thursday and the absence and then my call, I think five different guys did on Thursday.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you got injured and then came back.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I mean, like, those are the backups and they're already making the impact.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't want to sit here and say that I need to see more out of them.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, you're going to need to see a little bit more because Mesa Graham is drawing double team.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_04]: No one's going to double team Aiding Huntington out.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think maybe maybe my call, but I think
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_04]: they just have to stay the course right now they they are creating the new standard the new narrative that's surrounding this team and everything that they're putting out moving forward is who I think we are you know as a team so I don't want to you know sit here and bitch and complain about oh I need to see more from this guy or anything because they're winning games and they're doing it their way they're not doing it how everyone else wants them to win
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_05]: So a big issue for the jets entering this one is at least three startards is looking like possibly out pre-sol we talked about earlier 80 Mitchell as well.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_05]: And then Dylan Pirer might believe has already been ruled out the left guard for the jets on the offensive side of the ball coming off a zay.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_05]: How do we say it?
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_05]: Come on, cd say.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_05]: not stellar performance against a Caleb Williams list bears team last weekend.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_05]: How do you think outside of just the general like you talked about like, hey, we expect to go in and beat the crap out of the team they're not as good as us?
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_05]: How is the Cleveland Browns do you ironically avoid complacency right now?
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_04]: Don't play down to this standard.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_04]: I mean we've we've been in this situation before.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_04]: I was at the three touch down Nick Chub game where Joe Flacco beats us with 14 down 14.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_04]: I was at that game So I think it's just one of those games where you can't look past the opponent.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_04]: You can't look past the record You have to treat them as so and you need to dominate early.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_04]: This is one of those things where
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_04]: We've seen where they can come out in score 21 points in a quarter and go three yards in a third quarter and still find a way to win game.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_04]: So let's let's let's just put them to bed early.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_04]: Let's get a lead.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_04]: Let's run it up as much as we can.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_04]: If our is having to let the defense go out there and a handle business, but you can't let.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I can't remember who was it was a CJ Gardner.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_04]: CJ Gardner just had the interview clip where he's like, he's like, hats off to the guy to the tight end, but let's just be honest.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_04]: Like, that's the biggest moment of his life.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_04]: Like, these are fourth and fifth stringers coming up and making plays.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, guys step up for these type of games.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_04]: You can't let the Joe's beat you because they don't get many opportunities to go out there when you have your starting running back and your starting receivers down.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_04]: So go out there and make plays and we've seen countless times.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_04]: nameless gray faces come through and dog walk the browns because we took them lightly so do your job basically.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_05]: We're prime time during this shots and one of the greatest spectacles I was ever right.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_05]: Was that the best way was against that?
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_05]: I think case key to might have started that game too.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_05]: But one thing when you're playing in fear of your opponent across any sport that can kill you that's killed the browns for stretches at every game this season and
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I guess the guards haven't taken penalties.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_05]: They just can't hit for shit.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_05]: There's a difference there.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_05]: So not baseball.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_05]: But penalties can kill you in the sport of football, as well as basketball fouls, hockey penalties as well.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_05]: Let's see where Todd Molk has to say about limiting penalties.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we shrunk the penalties, but it still wasn't good enough.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that many penalties is not a recipe for success.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we all know that.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's...
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: we've got to get a cleaned up especially the pre-snap penalties that's that's something we control that's got nothing to do with them it's got everything to do with us and we'll go back to work when the guys come back on Tuesday and we'll finally kill to clean it up because it's like says not a recipe for success.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_05]: So say, let me ask you, this isn't, oh, Jack wants to crap on the three and one Cleveland Browns.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_05]: But at what points or at what stretch of the season, do these continued poundies just become a straight up problem, like just a discipline issue?
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_04]: When we start losing games, I mean, there are problem now, but like, that's what I think the beauty of this entire stretches is why I get so frustrated with some of these narratives that we're talking about.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's something these topics that we're having.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_04]: We've watched the same style of football for so long and we've lost every single game that you can think of in the way.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_04]: But yet, the offense isn't clicking 100%, I wouldn't even say 75% of the offense.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe just 75% of the offense.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_04]: The run game has been very anemic despite having 130 on the ground this past year.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_04]: And you've got to be in the top half in the league in terms of penalties
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_04]: Your record still says you're three or one.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_04]: If you clean all that stuff up, man, you're talking about a damn good football team and then we're talking about fourth and fifth string receivers again.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_04]: So I think it's just one of those things where I'm looking like, man, if we do clean even if we cut those in half, like what does this team look like?
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I also think that some of those penalties that we've seen,
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_04]: There, it's just out of their hands.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_04]: They were getting three penalties on one play.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_04]: When in the history of the NFL, have we ever heard of some bullshit like that?
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_04]: Where one team gets three penalties.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I look at it as a silver lining as just like when we do, not if, when we do clean up these penalties, you better be ready because you're going to see another different form of this team when they do clean it up.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_05]: Zay, let's talk about cleaning up this weekend at New Jersey because you just made a good point a couple of minutes go about this jet scheme coming up that you kind of got to go in and nameless face anyone like you got you can't just because oh maybe Breeze Hall is going to be I can't let her running back who might be getting his first shot and forever to prove himself go on beat you.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_05]: Let's see what Joe Thomas had to say about beating it seemed like the one and three jets.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's the next step.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_01]: You go against a team that people don't think you're going to be in Pittsburgh, right?
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_01]: And you win.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_01]: So you validate it.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_01]: But now the second part of the validation is, can you go win the games that people expect you to win, right?
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_01]: Because the perspective in the locker room now has changed from, hey, we're underdogs.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: We got a chip on our shoulder.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody believes in us to like,
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_01]: we're walking into this game now we're favorites and people are expecting a certain level of competition and a certain level of play but that also means the team that's coming in here to try to play against us or the team that we're going to go play in their place thinks that they're going to be able to sneak up on us because we're overlooking them now right like how do you play when the roles reverse a little bit and you have that pressure of expectations say it seems like everyone we play just aligns with you
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_04]: They might as well put me on the payroll at this point.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_04]: It's got to be coming soon, right?
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, damn, I had a thought and it just slipped my mind.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_04]: But I think that this team, you know, I think they're built for moments like this.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_04]: it's so browns like for them to play down to the jets and lose but like that Quincy Williams you don't just hear certain things more like out of nowhere it has to be implemented into you you think about how the players used to talk it was very mirrory issue of what Kevin Stephanski would give off but then you hear these players talk you heard Jared verse talk you heard Quincy Williams talk you're all these guys talk and
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_04]: They're violent.
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_04]: They're killers.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_04]: They're they're they're gritty.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_04]: They're all of these things and they're almost I don't want to say plain bully But like they almost are carrying that bully mentality and I think this is one of those guys were like, okay These dudes didn't think we got a chance.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_04]: We're gonna be chowas But these dudes We just bought the be chowas because we know we can beat you like I feel like that's what they're running with like the all-bark nobody like Let's not just talk about it.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just go
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_04]: might them in the ass and show them who the Browns really is and that's the way I'm feeling about it.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_05]: Say, last question for you today before we wrap up today's show.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_05]: Don't give mad because there's a positive part of this question that's all you got to prep us everything to say.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_05]: Here we go.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_05]: What is the one biggest reason to believe in these Cleveland Browns that they are for real and what is the one thing that could still derail this season?
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_04]: What are you looking at me like that for because I don't know how to take this question.
- 1:12:08[SPEAKER_04]: What's the one say the first one again?
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_04]: What's the one?
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_05]: The biggest reason off the first four weeks that you should believe that these Browns are for real Because the fashion that they've been winning games.
- 1:12:19[SPEAKER_04]: They've won games and and fashion that we don't win
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_04]: winning against when the refs are seems like they're against you winning when you need to make a game winning drive.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_04]: Our quarterback's done it three times in a row.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_04]: You have a head coach who has the entire team bought in.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_04]: There is a lot to actually feel why we could continue to propel.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_04]: And what's one thing that could do rail?
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_04]: injuries, injuries.
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_04]: I think injuries is the one thing that can take this thing and make it come crashing down.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_05]: Like, it's something like dense up, like, like a big receiver because you don't have that.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_04]: No, I know.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_04]: Um, it all, you might hate me for saying this because I'm a, you know, I'm a Shidorah guy, but like,
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_04]: I would much rather see Watson go this entire year, I think.
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see if it's him, you know, and I mean, I don't want to, or but then again, I'm talking myself into it.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe it is.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what could do real this thing.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_04]: Other than Brown's beating Browns, that's what I think could do real right now and just because they're playing,
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_04]: a brand of football.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_04]: That is a sustainable.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_04]: No, it probably is a sustainable the way that they are.
- 1:13:39[SPEAKER_04]: But again, you're talking about a incomplete team.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_04]: You're talking about a brand new offense, a brand new head coach, brand new receivers, brand new offensive line.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_04]: Like think about how many brand news you're talking about.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_04]: You're just sort of a lot of brand new.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_04]: And without it with anything brand new, you think about.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_04]: For instance, the iPhone do all that's coming out.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_04]: How many problems is that thing going to come out?
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like, it's the first foldable of a thing.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_05]: There's going to be problems with it.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_05]: It's a foldable phone.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's a stupidest thing I've ever heard.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_04]: You're late to the party then.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_04]: You've been foldable phones for probably longer than you.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_05]: Well, not like the, I mean, like a photoble like with a glass screen.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's the galaxy, no water.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_05]: There's people do that.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_04]: There's hell, I have that in the car.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_05]: I'm okay.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_05]: I know where I'm going to be in five minutes.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_04]: No, but I just think that like Browns can't beat the Browns.
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_04]: You'll do really yourself if you beat yourself and you mentally, mentally, get out of it.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't think I think mentally they're never in a better spot.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_05]: See, we got to tell our friends listening in about pizza two and six.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to give us a here we go brownies chant first.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if you deserve one, honestly, but here we...
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't look at me like that.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_05]: Here we go, brownies.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_05]: Here we go.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_05]: All right, Westsideers get ready.
- 1:14:52[SPEAKER_05]: Pizza 216 has a new location opening in Avan.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_05]: And for your next guard's game, his many as there are left and all your Browns games head down time to 401, you could have a new.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_05]: They've got plenty of TVs, a great bar, seen an over 20 draft beers plus the menu that goes way beyond pizza, including, I got to say everything that they had, the garlic nuts there are ridiculous.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_05]: Bring your crew, grab some food and cheer on the guards and the brownies together.
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_05]: Pizza 216, your downtown game dispute with the new location coming to Avan.
- 1:15:21[SPEAKER_05]: Check them out at pizza-216.com.
