Latest / DEEP INSIGHT / 'Clown' Hegseth makes a fool of himself with fixation on superficial priorities
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Okay, friends, just a quick warning. In the clip I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: about to show you, former Fox News host and current
- 0:06Speaker 1: Secretary of Defense, Pete Hexeth uses a slur to describe
- 0:10Speaker 1: transgender Americans, American service members.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We are no longer the woke department or the weak department.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Simple translation of that. No fatties, no trannies, no beardos,
- 0:27Speaker 2: no weirdos, no wimps. No radicals, just warriors. The ideological
- 0:34Speaker 2: clowns are out. The patriotic cowboys are in with testosterone
- 0:41Speaker 2: testing on top. Diversity is not our strength. Unity is
- 0:48Speaker 2: our strength.
- 0:53Speaker 1: As disgusting and offensive as this clown might be, what
- 0:57Speaker 1: you just heard is right in line with what Hegseth
- 1:00Speaker 1: has signaled he wants to accomplish in his role as
- 1:03Speaker 1: Secretary of Defense. He wants to reshape the U.S. military
- 1:07Speaker 1: under his right-wing ideology for years to come.
- 1:13Speaker 2: From the Ivy Leagues to most liberal arts colleges, our
- 1:17Speaker 2: colleges and universities have become anti-American, DEI-worshipping, woke factories. We
- 1:23Speaker 2: need students of Western civilization in the pillars of our republic.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Leaders who understand the faith of Jerusalem, the philosophy of Athens,
- 1:32Speaker 2: the power of Rome, and the freedom of Philadelphia, circa 1776.
- 1:37Speaker 2: What the hell is.
- 1:41Speaker 1: He talking about? Just so you know, this guy is
- 1:45Speaker 1: a graduate of both Harvard and Princeton. I'm sure they're proud.
- 1:50Speaker 1: That aside, Hexeth is already doing everything in his power
- 1:53Speaker 1: to institute these new ideological changes. He barred military academies
- 1:58Speaker 1: from hiring civilians as tenured professors because he thinks they're woke.
- 2:04Speaker 1: His underlings at the Pentagon have also pushed to remake
- 2:08Speaker 1: lesson plans and ban books that explore issues like race
- 2:12Speaker 1: and sexism in Department of Defense schools around the world.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Hexeth and his allies want to eradicate woke wherever they can.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So what do they want to replace it with? Well,
- 2:25Speaker 1: look at what they openly expose or at least espouse.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Take for example, a former social media influencer who's now
- 2:34Speaker 1: working on a task force to root out woke ideologies
- 2:37Speaker 1: at military war colleges. He has openly called liberal women
- 2:42Speaker 1: a pestilence who will end Western civilization He has also
- 2:47Speaker 1: praised authoritarian and fascist dictators and has suggested that only
- 2:53Speaker 1: people with children should be allowed to vote. The Pentagon's
- 2:57Speaker 1: press secretary said that the department was proud to have
- 3:01Speaker 1: this individual on board. By the way, that press secretary
- 3:05Speaker 1: has their own history with racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories,
- 3:10Speaker 1: so there is that. Folks, that's just a taste, a
- 3:14Speaker 1: small taste of the kind of ideology that Pete Hexeth values.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And that's what he wants to instill at the Pentagon
- 3:23Speaker 1: for generations to come. Joining me now are Democratic Congressman
- 3:27Speaker 1: Pat Ryan and Chris Deluzio. Both are veterans of the
- 3:30Speaker 1: Iraq War and both serve on the House Armed Services Committee.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Thank you both, gentlemen. It's good to have you here.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Congressman Ryan, let's start with you, my friend. What were
- 3:42Speaker 1: your reactions to this sort of bro-man kind of military testosterone-laden.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Speech?
- 3:56Speaker 3: I mean, we know he's been about culture war BS
- 3:59Speaker 3: rather than actually fighting and winning wars from the beginning.
- 4:03Speaker 3: But each time he does this performative stuff, it gets worse.
- 4:07Speaker 3: There is now generational damage to our military. One of
- 4:11Speaker 3: the most and last remaining revered apolitical institutions, they're just
- 4:16Speaker 3: bringing a wrecking ball to it. And let's not forget,
- 4:18Speaker 3: this is happening in the middle of essentially the most
- 4:23Speaker 3: unpopular war in American history. So rather than focusing on
- 4:26Speaker 3: the strategy, the resources, taking care of our troops, thinking
- 4:30Speaker 3: about the eight sailors who attempted suicide on the most
- 4:34Speaker 3: recent extended deployment, he's doing this stuff. It is pathetic.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And it is infuriating to all of us who served,
- 4:41Speaker 3: regardless of our party affiliation. It's just beneath the dignity
- 4:45Speaker 3: of this office.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Congressman DeLucia, I like your reaction as well, because I
- 4:50Speaker 1: really appreciate what Congressman Ryan noted there about the impact
- 4:55Speaker 1: of this, particularly when you consider the stories that have
- 4:59Speaker 1: emerged from families and from official records about violence. service
- 5:03Speaker 1: members who have tried to commit suicide. There's been, as
- 5:08Speaker 1: far as I know, no real attention to that. But hey,
- 5:12Speaker 1: maybe they'll get a testosterone shot and they'll feel better.
- 5:15Speaker 1: This is where this whole thing kind of comes down
- 5:17Speaker 1: with this guy.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, look, he's spending all this time worried
- 5:22Speaker 4: about testosterone levels for our troops. How about whether they
- 5:24Speaker 4: were protected from drone and missile attacks when he started
- 5:28Speaker 4: the Iran war? How about planning for how you're going
- 5:31Speaker 4: to rotate out aircraft carrier strike groups and the conditions
- 5:34Speaker 4: for those sailors and Marines on board? Why don't you
- 5:36Speaker 4: worry about that? You know, this war is not being
- 5:39Speaker 4: lost by Pete Hexeth and Donald Trump because the testosterone
- 5:42Speaker 4: levels of our troops, Donald Trump and Pete Hexeth are
- 5:45Speaker 4: doing that all on their own. They have failed this country.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Pete Hexeth ought to be gone. Donald Trump ought to
- 5:51Speaker 4: fire this guy. He should have fired him a long
- 5:53Speaker 4: time ago. And to echo my friend Pat Ryan's points,
- 5:56Speaker 4: he is doing real damage to the culture atop the military.
- 6:00Speaker 4: He's pushed out so many qualified senior flag rank general
- 6:04Speaker 4: admiral officers. it's really, really destabilized the military. A time
- 6:09Speaker 4: when he has them recklessly at war doing what he's ordered,
- 6:12Speaker 4: but it has cost tremendously in terms of lives, in
- 6:15Speaker 4: terms of dollars.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Congressman Ryan, you know, the other aspect of this that
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think is little noticed in conversations, because a lot
- 6:23Speaker 1: of folks, you know, may focus on the bigger military,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you know, institutions like, you know, certainly in the education space, like,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you know, West Point and Annapolis, the Naval Academy, etc.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But there are a number of other education related institutions
- 6:44Speaker 1: for military. younger Americans who are in these military programs
- 6:49Speaker 1: at various levels, where we're seeing this administration and this
- 6:55Speaker 1: Secretary of Defense, wanting to inject his ideology into the
- 7:01Speaker 1: educational institutions that the Pentagon oversees. How nervous or really
- 7:08Speaker 1: worried should members of Congress be about that, particularly those
- 7:12Speaker 1: who are, you know, have oversight responsibilities of these institutions
- 7:16Speaker 1: on the various committees? And what can we do to
- 7:19Speaker 1: begin to guard ourselves and our kids from this level
- 7:23Speaker 1: of abuse and It's part of their educational learning and
- 7:28Speaker 1: military training.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and the hypocrisy of claiming you're getting rid of
- 7:35Speaker 3: politics while you're just putting these poor, young, patriotic men
- 7:40Speaker 3: and women that want to serve, that want to do
- 7:42Speaker 3: right by their country, want to do right by their community,
- 7:44Speaker 3: putting them right in the crossfire of all this culture
- 7:47Speaker 3: war stuff. I represent... West Point, which I'll say in
- 7:50Speaker 3: front of my colleague is the Better Service Academy. And
- 7:54Speaker 3: I know he's on the board of visitors for Annapolis.
- 7:58Speaker 3: And this is serious stuff. I talk to these cadets
- 8:02Speaker 3: every day. They see what's happening. They are wrestling with this.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And they know, by the way, we're headed into the
- 8:08Speaker 3: most dangerous, volatile moment where war is rapidly changing. And
- 8:13Speaker 3: that means we need critical thinking. We need soldiers that
- 8:16Speaker 3: are not only physically tough and fit, but mentally tough
- 8:20Speaker 3: and fit, able to wrestle with complex ideas, hear from
- 8:23Speaker 3: people they disagree with. That makes them better leaders in
- 8:27Speaker 3: combat should they, God forbid, have to fight in it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And it just makes us stronger as a military force.
- 8:34Speaker 3: and a nation, and I think they are scared of free-thinking,
- 8:37Speaker 3: independent leaders. That's why they fired folks like General Randy George,
- 8:42Speaker 3: Chief of Staff of the Army, C.D. Donahue, one of
- 8:45Speaker 3: the most revered, lethal warriors. So you're saying no beardos
- 8:52Speaker 3: and weirdos, and then you're putting Elon Musk and Newt
- 8:56Speaker 3: Gingrich in charge of the future of our military? I mean,
- 8:59Speaker 3: that does not pass the common sense test there.
- 9:03Speaker 1: We got we got less than a minute left, Congressman Deluzio.
- 9:06Speaker 1: So I'm gonna give the last word to you on this,
- 9:09Speaker 1: because Hexeth today sent out and our service members, at
- 9:14Speaker 1: least those attending, received a 144 page field manual, which
- 9:19Speaker 1: included collections of Hexeth speeches and a pledge from Trump
- 9:23Speaker 1: to avoid, quote, dumb wars. I won't even get into
- 9:27Speaker 1: the self-promotion here, but to Congressman Ryan's point about who's
- 9:31Speaker 1: in charge and the people and the men who are
- 9:33Speaker 1: being put in place, what are your thoughts there? And
- 9:38Speaker 1: how do service members receive this stuff where they pick
- 9:41Speaker 1: up this thing and they look at it and they go,
- 9:43Speaker 1: what the hell?
- 9:46Speaker 4: Our service members are the smartest. They're the bravest. They're
- 9:49Speaker 4: going to do their duty despite Pete Hegseth's incompetence.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And it's that.
- 9:53Speaker 4: He is incompetent. He's waging culture war with our military.
- 9:56Speaker 4: He's destroying, I think, a longstanding deep respect that existed
- 10:03Speaker 4: for civil and military relations. And look, our troops are
- 10:07Speaker 4: the best. They deserve a heck of a lot better
- 10:10Speaker 4: than Pete Hegseth leading the Pentagon right now.
- 10:12Speaker 1: All righty. Congressman Ryan, Congressman Deluzio, thank you both for
- 10:17Speaker 1: being here. I really appreciate it. Hey, it's Rachel.
- 10:21Speaker 5: I am so glad to see you at the end
