- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good evening from the chicken coop.
- 0:30As I'm tucking all the girlies in and doing their head count
- 0:34and getting everybody all put away.
- 0:36Tonight we are talking about gratitude and all the little
- 0:40things we can be grateful for. Because the one most powerful
- 0:44thing that you can do for yourself is to operate in
- 0:46consistent gratitude. But it takes a lot to do this.
- 0:50Everybody thinks it's so easy and it's so simple.
- 0:53Just be grateful. But when you're in this world
- 0:56and you're dealing with the everyday days of this world,
- 0:59it's kind of hard to to put on a a bright face all the time and
- 1:03say, let me find my gratitude list and not have a feel like
- 1:06you're just ticking a box. Honestly, I stopped writing a
- 1:09gratitude list a long time ago because I felt like I was just
- 1:13doing it as a chore and ticking a box and moving on.
- 1:16And I didn't mean any of the words.
- 1:18So I changed my practice of it many years ago.
- 1:22And I try to live in a state where I can find multiple things
- 1:26that I can be grateful for over and over.
- 1:29Small, tiny, tiny things. So for instance, I could sit
- 1:33here and say I'm grateful for a flashlight because I'm out here
- 1:35in the coop and it's getting dark and the girls are all up in
- 1:39their roost and I'm grateful I have a flashlight.
- 1:41I'm also grateful I have the iPhone.
- 1:44I'm grateful that I can come out and record the podcast in the
- 1:47evening because the mornings are still so dark.
- 1:50I've got a basket full of eggs. I can be grateful for all the
- 1:53eggs that they gave me today and that the weather is nice and,
- 1:56you know, cool right now it's not too hot.
- 1:58I can be grateful that today I had a break in my calendar and I
- 2:02was able to get some of the garden fabric down.
- 2:06I'm grateful that I'm looking at the row of wild jessamine that's
- 2:09growing along the girls fence and it looks so pretty.
- 2:12I'm grateful that Buford is out here with me.
- 2:14And I think you get the point. I could go on and on and on
- 2:17about the things that I'm grateful for, but the power of
- 2:20this, and this is really why I want to talk about this, is when
- 2:24you start focusing on the small little things that you can be
- 2:26grateful for, more big things show up that are tremendous.
- 2:31But you have to train your brain to stay consistent in that
- 2:35energy so that you can manifest it by calling it in.
- 2:39And that's the hard part, consistency.
- 2:41I mean, if I said, hey, I want you to hold the thought of being
- 2:44grateful for something for the next one minute, 60 seconds, I
- 2:48can guarantee that in 30 seconds in, your brain is going to be
- 2:52floating around and you'll be like, oh, yeah, what was I
- 2:54thinking about? It's very hard to train the
- 2:56brain to stay present and consistent in the moment.
- 3:00So the work is real. The work is hard.
- 3:03It's like going to the gym mentally every single day, and
- 3:06you have to focus on it. So my condition is as I walk
- 3:11around, You've all heard me say this before.
- 3:13If you're a regular listener, I use my phone to take pictures of
- 3:16things that I can be grateful for throughout the day, and then
- 3:19I look at them at the end of the day.
- 3:20I walk through my life looking at all the small things, paper
- 3:25clips, spoons, things that seemingly don't get noticed,
- 3:30flip flops like the list I just gave you.
- 3:33Because if I can do that, then all the big things can be
- 3:37attracted and come in. Like I'm so grateful that the
- 3:40girls put themselves away at night.
- 3:42I don't have to go outside and call them all.
- 3:45They just know it's time to come in.
- 3:46That's awesome. I love that.
- 3:48It's like kids putting themselves to bed.
- 3:49It's the best thing. I'm grateful for the fact that I
- 3:54have paid attention to this small pattern that changes so
- 3:58much in my life. When you start doing this, I
- 4:01promise you, you're going to notice a tremendous difference
- 4:03in how you show up in the world during the day.
- 4:06Every day builds on each other and you start to feel more
- 4:09energized. You start to feel more powerful.
- 4:11You start to feel more abundant. What's so important in all of
- 4:16this is that you stay on task with this and make sure that you
- 4:21have a very specific, very tight rope around your brain going off
- 4:28in the wrong direction and that you really put your intention on
- 4:32that piece of saying, I'm going to.
- 4:34I am focused on gratitude and I'm going to stick with it
- 4:37because I promise you, once you do that, you won't notice all
- 4:41the crap that's around you that you don't like as much.
- 4:44You'll start letting little things go, Your moods will
- 4:47elevate and you will recover quicker when something does go
- 4:50sideways. So for the practice of this
- 4:55purpose today, just start simple, do the little things you
- 4:58can, and then we will go from there.
- 5:01Practice with it, be grateful, and do those little, tiny little
- 5:04things that make it feel so much better.
- 5:07All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:09will see you tomorrow. Bye.
