- 0:00Speaker 1: So was my anniversary this weekend? Yes, the anniversary of
- 0:04Speaker 1: what my wedding? Twenty one years we've been married.
- 0:09Speaker 2: So what was the what's the exact date?
- 0:12Speaker 1: What's the exact date?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, with the twenty first.
- 0:17Speaker 1: First and so we went out to dinner, A nice dinner.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm not going to say where. A nice dinner, Okay, tablecloths,
- 0:26Speaker 1: wait staff in in Uh, you know, nice uniforms, nice
- 0:32Speaker 1: white shirts and black pants.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Okay?
- 0:34Speaker 2: And name tags.
- 0:36Speaker 1: No, no, nice places don't have named no.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Oh no, you have to have name tags to legally serve.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't notice anyway.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm busy gazing into your husband's eyes.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It's true, he's so cute. But at this nice restaurant,
- 0:55Speaker 1: more than one table with people in a hoodie and
- 1:00Speaker 1: a ball cap, and the the sunglasses on the brim
- 1:05Speaker 1: of the ball cap. It was night time, by the way,
- 1:07Speaker 1: sunglasses perched.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You're going out to a nice dinner. If you don't
- 1:15Speaker 1: take the hat off, then you're an all You're an
- 1:19Speaker 1: always hat guy, right, You're like, not a nice hat
- 1:23Speaker 1: like carry wears, but a ball cap at a nice restaurant.
- 1:26Speaker 2: What don't do that, Gina? What it's I I understand
- 1:35Speaker 2: that you that you like to it makes you feel
- 1:39Speaker 2: good to dress up and you know, to look nice
- 1:41Speaker 2: when you go out to a nice restaurant. Uh, there
- 1:44Speaker 2: are other people who have money have different standards of
- 1:50Speaker 2: what makes them comfortable and what's it to you?
- 1:54Speaker 1: I just think if you're if you don't take the
- 1:56Speaker 1: hat off to go out to a nice dinner, you're
- 1:59Speaker 1: you never take.
- 2:00Speaker 2: That hat off. So what's it do you?
- 2:04Speaker 3: So?
- 2:04Speaker 1: Part of what reminded me of it was this story
- 2:07Speaker 1: that came up in the news a couple of days ago.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Norwegian Cruise Line Yes passengers are blasting the company's new
- 2:16Speaker 1: dining dress code policy is idiotic. T shirts shorts are
- 2:21Speaker 1: the norm for many cruise lovers, but anyone who wants
- 2:23Speaker 1: to dine at the Norwegian Cruises top tier restaurants may
- 2:27Speaker 1: have to swap their comfy clothes for some designer duds.
- 2:31Speaker 1: There are several restaurants, not all of them, but several
- 2:34Speaker 1: who will no longer allow shorts or flip flops, tank tops, robes,
- 2:41Speaker 1: jeans with holes or tears, caps or hats. It may
- 2:45Speaker 1: not be worn at the premier dining establishments on the
- 2:50Speaker 1: cruise attire with offensive languages or images has been ruled
- 2:54Speaker 1: out too. Apparently some of their regular cruisers are furious.
- 3:03Speaker 1: They're like, I'm on vacation. I shouldn't have to dress
- 3:07Speaker 1: up when I'm on vacation. I want to be comfortable.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Well, it's not like we're asking you to get into
- 3:12Speaker 4: a tuxedo.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So I'm just assuming that the restaurant you went to
- 3:17Speaker 2: didn't have a dress code.
- 3:20Speaker 1: No, I don't think so.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And if there had been a dress code, then I think,
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know, they have where.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I just think there are a million places you can
- 3:31Speaker 1: go get dinner and you can wear a ball cap
- 3:33Speaker 1: and shorts and a hoodie and it does you were back.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, you know.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And if there is a dress code and you don't
- 3:42Speaker 2: want to adhere to the dress code, then you don't
- 3:44Speaker 2: need to go to that restaurant.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But if I'm going to that restaurant, part of why
- 3:49Speaker 1: I'm going is for a certain feel, a certain esthetic.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And find a restaurant with a dress code, and.
- 3:56Speaker 1: That takes that takes me out of it a little bit,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Like I want to I want to get dressed up
- 4:03Speaker 1: and go to a really nice meal, and I have
- 4:04Speaker 1: to sit there and look at hoodie ball cap guy
- 4:07Speaker 1: while it ruins it a little.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Bit, Yeah, there was. There was.
- 4:11Speaker 4: There's a couple of places that I have been to
- 4:14Speaker 4: that that that.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Gave me the heads up that said we have a
- 4:17Speaker 3: dress code.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and and so we were prepared for it.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Like on vacation or no, it's just just here here
- 4:26Speaker 1: in town.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 4: But there was a couple of restaurants on the cruise
- 4:30Speaker 4: ship that I was on the also said have a
- 4:32Speaker 4: dress code.
- 4:34Speaker 2: You've been you've been with me when i've uh, I
- 4:38Speaker 2: was not dressed quite appropriately enough to go into a restaurant. Yes,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and they gave me a jacket to wear. And that's
- 4:47Speaker 2: you know, that's that's why. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize, well, here,
- 4:50Speaker 2: here's what you can wear. This jacket, this dinner jacket.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Now I can tell you that Capitol Grill over here
- 5:00Speaker 4: has a dress code. However, when we were in there,
- 5:06Speaker 4: there was a muscular guy at a tank top, so.
- 5:09Speaker 1: They didn't stop him.
- 5:10Speaker 4: They didn't stop him.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I just wonder why muscular guy in a tank top
- 5:15Speaker 1: doesn't walk in there and feel underdressed and be like, oh.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Just look at these guns.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I brought the gun show to the stake place.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I don't know. I used to. I used to kind
- 5:29Speaker 2: of feel that the way you do, and now I think,
- 5:32Speaker 2: you know, maybe my I mean, if if he was
- 5:36Speaker 2: not making a scene or anything, he was just having dinner,
- 5:39Speaker 2: maybe he's you know, he's a hard working guy. He's
- 5:43Speaker 2: got enough money to go out to a nice dinner.
- 5:45Speaker 2: But he's gonna go out, and you know, it's.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Just it's like when we used to get people sending
- 5:50Speaker 1: us pictures of their wedding invitation and there was a
- 5:55Speaker 1: picture on the wedding invitation of the couple. This is
- 6:00Speaker 1: wedding invitation and it's a picture of you. And if
- 6:02Speaker 1: the guy had a ball cap on, like you can't
- 6:05Speaker 1: even take the ball cap off for your wedding, You're
- 6:08Speaker 1: you got to have a ball cap in?
- 6:10Speaker 2: Or what's it do you? What does it do you? What?
- 6:13Speaker 2: What do you?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Ball cap is casual?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Why do you care?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Why don't you care?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Because I just don't. I mean, I'm not going to
- 6:22Speaker 2: wear a ball cap.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Phone No, I'm saying to the to ball cap guy,
- 6:26Speaker 1: why don't you care? It's not Why don't you want
- 6:29Speaker 1: to look nice? You wear a ball cap? Three hundred
- 6:32Speaker 1: and sixty days a year. But five days a year
- 6:36Speaker 1: you look, you look a little nice. And that's not
- 6:40Speaker 1: spending any money. That's just not wearing something. I'm not
- 6:43Speaker 1: telling you you have to buy anything.
- 6:45Speaker 2: If people aren't, if people aren't making a scene or
- 6:48Speaker 2: you know, being too to, their behavior is not outrageous.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I could I could give an ass of what they're wearing.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Corey says, because that kind of person has no s
- 7:00Speaker 4: give about other people.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yes, maybe it's kind of selfish, it's what he's saying. Maybe,
- 7:08Speaker 2: But I'm telling you there are lots of people who
- 7:10Speaker 2: wear ball caps three hundred and sixty five days a year,
- 7:12Speaker 2: who are the salt of the earth.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I'm not saying that they're not. I just I don't know.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm saying you should. You should respect yourself a little
- 7:21Speaker 1: more that occasionally there is a place you go where
- 7:26Speaker 1: where you were a nice shirt with buttons and you
- 7:29Speaker 1: leave the.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Hat at home.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I remember we were going to a wedding and Sue said,
- 7:35Speaker 4: don't wear that. We're something nicer and I said, hun,
- 7:39Speaker 4: I'm still going to be the best dressed person.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And you probably were right, and I was. There are
- 7:45Speaker 1: certain like weddings and things that you should make a
- 7:49Speaker 1: little effort.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Have standards for yourself, don't have standards for other people.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I mean, that's just you know, if that's your standard,
- 8:01Speaker 2: then observe it.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I think that's the statement of someone who has given up.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Respect yourself a little more.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It's a statement from someone who's become sort of more
- 8:15Speaker 2: tolerant of certain behaviors, because I don't think you.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Should tolerate all behaviors. Some behaviors that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I said, certain behaviors.
- 8:27Speaker 4: All right, let's see, how do you feel about flip
- 8:29Speaker 4: flops on an airplane?
- 8:32Speaker 2: I don't care. Open toes, I don't care.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I guess I don't care. I don't wear them.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But would you wear flip flops on an airplane? Probably not,
- 8:43Speaker 4: because you know what that means.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That means you're walking through t s A with the
- 8:47Speaker 1: bare feet on the floor of the exactly, and that's gross.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but so I probably wouldn't wear I don't think
- 8:56Speaker 2: i'd wear flip flops on a plane, but I don't
- 8:59Speaker 2: care if somebody else, now I don't want to see
- 9:01Speaker 2: him barefoot.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Well, you are at the at the airport.
- 9:06Speaker 4: No, I mean, flip flops are essentially barefoot there's there's
- 9:10Speaker 4: two straps.
- 9:11Speaker 2: There's a layer between the bottom of it.
- 9:13Speaker 3: There's two straps barefoot.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I don't know, it's just somebody, says amen.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Gina.
- 9:20Speaker 1: We were at Eccles Theater last week and the amount
- 9:23Speaker 1: of hoodies and ball caps were unbelievable. It's not a
- 9:25Speaker 1: jazz game. I can't see around you in the theater.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Decorum's lost. We need to dress appropriately for certain occasions.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Yes, let's see. My dad was a coal miner. However,
- 9:37Speaker 4: once he left the mine, we had a special place
- 9:41Speaker 4: to go. His boots were polished and there wasn't a
- 9:44Speaker 4: hat at all. And my brothers even learned that once
- 9:47Speaker 4: you get to the dinner table, all hats come off.
- 9:50Speaker 4: My hat costs more than your entire outfit. Okay, I
- 9:56Speaker 4: will wear it at the dinner table.
- 9:59Speaker 3: I paid for this thing, all right,
