- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone here for all you podcast listeners
- 0:03Speaker 1: are special bonus segment which we do every week. Glad
- 0:08Speaker 1: you're listening to the podcast, otherwise we want to listen live.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm on the air ten to noon Monday through Friday. Now,
- 0:15Speaker 1: you know, you keep seeing on the fake news on
- 0:18Speaker 1: the network television, New York Times, everywhere, CN and I'll
- 0:21Speaker 1: always tell you President's approval rating. You know, they're trying
- 0:25Speaker 1: to make it sound like he's got a problem with
- 0:27Speaker 1: this approval rating. They always come up with some fake poll,
- 0:30Speaker 1: some pole with very bad metrics showing you the approval rating.
- 0:35Speaker 1: You know, it's one thing they never tell you. I
- 0:36Speaker 1: haven't seen anybody report this in the last few weeks,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the fact that the media, the news media now has
- 0:45Speaker 1: their lowest approval ratings ever. They never mentioned this approval
- 0:49Speaker 1: rating media down to an all time low twenty eight percent.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Twenty eight percent. Now, President Trump and even I'll give
- 1:00Speaker 1: give CNN credit, they were forced to admit this on
- 1:02Speaker 1: the air the other day. He's the first president ever
- 1:06Speaker 1: to have a higher approval rating in his second term
- 1:10Speaker 1: than his first term. Nobody's ever done that before. But
- 1:12Speaker 1: he's actually accomplished that. Hey, all this talk about Greenland,
- 1:18Speaker 1: people might wonder why it'd be very valuable to the
- 1:21Speaker 1: US for a number of reasons, military wise, military base wise,
- 1:24Speaker 1: very very important, strategic, that's why we have a military
- 1:28Speaker 1: presence there. Also for shipping. It's very important. Also, they
- 1:32Speaker 1: got a ton of minerals under there. It has all
- 1:34Speaker 1: kinds of strategic value for the United States to have it.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's supposedly owned by Denmark, although some people question how
- 1:42Speaker 1: Denmark ever got a hold of it. But it's the
- 1:45Speaker 1: property of Denmark. Now, how do you get Greenland? Well,
- 1:50Speaker 1: the president talking about takeover military operation sees Greenland. He's
- 1:56Speaker 1: not going to do that, but it's just negotiating. Apparently
- 2:02Speaker 1: Danish troops have been ordered if that happens, to shoot first,
- 2:06Speaker 1: ask questions later. Now that sounds bad. Oh, they're going
- 2:09Speaker 1: to shoot first. That was a major conflict the Danish
- 2:12Speaker 1: troops versus US. The Danish troops are like six guys, says,
- 2:16Speaker 1: it's like a tiny little here's nobody on Greenland. There's
- 2:18Speaker 1: only I think it's fifty three thousand people live in Greenland.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That would not fill a giant stadium, that would not fill.
- 2:26Speaker 1: The Yankee stated, so less than the Yankee Stadium, so
- 2:28Speaker 1: there's really no population. And as far as the military,
- 2:33Speaker 1: you could send them a boy scout troop could take
- 2:35Speaker 1: over Greenland very easily. But here's what's going to happen.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been given the task
- 2:43Speaker 1: of meeting with Danish officials to really make the negotiation
- 2:47Speaker 1: to purchase it. That's what we're really up to. To
- 2:49Speaker 1: purchase Greenland, they'd have to sell it to us. Again,
- 2:54Speaker 1: it does have a ton of minerals there that's very valuable.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Although Denmark has not taking advantage of that. Why would
- 3:01Speaker 1: they sell it? Well enough money? They were heavily in debt.
- 3:05Speaker 1: The deficit of Denmark was huge. Selling it would really
- 3:08Speaker 1: help them with that problem. But then they came up
- 3:10Speaker 1: with Ozempic. The company that makes those weight loss drugs
- 3:15Speaker 1: is located in Denmark. So all of that ozempic type
- 3:19Speaker 1: weight loss drugs brought in so much money it fixed
- 3:22Speaker 1: the big deficit debt problem of Denmark. Well, there is
- 3:27Speaker 1: another thing the president could do. He could put heavy
- 3:29Speaker 1: tariffs on those drugs. Now, apparently with those weight loss drugs,
- 3:33Speaker 1: seventy five percent of their business is in the US,
- 3:36Speaker 1: so if you tariff them like crazy, that could screw
- 3:39Speaker 1: up sales and really cripple the economy of Denmark. So
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's a weapon they'll use. Now. The Supreme Court is
- 3:46Speaker 1: of course going to rule about whether we can do
- 3:48Speaker 1: the tariffs or not. But there's a lot of leverage.
- 3:51Speaker 1: The President the best negotiator around. He'll make a deal
- 3:55Speaker 1: at some point, will buy Greenland. It's not the most
- 3:59Speaker 1: exciting place in the world, but very valuable for a
- 4:02Speaker 1: lot of reasons. Hey, the CBS Evening News they got
- 4:05Speaker 1: that new hotshot, young anchor, Tony. Can I say his
- 4:09Speaker 1: name now? He said the Coppel, the Coopel, the cop
- 4:14Speaker 1: You should just call him Tony d. Because who's going
- 4:17Speaker 1: to pronounce this last name. He had what they consider
- 4:20Speaker 1: a good debut on the CBS Evening News. There were
- 4:22Speaker 1: some technical problems, some screw ups. In fact, they fired
- 4:26Speaker 1: one of the producers, the second in charge producer got
- 4:29Speaker 1: fired over it. Let's see, on Monday he got four
- 4:33Speaker 1: and a half million viewers, which, believe it or not,
- 4:36Speaker 1: For nowadays, you know, nobody watches network TV anymore. Less
- 4:40Speaker 1: and less people every minute are watching network TV, So
- 4:43Speaker 1: four and a half million is considered Okay, Now you
- 4:47Speaker 1: go back six years ago when Nora O'Donnell made her debut,
- 4:51Speaker 1: she got five and a half million. But to give
- 4:54Speaker 1: you the idea how much network TV has slipped. If
- 4:57Speaker 1: you go back like twenty years to Katie Kurk and
- 5:00Speaker 1: she debuted on the CBS Evening News almost fourteen million viewers.
- 5:04Speaker 1: That was normal back then, fourteen million viewers. But the
- 5:09Speaker 1: viewership on network TV for primetime, for news, for everything
- 5:12Speaker 1: is dropping every second, just keeps dropping and dropping and dropping.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Even ABC News World tonight, that's the biggest one at all.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Steady decreases over the last twenty years. Now. In their defense,
- 5:26Speaker 1: it's just happening with everything in television. All media keeps dropping.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You know, you have less people listening to the radio now,
- 5:32Speaker 1: a little less, you think, But if you actually look
- 5:35Speaker 1: at the numbers, more people listening to the radio today
- 5:38Speaker 1: than twenty years ago. And AMFM radio has one hundred
- 5:42Speaker 1: and fifty nine million people listening. AM Talk radio has
- 5:47Speaker 1: sixty three million people listening. So it's the one medium
- 5:51Speaker 1: that's hanging on network TV way way way down every year.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And as there's more and more diversity, more streaming, more streaming,
- 6:00Speaker 1: each one gets less and less and less. Hey, there
- 6:02Speaker 1: was a big funeral this week in Manhattan beginning of
- 6:06Speaker 1: the week. There was the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, Tatiana Schlossberg,
- 6:11Speaker 1: who was the one person in that family everybody liked.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Very successful New York Times journalist. But she died very young.
- 6:21Speaker 1: She had cancer and died and they had a private funeral.
- 6:24Speaker 1: They kept it very quiet. It was at the Church
- 6:27Speaker 1: of Saint Ignatius Loyola that's on the Upper East side
- 6:30Speaker 1: of Manhattan. That's where Jackie O. Nassas at her funeral.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I think that's where Jackie Nassas married John F. Kennedy.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But they had this private funeral. Caroline Kennedy's family through
- 6:40Speaker 1: this very private funeral, but all the big Democrats came.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Nancy Pelosi was there, John Carey was there. Even President
- 6:47Speaker 1: Joe Biden was there. He didn't know he was there,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but he was there. Michael Bloomberg was there. Designer Caroline
- 6:53Speaker 1: Herrera who created Toddiana's wedding dress in twenty seventeen. David
- 7:00Speaker 1: and they came there to pay his respects. I don't
- 7:03Speaker 1: know why. I don't know what he had to do
- 7:04Speaker 1: with the family, but he was there, letterman with the
- 7:08Speaker 1: Santa Claus look that he has. Now, the interesting thing
- 7:12Speaker 1: was that there was no Bobby Kennedy, you know, Robert
- 7:17Speaker 1: Kennedy Junior. Apparently the family furious at him because they're
- 7:22Speaker 1: all left wing Democrats and he's part of the Trump administration.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So I guess he was told not to come and
- 7:27Speaker 1: didn't come. The President in Palm Beach this weekend. You know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: he just spent two weeks there. His Christmas vacation. He
- 7:34Speaker 1: took two weeks off, spent it in Palm Beach. You know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: whenever a president is on a vacation, you always see
- 7:42Speaker 1: at some point during the vacation the video where he
- 7:46Speaker 1: for the day he went to town and he went shopping.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You know, you remember you see Joe Biden in the
- 7:51Speaker 1: little fudge store in Nantucket, or you'd see Joe Biden
- 7:55Speaker 1: getting an ice cream cone, or even the Clintons. You'd
- 7:58Speaker 1: see them there and Martha's Vineyard on a vacation, and
- 8:01Speaker 1: one day they went into the little gift shop and
- 8:03Speaker 1: bought some things. Well, even President Trump did a little
- 8:07Speaker 1: shopping while he was on his vacation. He was at
- 8:09Speaker 1: mar A Lago and Palm Beach and one day, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 1: every day he goes to play golf, the big presidential
- 8:15Speaker 1: motorciate comes out of mar A Lago, goes to the
- 8:17Speaker 1: Trump golf club and comes back. They do this every day. Well,
- 8:22Speaker 1: the press following him. Watch, Well, one day he came
- 8:26Speaker 1: out of mar Alago and he didn't go to the
- 8:28Speaker 1: golf club. He went shopping. He went to I guess
- 8:31Speaker 1: it was in West Palm Beach. He went into this
- 8:33Speaker 1: industrial shopping center and the motorcate pulled in there. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 1: one of those not a Walt Whitman mall kind of
- 8:41Speaker 1: a shopping center, but a very industrial building's commercial industrial
- 8:46Speaker 1: kind of stuff. So the motor kate pulled into the
- 8:48Speaker 1: shopping center and they saw the president went into the
- 8:52Speaker 1: parking lot. He went into a place called Arc Stone
- 8:55Speaker 1: and Tile, and apparently he was in there because he's
- 8:58Speaker 1: working on the ballroom, the new ballroom he's building at
- 9:01Speaker 1: the White House, and he wanted to help pick the tile,
- 9:04Speaker 1: the stone, the marble that they would use. He looked
- 9:07Speaker 1: at samples of marble and onyx. Now he's the president,
- 9:11Speaker 1: you think, well, can't they come to him and bring
- 9:14Speaker 1: all that stuff. Well, apparently not because it's an enormous facility,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and they got tons and tons and tons of marble
- 9:20Speaker 1: and stone and onyx samples. So he had a I mean,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it'd take forever to bring it to the White House.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So he went there, spent a lot of time in
- 9:27Speaker 1: there picking out materials for the ballroom, and then went home.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Now he's going to pay for all this at his
- 9:37Speaker 1: own expense. This ballroom cost a couple one hundred million.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Donors will pay a couple of hundred million, But he'll
- 9:43Speaker 1: pay for a lot of the stone, the marble. He's
- 9:44Speaker 1: already done parts of the White House over. You know
- 9:47Speaker 1: when a visitor comes in a world leader, you see
- 9:49Speaker 1: them come up the steps and they go in the
- 9:51Speaker 1: White House. The first thing you come into is a
- 9:53Speaker 1: big sort of a lobby. It's called the Palm Court.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And it looked awful through the years. It just kept
- 9:59Speaker 1: the kaying and get looked old and kind of crappy.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And well that's the first thing the President redid earlier
- 10:05Speaker 1: this year, completely rebuilt the whole thing, put in beautiful marble,
- 10:10Speaker 1: floral kinds of beautiful stuff on the walls and molding
- 10:13Speaker 1: and all that, repainted it, redid it and it looks
- 10:16Speaker 1: so much better now. So bit by bit by bit,
- 10:20Speaker 1: you've seen what he's done with the Oval office. That
- 10:22Speaker 1: looks great. But maybe a little too much gold there,
- 10:26Speaker 1: but it looks great, so bit by bit, he's redoing
- 10:30Speaker 1: the whole place. Hey, Apple makes the best products in
- 10:34Speaker 1: the world. This iPhone right there, laptop right there. They
- 10:38Speaker 1: make so much great stuff, Apple, AirPods right there, iPad everything. However,
- 10:45Speaker 1: every so often something bombs. It happens with everybody. Google,
- 10:49Speaker 1: even Trump had a couple of his businesses go bankrupt.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Every company has bankruptcy. You have something just remember the
- 10:56Speaker 1: Google glasses. That was a disaster, like a ten billion
- 10:59Speaker 1: dollar design. Well, Apple came out with Vision Pro. It's
- 11:03Speaker 1: not glasses. It's like those big goggles you put on,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and in the goggles you can see your computer, you
- 11:09Speaker 1: can watch movies. You can actually do it all at once.
- 11:13Speaker 1: You can watch a movie while you're seeing your computer screen,
- 11:15Speaker 1: while you're seeing If you ever seen those goggles in
- 11:19Speaker 1: the store, they just look too big and clunky. They
- 11:22Speaker 1: look like big scuba mask kind of goggles. Now, a
- 11:25Speaker 1: couple of real tech fanatics I know they got them.
- 11:28Speaker 1: They rave about them, they love them. But I think
- 11:31Speaker 1: for most people they don't want to put on these big,
- 11:33Speaker 1: clunky goggles. They're selling them now for a couple of years.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It looks like they're cutting back the tech giant. Apple
- 11:42Speaker 1: was expected to sell forty five thousand new units for
- 11:46Speaker 1: about thirty five hundred each during the fourth quarter. It
- 11:49Speaker 1: didn't too well. It's only sold in thirteen countries and
- 11:54Speaker 1: Apple is cutting production down. They're not going to make
- 11:57Speaker 1: as many of them. They're expected to not expand the
- 12:01Speaker 1: international rollout that's been canceled. Product is struggling there now
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm making less and less and less. It looks like
- 12:08Speaker 1: it's going to be a major misfire for Tim Cook,
- 12:11Speaker 1: the Apple CEO. It's the first major hardware launch in
- 12:15Speaker 1: a decade from the company. Now you can say that
- 12:17Speaker 1: makes him look bad, but again, Steve Jobs had the
- 12:21Speaker 1: same problem with the I mean, he's had plenty of
- 12:24Speaker 1: products that didn't work. It's perfectly normal for a business
- 12:27Speaker 1: that puts out a million things that something will bomb.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Tom Brady getting a lot of flak. You know, Tom
- 12:33Speaker 1: Brady's moved to Palm Beach. Now he's going out with
- 12:35Speaker 1: this twenty three Is she twenty three or twenty five,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but he's forty eight. He's forty eight, she's twenty five.
- 12:42Speaker 1: It's a twenty three year age gap. She looks great.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I mean it's Tom Brady. What do you think she's
- 12:50Speaker 1: gonna look like Rosie O'Donnell. Now she looks great. And
- 12:54Speaker 1: here he was seen with her on this yacht over
- 12:56Speaker 1: the Christmas vacation and she says, we're going to a
- 13:01Speaker 1: party tonight. Calvin Harris is playing. It's on the beach anyway,
- 13:05Speaker 1: they're having a hell of a time. Before that, she
- 13:08Speaker 1: went out with Braxton Burials from the Houston, Texas. She
- 13:13Speaker 1: loves football players. But Brady getting a lot of flay. Hey,
- 13:16Speaker 1: if you're Tom Brady, he's Tom Brady. It looks phenomenal.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He can't go out with somebody twenty three years younger.
- 13:23Speaker 1: What is he? Who's he supposed to go out with?
- 13:26Speaker 1: I mean, who's he supposed to date? Roseanne? I mean,
- 13:30Speaker 1: he's let the guy enjoy himself. And it makes a
- 13:32Speaker 1: lot more sense than Bill Belichick, who's got that twenty
- 13:35Speaker 1: two year old. Here's Bill Belichick, who looks like Grizzly
- 13:39Speaker 1: Adams with a bad sweatsuit and a bad hoodie. On.
- 13:43Speaker 1: But if he can do it, why not Tom Brady.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Big comedy tours are coming in twenty twenty six, lots
- 13:50Speaker 1: of them. That's gonna be the big thing. You know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: it's always Sebastian Manascalco and all that, but look for
- 13:55Speaker 1: a lot of big tours. Bill Murray going on tour,
- 13:58Speaker 1: Jeff Foxworthy, Jerry Seinfeld back on tour. Of course, John
- 14:02Speaker 1: mulaney will be one of the biggest. Uh hey, we're
- 14:05Speaker 1: out of time, but thanks for listening. If you're a
- 14:07Speaker 1: podcast listener, there's a bonus segment for you every weekend. Otherwise,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you can listen to the podcast during the week or
- 14:14Speaker 1: listen to Live. I'm on Live every day ten to
- 14:16Speaker 1: noon on seven ten WR. Thanks for listening.
