Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Hey, everyone. Hello, my name is Chris Farah, and this
- 0:09Speaker 1: is Vanity Farah. And today I'm talking Sister Wives. It's
- 0:13Speaker 1: season 21, episode 2. Been there, done that. Honey, let's talk.
- 0:18Speaker 1: First of all, hi, I'm Chris. Either you're listening on
- 0:21Speaker 1: Vanity Farah, which is my podcast, or you're on YouTube,
- 0:24Speaker 1: maybe even looking at me, and that's, you know, a
- 0:27Speaker 1: certain kind of, oh no, I'm wearing no makeup. I'm
- 0:30Speaker 1: still dealing with this dye. Hi. Either way, hello. If
- 0:34Speaker 1: you haven't yet, please comment, subscribe, like, follow the whole situation.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It certainly helps me. I talk about pop culture and
- 0:40Speaker 1: TV recaps like I'm doing today about the dumbest best
- 0:43Speaker 1: show on television, Sister Wives. I, this is my Roman empire.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I think it's the dumbest, best television show that I watch.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And the reason why is nothing happens and everything happens.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It is so small, right? It's the smallest reality show
- 0:57Speaker 1: in the sense that it doesn't feel forced, right? It's
- 1:02Speaker 1: like the slowest burn, but the highest payoff. I'm going
- 1:08Speaker 1: to say this, and this is for the most theater
- 1:10Speaker 1: nerd listener I have. To me, Sister Wives is the
- 1:14Speaker 1: closest to checkoff I'll get in a reality show format. Great. OK,
- 1:23Speaker 1: so we're hot in the heels on all three ex-wives
- 1:26Speaker 1: coming together, almost like they're forming a club to meet up,
- 1:29Speaker 1: share pictures and recipes. Mary never wanted this. And here
- 1:33Speaker 1: Mary is. She's walking in and Christine's like, oh, fuck.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Christine had said things like once you burn a bridge,
- 1:38Speaker 1: how do you go over it? So Christine has to
- 1:39Speaker 1: answer the door. She does offer help. Christine is like
- 1:42Speaker 1: people pleasing up a storm. You can really say that
- 1:44Speaker 1: she like falls into that. And Mary, you know, is like,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I'm fine, walks in. I think it's hilarious that Mary
- 1:53Speaker 1: this season, again, is Christine Baranski with like a Reba
- 1:57Speaker 1: 90s haircut. She walks in and the first thing she says,
- 2:03Speaker 1: the first thing she says is literally something verbatim she's
- 2:07Speaker 1: already told us and is negative in a negative tone. Well,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'm the only one that wanted to take pictures. And
- 2:15Speaker 1: then everyone in the family was mad at me. And
- 2:18Speaker 1: so I stopped. You literally, I feel like feel Janelle
- 2:24Speaker 1: bite her lip and then just breathe and be like,
- 2:27Speaker 1: let this, let this go. Because I think in Mary's mind,
- 2:31Speaker 1: she doesn't understand how she comes across. But like, again,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I want a therapist to be like, bitch, did you
- 2:37Speaker 1: watch this? Look at that. Replay that. What's happening? Why?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Why are you so mean walking in? Why are you
- 2:46Speaker 1: talking about something that happened years ago? You guys have
- 2:48Speaker 1: left this thing. Why are you trying to victimize yourself?
- 2:50Speaker 1: Like they weren't nice enough to you. The woman with
- 2:53Speaker 1: one kid and a camera. Well, they had 40 billion
- 2:56Speaker 1: kids running around them. Okay. Maybe they were like, yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 1: I don't want to post, take a picture all the
- 3:01Speaker 1: time because I'm like busy. I mean, I don't know.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Maybe you were really controlling about it. Can you just
- 3:05Speaker 1: have taken candidates like a journalist or something? Okay. Like
- 3:12Speaker 1: a war journalist, you know, we're just, they're just taking pictures, honey.
- 3:15Speaker 1: You don't even know they're there. Okay. That's not Mary. Okay. Listen,
- 3:19Speaker 1: Mary wants one thing in her life, which is Mary
- 3:23Speaker 1: wants people to get how funny she is. Mary's funny.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And she's pissed. And no one thinks that she's funny.
- 3:36Speaker 1: My whole life, I've just been so funny, just making
- 3:38Speaker 1: up all these jokes. These stupid, dumb, soulless people never laugh.
- 3:44Speaker 1: They never laugh. I think that is... I am doing
- 3:49Speaker 1: a character, obviously, based upon that. I think it's so funny.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think it's such a weird... Yeah, it's just such
- 3:57Speaker 1: a fun, weird marriage. To be mad that people don't
- 4:00Speaker 1: think you're funny and you're not funny is hilarious. It's
- 4:04Speaker 1: actually hilarious. Isn't that weird? Okay, I'll stop talking about it. So,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and it's funny because, like, Mary... if she could just
- 4:16Speaker 1: not be passive aggressive or petty like what if mary
- 4:20Speaker 1: was like i have the pictures i have uh obviously
- 4:25Speaker 1: i wish i took more but i know that it
- 4:28Speaker 1: was annoying like i don't know how mary could like
- 4:30Speaker 1: rectify what she feels which is extreme anger or something
- 4:35Speaker 1: or victimhood but it's funny to me because again like
- 4:39Speaker 1: i already said she could just still take pictures but
- 4:43Speaker 1: she knows she's controlling. And so I'm assuming she just
- 4:45Speaker 1: was constantly wanting people to pose. Okay. So Janelle said
- 4:52Speaker 1: in a very passing comment, but I guess everything is
- 4:55Speaker 1: small and passing. So we'll make a big meal out
- 4:57Speaker 1: of it. Don't worry about it. Janelle says that Maddie
- 4:59Speaker 1: once told her that growing up, that Cody's kids were
- 5:02Speaker 1: his soulmates. Like sure. He loved his wives. Not really.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And definitely not Christine, you know, but he was obsessed
- 5:10Speaker 1: with his kids and he was a great dad. It's
- 5:14Speaker 1: interesting because, you know, surely now the Cody now, like,
- 5:19Speaker 1: doesn't seem to have any sort of relationship or obligation
- 5:25Speaker 1: or responsibility to anyone in the family, seemingly besides Robin,
- 5:28Speaker 1: maybe Robin's kids. And, you know, we saw this kind
- 5:33Speaker 1: of good dad Cody, like, in the early seasons. And...
- 5:37Speaker 1: It must feel so confusing to have that kind of
- 5:40Speaker 1: relationship with a parent where it's so strong and you
- 5:44Speaker 1: feel so loved by this person and it changes. Now,
- 5:49Speaker 1: one thing they have said before, which they didn't bring
- 5:51Speaker 1: up in this one micro moment, was that Cody's also
- 5:54Speaker 1: love of children seemed to stop at a certain age,
- 5:59Speaker 1: like the age of opinion, the age of questioning. Something
- 6:06Speaker 1: about that age or whatever it is for kids, and
- 6:09Speaker 1: it definitely depends, you know, on the personality and probably
- 6:13Speaker 1: like the gender or whatnot of like a certain 12, 14,
- 6:18Speaker 1: 16 kind of person. And I don't think Aurora or
- 6:22Speaker 1: Brianna is ever going to be there. Where they... are
- 6:28Speaker 1: confident in the opinions that they are forming based upon
- 6:31Speaker 1: their own life experiences. And then when they start to
- 6:35Speaker 1: be like, well, this feels right for me and it's
- 6:37Speaker 1: not right for you. Yeah, like a parent, especially a
- 6:42Speaker 1: narcissist who can't wrap their mind or give grace to
- 6:44Speaker 1: a whole other person or many people sharing space with them. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I would just be like, I'm done with you. Let
- 6:51Speaker 1: me go on to the unfortunate baby factory I live
- 6:54Speaker 1: in so that there's always someone younger just like Hollywood
- 6:58Speaker 1: to take your place, you know, anyway. So, but it's
- 7:06Speaker 1: also interesting because on the flip side, he could have
- 7:11Speaker 1: always been a shitty father the whole time, but he was,
- 7:14Speaker 1: he wasn't, there was something that he got from the kids. They,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you know, like he played with them. He obviously played
- 7:20Speaker 1: airplane and they loved him. And like, they all looked
- 7:22Speaker 1: like him. There must've been like, it must be weird.
- 7:26Speaker 1: and I'll never know this. And it must be weird
- 7:32Speaker 1: to be surrounded by a bunch of kids that all
- 7:37Speaker 1: look just like you. Like if you have a parent,
- 7:41Speaker 1: if you're a parent right now, you have, I'm assuming
- 7:44Speaker 1: one to four kids. If you have more, God bless you. Okay.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And then I would have to assume that your one
- 7:51Speaker 1: to four kids were all young at, you know, like
- 7:54Speaker 1: two years or younger, maybe. But to think that Cody
- 7:57Speaker 1: at one point just had like 14 kids with like
- 8:01Speaker 1: two to six months apart of each and they all
- 8:03Speaker 1: had his exact face is like so weird. Like sure,
- 8:06Speaker 1: some of them look like their moms, but like, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 1: when they're kids, it's like, what a weird, trippy, like
- 8:13Speaker 1: ego thing. Because then you have a bunch of Faces
- 8:17Speaker 1: that look like you that are just looking up at
- 8:20Speaker 1: adoration for you. I wonder what that does to a psyche. Okay, great. Anyway,
- 8:31Speaker 1: so these are like the psychiatric experiments you would have
- 8:35Speaker 1: to do like with polygamous people over years. I don't
- 8:37Speaker 1: know how you would do them, but like, would that
- 8:40Speaker 1: kind of years long situation make you And it's like
- 8:48Speaker 1: a deep ego of yourself. You've just... I don't know. Okay,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'll stop talking about it. Anyway, literally nothing could happen
- 9:00Speaker 1: in a 45-minute episode. I'll talk endlessly about one moment. They,
- 9:05Speaker 1: the ladies... find a picture of them all doing like
- 9:09Speaker 1: what they call the plague pose. And the plague pose
- 9:11Speaker 1: is hierarchy. Mary's on top as the first wife and
- 9:14Speaker 1: then Janelle's there. And then Christine, honey is sitting on
- 9:17Speaker 1: the very bottom, that basement wife, honey. Now Mary's like, yeah, Christine,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I really took it personally over this picture, but at
- 9:24Speaker 1: the time she was just pregnant. So we made her
- 9:26Speaker 1: sit down and Christine, honey, like, you know, this is
- 9:29Speaker 1: the picture of trauma that represents her entire life. Janelle's like, look, Sure.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We had long sleeves, but we weren't those other FDLS
- 9:40Speaker 1: people with the braids and the Perry dresses. So, but yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: the long hair, the big, big bangs. Yeah. Yeah. One
- 9:51Speaker 1: thing that is interesting that they all can agree on,
- 9:55Speaker 1: that they all like stand in together is that they
- 10:00Speaker 1: can celebrate they are adults now and we get to
- 10:07Speaker 1: say no. This is something Mary says because Christine, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: is going to say no about not wanting to cook
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the same kitchen as everyone and, you know, like
- 10:17Speaker 1: having that boundary and then not feeling weird about it
- 10:20Speaker 1: and being able to be like, that makes me uncomfortable.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And Mary certainly doesn't want to do certain things with
- 10:24Speaker 1: all of them. And so they all can kind of
- 10:26Speaker 1: agree that they are happy to have an opinion and
- 10:30Speaker 1: be able to live in it. And conversely, they also
- 10:33Speaker 1: talk about the fact that everything that happened pre-Robin was
- 10:38Speaker 1: this team-like effort to never think of each to individuals or,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know, their own selves, but to work on the family,
- 10:47Speaker 1: to like give to the family. And that is one
- 10:50Speaker 1: reason why they say that they were successful because they
- 10:55Speaker 1: worked as a unit. And in a lot of ways,
- 10:58Speaker 1: they were happy to showcase a, I guess, working unit
- 11:04Speaker 1: plague family, right? And they all felt like they had
- 11:07Speaker 1: a place. it's just crazy that they decide to do
- 11:12Speaker 1: a reality show. They move, Robin comes in and it
- 11:16Speaker 1: all falls apart because I can see how seemingly they
- 11:20Speaker 1: were cogs in a machine. And yes, you have to
- 11:23Speaker 1: just bite your tongue and say, you know, and just
- 11:25Speaker 1: keep on, keep on and never really have, you know,
- 11:28Speaker 1: your own say of what you want to do because
- 11:30Speaker 1: of this. Right. Like all of that is true. So
- 11:34Speaker 1: it's just, yeah, it's, It's part, I guess, of them
- 11:39Speaker 1: all understanding the journey that they are taking separately, but
- 11:42Speaker 1: as well as like together. They're obviously going to always
- 11:46Speaker 1: be this understanding between these three women that no one
- 11:53Speaker 1: else in the world gets. Not other polyg families because
- 11:56Speaker 1: they've been on TV. Like, you know, not their friends
- 12:00Speaker 1: that they like better. Christine and Janelle hate Mary. but
- 12:07Speaker 1: Mary was there and was a part of it. Anyway,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I would love, and they don't do it, like I
- 12:15Speaker 1: really would love to watch them be in therapy and
- 12:19Speaker 1: talk about this because they have been, they talk about
- 12:22Speaker 1: it and you can hear the verbiage, but it's just
- 12:25Speaker 1: so crazy. So this is where Christine, I guess, proposes
- 12:29Speaker 1: an RV trip. And we talk about camping. We know
- 12:31Speaker 1: Christine hated camping with the family. We know why. It's because...
- 12:36Speaker 1: She says there was three wives, one Cody. And so
- 12:38Speaker 1: Cody would just help set up the tent of whoever
- 12:41Speaker 1: wife he was with. And it wasn't Christine usually. And Christine,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you know, had all them kids and couldn't set things
- 12:47Speaker 1: up and she has ADHD and she would just have
- 12:49Speaker 1: to like set up, cook, clean, put away. And it
- 12:54Speaker 1: was just a constant work, not being in your space
- 12:59Speaker 1: for absolutely no glory. And that's why when Robin came
- 13:03Speaker 1: and Robin wouldn't be doing any of that because she'd
- 13:07Speaker 1: be like, sorry, Christine, I can't do breakfast. I'm braiding
- 13:10Speaker 1: my hair. She'd be livid. And meanwhile, Cody's like, I
- 13:16Speaker 1: love a hot woman. Thanks for taking the time to
- 13:19Speaker 1: make yourself look good for me. You know, like Christine,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it was a nightmare for Christine. And Christine doesn't have
- 13:26Speaker 1: to share money with everyone now. So Christine could do
- 13:28Speaker 1: things like buy a mobile home and be like, I
- 13:31Speaker 1: live in a room now with my husband. Fake fireplace.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck about a tent. It's funny,
- 13:41Speaker 1: both Janelle and Christine have made mention, and Janelle in
- 13:44Speaker 1: this episode, over never wanting to deal with a man
- 13:47Speaker 1: that's vain ever again. Or that's into aesthetics. Because I think, yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I think there was, because of that, a pressure he
- 13:57Speaker 1: put on them, as well as a priority where he
- 14:01Speaker 1: wouldn't deliver on things that had to happen for the
- 14:03Speaker 1: family because he was prioritizing his own looks or the
- 14:07Speaker 1: looks of like certain toys, like cars and stuff. And
- 14:11Speaker 1: we knew that early on because one of the first things,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I mean, maybe the clockiest clock where I knew this
- 14:18Speaker 1: was going to be a weird fucking thing was season one,
- 14:22Speaker 1: like episode, I mean, one. Cody has a family. with
- 14:29Speaker 1: all these kids, three wives getting a fourth, and somehow
- 14:35Speaker 1: his brain thought it'd be okay to spend an obscene
- 14:40Speaker 1: amount of money on some two-seater, was it a Lexus convertible?
- 14:46Speaker 1: What was that? It was like that Lexus convertible. I
- 14:49Speaker 1: remember my cousin and I looked at that and we
- 14:51Speaker 1: were like, what? What? Because it was obvious just like
- 15:04Speaker 1: by the day-to-day life that these people aren't super wealthy.
- 15:09Speaker 1: That's one of like, what, three cars? You can't have
- 15:11Speaker 1: that car. That makes no logical sense. It means you're
- 15:15Speaker 1: prioritizing shit. That's like not it. Janelle also hates Cody
- 15:18Speaker 1: for the fact that Cody would, I guess, never do things.
- 15:22Speaker 1: She is very passive aggressive about what she does now
- 15:25Speaker 1: in her life, sans Cody, and I guess in relationship
- 15:29Speaker 1: to her daughter. that in Caleb, which is that they're doers.
- 15:33Speaker 1: You know, it's so interesting the way that she can
- 15:35Speaker 1: talk about that. So anyway, when Christine proposes them all
- 15:39Speaker 1: going on a camping trip, Mary's like, what the fuck
- 15:41Speaker 1: are you talking about? Are you crazy? Bitch, we're just
- 15:44Speaker 1: seeing each other for the first time and you didn't
- 15:45Speaker 1: even want to see me. So why would I, or
- 15:47Speaker 1: why would you think it'd be okay? Or how are
- 15:48Speaker 1: we going to even navigate going on a camping trip?
- 15:51Speaker 1: You don't even want to cook in the same kitchen
- 15:52Speaker 1: as me. Camping is more than one hour, more than
- 15:57Speaker 1: one day stuck in the with not even your own
- 16:02Speaker 1: comforts that can at least like relieve you. And I
- 16:05Speaker 1: get it. Like Mary's right. And Mary, the funny thing
- 16:12Speaker 1: is Mary is like, Christine's crazy for that. So Mary
- 16:14Speaker 1: can't wrap her mind around the fact that Christine never
- 16:17Speaker 1: wants to cook with her again. And Mary goes back
- 16:19Speaker 1: and forth to being like, maybe I was controlling. Maybe
- 16:23Speaker 1: I was. I just, Mary certainly feels like Christine, it
- 16:28Speaker 1: was a slob. And that's weird because Cody also was like,
- 16:33Speaker 1: she ate so sloppily. And Mary, to me, and this
- 16:37Speaker 1: is my interpretation, is like, look, when you share a
- 16:40Speaker 1: kitchen with someone, some people want to clean the dishes
- 16:45Speaker 1: right after they're done eating. And some people will wait
- 16:48Speaker 1: till the end of the day. And then some people
- 16:50Speaker 1: think it's okay to wait till the next day. And
- 16:53Speaker 1: that's Christine. Disgusting, sloppy Christine. And so I, and it's like,
- 16:59Speaker 1: I want to be like two things. First of all, Mary,
- 17:03Speaker 1: if the dishes needed to be cleaned, could you not
- 17:07Speaker 1: just clean them? Were you controlling because you thought it
- 17:12Speaker 1: was your bossy boss boss first wife hat to like
- 17:15Speaker 1: tell people what to do? It's like, I'm assuming, and
- 17:20Speaker 1: I've never been in like a multi-person household like that,
- 17:25Speaker 1: that if something you want needs to be done, you
- 17:30Speaker 1: have the option of, if you have someone that's really
- 17:32Speaker 1: great at doing it, asking them and then maybe doing
- 17:35Speaker 1: something for their behalf. But if not, just get it done.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Just do it then. What was Mary doing besides washing
- 17:43Speaker 1: dishes to like be mad at someone for not washing dishes? Okay.
- 17:48Speaker 1: So it's funny because Mary really is like, is it
- 17:59Speaker 1: cooking that she doesn't want to do with us is
- 18:01Speaker 1: it the space just being in this small space is
- 18:04Speaker 1: it me and i'm gonna be like girl it's you
- 18:06Speaker 1: it's surely you because christine's friend with janelle they've already
- 18:13Speaker 1: cooked together there's only one other person like left in
- 18:15Speaker 1: this room and yeah she doesn't want to cook with
- 18:18Speaker 1: robin but we all feel like robin didn't cook so
- 18:22Speaker 1: moot point Mary says something also small and interesting. At
- 18:28Speaker 1: one point, she's like, you know what? This meeting is
- 18:30Speaker 1: illuminating the fact that I need to do more work
- 18:32Speaker 1: on myself because I'm sure it's triggering for her. And
- 18:36Speaker 1: you might think, and it's funny because like, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 1: mental health is a journey, right? And there's so many
- 18:40Speaker 1: different aspects of it. Some people get on medication and
- 18:45Speaker 1: have therapy and, you know, things are going well. And
- 18:47Speaker 1: then they start to be like, oh, I got this.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I don't need the medication. And sometimes they're right. And
- 18:53Speaker 1: sometimes they're not right. You just never, it's hard to
- 18:57Speaker 1: judge yourself. It's hard to see how you're doing because,
- 18:59Speaker 1: you know, there's so many, you know, factors. The mind-body
- 19:03Speaker 1: connection is hard. Okay, so basically Christine says Janelle was chill, obviously,
- 19:10Speaker 1: but Mary wasn't. Christine's like, Mary was hard, really hard
- 19:20Speaker 1: to live with. Really hard. I mean, it takes her
- 19:32Speaker 1: 45 years to get through that sentence, and we really
- 19:34Speaker 1: can feel it. It certainly does feel like it was hard.
- 19:38Speaker 1: They talk about Cody and Robin not filming, and Christine's like, well,
- 19:42Speaker 1: it's their way of doing their own thing. And Janelle's like, woohoo!
- 19:46Speaker 1: Christine says Robin you know, not going on the apology
- 19:51Speaker 1: tour was telling that she sort of like assumed that
- 19:53Speaker 1: Robin would because David did. Now, both Janelle and Mary
- 19:56Speaker 1: was like, oh, thank fucking God. Janelle was like. I
- 19:59Speaker 1: don't want fucking Robin there. Robin wasn't there for the
- 20:02Speaker 1: majority of our relationship. Why would she have to be
- 20:04Speaker 1: there now? Now, Mary says something that I also love.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Mary is like, oh my God, I'm so happy that
- 20:11Speaker 1: fucking Robin wasn't there. Because every time Robin is around,
- 20:17Speaker 1: she feels the need to interpret, sorry, interpret Cody to me. Bitch,
- 20:27Speaker 1: I met Cody when Cody was 17. I had been
- 20:31Speaker 1: hearing that person's voice for the entirety of my life. What,
- 20:35Speaker 1: you think I just fucking landed here? You think I
- 20:37Speaker 1: don't understand the language this asshole speaks? What are you
- 20:42Speaker 1: talking about? I think that is so wildly entitled that
- 20:46Speaker 1: Robin had done that and continued to do that. And
- 20:49Speaker 1: I think that in Robin's mind, she's like, no, no, no, no.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's just that Cody and I are soulmates. I speak Cody.
- 20:56Speaker 1: She says that a bunch. I speak Cody. So crazy
- 20:59Speaker 1: because before I got here, Cody didn't understand how to
- 21:02Speaker 1: communicate with any of these women. They didn't have any
- 21:04Speaker 1: sort of working unit that ever worked. I'm glad I'm
- 21:08Speaker 1: here because what I do is I take Cody's words
- 21:12Speaker 1: and I soften them. I make them palatable for you
- 21:16Speaker 1: while also making sure Cody's true motives, the fact that
- 21:21Speaker 1: he hates all of you and only wants to be
- 21:22Speaker 1: with me and we're just lying to you guys in
- 21:24Speaker 1: order to spend every moment and money of you guys,
- 21:27Speaker 1: every moment together and all the money of this family together.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I want to make sure, because I'm smarter than him,
- 21:33Speaker 1: that I can keep that up by interpreting all of
- 21:36Speaker 1: him to you. Like that is what Robin did. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: Mary was like, what the fuck? Because the truth of
- 21:41Speaker 1: the matter is there was no need for Robin to
- 21:44Speaker 1: interpret Cody to Mary. Cody couldn't even talk to Mary
- 21:49Speaker 1: because he hated her. So all Robin did is lie
- 21:52Speaker 1: to Mary. Oh no, he wants to, you know, just
- 21:55Speaker 1: keep on, keep on, just staying, staying. Like Robin wanted
- 21:58Speaker 1: to keep the family together. So Robin's whole agenda was that,
- 22:01Speaker 1: despite the fact that Cody was a mean asshole to
- 22:04Speaker 1: everyone else in the family and they didn't deserve that. Fuck,
- 22:10Speaker 1: fuck Robin. Okay. So anyway, okay. So... That's just interesting
- 22:15Speaker 1: to me. Christine supposes to them, well, what would happen?
- 22:19Speaker 1: What would have happened if then when Robin came into
- 22:21Speaker 1: the family, if Cody had just had the confidence, the
- 22:29Speaker 1: strength to realize that he surely had fallen in love
- 22:33Speaker 1: with this person who, and he had never experienced love
- 22:35Speaker 1: like this before. And, um, he never wanted to ever
- 22:38Speaker 1: have to deal with anyone else again. Why he couldn't
- 22:41Speaker 1: just come to us in that moment and acknowledge the
- 22:43Speaker 1: fact that he's now in love And let us all
- 22:45Speaker 1: go like on our merry ways. No pun intended, Mary,
- 22:50Speaker 1: because you're literally the most anti-Mary. You are literally anti-Mary. Happy, whatever,
- 22:57Speaker 1: not being beholden to some asshole for 10 more years
- 23:00Speaker 1: watching this happen. Why couldn't that have happened? And, you know,
- 23:04Speaker 1: Janelle's like, well, I don't think he would be willing
- 23:06Speaker 1: to admit that. And Mary was like, honey, he didn't know.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And then this kind of ends with Mary being like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I need to have a conversation with Christine before anything happens.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Because like if we're going to hang out again and
- 23:16Speaker 1: she said she hates me, like what the fuck am
- 23:18Speaker 1: I supposed to do around her? Which I get. So
- 23:20Speaker 1: then we kind of break up and we get all
- 23:22Speaker 1: this women having their own like, you know, rest of
- 23:24Speaker 1: the episode solo scenes. Mary's the next scene. Mary and Ron,
- 23:29Speaker 1: we remember him. Ron's been lifting weights on me and
- 23:31Speaker 1: he's definitely tan. Go floating down a river. She makes
- 23:34Speaker 1: a sex joke because now Mary is ready to fucking
- 23:36Speaker 1: put it in, right? She's lost some LBs and she,
- 23:39Speaker 1: you know, is horny. She makes a sex joke about
- 23:41Speaker 1: going all the way down the river, and he doesn't
- 23:44Speaker 1: pick up on it. He's a little daft. He says
- 23:49Speaker 1: he wants to go slow, and surely I feel like
- 23:52Speaker 1: he is. I don't think I could have the patience
- 23:56Speaker 1: for this person. But Mary's a different person, so good
- 24:00Speaker 1: for her. She keeps saying that he's really nice, and
- 24:04Speaker 1: therefore a romantic relationship is a possibility. She also says
- 24:08Speaker 1: that he's a really chill guy. That's why she likes
- 24:11Speaker 1: him because she's that as well. And I feel like
- 24:13Speaker 1: I wish Christine could just pop up and be like,
- 24:15Speaker 1: what did you just say? Bitch, you ain't chill. I
- 24:20Speaker 1: didn't see you chill in that kitchen. Does Mary know herself?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Mary's just like, I'm just a chill, funny girl. Okay.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So then she's like, well, okay, maybe I have my
- 24:32Speaker 1: moments of not being chill. I'm like, girl, pick a lane.
- 24:34Speaker 1: You just know yourself. He then says, Mary, they're like
- 24:38Speaker 1: floating down a river, honey, lazy river, but you know,
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's not one in a hotel. He's like, I like
- 24:43Speaker 1: spending time with you. You're easy to spend time with
- 24:45Speaker 1: and you're funny. And they hold hands. Now he's of
- 24:48Speaker 1: course says the two things that I say that she's not,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and she has always wanted to be. So when he
- 24:52Speaker 1: says that she is ecstatic, she squeals. She's like, you
- 24:56Speaker 1: see the joy leave her, like having to leave her body.
- 24:58Speaker 1: She can't even deal with it. She's like, thank you.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Thank you for thinking that I'm funny. I love when
- 25:04Speaker 1: people think I'm funny because I am. they go to
- 25:08Speaker 1: dinner and then he's like, well, how's dating? And she's like, good.
- 25:18Speaker 1: She doesn't know how to act around people. And I
- 25:20Speaker 1: get it. Sometimes she's like, I don't know how to
- 25:21Speaker 1: act around Christine. I don't know how to act around him.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Are we dating? What do you mean? Dating you? Am
- 25:26Speaker 1: I supposed to act how you, am I supposed to
- 25:28Speaker 1: also ask how's dating life for you? And then what
- 25:30Speaker 1: do you tell me about the women you're not sleeping with.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. And then
- 25:35Speaker 1: just sit here and listen to that. So I'm not
- 25:37Speaker 1: one of them. Like, it's a very weird respect thing, right?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Maybe he's just trying to break the ice. He's like,
- 25:43Speaker 1: I want to move slow because women often want to
- 25:45Speaker 1: jump into a relationship after the second or third day
- 25:48Speaker 1: with me. Have you seen me? I own a business
- 25:50Speaker 1: and I'm tall. Mary's like, yeah, you do own a
- 25:53Speaker 1: business and you're tall. Check, check. And you think I'm funny.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'll never find that ever again. And Mary's like, oh,
- 26:08Speaker 1: are you slow? You move slow? I didn't notice. Tell
- 26:12Speaker 1: me more. Then he says that he has avoidant tendencies.
- 26:21Speaker 1: He almost starts to cry talking about this. Like he
- 26:25Speaker 1: can avoid people because the thought of getting hurt is
- 26:28Speaker 1: too much. He certainly is avoidant. If you are one,
- 26:36Speaker 1: if you could turn around and be like, I'm avoidant
- 26:37Speaker 1: and also be like, I'm, I'm, I go really slow.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Like I just, sometimes I'm like, if you really like
- 26:46Speaker 1: someone though. wouldn't you want to see them? Like, wouldn't
- 26:49Speaker 1: you want to have sex with them a little bit?
- 26:51Speaker 1: I don't know. It's like, how big, they've been like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: this is two seasons. We know that there's like four
- 26:56Speaker 1: years between seasons of sister wives. They've been hanging out
- 26:59Speaker 1: for a long time. Okay. Christine. Oh my God. Christmas.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Christine bought a motor home. God bless honey. Cause she
- 27:07Speaker 1: gets to now have a separate bedroom with her man, honey,
- 27:10Speaker 1: her monogamous man. And I said, there was a fake fireplace.
- 27:13Speaker 1: So do I, um, And she's telling David, who never
- 27:17Speaker 1: wants to hear about her past ever again, about her past,
- 27:19Speaker 1: but most notably recent past, about the weekend that she
- 27:22Speaker 1: spent with Mary, you know, and they were happy and
- 27:24Speaker 1: they had photos and they switched. And then she's like, yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 1: I just don't know what to do. I asked them,
- 27:30Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with my ring or
- 27:32Speaker 1: their rings. He's like, oh, I think you should all
- 27:34Speaker 1: melt them down. She's like, yes, yes. And he's like,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and then make one big ring. And she's like, what?
- 27:39Speaker 1: And he's like, give it to Cody. And she's like,
- 27:45Speaker 1: Why did I marry you? Dumbass, dumbass suggestions like this.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Then David says that this doesn't feel like his home.
- 27:55Speaker 1: And Christine has to deal with the fact that Cody
- 27:57Speaker 1: said the same thing. And that Christine, I guess, has
- 27:59Speaker 1: her own, you know, moments of controlling this. Where I
- 28:02Speaker 1: guess that she just like takes over spaces. I'm like,
- 28:09Speaker 1: is it because he can't decorate? What? Listen, I'm not
- 28:12Speaker 1: saying Christine has the best style, but I know David's
- 28:14Speaker 1: decorations are going to be horrible. Is it just that
- 28:18Speaker 1: he doesn't know where things are? Does he ask her
- 28:23Speaker 1: where things are all the time? He doesn't want to
- 28:25Speaker 1: figure it out? Anyway. She's like, I'm still figuring out
- 28:31Speaker 1: how to, you know, deal with being married to one person.
- 28:34Speaker 1: A partner. Someone I have to create a life with
- 28:38Speaker 1: instead of just dealing with the life that I'm given.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And that is interesting. Okay, Janelle, honey, Janelle says she's
- 28:45Speaker 1: going to meet with dating coach Elizabeth Overstreet. And she's
- 28:48Speaker 1: not really a dating coach. She says relationship strategist, which
- 28:52Speaker 1: I found interesting. Because that's a new set of words.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I was like, what does that mean? And it basically
- 28:59Speaker 1: felt like Janelle was like, paid some woman or not,
- 29:02Speaker 1: just to stand in front of her and be like,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I don't know if I want to date. I don't
- 29:06Speaker 1: even know if I'm open to it, but I'll tell
- 29:07Speaker 1: you what I'm not going to do. The major easy
- 29:10Speaker 1: way people usually date now, which is sites. I'm not
- 29:13Speaker 1: going to have people swipe on me. Like, girl, you
- 29:16Speaker 1: don't even know what happens. She brings up being married
- 29:21Speaker 1: to Mary's brother, Adam, which happened before, of course, she
- 29:24Speaker 1: married Cody, which I guess Mary has some sort of way,
- 29:26Speaker 1: but Janelle almost wants to be like, well, we were
- 29:27Speaker 1: married to I was married to Mary's brother, Adam, but
- 29:30Speaker 1: it was basically for like three to four months we
- 29:32Speaker 1: lived together and it was done 11 months after. And
- 29:34Speaker 1: then I had my aha moment with Cody and then
- 29:36Speaker 1: somehow two or three years later I married him and
- 29:39Speaker 1: I never understood why Mary was weird with me. I
- 29:45Speaker 1: did a deep dive of like why people think that
- 29:48Speaker 1: Cody married everyone. People think that Cody was in love
- 29:51Speaker 1: with Mary and or young and wanted to bone. People
- 29:54Speaker 1: think that, you know, after a couple of years that
- 29:55Speaker 1: Mary wasn't producing the kids and then Janelle came along
- 29:58Speaker 1: and Janelle was like obsessed with him and he was like, okay, Janelle.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And then people think that, you know, he got influenced
- 30:04Speaker 1: to marry Christine because her dad was like polygamous royalty.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And her dad was like, you better marry my daughter.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I guess Christine was older than at 23 than Janelle
- 30:12Speaker 1: and Mary were when he got married. So I think
- 30:14Speaker 1: it was like a little bit like, oh, no, we
- 30:16Speaker 1: have to get married. We have to marry off this daughter.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And so I think the overwhelming theory, and this is
- 30:22Speaker 1: from Reddit that I read, not me, was that Cody's
- 30:26Speaker 1: all of Cody's like sacrifice. I had to sacrifice. Was
- 30:31Speaker 1: him being like, I sacrificed to marry you. Christina never
- 30:34Speaker 1: loved you. Your dad made me do this. And you
- 30:36Speaker 1: were the one that left first. Which I think is
- 30:42Speaker 1: so weird. Janelle though said Cody and her never really
- 30:46Speaker 1: had an identity as a couple and that he never
- 30:49Speaker 1: would take accountability when things went wrong. She said he
- 30:53Speaker 1: started to control like the kids. And that's like when
- 30:55Speaker 1: she was like over it. Because at one point, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 1: she was like, sure, I'll let you control me. But
- 31:00Speaker 1: now that my adult kids are grown, I'm not letting
- 31:02Speaker 1: you fucking boss them around. And ultimately, it was a
- 31:05Speaker 1: burden to stay married. She wants a deep guy, not
- 31:09Speaker 1: just someone who cares about his looks. I'm like, she
- 31:13Speaker 1: wants to have like philosophical, philosophical, philosophical, philosophy. Philosophy. philosophical. Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You know, here's the thing. I have to really talk
- 31:30Speaker 1: myself into words and you hear me do it all
- 31:34Speaker 1: the time. It's because I like can hear something and
- 31:38Speaker 1: then when my mouth gets around it, it certainly doesn't
- 31:40Speaker 1: sound the same. Anyway, she just wants a kind and
- 31:45Speaker 1: normal person. But she's really close-minded. So basically, she won't
- 31:49Speaker 1: let this relationship strategist give her any real good strategies
- 31:56Speaker 1: that are active about dating. She's basically like, I don't
- 31:59Speaker 1: know if I want to do this. I'm trying to
- 32:01Speaker 1: think if I'm open to it, but I know what
- 32:02Speaker 1: I don't want. And so the strategist is like, okay, well,
- 32:06Speaker 1: thanks for wasting my time. Just if you ever decide
- 32:11Speaker 1: to open anything, your heart, your mind to anything, I just...
- 32:14Speaker 1: Good luck out there. You know, but you know, obviously,
- 32:16Speaker 1: as we know, the season's going to go on and
- 32:18Speaker 1: we're going to meet Janelle's new boo, honey. And Janelle
- 32:21Speaker 1: has to get over the fact that she's like, I
- 32:22Speaker 1: never want to live with someone again, but I also
- 32:24Speaker 1: kind of want companionship like three days a week, sometime
- 32:28Speaker 1: like every other weekend, which I get, I get. All right,
- 32:33Speaker 1: my loves. Thank you so much for listening. If you
- 32:36Speaker 1: haven't yet, consider giving me five stars wherever you listen

- 33:28Speaker 1: present breaths to kind of bring us all together. Just
- 33:32Speaker 1: give yourself this gift of this present moment. Don't think
- 33:35Speaker 1: about the past. That's what David hates. Don't think about
