- 0:01Speaker 1: In this corner, standing at six foot five, weight class unknowns,
- 0:04Speaker 1: but hailing from the city of Sands.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Put your hands together for Jamison will and in this
- 0:09Speaker 2: then in.
- 0:09Speaker 1: At five foot ten, weighing in at pound and coming
- 0:14Speaker 1: to us from his super secret bunker with no AC
- 0:17Speaker 1: in Tucson, Arizona. Put your hands together for Luis Montemao.
- 0:24Speaker 1: All right, welcome to another of Miss w podcast of ors.
- 0:28Speaker 1: On one half of the show, I'm Jamison, joined by
- 0:30Speaker 1: the Luis as always Louise.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What's going on, man, Jamison? I am so excited to
- 0:35Speaker 2: be here recording episode thirty five. Before we get into
- 0:38Speaker 2: anything else, I just gotta do a little bit of
- 0:41Speaker 2: recap from an event I went to last week. I
- 0:43Speaker 2: told you about it, and it was the coolest thing
- 0:46Speaker 2: that's ever happened to me. I got invited, well, the
- 0:49Speaker 2: show got invited to a media day in Phoenix for
- 0:54Speaker 2: the Navarete versus Nunyaz fight happening in February twenty eighth.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So if you're not if you're just listening to us
- 1:02Speaker 2: to us on audio, you can check out our YouTube channel.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I got some pictures I'm gonna pop up here. But yeah,
- 1:07Speaker 2: it was just a media luncheon. Get in there. The
- 1:11Speaker 2: fighters are there, sorry, the main event fighters are Thereunez,
- 1:16Speaker 2: but also friend of the show, Trinia Choa was at
- 1:20Speaker 2: the event. He's gonna be fighting on the twenty eighth.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We interviewed him before. Got another guy named Jordan Martinez,
- 1:26Speaker 2: also from from Arizona, and it was so cool. It
- 1:30Speaker 2: was just the coolest thing to be able to be
- 1:33Speaker 2: in that mix. You know, I'm showing some behind the
- 1:35Speaker 2: scenes pictures that I took, but I got in there
- 1:37Speaker 2: to actually interview Navarete Nunez and got some video. By
- 1:42Speaker 2: the time this drops, I'll have a mini episode up
- 1:47Speaker 2: on our YouTube of the event and you know the
- 1:50Speaker 2: interview he's there, so uh yeah, and we've got a
- 1:53Speaker 2: picture here of the five fighters that were at this event,
- 1:56Speaker 2: and it was it was so cool. I got a
- 1:58Speaker 2: like there were other people there were legit journalists you
- 2:01Speaker 2: know with your publications and you know, other podcasts, TV shows,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and it was just awesome, so huge. Thanks to Emily Gerden,
- 2:10Speaker 2: also friend of the show, for extending the invite. Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 2: she got to me last week and said, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 2: come on down. We're happy to have you. And I
- 2:18Speaker 2: don't know, man, I didn't expect to get to this
- 2:22Speaker 2: point with the show because I'm just a regular dude,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:25Speaker 3: But it was.
- 2:26Speaker 2: It was awesome. So you've done some of these events before,
- 2:28Speaker 2: so I mean, what's your vibe on it? Because I
- 2:30Speaker 2: just thought it was amazing.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It all depends on what the five is. So vin's
- 2:34Speaker 1: a serious like if it's a mega fight, it's a
- 2:36Speaker 1: mega fight. You got all kinds of people in there
- 2:39Speaker 1: from all of them backgrounds. It is what it is.
- 2:41Speaker 1: You get it when you fit in, You interview who
- 2:43Speaker 1: you can, and you go on about your day. You
- 2:45Speaker 1: made the best of the situation, right. So the big
- 2:48Speaker 1: events we have here in Vegas you get. You if
- 2:50Speaker 1: you have a chance to interview a former boxer or
- 2:53Speaker 1: a trainer or a celebrity, you do it, and then
- 2:55Speaker 1: whatever content you get, you make it work for what
- 2:58Speaker 1: you get. You went to a more smaller event to
- 3:01Speaker 1: where you kind of pick and choose who you want
- 3:03Speaker 1: to interview, what question you have and whatnot, and the
- 3:06Speaker 1: bigger events you don't have that.
- 3:08Speaker 3: You gotta have the freestyle because you don't know who
- 3:09Speaker 3: you gonna get.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You might get winky, right, you might get an old judge,
- 3:13Speaker 1: You might get an old fight promoter, you might get
- 3:16Speaker 1: a sleb it out of the box.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It just depends.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But it's good to have that experience because all the
- 3:20Speaker 1: events are dope, whether it's a smaller event or big event,
- 3:22Speaker 1: they're all adult because it's boxing. We love boxing, so
- 3:25Speaker 1: being able to speak boxing is always cool with people.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I was told a couple people there and everybody
- 3:31Speaker 2: was super friendly mine you. I said, you know, it
- 3:33Speaker 2: was my first media event, so people actually gave me
- 3:35Speaker 2: some advice. I said, all right, you know, talk to
- 3:36Speaker 2: this guy. He'll actually you know, introduce the fighter to you.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Like I had people bring me up and say, come on,
- 3:41Speaker 2: you know, it's your turn chat with Chat with nunia Is,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and you just kind of wait in line, and occasionally
- 3:47Speaker 2: they would say the promoter would say, all right, we're
- 3:49Speaker 2: gonna do a face off, so all the photographers get
- 3:52Speaker 2: in here and just take pictures. All right, we're gonna
- 3:54Speaker 2: do all the fighters, you know, in line take pictures.
- 3:56Speaker 2: So everybody just crowds up, and it was I didn't
- 4:00Speaker 2: have to like, you know, fight through forty people to
- 4:02Speaker 2: get there. You know, there's probably less than forty people
- 4:04Speaker 2: total the entire thing, including promo people, photographers, all that stuff.
- 4:08Speaker 2: So it was probably the best of all worlds because
- 4:13Speaker 2: it is a legitimate you know, legitimate fighter is legitimate
- 4:15Speaker 2: event through matchrom boxing and not some no offense to
- 4:17Speaker 2: anybody fighting locally, but you know, it's not like a
- 4:20Speaker 2: like a riggy big fight in the warehouse, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 2: a smoker or anything.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So definitely definitely working together. It looked organized for the
- 4:28Speaker 1: most part. But it's always good to be able to
- 4:31Speaker 1: have like that in your own backyard. Like so people
- 4:33Speaker 1: have to travel to those things, so having in your
- 4:35Speaker 1: own backyard is even better.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely so a million thanks to Emily Boxing on
- 4:42Speaker 2: social media. Make sure you give her a follow. Thanks
- 4:45Speaker 2: to Triny for talking to us again. And Triny, this
- 4:49Speaker 2: is actually his biggest boxing event ever, so I'm very
- 4:51Speaker 2: excited to see the actual fight on February twenty eighth
- 4:54Speaker 2: Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Definitely check it out
- 4:58Speaker 2: if you're in the area, and if not, no matter what,
- 5:01Speaker 2: you gotta watch it even on TV because always puts
- 5:04Speaker 2: on a show for sure. Cool. So yeah, so let's uh,
- 5:08Speaker 2: let's dive into today's episode. We actually have something very
- 5:10Speaker 2: special for you all today. You know, we've been reviewed
- 5:13Speaker 2: pro boxers, journalists, we have interview promoters Al Bernstein, the
- 5:19Speaker 2: voice of professional boxing. But we never forget where we're
- 5:22Speaker 2: coming from. Where we come from, we never forget our roots.
- 5:24Speaker 2: We are sports podcasters of the people. So I actually
- 5:27Speaker 2: wanted to bring a buddy of mine onto the show
- 5:29Speaker 2: to do like a roundtable discussion. This guy, he's a
- 5:32Speaker 2: friend that I've known for like kind of at least
- 5:34Speaker 2: ten years. We've known each other from you know, the
- 5:37Speaker 2: craft beer scene in Tucson, and I'm sure he won't
- 5:40Speaker 2: object to me saying like, this guy's nobody. He's just
- 5:42Speaker 2: like buddy of mine that loves talking boxing. So we
- 5:45Speaker 2: want to have somebody that just loves the sport as
- 5:48Speaker 2: much as we do. So welcome to the ring, mister
- 5:50Speaker 2: Tony Zamanano.
- 5:52Speaker 4: How's it going, Hell, you guys, how's it going? Thanks
- 5:54Speaker 4: for having me on.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I appreciate you being here. You know, you're the first
- 5:59Speaker 2: of this type of game. So, like I said, round table,
- 6:02Speaker 2: you know, just kind of free flow and discussion, and
- 6:05Speaker 2: we're excited to get into it. But first, just so
- 6:06Speaker 2: that people know, you know your bona fytes, tell us
- 6:09Speaker 2: about your love of boxing, where it came from? And
- 6:12Speaker 2: how long you've been a boxing fan?
- 6:14Speaker 5: Man, as long as I can remember, you know, growing
- 6:17Speaker 5: up with you know, the son of a Mexican immigrant
- 6:20Speaker 5: here in southern Arizona, growing up in the Jula Traves days,
- 6:23Speaker 5: the late Mike Tyson days, the Marca days, watching Paciao fight,
- 6:29Speaker 5: having family in Tijuana and seeing Edique Morales throwing down
- 6:35Speaker 5: or Mato metal Pie doing his thing. You know, a
- 6:42Speaker 5: Tucson native now, you know, just all these Mexican fighters
- 6:45Speaker 5: or something that ran rich in my home. You know,
- 6:47Speaker 5: I remember sitting around a twenty four inch tube TV
- 6:52Speaker 5: watching uh, you know, some of those early HBO pay
- 6:55Speaker 5: per views uh, and and just sitting in a family setting,
- 7:01Speaker 5: you know, all losing our minds over boxing. So I'm
- 7:03Speaker 5: just a dude who grew up around it, grew up
- 7:05Speaker 5: appreciating it, and was fortunate enough to see some good
- 7:08Speaker 5: fighters along the way.
- 7:10Speaker 2: As the kids say today, you do ball. I got
- 7:14Speaker 2: to ask pay per view fights with your family paid
- 7:18Speaker 2: for them or illegal cable box you can say now
- 7:20Speaker 2: with the statute of limitation.
- 7:21Speaker 4: No, we paid for them.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Man. We predate the bootleg fire stick, you know, so
- 7:26Speaker 5: we had no choice but to pay for them. But
- 7:28Speaker 5: it was a copeaca, right, everyone was contributing those ten bucks.
- 7:32Speaker 5: Obviously pay per views didn't cost what they do today.
- 7:34Speaker 5: But yeah, man, I've just been around in my whole
- 7:37Speaker 5: life and something I always just loved watching as a
- 7:40Speaker 5: sports fan.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It's awesome. Do you remember one particular fight that really
- 7:44Speaker 2: got you hooked on the sport or just generally the vibe?
- 7:49Speaker 5: The vibe for sure, It's definitely not one moment, right,
- 7:54Speaker 5: but there were a lot of great rivalries. I mean,
- 7:55Speaker 5: seeing the end of not the end, but the tail
- 7:59Speaker 5: end of Hulus Jravis's career, the passing of the torch
- 8:03Speaker 5: to the Mexican American kid, right, the golden boy oscar Laoya,
- 8:08Speaker 5: and just seeing those transitions as fighters. But I would
- 8:10Speaker 5: say my favorite boxing moment is actually several moments, and
- 8:14Speaker 5: I would say those those Barreda Morales frights. That trilogy
- 8:18Speaker 5: is some of the best boxing on tape in my
- 8:20Speaker 5: lifetime in my opinion.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Hell yeah, I'm glad you mentioned Ascadelia being the Mexican
- 8:26Speaker 2: American person taking on the torch. I gotta admit this,
- 8:28Speaker 2: I kind of messed this up last week. I was interviewed.
- 8:31Speaker 2: When I was interviewing at the word of the nun
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeas from Sinaloa, I was talking about how we have
- 8:35Speaker 2: maybe less boxing starts than we did back in my day.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I said, you know the Mexican names like Oscar Laya,
- 8:41Speaker 2: and I commented, you can tell. He kind of went hmmm.
- 8:44Speaker 2: An answered because I know that man is from Mixiko.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He definitely probably is not a fan of Deloya. But
- 8:50Speaker 2: that was I was nervous. It was my first event,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know.
- 8:53Speaker 5: No, that's an easy mistake to make. I also think,
- 8:56Speaker 5: you know, when you're in the circuit, you know a
- 8:58Speaker 5: lot of the guys that maybe even you and I
- 9:00Speaker 5: and Jamison don't know yet. You know, as much as
- 9:03Speaker 5: we watch, as much as we're fans, those guys are
- 9:05Speaker 5: in the thick of it, so they know who's who out.
- 9:07Speaker 2: There, absolutely absolutely, So uh, you know, apologies to anyone
- 9:11Speaker 2: who's any Mexican fighter from Mexico who hates yeah for equaiting,
- 9:16Speaker 2: but not you know, hey, hey, uh, we're both Mexican
- 9:20Speaker 2: American as well, so we were. We support the Laya's
- 9:23Speaker 2: rain in the in that era. So cool. So let's
- 9:26Speaker 2: to get into it. Guys, biggest story coming up for
- 9:29Speaker 2: this weekend. If you're listening to the episode when it
- 9:32Speaker 2: comes out this Saturday at thirty first. Probably the biggest
- 9:35Speaker 2: event in the last few months that it was announced
- 9:38Speaker 2: Shakhor Stephenson versus Telfy Molopez super lightweight fight. I want
- 9:44Speaker 2: to ask, you know, let's let's start with that. Actually,
- 9:46Speaker 2: since we'll start with our guest Tony, what do you
- 9:48Speaker 2: think this means for the winner and you know, them
- 9:51Speaker 2: potentially being the new face of the sport? What's the
- 9:54Speaker 2: vibe here?
- 9:55Speaker 1: You know?
- 9:55Speaker 5: I have a hard time at face of the sport right,
- 9:58Speaker 5: especially with these guys kind of I don't want to
- 10:02Speaker 5: say just starting at one forty. They've had a few
- 10:04Speaker 5: fights at one, but to me it boxing is so
- 10:07Speaker 5: flavor of the month now, right, we don't have a
- 10:09Speaker 5: face of the sport right now.
- 10:11Speaker 4: We can argue.
- 10:12Speaker 5: That's been that, we can argue about a couple other guys.
- 10:16Speaker 5: I think it's more about who's poising themselves to be
- 10:18Speaker 5: the face of the sport, but more importantly, who's the
- 10:20Speaker 5: face of this division?
- 10:21Speaker 4: Right?
- 10:21Speaker 5: We have a great I think the most entertaining division
- 10:23Speaker 5: in boxing the last two years was the lightweight division.
- 10:26Speaker 5: These guys are getting older, they're stepping into super lightweight
- 10:29Speaker 5: and now we're going to see who's who, right, We're
- 10:31Speaker 5: going to see if these powers back a punch, is
- 10:33Speaker 5: it Trakour and can you take on this defensive elite
- 10:36Speaker 5: technician Mayweather style and prove that not getting hit is
- 10:41Speaker 5: as important as hitting or is it more than to
- 10:44Speaker 5: a female guy who rides the emotional wave, who's going
- 10:46Speaker 5: to ride the crowd and have those moments and hopefully
- 10:49Speaker 5: collection of moments and prove that the Lomachenko fight and
- 10:53Speaker 5: that win wasn't just lightning in a bottle, but he
- 10:55Speaker 5: really is that dude. So I'm excited to see who
- 10:58Speaker 5: wins the fight. I got my theories about it, but
- 11:01Speaker 5: I think it's more about who's the face of this
- 11:02Speaker 5: division than giving them the title.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Who's the face of boxing right now?
- 11:07Speaker 2: Okay, okay, definitely, And we're gonna make official predictions at
- 11:10Speaker 2: the end, So at the end of the segment, so
- 11:13Speaker 2: save those and don't don't be a coward, say with
- 11:15Speaker 2: your chest, but we'll hold it off. Yeah for sure, Jamison,
- 11:18Speaker 2: same thing for you, you know, kind of your thoughts,
- 11:19Speaker 2: you know, that's that's a really good interesting point. That
- 11:21Speaker 2: Tony made you know the face of boxing? Can that's
- 11:25Speaker 2: that's such a big question. What is the winner going
- 11:27Speaker 2: to be? Like, Like, what are they gonna look forward
- 11:29Speaker 2: to after this fight?
- 11:31Speaker 1: So it's a great question because the face of boxing
- 11:34Speaker 1: isn't just what happens in a ring. It's as culmination
- 11:38Speaker 1: of a lot of things, right, It's a rental performance,
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's popularity, it's how much you're heard and seen from
- 11:44Speaker 1: in general.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It's a bigger than just the fight itself.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Uh.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Shakur Stevenson is a guy that likes to be outside.
- 11:51Speaker 1: He likes doing press, likes doing interviews, he likes being active.
- 11:55Speaker 1: If he wins, and this propels him to take your
- 12:00Speaker 1: fights going forward as active as he is in and
- 12:03Speaker 1: out the ring. It's better for the sport because now
- 12:06Speaker 1: you have a guy that's kind of king of the
- 12:07Speaker 1: hill in the sense face of the sport is kind
- 12:09Speaker 1: of like I said, I agree with Tony with that.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It's almost like flavor of the month, like you get
- 12:13Speaker 1: every month. You can make an argument for whomever, but
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think king of the hill is probably a better
- 12:20Speaker 1: term to use because now we have a guy. Hey,
- 12:23Speaker 1: this guy won fair square. This guy's also undefeated, and
- 12:27Speaker 1: he hasn't really ducked anybody, so there's no one that
- 12:30Speaker 1: he's avoided or conveniently avoided or like that he thought
- 12:35Speaker 1: who he wanted to fight. Everybody agreed upon it. He
- 12:38Speaker 1: won fair square. This guy that's the new up and
- 12:41Speaker 1: coming guy that you, like Tony said, can eventually be
- 12:45Speaker 1: facing the sport. But we can't get out face of
- 12:47Speaker 1: the sport for this winning one big time fight. I
- 12:50Speaker 1: think that's a bit much. However, I think you can
- 12:53Speaker 1: work towards it. I'll say you can be king of
- 12:54Speaker 1: the hill where that you're the guy that everybody's trying
- 12:56Speaker 1: to get to. I think that's kind of a bigger thing.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Because ja Kirk also move up and wait, eventually, there's
- 13:01Speaker 1: a lot of things with him. He's very young. He's
- 13:03Speaker 1: still young all things considered, so there's a lot of
- 13:05Speaker 1: possibilities with him. So him winning this fight opens up
- 13:08Speaker 1: a big bag of possibilities. So I think fas the
- 13:11Speaker 1: thing with he a femo. If he were to win,
- 13:14Speaker 1: which is like a three to one upset at the books,
- 13:17Speaker 1: that would be interesting because he's active. Is that maybe
- 13:21Speaker 1: not as active a screwby he's also active that would
- 13:24Speaker 1: be interesting though, because I don't know he could sell
- 13:29Speaker 1: a fight, but I don't know how much buzz it
- 13:32Speaker 1: is he has a name with him. I don't know
- 13:34Speaker 1: if he can sell a fight with just him being
- 13:37Speaker 1: the headliner. He's like he'd have to have either a
- 13:39Speaker 1: co made event or someone else that is tied to him.
- 13:42Speaker 1: But either way, I think we're in for a great
- 13:44Speaker 1: fight on Saturday.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Absolutely, And for if anybody's tuning in who is not
- 13:49Speaker 2: as familiar with both of these guys, I was just
- 13:50Speaker 2: thinking last night, really that tail Fema Lopez outside of
- 13:53Speaker 2: the ring in interviews, he's like the closest you could
- 13:56Speaker 2: get to is like Deadpool as a person, Like he's
- 14:00Speaker 2: he doesn't shut up. He can be very annoying. Sometimes
- 14:03Speaker 2: he's really funny and he gets me and I'm like,
- 14:05Speaker 2: son of a bitch, that was funny. But he's also
- 14:08Speaker 2: runs it now too much, and sometimes he has said
- 14:10Speaker 2: some racist or racially tricky shit that like, we don't
- 14:16Speaker 2: know that we want him running his mouth too much
- 14:18Speaker 2: because he's the kind who just doesn't shut up and
- 14:20Speaker 2: he'll just say stupid things and just make himself look bad.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Shaquor seems to you know, not just love the sport,
- 14:27Speaker 2: but knows his history, uh, and just seems to be
- 14:30Speaker 2: better on camera on Mike. You know, he's very braggadocious,
- 14:33Speaker 2: but like in a fun way and him too, like
- 14:37Speaker 2: he carries himself in a way that kind of is funny.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Not laughing at him, but you know, he's got a
- 14:42Speaker 2: sense of humor, he's got his style. If we're talking
- 14:45Speaker 2: about what it's gonna look like outside the ring, I
- 14:48Speaker 2: don't know. The Tao's like the best person to kind
- 14:50Speaker 2: of bet our money on being like the ambassador for
- 14:53Speaker 2: boxing that we will say that. You know, I think
- 14:56Speaker 2: definitely as long as Shakur puts on a good fight.
- 15:00Speaker 2: His biggest thing has always been that he's quote boring,
- 15:03Speaker 2: boring fighter.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:04Speaker 2: We did see a great performance against Williams Sebela. I
- 15:07Speaker 2: think he's got the skills. I think he's got the potential,
- 15:10Speaker 2: he's got the tools, he's got the talent. As I
- 15:11Speaker 2: always love to say, Uh, I would I think it
- 15:15Speaker 2: would be better for the future of the sport, for
- 15:18Speaker 2: new fandom and for ambassadorship if Shakur won and became
- 15:23Speaker 2: King of the Hill. I'll say that. But in terms
- 15:28Speaker 2: of setting up what's coming next h This past weekend
- 15:31Speaker 2: we had Raymond Urtaya fighting Andy Kruz. He won his
- 15:35Speaker 2: fight on Saturday in Vegas, and he straight up set
- 15:38Speaker 2: at the end I want the winner of tail versus Chakur,
- 15:41Speaker 2: So you know, it was a great fight. Andy Kruz
- 15:44Speaker 2: definitely did a lot of good work in the ring,
- 15:46Speaker 2: but I think it rightfully went to Murataya. Yeah. I
- 15:50Speaker 2: mean he's not a guy that's in a lot of
- 15:51Speaker 2: the conversations. In fact, I sound fight once and like
- 15:56Speaker 2: not somebody that I followed, Tony, are you familiar with
- 15:58Speaker 2: Mataya as a fighter? Like? Have you with him some?
- 16:01Speaker 5: And that was kind of my point right where he's
- 16:03Speaker 5: kind of a high risk, low reward guy. Let's face it,
- 16:06Speaker 5: boxing is about marketability, right, we talked about it with
- 16:09Speaker 5: the face of boxing conversation here somewhat familiar. I think
- 16:13Speaker 5: he's the type of guy doesn't get the opportunity that deserves.
- 16:15Speaker 5: He kind of has to force those opportunities because I
- 16:18Speaker 5: think the name isn't catching yet, despite being a good
- 16:20Speaker 5: fighter who might be worthy of the chances, I don't
- 16:24Speaker 5: think I don't think people are willing to even consider
- 16:27Speaker 5: him a B side.
- 16:28Speaker 4: He might be closer to d or E with the
- 16:30Speaker 4: casual boxing fan.
- 16:32Speaker 2: So can a guy like that get to, you know,
- 16:36Speaker 2: start him if he does beat tail Or Shikor or
- 16:38Speaker 2: is it, like I guess, I'm kind of curious, like
- 16:41Speaker 2: what leads the guy into that next level? Or are
- 16:43Speaker 2: they kind of destined to always be a d or E.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I just don't know either of y'all. Are your thoughts
- 16:48Speaker 2: out here?
- 16:49Speaker 5: Tamason, what do you think you're guess? You gotta go
- 16:52Speaker 5: first again? Like I said, he's the kind of dude
- 16:57Speaker 5: that he's not just going to get his chance, so
- 17:00Speaker 5: he has to be loud. He's the kind of guy
- 17:02Speaker 5: that has to have that big moment. I can a
- 17:05Speaker 5: lot to tell Fimo against Loma, right, you kind of
- 17:08Speaker 5: gotta have that moment that puts you on people's radar
- 17:12Speaker 5: because I think if you ask most casual boxing fans,
- 17:14Speaker 5: they have no idea who Raymond Wudetaya is right now.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Smart of him to call out the winner of this
- 17:20Speaker 5: fight from like the political side of boxing. I think
- 17:23Speaker 5: it's a dangerous move stylistically because there's a good chance
- 17:26Speaker 5: he doesn't get anywhere with either guy. Again, a lot
- 17:30Speaker 5: left to be seen there, but a smart move by
- 17:32Speaker 5: him to call out the next guy. Hopefully he gets
- 17:34Speaker 5: his shot because I think he's worthy.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Well, James, I guess.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, shut it up.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I was gonna I was gonna rephrase the question and
- 17:44Speaker 2: be like, not specifically from Mura, because yeah, I don't
- 17:48Speaker 2: know how much you know about him or whether you
- 17:49Speaker 2: followed him or off. But somebody like that who is
- 17:52Speaker 2: a very skilled fighter who wants to get his name
- 17:54Speaker 2: out there, what did they need to do to get
- 17:56Speaker 2: to the next level and to become a household name?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Like what are people's options in that kind of mindset?
- 18:02Speaker 3: So there's two things you gotta do.
- 18:04Speaker 1: One, why Tom said, you gotta be loud, almost obnoxious
- 18:06Speaker 1: to get the attention of whoever they did it. That's
- 18:10Speaker 1: the first thing. And also you gotta take less money.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You got to be attractive on the business side and
- 18:16Speaker 1: take a little bit less money. Basically, the basically a
- 18:19Speaker 1: proven fight that says where if you win, obviously the
- 18:22Speaker 1: reward is a lot greater going beyond, but at the
- 18:25Speaker 1: same time, when they go to evaluate who's able to
- 18:29Speaker 1: fight or the cannons of the fighting, and you're cut
- 18:33Speaker 1: less than others. That helps you out and trying to
- 18:35Speaker 1: get that fight. But that being said, the most important
- 18:37Speaker 1: thing is probably being loud and I'm notious and trying
- 18:40Speaker 1: to keep on pestering for that fight. You got to
- 18:42Speaker 1: create some demand for it. That's the biggest demand. Because
- 18:44Speaker 1: here's the thing. Let's say, from everything we're it's like
- 18:47Speaker 1: we all think squer is gonna win on all. So
- 18:49Speaker 1: let's like, yeah, right, so let's say, what's the next fight?
- 18:57Speaker 3: Like there's no automatic fight for him.
- 18:59Speaker 1: At no one obvious right right exactly, So that's where
- 19:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna come up from. You gotta make that. If
- 19:06Speaker 1: you're someone also get in, you got to make that
- 19:08Speaker 1: the next fight. And how you gotta do what you
- 19:10Speaker 1: gotta do it.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Well, let's not forget, uh Scourt moved up like this
- 19:15Speaker 2: is a super light may Sugar's last night was lightweight,
- 19:17Speaker 2: so he's already made him move up to another division.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And so I mean, I don't know if there are actually,
- 19:23Speaker 2: off the top of my head, I don't know if
- 19:25Speaker 2: either of you know super lightweights that are sort of
- 19:29Speaker 2: have hype right now in the rankings. I should have
- 19:32Speaker 2: done better research. Any guys that you can think.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Of for I mean, HAINI right if he if he's
- 19:38Speaker 5: active at one forty, I think Hane is a dude
- 19:40Speaker 5: to talk about.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Richardson Hitchins. I mean, we just have the Arnold Barbosa fight.
- 19:48Speaker 5: These are guys that are all right there, and I
- 19:49Speaker 5: think boxing's weight classes are so they're within reach.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Is there anyone active at one forty? I don't know.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Are the guys that can fight at one forty? I
- 19:57Speaker 4: think for sure?
- 19:59Speaker 1: Okay, Hitchins is my guy. I think Hitchins is a
- 20:02Speaker 1: guy where give him the opportunity. He's a very dangerous
- 20:05Speaker 1: guy in the ring, and I give him a chance.
- 20:08Speaker 3: For anybody, I appreciate about it. I mean, here's the thing.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I think when you have a guy that athletic, that
- 20:19Speaker 1: fast and that confident, I get him action. I'm not
- 20:23Speaker 1: saying he's gonna beat anyone. I'm gonna say you got action.
- 20:25Speaker 1: When you got a guy that is that hungry, he's skilled,
- 20:28Speaker 1: he's young, and he wants He's not from what I've
- 20:33Speaker 1: seen from him, he's not afraid of anything, like there's
- 20:36Speaker 1: no fear, there's you know, so I can from a
- 20:41Speaker 1: guy that, especially when you're trying to take someone else's belt,
- 20:45Speaker 1: when you're trying to take someone's Oh, there's a certain
- 20:47Speaker 1: way you have to go about that. I don't think
- 20:49Speaker 1: you can casually do that. You got to take that shit,
- 20:52Speaker 1: so beat him. Yes, he has a personality in the
- 20:56Speaker 1: bravado to do that. Will he do that? That remain
- 20:58Speaker 1: obviously that's a whole different question. But on the house
- 21:01Speaker 1: I looking in, that's a guy can see snatching a
- 21:04Speaker 1: belt when he's underwolved in the situation.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Fair he definitely has the skill. I mean, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 2: whatever we've seen. We haven't seen a lot from him yet,
- 21:13Speaker 2: but what we have seen, I mean, the skills are there.
- 21:16Speaker 2: As long as he keeps developing and keep taking big fights,
- 21:18Speaker 2: he could potentially be King of the Hill going forward.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I do appreciate that that phrasing there, Jamison. Well, we
- 21:28Speaker 2: can't talk about people moving up in wait and being
- 21:31Speaker 2: super light without discussing Keyshawn Davis. He is back in
- 21:35Speaker 2: the ring for the first time after his uh coming
- 21:38Speaker 2: in a little extra chunky. I guess ed what Dilla said,
- 21:40Speaker 2: does I'm gonna start with you Jamison on this one,
- 21:42Speaker 2: because you and I had a really good discussion about it.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Whether we feel he we're gonna forgive him come back.
- 21:47Speaker 2: How do you feel about him returning to the ring?
- 21:50Speaker 2: Going up? And wait? He did say he had a
- 21:52Speaker 2: trouble making lightweight and that was, you know, one of
- 21:54Speaker 2: his excuses. We'll call it that. But are we ready
- 21:57Speaker 2: to welcome him back in the fold or are we
- 21:59Speaker 2: still better.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Were welcoming back? But man, I got it.
- 22:02Speaker 1: I need a performance to welcome him back. I need
- 22:05Speaker 1: a dominant performance. I don't need no skating by I
- 22:08Speaker 1: only need know lackluster shit. I need a real dominant Hey,
- 22:12Speaker 1: my bad, guys, I got y'all going forward performance.
- 22:15Speaker 3: If we get that, all is forgiven. For the most part.
- 22:18Speaker 1: The screwed up the hometown event not a big fan
- 22:20Speaker 1: of that's a whole different source of different day. But
- 22:22Speaker 1: in terms of getting back on track, keeping the main
- 22:25Speaker 1: thing the main thing, and become the best boxers you
- 22:27Speaker 1: can be, I can respect the dominant performance, getting back
- 22:30Speaker 1: on track and moving forward as a boxer.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I can support that.
- 22:34Speaker 1: If it's a split decision or who damn if you lose,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I can't.
- 22:39Speaker 3: That's something I nah. So me.
- 22:41Speaker 1: My thing is this, you gotta mess up happens to
- 22:44Speaker 1: the best of us. You gotta gotta get better from that.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So if he gets better from that, it's all good.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Well, and the man has proven that he's a very
- 22:52Speaker 2: skilled fighter who can dominate. I mean the fight before
- 22:55Speaker 2: he messed up his homegun show was against Dennis barrencheck
- 22:59Speaker 2: for worst brown you know, uh body shop Settisbury chick
- 23:03Speaker 2: didn't get up. Amazing fight. Now, remember that was on
- 23:06Speaker 2: Valentine's Day last year, twenty twenty five, because I was
- 23:09Speaker 2: in Austin checking that out. So that was a great
- 23:11Speaker 2: night and I was stoked. I was like, this could
- 23:14Speaker 2: be the next guy. You know. Of course, what happened happened.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But what about you, Tony? Are you? Were you a
- 23:18Speaker 2: fan of Kyshon Davis? And do you think that he's
- 23:20Speaker 2: gonna he's gonna earn his way back into our races?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Good races?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Man?
- 23:24Speaker 5: How many fighters have we seen that lack, you know,
- 23:26Speaker 5: the discipline to get where they need to be, right,
- 23:29Speaker 5: guys who.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Got what it takes. They passed the eye test, but
- 23:32Speaker 4: they kind of it kind of seems like they don't
- 23:34Speaker 4: give a shit, right, And I think he fits that
- 23:36Speaker 4: mold of that kind of dude. I think this is
- 23:39Speaker 4: more of a re entry fight.
- 23:41Speaker 5: It's kind of a get right fight more than a
- 23:43Speaker 5: showcase for him. I think he has to prove himself
- 23:47Speaker 5: a little bit. I mean, Ortiza isn't a nobody either, right,
- 23:51Speaker 5: I mean, he's not going to be the most exciting fighter,
- 23:53Speaker 5: but he is going to be a good fighter to
- 23:55Speaker 5: fight to to kind of regroup, remeasure and and see
- 23:59Speaker 5: where he Sean Davis is. I hope, I hope I
- 24:04Speaker 5: see some good stuff from him, because I think he's
- 24:05Speaker 5: a worthy fighter, but it does take discipline to compee
- 24:08Speaker 5: at the highest levels.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Well that's a good point. If he is just coming
- 24:12Speaker 2: back to see where he's at, does that mean that
- 24:15Speaker 2: people aren't going to be as excited Jamison? I mean
- 24:17Speaker 2: if he's if he does win not handily and doesn't
- 24:20Speaker 2: kind of you know, get him out of there and
- 24:22Speaker 2: take care of business. Or is he going to have
- 24:24Speaker 2: trouble coming back after this, because this should be his comeback.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Are we gonna then is he going to fade back
- 24:30Speaker 2: into obscurity.
- 24:31Speaker 1: It won't be obscurity because he's still a name, but
- 24:34Speaker 1: it'd be better off for him to have. Remember, he
- 24:37Speaker 1: was on the verge of headlining events, so when you're
- 24:40Speaker 1: on that trajectory, you gotta do whatever it takes to
- 24:43Speaker 1: stay with that. The moment something happens to where you
- 24:45Speaker 1: get knocked down a peg or two, you got to
- 24:48Speaker 1: be very careful because you either stay at that peg
- 24:50Speaker 1: or you can't drop lower.
- 24:52Speaker 3: So with him, to me, it's more of the how
- 24:55Speaker 3: do you look this fight? First of all?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Are you in shape? That's the first thing. Are you
- 25:00Speaker 1: struggling you come? Are you serious about making weight? Are
- 25:03Speaker 1: you serious about your craft? This should be a like, okay,
- 25:08Speaker 1: this is why I expected. Let's take your business.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Move on.
- 25:11Speaker 1: If he's struggling or if it's bad, then yeah, it's
- 25:14Speaker 1: gonna be the the third fight on the car instead
- 25:16Speaker 1: of being the second fight on the car.
- 25:19Speaker 3: That's the thing with him, So that's what I'm looking
- 25:20Speaker 3: to see.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Like Tony mentioned, very skillful, skills is not an issue,
- 25:25Speaker 1: not an issue at all. It's the mindset, it's the discipline,
- 25:29Speaker 1: it's the mentals. If those things are straight, you'll probably
- 25:32Speaker 1: be okay and he'll be able to co lead events
- 25:34Speaker 1: going forward. But if not, then that's a totally different discussion.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And on the cards that we see with all the fights,
- 25:40Speaker 1: he's not gonna be in the first two lines.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Won't happen.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He's gonna be the three thirty guy, but he gonna
- 25:44Speaker 1: be in there. He's gonna be on the third or
- 25:46Speaker 1: fourth line, and that ain't good.
- 25:47Speaker 4: He's what I call a sunset guy.
- 25:49Speaker 3: See there, you're gonna see.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Get the show starting for you. But he ain't who
- 25:57Speaker 5: we're here to see. If he dominates, I'll be impressed. Right,
- 26:01Speaker 5: if it's a true domination, i'd be impressed. If he
- 26:05Speaker 5: stops him flat out, i'd be a little shocked. I
- 26:07Speaker 5: don't think he's there yet. But again, for his sake
- 26:10Speaker 5: and for the sake of boxing, I hope, I hope
- 26:13Speaker 5: he does what he's supposed to do and gets a
- 26:15Speaker 5: little gets some of those nine hours versus those sunset hours.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Well, and just for the record, you know, I'm a
- 26:21Speaker 2: little bit less down on it speaking as a fat
- 26:23Speaker 2: guy who's only ever sparred and never done anything professional
- 26:26Speaker 2: and never had to make weight. You know, him coming
- 26:28Speaker 2: over weight, Yes, that's not good. It's definitely bad. He
- 26:31Speaker 2: disrespected his hometown, the sport, et cetera. You know, period
- 26:35Speaker 2: and a paragraph return return. What I'm saying is that
- 26:39Speaker 2: doesn't mean he's like a fat guy who just got
- 26:40Speaker 2: off the couch after chugging a fucking beer, you know
- 26:42Speaker 2: what I mean? Like, the man is still in shape
- 26:44Speaker 2: and ready to fight. He just picked the wrong weight
- 26:47Speaker 2: class and he should have spoken up beforehand. I'm not
- 26:49Speaker 2: making excuses, but you know, sometimes you just can't stay
- 26:53Speaker 2: at that level and he should have been a little
- 26:55Speaker 2: bit more aware that he should have moved up earlier
- 26:57Speaker 2: before challenging Della Sentos. So, you know, I guess maybe
- 27:03Speaker 2: y'all have a different opinion in terms of historically that
- 27:05Speaker 2: you know, that's a more egregious fuck up than I
- 27:07Speaker 2: think it is.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Boxing is too unforgiving in my opinion, you only get
- 27:11Speaker 5: so many shots, and if you mess one up, I
- 27:14Speaker 5: think it can be career ending.
- 27:16Speaker 4: In my opinion, I think it's that serious.
- 27:19Speaker 2: And I agree. I guess. I'm also saying that maybe
- 27:22Speaker 2: we're a little too harsh on these people.
- 27:24Speaker 4: That are but the industry is too harsh on them.
- 27:27Speaker 2: That's fair, that's fair. But we can we can be
- 27:29Speaker 2: the voices of change, damn it.
- 27:31Speaker 4: We could be the guys that the guys who say
- 27:33Speaker 4: it's okay to be fed them.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, the sport is what it is.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Can I remember the sports like commission based business.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Right, it's basically like hey, sink or swim, and there's
- 27:45Speaker 1: always somebody else coming up to replace you. As a boxer,
- 27:48Speaker 1: there's always somebody if you don't get your ship right,
- 27:50Speaker 1: there's somebody else.
- 27:51Speaker 3: That can put no spot. For the most part.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Now, the super super leakue guys, they can do whatever
- 27:55Speaker 1: they want to an extent outside of breaking the law actually,
- 27:58Speaker 1: like we're seeing with Tay Davis, but everybody else if
- 28:01Speaker 1: you know, for the most part, if you're elite, elite,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you can get away with almost anything. But if you're
- 28:06Speaker 1: a regular guy or above average guy, you could be
- 28:08Speaker 1: your vice. Like they're not playing that.
- 28:11Speaker 2: That's fair. So are any of us expecting to get
- 28:13Speaker 2: Keshan Davis loss, whether it's knockout or by decision whatever,
- 28:17Speaker 2: And do any of us think that he's just not
- 28:19Speaker 2: gonna be cut out for this for this one fight.
- 28:24Speaker 5: I think it's hard to bounce back from. I think
- 28:26Speaker 5: it's really hard to bounce back from for him. Again,
- 28:28Speaker 5: you only get so many opportunities. He had the recent
- 28:31Speaker 5: slip up with wait, can he do it? Yes, But
- 28:34Speaker 5: it's a much harder road ahead if he struggles here.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Well, Actually my question was do you think that he's
- 28:41Speaker 2: gonna lose or win this fight in your opinion?
- 28:43Speaker 4: Oh my apologeticiz I said, if he loses, he still
- 28:45Speaker 4: get the opportunity. I think he wins. I think he wins.
- 28:48Speaker 4: I'm waiting to see how convincing the win is, but
- 28:50Speaker 4: I do think he wins.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Sure, And that's where I wanted to start with Jamesie
- 28:53Speaker 2: You've said, you've said before you can win ugly and
- 28:55Speaker 2: that's still win. But yeah, do you think he's actually
- 28:57Speaker 2: gonna pull it off?
- 28:59Speaker 1: I think he wins. My biggest thing is how does
- 29:01Speaker 1: he look? And also the shape, like are you taking
- 29:05Speaker 1: their conditioning seriously? As after what happened last fight? Right,
- 29:09Speaker 1: you can't come in out of shape two fights in
- 29:11Speaker 1: a row because now you're just not. That shows a
- 29:13Speaker 1: whole different thing and that's not good. So hopefully he
- 29:16Speaker 1: comes to tip top shape, focus, ready to go, and
- 29:19Speaker 1: if we see that come performance on Saturday, it's like,
- 29:22Speaker 1: all right, cool, we can you know, we can chalk
- 29:24Speaker 1: it up kind of move on. You're ready for the
- 29:26Speaker 1: next big fight for him. But if not, then that's
- 29:28Speaker 1: an a whole different lot of questions because we don't have
- 29:30Speaker 1: a lot of guys that can not necessarily coat like
- 29:34Speaker 1: lead a fight card, but the average boxing fan knows
- 29:39Speaker 1: that they have belief in for the future. We don't
- 29:42Speaker 1: have a lot of those guys right now, so he's
- 29:43Speaker 1: one of them actually that actually has a bright, bright future,
- 29:47Speaker 1: so we can kind of need him to figure shit
- 29:48Speaker 1: out and get back on track.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Is only valuable if we care about the undercard. Am
- 29:55Speaker 5: I paying for one fight or my pain to see
- 29:57Speaker 5: a few dudes go at it?
- 29:58Speaker 4: You know?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Damn good point, damn good point. Uh yeah, And I'm
- 30:03Speaker 2: a little bit more, you know, kind of optimistic because
- 30:05Speaker 2: he did Kishan did move up and wait, he didn't say, well,
- 30:08Speaker 2: I'm going to try to hit lightweight again after not
- 30:10Speaker 2: making weight last time, so that would be stupid. I'd
- 30:13Speaker 2: be like, what are you doing? But you know, learn
- 30:16Speaker 2: from that and uh you know again, you know, I
- 30:19Speaker 2: am a fan of his I'm a fan of his
- 30:20Speaker 2: boxing style and had a good time in his fight,
- 30:23Speaker 2: so I do have that emotional attachment. I do want
- 30:25Speaker 2: him to be back on top and you know, live
- 30:28Speaker 2: up to that potential. So I'll admit that is my bias.
- 30:31Speaker 2: But yeah, cool, So we're gonna talk about something else
- 30:35Speaker 2: happening on this Saturday. But I want to get all
- 30:37Speaker 2: three of us on the record, and we're going to
- 30:39Speaker 2: start with our guest here. What is the official prediction
- 30:43Speaker 2: for Shakor Stevenson versus tail Fe Malopez? Who's winning?
- 30:46Speaker 4: And how can I get an either or here? Though?
- 30:49Speaker 4: I just got to pick one because I got to.
- 30:53Speaker 2: How about this? How about this? You can give it
- 30:55Speaker 2: either or, but then you have to go on record
- 30:57Speaker 2: and say with your chest and then if you're wrong,
- 31:00Speaker 2: if you're wrong, this tight, you can't come back and
- 31:01Speaker 2: say my bad.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I think here's what I think. I think.
- 31:03Speaker 5: I think we're gonna have like another defensive prowess.
- 31:08Speaker 4: You know.
- 31:08Speaker 5: Keep in mind he's had Bud and Mayweather in his
- 31:12Speaker 5: corner right and in his ears, so that's a lot
- 31:14Speaker 5: of defensive influencer now, but can throw it the best
- 31:16Speaker 5: of them. I wonder what's in Shakur's ear going into
- 31:19Speaker 5: this fight, But he is who he is, right and
- 31:22Speaker 5: he's built himself in a certain way up until this point.
- 31:25Speaker 5: I can see this being a seven five eight four
- 31:28Speaker 5: kind of defensive, boring fight for Shakur, and if TiO
- 31:32Speaker 5: challenges him, I can see TiO having some moments and
- 31:35Speaker 5: getting that big spark. If he can get Shakurda to
- 31:38Speaker 5: get frustrated and fight outside of his style, because that's
- 31:41Speaker 5: who Tao is, right, He's gonna talk trash, he's gonna
- 31:43Speaker 5: talk shit.
- 31:44Speaker 4: He gonna try to test you. Can he do it?
- 31:47Speaker 5: Can he hit a guy who's really good at not
- 31:49Speaker 5: getting hit? I think ultimately Shakour walks away with the
- 31:53Speaker 5: w and and I think I think he'll outgas and
- 31:58Speaker 5: outlast Tilfi Molpa in this fight goes the distance or no,
- 32:04Speaker 5: I yeah, it's such of course Stevens in fight, they
- 32:06Speaker 5: all go to the distance.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Jamison, Yeah, I'm learning the same way.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'm leaning one sixteen one twelve, but a very close
- 32:18Speaker 1: one sixteen one twelve where you could argue that couple
- 32:21Speaker 1: rounds could go either way.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Like That's where I'm at with it.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be very defensive fight, like Tony said,
- 32:29Speaker 1: but also it's gonna be a fight to where it's
- 32:32Speaker 1: gonna be.
- 32:32Speaker 3: It's gonna be a chess match.
- 32:34Speaker 1: It's gonna be a lot of adjusting, a lot of
- 32:37Speaker 1: you know, a lot of maneuvering mid round, you know,
- 32:41Speaker 1: mid fight, et cetera, et cetera. I think she curves
- 32:44Speaker 1: the better overall fire. At this age of his career,
- 32:46Speaker 1: I think he can also score more points.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I'm willing.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm looking to see how aggressive he is, because the
- 32:52Speaker 1: biggest thing with occur is his offense has been questioned
- 32:57Speaker 1: at times. He has not been as aggressive in terms
- 33:01Speaker 1: of throwing punches, especially power punches, in the past versus
- 33:04Speaker 1: certain fighters. So I'm kind of curious to see how
- 33:07Speaker 1: that goes in a fight like this where everybody's watching.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So I'm curious to see that. But it's the reason
- 33:12Speaker 1: why he's favorite. It's the reason why you know he's
- 33:16Speaker 1: kind of next up in a sense, I would give
- 33:19Speaker 1: him the odds of right now of winning the fight.
- 33:22Speaker 1: It's one sixteen, one to twelve. I don't think it's
- 33:24Speaker 1: like a blowout. I think it's a very close fight.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I think you'll when the fight's over, he will win.
- 33:30Speaker 1: But you can make an argument for a couple of
- 33:31Speaker 1: rounds going the other way, and we know how that
- 33:34Speaker 1: goes when a fight is what eight four, We know
- 33:36Speaker 1: how that can go. And if you if you push
- 33:39Speaker 1: two rounds, you're at a draw. So I think we're
- 33:42Speaker 1: that kind of close to a fight, good fight for
- 33:45Speaker 1: US boxing fans, but I think he ends up victorious
- 33:48Speaker 1: on Saturday.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Okay, well, I'm also going to put on record and
- 33:53Speaker 2: say expect you kurs Stevenson to walk away with the W.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I'm hoping, I'm predicting that. You know, he's learned to
- 33:59Speaker 2: not from you know, his his other fights, knowing that
- 34:04Speaker 2: defense is not enough. He's got a kund of bunch.
- 34:07Speaker 2: He has to be aggressive, especially with Tao, who will
- 34:09Speaker 2: throw you off your game, will just frustrate you. But
- 34:12Speaker 2: shaqur Is has always been level headed in the ring.
- 34:15Speaker 2: He's always been prepared in the ring, and whether he
- 34:19Speaker 2: was not as aggressive, his defense was on point for
- 34:21Speaker 2: however who was fighting. So I think he can make
- 34:23Speaker 2: the adjustments. I think he probably And you know, he's
- 34:27Speaker 2: not doing this in a vacuum. He knows that this
- 34:30Speaker 2: is a big fight, a big showcase that a lot
- 34:31Speaker 2: of people are watching, especially being in New York. You know,
- 34:34Speaker 2: he's from Jersey, tails from Brooklyn, so there's gonna be
- 34:37Speaker 2: a lot of eyes of both. You know a lot
- 34:39Speaker 2: of Puerto Ricans there, and of course Stevenson is is
- 34:41Speaker 2: partially Puerto Ricans, so I think he's aware, kind of
- 34:45Speaker 2: like how Bud Crawford is, that this could be his
- 34:47Speaker 2: moment to really showcase what he can do. And yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 2: with Bud Crawford in his corner, the best thing about
- 34:54Speaker 2: but he's not just doesn't have great defense, he's a
- 34:56Speaker 2: great counterpuncher. So I'm guessing that that's what's what's gonna
- 35:01Speaker 2: what he's going to display the Saturday. And yeah, I
- 35:04Speaker 2: also think it's gonna be a close fight, definitely gonna
- 35:05Speaker 2: go the distance. But I feel that Chakhour is going
- 35:10Speaker 2: to be maybe he's gonna surprise people kind of like
- 35:13Speaker 2: Devin Hainey did against Brian Rman Junior. He's gonna be
- 35:16Speaker 2: more aggressive than we expected. Maybe it's Shakurt two point zero.
- 35:20Speaker 2: And I'm I'm pretty stoked. But one thing we got
- 35:24Speaker 2: to ask, can anybody really hurt the other? Can you know,
- 35:28Speaker 2: can Tail put Chikur down on the Chemist vice versa, Tony?
- 35:32Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 35:34Speaker 5: I think it is more likely that tel Fimo Lopez
- 35:38Speaker 5: can put Shakur down again. I just haven't seen that
- 35:42Speaker 5: level of power. We're talking about two guys that are
- 35:44Speaker 5: I think five and oh both of their last five fights,
- 35:47Speaker 5: their records aren't that different. We're talking about what twenty
- 35:49Speaker 5: four and oh and like twenty two and one, and
- 35:52Speaker 5: you got two guys that know how to win. It's
- 35:54Speaker 5: a matter of how they go about winning. I think
- 35:56Speaker 5: Tao Fimo again, if you can dial one in right,
- 35:59Speaker 5: boxing is that kind of sport. I think he has
- 36:01Speaker 5: the higher the higher chance from a pure power perspective,
- 36:05Speaker 5: but he's got to find him first, and let's face it,
- 36:07Speaker 5: she core is really good and not get him found.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Jamison can tail put.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I actually agree with Tony there, like, we haven't seen
- 36:18Speaker 1: the power from like that to drop anyone like that's
- 36:21Speaker 1: the biggest thing is not let's say he's not capable.
- 36:24Speaker 1: We just haven't seen it so be able to predict
- 36:26Speaker 1: that he's gonna you know, kao this dude, I don't
- 36:29Speaker 1: personally see that.
- 36:30Speaker 3: With that being said, it.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Would not surprise me if he was on the stoppage,
- 36:37Speaker 1: I think that might be more likely than a knockout,
- 36:39Speaker 1: per se. It is a straight as he's taking much,
- 36:42Speaker 1: he's getting so much punishment. Yeah, I can see that
- 36:47Speaker 1: that's more likely than a knock out. Sure, dropping to
- 36:51Speaker 1: a female would be talking to.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Me, maybe what he needs though to write, maybe he's
- 36:57Speaker 5: maybe he's more impressive. I mean, knocking a guy out
- 36:59Speaker 5: when you're that is tough. Maybe the extra few pounds
- 37:02Speaker 5: as he ages and gets a little bigger, Maybe the
- 37:06Speaker 5: power match with the mass again, maybe we just haven't
- 37:09Speaker 5: seen it yet, right right.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Right, right, Well, you know he can always surprise us.
- 37:14Speaker 2: But yeah, no, I think Tayl's definitely the one that
- 37:18Speaker 2: has shown more power. And just to be clear here,
- 37:21Speaker 2: Tayo is twenty two and one and Chaquur is twenty
- 37:24Speaker 2: four and o because for some god, for the unknown
- 37:29Speaker 2: goddamn reason, Taylor lost to Cambosas which I will never
- 37:32Speaker 2: after seeing him fight Josh Taylor in his fight against Loba, like,
- 37:35Speaker 2: how did this man lose to Cambosa's But that's either
- 37:37Speaker 2: hero there. But yeah, here's thing. Even if he does
- 37:41Speaker 2: put Chakurt down, I mean he got Chiqur, got wobbled
- 37:43Speaker 2: by William Pepeta and you know, he got hit with
- 37:46Speaker 2: the probably one of the strongest punches we've seen him
- 37:48Speaker 2: ever get hit with. But he came back, he adjusted,
- 37:51Speaker 2: he fought, He fought his fight, not the fight that
- 37:54Speaker 2: Tepedo wanted to fight. So even if he does get
- 37:56Speaker 2: hit the canvas. I think, you know, maybe he'll rebound
- 37:58Speaker 2: from that really really well. So I don't know. But
- 38:02Speaker 2: either way, like I said, we got our predictions in
- 38:05Speaker 2: uh s course Stevenson win goes to distance and I'm
- 38:09Speaker 2: gonna predict a really really good night for boxing. So
- 38:12Speaker 2: completely switching tracks to something else I wanted to talk
- 38:15Speaker 2: about that is also happening this Saturday. There is another
- 38:18Speaker 2: boxing match with another UH I would call I would
- 38:22Speaker 2: call him like a rising star, you know, a guy,
- 38:24Speaker 2: a great boxer that has a lot of potential. Xanders
- 38:26Speaker 2: Ayas is fighting the Saturday against a Boss Barrow junior
- 38:31Speaker 2: middle eight and this is on Top Rank, which is
- 38:34Speaker 2: now for free on two B, the same night as
- 38:37Speaker 2: Chakor and Teo. So my question to you guys is
- 38:40Speaker 2: does Top Rank have any juice left? Like I went
- 38:44Speaker 2: on record and saying, I have no problem with our
- 38:46Speaker 2: fights being on two B as opposed to being on ESPN,
- 38:49Speaker 2: I'm cool with that. It's free, every TV comes with it.
- 38:52Speaker 2: We just want to be able to access the fights.
- 38:54Speaker 2: But the fact that it's the same night as a
- 38:57Speaker 2: really really big event put on by Matt Troom Boxing,
- 39:01Speaker 2: does Top Rank kind of just they lost the plot,
- 39:03Speaker 2: you know, did they not care enough to work around that?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Our guests, First, Tony, what are your thoughts on this?
- 39:09Speaker 2: Despite having this week they also.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Ran Yeah, I mean, I don't think it's on accident, right,
- 39:16Speaker 5: And obviously there's only so many weekends in the year
- 39:18Speaker 5: to do it. How many subscribers to two we have
- 39:23Speaker 5: man name name, brand matters, right, And I think if anything,
- 39:27Speaker 5: it's a ploy for Top Rank to say, you know,
- 39:29Speaker 5: this is where you want to fight. I actually kind
- 39:31Speaker 5: of view Top Rank as a little bit of a
- 39:33Speaker 5: minor league. They're sort of developmental. It's where you start.
- 39:36Speaker 5: I appreciate what they've done for the sport of boxing recently,
- 39:39Speaker 5: especially with their partnership with ESPN.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Zius is a good fight. It's too bad nobody's gonna
- 39:45Speaker 4: watch it.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Maybe me and you guys put it on a second screen,
- 39:48Speaker 5: but most people ain't gonna care.
- 39:49Speaker 4: So I think it's not gonna matter for him, honestly.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Well, and before I'll let you Jim and Jamison, you
- 39:56Speaker 2: know there are no to be subscribers. It's free and
- 39:58Speaker 2: there's one hundred million acts active users, so you know,
- 40:01Speaker 2: like I said, it's on every smart TV.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Fair, I misspoke.
- 40:04Speaker 5: I just I can only speak for self, and as
- 40:06Speaker 5: a guy who doesn't touch two B often, I don't
- 40:08Speaker 5: see most regulars jumping on to me to catch something
- 40:11Speaker 5: unless you die hard and really want to see Zios fight.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Right, Well, I guess the only reason I've been on
- 40:17Speaker 2: TV the last two times I have was for Top
- 40:19Speaker 2: Right fights. But yeah, Jamison's kind of the same question
- 40:22Speaker 2: your thoughts on where Top Ring sits now.
- 40:24Speaker 1: It's tough because they lost two big guys over the
- 40:27Speaker 1: last couple of years that are big money making guys.
- 40:30Speaker 1: When you lose them, and you lose them basically for
- 40:32Speaker 1: the same reason. Both basically sided, Hey, you don't promote
- 40:36Speaker 1: us well enough. You don't get the bigger fights for us.
- 40:39Speaker 1: We don't fight as often as we want to or should.
- 40:42Speaker 1: It's very difficult to hold on to your company. It's
- 40:45Speaker 1: very difficult to hold on to guys because that becomes
- 40:47Speaker 1: the word on the street saying, Hey, Tony said, it's
- 40:50Speaker 1: probably good for developmental stages, but once you get past
- 40:53Speaker 1: that stage, you want to make a lot of money.
- 40:55Speaker 1: You want to become a brand, you want to become
- 40:57Speaker 1: a lot of these things. They don't do that. They
- 41:00Speaker 1: should with their premier guys like that, and that has
- 41:03Speaker 1: really halted things over the last two years. And I
- 41:06Speaker 1: mean Shakur left them last year staying the same thing.
- 41:09Speaker 1: They said, Hey, I appreciate what I've done, but the
- 41:12Speaker 1: growth is not there on the same rate as I
- 41:15Speaker 1: wanted to be. So that's why he left. And I think,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you know, Crawford, same thing a couple of years ago.
- 41:20Speaker 1: He left for similar reasons. I think that's a bigger
- 41:23Speaker 1: part of it. Anything else. Is the way they're managing
- 41:25Speaker 1: and marketing Fighters is not where it was ten years
- 41:29Speaker 1: ago or even fifteen years ago.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Right well, and that's just a big bummer to me.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I mean, they were the name they yeah, like Tony said,
- 41:37Speaker 2: their partnership with ESPN mean meant the boxing was always
- 41:39Speaker 2: on basic cable most Saturdays, and you always knew where
- 41:42Speaker 2: to find it. Whenever I went to a dive bar
- 41:45Speaker 2: and there was a boxing match playing, you know I wanted,
- 41:47Speaker 2: I asked them to turn it, say at ESPN, and
- 41:49Speaker 2: they would that's you know, pacio if I fought there. Actually,
- 41:53Speaker 2: actually I didn't mention this earlier, but I do appreciate
- 41:56Speaker 2: Tony pronouncing it bakiao, which I don't know why the
- 41:58Speaker 2: hell I have been doing that all my life. But
- 42:00Speaker 2: you know this is the the problem coming from Mohamad Ali. Dammit.
- 42:03Speaker 5: You know English is my second is in my second language,
- 42:06Speaker 5: man say only way I know how to say.
- 42:08Speaker 2: No worries. But yeah, so I I kind of kind
- 42:13Speaker 2: of bums me out to see I never had a
- 42:16Speaker 2: problem with him being on two b uh. You know,
- 42:19Speaker 2: as a as a concept, you know, cool, wherever people
- 42:21Speaker 2: can get as many imalls, especially in the area area
- 42:24Speaker 2: of streaming, that's cool. The only thing is yeah, usually
- 42:29Speaker 2: like correct me if I'm wrong, Like people know what
- 42:31Speaker 2: other whether big fights are happening, they schedule around right,
- 42:33Speaker 2: it's not they don't just got dump. It feels like
- 42:35Speaker 2: a dumping ground, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
- 42:37Speaker 2: No disrespect to xanders As, no disrespect to Puerto Rico
- 42:41Speaker 2: where the fight is happening, really bums me out that
- 42:45Speaker 2: it's not happening next weekend because I'm gonna be in
- 42:47Speaker 2: the San Juan, Puerto Rico for my birthday. So that's
- 42:50Speaker 2: exactly that's really cool. But but yeah, and especially with
- 42:56Speaker 2: Xander's ayas you know, I'm a fan. I definitely caught
- 43:00Speaker 2: literly fights. I think what of his first fights I
- 43:02Speaker 2: saw was on a course Stevenson card and you know,
- 43:06Speaker 2: really caught my attention. I thought this guy was destined
- 43:08Speaker 2: for big things. I've happed him up myself on the show.
- 43:12Speaker 2: But and he was actually the last top rank fight
- 43:15Speaker 2: on ESPN was him. So it seems that if he
- 43:20Speaker 2: really wants to be a star, he can't stay. And
- 43:22Speaker 2: that's just a bummer too to think about it. Don't
- 43:25Speaker 2: know what are your guys thoughts on that, Tody.
- 43:30Speaker 4: Again, for me, it's just the top rank ESPN move.
- 43:38Speaker 5: I think it diluted it a little bit, Bret, because
- 43:42Speaker 5: it was available every weekend, and it's it's not a
- 43:45Speaker 5: party if it's every weekend, right, And so sorry if
- 43:48Speaker 5: I missed the framework of the question, But again I
- 43:50Speaker 5: just don't think he'll have the eyes on it. I
- 43:52Speaker 5: saw Jabbari in the chat post a little bit about
- 43:55Speaker 5: to be and the subscribers and who's on that, and
- 43:58Speaker 5: I think with the fighters that are up and coming,
- 44:01Speaker 5: it was a smart move. Again, I just think the
- 44:04Speaker 5: general public and the name that is ESPN would have
- 44:09Speaker 5: probably been better. I just think the frequency was the
- 44:12Speaker 5: dilution and trying to do something every Friday night was
- 44:17Speaker 5: the nail in the coffin. For top rank, you got
- 44:19Speaker 5: to have some exclusivity. I don't necessarily agree with pay
- 44:21Speaker 5: per view. I love what the UFC talking about the
- 44:23Speaker 5: Big Bead Wolf is doing with Paramount Plus, but so
- 44:27Speaker 5: I think I think it's gotta be a different structure
- 44:29Speaker 5: to how we have access to fights.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Sure, and sorry if the question seemed off because I'm
- 44:35Speaker 2: bad at hosting, but that's okay because I think we
- 44:37Speaker 2: can all agree that if I ever get fired, Tony'd
- 44:39Speaker 2: be a great first to take over the show. But no, really,
- 44:43Speaker 2: the question is really the question is are we going
- 44:46Speaker 2: to see big stars from top rank ever? Again?
- 44:49Speaker 4: You know, yeah, they have to.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Again talking about development, In my opinion, you sort of
- 44:55Speaker 5: as as currently structured, you have to go through the
- 44:58Speaker 5: top rank ranks to get there, to get to the
- 45:01Speaker 5: PBC event driven side, to get to the global polish
- 45:04Speaker 5: that is match Room. So again, I'm curious to see
- 45:07Speaker 5: how we continue to shift as combat sports shift. But
- 45:10Speaker 5: I think inevitably you will see stars come out of
- 45:13Speaker 5: top rank. I just think most people aren't seeing them
- 45:16Speaker 5: at the top rank level.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Jamison. Where we going to see big names that start
- 45:21Speaker 2: there and stay there or.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I think it's more of a stepping stone because you're
- 45:25Speaker 1: as you can run into a star, you could back
- 45:27Speaker 1: into a star. Right, there's guys who are late bloomers.
- 45:30Speaker 1: There's guys that figure out after you know, you're always
- 45:33Speaker 1: going to have a guy and you're stable that just
- 45:35Speaker 1: it clicks randomly, right, whether he upsets someone whatever, where
- 45:39Speaker 1: the case might be. So there's always gonna be stars. However,
- 45:43Speaker 1: the stars now are way more business minded, in business
- 45:47Speaker 1: savvy than ever before, so they're constantly thinking about branding, marketing,
- 45:52Speaker 1: et cetera, et cetera. So yes, coming up under top
- 45:55Speaker 1: rank is one thing. Staying with top rank, top rank
- 45:58Speaker 1: has to be adjusted. It has to get adjusted to
- 46:01Speaker 1: the two album and twenty sixth and beyond. In order
- 46:04Speaker 1: for that to happen, they have to change some of
- 46:05Speaker 1: their ways and how they're doing business or else they will.
- 46:08Speaker 3: They will contain to those guys.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Very very good points. And yeah, I actually am am
- 46:13Speaker 2: planning to put the Xander's Ice Fight on my phone.
- 46:16Speaker 2: I've never actually done that the two screen, so we'll
- 46:18Speaker 2: see how how well that works. But if somebody in town,
- 46:21Speaker 2: if the neighborhood is playing CHUKR vers tail, I would
- 46:24Speaker 2: like to go out and then have my phone up
- 46:26Speaker 2: on the bar with its pop socket. So we'll see
- 46:29Speaker 2: how that works. But at the end of the day,
- 46:30Speaker 2: I don't know, man, that's the very ideal. Nobody ever
- 46:32Speaker 2: wants to really experience boxing like that, you know, second screen,
- 46:35Speaker 2: tiny phone, But I don't know. I mean, I I
- 46:38Speaker 2: definitely it'd be really cool to see the crowd in
- 46:42Speaker 2: San Juan come out for Xander's eyes. I mean, I
- 46:44Speaker 2: mean again, not to come down and because I'm sure
- 46:47Speaker 2: it's a really really big moment for him, you know,
- 46:49Speaker 2: some hometown pride, Jamison you mentioned before. Puerto Ricans love
- 46:53Speaker 2: Puerto Ricans and they come out for to support.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Their own more than anything.
- 46:58Speaker 2: So I bet that, Yeah, I bet that there's gonna
- 46:59Speaker 2: be a lot of energy in that in that event.
- 47:03Speaker 2: And uh, you know, I kind of hate to I'm
- 47:06Speaker 2: not trying to pooh pooh it. It is just kind
- 47:08Speaker 2: of weird to see. It does feel like it's a
- 47:11Speaker 2: bit of a dumbie ground to put it on this Saturday. Well,
- 47:16Speaker 2: that's cool planning, and anybody can be guilty of that
- 47:21Speaker 2: so cool. Well, let's uh, that's all the topics that
- 47:25Speaker 2: we want to talk about in terms of the news
- 47:26Speaker 2: this Saturday. Check out both Tail Versus Your Core and
- 47:30Speaker 2: Xander Zias versus Barrow, Uh if you can. But I
- 47:33Speaker 2: want to cut into some miscellaneous topics, especially because we
- 47:36Speaker 2: have our guests here and you and I have chatted
- 47:39Speaker 2: about these things when we when we run into each
- 47:41Speaker 2: other at the bar. Uh, let's talk about the face
- 47:45Speaker 2: of Mexican boxing, the future face of Mexican boxing. You know,
- 47:48Speaker 2: Canelo on his way out, has two more fights left
- 47:51Speaker 2: on his RIAT season card with Saudi Arabia, gonna be
- 47:55Speaker 2: skipping Sinco de Mayo because of the surgery, so we're
- 47:58Speaker 2: expecting him to come back in September. So maybe twenty
- 48:01Speaker 2: twenty seven will be the last we see of him
- 48:03Speaker 2: if he decides to retire. So what are your thoughts on, Tony,
- 48:07Speaker 2: What do you think if it's good for Canal to retire,
- 48:09Speaker 2: if it's going to be a loss for the sport
- 48:11Speaker 2: and who the next guys are going to be after him.
- 48:14Speaker 4: I think it's a huge loss. I think it's.
- 48:20Speaker 5: Without overstating, the biggest loss to Mexican boxing since Hoodos
- 48:24Speaker 5: has Travis right, and you hope that Junior was going
- 48:27Speaker 5: to take the lead. But going back to this lack
- 48:29Speaker 5: of discipline and fighters who who are supposed to have it,
- 48:33Speaker 5: you know, he had the disadvantage of having his daddy's name.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Is the other side of it. I don't know. I
- 48:39Speaker 5: think it's going to take multiple guys to make up
- 48:41Speaker 5: the weight. That is kind of a lot of this
- 48:43Speaker 5: as far as the importance, and maybe I'm overstating it,
- 48:48Speaker 5: I will admit my own bias as a boxing fans
- 48:52Speaker 5: has meant a lot in my lifetime because he was
- 48:54Speaker 5: the next dude. So it feels like a big task.
- 48:59Speaker 5: You got guys like people cruise, you got guys like
- 49:02Speaker 5: There are always going to be small guys that come
- 49:04Speaker 5: up the ranks, right, But currently.
- 49:08Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know who it's gonna be.
- 49:10Speaker 5: I don't even know if we've seen them yet, at
- 49:13Speaker 5: least for me, But I can probably catch them on
- 49:16Speaker 5: two B soon.
- 49:19Speaker 2: That's that's fair. Uh Well, and Tony, we did mention
- 49:23Speaker 2: last episode that David Benavitaz is slotting in for Vegas
- 49:27Speaker 2: on May second, which is you know the big event
- 49:29Speaker 2: is this my birthday? Oh excellent, Hell yeah, so yeah,
- 49:33Speaker 2: do you think this is gonna do something for him?
- 49:35Speaker 2: You know, being Mexican American. You know, Canelo was from Mexico,
- 49:39Speaker 2: but Oscarlia is Mexican American. Do we have another Mexican
- 49:43Speaker 2: American coming over to take over the rains like Gloia
- 49:45Speaker 2: did in this David Benavidez.
- 49:47Speaker 5: Man, if it's anyone, it's him. But I do think
- 49:50Speaker 5: that you know nothing. There's no other way to put it.
- 49:53Speaker 5: Nothing carries the weight of a true Mexican fighter. Even
- 49:57Speaker 5: myself as a Mexican American fan, I'm aware of that
- 50:00Speaker 5: until there's a.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Dude who is straight out of Mexico.
- 50:03Speaker 5: And again, I think the battle that boxing is facing
- 50:07Speaker 5: is a lot of these dudes are going to a
- 50:08Speaker 5: different combat sport, right They're choosing mixed martial arts. So
- 50:12Speaker 5: how do we keep the best of the best, How
- 50:14Speaker 5: do we keep those big names when guys are have
- 50:15Speaker 5: an option For the first time in a long.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Time, Benabatas can be that guy.
- 50:20Speaker 5: But I still think that there's no equation in which
- 50:23Speaker 5: a Mexican American fighter can carry the weight of a
- 50:26Speaker 5: true Mexican fighter in regard to popularity and relevance.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Yeah, bold claim, and I appreciate it. I appreciate the
- 50:35Speaker 2: the fight, the fire take. Jamison is somebody who you
- 50:40Speaker 2: know lives in Vegas. His experienced Secret to Mayo many times,
- 50:43Speaker 2: you know, obviously not all the Secret to Mayo stars
- 50:46Speaker 2: or Mexican. You know, Floyd is a big draw in
- 50:48Speaker 2: Vegas for a long long time. What's the difference you
- 50:50Speaker 2: see between do you do you see a difference between
- 50:55Speaker 2: a Mexican fighter, Mexican American fighter or a black fighter
- 50:57Speaker 2: on Secret to Mayo? Or is it just because it's
- 51:00Speaker 2: always an event, people are gonna come out no matter what.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Being an insider.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Uh yeah, that's a great that's actually a great point
- 51:06Speaker 1: Tony brought up. That's a like top top knot. I mean,
- 51:09Speaker 1: dale Way was such a crossover star, so that kind
- 51:11Speaker 1: of don't count because he was It wasn't being Mexican or.
- 51:15Speaker 5: Mexicmarria's one, you know what I mean. He was a
- 51:19Speaker 5: thing that didn't exst that no one had ever seen before, right, right.
- 51:23Speaker 1: So he don't count, Like you can't really count him.
- 51:26Speaker 1: But that's something that I don't think boxing there has
- 51:28Speaker 1: ever seen. That's just something they hit a home run,
- 51:31Speaker 1: it's a totally different thing. But no having a Canelo
- 51:36Speaker 1: being from Mexico being that good for so long. Remember
- 51:40Speaker 1: Canelo has been fighting big fights for like fifteen years now,
- 51:43Speaker 1: Like he's been fighting big prime time like big events
- 51:47Speaker 1: for a long time. When you lose that, you can't
- 51:51Speaker 1: replace it overnight. That don't happen. There's no swapping of that.
- 51:54Speaker 1: You can't Oh, they'll be another one to Martin. No, No,
- 51:57Speaker 1: that takes time to develop. And honestly, between mixed martial
- 52:01Speaker 1: arts and then also boxing, it's kind of weird because
- 52:07Speaker 1: we don't train kids to be boxers anymore. We're training
- 52:12Speaker 1: kids to do a lot of other things. And with
- 52:14Speaker 1: content creating and everything else, there's less and less boxers
- 52:17Speaker 1: coming up than it was when we were younger. There's
- 52:20Speaker 1: a lot less people who were in boxing gyms as
- 52:22Speaker 1: kids and as teenagers and preteens than where we were.
- 52:25Speaker 1: So the pool, even if you're from a different country,
- 52:29Speaker 1: even besides being in Mexico or the US or from
- 52:32Speaker 1: the Islands or wherever, the amount of kids who want
- 52:35Speaker 1: to be boxers is a lot lower than it was
- 52:38Speaker 1: when we were coming up as children, and we were
- 52:39Speaker 1: coming up with young adults. So I think there's a
- 52:42Speaker 1: lot of things that's hurting the pool itself, but replaces
- 52:45Speaker 1: the Canelo shit. Man, we may never get a guy
- 52:50Speaker 1: like that, And it's a perfect storm of being from Mexico,
- 52:53Speaker 1: being really good and being like a star, like being
- 52:58Speaker 1: the overall superstar. It's hard to birth the superstar. Those
- 53:02Speaker 1: don't happen overnight. Those that shit is generational, like Canelos generational,
- 53:08Speaker 1: Floyd was generational, danla Hoya was super generational. That's three
- 53:11Speaker 1: guys in the last thirty years. As great as Terce
- 53:14Speaker 1: Crawford was as amazing as he was, He's not generational,
- 53:18Speaker 1: but he's a hell of a fighter. But as a superstar,
- 53:20Speaker 1: he's not generational. Why this don't happen that way? Tank
- 53:24Speaker 1: Davis had had a window to that, but that's gone.
- 53:28Speaker 1: There's just not a lot of generational superstars back inside Weekend.
- 53:32Speaker 1: And here's the thing about Vegas. It's not just the fight.
- 53:35Speaker 1: You're selling out everything. You're sung at the restaurants, at hotels,
- 53:38Speaker 1: it's at the car rentals. You're sung out all the shit.
- 53:41Speaker 1: So it's bigger than this to fight itself. Canelo did
- 53:44Speaker 1: all that. I have a friend who worked as worked
- 53:46Speaker 1: at the airport. Basically during all Pannell's career, Wednesday night
- 53:50Speaker 1: you saw people coming from Mexico, from Arizona, from Califorifornia,
- 53:54Speaker 1: and from every other state with the with the hats
- 53:57Speaker 1: on and everything with Canelo hear shirts from works the
- 54:00Speaker 1: headband everything from Wednesday to Saturday. I don't see anyone
- 54:05Speaker 1: coming up that's anywhere close to that right now, with
- 54:07Speaker 1: all respect to everyone who's in the running, anyone close
- 54:11Speaker 1: to that.
- 54:11Speaker 3: And that's gonna be hard to come by.
- 54:12Speaker 1: However, it's not impossible because again it's some winning guys
- 54:17Speaker 1: and it can't happen. But right now I don't see
- 54:19Speaker 1: it like that. That's a hard pillow Swallow'm sorry, but
- 54:21Speaker 1: that's that's tough one.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, you know, bussing was always like a way
- 54:26Speaker 2: out of poverty for people in the poorest countries in
- 54:29Speaker 2: the world and Mexico. But you know, you said content
- 54:31Speaker 2: creation could be a thing you could be and sorry
- 54:34Speaker 2: to just kind of repeat a point from last episode,
- 54:37Speaker 2: but you know, you could be a boxer with a
- 54:39Speaker 2: lot of hype on social media and that's gonna get
- 54:42Speaker 2: you some attention. But when you're actually fighting real competition.
- 54:45Speaker 2: That shit doesn't hold up, That doesn't I said that
- 54:51Speaker 2: last episode, I said, I said, right, Garcia and edgar
- 54:54Speaker 2: Bert Langa Tony I mentioned I dropped both those names
- 54:57Speaker 2: of my chest. So yeah, yeah, no, absolutely, So well,
- 55:03Speaker 2: that's a point I never really thought about Jamison. Is
- 55:06Speaker 2: everything is sold that in Vegas when there's a star.
- 55:08Speaker 2: But was there was there a different vibe for Canelo
- 55:12Speaker 2: than like Floyd in that sense or we just equal startup?
- 55:17Speaker 1: It's different because here's the thing, y'all would come out
- 55:20Speaker 1: for both because Floyd always fight pretty much a Mexican
- 55:23Speaker 1: fighter on either a Simon Mile or Mexican Independence weekend, So.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Y'all would be there.
- 55:28Speaker 1: Y'all would be the ones mainly with the numbers, what
- 55:31Speaker 1: it comes to the buying of the tickets, just in
- 55:35Speaker 1: terms of hotels, et cetera.
- 55:37Speaker 3: It's the whole thing.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Put it this way, Canelo is just as big as
- 55:41Speaker 1: Beyonce in terms of song out arena, a song out
- 55:43Speaker 1: of city. That's why I compare it to that's the
- 55:46Speaker 1: power they bring because it's not necessarily the fight. It's
- 55:49Speaker 1: way deeper than just the fight. And I'm not like
- 55:53Speaker 1: I'm this way Beyonce had a cowboy thing tour whatever.
- 55:57Speaker 1: You couldn't find a cowboy hat a city. That's how
- 56:00Speaker 1: big of That's the kind of thing I'm talking about.
- 56:03Speaker 1: So the same thing with Canelo when he came, even
- 56:05Speaker 1: when he fought Crawford, people came out here and droves
- 56:09Speaker 1: to watch him fight and just to be in the city.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Some people need to fight. They was here in the
- 56:13Speaker 1: city because he's fighting. They want to support their guy.
- 56:17Speaker 1: That's something we don't see. That's superstar shit we don't have,
- 56:20Speaker 1: like right now in boxing. I don't see a superstar
- 56:23Speaker 1: in the States right now. I don't see a superstar
- 56:26Speaker 1: that's like young and coming into the prime. I don't
- 56:29Speaker 1: see it right now. It could happen, but I don't
- 56:31Speaker 1: see that. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't currently
- 56:34Speaker 1: see that. And that's why Canelo leaving into fights kind
- 56:37Speaker 1: of sucks because there's no one that's like really closer
- 56:40Speaker 1: placing him.
- 56:42Speaker 5: And Louis as a microcosm of that. You know, I
- 56:44Speaker 5: worked in the beer industry here in town for a while.
- 56:47Speaker 5: I knew guys at the distributors. The amount of VM
- 56:50Speaker 5: see the Canelo beverage, the Vio may cover on this
- 56:53Speaker 5: Seltzer drink. The amount percentage increase on fight week for
- 56:59Speaker 5: Canelo was crazy.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Dog.
- 57:01Speaker 5: I'm talking in the several hundred percent uptick of ordering
- 57:04Speaker 5: more of that stuff because Conela was fighting. So again,
- 57:07Speaker 5: you know, to the point that that reaches fell outside
- 57:09Speaker 5: of Vegas too, especially with a guy who's been as
- 57:12Speaker 5: smart about as brandy as Canela was.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:15Speaker 2: So, I mean I I drank that ship only because
- 57:17Speaker 2: I don't drink a lot of non beer, non liquor.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I don't drink a lot of Celsius. But I bought
- 57:21Speaker 2: that ship because it was Candela's brand, let's be real honest.
- 57:25Speaker 2: Luckily it was also delicious, so I didn't you know?
- 57:28Speaker 4: It was so good. This is not sponsored, not a
- 57:30Speaker 4: pluglious no.
- 57:32Speaker 2: No, but you know what we will. We will take
- 57:35Speaker 2: your buddy vms.
- 57:35Speaker 4: And if you're listening my Mexico covering on this, yeah.
- 57:39Speaker 2: No, we caddos on this thing. But Eddie right, no,
- 57:41Speaker 2: so is know cover on? Yeah, I know you're listening
- 57:46Speaker 2: any but uh yeah, And you know, just to jump
- 57:48Speaker 2: off a quick point point that I agree with our
- 57:51Speaker 2: producer that we have to make you know, I I
- 57:54Speaker 2: disagree Bud Crawford is a generational talent that did not
- 57:56Speaker 2: get the the do he deserved. He did not get
- 57:58Speaker 2: the recognition that he deserved. It's just that he wasn't
- 58:02Speaker 2: didn't fight out big fights enough. But in terms of
- 58:05Speaker 2: pure talent, that man has the talent of a generational.
- 58:08Speaker 1: You know star, I mean so talent wise, yes, I
- 58:11Speaker 1: mean generational. I mean starter where you could sell out
- 58:14Speaker 1: a football stadium by your name. Only Canelo has done
- 58:19Speaker 1: that several times. Floyd and his prime could have done that,
- 58:21Speaker 1: Dale Hoya, that's good. Done that Bud Crawford could. Now
- 58:24Speaker 1: it's not all his fault, but I mean generational. It's
- 58:27Speaker 1: more than just the boxing. It's all pull a package
- 58:30Speaker 1: that that's that's what I'm referring to. But as a
- 58:32Speaker 1: boxer is definitely generational. He's up there all the.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Well, disrespect turns out, Omaha, Nebraska, ain't that marketable.
- 58:42Speaker 1: That's where if you were on you know, if you
- 58:45Speaker 1: were made with Al Hayman or with Golden Boy, maybe
- 58:49Speaker 1: that maybe that turns out to be different.
- 58:51Speaker 3: But it didn't happen. It didn't be there. But no,
- 58:53Speaker 3: but as a.
- 58:53Speaker 5: Boxing promotions maybe that's his next chapter. Right, He's taking
- 58:57Speaker 5: his He's taking the next page as a promoter, maybe
- 59:00Speaker 5: taking a page out of his nemesis, Golden Boy. Right,
- 59:03Speaker 5: maybe that's where his next claim to fame is after boxing.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Fact fact, yeah, I do think he could have sold
- 59:10Speaker 2: that narita after the Canela fight and now that he
- 59:13Speaker 2: had the hype behind it. But also he was already
- 59:14Speaker 2: close to forty, Like if he had fought you know,
- 59:17Speaker 2: I don't know, five or six years before earlier, then
- 59:21Speaker 2: maybe he could have ridden that way. So and that's
- 59:22Speaker 2: kind of the biggest thing. That's the biggest what if
- 59:25Speaker 2: is what could Bud Crawford have become with that hype
- 59:28Speaker 2: after the after beating Canelo And you know something, I'll
- 59:32Speaker 2: never I'll love the rest of my life kind of
- 59:34Speaker 2: wishing I knew.
- 59:34Speaker 5: Yeah, And the sad thing is what could he become
- 59:36Speaker 5: if he was from New York, if he was from
- 59:38Speaker 5: la if he was from Vegas. I think the trajectory
- 59:40Speaker 5: of a fighter like that with that level of talent
- 59:42Speaker 5: would have been very, very different had he had a
- 59:46Speaker 5: different level of exposure. Because it took a lot of
- 59:49Speaker 5: really really good fights, a lot of success from him
- 59:52Speaker 5: before we started talking about him and giving him his Flowers,
- 59:55Speaker 5: and I think if he's from a coast or if
- 59:57Speaker 5: he's from l V, I think that trajectory is very different,
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: much like we're saying we're sha corp here.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Well, it that reminds me of a point. We interviewed
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: award winning boxing journalist Gale Falkenthal, who was at the
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: LA event where he fought Madrimov but did and Eminem
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: had a whole show there and you know, I changed
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: the channel when m Andem came out, but she said
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: that a lot of people were there, huge event, huge arena,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: people saw Eminem and after he played, like thirty percent
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: of the crowd left in LA after Eminem went offstage
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: and didn't even stay for the main event, which is
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: a bummer, but you know what they probably were like,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: if the music sucks, then the fight's gonna suck, or
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: we're just gonna leave, is my take on it. But
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: so goodbye. By the last topic we'll bring up, because
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: I definitely wanted to discuss this with you, Tony. You know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: you made a good point and I want to see
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: if Jameson You've ever done this. You know, Tony mentioned
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: that in close fights you do this thing you like
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: to do the thing where you watch the fight on mute,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: rewatch to see if without bias, without you know, the
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: audience going ooh, or the sound of the the punch
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: is landing. So I'd never heard of that, you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: what did that come from? Is that something that you
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: know people family did, like, what's what's that? What's you
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: take on?
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: You know? I don't even know where I heard it.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: I feel like it was a broadcaster that made the point.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: And I wish I can give credit where credit is due.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: But yeah, when I when I rewatch close fights, I
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: rewatched them and I watched them on mute because I
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: think announcers have their bias.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: I think there could be a lot of motives.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: We talk about the potential for crooked sports, whether it's
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: judges or announcers or or the commission or whatever else.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: And I think when you watch a fight in silence,
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: you get.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: To see really who which punch is hurt without without.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: The announcer going oh, he got him there, or the
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: crowd uproar, because fans will get excited if you're swinging
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: volume and not landing the damn thing, and so you're
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: gonna get a lot of cheer from the crowd.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: And all that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: So I think watching especially close fights on mute decision
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: fights that go the distance, knockouts, there's no disputing them,
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: right unless it's a Jake Pulfi, but we're not talking
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: about that or you know, it's where you get to
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: see who really won five through eight, you know what
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: I mean, who'd won those rounds? And I think, again,
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: I wish, I wish I can remember who said it,
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: But yeah, watching Rewatching fights on mute is really really
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: fun because you get to see the body language of
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: the fighter, You get to see their demeanor in the
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: corner between rounds, you get to see which punch is
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: really hurt and didn't, And I think it really is
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: a more sort of an objective way to watch the
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: fight because, let's face it, in most fights, we also
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: go into it wanting a guy to win, whether it's
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: gambling purposes or other or fandom. We kind of got
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: who we're rooting for too, so we react more to
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: the oohs and the odds. So yeah, watching fights on mute, man,
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: I know we talked about it last time.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: I'll tell you what.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: It's a great decider and trilogies that were undecided when
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: you go back and rewatch fights, who fought a few fighters,
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: who fought a few times.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: But have you ever done that, jamison Er, had you
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: ever heard that taken before?
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's an old school thing. A lot of people
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: the generation before us recommends.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: That because they, you know, remember a lot of them
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: grew up with the small TVs and stuff, so you
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: know they I've heard that before.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: I've never so here that I can block out the
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: commentary in the crowd.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I could if I need to key in on the fight,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I can personally do that, so I don't need to
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: as trying to turn off the value and everything.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: But I have heard that several times. I forgot where
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: I first heard that, but I have heard it.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: And whenever there is a close fight, I'll really pull
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: out a notebook and we'll draw a line fighter, a
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: fighter B and judge fight myself. Now again, the three
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: of us are going to judge the fight differently. There
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: are certain things that Tony you may agree on that
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: deserves to win around that I don't, and vice versa.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Same thing with Luis. At last, be like, you know what,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: that guy's more efficient. You know, he didn't land as much,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: but he was very efficiently landed. I might be well,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: he was out active and you know that won around
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: because I got what this act more right.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: There's different things we value, yeah.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Exactly exactly. So that's why it's very key to be
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: able to stick to the strip. My thing is this,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: are the judges consistent. You can't be one way in
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: one fight and definitely in another fight, and then when
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: it's a close fight, we wonder, why is this card
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: way off? I think that's where things got a hand
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: when it comes to like very questionable decisions. But for
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: the most party, I just think being able to key
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: in on the actual fight is huge. But I personally
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: don't need to turn the sound off. I can look
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: at the fight and judge it, you know, real time,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: and the next day.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: You're a discipline fan, Jamison, because I am so easily
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: influenced by the ras man.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: A lot, because a lot of times when you like now,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I watched it in closer a smaller groups or by myself.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: But back in the day, you know, you go to
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: fight parties and whatnot, everybody's talking about everything else. I'm
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: trying to see the fight, like I'm trying to see
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: who's winning the fight, who's making adjustments is somebody wearing downs.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: I'm really laser. I was on the fight. I don't
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: care about any of the other stuff outside the food
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: being right.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: But so to me, it's just like one of those
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: things where use it that because when you go to
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: five Partis with thirty other people in there, it's easy
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: to get lost in the sauce.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: Sure, I'd say I'm kind of in between both of
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: you guys, because I am can be influenced as well
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: by the ooze and the ohs, and but also the
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: what I always try to look for, and it comes
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: from my history of sparring badly, but I want to
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: see exactly when the punches are actually landing and when
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: they're being blocked, you know. And you know, I was
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: never good at it, but I got pretty good at defense.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Was never good at counterpunching, and I got my ask.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say this's not but there's a certain
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: amount of pride when I was able to well number one,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: walking out of a gym like still on my feet,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: but of just being like, all right, you know, my
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: arm's hurt like hell because I cut all these punches,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: but I'm not actually hurt, you know, I'm sore, but
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: you know, if I was in a ring and people
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: were really going at me, like, I didn't get caught,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I didn't get hurt. So that's kind of where I
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: focus is. And a problem too, is that a lot
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: of the judges reward aggression. You know, when somebody is
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: more active and they're throwing punches even if they're not landing.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: That's that goes a long way. Not to take anything
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: away from CLARESSA Shield, who's an amazing fighter, but she's
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: got a pattern if she if she lands something, her
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: next movie is just start throwing, throwing, throwing throwing, and
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: it looks good and it works. But yeah, like I've
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: always kind of really focused on what is actually landing,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: what is actually hitting, and is the person kind of
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: getting hurt by their reaction. You know when somebody I've
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: tried to throw punches, but I kind of watch to
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: see where it lands, and then I opened my dumb
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: ass up to take a CounterPunch really badly in the face.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: So but definitely watching a fight on mute and the
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: only sound being the cracking of the beers, that's I
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: haven't tried it yet, but something I definitely want to
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: because it's really really interesting. So yeah, no, I appreciate
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: that that tip. And for anybody out there, you know
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: who wants to see boxing in a different light, try that.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: So uh man, this shows out a fucking fire. This
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: has been a fantastic episode. Man, I that's pretty much
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: all I had. I can't thank Tony for being here enough. Tony,
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: is there any place where people you know, we want
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: people to follow you on social media? Anything you want
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: to plug or you just want to be a private
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: dude that nobody knows.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: You know, candidly, I don't have much of a social presence.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: I'm a pretty private dude. Most likely to catch me
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: on FanDuel and or DraftKings. But no, man, no, no, no,
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: no plugs for me. I just hope that boxing fans
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: enjoyed this episode. I hope that we have some good
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: fights this weekend, even the ones on two B and

- 1:07:39Speaker 5: because you know, we're waiting for that next dude and
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: we'll see who's ready to carry the torch.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Hell yeah, and you know what, I'll go ahead and
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: give a plug for you. People can find Tony back

- 1:07:58Speaker 2: social media?
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: First of all, tun was amazing. He do with shit.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: He wasn't a fake boxing fan. He was able to
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: break down a lot different things. So Tony appreciate you
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: taking the time out of your day. I first juring
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: the week, I definitely appreciate it for sure. But for
