- 0:41The f A. Hey, y'all, welcome to today's show. I hope
- 1:02everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Boy, I know I ate too much.
- 1:08Wow, Yeah, definitely. And then you follow Thanksgiving with the feast day
- 1:14of Christ the King, and yes, much turkey and gravy and etc.
- 1:22Was consumed. So I am going to try and keep today's show a little
- 1:26bit shorter. You know, I was running a little long a couple episodes
- 1:30last week. Ideally I'd like this show to be around thirty minutes, you
- 1:34know, I'd like it to not be I think it'd be convenient for you.
- 1:38So today I'm going to do my best to keep it a little bit
- 1:42shorter, and you know, we'll just see how it goes. Let's go
- 1:47ahead and start with a couple of questions and answers from radio replies, as
- 1:52we always did. That classic book from nineteen thirty one where anti Catholic and
- 1:57atheist and etcetera. People asked questions of two Catholic priests and they answered them
- 2:02on the radio. It turned into three volumes of some of the best works
- 2:07and apologetics there there is. And you know, this is good. This
- 2:10is good, you know, pre Vatican to classic let's just say they're not
- 2:17touchy feely. These priests are not They're not of the uh, I'm ok,
- 2:24you're okay persuasion. The person asks, can the infallible Catholic Church?
- 2:34They're being facetious, of course, give me the chemical equation of the reaction
- 2:38which took place when Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt. They
- 2:44answered, the church does not exist to dispense chemical equations. But your question
- 2:50is not based upon reason. Probably Sodom and Gamarrow were destroyed by natural agencies
- 2:55set in movement by God with earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Rock salt abounds in
- 3:00that region, and an upheaval of that material could easily have overwhelmed and embedded
- 3:05Lot's wife because of her delay, leaving a standing killock of salt as her
- 3:10memorial. Or it could have been completely allegorical. The you know, pillar
- 3:20of salt could have been a metaphor, or God could have just literally turned
- 3:23her in as salt. Who knows, but there is you know, from
- 3:29my readings, or has for a long time been just you know, sort
- 3:34of mound of salt that people have identified as you know, being the remains
- 3:39of Lot's wife in that region, who knows, you know, I had
- 3:46I would say, I am not a literalist. You know, God created
- 3:52the world, no doubt how he created I have no idea. Yeah,
- 3:57that's just me. Yeah, And everyone really can make their own vision on
- 4:00that. In fact, the Catechism says that when asked about the question of
- 4:03evolution, the Catechism says, you know, we basically do not believe that
- 4:09God that man evolved from apes, but we don't deny evolution, and how
- 4:15God made the world. We don't know, because things do certainly change of
- 4:19her time. I don't, I mean, they don't. The Chathola Church
- 4:21does not deny evolution as a scientific principle, but does not embrace it as
- 4:29the origin of the species. They really just kind of lead that up to
- 4:33the the individual's understanding, because no one knows how God does anything, the
- 4:43person says. Deuteronomy thirteen says that a husband should stone his own wife to
- 4:47death if she tried to persuade him to join her in idolatry. Well,
- 4:53now, says Ingersol, and you may remember Ingersol was a famous Agnostic.
- 4:58In late eighteen hundred, Ingersoll says, I hate a god of that kind
- 5:02and would not do it. Did God make a mistake? Or is Deuteronomy
- 5:06wrong? They answer, Ingersoll, as usual, makes many mistakes. Firstly,
- 5:13he forgot the theocratic nation nature of the nation of the Jews. At
- 5:16that time, God was the direct ruler of the Jews, and idolatry was
- 5:20going over the king to the king's enemies, and an act of treason even
- 5:25in the temporal order. And God had full rights over life and death.
- 5:30God has full rights over life and death. Secondly, if Ingersoll were a
- 5:33judge administering the law of the land, and his own relatives were criminals brought
- 5:39before him, he would have to act according to the law with impartial justice.
- 5:44He could not condemn others and exempt his relatives simply because they were his
- 5:48relatives. Thirdly, Almighty God took necessary precautions to bring home to the Jews
- 5:54the full matter, the full malice of a bashem of blasphemous idolatry. Ingersoll,
- 6:00with childish imagination, concentrates upon material detail, ignoring the vital reasons behind
- 6:08them. Ingersoll's mistakes are nearly as great as those of a man who takes
- 6:13him as a mental and religious guide. Regarding his every utterance as infallible.
- 6:18In other words, the only person that gets things more wrong than Ingersoll were
- 6:24those who believed in Ingersoll. He was actually quite influential, quite influential in
- 6:29America a lot. He had a big effect on what we would call now
- 6:35the progressive movement, certainly the Masonic Order. He was a Mason. I
- 6:46read he was a Mason. I assume that is true. I won't have
- 6:49proof of it. I haven't seen the man at a picture from nineteen hundred
- 6:54wearing an apron and a Masonic ring, but I believe he was the person
- 7:00goes on. Ingersoll says God taught polygamy. I had denounce it as the
- 7:05infamy of infamies. Well, they answer, God did not teach polygamy.
- 7:10He permitted it because of men's weakness and frailty without the help of Christianity,
- 7:15and because it was not opposed to the primary end of the natural law.
- 7:18Ingersoll may constitute himself the supreme dictator of moral law and give his irrevocable decisions,
- 7:26but the fact remains that his deliberate distortions of the truth are far more
- 7:30guilty than the frailty of men owing to their bodily passions, and again the
- 7:36person says, well, let's see they have two questions here about Jacob's Well,
- 7:40just not goes up. God blessed Jacob to who robbed his brother Esau
- 7:45and lied to his father, They answered, God did not rob Esau.
- 7:49Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, and Jacob obtained blessings which belonged not to
- 7:55Esau but himself. When Isaac asks, argue, my son, Esau,
- 8:00he really wished to know whether he was speaking to the son to whom he
- 8:03should give the blessing. Jacob, knowing that he was the son who should
- 8:07receive it, replied in the affirmative. Even if we were to accuse Jacob
- 8:11of a lie, that sin would not destroy the right to the blessing,
- 8:15or his right to the blessing, I should say, because Esau had traded
- 8:18it. In this case, God did not inspire the lie which was Jacob's
- 8:22sin. God did inspire the right of the Sacred book to describe the event
- 8:26just as it happened. Of course, God ratified Jacob's right to the blessing.
- 8:31And the person says, how could Jacob wrestle with an angel? And
- 8:35the answer an angel receive power from God to employ physical force, as did
- 8:39the angel who rolled away the stone from the sepulture of Christ. Jacob was
- 8:43detained against his will in a given place, and naturally described his vain efforts
- 8:48as struggling with an angel. In other words, they're saying that's allegorical.
- 8:54No, there may have been an actual angel that he struggled with, but
- 8:58he was detained in the place again aainst his will and described it as struggling
- 9:01with an angel, as they say Saint paul I speaks of an angel to
- 9:07buffet him when alluding to physical trials. All right, let's get on to
- 9:16Father Spirago's book, The Exhaustive Explanation of the Catechism, which is so delightfully
- 9:24written it's certainly not exhausting to read, even if it is an exhaustive explanation
- 9:28of the subject. And this is again we're still discussing the difference between the
- 9:39Catholic belief of sacred tradition. The Apostles, having written the Bible, the
- 9:46New Testament, compiled the Bible, authorized the Bible, the oral tradition of
- 9:50the Church combined with the Bible, is the authority we follow as to as
- 9:56opposed to the belief of Protestants in the Bible alone. Somehow, they kind
- 10:03of seem to think the Bible existed before the Church, when the Bible actually
- 10:07wasn't published until the Church had been around for some three hundred years. It's
- 10:11longer than America's even existed. There was a church before there was a Bible.
- 10:16I mean, were there no church, there'd be no Bible. Where
- 10:18there no Bible, there'd still be the oral traditions of the Church and written,
- 10:26you know, just written in books other than the Bible. The teachings
- 10:31that Jesus gave to his apostles that aren't written in the Bible, those teachings
- 10:35which gave birth to the Bible. But the Bible itself says it's not complete,
- 10:41you know. The Protestant argument literally makes no sense. If the Bible
- 10:45alone is the sole authority, then one cannot be a Christian without a Bible.
- 10:48And yet well over three hundred years there was no Christian Bible. It
- 10:56was being written and compiled and then translated by Saint Jerome, and then for
- 11:03a thousand years after that, plus most people couldn't read the Bible because they
- 11:07were illiterate and that's really well, that's really why a lot of Protestant churches
- 11:15were founded, because the preacher could stand up there and say this is what
- 11:20the Bible means and what he was saying, like you know Martin Luther when
- 11:24he changed the words of Jesus to faith alone instead of faith and works,
- 11:30when he cooked cut books he didn't like out of the Bible. Preachers could
- 11:33stand before illiterate people and say absolutely false things. Heretical teachings. And those
- 11:41people could not read the Bible, they were illiterate. Their only authority was
- 11:48the preacher standing before them in the pulpit. And that's why. I mean,
- 11:52they're fifty thousand Protestant denominations, depending on how you count them. You
- 11:56know, some people say five thousand. But then you know you have Old
- 12:01Lutherans and Reformed Lutherans, and you know, Southern Baptists and Regular Baptists.
- 12:07You know, you got on the list, and you can count out to
- 12:09about fifty thousand denominations, all of whom disagree with each other on doctrine and
- 12:18theology, and each of whom disagree with the Catholic Church. Where does that
- 12:24come from? Well, if there was one, there's only one truth,
- 12:26right, Well, if there only been one Bible, you know, ninety
- 12:33percent of those churches wouldn't exist because Martin Luther took the Bible and changed it,
- 12:37and since then many people have changed the Bible. I mean, the
- 12:41King James version is incredibly flawed and totally incomplete, but it's nothing compared to
- 12:46like the Good News Bible of the seventies, you know what sounded like Cheech
- 12:50and Chong wrote it. I mean, we could go on down the list
- 12:54to some of the awful Seven Day Adventist Bibles that were written by They were
- 13:01taken from the original Greek translated by people who didn't speak Greek, so they
- 13:07were literally just had a dictionary, you know that translates one word to another,
- 13:11a word in Greek to a word in English, and it doesn't put
- 13:16things in context, and it doesn't make grammatical sense. And there's like,
- 13:20you know, there's darkness moving over the waters, and the darkness was in
- 13:24the darkness, and I mean it's crazy stuff because they're not using the original
- 13:31Bible because they reject the authority of the Catholic Church who authored it. I
- 13:37mean, yeah, God's the author of the Bible, but he speaks from
- 13:39men. The men had to write. The Holy Spirit inspired the apostles who
- 13:46either wrote or dictated the books of the Bible of the New Testament, and
- 13:50then guided them in choosing the divinely inspired books of the Old Testament. There
- 13:56are many, many, many, and I mean I've got a whole collection
- 13:58of it, of books that didn't make it into the final cut. Through
- 14:05the power of the Holy Spirit, the Church had the authorities say that book's
- 14:07not divinely inspired, it's just a Jewish historical book, you know. Or
- 14:11this one's actually you know, false, it's heretical, like you know,
- 14:15the Gnostics in I guess about two hundred maybe even a little earlier, wrote
- 14:20a book called the Gospel of Judas. It was purely I mean, not
- 14:26only heretical, it was demon inspired. I mean it presented Judas as the
- 14:31hero, you know, and absolutely in opposition to Christian teaching. So of
- 14:39course there was one authority on earth that could say that's not sacred scripture,
- 14:43and that was the Catholic Church. And I don't think any Protestant churches ever
- 14:48were fooled by that one either. But why not, Well, because they
- 14:54inherited a Bible in which you know, the council, and I see it
- 15:00was an I see it. No anyway, it doesn't matter. But the
- 15:03Holy Catholic Church said, these are the books that are holy, divinely inspired.
- 15:09You know, this is the words of God. These aren't, and
- 15:13we don't have anything to do with them. And some of them are actually
- 15:16false and evil. And I think it was Saint Jerome that said a false
- 15:22translation of the Bible was essentially the work of Satan. So all these Protestant
- 15:28Bibles, well, what would Saint Jerome say about him? I mean he
- 15:37said specifically, you know, a bad translation of the Bible is worse than
- 15:41no Bible at all, but that these false translations were actually the work of
- 15:46the devil. So what do I say. I mean, someone literally like
- 15:52worships the King James Bible like an idol, you know, say this is
- 15:58the word of God. Actually know the Dewey Rams, which was written about
- 16:04the same time, published about the same time. I guess I should say,
- 16:08is a far more accurate tradition. You want to the word of God,
- 16:11read the Dewey Rams that was once respected by Protestants, and I mean
- 16:17by Catholics and Protestants alike. You could walk into a Presbyterian Methist church,
- 16:22especially Methodists. We always had the dewey Rams. When I was being confirmed
- 16:26into the Methodist Church at the age of ten, it was a reference that
- 16:30was used. We had more modern Bibles, we had the dewy Raams.
- 16:33No one said, that's a Catholic Bible, don't read it. But somehow
- 16:37in like the I don't know, just really the last few decades, especially
- 16:40Baptists, are like, the King James is the authority. Well no,
- 16:45I mean, it's just a Bible that was approved by an English guy,
- 16:49you know, believe it or not. Jesus Christ was not English, and
- 16:53neither were any of his apostles. So anyway, and it's been revised some
- 16:59thirty some times because of errors that even they admit are in it. So,
- 17:03I mean, if you can't, if you don't want to for some
- 17:06reason, read the original Bible, is you know, translated by Saint Jerome
- 17:11Biblio Sacra volgada, the Bible of the Common Language, which was Latin at
- 17:15the time, read the dewey Rams, which is essentially a word for word
- 17:18translation using the rules of grammar, which is actually quite important. So and
- 17:26then you know, they're more modern Bibles. The one I reference the most
- 17:32is the Revised Standard Edition. It's a great Bible, gosh, compared to
- 17:37the NIV, the New inter National Version, the NIV, that's not a
- 17:44good Bible at all at all. Not only is it incomplete, but it's
- 17:48inaccurate. So you know, get a good Bible, and that means a
- 17:52Catholic Bible if you really want to know what the Apostles taught. I mean,
- 17:57you know, Martin Luther to start cut now the Book of Maccabees because
- 18:00he didn't like the idea of people praying for the dead, and he didn't
- 18:03like the teaching of purgatory. Prods say, where's the Bible tell you about
- 18:07purgatory? Well, it actually was in there. You know, Martin Luther
- 18:11tore it out. He didn't like it. So you don't know it because
- 18:15you know, five hundred years ago approximately, some you know, jackass Loser
- 18:21cut up the Bible, and that's the Bible you have. So when prodests
- 18:25say where does it say it in the Bible, Well, the first thing
- 18:26you say to him is where does the Bible say that all Jesus taught was
- 18:30in the Bible? It doesn't. It actually says the opposite. It says
- 18:34that all he did, wouldn't feel, would feel more books than there were
- 18:37in the entire world. But no, you don't have a complete Bible,
- 18:47I mean seriously, and even the parts that you do have you deny.
- 18:51Like where Jesus said to his apostles, those who sends you forgive, they
- 18:55are forgiven. Those who sends you retain, they are retained. I mean,
- 19:00Catholics believe that, Or when he said, you know this, truly,
- 19:03truly, this is my body. This bread is my body, This
- 19:07wine is my blood. Unless you eat of it and drink of it,
- 19:10you have no life in you. You know. He said it over and
- 19:11over and over, and I mean like every single grammatical context he made as
- 19:18perfectly clear as he possibly could in Aramaic, just as he did when he
- 19:25just said that Saint Peter would well Simon bar Jonah, Simon's son of Jonah
- 19:30would be Peter the rock Petris that Cephas in Aramaic. He made it as
- 19:38perfectly clear as possible, and people turn themselves inside out trying to deny it.
- 19:42But beyond that, don't you just want a Bible that was the actual
- 19:48Bible used by the apostles, you know, I mean they were writing it,
- 19:52they were compiling it there. You know, I have going to be
- 19:56a couple of generations before people would actually have that Bible, but they were
- 20:00working to put it together. And it said in the Ranks of the Church
- 20:03Fathers that the Gospels as they were recorded by the Apostles were read aloud in
- 20:11every Catholic church every Sunday, the proper day for Christians to go to church,
- 20:15as explained in the d do Ka and the Ranks of the early Church
- 20:18Fathers, without the complete Bible. I mean, look, the Protestant Bible
- 20:26did not exist for the first fifteen hundred or so years of the Church.
- 20:30Don't you want to see what maybe your ancestors were reading a thousand years ago,
- 20:36or having read to them if they were not literate people. I would,
- 20:41if I was looking for the truth, I mean, you know,
- 20:45I would actually want to know what was in the Bible before Martin Luther started
- 20:51cutting it up and changing it. If you don't, hey, that's up
- 20:53to you, right Well, Father's for August says the truth of divine revelation
- 21:00which have not been written down in the pages of holy scripture, but have
- 21:03been transmitted by word of mouth are called tradition. The apostles received, and
- 21:10he made a great point, you know, listening to last week's show.
- 21:12He gave us a church. He didn't give us a book. Jesus founded
- 21:18a church. He didn't give us a book. The church gave us the
- 21:22book. The apostles received from our Lord the command to preach, not to
- 21:27write. Their writings were concerned more with the doings than the teachings of Christ.
- 21:33Hence their instructions on points of doctrine are very incomplete. They themselves say
- 21:38there's much that they have delivered to the faithful by word of mouth. Dad,
- 21:42you can reference Second John, chapter twelve, First Corinthians, Second John
- 21:48twenty one twenty five, and different translations of the Bible do number verses differently,
- 21:53So look for that in that approximately the approximate area. Accordingly, we
- 22:00refer to tradition. It is by tradition that we know that our Lord institute
- 22:03the seven sacraments. It is by tradition that we are taught that there is
- 22:07purgatory, that Sunday is to be kept holy, and that infants are to
- 22:12be baptized. All those things I just said. Baptists are now standing on
- 22:15their heads screaming they don't believe in infant Baptist can't tell you why. Really,
- 22:22the Bible says that the jailer and his whole household were baptized. Didn't
- 22:26say his whole household except the infants, the small children. You know,
- 22:30there was never that distinction made in anywhere in the New Testaments to acts anything.
- 22:37Everyone in a family was baptized. And the reason is because baptism opens
- 22:44one of the Holy Spirit and protects one from demonic possession. A baptized person
- 22:48cannot be demon possessed against their will and joins one into the body of Christ.
- 22:55It's actually a mortal sin for a Catholic parent not to have their child
- 23:00baptized at the first possible opportunity in order to save their soul. Protestants don't
- 23:06really believe in the efficacy of the sacraments. They say baptism is just symbolic.
- 23:10Well, okay, take that position. If it's just symbolic, why
- 23:14wouldn't you let children be baptised, why wouldn't you letfant baptize? I mean,
- 23:17what's the problem, right? You can't have it both ways? They
- 23:21say someone shouldn't be baptized until they can understand and profess their faith in God.
- 23:26Okay, but if it's just symbolic, what matters? What difference does
- 23:33it make? Why are you criticizing Catholics for baptizing infants. You cannot have
- 23:37it both ways. Either it's real, in which case you need to get
- 23:40your children baptized right away, or it's false, in which case it doesn't
- 23:48matter. But by their reasoning, if one had to have full understanding in
- 23:52order to have faith in God, what if the mentally handicapped? Seriously,
- 24:00are they going to Hell? I tell you absolutely or not? They're like,
- 24:04you know, the most angelic of humans on earth. A retarded child
- 24:08is the sweetest thing you ever encounter. But I mean, what of the
- 24:14Protestant argument that one cannot be baptized until one can understand fully and have that
- 24:21belief in God. That's part of solifide through faith alone. Faith comes through
- 24:26understanding. Faith comes through belief. So they say one cannot be baptized as
- 24:30an infant, Well, did they just damn all retarded people, mentally handicapped
- 24:36people for eternity? I mean, you know, take their teaching out to
- 24:42its logical end, and it falls apart every single time. See accordingly we
- 24:52refer to tradition. I just said that it is tradition which teaches us what
- 25:00books belong the Holy Scripture. As it just said, it is the Church
- 25:03who decide what books would be in the Bible through tradition that comes through the
- 25:07Apostles, through the authority given them through Jesus Christ when he said, those
- 25:11who hear you hear me, and those who reject you reject him who sent
- 25:15me. Tradition comes down to us from the time of the Apostles, just
- 25:19as those who follow the course of a stream gradually drawn near to the fountain
- 25:23head, and thus discover how far the water flows. So we can search
- 25:29out the historical sources of the teaching of the earliest centuries of the Church and
- 25:33arrive at her true doctrine. Every doctrine has always been believed in by the
- 25:38Universal Church, and comes down to us from the Apostles. If therefore,
- 25:44there is any doctrine of the Church we do not find Holy Scripture, we
- 25:48shall find it in the stream of tradition, and shall be able to trace
- 25:52it up to the first ages of Christianity. Very true you know, get
- 25:56a book of the early Church fathers. You know, read Pope's sake,
- 26:00Clement the first who was taught by the Apostles himself, Saint Barnabas. Maybe
- 26:10they haven't ever actually been able to verify that Barnabas from the Bible could have
- 26:14been one of his students, but will tell you exactly what Christians thought in
- 26:18the first century. But they have been able to verify its age and its
- 26:21authenticity, just not its authorship. Saint Ignatius, certainly, and another one
- 26:26who was taught by the Apostles himself, Saint Polycarp, Saint Justin Martyr,
- 26:33Saint Ironaeus. Get the d dot a the Teachings of the Twelve Apostles is
- 26:38literally what that means if you want to know what the early Church actually did
- 26:42and thought and believed in practiced. The chief the chief sources of tradition are
- 26:51the writings of the fathers, the decrees of the councils, and the creeds
- 26:55and prayers of the Church. The followers of the Church, those who were
- 26:57distinguished in the early ages of the Church by their great learning and holiness,
- 27:02such as Saint Justin, Saint Justin Martyr, philosopher and jealous defender of the
- 27:07Christian religion. Saint Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, Saint Cyprian, Bishop of
- 27:11Carthage. Many of these were disciples of the Apostles and are termed Apostolic fathers,
- 27:18such as Saint Ignacious, Bishop of Antioch eighty one oh seven. I
- 27:22was probably should give you the years these guys were around, right, They're
- 27:26all in the first you know, one hundred years of the church. Seriously,
- 27:30they learned directly from the Apostles. The doctors of the church were those
- 27:34who in later times were distinguished, distinguished for their learned writings and their sanctity.
- 27:41There are four great Greek doctors. Saint ath Nauseus. I think it's
- 27:47the way he pronounced that, Saint Bazore Basil, Saint Gregory the Great,
- 27:52Saint John Christostom, and for Latin Saint Saint andrews Ambrose. I'm at say,
- 27:57Saint Augustine, Saint Jerome, and Pope Gregory. That's Gregory the Great,
- 28:03the two Gregory's. I just realize that anyway, he makes the distinction
- 28:08that Pope Gregory the Latin one was called Gregory the Great. I guess I've
- 28:14actually been confusing those two. Over time in the Middle Ages, there were
- 28:17four other great doctors of the church. Saint Anselom, Archbishop of Canterbury.
- 28:22Hey, you English, y'all that worshiped the King James Bible, just because
- 28:27it comes from the English. Why not look to see what Saint Anselm Anselom,
- 28:32Archbishop of Canterbury, actually wrote you to find out the Christian religion was
- 28:38very Catholic. Saint Bernard Abbot of Clairvaux, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and Saint
- 28:45Bonaventure. Bonaventure, I guess among the most distinguished doctors of later times was
- 28:52Saint Francis to Sell And yeah, he's absolutely one of my favorites. Actually
- 28:56he was Bishop of Geneva, and Saint alfonsis another favorite. We shall speak
- 29:03hereafter of the decrees of councils and creeds and the sources of tradition. The
- 29:07prayers of the Church are to be found primarily in the Missile, but also
- 29:11in other books used in the administration of the sacraments and rites of the Church,
- 29:15such as the d d KA for instance. Thus we find in the
- 29:18Missile Prayers. Thus we find in the Missile prayers for the dead, whence
- 29:22it follows that the Church teaches their efficacy. Yes, the Church has prayed
- 29:27for the dead from the very beginning of the Church. We believe in purgatory,
- 29:33and we believe in the commune of Saints, which means the prayers of
- 29:37Christians on earth benefits the souls in purgatory, and the prayers of those in
- 29:42heaven benefit the Christians on earth. We are all one part of the body
- 29:48of Christ. And again, even if you totally rejected every thing outside of
- 29:55the Bible, like all Catholic tradition from the d do k to the earliest
- 30:00writings of the early Church fathers to the modern missile, if you just had
- 30:03a complete Bible that included the two books of Maccabees, well one, you
- 30:10know why Jews celebrate Hanukkah that that's actually the story of the Maccabees. But
- 30:18do incredible books as well. You've see incredible martyrs for their faith. I
- 30:22mean, yeah, I honestly, I think Martin Luther was one of the
- 30:27motives perhaps for him taking him out was it was a bit anti Semitic and
- 30:33he did not want to show Jews in being in that light of having a
- 30:37strong faith and sacrificing and dying and being tortured for their faith under the Greeks.
- 30:45Maybe, but it says in I guess it's second Maccabees, prayers for
- 30:52the dead are very efficacious. Prayers for the dead are efficacious. Praying for
- 30:57the dead does it helps their eternal souls? Christians, all Christians, not
- 31:04a single one doubted that or deny it for fifteen hundred years. And then
- 31:10Martin Muser's like, yeah, I don't like that part. I'm just gonna
- 31:11rip it out. And so you don't have that in your Bible if you're
- 31:17Protestant, and that's the only reason you doubt the church is teaching the Catholic
- 31:21Church. You know, if you just had a complete Bible, you might
- 31:26be amazed what you'd find. I know, I was boy Hoti. I
- 31:32was absolutely angry. I grew up on the NIV and the King James.
- 31:37We did that, Like I said, we had the duey Riam. So
- 31:40I was aware there were other books in the Bible, but they were like
- 31:45never, never taught from, never spoken of. And I guess the Bible
- 31:51I was given when I became Methodists and actually also had like legends in it.
- 31:55About dragons and all kinds of weird stuff. I don't get that.
- 32:00I mean, that was in there, but the actual books of the original
- 32:04Catholic Bible were not. Yeah, I remember being kind of confused by that.
- 32:10But yeah, when I was like, you know, early twenties and
- 32:14I started, I found out that my Bible wasn't complete and it was inaccurate.
- 32:17And the first thing I did was get the Revised Standard I'm looking at
- 32:23it right now. This is my original Bible. When I became Catholic at
- 32:27age twenty four, the Ignacious Holy Bible, Revised Standard Edition, the Revised
- 32:31Standard Version, Catholic Edition. And I read the Book of Wisdom and it
- 32:37blew me away. I read Sirac, I read Tobit. You know,
- 32:45the angel in Tobait heard the righteous man's prayers, took him to God.
- 32:50God sent him to earth to do something, you know, to help the
- 32:52man. That's Catholic teaching. It used to be all Christian teaching. Maccabees
- 32:55though, And I think Scott han said the same thing when he first read
- 33:01Macabee's I was angry that this book had not been included in my Bible.
- 33:07And he said the same thing, and he's a much more mild manner man,
- 33:09doctor Scott Han than I am. If you read that, it will
- 33:14make you so angry that these heroes of the faith. These, I mean,
- 33:23every child needs a hero, right and what better hero than a saint
- 33:29who charges into battle or who gives him his life for his faith. These
- 33:34were taken from us and really in their place, especially in Germany. And
- 33:38let's not forget that Martin Luther was German. A lot of anti Semitism,
- 33:45a lot of hatred of Jews was sung. You know, at least when
- 33:50those books were still in the Bible, we could say, yeah, you
- 33:52know what, Christians and Jews haven't always gotten along. Obviously, in the
- 33:57early years of the Church, the Jews really persecuted and tried to kill the
- 34:00Christians. And then there were a backlashed a couple of times where Christians tried
- 34:05to kill Jews, and then people, you know, pretty much figured out
- 34:07how to live together a little mutual respect. You know. Actually, Christians
- 34:12and Jews were living right side by side in the Holy Land, you know,
- 34:15Bethlehem and such, until the Muslims came in and that kind of started
- 34:21the crusades. But you take out those heroes of the Bible, those proud
- 34:30Jews of the Maccabees, who would die and and betroy their children, tortured
- 34:37to death, tongues ripped out, skin, built off, burned alive because
- 34:40they would not worship Greek gods and abandon Judaism. Frankly, without those those
- 34:50two books, you cannot understand why there was such a division. You know,
- 34:57why the Jews were so up set by Jesus teaching. I mean,
- 35:01he said I basically said I am God, and by saying that he was
- 35:06a blasphemer under Mosaic law and had to be killed. I mean, now
- 35:14anyway, it's just it is, it is so wrong that what Martin Luther
- 35:20and others did you need a complete Bible. I don't care if you're a
- 35:22Protestant who hates every word I've said, Okay, if you believe that Christianity
- 35:30is more than five hundred years old, you know, obviously Jesus, you
- 35:36know, died and rose again about two thousand years ago, and there was
- 35:39there were Christians for a good fifteen hundred years in between, and they had
- 35:45one complete Bible, one accurate Bible. All other false Bibles were condemned from
- 35:51the time of the successors of the Apostles, you know who wrote down what
- 35:57they said and you know, actually were can translate and finally publish the whole
- 36:01Bible, you know, about three hundred years if Jesus was resurrected, Just
- 36:07get a real Bible, Get the Bible that was used a thousand years ago.
- 36:10You know, obviously a lot of these new Bibles are really bad translations.
- 36:15You can't say a Bible as a Bible as a Bible, right If
- 36:19you think the King James version is just like the ultimate authority, well why
- 36:23not just get a Bible that was published two hundred years before it and just
- 36:28compare the two or five hundred years before it, or a thousand years before
- 36:31it, or like I said, get a Dewey of Rings which was once
- 36:37respected by both Catholics and Protestants, and just see. You know what am
- 36:44I missing? What do you got to lose? I mean, if you
- 36:47believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit, why wouldn't you want the
- 36:52books that were tossed out by Martin Luther? Get the original? You know,
- 36:57goe to the source. That's what we do, I mean anything when
- 37:00we're researching history, the original source is always the most accurate anyway, y'all.
- 37:07I don't know how I can say it any more clearly. And I
- 37:09know most you know, Protestants who listen to this, You'll you'll have Mormons
- 37:15who will say, oh, the book you know, a Book of Mormon
- 37:17is superior to the Bible. That's other heresy, that's absolute, you know,
- 37:22apostate heresy. And you'll still have Baptists will say, though I don't
- 37:29believe anything outside of the King James. Well, I mean, if you're
- 37:32going to remain in ignorance, you're going to remain in ignorance. But you
- 37:37know, if the King James had been accurate, it wouldn't have been revised
- 37:40so many times. They wouldn't keep finding errors in it anyway. You know,
- 37:49I don't know what more to say. Just pray, hope, and
- 37:52don't worry in the words of Saint Padre Pio, and I'll talk to you
- 37:55next time.
