- 0:00Speaker 1: The emotions of Mariah Carey at 106.7 Light FM. Cubby
- 0:03Speaker 1: and Christine in the morning. Producer Kristen producing our show
- 0:06Speaker 1: on this October 29th. It was National Black Cat Day yesterday.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Today's National Cat Day.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Oh, every cat.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Everybody's kind of encompassed.
- 0:14Speaker 2: All the cats get involved. Yes.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Okay, nice.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's National Oatmeal Day. Do you ever eat oatmeal? I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: not a big fan, to be honest.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I haven't in a long time. I was always, I
- 0:23Speaker 2: got those little. packets that are probably, you know, made
- 0:26Speaker 2: for 12 year olds because they're all flavored up and everything.
- 0:29Speaker 2: All the good stuff is that I like that.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Kristen oatmeal fan. Nah, lukewarm on it.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Steel oats are supposed to be good for you, right? Really?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Uh, world internet day is today.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It's our life.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It's world stroke day and it's national hermit day, which
- 0:46Speaker 1: means a day to just be left alone.
- 0:48Speaker 2: If you want, I'll stay inside all day.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I'll be, are you going to be inside
- 0:53Speaker 1: on Halloween night? How are you dealing with the trick-or-treaters?
- 0:56Speaker 2: You know, I've never done this before, Cubby. I usually
- 0:59Speaker 2: love to answer the door and see everybody. Eric and
- 1:01Speaker 2: I may go out for a bit, and I might
- 1:03Speaker 2: leave the bowl out there, but it's the first year
- 1:06Speaker 2: that I have a ring camera.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Oh, that'd be fun.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'll be able to at least see their costumes and
- 1:12Speaker 2: who shows up. I feel bad for the kids. They
- 1:14Speaker 2: go to all this effort. They want to at least
- 1:15Speaker 2: be able to go trick-or-treat and, you know.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Well, you know what? You'll be on the sofa, and
- 1:19Speaker 1: you can just talk through your iPhone and On the microphone. Oh, yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 1: you're right.
- 1:23Speaker 2: You look good, kids.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Okay. To the ring.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Help yourself. Yep.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You know, the old trick is if you don't want
- 1:28Speaker 1: to waste a lot of candy, because you know one
- 1:31Speaker 1: or two kids will take all of it. The honor
- 1:33Speaker 1: system rarely works. You can just leave an empty basket
- 1:37Speaker 1: and say, take all you want. They don't know that
- 1:41Speaker 1: nothing was there from the beginning.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Oh, well, I did buy a lot of lot of candy.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And I don't know. I'm not anticipating a lot of
- 1:49Speaker 2: kids this year. So I think you guys are. I'm
- 1:52Speaker 2: going to be- Oh, we get extra? Yeah. Yeah. I'm
- 1:54Speaker 2: going to make sure that you and.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Kristen- What are you giving out? What are you giving out?
- 1:58Speaker 2: I bought the big bag of mixes.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And I like Hershey bars and- You got Mr.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Goodbar? You got Mr. Goodbar in there?
- 2:04Speaker 2: I don't think so, Covey.
- 2:05Speaker 1: You got the Crackle?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 2:06Speaker 1: You got the Red Crackle?
- 2:07Speaker 2: I like the Red- You know what? I didn't do Nestle.
- 2:09Speaker 2: All of that, I think- Wait, is that one?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Well, there's still time to go shopping.
- 2:12Speaker 2: All of mine is Hershey. But I like Nestle, too.
- 2:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:15Speaker 2: But I think this year is Hershey. You got to
- 2:17Speaker 2: take what you get, okay?
- 2:18Speaker 1: And final question- Yeah, believe me. I'll take it. I'll
- 2:21Speaker 1: eat it. I don't care. I'm not picky.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think the crackle's in there.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But are you going to Ann Sarah's party? Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: That's tomorrow night.
- 2:28Speaker 1: That's tomorrow night, not Halloween night. Right.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Friday night. All right. So, and I'm going as a
- 2:33Speaker 2: good witch.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Oh, you picked it?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I just Amazoned it. I just, yeah, this looks good.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I just didn't have a lot of energy. Is Eric
- 2:41Speaker 1: dressing up?
- 2:42Speaker 2: No, Eric's got a gig, of course.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You know what I'm thinking?
- 2:46Speaker 2: What is this working thing that he does?
- 2:48Speaker 1: Does he have to dress up if he's drumming at
- 2:49Speaker 1: a Halloween gig?
- 2:50Speaker 2: You know, sometimes he'll like do a mask or something.
- 2:53Speaker 2: But he's I don't think he is. He's with Junko
- 2:55Speaker 2: Partners right now. They're like a New Orleans style band.
- 2:57Speaker 2: They're a lot of fun, by the way. They're great.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But I don't think he's doing I don't think he's
- 3:03Speaker 2: doing the mask. He said, like, it blocks. He's got
- 3:05Speaker 2: to see and it'll block him.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Oh, he can't see the drums.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Okay, I never thought of that.
- 3:10Speaker 2: How about you?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Well, that's my question, and maybe Kristen can help answer it.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Every time I go Halloween trick-or-treating with the kids, I'm
- 3:15Speaker 1: just in a sweatshirt. But I feel like the kids
- 3:18Speaker 1: are old enough now, they want Mommy and Daddy to
- 3:20Speaker 1: have fun with it, too. And I don't know if
- 3:22Speaker 1: I should dress up, because I could easily whip something
- 3:25Speaker 1: together if I had to, like put a football jersey
- 3:27Speaker 1: on or something like that. I don't have to buy anything,
- 3:29Speaker 1: but do you think I should?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm asking Kristen. When you go trick-or-treating with Bowie and Jagger,
- 3:35Speaker 1: are you going to be dressed up? And what are
- 3:36Speaker 1: you going to be? You don't know yet. Okay, see?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Because it's not that. They're not going to.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Pick us apart too bad.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So I feel like, again, you can throw something on quickly.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But I usually don't. I know Naomi's going to say
- 3:46Speaker 1: something like, why aren't you dressed up? Oh, do it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Because she hinted last year about that.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Coco could do the cute stuff, just like the cat
- 3:51Speaker 2: ears and face paint. Just something a little festive.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Buy a onesie, Kristen said.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Just buy a onesie.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but what are we dressing Cubby as?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Well, yeah, what should I be?
- 4:02Speaker 2: A skeleton.
- 4:06Speaker 1: A skeleton.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Okay, you get a onesie skeleton. Oh, man. Or you
- 4:09Speaker 2: could be Charlie Brown and, you know.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I got a rock.
- 4:12Speaker 2: All I got was a rock, right? So you're a ghost,
- 4:14Speaker 2: but all the holes are in the wrong place. You know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: they're all over. All right, I'll do.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Something to jazz it up for the kids. They'll appreciate that.
- 4:20Speaker 1: All right, Halloween's coming, and we are coming right back
- 4:22Speaker 1: with more variety from the 80s through today and two
- 4:24Speaker 1: pretty cool things.
- 4:26Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Covey and Christine's. Two pretty cool things. Here's a cool thing,
- 4:39Speaker 1: a Halloween fact that sounds made up, but botanically speaking,
- 4:44Speaker 1: a pumpkin is a berry. Scientists classify fruit as... By
- 4:50Speaker 1: how it develops. And pumpkins meet the botanical definition. Even
- 4:54Speaker 1: though they're much bigger and tougher.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Put it next to a cherry.
- 4:59Speaker 1: They're bigger and tougher than they're berries, basically. So this
- 5:03Speaker 1: weekend when you're carving a pumpkin, you're carving a giant berry.
- 5:08Speaker 2: What? Okay. Okay.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I mean, that'd be a very ambitious fruit salad. Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Or I guess it kind of makes sense. You know,
- 5:14Speaker 2: you make pumpkin pie, you're making fruit pie.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Fruit pie.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Hmm. Berry pie.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Confuse people in the next couple of days.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Look at that big berry on your doorstep.
- 5:23Speaker 2: My brain just kind of exploded there. But I'm talking
- 5:25Speaker 2: about pumpkins, too.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Oh, yeah?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:27Speaker 1: It's Battle of the Pumpkin Talk?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Sort of. Did you know pumpkin beer became really popular
- 5:33Speaker 2: in the 1980s, but it was actually early American colonists
- 5:37Speaker 2: who brewed pumpkin ale because they didn't have enough barley.
- 5:41Speaker 2: So pumpkin spice beer is technically older than the United States.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Wow. That's a fun trivia question.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Did those guys make pumpkin spice lattes, I think is
- 5:51Speaker 2: the big question.
- 5:52Speaker 1: We like pumpkin spice everything. And it's all going to
- 5:54Speaker 1: be gone soon. And it'll be replaced with all the
- 5:57Speaker 1: mint stuff, right?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, peppermint, mocha. Yes, that's happening very soon.
- 6:01Speaker 1: All right. Happy Halloween weekend.
- 6:04Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:09Speaker 1: You are not going to like this, Christine.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Excuse me?
- 6:12Speaker 1: You're not going to be happy. I'm telling you. It's
- 6:15Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine. Kristen producing. Kristen just gave
- 6:18Speaker 1: me an article here. It says if you're looking for
- 6:20Speaker 1: a spooky Halloween road trip, forget Salem. Forget New Orleans. What?
- 6:25Speaker 2: What?
- 6:25Speaker 1: You've been there multiple times. You swear that they are
- 6:28Speaker 1: the spookiest towns, and I think they still are.
- 6:30Speaker 2: For, like, a good reason, yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: But a new study says the spookiest city in America
- 6:36Speaker 1: is actually Virginia City, Nevada. The former Wild West mining
- 6:41Speaker 1: town topped the list thanks to its huge number of
- 6:44Speaker 1: haunted attractions, ghostly legends, spiritual shops, and paranormal activity.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Oh.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Coming in right behind that is Tombstone, Arizona. Famous... Did
- 6:55Speaker 1: they really?
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm kidding. Oh, Tombstone.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Sorry. Maybe it does come from there. Come on.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 7:02Speaker 1: No, you're fine. Famous for its Old West history and
- 7:06Speaker 1: Eureka Springs, Arkansas, another hot spot for ghost tours and
- 7:09Speaker 1: haunted mansions. Meanwhile, traditional Halloween favorites like Salem and New
- 7:14Speaker 1: Orleans and Savannah, Georgia, they didn't even crack the top three.
- 7:18Speaker 2: You're kidding.
- 7:19Speaker 1: The study also found that interest in paranormal travel is booming.
- 7:22Speaker 1: with searches for haunted hotels skyrocketing in recent years.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I kind of think I would do a hotel that
- 7:29Speaker 1: was haunted.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Um, okay.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That's about it.
- 7:33Speaker 2: You would do a hotel?
- 7:34Speaker 1: I would do a hotel, because you can get out
- 7:35Speaker 1: of there if you need to.
- 7:37Speaker 2: What about a haunted house?
- 7:39Speaker 1: I like haunted houses.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Like, you like it? No, but I'm saying... Like a
- 7:42Speaker 2: real house that is haunted?
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a... I think they're the ones that pop
- 7:46Speaker 1: up on Halloween.
- 7:46Speaker 2: There's a survey from Clever Real Estate, and they said
- 7:49Speaker 2: over half of Americans... would buy a haunted house. They're like, yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 2: it's okay. I don't mind.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That's a great question for our big audience here.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 1: There has to be somebody out there that has purchased
- 7:58Speaker 1: a home knowing it's maybe haunted or something bad has happened.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And you still bought it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah, give us a text. Yeah. What about you? No.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You wouldn't do it?
- 8:09Speaker 2: No.
- 8:09Speaker 1: What if it's a really nice house?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. They said that- At a really
- 8:12Speaker 2: good price. When they up the ante, right? When they say,
- 8:15Speaker 2: what about if we drop the price? Then even more people, 62%
- 8:19Speaker 2: of people are on board. And then if you lower
- 8:22Speaker 2: the property taxes, bing, bing, bing, even more people are in.
- 8:27Speaker 2: So maybe you're kind of swaying me at that point
- 8:29Speaker 2: because it does– it takes a lot to own a house.
- 8:32Speaker 2: But no, I don't think I would intentionally buy a
- 8:35Speaker 2: haunted house.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You're like a hard no, right? But then you think
- 8:38Speaker 1: about money. If the money drops– You're a hard, yes.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but what if you get in there and then
- 8:42Speaker 2: you're just going to have to move anyway because the
- 8:44Speaker 2: ghosts don't like you?
- 8:45Speaker 1: No. Well, you know what I always think about? I
- 8:47Speaker 1: think about the Amityville Horror House a lot. The one
- 8:49Speaker 1: on Long Island. Not haunted, but we know what happened
- 8:51Speaker 1: there back in the 70s. The movie scared the heck
- 8:54Speaker 1: out of me. And I've driven by that house and
- 8:57Speaker 1: it's a beautiful home.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And I'm still blown away that people live there. And
- 9:02Speaker 1: I wonder what their mind state is.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 1: They bought knowing what happened. And I think multiple people
- 9:08Speaker 1: have lived in there since 1974. And have said it's okay.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And said it's okay.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But that house always gets me. Maybe because it's local, too.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It's not far from here.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And we know about it.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah. If you were going around with a realtor and
- 9:21Speaker 2: they said, oh, somebody died here. This house is said
- 9:23Speaker 2: to be haunted. Would you still buy the house?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Give us a text at 44363. Last thing. Remember that
- 9:29Speaker 1: house that was getting weird notes about?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yes, that was New Jersey too.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That was New Jersey, wasn't it?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Was it Netflix? Somebody did a series on it.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Kristen, do you remember this story? She's looking it up
- 9:43Speaker 1: right now. Every time new people move in, they get
- 9:45Speaker 1: letters from anonymous people.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, like warning, get out of that house.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Get out of the house.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And it was enough to creep people out that they left.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Where is it? Westfield. Westfield. That's right.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Oh, and Westfield's supposed to be really cool for trick-or-treating. Like,
- 9:57Speaker 2: the whole town's supposed to be haunted. The Addams Family house,
- 10:00Speaker 2: like the person who wrote it, that house is located
- 10:03Speaker 2: in Westfield.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Oh, the outside shots?
- 10:06Speaker 2: The person, the Addams Family, the person who wrote it.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Oh.
- 10:12Speaker 2: That's the house, so I guess it's based, yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 3: On it.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Look, we're asking a lot of me when it's not
- 10:21Speaker 2: even 7 in the morning.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Someone's up right now.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I'm just trying to give you cute little tidbits.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Go Google. I love the fun facts. Do you know
- 10:28Speaker 1: that a pumpkin is a berry, technically?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Wait, what?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 2: That sounds familiar.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Light FM.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:39Speaker 1: We're talking about if you would buy a haunted house or...
- 10:42Speaker 1: Would you buy a home where something bad happened? A
- 10:45Speaker 1: lot of people have texted in at 44363.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yes. Most of it has been no way, no thank
- 10:50Speaker 2: you on the haunted house, LOL. But we have from 917,
- 10:54Speaker 2: my grandmother bought a house where someone was shot and
- 10:56Speaker 2: killed upstairs because of gambling and there have been no issues.
- 11:01Speaker 2: 631 says, good morning. There's a show on TV, HGTV.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It's called The Scariest House in America. It's pretty cute.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It's all these people that buy homes knowing... that it's
- 11:10Speaker 2: a paranormal ghost, weird things happening there. It's a really
- 11:13Speaker 2: good show. Watch it. I do watch it.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So thank you. I've seen that on my guide, Scariest House.
- 11:18Speaker 2: It's a fun one.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I never watched it. I thought it was just a
- 11:20Speaker 1: really bad home.
- 11:22Speaker 2: No, no.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Like a big fixer-upper.
- 11:24Speaker 2: No, it's got a history, and the house is usually
- 11:27Speaker 2: a very weird design. And a great host. She's a comedian,
- 11:31Speaker 2: which is not coming to me at the moment. But
- 11:34Speaker 2: it's a fun show. Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And now what about... We've got to mop up this
- 11:37Speaker 1: Addams Family mess.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Because we're not sure... Because I think, first of all,
- 11:41Speaker 1: you're more right than I am. But Westfield, New Jersey.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:47Speaker 1: There's a home associated with the Adams family.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Charles Adams. Thank you, 201. Charles Adams grew up in
- 11:53Speaker 2: Westfield on Elm Street. That's where they got the street
- 11:57Speaker 2: name for Nightmare on Elm Street. And the inspiration for
- 12:02Speaker 2: the television show house is Westfield Street. New Jersey on
- 12:07Speaker 2: Elm Street, and it's got a historical landmark next to it.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So you can actually go see the house.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And this is one of your favorite theme songs of
- 12:14Speaker 1: all time, as is mine. They're creepy and they're kooky.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Sing it. Mysterious and spooky. They're all together kooky. The
- 12:39Speaker 1: Addams Family. Now, what else about this house is fun?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Well, it was the inspiration for the TV series. And
- 12:45Speaker 2: Charles Adams didn't write a traditional novel or script. He
- 12:48Speaker 2: created a single panel macabre comic strip that started back
- 12:52Speaker 2: in August 6th of 1938.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Oh, it was a comic strip before a TV show.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So then TV producer David Levy wanted to adapt it
- 13:00Speaker 2: into a TV series in 1964. Charles Adams came on
- 13:04Speaker 2: board to name the characters. So the Adams family, Charles Adams,
- 13:08Speaker 2: he helped name Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Lurch,
- 13:11Speaker 2: and Grandmama.
- 13:13Speaker 1: What was it about the 60s and these TV show
- 13:15Speaker 1: sitcoms that were kind of like had creepy people in it? Like,
- 13:18Speaker 1: so you had Adam's family and then the Munsters was
- 13:21Speaker 1: around the same time.
- 13:21Speaker 2: You know how it is now. Like one thing takes
- 13:23Speaker 2: off and then.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Other people try to replicate it a little bit.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Inspires.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Interesting. All right. Thank you so much. What do you
- 13:31Speaker 1: have coming up in the news, Christine?
- 13:32Speaker 2: We're going to check out the headlines. Oh, you're going
- 13:34Speaker 2: to love this, Cubby. The biggest mistake that husbands make.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I do them all. We'll find out next at Light FM.
- 13:40Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Good morning, Covey. So an investigation underway today following a
- 13:49Speaker 2: deadly shooting. A New Jersey State police officer shot and
- 13:53Speaker 2: killed a man yesterday evening in Moonock. He was shot
- 13:56Speaker 2: in the neck and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And we still are unclear as to all the details
- 14:04Speaker 2: as to why and who's involved. President Trump heading to
- 14:07Speaker 2: South Carolina today. Again, we're rallying, getting into the midterm elections.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Former President Obama is on the campaign trail in Georgia.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The Milwaukee Brewers have done it. They defeated the Tampa
- 14:19Speaker 2: Bay Rays 4-1, and they are the World Series champs.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It's the Brewers' first World Series in the title in
- 14:27Speaker 2: their franchise history.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Now only four teams have never won the World Series.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Name them all, Christine.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm not going to do it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'll tell you right now.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Tampa Bay, though, right?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's won. Colorado Rockies have never won it. San
- 14:39Speaker 1: Diego Padres have never won it. Seattle Mariners have never
- 14:42Speaker 1: won it.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Some have been there, but those four are the remaining
- 14:47Speaker 1: ones that have never won a World Series.
- 14:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Sorry to jump in there.
- 14:51Speaker 2: That's okay. Just a friendly reminder here, flu season got
- 14:54Speaker 2: started really early this year. CDC says flu hospitalizations have
- 14:58Speaker 2: reached the highest level for the first time of the
- 15:01Speaker 2: year in 16 years. Like we haven't seen levels this
- 15:05Speaker 2: early in 16 years. So once again, it seems to
- 15:09Speaker 2: be across the country. Back to sports basketball. The Knicks
- 15:13Speaker 2: beat the Bulls 133-127. Devils lost to the Avalanche 5-2.
- 15:18Speaker 2: The Panthers played the Packers 8-15 tonight. And Cubby, this
- 15:23Speaker 2: is according to studies, the biggest common mistake husbands make
- 15:29Speaker 2: when your wife asks you a question, never choosing anything
- 15:33Speaker 2: and just saying, whatever you want, honey.
- 15:35Speaker 1: But that is the best answer.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Nope.
- 15:37Speaker 2: A lot of men think they're being good husbands by
- 15:39Speaker 2: letting the wife rule everything from dinner to the bills,
- 15:42Speaker 2: but carrying all the choices will tire her out, making
- 15:45Speaker 2: her feel like she has a kid instead of a partner.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I am reading word for word.
- 15:50Speaker 1: All I know is Kristen right now is nodding yes.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Is nodding her head. Like, amen, sister.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yep.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yes, so speak for all of us, Kristen.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Thank you for the tip, Christine. I appreciate that.
- 16:01Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, and Kristen, can we high five each other
- 16:08Speaker 1: live on the air? Just high five. High five right now.
- 16:11Speaker 1: High five. Here's why I'm high fiving you guys.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Okay, why?
- 16:13Speaker 1: Because we lived to tell about this story here. We
- 16:17Speaker 1: lived through this and we are alive today.
- 16:20Speaker 2: That we survived some of the most dangerous toys in
- 16:23Speaker 2: the history of mankind?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Correct.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Reddit has a discussion, and we've been discussing this off
- 16:28Speaker 1: the air. Let's bring it on the air.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It was survival of the fittest, basically. Vintage toys that
- 16:33Speaker 2: we loved, but what were we thinking?
- 16:37Speaker 1: It's amazing we made it. You've got tons of options here.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And add to the list if you think we're missing
- 16:42Speaker 1: something at 44363. But, Christine, can you relate to lawn darts?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yes, very much so. Lawn darts. We actually had a
- 16:50Speaker 2: dart board in the basement.
- 16:53Speaker 1: So did we.
- 16:53Speaker 2: You did too.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And I'd go down there and play with friends with
- 16:57Speaker 1: no supervision.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I played with way older brothers. I was like
- 17:01Speaker 2: the little kid. No. I feel like today parents would
- 17:05Speaker 2: be like, no, you're not taking your little sister down
- 17:08Speaker 2: in front of the dart board.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Nothing ever happened, right?
- 17:10Speaker 2: I'm here.
- 17:11Speaker 1: And then they finally came up with the whole Velcro
- 17:14Speaker 1: dart boards. Oh, yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Those were little balls, right?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Little balls.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Yep.
- 17:18Speaker 1: They would stick.
- 17:19Speaker 2: That was a better idea. How about producer Kristen said
- 17:22Speaker 2: this was big for her. Skip it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: So Naomi, my daughter, we have one of these and
- 17:27Speaker 1: she enjoys it. And the way you described it, Kristen,
- 17:30Speaker 1: off the air is what I see Naomi do every weekend.
- 17:33Speaker 1: You put this little circle around your ankle.
- 17:35Speaker 2: One ankle.
- 17:36Speaker 1: And you spin your ankle and the thing, the big
- 17:39Speaker 1: like ball at the end. Yeah. the weight of it
- 17:41Speaker 1: will spin around and you just jump over that. Right. Well,
- 17:44Speaker 1: it'll hit you in the shin a lot.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Your timing is off.
- 17:47Speaker 1: So you're having fun, but then every five seconds, ow!
- 17:50Speaker 2: And it still hurts her? Like, they still haven't changed it?
- 17:52Speaker 1: It's lighter. I think it's lighter compared to what it
- 17:55Speaker 1: was a few years ago. It's not as heavy, but
- 17:57Speaker 1: I see Naomi go, you know, getting frustrated with it.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Did you guys have click clacks?
- 18:02Speaker 1: You know, I've heard of click clacks. I don't remember
- 18:03Speaker 1: click clacks.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't think we had them. But it would leave
- 18:06Speaker 2: you with a black eye if you weren't careful. Rollerblade Barbie.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Her rollerblades could actually create sparks.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I didn't have that. I did roller skates, which I
- 18:16Speaker 1: would fall down all the time.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Without any padding on or anything.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Oh, no. That's not. That's never good.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I saw vintage chemistry sets on here. Mm-hmm. And these
- 18:25Speaker 1: were great.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness.
- 18:26Speaker 1: They were great ideas, right? Educational, blah, blah, blah. But
- 18:29Speaker 1: some of them contained mercury, radium, even uranium. Uranium.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You're like back to the future.
- 18:37Speaker 2: That was crazy. Cubby, this is one that you did
- 18:39Speaker 2: not quite survive.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Which one?
- 18:41Speaker 2: BB guns.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 18:43Speaker 2: You'll shoot your eye out. You still have one.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I've told this story a million times. I won't tell
- 18:47Speaker 1: it again, but synopsis, a friend of mine by accident
- 18:50Speaker 1: shot me with a BB gun when I was 14
- 18:52Speaker 1: years old.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's still in your face.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's still in my face today. It's gone from where
- 18:58Speaker 1: my nose is. It's fallen over the years, and it's
- 19:01Speaker 1: right above my teeth. And every time I go to
- 19:04Speaker 1: a dentist, I've had the same dentist for a while,
- 19:07Speaker 1: but when I used to go to a different dentist,
- 19:09Speaker 1: they would take the x-rays and they'd always go, what
- 19:11Speaker 1: is this? It's a big white dot above my teeth.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Oh, that's nuts. Slap bracelets, yes. Early metal versions could
- 19:19Speaker 2: really mess you up. Why?
- 19:20Speaker 1: But Christine, I don't think they hurt that much. I'm
- 19:22Speaker 1: surprised this is on the list. Slap bracelets, do they
- 19:25Speaker 1: hurt really when you slap them on?
- 19:27Speaker 2: The metal ones, when they first came out. Oh, you're
- 19:30Speaker 2: tougher than me.
- 19:31Speaker 1: To me, they just wrapped around you. No.
- 19:33Speaker 2: No, they're slapped for a reason.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Boom.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You had to, you know, there had to be some force.
- 19:37Speaker 1: All right, all right.
- 19:38Speaker 2: How about the Easy Bake Oven?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Another one that I disagree with. It was a light bulb.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I know people think oven, heat, kid, hot, all that.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That light bulb heated up. like all right like it
- 19:50Speaker 2: was mighty strong yes you could it.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Took you four hours to make a cupcake.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Or one little cookie yep the pogo sticks i we
- 19:58Speaker 2: didn't have stuff like that.
- 19:59Speaker 1: We had a pogo stick and if you if you're
- 20:02Speaker 1: bouncing straight up and you're good oh it's fun but
- 20:05Speaker 1: then you divert a little bit to the left or
- 20:06Speaker 1: right and like well Yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Mom's taking us to the emergency room.
- 20:10Speaker 1: We would always do it on cement.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Oh.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That was near grass, though.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So if you felt like you were tipping one way
- 20:16Speaker 1: or the other, you'd go towards the lawn.
- 20:19Speaker 2: How about they still do slip and slide?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, they do. And I got to tell you,
- 20:24Speaker 1: that's a good point.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I used to get hurt on that because it looks like, oh,
- 20:27Speaker 2: this is fun. Just let's go.
- 20:29Speaker 1: You could break an arm.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, a tree root is underneath you or something. Yeah.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Right into the groin.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 1: All right, if you feel like we're missing something, please
- 20:38Speaker 1: text us at 44363. Some old vintage toys that you're
- 20:44Speaker 1: amazed we survived.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Just heard from Bronx girl Brenda. We love you. And
- 20:47Speaker 2: she said, I survived Click Clacks. Love you guys.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Click Clacks. I've got to look those up. Was that
- 20:52Speaker 1: more of a.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I kind of remember it, but maybe from commercials.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But it wasn't like a girl thing. Boys and girls.
- 20:59Speaker 2: It was more of a... Bronx girl Brenda played with it.
- 21:03Speaker 2: All right. Shout out to Brenda.
- 21:04Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 21:10Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 21:11Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Thursday, Thursday, Cubby and Christine in a trivia battle, ready
- 21:18Speaker 1: to rock here. And you know what? We're going to
- 21:20Speaker 1: do all Halloween questions today, Christine.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Okay. Yes, it'll be fun.
- 21:23Speaker 1: All Halloween theme today. We got Susan from Staten Island
- 21:26Speaker 1: on Team Cubby. Hey, good morning, Susan. Remind us what
- 21:29Speaker 1: you do for a living. I know you've played before.
- 21:31Speaker 1: What do you do for a living? Yes, I do.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I do administrative work for an insurance company. Administrative work
- 21:37Speaker 1: for an insurance company, heading to work and about to
- 21:39Speaker 1: win Trivia Battle because she's on Team Cubby. I feel it.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:42Speaker 1: All right. Who's Susan's competition?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Lauren, good morning. How are you?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Good morning. I'm doing well.
- 21:48Speaker 2: How are you?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Good.
- 21:49Speaker 2: And so remind us what you do, please.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I am a teacher. Okay.
- 21:53Speaker 2: We're ready to go, Cubby.
- 21:55Speaker 1: All right. So teacher versus insurance person. And the best
- 21:59Speaker 1: out of three will win. You get three questions each. Susan,
- 22:03Speaker 1: all Halloween theme. Keep this in mind, ladies. Question number
- 22:06Speaker 1: one for you, Susan. Which country is most often credited
- 22:09Speaker 1: as the birthplace of Halloween traditions? A, Ireland, B, Mexico,
- 22:15Speaker 1: or C, United States? I would say Ireland. You're going
- 22:20Speaker 1: to say Ireland? And we're going to give you a ding.
- 22:23Speaker 1: You're right, Susan, 1-0.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Okay, Lauren, which city calls itself the Halloween capital of
- 22:28Speaker 2: the world? Is it A, St. Helens, Oregon, B, Anoka, Minnesota, C, Salem, Massachusetts? C? C? Salem? Yeah, Salem.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Cubby said no. Sorry. No, it's actually B, Anoka, Minnesota.
- 22:45Speaker 1: All right, Susan can take a 2-0 lead if you
- 22:48Speaker 1: get this right.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Susan? Susan?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Which candy regularly tops U.S. bestseller list at Halloween, during Halloween?
- 22:54Speaker 1: What candy is usually the bestseller? A, M & M' s, B, Reese's,
- 22:58Speaker 1: or C, Candy Corn? Candy Corn is really like a
- 23:04Speaker 1: Halloween candy. I'm going to go with the Candy Corn.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Candy Corn actually is usually at the bottom, unfortunately. Reese's
- 23:14Speaker 1: is the most sold Halloween candy. All right, so still 1-0, Susan.
- 23:19Speaker 2: All right, Lauren, in what state was the candy apple invented?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Is it A, Texas, B, Washington, C, New Jersey?
- 23:26Speaker 1: I know New Jersey has a lot of apples, but
- 23:33Speaker 1: I don't know why Washington is standing out.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I'll go with Washington. I know. I'm sorry. First answer.
- 23:41Speaker 1: You should have gone with your gut on that one.
- 23:42Speaker 2: New Jersey, New Jersey. I knew it. Yeah, you were
- 23:45Speaker 2: getting there. I'm sorry.
- 23:47Speaker 1: All right, Susan with a 1-0 lead. So, Susan, you
- 23:50Speaker 1: can win it with this question, or Lauren can tie
- 23:52Speaker 1: it up if you miss it. Susan, the Headless Horseman
- 23:56Speaker 1: was the ghost of a soldier decapitated in the Revolutionary War.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Where does the legend take place? A, Salem, Massachusetts. B, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Or C, Sleepy Hollow, New York?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Sleepy Hollow.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Sleepy Hollow for the win, and.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Susan takes it. Yes, Susan, you win. Lauren, I'm so sorry.
- 24:17Speaker 2: You know you can always call us again, right?
- 24:19Speaker 1: That's okay.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Congratulations, Susan.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you, and have a great day.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Happy Halloween, everybody.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yes, and Susan, congrats. You've got tickets to see the
- 24:30Speaker 2: Jonas Brothers, UBS Arena, December 19th.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Very good.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I'm excited. Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 24:38Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen producing our show, and we'll have
- 24:44Speaker 1: our survivor pool picks coming up tomorrow. Sometimes we do
- 24:48Speaker 1: them on Thursdays, but we're not picking a game today.
- 24:51Speaker 2: We're not picking tonight's football game, so we're good.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah. So we'll go through it tomorrow. And there's some
- 24:55Speaker 1: rule changes yet again with our survivor poll.
- 24:57Speaker 2: So we can keep playing. Yes.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Tomorrow morning this time we'll do that. But are you
- 25:01Speaker 1: sure you want to do this particular topic? Because this
- 25:04Speaker 1: is going to be awful.
- 25:06Speaker 2: It's going to be tricky because I love the list.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Google has given us the list of the most mispronounced
- 25:13Speaker 2: words in the U.S. So these are the most Google
- 25:16Speaker 2: searched words because we don't know how to say it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: The problem is Cubby and I don't know how to
- 25:19Speaker 2: say it. So we want to share the most mispronounced words.
- 25:23Speaker 1: This is going to be a debacle.
- 25:24Speaker 2: But we can't say them.
- 25:25Speaker 1: But we can't say them. Or we think we know
- 25:27Speaker 1: we're saying them right. Well, the first one is probably
- 25:30Speaker 1: the hardest to say. And do you want to do
- 25:33Speaker 1: it or do you want me to do it? Where
- 25:35Speaker 1: do you want to go with this?
- 25:36Speaker 3: Go.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Go try.
- 25:38Speaker 1: What's that stuff, that sauce you put on steaks?
- 25:40Speaker 2: You're not saying it. You're trying to get me to
- 25:43Speaker 2: say it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Worcestershire.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Worcestershire.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Worcestershire sauce?
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you did it.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Am I right?
- 25:49Speaker 2: Kristen was very impressed.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Kristen gave me a nod, yes. Worcestershire.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Worcestershire. Worcestershire is the number one most pronounced word in
- 25:57Speaker 2: the U.S., according to the Google searches.
- 25:59Speaker 1: All right, what's number two? You say that one.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I say gyro, but I am wrong. It's euro.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I've always said gyro, too.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're going to still say it, probably.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Okay, what's that really cute dog?
- 26:14Speaker 2: A hot dog.
- 26:16Speaker 1: No.
- 26:17Speaker 2: A dachshund. It's a dachshund.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I thought it was a dashund. It looks like you're.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Saying a dashhund.
- 26:23Speaker 1: A dashhund.
- 26:24Speaker 2: But yeah, dachshund.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Dachshund.
- 26:25Speaker 2: It's a dachshund.
- 26:26Speaker 1: All right, number four.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Most mispronounced words. What's number four? You say it.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Oh, you keep making me say it. Niche.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'll do the next one. Oh, all right.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I just got in there. Niche? Niche.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I don't feel like, do you mess that word up?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Well, I think it's because of the way it's written.
- 26:40Speaker 2: So it looks like you could say like niche or something.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It's spelled N-I-C-H-E. Yeah, but it's niche. But it's niche.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Niche.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Porsche.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Is number five. A lot of people just say Porsche.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's incorrect.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Because we would do a silent E. And it's not uh.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It's not Porsche. It's like Porsche.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Porsche.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's the. Yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 1: It's more UH than AH.
- 27:04Speaker 2: German pronunciation.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Porsche.
- 27:06Speaker 2: And then this one. The next one.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Number six.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Qatar. Qatar.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I'm going to Qatar.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I think I say it like that. And then I'll
- 27:16Speaker 2: hear people say Qatar. I know. And that sounds weird
- 27:19Speaker 2: to me.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I feel like I've heard that on the news.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I think they say cutter on the news a lot.
