- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back into a topic today that's going to be
- 0:02Speaker 1: breaking down some of the biggest projects out there. One
- 0:05Speaker 1: of them that we have looked at before has been Velo.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Now Vilo we've had on the show a couple of times.
- 0:12Speaker 1: In fact, we had them on with Solana. We also
- 0:14Speaker 1: had them on with Stellar. This was all brought in
- 0:17Speaker 1: part through Beams partnership. That was about July of this
- 0:22Speaker 1: year and we wanted to kind of revisit where Velo
- 0:25Speaker 1: is today, so we thought, hey, let's bring in one
- 0:27Speaker 1: of their key executives. So we'll have Pat joining us
- 0:31Speaker 1: from Velo here in a second. He is, of course,
- 0:33Speaker 1: the chief operating officer of Vlo Labs. And when you
- 0:36Speaker 1: think about where Velo is heading, there is a lot
- 0:39Speaker 1: of news to break down. This could be one that
- 0:42Speaker 1: will really break down I think some potential opportunities of
- 0:45Speaker 1: how crypto and the broader financial market is starting to go.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Let's get into a couple of points. First of all,
- 0:51Speaker 1: welcome to the show. Thanks for coming in today. We
- 0:53Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Hi, thank you for having us again.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So a couple of points I wanted to hit on
- 0:58Speaker 1: since the last time we had you guys on a
- 1:01Speaker 1: lot has changed obviously, both that with you guys and
- 1:05Speaker 1: the market for people who don't necessarily know who Velo is.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And I know a lot of people have mentioned this
- 1:11Speaker 1: in our comments before, but give us kind of a
- 1:13Speaker 1: high level of what you guys are doing and solving today.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So in general, our focus has always been on building
- 1:22Speaker 3: the next generation financial infrastructure utilizing blushing technology. What we've
- 1:28Speaker 3: sorted come down to what we've been focusing within the
- 1:32Speaker 3: past year and going forward is what we call the
- 1:34Speaker 3: PAIFI infrastructure. So that means financial rails that move real money,
- 1:38Speaker 3: not just tokens across different borders, currencies and digital assets platforms.
- 1:44Speaker 3: So I think a lot of other innovations we've seen
- 1:46Speaker 3: have focused on the speculations of crypto markets, the isolated
- 1:51Speaker 3: financial products.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Our focus is slightly different.
- 1:54Speaker 3: It's been on the settlement, liquidity, and payments layer of
- 1:58Speaker 3: the financial system. This is not something that will replace
- 2:03Speaker 3: traditional layers, but would be an addition and alternative to
- 2:08Speaker 3: the traditional infrastructure that we have in the system that
- 2:12Speaker 3: will try to plug in the deficiency that we see.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I see, well, okay, so there is a lot going
- 2:19Speaker 1: on in that space, mainly here in the US. We've
- 2:22Speaker 1: seen a lot of regulation that has been approved obviously
- 2:25Speaker 1: with the Genius Act. Things happening now with market clarity
- 2:28Speaker 1: that could start to shift around, especially the settlement and
- 2:31Speaker 1: liquidity layers for a lot of major companies. You have
- 2:34Speaker 1: banks rolling into this, which are the traditional financial systems
- 2:38Speaker 1: that obviously make a huge impact going forward. When you
- 2:42Speaker 1: look at the financial system today's banks, FinTechs, payment apps,
- 2:47Speaker 1: FX providers, they're kind of all stacked on top of
- 2:50Speaker 1: each other. Where do you guys sit in here? How
- 2:53Speaker 1: do you play into this?
- 2:55Speaker 3: So, just as I mentioned, we look at ourselves in
- 2:58Speaker 3: the settlement and liquidity, I see a lot of the
- 3:02Speaker 3: big players, traditional fundamental players coming in as a good thing.
- 3:06Speaker 2: That means there's a real value.
- 3:08Speaker 3: That the technology the crypto market itself can provide in
- 3:12Speaker 3: terms of solving real world problems. So it's great that
- 3:16Speaker 3: we see more players coming into this scene, especially banks
- 3:20Speaker 3: or FinTechs. We're not trying to replace, you know, any
- 3:24Speaker 3: of these players or any consumer apps. We're trying to
- 3:27Speaker 3: connect them together and provide value where there is scaped
- 3:30Speaker 3: within the market. So for all these financial institutions, fintech,
- 3:34Speaker 3: different platforms can use us as a bridge to move
- 3:37Speaker 3: value across different currencies and digital assets in different corridors
- 3:43Speaker 3: that the traditional infrastructure may.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Be lacking in terms of support.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So that's why we spend so much, you know, emphasis
- 3:50Speaker 3: on the infrastructure, the compliance integration, rather than just the
- 3:55Speaker 3: surface level direct to consumer facing part because I feel
- 3:59Speaker 3: like that one is built out, So we're trying to
- 4:01Speaker 3: be the bridge that sort.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Of brings everything together.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so a couple of things we're gonna
- 4:09Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about the World Liberty Finance Partnership and
- 4:14Speaker 1: what that looks like. But before we go there, the
- 4:17Speaker 1: last time we talked this was a roundtable that we
- 4:19Speaker 1: had with Solona, so we had Lily Leuan, one of
- 4:22Speaker 1: the founders of Stellar. Obviously, in your more recent appearance
- 4:27Speaker 1: that you guys had, it was kind of built around
- 4:29Speaker 1: tokenized gold. So there's been a lot of exploration around
- 4:34Speaker 1: many of these assets, including you know, precious metals now
- 4:38Speaker 1: being tokenized. We haven't seen tokenized silver yet, and silver
- 4:41Speaker 1: market is absolutely exploding. But a lot of teams are
- 4:45Speaker 1: talking about future use cases, pilots, you know, different kinds
- 4:48Speaker 1: of proof of concepts. From your vantage point right now,
- 4:52Speaker 1: are you guys first of all, what has actually changed
- 4:55Speaker 1: since then when we had that last conversation, that has
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of shifted the market for VLO.
- 5:02Speaker 3: So we were last time we were here, we're looking
- 5:04Speaker 3: at tognizing gold as a way to, as I said,
- 5:07Speaker 3: move different values from one system to another. What has changed,
- 5:11Speaker 3: especially in terms of the overall market, is that the
- 5:15Speaker 3: cover stine has shifted from.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Candice really work to this is already working.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So from our side, we've moved deeper into production and infrastructure.
- 5:23Speaker 3: We've had real transaction volume, real institutional integration, so more
- 5:28Speaker 3: real use cases. They are using what we've been building.
- 5:31Speaker 3: More broadly, we're seeing other different types of assets, stable
- 5:35Speaker 3: cointsganized assets, digital settlements moved from just being an experiment
- 5:41Speaker 3: to a wider, a.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Bigger scale, especially in Asia.
- 5:45Speaker 3: So this ship is fundamental in changing how infrastructure like
- 5:49Speaker 3: ours is being perceived and used.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Interesting. So this is a really kind of a dynamic shift.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I think when you consider where the market is right now.
- 6:01Speaker 1: First of all, crossboarder payments, what we'll see in settlement
- 6:05Speaker 1: layers with international banks, maybe even nation states that are
- 6:10Speaker 1: going to be growing. One thing that stands out to
- 6:13Speaker 1: me is that you guys VLO. You guys are showing
- 6:17Speaker 1: up kind of on the execution rather than doing announcements,
- 6:20Speaker 1: which to me, that's a big step for crypto because
- 6:24Speaker 1: most of the time, as you know, we see a
- 6:26Speaker 1: lot of people talking about stuff, but not many people
- 6:28Speaker 1: doing stuff. So what are some of the recent developments
- 6:32Speaker 1: that we should pay attention to.
- 6:34Speaker 3: So you know, we've have had a long time developing
- 6:37Speaker 3: the different partners the different infrastructure, so now we're actually
- 6:41Speaker 3: at the executing at the institutional scale. Okay, we have
- 6:45Speaker 3: live heay fin infra structure, we have active enterprise and
- 6:49Speaker 3: active ecosystem partnerships, regulated digital asset products and real world
- 6:53Speaker 3: uses across different parts of Asia. So this isn't about
- 6:58Speaker 3: just a single partnership different products, even though we've had
- 7:02Speaker 3: multiple announcements. It's about how we're forming an ecosystem with
- 7:07Speaker 3: different partners that can come in and have different provide
- 7:11Speaker 3: different values within the ecosystem. So having multiple components that
- 7:15Speaker 3: reinforces each other to grow together.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I like the fact that you guys are getting more
- 7:24Speaker 1: I guess in a way covering so many different sectors
- 7:27Speaker 1: of the market for PAYFI, because that's one of the
- 7:31Speaker 1: things you either have people or projects that are very
- 7:34Speaker 1: isolated into certain countries, you know, versus what you guys Obviously,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I know you're far focusing mostly on the Asian market,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but and I want to talk about that. But when
- 7:43Speaker 1: you look at the biggest developments really since we last spoke,
- 7:48Speaker 1: the World Liberty Finance thing is now live? Is that right?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Is it up and outing? Okay, so we're hearing about
- 7:54Speaker 1: these partnerships all the time, but a lot of them
- 7:57Speaker 1: I have kind of not necessarily gone anywhere. Now that
- 8:00Speaker 1: you guys are integrated with WLFI, which is the you know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: the token integration, which is operational, does this actually change
- 8:09Speaker 1: what changes for Velo's ecosystem now with this integration.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So one of the key points is the integration of
- 8:17Speaker 3: USD one, which is a regulated stable coin issue by
- 8:21Speaker 3: Bidgo Trust Company, into our settlement and liquidity layers. So
- 8:25Speaker 3: from a system professor perspective, you know, having a regulated
- 8:29Speaker 3: stable coin allows for more touch point with in terms
- 8:32Speaker 3: of compliance and legal so more institutional can use this
- 8:36Speaker 3: stable coin to move different assets, so it unlocks different
- 8:39Speaker 3: parts of interms of compliance or regulations, and this enables
- 8:44Speaker 3: us to be able to offer to more more institutional
- 8:49Speaker 3: users to be able to use our platform.
- 8:52Speaker 2: So this trends are stable point equidity.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Supports intuitional grade settlement and allows the USD one addition
- 9:00Speaker 3: to be used across our different ecosystem, especially in the
- 9:04Speaker 3: loyalty programs and super app environment.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I like it. I like it well, super app environment's
- 9:09Speaker 1: going to become a I think a huge thing. That
- 9:11Speaker 1: may be the category that people will start to recognize
- 9:16Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six is the use case for super apps.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And if you guys haven't listened in and understood what
- 9:22Speaker 1: we're talking about, we've done a couple of videos on
- 9:23Speaker 1: super apps and what they mean for the crypto ecosystem,
- 9:26Speaker 1: So check that out in the channel pat Also, another
- 9:30Speaker 1: name that keeps coming up is CP Group. This is
- 9:33Speaker 1: around kind of centered around World Liberty Financial. But are
- 9:38Speaker 1: they connected? How do these two companies or these two
- 9:43Speaker 1: industry titans kind of connect you guys.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I love people highlight the CP Group names because there's
- 9:48Speaker 3: a large conglomerate company with a huge presidence in Southeast Asia.
- 9:53Speaker 3: We're fortunate enough to have such partners to help us
- 9:57Speaker 3: scale our network into different parts of a into different
- 10:00Speaker 3: use cases. World Liberty Finance comes from a I guess, uh,
- 10:05Speaker 3: the USD one infrastructure to help us pluck in in
- 10:09Speaker 3: terms of that uh, the stable point liquidity being compliant.
- 10:15Speaker 3: But beyond just these two names, we have other you know,
- 10:18Speaker 3: partners of Solana we mentioned last time to.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Help in different parts within our ecosystem.
- 10:25Speaker 3: So these strategic supports help us able to scale our
- 10:28Speaker 3: product across and build new infrastructure in terms of the
- 10:32Speaker 3: pay in the payfi ecosystem, and provide more use cases
- 10:38Speaker 3: and different features that you know, for example in payments
- 10:42Speaker 3: and FX and digital assets UH to be used within
- 10:46Speaker 3: the super app that as you mentioned.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Before, this market could become huge if you look at
- 10:52Speaker 1: the scale, not only within Asia. You guys have mentioned
- 10:57Speaker 1: Asia several times. Why focus only or heavily I should
- 11:01Speaker 1: say on Asia rather than say starting in the Western markets.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I think Asia.
- 11:07Speaker 3: You know, it's it's a very large market, and within
- 11:10Speaker 3: the large market there are different developments scale that you see.
- 11:14Speaker 3: But in general, I think digital wallets here are a
- 11:17Speaker 3: bit more mainstream. People don't in a lot of different
- 11:21Speaker 3: markets that we are in, people don't really have credit cards,
- 11:24Speaker 3: so they rely on payments through their mobile different digital
- 11:27Speaker 3: wallet apps, So that behavior makes it easier for people
- 11:31Speaker 3: to adopt a new digital wallet, infrastructure or even just
- 11:36Speaker 3: plugging our infrastructure to what they've been using on their
- 11:39Speaker 3: day to day. So from an infrastructure standpoint, it's a
- 11:43Speaker 3: more demanding environment because there's a lot larger population, it's
- 11:48Speaker 3: a bit fragmented into different countries. But if it works
- 11:51Speaker 3: at scale, it's a very large market and it means
- 11:54Speaker 3: we can scale it to other regions as well, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 3: whether that be in Africa or Latin America or even
- 11:59Speaker 3: in Western countries. So our approach is Asia first, provide utility,
- 12:04Speaker 3: provide value, and then scale it out once we've proved
- 12:08Speaker 3: our product well.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I think the key there is you're going to look
- 12:13Speaker 1: at adoption, you know, which will be one of the
- 12:16Speaker 1: key cornerstones of how other areas or regions will start
- 12:21Speaker 1: to look at use cases that are successful.
- 12:23Speaker 2: So if you guys.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Roll out with a adoption level use case, because that's
- 12:28Speaker 1: the thing right now, we're seeing adoption on stable coins
- 12:32Speaker 1: at a very high scale, kind of the point you're
- 12:34Speaker 1: getting at with what we're liberty Fi is doing, and
- 12:37Speaker 1: I think that's going to kind of lead into a
- 12:40Speaker 1: lot of other sectors in the market that are going
- 12:43Speaker 1: to explode due to this adoption. Looking ahead right now,
- 12:47Speaker 1: what should people be watching for over the next you know,
- 12:49Speaker 1: two to three six months for you guys, what are
- 12:51Speaker 1: you guys building?
- 12:52Speaker 3: So for us, as we're deepening our you know, World
- 12:55Speaker 3: Liberty Finance, USD one infrastruction into our payments hi FI workflows,
- 13:02Speaker 3: we're moving beyond just being the connector liquidity. We're trying
- 13:05Speaker 3: to connect more to consumer facing super apps and loyalty distributions,
- 13:09Speaker 3: so bringing more of our institutional settlements to more use
- 13:14Speaker 3: cases of more I wouldn't say consumer right straight away,
- 13:18Speaker 3: but a bigger scale, a larger transaction volume. So this
- 13:24Speaker 3: is typical phase where we can scale our infrastructure to
- 13:27Speaker 3: account for more transaction.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Volumes that we might be seeing for this year. We're
- 13:33Speaker 2: also looking.
- 13:34Speaker 3: You know, it's a buzzword, but we're also looking in
- 13:37Speaker 3: terms of how to integrate AI into providing more efficiency,
- 13:41Speaker 3: especially within choosing different rails for different effects rates, different
- 13:48Speaker 3: settlements between different assets. So in terms of pricing, that's
- 13:52Speaker 3: the efficiency we may use AI to help us navigate.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So okay, so what you're describing you think about this
- 14:01Speaker 1: both on infrastructure level use case. Now you've got institutional partners.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You know, this is a traditional story that usually comes
- 14:11Speaker 1: kind of after things have been adopted. We've seen and
- 14:14Speaker 1: we've seen this, you know, Circle of course is a
- 14:16Speaker 1: good example here in the United States obviously the proliferation
- 14:20Speaker 1: of what they've done with USDC, but there's also other
- 14:24Speaker 1: you know, companies that have really started to ramp up,
- 14:27Speaker 1: especially whether you look at Europe, but you guys obviously
- 14:31Speaker 1: kind of leading the way in Asia. This is usually
- 14:33Speaker 1: done after it's already adopted. What do you think is
- 14:36Speaker 1: the broad Why do you think the broader market hasn't
- 14:38Speaker 1: fully caught up to what's being built yet, because this
- 14:41Speaker 1: seems very very bullish.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think infrastructure it takes a while obviously,
- 14:47Speaker 3: you know, it's not just developing as navigating, you know,
- 14:51Speaker 3: building the settlement layer, compliance frameworks and integrated to whatever
- 14:56Speaker 3: exists in a real world already. So these doesn't really
- 14:59Speaker 3: have and overnight. It takes times and efforts and different
- 15:02Speaker 3: talks and time to go through different you know in
- 15:06Speaker 3: terms of compliance, different getting regulations being ready, getting different licenses,
- 15:12Speaker 3: so it takes time for it to mature. But now
- 15:15Speaker 3: I think in terms of the market situation, we're seeing
- 15:18Speaker 3: differuation of all the efforts and different the change in
- 15:22Speaker 3: the regulations sentiment that's been coming. So I think it's
- 15:25Speaker 3: a really good time to see, you know that we
- 15:28Speaker 3: could see, you know, adoption happens really quickly within the
- 15:31Speaker 3: next year or two, hopefully sooner than that as well.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think this is the thing that is
- 15:36Speaker 1: the hidden treasure for crypto is that right now, integration
- 15:41Speaker 1: into these super apps, and I think also into other sectors,
- 15:44Speaker 1: you know, whether it's going to be gaming, banking, RWA's,
- 15:48Speaker 1: we're going to see a layer of crypto that is,
- 15:51Speaker 1: to your point, kind of hidden, much like other technology.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Once technology really starts working, you don't even know it's there,
- 15:58Speaker 1: So that's when you know it's doing the right thing.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So it's gonna be fun to watch what Vila is
- 16:04Speaker 1: up to for sure. Hey, Pat, thanks so much for
- 16:06Speaker 1: coming in on the show today.
- 16:08Speaker 2: We appreciate it.
