- 0:48Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, I have your attention. Please. The show
- 0:58Speaker 1: starts in seven shi.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Fr fun, cool, good evening, good evening.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Hello to everybody, Welcome to another episode of Bad to Business.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I am your fabulous host, Shining Saffron. Glad you can
- 1:29Speaker 3: join me this evening. I'm gonna give you guys a
- 1:31Speaker 3: chance to come on in. I have some important stuff
- 1:35Speaker 3: I'd like to talk about this evening. I tried to
- 1:37Speaker 3: send out some information I've been kind of lost in
- 1:40Speaker 3: the sauce. I mean, if you guys have been as
- 1:41Speaker 3: busy as I am with this back to school stuff
- 1:44Speaker 3: and trying to do as much as you want to do.
- 1:47Speaker 3: First of all, salute to you for making it through
- 1:49Speaker 3: the week, but it's just been so much going on.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I had sent out something, something short of a PSA
- 1:57Speaker 3: about the PTA thinking about joining the PTA in either
- 2:03Speaker 3: one or both of my daughter's school this year, because one,
- 2:08Speaker 3: I need to be one of the the first to.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Know what's going on.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Two I want to be one of the first responders,
- 2:17Speaker 3: if you will, And three I want to make sure
- 2:21Speaker 3: that my voice is heard learning that if you are
- 2:25Speaker 3: not a part of the school or any type of
- 2:27Speaker 3: you know, program, something like that, you could just be
- 2:30Speaker 3: considered a disgruntled parent, right, just like an employee, you
- 2:34Speaker 3: know that that gets let go for something and comes
- 2:38Speaker 3: back and blows the whistle right and sweep that under
- 2:41Speaker 3: the table as a disgruntal employee. So I definitely don't
- 2:44Speaker 3: want to seem like a disgruntle mom or a disgruntle parent.
- 2:47Speaker 3: But I need to be in the know, and I
- 2:50Speaker 3: don't want to be one of the last to know
- 2:52Speaker 3: when it's too late to make a decision about something, right.
- 2:56Speaker 3: So I sent out a little PSA about the PTA,
- 3:00Speaker 3: wondering if there's anybody who's ever been a part of
- 3:02Speaker 3: the PTA, who has or who is on the PTA
- 3:06Speaker 3: right now, how is it? You know, what, what are
- 3:10Speaker 3: the benefits were, what are the pros and cons?
- 3:13Speaker 4: Of course, my first thought is like anything.
- 3:17Speaker 3: That you pay dues on, if you pay dues, your
- 3:19Speaker 3: voice will get heard. However, if you flip it to
- 3:22Speaker 3: how voting is done, you know everywhere just because you
- 3:27Speaker 3: vote doesn't mean your voice is heard. So I'm really
- 3:32Speaker 3: looking into doing PTA. I really would like some feedback
- 3:35Speaker 3: if there's anybody who has any information about PTA's and
- 3:40Speaker 3: they're starting to recruit pretty soon, so you know, I
- 3:45Speaker 3: will post more things. I will be following this up
- 3:48Speaker 3: into the decision making of being a part of a
- 3:51Speaker 3: PTA or not. I will be given the updates on
- 3:55Speaker 3: the pros and cons right now. I live in a
- 3:57Speaker 3: pretty big county where I stay. It's predominantly this county,
- 4:04Speaker 3: and yeah, it's just a lot of stuff going on.
- 4:07Speaker 3: So I want to know if if it's worth investing
- 4:10Speaker 3: my time and my money or should I just stay
- 4:12Speaker 3: a disguntled parent pretty good at fighting for the rights
- 4:17Speaker 3: and for the good, so.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I've never you know, back down from a fade.
- 4:22Speaker 3: So I am just trying to get some insight, like
- 4:25Speaker 3: I said, and see what's going on. But if you
- 4:29Speaker 3: guys give me any insight, let me know what you
- 4:31Speaker 3: think about the PTA. Like I said, is it worth it?
- 4:34Speaker 3: I would really appreciate it. I have a junior high
- 4:37Speaker 3: schooler and a high schooler. It is very important for
- 4:40Speaker 3: me to be a part of what's going on. Speaking
- 4:43Speaker 3: of that, and I just want to kind of talk
- 4:45Speaker 3: all things school today because, like I said, we made
- 4:47Speaker 3: it through the first week. I'm proud of you parents,
- 4:49Speaker 3: I'm proud of you students, kids, all of the people
- 4:51Speaker 3: who you know, had to hit it hard this week
- 4:54Speaker 3: after you know, kind of feeling like we've been through
- 4:58Speaker 3: a rough summer. You know, it seemed like, you know,
- 5:01Speaker 3: sometimes we get kind of prepared back to school things
- 5:03Speaker 3: and stuff. But I kind of noticed that this week
- 5:05Speaker 3: or I'm sorry this this time around, there wasn't so
- 5:08Speaker 3: many back to school events. They kind of consolidated on
- 5:11Speaker 3: things like that, and that kind of raised some cause
- 5:15Speaker 3: for concern.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I noticed that in my.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Area they they did a back to school thing at
- 5:20Speaker 3: the Convention Center to where they could bring a lot
- 5:23Speaker 3: of the counties or a lot of the schools there
- 5:25Speaker 3: instead of having them at individual schools.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Right, So, yeah, that's cool.
- 5:29Speaker 3: But that's a lot of kids and a lot of
- 5:34Speaker 3: in one place. Let me say it like that. It's
- 5:37Speaker 3: a pretty big space, like I said, convention Center, but
- 5:43Speaker 3: that that's it's too much. It's too much. So we
- 5:47Speaker 3: didn't go to that one, but we went to a
- 5:52Speaker 3: couple of different things and stuff and just the stuff
- 5:54Speaker 3: that they're giving out and you know, for for the
- 5:57Speaker 3: kids and the back to school stuff, I can see
- 5:58Speaker 3: it getting slimmer and slimmer. So again, I kind of
- 6:02Speaker 3: want to know what's going on behind the scenes. I
- 6:04Speaker 3: am a type of make it make sense type of
- 6:07Speaker 3: person I am learning recently here. If you try to
- 6:10Speaker 3: make it make sense too much and I just ain't
- 6:12Speaker 3: getting it, that's a little bit of coercion. So we
- 6:14Speaker 3: don't do it like that. If it don't make sense,
- 6:16Speaker 3: I just fly by it. But the PTA right now
- 6:19Speaker 3: makes a lot of sense to me. And PTA, of
- 6:21Speaker 3: course we know, is Parent Teacher Association, right. I want
- 6:25Speaker 3: to get into associating with the teachers who are my
- 6:29Speaker 3: bridgeway to the upperclassmen or i'm sorry, the overheads, and
- 6:35Speaker 3: I want to know what's going on.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I want to know what's going on.
- 6:37Speaker 3: You put out all these bulletins about, you know, having
- 6:41Speaker 3: strict guidelines. My daughter school said that they would be
- 6:44Speaker 3: doing premium food and lunches this time around, which I
- 6:48Speaker 3: thought was a little strange because you know, we just
- 6:50Speaker 3: got the free lunch program back, so to just get
- 6:53Speaker 3: it back right before school started. I didn't see it
- 6:56Speaker 3: coming together as such a big, you know, great thing. Again,
- 7:03Speaker 3: I'll say, so they're already falling short of that.
- 7:08Speaker 4: My key.
- 7:09Speaker 3: My kids, my daughters keep me updated on a lot
- 7:11Speaker 3: of things going on in school. I ask a lot
- 7:13Speaker 3: of questions. So, knowing that they've put out all these
- 7:17Speaker 3: bulletins prior to school starting and everything, I'm just kind
- 7:19Speaker 3: of following up with it, which reminds me I forgot
- 7:21Speaker 3: to hit the teachers up this week. But and you
- 7:25Speaker 3: do want to stay on top of the teachers with
- 7:27Speaker 3: your students.
- 7:29Speaker 4: As far as my daughter.
- 7:30Speaker 3: In high school, they have done what I have to
- 7:33Speaker 3: call a clean sweep. I don't know if they decided
- 7:36Speaker 3: that the teachers there were not just doing what they
- 7:38Speaker 3: were supposed to do. I know the students were complaining,
- 7:41Speaker 3: and it gets important to listen to these students. Okay,
- 7:45Speaker 3: it gets important to listen to your students. I have
- 7:47Speaker 3: told my daughters. By all means, when you're at school,
- 7:50Speaker 3: you listen to the authority figures. If you ever feel
- 7:53Speaker 3: threatened or violated, then you call me. Then I get
- 7:56Speaker 3: on the adult level. But as far as I'm concerned,
- 7:59Speaker 3: I'm they are your parents at school, So I really
- 8:04Speaker 3: want to get into what they're talking about, what they know,
- 8:09Speaker 3: what they're teaching, especially with.
- 8:11Speaker 4: My daughter having a new board of teachers.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Knew this, knew that they switched positions and stuff like that,
- 8:19Speaker 3: which I'm kind of glad because the school wasn't going
- 8:21Speaker 3: as well as I had wanted it for her in
- 8:24Speaker 3: high school. But we're on a pathway right now, and
- 8:27Speaker 3: I don't want to take her off of that pathway.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So I want to make sure that the teachers know
- 8:30Speaker 3: her pathway and they're following that. So one thing I've
- 8:33Speaker 3: noticed about myself this year, and only in the first week,
- 8:36Speaker 3: is I'm paying way more attention. Of course, we all
- 8:38Speaker 3: need to write. There's been a lot of changes since January,
- 8:42Speaker 3: so we definitely need to pay attention to what is
- 8:45Speaker 3: taking effect, what is being applied, you know, how it
- 8:50Speaker 3: affects us in the long run, our scholars in school,
- 8:53Speaker 3: and then how it affects us outside of and to
- 8:57Speaker 3: bring me or to bring that point up, I was
- 9:00Speaker 3: talking to my daughter this week and she goes, well, mom,
- 9:02Speaker 3: you know they're getting ready to close down schools. And
- 9:05Speaker 3: I told her, well, Ray, they've been talking about closing
- 9:08Speaker 3: down schools. And if it's one thing that COVID did
- 9:10Speaker 3: show us is that we don't really need the facility anymore. Right,
- 9:13Speaker 3: So what they found this year is that there are
- 9:18Speaker 3: not as many enrollments in the schools facilities, not just
- 9:23Speaker 3: where I live, but in other places that I guess
- 9:26Speaker 3: they've taken the census on I was reading that most facilities,
- 9:31Speaker 3: school facilities can hold up to seventy thousand students. Right now,
- 9:35Speaker 3: there's roughly fifty thousand on an average that's checking in
- 9:40Speaker 3: or enrolled in schools right now. I guess they have
- 9:42Speaker 3: taken the alternative road, and that is to go to
- 9:44Speaker 3: online school or you got kids that's just not going.
- 9:48Speaker 3: So what I found interesting is our president has decided
- 9:54Speaker 3: to and again I will post a lot of this
- 9:57Speaker 3: stuff on my page and to follow up. There's me
- 10:00Speaker 3: coming up. I will keep you guys informed because I
- 10:02Speaker 3: think it's very important. If it's happening in my area,
- 10:05Speaker 3: I'm sure it's going to happen in yours. So he's
- 10:08Speaker 3: decided that since these facilities are not holding all these students,
- 10:13Speaker 3: let's go ahead and close the schools down.
- 10:17Speaker 4: That's the resolution.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Let's close the schools down that are not being used,
- 10:21Speaker 3: use those facilities for whatever, to make America great again,
- 10:25Speaker 3: and then we will consolidate and overcrowd the other schools
- 10:29Speaker 3: that are still standing. Don't take me verbatim. That's not
- 10:33Speaker 3: what he said, but that is what's being implied on
- 10:38Speaker 3: the flip side of that. The irony to that is
- 10:41Speaker 3: that you hired someone that you trusted to negotiate and
- 10:48Speaker 3: navigate your educational department. And I'm talking about the President
- 10:52Speaker 3: and his friend's office, I'm sorry, And you hired Ms
- 10:57Speaker 3: McMahon to be a part or to lead your educational department.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And now that you're finding out what's going on and
- 11:05Speaker 3: how these facilities are just taking billions of dollars and
- 11:08Speaker 3: aren't even using them, now you want to start closing
- 11:11Speaker 3: down schools and kind of taking some of her authority
- 11:16Speaker 3: from her. And it was funny because I was discussing
- 11:18Speaker 3: this with somebody else and she made the joke and said,
- 11:21Speaker 3: it's almost like she's saying, Bro, I just got the job,
- 11:26Speaker 3: but you just gave me the job, and I'm already
- 11:27Speaker 3: getting it pulled from under me. And so it's funny
- 11:30Speaker 3: to me that his resolution he already lowered.
- 11:33Speaker 4: The GPA for teachers.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I don't know if anybody's aware of that, but he
- 11:37Speaker 3: lowered the GPA because there was such a teacher shortage
- 11:40Speaker 3: that he figured, let's hire some hiable people. Trying to
- 11:48Speaker 3: find the words as I go, I know that the
- 11:50Speaker 3: algorithms can, you know, take me by storm. So I'm
- 11:53Speaker 3: trying to find the words that don't offend or anything else.
- 11:56Speaker 3: But so he got to hiring some hirable people. But
- 12:01Speaker 3: you have parents like me who are concerned about that.
- 12:05Speaker 3: One thing that I said to or one point I
- 12:07Speaker 3: made to one of my daughter's teachers, is while he's
- 12:10Speaker 3: lowering the GPA level for teachers, I'm concerned that when
- 12:14Speaker 3: my daughter graduates, she will be graduating with a higher
- 12:16Speaker 3: GPA than the teacher who taught her. Make that makes
- 12:21Speaker 3: sense or don't don't, because at that point that becomes coercion.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to let that go. However, I'm not
- 12:30Speaker 3: in control of that.
- 12:32Speaker 4: You know.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I want my daughter to have a good education. I
- 12:34Speaker 3: want her to keep pushing, you know, through with some stuff.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I want her to stay motivated all those things for
- 12:40Speaker 3: this pathway. But but I need it to be done right. Uh.
- 12:46Speaker 3: And I do understand that there are teachers that are
- 12:48Speaker 3: bowing out. For those of you that are teachers or
- 12:50Speaker 3: some type of educational administrator, thank you so much for
- 12:54Speaker 3: hanging on. I know it's hard, I know it gets challenging.
- 12:59Speaker 3: You know another reason why I wanted to be a
- 13:01Speaker 3: part of the PTA. I you know, I'm I'm a
- 13:06Speaker 3: whole character and like my podcast, you know, Bad to Business,
- 13:11Speaker 3: bringing all diverse discussions to business. It's about finding some
- 13:15Speaker 3: common ground in a diverse world. So part of me
- 13:20Speaker 3: wanting to be on the PTA is finding how much
- 13:23Speaker 3: diversity as far as even different trains of thoughts, where
- 13:29Speaker 3: your vision is going for our scholars. Again, these are
- 13:31Speaker 3: my kids too, so I need to know where you're
- 13:35Speaker 3: going with that. But you know, not to be all
- 13:39Speaker 3: over the place. I want to touch back on this.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So he lowered the GPA and that was not enough.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I guess we still weren't doing it. Kids are still
- 13:48Speaker 3: not coming to school, parents are not pleased. You know what,
- 13:52Speaker 3: He's real simple in that he doesn't take long to
- 14:00Speaker 3: make a decision. Now, on the flip side to that,
- 14:03Speaker 3: that could mean it's just, you know, not very well
- 14:05Speaker 3: thought out, not very well looked into, not very well
- 14:11Speaker 3: well researched. But as I've come to learn, and I
- 14:14Speaker 3: saw in a movie, some people are elected to lead
- 14:17Speaker 3: and not to read. So you got somebody who's making
- 14:22Speaker 3: decisions just to make it as easy as cut it out.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Close the schools, let's do away with whatever's not doing it.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I saw that in Atlanta alone, there will be at
- 14:33Speaker 3: least forty two schools closed, you know, I think they
- 14:38Speaker 3: said by like twenty forty, So in the next twenty years,
- 14:42Speaker 3: forty two schools. First of all, I'm kind of surprised,
- 14:44Speaker 3: Like Atlanta Public school system has forty two schools that's
- 14:48Speaker 3: up and running and you know, got kids coming, but
- 14:52Speaker 3: so he plans on closing them down. Now, Miss McMahon says, now,
- 14:55Speaker 3: wait a minute, Like I said, bro, you just gave
- 14:57Speaker 3: me the job. You just gave me the job, So
- 15:00Speaker 3: give me a minute. Let me try to see what's
- 15:01Speaker 3: going on. So I read that she is now asking
- 15:05Speaker 3: the president to back her and help her to promote
- 15:09Speaker 3: recruiters to go out and talk to these kids and
- 15:12Speaker 3: talk to these scholars and these students and find out
- 15:14Speaker 3: why they're not going to school or you know, what
- 15:16Speaker 3: is it that they're missing. I think I talked to
- 15:19Speaker 3: someone who said that this has happened before and it's
- 15:21Speaker 3: still declining. So she's asking him to give her some time,
- 15:28Speaker 3: to give her some time.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I don't know what.
- 15:30Speaker 3: His decision on that is yet, I'm pretty sure he
- 15:33Speaker 3: didn't take any time to make a decision on that,
- 15:36Speaker 3: but she's asking for some time.
- 15:37Speaker 4: So I'm really excited to see how.
- 15:40Speaker 3: She incorporates her ptaism to find out what we need
- 15:47Speaker 3: to do to not close schools. What are the programs
- 15:49Speaker 3: that we need now? If you think about it, and
- 15:51Speaker 3: I was thinking about it myself, part of the reason
- 15:54Speaker 3: why some of these parents have decided to enroll their
- 15:57Speaker 3: school I mean, i'm sorry, enroll their childs in to
- 16:00Speaker 3: online schools now is because a.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Lot of the programs were cut.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I said a lot of the programs were cut in
- 16:09Speaker 3: case you missed that. So the reason why the programs
- 16:12Speaker 3: were cut is because, well, I'm sorry, I don't know,
- 16:14Speaker 3: and I'm not gonna make it make sense to you
- 16:16Speaker 3: because I would straight be doing coercion to try to
- 16:19Speaker 3: make it make sense. But the programs were cut. So
- 16:21Speaker 3: when you got moms like me who have to work
- 16:24Speaker 3: later than when the schools are let out, and now
- 16:28Speaker 3: I have nobody to watch my child, well I'm not
- 16:30Speaker 3: gonna be confused and going stupid and cutting my hours.
- 16:33Speaker 3: That is, you know, helping me pay for my little
- 16:37Speaker 3: bit of medical So now what I have to do
- 16:41Speaker 3: is I'm gonna have to cut the school stuff out
- 16:46Speaker 3: because the taking you to school, and then now I
- 16:47Speaker 3: don't have anywhere for you to go after school. And
- 16:50Speaker 3: I'll be honest with you, my daughters were on online
- 16:53Speaker 3: schooling for two years after COVID. I did not have
- 16:55Speaker 3: the time, the patients, nor the flexibility to go back
- 17:00Speaker 3: to work and them say oh no, we're going back.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Oh no, we're going back. Take them in, send them back,
- 17:06Speaker 3: take them in. I just didn't have that. So I said,
- 17:08Speaker 3: until the world gets a handle on their viruses, my
- 17:12Speaker 3: kids would be safely at home.
- 17:13Speaker 4: So I did that.
- 17:15Speaker 3: There is you know, some pros and cons to it.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I was able to keep a monitor on my kids.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I want to tell you that they were safely at
- 17:21Speaker 3: home instead of in these crazy schools. But as you know,
- 17:24Speaker 3: you know as well as I know, your home can
- 17:26Speaker 3: be just as unsafe from predators as somewhere on the outside.
- 17:31Speaker 3: So you know, it was a chance I was taking.
- 17:34Speaker 3: But it was a better chance to keep them at
- 17:36Speaker 3: home and not have the ups and downs than to
- 17:39Speaker 3: go to work and then fire me over no control
- 17:42Speaker 3: of my own. So they did the two years online
- 17:45Speaker 3: and it was good. The reason why I decided to
- 17:48Speaker 3: let them go back. Is because now the world is changing.
- 17:51Speaker 3: My daughter was about to start high school and I
- 17:53Speaker 3: did not want her to miss out on the social
- 17:56Speaker 3: part of high school. That's a part of her shaping
- 17:59Speaker 3: her can character and shaping who she is. So I
- 18:01Speaker 3: didn't want her to miss out on that. So I
- 18:02Speaker 3: made the conscious decision, Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and
- 18:05Speaker 3: let y'all go back face to face. That first year
- 18:08Speaker 3: was rough, Okay, I did not have any parent teacher association.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I was just trying to get them back and now
- 18:14Speaker 3: trying to get into a schedule. I did have to
- 18:16Speaker 3: cut my hours to go and get them. A lot
- 18:19Speaker 3: of things came out of that, so I'm learning as
- 18:23Speaker 3: I go. Like I said, there's pros and cons about
- 18:25Speaker 3: them going to school. There's pros and cons about them
- 18:27Speaker 3: being on online. So now a lot of kids are
- 18:30Speaker 3: going to online. I totally understand the parents. The programs
- 18:33Speaker 3: are cut. They don't know what to do. They had
- 18:34Speaker 3: to keep their kids at home. It is what it is,
- 18:36Speaker 3: and it does work for those that it works for.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'll say it like that. So I am following pretty
- 18:45Speaker 3: closely to see how our president and our head of
- 18:48Speaker 3: the Educational Department is going to handle these schools not
- 18:53Speaker 3: having kids in them. As far as I know, they
- 18:59Speaker 3: are still building schools or rebuilding some schools, but I
- 19:03Speaker 3: think that there's going to be a halt on that
- 19:04Speaker 3: really soon. It's sad to say, but it is what
- 19:08Speaker 3: it is. Like I said, COVID showed us what we
- 19:11Speaker 3: could and what we can and cannot do without socializing
- 19:16Speaker 3: with the rest of the world. So I mean, it's
- 19:19Speaker 3: just a matter of time before the convenience comes. But
- 19:22Speaker 3: I am also hoping that our president tries to kind
- 19:26Speaker 3: of accommodate, see what's going on, bring back some type
- 19:29Speaker 3: of programs that help us parents that we're not depriving
- 19:32Speaker 3: our kids, because one con about your kids being at
- 19:35Speaker 3: home is to cut off that socialization and then the
- 19:39Speaker 3: only part of the world that they get to see
- 19:41Speaker 3: or understands what's on that TV screen or what's on
- 19:43Speaker 3: that phone. It's really not a great thing for the kids.
- 19:49Speaker 3: So I'm just saying, y'all stay tuned. I have some
- 19:53Speaker 3: especially in my area. I don't know if it's going
- 19:55Speaker 3: to be happening in yours, but I have some bulletins,
- 19:57Speaker 3: some meetings that are coming up about what's going on
- 20:00Speaker 3: and what's soon to develop in the area. There's a
- 20:03Speaker 3: meeting coming up at least in my area on the
- 20:05Speaker 3: twenty fifth of August. I will be showing up in person,
- 20:08Speaker 3: will be taking some notes some things going on. They'll
- 20:12Speaker 3: be talking about their ideas of closing schools and what
- 20:15Speaker 3: they plan on doing. And I can only hope that
- 20:17Speaker 3: they met with the educational director and the president and
- 20:20Speaker 3: got some notes before they try to bring it to
- 20:23Speaker 3: the public and tell us what is to happen what
- 20:25Speaker 3: is not to happen. So I am excited to follow
- 20:28Speaker 3: up on that. Like I said, I will be posting
- 20:29Speaker 3: that on my page. For anybody who lives in my area,
- 20:31Speaker 3: I'd like for you to show up. Show up, show up,
- 20:33Speaker 3: show up. That's what it takes. Show up, ask the questions,
- 20:37Speaker 3: let them know that there's some pressure on it. When
- 20:39Speaker 3: the less people that show up, the more they know
- 20:42Speaker 3: that they can have their way in any part of
- 20:45Speaker 3: the world for that matter. But definitely want to show
- 20:48Speaker 3: up for your kids and keep asking those teachers. There's
- 20:52Speaker 3: a lot of teachers that I'm finding that don't know
- 20:54Speaker 3: their shoulder shrugging that does not sit well with me unacceptable.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Go find out, Go ask your boss, go put it
- 21:03Speaker 3: in your group chat. I need to know by the
- 21:06Speaker 3: next week. We need to know what's going on in
- 21:08Speaker 3: these schools, these areas, and just what our children are
- 21:14Speaker 3: going to be headed into. Because while you think that
- 21:17Speaker 3: that's just like a school issue, we know as parents
- 21:19Speaker 3: that is going to fall on us, like the parents
- 21:22Speaker 3: who no longer have these programs because they voted for
- 21:25Speaker 3: a president that they thought would accommodate the things they needed. See,
- 21:30Speaker 3: that's what happens when you try to be a little
- 21:33Speaker 3: deceitful and underhand it and try to undercut other people,
- 21:37Speaker 3: you end up cutting off your own people too. Gotta
- 21:40Speaker 3: be careful, just be right. So also, real quick, while
- 21:45Speaker 3: I'm touching on that, it's really important for me to
- 21:47Speaker 3: be a part of the PTA in my county because
- 21:50Speaker 3: in my county, and I'm not gonna speak too much
- 21:52Speaker 3: on this until I follow up and I have more
- 21:54Speaker 3: facts from when it began to what it is now.
- 21:59Speaker 3: We had it that was on the board in my county,
- 22:03Speaker 3: and he blew the whistle. He found out that there
- 22:07Speaker 3: were some funds misappropriated, that they were not being taken seriously.
- 22:12Speaker 3: They weren't going to the places that they needed to
- 22:14Speaker 3: go to. So he blew the whistle and he was
- 22:19Speaker 3: fired for it. He was fired for it, and I
- 22:24Speaker 3: may have said something about it before, maybe not, but
- 22:26Speaker 3: it's very important. So he was fired for it, trying
- 22:30Speaker 3: to swoop it under the table. So they thought this
- 22:32Speaker 3: man again, I don't want to say his name. I
- 22:34Speaker 3: really need to get all these facts straight first, but
- 22:37Speaker 3: I will be following up on it as I follow
- 22:38Speaker 3: up on the PTA. This man came back about a
- 22:43Speaker 3: month ago, which has been now about four months since
- 22:46Speaker 3: he's been fired, and what he said was, I don't
- 22:49Speaker 3: even want my job back.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I don't even want to work with these people. That's
- 22:53Speaker 4: not what I'm here for.
- 22:54Speaker 3: He said. What was my job and it's still my
- 22:57Speaker 3: job to do, right, is to make sure that the
- 23:00Speaker 3: these people, these taxpayers, are getting their money applied correctly.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I am telling y'all right now that I myself recorded
- 23:07Speaker 3: seventy thousand dollars plus of I'm gonna say unrecorded expenses, meaning,
- 23:16Speaker 3: like he said, we have the we have the access
- 23:22Speaker 3: to the money, but for some reason it's not being
- 23:24Speaker 3: applied right. So he was digging and wondering why. And
- 23:28Speaker 3: I even told somebody I was talking to, I said,
- 23:29Speaker 3: it seems as though he was hired to be the
- 23:31Speaker 3: fall guy and he found you out. And so he
- 23:34Speaker 3: told them they he's not gonna do that. So they
- 23:36Speaker 3: fired him. Came back now about a month ago and said,
- 23:39Speaker 3: it's not about me having my job. It's about these
- 23:41Speaker 3: taxpayers money being applied, right, all right. So he said,
- 23:44Speaker 3: just go find the money. That's all I'm asking.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Y'all to do.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Leave me.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I'm bringing it to you. Find the money, that's all
- 23:51Speaker 4: I'm asking.
- 23:51Speaker 3: You to do. So they decided to do some digging,
- 23:56Speaker 3: and they decided to see if what he said was
- 23:58Speaker 3: even valid.
- 23:59Speaker 4: And it out that.
- 24:01Speaker 3: The head counselman, I can't tell you if he is.
- 24:05Speaker 3: I don't. He's not the mayor of my area. But
- 24:10Speaker 3: he was spending money on lavish trips and food and
- 24:16Speaker 3: things of that nature in my county where I pay
- 24:19Speaker 3: taxes that I would have known nothing about if this
- 24:23Speaker 3: man didn't get hired and fired.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Oh man, God with the process.
- 24:29Speaker 3: You're good. You're good.
- 24:31Speaker 4: And that man don't even want his job back.
- 24:34Speaker 3: So when I tell y'all it's important to be in
- 24:37Speaker 3: you know, in the know of parent teacher associations, what
- 24:41Speaker 3: the school board is doing, because you're paying all this
- 24:44Speaker 3: money and we sit at home and we wonder where's
- 24:46Speaker 3: my money going?
- 24:47Speaker 4: Why is this happening?
- 24:48Speaker 3: Why we can ask each other all day what's going
- 24:50Speaker 3: on and can't answer nothing. Go ask the people who know.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Show up for your kids and ask what's going on?
- 25:00Speaker 3: And you know, it's funny. I'm saying all this while
- 25:02Speaker 3: I pose the question, should I go for the pta?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Should I not? What do you guys think? I'm deading
- 25:08Speaker 3: that right now. I'm sorry, I'm unliving that right now.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I'm unliving that right now. I'm going to move forward
- 25:16Speaker 3: and be more involved. I want to know. And it
- 25:19Speaker 3: seems as though they put out these little bulletins that say, hey,
- 25:22Speaker 3: we have this going on on this date. They don't
- 25:25Speaker 3: really discuss it, don't really follow up, they don't really
- 25:27Speaker 3: catch our attention like everything else does on these phones,
- 25:30Speaker 3: so they figure they won't show up. They know better,
- 25:33Speaker 3: and they hold it at the time where parents are
- 25:35Speaker 3: just getting off of work. I'll tell you what, I
- 25:37Speaker 3: take the day off. I'll take the day off. One
- 25:41Speaker 3: thing I remember my aunt telling me, she said, as
- 25:44Speaker 3: I was a substitute teacher Shannon. I did not have
- 25:48Speaker 3: I did not have any favorites. I didn't show any favoritism,
- 25:53Speaker 3: she said. But for the parents who did call me
- 25:57Speaker 3: on a regular to check for their child, check how
- 25:59Speaker 3: they're I was doing, we seem to pay more attention
- 26:02Speaker 3: to those kids. Why because we know the parents are
- 26:05Speaker 3: gonna call and they're gonna want an update, and we
- 26:06Speaker 3: gotta say something that says we are paying attention.
- 26:10Speaker 4: So I got that.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I got that, and now I need and want for
- 26:14Speaker 3: the teachers to pay more attention to what's going on.
- 26:17Speaker 3: They're going to answer the questions to or they're going
- 26:20Speaker 3: to answer me to the questions I have.
- 26:24Speaker 4: They I really need that right now.
- 26:26Speaker 3: So again, you know, maybe you don't have to join
- 26:30Speaker 3: the PTA, but it is important that you ask these questions.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Show up at your kids' school, you know, once in
- 26:36Speaker 3: a while. I'm on this regiment now where I reach
- 26:39Speaker 3: out to the teachers and I have a templated question.
- 26:43Speaker 3: It's just general question that I'm sending to all my
- 26:46Speaker 3: to all the teachers of my daughters, and it basically
- 26:50Speaker 3: just says, hey, how you doing. Happy Friday? Because I'm
- 26:53Speaker 3: doing it every Friday happy Friday. Just wanted to check
- 26:56Speaker 3: and see how Ray is doing, how Nay is doing.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Let me know what's going on. Are we staying up
- 27:01Speaker 3: or are we falling back?
- 27:02Speaker 4: Let me know.
- 27:04Speaker 3: And that's something that I have now determined or decided
- 27:06Speaker 3: that I will do every Friday, because if that's what
- 27:10Speaker 3: keeps my kids on their mind to make sure that
- 27:14Speaker 3: they're getting the education. I want the teacher to tell
- 27:17Speaker 3: my daughters, you know you better turn that in. You
- 27:21Speaker 3: know you don't want to be late on nothing. You
- 27:22Speaker 3: know your mom's gonna be calling and asking me, and
- 27:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to tell her. That's what I want
- 27:27Speaker 3: Parents Teacher Association. Otherwise, what's the point of a PTA.
- 27:33Speaker 3: I'm not gonna pay no dues. That's not gonna get
- 27:36Speaker 3: me heard. I'm not going to show up to places
- 27:40Speaker 3: and meetings that's not gonna get me heard. I'm not
- 27:44Speaker 3: gonna not show up because that doesn't get me heard.
- 27:49Speaker 3: So I am encouraging you parents to follow up with
- 27:53Speaker 3: the schools. Do it early. They're already trying to make
- 27:56Speaker 3: changes after the first week. Apparently they've heard of the
- 27:59Speaker 3: changes like I have. So what they're trying to do
- 28:02Speaker 3: is get their kids in order shape them, you know,
- 28:05Speaker 3: get them to where they need to be, whatever the
- 28:07Speaker 3: case may be. But we as parents want to make
- 28:09Speaker 3: sure that they're doing it right. We leave our children
- 28:12Speaker 3: with them for more parts of the the attentive part
- 28:17Speaker 3: of their day. Then we have them. Even when we
- 28:22Speaker 3: do have them, you know, even when we do have
- 28:24Speaker 3: them on the days that you know we could have
- 28:29Speaker 3: them all day, it's on the weekend.
- 28:30Speaker 4: That's only two days out of a week.
- 28:32Speaker 3: So please, I am encouraging y'all stay up, stay up
- 28:36Speaker 3: on what's going on in your county.
- 28:37Speaker 4: If you don't want to know what's going on just
- 28:39Speaker 4: in the.
- 28:39Speaker 3: City, ask them where your money is going, your tax
- 28:42Speaker 3: payer money is going. As far as the schools, we
- 28:44Speaker 3: know we the lottery is supposed to be paying the schools.
- 28:47Speaker 3: But when the schools were shut down during COVID, where
- 28:50Speaker 3: did all that money stack up? Because people were still
- 28:52Speaker 3: playing a lottery. So, just like our taxes, just like
- 28:58Speaker 3: insurance that we pay into it, never use what happens
- 29:02Speaker 3: to it.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Why are we not asking what happens?
- 29:05Speaker 3: I just got my daughter a phone and they tried
- 29:07Speaker 3: to tell me it was all these taxes, oh, taxes
- 29:10Speaker 3: and extras additional taxes add up to sixty five dollars.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I said, oh, can you break that down? Can you
- 29:17Speaker 3: break down how that added up? What taxes in my
- 29:20Speaker 3: pain that this Great America has put back on me
- 29:27Speaker 3: to add up to sixty three dollars when the phone
- 29:30Speaker 3: was free? How to phone free and the tax is
- 29:32Speaker 3: sixty three dollars? Find out what's going on with your money.
- 29:37Speaker 3: You may feel like there's nothing you can really do
- 29:39Speaker 3: about it, but you won't know till you find out
- 29:41Speaker 3: what's going on with it. You don't even know what's
- 29:44Speaker 3: going on with your money. Therefore you can't know what
- 29:46Speaker 3: to vote for or what to vote against. You gotta
- 29:49Speaker 3: know everything in your voting scale or slide is attached
- 29:52Speaker 3: to what you can contribute to it. So at this point,
- 29:57Speaker 3: like I said, we're doing all things school though I'm
- 29:59Speaker 3: not doing pulle only through you know, our Great America
- 30:03Speaker 3: and our great American team in there, because now they
- 30:06Speaker 3: are facing with us.
- 30:09Speaker 4: You know, little people are facing.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I'm just a parent with children at school who need
- 30:13Speaker 3: the programs, well, don't have the program But now we
- 30:16Speaker 3: go backwards, don't have the programs. My child won't be
- 30:19Speaker 3: going to the school. And now I'm just a parent
- 30:22Speaker 3: that you want money from that, you want my taxes
- 30:24Speaker 3: from that. I will no longer put into anything else
- 30:28Speaker 3: until I know that my kids are good. So again,
- 30:33Speaker 3: shout out to our kids that made it through school
- 30:35Speaker 3: this week. Keep going, Okay, KFG, keep going, parents, keep going.
- 30:42Speaker 3: This is only the beginning. We got until almost next summer.
- 30:45Speaker 3: So get involved, please, I would love to hear from
- 30:49Speaker 3: you all. I be shared.
- 30:50Speaker 4: I will be sharing.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I think I'm gonna start a little PTA something, maybe
- 30:54Speaker 3: my PTA journey to show y'all how serious I am.
- 30:57Speaker 4: I need my kids to have the support they need.
- 30:59Speaker 3: If I give it to them at home, you're gonna
- 31:00Speaker 3: give it to them outside of the home, especially where
- 31:03Speaker 3: I'm supposed to be paying my tax paying money. And
- 31:06Speaker 3: you know, all the education you got, you got all
- 31:08Speaker 3: the time with my kids, you're gonna do it right. So,
- 31:13Speaker 3: like I said, I'll be following up. I'll be putting
- 31:14Speaker 3: bulletins up, I'll be putting the meeting dates up for
- 31:17Speaker 3: anybody who's in my area. Want to come out and
- 31:19Speaker 3: check out what's going on, get your voice heard, show
- 31:22Speaker 3: up for your kids, show up for your community. Let's
- 31:24Speaker 3: do it and other than that, those who are not
- 31:29Speaker 3: in my area, maybe you can kind of see what's
- 31:30Speaker 3: going on and what is on the table on the
- 31:33Speaker 3: business table for discussion, and maybe you can bring it
- 31:36Speaker 3: up to your council members and see why they are
- 31:39Speaker 3: or are not talking about it, why they are not
- 31:42Speaker 3: having meetings about what's going on in the counties. And
- 31:44Speaker 3: what we do know is what is going on with
- 31:48Speaker 3: our deficiencies in America is affecting everybody. So whether it's
- 31:55Speaker 3: affecting you now or not, it will somehow. If you
- 32:00Speaker 3: are the boss of a company, your employee's gonna quit.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Your employees are gonna have a hard time doing some
- 32:06Speaker 3: stuff this year if they have kids, So get ready
- 32:09Speaker 3: to accommodate or replace. It is what it is. If
- 32:13Speaker 3: we don't want another high unemployment rate, let's get with
- 32:17Speaker 3: our president and our council members and see what they
- 32:21Speaker 3: can offer us with the money they do have stored up. Okay,
- 32:26Speaker 3: so I'm gonna go ahead and wrap this up. Like
- 32:28Speaker 3: I said, let's get with the PTA Parent Teachers Association.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I love to hear from y'all. Let me know what
- 32:34Speaker 3: you what your scholars teachers are talking about. It might
- 32:37Speaker 3: be something that hits your end that hasn't hit my
- 32:39Speaker 3: end yet, or vice versa. But we definitely need to
- 32:42Speaker 3: get a conversation about it. I cannot wait to tell
- 32:44Speaker 3: y'all what they are talking about in my county. So
- 32:48Speaker 3: hopefully i'll follow up with that. Y'all can hit me back.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Remember click in, tap in, call in, hit my line
- 32:54Speaker 3: and we'll follow up with this discussion. I am excited
- 32:57Speaker 3: to tell y'all what is going on with our money
- 33:01Speaker 3: in our county. All right, So again, thank you for
- 33:04Speaker 3: joining me. Have a great Friday night. I am shining saffron.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Peace bad to business, good, good,
