- 2:36and we are scheduled to be joined by the producers of that film. And
- 2:38I bring this up because they're doing screenings all around the state of West Virginia
- 2:43on the film. One of those is actually going to be held here in
- 2:46Charleston and that is coming up at the Culture Center on Friday night, seven
- 2:51o'clock. Now, they started doing these screenings at the in Clarksburg at the
- 2:53Robinson Grand. They've had them in Pittsburgh, in Morgantown. The one in
- 2:59Morgantown I think was last night. They're doing one tonight in Wheeling, and
- 3:01then there's one in Charleston as sen Friday night Saturday night there at Historic Fayette
- 3:07Theater in Fayetteville, and then on Sunday at the Raleigh Playhouse in Beckley,
- 3:10and there's a Q and A with the filmmakers, and again we're scheduled to
- 3:13have those filmmakers on the show with us. We haven't heard from them yet,
- 3:15but hopefully we'll get them. We'll get them dialed up here momentarily and
- 3:21we will we'll have that interview interview for you plus comeing up a little bit
- 3:23later on in the show. There. You know, this is the time
- 3:27of season where there's hotted houses and hotted trails and things of that nature going
- 3:31everywhere, and there's one of those that's called scare View. And the folks
- 3:37said, Donna Owens's gentleman's name. He's got a couple of the people with
- 3:38him. They've made their rounds here at the station. We're going to tell
- 3:42you about scare View coming up a little bit later on as well as we're
- 3:45awaiting our guests this morning. I will tell you that details continue to come
- 3:51in and further information about this story out of Cistonville. Jeff and I talked
- 3:55about it on the air yesterday. The story is actually making national news.
- 3:59The kids that were found in a well originally what was called a barn,
- 4:04and when you look at the picture of it. There actually was a shelter.
- 4:08There were teenagers that were adopted by these two people, and I used
- 4:12that term loosely, uh. And they had these kids living in virtual squalor
- 4:16inside a shed. They were locked, it was. They fed them apparently
- 4:19once a day, and they had the feeding. It sounds horrible to say
- 4:25that, but they had their feeding at six o'clock the other morning and then
- 4:27they left. And the police then showed up there and found that these that
- 4:32these young people were living in again originally called a barn, not really a
- 4:36barn. It's more what most would call a shed with no running water.
- 4:41There was a toilet in the middle of this shed. Uh. And that's
- 4:46again using the term toilet very likely. It was more like as Chris described
- 4:49it. It was more like a kind of a porta potty, sort of
- 4:53a device that you would have in a in an RV of some type that
- 4:59was in the middle of the floor, and that's what they were using for
- 5:02that. Now police moved in a couple of days ago, and Sergeant Josh
- 5:09Lester of the know County Sheriff's Department said in an interview yesterday, which by
- 5:14the way, you can read all the tales on the website that the department
- 5:16had been there at least two other times and found everything to be okay there.
- 5:21One visit was in May and the other one was in June. Now,
- 5:27neighbors had complained that the kids were outside at all hours of the night.
- 5:32Deputies did report that there had been a plumbing issue in the house when
- 5:39they visited previously, and that the family was using an outdoor toilet. Sergeant
- 5:46Lester, again in the Sheriff's Department, said that each time the deputies were
- 5:48there that they actually saw the kids, as the term that they use is,
- 5:53we actually were able to lay eyes on them because the neighbors had called
- 5:57to complain. So I guess what they were saying is is when they went
- 6:01out there, they didn't see any any signs of any any major issues other
- 6:06than as I said, that that toilet issue that they had, and so
- 6:11that's kind of where they that's kind of that's kind of what their what their
- 6:15report is saying. So again, just just a horrific situation, I mean,
- 6:23all the way all the way around, and so you can read more
- 6:28about it the website. It's a very difficult story. I'll be honest with
- 6:30you, uh, to even to even talk about now. Again, the
- 6:35neighbors are saying that they that they did contact CPS and that they found that
- 6:42there was no but there was no response, And I may have been a
- 6:45little bit harsh yesterday, and again I apologize for that because we don't know
- 6:48what the situation was. The CPS. Well, we all do know the
- 6:53issues with CPS around the state of h of West Virginia. It's basically in
- 6:58crisis mode. So this is just what the neighbors are reporting, Uh,
- 7:00that they had called repeatedly to CPS and nothing was done. You know.
- 7:05Again, Uh, we just don't know. We just don't know what that
- 7:10situation is and what actually happened there, Chris. I know yesterday reached out
- 7:15to the folks with Child Protective Services and they did not have a comment or
- 7:21you know, did not return phone calls or whatever at this particular time.
- 7:25And we'll keep working on that story. Another part of the story was is
- 7:30that apparently the family had some exotic animals, including things like wallabies, on
- 7:36the property and that those also had to be removed as well. So uh,
- 7:46again, just you know, it's it's a very difficult story to even
- 7:48to even try to talk about, and so well, the investigation is going
- 7:55to continue into that. We certainly have not heard the last of it.
- 7:59And well that's pretty much where we'll leave it there. Five Ady Live is
- 8:03brought to you a part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
- 8:07You're invited to come check out the Down and Dirty Music Festival. It's
- 8:11going on at Gomar Ballpark on October the fourteenth and fifteenth. For tickets and
- 8:15for more information, you can visit Down in Dirty Musical Festival dot com.
- 8:18If you were traveling on I sixty four westbound yesterday afternoon, you were delayed
- 8:24for a long time when a box truck crashed in the work zone near Bill's
- 8:33Creek on I sixty four wayess I guess runs over top of Bill's Creek.
- 8:37The truck was carrying non perishable food items and it happened at around one thirty
- 8:45yesterday afternoon. Story and pictures of the wreck, and these pictures, by
- 8:50the way, they were courteously I think of the emergency services folks there in
- 8:54Putnam County storing pictures of the wreck are posted at wq Metronews dot com and
- 9:00they are saying that more than likely speed was a factor. And as somebody
- 9:05who travels I sixty four daily, as you will know, I live in
- 9:09Tays Valley and I travel I sixty four at various times of the day east
- 9:13and westbound. Obviously, you know going and coming speed is a factor in
- 9:18just about everything that happens there. I mean, it's really really, it's
- 9:22really really bad, folks. Slow down, Slow down. If you're listening
- 9:28to me and you're driving right now, the speed limit is fifty five,
- 9:31okay. Friend of mine actually got a ticket for doing a couple of miles
- 9:35over. I'm not talking about he was doing in the seventies. He was
- 9:39pulled over for doing like sixty. So slow down. It's not that hard,
- 9:46okay. So I think we do have our guests on the show now.
- 9:48As I said, we're gonna do a little bit of film study today
- 9:50here in five eight Live. There's a film that's going to be screen free
- 9:52of charge this Friday night, tomorrow night on the grounds of the West Virginia
- 9:56State Capitol of the Culture Center. Started at seven. The movie is called
- 9:58Impossible Down. And I think we have Meg Griffiths on the on the phone
- 10:03with U right now. Meg, good morning, how are you? Good
- 10:05morning? Dave? And Scott Farris this year too, my cow director.
- 10:09I want it's great to have both of you here this morning. How did
- 10:13you look before we get into what the film is about, tell us how
- 10:16did you two get involved in this project and what was it that appeal to
- 10:18you about doing this? How'd the whole thing come about? Yeah, indeed,
- 10:22this is Scott. I grew up here in Harrison County in Bridgeport,
- 10:26and I've been working with Meg making short documentaries all across the country for about
- 10:30ten years, and for most of that time, we were so excited to
- 10:35tell a story in my home state of West Virginia because we realized that we
- 10:37can tell stories and places that feel like home to us, the work is
- 10:41that much better. And we just could not find a client who was willing
- 10:45to send us here, and so at a certain point we realized, you
- 10:48know what, if we're passionate about telling a story in the state, we've
- 10:50got to go do it ourselves. And so we started asking around who's doing
- 10:54interesting things in the state of West Virginia and almost immediately met a high school
- 10:58classmate of doctor I Amjads who said, you really should have talked to my
- 11:01old high school buddy. I think she's trying to move a town of people,
- 11:05and we thought that just sounds fascinating. We've got to follow up and
- 11:09everything and from that pretty organically and talk about the film and whre's that name?
- 11:15And then was Amazad is not a not a strange name to our folks
- 11:18here in West Virginia. But but talk about what's the basically plotline of the
- 11:22film. Yeah, Well, the film opens with doctor Ein Amjad grieving the
- 11:31loss of her father, who passed away just prior to the start of production
- 11:35and who had worked for years with community activists in mindon West Virginia, which
- 11:41had suffered from pretty high rates of cancer due to chemical contamination left over from
- 11:46the mining industry. And I decides, you know what, the only way
- 11:50to solve this problem permanently is to move the entire town from its current location
- 11:56to a ninety seven acre plot of land that she purchased just after her to
- 12:00have past. And so that's really the beginning of the film, and everything
- 12:03that happens is as a result of Pine's efforts to do that, and as
- 12:07a result of the EPA coming in and doing some additional testing and interacting with
- 12:13the community members and Mendon and all. Just that one thing, Dave is
- 12:16that probably folks across the state may have heard of Mendon and the work that's
- 12:20being has been done there over the last forty years. Taka jump. Where
- 12:26is men in West Virginia. Mendon is in the southern part of the state.
- 12:30It's near Beckley, near Hotel If you're familiar with that, Okay,
- 12:35you know, this is an issue that's been covered for many years by state
- 12:41papers, radio. It's gotten a lot of national coverage. But you know,
- 12:46we really think that we tried to take a different angle and shine some
- 12:50new light on the story. So I think that even folks that are familiar
- 12:54with what's been happening in men In will come and watch the film and be
- 12:58surprised. And when you talk about moving a town and somebody's just tuned in,
- 13:01they're saying, oh, you know, she's talking about moving to town
- 13:05like a movement in the town. You're literally talking about the moving a town,
- 13:09right, Yeah, I'm purchases ninety seven acres in odd West Virginia,
- 13:16which is about forty miles from Mindon, And she literally has a vision to
- 13:22move the town to relocate on that everyone that wants to go. Yeah,
- 13:26I mean that's not something it's like moving a couch or something. I mean,
- 13:30since you're moving a town. I mean, it's an unbelievable story.
- 13:33Again, we're talking to Meg Griffins and Scott Ferris from this film Impossible Town.
- 13:37It's going to be screened its Culture Center. It's on the Capitol grounds
- 13:41tomorrow night, and I will go over the entire list I did earlier.
- 13:43We're waiting you, guys of where it's been. It's been screened so far.
- 13:46What has the response been in the previous screenings that you've had, guys.
- 13:52Yeah, it's a great question. In so many ways. It's a
- 13:56pretty challenging film on a number of levels. I mean, first and foremost,
- 14:00there's just the history of trauma that this town has endured and the loss
- 14:05of life that is tough to sit and watch for ninety minutes. But then
- 14:09the film is also challenging in the sense that some of the latest data to
- 14:13come out around the levels of contamination and the location of that contamination I think
- 14:18challenges conventional wisdom about what's going on in Mendon. In an interesting way I
- 14:26and herself, which is, as you mentioned, Dave a figure that people
- 14:30have probably heard of giving her role at the state level. She reveals some
- 14:35very personal and vulnerable information in the film, and I think you will come
- 14:37away with a renewed appreciation for the cost paid by public servants like doctor Amjad,
- 14:45especially during the pandemic when there was just so much on the line and
- 14:50they worked so hard to try to ensure the health and safety of West Virginians.
- 14:54I think you'll come away with an appreciation for just the burden that folks
- 14:58like I have borne. Well, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm
- 15:01kind of a sucker for any sort of a documentary type film, anything that
- 15:05tells a true story, being a biography or whatever the case may be,
- 15:07and I'm definitely looking forward to it. It's called Impossible Town. Is there
- 15:11a like a website or something or of social media where people could learn more
- 15:16about it? Guys, absolutely absolutely, you can check out our website at
- 15:20impossibletown dot com. All right, Impossible down talk now again, the screenings
- 15:26are going to be continuing. As I said, this one I'm talking about
- 15:28because we're in Charleston. It's going to be tomorrow night at the Culture Center.
- 15:31But you started out in Clarksburg and you've gone to Pittsburgh, as I
- 15:35said, Morgantown last night, Wheeling tonight, and so hats off to you
- 15:41and're looking forward to seeing the film and best of luck with everything. Thank
- 15:45you so much. We'll see you in Charleston on Friday. All right,

- 18:52later. I got several things I want to get into this morning in the
- 18:53news, but I want to have a little fun this morning. A little
- 18:56scary for your Thursday scare view is under way. Untiled last weekend continues through
- 19:02the Halloween season. Don Owens is with us right now. Don, good
- 19:04morning, How are you pretty good? How are you doing this morning?
- 19:07And Jamie here with us as well. All right, Jamie and I were
- 19:11talking about said, now, Jamie, what is your last name? Again?
- 19:14Bonnet? Jamie Bonnat is here and I said, you know, I
- 19:17said, Jamie didn't seem to be very very excited to be here, but
- 19:19it's tough work putting one of these. We're exactly is scare view? Explained?
- 19:22To explain the spot? It's St. Albans, West Virginia. And
- 19:26where in San Cole River Road? Okay? All right? So where in?
- 19:30I mean explain explain people how to have to be there? High Street
- 19:33right off of Cole River Road. Look very first part of Cole River Road.
- 19:37You can see it from our fire station. Okay, all right?
- 19:41Uh so, I you know, let's talk about this event. I mean
- 19:44it are it already started? You've already got started? But how long is
- 19:48it going to run? The dates price with mission et cetera. Well,
- 19:51it's twelve dollars to get in unless you bring your canned food on parish foral
- 19:53item and then it's ten dollars. Uh, It'll run last weekend through the
- 19:57all weekends in October, and I will say that if you want to see
- 20:00the complete schedule, I've got that posted on my social media. It's on
- 20:03Dave Island Radio, on Facebook and at Dave A seventy on x. The
- 20:07artist formerly known as Twitter. How in the world did you guys get involved
- 20:11in this? I've been involved since day one of two thousand and eight Fire
- 20:15Department voluntary fire Department. So what was it that made you back in two
- 20:19thousand and eight say I want to be a part of this. I've been
- 20:22doing this done since I was fourteen years old. Really, yeah, it
- 20:23was no question, just jump on board and let's go creepy old school.
- 20:29It's just it's perfect for everything. Well, I was talking to one of
- 20:32our salespeople here and he said he actually attended that school, so he remembered
- 20:37it. He remembered it. Okay. So I will say this as someone
- 20:40who has helped put on an event like this in the past, although full
- 20:42disclosure of the one I helped put on was with the Civic Organization. Nowhere
- 20:45near is what it sounds like what you guys are doing. And that was
- 20:48like twenty five years or so ago, So I don't know really that you
- 20:52can compare. There's a whole lot of work, a whole lot of work
- 20:56that goes into putting one of these on. Talk about the work we start
- 21:00in November. Basically soon as we shut the doors, we're putting stuff through
- 21:04our minds. It's a year round process. Basically, what do you see
- 21:11when people come out? I mean, you don't want to spoil it for
- 21:12our listeners this morning, but when they come out to scare of you?
- 21:15What kind I mentioned the top of the show that there's all kinds of trails,
- 21:18there's all kinds of houses, and what makes what makes yours different?
- 21:21What will people see when they come out? We got fifty thousand square foot
- 21:26of old creepy school. It may be creepy without even decorating. Is that
- 21:32what you said? Yes, it is very much. So it has a
- 21:34it has a on beyance about it. And so I imagine because I've got
- 21:38friends that are really into this sort of thing with their kids and with others,
- 21:41and although they just make it a point during the month of October,
- 21:45starting late in October, to visit as many of these yes different type things
- 21:48as they can, where have people come from Pennsylvania, Canada, Yeah,
- 21:56all over Florida, all over West Virginia, Vigia. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:02Yeah. I mean people and people that are into this sort of thing are
- 22:06really into this sort of thing too. I mean it's just like it like
- 22:07a sport or whatever. It's just it's just kind of your thing that you
- 22:11do. I mean, well you can't see it because it's on radio,
- 22:12but he's holding up his armshir, that are covered in uh uh, what
- 22:18explain some of your tech guys here. You've got silent heel, we got
- 22:21Michael Myers, Jason Krueger, leather face. So obviously this is something that
- 22:26you've been into. I'm I'm presuming since you were a kid, right,
- 22:29Amy, sir? What is it about that genre that appeals to you?
- 22:33Just like being scared? Yeah, I just like it. And I will
- 22:38say as you don't have an event like this and it's not going to be
- 22:41a success without the buy in of the communities. I mean, you know,
- 22:44you have these people that come from all different places, but you've got
- 22:47to have a lot of people that buy into this. Your sponsors and things
- 22:49like that. Talk about the response of the people in Saint Albans and the
- 22:52entire canal of Valley. Well, we're fortunate. We have about sixty to
- 22:56one hundred volunteers. We're all volunteer organization. Is a nice thing about it.
- 23:00I got a lot of spport from the communities, A lot of people
- 23:03just come might have fun with it. But we couldn't do without our staff.
- 23:07We've got a great staff. How many people does it take to put
- 23:08this on? We design it to have a minimal staff, but it takes
- 23:12the minimal staff about fifty to sixty people to make it very successful. Right,
- 23:17Yeah, it's it's like I said, I've done this on a very
- 23:21very much smaller scale, and it's and there's a whole lot of work that
- 23:23goes into it. And what people don't realize too, is that generally speaking,
- 23:27I mean doors open at what time? Doors open? We just opened
- 23:30took a book at seven and seven pm, okay, and we usually don't
- 23:33start tool guys, you'll get stark. Okay. So what happens is usually
- 23:37is about six fifty eight, something's not not something's not working. You know,
- 23:40this is not working properly, and you're working right up to and then
- 23:44working right up afterwards. I mentioned kids earlier, and I always have to
- 23:47ask these questions when we promote these things. Is there an age level that
- 23:52this is for? I mean, now, sometimes parents, you know,
- 23:55I've done interviews like this the past, and parents will say, well,
- 23:57I want to bring my eight year old? Is it okay for? Is
- 24:00it because some of these aren't necessarily age appropriate? Any age restrictions. No,
- 24:06there's no age restrictions. What we what we actually pride are I do.
- 24:10I pride myself in it. If you if you come up, if
- 24:14you bring your kids, so to say, and your kids seven eight years
- 24:18old, and they don't want to go here or she doesn't want to go
- 24:21through it, they get scared, We'll actually walk through them and turn the
- 24:23lights on for them. Okay. We have a lot of kids actually work
- 24:26there, no scares, just just so they can see everything. And then
- 24:30by the time they get through it, hey, let's let's try it with
- 24:33the lights off. Okay, All right, Well that's good that you do
- 24:37that. I mean, and you mentioned don that you have a lot of
- 24:40kids involved in Yeah, we have lots of children. I mean I have
- 24:44five children, four of them participate, my youngest and Jamie's kids was actually
- 24:48younger than mine. My youngest she was six years old the first year she
- 24:52worked. My oldest daughter who's now twenty three. Well wait twenty three,
- 24:55she was actually four when she started. So my kids have grown up in
- 24:59it and they love it. And now I asked Jamie about this, and
- 25:00Don I'll ask you about this. What is your fascination with this? Is
- 25:03this something like Jamie, that that you've liked since you were a kid,
- 25:07this whole genre of well, the scary world. I'm an old man here.
- 25:11Actually I got asked to do one my freshman year in college in nineteen
- 25:15eighty nine, eight, nineteen eighty seven. My apologies, and it's just
- 25:19kind of stuck with me ever since, and I've just been doing it,
- 25:22playing it and enjoying it. Love scaring people, helping people have fun.
- 25:26It's when you do a haunt, it's it's about the excitement and the fun
- 25:30of it. Right, we don't get paid or anything. It's just the
- 25:33enjoyment of it of just watching people experience their fears. And again, the
- 25:37price for admission, it's twelve dollars or ten dollars if you give a nonperishable
- 25:42food item so there's a charitable aspect that as well. And what do you
- 25:45do with the with the food ivans? They just go to various places or
- 25:48how to raise christ Kitchens and another local church food bank. Now do you
- 25:55guys when you have opportunity, and I know your time is pretty much limited,
- 25:59you know during from September through October? Uh? Yeah, Jamie's actually
- 26:03showed me a picture of the school. I'm actually familiar with the school.
- 26:07But do you guys get to go and visit any other ones in the area
- 26:10or do you have I mean, is it something that you try to do
- 26:11or do you just have to maybe go online and find one? I mean,
- 26:14how does that work? Because I know you probably get ideas from other
- 26:17places. No, you just don't have an opportunity to do that. We
- 26:19don't. I was gonna say, unless they did it, unless they did
- 26:23it in April. You probably wouldn't have an opportunity. If you go to
- 26:26like Myrtle Beach or if you go to Pigeon Fords, they run year round
- 26:30so and go through those Okay, but no, honestly, but I don't
- 26:34personally, I don't know about I don't just all have time to do that.
- 26:38We just kind of come up with that as I mean, if every
- 26:41year we changed as much as we can to the school, it's never the
- 26:44same thing twice. If we do use the same room twice, we just
- 26:45expand to it and makes it this makes it cooler. Well, and that's
- 26:51a really good point because if people went last year, we don't want them
- 26:55to say, well, I went last year and had a good time.
- 26:56But but there's there's something new every every year. Every year it's brand new.
- 27:02This year it's completely brand new. All right. I don't want to
- 27:03give away too much, but can you give us a hint on what so
- 27:07far, what you've had, what has been the biggest hit? I don't
- 27:10want to give away too much, but is there like a hint you can
- 27:11give us on what's been what's been the more popular thing, the scariest thing,
- 27:15the thing that people are talking about, the most two hit sticks in
- 27:18my moent the body bag room and the doorroom. Okay, the body bag
- 27:23room of the doorroom. Okay, so you don't say anything more than that
- 27:26swamp and the swamp. You got it. You guys got it all there.
- 27:30You guys got it all, Jamie and done. I appreciate you guys
- 27:32being here. Let me give you the details again, scared of view.
- 27:34And it's on High Street in Saint Albans, the Old School. Their prices
- 27:37are twelve dollars or ten dollars with a nonperishable food donation. And you'll be
- 27:42going. Let me say, I figure out what the date is, so
- 27:45you're going to want to give you these I can give some of your listeners
- 27:48a couple of passes. Okay, all right, well there you go,
- 27:52Ryan. Are we set up to do this? Can we give away a
- 27:55couple of passes here? All right? Tell you what we'll do? All

- 32:08Albans. Laura was calling number three one herself a couple of free passes to
- 32:14the big event in Saint Albans. It is called scare View. This is
- 32:16the house October built. I didn't get the tagline in the house that October
- 32:21built, and it's on High Street in St. Albans. Now again the
- 32:23dates. They'll be doing it Tomorrow night and also on Saturday night. Then
- 32:30they'll come back on Friday the thirteenth appropriate and then on Saturday the fourteenth,
- 32:34and also October twentieth, twenty first, twenty seventh, and twenty eighth.
- 32:37Laura Clark of Saint Albans calling number three one our self a couple of free
- 32:39passes. Curtsy' down, Jamie and folks here, So we appreciate them for
- 32:45tuning in. I was talking about the speeding on I sixty four earlier.
- 32:49Tex says Dave. We have no speed enforcement in West Virginia. We need
- 32:53much more police force. Wouldn't it be better to spend surplus on more law
- 32:59enforcement than the deal with rex road closures and deaths every day. I can
- 33:01tell you, as I said to somebody who drives I sixty four on a
- 33:05daily basis, that the cops are out there now. I don't know what
- 33:09the ratio is how many people that they pull over in the work zone,
- 33:13but again, most of these accidents that are being caused. And we had
- 33:16another year and maybe a month or so until that whole project is finished,
- 33:22and it's been going on I think, you know sometimes since the Carter administration,
- 33:25it seems like it's been going on for some time. Slow down.
- 33:30The speed limit is fifty five miles an hour, and that's on the perfect
- 33:35driving conditions. Okay, So if you have rain, which I think I
- 33:37saw the forecaster is going to be some rain in the morning commute, I'll
- 33:40promise you there's going to be accidents tomorrow. It's not fifty five when it's
- 33:45raining. Probably need to go a little slower then, because you got people
- 33:47merging. And I was talking to a friend of mine who's not from the
- 33:52area, and he actually sent me a text and was talking about driving he
- 33:57was going to visit his daughter, and he took I sixty four from southern
- 34:00West Virginia, but he took it I sixty four into the Huntings in Barbersville
- 34:02area, and he said, I was not prepared for that because he hadn't
- 34:07been on that road in some time. About how fast people drive through that
- 34:10construction zone, and he said, I opted to go back Route ten to
- 34:15southern West Virginia. So again, just slow down, all right. Speed
- 34:17limit is fifty five miles an hour through that area. Five eighty Live is
- 34:23brought to you in part by a general hardware and number of Windfield from kitchens
- 34:28to paint, to deck straight framing wood, roofing metal and anything else.
- 34:31You know you going to find a general hardware number of Windfield. All right.
- 34:35So Tex says I can't drive fifty five. I have a I'm not
- 34:40gonna be honest. I'm gonna be honest with you. I have a difficult
- 34:43time driving fifty five as well, but in that area you do need to
- 34:45drive fifty five. Okay. So you know me, I've done this show
- 34:52for over three years now, and as I was describing to someone the other
- 34:57night, I guess I must be doing something right because the liberals say I'm
- 35:00too conservative and the conservatives say I'm too liberal. I don't know. I
- 35:06just filled up with coffee and sarcasm and try to entertain you for an hour
- 35:09every day. But there is something that was on my mind. And you
- 35:15know, I do these things from time to time I call davittorials where I
- 35:19just kind of wax somewhat poetically on things, and I want you to kind
- 35:25of hear me out on this one. Okay, earlier this, I guess
- 35:32late last week, earlier this week, they started publicizing that there was going
- 35:37to be this emergency alert system test yesterday. It's nothing new. These tests
- 35:45are done every two to three years, and it was started they started publicizing
- 35:52it. I guess, as I said last week, that it was coming
- 35:55at around two twenty yesterday afternoon, so people had plenty of time to prepare
- 36:00for it. This comes through ees Emergency Alert System formerly known as Emergency Broadcast
- 36:07System and FEMA they're a part of this as well, and it goes through
- 36:12your cell phones. They said it would last several minutes. The one I
- 36:15got lasted about ten seconds of even that well publicized that it was going to
- 36:22happen. It was all over the news, in the newspapers, online.
- 36:25We talked about it yesterday. I reminded you of it. It was on
- 36:28our websites. This test, as I said, is done every three years,
- 36:35and in this case, was actually done within a two year timeframe.
- 36:37The last one was being done in August of twenty twenty one. So yes,
- 36:42mister and Missus America in tenfoil hatware, this exact thing happened in August
- 36:46of twenty twenty one. But somehow you forgot about it. Okay, that's
- 36:49fine, I get it. We're all busy. But what got me was
- 36:54the things I was reading online about this test yesterday by seemingly normal people.
- 37:06I mean, one would think one of the ones I read said that the
- 37:13test would only be given to those who had chosen not to have the COVID
- 37:16vaccine, or ones that were hardcore Donald Trump supporters. Now you think I'm
- 37:24trying to be funny, but these are actual statements that I read online prior
- 37:30to the tone, which by the way, did not signal the return of
- 37:34Jesus Christ or the return of the White House of Donald Trump or anything like
- 37:37that. I read one statement from a young mother, seemingly a bright,
- 37:43intelligent, non crazy mother who said, quote, no way, I'm sending
- 37:49my kids to school with that alarm thing going off. I'll do a long
- 37:55sigh and a pause here for dramatic purposes. Ryan America, we have to
- 38:00do better. We are the greatest country on God's green earth. But why
- 38:07in twenty twenty three do we choose to believe in the hoaxes, Internet untruths
- 38:16and the like ones that ten years ago we would have laughed at ten twenty
- 38:23years ago we would have laughed at these things, but now we take them
- 38:30as the gospel. COVID was not a hoax, the vaccine is not killing
- 38:36millions of people. Trump didn't win. I mean, do we need to
- 38:40go on here and doing my own research? Air quotes doesn't cut it.
- 38:46If your research results tell you that a simple test of the Emergency Broadcast System
- 38:54and FEMA, the Emergency Broadcast System which has been a part of our collective
- 39:00lives since nineteen sixty three. And by the way, if your research tells
- 39:07you that what we call in the business as an EES test is going to
- 39:10emit some sort of bacteria that will ensure that you die from something that was
- 39:14an actual statement too, is that that test was going to emit a bacteria.
- 39:21I'm not quite sure how that works with a phone, but it was
- 39:23going to emit a bacteria. So if your research tells you that, you
- 39:30might want to go to another search engine and you may want to turn off
- 39:35Newsmacs, maybe read the Bible or something. America, we we just got
- 39:39to do better. We got to do better and stop believing this stuff.
- 39:45Just stop. All right, let me knock out some texts here, because
- 39:51you know that's going to give you a few Texas day THEES signal activated,
- 39:58my vaccinated and now I'm ready five G energy, says a Texter. It
- 40:06was executing order number sixty six. This is a Texter Texas yesterday the test
- 40:12exposed people that you think are normal for mean absolutely not normal. What's wrong
- 40:16with people? I'm just gonna say, you're all idiots in fools. That
- 40:21was a Texter that said that. By the way, that wasn't Dave that
- 40:23said that. Tex says the only place in the state, going back to
- 40:30speeding, the only place in the state where the speed limit is actually in
- 40:32forts is Somersville. Yeah, o, Sanna, maybe another one if you
- 40:37travel through the Wyoming County community of Oceanna. If it's speed limit is thirty
- 40:42five, don't do thirty six because because you will get a ticket. Text
- 40:47says, dear day, the world is waiting to know. Are you a
- 40:50lights on or a lights off kind of guy? Are we still talking about
- 40:54haunted houses here? I'm talking about the haunted houses? Okay, that I
- 40:58should have said. The textra sid, I'm talking about honted houses. Get
- 41:01your mind out of the gutter. That's what the texture said. And I'll
- 41:07be honest with you, I'm not. I mean, with all due respect
- 41:09to Don and Jamie and those guys who do a fantastic job in the various
- 41:12ones, It's it's not my thing. I'm not a hounted house kind of
- 41:15guy. I'm not a scary movie kind of guy. Not that I'm afraid
- 41:17of them. I just just doesn't interest me, even as a kid,
- 41:21and it never really interests me. I'm like the only kid in the world
- 41:22that couldn't care less about trick or treating because I just just just wasn't something
- 41:27that that appealed to me. Five Indy Lives brought to you part by your

- 44:59love to talk about driving, text says Hey Dave, texting from Florida this
- 45:02morning, it's the same crap here and rex every day. It's speed,
- 45:07cell phones, et cetera. You can land the Space Shuttle on the road
- 45:10since they're so straight, but still recks everywhere. According to a text Texas
- 45:20Dave, after hearing about another child being hit by car, I've been wondering
- 45:23why we don't allow school buses to move to the center of roads and pick
- 45:28up and drop off kids. Yes, crossing double lines. A friend of
- 45:30mine in Illinois said they have done that where she lives for a long time.
- 45:36My question to that would be, don't disagree, But my question that
- 45:37would be kids still ride school buses. I mean, based on what I
- 45:42encounter every morning. I didn't know kids ride road school buses anymore. I
- 45:49want to throw this out there, and I've talked about a little bit in
- 45:51the past. You're invited to attend a big party PA R Dash Tee benefiting

- 46:51totally in the gutter. That probably says a lot about me. I think
- 46:52that had to do with the texture that asked if I was a light lights

- 47:00like, well, that's a heck of a question for this hour. According

- 47:36I wasn't a fan of it, I believe it or not. As much
- 47:39as I love to eat, I'm not a big sweets eater or candy eater

- 47:47if they were handing out like you know, Hickory Farms gift packs, yeah,
- 47:51it'd be all about that. Texas people just don't blindly trust anything anymore,
- 47:55especially after watching countless conspiracy theories being proven to be true. Into a
- 48:00text Texas David. I recently traveled to Cincinnati through Kentucky and returned through Ohio.
- 48:05I saw seventeen police units in Kentucky and Ohio, but not one in
- 48:08West Virginia. Tex says children in Canawh County ride buses. It must be
- 48:15different out there in posh Putnam County. I do see some buses. I
- 48:19do see a few, but I think it's not a Putnam County thing.
- 48:22I mean, I started seeing this years ago when I was still living in
- 48:24Logan County, that for some reason, kids just don't seem to ride the
- 48:27bus anymore. I mean, I mean, and as a taxpayer, it
- 48:30kind of pisses me off, and I go, Lie, I'm like,
- 48:32take the buses off the road if the kids aren't going to ride them.
- 48:36So I want to throw this out of here too. I had a conversation
- 48:38with an old friend of mine this morning. In fact, we went to
- 48:40high school together, and you may have heard Hoppy and Brad talking about him
- 48:45astually. His name is David McCormick, and he's a businessman in Morgantown,
- 48:47has an office here in Charleston as well, and he's involved with this political
- 48:53with a political action committee which is called Move Forward West Virginia. Now.
- 49:00The group held a good natorial forum a couple of nights ago at Lakeview in
- 49:04Morgantown. Secretary of State Mac Warner, Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, Otto Magnate,
- 49:08Chris Miller, and Deligamore Capito all took part in that. And I'm
- 49:12told I wasn't there, didn't see it, but I'm told by people that
- 49:15did attend that it was actually very very cordial, which is the nature of
- 49:22a forum as opposed to an actual debate which may or may not happen.
- 49:25I'm hearing that it could possibly happen. Gets still early though, And I'll
- 49:30say this about David McCormick, I adn't talked to him many years, so
- 49:34so I reached out to him about coming on the air, and he's going
- 49:36to be on the show next Tuesday. And one of the things in talking
- 49:40to him, and again we go way back, we went to high school
- 49:43together. But one of the things I liked in talking to talking to him
- 49:47about this group. And I haven't had a chance to really research them greatly.
- 49:51I'm just basing it on our conversation that we had. This group called
- 49:53move Forward. One of the things I like about it is it's a political
- 49:58action committee that is strictly related to business issues, meaning they don't get into
- 50:06arguments about abortion or any other social issues, the hot button issues. It's
- 50:13strictly business, business, roads, infrastructure, etc. And I kind of
- 50:22like that. Again, I'm not doing an endorsement of the group because I
- 50:24don't know enough about him other than they I have conversation I had with mister
- 50:28McCormick this morning. He'll be on the air top of the show on Tuesdays
- 50:30talk about it. I know Mike Nolting of Metro News did an interview with
- 50:34him. I heard Chris plain some of that this morning. Hoppy and Brad
- 50:37reference to me yesterday. But it's a business political group and they're not focused
- 50:42at all on social issues. I like it, and they're doing pretty well,
- 50:46they got behind seven candidates in the twenty twenty two election, and five
- 50:52of the seven one. Now, I didn't ask mister McCormick who, if
- 50:54anyone they're going to support for governor. There'll be plenty of time for that,
- 50:58letters I said. I'm happy though, to hear of a political group
- 51:01that's staying away from social issues focus on what matters jobs, roads, broadband,
- 51:06infrastructure, etc. I'm all on board, and as I said,
- 51:08not an endorsement of the group. I certainly, I certainly do the endorse
- 51:13their basic idea of what they're talking about, as far as staying out of
- 51:16people's personal lives and focusing on things that truly matter to all of us.
- 51:21Roads, jobs, infrastructure, taxes, things of that nature. I'm a
- 51:25man of many opinions that full of opinions, or well full of something.
- 51:30Texas big Gym said he would fix the speeding in construction enough. Well,
- 51:35I don't know that any one person can do that, despite what he may
- 51:37who said Texas Day. Since it has been found that those evil parents were
- 51:40from Washington State, are there any checkings in if there were reports on them
- 51:45back here? Wouldn't be surprised at all all right, we got to go.
