[upbeat rock music] Once upon a time,
0:17
three gentlemen sat around the table at a socially distant distance, making a podcast for your ears. Hey, everybody. This is Full Spectrum Cycling number 57. 57? 57.
0:36
Q57. Chad, not yet. [laughs] Nope. God willing, I'll make it to 57 in July. Sister didn't make it to 56, though. Yeah, that is a bummer, man. Yeah. So sorry. Sorry about that. Sister passed away, folks. Super bummer.
0:53
Love that girl. Give her a little shout-out on the podcast love. Yeah, absolutely. [upbeat rock music] Um, so today we got, uh, JK in the studio. Hello, hello. Got Tony Burger over yonder. Hello.
1:05
As far away as the, uh- No, I'm not-... audio-audio- Look at how much further I can go... oh, the Audio Technica cord can go. There we go. I'm still going. Oh, that's about, uh- Still-...
1:14
that's a good s- 15 feet, 12 feet. That- that's, yeah, probably 12 plus. A solid 12 feet right there. Solid 12 feet. Yeah, but your hydration station is so far away from you.
1:22
Yeah, now you're gonna have to come back in to the... [laughs] Uh-huh. Best laid plans, brother. Yep, yep. [laughs] Mm-hmm. I'm willing to risk it for beer. [laughs] Well, we got a little bit of a late start today.
1:33
I hope nobody called in. Probably not. [laughs] Probably there's probably no danger- But if they did, call back. There's no danger of that probably, but, uh, um, [smacks lips] we had a couple of folks in, uh,
1:44
looking at fat bikes. Kind of crazy. Fat bikes, it seems like this is fat bike season now. It's been very [chair scraping] fat bike busy lately. Our buddy Sam picked a, himself up a Wyatt Maverick fat bike.
1:58
It's very sexy. Very nice. His, brought his buddy in today to look at another one. Ugh. And, uh, it's- Out of the way... a good three of the titanium Chumba fat bike frames are making their way out of the shop, so
2:13
I think all we've got left is an extra large, I believe. One. One. If you snooze it, you lose it- Yeah... is apparently the-the theory there. And you're super tall. And you...
2:23
Well, then you would still have at least one left to- Yeah. I have an actual- There's a couple boxes in the back. I think those are road frames, though. They're not, um, fat bike frames. Titanium road frames? No. Oh.
2:36
No, we don't have any of those yet.
2:38
Although, I was drooling over the Terlingua from Chumba the other day, thinking that we have too many titanium mountain bikes and/or fat bikes in here, and not enough road representation.
2:52
So that might, uh, be on the plate for later in the year. That said, we got a lot of these, uh, Zen AR45 frames, which are growlers in Schlick parlance, but those are- Those could be good road frames.
3:04
Those are kickass frame. I would only get titanium 'cause I like the color, and my shop needs more Ti bikes in it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Our shop, to be fair. To be fair. To be fair.
3:22
[laughs] This is the people's shop. Oh, geez. Actually, right now it's the bikes' shop. They have taken over this place- Yeah, there is a lot of-... for crying out loud... freaking bikes in the shop right now, Gregory.
3:30
Well, there's a lot of people wanting to get their bikes ready for the coming season, and I have a hard time saying no, but pretty soon the shop is just gonna say no- No way [laughs]...
3:39
'cause it's gonna belch these out the front door and say, "No- "Come get your bike... more bikes." [laughs] Plus, we gotta get the stereo hooked up. Stereo- And it's, and it's, it's home...
3:47
stereo's hooked up, but it's not, uh- Right. It sounds great, but it's gotta be pleasantly stacked. Yeah, it needs to be off the floor for one thing. [laughs] Yeah. Was that... That was after the podcast. When was that?
3:58
Oh, we were here after a ride or something and- Uh, the speaker fell off- We were [laughs]... last week after the podcast... we were... These are, these are ELAC, um, Debut 5.2s or whatever.
4:07
They're nice speakers and- See the speaker notes... they were rock- [laughs] Yeah, see them in the speaker notes. [laughs] They were rocking...
4:12
We were rocking so hard, one of them vibrated itself off the speaker stand [laughs] Oh, hell yeah...
4:16
and fell face first onto the floor, and, uh, fortunately it had its grill on, so the actual drivers didn't get damaged, but the grill took, took the brunt- Oof...
4:26
brunt of the blow, like- Speaker also did not miss a beat. [laughs] Did not. [laughs] It kept right on going. Right. It's like, "I'm no, I'm..." That's like, uh, it's like your teeth when you get into a fight.
4:33
Yeah, drunken fat boy. They take- Fat boy... they take the brunt of the fist. It's sort of the same thing. [laughs] Um, yeah. Boy, uh, you know, it's nice listening to vinyl again. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I kinda wish...
4:47
You guy... I- I saw JK's been on Kim West's show, uh, from, uh, time to time, watching on the 10:15 in the Central Standard Time Zone, uh, internet coffee shop, cafe coffee shop. It is.
5:00
He seems to almost always have a, uh, stout for breakfast, a breakfast stout. [laughs] Nice. Well, they are breakfast stouts, after all. Yep. Um- I was going to shout out because he did a, the Muddy Waters, uh, little
5:15
inform, info, you know, where The Stones came up and played with, with Muddy Waters, and that was a really great one. I bet Muddy was thrilled as fuck to have The Stones up there. They, um, they- I, no-...
5:27
weren't anyone at the time, but yeah... maybe sarcasm doesn't work on the radio. Yeah. [laughs] But he's probably like, "Oh, them damn boys doing up there." Yeah. [laughs] "They're playing my music, damn it."
5:37
Um, so one thing that I wish would happen in Kim's show, though, is that I could play the audio that he's playing through my stereo system [laughs] while I'm listening- Oh, right. Yeah...
5:47
to the show, 'cause he's been playing some good stuff. Mm-hmm. That's a great idea.
5:50
Eh, if you get, if you get bored and it's 10:15 in the morning and you're wondering what the heck to do, I'd, I'd ki- I'd check out Kim West Radio. Mm-hmm. Cy- It's...
5:59
Well, it's not on the Radio Cycling Show page, but it's his Kim West page. I think we're up to 30, 30 listeners. Wow. Was it? Not today, but- Oh... recently. Like last Friday, I think. Wow.
6:11
So watch Kim and, uh, hey, what do, what do you folks think about, uh, JK and, uh, Tony and I doing this Facebook livey? I was kinda wondering since, you know- Well, I see it...
6:22
could we, could we just set s- we could set something up and then somebody could be the, the watcher of comments- Oh, dude. Yeah... and the, and the wagger of fingers. Yeah. [laughs] Hey, look at that mask JK's got.
6:38
[laughs] Oh, is that the one my daughter made you? It is. Nice. So- And I finally dialed it in, so it works correctly. Oh, good Not, not with the cans on, but- Right, right. Okay. Yeah. So I, um, let me grab this one.
6:51
[clears throat] But I can't drink my beer with it on. I've, I've kinda been on a mask buying spree just to see how people do 'em.
7:00
Uh, the one I'm holding, I'll have a picture of it in the show notes, is, uh, made by a local lady, um, Dan Kubinski hipped me to her. He's, uh, the singer from Dekreigson- Yo... back in the olden days.
7:13
Um, and now in Go Go Slow, which is another kick-ass band. So this nice lady on the south side makes them.
7:18
You s- you Venmo her the money, pick out a k- a, a fabric, which this is kick-ass black and white ghosty thing or peppers. I don't what all those things are. But it looked cool, so I took it.
7:30
And, um, she makes it for you and says they're ready, and there's a little bin on her porch, and you pick it up out of the bin and go on your merry way, and you never physically interact. Yeah.
7:38
But that was kinda cool, and she has a neat D-ring kind of an arrangement- Oh, yeah... on there, kinda like a motorcycle helmet strap to do the tensioning of the thing.
7:49
And bonus, you'll see in the photo, this thing covers my entire beard. It just doesn't make for good radio talking. No, it's not too... Yeah, it's a little muffled. Yeah. A little muffled. Yeah.
7:59
Honestly, that's why I'm taking mine off. I think I have mine in my mouth. Yeah, you do. So anyway, so she's- We have to enunciate a little bit crisper- So our-... and you won't have to worry about spittling.
8:10
So yeah, our, well, our buddy Dave Puck's sister Ruth made the nice gesture of sending her favorite bike shop a, a nice little Venmo treat, and I used some of that Venmo treat to buy this mask locally, which I thought was a nice way to turn some stuff around.
8:26
She's so cool. That's... Thank you, Ruth. You're the best. You've got, you've got free- You're better than Puck... free labor. Yeah, Puck. I like to say, "Fuck that Puck." [laughs] Um, so, um- I'd rather not...
8:39
but I've also kinda been perusing for cycling-oriented businesses that are also making masks, and not, like, huge ones like Kitsbow's doing a really big thing, and they're doing a bunch of 'em and blah, blah, blah.
8:52
But some of the places that make bags, like North Street, Swerve with their clothing, um, Ove Negra. O- Oy, Oy [laughs] I am very bad at saying black sheep in Spanish. Ove. Ovia, Ovia Negra. Oh, I had it before.
9:09
[laughs] O-V-A-J-A. Say it with me. Ovia. Whatever. There you go. Those guys, Andrew the Maker, um, ORU Case, all these folks are making masks, and I have links into the show notes for you to check them out.
9:24
A lot of them are very limited production because of their ability to produce, but they all have slightly different designs, and if we're gonna be going through this either for a longer time now or in the future at some-
9:36
Be prepared... distant date, having these things on hand wouldn't be a bad call. And you're supporting United States businesses making United States products in the United States of United America States. Team America.
9:49
America. Team- America. America. [laughs] Tremendous Team America. Fuck yeah. [laughs] So yeah, check out those links.
9:59
I think any of them seemed to be pretty well thought out, and I'm just kind of waiting to see the execution. But I mean, we know the bags from these folks.
10:07
They're all good things and- Yeah, they're, they're- I, I can't believe that making a simple mask could be any harder than making a kick-ass frame bag or some nice pants for your butt. Exactly.
10:16
So you're gonna wanna go ahead and, uh, check those out. Chicken butt. Hey, today is 4/22, but, um, what was Monday? It's four... It was four- Earth Day. 4/22. Oh, it's 4/20 also. Too. 4/22. Oh, so Earth Day is 4/22.
10:31
Two. Huh. [laughs] Yeah, I kinda missed that, but I, I knew that from previous years, and then it just escaped me. [laughs] So 4/20. Boy, wait, Zito and I did a nice little roll around town 4/20 day- Nice... thing.
10:47
I, uh- Yeah. I did the, uh, the Code Monkeys viewing. Ate, ate like I gluttonously [laughs] went through jelly bean Jelly Bellies. Oh. Sour worms. Yeah, it was a, it was a cavalcade of... I'm like, "Why not? Why not?
11:04
Why not?" And then on an interesting downer note, not even downer, just annoying note, uh, I had the cops come to my damn house. Again? [laughs] Yeah. Uh, do they like just visiting or- No, no.
11:19
This was a another neighborly dispute. It wasn't 'cause Kim w- had a missing puzzle piece and they had to go try and locate the- No, no... the 500th piece of the 499-piece puzzle? No.
11:31
This was the doofus getting up on, on my porch as I was having a smoke so he could put up a little sign by the number that says side door, which makes no damn sense or whatever. People are d- grown-ass adults.
11:45
[clears throat] But all the same, I was done with my smoke and he wasn't done doing whatever arts and crafts he was on my porch, and so the front door was open and he was in my way, so he did a little tumbly- [laughs]
11:58
... on the porch. Uh. Uh-oh. Which he consequently then gave the- Called the police and said you were, you were assaulting him... yeah. I was like, "Assault or whatever." So did you get an assault charge? No. Hell no.
12:09
[laughs] I mean, how? Did he trip over his shoelace? Yeah. For crying out loud I mean, just the doofus. What the hell? That's just, what a waste of- Yeah... precious time Well, if it weren't- Do it-...
12:18
for being such a kick-ass location, I would- Yeah... y- I would... Well, you should just do something to get him moved the hell out of there. [laughs] Yeah, it's a, yeah, it's- It- It does, it's not gonna take much.
12:27
[laughs] Yeah. I'm just saying that. There's a, a- Yep... it was a buzzkill for a part of that 420, but- Even before 420, we all did a ride on 418. Yeah. 418. There's a lot of- The wind, the, the gusty- Every time Oh.
12:42
We call that the, the, that was a gusty, gusty Saturday. That was 419 as well. [laughs] Was it? It was- Oh, that's right. You guys went on 19. Yeah, so it was definitely a big wind out of the,
12:52
big wind out of the south on Saturday, and a big wind out of the north on Sunday. Yeah. I mean, we're talking, like, 35, 40 miles an hour. Mm-hmm. It was not a joke. It was wind. Yeah.
13:02
And unfortunately, as you probably well know, unless you live in Iowa, where there's not a whole lot out there in the western half to block the wind, and you can get a good tailwind going, it doesn't just come from one direction.
13:12
It comes from all over the place. Oh, yeah. Kicking on the side most of the- Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh. Still a good ride, though. I mean- Well, hell. Good ride... got a lot of miles in. Good ride.
13:19
Went f- went way down, way down south. Yeah. That was a good day. Any, uh, any day on a bike's a good day, but that was a good day. Yeah, it's really. Yeah, it was, yeah. That was a good... We should do that again.
13:30
Had a couple of adult beverages and kept a safe distance. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Saw neighbor Sean. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Got, got the bridge shot. Did, uh, uh, Kim's daughter's, uh, residency [laughs] tour- Tour. Yeah...
13:44
of the Bayview- Yeah... and Tippecanoe, St. Francis zone. [laughs] It was a good time. And there- It was like, okay, and there. And wow. You know, I'm not even in the lead here. [laughs] This is just incidental.
13:56
This is hilarious. I understand that, uh, Rushmore Record Store has a scavenger hunt going on. I did- Oh... see something about that. Like to- Have the-... learn a little more.
14:07
Apparently, it, it's a Bayview things, you know? Yeah. It is. So, so it's, like, a Bayview thing. Ah. So Bayview, I heard, is like LA. Is that like LA down there? Uh... That's... Well, we're San Francisco here- Yeah...
14:17
in River West, and they're LA down there in, uh- Well, we're digressing-... Bayview... into everything... and then there's Vacaville in between. Yeah. So that would be...
14:24
[laughs] I, I, I just have to because time's running out, people. Time's running out to get yourself a Babymaker. Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba. Wait, still? And I... Yes, it's still.
14:36
I, and I'm gonna say this every week because I think it's gonna go on for, like, months yet, but I was not aware of the fact that not only can you get a Babymaker, you can get a Babymaker Pro. Oh.
14:47
Does that have more battery power? No, it's got disc brakes. Oh, right. Right on. But- I think you're doing more for Babymaker sales than just about anyone. They should start- Yeah... sending checks your way.
14:57
[laughs] I, that would be fine, but it don't- If they have an affiliate program, we should, uh- No, I don't wanna be associated-... sign up for that...
15:02
with somebody that came up with the idea of naming a bike the Babymaker. I saw the buff woman riding the bike. I hadn't- Yeah, that's just ridiculous... I had not seen that before, but that's- Yeah...
15:08
a blatantly buff woman. Yeah, that's, you know. I, I guess. I don't know. They're, they're- No helmet... they're from California. That's total model. I've never ridden a bike up until, you know.
15:19
She seemed a little sketchy on it. Yeah. It, it... Anyway. But at least there's one Babymaker in that photo. [laughs] Yeah. But what gets you to the pro level is what I wanna know.
15:31
I mean, how many babies do you have to make to get to pro? I got two. Oh, see. Semi-pro. Maybe you're semi-pro. [laughs] You know? Yeah. You got one in one, which is- Yeah... kinda like- Half pro? I don't know.
15:45
It's, uh, minor league? S- chime in in the comments. What, what makes you a real Babymaker? [laughs] By cracky, I, I just don't know.
15:54
So I finally had a conversation with Chris from The Psychic Derailer, which is a bike shop down in Indianapolis. Mm-hmm.
16:04
And he is doing, or has been doing for a good year and a half, basically an appointment-only bike shop. And I had heard about the shop, I think from Aaron Domeier from Surly,
16:16
and had wanted to talk to Chris for quite a while, 'cause being a small shop, I'm not opposed to this idea of being by appointment for the vast majority of the work we do, and wanted to touch base with him and see how it was going.
16:29
And I, he, he, he owned a 9,000 square foot big bike shop for 16 years, and has been working in the business for a long, long time before that.
16:40
And so he's been there and done that as far as the big shops go, and thought if he couldn't do it the way he wanted to do it now, he just wouldn't be doing it anymore, so. Yeah. He seems to think it's going okay.
16:54
I'm, I'm, I'm interested in the model because with how current COVID, you know, shutdown stuff is going on- And how it might be last... we are by appointment only, and by cracky, [laughs] we're having a great month.
17:06
People are, you know, they're making appointments, they're coming in. They're purposefully showing up at the shop- Right... and, and either shooting the shit or talking business or buying stuff. Um, and I like it.
17:19
I, I'm not sure that we're gonna go back to a traditional open the doors up- Yeah... for 80 hours a week and have people walk through the door. I, I agree with that.
17:25
I'm not sure that's gonna be the way that, uh, it will work. I, I have this new vision. I, I've had this vision before, I think I probably said it on the radio, of a bike shop with no bikes in it. You have.
17:35
[laughs] But, uh, I have a new idea. You may have said it on this show before. I think I've said it on this show.
17:39
So we have the, we have the big warehouse space up the street, and my theory here now is to have the vast majority of the bikes up there, nicely displayed, not just randomly put into the warehouse like they are now,
17:53
and use the very small retail shop as a kind of a gateway. Meet and greet? Kind of a meet and greet. Yeah. Oh. Oh, you wanna l- oh, well, we can- What kind of bikes you thinking about? Let me see...
18:04
we got those right down- Yeah... let's, let's just take a little ride over there- Yeah... on our electric, uh, you know- Sure... rental bikes or whatever. Yeah. See what's going on over there.
18:12
That sounds like a- Far and away... it sounds like a great idea- My beautiful... or a bait and switch. I can't tell... my beautiful lady [laughs] Oh, I don't know.
18:20
I just, I'm, I'm f- I, I would like to be able- Guess we-... to teleport because then we could- Yeah...
18:24
have, have really cheap space that's big somewhere besides here, and then you just teleport there and you're good to go. Hot air balloon That'd be like- You know what's almost as good as teleporting?
18:32
An electric bike Yeah, I agree with that. They're kinda like teleporting- Yeah... 'cause you go twice as fast. Yeah. It's not the speed of light, but it's- It's, it's-... it's good... fast. It's fast.
18:42
I did order up a couple of kits. Yeah. Tony's all excited 'cause one of them's gonna go on his bike. That's right. What color is it? We're, we're... What? What color? What do you mean what color? Electric colored.
18:53
[laughs] Electric... It's electric colored. It's, um, all, all electron-y looking. Uh- I think the hubs are black, actually... oh, shit. [laughs] So I don't know that they give you a choice on the hub color, actually.
19:06
They do. They do. Not- That's what I was wondering. Do they? Yeah. I don't think so. Black, black or silver. I'd like to disagree with you. Okay. You might be able to do that somewhere else, but- Oh, okay.
19:14
Grin's got 'em as... Oh, sorry. You know, they...
19:16
The, so the thing I like about Grin, if you're looking for e-bike stuff and you're not in our local area, or if you are, is that just about everything they sell, while other people sell a similar product, they have made improvements to.
19:30
So when you see a hub motor that they have, they have said, "Well, that's pretty good hub motor, but it'd be even better if you did this." And then the company, Bafang or whoever, does it for them. Yeah.
19:41
Same thing with their controllers. You know, they make their own high-end controller, but their, their kinda base-level controllers are, you know, firmware that they develop, and they go, "Bam, that's what we want." Yep.
19:54
Who's sneaking in there? Look like freaking James right there. Yeah. Yeah. Freaking James got his guitar. Hippies are not allowed in the store. Oh, no. JK is gonna have to go let the hippie James out.
20:04
Ah, the hippie James. Actually, he's not the true hippie James. The true hippie James I saw on voting day over by Riverside High School. Oh? Which, by the way, how many- Has he got corona yet?...
20:13
Dad, how many corona cases have you heard from all the poor people that had to go out there- 19... and brave the- 19. Yeah, that, that's crack shits right there, folks... lock that door there, hippie.
20:22
Yeah, that, that is, that is exactly- And watch out, and watch out for the turntable with your guitar there, crackhead. Goddammit. [laughs] Um, so yeah, so all these people- Yeah...
20:33
can't vote by mail because I think- Their ballot didn't arrive on time... right. In Fox Point, they got returned to the city hall, 1,000, uh, lots of 'em. I don't know if it was thousands. Hundreds anyway, though.
20:45
Anyway, so these folks can't go, uh, absentee ballot because of the COVID business, and they go stand in line. Normally Milwaukee has close to 200 polling places. They had five. Yep.
20:56
So people wait in line for hours, and we... Uh, something like, what is it? I mean, I heard seven, but it's higher now. I heard it was n- 17 or 19 today now confirmed. That have- But they don't know if they can...
21:06
They did not definitively trace them back, but they suspect- Some they have, I think, and so- Yeah, they have, they suspect... bunch of fuckery is what it was. Yeah.
21:14
I think, a- and again, I'm sorry- Speaking of fuckery, James just showed up... I, um- Hello... I- Hello... I honestly think that this should be y- you should be able to sue or, or at least...
21:27
No, you should be able to sue certain individuals that allowed in-person voting to happen. Well, they're suing governors who are trying to keep the state closed longer, so why not? I mean, you should be able to sue.
21:37
And this is, this is America, damn it. You should be able to sue- But sue someone, sue someone's lives... you should be able to sue anyone you want... who, who, you know, and, and they do.
21:45
Um- That's what lawyers are for... that, that coffee was hot. Um- Yeah, you dumb... Never mind. Yeah. Anyway. Don't put it in your lap again. Let's stop digressing.
21:52
We're talking about- I'm just trying to get lawyers more work, like they don't have enough already. Yeah, exact- Can you imagine the, the m- pile of shit that's gonna come up after this thing is over- I know...
22:01
and how many lawsuits there are gonna be? I cannot even- Lawyers are gonna be busy. You know what? This is time for an overhaul of the legal system, time for an overhaul of the cri- of the climate system.
22:10
It's a time for overhaul. A time for overhauls. Time for an overhaul of that... Is that Wyatt? Over, over y'all. Hey, look at that Wyatt up there. No, that, uh- It's that, I see a bell there...
22:20
that, I see that bell there. Wait. We- I gotta overhaul the bell. [bell rings] Yeah. Top of the hill. Took a long time to get here today, folks. Yeah, it sure did. We were, we had a headwind.
22:27
It's that one from- Yeah, it took us a whole beer to get to the top of the hill. Yeah. It's that, it's that one from Saturday that we didn't, uh, get out of.
22:33
But, um, we had so many beers today that I- Can you believe, mother? Thank you... I d- I, we're gonna have to defer a couple of the beers to next show. I don't- Oh, sure. This is Black Husky, I think. Yeah?
22:44
This is Black Husky. We had Tim on the show couple weeks ago. If you people didn't listen to that show- Go back and listen to it. It's pretty great...
22:51
I recommend out of all the shows we've done, it's one of the top five for sure. Um- Aww... don't trip on my p- Look at the cars... my, my, my mou- look at my mouse. My mouse is so wonderful. It's a Logitech
23:04
MARATHON M720, that can control three- Three... not, not two, but three computers... three. Not at once, but at least you can shift between 'em. You have, um, three different USB dongles that attach to- I don't.
23:17
It's Bluetooth. It's Bluet- Two... oh, it's the Bluetooth. That said, I gotta be honest, I love the Logitech dongle. That thing is like- It's, the universal dongle's fantastic device... it's the best thing in the world.
23:27
It- Let's not nerd talk. This is not a nerd- As little latency as there is in Bluetooth, there is none in, in the dongle- Right... as far as I know. That thing's cheesy. It just feels better.
23:37
It's the one thing Tony and I agree on- And-... in the tech world- I know, in the tech world for sure... is freaking the- The Logitech directional- L- Logitech [laughs]... dongle... dongle.
23:46
The one thing I gotta give it shit for, though, is they don't have a USB-C version yet, so- Oh... you have to have this stupid little cord to plug it into the USB-C.
23:56
Or in my case, Thunderbolt 3, which by the way, is better than USB-C. And back to bikes. [laughs] Yeah. Hey, we nerd about bikes, we nerd about computers. Yeah. Yeah.
24:08
Mike was nerding about music before and Code Monkeys and- Kind of excited about the, uh- 420... the e-bike- 420... that's gonna have very little computer requirement. So did I get through my psychic derailleur thing-
24:18
Uh, him being-... with Chris? Just, just that he has a similar model. And best thing is he's gonna be on the show either next week or the week after. Nice. I'm not sure which one yet.
24:26
But if you get a chance, maybe do a little, a pre- previewing of his YouTube channel. He's- He, he's not quite a Grant Peterson, but he ain't far behind.
24:36
So he's got a lot of ideas about stuff and, um, very entertaining and, and I, I say go see The Psychic Derailer on the YouTube or go to their website, thepsychicderailer.com or, or don't. Okay. Out.
24:50
I don't really care, but I'm just saying you should You should care. So we- I don't know what you care about... so we have The Top of the Hill, and this Black Husky is? Uh, it is- You're so vain... Vain at- So vain...
25:03
7.2%. So, uh- That's so vain... I don't know. So do you think in their various- You think that this beer is about you... they've had Vain before. Yes. And they've had it for a while. Vain is a regular carry, yep.
25:14
Do you think it's always the same or do you think each batch is just slightly different? Like somebody threw- I'd be disappointed if it wasn't slightly different 'cause that's big beer then.
25:22
Did you have that- That's macro... were you at the Vain in, uh, in, uh- Yeah, I-... 2021 when that, that Va- that batch was really good, and I- Oh, it was extra strong...
25:30
I remember, remember those guys- Well, beer- It's like being at, it's like being a Deadhead. You have to have every- Yeah, that's every batch... every batch. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay.
25:36
Like the, uh, De Krootzen, uh, Pumpkin Porter, where that thing clocked in at, uh- Way more than they said, 'cause isn't that where I fell off the chair? Yeah, beautifully.
25:46
So- Is there a sign about that, like right there? [laughs] Yes, indeed. Oh, yeah, I have one in the shop from the, yep, the Pumpkin Porter. Yeah. From down here at the- I, I had invited people, and they were...
25:55
I don't know. They didn't listen to everything I said and what I was speaking of. And it wasn't, "Oh, man, I thought De Krootzen was gonna be playing." And it's like, no, I would be... I would have led with that.
26:08
First of all, I wouldn't tell you so I can hog 'em all to myself. Yeah. [laughs] But yeah, that was an epic [laughs] high, high octane, high octane. But yeah, that's what I mean, like- I think he said-...
26:22
w- if it stays within the same... Yeah, he s- I think he said, like, in the 11s. Well, it was- Or something [laughs]... they're, they're, I think their, their brewery's in North Carolina, and, um, I...
26:30
He made mention of transporting alcohol across state lines or liquor. Yee-haw. Not alcohol or something. It's like- Oh, so it's got to be a certain percentage- Yeah... maybe?
26:38
I think it might have been a little on the high side or some [laughs] of the smoking- So they, they recorded it low-... smoking a bit... to get it over the border? I don't think they made any mention of it. Yeah.
26:46
And by the way, this was, I don't know, 10 years ago. This was a while back. More than that, I think. No, wait, 2014 I thought. Whatever. I think my concussion is over by now.
26:53
[laughs] I don't remember falling off no damn stool. [laughs] Funny, I don't either, and I did it right here. [laughs] Oh, yeah. That wasn't beer related though probably. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. Hah. Ah.
27:09
So James brought his guitar over here. Guitar. You wanna do a little guitar picking? Oh, maybe a little bit. Or a description. Do it, do it. Put it into JK's mic right there.
27:18
Just put that mic down there and let him- Turn that mic down... let's see what that sounds like. I'm kind of curious... I should tell a little bit about a while ago. Turn that beat back.
27:24
We sh- I didn't, I- If we're all stuck here and, you know, we can't go to our bars, I host an open jam, and a couple other bars host an open jam, and they're struggling to do what they need to do. Check 'em out.
27:39
Check out what your bar's doing on social media, whatnot. They might be, uh, open for carryout, for growlers.
27:46
Here's another thing I've seen really popular, at least in Milwaukee, and I'm sure it's happening elsewhere, is, like, Big Smith doing the thing for Newport where he does an online concert by himself, but donate 'cause you're seeing Big do his thing.
27:58
Right. James is doing his thing. He normally hosts a Thursday or Tuesday open jam at, uh, Thurman's down there on Milwaukee's fashionable Brady Street district. There you go. Point that thing right. Point it.
28:11
Point it right there. There you go. Oh, that's way... That's quite directional. There you go. More pointing is better. Sounds nice. Oh, you got your earphones on. You can hear what it's doing.
28:22
[laughs] How, how weird is that? [guitar playing] Ladies and gentlemen, we also call this a beer break.
28:38
Maybe if James let us know ahead of time, we could have set up a mic for him. Holy crap. Oh, everything's happening. [phone ringing] We got a phone call. [laughs] Phone's ringing, dude.
28:58
Oh, and- Oh, right on... back to our confused radio programming. Tony, how is the game going over there? It's not a game, it's your fucking cousin. Same, same.
29:14
[laughs] Denardo, he has a, uh- Hello, Denardo... actually, wait, this is bike related as a matter of fact. Denardo sends me this picture of his bike. I'm gonna show you this wheel.
29:23
You can look at it from a socially distance- Please... acceptable. And you'll notice that in the center of the axle there is a grease fitting. Huh. This is for a 1936 wooden-wheeled track bike. Oh.
29:41
So you just fill the bearings and keep the bearings greased up that way. [laughs] I mean, it's crazy, but it works. I mean, it, it's old technology. Fill it with full of grease, you know?
29:53
But it goes to show you, I mean, it's a pretty, it's a solid axle. I mean, not a solid in that it doesn't have a quick release, so you can... Yeah, that's- Is axle grease made of people? Axle, axle- This-...
30:08
axle, axle baby... is oil made of babies? [laughs] Are Girl Scout cookies made of real Girl Scouts? No, the only thing Girl Scouts have ever done for you is take your money and make you fat. Mm, and rarely at that.
30:20
I have never, I've never, I've never- Well, for me, I, it's almost never happens 'cause I'm not a big fan, but- Yeah, yeah. The Girl...
30:25
I've never, like, drank the Kool-Aid or ate the cookie or whatever little analogy, metaphor. Right. And act like you never ate them.
30:33
Oh, yeah, but I, I, I mean, I, it's not like I, like, freak out as many freaking people do. Where it's like, "Oh my God, am I gonna have to get these things with Thin Mints?" And da, da, da, da, da Yeah.
30:45
Oh God, no, I hate that... "Oh, the coconut macaroons, or blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." Yeah. It's like, and even when I got them, I mean, like, Thin Mint, yeah, I could wrap my head around it. They're okay.
30:53
I could wrap my head around that one. Yeah. But everything else was all- The peanut butter ones, yeah, they're all right... they had a lemon one. They're not all that. They had a lemon one when I was growing up.
31:01
Like, like a lemon, a lemon bar-ish, lemon cookie. Oh. It was like a sugar cookie kinda thing, but a little lemon tinge to it. And of course I went bye-bye, as all things that I love- All things JK approves go bye-bye.
31:15
[laughs] This is the hole where love used to live. I [laughs] I fucking left her. What is, what is in this, uh, seven- Like- Oh, that's 7.1, yeah. Yeah.
31:25
They claim it's 7.172, but like Tim said on the show a couple weeks ago- Oh, what's this little piece of paper floating in here? [laughs] He's like, he's like, "Oh." He's like [laughs] I left you something. Yeah.
31:37
Tim's always like, "Yeah, I c- you know, I, I kinda like my beers heavy." It's like, yeah, I, I honestly think you might stretch the truth on your, you know, percentage volumes on your beers.
31:47
'Cause sometimes- [laughs]... I'll, I'll have two beers there, and be like, "Oh God, I'm, I'm struggling to get home now." Oh yeah, yeah. And I mean, I, and I... It's like the, the DeSantis, that great ale, an 8%-er.
32:01
So damn delicious. And it slides, and it's hard that, I mean, it's 8%. That slides, and I don't care after like three- That was Mike. He is confirming that his bike will accept the thick slick in the 29 by 2.1. Nice. Ah.
32:18
Tony recommended the thick slick when he w- We were talking tires, and I'm like- There- I love the hell out of that slick, that, that thick, thick- You gotta get yourself thick slicks, man...
32:26
how do you sh- how do you say thick slick? Thick- Thick slick... thick- Thick slick With a lisp? Thick slick. Thick slick with a lisp. What'd you guys talk about while I was gone? Did you talk about anything interesting?
32:34
Uh, no. Probably not. I'll l- have to listen to the show to find out what I missed. [laughs] There you go. We talked about Girl Scout cookies. Is that, is that dope, or- [laughs] No. No, no.
32:45
Girl Scout cookies, and the fact that we were wondering- But I like where your head's at. [laughs] We were wondering whether- [laughs]... the other thing we were pondering is, is, is baby oil made from babies?
32:53
Wait a minute. Well, Girl Scout cookies are weed, I guess. I don't know if that's what this is. No. It is, it is a strain, so. All right. I did not know that. Well, somehow we managed to do it again. How?
33:03
I don't know how we do it every week. Week in and week out, folks, we manage to waste a half hour or better of your time. And- Thank you for listening... and [laughs] th- Happy Earth, Happy Earth Day, Earth...
33:11
thank, thank God you're here to hear it. Happy Earth Day. Hey, tune in either next week probably, or the week after, when we actually have an interesting show with Chris from Psychic Arena.
33:18
Our shows are interesting, God damn it. And call in. You know the number. Yeah. Say- says the one guy that listens to it, Tony B. It's 717. 727. 2453. 2453. Does that spell bike? That spells bike.
33:29
Hey, you know, if anybody called in today I probably would've missed it, 'cause I'm not even looking at the thing. Oh, I would- If you called in, we love you. You know what?
33:35
I guess we need a fourth person to be our, uh- If you didn't call in, we love you... they would sit here and do nothing for a half an hour bud- Just like, go like this when a call comes in. Right? That'd be their job.
33:44
That's, we, well, at the old studio we ac- That's producing. At the- That's why, that's producing. That's what- At the, remember at the old studio, we had that glass window and we had, uh- Oh, shit. Yeah...
33:53
we had Uncle Rich in there- Oh, yeah... be- being the, being the call screener guy? That was hilarious. That was interesting. Yep. By cracky, you ought to go back and listen to some of the later episodes- Oh, shit.
34:03
Yeah... of the, the, the weekly dose of Phat, if you haven't listened to them. Uh, up to show 125, I think [laughs] we were doing pretty well. I don't know about after that, 'cause JK and I kind of- Disappeared...
34:14
did this, this, this, this- Witness protection program... we, we didn't do it anymore. Unplugged from- Yeah, well it w-... the Matrix-ish- Yeah, it was sort of a-... a little bit. Witness protection program...
34:23
u- from that part, and then- You're gonna wanna go ahead and listen to that show anyway though. That's an interesting podcast... re- reattached to different parts of the- Troposphere... thing. The troposphere.
34:31
Troposphere. I know. I watched Ga- Ga- Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 today- Oh... so I'm, I'm- Wow, you've had a lot of time in your- Hey, I-... k- your dining room office...
34:41
I have to keep watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe in order That's, that's a good one too. That's something my daughter told my son he had to do- That's a gatekeeper move... before he could watch whatever movie. Yeah.
34:50
No, you have to start at the beginning. Exactly. Yeah. Why not? There, there is something to be said about that. Yeah. All right, well- There's a, there's a- All right. All right. Well- All right.
34:57
He doesn't have 48 years to get through all this shit, but- I'm 52- Yeah, he- Well, maybe he does... and I haven't started four... I guess he does... yet. You could do it in a week easily.
35:04
Yeah, right now he does, for sure. I'm stretching it out like an advent calendar. Right. Yeah. One a, one a day. [laughs] All right, everybody. That's 'cause it's holy. Oh. It's time to go- Ho...
35:13
because now people are just rambling. Ramble on. We're rambling again. Look, a blue car.
35:18
[upbeat music]
