- 0:00Speaker 1: I feel like every time you walk into a store,
- 0:01Speaker 1: we're starting to see all of the holiday decorations of
- 0:04Speaker 1: all sorts. And so I came across this thing and
- 0:08Speaker 1: it's nine things that your family members will say to
- 0:12Speaker 1: you that kind of give that they're insecure. So with
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of these like family parties and family functions coming up,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you that you're not alone. Everyone
- 0:21Speaker 1: else's family can suck too. so here are some things
- 0:26Speaker 1: that like maybe an aunt or an uncle or a
- 0:29Speaker 1: cousin might say to you at a family party just
- 0:32Speaker 1: to like embarrass you or get under their skin or
- 0:34Speaker 1: under your skin but just take the mental note that
- 0:36Speaker 1: it's about them and not about you so once that
- 0:39Speaker 1: hit you just wouldn't get it Like, oh, well, you
- 0:42Speaker 1: don't have kids, so you don't understand. Or you don't
- 0:43Speaker 1: have a real job.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Ooh, that's a tough one.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Real job. Exactly.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Okay, another one.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I've learned that one before.
- 0:50Speaker 4: One time I was on a lunch with a friend,
- 0:53Speaker 4: and we were just starting out, and I had got
- 0:55Speaker 4: the first real job out of both of us.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And then I went to go pay, and she was
- 0:58Speaker 2: going to pay. I go, no, no, I'll pay. Come on.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I go, when you get a real job, you pay.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Ouch. oh yeah that burns especially if you're trying to
- 1:06Speaker 1: like get your footing in like the real.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Life but family they like to drop it in front
- 1:10Speaker 3: of all the other families so you you want to
- 1:12Speaker 3: be defensive but you can't you shouldn't be defensive.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Exactly meanwhile by the way i paid with a coupon
- 1:16Speaker 4: i paid with a gift card.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I remember the gift card life.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah don't forget about us now And that one hits
- 1:25Speaker 1: for me because I played sports in college and I
- 1:29Speaker 1: went to different states and different stuff. So when I
- 1:31Speaker 1: would come home, I would be like, okay, I got
- 1:33Speaker 1: to go back to school. I'd be like, well, don't
- 1:34Speaker 1: forget about us.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, I got to do my thing.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Stop trying to guilt trip me.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Aunt Mel.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I don't know if that one necessarily means they're insecure.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Maybe they just miss you and think you have got
- 1:44Speaker 1: big things going on.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like, you know, it's the
- 1:47Speaker 2: tone though. Somebody said it in a nice way.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Don't forget where you came from.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Okay. That's different. You're getting too big for your britches coming. Exactly. Okay.
- 1:58Speaker 1: This one. You're acting so different.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's good. Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And like for me, sometimes I'm like, that's kind of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the goal. Like, do you want me to stay the same?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Hold on a second. Rachel, you got one? What do
- 2:10Speaker 2: you got, Rachel?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh, yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 5: So every time I go to see my family and
- 2:17Speaker 5: my grandma's there, she always asks me how my ugly
- 2:21Speaker 5: boyfriend's doing and if I'm still with him.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I love your grandma. She sounds awesome.
- 2:28Speaker 5: We've literally been together four years, so now, like, whenever
- 2:31Speaker 5: my boyfriend is over, too, he, like, heads it at
- 2:35Speaker 5: the pass and is like, yep, grandma's still ugly.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm glad he's got a good sense of humor about it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: That's hilarious. That's your ugly boyfriend doing it. Thanks, Rachel.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Grandma's awesome. Thanks a lot, Rachel. Thanks a lot, Rachel.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Isn't that a thing? Have you guys heard that before?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Isn't that an Instagram thing? Thanks a lot, Rachel. Oh
- 2:55Speaker 2: my God. Let's see if we can find it. Meanwhile,
- 2:58Speaker 2: what else you got, Peyton? Okay, this one.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Are you too good for us now? Yeah, you miss
- 3:04Speaker 1: one family function and suddenly like you're just you can't
- 3:08Speaker 1: you can't be caught, can't be seen anymore. You just
- 3:11Speaker 1: don't need that to be happy.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Oh, when you're talking about like, well, I'm working, I'm
- 3:14Speaker 3: trying to do exactly right. Like trying to get a house.
- 3:17Speaker 3: No one asked.
- 3:18Speaker 2: It's my goals. Can I present this to you, please?
- 3:21Speaker 2: This is this video, this little girl. Thanks a lot,
- 3:24Speaker 2: you idiot. Thanks a lot, Rachel. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I've
- 3:29Speaker 2: seen that. Thanks a lot, Rachel. That's so funny. Go ahead, Peyton. Sorry.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Okay. You used to be a lot less uptight. So, like,
- 3:38Speaker 1: in translation, you used to let us do whatever we
- 3:40Speaker 1: wanted to you. You used to let us say whatever
- 3:42Speaker 1: we wanted to you. But now you got a backbone.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Hey, Evan, you got one to add to this list?
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Every time I'm at my family reunion.
- 3:52Speaker 3: My aunt just has to remind everybody that I slept
- 3:55Speaker 3: with my cousin's best.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Friend at her wedding.
- 3:58Speaker 3: No.
- 3:59Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And this was like six years ago.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Well, she just typed in your love. No, she's clearly.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Projecting onto me that her own husband has been remarried
- 4:10Speaker 3: like three times.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:11Speaker 1: All right.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It's silly.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Now, do you think she said maybe you're missing the
- 4:15Speaker 4: point of view here? Have you been laid since then?
- 4:18Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Maybe she's like, oh my God, Evan. Evan hasn't been
- 4:21Speaker 2: with anyone in six years. You can do it. You
- 4:23Speaker 2: did it in six years. Get back out there. Get
- 4:25Speaker 2: out there, Evan.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Which wouldn't necessarily be appropriate for an aunt to point
- 4:29Speaker 1: out anyway.
- 4:29Speaker 2: All right, dude. Thanks for calling in. Thank you guys.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Well, I'm family, so.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Nah.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Well, I'm your mom, so I can say that. My
- 4:39Speaker 1: mom does that a lot. I'm like, girl, no, you can't.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Family reunions, things you're going to walk into in the
- 4:47Speaker 4: holidays that they're going to say to you that just
- 4:49Speaker 4: let it go.
- 4:49Speaker 2: That's why you get a pregame. Exactly.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Walk in there. For sure. Okay.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Two more.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You need to move on. Whether that was like a relationship,
- 4:59Speaker 1: a family issue, instead of actually address it. It was like,
- 5:02Speaker 1: that was 10 years ago.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Forget about it. That's good.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Last one.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Well, that's just what parents do. I feel like this
- 5:09Speaker 1: is kind of like the parent version of like, well,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I'm family. So it's basically using parenthood just to like
- 5:13Speaker 1: justify overstepping a boundary.
- 5:16Speaker 2: All right, very good. If there's one of these you
- 5:17Speaker 2: want to add on here, Texas, JJR. To 96893. Texas.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Choosing Texas.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I feel like if the mashed potatoes are really good,
- 5:26Speaker 3: I'm good with all that candy.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You should have a song that's choosing to text us.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Choosing to text us. You can call us. You can
- 5:35Speaker 2: call us or you can choose to text us.
- 5:37Speaker 5: There you go.
- 5:38Speaker 2: All right. It's John J.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Rich.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Just when I thought I got him to fall in
- 5:44Speaker 3: love with Tennessee.
