- 0:04Speaker 1: one washef.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Out ninety seven point one wash CHEFM Toby and Chilly
- 0:08Speaker 2: in the Morning. Now the weather forecast decide it is Friday,
- 0:11Speaker 2: which means it's the end of the week, and you
- 0:13Speaker 2: gotta be feeling good about something this morning. Playing the
- 0:17Speaker 2: part of Chilium are today, Kat Harris is in, thanks
- 0:20Speaker 2: for waking up this morning. Why are you feeling good
- 0:21Speaker 2: this morning?
- 0:22Speaker 3: I'm feeling good because I got to watch my show
- 0:24Speaker 3: last night, The Pit.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Oh really a good show, is it? I need to
- 0:28Speaker 2: add that to my watch list if you have not.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, intense and beautiful and just so good.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Really, yes, I just finished up watching what's it called Landman.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Oh, I've heard that's good, so I'll watch lad Man.
- 0:40Speaker 2: You watch a bit? Okay?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Cool?
- 0:41Speaker 2: So that sounds like a plan. That's awesome. So that's
- 0:44Speaker 2: good that he's bringing you joy. I'm finding joy today
- 0:47Speaker 2: because well, I've found a guy who is who was
- 0:51Speaker 2: an uber driver who now just comes to pick me
- 0:53Speaker 2: up in the mornings when I have to come to
- 0:55Speaker 2: work while I'm not driving. You know, we made a
- 0:57Speaker 2: kind of a deal off the app. He's a great dude.
- 1:00Speaker 2: When I saw him this morning, he was smiling, he
- 1:02Speaker 2: was just happy to see me, and I was thankful,
- 1:05Speaker 2: thankful that this man is in my life for whatever reason,
- 1:10Speaker 2: because I think it's more than riots. I'm not a
- 1:13Speaker 2: believer in coincidences. I think that things happen because they're
- 1:16Speaker 2: meant to be, and this guy was a good one. Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 2: I was meant to meet him. Now. I hope he
- 1:22Speaker 2: can get me to work in the snow on Monday.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But that's a different story for a different time. Why
- 1:28Speaker 2: are you feeling good this Friday morning? As we get
- 1:29Speaker 2: the show started, hit us up eight sixty six nine
- 1:32Speaker 2: two seven forty three sixty one. Tap the talk back microphone.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chilly in the morning here at ninety
- 1:37Speaker 2: seven point one wash FN. Stay right there, Toby, it
- 1:40Speaker 2: till he's Top Stories at the top of the hour.
- 1:42Speaker 1: On the way Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Several states are declaring states of emergency ahead of the
- 1:52Speaker 3: possibly historic winter storm. Metro areas from Dallas to New
- 1:56Speaker 3: York are in the storm's past. Now right here in
- 1:59Speaker 3: the DC area, crews are preparing, They're coding streets with
- 2:03Speaker 3: Brian ahead of the storm, got about three hundred workers
- 2:06Speaker 3: ready to deploy plows when the snow does begin to fall.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Winter Stormwatch goes into effect tomorrow night. Greenland's Prime Minister
- 2:14Speaker 3: says that the terms of President Trump's deal over the
- 2:17Speaker 3: future of his country are unclear. He says he doesn't
- 2:21Speaker 3: know what's concrete in that deal, while also noting that
- 2:25Speaker 3: only Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark have the mandate
- 2:28Speaker 3: to make deals or agreements on their behalf. Jurors will
- 2:32Speaker 3: be hearing testimony and the Brendan Banfield murder trial today.
- 2:37Speaker 3: The judge overseeing the case decided to continue the trial
- 2:40Speaker 3: today to help stay on schedule if winter weather interrupts
- 2:45Speaker 3: testimony early next week. Defense attorneys tried to show yesterday
- 2:50Speaker 3: that investigators disagreed on the theory that Banfield and his
- 2:53Speaker 3: family's O pair created a fake fetish website account as
- 2:58Speaker 3: part of the plot to kill Christian Banfiel and another man.
- 3:01Speaker 3: The National March for Life is going to be held
- 3:05Speaker 3: today right here in DC. A rally and concert will
- 3:09Speaker 3: start up at eleven am to one pm, with the
- 3:12Speaker 3: march schedule to begin after the rally. Street closures and
- 3:16Speaker 3: parking restrictions will be in effect along the March route
- 3:19Speaker 3: up until late this afternoon. Forecast for today partly cloudy
- 3:24Speaker 3: with a high of forty.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Currently we are at thirty seven and buuie and that.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Is your news, Katie Harris, thank you so much. We're
- 3:31Speaker 2: Toby at Chilly in the Morning. It's ninety seven point
- 3:34Speaker 2: one wash CHEFM. How you doing this morning. I know
- 3:37Speaker 2: it's the end of the week, the weather's going to
- 3:39Speaker 2: get interesting. Perhaps your mindset is a bit jumbled or
- 3:42Speaker 2: a bit concerned. Well, maybe we can help to turn
- 3:45Speaker 2: your day around or give you a little something that
- 3:46Speaker 2: will give you extra pep to get it get through
- 3:49Speaker 2: today and into the weekend. Your morning mindset is on
- 3:52Speaker 2: the way. Next it is Friday with Toby at Chilly
- 3:56Speaker 2: in the Morning here on ninety seven point one WASHFM.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I know our minds are on what the weather might
- 4:01Speaker 2: do this weekend. It could be causing you a bit
- 4:05Speaker 2: of stress. I feel you. We're all in the same
- 4:08Speaker 2: boat and that's why your morning mindset, I think might
- 4:11Speaker 2: help you to shift your focus a little bit to
- 4:14Speaker 2: taking on whatever today may bring. John Acuff says, your
- 4:18Speaker 2: eighty percent on a hard day still beats zero percent
- 4:23Speaker 2: on a perfect one. You're eighty percent on a hard
- 4:26Speaker 2: day still beats zero percent on a perfect one. See,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you don't need to crush it. I think what John
- 4:33Speaker 2: Acuff is trying to say is that we just need
- 4:36Speaker 2: to show up, you know, because progress is in itself persistence.
- 4:41Speaker 2: You're eighty percent on a hard day still beats zero
- 4:44Speaker 2: percent on a perfect one. And that is your morning
- 4:48Speaker 2: mindset for this Friday. If it helped you and you
- 4:52Speaker 2: might want to share it with somebody who might need
- 4:53Speaker 2: to hear it, you'll find it. It's on the Toby
- 4:55Speaker 2: and chilipage at washfm dot com. And while you're there,
- 4:58Speaker 2: remember you can share something with us that's motivated you
- 5:01Speaker 2: to press on toward the goal. On this Friday morning
- 5:05Speaker 2: or on any morning. We always love to read what
- 5:07Speaker 2: you have to send our way. Toby at Chilipage at
- 5:10Speaker 2: washefm dot com, or you can tap the talkback microphone
- 5:13Speaker 2: and hit us with a quick message if you want,
- 5:15Speaker 2: got Toby at Chilli in the morning here at ninety
- 5:17Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM. Like I was saying, everybody's minds
- 5:21Speaker 2: on the weather, what will it be? What's the timeline.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We have some friends who are in the know and
- 5:28Speaker 2: we will check in with them next to find out
- 5:33Speaker 2: what actual meteorologists say. Hang on Toby at Chilly in
- 5:38Speaker 2: the Morning on ninety seven point one WASHFM. Over there
- 5:41Speaker 2: is Katy Harris playing the part at chili Omar today. Look,
- 5:43Speaker 2: everybody's talking about the weather, and when we need to
- 5:47Speaker 2: know what's really going on, we turned to seven News
- 5:50Speaker 2: DC's First Alert Weather Center and meteorologist Eileen Waylan.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Eileen, inquiring minds want to know what is really gonna happen.
- 6:01Speaker 5: We're going to get snow, it is going to be
- 6:03Speaker 5: bitterly cold, and we also have the threat for ice.
- 6:07Speaker 5: So first of all, let's just get ready for the
- 6:09Speaker 5: frigid weather tonight, guys, cold weather alert start at eight o'clock.
- 6:13Speaker 5: We're going to have windchills sub zero by tomorrow morning.
- 6:15Speaker 5: You're ready for that, Toby. No, then we've got clouds
- 6:19Speaker 5: that thicken. We've got snow starting after about eight pm tomorrow,
- 6:22Speaker 5: but I think the heaviest snow comes overnight Saturday, like
- 6:25Speaker 5: after midnight and through about ten am Sunday morning. So
- 6:28Speaker 5: when you wake up Sunday morning, we're gonna have several
- 6:30Speaker 5: inches of snow. The big question is when does that
- 6:34Speaker 5: sleep and freezing rain start mixing in. Right now, I'd
- 6:37Speaker 5: plan for eight inches to a foot of snow, maybe
- 6:40Speaker 5: even a quarter of an inch of ice on top.
- 6:41Speaker 5: That's what I'm most concerned about because we could be
- 6:43Speaker 5: dealing with power outages and then we've got you know,
- 6:45Speaker 5: temperatures in the twenties heading into next week. So if
- 6:48Speaker 5: people lose power and then you know they don't have
- 6:50Speaker 5: heat and electric, that's not a good thing. So we
- 6:52Speaker 5: don't want to scary, but well, just make sure everybody's
- 6:54Speaker 5: prepared for a winter weather event that's on the way.
- 6:57Speaker 5: And if you can just stay home and enjoy it,
- 6:59Speaker 5: you know, cozy with the fire and the fireplace, that's
- 7:01Speaker 5: a good bet to me.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And I think that personally being prepared and staying snuggled
- 7:06Speaker 3: and hunkered down at home is the way to go.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I could not agree more.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we want everybody to be safe. Let the cruise
- 7:13Speaker 5: go out do their thing. Shout out to all of them,
- 7:16Speaker 5: because you know they're going to be working in some
- 7:18Speaker 5: pretty hard, rough conditions with it just being so cold,
- 7:21Speaker 5: and everything is just going to be frozen. It's going
- 7:23Speaker 5: to be almost like a tundra.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So watch some football from the frozen tundra of the DMV.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Everybody's a parent, We all want to know what this
- 7:32Speaker 2: means for school next week.
- 7:33Speaker 5: I guarantee you kids will not be at school on Monday,
- 7:36Speaker 5: maybe Tuesday. I mean, I would plan to have the
- 7:39Speaker 5: kids home for several days next week just because of
- 7:42Speaker 5: the lingering. Since it's going to be so cold, we're
- 7:44Speaker 5: still going to be dealing with a lot of that ice,
- 7:46Speaker 5: which then makes it sometimes even harder to clean up.
- 7:49Speaker 5: So I do think that this could go on for
- 7:51Speaker 5: several days next week, so parents plan ahead. I went
- 7:54Speaker 5: to the store and got all the crafts and all
- 7:56Speaker 5: the puzzles, and.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Don't be chill.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I thought I saw you at Wegmans. Stop it, Toby,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you know I mean too well. Eileen Whalen, you are
- 8:08Speaker 2: one of the best. It's always a pleasure to talk
- 8:11Speaker 2: to you and your colleagues over there. Thank you for everything.
- 8:14Speaker 2: What's the app we need so we can stay connected
- 8:16Speaker 2: to you guys, The First.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Alert Weather App DC. You can also check us out
- 8:20Speaker 5: on WJLA dot com. We're on air, we're online, We're
- 8:24Speaker 5: on your side to come find us.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Eileen Whalen, thank you so much.
- 8:28Speaker 5: You guys, stay safe and stay warm.
- 8:30Speaker 2: We'll do our best. Stay right there. Top Stories at
- 8:33Speaker 2: the top of the Hour, On the Way with Toby
- 8:35Speaker 2: and Chilly in the morning on this Friday, Toby and
- 8:38Speaker 2: till you in the morning at ninety seven point one
- 8:40Speaker 2: wash FM, where we want to honor the teachers who've
- 8:43Speaker 2: made a difference in your life, maybe a family member's life.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Maybe you're a teacher and you know you've made a difference.
- 8:49Speaker 2: How would you like to win five thousand dollars for
- 8:52Speaker 2: your classroom? Well, thanks to our friends at donors Choose,
- 8:55Speaker 2: It's Iheartradios. Think a teacher, tell us all about that
- 8:59Speaker 2: local teacher that's made that difference and they could score
- 9:03Speaker 2: five grand. Details are at washingfm dot com slash Teachers.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:15Speaker 3: DC is about to break ground on a huge project.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Details on the Way, Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:25Speaker 3: President Trump is back in DC after a trip to
- 9:28Speaker 3: the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. He spoke about the
- 9:30Speaker 3: ongoing developments in Greenland. During the trip, Trump also oversaw
- 9:34Speaker 3: a signing ceremony establishing his Gaza Board of Peace meant
- 9:37Speaker 3: to oversee the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. He also
- 9:41Speaker 3: met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinski during his trip. Strain
- 9:45Speaker 3: on the nation's largest power grid is expected to set
- 9:49Speaker 3: records as a potentially historic winter storm sweeps through a
- 9:54Speaker 3: large part of the us PJM Interconnection is the grid
- 9:57Speaker 3: that serves sixty seven million people in thirteen states and
- 10:01Speaker 3: the District of Columbia. It is predicting an all time
- 10:04Speaker 3: high for demand, peaking on January twenty seventh. DC has
- 10:08Speaker 3: now broken ground for its largest project to convert office
- 10:11Speaker 3: space to housing. Mayor Bowser kicked off the project at
- 10:15Speaker 3: a building on Connecticut Avenue yesterday. The fifteen story residential
- 10:18Speaker 3: building will have five hundred and thirty two units, including
- 10:22Speaker 3: sixty that are classified as affordable. DC is also looking
- 10:25Speaker 3: for additional volunteers to help clear snow for seniors and
- 10:30Speaker 3: those with disabilities. DC's Volunteer Snow team has about two
- 10:34Speaker 3: hundred volunteers so far this year, but it could use
- 10:37Speaker 3: additional help, especially with the extreme weather expected this weekend.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Serve d C says about fifteen hundred residents have asked
- 10:45Speaker 3: for help clearing snow from their sidewalks. More information about
- 10:49Speaker 3: volunteering is available on the Serve DC website. And finally,
- 10:54Speaker 3: looks like hobbies are making a big comeback in twenty
- 10:57Speaker 3: twenty six.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Reading is leading the way.
- 10:59Speaker 3: A new survey found that reading tops the list of
- 11:03Speaker 3: activities that people want to pick up the most this year.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Partly Cloudy Sky's for a forecast for today. Right now
- 11:10Speaker 3: we are at thirty eight degrees and Sterling.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Coming up next with Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Now that you've got your news top stories. At the
- 11:16Speaker 2: top of the hour, we're gonna talk about this list
- 11:19Speaker 2: of the most effective email closings. These are the closings
- 11:24Speaker 2: you should use to guarantee that you get a response.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We'll share what they are, we'll talk about it. Eight

- 12:04Speaker 2: of the most effective email closings, according to the email
- 12:08Speaker 2: app Boomerang. I've never used the email app Boomerang, but
- 12:12Speaker 2: apparently they decided they wanted to find out what the
- 12:14Speaker 2: most effective email closings were, and so they did. Thanks
- 12:19Speaker 2: in advance number one on the list gets you at
- 12:21Speaker 2: thirty eight point three increase in responses Thanks is number

- 12:45Speaker 2: you're done spewing whatever you spew to whomever you're spewing
- 12:49Speaker 2: it to.
- 12:49Speaker 3: With an email, I usually say either I look forward
- 12:53Speaker 3: to your response or much love I think it would
- 12:58Speaker 3: be great if when you send a thank you as
- 13:01Speaker 3: the as the ending of the email, that they.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Did it like in a Southern thing.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Like thank you, thank you, bless your heart. You know,
- 13:11Speaker 2: when I close an email, I usually use like an
- 13:14Speaker 2: acronym version of thanks. I just contentionally misspell it THHX
- 13:19Speaker 2: exclamation point seriously, or I say thank you for reading.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And then my favorite one is okay, I'm done now.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Well yeah, you know what that reminds me.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I forgot the one other thing I use as a
- 13:32Speaker 3: closing and an email, thanks, love you boy boy.
- 13:35Speaker 2: How do you close an email when you send it?
- 13:37Speaker 2: Tell us what it is and how effective it is
- 13:41Speaker 2: for you. You can call us an eight sixty six nineteen
- 13:43Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one, or tap the talk back
- 13:45Speaker 2: microphone and leave us a voice note. We always love
- 13:49Speaker 2: hearing from you. With Toby and Chilly in the morning
- 13:51Speaker 2: here on ninety seven point one watch FM, Katie and
- 13:54Speaker 2: I were talking a few minutes ago. We want to
- 13:56Speaker 2: get our producer Crash in here for this. Everybody has
- 13:59Speaker 2: a snow story, like a snowmageddon story, a snow disaster story,
- 14:06Speaker 2: something that happened when you got a foot of snow
- 14:09Speaker 2: just in tough for us to get a foot of
- 14:11Speaker 2: snow for the weekend. So what's your story? Give us call,
- 14:14Speaker 2: tell us your story. We'll share some of ours with you.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Coming up. Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues Toby
- 14:20Speaker 2: and Chilly in the Morning. It is ninety seven point
- 14:22Speaker 2: one Watch FM. There's Katy Harris playing the part of
- 14:25Speaker 2: CHILIAMR today and our producer Crash is here. Because everybody
- 14:30Speaker 2: has a snow story, a snow disaster kind of a story. Katie,
- 14:35Speaker 2: we were talking about this a little bit earlier.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So I filled in for you one day and I
- 14:40Speaker 3: left the radio station here in Roxhall And at the
- 14:43Speaker 3: time I lived like right outside of Waldor.
- 14:44Speaker 4: If I'm thinking just started to snow, I'll be fine.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I did not get home until almost eight o'clock that.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Night because of what streets weren't plowed.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Well, every single exit I would have taken was completely blocked.
- 14:59Speaker 4: With an accident you couldn't get through.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I finally decided to take a back road, only to
- 15:05Speaker 3: get stuck on a hill hit by a metro bus.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Thank goodness, I had magazines and snacky snacks in my
- 15:10Speaker 3: trunk and then I'm not ashamed to say that I
- 15:13Speaker 3: actually had to make use of certain items in the
- 15:16Speaker 3: car when I had to use bathroom.
- 15:18Speaker 2: You got hit by a metro bus and you're glad
- 15:21Speaker 2: you had snacky snacks. Yeah, I would have owned metro.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Well, no, no, no, I mean it was It wasn't
- 15:27Speaker 3: a big thing, but the metro bus came sliding down.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I couldn't move my car, yeah, you know, and I
- 15:32Speaker 3: was just stuck there. It made no sense to go anywhere.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I went into the trunk. I found magazines, snacks, maybe
- 15:39Speaker 3: a little bottle of wine.
- 15:41Speaker 4: No, I'm just I didn't well, but anyway, did.
- 15:44Speaker 6: You see Katie Harris on the side of the road,
- 15:47Speaker 6: probably loaded? Remember that as we get into the weekend
- 15:51Speaker 6: and you do your traveling in the middle of an
- 15:53Speaker 6: ice storm, crash.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Everybody has one of these stories. Eight six, seven, forty
- 15:57Speaker 2: three sixty one is the number if you want to
- 15:59Speaker 2: share yours with us. What's your story there? Crash?
- 16:02Speaker 7: The blizzard of ninety six. Okay, I was stuck in
- 16:05Speaker 7: a radio station for six days. We were stranded in
- 16:08Speaker 7: It was me and one other dude. We rotated six
- 16:11Speaker 7: hour shifts twenty four to seven through that whole thing.
- 16:13Speaker 7: You have got to be kidding. No, this was before automation,
- 16:16Speaker 7: so there was no computers. Everything had to be done manually.
- 16:21Speaker 7: Six days of that. How did you feel when the
- 16:24Speaker 7: sixth day was done?
- 16:26Speaker 4: Dirty? Oh?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Real dirty?
- 16:29Speaker 4: I was just thinking that. I was like, how did
- 16:31Speaker 4: you shower?
- 16:32Speaker 2: We didn't? How did you sleep? We did? I mean,
- 16:35Speaker 2: whoof you know? The only thing I can recall is
- 16:38Speaker 2: we had this win Snowmageddon thing that happened not I
- 16:41Speaker 2: guess in the last decade or so. And you know
- 16:43Speaker 2: the radio station when I was at ninety nine to five,
- 16:46Speaker 2: we had at h two and I went and got
- 16:49Speaker 2: the keys to that hummer and I hung them around
- 16:51Speaker 2: my neck like Lord of the Flies, and I said,

- 22:46Speaker 2: delivered was nothing short of extraordinary. Find out who this

- 23:01Speaker 2: one wasch FM on this Friday, and it's time Now
- 23:04Speaker 2: for a story that'll bring forth all the fields. Your
- 23:07Speaker 2: feel good story for this Friday comes to us from
- 23:10Speaker 2: False Church, where Hillary Cheney. She lives there. She was
- 23:13Speaker 2: in the hospital. We're coming from a really serious illness.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And when you're in the hospital, and I've had some
- 23:19Speaker 2: experience with this, all of the daily care the Bland
- 23:21Speaker 2: hospital meals, joy is hard to find, and especially when
- 23:26Speaker 2: you're like Hillary Cheney, who loved travel and find dining.
- 23:30Speaker 2: She missed this while she was hospitalized. She just wanted
- 23:33Speaker 2: to taste the experiences she used to enjoy, and so
- 23:38Speaker 2: she reached out to a few top restaurants with one
- 23:40Speaker 2: special request, could somebody bring me a memorable meal to
- 23:45Speaker 2: my hospital room. Only one establishment.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Answered, and who was that establishment?
- 23:53Speaker 3: One and only chef Patrick O'Connell and his team at
- 23:58Speaker 3: the Inn at Little Washington, which, by the way, can
- 24:01Speaker 3: I just say that is like a dream? I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 3: that is to me like something I just I can't
- 24:07Speaker 3: even wrap my head around.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It's on my bucket list.
- 24:10Speaker 3: His team, on a cold, cold night, had a couple
- 24:12Speaker 3: of staff members they carefully crafted check us out a
- 24:16Speaker 3: six course meal to her hospital room, making magic happen.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I mean they had Caviat shuts up Big Crab and
- 24:27Speaker 3: even the luscious chocolate dessert and every dish as it
- 24:32Speaker 3: came out had this effect on Hillary's spirit, just making
- 24:37Speaker 3: magic happen. So at this point, this meal for Hillary
- 24:41Speaker 3: in the hospital, it wasn't just food. It was that
- 24:45Speaker 3: connection that you get when you are in one of
- 24:48Speaker 3: the most challenging times and you've got this little bite
- 24:51Speaker 3: of joy that is just it makes that moment so
- 24:56Speaker 3: much better than that, like the dark place that you're in,
- 24:59Speaker 3: dear with an illness.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Sure, and it's a reminder of the power that Karen
- 25:04Speaker 2: thoughtfulness can bring to people who are feeling hopelessness when
- 25:09Speaker 2: they're in the hospital. Wow, the inn at Little Washington,
- 25:12Speaker 2: Jeff Patrick O'Connell, what you did for Hillary scratch something
- 25:16Speaker 2: off of her bucket list? And I understand for you guys.
- 25:20Speaker 2: It was a moving act of generosity for the team
- 25:23Speaker 2: at the end of Little Washington, showing how just a
- 25:25Speaker 2: little bit of kindness can brighten even the hardest days.
- 25:28Speaker 2: That's a story that feels good on a Friday for
- 25:31Speaker 2: a whole host of reasons. If you want to read
- 25:33Speaker 2: it again, you can find it on the Toby and
- 25:35Speaker 2: Chili page at washefm dot com and if anybody can

- 25:43Speaker 2: the number, Amen, and stay right there because we got
- 25:46Speaker 2: your news coming up Top Stories at the top of

- 25:58Speaker 2: favorites from the eighties. Then you've got the nineties with
- 26:01Speaker 2: artists like Nirvana and so much more music. We've taken
- 26:06Speaker 2: it all, we've put it together, and now you've got
- 26:08Speaker 2: your best of the eighties and nineties. Weekends starts with
- 26:10Speaker 2: Sabrina Kanti today at five on ninety seven point one

- 26:36Speaker 3: A major winter storm is bringing heavy snow and dangerous
- 26:40Speaker 3: cold to much of the US.
- 26:42Speaker 4: This weekend.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Or casters say about two hundred million people from New
- 26:45Speaker 3: Mexico to New England are under alerts for heavy snow,
- 26:49Speaker 3: thick ice, and extreme cold. The dangerous conditions will begin
- 26:53Speaker 3: today in the Southern Plains. Vice President Jady Vance says
- 26:57Speaker 3: that there has been some cooperation from local authorities during
- 27:00Speaker 3: the ongoing immigration operations in Minnesota. Band spoke at Minneapolis,
- 27:05Speaker 3: saying that the Department of Corrections has not been the
- 27:08Speaker 3: worst defenders when it comes to cooperation.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Though we would like to see more from them.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Thousands of anti abortion protesters are expected to descend on
- 27:18Speaker 3: the nation's capital today for the annual March for Life rally.
- 27:23Speaker 3: The gathering comes at nearly four years after the Supreme
- 27:26Speaker 3: Court overturned Roe versus Wade, and just a reminder, motorists
- 27:30Speaker 3: are being warned about possible traffic delays today as well
- 27:33Speaker 3: due to the DC Police officer's funeral procession, Officer Terry Bennett,
- 27:39Speaker 3: who was hit and killed on Interstate six ninety five
- 27:41Speaker 3: last month. His funeral is happening this morning in Landover,
- 27:45Speaker 3: with the procession going through Laurel and rolling closures are
- 27:50Speaker 3: expected along Route one between one thirty and three to
- 27:54Speaker 3: thirty in the afternoon. Aman in Nevada is celebrating a
- 27:57Speaker 3: very special fiftieth birthday of a unlikely family heirloom, a snowball.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Jeff A Seamus was fifteen years old in seventy six.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Live it in his San Jose, California. What a rare
- 28:08Speaker 3: snowfall dropped several inches to the ground. He got excited,
- 28:13Speaker 3: built a snowball, and as the snow began to melt,
- 28:18Speaker 3: it occurred to him he may not experience this again, so.
- 28:21Speaker 4: He put it in an empty skippy jar.
- 28:24Speaker 3: It's now in the freezer fifty years later, partly Claudie
- 28:29Speaker 3: with a high of only forty.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Currently we are at thirty seven in Annandale.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Tell five friends that you get your news with top
- 28:36Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour, Toby and Chilly
- 28:38Speaker 2: in the morning, it's ninety seven point one Wash FM.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Katie Harris, thank you. The weather is on everybody's mind.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Do you have milk? Do you have bread? Do you
- 28:48Speaker 2: have cookies and toilet paper? Well, if not, you need
- 28:50Speaker 2: to go to your favorite grocery store and pray that
- 28:52Speaker 2: you find some. So what's really going to happen and
- 28:55Speaker 2: what's the timeline? Is we get into the weekend with
- 28:57Speaker 2: this winter storm that is on the way. We're going
- 29:01Speaker 2: to talk to Aileen Whalin over at ABC seven. She's
- 29:04Speaker 2: in the First Alert Weather Center. She knows what's going
- 29:07Speaker 2: on and she'll tell us the very latest. In minutes,
- 29:11Speaker 2: stay with Toby and Chilly in the Morning. Toby and
- 29:13Speaker 2: Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Over there is Kat Harris playing the part of chili
- 29:17Speaker 2: Omar Today. Look, everybody's talking about the weather, and when
- 29:21Speaker 2: we need to know what's really going on, we turned
- 29:24Speaker 2: to seven News DC's First Alert Weather Center and meteorologist
- 29:28Speaker 2: Aileen Waylen.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Aileen, inquiring minds want to know what is really going
- 29:36Speaker 3: to happen.
- 29:36Speaker 5: We're going to get snow, it is going to be
- 29:39Speaker 5: bitterly cold, and we also have the threat for ice.
- 29:42Speaker 5: So first of all, let's just get ready for the
- 29:44Speaker 5: frigid weather tonight, guys, Cold weather alert start at eight o'clock.
- 29:48Speaker 5: We're going to have windchills sub zero by tomorrow morning.
- 29:51Speaker 5: You ready for that, Toby, No, Then we've got clouds
- 29:54Speaker 5: that thicken. We've got snow starting after about eight pm tomorrow.
- 29:57Speaker 5: But I think the heaviest snow comes overnight Saturday, like
- 30:00Speaker 5: after midnight and through about ten am Sunday morning. So
- 30:03Speaker 5: when you wake up Sunday morning, we're going to have
- 30:05Speaker 5: several inches of snow. The big question is when does
- 30:09Speaker 5: that sleep and freezing rain start mixing in. Right now,
- 30:12Speaker 5: I'd plan for eight inches to a foot of snow,
- 30:15Speaker 5: maybe even a quarter of an inch of ice on top.
- 30:17Speaker 5: That's what I'm most concerned about because we could be
- 30:18Speaker 5: dealing with power outages and then we've got, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 5: temperatures in the twenties heading into next week. So if
- 30:23Speaker 5: people lose power and then you know they don't have
- 30:25Speaker 5: heat and electric, that's not a good thing. So we
- 30:27Speaker 5: don't want to scary, but we just make sure everybody's
- 30:29Speaker 5: prepared for a winter weather event that's on the way.
- 30:32Speaker 5: And if you can just stay home and enjoy it,
- 30:34Speaker 5: you know, cozy up with the fire and the fireplace,
- 30:36Speaker 5: that's a good bet to me.
- 30:37Speaker 3: And I think that personally being prepared and staying snuggled
- 30:41Speaker 3: and hunkered down and home is the way to go.
- 30:43Speaker 4: I could not agree more.
- 30:45Speaker 5: Yeah, we want everybody to be safe. Let the cruise
- 30:48Speaker 5: go out do their thing. Shout out to all of them,
- 30:51Speaker 5: because you know they're going to be working in some
- 30:53Speaker 5: pretty hard, rough conditions with it just being so cold,
- 30:57Speaker 5: and everything is just going to be frozen. It's going
- 30:59Speaker 5: to be almost like a tunder So.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Watch some football from the frozen tundra of the DMV.
- 31:04Speaker 2: We all want to know what this means for school
- 31:06Speaker 2: next week.
- 31:06Speaker 5: I guarantee you kids will not be at school on Monday,
- 31:09Speaker 5: maybe Tuesday. I mean, I would plan to have the
- 31:12Speaker 5: kids home for several days next week just because of
- 31:15Speaker 5: the lingering. Since it's going to be so cold, we're
- 31:17Speaker 5: still going to be dealing with a lot of that ice,
- 31:19Speaker 5: which then makes it sometimes even harder to clean up.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So I do think that this could.
- 31:24Speaker 5: Go on for several days next week, so parents plan ahead.
- 31:27Speaker 5: I went to the store and got all the crafts
- 31:28Speaker 5: and all the puzzles and.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Adult bever adult beverage.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I thought I saw you at wegmanso.
