- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to.
- 0:41Listen to a. Hypnotic session that has a.
- 0:45Wonderful metaphor and. One of my favorite animals is a
- 0:49tiger and the client that I was. Working with.
- 0:53Could really identify with. The tiger as an.
- 0:57Animal they considered. It a very powerful, forceful.
- 1:01Elegant, intelligent creature. And this metaphor starts with
- 1:07the tiger being out in the. Wild.
- 1:10And then captured and caged so they've had a taste.
- 1:13Of freedom. And then they've lost it and
- 1:17this one, and it certainly pays the.
- 1:20Client now. There's a couple of ways in
- 1:27which you can handle that. You can accept your fate.
- 1:31In psychology they would call this.
- 1:32Learned helplessness. This is where it's a horrible.
- 1:36Situation but you. Just kind of suck it up and deal
- 1:38with it. And some people find that that.
- 1:42Takes away some. Of the frustrations, some of the
- 1:45feelings of agitation that they just accept their fate.
- 1:50But not everyone's wired that way, and some people have a
- 1:53sense that where there's a will, there's a way, and that they
- 1:56will escape from whatever situation they don't.
- 1:59Want to be in and that could be a job.
- 2:01You don't like it could be a relationship that isn't working.
- 2:04It could be a friendship that's toxic it.
- 2:06Could be living in a physical location.
- 2:09In the world, it could represent anything, and that's why I.
- 2:12Love. Using metaphors, then there is
- 2:15this. Option of them.
- 2:19Moving to a zoo or. Staying in the cage.
- 2:24And this represents that. Sometimes you don't.
- 2:27Always get. What you.
- 2:28Want when you want it, but if you.
- 2:30Frame that delays. Can be used to galvanized your
- 2:35resources that can be quite helpful.
- 2:38Some people get devastated if this.
- 2:41One thing. That they're relying.
- 2:43On doesn't quite work. Then they get really, really
- 2:46disappointed and obviously that's not great.
- 2:49So what this hypnosis session? Does is it?
- 2:53Paces the possibility of either more delays or improvement, but
- 2:59not necessarily the final goal. Now if you.
- 3:03Were a tiger in a cage and suddenly you're in a.
- 3:05Zoo. Or a safari park you've.
- 3:07Got all this space. That would feel.
- 3:09Amazing in contrast, but it still wouldn't be total freedom.
- 3:14And then we've got this. Extra level which is.
- 3:17Escaping from. The zoo now some people wouldn't
- 3:21want to escape. From the zoo.
- 3:22That would be. So much better.
- 3:24Than what they were used to. They would just settle into that
- 3:27environment. But some people.
- 3:29Have a deep seated. Belief that they are.
- 3:31Destined for full. Freedom and this wonderful kind
- 3:35of. Future and this is what this
- 3:37hypnosis session is all about and I think it's the best
- 3:41evolution if. You can go from a really dark
- 3:45horrible. Situation into a wonderful
- 3:47situation and I've shared. This on various podcasts.
- 3:51Where I've been interviewed that one of the reasons why I'm a
- 3:54hypnotherapist is that. I had severe.
- 3:57Social anxiety When I was 19 years old.
- 3:59I was a recluse, probably had depression.
- 4:02I was suicidal. And I don't.
- 4:04Have any of those feelings now and.
- 4:06For me that. Tiny room in.
- 4:09Horrible flats in in Luton. In.
- 4:12Bedfordshire in England. That was my.
- 4:14Cage and I definitely. Am not.
- 4:16I'm not living in that. Cage anymore, but the metaphor
- 4:19works with every different person in every different
- 4:22situation you don't have. To like tigers.
- 4:24Or know about zoos. You just have to identify a.
- 4:28Part of your life that. Feels confining or trapped and
- 4:32not. Where you want it to be.
- 4:35Have an idea what? Progress would be and that
- 4:37progress. Might be a stepping stone into
- 4:40even better things. So it this.
- 4:43Session was created. For a client.
- 4:44But metaphors? Are quite versatile.
- 4:46I think you'll get some value from this if you do like the
- 4:49idea of. Working with me.
- 4:50Directly there will be a link. In the description.
- 4:53But also on my. Website adamcox.co.uk where you
- 4:56can book a. Free consultation call.
- 4:58To explore working with me. For now though, I want you to
- 5:02find a. Quiet.
- 5:03Comfortable. Place the kind of place where
- 5:04you're not. Going to be distracted or
- 5:06disturbed? Relax and.
- 5:08Enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:48you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 5:54relaxation. And as you exhale, feel that
- 6:00wonderful feeling of release, as if any feelings of worry,
- 6:07stress, tension, even frustration starts to feel like
- 6:13it's leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 6:18That's it. And just notice that when you
- 6:22breathe out, you can keep breathing out, elongating the
- 6:28outward breath. And when you breathe in, keep
- 6:33breathing in beyond the chest into the diaphragm, making a
- 6:39shallow breath, a deeper breath, and notice the deeper you
- 6:44breathe. The more relaxed.
- 6:46You feel and the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you
- 6:53breathe. As you become aware of your
- 6:58environment, the temperature in the room, any ambient background
- 7:04sounds, the rate of your breathing and then drift inwards
- 7:15because the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel and
- 7:20the more. Relaxed.
- 7:21You feel the deeper you breathe, and as your body relaxes, your
- 7:30imagination awakens. And I want you to imagine a
- 7:39powerful, elegant, impressive tiger.
- 7:49Just imagine that. That tiger was meant to be
- 7:56roaming around fields, forests in the rural regions of India.
- 8:11And I want you to imagine. Imagine seeing that powerful,
- 8:18capable tiger shot with a tranquilizer gun.
- 8:27See it drifting off and when it awakens, see that powerful tiger
- 8:34in a cage? It has the basics just to keep
- 8:42it alive. Food, water, and maybe just an
- 8:51hour a. Day.
- 8:51To just walk around, but outside of that, it's confined to the
- 8:56cage. I want you to feel the empathy
- 9:01for that tiger. I want you to feel, feel the
- 9:08sense that there is an injustice.
- 9:13This powerful, majestic creature is confined to an environment
- 9:20that it is not suited to. But this Tiger's different.
- 9:30This tiger has a plan. It accepts the confines of the
- 9:39cage, but has not resigned itself to staying in the cage.
- 9:51And many tigers would what psychologists call learned
- 9:56helplessness. And maybe you can identify with
- 10:02accepting the cage, even if it was just for a while.
- 10:08But sometimes there's a wake up call, a thought that says enough
- 10:15is enough. This is not me.
- 10:19I do not belong in the cage. I want you to imagine this tiger
- 10:29has a short term plan and a long term plan.
- 10:38There is a big zoo, modern, full of facilities, trees to climb,
- 10:52the tigers to play with meet every day, and this tiger knows
- 11:01that the head of this zoo is looking to add another tiger for
- 11:06the zoo. Now, this tiger would rather be
- 11:15out in the wild, and yet it knows that the zoo is better
- 11:23than the cage. And I want you to get a sense
- 11:28that connecting with that tiger. But the tiger is smart.
- 11:41The tiger knows that if it pins its hopes and dreams on the zoo,
- 11:49and the head of the zoo chooses another tiger, it could be left
- 11:55feeling deflated, rejected, disappointed.
- 12:02And that's why the tiger is so smart.
- 12:06The tiger has set things up so that whatever happens, it works
- 12:14for them. If they get invited to the zoo,
- 12:20then they adjust to this bigger, more expansive environment.
- 12:27That tightness in their solar plexus dissolves when they have
- 12:31more freedom, more alignment. But the tiger knows that that is
- 12:41outside of their control. This is a stoic tiger.
- 12:49This tiger has already framed things that if it's not possible
- 12:55to go into the zoo, then they will use their time in the cage
- 13:03to increase their resolve to unleash a new level of power
- 13:10within. This tiger would be happy with
- 13:16the zoo, but if it has to stay in the cage for a few more weeks
- 13:23or months, and when it leaves the cage, it's unstoppable.
- 13:33The difference between a normal human and a superhero.
- 13:40Most superheroes go through something dreadful that has a
- 13:45silver lining, that unleashes untold power.
- 13:53The tiger considers this a win win situation.
- 13:59It can escape the cage and live in a wonderful zoo, or it has a
- 14:09moment. A moment that will test the very
- 14:14resolve. And if that tiger can't be
- 14:18broken in that situation, it is unstoppable when it finally
- 14:26leaves the cage. And I want you to imagine.
- 14:31Sooner or later. The tiger does leave the cage
- 14:37and finds itself there in a wonderful zoo.
- 14:45Kind zookeepers, good quality food, lots of space-time to
- 14:53sleep. But for this tiger, this is just
- 15:01a stepping stone. Just as many tigers would accept
- 15:07their fate in the cage, many tigers accept their fate in the
- 15:12zoo. But this tiger perceives the zoo
- 15:19as just a bigger cage, better food, more space, but still a
- 15:27cage. And this tiger craves freedom,
- 15:37and it's quite happy to sacrifice security in order to
- 15:43get that freedom. But this tiger has a plan.
- 15:53When the zookeepers are asleep and when all of the visitors to
- 15:59the zoo have gone home and all the other tigers are sleeping,
- 16:06this tiger is digging a hole slowly, surely, consistently,
- 16:21and they hide that hole behind something innocuous, some
- 16:27branches. They don't know what's on.
- 16:31Nobody else knows, just the tiger.
- 16:38And I want you to imagine no longer watching the tiger but
- 16:41being the tiger. Feel determined, tenacious, full
- 16:51of mental fortitude and self belief.
- 16:56This tiger didn't need someone else to come up with the idea,
- 17:02and this tiger didn't need permission.
- 17:07This tiger didn't need validation to say you're good at
- 17:11digging holes. This tiger did what it needs to
- 17:17do to achieve what it really wants, and I want you to think
- 17:26about what digging a hole would mean in your reality.
- 17:31Consistent chipping away at something that could lead to
- 17:37freedom. It doesn't have to be that
- 17:42you're either in the zoo, in freedom, but with risk because
- 17:50your unconscious already knows that the journey prepares you
- 17:56for the destination. That by escaping the zoo you've
- 18:03already proven that you are capable to exist outside it.
- 18:10Life is full of tests and challenges and most people avoid
- 18:15them. It is those that take the
- 18:18challenges do the different. Some people believe then.
- 18:28If you do. What everyone else is doing,
- 18:30you'll just get what everyone else gets.
- 18:34But if you do what the few? Do then you get the benefits of
- 18:39that elite team that occasionally assemble together
- 18:46and do great things, but you don't need to do it with anyone
- 18:52else. I want you to imagine that as
- 18:56time goes by, it is the vision of life beyond the zoo that
- 19:03keeps you digging the hole. Some people consider it a waste
- 19:08of time, but for you, progress towards the vision and imagine
- 19:17one day all of that digging takes you outside of the
- 19:23perimeter of the zoo. That first moment, your
- 19:33breathing air and it's the same air, but because of it being
- 19:39outside of the zoo, it feels different.
- 19:45There's no zookeepers, no guaranteed meals, no vet if you
- 19:49get sick. But there is freedom.
- 19:54Your choices, your decisions, your failures are yours and your
- 19:59successes are yours. But again, this tiger is smart.
- 20:07What if success and failure? Can still be useful.
- 20:16This taiga believes that you either win or you learn.
- 20:22If things go right, then great, but when they don't, that's an
- 20:29opportunity for reflection, reassessment, re evaluation.
- 20:35And the wisdom extracted from those setbacks means that that
- 20:40tiger gets more and more capable.
- 20:46And I want you to think of a future.
- 20:50A future that represents freedom for you, living life on your
- 20:56terms, knowing that you can always choose to return to the
- 21:01zoo. But it's difficult.
- 21:04To do when freedom feels so good.
- 21:09And I want you to imagine yourself like you're someone
- 21:13else. Maybe a year, 2 years, three
- 21:17years from now. Life beyond the cage and life
- 21:22beyond the zoo. Imagine that version of you with
- 21:27a different, a different aura, a different posture.
- 21:35Perhaps that version of you, perhaps more mentally strong,
- 21:45more self belief, thriving in the absence of other people's
- 21:52structure because a business is structuring your own structure.
- 22:00Some people follow religions, Other people create religions.
- 22:06Some people read stories, other people write stories.
- 22:11Some people remain in the cage or the zoo.
- 22:14Others were meant to live beyond it.
- 22:18And as you get a sense of life beyond the zoo, consider this
- 22:24planting a seed of an idea, not for a possibility, but for a
- 22:32destiny. Give yourself permission to
- 22:39pursue it, because that is the only permission that you need.
- 22:50Imagine this tiger thriving out in the wild, finding its way to
- 23:00the big open spaces that it was missing.
- 23:04All of this time. There was something powerful
- 23:10about being where you belong. And as you hold that thorn,
- 23:17allow your imagination to start floating back to the present,
- 23:22the here and the now. Take a deep breath in through
- 23:25your nose and out through your nose.
- 23:31Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and.
- 23:35Calibrate into the here and the now.
- 23:39As I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you, you will
- 23:44awaken with a slightly evolved outlook, a new level of self
- 23:49belief, a desire to break free from the structure of others and
- 23:56to create your own, needing no one else's permission except
- 24:01your own. Starting to count 123.
- 24:06Waking up 4. 5-6 more. Alert 7-8 Open your eyes.
- 24:11Open your eyes. 910 Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 24:17Wide awake. Thank you.
