- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's been a fun day. And thank you everybody as always,
- 0:06Speaker 1: thank you for listening to us every day. We appreciate
- 0:09Speaker 1: your business. We love you for that. Thank you, Steve,
- 0:12Speaker 1: take us out.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hey, you know my clothes. Remarks about this past weekend.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I went to Academy Sports. Really really nice people in
- 0:22Speaker 2: Academy Sports, and.
- 0:25Speaker 3: It was all it was a day.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It was July third that I went on a Friday,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and I was actually walking through. The people were really nice.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Man.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'd never been there at that Academy Sports, so they were
- 0:33Speaker 2: real happy to have me, to say the least. But
- 0:37Speaker 2: they were nice, very helpful people. Man, had a nice
- 0:39Speaker 2: time walking around and they bought a few things. And
- 0:43Speaker 2: I was leaving and the store manager said, hey, mister Harvey,
- 0:46Speaker 2: thank you for picking our store at the shop, I
- 0:48Speaker 2: said thank you. He said, hey, man, have a happy fourth.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I said, okay. And then there was another guy right
- 0:55Speaker 2: before I was just saying, hey, mister Harvey, happy fourth
- 0:57Speaker 2: at July. And then I went to my truck to
- 0:59Speaker 2: get in my te bet. This black dude, he's a man.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It's an honor to meet you.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Hey, man happy the July and it was just happening everywhere,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and it was I kept thinking of how nice people
- 1:11Speaker 2: were to say that, but I couldn't return it to
- 1:14Speaker 2: them because that's not what I do. I've never really
- 1:17Speaker 2: celebrated the fourth of July ever. I've never understood what
- 1:22Speaker 2: the celebration was for. I understand it's supposed to be
- 1:25Speaker 2: for the birth and the independence of this nation, but
- 1:29Speaker 2: it's just been too many times that I haven't feeled.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I don't get to feel the freedom, I don't get
- 1:35Speaker 2: to partake in the constitution. That constitution has been flawed
- 1:40Speaker 2: for me the entire time I've been here. And I
- 1:42Speaker 2: know a lot of people feel the same way that constitution.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Forty one of the men who wrote that Constitution were
- 1:49Speaker 2: slave owners. I'm just not understanding, you know. I mean,
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'm understanding it. I get it. You know that's what
- 1:59Speaker 2: you were. But it's too many times that I don't
- 2:03Speaker 2: feel a part of it. And even now, man, it
- 2:09Speaker 2: has gotten even worse for me because this is the
- 2:13Speaker 2: two hundred and fiftieth celebration of this nation.
- 2:15Speaker 3: And congratulations. You know. I now here's one thing I do.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I respect your I respect the flag to the point
- 2:24Speaker 2: where I respect the men and women who put the
- 2:28Speaker 2: uniforms on to protect the freedom of that country. I
- 2:33Speaker 2: respect and I really stand for those who put that
- 2:38Speaker 2: uniform on, who left home and didn't come back. So
- 2:44Speaker 2: I have the highest level of respect for these people.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So understand that. And after that, that's where it stops
- 2:52Speaker 2: for me, because after that, I have been in a
- 2:56Speaker 2: constant battle. My sixty nine years has been an the
- 3:00Speaker 2: constant battle of trying to be a part of an
- 3:04Speaker 2: America that don't seem to want me to be a
- 3:06Speaker 2: part of it. I grew up in Welch, West Virginia.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I saw colored only water fountains. I saw colored only restrooms.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I saw Kresky's downtown where blacks couldn't sit at this
- 3:21Speaker 2: lunch counters.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I saw all of this. I saw all of it.
- 3:26Speaker 2: And then today I watched two hundred and fifty white nationalists,
- 3:33Speaker 2: a white supremacist group, march on Washington, DC. I watched
- 3:39Speaker 2: that solo picture of that black woman sitting on that bus,
- 3:43Speaker 2: surrounded by all that hate, and how I.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Only felt one thing.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I wish I was on that bus, not to fight,
- 3:51Speaker 2: because I can't whit Forty fifty men on no bus.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I just wanted to sit on the train. I just
- 3:57Speaker 3: wanted to sit.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Next to her and say, hey, it's okay, you ain't
- 4:00Speaker 2: by yourself. That's all I felt for that picture. But
- 4:03Speaker 2: why I got to feel that? And now we have
- 4:06Speaker 2: an administration that keeps and here's a part that keeps
- 4:10Speaker 2: throwing me. Man, this whole slogan when he ran or
- 4:12Speaker 2: make America great Again. We were wondering from the very beginning,
- 4:18Speaker 2: make America great again for who? When we steady been
- 4:22Speaker 2: fighting to get our fair share? When has it ever
- 4:25Speaker 2: been great? And now we see exactly what they mean
- 4:28Speaker 2: by make America great again? The Civil Rights Voting Act
- 4:32Speaker 2: of nineteen sixty four. They want to do away with it,
- 4:36Speaker 2: Row versus Wade. They want to do away with it.
- 4:38Speaker 2: They want to do away with any statues and museums
- 4:42Speaker 2: that timplify, that exemplify, glorify, or remind them of slavery.
- 4:46Speaker 2: They want to get rid of black history and books.
- 4:48Speaker 2: They want to stop teaching it in schools. They want
- 4:51Speaker 2: to remove anything that reminds them of who their forefathers are,
- 4:56Speaker 2: because it also shows them who they are. If you're
- 5:00Speaker 2: trying to do the same thing, you know, better off
- 5:02Speaker 2: than them. So this whole make America Great Again, This
- 5:06Speaker 2: whole administration, everything they do is designed to put somebody down.
- 5:13Speaker 2: We sitting up in here, we making budget cuts and
- 5:16Speaker 2: all this here you were killing veterans' rights. We thought
- 5:20Speaker 2: DEI was supposed to kill just black people. Oh, but
- 5:23Speaker 2: you forgot DI affected white women. VII affected veterans' rights,
- 5:28Speaker 2: DEI affected disabled people. You just keep forgetting, man, And
- 5:34Speaker 2: we keep allowing this administration to just do what they
- 5:38Speaker 2: want to do. And we sit here, man, where is
- 5:42Speaker 2: the decency? And now we've allowed them to redefine decency.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You're not changing my definition of decency because you're the
- 5:51Speaker 2: president and this is what you're doing now, I'm just watching.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Do you know, man, that snap benefits have been cut?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Do you know seven hundred thousand children are going to
- 6:01Speaker 2: go hungry because they won't have the lunch programs and
- 6:06Speaker 2: the benefit for food that there used to be. What
- 6:10Speaker 2: does make America great again have to do with stopping
- 6:13Speaker 2: seven hundred thousand children from eating? Help me, man, So
- 6:19Speaker 2: while y'all celebrate America, go ahead, but we ain't found
- 6:23Speaker 2: nothing to celebrate yet.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We just haven't.
- 6:27Speaker 2: We've made the best of it. But now we're fighting
- 6:29Speaker 2: uphill again. We're still in the same fight we've been
- 6:32Speaker 2: in since night, since I was born. I'm just growing
- 6:35Speaker 2: a little.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Tired of it.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I just wish y'all could see that. All Right, y'all,
- 6:40Speaker 2: have a great day today. Talk to God.
