- 0:18Speaker 1: I hope you had a great weekend. As we gather
- 0:20Speaker 1: in today for our morning moments with Jesus here on
- 0:23Speaker 1: Aur this is the Life Podcast, as we get ready
- 0:26Speaker 1: for this morning's devotion, I was beginning to think about
- 0:29Speaker 1: busyness and the busyness of life. And I often tell
- 0:33Speaker 1: people when they ask me if I've been busy something
- 0:36Speaker 1: that older gentleman told me many many years ago that
- 0:40Speaker 1: if a person stays steady, they'll rarely be busy. But
- 0:44Speaker 1: there are seasons in our lives, and I've had it,
- 0:48Speaker 1: had such a week last week getting back from Colorado,
- 0:52Speaker 1: when we are very busy in the things that we're doing.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So the Lord kind of pulled me over a little
- 0:57Speaker 1: bit this morning, or actually over the weekend, and we
- 1:01Speaker 1: really began to I've really began to think about and
- 1:03Speaker 1: meditate on that when a time, there's times in our
- 1:08Speaker 1: lives were busy, but when busy isn't productive. And the
- 1:14Speaker 1: key scripture this morning that the Lord brings us to
- 1:16Speaker 1: is Luke chapter ten, particularly in verse forty one forty two,
- 1:19Speaker 1: when we're talking about Mary and Martha and when Jesus
- 1:23Speaker 1: came to their house and Jesus said it says this
- 1:26Speaker 1: he said, And Jesus answered and said, unto her, Martha,
- 1:29Speaker 1: Martha thou art careful and troubled about many things, but
- 1:34Speaker 1: one thing is needful, and Mary had chosen that good
- 1:39Speaker 1: part which shall not be taken away from her. Now
- 1:45Speaker 1: there is a difference between being busy and being productive.
- 1:50Speaker 1: We can feel every hour of the day, we can
- 1:53Speaker 1: answer every message, finish every task, run every errand and
- 1:57Speaker 1: take care of everybody else, fall into bed exhausted, and
- 2:02Speaker 1: still wonder what we actually accomplished that day. You ever
- 2:06Speaker 1: been there, See, because what happens is movement doesn't always
- 2:11Speaker 1: mean progress. Just because we're actively moving and doing things
- 2:16Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily were productive at that moment. See, Martha was moving,
- 2:21Speaker 1: she was serving, she was working, and there was nothing
- 2:24Speaker 1: necessarily wrong with what she was doing. The problem was
- 2:30Speaker 1: that her activity had become a distraction from what mattered
- 2:34Speaker 1: most in that moment. That's important in that moment, See,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Jesus said, Martha, and Martha thou art careful and troubled. Careful,
- 2:44Speaker 1: They're being anxious and troubled about many things. So it's
- 2:49Speaker 1: important to understand this that Jesus wasn't saying that what
- 2:54Speaker 1: she was troubled. She was troubled about many things all
- 2:58Speaker 1: the time, just at that particular moment. I think many
- 3:02Speaker 1: of us understand that feeling. Sometimes we stay so busy
- 3:06Speaker 1: doing good things that we don't have time for the
- 3:09Speaker 1: best things in life. Sometimes we can even become so
- 3:13Speaker 1: busy doing things for God that we neglect simply spending
- 3:17Speaker 1: time with God. And here's something worth thinking about today.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I thought about this, and the Lord just really impressed
- 3:24Speaker 1: on me to share this this morning. Not everything that
- 3:27Speaker 1: gets your attention deserves your attention wants you to think
- 3:32Speaker 1: about that all day long. Not everything that gets your
- 3:34Speaker 1: attention deserves your attention. Some things feel urgent simply because
- 3:40Speaker 1: they are the loudest or the most visible. At the
- 3:43Speaker 1: moment the phone rings, the notification sounds, someone needs something,
- 3:47Speaker 1: another responsibility gets added to your list, and before long,
- 3:52Speaker 1: we are reacting to everything around us instead of intentionally
- 3:57Speaker 1: living the life God is placed before us. Mary chose
- 4:02Speaker 1: differently in this situation. She sat at the feet of Jesus.
- 4:07Speaker 1: She understood that sometimes the most productive thing that we
- 4:10Speaker 1: can do is to stop moving long enough to hear
- 4:15Speaker 1: what God is trying to speak to us. Maybe productivity
- 4:19Speaker 1: isn't always getting more done. Maybe sometimes it's about making
- 4:25Speaker 1: sure we are doing what exactly matters the most at
- 4:28Speaker 1: that moment. So before you feel empty spaces in your
- 4:33Speaker 1: day to day, ask the Lord, this is this something
- 4:36Speaker 1: you want me to do? Or is this simply something
- 4:39Speaker 1: I have allowed myself to become busy doing. There will
- 4:45Speaker 1: always be another task Church, There will always be something
- 4:49Speaker 1: that needs to be done, and most of those things
- 4:53Speaker 1: may be very important. But there are moments with God,
- 4:57Speaker 1: moments with family, moments of rest, moments of ref and
- 5:01Speaker 1: yes even moments for yourself that you cannot recover once
- 5:06Speaker 1: they've passed. Shore to day. Don't measure your day simply
- 5:11Speaker 1: by how much you accomplish. Measure it by whether you
- 5:15Speaker 1: gave your time and attention to what mattered most today.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Sometimes slowing down can be how God gets us moving
- 5:24Speaker 1: in the right direction. So today you be safe, you
- 5:29Speaker 1: be strong, and you be blessed. And before you get
- 5:32Speaker 1: too busy, make sure you're productive. Lords will will see
- 5:37Speaker 1: you back here again tomorrow, and until then, have a
- 5:42Speaker 1: great day.
