Transcript
- 0:18Speaker 1: I don't think there's gonna be a whole lot of whole,
- 0:19Speaker 1: you know, a bunch of changes. Stematically, we just have
- 0:23Speaker 1: to put our players, you know, in the best situations,
- 0:28Speaker 1: meaning take their strengths and utilize that.
- 0:31Speaker 2: In the gameplay.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Welcome into jag Van this morning. A lot of changes.
- 0:37Speaker 3: We weren't sure what the changes were going to be,
- 0:39Speaker 3: but we'll start out with big thing number one, which
- 0:41Speaker 3: is a big change. Brian reports out now that Cam
- 0:44Speaker 3: Robinson being traded away. That means Walker Little is going
- 0:47Speaker 3: to be the starting left tackle going forward. What are
- 0:49Speaker 3: your media thoughts.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Well, it just makes too much sense, right, I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 4: Cam is at the very end of his Jaguars career.
- 0:53Speaker 4: There were nine games left in the regular season for him,
- 0:56Speaker 4: and you've got behind him Walker Little, a player that
- 0:59Speaker 4: you drafted in twenty one expecting someday he would become
- 1:02Speaker 4: the starter. Well some days now you have nine games
- 1:05Speaker 4: to evaluate him to see if he's your guy going
- 1:08Speaker 4: into twenty twenty five and beyond. They had to bench
- 1:10Speaker 4: Cam in favor of Walker because you need to find
- 1:13Speaker 4: out about Walker and if the Vikings are offering what's
- 1:16Speaker 4: reported a fifth that could become a fourth you had
- 1:19Speaker 4: to take that. Anything better than a seven, you had
- 1:22Speaker 4: to take that.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Yeah, Unfortunately, it's time. I keep getting questions about fire sale.
- 1:27Speaker 5: I don't know how to define a fire sale, but
- 1:29Speaker 5: I know Roy Robinson Harrison left two weeks ago and
- 1:32Speaker 5: Cam Robinson left.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Look, it's it's not a happy day. Cam was a
- 1:38Speaker 5: good player for this team for a long time. I
- 1:40Speaker 5: liked Cam a lot, but as Brian said, at some point,
- 1:44Speaker 5: you have to fear out what your future is and
- 1:46Speaker 5: get value for a guy that you're ninety nine point
- 1:49Speaker 5: nine nine nine percent sure is not going to be
- 1:50Speaker 5: here next year.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Well, in appreciation for him, he's the last guy who
- 1:53Speaker 4: played for Doug Moro, and he was the last guy
- 1:55Speaker 4: who was here when Tom Cofflin was here, and he
- 1:57Speaker 4: talked about it at length when Tom Cofflin was inducted
- 1:59Speaker 4: in the Pride of the Jaguars.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Kai.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I mean, he's a guy with some perspective, has seeing
- 2:03Speaker 4: big winning seasons and endured his share of unfortunate You
- 2:07Speaker 4: hate to see a guy go, but he was going
- 2:08Speaker 4: to go anyway. If you can get something for him,
- 2:11Speaker 4: it makes too much sense.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Certainly, be a different locker room because Cam has been
- 2:14Speaker 3: here for such a long time. So we'll have a
- 2:16Speaker 3: little bit more on this as the day goes along,
- 2:18Speaker 3: and hopefully more for you on jag XAM tomorrow morning.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Our second big thing today is going to be about ready,
- 2:23Speaker 3: Set Go. The team has started slow all season long,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and that's something the team has addressed and they talked
- 2:28Speaker 3: about they have to deal with going forward.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Had a good start first down, you know, we're what
- 2:34Speaker 1: a six seven hour completion now on first down to
- 2:36Speaker 1: tank and then two any completions, I mean, those are
- 2:39Speaker 1: just things we've got to continue to look at. And
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know, it's just it's just that execution part, right
- 2:47Speaker 1: and then as coach is making the decisions and the
- 2:50Speaker 1: type of calls that we're making, and you know, just
- 2:52Speaker 1: look at it and make sure we're doing the right
- 2:54Speaker 1: thing there. And but again, you know, it took us
- 3:00Speaker 1: into the second quarter against New England to get going,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and it took us about to the fourteenth play of
- 3:05Speaker 1: this game, you know, to get us going. So you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: that's something we've got to look at and really make
- 3:10Speaker 1: an emphasis of, you know, starting like the way we
- 3:14Speaker 1: finish that would be that would be ideal.
- 3:19Speaker 2: You know, as we move forward John.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It would be really ideal if they could pick up
- 3:22Speaker 3: where they left off in the fourth quarter of the
- 3:24Speaker 3: last game, at least on offense. But how do they
- 3:26Speaker 3: actually get that done?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Well?
- 3:28Speaker 5: Conceptually, when you script early, a lot of times you're
- 3:32Speaker 5: looking and trying to figure out, Okay, what works against
- 3:34Speaker 5: this defense. If they're gonna play this, how do we
- 3:38Speaker 5: counter that? So it can be a little bit of
- 3:40Speaker 5: a test for the rest of the game. That being said,
- 3:44Speaker 5: you don't want to test and then have it be
- 3:46Speaker 5: the middle of the second quarter before you do anything.
- 3:48Speaker 5: So I wonder, Brian, if you don't try to I
- 3:51Speaker 5: hate when people always say, well, the solution is to
- 3:53Speaker 5: go up tempo. It's hard to go up tempo early
- 3:56Speaker 5: if that's what that's what you are. But get Trevor
- 3:59Speaker 5: going downfield, get to pocket a little bit, get him
- 4:01Speaker 5: playing loose, because that's how he's played well the last
- 4:04Speaker 5: few weeks, and I think historically.
- 4:05Speaker 2: That's how he plays well.
- 4:06Speaker 4: You know, I think you're talking about layups, giving him
- 4:08Speaker 4: some easy throws, some off tempo, some up tempo. However
- 4:12Speaker 4: you want to say it, maybe it's no huddle. Listen,
- 4:15Speaker 4: the last two games you had five plays and twenty
- 4:18Speaker 4: five yards in London, and you had in the first quarter,
- 4:21Speaker 4: and you had fifteen yards on I think six plays
- 4:25Speaker 4: against the Packers. You've got to do something different, try
- 4:28Speaker 4: something different. Press Taylor and his team will try to
- 4:31Speaker 4: figure that out this week. But you know, make it easy,
- 4:34Speaker 4: which is easy to say and not quite as easy
- 4:37Speaker 4: to do.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Absolutely easier said than done. Our final big thing today
- 4:40Speaker 3: is going to be defensive dilemma. We've seen a lot
- 4:41Speaker 3: of issues on defense obviously late in the game against
- 4:44Speaker 3: the Packers as well. Whether we'll see scheme changes or
- 4:47Speaker 3: personnel changes, not quite sure just yet.
- 4:50Speaker 1: This is the scheme, is it the execution by the players?
- 4:53Speaker 1: You know, I would say it's a little both right now,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and look bottom line sometimes and I'm not saying this
- 5:02Speaker 1: is the this is the case, but you know, you
- 5:04Speaker 1: don't want to do too much on the field, right
- 5:06Speaker 1: You don't want to take things into your own hands
- 5:08Speaker 1: and think you got to do somebody else.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Just do your Just ask you to do your job.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Coaches, coach, players play all that, but just do your
- 5:15Speaker 1: job and and and we'll be fine. And when the
- 5:20Speaker 1: when you see the good out there, that's what's happening.
- 5:23Speaker 1: All eleven are playing is one. But but sometimes there's
- 5:28Speaker 1: you know, every now and then you get the one
- 5:29Speaker 1: guy that you know maybe's out of his gap or
- 5:33Speaker 1: does something a little bit different or forgott an assignment
- 5:36Speaker 1: or something like that, and it hurts.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Us Ran It's been tangeful at times to watch the defense.
- 5:44Speaker 3: He's talking about kind of playing your role and not
- 5:46Speaker 3: going outside of your job. Is it just that simple?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Is it about simplifying things?
- 5:49Speaker 4: Well, this week, I think it's really simple. I think
- 5:51Speaker 4: it's about the front seven. Because Saquon Barkley is on
- 5:54Speaker 4: a tear the last two games one hundred and seventy
- 5:57Speaker 4: six yards against the Giants. He could have had his
- 5:59Speaker 4: career best that day, one hundred and eight yards last
- 6:01Speaker 4: week when they beat the Bengals, and when you combine
- 6:03Speaker 4: him with Jalen Hurts in that offensive line. Look, if
- 6:06Speaker 4: the Jaguars play the run as poorly as they did
- 6:10Speaker 4: the run against the Packers, they don't have to worry
- 6:13Speaker 4: about the back end because the Eagles are not gonna
- 6:15Speaker 4: stop running the ball. This is about guys up front
- 6:17Speaker 4: in their gaps and then wrapping up and making tackles.
- 6:20Speaker 4: They didn't tackle very well. They didn't play the run
- 6:23Speaker 4: very well. They better do that a lot better against
- 6:25Speaker 4: the Eagles on Sunday.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's a chance this week they get
- 6:29Speaker 5: Dewey back that could help in terms of awareness back there.
- 6:34Speaker 5: I don't want to sit here and tell people watching
- 6:36Speaker 5: this that I think they're all of a sudden gonna
- 6:38Speaker 5: start covering better because they haven't covered well all year.
- 6:41Speaker 5: I kind of agree with what Brian said. He got
- 6:42Speaker 5: stop the run, and then when you get pass rushing
- 6:45Speaker 5: opportunities against this team, you have to contain Jalen Hurts
- 6:48Speaker 5: and you have to get some rush from the interiors
- 6:49Speaker 5: they haven't had until they get better pass rush. You know,
- 6:54Speaker 5: I'm not sure it matters what they do.
- 6:55Speaker 2: In the back end.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I'll have to see what that will exactly be in
- 6:59Speaker 3: terms of changes. Say, with us here on jagsam, we'll
- 7:01Speaker 3: do a little bit of this or that as to
- 7:02Speaker 3: what some changes we think might be. Welcome back to
- 7:16Speaker 3: jag zamb brought to you in part by Field's Auto,
- 7:18Speaker 3: Jacksonville's premier luxury auto group. We can head over to
- 7:20Speaker 3: Fields Auto dot com.
- 7:22Speaker 5: This Oh, that's this school.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Welcome back into Jagzam. We're doing a little this or that.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Normally in this segment we talk about the offensive line,
- 7:35Speaker 3: maybe Walker Little or Cam Robinson, but that decision has
- 7:38Speaker 3: apparently been made already. So when we look at the
- 7:40Speaker 3: offensive line, let's just talk about this overall to kind
- 7:42Speaker 3: of start things off. Do you still feel good about
- 7:45Speaker 3: the depth of the offensive line? A lot of what
- 7:47Speaker 3: we were seeing, you know, consistency. We talked about having
- 7:50Speaker 3: the same five players out there now with Walker in
- 7:52Speaker 3: the mix, do we think we'll see the same thing. Also,
- 7:54Speaker 3: we don't really know whether as or Cleveland will be
- 7:56Speaker 3: able to go either.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, the depth is going to be tested now.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Obviously you had three guys that you were comfortable with
- 8:01Speaker 4: a tackle and Walker was a swing guy and now
- 8:05Speaker 4: he's gone. Well Cam has gone, so Walker's there, and
- 8:08Speaker 4: this week you're probably gonna have Cooper Hodges playing with
- 8:11Speaker 4: Ezra Cleveland injured. So where's your depth come from? You
- 8:16Speaker 4: don't have a whole lot.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Yeah, depth, Van Lannon, right, depth is depth until it's gone.
- 8:22Speaker 5: And now it's gone. So that was sort of a
- 8:25Speaker 5: luxury at the start. It was a luxury that a
- 8:29Speaker 5: contending team needs. It's a luxury that a team that's
- 8:33Speaker 5: two and six can't afford. So now you have to
- 8:35Speaker 5: find out if you have depth. Cole Van Lannon supposedly
- 8:39Speaker 5: had the greatest preseason in NFL history, and I'm kidding
- 8:44Speaker 5: about that because it got so over hyped. But he
- 8:46Speaker 5: had a great hit, a really good preseason. Now he
- 8:49Speaker 5: needs to be your death. Need to find out if
- 8:50Speaker 5: he can be your death going forward. You know, if
- 8:54Speaker 5: if you can get him in, if you like him,
- 8:57Speaker 5: then all of a sudden, your dynamic changes in the offseason.
- 8:59Speaker 2: So there's stories like that we'll see.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Well, two other names to consider in this conversation too.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Blake Hanson is a guy who's been around for a
- 9:07Speaker 4: couple of years and he had to start in Cleveland
- 9:09Speaker 4: last year and even had to move out and play
- 9:11Speaker 4: and tackle. They kept him obviously because they thought that
- 9:14Speaker 4: he had upside, and maybe he does. They brought him
- 9:17Speaker 4: up from the practice squad yesterday and the other guy's
- 9:20Speaker 4: Javon Foster, their fourth round picked from Missouri, who Tony
- 9:22Speaker 4: Bisselli thought had the feet to play at this level.
- 9:25Speaker 4: So you know, he's a guy with long arms. He
- 9:28Speaker 4: played in the Southeastern Conference. He's got the body to
- 9:31Speaker 4: play tackle. Well, you know, perhaps we'll see him active
- 9:33Speaker 4: in coming days or weeks. Fourth round pick is a
- 9:37Speaker 4: guy you expect to eventually become a key contributor.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, so to wonder when that happens. You know, you're
- 9:42Speaker 5: two and six. I don't think you're throw in the
- 9:43Speaker 5: towel right now. You're closed, the towels in your hand,
- 9:47Speaker 5: ready to throw. But at some point you do wonder
- 9:51Speaker 5: do you figure out what Cole of Atlanta and Javon
- 9:55Speaker 5: Foster are because you need to know for the off
- 9:57Speaker 5: season what that means. I mean, if those guys can play,
- 10:01Speaker 5: it dramatically changes what you.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Have to do in the off season.
- 10:04Speaker 4: And we have to watch Brandon Sheriff, who left the
- 10:05Speaker 4: game last week with injury. He came back in, but
- 10:08Speaker 4: he's an older guy who's played and gutted out some
- 10:10Speaker 4: injuries in recent seasons. Kai you hope he can continue
- 10:14Speaker 4: to do that, but you can't count on it.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You can't.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And it's good to see. At this point, we mentioned
- 10:19Speaker 3: to see what you actually have on your roster. So
- 10:21Speaker 3: we're gonna see what we have in terms of wide
- 10:23Speaker 3: receivers because Chrishkan Kirk has been lost to the year.
- 10:25Speaker 3: He had a surgery on his collarbone broken collarbone. We
- 10:28Speaker 3: do know Brian Thomas Junior much more favorable outcome. He
- 10:31Speaker 3: had a clear MRI, just a pain tolerance issue. It's
- 10:33Speaker 3: a contusion on his side, so he could possibly be
- 10:36Speaker 3: available this week, but if not this week, it's not
- 10:38Speaker 3: a long term issue. But that means there's a spot
- 10:41Speaker 3: on the offense that needs to be filled rightfully. So
- 10:43Speaker 3: I'm sure Parker Washington will kind of play that slot
- 10:46Speaker 3: receiver role. But this to that is a little bit
- 10:48Speaker 3: about the two Penn State guys Parker Washington and Brenton
- 10:51Speaker 3: Strange and soon Brenton Strange involved in the offense so
- 10:53Speaker 3: far this season as his playing time increased with Evan
- 10:56Speaker 3: Ingram out and now with an extra kind of person
- 10:59Speaker 3: to fill in on the offense, who do you think benefits.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Most from it? But I think Parker will because I'm
- 11:04Speaker 5: not sure that Brenton's role unless there's one more injury
- 11:08Speaker 5: wide receiver changes significantly. Now He's looked better and better
- 11:13Speaker 5: and I think he's earning more in the offense outside
- 11:17Speaker 5: of what's going on at receiver. But if Parker Washington,
- 11:20Speaker 5: he's flashed enough and done enough really positive things to
- 11:25Speaker 5: make you really wonder if he can do it, if
- 11:29Speaker 5: he can raise it and not just do it on occasion,
- 11:32Speaker 5: Can he be Trevor's guy.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I think that's what he's working toward.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Ryn I do, and I'll throw a name out there.
- 11:37Speaker 4: He's on injured reserve right now, but I think he
- 11:39Speaker 4: can come back after this next week. That's Stevin Duvernet,
- 11:41Speaker 4: who is a guy who is a Pro Bowl return man.
- 11:44Speaker 2: But they hoped he would.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Be able to take a role in the offense and
- 11:47Speaker 4: if they have continued issues at wide receiver over time,
- 11:51Speaker 4: maybe they find a way to get him involved when
- 11:53Speaker 4: he gets back as well. I'm a big fan of
- 11:55Speaker 4: Brenton Strange. It showed last week when they moved down
- 11:59Speaker 4: the field. Guy. He plays the whistle on every play, block, catch,
- 12:04Speaker 4: doesn't matter, He'll do whatever you ask. I think the
- 12:07Speaker 4: combination of him and Evan Ingram, if used correctly, could
- 12:12Speaker 4: be a nice one two combo that could maybe keep
- 12:15Speaker 4: I keep going back to the days when the Patriots
- 12:18Speaker 4: have the two tight ends, right, the one who shall
- 12:20Speaker 4: not be named, but the other one Gronkowski, right, and
- 12:24Speaker 4: they got a lot of mileage out of the two
- 12:26Speaker 4: tight ends because they were very creative that year. It's
- 12:29Speaker 4: been a long time, but I keep thinking, if you
- 12:32Speaker 4: have to, you can use those two guys in combination,
- 12:34Speaker 4: and Doug.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Certainly utilized tight ends and his time in Philly as well.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And I've just been impressed with the amount of trust
- 12:39Speaker 3: that Brenton's strange has already kind of garnered from all
- 12:42Speaker 3: of his teammates and Trevor as.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Every time he thrown the ball and makes a p
- 12:46Speaker 5: so at some point that becomes mescle memory for a quarterback,
- 12:49Speaker 5: and it's starting to happen with Trevor.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I'm just not sure that with Parker.
- 12:55Speaker 5: I think he can fill Christian's role enough that I
- 12:57Speaker 5: don't know that they have to automatically change to an
- 13:00Speaker 5: all twelve personnel.
- 13:02Speaker 2: All the time in this offense.
- 13:03Speaker 5: I think Parker Washington it's gonna be interesting to me
- 13:07Speaker 5: to see how well he plays. He has shown he
- 13:09Speaker 5: may be able to be really good, but in this
- 13:11Speaker 5: league you have to do it over consistent time when
- 13:16Speaker 5: you have an opportunity like this.
- 13:17Speaker 4: I can add because I talked to him last week
- 13:19Speaker 4: for radio, that he's confident in his ability to take
- 13:22Speaker 4: that next step. It's not like this is too big
- 13:24Speaker 4: for him he played at Penn State.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I think a lot of the second year players we've
- 13:27Speaker 3: been seeing stepping up this year, and hopefully he's the
- 13:29Speaker 3: next one to do that. Let's look to the defensive
- 13:31Speaker 3: side of the ball. We've been hearing about dew we
- 13:34Speaker 3: working his way back. He's had his practice window activated,
- 13:37Speaker 3: possibly could be activated to active roster this week. Do
- 13:40Speaker 3: we see him as a starter right out of the gate?
- 13:42Speaker 3: Has he been out long enough with his injury severe
- 13:44Speaker 3: enough that he'll be worked back in. We've seen such
- 13:48Speaker 3: interesting play from the safety so far this year that
- 13:51Speaker 3: I think a lot of people would love to see
- 13:52Speaker 3: you out there for every play. But is he ready
- 13:54Speaker 3: to do that much?
- 13:54Speaker 2: I can.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I can understand why they might want to, because he
- 13:57Speaker 4: was a guy who was having a really good camp
- 13:58Speaker 4: and he's grown. I mean, there was a time when
- 14:00Speaker 4: he was a special teams player and a sub package guy.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Only I would be cautious because he's coming back from
- 14:06Speaker 4: a pretty good injury and I'll never forget in twenty
- 14:09Speaker 4: twenty two, the back to back games where he was
- 14:12Speaker 4: the impact player in the fourth quarter in sub packages
- 14:15Speaker 4: against the Ravens and against the Cowboys. I would play
- 14:18Speaker 4: to his strength until he is full strength, we'll see.
- 14:22Speaker 5: My guess is what will happened to do is what
- 14:24Speaker 5: happens is what I always happened to do. It they'll
- 14:27Speaker 5: work is they'll work him back in slowly, and then
- 14:30Speaker 5: he'll make a play in every game that he plays
- 14:33Speaker 5: until he forces his way into the starting line up.
- 14:35Speaker 5: So that's usually his m He's an aware player. Look,
- 14:41Speaker 5: he and Foyer and Ventre Miller to me are the
- 14:45Speaker 5: guys that have what this team has lacked too much,
- 14:48Speaker 5: which is an awareness to make plays in the moment.
- 14:51Speaker 5: And I think he'll he'll force his way back in.
- 14:53Speaker 5: He'll probably give one up, but then he'll get a
- 14:55Speaker 5: pick where you go, we gotta play this guy, listen.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Don't forget he was this team's best specialty, aames performer before.
- 15:01Speaker 2: He got hurt.
- 15:01Speaker 4: So there's probably a very interesting give and take conversation
- 15:04Speaker 4: between Heath Farwell and Ryan Nielsen about how much and who,
- 15:08Speaker 4: because you know the teams wants him back.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Also, absolutely stay with us here on jag Zam. Coming up,
- 15:12Speaker 3: we'll talk about a little bit what's going on in.
- 15:14Speaker 5: The AFC South.
- 15:23Speaker 3: For eleven years, Dreamfinders Homes have been proud to call
- 15:26Speaker 3: themselves the official home builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars is
- 15:28Speaker 3: a dreamfinders' homes dot com for all of the available
- 15:31Speaker 3: inventory and Go Jags, Welcome back into jag Zam. We're
- 15:36Speaker 3: gonna look around the AFC South a little bit, see
- 15:39Speaker 3: what's going on with everybody else and some of the
- 15:40Speaker 3: opponents that we're going to be taking on. Titans and
- 15:43Speaker 3: Lines played each other and it was an absolute blow.
- 15:45Speaker 3: The Lions looked like super Bowl bound at this point.
- 15:48Speaker 3: It's just been so impressive what they've been able to
- 15:50Speaker 3: do with the rebuild there and just the offense as well.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I know they had some favorable field positioning because of
- 15:56Speaker 3: special teams, but just such an impressive team.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Yeah, and the Dragons are there in two weeks or
- 16:01Speaker 4: three thanks coming up. Yeah, boy, they're gonna have to
- 16:05Speaker 4: figure things out because the Lions have a passing attack,
- 16:09Speaker 4: which Eric Goff who was you know, cast aside by
- 16:12Speaker 4: the Rams a few years ago, and he's really turned
- 16:14Speaker 4: himself into a top level quarterback. The Titans are a
- 16:18Speaker 4: team that are in transition, John, I mean, they played
- 16:20Speaker 4: bully ball for so long and they had a specific
- 16:23Speaker 4: way that they beat you and Brian Callahan comes in
- 16:26Speaker 4: and that they've got to change that. And that means
- 16:28Speaker 4: different players at different positions and a different mindset. And
- 16:31Speaker 4: clearly they're trading players away. They're saying, this is a
- 16:35Speaker 4: year that we figure out who can do it, and
- 16:38Speaker 4: next year is a year that we find players who can.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and you wonder where they're at with quarterback. I
- 16:42Speaker 5: mean there's rumors or the Will Levis. You're not sure
- 16:44Speaker 5: what's gonna happen there. They came in and they're trying
- 16:47Speaker 5: to figure out who they are. Haven't figured that out yet.
- 16:52Speaker 5: You know, I don't really know where they go. I
- 16:55Speaker 5: don't know what their identity will be, but I expect
- 16:58Speaker 5: they'll figure it out before the end the year and
- 17:01Speaker 5: have some direction after this year.
- 17:03Speaker 2: And that's what Tennessee's task.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Is sure is now when we look to the Colts
- 17:07Speaker 3: and Texans, Texans getting another win, they're still top the division,
- 17:10Speaker 3: of course, but the Colts coming down yesterday that they're
- 17:12Speaker 3: going to be benching Anthony Richardson. This is after he
- 17:16Speaker 3: tapped himself out of the game the other day because
- 17:19Speaker 3: he was winded. And I open up Pandora's box with
- 17:22Speaker 3: you guys but have you ever seen that before?
- 17:25Speaker 5: Well, for that reason, I haven't, and it's I guess
- 17:29Speaker 5: it's part of.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:33Speaker 5: I'm not sure what to say about it.
- 17:35Speaker 3: I don't think anyone has had an answer for it.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's I guess he had run three
- 17:40Speaker 5: straight plays, and there is a school of thought you
- 17:44Speaker 5: want to be able to give your best if you're
- 17:46Speaker 5: on the field, So let's give him the benefit of
- 17:48Speaker 5: the doubt there. I would think if I'm the coach,
- 17:51Speaker 5: that a change is more because of the accuracy issues.
- 17:55Speaker 5: And I if I'm a coach, I don't necessarily change
- 17:59Speaker 5: because of that play. I change if I'm concerned that
- 18:02Speaker 5: Joe Flacco is a better option for me to win.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Clearly they think that.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Anthony Richardson Brian, the story on him coming out was
- 18:11Speaker 5: not very much experience, not very much accuracy when he played,
- 18:16Speaker 5: and it was a huge project. And as we've talked
- 18:20Speaker 5: about in the NFL, it's tough to give a guy
- 18:24Speaker 5: thirty games. That's that's two seasons. That's a huge chunk
- 18:28Speaker 5: of your franchise development. It's hard to give guys that
- 18:32Speaker 5: kind of developmental time.
- 18:34Speaker 2: He's games, right, Rookie year.
- 18:38Speaker 5: It's only ten, but it feels like I'm sure for
- 18:40Speaker 5: Colts people, it feels like forever already.
- 18:42Speaker 2: So it's the point.
- 18:43Speaker 5: It's hard, Uh, these guys who come out without much experience,
- 18:47Speaker 5: it's hard to give them the time on task to
- 18:50Speaker 5: become what they need to be. And that's the that's
- 18:53Speaker 5: the element of the culture in right now.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Listen, he is Cam Newton physically. I mean he's this
- 18:58Speaker 4: incredibly give did physical specimen. The throw that he made
- 19:02Speaker 4: an opening day, falling backwards sixty five yards into the
- 19:05Speaker 4: end zone.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Not many guys can make that throw.
- 19:08Speaker 4: But most quarterbacks can stand in the pocket and distribute
- 19:11Speaker 4: the ball on time, which is what the rules are
- 19:14Speaker 4: designed for. Quarterback stays in the pocket, they don't get hit.
- 19:16Speaker 4: This guy gets hit all the time, and that's why
- 19:18Speaker 4: he's only played in ten games. He can't stay healthy.
- 19:20Speaker 2: He was a big.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Project coming out, that was the word on him. Turns
- 19:24Speaker 4: out it's more like a massive project to get him
- 19:27Speaker 4: comfortable in the modern NFL. And if they're going to
- 19:30Speaker 4: sit him down, how do you come back from that?
- 19:32Speaker 5: Well, he may be one of these guys and you're
- 19:34Speaker 5: starting to see it a little bit, and I think
- 19:36Speaker 5: it's going to play out over the next five years.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Sam Donold Baker mayfield a golf to a degree, guys
- 19:45Speaker 5: who go on to next teams because these guys come
- 19:49Speaker 5: out in college right now, and it's a different game
- 19:52Speaker 5: college in the NFL. So these quarterbacks who are thrown in,
- 19:56Speaker 5: they're learning on the fly. Teams gave up on him.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Now you're seeing guys in the their second career become
- 20:01Speaker 5: really good. I think you're gonna see a trend to
- 20:03Speaker 5: that because I don't think people realize what different games
- 20:05Speaker 5: they are.
- 20:06Speaker 4: By the way, the Texans losing Steffan Diggs to the
- 20:08Speaker 4: torn Aco is bigger than a lot.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Of people might think.
- 20:10Speaker 4: They say, well, it's just Tank Dell and Nico Collins
- 20:13Speaker 4: and then you've got the tied end that makes so
- 20:14Speaker 4: many plays. But if you were called the game the
- 20:16Speaker 4: Jaguars played, he was the guy that was the most
- 20:19Speaker 4: difficult to account for because he could do so many
- 20:22Speaker 4: different things.
- 20:24Speaker 2: No, I'm not saying anyone's going to catch them. I
- 20:26Speaker 2: don't think. You know, maybe the Colts do because they're closer.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But it's just it's interesting.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I thought that was a sneaky, great pickup in the
- 20:34Speaker 4: offseason for them. Veteran guy who can get down the field,
- 20:37Speaker 4: they can run him on a sweep.
- 20:38Speaker 2: He was really.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Difficult for the Jaguars to coral and I remember thinking
- 20:42Speaker 4: where is he on every play? With him not there,
- 20:45Speaker 4: it does bring them down a notch from where they were.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Stayle's here on Jagsam coming up. We will tell you
- 20:51Speaker 3: what's going on the rest of the week. Jags fans,
- 20:57Speaker 3: if you want to customize the Jaguars furniture for your home,
- 20:59Speaker 3: check got to dot com to browse all the custom
- 21:01Speaker 3: misable options. Zip chair is furniture for fans.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And I'm going look at the first chuck.
- 21:10Speaker 4: It down at nine crush here on Lawrence he throws
- 21:13Speaker 4: c H check jaqu wars course down.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah a Kirk yeah krk jack a down at five.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Lawrence throws ain't so jock us touchdown.
- 21:29Speaker 2: That's your rookie.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Junior miked up. You may think he is quiet.
- 21:38Speaker 3: He is not quiet on the field. They can promise
- 21:40Speaker 3: you that. So you're gonna want to check out that
- 21:41Speaker 3: micd up. Absolutely, he was miked up against the Packers.
- 21:43Speaker 2: It was a good one, you know. Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 21:47Speaker 4: And malite neighbors were top picks, uh and and are
- 21:50Speaker 4: playing very well, but they're not playing better than him.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Who the jag Wars got in the bottom third of
- 21:56Speaker 4: the first round. I mean, what a great pick. And
- 21:58Speaker 4: I'll be honest, at the time, I thought it was
- 21:59Speaker 4: a luxury pick. I thought they needed to address the
- 22:02Speaker 4: offensive line. And it turns out that.
- 22:04Speaker 2: This kid is as good a rookie as there is
- 22:06Speaker 2: playing this year.
- 22:07Speaker 3: And they traded down and still got their guy.
- 22:08Speaker 5: So yeah. He encouraging thing for me is I'm not
- 22:12Speaker 5: sure he's figured anything out yet.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 2: He pure challenge and his.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Football instincts and his ability to do special things. See it,
- 22:23Speaker 5: He's a football player and they need more of these
- 22:25Speaker 5: around it.
- 22:26Speaker 4: When Jimmy Smith was here for the Colts game for
- 22:28Speaker 4: the Pride of the Jaguars induction for Tom Kaughlin, he
- 22:31Speaker 4: marveled at how good he was. And you know, Jimmy
- 22:34Speaker 4: doesn't throw compliments out about wide receivers very.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Often, but thought this kid was incredibly special.
- 22:40Speaker 4: He is the heir to Jimmy Smith, almost twenty years
- 22:45Speaker 4: after Jimmy Smith left.
- 22:46Speaker 3: The game to see, hopefully that comes true. John, who
- 22:48Speaker 3: are you talking to this week.
- 22:50Speaker 5: I am talking to Parker Washington, so I want to
- 22:52Speaker 5: see how he's going to handle a huge opportunity, a
- 22:56Speaker 5: potential career opportunity for him.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I'm talking to Press Taylor, going to find out about
- 23:00Speaker 4: how they can get this offense going quicker, faster, more
- 23:04Speaker 4: productive early so that they don't fall behind.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Ten nothing that would be great.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna go off field with Ventrel Miller before Florid, Georgia,
- 23:10Speaker 3: see if he's got any good memories to share. And
- 23:13Speaker 3: then tomorrow on jacksonm we're going to go over this
- 23:16Speaker 3: upcoming game against the Eagles because it's gonna be a
- 23:18Speaker 3: tough one for sure, so we're gonna break all of
- 23:19Speaker 3: that down for you tomorrow. We will see you on
- 23:21Speaker 3: Jacks AM.
