- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not. Make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you saw that day.
- 0:25Just the knife in the kidneys over all these years and the
- 0:29sacrifices that I made to love
- 0:48Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to
- 0:50Part 2 of Season 6, Episode 10
- 0:55Marriage Therapy. For those of you fortunate
- 0:58enough to join us for Part 1, you know everything that
- 1:01happened in this episode. You have been riveted by every
- 1:04moment, including Pat's black hair, our missing of Mona.
- 1:10Ants crawling up thighs. Meditation circles.
- 1:17And Janelle wearing a red blouse.
- 1:18Unfortunately, Kody being correct, yeah, that's.
- 1:23Yeah, us not hating on Kody for a time or two, and that might
- 1:26even continue in this part too.
- 1:28So brace yourself, take some Imodium, you know, take that
- 1:31Dramamine, whatever you got to do.
- 1:33Car over Do not drive during this episode.
- 1:35Do not drive a vehicle during this episode.
- 1:37Please. It's like the medication bottle
- 1:39with the winking eye. That's like, do not operate
- 1:42heavy machinery while listening to this podcast because we are
- 1:49I know. Just stay with us.
- 1:50Stay with us. We're going to hit them by the
- 1:53We are gathered here today at the retreat to continue our
- 1:58therapy in this journey. We're gathered in the morning.
- 2:05Robyn is missing and Kody gives us the news that Robyn isn't
- 2:11feeling well. She's feeling nauseous this
- 2:15morning. Yeah, she is not coming.
- 2:17So she's going to stay in bed today and I was so disappointed.
- 2:24believed it too. I thought for sure Robyn isn't
- 2:26feeling well and it couldn't be that she doesn't trust the
- 2:29therapist and that she's actually going to have to self
- 2:31analyze or someone else might give her some sort of feedback
- 2:34or something to reflect on. It couldn't be that she's
- 2:37pretending it's April Fool's Day
- 2:41Oh, do you think she. Might be pretending to be having
- 2:45morning sickness. Why would Kody use the word
- 2:47nauseous? It's an odd word to use on just
- 2:54a regular morning waking up if
- 2:59you aren't pregante. Yeah, well.
- 3:02I don't know. Maybe she's trying to start
- 3:04rumors in her own family that she is knocked up.
- 3:06It would. She's manipulative.
- 3:08This is it. It would actually fall in line
- 3:09with who she is so. It really would.
- 3:12Listen, I'm going to put a lot
- 3:14theory and I'm going to believe it.
- 3:15She's planting the seed that she's preggers here in the
- 3:17middle of Season 6. And you heard it here first,
- 3:20this breaking news from 10 years
- 3:23Tinfoil hat on baby. I have a double lined tinfoil
- 3:26hat on, but it's probably not that far off.
- 3:29Yeah, and that tin hat's for everyone's safety.
- 3:32Yeah, it really is. Nancy tells us that her plan for
- 3:35that day was for all five of them.
- 3:38Of course. Hello, I was planning on your
- 3:40entire family being here for this marriage retreat, so I
- 3:44guess we'll have to take a shift
- 3:47She gives a little heads up that
- 3:50to be able to get wet. Interesting.
- 3:56All right. OK.
- 3:58Yes, it's true. Oh my God, We get to some sort
- 4:01of valley between these red rocks and we meet with somebody
- 4:07named Joseph Whitewolf, and he
- 4:12We find out on his lower third.
- 4:15And a truly amazing man, according to the male meditation
- 4:23White Wolf is a truly amazing man, and at this point, we'll
- 4:28just have to take his word for it.
- 4:29We'll see if it's true or not.
- 4:33true. Oh yes, it took because no time.
- 4:36As we are walking through this
- 4:42it jumps and Joseph steps next
- 4:48grasshopper? He steps by it again and it
- 4:50jumps. He says when they jump, look,
- 4:54they turn around, they face you.
- 4:56What they are teaching us is to face our fears.
- 5:01That's a truly beautiful gift. Let's continue.
- 5:06Let's continue. I love it, He.
- 5:09Takes I love this guy. I know I love it.
- 5:11He takes this pause. Let's continue.
- 5:13And I literally laughed out loud because everyone's probably just
- 5:19around. Here we are, darting eyes and
- 5:22following the Joseph White Wolf, who is, I guess, to quote Kody,
- 5:27a hippie. He's got his hippie dippie look
- 5:29and his weird hat and his weird eyebrows and his weird face.
- 5:32See, I, you know, I tear them apart for saying weird.
- 5:35And then I realized how many times I say weird.
- 5:37So I should start saying word because that's a little bit
- 5:40more, it's a little bit more on brand for my Sister Wives
- 5:43podcast. I like this guy.
- 5:44You know what I get? I get good vibes from this guy.
- 5:48I totally do.
- 5:49You feel it. I wouldn't go to toe to toe with
- 5:52a grasshopper just to learn a lesson personally, but I am
- 5:58loving this guy. We get a quote from Kody.
- 6:02And it starts out, I, I have to say it starts out, listen, man,
- 6:06which I love. I love it because this is what's
- 6:10so good about Kody when he's on and he's, you know, we're
- 6:13supposed to hate him and we're
- 6:15He takes on the vibes of the vibes he's getting.
- 6:17This is so it. He's such a performer that he's
- 6:19like, listen man, you know, I'm in one of the most out there
- 6:23religions you can imagine. So if people seem like hippies
- 6:28to me, I'm tolerant of that. I'm from a weird religion.
- 6:32It's like, OK, Kody Bow. He says if they're really
- 6:37earthy. Oh.
- 6:39He calls hippies really earthy.
- 6:40Yeah, I mean. You know, Billy Bob Thornton, I
- 6:44mean, Joseph White Wolf is very earthy.
- 6:46He gets inspiration from the grasshopper jumping.
- 6:48It's like the Willow tree from Pocahontas.
- 6:51See, we're so full of Disney references today, it's
- 6:54disgusting. It is I I like this guy.
- 6:57I'm here for it. And at this moment, in front of
- 7:02the Willow tree, Pat tells us that she is leaving.
- 7:06Her time with the Browns is done.
- 7:09But she also lets us know that her time with the Browns was a
- 7:20that would use the word delicious to describe their time
- 7:23with clients, patients. Excuse me, I just.
- 7:28I don't use delicious much except for when I'm describing
- 7:31my own body parts. A red apple.
- 7:34I use it when I'm describing a
- 7:36When I'm trying to convince somebody to take a bite of a
- 7:38delicious red poisoned apple. We are back in a Disney movie.
- 7:44We've got to end this now. We've got to end this now.
- 7:47We're going to get our episode's
- 7:49YouTube. Too many Disney references.
- 7:56Oh no, can't do that OOP. OOP and I just got this amazing
- 8:00visual stimulation of a Disney
- 8:09experience. Oh God.
- 8:13While I was recovering from the delicious experience, my eyes
- 8:17opened and I saw Pat with her teal earrings and her teal
- 8:23necklace or top. There was a lot of teal and I
- 8:25thought Pat is a hippie herself and how appropriate for Sedona.
- 8:31See, she might look a little bit
- 8:34the Orphan Annie Orphanage woman or Lyle Lovett or whoever.
- 8:39But she was wearing that turquoise jewelry and she was
- 8:42rocking it as any lesbian looking Sedona dweller would.
- 8:46And she's going to leave us with
- 8:50Well, not us, Nancy. Yeah, Nancy.
- 8:52Nancy is going to get this parting advice and it's to be
- 8:57open. And to listen, to be open and to
- 9:03listen, I thought, you know, that's some great advice from
- 9:06one therapist to another. Right.
- 9:09You are these people, Mona. Save us from these people.
- 9:12Please Mona, this turquoise lady
- 9:17She totally is. Your spiritual crystal nipple
- 9:21tassels over this fake imposter with her turquoise earrings.
- 9:24At this point, Mona definitely
- 9:27polygamist family in solving their problems than Pat.
- 9:29Oh my gosh, she. Does. 100 for real.
- 9:31Pat, if you're listening, you're
- 9:34out. Allegedly.
- 9:37Thank you for putting allegedly.
- 9:38I was going to say legal is going to RIP me a new one.
- 9:41Meri says that it felt like a final goodbye with her leaving.
- 9:46It just felt like such a goodbye
- 9:49moment. Yeah, they're closing a chapter
- 9:52in their history. We don't get any more special
- 9:55moments with Joseph White Wolf.
- 9:57This is it. We're introduced to him and as
- 10:02I like this guy. I liked him a lot.
- 10:05Why couldn't we have more of him?
- 10:06I did. It's like that guy from Nauvoo.
- 10:09We got a lot of him.
- 10:11Yeah, Joseph, Another Joseph. What's with these?
- 10:14Joseph's tour, Remember Joseph's
- 10:17Yeah, and now we've got Joseph
- 10:20grasshopper for two seconds and then leaves and I'm going why
- 10:24are we wearing the shoes that need to get wet?
- 10:25I'm just. Mind bending moment.
- 10:27They're in a Creek bed. Oh, they're OK.
- 10:29They're in a valley with a Creek
- 10:33something's happening there that
- 10:35Yeah, it's moist. Yeah.
- 10:37Damp where they're going, damp
- 10:41Damp and. Dark, just like the side of the
- 10:44necklace of Christine that she
- 10:47Oh, that Christine. Poor Christine.
- 10:50Nancy asks if everyone would be comfortable doing individual
- 10:54sessions. So we start the next segment
- 10:56with these individual sessions
- 11:02with Janelle first. Nancy's asking Janelle tough
- 11:08questions, and one of the first questions she asks is how she's
- 11:13fitting into the family. And Janelle says I'm not going
- 11:17anywhere. But I also don't feel like I fit
- 11:20in anymore. I don't know where I fit in.
- 11:24Nancy asks if she's honest with everyone in the family, and
- 11:27Janelle says that she is honest with Kody and Christine, but
- 11:31not with Robyn and Meri. Yeah, she says it's taken her
- 11:34years to get used to Meri's personality, which I thought was
- 11:38an interesting way to phrase that, to get used to her
- 11:40personality. You know something?
- 11:43She's still getting used. To still working on it she.
- 11:46Says she also referenced how her
- 11:51And I think that when I hear her
- 11:54reference to how since moving out of Lehigh and they've had
- 11:58this separation and they've gotten even more independent
- 12:00from each other. That's always aligned with her
- 12:03knack like who she is. And so to have this kind of OK
- 12:06for two years, she probably has experienced, I don't want to
- 12:10say more change than everyone else, but she's probably slid
- 12:13into it more comfortably than everyone else as far as the
- 12:16daily and her nest, her vibes.
- 12:20realized that she has her own voice.
- 12:23She doesn't have to be wife #2.
- 12:25And she uses that voice later in this episode, which I love.
- 12:30So she is definitely finding more of her voice.
- 12:33I love that. Then we're going to go to Meri's
- 12:40going to be the hardest part for you in all of this?
- 12:44When we get a cop out answer as per usual for Meri, Meri says
- 12:48the hardest part is to trust that everyone wants to work on
- 13:05Right. It's a cheap cop out answer, but
- 13:13individual sessions, it's weird because this scene, when they
- 13:16teed it up, I thought, well, we're going to have some real
- 13:20intense moments with everyone and it quickly just speeds up
- 13:23into just cuts of everyone talking.
- 13:25So that's a bit disappointing. Well, you know, par for the
- 13:28course with this show. It goes back and forth, kind of.
- 13:32they give us a couple of wives
- 13:34question. They might go back to another
- 13:36wife and then another one. So we are going to cut between
- 13:39each of these individual sessions maybe more than once,
- 13:42just so you know. And our next sound bite comes
- 13:44from Kody. Kody says each one of my wives
- 13:48wants to work out a relationship
- 13:52same with them. I'm not sure they want to work
- 13:56on a relationship with each other.
- 13:58Yes, which is opening up this theme that we're going to have
- 14:01for the rest of the episode and is a theme for the show as well
- 14:06as we move forward is that he's starting to emphasize now y'all
- 14:10are what we talked about it earlier, how he's in the middle
- 14:12and the navigation and he can't manage everything.
- 14:15He's really going to start making this push of them having
- 14:18relationships with each other.
- 14:22Yep. Once again, where are we going
- 14:24to fault Kody on this? Because it makes sense.
- 14:28And I just want to go Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding instead
- 14:31of don't, don't, don't Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.
- 14:34Kody, you hit the nail on the head.
- 14:36Finally, fucking finally, finally, finally.
- 14:39But you're saying it in front of
- 14:42wives right now. Oh, yeah.
- 14:44This is the individual session.
- 14:47Honey. Honey.
- 14:48Honey, and I'm sure I didn't do it justice in the way that he
- 14:51said it. It was probably annoying and you
- 14:59All right, brace yourselves. Brace yourselves.
- 15:02It's not going to be the last time that we're going to Ding,
- 15:09brace yourselves because the next loser we hear from is
- 15:11Robyn. Well, that too, yeah.
- 15:13Next we hear from Robyn. Don, Don, Don.
- 15:17When Robyn, she chose plural marriage for a reason, she chose
- 15:24closer at the cul-de-sac, we can all choose to do our own thing.
- 15:29Not sure where she was going
- 15:31with that. Did did you get anything out of
- 15:33that? She mentions something we've
- 15:37never heard before. I was in a monogamous
- 15:39relationship before this one. Oh God, I.
- 15:44Chose this for a reason. Oh no.
- 15:48I was in a monogamous relationship before this one.
- 15:51We could all just be separate,
- 15:57Oh my Lord, my God, Nancy asks
- 16:03mission statement, of course, because this has been so
- 16:05fundamental to their therapy At this point.
- 16:07Is talking about the mission statement OK?
- 16:12And Christine volunteers that she doesn't know if the family's
- 16:15just afraid to start. But we really need to put it
- 16:19down on paper. And I had a pause here because
- 16:22I'm going, Christine, what do you mean you're afraid to start?
- 16:24I feel as though we have watched
- 16:28of brainstorming about the mission statement, and they
- 16:31didn't go anywhere. So how is it that you could feel
- 16:34that they're afraid to start? You've already had two failed
- 16:37starts. I think that might be what she's
- 16:40referencing, but she doesn't know how to say it.
- 16:43She doesn't know how to say. They've been meaningless
- 16:46conversations. They've been superficial
- 16:48conversations. They haven't gone anywhere.
- 16:51Right, because less than a minute later, she does clarify
- 16:53that the family has met multiple
- 16:56accomplish anything. But unfortunately, she starts
- 16:58with this statement that makes
- 17:00nothing and everyone's afraid.
- 17:03just not the case. You're just trying to lead 20
- 17:05plus people in a conversation most of them don't want to have.
- 17:09What I would say is they should have started this by coming up
- 17:13with AQ and a worksheet for the children and all the children
- 17:18handed them in and then the adults got together and the
- 17:22adults took the common themes from the children so that the
- 17:25children felt included. But the adults implement it
- 17:29because the adults are in charge
- 17:33Children don't need to be a part
- 17:35In a way you want them to feel
- 17:40that they are looking to for answers.
- 17:43And when you start asking your
- 17:48complicated. Well, tying, you know, doing a
- 17:50direct tie to mission statements
- 17:53workplace, you might send out a survey and get people's
- 17:56information. Then leadership comes together,
- 17:57navigate, figures out how they want to navigate discussions,
- 18:00pulls out the points they want to basically manipulate their
- 18:03employees with. So I guess in this family that
- 18:07back in to, you know, hammer out details and get their
- 18:10suggestions and to make it all a beautiful thing that you can put
- 18:17What a novel idea. Yeah, what a novel idea.
- 18:20Yeah, these people, they couldn't.
- 18:21Oh, these people. Oh, these people.
- 18:23This same question is posed to everyone in the family.
- 18:26So we get clips billion of their solo situations with Nancy.
- 18:31Next we're going to go to Janelle.
- 18:34We all know how Janelle feels about this family mission
- 18:38statement. Janelle says she loves it.
- 18:40Sure thinks it's drama. Drama.
- 18:43I've Pooh poohed this mission statement thing because I think
- 18:47it's drama. Also, to quote Leon, we're a
- 18:53family, we're not a business. Yes, we just said this is how
- 18:57you would run a business. Yeah.
- 19:00Leon, are you right too in this episode?
- 19:02What the fuck is are we in Kansas anymore?
- 19:04Oh God, Dorothy, I don't know. Do I need to click my heels?
- 19:08Let's hope a house falls on Robyn.
- 19:09Kody is next to answer this question about the family
- 19:14mission statement. And Kody says when they were new
- 19:22mission statement as a way to lead to a plan for a
- 19:27recommitment of the family. That they all brought their own
- 19:30baggage to the family when they started their family and they
- 19:32have hurdles to overcome. But their new homes on the
- 19:36cul-de-sac are almost like a signifier of their recommitment.
- 19:42I'd be going, OK, let me so. These new homes are fixing your
- 19:47family again. Again.
- 19:50I'd be like, could you draw me a
- 19:53So when you started your family,
- 19:56and you kind of got over it, but
- 19:58have new homes on a cul-de-sac.
- 19:59So this is going to solve your problems and you're doing a
- 20:02mission statement. Now your baggage is just
- 20:04separated between bigger homes and a bigger cul.
- 20:06De SAC Yeah, Oh my God. And the house didn't land on
- 20:11Robyn and we're all disappointed in his cul-de-sac.
- 20:14I'm literally speechless about Kody's response in the same
- 20:17episode where we're giving him all this praise.
- 20:19He's giving word salad responses that are absolutely ridiculous
- 20:25responded to him. But unfortunately, we get a
- 20:28quick cut over to Mayor going to Meri, and Meri says she's afraid
- 20:36afraid to say it too much, she says she gets upset and says
- 20:40she's afraid to overstep her bounds when it comes to
- 20:43communicating with the other family members.
- 20:45Because of their history. She figured out that Janelle was
- 20:52can't share my feelings with Janelle because she's not safe.
- 20:55She's going to plug my wet bar
- 20:58up. I can't share my feelings
- 21:00anymore. I can't risk my wet bar.
- 21:05This is the thing with Meri, the
- 21:09afraid to say too much. She doesn't want to hurt
- 21:12people's feelings, She doesn't
- 21:15her bounds. And I'm going, I think every
- 21:18episode we see you overstepping your bounds and saying things
- 21:21that upset people. So I don't know, do you identify
- 21:24with what you, I shouldn't say
- 21:26Pretends though when she says things she's sarcastic like oh I
- 21:31didn't know I would be taking up
- 21:34was taking away from otherwise.
- 21:36You know she says things sarcastically so she's not
- 21:40outright saying it. Oh, OK, OK.
- 21:43Instead of saying I was taking from your budget, you thought I
- 21:46was taking from your budget. She pretends and says I didn't
- 21:53That is a literal example or yeah, she takes a porch of like
- 21:57I'm sorry if you felt that way Janelle, that I would take
- 21:59something that was yours Yes like well, way to put it on her
- 22:02as opposed to just saying, oh, I if This is why I don't believe
- 22:06Nice. She should have been raised in
- 22:08Yeah, she should have been from the Midwest.
- 22:10I'd say you're welcome here, but I don't know how everyone else
- 22:17She's afraid of overstepping her bounds.
- 22:21What we're going to harken back to here is she was told she was
- 22:28abusive towards Janelle. She had been told that she had
- 22:38marriage. So she's too scared to say
- 22:40anything now, even if it might
- 22:45I want to say just because her
- 22:51abusive, even if it was on the
- 22:56before, it doesn't mean that she
- 22:59her own opinion now. OK.
- 23:02So you can do something wrong in
- 23:06going to forgive you and tell you that they are going to move
- 23:09on from it, then they need to be
- 23:13and take your opinion for what
- 23:16Does that make sense? It does make sense you.
- 23:18Can't discredit her now if you
- 23:22the past. Well, what I'm curious about is
- 23:24the moving on from the past. I don't think they have.
- 23:26I don't. Clearly they haven't overall as
- 23:29a family in many ways, but I don't think that Janelle has
- 23:32specifically forgiven her or that they've even really
- 23:35discussed anything in a mature
- 23:39that phase of their early marriage.
- 23:41So they still need to address the past before they can address
- 23:44the future. That's why she's feeling
- 23:47uncomfortable speaking her mind and now, because if they had
- 23:50already buried the the past, like they buried Drake, like
- 23:55they buried Ally, like they buried the cooler, like they
- 23:58burned the bag, they would probably be able to share their
- 24:02opinions freely. There's also something about
- 24:05Meri with I pick up this, oh God, I pick up this thing about
- 24:11extremes with her. You know, it's almost, when it
- 24:16comes to examples, it's she can't reference something that's
- 24:19relatable to the situation. Her saying that you know, she's
- 24:23too afraid walking on egg shells
- 24:26like that seems so extreme compared to what your actual
- 24:29behaviors are like. You might be filtering yourself
- 24:35and you might not be explaining things correct in a way that
- 24:37you would like to or that you feel comfortable with.
- 24:39But I guess I'm struggling with how to put this into words.
- 24:43There's something about Meri. She doesn't have gel up in her
- 24:47hair, making AC wave out of her bank.
- 24:49She's got her own unique hairstyle, as we know.
- 24:52There's just something about the
- 24:54operates from extremes when rationalizing or giving examples
- 24:58or something. It's hot or cold.
- 25:01She's this and I'm going, are you?
- 25:03And then it goes, and then I'm, well, I guess she is.
- 25:05But my God, you're also the complete opposite, so I don't
- 25:08know. I wish you would give an
- 25:10example. I wish she would say in the past
- 25:14I did this and it was seen as too much.
- 25:17So now I'm scared to do this because it might be seen as too
- 25:22much. But then she'll do something
- 25:25that's very paralleled or sister
- 25:29And I go. But Meri, you're too much.
- 25:31Because she hasn't learned. Because they've never actually
- 25:34really addressed it. They've never brought up a true
- 25:36example, and they've never addressed the original example
- 25:40in quotations. They've never addressed it.
- 25:42Right. Their therapist for five years,
- 25:44who was the polygamy expert who knew nothing about polygamy,
- 25:47says that they've moved on and
- 25:49know they haven't at all. So it's all a shroud of lies.
- 25:53Honestly, it's frustrating because for five years you're
- 25:57telling me you didn't address any of this?
- 26:01I don't believe it. I believe they had to have
- 26:04discussed some of this and they're skirting over it for the
- 26:08show. Again, I don't know.
- 26:11Yeah, there's something phony baloney about it all, but don't
- 26:16worry, everyone. As we start day three of our
- 26:18marriage retreat, we get Robyn
- 26:23Robyn is feeling better, her morning sickness is over.
- 26:26She's decided to keep the baby
- 26:32Forward. Oh, that was terrible, Chris.
- 26:36Oh, God. I'm sorry, everybody.
- 26:37You know, this is a crass podcast.
- 26:38Why am I apologizing? No, no, no, Nancy says that they
- 26:42are going to use their bodies,
- 26:46their own bodies and they are going to go close to how they
- 26:50feel to Kody now with where they
- 26:56And this is a little odd. It's not explained very well.
- 27:02Let me try that one, honey. Everyone's outside with Nancy on
- 27:06the morning of day three and they're going to sculpt where
- 27:09they are in relationship to each
- 27:12So with their bodies, right, They're going to take up the
- 27:15space on this patio in alignment, closeness, distance,
- 27:21arrangement with each other based on how they feel about
- 27:24their relationships. They're not going to modge podge
- 27:26newspaper over each other's naked bodies, which is what I
- 27:30was hoping for when I saw this
- 27:33I thought you were talking about
- 27:36you know, But I was. Hoping they were going to take
- 27:37strips of newspaper with Modge
- 27:42other's bodies. That would have been great.
- 27:44I would have loved to seen Janelle's.
- 27:47So the first part of this activity, they're going to be
- 27:49doing their sculpting of their
- 27:53are to each other, and Nancy's
- 27:57going to do where they would like to be to each other.
- 28:01What I do like about this exercise is that it is tactile,
- 28:05it is visual, it's in the space,
- 28:10address how things are now and
- 28:13These are some things emphasized
- 28:17never actually had to do this, so I don't know what it would
- 28:19be like in person to do. I'll explain it in a way that
- 28:22people that have done this before, OK, It's so in relation
- 28:26to each other. How are you feeling?
- 28:30It reminds me of an exercise that you would do in an
- 28:33auditorium, perhaps in theater
- 28:36Stand on this side if you believe in this.
- 28:38Stand on this side of the theater if you believe in this.
- 28:42And where in the middle of the
- 28:45line of you believe in this or
- 28:47OK. And Kody kind of becomes the
- 28:52middle just out of default I feel.
- 28:56Like, he doesn't even move at all in the entire exercise.
- 28:58He does not. I think he just stands in one
- 29:00place. Yeah, which is telling in and of
- 29:02itself. So they're like planets orbiting
- 29:03around Kody and where you think you fall in relation to Kody.
- 29:07Absolutely. And Meri stands by Robyn and
- 29:15they kind of are giggling and they start holding hands.
- 29:19And Robyn is, of course, right
- 29:22So you've got Kody, Robyn, Meri holding Robyn's hand.
- 29:28Janelle says. I don't know.
- 29:33And Janelle goes out and kind of
- 29:38feet, and then Christine is like, I don't know.
- 29:44And she goes behind Kody's back but turns around and faces away
- 29:48from him. So they're back-to-back.
- 29:50Well, and what I would note about the way that they're
- 29:53aligned is, as you said, Meri's on the other side of Robyn from
- 29:57Kody, obviously very telling as we've watched their
- 30:00relationship, you know, unfurl
- 30:03Janelle, I, I would say she's like arm's length away from Kody
- 30:06as as you were saying, she's a
- 30:08same place. She's I'm right in front of you
- 30:11to the left. You can see me.
- 30:13I'm right here. She's not next to him like maybe
- 30:15a spouse would be, but she's right there.
- 30:18The thing about Christine that
- 30:21that she seemed uncomfortable and she kept moving.
- 30:26She never really stayed in one
- 30:28She was behind him, she was in
- 30:30She was navigating the entire scape of what was happening.
- 30:34She was like an asteroid floating between the planets,
- 30:36not knowing where she belonged.
- 30:38Yeah, she definitely looked like she didn't know where to go at
- 30:44exercise, there's a voice over that I thought was very
- 30:47interesting from Kody referencing Nancy as a crazy
- 30:51lady and aggressive. And I'm going, I'm not sure how
- 30:55you get that from being teed up this exercise because it didn't
- 30:58seem to me like crazy or aggressive, but OK.
- 31:00And then we get a voice over from Janelle as well where she
- 31:12OK, interesting. Robyn says she almost stood up
- 31:21Yeah. Weaponizing therapy speech,
- 31:25which is what they probably got out of their time with pat of
- 31:29that five years. All they got was some talking
- 31:32points, therapy speak to use against each other.
- 31:34Robyn to say it's not safe. Nothing safe I need.
- 31:36To get out of this. I don't feel safe right now.
- 31:38Yeah, all of this is happening while Christine continues to
- 31:41look unsettled, while she's just navigating the space of her
- 31:46sister wives and husband. She keeps moving around from
- 31:49space to peace, and she goes, I don't know where to go.
- 31:52And then they go to a couch moment.
- 31:55And on the couch, Christine says she doesn't even want to talk
- 32:00about this part of the therapy. She didn't like it.
- 32:03It was the worst part of the trip for her.
- 32:06And that's not really addressed too in depthly after this, but
- 32:12It was it was very kind of, this is a moment.
- 32:14And then we go back to this patio, terror space, whatever.
- 32:21to make this more comfortable in the future, ushering in the
- 32:25Part 2 of this exercise. And they all kind of move, and
- 32:32shuffling into a somewhat semicircle.
- 32:33And then they all join hands in the middle of the circle as if
- 32:43But instead they're just, you know, touching hands.
- 32:46Being a family in a circle, I guess.
- 32:49Robyn tells us that all the relationships are equal.
- 32:53But they drag Kody into the middle of their relationships,
- 33:03Nancy says we need to deal directly with one person in a
- 33:08relationship. So a relationship is between two
- 33:17the middle and not managing your relationship through
- 33:20another person. When she talked about managing
- 33:28whole show is that Robyn's the one that can speak Kody, quote,
- 33:31UN quote, and she's the one navigating Meri and Kody's
- 33:35choppy waters. She's his mouthpiece.
- 33:37Yeah, completely inappropriate. Kody talks about how if he's in
- 33:42the middle, then he becomes their sole focus and they can't
- 33:46have real relationships with each other.
- 33:48So a follow up to what we brought up earlier.
- 33:51Yeah, Christine asks why wouldn't you be in the middle,
- 33:57I'm the sole focus and your connection with each other has
- 34:04Here's the thing, we're not truly a family unless upon my
- 34:10death, you stay a family. God, Kody.
- 34:16And Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.
- 34:17I know. And this is just another example
- 34:23While he is correct, I am watching the TV and he is
- 34:29standing in an authoritarian stance and all the wives are
- 34:33around him listening to him declare this statement about how
- 34:40And it's weird because it's I agree with him.
- 34:44I mean, a family, a family does need to survive a death in the
- 34:50you're a family, you would survive a death in the family.
- 35:01talking at everyone as if they're just supposed to listen
- 35:03to your word from high above. And so that gives me the ick
- 35:05factor. I get where you're coming from.
- 35:09I'm thinking of it from the point of view from the religion
- 35:14here, OK, which is that in the
- 35:20the family remains and they're
- 35:24they were. So the family cannot fall apart
- 35:30just because he is gone, right?
- 35:32Which we've seen in Kody's dad's relationships.
- 35:34I don't know when Kody's dad passes, if he passes during the
- 35:39show, but they show some of the wives saying their relationships
- 35:45So now they're just best friends living like The Golden Girls.
- 35:51That's what I imagine sister wives should be.
- 35:55If a husband passes is a golden girls vibe.
- 35:59But that's not the reality. When you get into this religion,
- 36:11So he's being so idealistic here.
- 36:15He's separated himself from the core of their fundamentalist
- 36:21Mormon religion, and I feel they are so lost right now.
- 36:28They don't remember why they're polygamists.
- 36:31Yeah, there is something about that with you're on to something
- 36:40eternal Kingdom together. And yet there is something about
- 36:48a surrogate husband comes in or is like assigned by the
- 36:52spiritual leaders. Because another prophet needs to
- 36:59where that starts and ends because is it about if they have
- 37:04Because at some point that doesn't happen.
- 37:06Let's say they're old enough, they're in their 60s or 70s.
- 37:10About to pasture. They're not going to be able to
- 37:13reproduce and whatever, so we don't care anymore.
- 37:15But what happens if you're in your 40s and husband dies?
- 37:18Are you reassigned a husband? Because then who's in the
- 37:21eternal Kingdom? I mean, it doesn't make any
- 37:24sense. It is weird and that's where it
- 37:26gets complicated and that's where they don't even understand
- 37:36the church few years ago. They're so discombobulated as a
- 37:41family. He's trying to tell them now, if
- 37:47Don't you ever find another husband?
- 37:50Don't you be happy again without anyone but each other.
- 37:53You are each other's family and I cannot be the common
- 37:57denominator because if I am not here, where do your
- 38:01relationships stand with each other?
- 38:03I'm on his side when I'm thinking of it from his
- 38:07religion. And this is where I'm like Ding,
- 38:12up your own relationships. I can't be the go between
- 38:15between you guys all of the time.
- 38:17It's not healthy for what we're trying to do here.
- 38:22What they're trying to do seems to me to be some sort of
- 38:28offshoot cult that's new and experimental, and now they're
- 38:31bringing new and experimental therapists into it.
- 38:34They don't know what the fuck they're doing anymore.
- 38:38They. Clearly do not know because I
- 38:40love that that's your take. I shouldn't say I love that
- 38:43that's your take away as if we differ so much.
- 38:44But I'm thinking that Kody is expressing his own selfish want
- 38:48to not be in the middle of shit anymore.
- 38:50It's just too much. He doesn't want to deal with it.
- 38:56of part of the reason that he's saying this is because when he
- 38:59hears a therapist saying you need to have healthy
- 39:01relationships with each other and no one can be in the middle,
- 39:04he agrees with that on some level because maybe he does want
- 39:06them to have healthy relationships with each other.
- 39:09But also he talks about how he's
- 39:13He's the one that everybody comes to and he's got a blah,
- 39:15blah, blah, blah. And and maybe not a selfish.
- 39:18Be easier for. Him but it be easier like y'all
- 39:21need to figure your shit out and
- 39:23with each other. It's funny how I lose track of
- 39:26the faith quote UN quote the cult, the lens of this because
- 39:30it's just so not emphasized. They've lost track.
- 39:33Of it they literally have. Yes, thank you for reminding
- 39:37them. Oh, if only you had been there
- 39:39in person, honey, to remind them
- 39:43Sometimes I just wish I would have been able to get into their
- 39:46heads like Jesus. More astral projection.
- 39:51Well, Christine says that this
- 39:54conversation, which of course,
- 39:58probably not, but OK. And this gives Kody an
- 40:02opportunity to have a long, long, long thing to say.
- 40:06Honey, do you do you feel like
- 40:10here? Yeah, I'm a little mixed bag.
- 40:13But if I wasn't in the picture, would this picture stay?
- 40:19I can't sit and be the only common denominator and only the
- 40:25common denominator. The relationships for each of
- 40:30you need to be strengthened as
- 40:34And then he poses the question, do you have relationships with
- 40:38each other? Which I do like that he
- 40:41challenges them because that's
- 40:46And rather than just stating it,
- 40:49authoritarian stance where I feel like he's always telling
- 40:51them how it's supposed to be. I was talking at them.
- 40:54At least he's teeing it up with a question.
- 40:55And even though it might be a bit combative, is at least
- 40:57asking a fucking question to make them think.
- 41:00And the only thing I would correct about what you said,
- 41:02honey, is that he says picture, not picture.
- 41:05Remember, they're from Utah. So it's a picture as if it's
- 41:08they're pouring out water. It's not a picture with this
- 41:12picture stay. It's with this picture stay.
- 41:17You're correct. You know, I don't want to tear
- 41:19anybody apart, but it is a picture, not a picture, Yes.
- 41:24Christine admits It's kind of an
- 41:30Yeah, yeah, because I need it kind of basis pick and choose
- 41:36when I need my sister wives. Yeah, she interacts with Janelle
- 41:39more than with the others because of their shared
- 41:42connection with the kids and their history of, you know,
- 41:46really Janelle going to work and
- 41:50Janelle's children. I think outside of that and
- 41:53Christine volunteers that she's not as close with Meri and
- 41:56Robyn, which we were all surprised to hear.
- 41:58No, but at least she's saying it.
- 42:00Based on where they stood in the
- 42:03bodies, that visual stimulation really told me all I needed to
- 42:09know, Meri says. I'm completely in a different
- 42:14place than anybody else. And without a fucking beat,
- 42:19there is not even a chance to take a breath.
- 42:22Kody says. But that doesn't separate you
- 42:24from the family if you choose to
- 42:27So I was like, oh, OK, So Kody
- 42:31Kody has thought about this. I think he's sick of her.
- 42:34Shit, he's sick of her shit. You can choose to have
- 42:36relationships with each of your sister wives independent of me.
- 42:39And that's my point. Once again, a little Ding Ding,
- 42:43Ding, Ding, Ding for Kody because God, why do we have to
- 42:47give Kody any points here? Meri, you are proving the point
- 42:51that he's trying to make. So I'm going to be Meri, but I
- 42:54do. Kody responds.
- 42:57Is it a good relationship? Do you like it?
- 43:00In some cases, yes. What's it?
- 43:06I don't even know how to adequately explain these merry
- 43:08situations and scenarios and things, she says.
- 43:11You're standing in front of your
- 43:13cases it feels passive aggressive and weird.
- 43:16I like some of you, but not all of you.
- 43:17And yes, I'm willing to declare it.
- 43:19Yeah, but yet I'm unwilling to
- 43:23scared. She's so full of shit.
- 43:26Walking on egg shells, but I'm
- 43:29Yeah, I just whatever. She's so hot and cold.
- 43:33Oh, but don't worry everyone, we're going to get some
- 43:35clarification from our family.
- 43:40Yes. Yes.
- 43:41She speaks Kody, she speaks Meri.
- 43:44She doesn't speak Christine and Janelle so well, but she
- 43:46definitely speaks Kody and some Meri.
- 43:49And Robyn says we have our times
- 43:54Sync, and those are magical times.
- 43:59Magical. Time Magical.
- 44:02Magical darling. Just when I thought she couldn't
- 44:09Well, Kody's going to just do what he does best here and lead
- 44:14them all to their salvation because he's the prophet of the
- 44:17family. This is it.
- 44:19Usher in his authoritarian vibes once again.
- 44:20This is why I can never be Team Kody.
- 44:22Kody wants them all to put their arms around each other, put
- 44:28their foreheads together, touch those sweaty, greasy ass
- 44:34foreheads together and everybody is connected.
- 44:38And in this position, everyone is truly connected, he says.
- 44:44And I'm like, like a basketball team that's rallying before
- 44:49needing the last point and they're all sweaty and getting
- 44:57Kody? As they migrate together for
- 44:59this circle slash forehead touching moment, there's a
- 45:02voiceover from Meri, or if she's on the couch, one of the two.
- 45:06I don't know. At this point, I'm experiencing
- 45:08some amnesia and she says our circle is strong, but sometimes
- 45:12it breaks apart but it comes back together.
- 45:16We just need to be strong. As she starts getting emotional
- 45:21and I'm. It's just what?
- 45:24OK. Yeah, sure.
- 45:25Thanks, Mayor. More useless garbage.
- 45:28While Kody is leading them into this position of strength, as
- 45:32you talked about. And each of them is connected to
- 45:42They're just like, I'm the
- 45:44therapist, this is the exercise I'm leading.
- 45:46And Kody has taken over to guide
- 45:50circled forehead touching moment.
- 45:52Prayer, prayer circle, whatever you would call it.
- 45:56And Nancy asks, is this what everyone wants?
- 46:00And Kody says that's our goal.
- 46:06Thanks, Kody. One of my other worst nightmare
- 46:08is touching greasy foreheads with other people.
- 46:13Oh, I love touching my greasy forehead to another man's greasy
- 46:15forehead. Nothing makes me feel closer to
- 46:19my authoritarian figure of the
- 46:24It's the last day of the retreat
- 46:28patio and we have some blocks laid out on a table.
- 46:35Wooden. Blocks.
- 46:36Yes, they are painted on with black chalk paint, we are told
- 46:43by Nancy, and each person is going to take three or four
- 46:49blocks and use some chalk and write a word that they really
- 46:54want on the family mission statement.
- 46:57One word per block is what the
- 47:00Some of the blocks had more than
- 47:01And I thought, y'all can't follow directions to save your
- 47:03life. But then I gave them a pass
- 47:04because this is therapy. It's a safe space.
- 47:07Is it? Well, we do find out that this
- 47:11is an exercise that I think is
- 47:14entire episode, I would assume.
- 47:15At least that's what we said when we were watching it.
- 47:17We were like, you know, this one isn't so bad.
- 47:20Yeah. Some examples of the words that
- 47:22were being tossed out by people.
- 47:25Faith, love, forgiveness and in my head I went Robyn lol OL
- 47:31forgiveness for that hussy and
- 47:35shame she has brought in this family.
- 47:37Well, really, it's the debt, but
- 47:40Compassion is another word that.
- 47:42Compassion. Applied to her, yes, peace and
- 47:51safety. It's like, you know, those are
- 47:54family that you'd like to have is peace and safety.
- 47:57Well, I don't know about peace, but safety.
- 48:00The main word Christine says this one needs to be on the
- 48:07biggest block is family. Well, she really loves that
- 48:12HomeGoods Hobby Lobby word art, so it really fits.
- 48:15This is totally Hobby Lobby word art vibes.
- 48:17By the way. You can sell each of these
- 48:20pieces from $0.99 to 499 based on the size, and Christine would
- 48:28it fits in her mind. Mckelty would come up and just
- 48:39therapy ever in a voiceover. She's like, this is the best
- 48:43therapy that we have ever had, these blocks.
- 48:46And as you said, the family is going to go in the middle of
- 48:50where they're going to be placing these blocks.
- 48:52And, you know, that makes sense, especially from a retail
- 48:55standpoint if you're Hobby Lobby aficionado.
- 48:57And then they're going to start placing the other blocks around
- 49:01the center block while discussing where they should go.
- 49:06going to take us is where do these words belong in our family
- 49:10hodgepodge of wooden blocks. The most important to go close
- 49:14to the family and then the supporting words to go out
- 49:18around the outside. I can see it now, and Meri's not
- 49:22liking what she can see as they're putting them down.
- 49:25They get to a point where most
- 49:28there's a significant number of them.
- 49:30Everyone's been kind of placing what they think, oh, saying
- 49:33things, blah, blah, blah, yadda,
- 49:35And we've got Meri once again standing over everyone watching
- 49:38what people are doing and maybe not providing direction, but
- 49:42clarifying for everyone. It's really lopsided.
- 49:46That is really lopsided. And Janelle says it doesn't have
- 49:49to be balanced. And Meri says, well, we should
- 49:52be balanced. It's like, OK, all right, once
- 49:55again, here we go, Janelle and
- 49:57Janelle and Meri. Janelle picks a giant wedgie,
- 50:00and she says it's a brainstorm.
- 50:03It doesn't need to be artwork. And in case you missed that
- 50:09little detail, Janelle picks a wedgie.
- 50:12Literally. It's so funny 'cause as she's
- 50:14speaking, she's Why do you? Do this to her.
- 50:17I don't know. They do her dirty so many times.
- 50:23and they're going to show her dirty dogs later on again.
- 50:29They could have certainly left
- 50:33overhead shot or something signifying what's going on
- 50:36without showing us her picking
- 50:40her ass. But you know, luckily I didn't
- 50:42notice it at all, and neither did you.
- 50:45Off to the side, Meri is vigorously rubbing her hands
- 50:49together like she's itching to
- 50:52front of her. She has her hands and she's
- 50:54rubbing them together almost like it's cold out there.
- 50:57Yeah, but do we believe it's cold out there, or do we believe
- 51:00that she just is trying to contain her eager excitement to
- 51:05fix shit? Yeah, everyone else in the
- 51:07family is doing this and I'm going to fix it.
- 51:09I'd love that though. Yeah, she's standing on the
- 51:12outside, just literally itching her hands together.
- 51:19As the pieces have mostly been
- 51:23asks for each of them to speak
- 51:26symbolizes to them. And of course, we have to start
- 51:30with Kody. It's not like she asked him.
- 51:32He just has to jump right in. And honey, because you've been
- 51:36basically bosom buddies with Kody this entire episode, I'd
- 51:39love for you to let our listeners know what Kody thinks.
- 51:42Because no one else is going to speak first.
- 51:44Kody's going to speak first. We have God at the top, which
- 51:48speaks to our spiritual enlightenment.
- 51:52Yes, of course. She was just channeling Brigham
- 51:55Young. Oh wow, wow.
- 51:59Meri likes how all of the pieces
- 52:04The Word family is enveloped by all of these words.
- 52:08She's trying to shake it out of her hands that she can't go in
- 52:12and fix this. Enveloping.
- 52:17Quite a word. I side note, I do like when
- 52:20people use the word enveloping
- 52:22naturally to me and every time I
- 52:25something being enveloped I'm going holy shit.
- 52:28Wow, that's quite a word. You know what I have to say,
- 52:31That's not an odd word for me to
- 52:32I feel like I use it in a normal
- 52:35Because in a normal way. I feel like I use it maybe
- 52:39regularly because it wasn't a standout to me like these other
- 52:44Rick and weird ass things that
- 52:48You have been enveloped. Kody points out that it is chaos
- 52:53and order, like their family trying to make order out of the
- 52:58chaos. Well, that's so lovely.
- 53:00That's such a great way of putting it, Kody.
- 53:03Robyn says. I like that it's not a perfect
- 53:06square. Once again chiming in the
- 53:11village idiot coming around the corner.
- 53:13It's not a perfect square. This is.
- 53:16Meri has to. Sing God.
- 53:18We do not fit in a box, do we?
- 53:28respect level hit an all time low for both Meri and Robyn.
- 53:32These two town fools the top foolery of.
- 53:37These two, I can't. I can't even.
- 53:40Janelle steps in with her bare
- 53:43else to tell us. She's going to get her hooves up
- 53:46in here. She's the only one without shoes
- 53:50in this clip. I have to tell you.
- 53:51Just got to get them dirty tootsies up in here and she
- 53:56shows them up, closing in on that circle with them toes and
- 53:59she says she doesn't think it should be balanced.
- 54:05And then they show her in shoes again and they pretend she's
- 54:10been wearing shoes the whole time.
- 54:12They show her in shoes the rest of the clip after they got.
- 54:16Some out of sequence shit here.
- 54:18After they zeroed in on her toes next to the blocks.
- 54:23Oh wow. Why do they want her feet in
- 54:25these shots so much? Which photographer has a foot
- 54:30fetish for Janelle? I love how I'm going, holy shit.
- 54:36Things are out of sequence. What does this mean?
- 54:37And you're like, which one of these freaks has a foot fetish?
- 54:40Which one of these? Freaks.
- 54:43Has given money to Janelle for a
- 54:45Well, I can't remember when it
- 54:48little piggy going to the market
- 54:51home. Remember she was going to sell
- 54:58Was that her? Was that someone else?
- 55:00The plague. Piggies.
- 55:00No, that was her. She put some dirty ass little
- 55:02pig piggies. On the bed.
- 55:05That's right, yeah. Janelle's only.
- 55:08Clot hoppered them clot hoppers up on there and they didn't even
- 55:16Filthy little piggy feet. They show this situation with
- 55:22the blocks and the words and they are trying to give Janelle
- 55:29her snap snap snap moment where she says I'm coming out of my
- 55:32own. I didn't even know how to such
- 55:37And they show her walking around to fix those blocks and they
- 55:40show her naked little tootsies on the floor right next to those
- 55:50are actually leather made together shoes.
- 55:53Yeah, black strappies. Yeah, they're like strappy
- 55:56sandals or whatever. They're like like Jesus sandals.
- 56:00And maybe not Jesusy sandals, but a little bit.
- 56:03I've never met him, you know. I think I have in a dream once
- 56:07or twice, but you know, that's
- 56:10They show her tootsies in the shoes, then afterwards.
- 56:14But on top of it. Why did they even have to pick
- 56:17that clip then? Yeah.
- 56:20Why even pick the clip of that?
- 56:22And why not just frankenbite over the whole thing with the
- 56:26shoes, The Dirty tootsies of it all?
- 56:29Yeah, someone is obsessed with. Conspiracy.
- 56:31Not only Janelle's dirty little piggy plague feet, but making
- 56:37her look weird and unkempt and strange.
- 56:42A wedgie picking the end thing that they always do to her by
- 56:46putting her on the end of the group, Yeah.
- 56:48Zooming in on her when she's like licking the side of her
- 56:51mouth and. Shit falling out.
- 56:54Yeah. Her almost falling out of the
- 56:58child sized desk. After struggling to get out in
- 57:03Who doesn't like her on this editing team?
- 57:08Because she's probably 1 of the nicest of the group.
- 57:13I don't understand it. Somebody has a vendetta or
- 57:18somebody likes Robyn so much that they want to make everyone
- 57:22else looked bad and she's just an easy target.
- 57:25She's low hanging fruit. Oh God, as they would say, man,
- 57:29it's conspiracy that I have. They try to make Janelle look
- 57:32awful every chance they get. I'm buying into the conspiracy.
- 57:35I love it, even if it's all
- 57:36made-up and part of this grand
- 57:39I'm going to make you rewatch this clip now because it's very
- 57:43weird. I can't.
- 57:44I can't. OK.
- 57:46Well, Janelle says. I would honestly change the
- 57:49picture because it doesn't have to be balanced.
- 57:53And you know, I just had to throw in the word picture again,
- 57:56honey, sorry, picture. As she's moving these pieces
- 58:00around, she's speaking out loud about why she's moving them and
- 58:04where she would move them. It's almost like she's narrating
- 58:06us through this process, her creative process.
- 58:09She's giving us insight into how
- 58:13block, square that Robyn thinks should happen into a piece of
- 58:17art on the floor next to her little pig piggy feet.
- 58:21Christine is just glad that this
- 58:24Yeah, it feels good. It looks good.
- 58:28It's beautiful. She starts getting almost, I
- 58:31felt like a little emotional. They didn't show her crying, but
- 58:34it seemed like she was on the verge of some sort of real feels
- 58:37here. Christine thinks the whole goal
- 58:39of this is actually to work on
- 58:41She doesn't understand that these whole thing, these the
- 58:45whole thing, she doesn't realize
- 58:50this whole thing. So Christina's so happy.
- 58:53Christina's so over the moon that they are finally figuring
- 58:58out the mission statement. Meanwhile, she doesn't
- 59:01understand that production's pulling the strings.
- 59:03Yeah. Well, she's inspired by this
- 59:06knock off homemade HomeGoods Hobby Lobby crap.
- 59:10So she thinks it's so good and
- 59:13I'm moved. I'm going to take pictures.
- 59:16I'm going to take out the camera
- 59:19wooden blocks. And now, to be fair, you know,
- 59:22we weren't trying to tear apart the exercise.
- 59:24The end result, as far as some
- 59:28I thought it looked OK. I don't know.
- 59:31I can't really judge though. I don't really know what it's
- 59:33supposed to look like. I thought it was a very good
- 59:35exercise. I guess I would photograph it if
- 59:38I thought it was inspiration for
- 59:41but otherwise I would probably
- 59:44them. I'd throw them away, burn them.
- 59:47If I thought of this time period, this is being filmed,
- 59:51feet pictures going into sand were a big thing, or feet
- 59:56pictures going into the bathtub or your legs going onto a chair
- 1:00:02looking over a sunset were a big
- 1:00:05So. This was a pretty popular type
- 1:00:09of photo to take for that time
- 1:00:11So you've got all their Tootsie's foots are covered
- 1:00:15here. Get all of the covered feet sees
- 1:00:17pointing in towards the blocks
- 1:00:20top. So you get the covered Tootsie's
- 1:00:23around the blocks all right. The word artist surrounded by
- 1:00:27all of their feet and she's taking the photo.
- 1:00:30It's the fan. Did I not make that clear?
- 1:00:32I'm. Just kidding.
- 1:00:33I didn't. No, you didn't.
- 1:00:35But I. Didn't.
- 1:00:36OK, I didn't at all. OK, yes, but that's the like,
- 1:00:38Christina, she's trying to photograph it.
- 1:00:40Like, Oh yeah, it's so inspirational.
- 1:00:41It's whatever everyone gathers
- 1:00:44the photo. Like, look at we're all
- 1:00:45symbolically here as adults around the thing.
- 1:00:48All the parents are taking photos around their beautiful
- 1:00:50word art. For all that wild explanation I
- 1:00:52just gave, I didn't tell you guys what happened.
- 1:00:56Thanks, Christopher. Listen, it's all good.
- 1:00:58Someone's got to be the man here
- 1:01:00what's really happening. God, thank God there's at least
- 1:01:03one of you here to put me in my place.
- 1:01:06Someone's got to be a feminist
- 1:01:09Yes, of course. As these photos are being taken,
- 1:01:12we start getting some voiceovers
- 1:01:14episode for us, and Kody, of course, gets to go first 'cause
- 1:01:18it's fucking Kody. And he says that he thinks
- 1:01:21Sedona was overall good. It changed them.
- 1:01:26Parts of it were awkward and it's not going to be easy moving
- 1:01:29forward, but it will help them
- 1:01:33Of course, Robyn has to be Robyn, honey.
- 1:01:36So we need to hear from Robyn.
- 1:01:39We need some Robyn here. I need to get to know Nancy
- 1:01:43better. I'm just scared that I'm going
- 1:01:47to lose Kody's ear. Somebody is going to try to
- 1:01:51balance the family out again and
- 1:01:54I can't lose Kody's ear to all
- 1:02:02That's not what she said. I think you.
- 1:02:06I think. You can I paraphrase that?
- 1:02:08Yeah, I take liberties. And your accent is crazier than
- 1:02:12ever. Oh.
- 1:02:13OK. Yeah, well, it was.
- 1:02:16I was not myself there. I'm so sorry.
- 1:02:17Robyn asked Rejected into my body, saying what she wished
- 1:02:21that she could have said back then.
- 1:02:22Oh, that's true. OK, well, Robyn needs to get to
- 1:02:26know Nancy better. Robyn doesn't trust Nancy.
- 1:02:31It's going to take time. She's still hesitant about
- 1:02:34working with someone who doesn't
- 1:02:37polygamist family. And I'm going your first
- 1:02:42therapist said that they didn't have any experience working
- 1:02:45with his family. But OK, Robyn, way to connect
- 1:02:48the dots. Way to be coherent, way to be
- 1:02:50even know what's going on around
- 1:02:53Fucking Robyn. In my mind I'm like, is she
- 1:02:55smart enough to think shit shit shit this could fuck up my
- 1:03:01spot. Or is she still so part of this
- 1:03:05cult that she believes that this person is dangerous for
- 1:03:08their family? Right.
- 1:03:09It's hard to know with her. She's a manipulator, really.
- 1:03:12Is it that she's so dumb she doesn't know what's going on?
- 1:03:16Or is she so smart that she knows what's going on and she
- 1:03:19has to play dumb? Oh, no, I just might lose Kody's
- 1:03:24No, no, no, we cannot have that. We cannot have that.
- 1:03:27No, absolutely not. And hot off the heels of Robyn's
- 1:03:34I think moving into our new homes and starting this new
- 1:03:37chapter in our family, it's going to be great because of our
- 1:03:41family mission statement and our
- 1:03:46So good. My God, you're right.
- 1:03:48This, so much of this has to be ushered into by production or
- 1:03:52at least prompted as we've talked about before, where
- 1:03:55it's like he's just putting everything in we.
- 1:03:57Paid for Pat to get out here to Arizona.
- 1:04:02This needs to accumulate to something we've got a bring it
- 1:04:07back to the family mission statement because God forbid we
- 1:04:10food pad out here to actually help the family.
- 1:04:12No, it needed to be a moment for
- 1:04:16Got a mission statement and a commitment ceremony coming up,
- 1:04:19and Kody feels like that's going
- 1:04:21everything that they've been working on, they're getting to
- 1:04:23that place. They're going to get there,
- 1:04:25honey. They're going to get there.
- 1:04:27And they show a cutaway similar to what they did with Meri and
- 1:04:31Kody on their honeymoon long, long ago over a rock overseeing
- 1:04:36them. And they show the family being
- 1:04:38all giddy and cute, taking pictures together over the red
- 1:04:41rocks. And it's a cutaway photo.
- 1:04:43And it's just magical, magical, magical.
- 1:04:46And I said to Chris, do you think this was supposed to be
- 1:04:49the season finale originally? It definitely had wrap up vibes.
- 1:04:56I agree with that. What stuck out to me is as this
- 1:04:59ending is happening, there's a
- 1:05:02says I think we're leaving here with a vague direction.
- 1:05:08Like the two things we're supposed to take away from this
- 1:05:10wrap up that are moving us in the right direction.
- 1:05:14Is Kody giving us some bullet points about a mission statement
- 1:05:17in the commitment ceremony coming up, which seemed
- 1:05:20production driven and just that's where we're going,
- 1:05:22clearly. And the other thing is Janelle
- 1:05:24saying that we're leaving with a
- 1:05:27So luckily this weekend with Pat
- 1:05:32us to a place that we can feel good about.
- 1:05:35And as you were saying, this is all happening over footage that
- 1:05:38is them climbing up a hillside, kind of.
- 1:05:42Red Rock Overview. There, it's that thing where
- 1:05:46they're far away, but they're zoomed in so that the background
- 1:05:48is blurred, you know, like this.
- 1:05:50It's the sentiment. It's a little different.
- 1:05:53It's a different aesthetic than the rest of the reality TV
- 1:05:57footage. Yeah.
- 1:05:57The feel is that it is being teed up for a conclusion and
- 1:06:02ending a what's going to happen next?
- 1:06:05But we don't even get an X step on no.
- 1:06:08And then we looked at what's Next up on and of course it's a
- 1:06:13tell all. It's a tell all in the middle of
- 1:06:16It would be interesting to know if they were anticipating that
- 1:06:22And then we would be having the next season be what's going to
- 1:06:32Oh, meanwhile I wonder. Well they got ordered more
- 1:06:36episodes for the season because it was making money and they
- 1:06:39thought we might as well release more episodes on this season.
- 1:06:42Especially if they were filming it all consecutively anyway and
- 1:06:45they were planning on breaking it up.
- 1:06:47Because we've had the same thing with the show throughout the
- 1:06:50life of it at this point is, well, did they even take a break
- 1:06:56blah. It's hard to tell.
- 1:06:58Well, even that finale was obviously shot during the first
- 1:07:02segment of their getaway where
- 1:07:05and being cutesy together and pushing Janelle into the photo.
- 1:07:08You know that was shot at that
- 1:07:13Yeah. It wasn't that they'd made him
- 1:07:15go up there again at the end and
- 1:07:19You know this is the contrived.
- 1:07:21Stage. Contrived reality of reality.
- 1:07:24TV. Yeah, well, well, what I what I
- 1:07:27don't want to say what gives me hesitation, but I'm going How is
- 1:07:33This is what's weird about TLC specifically, like these kind of
- 1:07:48content planning. Like we wouldn't do that.
- 1:07:50You wouldn't wrap up one season with what's going to happen at
- 1:07:52the end of the next season. You might do a cliffhanger for
- 1:07:55what starts at the next season.
- 1:07:57So bad planning, bad story arcs, bad everything.
- 1:08:01Yeah. Unlikable people, An unlikable
- 1:08:07Thanks. Waste your time with us on the
- 1:08:13deadbeat. Losers, deadbeat losers here
- 1:08:15watching this terrible show where nothing happens and yet we
- 1:08:21The original episode is 45 minutes, and here we are five
- 1:08:25hours later. Five hours later, people have
- 1:08:29come to expect certain things from us even though we are
- 1:08:32deadbeat losers, including mustard seed and shit stain.
- 1:08:34Dammit, they expect too much of us.
- 1:08:36Could you all lower your expectations please?
- 1:08:39Please. If you're still even here
- 1:08:41listening to this, what do you think, girl?
- 1:08:43What are you going to give us? Who's going to get your mustard
- 1:08:46seed? Brace yourselves, pull your cars
- 1:09:00I don't think so. I feel like.
- 1:09:02I feel like one of us has done it before.
- 1:09:04Correct us if we're wrong because.
- 1:09:06I was going to say some whoever's keeping track of the
- 1:09:11seed on her own. Shoulder to the arms of my
- 1:09:14chair, just like shaking myself violently.
- 1:09:16He's touched you. Well, yes, he has this episode,
- 1:09:22He has. He had good points during the
- 1:09:29therapy sessions. He failed as a father when
- 1:09:34talking to Leon about funding their college.
- 1:09:37Yes, yes, but that was long, long ago at the beginning of
- 1:09:41this episode. OK, let's forget about that.
- 1:09:44Kody had great points about the Sister Wives.
- 1:09:49If, and I'm playing complete devil's advocate here, I am
- 1:09:54playing from the side of this is their religion.
- 1:09:56This is why he's doing it, OK? He said.
- 1:10:00You know, you guys need to have relationships outside of me.
- 1:10:04I can't be the center of all of this if we are a family.
- 1:10:07The truth of that is that you would maintain the status of
- 1:10:12family after my passing on to the Celestial Kingdom.
- 1:10:16So if I as your prophet am dead and gone, you know.
- 1:10:23Sew those legs together. He's.
- 1:10:26Actually being truthful if he's speaking to his religion right
- 1:10:35towards the celestial Kingdom. Yeah, and even roping down that
- 1:10:40celestial Kingdom and bringing it down here to planet Earth,
- 1:10:43it's generally what should happen in a family.
- 1:10:45I mean, you should have relationships with each other,
- 1:10:49being the navigator or the problem solver or the whatever.
- 1:10:52It is true.
- 1:10:53So Ding Ding for Kody several times in this episode.
- 1:10:56Love me or hate me, that's where
- 1:11:01and. Just like Kody Brown, love me or
- 1:11:04hate me, my mustard seed for this episode goes to his loving
- 1:11:08wife Janelle. Because I did like that she took
- 1:11:13some, I don't know, she got a little gusto underneath her
- 1:11:16bosom. Her burning bosom turned into a
- 1:11:18creative bosom and she moved those blocks around as if it was
- 1:11:21her thing. And she did it in front of Meri
- 1:11:24while Meri was looking at her.
- 1:11:26those fucking blocks. I am Meri Brown.
- 1:11:29I move the blocks. Wife #1.
- 1:11:32Yes, she. You know, I'm so timid.
- 1:11:34I'm so scared of everyone all the time.
- 1:11:36Oh my God, how very dare you. And Janelle just stepped in
- 1:11:39there and moved those blocks as she damn well pleased and I
- 1:11:42applauded. I also wanted to take her little
- 1:11:46dirty piggy piggies and put them
- 1:11:50And admit that you have a fetish.
- 1:11:51And rub my tongue and roll my tongue all over those dirty
- 1:11:55little piggy piggies. Janelle, I will sign up for your
- 1:12:00Only fans and I will pay a lot.
- 1:12:03You heard it here first. Just to send your kids to
- 1:12:06college. Oh no, her kids.
- 1:12:09I thought I was talking about me.
- 1:12:10Oh God, that was wrong. To know I'm going to beg you
- 1:12:13right now to please pay off my student loans with them plaguey
- 1:12:17piggy feedies. Please, please, now that we've
- 1:12:24Or piggy piggies for longer than anyone's ever wanted to hear
- 1:12:28about Janelle's toes. Ever.
- 1:12:29Well, except for me, because of course I'm secretly obsessed.
- 1:12:31It's time for your shit stain, darling.
- 1:12:34My shit stain. It is going to go to Robyn
- 1:12:39Brown. It's probably partially because
- 1:12:42she actually is a piece of shit.
- 1:12:45And it's probably partially because Janelle used her dirty
- 1:12:48piggy piggy tootsies to roll up a loose sushi roll and fed it
- 1:12:53to Robyn. And Robyn got nauseous and had
- 1:13:01to miss a large part of this family retreat for God knows
- 1:13:08why. We don't know why, Robyn.
- 1:13:12And I think you're a dirty, dirty liar.
- 1:13:15And I think you told Kody something.
- 1:13:17And I think Kody stayed in your room that night and this is
- 1:13:20alleged and I think he stayed in
- 1:13:23And I think you pretended that, oh, you might have had a little
- 1:13:27bit of a tummy, a little morning
- 1:13:30still feel like going. And I don't think that you like
- 1:13:33therapy and I think you don't like that it's going to call you
- 1:13:36out for the person you are and
- 1:13:39family. And I think you're pretended to
- 1:13:41be pregnante be because of it.
- 1:13:46Wow. And it's all alleged.
- 1:13:47That is good girl. Allegedly.
- 1:13:50I do love this conspiracy theory
- 1:13:55with the nauseousness. It's one of those things would.
- 1:13:58You wear. Well, listen, it's one of those
- 1:14:00things where it's just far fetched off enough where like
- 1:14:03she does with the negligee tops,
- 1:14:07you go, this is ridiculous. Like I can't be thinking she's
- 1:14:11pretending to be nauseous because she's pregnant, or she's
- 1:14:14nauseous because she's pregnant,
- 1:14:17nauseous because she's pretending to be pregnant.
- 1:14:18You can't let yourself go there because it's just crazy enough.
- 1:14:22In all reality, she's the psycho
- 1:14:25She's manipulative and I think
- 1:14:29way to manipulate him. Yeah, I think the odds are in
- 1:14:34your favor for that assumption
- 1:14:37gamble money I don't have on it.
- 1:14:39Allegedly. So the smear in my underwear
- 1:14:43this week belongs to 1 Meri Brown.
- 1:14:46Meri, Meri. Quite contrary.
- 1:14:49I just struggle so much with believing you, and I want to
- 1:14:54believe you. Anyone who's listened to this
- 1:14:57show knows that I try to get on Team Meri.
- 1:15:00I try. I buy the tickets.
- 1:15:02I sit in the front row and I leave halfway through because I
- 1:15:07go, this is garbage. This is trash.
- 1:15:09And why don't you show us your feet?
- 1:15:11I say why aren't you showing your little piggy piggies Meri?
- 1:15:16I just can't believe her when
- 1:15:19she expresses her feelings sometimes.
- 1:15:22Might make me the king of the manosphere.
- 1:15:24Might make me someone who's UN
- 1:15:27an empath. I just don't believe her.
- 1:15:29I think it might not be an outright lie, but it is not
- 1:15:34positioning things correctly for
- 1:15:38express herself because of fear that she'll be labeled as
- 1:15:41abusive, well, that makes sense on paper, but when I'm watching
- 1:15:45the footage, I'm going girl, I
- 1:15:47I just don't believe it. I don't believe her, and I'm not
- 1:15:51saying she's a liar, but I don't
- 1:15:54She's a good actress. Oh, does she deserve an award?
- 1:16:00Well. She did get an award today.
- 1:16:02She got my shit stain. Show those feet first.
- 1:16:05Maybe feet. Show us those.
- 1:16:07Feet, our keep sweet moment this
- 1:16:11pivot from where this episode has brought us and our alleged
- 1:16:15slander. Is it light hearted?
- 1:16:20No. No, we could use some of that
- 1:16:24right now. Bring me back to reality.
- 1:16:27I'm here for it. This keeps me moment comes to us
- 1:16:29from Katie 2284 on YouTube and
- 1:16:35that the first time I saw a video from you, the opening song
- 1:16:38made me cry because my Papa would sing that to me when I was
- 1:16:42little. He passed away in 2003 and I
- 1:16:45hadn't heard that song since then.
- 1:16:47It was an instant subscribe in
- 1:16:51Heart emoji. Katie, that is super special.
- 1:16:55I love that you have that memory
- 1:16:58continue to listen to the show.
- 1:17:00And if you want to pay me for feet pictures, let me know
- 1:17:06because I could use it to pay for my own student loans.
- 1:17:11The. Connection from this heart
- 1:17:15warming tale of music that reminds her of her father.
- 1:17:20You're going to connect it to your dirty piggy piggy feet.
- 1:17:25I mean. I mean, they're not plaguey
- 1:17:27feet, they're just dirty. They could be plaguey.
- 1:17:30Oh. Let me call you sweet feet.
- 1:17:35I'm in love with feet. No, no, you cannot post that
- 1:17:44after that. This episode is so wrong.
- 1:17:48This episode is so wrong. I know I can't.
- 1:17:52This is so wrong. For the record, this may be our
- 1:18:11most cringe episode that I've ever felt while wrapping it up.
- 1:18:15Just so you guys know this.
- 1:18:16I don't know if this will make
- 1:18:20an all time low and you know, glad you were here for it.
