- 0:34Amber: Hello TPR Nation. This is Amber Kuhn, thank you for
- 0:37joining me on today's Follow up Friday, where I'll be recapping
- 0:41this week's episode highlights and action item. On Monday, Matt
- 0:45and Micah, we're talking about prospecting with how do you
- 0:48increase your reps and what are the things that you need to do
- 0:51to grow? They said the most successful practices are the
- 0:55ones that are the most intentional. And the advisors
- 0:58who have the most success with their prospecting are the ones
- 1:01who are intentional about doing the hard work. The guys stepped
- 1:05one step further to state that if you're not being hyper
- 1:08intentional with your time and carving time off with your
- 1:11family, while successfully growing your practice and moving
- 1:15that needle and being profitable - you're not successful in your
- 1:18practice, yet. They throw out some hard numbers as well, that
- 1:22you need to be grinding it out until you have a million dollars
- 1:25of revenue per advisor, that you're operating at a minimum
- 1:2950% profitability, you have a prospect pipeline that's
- 1:32generating 20% growth, and you're taking a significant
- 1:35amount of time to spend with your family or the out of the
- 1:38office. Now this listen to the negative about where advisors
- 1:42are in their practice, but instead to point out that you
- 1:45need to embrace the grind and focus on prospecting and being
- 1:48hyper intentional. With this. You need to be tracking your
- 1:52reps and your results, meaning you're writing them down. You
- 1:55need a trackable process so that you can see where you need that
- 1:59improvement in whatever prospecting system you're using.
- 2:02You need to have those check ins to see what's working. And you
- 2:06need to only do proven systems by those advisors that you want
- 2:09to model your practice after. And for anyone who has a
- 2:12somewhat established practice, the first thing that you need to
- 2:16do is measure where your existing clients came from with
- 2:19their names and the exact source. You also need to have
- 2:22three prospecting channels that you're always working on. The
- 2:26first is referrals. And the guys said, don't worry because
- 2:29everyone's doing referrals wrong. You need to have an
- 2:32intentional strategy about how you're going to grow your
- 2:35referrals. And with this, you have to deliver value that
- 2:38exceeds whatever the prospect or client thought they were going
- 2:42to get. In terms of counting reps for this the guys showed a
- 2:45few different options you can look at and that you need to be
- 2:49counting this every week. The other two channels you need to
- 2:52pick is dependent on you. There's a lot of strategies that
- 2:56work but you need to look at which ones you're willing to do
- 2:59the work and to every week for at least two years. And don't do
- 3:03something just because someone else is doing it. Matt and Micah
- 3:06talked about COI and the centers of influence and how you're
- 3:10engaging with them in your area and positioning yourself to show
- 3:13that you help clients in those areas as well. Now this has to
- 3:17be about what's in it for them too. It can't be all about you
- 3:20networking is another area but Micah cautions that 99% of
- 3:24people should avoid doing this. Matt gets a lot of his clients
- 3:27from networking, and he said that if you're going to do this,
- 3:31you need to do a dream 100 concept and that is long term
- 3:34strategy. Another option is seminars and educational events
- 3:37and this is something that Micah has been doing for years he does
- 3:41this so that the people attending walk away with the
- 3:44most value possible, and it highlights his area of
- 3:47expertise. But this is something that takes months of practice
- 3:50and development to implement. On top of filling the seats. They
- 3:54also highlighted content creation. Now this is where a
- 3:57lot of advisors go wrong thinking that they could just do
- 4:00random posts or random content. You really want to go in depth
- 4:04on a few things, but also really look at what those things are.
- 4:08There's a long strategy and process that's involved in this.
- 4:11Now for any of the strategies that the guys mentioned. It
- 4:14starts with taking action and doing a strategy that works.
- 4:18Find an advisor who you respect, and whose practice you respect,
- 4:21implement the systems that they have also realized that with
- 4:25prospecting, you can't win the money game, but you can win the
- 4:28upper game. Let's get an action items. You need a prospect
- 4:32tracking system so you can break your key steps down and figure
- 4:35out what your three channels are and track the reps that you're
- 4:39going to do. And you also need to define in writing who is your
- 4:42ideal client? Maybe call to this week's World's to Conquer encore
- 4:46episode Jamie walk they're a part of a prospect process
- 4:49related to the information that prospects are requested to
- 4:53provide prior to their initial meeting. A few points that Jamie
- 4:56shared prior to diving into the information portion was to make
- 5:00sure your team understands the basics and the difference
- 5:03between a prospect and a client. And that's just because a
- 5:06prospect reaches out and wants to hire you, it doesn't mean you
- 5:10need to take them on as a client and you want to use the no sell
- 5:14sell approach and a profit meeting. This is by delivering
- 5:17so much value during that initial meeting, you're not
- 5:20going to pitch the prospect. If you have inundated them with
- 5:23value, the prospect is going to ask how they can continue to
- 5:27work with you. Jimmy then went over what they asked a prospect
- 5:30to bring during the initial meeting. The relationship
- 5:33manager will verbally go through the requested items and they'll
- 5:37also send over a written list. Jamie then went in depth over
- 5:40the personal financial factfinder which really sets the
- 5:44tone for what they'll do during their analysis. Now members if
- 5:47you're interested in viewing this webinar, visit a member
- 5:50site in search factfinder so you can access the document. Jamie's
- 5:54then went into detail in each section for that from family
- 5:57data, employer benefits to cash flow and goals. Then they'll
- 6:01finish with any questions of a prospect has and include the
- 6:04checklist of documents needed to include for that initial
- 6:08meeting. Jamie so the process will give them as much
- 6:10information as possible because they're paying for this meeting.
- 6:14So they want to share this information with you to get the
- 6:17most out of the meeting. The relationship manager will also
- 6:21ask the prospect what questions they want to ask during the
- 6:24meeting. Jamie said this is usually around five questions
- 6:28and what's great is that it arms you as the advisor with the
- 6:31ability to answer these questions during the
- 6:33consultation. And you can begin building that financial plan
- 6:37with all this information if that prospect does move forward
- 6:40with hiring you as their advisor. Now when the prospect
- 6:43appointment finishes, Jamie will ask if the meeting was valuable
- 6:47and what other questions they have. Jamie knows that the
- 6:50prospect will likely have questions after the meeting as
- 6:54well. And she calls us the parking lot rule which is that
- 6:57as soon as they leave, they'll think of all the questions that
- 7:00they didn't ask. Now if they're quick questions on something we
- 7:04discussed in the meeting, they'll normally answer them but
- 7:07if there's additional questions, then that will require either an
- 7:11additional consultation or then becoming a client. Let's get on
- 7:15to action items. Remember, you don't have to work with
- 7:18everyone. And when you're meeting with a prospect, ask for
- 7:21a lot of information. But make sure that you're being
- 7:24intentional about how you're prepping for that appointment.
- 7:27During the consultation, make sure that you're answering the
- 7:31prospects question and end your meeting asking the prospect if
- 7:34they felt the meeting was valuable. If you're delivering
- 7:38that value and practicing that no sell sell, then the prospect
- 7:41will almost always say yes. Before we go TPR Nation if
