- 0:00Until someone actively takes up the spiritual path and
- 0:04consciously begins to focus on the significance of his life and
- 0:08the purpose of the manifestation, the question of
- 0:12progress for the psychic being does not even arise.
- 0:16The progress takes place, but it happens without appreciation or
- 0:20acknowledgement by the individual who is absorbed in
- 0:24the outer life and focused on the development of the ego
- 0:28personality and its measure of success in the world.
- 0:33Up until the individual consciously takes up the work,
- 0:37the progress in terms of growth and development of the psychic
- 0:40being takes place, and it will continue with the aid of the
- 0:44conscious participation of the spiritual seeker.
- 0:49Eventually, the fully developed and manifested psychic being is
- 0:53confronted with choices and the freedom to make the choice
- 0:57without anyone judging that choice.
- 1:01The choices include leaving the manifestation for permanent
- 1:05residence in what might be called the psychic world or
- 1:08domain or any other world or heaven, gaining the freedom to
- 1:14depart but turning back to assist others in reaching that
- 1:19point. That is the Bodhisattva vow and
- 1:23voluntarily choosing to return to support the divine
- 1:27manifestation in its evolutionary program.
- 1:32Assuming the soul is chosen to return and work towards either
- 1:35universal liberation or evolutionary development, it
- 1:40then looks to how to best refine, develop and utilize its
- 1:45external being, the instruments of action in the world, body,
- 1:49life and mind. There is a progressive
- 1:53development possible here as well.
- 1:55The ability to more perfectly represent and express the
- 1:59spiritual force and the psychic aspiration is an important
- 2:04aspect of the role of the psychic being in the general
- 2:08evolutionary process. A disciple asks, does the
- 2:14psychic being always progress? The Mother responds quote.
- 2:21There are in the psychic being 2 very different kinds of
- 2:24progress, 1 consisting in its formation.
- 2:27Building an organization for the psychic starts by being only a
- 2:32kind of tiny divine spark inside the being, and out of this spark
- 2:37will emerge progressively. An independent conscious being
- 2:41have it having its own action and will.
- 2:46The psychic being at its origin is only a spark of the divine
- 2:49consciousness, and it is through successive lives that it builds
- 2:54up a conscious individuality. It is a progress similar to that
- 2:58of a growing child. It is a thing in the making for
- 3:03a long time in most human beings.
- 3:05The psychic is a being in the making.
- 3:08It is not a fully individualized, fully conscious
- 3:12being and master of itself, and it needs all its rebirths, one
- 3:17after another in order to build itself and become fully
- 3:22conscious. But this sort of progress has an
- 3:26end. There comes a time when the
- 3:28being is fully developed, fully individualized, fully master of
- 3:33itself and its destiny, when this being, or one of these
- 3:38psychic beings at that state, takes birth in a human being.
- 3:43That makes a very great difference.
- 3:46The human being, so to say, is Born Free.
- 3:50He is not tied to circumstances, to surroundings, to his origin
- 3:55and atavism. Like ordinary people, he comes
- 3:58into the world with the purpose of doing something, with a work
- 4:02to carry out, a mission to fulfill.
- 4:05From this point of view, his progress in growth has come to
- 4:09an end, That is, it is not indispensable for him to take
- 4:13birth again in a body. Till then rebirth is a
- 4:17necessity, for it is through rebirth that he grows.
- 4:21It is in the physical life and in a physical body that he
- 4:24gradually develops and becomes a fully conscious being.
- 4:30But once he is fully formed, he is free in this sense that he
- 4:35can take birth or not at will. So there one kind of progress
- 4:40stops. But if this fully formed being
- 4:44wants to become an instrument of work for the Divine, if instead
- 4:49of retiring to repose in a psychic bliss in its own domain,
- 4:53he chooses to be a worker upon earth to help in the fulfillment
- 4:57of the divine work, then he has a fresh progress to make a
- 5:02progress in the capacity for work, for organization of his
- 5:06work, and for expression of the divine will.
- 5:11So there is a time when the thing changes.
- 5:13So long as he remains in the world, so long as he chooses to
- 5:18work for the divine, he will progress.
- 5:21Only if he withdraws into the psychic world and refuses to
- 5:25continue doing the divine work or renounces it, can he remain
- 5:30in a static condition outside all progress.
- 5:33Because, as I have told you, only upon earth is there
- 5:37progress, only in the physical world.
- 5:41It is not acquired. Everywhere in the psychic world
- 5:45there is a kind of blissful repose.
- 5:48One remains what 1 is without any movement.
