- 0:00Yeah, so a bit about the band. So how did I say this.
- 0:04We're a fairly new band in the eyes of the public, but we've
- 0:08actually been around since like October twenty twenty because during the lockdowns and all that,
- 0:15we couldn't really get moving. We couldn't really do anything until after the
- 0:20lockdowns ended, so we didn't actually start doing anything until maybe that twenty twenty
- 0:25two. Yeah, so who we started recording I'm Still and Famine, and
- 0:34then last year we started recording Corrosion and our other single. So it's been
- 0:42a slow process just because of all the hoops that we had to jump through.
- 0:47You know, we kept getting lined up changes too, because like the
- 0:51instability of just because we tried to do something during lockdowns and COVID and all
- 0:58that, the instability of it made it very hard for us to progress and
- 1:03actually do anything. So we kept having members come and go and it was
- 1:07just very hard. But I'm glad. I think we finally we've gotten some
- 1:11very decent people that we get along with, all great musicians, and I
- 1:15think that now that we've pushed out a few singles, things are starting to
- 1:19actually remove for us, so hopefully we can kind of continue that beautiful guys.
- 1:26Thanks. Who else have we got here? Tommy? I played drums.
- 1:32I put up a post on a Melbourne Music Forum thing saying like I
- 1:37was looking for certain members to be in a certain band, and yeah I've
- 1:40met Ash and from there we just met other people and now we're here,
- 1:42so fantassic. That'll do us, guys, were good today, a little
- 1:47bit better. But the real reason we are here is a band. This
- 1:51point forward our premiering your new music video for the song Corrosion by Heavy on
- 1:56Tuesday, July sixteenth at five pm. Like, how feel about it,
- 2:00guys, It's been a bit of work together here. Oh yeah, excited.
- 2:05I think this since the first time the band has ever gotten any sort
- 2:08of you know, decent coverage. Sure, thanks to Tom for that,
- 2:14because Tom was the one who obviously reached out and organized all this. And
- 2:19thank you for giving us a chance as well to actually premiere us on Heavy
- 2:23magazine. Pleasure. Yeah, yeah, it's to be hone, Like,
- 2:27we've seen Heavy Magazine for years and you know, we've always like be like,
- 2:30oh maybe one day we'll do something, you know, like so it's
- 2:34good so hopefully we can help you guys. But tell us a bit more
- 2:38about that about this song, I guess from a musical point of view and
- 2:39what you're going for with it, you're you're you're the key writer, you
- 2:46know. Yeah, So what what we were trying to do initially as a
- 2:50band, as we were trying to bring about bring back post hardcore as the
- 2:53genre because we we really enjoy collectively as a band, we really enjoyed the
- 3:00old school sound of post hardcore. Not too old school, but I'm talking
- 3:02about back in the twenty tens. That's when I really got into post hardcore,
- 3:08and we really wanted to bring back that sound because we found that a
- 3:12lot of post hardcore bands have started moving away from that sort of sound.
- 3:16Yeah, and we want to bring that back. And we are not at
- 3:22all opposed to newer elements of music and the evolution of post hardcore. We
- 3:28just would like we we missed that nostalgia, you know, of that sound,
- 3:31and we just we we kind of wanted to bring that back along with
- 3:36the new elements, you know. And just really for me, it was
- 3:38more of like, if I can't find that sort of music, I'm going
- 3:43to make that sort of music. Yeah, I've been into post hardcore for
- 3:47longer than that. Actually, I've been sort of like dabbling in it since
- 3:51like two thousand and four. And yeah, like I like started off with
- 3:54like bands like they used and didn't get away playing like Australian, you know,
- 4:00but with their whole Conversation EP, which I love, and like even
- 4:03earlier than that, you know, like behind Crumbs and Eves even as well,
- 4:05big big inspiration for us, and you know when I was my old
- 4:09band, like, they were so so kind to us and like roagi for
- 4:12us and stuff at like punk Fest and things like that. So yeah,
- 4:15there's been a good time and I'm glad to I wouldn't say we're like maybe
- 4:18the only band doing post hardcore at the moment. I'm sure there's plenty out
- 4:20there that are, but I mean, like I'm not so much directed at
- 4:25the sound that we miss in love from those those days got on way,
- 4:28you know. So yeah, yeah, that's what with Famine and Unstill and
- 4:33then with Corrosion obviously it's a slightly heavier song than our first two singles,
- 4:40and I think that the reason for that is because over the years I've kind
- 4:43of kind of my my taste and heavy music have sort of expanded and instead
- 4:49of just post hardcore, started listening to metal core and you know, all
- 4:53the other core genres that are out there, and I like to dabble in
- 4:58a bit of metal core as well because I just really enjoy that heaviness as
- 5:02well. That post hardcore doesn't really sort of it's not the same amount of
- 5:09heavy in my opinion as metal core. So but like it's sort of an
- 5:13amalgamation. So Corrosion is an amalgamation of what I love about post hardcore and
- 5:16what I love about metal core, and sot of just putting the two together
- 5:20and still get that melodic sound, that melodic post hardcore sound with the riffs
- 5:27that are present in our previous two singles. Right now. You did mention
- 5:32it in the press race as well, that Prosian is a heavier song than
- 5:35the other two. So it's heavier song today. So how are you describing
- 5:40heavy? Like? Is it in terms of conchanda? Is it in terms
- 5:43of breakdowns? Like how we describe it heavy here? Yeah? Just the
- 5:46amount of riffs that isn't it. I would say there's a bit more chugging
- 5:50going on in that, a bit more screams. It's probably our most scream
- 5:55heavy song. I would say most double kicker film as well, like but
- 6:01not not solid double kickers. It's just like random, like sporadic ones here
- 6:04and then I wouldn't say random, but you know what I mean. I
- 6:10think production wise as well. Production wise, we've really stepped up for Corrosion
- 6:15because we decided to go with someone who is well known for producing heavy music
- 6:20in our current industry. I think you know Chris Slalik from wind Waker yep.
- 6:26Yeah, so he's very very popular because he does such a good job
- 6:30at producing these heavy tracks and he made the song sound. I have to
- 6:34credit him because honestly, it would not sound the way it sounds if it
- 6:39wasn't for his production. So a lot of heaviness also comes from his production
- 6:43as well. Very cool. Now we actually premiering the film clip, but
- 6:48I know you guys have put a lot of time into this and getting it
- 6:50right. So how does a film clip relate to this isl Well, what
- 6:57we liked about Erosion is so Tom. Actually I'm going to credit Tom for
- 7:02this because he actually started designing sort of cover art for the Sun. Yeah.
- 7:09Oh, do you want to talk more about this? Tom? To
- 7:12you know, so, I know, I was just designed coming up with
- 7:15different ideas and stuff to like work on for the cover art, and we
- 7:18had many ideas, and I kind of wanted to go with like a horror
- 7:20sort of vibe just because we feel that this song maybe you know, maybe
- 7:26not it's lyrical content or whatever. It isn't like super related to horror or
- 7:30anything like that, you know, but at the same time, the song
- 7:32has a very like sort of dark, gritty feeling, so I wanted to
- 7:35go with that sort of design and from there on, and we kind of
- 7:38just decided that we go for like a heavy sort of like heavy dark and
- 7:44horror vibe tone for the video clip, for the like the promotion all that
- 7:47sort of stuff, and be like centered around a horror vibe. So when
- 7:51we came to do the music video, we were very limited in what we
- 7:55could do with the music video because of budget constraints. We just spent so
- 7:59much money on the actual songs themselves and everything like that, and you know,
- 8:03our band isn't the most well off money wise. You know, we're
- 8:05pretty uh, we're pushing it sometimes, you know, we all are.
- 8:09By yeah, and like, h of course it's I'm sure every band wrestles
- 8:13with that too, you know, but yeah, we seem to wrestle with
- 8:16a lot more. I don't know, it feels like I'm wrestling a giant
- 8:18bear. I'm Alex a terrible I'm sort of the prevailer of us all of
- 8:20a sudden. No. But yeah, Like so we went with the horror
- 8:24vibe and we like, did this like sort of cool idea for a music
- 8:28video. We've got a really cool like abandoned warehouse and all that, and
- 8:31it's like covered in graffiti. It's dirty, it's dingy, it's dusky and
- 8:37dark as well, and we wanted a very dark, cold, bluish sort
- 8:39of tones of music GEO two, which helps add to the horror vibe.
- 8:43And while Ash hasn't seen a fully finished product yet, you will after this.
- 8:48Hopefully she approves, because if not, I'm working on d again.
- 8:50So but yeah, I mean, what do you think about that? Is
- 8:56that good explanation? Ash? Yeah, fantastic. I think that once I
- 9:01saw Tom's vision for you know, the whole horror element, I really got
- 9:05on board. I'm like, yeah, that kind of works with the song
- 9:07because the song itself is about the breakdown of relationships, like whatever relationship it
- 9:13is, friendship, you know, you know, a love relationship. I
- 9:18think that there's a really really sad but there's really sad but very very possible
- 9:26chance of any relationship just breaking down just like that. You know, like
- 9:31someone you thought you've known forever, someone that you you fully trust, and
- 9:35then you know they either betray your trust or you realize in the end that
- 9:39they're not who you thought they were. You know, I think all of
- 9:43us have had to relate to that too, you know, like I've had
- 9:46a lot of people in my life that I would think were my best mates
- 9:48and stuff, and now we're on mates. You know, yeah, I
- 9:54think you know, unfortunately, yeah, because it's just basically talking about how
- 9:58reallyationships breakdown and corrode and you know, it's a really sad reality. But
- 10:03I'm sure that everyone can relate to it because we've all had to go through
- 10:07that at some point. So having that theme of corrosion and just the horror
- 10:15element and you know, the breakdown of things, and I think that everything
- 10:20just kind of went well together in terms of the vibe. Yes set mentioned
- 10:26the previous singles Spamming and I'm Still So Together, You've got three songs out
- 10:30now, So have they stand alone singles? Are they part of a bigger
- 10:33album? MA rep picture to you explained this, Tom, Yeah, just
- 10:39because I kind of had the vision of that. What we're going to do
- 10:43is going to release all the songs separately, the singles, and then at
- 10:48the end give people an option to purchase it all in one EP. But
- 10:52we're going to add on a bonus two tracks or maybe something like that,
- 10:56just to make it more worth people's while if they've already heard all the songs
- 11:00and stuff. You know, we want people to get something new out of
- 11:01it when we do launch as our full package. You know, we'll be
- 11:05doing that eventually, we will be releasing it as a pool release, but
- 11:09at the moment it's just going to be singles up until we see the ape's
- 11:13ready sorting, you know. So here, Sorry, sorry gone, Like
- 11:20I didn't I feel oh now, I was just I was just going to
- 11:24add to that. So the reason why we're releasing all these singles at the
- 11:28moment is because we are fairly unknown, banned, Like, we're not really
- 11:31well known. So I think the best way to get attention and to capture,
- 11:35you know, sort of an audience is to release these songs as singles
- 11:41and then once we've got a bit of a following to then all right,
- 11:45here are these singles that we're gonna present to all of you who already know
- 11:48us, Like this is all of it in one package for you. So
- 11:52that's what we were planning on doing with that. And the other thing that
- 11:56we've urged is now is like if we can get every song as a single
- 12:00pretty much off the AP, that everyone's going to know every song back to
- 12:03front off that EP, rather than a lot of songs getting lost in the
- 12:07shuffle with the other songs or you know, songs that don't grab people at
- 12:09first might grab them later, rather than them having them go back to the
- 12:13CD and put it in or whatever, or you know, pull it up
- 12:16on their iTunes or whatever and listen to it again. And I think it's
- 12:20just like we want, we want the attention on every song, not just
- 12:22songs to get lost, you know. So yeah, that's smart thinking,
- 12:26guys, very smart thinking. It's all Tom. He's their genius when it
- 12:31comes to the marketing stuff. I'm mutually horrible at that. Ah that Mu's
- 12:35got to be good at today. Yeah, i'm I'm. I love writing
- 12:39and I love recording and performing, but when it comes to that sort of
- 12:43that side of the band, I think I leave that to Tom. Yeah,
- 12:46I love it. I love it very good, guys, Right well,
- 12:50thanks very much, good time. It's been a pleasure getting to know
- 12:54you. The single Corrosion From This Point Forward, premieres by a Heavy Tuesday,
- 12:58July sixteenth to five. I can't top it on the video because I
- 13:01haven't seen it, but the songs are cracky, guys, So congratulations and
- 13:03best of black with it. Oh yeah, I really appreciate me. I'm
- 13:09really on it that you like it.
