Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello, my name is Aaron Randolph, and today I'm going
- 0:06Speaker 1: to make something less than podcast history. I'm going to
- 0:10Speaker 1: put up five thousand pennies of my own money.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Then I'm better at game shows than you. So if
- 0:16Speaker 2: you're intelligent enough and quick enough, and if you've got
- 0:19Speaker 2: nerves of steel, no, not even steel, nerves of rubber, no.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Nerves of cotton, even though you can win Aaron Randolph's money.
- 0:31Speaker 4: You know him as book Daddy, but today he's going
- 0:34Speaker 4: to be on the receiving end of uspanking. It's Airy Rannold.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Thank you for that lovely, lovely introduction to F Jeff.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Yes, it's me Aaron Randolph, and I am putting fifty
- 0:52Speaker 3: bucks of my own money on the line that I
- 0:54Speaker 3: cannot be beaten at game shows. It's going to be
- 0:57Speaker 3: a monthly show. This is our first iteration of it.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I'm really hoping to go as well. And we've picked
- 1:02Speaker 3: a banger of a game. But before we get to that,
- 1:06Speaker 3: I got to introduce first the voice you just heard
- 1:08Speaker 3: our guest host for this episode. You know him as
- 1:11Speaker 3: two F Jeff from the Suggested Articles podcast.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Jeff, what's up?
- 1:16Speaker 4: Hey? What's up? Is boy? My blood pressure being the
- 1:23Speaker 4: first to do this game show series is a little
- 1:26Speaker 4: much for me, but I've all deep down inside, I've
- 1:28Speaker 4: always wanted to be a game show host, So I.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Mean, this is your chance, and I have a feeling
- 1:34Speaker 3: you're gonna knock it out of the park. And we
- 1:37Speaker 3: also have to introduce my opponents somewhat volun told into
- 1:42Speaker 3: the role.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Today.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Aggie was going to face me, but unfortunately, due to
- 1:47Speaker 3: time difficulties, Aggie couldn't be here.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So instead he's a veteran and a podcaster, and a
- 1:53Speaker 2: veteran podcaster, it's Stevie.
- 1:55Speaker 5: What's up, everybody, And just like being a veteran being
- 1:58Speaker 5: volunt told, Yeah, that was the major already in my military.
- 2:02Speaker 2: That's kind of how it works. Yeah, I get it.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I get it.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Anyway, let's talk today's game because I am so excited.
- 2:10Speaker 3: This is one of the first game shows I saw
- 2:13Speaker 3: as a child. I remember it very clearly, watching it
- 2:16Speaker 3: in a block with the Jokers, wild I think on CBS,
- 2:21Speaker 3: but it could have been like rerun somewhere else. I
- 2:23Speaker 3: don't know, but it is the magnificent from all the
- 2:28Speaker 3: way back in the fifties.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Tic Tac dough, Yes, fifties.
- 2:35Speaker 4: You know I didn't read the history. I didn't.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Well, I got the history right here, and we're gonna
- 2:40Speaker 3: go over it real quick, because this show does have
- 2:42Speaker 3: a long and storied history. Tic Tac Dough is a
- 2:44Speaker 3: game show very obviously based on the paper and pencil
- 2:47Speaker 3: game of Tic Tac Doe. There have been four versions
- 2:51Speaker 3: of it so far, the first in the nineteen fifties,
- 2:55Speaker 3: the second and most popular run from nineteen seventy eight
- 2:58Speaker 3: to nineteen eighty six, hosted by Wink Martindale, and then
- 3:02Speaker 3: shortly thereafter. But Jim Caldwell, the less said about him,
- 3:05Speaker 3: the better, He absolutely tanked the show. If you were
- 3:10Speaker 3: to go to an AI and type in Bland white Man,
- 3:13Speaker 3: he's what would come up. There was a very short
- 3:20Speaker 3: nineties revival of the show, very short, again not the
- 3:25Speaker 3: best iteration, and most recently it now airs on Game
- 3:29Speaker 3: Show Network, hosted by Brooke Burns.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Again the less said about that.
- 3:33Speaker 3: The better gameplay is typically two contestants trying to complete
- 3:38Speaker 3: a line of x's or o's on a Tic tac
- 3:40Speaker 3: toe board with nine spaces. The spaces are filled with
- 3:43Speaker 3: various categories. The players get asked a question on that category.
- 3:47Speaker 3: If they get it right, they get the box and
- 3:49Speaker 3: their symbol is.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Put in it.
- 3:50Speaker 3: If they don't get it right, nothing happens. The box
- 3:52Speaker 3: goes unclaimed, the categories get shuffled between questions, and the
- 3:57Speaker 3: center square being of strategic importance is usually a harder
- 4:01Speaker 3: two part question for a higher dollar amount. If the
- 4:05Speaker 3: game ends in a tie, a new game is started
- 4:08Speaker 3: with new categories and the pot is rolled over. The
- 4:11Speaker 3: most successful run by far is the eighties run in syndication.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Players could keep playing as long as they kept winning,
- 4:19Speaker 3: and several players won over one hundred thousand dollars, but
- 4:23Speaker 3: the Tic Tac Dough King undisputed was Tom McKee, a
- 4:29Speaker 3: Navy man who defeated forty three opponents in a row
- 4:34Speaker 3: and amassed three hundred and twelve thousand, seven hundred dollars,
- 4:38Speaker 3: including eight cars and over two hundred thousand dollars in cash.
- 4:44Speaker 3: He was the biggest winner in game show history for
- 4:47Speaker 3: nearly twenty years until Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
- 4:51Speaker 3: came out and a contestant won a half a million
- 4:54Speaker 3: in nineteen ninety nine.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Oh my god, and.
- 4:58Speaker 4: That's what I've got on the hitt nineteen eighties money.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that was nineteen eighties money. He made out big.
- 5:04Speaker 5: That's crazy. Could you imagine, like not not even like
- 5:08Speaker 5: the spectacular feet of beating that many contestants, but then
- 5:11Speaker 5: like coming home like, yeah, I got eight cars in
- 5:13Speaker 5: my freaking garage. Yeah, yeah, from what playing tic.
- 5:16Speaker 3: TAC though, like I'm fairly certain they sold at least
- 5:19Speaker 3: six of them.
- 5:20Speaker 5: I mean, there's no reason you.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Honestly eight cars a bit much, but yeah, to be fair, Uh,
- 5:29Speaker 4: he was.
- 5:29Speaker 3: He was the star of the show. His his wife
- 5:32Speaker 3: Jenny came to I think every shoot wow, and I
- 5:36Speaker 3: mean she was dropped at gorgeous. She had like she
- 5:40Speaker 3: had like an anime face really just literally like perfect, flawless,
- 5:46Speaker 3: like absolutely so I think half the viewers turned in
- 5:49Speaker 3: just to watch her, honestly. But he was he was
- 5:53Speaker 3: unstoppable like he was. He was the Ken Jennings of
- 5:56Speaker 3: that generation. Nice absolutely just stomped it and just did
- 6:00Speaker 3: an amazing job.
- 6:01Speaker 2: So that I mean, I don't I didn't see that
- 6:04Speaker 2: run live.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I've only heard of it and caught like parts of it,
- 6:08Speaker 3: like up on YouTube, where some people have posted some
- 6:10Speaker 3: of the Game Show Network reruns where they featured some
- 6:13Speaker 3: of the best episodes from Tom McKee's run.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But yeah, it's a it's a it's a.
- 6:20Speaker 3: There was a show I just remember like being one
- 6:24Speaker 3: of the first to like capture my imagination as a
- 6:26Speaker 3: kid and be like, I love this, I want more
- 6:30Speaker 3: of this, you know.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it was one of my favorite game shows growing up,
- 6:36Speaker 4: and I'm not even sure why. I think it must
- 6:38Speaker 4: have been the Charm of Wink Martindale. But also the Dragon. Yes, yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 4: that was always into dragons.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I neglected to mention forgot the beat.
- 6:48Speaker 3: The Dragon Bonus game was an invention specifically for the
- 6:52Speaker 3: eighties version. The fifties version didn't even have it. Of course,
- 6:55Speaker 3: the fifties version didn't have TVs to show the categories
- 6:59Speaker 3: and the x's, and instead they had like rolling cylinders
- 7:04Speaker 3: on like a rack of three you know, three by
- 7:07Speaker 3: three and nine square grid and this the cylinders would
- 7:11Speaker 3: roll to shuffle the category to the next one, and
- 7:14Speaker 3: they would shine an xer and ozer in light on whichever.
- 7:19Speaker 2: By the contestants.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I have to find that.
- 7:22Speaker 2: For nineteen fifty technology, it was pretty good.
- 7:24Speaker 4: You know, it was pretty good. They were inventive. Let's
- 7:27Speaker 4: just say, well, how did those cylinders roll. There was
- 7:30Speaker 4: probably a dude standing behind the game board. Man, I
- 7:34Speaker 4: assume there was somebody back there just rolling them all
- 7:37Speaker 4: by it, or maybe there was like a.
- 7:40Speaker 2: There was like the turning wheel.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I don't know, but yeah, beat the Dragon was an
- 7:44Speaker 4: invention specifically for the eighties version, and the we'll play
- 7:49Speaker 4: the bonus round because you know, why not, but uh,
- 7:55Speaker 4: the fifty dollars is dependent on whether or not Stevie
- 7:58Speaker 4: beats me in the front game because it just to
- 8:00Speaker 4: be clear, just to be clear, but we can play
- 8:03Speaker 4: the bonus round for fun.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Hell yeah, yeah, why not?
- 8:07Speaker 3: But yeah, the bonus round was great. It again, you
- 8:10Speaker 3: had the nine squares. One of them held a dragon
- 8:13Speaker 3: who would instantly end your bonus round, so you could
- 8:15Speaker 3: stop at any time and keep the money you'd want.
- 8:18Speaker 3: But the other squares had varying dollar amounts from one
- 8:21Speaker 3: hundred dollars to five hundred dollars, and there was a
- 8:24Speaker 3: tick and attack on the board as well, so if
- 8:26Speaker 3: you found the tick and the attack, you instantly won.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Your total instantly shot up to one thousand dollars, or
- 8:31Speaker 2: you had to get.
- 8:32Speaker 3: To one thousand dollars in cash. Either way would win
- 8:35Speaker 3: you the game. I think it's kind of a brilliant
- 8:38Speaker 3: setup because it sounds like, oh great, I just need
- 8:40Speaker 3: to find two squares to win. Yeah, but if you're
- 8:44Speaker 3: trying to get the money and you find one of
- 8:46Speaker 3: the tick or the Tex squares, you're kind of like, Okay,
- 8:48Speaker 3: that's kind of a useless square now. So it actually
- 8:52Speaker 3: kind of slows you down a little bit having the
- 8:53Speaker 3: two competing methods of winning, you know, in a weird way.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I think it actually raises the average number of squares
- 9:00Speaker 3: needed to win the bonus round.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Right, I'm not I haven't done the math, but it's
- 9:05Speaker 2: just just a theory I have about it.
- 9:08Speaker 4: But yeah, the uh beat the Dragon round carried through
- 9:14Speaker 4: into the nineties version. Is it still there today?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Uh?
- 9:18Speaker 3: In the nineties version it was slightly altered. Instead of
- 9:22Speaker 3: money amounts, there was a dragon and a dragon slayer.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's right. The night Oh man, those were
- 9:27Speaker 4: the saddest, like something. There's something special about the original dragon.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Hopefully we'll see him today, but he's like, he looks
- 9:36Speaker 4: like he could be in Minecraft, and the one from
- 9:40Speaker 4: the nineties when the nineties looked like someone photoshop the dragon.
- 9:45Speaker 3: He looked like he belonged on a magic card. Honest
- 9:47Speaker 3: to god, he did not belong on this game show.
- 9:51Speaker 3: It just looked weird. And then the dragon Slayer is
- 9:53Speaker 3: just a knight too, held up a sword and then
- 9:56Speaker 3: get a ridiculous fanfare. It was it was. It was okay,
- 10:02Speaker 3: but it was not great. And there's a reason why
- 10:04Speaker 3: the show didn't last. Aside from Patrick Wayne's like completely
- 10:09Speaker 3: like you win, like you would say when someone went
- 10:13Speaker 3: like and was this long drawn out pronunciation of win
- 10:17Speaker 3: that made it sound like it had two soulables.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Oh man, that was a crazy show.
- 10:25Speaker 3: And the third one, the bonus round is is instead
- 10:28Speaker 3: of any of that, a player has to get a
- 10:30Speaker 3: tic tac dough in sixty seconds, picking boxes and answering questions.
- 10:36Speaker 3: But there's a dragon moving around the board trying to
- 10:39Speaker 3: block the contestant from getting in.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Wow.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's weird.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It sounds unnecessary.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird. I don't like it.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I wish they just on the same eighties show again.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I would have been happy with that totally. They could
- 10:55Speaker 3: use the same graphics. I mean, like the penciler has
- 10:57Speaker 3: come back, no reason why not.
- 11:00Speaker 5: It would be huge, especially now with the Minecraft movie
- 11:02Speaker 5: came out, and all these indie games coming out and stuff.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Everybody's into it. Why not do that? Love the pixelert Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 5: but tic Tac does like one of the first games
- 11:11Speaker 5: I could play because I'm like, well, I got half
- 11:13Speaker 5: the game down already.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you know how to do everybody knows how to
- 11:18Speaker 3: do tick tack toe. There's a reason why this game
- 11:21Speaker 3: is endured for the seventy years, but specifically, Jeff, as
- 11:27Speaker 3: the guest host for this episode, you may have already
- 11:30Speaker 3: answered this question, but you chose this game. This is
- 11:33Speaker 3: the one that you said you wanted to host. Is
- 11:36Speaker 3: there any particular reason why this game in particular.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Struck your fancy?
- 11:40Speaker 4: I don't know. I was listening to the episode where
- 11:43Speaker 4: you were musing about possibly doing game shows, and for
- 11:46Speaker 4: some reason, this was Well, there were two games that
- 11:49Speaker 4: Pop n ittim I had immediately, uh, and the other
- 11:52Speaker 4: one was Press Your Luck. But that was a faite
- 11:59Speaker 4: that was a favorite game and it has some great
- 12:02Speaker 4: history behind it with I mean, like there was a
- 12:05Speaker 4: dude that memorized the game board. Well, I don't want
- 12:07Speaker 4: to give spoilers if you're gonna be playing this later.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Great game, but a little less my speed. I want
- 12:13Speaker 4: to hit you guys with questions that take us all
- 12:17Speaker 4: in very stupid directions today. So trivia Trivia was the
- 12:22Speaker 4: way to go for me. And Wink Martindale. What a
- 12:25Speaker 4: name I've always I'll never forget his name. I'll be eighty,
- 12:29Speaker 4: i won't recognize my own children anymore, and I'll be like,
- 12:31Speaker 4: but Wink Martin Dale was the greatest. It was something
- 12:36Speaker 4: I watched when I was a kid in the eighties.
- 12:38Speaker 4: I think I'm older than you guys, right, so I
- 12:40Speaker 4: might have been watching them in real time for a
- 12:42Speaker 4: while there. I'm an old man.
- 12:46Speaker 3: But fun fact, Wink's real first name is Winston. It
- 12:52Speaker 3: is his nickname is actually from his first name.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Which is when that's still a pretty good name.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Came by Wink. Honestly, it wasn't just because he had
- 12:59Speaker 2: a you know, very in fact that he.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Didn't wink very often as far as I can remember,
- 13:06Speaker 5: because I'm like, i't remember him doing that like the
- 13:08Speaker 5: end of every episode, have a good night.
- 13:10Speaker 3: No, he didn't have a thing for and this is weird,
- 13:13Speaker 3: but no other game show host did it.
- 13:15Speaker 2: He had a thing for weird hats, like.
- 13:17Speaker 4: At the end of the episode he'd put on a
- 13:19Speaker 4: bizarre hat someone had found it, give it, just put
- 13:21Speaker 4: it on, and just like, what do you think, folks?
- 13:23Speaker 2: So it looks silly? You know, well the.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Eighties Wink was eighties entertaining.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Wink Wink loved a good pun. He would he would,
- 13:40Speaker 2: he would tell these terrible puns in the audience had grown.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Well, I'll make you grown today.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I promise looking forward to that.
- 13:53Speaker 3: So, uh, the game structure we have currently for this,
- 13:56Speaker 3: because games of Tic Tac Dough go pretty quick.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Usually we're doing a.
- 14:03Speaker 3: We're doing a kind of a double game thing. So Stevie,
- 14:05Speaker 3: you're gonna get a chance to practice.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Oh sweet good.
- 14:09Speaker 3: But if the practice game ends in a tie, then
- 14:12Speaker 3: we'll move on to the second game anyway, and the
- 14:14Speaker 3: second game will decide it. Oh okay, if one of
- 14:17Speaker 3: us wins the practice game, it doesn't mean anything.
- 14:19Speaker 2: But no, it doesn't.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Mean then we'll play the second game for real. If
- 14:26Speaker 3: that game.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Ends in a tie, then I will double the.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Standard amount you would have gotten if you'd lost. Okay,
- 14:34Speaker 3: so instead of five dollars for your chosen charity, you'll
- 14:37Speaker 3: get ten.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Nice so you'll get a little bonus if we tie,
- 14:40Speaker 2: but you get fifty dollars if you win. Okay, you
- 14:43Speaker 2: just got to beat me at Tictac, though.
- 14:45Speaker 5: What do you think I think I have a chance.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I think you do too, because I have no idea
- 14:51Speaker 2: what Jeff.
- 14:52Speaker 3: To be absolutely clear, Jeff was in charge of all questions.
- 14:55Speaker 3: He did not tell me anything beforehand. I have no
- 14:58Speaker 3: advanced knowledge of any of the questions or the categories
- 15:00Speaker 3: we're going to play. I have literally know and I
- 15:03Speaker 3: wanted to ask you this, Jeff, before we got started.
- 15:06Speaker 2: The TICNAK though, the eighties.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Version and I think the nineties version as well, did
- 15:10Speaker 3: some special categories in red that were different from the standard.
- 15:15Speaker 4: They worked a little differently. Most of them allowed both
- 15:18Speaker 4: players to take part. Yeah, there were some weird ones.
- 15:21Speaker 4: There was ones showdown, There was a uh it's a dilemma.
- 15:26Speaker 3: There was the secret category one which didn't tell you
- 15:29Speaker 3: the category of the question, but if you got it right,
- 15:31Speaker 3: the pot doubled.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And uh and that was that.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Was a secret category that actually led to Tom McKee's
- 15:39Speaker 3: biggest single day win. Wow Like the pot got up
- 15:43Speaker 3: to thirty six thousand dollars in nineteen eighties one nineteen
- 15:49Speaker 3: eighties in nineteen eighties money. It was thirty six thousand
- 15:52Speaker 3: dollars and he won it, and it was it was
- 15:54Speaker 3: a wild thing. But anyway, Uh, well, I will say
- 15:58Speaker 3: there like four times in a row, like they just
- 16:00Speaker 3: kept tying, and again the same guy stayed on the
- 16:03Speaker 3: show for like four episodes.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Oh okay, Yeah, First of all, it is a relief.
- 16:10Speaker 4: I'm glad you said about what happens if we tie,
- 16:13Speaker 4: because we didn't really talk about that before, and I
- 16:15Speaker 4: did not prepare a third game.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 3: No, So at the end of the second game, we
- 16:21Speaker 3: will either have we will have a definitive result one
- 16:23Speaker 3: way or another, either one of us wins or we
- 16:25Speaker 3: tie and Stevie gets double the standard low amount.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Yeah sounds good. Uh, And then there is one red category.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Game shows on podcasts can get a little complicated. We
- 16:35Speaker 4: don't have buzzers, so there's just one. It's going to
- 16:38Speaker 4: be a jump in. Whoever answers first gets the box.
- 16:41Speaker 4: But you'll see when the time comes. Oh boy, oh boy, Stevie, Stevie, Stevie.
- 16:46Speaker 4: On a scale of one to ten, how many weeds
- 16:49Speaker 4: have you smoked this morning?
- 16:51Speaker 2: One?
- 16:52Speaker 5: Okay, but I also had half a sucker, so and
- 16:56Speaker 5: it's already kicked it exactly.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Feel that could be a problems problem.
- 17:01Speaker 2: But Steevie's a clever boy. I'm sure he'll do very well.
- 17:07Speaker 2: He's a lot smarter than he pretends to be. Let's
- 17:09Speaker 2: just put it that way again.
- 17:12Speaker 4: I would never never say he's not smart. I'm just
- 17:15Speaker 4: a little bit worried about when speed is of the essence.
- 17:19Speaker 2: That might be an issue. We'll see.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But he's also a little bit like an energizer bunny,
- 17:25Speaker 3: and I'm the slower, slothlike dude.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'll get to it, but we'll see. All right, Well,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I think that pretty much covers the history of our
- 17:39Speaker 2: show and our feelings about it. When we come back,
- 17:44Speaker 2: we're going to actually play our first practice game of
- 17:46Speaker 2: ticktac dough and we'll see how things go. I'm so excited.
- 17:51Speaker 2: But we'll be right back right after this, all.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Right, I'm just thinking, I'm like tic tac Oh, that's
- 18:06Speaker 5: Hollywood Squares. Don't say the wrong thing.
- 18:10Speaker 3: It basically, I mean, except Hollywood Squares is. The only
- 18:13Speaker 3: difference is they don't ask you the question. Somebody else
- 18:17Speaker 3: say whether you believe it or not, it's the same.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Game, it's the same game.
- 18:21Speaker 5: It's gonna be awesome. I'm excited for.
- 18:23Speaker 4: This that Hollywood Squares would be super fun, but you
- 18:26Speaker 4: need a lot of guests lined up. I think you
- 18:28Speaker 4: should do it, definitely.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Because already someone has already asked to do match game,
- 18:32Speaker 3: and I'm like, I can. We can absolutely do that,
- 18:35Speaker 3: but we need a lot of people, and Zoom is
- 18:37Speaker 3: pretty much the only way that's gonna work.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Odd's Game Show. We do Hollywood Squares odd pods. You
- 18:43Speaker 5: get at least one to three people per show present,
- 18:46Speaker 5: and you can have people come on and play for charity. Hell,
- 18:48Speaker 5: that would be fucking awesome. There's enough of us to
- 18:50Speaker 5: do that.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it would just be a big Zoom meeting.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but we'd all have to We have to wrangle
- 18:57Speaker 3: all of us in one place at one time, and
- 18:59Speaker 3: as as as this episode has proven, that is not
- 19:03Speaker 3: always easy.
- 19:05Speaker 5: All right, guys, next December, not this one. Next December.
- 19:07Speaker 5: We're all getting together.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah right, let's let's let's plan a year out in advance.
- 19:13Speaker 2: It seems to work for us, it does.
- 19:15Speaker 5: So you do things, man, You play a year out
- 19:17Speaker 5: of fans and nothing can get inflicted. Oh my god,
- 19:23Speaker 5: all right, I'm good.
- 19:26Speaker 4: I'm going to Should I start sharing my screen now?
- 19:29Speaker 4: Are we gonna hop right into it?
- 19:31Speaker 5: Yeah? Actually sure?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Actually no, I mean well, part of me is like
- 19:36Speaker 2: we should test and make sure we can hear the
- 19:38Speaker 2: game and stuff like that, and part of me is
- 19:40Speaker 2: like we should capture our live reaction to it, oh for.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Sure, recording anyway.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess I guess we could save our live
- 19:49Speaker 2: reaction to it for Patreon.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, it doesn't work.
- 19:54Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, let's let's share.
- 19:56Speaker 4: It now then, well, I mean sharing the screen. I'm
- 19:59Speaker 4: just gonna share my second monitor, which currently has the
- 20:02Speaker 4: clapboard that I never bothered to edit, but you know,
- 20:08Speaker 4: it is what it is.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they really do look great. The guy who does
- 20:15Speaker 3: these has a metric ton of them on Etsy and
- 20:17Speaker 3: I just keep buying them.
- 20:18Speaker 5: Oh my god, that is awesome.
- 20:20Speaker 4: No, he did pretty great work.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Everybody. If you're gonna buy a freaking retro game program,
- 20:27Speaker 5: buy it from Travis R. Griffin on Etsy Etsy.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Cool. He's under Game Show Studio.
- 20:34Speaker 4: I was wondering where you got this from. That is
- 20:36Speaker 4: very cool.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he's he does incredible work. I've done several
- 20:41Speaker 3: of these for the gate Leapers. On their Bonus Round episode,
- 20:45Speaker 3: which this is kind of cribbed from. Yeah, because I'm
- 20:49Speaker 3: I'm nothing if not great at stealing British ideas.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Kind of American? Are you.
- 20:57Speaker 2: An American? American? That's all we do is steal British ideas.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure we should. We should set up an
- 21:02Speaker 4: odd pod sitcom that's based off a great British sitcom.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I mean, only shit, Holy shit, let's.
- 21:11Speaker 4: FU TV about the house. It'll be great.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Oh man, I'm.
- 21:21Speaker 4: I don't remember if I hit the show open button,
- 21:24Speaker 4: if it starts playing the theme music, then so I
- 21:26Speaker 4: think I just need to hold here, even though it
- 21:28Speaker 4: says June twelfth, twenty twenty three. I don't know. I
- 21:30Speaker 4: didn't edit that file, but.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I think if you hit show open it just goes
- 21:34Speaker 3: to the show open screen, and I think you can
- 21:36Speaker 3: then hit the button.
- 21:37Speaker 2: If we're wrong, we'll find.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Out you're right, You're right, We're good.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, that's so awesome.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Holy crap. Yeah, yeah, like he did a good job.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Yeah. A lot of African these were built in Adobe Flash, which.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Like fucking running on this computer.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Well, he built like self contained executables. They don't there,
- 22:02Speaker 4: they're not a threat to.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Your system at all. Yeah, view full screen.
- 22:09Speaker 4: That's better because now you can't see tied floating meeting controls.
- 22:18Speaker 4: There we go, so my screen should be pretty clear
- 22:20Speaker 4: as far as what's appearing on the zoom.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I just saw the windows bar, but only. But
- 22:28Speaker 2: otherwise we're good.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Cool.
- 22:32Speaker 2: This is amazing, right.
- 22:35Speaker 5: You know what's cool about doing this with zoom. It'll
- 22:37Speaker 5: make the attachment its own freaking video file.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Oh perfect, so you can arrange it however you want.
- 22:43Speaker 2: That's I mean, even if it plays like this.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Do you want me to introduce the contestants?
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah, have have fun with it. Whatever you want to do,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I will.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I will basically bring us back from break and then
- 22:58Speaker 3: I'll say it's time to play two f Jeff take
- 23:01Speaker 3: it away, and then just go ahead and do whatever
- 23:03Speaker 3: you want to do.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Man, this is your show a little scary, Yes, all right,
- 23:09Speaker 2: let's do it.
- 23:20Speaker 5: Hey, which episode is it?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Well, you'll find out when we watch it.
- 23:25Speaker 2: But pay attention. You better pay attention because Aaron makes
- 23:28Speaker 2: a really good quiz.
- 23:29Speaker 5: Okay, I'll bring my notebook.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Hey you you over there, Yeah, come listen too.
- 23:35Speaker 6: You can join us on the LUNI Abby will bring
- 23:38Speaker 6: the cheesecake. Yeah, get in a carm one more out cheesecake.

- 23:48Speaker 5: you are a fan of the Green head on over
- 23:50Speaker 5: to Peace Love and Bud at three twenty self Transit

- 24:15Speaker 3: is ready to play. And two F Jeff take it.

- 24:25Speaker 2: Now you're having some audio difficulties.
- 24:28Speaker 4: The audio is not playing, but I'll just sing it's fine.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Welcome to TIC Tech Joe, everybody. I'm Wenk Martindale, and
- 24:41Speaker 4: welcome back. Not exactly our returning champion, but he sure
- 24:44Speaker 4: is close. This man loves to sound smart because he
- 24:49Speaker 4: always has the answers to the questions. But today we're
- 24:52Speaker 4: going to see how smart he really is. Welcome to
- 24:56Speaker 4: the show, everybody. Aaron Randolph, Hello, Hello, thank you, thank you,
- 25:02Speaker 4: thank you.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Excited to be.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Here and his challenger today trying to win Aaron Randolph's money.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Some people wonder about him because because you know, he's
- 25:20Speaker 4: famously often in an altered state, but we know the
- 25:24Speaker 4: deep down inside he's got the brains to pull this off. Please,
- 25:28Speaker 4: welcome to the show, Stevie.
- 25:31Speaker 5: Everybody, How is everybody doing this? Wonderful Monday morning? May
- 25:36Speaker 5: It's not Monday, No, today is Thursday, August twenty eighth.
- 25:41Speaker 4: That is very important for this game, all right, and
- 25:45Speaker 4: you'll understand why in just a minute. But first, let's
- 25:49Speaker 4: make that logo fly, and let's pretend there's music playing,
- 25:53Speaker 4: and here we go. All right, right, all right, gentlemen
- 26:00Speaker 4: and gentlemen, Yes, sir, I'm about to open up this
- 26:03Speaker 4: game board, I hope. Let's take a look at today's topics.
- 26:10Speaker 4: We have.
- 26:15Speaker 5: I know what category?
- 26:16Speaker 4: What's wrong? What's wrong?
- 26:21Speaker 2: I love these so much.
- 26:25Speaker 4: We have one hit Wonders, Best Reality s n E
- 26:31Speaker 4: S the MCU that's the Marvel Cinematic Universe for you
- 26:36Speaker 4: non nerds. Conspiracy Theories, Horrors of a I, Sports or
- 26:42Speaker 4: whatever poop that's for you, Aaron with an E. And
- 26:48Speaker 4: and this day in history attribute to the many members
- 26:52Speaker 4: of the GARMI who I believe listened to this show.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Very fantastic, These categories amazing.
- 27:00Speaker 5: This is how you do this.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Host the show, all right, So if we're sticking to
- 27:09Speaker 3: the rules of this show, I believe X goes first.
- 27:13Speaker 4: I believe X does go first and appears that that
- 27:16Speaker 4: is you, Aaron Book Daddy Randolph. So we're gonna shove
- 27:19Speaker 4: these categories up and we're going to see what happens next.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Here we go, Man, I know I should probably have
- 27:30Speaker 4: my questions out. Sorry, those are on my phone.
- 27:34Speaker 3: All right, this might be a mistake, but I'm gonna
- 27:37Speaker 3: go for conspiracy theories in the center.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Box, going for the center square conspiracy theories. Let me
- 27:44Speaker 4: select that here. Look how that blinks? Okay, so delicious?
- 27:49Speaker 4: All right, for the center square. Here we go. Inbreeding
- 27:58Speaker 4: can cause a wide number of Janet defects to be
- 28:01Speaker 4: passed along a bloodline more easily than it should be.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Because the bloodline of King Charles of England has historically
- 28:07Speaker 4: been rife with an affliction called porphyria, it is believed
- 28:11Speaker 4: in some circles that Charles is hiding what secret about himself?
- 28:14Speaker 4: And for the center square, what other similarly accused historical
- 28:20Speaker 4: figure is Charles distantly related.
- 28:22Speaker 6: To B B B B All right?
- 28:35Speaker 4: What affliction?
- 28:36Speaker 7: Is?
- 28:36Speaker 4: It rumored that King Charles of England.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Has I don't know he's his own brother.
- 28:48Speaker 4: I'm sorry. Porphyria is a genetically related iron deficiency that
- 28:53Speaker 4: also makes you sensitive to the sunlight. It is rumored
- 28:56Speaker 4: that King Charles of England is a vampire and he
- 29:02Speaker 4: is distantly related to lad the Impaler.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's if I'd known the vampire bit, I would
- 29:08Speaker 2: have guessed blamp.
- 29:11Speaker 4: All right, circle does not get X does not get
- 29:14Speaker 4: the square. We're going to shuffle it up again, and Stevie,
- 29:16Speaker 4: that's going to go to you bestiality bestiality. Okay. If
- 29:30Speaker 4: you have listened to suggested their articles a podcast, uh,
- 29:34Speaker 4: you will know that we have had some run ins
- 29:36Speaker 4: thanks to the algorithm with the world of erotica based
- 29:40Speaker 4: around humans having interactions with non human things, most notably
- 29:49Speaker 4: dinosaurs and the works of the Great Lolafest. Now what
- 29:56Speaker 4: I'm going to read you now are some made up
- 30:00Speaker 4: book titles. I made these book titles up myself, but
- 30:03Speaker 4: these would be romance or erotica novels centered around human
- 30:07Speaker 4: interactions with non humans. I need you to figure out
- 30:11Speaker 4: what mythical creature is the star of this book. Okay, Okay,
- 30:17Speaker 4: your question, Stevie is three heads in my underworld servers
- 30:29Speaker 4: gets the square. Damn congratulations, Stevie. All right.
- 30:39Speaker 2: For you.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Everybody, Aaron Randolph. That brings the board back to you.
- 30:45Speaker 4: We'll shuffle it up.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna go for s n E S in
- 30:50Speaker 2: the upper right corner.
- 30:52Speaker 4: S N E S in the upright hand corner. Excellent, sir,
- 31:00Speaker 4: definitely not well. Where do you want your poop?
- 31:03Speaker 2: Right out of my way?
- 31:07Speaker 4: All right, Aaron Randolph?
- 31:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:10Speaker 4: When Mortal Kombat took the world by storm in nineteen
- 31:14Speaker 4: ninety two, everyone wanted to get in on the profits,
- 31:17Speaker 4: but Nintendo was afraid all the blood would harm their
- 31:19Speaker 4: family friendly brand. What solution did the s NES Mortal
- 31:23Speaker 4: Kombat port provide to get rid of the game's copious
- 31:26Speaker 4: amounts of blood.
- 31:29Speaker 2: They turned it white and called it sweat.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I will accept that answer. It was gray, but dang
- 31:35Speaker 4: close enough. Good job, Sir X gets the square.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Boo. Okay, now we're off and running.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Now we have a game, all right, all right, Stevie.
- 31:48Speaker 4: First question, noo, okay, Stevie, what would you like?
- 31:55Speaker 5: I just love, I don't like. I love your sound effects.
- 32:01Speaker 2: It's so great.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I guess the MCU.
- 32:08Speaker 4: If you get this, you'll be in a very good position.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Okay the MCU oh, I gotta click the square here.
- 32:17Speaker 4: There we go. After killing Thanos, a depressed Thor stops
- 32:22Speaker 4: exercising and starts playing video games. What popular video game
- 32:27Speaker 4: do we see him addicted to early in Avengers Endgame?
- 32:31Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 32:32Speaker 5: This, so I'm gonna say call of Duty.
- 32:39Speaker 4: So close it was a shooter, but it was Fortnite.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I would have said.
- 32:45Speaker 5: I had no idea.
- 32:48Speaker 4: All right, let's shuffle it up for Aaron Randolph. You
- 32:50Speaker 4: have control of the board.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Don't be good to him. Don't be good to him. Well,
- 32:58Speaker 5: go for sports. You know you want to.
- 32:59Speaker 2: I'm going against my better judgment, best reality in the
- 33:05Speaker 2: upper left corner.
- 33:08Speaker 4: All right, once again, I'm going to read you the
- 33:10Speaker 4: title of a book that does not yet exist, but
- 33:13Speaker 4: I hope someone's listening. Aaron, you're an author. You're welcome
- 33:17Speaker 4: to any of these ideas.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I'll think about it, all right.
- 33:22Speaker 4: What mythical creature is the star of this book?
- 33:27Speaker 8: The riddle of my soulmate, the riddle of my soulmate.
- 33:39Speaker 8: I'll go with the Sphinx.
- 33:42Speaker 4: The Sphinx, correct, Aaron Randolph X gets the square.
- 33:47Speaker 5: Not expecting you to get that ex to.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Get that right. Who's looking forward to poop showing up
- 33:55Speaker 4: in the upper Oh? Fuck you.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Like.
- 34:05Speaker 5: The one thing I can't do is anything.
- 34:07Speaker 2: From that history.
- 34:08Speaker 4: What category would you like, sir?
- 34:12Speaker 5: I'm afraid poop's gonna go there after my turn. I
- 34:16Speaker 5: gotta go this day in history just for the block.
- 34:18Speaker 4: I have to, all right, this day in history, for
- 34:21Speaker 4: the block. Here we go. It's a blink. It's blinking, okay, Stevie.
- 34:29Speaker 4: On this day in nineteen ninety, that's August twenty eighth,
- 34:33Speaker 4: nineteen ninety, the country of Iraq declared that it was
- 34:36Speaker 4: the next thing another country in the Middle East, name
- 34:40Speaker 4: that country?
- 34:42Speaker 2: Nineties.
- 34:43Speaker 5: I can't remember.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Kuwait Kuwait is the correct answer. Steve gets the square there.
- 34:51Speaker 5: But I can't remember. I'm like, I wait for a
- 34:53Speaker 5: few days. I remember that.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I even pointed at you. You're gonna get You're gonna
- 34:58Speaker 2: get this, Steve.
- 35:00Speaker 4: You got a history question.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah, well done, John, well done, indeed, thank.
- 35:04Speaker 4: You, all right? Successful block. Aaron Randolph back to you.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Shit, yeah, exactly exactly.
- 35:16Speaker 4: I am gonna go for this day in history in
- 35:21Speaker 4: the lower right, avoiding the poop. Although this does still
- 35:26Speaker 4: set you up well for the tic tac toe purposes. Man,
- 35:30Speaker 4: I scrolled all the way to poop. Now I gotta
- 35:32Speaker 4: scroll back to this day industry. All right, here we
- 35:38Speaker 4: go this day in history on August twenty eighth in
- 35:43Speaker 4: eighteen ninety eight. Well, here we go. There's a little backstory. First,
- 35:47Speaker 4: Caleb Bradham invented a beverage that some consider to be
- 35:51Speaker 4: quite delicious, and he called it Brad's Drink. It still
- 35:56Speaker 4: remains to this day as a very popular carbonated option
- 35:58Speaker 4: in grocery stores and rest durants. On this day in
- 36:01Speaker 4: eighteen ninety eight, Caleb stepped away from his vanity and
- 36:04Speaker 4: renamed Brad's Drink. What is the new and current name?
- 36:16Speaker 2: I don't know it.
- 36:18Speaker 4: You know what's drinking to go with?
- 36:21Speaker 2: Pepsi?
- 36:24Speaker 4: Pepsi is the correct answer. It the square.
- 36:29Speaker 5: I was throwing like doctor Pepper. I was.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I was like, I was thinking doctor Pepper. I was like,
- 36:34Speaker 2: I know it's not coke, and I'm like, is.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It doctor Pepper? But I thought doctor Pepper was Later
- 36:40Speaker 3: I'm like, uh, I can't believe I got that.
- 36:43Speaker 2: That was great.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Can you imagine living through the cola Wars of the eighties,
- 36:47Speaker 4: if it was Coca Cola versus Brad's drink, and if
- 36:54Speaker 4: you were born with the name Brad, you have to
- 36:56Speaker 4: drink it whether you like it or not. Right, Okay, Stevie,
- 36:59Speaker 4: this does not put you an enviable position. But let's
- 37:01Speaker 4: see what comes up on the board.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Well, your sound effects are almost better than the real thing.
- 37:11Speaker 2: You know.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I'm gonna do if he misses one of these at
- 37:13Speaker 5: some point, I'm just gonna copy it from earlier in
- 37:14Speaker 5: the episode. I think I have to do the same
- 37:20Speaker 5: thing as I did last time, is get in between
- 37:22Speaker 5: Aaron's x's and go for poop poop.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Oh man, all right, first question of poop. Here we
- 37:32Speaker 4: go for the block A block for a block? All right?
- 37:37Speaker 4: Kope uwak is a product made by feeding a specific
- 37:41Speaker 4: substance to Asian palm civets. The cibots then poop out
- 37:46Speaker 4: a partially digestive version of that substance, which is then
- 37:49Speaker 4: processed for human consumption. What is the final resulting product.
- 37:54Speaker 5: I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I want to
- 37:56Speaker 5: say it's coffee beans.
- 37:59Speaker 4: The correct answer is coffee circle gets the square and
- 38:03Speaker 4: a but not the block. Aaron Randolph. I don't know
- 38:08Speaker 4: what's about to happen, but this is gonna be great.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Let's see what comes up, son of a bitch.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Okay, what will you do? What are the odds that
- 38:21Speaker 2: Stevie will get the center square wrong? Yeah, it's either way.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I'm thinking I could either set myself up big time,
- 38:30Speaker 3: give me options, or I could try for the center square.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Even though this category did not do me well last time,
- 38:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna try conspiracy theories again in the center box.
- 38:40Speaker 2: For the win.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Okay, for the win. Ever experienced deja vu? Some people
- 38:48Speaker 4: believe that weird coincidence in their lives are actually signs
- 38:51Speaker 4: we're living in a situation very similar to what nineties
- 38:54Speaker 4: science fiction movie dot dot dot? And for the center square?
- 38:58Speaker 4: What concept this movie has been co opted by conspiracy
- 39:02Speaker 4: theorists to mean they've finally come to see the truth?
- 39:07Speaker 6: B b Bob Bob?
- 39:16Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph? What nineties science fiction movie do people sometimes
- 39:21Speaker 4: think we're living in the matrix? Correct? And for the
- 39:25Speaker 4: center square? What concept from the movie has come to
- 39:31Speaker 4: mean that conspiracy theorists finally see what the truth really is?
- 39:35Speaker 4: The red pill, taking the red pill? That is correct?
- 39:39Speaker 4: Aaron oh shoot, no, no, no, wait, there we go.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph, you have won with nineteen hundred not real dollars.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Congratulations button Stevie.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Oh yeah, hold on, I should do them.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be playing in the program itself, but
- 40:04Speaker 2: obviously the sound is not working. But thank you very much.
- 40:07Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Fortunately for Stevie, that was just a practice game.
- 40:11Speaker 5: I'm not gonna do any better on the real one.
- 40:13Speaker 2: That was I thought you did freaking amazing, dude.
- 40:16Speaker 5: On this one, I'm gonna get screwed on the one. Seven.
- 40:20Speaker 5: It's a letter, not a number, jack ass.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Hey you know it's all new categories in the second round. Now,
- 40:26Speaker 4: do you want to try the bonus round just for giggles, Aaron.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll play it. I want to get a chance
- 40:30Speaker 2: to play it, and if Stevie wins the next one,
- 40:32Speaker 2: whether or not Stevie wins the next one, he should
- 40:34Speaker 2: play the next one.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I didn't actually test this before, but let's let's see
- 40:37Speaker 4: what happens. Bonus round. Okay, bonus round. Do you need
- 40:43Speaker 4: to beat the dragon by picking numbers one through nine?
- 40:47Speaker 4: And uh you could get tick or tack to win
- 40:50Speaker 4: or add up to what you say a thousand points.
- 40:53Speaker 4: But if you find the dragon, you're dead. You're dead.
- 40:56Speaker 4: It's all over and we'll miss you.
- 41:00Speaker 6: Go.
- 41:00Speaker 4: I'm shuffling the boxes. There's the dragon flying around. Okay,
- 41:04Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph, pick your first box. I'm going to start
- 41:09Speaker 4: dead center with square five. Please all right, square five
- 41:14Speaker 4: revealing you found All right, good start. If you find
- 41:21Speaker 4: tax sir, you defeat the dragon and you win.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I'm going to try square two. Please hope they're right
- 41:29Speaker 2: on top of each other.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Our tick and tack right next to each other. Let's
- 41:33Speaker 4: see what's behind square two.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Go dragon.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Oh I'm sorry, Aaron Randolph, you are dead.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah that figures. That figures where was everything? Else Where
- 41:51Speaker 2: was the.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Tack hiding reveal all tack was down?
- 41:57Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I said, you can get one thousand dollars
- 42:01Speaker 3: pretty quickly.
- 42:03Speaker 2: It's like three boxes will do it. But oh well,
- 42:06Speaker 2: didn't happen for me. Maybe it'll happen for you. We
- 42:11Speaker 2: can even make a game out of it, right, Well,
- 42:14Speaker 2: if you don't win and you play to beat the dragon,
- 42:17Speaker 2: and you win beat the Dragon, i'll double your your
- 42:21Speaker 2: your token winnings awesome. So if you tie, it'll be
- 42:23Speaker 2: doubled and if you win, beat the Dragon will be
- 42:25Speaker 2: doubled again to twenty dollars. Oh shit, okay, so let's
- 42:29Speaker 2: see what happens. Man, Pretty well, I think we could
- 42:31Speaker 2: tie again.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, let's let's see.
- 42:32Speaker 4: That'd be cool.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Let's find out. Yeah, all right, so you'll probably have
- 42:35Speaker 2: to close the main game again so you can load
- 42:38Speaker 2: game two.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I think let's see, show, open, show.
- 42:44Speaker 2: It might be possible to go all the way back
- 42:45Speaker 2: to the very beginning slot and.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Just nope, no, that's nope, that's not yet. No, you're right,
- 42:50Speaker 4: I got to close everything down. But you probably need
- 42:52Speaker 4: a commercial break anyway, right.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Uh yeah, we'll take a short break because that was
- 42:55Speaker 2: an exciting game.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Change, my panta, it was very intense.
- 43:02Speaker 2: We're gonna take a short break when we come back.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Stevee's gonna play game two, and this time it's going
- 43:06Speaker 4: to be for the money. Won't play that game, Randolph's
- 43:11Speaker 4: It was awful.
- 43:13Speaker 2: That came right after this. Hey, Jeff, what are we doing?
- 43:24Speaker 4: Why are you whispering?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Because all of our devices are constantly listening to us.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Unless we take massive efforts to protect our online privacy,
- 43:32Speaker 2: all the details of our lives will be in the
- 43:33Speaker 2: hands of mega corporations.
- 43:35Speaker 4: Okay, sure, but this is the promo for our podcast.
- 43:38Speaker 4: We need people to be able to hear us this time.
- 43:41Speaker 4: Why do we need a promo? Oh funny you should ask.
- 43:44Speaker 4: We're now members of the Odd Pods media network.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Are they one of those global conglomerates.
- 43:48Speaker 4: No, they're just a really awesome podcast network full of
- 43:51Speaker 4: great shows like ours.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Well, is there anything specific we need to say?
- 43:55Speaker 4: We should probably tell them what our podcast is about.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Oh, it's about how the algorithm shapes our life and
- 44:00Speaker 3: how tech companies profit off our personal information.
- 44:02Speaker 4: We dabble in tech conspiracy theories and talk about how
- 44:05Speaker 4: billionaires are all buttholes. I don't think we should say
- 44:08Speaker 4: buttholes in the.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Promo, but we already did twice.
- 44:13Speaker 4: Join us every other Monday for new episodes of suggested
- 44:16Speaker 4: articles the podcast.
- 44:28Speaker 2: And we're back.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Game one ended in a victory for me, but fortunately
- 44:31Speaker 4: for Stevie, that was just.
- 44:32Speaker 2: A practice game. This one is for all the marbles.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Yeah two f Jeff take it away.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Oh this is it, Stevie. This is your big moment.
- 44:41Speaker 4: All right, Stevie. If you win fifty whole American dollars,
- 44:49Speaker 4: what's going to happen to that money.
- 44:51Speaker 5: I think what I'm gonna do is go to the casino.
- 44:57Speaker 5: I will be donating the money to a local an organization.
- 45:01Speaker 5: It's called Western New York Heros. They are veterans in
- 45:05Speaker 5: multiple ways, whether it's through their VA claims, help finding housing, jobs, food,
- 45:10Speaker 5: even help with getting yourself a service dog. A trained
- 45:13Speaker 5: service dog put you through a program, doesn't cost you
- 45:15Speaker 5: a thing like These guys help all veterans in this area.
- 45:18Speaker 2: So it's an amazing cho They helped me out a
- 45:21Speaker 2: lot of choice, so I always try that.
- 45:23Speaker 4: It's amazing. Well, now, so Aaron Randolph, if Stevie doesn't
- 45:27Speaker 4: win fifty whole American dollars, what will you do with
- 45:30Speaker 4: that money?
- 45:32Speaker 2: Probably rub it on myself, particularly in my groin region.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Well, we've officially established the villain and hero of this episode,
- 45:39Speaker 4: so I think that's great. We know who everyone's rooting
- 45:43Speaker 4: for now.
- 45:43Speaker 3: It was kidding, So to be clear, if I win,
- 45:47Speaker 3: Stevie will get the Western New York Heroes. We'll get
- 45:50Speaker 3: a token five dollars donation, but I'm giving ctev a
- 45:53Speaker 3: couple of chances to make more than that if he
- 45:55Speaker 3: doesn't win. If we tie, I'll double it to ten.
- 45:57Speaker 3: And after the game, no matter who wins, Stevie, he's
- 46:00Speaker 3: going to play Beat the Dragon to try and double
- 46:02Speaker 3: his his token winnings. If he does win, he's just
- 46:05Speaker 3: gonna play for fun. I'm not doubling the fifty.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I can't afford that, but if he doesn't win, he'll
- 46:12Speaker 2: have chances to make more. So that's the game plan.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Hell yeah, all right, here we go. Let's start up
- 46:19Speaker 4: the game. Now. We had a selection of categories that
- 46:23Speaker 4: were obviously just perfection in the last game, but this
- 46:27Speaker 4: time around we're going to change up the categori's bit
- 46:30Speaker 4: and let's take a look, shall we.
- 46:33Speaker 6: We have.
- 46:37Speaker 5: The first category, we have.
- 46:42Speaker 4: Two hit wonders, Hostiality, womp Wom, cults, survival games, the
- 46:52Speaker 4: DC cum tech conspiracy theories, Hello O death for you,
- 47:01Speaker 4: Ralph Reporters, uh faccoom, and then finally space.
- 47:12Speaker 2: This is incredible? Is incredible?
- 47:16Speaker 4: Now, Aaron as the champion, you're going to be able
- 47:19Speaker 4: to pick first, of course. But what we're gonna do
- 47:21Speaker 4: right now is.
- 47:22Speaker 2: This board means it did last time. This is the.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Darker version of the original game board. As you can
- 47:29Speaker 4: turn all right, here we go.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Let's do it. Oh shit, okay, having having learned a
- 47:43Speaker 2: little bit from last time. Oh man, I'm gonna go. No,
- 47:52Speaker 2: I'm not gonna learn anything. I'm gonna go with cults
- 47:53Speaker 2: in the center box. I'm gonna I'm not I've not
- 47:56Speaker 2: learned to think.
- 47:57Speaker 4: All right, cults in the center square. Here we go. Now,
- 48:04Speaker 4: this is a long question. Don't answer just yet. You'll
- 48:06Speaker 4: get time to think. Yep. Originating in South Korea. Wait,
- 48:12Speaker 4: oh yeah, sorry. Originating in South Korea, the Unification Church
- 48:17Speaker 4: was founded by Sung Mung Moon, who considered himself to
- 48:20Speaker 4: be the second coming of Christ. The church gained notoriety
- 48:23Speaker 4: for its mass wedding ceremonies, where hundreds of couples would
- 48:26Speaker 4: be married simultaneously and the followers were given this mocking
- 48:31Speaker 4: nickname by non believers, and for the center Square. Sung
- 48:36Speaker 4: Jong Moon made a lot of money as the founder
- 48:38Speaker 4: and leader of his cult, and, as so many tyrants
- 48:40Speaker 4: often do, decided to enhance his power by controlling the media.
- 48:44Speaker 4: What American newspaper did Moon start and own until his
- 48:48Speaker 4: death in twenty twelve.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Bah bah bah bah bah boah.
- 49:02Speaker 4: All right, Aaron Randolph for the Center square. First of all,
- 49:05Speaker 4: what mocking nickname is given to the followers of the
- 49:08Speaker 4: unifaication church Moonies? Moonies is correct? But for the center square,
- 49:16Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph, what American newspaper was founded and owned by
- 49:22Speaker 4: Sun Young Moon until his death in twenty twelve.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Now this I don't know, but I'm gonna take a stab.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Is it USA today?
- 49:34Speaker 4: I'm sorry? Aaron Randolph began to answer, but I couldn't
- 49:38Speaker 4: think of anything else the correct answer. And depending on
- 49:41Speaker 4: what side of the fence you sit on, And I
- 49:43Speaker 4: think we're all in the same boat. Here a newspaper
- 49:46Speaker 4: with some notoriety behind it, The Washington Times, the very
- 49:51Speaker 4: conservative Washington.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Get hell out of here. No, I would not have
- 49:56Speaker 2: known that I was a newspaper. It's crazy.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Well, I'm sorry you didn't give any center square.
- 50:02Speaker 2: All right, Well I take another loss in the center square.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Stevie, have you heard of Are you familiar with the Moonies?
- 50:09Speaker 4: Are you too young? Okay, I'm not.
- 50:11Speaker 5: I was always overseas throng that time.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Okay, I wasn't really getting news fair enough, fair enough, Okay,
- 50:18Speaker 4: here we go. We're shuffling out the board. Stevie Spice
- 50:26Speaker 4: in the center space. All right, here we go. This
- 50:37Speaker 4: is vaguely space related, okay. After gathering pictures and data
- 50:44Speaker 4: of the farthest planets in our Solar system, in twenty eighteen,
- 50:48Speaker 4: the Voyager two space probe officially entered interstellar space in
- 50:52Speaker 4: preparation to possibly encounter other life forms. The Voyager was
- 50:55Speaker 4: equipped with a Golden Record containing all manner of sounds
- 50:59Speaker 4: from the Earth, including speech in many languages and a
- 51:02Speaker 4: variety of music. One of the songs on this album
- 51:06Speaker 4: is early rock and roll mega hit Johnny be Good?
- 51:09Speaker 4: What singer performed Johnny be Good? And for the Center
- 51:13Speaker 4: Square Stevie. The Golden Record also contains sounds for many
- 51:17Speaker 4: Earth animals. One Mammal's sounds in particular, served as the
- 51:21Speaker 4: inspiration for the plot of Star Trek four. Name that mammal?
- 51:27Speaker 8: Blah blah blah.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Stevie, the interstellarly famous singer of Johnny B. Good.
- 51:45Speaker 5: I can't remember his name right now, so I'll go
- 51:50Speaker 5: with very something.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 51:56Speaker 4: I can't remember, but my zoom has just blacked out.
- 52:01Speaker 4: But I can still hear you. Can you still hear me?
- 52:03Speaker 5: Yes?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yes, we still see you?
- 52:06Speaker 4: Am I here, I'm here, Okay. You can still see me. Amazing.
- 52:10Speaker 4: I love technology. I will accept Barry because it is
- 52:13Speaker 4: his last name. Berry is correct, now, Steevie for the
- 52:17Speaker 4: center square. Then what mammal served as the star trek
- 52:23Speaker 4: for wales hump back Whales is correct? Stevie, guess where.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Kids wearing Barry? Something?
- 52:38Speaker 5: Very remember it was?
- 52:42Speaker 4: What game show doesn't.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I'd give it to him.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Game shows always take the last name.
- 52:46Speaker 2: No, it's fair, it's fair.
- 52:48Speaker 4: I'm willing to accept it. All right, already give me
- 52:52Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph. You are in control of the board now.
- 52:55Speaker 2: At least said don't have to sweat square. Yeah. Yeah,
- 52:58Speaker 2: I am going to go with two hit wonders, please
- 53:01Speaker 2: and lower right.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Two hit wonders. Okay, Aaron Randolph, I'm going to read
- 53:08Speaker 4: you the titles of two songs that were hits and
- 53:12Speaker 4: seemingly the only hits for this particular artist or band,
- 53:15Speaker 4: and you tell me who the artist is.
- 53:18Speaker 2: Okay, all right, here we go.
- 53:21Speaker 4: We'll start with wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina. Uh
- 53:38Speaker 4: is correct?
- 53:40Speaker 2: The square?
- 53:50Speaker 4: Good job, Aaron, good job, good job. We're really rooting
- 53:53Speaker 4: for you. I swear Stevie, I'm the villain. I remember Stevie,
- 53:58Speaker 4: We're going to shuffle this board up for you. Let's
- 53:59Speaker 4: see where you go next.
- 54:04Speaker 5: What happens if it's red uh categories?
- 54:08Speaker 4: The red question will involve both players. Either player can
- 54:13Speaker 4: get the square.
- 54:16Speaker 5: I don't remember the last time you played Second Edition,
- 54:18Speaker 5: but I remember the last time I did. I kind
- 54:24Speaker 5: of want it. Yeah, let's go.
- 54:29Speaker 4: All right Faco for the record, as an old man,
- 54:34Speaker 4: I kind of miss it. I've been playing D and
- 54:37Speaker 4: the fifth Edition and it's fine, but there was something
- 54:40Speaker 4: uniquely charming about Facco, and I'm sad it's gone.
- 54:43Speaker 5: The confusion. Why is it like?
- 54:47Speaker 4: For you, non nerds? This was a This was a
- 54:50Speaker 4: statistic on your D and D characters that would determine
- 54:54Speaker 4: how easy or hard it was for you to hit
- 54:56Speaker 4: a monster? Should we define? Does anyone remember what faco
- 55:01Speaker 4: stands for? Armor class zero? To hit armor class zero?
- 55:05Speaker 4: Your character has that number?
- 55:07Speaker 5: Nerds?
- 55:09Speaker 4: All right, here we go, you to Stevie. This would
- 55:12Speaker 4: be a good test of just how high you are
- 55:14Speaker 4: right now. Now. The first person to call out the
- 55:18Speaker 4: answer the correct answer gets the square. If you both
- 55:21Speaker 4: answer wrong, then we'll just buzz it out and we'll
- 55:23Speaker 4: move on with our lives. Okay, here we go. Gimblet
- 55:28Speaker 4: is a fourth level fighter with a with a base
- 55:32Speaker 4: faco of seventeen. He also has a strength of seventeen,
- 55:35Speaker 4: which provides him with a plus one bonus to hit.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Boris runs into an angry Orc. Oh sorry, Gimblet runs
- 55:41Speaker 4: into an angry orc with an armor class of six.
- 55:45Speaker 4: What does Gimlet need to roll on a D twenty
- 55:47Speaker 4: to hit that Orc?
- 55:49Speaker 2: Five? Six?
- 55:51Speaker 4: Dude, I'm sorry. The correct answer was ten ten with
- 56:00Speaker 4: echo of seventeen and arma class six. You start at eleven,
- 56:03Speaker 4: but his strength gives him a plus one bones to hit,
- 56:05Speaker 4: so we would only need to roll a ten on
- 56:06Speaker 4: a twenty sided die to hit Jesus.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Were Oh we just lost Jeff. Oh no, we need
- 56:16Speaker 2: him back, game, Jeff, we lost you? Where'd you go?
- 56:23Speaker 4: Okay, we're going to pretend like my computer didn't just crash,
- 56:26Speaker 4: and we're gonna move right on the board. Is yours?
- 56:30Speaker 3: Okay, the shuffle may not have been kind to me.
- 56:34Speaker 3: I'm gonna go somewhat reluctantly with bestiality want wah in
- 56:39Speaker 3: the lower left corner.
- 56:42Speaker 4: Okay, you have chosen bestiality. Womp wom Okay. The two
- 56:50Speaker 4: thousand and seven documentary Zoo told the story of Kenneth Pinion,
- 56:55Speaker 4: a man who died from injuries sustained during his long
- 56:59Speaker 4: desired actual encounter with an animal. What type of animal
- 57:03Speaker 4: was this? I thought this was a pretty famous story.
- 57:11Speaker 4: I don't know, not.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Famous enough for me. I don't know, don't care. I'm
- 57:18Speaker 2: just going to pick an animal of random.
- 57:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna say something fierce, because clearly he died, so
- 57:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna say a lion.
- 57:30Speaker 2: I am sorry.
- 57:31Speaker 4: That is incorrect. You want to know more?
- 57:33Speaker 2: Not really I do. For fairness, we should know the
- 57:36Speaker 2: correct answer.
- 57:39Speaker 4: The correct answer was a horse and gesu mister Pinion.
- 57:45Speaker 4: Mister Pinion also know and if you feel like googling
- 57:47Speaker 4: this later as mister Hands died from from a colon perforation.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Oh god, no, no, sir, No.
- 58:02Speaker 5: Like trying to do Superman and he just that's fucked up.
- 58:06Speaker 4: Guys. Oh, I brewed Aaron randolphs day. But you did
- 58:11Speaker 4: see the smite of the sad I did see.
- 58:14Speaker 2: I get it now, I get it. I get it.
- 58:18Speaker 2: They're all warning.
- 58:21Speaker 4: He's gonna be great when that category comes back up,
- 58:23Speaker 4: and it's the only one you can win with.
- 58:26Speaker 5: I'm saving for him.
- 58:29Speaker 4: See Stevie, we're going to shuffle this board for you.
- 58:34Speaker 5: Yeah, let's go with top middle tech company theories.
- 58:44Speaker 4: Technic theories belled conspiracy wrong, but tech conspiracy theory is.
- 58:50Speaker 4: Let me find that category here on my list. Okay,
- 58:55Speaker 4: here we go for the center square. No, not for
- 58:59Speaker 4: the centers. My bad. Those are the harder questions.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Oh thank god, Steve already took the center square. We
- 59:04Speaker 2: don't have to deal it.
- 59:05Speaker 4: Okay. Polybius is an arcade video game machine that affects
- 59:11Speaker 4: its players with amnesia, seizures, and hallucinations. Despite these reports,
- 59:17Speaker 4: no one has ever been able to find an actual
- 59:20Speaker 4: machine to prove that Polybius existed. That didn't stop it
- 59:24Speaker 4: from making its mark him pop culture, including a background
- 59:27Speaker 4: appearance in an arcade in an episode of What Venerable
- 59:32Speaker 4: Fox animated series.
- 59:35Speaker 5: I don't even know what this is. I'm just gonna
- 59:37Speaker 5: say Simpsons.
- 59:41Speaker 4: The Simpsons is correct. CV circle gets the square. Aaron,
- 59:46Speaker 4: you nodded right away. You've heard of Polybius.
- 59:48Speaker 6: I have.
- 59:49Speaker 3: I've watched documentaries on it. Actually, it's a fascinating it's
- 59:53Speaker 3: a fascinating story. There is a great YouTuber out there
- 59:58Speaker 3: whose name I cannot remember.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: It's gonna bother me.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: But he did like a full, like hour long expose
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: and investigation into Pollivius, like the stories and where he
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: originated and you know, everything, and he did.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Interviews and ship. It's really it's really interesting. But watch that.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It's very good. I'll see if I can't dig a
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: link up and throw it your way.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: Yeah, please, please, absolutely, I will watch that. Now, Aaron,
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: it looks like you've been cornered. So that's just what
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: topic comes up. And remember I have no control over
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: what I know.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I know it's random shuffling it up. Unbelievable, all right,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: beast yelling for the block.
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: Please, that is amazing. I think you'll find that these
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: other these other ones are not quite not quite as
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: dark or difficult as the first one. But let's see
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: what holy ship here we go. I think you're gonna
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: get this in. In two thousand and six film Clerks To,
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: an attempt at a last second bachelor party for main
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: character Dante goes horribly wrong when he is presented with
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: a live sex show called Kinky Kelly and the Sexy
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: stud What kind of animal was involved?
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: A donkey?
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: A donkey? You say? Wait? I have to click on
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: the category that you see Aaron Randolph. That is correct,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: All right, game going, Look at this, Look at this drama.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Everybody who's oh god, this is an audio podcast.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: We weren't gonna make it easy.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: I forgot that this was an audio format. No one
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: can see the board. I hope you all are enjoying
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: the questions. All right, we're gonna put a video version
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: up as well. That's fair enough, fair enough, all right, Stevie,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: we're bringing it back to you. You have some serious
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: strategic choices to make here.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Oh I really do I really, because I'm pretty sure
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: I'm I'm stillingna choose the same category.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Look, keeps up.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: I'm gonna run out of questions about sex with animals.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: You can never have enough questions about sex with animals.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: I think I will take a beast reality Want Want
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: in the lower left hand corner for a block.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Oh okay, here we go. Nineteen eighty six film Howard
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: the Duck leads to a very uncomfortable sex scene involving
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: a human woman and an anthropomorphic duck. That woman was
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: played by Leah Thompson, who is, for better or worse
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: more well known for trying to sleep with her own
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: son in what nineteen eighty five film Back to the Future, Stevie,
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: back to the Future is correct. Congratulations, that was.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: Great I was waiting for.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: I'm noticing these questions are kind of tangentially related to
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: into which I appreciate.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Honestly, how much did I really want in my browser history?
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Oh my god, the next episode of freaking.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: You're could get Let's go, let's go, okay off, here
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: we go back to you with seemingly only one choice.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: Fucking hell.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: I hope, I hope you have a question left, and
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: beast theeality.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: I have one question left. This one hopefully will at
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: least make you think for a minute. But I know
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: it's up your alley, so and the audience. Here we go.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: In nineteen ninety four's Clerks Clerks Won, director Kevin Smith
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: casts some aspiring young actors for major roles, but most
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: of the minor roles were played by people he pulled
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: from his regular life. One such character speaks the following
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: line quote, It's important to have a job that makes
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: a difference. Boys. That's why I'm manually masturbate caged animals
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: for artificial insemination. Unquote. Who was this actress. I don't
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: necessarily need an exact name.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Gigliotti, I don't know, Oh, dear.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: I am sorry. Aaron Randolph. The correct answer I would
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: have accepted Virginia Smith or Kevin Smith's. Did you know
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: that one, Stevie, you looked excited about?
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: I know that one.
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I barely remembered the line, let alone who said it?
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: So Well, that's fair, I mean to be fair, though.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: That's my favorite of all Kevin's movies. Though, that's the
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: one I've watched and listened to the most.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: I'm so sorry. All right, Well, there's a lot hanging
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: on this now, Stevie. I hope we get a new category.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: I hope we don't.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: I've got a question in my head. I could make
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: up as I go along, but I really don't want
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: any more beast reality.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: You put it in your game twice.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: All right, here we go shuffling.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: Okay, that's a little bit different. I'm gonna choose it
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: then you. No, let's go for the win. Cult and
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: the upper right hand collar.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: All right, cults for the win. Where's my cult category?
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: It's here, somewhere here we go, all right, the branch
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Davidians were founded by a man named Benjamin Rodin, but
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: were famously led into destruction by David Koresh, who considered
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: himself to be the second Coming of Christ. Between the holding,
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: between the hoarding of weapons and reports of rampant child abuse,
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: the United States government cracked down on the cult by
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: forming a blockade outside their compound, which was located in what,
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Texas city?
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: God, I have no idea San Antonio.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: Oh, I'm sorry, Stevie. That was not a correct answer.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Waco, Texas, Texas on the map. Literally is the only
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: reason people know Waco because the branch Davidian's gotten a
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: huge They sieged the compound, literally rated the place, and
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: a lot of people died. Bad people bad, and I
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: think a few good ones.
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Well, I mean the children at least were innocence. David
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: Koresh did go down in the ensuing chaos.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Okay, I've been granted a reprieve. I gotta make the
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: mess of it.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: This game is not over. There's some categories that we
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: haven't even touched yet, so.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I'm hoping one of them comes up here.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: We got shuffle.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Space in the upper right, please for the block.
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: Okay, here we go. I already did that one. All right,
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: here we go. An Earth year is the time it
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: takes the Earth to make one full orbit around the Sun.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: Neptune was discovered in eighteen forty six and takes one
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: hundred and sixty five Earth years to make its orbit,
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: meaning we only discovered Neptune slightly more than one Neptunian
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: year ago. If Neptune was named after a Greek god
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: instead of its Roman counterpart, what would its name be.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: Poseidon? Poseidon is correct?
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph seculations X gets in the game.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: All right, still in the game.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: That was a great space question, wasn't that?
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: That was?
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Here we go, Stevie. I'm shuffling for you. Here we go.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: Oh fuck God, I like, I'm sorry, I'm out of questions.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Can you reach bally questions? I'm gonna just have to
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: shuffle Upain. I'm so sorry to rob you of this opportunity. Stephen.
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: It's fine. I would have won otherwise.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: But that's fine. You were saying you thought you'd written
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: too many.
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: Finally a new category. Well wait, I can't speak for you, Stevie.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: Where would you like to go on the board.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: I'm going that one now now, I am. I'm gonna
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: go with hello death in the right middle to black
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: Aaron's win.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: Okay, Oh, this first question. I think Aaron might know this,
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: but I don't know Stevie knows this. Let's find out.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: On this day in nineteen sixty seven, Charles Darrow died.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: That's August twenty eighth, nineteen sixty seven. Charles Darrow was
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: considered by many to be the inventor of the very,
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: very terrible board game Monopoly, but this was not the case.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: The game that was eventually twisted into the pro capitalism
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: Bore You to Death game was actually first invented by
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: Elizabeth Maggie, but her vision was a cautionary tale about
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: property ownership. What was her game called.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: Game of Life?
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: I'm sorry now before I say the correct answer this,
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: I actually don't know this. Oh you're a board game guy.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: I thought you know this.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I am, but I don't like Monopoly as well.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: You should not. But the correct answer is the Landlord's Game.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: The Landlord's Game. I have heard that, I just didn't
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: remember it.
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: Since we're all podcasting here, there is a great episode
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: of The Dollop about that. My episode is called The
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: Landlord's game, and it is a hell of and you
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: will not like anyone involved except for Elizabeth Maggie.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: It has been all of the game. But I'm gonna
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: try and put it away. Shuffle me. You're taking whatever
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: this is right, unless it's yes, I will take space
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: in the middle, right for the win.
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: I'm sorry, you'll take but space? There we go? Thank you?
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Or should I do the Tim Curry space?
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: I would if I could, but I can't, so I'm
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: just gonna say space, all right, for the win? Aaron Randolph.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: In two thousand and six, Pluto was reclassified from planet
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: and Member and good Standing of our Grade school and
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: mammonic Devices to dwarf planet. In twenty fourteen, a comedy
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: science fiction TV show spoofed the arguments about Pluto's status
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: as a planet, with a plot line involving the planet
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: slowly shrinking due to over industrialization by its inhabitants.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Name that TV show A Sorry You Said a comedy show.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: Comedy science fiction TV show spoofed this Pluto debate with
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: over indust relation by Plutonians mining their own planet to death.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna take a stab in the dark as it's
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: the only comedy sci fi show I can think of
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: and say futurema, so close.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: You were on the right track with animation, but the
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: correct answer was Rick and Morty.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Fuck. Oh, damn it, damn it.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: The game continues. I'm I'm shocked. This is one hell
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: of a square right, this is a slug fest. Oh
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: my god, I just wanted to get a nose bleed loses.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: He's a shadowed the block.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Noffling. God, damn it, shuffling again. Oh, we haven't seen
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: this one yet.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Finally, m hmm.
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: But you don't have to take that.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: I was just thinking, you know what, I'll do survival games.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: I don't know any two hits.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: You know, one hit one right, survival games. Here we go.
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: What if, honey, I shrunk the Kids was a nightmare
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: about how much we really hate spiders, you'd probably give
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: it a new name, like the name of this twenty
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: twenty surve rival game about very very small children that
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: got lost in their own backyard. Grounded Stevie, Grounded is correct.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I was playing the Beato Grounded too last week.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: Oh how is it? As soon as you said it,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: I'm like, I know this guy knows the answer.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: I know he playing today with my old podcast buddy.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: All right, Oh it's awesome.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: Look at that. We're down to two squares left on
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: the board, and the only category I'm rewriting here is bestiality, So.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: I have to force a tie. I can't take the win,
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: So I love I love you if you leave it there?
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: Shuffling again, sir, shuffling again.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Oh, ship, you do it. Okay, it's gonna be facco
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: for the block and the tie game and or win. No,
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: it's a tie game once I. If I take that,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: then neither of us can win, So it becomes a tie.
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: If I take it, isn't it red?
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: If you take it, it's a win.
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: Where the hell is my faco category? All right, here
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: we go? All right, let's make this.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: A good one.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: You guys ready, ready, hold on to your dicks, bitch
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: is here we go. Zanfaneus the Great is a twentieth
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: level wizard with a bass facco of fourteen. Having mastered
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: the world of magic, he's decided it's time to finally
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: practice whacking things with his magical plus four quarter staff
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: of striking. Unfortunately, all of the really easy monsters run
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: away from Zanfanius, for he is great and The first
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: creature he finds that holds its ground is a stone
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: giant with an armor class of zero. Regrettably, all those
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: years of intense study have caused Zanfanius' arms to atrophy,
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: leaving him with a paltry five strength and a minus
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: two penalty for it. What will he have to roll
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: on a D twenty? We'll hit that giant sixteen? Sorry?
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: What was that?
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: Aaron Randolph?
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Twelve twelve is the correct answer, gets the block, and
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: with that it is impossible for either of us to win.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Therefore, Stevie has gotten himself a tie, and I will
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: double the token winning from five to ten dollars for
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: Western New York heroes.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: But you now have a chance to double that again.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Oh shoot by playing Beat the Dragon.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: Oh crap, Okay, let's do it, Jeff, you're doing exciting,
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: very exciting, all right, Stevie for a tie game. This
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: is a great opportunity. I'm pretty sure you could win
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: a brand new car or whatever, one of the two.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: All right, so do you understand the original game?
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Here is Stevie, what are the rules of the game? Rules?
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Are you are searching for monetary values or the words
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: tick or tack? If you get tick or tack, you
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: instantly win monetary value the sorry tick and attack, You're right,
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: you instantly win. If you score monetary values that total
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: up to one thousand dollars, you win. But if you
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: find the dragon, you lose and possibly die.
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: Can I win the dragon instead?
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: No, Sadly, you don't have.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: A dragon everything else.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Okay, kind of need him for the rest of the games.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, here we go, Stevie. I'm shuffling the boxes.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Okay, okay, okay.
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: Dragon is someone I'm gonna choose. The first one is
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: the dragon?
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I made it two pole picks in.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: Well, I'm going to start with my favorite number, the
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: number nine.
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: The number nine. Let's find out what's behind the number nine.
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: Stephen, you called you called it literally first, I want
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: I want the pet dragon.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: Want, I want the dragon?
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: Guys, you will will send the dragon to your home address?
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: All right, well, Stevie, you did not you did not
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: win to beat the dragon, but you did tie.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: So I am going to donate ten dollars to Western
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: New York heroes in your name. Well done. Congratulations, you
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: did not beat me, but damn did you make it close?
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: And I was sweating it. I was literally I was
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: sure you were gonna win when.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: I started dropping a bad that second game, with the
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: exception of the sheer amount of beast reality involved that
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: I could not have gone better.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: No, t F Jeff, you have done an amazing job
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: being a guest host for this episode.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Thank you so much. This was everything I dreamed of anorn.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: It was fantastic.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: Thank you so much for doing this, h and you
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: are absolutely welcome to come back and do it again
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: sometime if you want, but let's put a little distance
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: between now and then. And of course you can be
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: a contestant if you'd like to try and beat me
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: and take my money, sir, please, that is going to
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: be it for our show.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Thankfully, Stevie did not beat me at the game show,
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: but he came awfully close and he tied. Can you
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: win Aaron Randolph's money if you'd like to be a
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: host and host a specific game show that you like
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: in particular, I might be able to make that happen.
