- 0:12Hello friends, it is shown here. It is Friday, it's the 12th of
- 0:16April and you've made it to the end of the week.
- 0:19Congratulations friend. I hope you're feeling good.
- 0:22I hope the weekend ahead has got some treats, some time, some
- 0:26recuperation. My weekend is going to look a
- 0:29whole lot like going out Bush with a bunch of soldiers as we
- 0:34go into a training exercise up in the north of the state.
- 0:37I hope the weather will be warm for us and we won't be out there
- 0:40in the freezing cold and the rain.
- 0:42It doesn't look too bad, actually.
- 0:43It should be good fun, and that is good chaplaincy.
- 0:46Time to get to hang out with soldiers and support them and
- 0:49see how they're going. So I would appreciate your
- 0:52prayer as I am out chaining in this new space.
- 0:56I don't know about you, but unstructured social
- 0:59environments, it's it's just like torture.
- 1:02So as much as I'm looking forward to the opportunity to do
- 1:05this work, it also involves just my absolute social nightmare of
- 1:11being in a space for the whole lot of people with very little
- 1:14structure needing to go and talk to people.
- 1:18I'm going to put on my brave big boy pants and go and do the work
- 1:22that God calls me to do. I hope you have a good weekend
- 1:26because today we get to read Assam together.
- 1:28Yes. And it is some 111, Sam 111.
- 1:33This is a sum of praise, which is actually an acrostic.
- 1:38You know, the old poetry that we used to write in primary school
- 1:40where the first letters spell a word as you look down the page?
- 1:44Well, this is an acrostic, except it's probably a little
- 1:47bit lost in translation as it's an acrostic in Hebrew.
- 1:51But we will just have to trust that as you read down the page
- 1:55with these 10 phrases, it yeah, it made sense.
- 2:00But for us it doesn't need to be an acrostic and poetry.
- 2:04It is just a cracker of Assam that speaks of praising our God.
- 2:09So let's do it together, friends.
- 2:10Let us praise our God. Reading together.
- 2:13Psalm 111 Praise the Lord.
- 2:27I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with His
- 2:31godly people. How amazing are the deeds of the
- 2:35Lord. All who delight in Him should
- 2:37ponder them. Everything he does reveals His
- 2:41glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails.
- 2:46He causes us to remember His wonderful works.
- 2:50How gracious and merciful is our Lord.
- 2:53He gives food to those who fear Him.
- 2:56He always remembers his covenant.
- 3:00He has shown His great power to His people by giving them the
- 3:04lands of other nations. All He does is just and good,
- 3:09and all His commandments are trustworthy.
- 3:13They are forever true to be obeyed faithfully and with
- 3:17integrity. He has paid a full ransom for
- 3:21his people. He has guaranteed His covenant
- 3:24with them forever. What a holy or inspiring name he
- 3:29has. Fear of the Lord is the
- 3:32foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments
- 3:37will grow in wisdom. Praise Him forever.
- 3:52Ah, Lord, we do indeed praise you.
- 3:56We do. Remember your mighty works.
- 3:59We are struck by Your graciousness and Your mercy.
- 4:02To us you have conquered all things that stand before you,
- 4:10all so that in the name of love you can restore us, your people,
- 4:15back to you. And so here, as we bask in your
- 4:20presence, your beautiful holy presence, we are overcome with
- 4:27our thankful hearts, filled with gratitude for everything.
- 4:31Everything that you are, everything that you've done, and
- 4:36everything that you promised for us, You are a good, good God and
- 4:43we adore you. And it's in your name, that
- 4:47precious saving name of Jesus, that we pray all these things.
- 4:52Ah man.
