- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm Rose dam you and I'm fran Torado. Welcome to
- 0:05Speaker 1: Like a Virgin, the podcast for perverts, nerds and transsexuals
- 0:12Speaker 1: is our work. People who are all three and people
- 0:14Speaker 1: who are all three. Intersectionality is important. I think that
- 0:19Speaker 1: that must be said.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Rose.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You know we're gonna have a bit of a chatty
- 0:23Speaker 1: episode this week because well, first of all, doll Invasion,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm a little underwater, but also, yes, homework for the virgins.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I watched Jane Shun Bruns Shun and Bruns is that
- 0:37Speaker 1: It Show? And brun Jay showing Bruns film sex and
- 0:42Speaker 1: Death at Camp Miasma.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I watched Greg Iaki's I Want Your Sex, and now
- 0:49Speaker 2: we each need to see the opposite thing. So we're
- 0:54Speaker 2: giving that's homework for us and also for you virgins,
- 0:59Speaker 2: because next week we're gonna go where I'm like, even
- 1:03Speaker 2: though I haven't seen teen sex yet, I know I'm
- 1:05Speaker 2: gonna have a lot to say about it, and I
- 1:07Speaker 2: have a lot to say about I Want Your Sex,
- 1:09Speaker 2: and I have a feeling it will be similar for
- 1:11Speaker 2: you on the other side of things, so we're gonna
- 1:15Speaker 2: dive deep into those next week. But yes, today is
- 1:18Speaker 2: gonna be a little bit chatty, like a little like
- 1:20Speaker 2: kind of girls girling. Fran and I like we have
- 1:24Speaker 2: seen each other recently, but haven't really like well, actually
- 1:28Speaker 2: we were. We were this weekend at Dollswick. We did
- 1:31Speaker 2: at one point like fully lay down in Jordan's bed
- 1:34Speaker 2: and like and key. So I guess it's not true
- 1:38Speaker 2: that we haven't been like keying recently, but we know
- 1:41Speaker 2: what we haven't done. I think in our new era
- 1:44Speaker 2: of like a virgin, we have really been wanting to
- 1:48Speaker 2: do these like like we've been preparing a lot for
- 1:52Speaker 2: the episodes, like writing a lot of notes, doing deep
- 1:55Speaker 2: dives again, but we actually like haven't done just like
- 1:59Speaker 2: a shit it posty, shit talking gossip session episode in
- 2:04Speaker 2: a while. So I'm didn't we aren't these referred to
- 2:09Speaker 2: as girls girls girling?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's girls girling. Yeah, the girls grolling episode including
- 2:14Speaker 1: a maybe a conversation about a game of friends.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Well, yet, I do think we should like get through
- 2:21Speaker 2: the finale of House of the Dragon because it also
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think it does kind of tie into me filling
- 2:27Speaker 2: you in on what's going on in my life, because
- 2:29Speaker 2: I went to a House of the Dragon event last
- 2:33Speaker 2: night to watch the finale.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I didn't even know it was the finale. First of all.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I also thought it was the series finale. I did
- 2:40Speaker 1: not realize that we have another season.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Or season left, and honestly we have. We have so
- 2:45Speaker 2: much of the bookstory left to go. Then I'm like,
- 2:50Speaker 2: how are they going to cram it all into the
- 2:52Speaker 2: final season because it's not just it's not just the
- 2:57Speaker 2: end of the you know, collision between Rainier and Egon, Like,
- 3:03Speaker 2: there's a whole the war keeps going after that is
- 3:07Speaker 2: kind of figured out, and then there's all the fallout
- 3:10Speaker 2: from the war. So there's a lot to get through
- 3:14Speaker 2: in the next season. I don't know how they're gonna
- 3:16Speaker 2: do it. But but before we talk about the finale,
- 3:21Speaker 2: let me tell you. I got invited a couple of
- 3:23Speaker 2: days ago by HBO to this private dinner. It's part
- 3:29Speaker 2: of this new series they're doing, I guess called Sunday Supper.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It was a dinner. It was a dinner.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I was not allowed to bring up plus one because
- 3:36Speaker 2: it was a very exclusive none of none of us
- 3:39Speaker 2: were allowed to bring plus one.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So that's why I didn't bring you with me.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Otherwise I was not available anyways. Yeah, Okay, so it
- 3:45Speaker 2: all worked out, So it all worked out. It was
- 3:47Speaker 2: at Angel Orsan's Foundation, which for listeners who don't live
- 3:51Speaker 2: in New York City or have never been, is this
- 3:53Speaker 2: like former church that is now like a very bougie
- 3:58Speaker 2: event venue. I've been to one thing there before. It
- 4:03Speaker 2: was a private dinner cooked for us by a chef
- 4:09Speaker 2: from I don't know. Some restaurant did.
- 4:13Speaker 1: The sort of mead and turkey legs. There was mead,
- 4:16Speaker 1: there was heat, there was literally me we we came in.
- 4:22Speaker 2: It was this like gorgeous cathedral. The They have the
- 4:25Speaker 2: iron throne there, so I got to take a photo
- 4:27Speaker 2: in it, which did away did you for for HBO
- 4:31Speaker 2: to send me?
- 4:32Speaker 1: And did you but prick your finger only gently?
- 4:35Speaker 2: I actually was kind of giving the swords a hand job,
- 4:39Speaker 2: of course, so they weren't They weren't actual iron, It
- 4:43Speaker 2: was plastic.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry to blow up their spot. Honestly, you're gonna
- 4:47Speaker 1: get sued for that.
- 4:48Speaker 2: There was also a string quartet playing the game of
- 4:51Speaker 2: Throne score. There were like cocktails, like cocktails like I
- 4:57Speaker 2: was drinking the Sunfire's Turn cocktail, which was like basically
- 5:03Speaker 2: like a like a moscow mule with smoke like dried
- 5:07Speaker 2: ice in it, so it was like smoking ice.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I did spill a drink at one point, like I
- 5:13Speaker 1: felt bad about can you uh in terms of like
- 5:16Speaker 1: what it looked like, was this kind of the drink
- 5:18Speaker 1: falls and to the full gravity all the way to
- 5:21Speaker 1: the floor or did you spill it just on the
- 5:22Speaker 1: table while you were sitting.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So I spilled it on the floor and on someone's
- 5:26Speaker 2: shoe to be fair, like they the shoes were cute,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but I didn't feel super bad about it. Like if
- 5:34Speaker 2: someone had spilled or drink on the shoes I was
- 5:37Speaker 2: wearing my Antimla mister boots, I would have had something
- 5:41Speaker 2: to say.
- 5:42Speaker 1: But do you the glass? Did the glass fall as well?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Did you cast did not fall as well?
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was like trying to get something out of my
- 5:49Speaker 2: purse and just like most of my drinks spilled on
- 5:52Speaker 2: the floor.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Whatever. It was fine.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I got to meet some some it was like all
- 5:59Speaker 2: influences and like, you know, I actually don't really understand
- 6:03Speaker 2: why I was there because I would imagine like I.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Was sitting across like influencer adjacent.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I know, but I was sitting across from someone who
- 6:10Speaker 2: has a million Instagram followers, one million wow, one million.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It was funny.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Like a lot of the other people, they were like, Hi,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I'm an actor and content creator.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I sorry, I'm so sorry. Who in the right mind
- 6:26Speaker 1: would ever identify as a content creator or an influencer? Honestly,
- 6:30Speaker 1: Like that's a slur. People who do that as a
- 6:34Speaker 1: job and are proud of it, but say or something else,
- 6:38Speaker 1: just say you're an artist, Like I'd rather you.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I think that's why people say actor, like actor and
- 6:43Speaker 2: filmmaker and content creator right right, right, right right. Well,
- 6:47Speaker 2: it's like, so what did you want to be before
- 6:48Speaker 2: you figured out the best you were going to do
- 6:50Speaker 2: is like making not to detegrate any of these people
- 6:54Speaker 2: as well.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Well, I mean they're going to make way more money,
- 6:57Speaker 1: oh so much more money, so you know, And I
- 6:59Speaker 1: was still the best dressed, so yeah, of course you were, girl.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I mean, like.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Anyway, So there was like a seven course tasting menu.
- 7:09Speaker 2: We had like these gigantic oysters full of fish eggs
- 7:13Speaker 2: topped with like tomato pure. It was really good. There
- 7:18Speaker 2: was a dragon egg dessert. The show runner, Ryan Condall
- 7:23Speaker 2: was there, the showrunner and serious creator.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Which one is he? In the inside the episode, he's
- 7:29Speaker 1: the bald one okay, and that he's the he's the
- 7:32Speaker 1: most he had shown.
- 7:35Speaker 2: He's the he's the he created the show. And then
- 7:38Speaker 2: the actor who plays Roddy the Ruin was also there
- 7:42Speaker 2: and so he's was the old.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Guy who killed Tower and he.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Was it was really fun to watch his spoiler death
- 7:53Speaker 2: scene with him.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And then the people.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Who host the House of the Dragon podcast were there
- 7:59Speaker 2: and they did like little interview Q and a session
- 8:01Speaker 2: with them. Afterwards, we had like a good night cocktail.
- 8:06Speaker 2: They gave us some swag I have. I have a
- 8:08Speaker 2: Baccarat crystal goblet. Oh that's with it with a etching
- 8:14Speaker 2: that says win or die on it. I also got
- 8:16Speaker 2: a hand of the Queen pen which I'm very excited
- 8:20Speaker 2: to like put on a jacket or something. And it
- 8:25Speaker 2: was a it was a fun night. But let's let's
- 8:30Speaker 2: talk about the episode.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Because I have two things, Okay. One this is not
- 8:35Speaker 1: a question, it's comment. I used to say that Moscow
- 8:38Speaker 1: mules are my favorite drink. I actually think they're bad
- 8:41Speaker 1: and I don't like them.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I love a Moscow mule. I think Ginger the vodka
- 8:46Speaker 2: I think.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'm taking a hard turn. I love Ginger beer. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: love ginger in general, and I think there's something about
- 8:51Speaker 1: like it even as a winter drink, which I think
- 8:53Speaker 1: it is actually firmly an autumn winter and drink, And
- 8:56Speaker 1: people that service for Servant in the summer are kind
- 8:58Speaker 1: of crazy. But it's so refreshed, I know. But it's
- 9:02Speaker 1: traditionally served.
- 9:04Speaker 2: In one of those tin cups, Like it did feel
- 9:07Speaker 2: wrong last night to drink what was essentially a Moscow mule,
- 9:10Speaker 2: but not in a tin cup.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Not in a tin cup. I will also say I
- 9:14Speaker 1: hate tasting menus. It's never not food. I'm always starving.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, let's just say my guts were bubbling
- 9:25Speaker 2: on the way home. I thought maybe I had to
- 9:27Speaker 2: eat in the lettuce. That makes you shit yourself.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Oh oh oh, it's like it sounds like King's Landing
- 9:34Speaker 1: is dealing with a food quality issue. Well they're broke
- 9:38Speaker 1: as fuck. Okay.
- 9:41Speaker 2: That kind of segues us nicely into our discussion of
- 9:43Speaker 2: the episode, because it is the funniest move ever for
- 9:47Speaker 2: Raniera to be broke as fuck but have such intense
- 9:51Speaker 2: post nut clarity that the morning after she has her
- 9:55Speaker 2: sneaky link sent out of the city with enough gold
- 9:59Speaker 2: to by herself a Manson Pento. She was like, Okay,
- 10:02Speaker 2: the crown has no coin, but I gotta get this
- 10:05Speaker 2: bitch out of here.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Crazy. Honestly, I would be so grateful if I
- 10:10Speaker 1: was her, I know, I know, like that the arc
- 10:12Speaker 1: of what is her name? My my Saria homegirl? I
- 10:19Speaker 1: love her rooting for sex workers, former sex workers. But
- 10:23Speaker 1: if I was her, I'd be so relieved.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'd be like, Okay, well, clearly she wasn't because she's
- 10:28Speaker 2: sticking around.
- 10:29Speaker 1: She's sticking around. She's in love. She's in love, right,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think that's clear. No, that she's in love with
- 10:35Speaker 1: r I don't think that. No, she's pissed at Raniera.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And well she's pissed to you. Can you pissed as somebody?
- 10:41Speaker 2: Well, I mean yeah, I think she is. I think
- 10:42Speaker 2: she was genuinely very heartbroken when when uh Alyssa Alyssa Massey,
- 10:49Speaker 2: who's Raniera's like lady in waiting, like when to tell
- 10:53Speaker 2: her cocky by number two, give her her disagreement, gave
- 10:56Speaker 2: her her walking papers like I'm top dog.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Now and at the end and in one hour you
- 11:02Speaker 1: will be logged out of your Gmail.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Oh that's literally what it was.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Giving. Oh my god. She walked up and she was
- 11:11Speaker 1: just like, so these are your terms. Wait, here's your
- 11:14Speaker 1: non disclosure.
- 11:15Speaker 2: No, it was the Lady in waiting was literally and
- 11:18Speaker 2: Hathaway in that meme of her on drag Race looking
- 11:21Speaker 2: like an looking like an HR executive.
- 11:25Speaker 1: She was HR. Wow. Yeah, and that was tough to
- 11:30Speaker 1: that was stone cold, yeah, stone cold. But yeah, she's
- 11:35Speaker 1: sticking around and you're also murdered the pope. Murdered the
- 11:39Speaker 1: Pope really sickening. Honestly, I loved it, but I love
- 11:42Speaker 1: when people are I love when Catholic and Christian figures
- 11:50Speaker 1: are under duress.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I loved it also, but you know, it was a
- 11:55Speaker 2: bad move. It was a bad It was a bad
- 11:57Speaker 2: move politically because I think what we really see by
- 12:03Speaker 2: the end of the episode, and what I'm interested to
- 12:05Speaker 2: see play out next season, is like the small folk,
- 12:09Speaker 2: they have had it and she just killed their religious leader,
- 12:12Speaker 2: stood up in front of them, called herself the prince
- 12:15Speaker 2: who was promised, very embarrassing for her, and told them
- 12:21Speaker 2: about this ransom vague threat in the north, and then
- 12:27Speaker 2: spoken high Valerian like she could not have made herself
- 12:31Speaker 2: more of like more separate from the people when the
- 12:37Speaker 2: whole her whole thing is like Ranier was the realm's delight,
- 12:41Speaker 2: that's what they called her, and now she's squandered all
- 12:44Speaker 2: that goodwill.
- 12:46Speaker 1: She's a fool. Well, she's not a fool, she's like paranoid.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I think I think she has I think now she
- 12:53Speaker 1: is actually into full territory. I think this episode, even
- 12:56Speaker 1: though she's always been impulsive, this episode was a very
- 12:59Speaker 1: like fuck it on another level. I am going to
- 13:02Speaker 1: make decisions, I know, to be reckless.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, she was so destabilized from finding out that
- 13:08Speaker 2: Eggon was back.
- 13:09Speaker 1: She was like I like she was crying to Damon.
- 13:14Speaker 2: She's like, yeah, she was like husbunk husbunkle please.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I mean she helped me. She was humiliated.
- 13:23Speaker 2: It is she was at her lowest, fat, nasty, and broke.
- 13:26Speaker 2: She came on this dragon mad as hell.
- 13:28Speaker 1: She came on this dragon mad as hell. And and
- 13:32Speaker 1: not just that, she took a fucking you know bella lash,
- 13:37Speaker 1: cut it into six pieces and glued two right under
- 13:41Speaker 1: her eye. What's up with her eye makeup? It was
- 13:44Speaker 1: such a bizarre choice from the makeup directors that like
- 13:48Speaker 1: I understood and also did it like I was like,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I understand that we aesthetically are now seeing full tyrant Rania,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like well full authoritarian and like fascist fascist Ranera, like
- 14:02Speaker 1: that is clear, and so I think they were kind
- 14:04Speaker 1: of like, hm, but she needs a makeover.
- 14:07Speaker 2: So she got a makeover. But they were like, let's
- 14:10Speaker 2: give her a nineteen twenties ass, like tiny lash in
- 14:16Speaker 2: the middle of her eye.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah, like what the It was like fucking glam netics,
- 14:21Speaker 1: like just right there. I was like, this is crazy,
- 14:25Speaker 1: but I didn't hate it. It was a little evil,
- 14:28Speaker 1: like it was severe, It was a little It was
- 14:30Speaker 1: a little evil, and I.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Like, well, between I think her making Alan stab the Pope, yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 2: her confrontation with Bayla who needs a gun.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yes, and confrontation with pregnant homegirl Oracle.
- 14:49Speaker 2: The scene between Helena and Raniera made me so sad,
- 14:55Speaker 2: like when Helena said when she was talking about the
- 14:58Speaker 2: beetle and she was like everything thing you love is ugly,
- 15:02Speaker 2: like cleared her ass, and then Raniera makes the force
- 15:07Speaker 2: feed her.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Oh my god. It made me so sad. It also
- 15:09Speaker 1: reminded me.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I don't know if you ever watched the HBO original
- 15:12Speaker 2: movie Iron Jawed Angels about the Suffragette movement, but there's
- 15:16Speaker 2: a similar scene in that featuring Hilary Swank getting force
- 15:19Speaker 2: fed food. But I hated it made me so so
- 15:25Speaker 2: oh yeah, Maddy's secret down.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I yeah, so that then also, okay, Raniera did that.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Ranier also then she severanced her her you know, her
- 15:36Speaker 1: side piece. She does this speech. Wait, there was like
- 15:41Speaker 1: one other crazy things she did. Oh who is this child?
- 15:44Speaker 1: That was actually I need some of the explain who's
- 15:46Speaker 1: this child that's now her?
- 15:48Speaker 2: What that is Jeffrey? He is her the youngest of
- 15:52Speaker 2: her sons, her bastard well her bastard sons, and then
- 15:58Speaker 2: she has the only children she has left, or her
- 16:01Speaker 2: two sons with Damon, who we haven't seen since the
- 16:05Speaker 2: first season. But they will need they will need to
- 16:10Speaker 2: at least bring one of them into the final season
- 16:14Speaker 2: because he becomes very plot significant. So yeah, that was
- 16:19Speaker 2: her son who is now her heir. And he looked
- 16:21Speaker 2: so unimpressed with everything she was telling him. He was like,
- 16:26Speaker 2: where's my iPad?
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yeah? Literally, like literally like rianiro was like, okay, this
- 16:31Speaker 1: is my next plan, and it's like truly, so yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: it's just feeling so dark. That's why I was like
- 16:37Speaker 1: I was like, this feels like the final season to me,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I can't believe that there's a whole other season of this.
- 16:41Speaker 2: No, there's so much left. We said goodbye to some divas,
- 16:48Speaker 2: most notably Ormond High Tower, who's so gay. He got
- 16:53Speaker 2: stabbed to death in the ass. Yeah, and then went
- 16:56Speaker 2: up in flames. That's about the gayest day you can have.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and was giving. It was a really good yet
- 17:04Speaker 1: really good death scene. So good.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It was amazing that he that, Like it was so
- 17:08Speaker 2: satisfying because he was such a like tyrant all season,
- 17:11Speaker 2: so for him to have such a satisfying death with
- 17:15Speaker 2: Roddy the Ruin laughing behind him as the dragon burned
- 17:19Speaker 2: their asses.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he's so sick, really really fierce, Like, uh, I
- 17:24Speaker 1: love that death. Helena. Helena's death, as we said earlier,
- 17:30Speaker 1: I actually don't get it. I know it's been explained
- 17:32Speaker 1: as kind of like, oh, she knows that her life
- 17:36Speaker 1: is just always going to be like this, and so
- 17:37Speaker 1: she should kill herself. And it's like, no, your mom
- 17:40Speaker 1: could come back, but do you not want to stay
- 17:43Speaker 1: alive for your mom? No?
- 17:44Speaker 2: Because her mom. This season we spent watching her like
- 17:49Speaker 2: start hating her mother. Because her mom was like, get
- 17:53Speaker 2: aboard the kid, We've all done it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: She doesn't, she knows.
- 17:58Speaker 2: And and then I think the final betrayal was when
- 18:01Speaker 2: she realized that Alison lied about having the kid meet
- 18:06Speaker 2: them when they were going.
- 18:07Speaker 1: To escape the palace, like, oh wait, I miss that.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, And the remember when they got stuck in the
- 18:13Speaker 2: hallways behind the palace when they were trying to escape.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Alison had told Helena to get her to agree to it,
- 18:20Speaker 2: that they were going to that someone was going to
- 18:22Speaker 2: meet them with her daughter, And then she realized that
- 18:27Speaker 2: Allison was lying about it. So I think that was
- 18:29Speaker 2: the straw that broke the dragons back.
- 18:32Speaker 1: She was like, I have no one here. I'd no
- 18:34Speaker 1: one here.
- 18:34Speaker 2: She had like the prophecies she had, you know, we
- 18:38Speaker 2: saw in her dreams in the last episode, like she
- 18:40Speaker 2: had all these fantasies of ways that this could work out,
- 18:44Speaker 2: Like she could be, you know, off living with her children,
- 18:48Speaker 2: with some chickens. She could get on her dragon and
- 18:51Speaker 2: Dracaris her way out of King's Landing. And really the
- 18:55Speaker 2: only thing that was left to her was to kill herself.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And that's so sad and devastating and like it says
- 19:03Speaker 2: so much about this world that like, the one person
- 19:07Speaker 2: who kind of had a bird's eye view of it
- 19:09Speaker 2: who knew what was coming, was like, out, where is
- 19:14Speaker 2: her dragon? Her dragon is in the dragon pit, which
- 19:17Speaker 2: will also become significant next season.
- 19:22Speaker 1: You are fortunately almost spoiling things. Honestly, you better watch it.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not saying anything. Well, I'm sorry, I'm not
- 19:29Speaker 2: saying anything. This is an adaptation of a novel, so
- 19:33Speaker 2: it's also going to change. Many things can change. Okay,
- 19:38Speaker 2: what were some other moments of the episode. I really
- 19:40Speaker 2: liked the scene with Alice the Witch at Heronhall and
- 19:44Speaker 2: aimoned that is some backstory that is not in the book.
- 19:49Speaker 2: So this is a show invention, but like it very
- 19:51Speaker 2: much is plausible, and I thought it was really interesting
- 19:55Speaker 2: and it was nice to see her like being vulnerable.
- 19:59Speaker 2: The scene with Agon and aimed, like, uh, his line
- 20:04Speaker 2: delivery of I'm alive, it was so incredible.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It's so crazy how we went from really hating this
- 20:12Speaker 1: character to like, actually now at this point in the show,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm on his team.
- 20:17Speaker 2: People were cheering for him at this event last night,
- 20:20Speaker 2: and I was like, well, you're cheering for Agon.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I get it.
- 20:24Speaker 2: He's such a he is. She is being played. The
- 20:27Speaker 2: actor is really compelling. It's a really good performance and
- 20:32Speaker 2: I get it like they have. They this season has
- 20:34Speaker 2: done a really good job to make Team Green more
- 20:39Speaker 2: sympathetic through Aimened and Agon and even Darren a little bit,
- 20:45Speaker 2: and to make to really show us.
- 20:47Speaker 1: How fallible Rnier is. Nevertheless, I'm with her. You're still
- 20:52Speaker 1: with Rania?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Wow, she's the She is not the prince that
- 20:56Speaker 2: was promised, but she's the queen.
- 21:00Speaker 1: She needs to transition. That is her throne. Oh my god,
- 21:04Speaker 1: this lot could have been solved. It could have been
- 21:06Speaker 1: solved literally, sorry literally, could have been so easy for
- 21:11Speaker 1: her him a couple things that Ryan Condall told us
- 21:16Speaker 1: last night that I just thought were interesting.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So this the season three. They shot for three hundred
- 21:24Speaker 2: and eighty one days. That's my god, over a year
- 21:27Speaker 2: for one season of television. The Battle at Tumbleton took
- 21:31Speaker 2: forty one days to shoot, The Battle of the Gullet
- 21:34Speaker 2: was about thirty and Helena her death, the scene where
- 21:40Speaker 2: she's dead was her last scene that she filmed, and
- 21:44Speaker 2: then she had to say goodbye to everybody with that
- 21:46Speaker 2: prosthetic spike sticking out of her neck, which I thought,
- 21:48Speaker 2: Oh my god, cute, But what did you think of
- 21:52Speaker 2: the season as a whole?
- 21:54Speaker 1: I thought that, like every season of House a Dragon
- 21:59Speaker 1: in Game of Throw, there are going to be episodes
- 22:02Speaker 1: that are just tons of exposition and moving things along
- 22:05Speaker 1: and like people talking to each other, which is my
- 22:07Speaker 1: least favorite genre of fantasy. But I had this thought
- 22:12Speaker 1: last night while I was watching it, where I was
- 22:13Speaker 1: kind of like, if I were to compare House of
- 22:16Speaker 1: Dragon to Game of Thrones, I ultimately enjoy the containment
- 22:21Speaker 1: of the story of House of Dragon and how the
- 22:25Speaker 1: story truly zooms in on a relatively singular goal, Like, yes,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it is once again a Game of Thrones, but there's
- 22:36Speaker 1: there's so much I love having to focus in on
- 22:40Speaker 1: a smaller world. And I also really love all of
- 22:44Speaker 1: the different ways that the working class are brought into
- 22:48Speaker 1: the story and the characters that are kind of representing
- 22:52Speaker 1: those values or that this kind of like group of
- 22:54Speaker 1: people are like in the episode I do come on
- 22:57Speaker 1: working Families, Party of West ROAs. Yes, literally that. How
- 23:01Speaker 1: do you feel ultimately about the season.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I liked it much more than last season. Yes, I
- 23:06Speaker 2: think it was a lot darker. The characters got more complex,
- 23:10Speaker 2: there were things I didn't like that. I just you know,
- 23:14Speaker 2: Allison in the source material, Like at this point, Allison
- 23:19Speaker 2: is not part of the story, so everything they've done
- 23:22Speaker 2: with her is a show invention. I just think they
- 23:24Speaker 2: like don't really know what to do with her. So
- 23:28Speaker 2: that's kind of a bummer. Otherwise, I thought this was
- 23:32Speaker 2: a really good season. Lots of dragons, yeah, lots of
- 23:37Speaker 2: gay guys.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I'm reading the dragons and the gay guys and that's it. Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I got GWayne lost two tops this season. He lost
- 23:48Speaker 2: Kristen Cole and his cousin. He and he's already dead
- 23:54Speaker 2: at this point in the book, so who knows what's
- 23:55Speaker 2: going to happen to him?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Right? GWayne is gay? Right? He is gay? Confirmed? He's gay.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Love that. Yeah. He He is definitely my favorite twink
- 24:06Speaker 1: and on the show he's a good twink in general.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Grey Freddy, uh, Freddy Fox or something, I don't I
- 24:15Speaker 2: don't know his name, it's Freddy something, right, He's hot.
- 24:20Speaker 2: He was also in the Netflix Sandman Show in which
- 24:24Speaker 2: he's gay with Jeffrey from Game of Thrones. No way,
- 24:31Speaker 2: Jeffrey one of they're gay for each other. One of
- 24:34Speaker 2: the most upsetting villains in the History of humanity Jeoffrey. Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 2: in such a Sandman, he's Puck whoa And.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I couldnt really.
- 24:47Speaker 2: What's his face? The twink is Loki and.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I could not really get into Sandmon. I tried watching
- 24:55Speaker 1: the first episode and I was like, I don't really
- 24:57Speaker 1: want to watch a show that's essentially like a surrealist poem.
- 25:00Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah?
- 25:01Speaker 2: And you know what now you never have to because
- 25:03Speaker 2: Neil Gayman sucks, babe.
- 25:06Speaker 1: If I wanted to watch a surrealist poem, I'd be
- 25:08Speaker 1: go seeing Cats on Broadway.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Okay, which is now closed, which is crazy. It's actually
- 25:13Speaker 2: psycho like, how the fuck? Although they are still recording
- 25:16Speaker 2: an original Broadway cast album.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Thanks that news. I think that's so fierce. I'm so
- 25:21Speaker 1: excited to hear Chastity more on the track there. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: did see uh. I did see the performance again and
- 25:28Speaker 1: the and Grizabella was played by the understudy who was
- 25:33Speaker 1: name unfortunately escaped me at this time, but she tore
- 25:39Speaker 1: so good. I'm so sorry that I can't remember your name.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I will maybe link.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Is she the diva who had kind of like the
- 25:45Speaker 2: alto voice. It was like one of the side characters
- 25:50Speaker 2: when we saw.
- 25:51Speaker 1: It, poss I can't uh possibly, yes, I honestly should remember,
- 26:00Speaker 1: but I bring it up to say that it is
- 26:04Speaker 1: like disappointing that like Broadway still has never really figured
- 26:08Speaker 1: out like how to finance shows that are actually successful,
- 26:13Speaker 1: like you know what I mean. Like that's like the
- 26:16Speaker 1: problem with most shows on Broadway is even if a
- 26:19Speaker 1: show is filling ninety eight percent of its audience every night,
- 26:24Speaker 1: which like it was true for Cats at a certain
- 26:26Speaker 1: point in time, it still ultimately can't fund itself if
- 26:30Speaker 1: the math isn't mathing and if like sales started to
- 26:33Speaker 1: decline and so yeah, Broadway shows have to be one
- 26:37Speaker 1: hundred percent profitable to survive. The under study's name is
- 26:40Speaker 1: Garnette Williams and she was a fucking bomb. Loved her,
- 26:44Speaker 1: but uh yeah, I'm like I had a really bizarre
- 26:48Speaker 1: experience a couple like a week and a half ago,
- 26:54Speaker 1: as my friend brought me to a dinner that their
- 26:58Speaker 1: family had wanted an action at Vanessa Williams house.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh my god, I mean I didn't know about I
- 27:05Speaker 2: know about this, but I haven't like gotten the full
- 27:08Speaker 2: story from you, So please please go.
- 27:11Speaker 1: The honestly, like what can I even say. We drove
- 27:18Speaker 1: to where she lives in, you know, I think Bedford,
- 27:21Speaker 1: New York or something like that. You know, the door
- 27:25Speaker 1: opens and it's Vanessa Williams in a sun dress and
- 27:28Speaker 1: flip flops, and I'm like, oh my god, this is
- 27:31Speaker 1: so crazy. And we had dinner with ten or twelve people,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and all of them were Broadway producers, every single one
- 27:37Speaker 1: of them. And it was really interesting to hear them
- 27:42Speaker 1: all discuss, ultimately what is the same issue, all of
- 27:46Speaker 1: them understanding that they, yes, do theater as a passion,
- 27:52Speaker 1: like yes, not every project they invest in is going
- 27:55Speaker 1: to be lucrative, and also like it has to make
- 28:01Speaker 1: ends meet, and them negotiating like how they decide to
- 28:06Speaker 1: finance shows and blah blah blah blah. It was really
- 28:09Speaker 1: really interesting to hear, especially with like Venessa Williams, like
- 28:12Speaker 1: sitting right there. She had multiple portraits of herself in
- 28:15Speaker 1: her house, fabulous one of her which was like a
- 28:17Speaker 1: commissioned painting of her as the witch and in the
- 28:20Speaker 1: woods looking so oh my god. I literally used her toilet.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I farted in her toilet. It was so beautiful. I've
- 28:29Speaker 1: never been happier. Honestly, we all talked about what our
- 28:34Speaker 1: first Broadway shows were, and even though technically it would
- 28:38Speaker 1: be Wicked, because I saw it in Chicago, like the
- 28:42Speaker 1: Broadway Rendition in Chicago. Yeah, but that's not that's not
- 28:45Speaker 1: that's not Broadway. It doesn't count. Well, see that's what
- 28:48Speaker 1: I said. But then the Broadway producers were like, that's Broadway,
- 28:50Speaker 1: that's Broadway, and I was like, no, it's not. The
- 28:53Speaker 1: first show I saw on broad Away in New York
- 28:56Speaker 1: was How to Succeed in Business Without really Trying, starring
- 28:59Speaker 1: Daniel d Cliff. Did you know? I did not know that. Yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: it was incredible. I never saw that production, but it
- 29:06Speaker 1: was really good. There's a dance break in that that
- 29:08Speaker 1: Daniel Radcliffe like, it's so delicious. He's so good. But yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 1: I on the state of Broadway cats, et cetera. I
- 29:20Speaker 1: really don't know why it's going away. I think it's confusing.
- 29:24Speaker 1: It's not that it can't be that expensive to make.
- 29:28Speaker 2: M I think it's I think it's expensive to produce
- 29:32Speaker 2: any Broadway show. But I would imagine that, you know,
- 29:38Speaker 2: I would say that like the musicals with less uh
- 29:43Speaker 2: inclusive casts seemed to run longer.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I don't even know what's on Broadway
- 29:50Speaker 1: right now, Like, oh, I really want to see the
- 29:54Speaker 1: Lost Boys musical. I know that seems so your tea
- 29:57Speaker 1: and O shade it down.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I'm and it's like vampire music between that and The
- 30:02Speaker 2: Vampire lest At.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Oh when I I.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Just like a an update. I rewatched The Vampire lest
- 30:11Speaker 2: At all the way through and I liked it more
- 30:14Speaker 2: of the second time. But I think all my all
- 30:16Speaker 2: my thoughts still stand. But the music from it is
- 30:23Speaker 2: the vampirelest that will be in my Spotify wrap this year.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, are you serious? Yeah? I listened to
- 30:29Speaker 1: it all the time. It's so good. Have you also
- 30:32Speaker 1: been cranking Hades from the Odyssey from Christopher Nolans Odyssey soundtrack?
- 30:37Speaker 1: I did.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I did think about putting it on a sex playlist, right.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It's pretty dark for a sex playlist, but also not No,
- 30:46Speaker 1: it's giving sex. In my opinion, it is giving sex.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I kind of want to tell my role play story,
- 30:53Speaker 2: but I feel like that's for the Patreon.
- 30:55Speaker 1: No, I think that's for the Patreon.
- 30:57Speaker 2: I think that which is a good reason for you
- 31:00Speaker 2: to subscribe to our patreon at patreon dot com.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Slash like a Vision where we like to share disgusting
- 31:06Speaker 1: little sex stories. I mean, I'm a married woman now,
- 31:09Speaker 1: so I don't have well, you're married to Jesus. I'm
- 31:12Speaker 1: married to Jesus. Uh, so I don't have as much
- 31:17Speaker 1: crazy sex anymore. That isn't with my betrothed Jesus Jesus.
- 31:26Speaker 1: But yeah, I honestly have to say virgins. I've been
- 31:31Speaker 1: so happy with all of the episodes that I've been
- 31:33Speaker 1: so happy with the deep diving we've been doing on
- 31:35Speaker 1: recent episodes, like Rosa and I have so much fun
- 31:37Speaker 1: nerding out on some of these things. We are like,
- 31:42Speaker 1: as we said, back and better than ever. Uh. Because
- 31:46Speaker 1: Rose and I are very busy this month, we're like,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you know, recording some of the bonus episodes like in
- 31:53Speaker 1: between Moments before Doll Invasion. But I have to say,
- 31:56Speaker 1: if you can rate the show five stars on Spotify
- 32:00Speaker 1: or iTunes, please do that. You have no idea actually
- 32:03Speaker 1: how much it really could help. And also just recommend
- 32:06Speaker 1: the podcast to friends. That's like the biggest possible thing
- 32:09Speaker 1: you could do is just for word of mouth.
- 32:11Speaker 2: And if you also want to you know, sweeten the
- 32:14Speaker 2: deal with your mouth, yeah, and get them to listen. Yeah,
- 32:19Speaker 2: I'm not telling you to do it, but I'm I
- 32:22Speaker 2: wouldn't mind.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind. I want to know if you have
- 32:28Speaker 1: seen any like kind of older, any movies lately that
- 32:34Speaker 1: are like not recent and coming out. I feel like
- 32:36Speaker 1: I have one on my letterbox. Uh yes, okay, I
- 32:40Speaker 1: finally watched Titan Oh. I've always been scared to watch it.
- 32:44Speaker 1: The only thing I know is that somebody fucks a
- 32:46Speaker 1: car and gets pregnant with a car. It was. You
- 32:50Speaker 1: will not be surprised to learn that I've loved it.
- 32:54Speaker 1: It's very trans. I have heard that.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Because the star of the movie, who is a serial
- 33:03Speaker 2: killer who gets pregnant with a car's baby, has to
- 33:07Speaker 2: run away and go undercover as this guy's long lost son,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and she's like binding her breast and her pregnant stomach
- 33:18Speaker 2: and so like it was. The film had so many
- 33:22Speaker 2: interesting things to say about, like masculinity and like the
- 33:29Speaker 2: way it's performed. And I also think like there is
- 33:34Speaker 2: definitely a trans narrative.
- 33:36Speaker 1: There's like people say that a lot about Tatane.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and like even maybe not like specifically like trans
- 33:43Speaker 2: in our current conception of it, but because it's a
- 33:49Speaker 2: French film, but I think like it's about gender for sure,
- 33:53Speaker 2: and like gender performance, Like because the idea of a car,
- 33:57Speaker 2: you know, this kind of ultimate symbol of a specific
- 34:01Speaker 2: type of masculinity, like being fucked by it, becoming pregnant
- 34:05Speaker 2: with it, transform like because of that, transforming into a man,
- 34:10Speaker 2: while you're also a serial killer who uses a very
- 34:13Speaker 2: phallic weapon to murder people, but also a very feminine weapon.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Her murder weapon is a titanium chopstick that she uses
- 34:23Speaker 2: to put up her hair, So it's like at once
- 34:26Speaker 2: it's it's this weapon that she's using to penetrate people
- 34:30Speaker 2: in this very like masculine way, but it's this object
- 34:34Speaker 2: of very feminine adornment. So it's just like that is
- 34:38Speaker 2: the kind of thing that the movie explores. I think
- 34:40Speaker 2: it's so interesting and sexy and weird.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I mean, if Donna Harroway has anything to say about it,
- 34:48Speaker 1: all cyborg stories are trans, you know what I mean,
- 34:52Speaker 1: Like Terminator, trans Transformers, Well, Transformers is not sidebarcs. They're
- 34:58Speaker 1: just pure machines. Maybe Transformers is not trans, but there's
- 35:01Speaker 1: trans in the name. It's trans. It's trans. Yeah, that's
- 35:06Speaker 1: all it takes. Yeah, if you transform into something that's
- 35:08Speaker 1: trans period. Yeah, I don't know if I'll ever watch it.
- 35:14Speaker 1: You should everyone, So would you get save five stars?
- 35:18Speaker 1: I gave it. I don't, and that's what it's giving
- 35:22Speaker 1: to me. No, it's not.
- 35:23Speaker 2: It's really well, I think because maybe it's in French
- 35:30Speaker 2: and it has serious themes, but like it's also really
- 35:33Speaker 2: fun and weird, and I think just for the trans stuff,
- 35:36Speaker 2: you should watch it.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I hate movies. I feel like homeworks are it's really
- 35:40Speaker 1: is not.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I had it on my watch list for so long,
- 35:44Speaker 2: and I think I felt the same way that you do,
- 35:46Speaker 2: because I put off watching it forever and I even
- 35:49Speaker 2: started to watch it a month ago and it was
- 35:51Speaker 2: on to be and the first time a commercial came on,
- 35:54Speaker 2: I was like, nope, I'm out. But then I'm so
- 35:57Speaker 2: happy that I went back and watched it because it's
- 35:59Speaker 2: so good. But you know what, you don't have to
- 36:02Speaker 2: watch it if you don't want to.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I you know, after seeing Sex deathic Cam Sex and
- 36:09Speaker 1: deathic Cami as my thing, I'm I'm my quota for
- 36:11Speaker 1: homework movies.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Oh okay, well that's very intrigued for discussion next day.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I bet that because you're a contrarian you're gonna love it. Well,
- 36:21Speaker 1: love I loved I saw the TV glow right.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Even though I had problems with it, I still really
- 36:26Speaker 2: liked it. But you know what I saw what Muriel's
- 36:32Speaker 2: Wedding something I still have not seen Girl Tony possibly
- 36:40Speaker 2: possibly better than The Odyssey, possibly better than up ton Girls.
- 36:46Speaker 1: That's a tall order. Yeah. I tried watching this film
- 36:52Speaker 1: like almost ten years ago with an ex who it
- 36:55Speaker 1: was like their favorite movie and I felt like the
- 37:00Speaker 1: the for the Virgins. Muriel's Wedding is about a girl
- 37:04Speaker 1: that lives in like podunk Nowhere, Australia. She has a
- 37:08Speaker 1: bunch of friends from high school that are like extremely
- 37:11Speaker 1: extremely mean to her, and the rest of the film
- 37:14Speaker 1: is her kind of not necessarily come up in but
- 37:17Speaker 1: she kind of like goes on her own journey to
- 37:19Speaker 1: like make meaning of a new life after coming in
- 37:24Speaker 1: after bagging some cash. But the initial scenes of this
- 37:31Speaker 1: movie are some I'm not going to lie. I know
- 37:35Speaker 1: it's a comedy, but I found the initial scenes of
- 37:38Speaker 1: the high school bullying to be really brutal, like really
- 37:42Speaker 1: really really sad. And I remember that's when the first
- 37:46Speaker 1: time I tried to watch it. That's why I turned off.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I was like, I actually don't think I will enjoy
- 37:51Speaker 1: this movie and place in Australia, right, it's the most Australian.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Why I can't watch it. That's too much Australian accents
- 37:58Speaker 1: for me.
- 37:59Speaker 2: By the titles go on, Yeah, no, I would have
- 38:02Speaker 2: to watch the film on silent with subtitles.
- 38:07Speaker 1: The place she lives in is called pap and Okay,
- 38:17Speaker 1: but I watched it again, fell in love five stars.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Absolutely adored this movie. But the opening scene again so
- 38:26Speaker 1: so devastating to watch her be treated by these mean
- 38:29Speaker 1: high school girls. I shed h two huge, giant, big
- 38:34Speaker 1: fat tears because Tony Compelling, Tony Compelly, Tony Collette is
- 38:39Speaker 1: so compelling, she's so like we should name her, rename
- 38:43Speaker 1: her Tony Compelling, Tony Compelling. She's so fucking devastating. And
- 38:50Speaker 1: I was inspired to watch it because it's another work
- 38:53Speaker 1: that John Early cites a lot in terms of like
- 38:55Speaker 1: inspiration for his work and Maddi's Secret, and you can
- 38:58Speaker 1: really see a version of the thing that Maddy's Secret
- 39:02Speaker 1: Maddy's Secret does where it's like hard, hard comedy punctuated
- 39:07Speaker 1: with really abrupt, sharp turns of like devastating emotional sincerity.
- 39:13Speaker 2: I love that and I have always wanted to watch it.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I'm I actually don't know why I didn't watch it
- 39:19Speaker 2: when I was writing Best Woman, when I was like
- 39:21Speaker 2: watching so many rom coms about weddings.
- 39:25Speaker 1: The ending is so satiating because the characters arc has
- 39:34Speaker 1: a discovery about herself that is so actually more valuable
- 39:40Speaker 1: than anything I've ever done, with like eight months of
- 39:42Speaker 1: AMDR therapy that I like, actually, I was like, I'm
- 39:45Speaker 1: done with this and like, actually Mural's wedding fixed me
- 39:47Speaker 1: up more like I was like, this is some real,
- 39:52Speaker 1: like therapized human shit. Well, I love that you. It
- 39:57Speaker 1: gave you all this emotional catharsis. Yeah, it was beautiful.
- 40:00Speaker 1: There's also in an unexpected place. I love when that happens.
- 40:03Speaker 1: There's also a character introduced toward the end of the
- 40:05Speaker 1: film that's extremely hot in a in a kind of
- 40:09Speaker 1: nineties gay porn way, and I think you'll enjoy that.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Okay, I am sure I will. On the related note
- 40:17Speaker 2: about being moved nearly to tears for me, I recently
- 40:25Speaker 2: I decided I wanted to go back and read a
- 40:28Speaker 2: bunch of classic X Men comics, so I downloaded the
- 40:33Speaker 2: X men Omnibus number one. This is the Chris Claremont
- 40:37Speaker 2: era and it's the introduction of a lot of iconic mutants.
- 40:43Speaker 2: So I was reading the comic panel where Storm is
- 40:47Speaker 2: first introduced, and like it legitimately gagged me and like I.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Like kind of choked up. Oh, I was like that.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I was like, it was so incredible to see this
- 41:00Speaker 2: iconic character who I love so much be introduced for
- 41:05Speaker 2: the first time, and like I'd like you I had,
- 41:08Speaker 2: you know, heard all these things, like I knew all
- 41:10Speaker 2: this lore about her, which is that she was worshiped
- 41:14Speaker 2: as a goddess in Africa, and when Professor X found
- 41:17Speaker 2: her and was like, actually you're a mutant. Come be
- 41:20Speaker 2: part of my paramilitary squad. But actually seeing it, like
- 41:26Speaker 2: the opening scene of her is like her like these village,
- 41:29Speaker 2: these villagers like coming and beseeching her for rain for
- 41:33Speaker 2: their crops, and.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Like it's just was just so fucking cool. That sounds cool.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I mean, uh, Storm halle Berry has like was iconic
- 41:44Speaker 1: as Storm, but like I would I think anybody would
- 41:47Speaker 1: watch us Storm series, we have not.
- 41:49Speaker 2: I think as much as I love halle Berry as Storm,
- 41:52Speaker 2: like I really want especially now that we're we've seen
- 41:57Speaker 2: the introduction of young Jean Gray and we've gotten more
- 42:01Speaker 2: confirmed casting for X Men. Kit Connor is going to
- 42:04Speaker 2: play Cyclops, and so I'm really hoping that we get
- 42:08Speaker 2: a young Storm who we really get to see come
- 42:11Speaker 2: into her own. The rumor is that again, as we
- 42:14Speaker 2: said last week, Jane Lawson is rumored to be playing her,
- 42:20Speaker 2: and I really hope that happens. I'm just so excited
- 42:24Speaker 2: to see a new incarnation of Storm.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I mean Storm, honestly everybody's favorite X Men. Sorry, I'm
- 42:33Speaker 1: sorry to Cyclops slash Kick. Connors is boring as fun.
- 42:38Speaker 1: He's the worst. He's the worst X Men.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I mean he's good because of the drama that he's
- 42:43Speaker 2: involved in, you know, like because of like the love triangle.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Well really it's because of his presence and two iconic
- 42:52Speaker 2: love triangles him Emma Frost, Jean Gray, and then him
- 42:57Speaker 2: Jean Gray Wolverine. So's he's messy boots, which we love,
- 43:03Speaker 2: but he is very boring.
- 43:06Speaker 1: He is just I hate any character that's like the
- 43:10Speaker 1: auto leader, you know what I mean, Like it's it's
- 43:12Speaker 1: unclear like how he has like been. I know that
- 43:16Speaker 1: he was like the first recruit or whatever. But I'm
- 43:18Speaker 1: just like, stop bossing everyone around to the fuck up,
- 43:20Speaker 1: and I hate someone that it feels like a kind
- 43:21Speaker 1: of like he seems like such a clean teen rule follower,
- 43:25Speaker 1: kind of like teacher's pet kind of energy and it,
- 43:28Speaker 1: and in that is like very boring to me. No,
- 43:31Speaker 1: he is.
- 43:31Speaker 2: In this comics run I'm reading, he's like so Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler,
- 43:41Speaker 2: and a couple other mutants all get introduced at once.
- 43:45Speaker 2: They're brought into the X Men because a bunch of
- 43:48Speaker 2: the original X Men have gone missing. I'm the only
- 43:50Speaker 2: one left is Cyclops. And when he's like being their
- 43:53Speaker 2: new team leader, he's so fucking annoying and like I
- 43:57Speaker 2: would be like, find these bitches yourself.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I when I think about like my faves,
- 44:08Speaker 1: I do love Angel. I'm not gonna lie, but we
- 44:10Speaker 1: haven't really had like tons of like Angel movie material.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, he was in X Men Apocalypse, but that's not
- 44:18Speaker 2: a good movie and it wasn't a great depiction of him.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Uh. Storm is probably my favorite, close second. I do
- 44:26Speaker 1: love Nightcrawler, obviously, I love Beast. Beast is arguably the
- 44:32Speaker 1: hottest X Man. He's for sure the hottest. Everyone thinks
- 44:35Speaker 1: Wolverine is really hot. I've kind of actually never felt
- 44:37Speaker 1: I think he's unambiguously jacked. He's unambiguously hot, like you whatever,
- 44:42Speaker 1: but I've never personally that's not been my show.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I think Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is hot, and I also
- 44:48Speaker 2: think the version of him in X Men Evolution is
- 44:53Speaker 2: kind of hot.
- 44:55Speaker 1: You and I need to watch X three. We do,
- 44:58Speaker 1: I and you're back from Honcho. We're watching X three.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm scared for Honcho Rose. What the
- 45:06Speaker 1: fuck am like?
- 45:07Speaker 2: I'm I know, I'm sure you're gonna have a great time.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm I'm a little scared for you as well, but
- 45:12Speaker 2: I know you're gonna love it.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Virgins. You have to know that to go to Honcho,
- 45:19Speaker 1: which is Cancho camp About, which is a kind of like,
- 45:23Speaker 1: I don't want to conflate these two because they're very different,
- 45:26Speaker 1: but it's like a kind of Beltane adjacent, maybe almost
- 45:32Speaker 1: like Burning Men. I'm not gonna say.
- 45:33Speaker 2: It's like fairy music, gay fairy music festival vibes.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like Beltane for people with four O one
- 45:40Speaker 1: k's well, Beltane is also that noane is free. It is,
- 45:46Speaker 1: but like it's like, who can afford to like take
- 45:50Speaker 1: a week off and go to drugs in the woods
- 45:52Speaker 1: besides people who have a lot of money, well, people
- 45:55Speaker 1: who are unemployed. That's true. Uh the I was just
- 45:59Speaker 1: gonna say that you do have to spend so much
- 46:02Speaker 1: fucking money. Did you like to buy assembly, babes. I
- 46:06Speaker 1: we borrowed a tent from day. You have an air matter,
- 46:10Speaker 1: but I have an air mattress. I just realized that
- 46:13Speaker 1: I have to pack that. But I also like, we
- 46:17Speaker 1: have to pack like so much snacks, which I love,
- 46:21Speaker 1: so many different kind of bits and bobs. There's no electricity.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I also just found out that I'm not shitting in
- 46:25Speaker 1: a toilet. I thought there were toilets. There's no toilets.
- 46:27Speaker 1: You just shit in a port of body.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but you then but you get to piss outside
- 46:32Speaker 2: and oh my god, I love I love camping because
- 46:36Speaker 2: I never sleep as well as when I'm sleeping outdoors.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I literally am always. I remember, I've heard you say
- 46:43Speaker 1: that before, and I think it's so shocking that but like,
- 46:46Speaker 1: when was the last time you camped?
- 46:49Speaker 2: Belt No Fall Gathering twenty seven, twenty sixteen, it's been
- 46:56Speaker 2: a while. I would love to go camping again.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Should do it.
- 47:00Speaker 2: We should do like a like a girls camping trip
- 47:03Speaker 2: with like you know, the dolls Cherry and Tory and Lord.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Justin Fuckington eats on an open fire, like, Oh my gosh,
- 47:13Speaker 1: I would love to rose marshmallows. I want to make
- 47:16Speaker 1: s'mores so badly. My baby will definitely have this. You
- 47:20Speaker 1: and I are also played. We're trying to plan something
- 47:23Speaker 1: for the for autumn.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we need to check back in with our
- 47:27Speaker 2: sisters about the French.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Countryside, possibly visiting the French countryside and having our provincial life. Yes,
- 47:34Speaker 1: and maybe we'll do like a little day trip to
- 47:36Speaker 1: Paris because I found out recently because my cousin emailed
- 47:41Speaker 1: me a photo. Best Woman is in Paris in my
- 47:44Speaker 1: favorite bookstore. I'm Shakespeare Company. It's in Shakespeare Company, yes,
- 47:48Speaker 1: oh my god, famously the shop lecter from Shakespeare.
- 47:52Speaker 2: The It hasn't been translated, the translation rights haven't been
- 47:56Speaker 2: bought yet, but it's there are copies of the UK
- 48:00Speaker 2: in Shakespeare Company. And my cousin is there with his
- 48:04Speaker 2: kids on a trip and they spotted it and I
- 48:08Speaker 2: thought it was very cool. Also My nephew started kindergarten
- 48:13Speaker 2: today and he had like a little every time he
- 48:17Speaker 2: like starts a school year, like they take pictures of
- 48:19Speaker 2: him with a little slate and it like you know,
- 48:21Speaker 2: says like his name, his like interest, blah blah blah.
- 48:25Speaker 2: And he took one for kindergarten and it said what
- 48:28Speaker 2: do you want to be when you grow up? And
- 48:29Speaker 2: he wrote an author.
- 48:33Speaker 1: My impact an author slash dj Wrose slash podcast os
- 48:42Speaker 1: slash podcast host. I'm speaking of speaking of babies. There
- 48:45Speaker 1: was a baby at your DJ set this weekend, Yes,
- 48:48Speaker 1: icon it.
- 48:50Speaker 2: There was a there was my booth, bitch this weekend
- 48:55Speaker 2: at Dalswick was a literal baby.
- 48:57Speaker 1: A literal newborn baby name to Hetty.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Name Hetty, who is one of the cutest babies. I
- 49:03Speaker 2: got to meet him, you know, one on one.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Last week, and I'm so obsessed with him, the fashion
- 49:11Speaker 1: baby baby.
- 49:13Speaker 2: I was asking them, like, do you have any like
- 49:16Speaker 2: baby pleats please or like, you know, baby calm and
- 49:20Speaker 2: they said no, So I need to start looking.
- 49:23Speaker 1: They first the fact, Okay, our friends Martin Cook are
- 49:26Speaker 1: literally two of our most fashionable, like tasteful friends I
- 49:29Speaker 1: can possibly think of. I'm shocked that they don't have
- 49:31Speaker 1: baby calm shocked.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Well, it just might not exist if what what?
- 49:38Speaker 1: I don't know?
- 49:39Speaker 2: Wait, okay, speaking of playing dress up with small things,
- 49:42Speaker 2: I have I started an exciting new journey.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I for years.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Have been hovering around this Rose do Wipicator Titanic Franklin
- 49:52Speaker 2: Mint doll from the nineties Rose Rose from Titanic.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Oh.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a a doll of her made in
- 50:01Speaker 2: the nineties by the Franklin Mint, and she has you
- 50:05Speaker 2: can buy every outfit she has from the movie. And
- 50:12Speaker 2: there's a trunk that was sold for her that like
- 50:14Speaker 2: the doll goes in and also like it's like a
- 50:16Speaker 2: little closet and you hang all the dresses up.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Rose. It's only two two hundred dollars. Come on, Yeah,
- 50:22Speaker 1: that's the thing.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I could not find the actual trunk, but I finally
- 50:26Speaker 2: I finally bought one for two thousand dollars. I bought
- 50:29Speaker 2: a men's condition Rose doll in the jump dress, the
- 50:33Speaker 2: like red beaded dress that she wears when she's gonna
- 50:36Speaker 2: jump off the ship and Jack saves her. And then
- 50:39Speaker 2: I also bought the dress that she wears to dinner
- 50:43Speaker 2: when they like go below dancing below decks. I think
- 50:46Speaker 2: the next one I'm gonna buy will be the boarding
- 50:50Speaker 2: outfit with the hat. They even sell the kimono that
- 50:55Speaker 2: she wears to get drawn by Jack. They you can
- 50:59Speaker 2: buy like her her like corset from the scene where
- 51:02Speaker 2: her mom is careful mother, you'll give yourself a nosebleed Rose.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I'm looking at the intricacies. I'm looking at the tiny
- 51:10Speaker 1: heart of the ocean. Yep. Oh my god. This is
- 51:16Speaker 1: like God's her doll collecting like and I like that.
- 51:20Speaker 2: It's I like that I need so many things to
- 51:23Speaker 2: have this, and I want to make it a long
- 51:26Speaker 2: project of collecting every piece from this collection.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I love that there's this trunk set, but she herself,
- 51:35Speaker 1: Kate Winslet, fits into the trunk as well. Yes, that's crazy.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I also really I saw while I was looking at
- 51:45Speaker 2: this on eBay a print of the drawing of Rose,
- 51:49Speaker 2: and I think I need to get it and hang
- 51:51Speaker 2: it in my bathroom.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I think you do. That's a literal perfect bathroom art.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Bathrooms are for porn in my in my.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Toe, I agree, Yeah, I need some porn in my bathroom.
- 52:04Speaker 2: I also really need to paint my bathroom. Finally, I
- 52:08Speaker 2: could not be me.
- 52:09Speaker 1: I have been telling myself I'm gonna paint the rooms
- 52:11Speaker 1: that I wanted to paint my house literally two and
- 52:13Speaker 1: a half years ago.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Well, I keep every year I do the same thing,
- 52:16Speaker 2: which is, when I renew my lease, I'm like, now
- 52:19Speaker 2: it's the time to paint. And then like, if I'm
- 52:23Speaker 2: any less than six months away, if I'm any less
- 52:26Speaker 2: than six months away from renewing it again, I'm like,
- 52:28Speaker 2: well I should just.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Wait till I renew my leiase again, you know.
- 52:31Speaker 2: And it's like, I'm not planning to leave here anytime soon,
- 52:34Speaker 2: but I still let myself do this every time.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, classic white can't go wrong.
- 52:42Speaker 2: No, I really want to paint my bathroom green or
- 52:45Speaker 2: pink or maybe like a black and white stripe moment
- 52:49Speaker 2: stripes And who's doing that?
- 52:50Speaker 1: Your task? Rab it? Yeah, I guess. No.
- 52:53Speaker 2: I think if it was just one solid color, I
- 52:56Speaker 2: think I could paint my bathroom myself.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I don't. I don't do that, or like, I'll ask
- 53:02Speaker 1: Ryan for help and he'll help me with it. Yeah, oh,
- 53:04Speaker 1: I would do it for pizza, or actually we could
- 53:07Speaker 1: trade you help me, I help you paint, Okay, painting day.
- 53:11Speaker 2: I don't know if I want to paint twice. I
- 53:13Speaker 2: would rather ask trying to do it and not have
- 53:15Speaker 2: to do anything in return.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Yeah that's so nice. Yeah, I love that too. Are
- 53:22Speaker 1: what are you? Is there anything you're doing this week
- 53:25Speaker 1: while everyone's at Hancho, Because I feel like everyone goes
- 53:29Speaker 1: to Hansho. It's like a last year. I feel like
- 53:31Speaker 1: I experienced this mass exodus and all my friends were gone. Yeah, no,
- 53:35Speaker 1: I have.
- 53:35Speaker 2: I actually I have plans this week. I'm going doing
- 53:39Speaker 2: like a little like cute charcooterie night with some friends,
- 53:45Speaker 2: getting my bangs trimmed because they're way too long.
- 53:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna see can't death, sex and death that can't
- 53:55Speaker 1: be as.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Sex and death that can't miasma. I don't know if
- 54:01Speaker 2: this is the weekend that my Grandpa's going to be
- 54:03Speaker 2: on Long Island, but if it is, then I'll go
- 54:05Speaker 2: out there to see him.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I have.
- 54:10Speaker 2: I have some stuff going on this week. Well, everyone's
- 54:13Speaker 2: away and I will and even even if I didn't,
- 54:17Speaker 2: I would be fine. Yeah, but I would miss I'm
- 54:20Speaker 2: going to miss you.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I'm going to miss you too, dah. Yeah, I will
- 54:27Speaker 1: always love.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Maybe I should find a remix of that for my
- 54:33Speaker 2: three Doll Invasion sets.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Yes, so excited. You have different vibes to play with
- 54:39Speaker 1: and also not a lot of overlap for these audiences,
- 54:41Speaker 1: so you can certain you can repeat songs. What did
- 54:43Speaker 1: you think of my set on Saturday? I thought the
- 54:46Speaker 1: Madonna remixes were fab I thought there was a lot
- 54:50Speaker 1: of Like I thought there was a lot of kind
- 54:52Speaker 1: of like pop of a certain era that I really appreciated.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Like you did a remix of down Hound that I
- 55:00Speaker 1: saw I thought I thought was so good. There was
- 55:03Speaker 1: a really wait can you remind me of? Like there
- 55:06Speaker 1: were a few other standout remixes that were like nostalled.
- 55:09Speaker 2: They were like either So there was a Donna Lewis
- 55:15Speaker 2: I Love You Always Forever that too.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Yeah, And honestly, what's amazing is that the set itself
- 55:21Speaker 1: did not give nostalgic. It felt extremely contemporary, but like
- 55:26Speaker 1: nodding to this era of pop in a way that
- 55:29Speaker 1: was like truly fat Like, yeah, I loved it. But
- 55:34Speaker 1: I'm kind of a Rosebud. I'm your number one. I'm
- 55:39Speaker 1: number one Rosebud. I listened to your podcast. It's at
- 55:42Speaker 1: least three times it's you every day and my mom
- 55:44Speaker 1: my sisters are my biggest fans. Yes, that's right, baby,
- 55:49Speaker 1: they wait.
- 55:50Speaker 2: Actually I'm confronting you on air because I was talking
- 55:53Speaker 2: to my sisters and they were like, can you make
- 55:56Speaker 2: Fran follow us better?
- 55:57Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'll do it right now. Send me
- 55:59Speaker 1: the did you say I'm calling you. I'm calling you
- 56:02Speaker 1: to the red table? Tell me right now what their
- 56:05Speaker 1: handles are. Okay, and also or just texting to me
- 56:08Speaker 1: so that we don't put so that we don't dox
- 56:10Speaker 1: your sisters. Okay, I will text them to you.
- 56:13Speaker 2: But they were because I believe we had the same
- 56:16Speaker 2: conversation when you met them last year. Really, yes, okay,
- 56:21Speaker 2: I don't because you know they're obsessed with you.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Forgive me. This is my demented brain, a losing track
- 56:27Speaker 1: of things. I will literally follow them. And if you
- 56:30Speaker 1: do they listen to the pod, they do, I don't,
- 56:33Speaker 1: not really, I don't think so they shouldn't they should?
- 56:38Speaker 1: I think I know friends of theirs listen to the pod.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Daniel listens to the podcast. I'm like, baby, don't. I'm like, baby, don't,
- 56:45Speaker 1: don't do that.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Would that's a nightmare if my part if my partner
- 56:49Speaker 2: listens my.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Being so embarrassing, you said, I did. Yeah, there's there's
- 56:56Speaker 1: many people with that name. I know. Yeah, don't go
- 56:59Speaker 1: stock him please. Yeah. No, i I'm like, why baby,
- 57:03Speaker 1: why you get? You get? You could hear my voice?
- 57:06Speaker 2: Well, because the thing is with you, you would anytime
- 57:11Speaker 2: he wants to hear your voice, you would happily just
- 57:15Speaker 2: talk to him for six hours.
