- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Uh huh, I sure will coome on everybody you are
- 0:07Speaker 2: listening to the voice, Come on dig me now, one
- 0:10Speaker 2: and only Steve Harvey. Uh huh got a radio show. Yeah, man,
- 0:14Speaker 2: what a blessing it is. I can't even explain my
- 0:16Speaker 2: whole life. My whole life is a blessing. It really is,
- 0:19Speaker 2: in spite of all the things that's happened. Contraa to
- 0:22Speaker 2: having the appearances of a blessing. As I look back
- 0:25Speaker 2: on my life today, it all happened for a reason.
- 0:28Speaker 2: It all came together, it tied together, and you know
- 0:32Speaker 2: it's important. Man. I think a lot of people that
- 0:34Speaker 2: asked me about my success and how I got here
- 0:37Speaker 2: and how do I attribute in what was the steps?
- 0:40Speaker 1: I want to tell you what it is. Now.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Listen to me before I get started. Please understand that
- 0:44Speaker 2: everything that I tell you is faith based. Everything that
- 0:48Speaker 2: I tell you is faith based. You can double check it.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You can go behind me. Whatever your faith is. If
- 0:52Speaker 2: you go back into the writings and your faith, it's
- 0:55Speaker 2: in there. It's in there.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Now.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I'm not telling you anything new. I'm not giving you
- 0:59Speaker 2: a new angle. I may give you a different way
- 1:01Speaker 2: of saying it. You know, maybe hearing it back to yourself,
- 1:04Speaker 2: but in essence, man, I really do know that I'm
- 1:07Speaker 2: not going to say anything that you may not have heard,
- 1:09Speaker 2: but I phrased it in a different kind of way.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And so this series this week, I want to talk
- 1:14Speaker 2: to you about how to make it kind of a
- 1:16Speaker 2: motivational series. And the first part, the most important component
- 1:21Speaker 2: of it in accomplishing what you want in your life
- 1:25Speaker 2: is you have to identify the dream.
- 1:28Speaker 1: This is the critical step.
- 1:30Speaker 2: A lot of people spend their life squandering and wandering
- 1:34Speaker 2: around because they never identify the dream.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You have to identify the dream.
- 1:38Speaker 2: You have to identify what it is that you want,
- 1:42Speaker 2: what it is that you hope for. You have to
- 1:45Speaker 2: have a goal in mind. You have to have a destination.
- 1:49Speaker 2: You know, when you go outside and put the key
- 1:51Speaker 2: in your car. You never go and put your key
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the car and just get in in and just drive,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you know, unless you're trying to clear your head or something.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But if you talk about going somewhere, you got to
- 2:01Speaker 2: have a destination. You gotta have somewhere you want to go,
- 2:04Speaker 2: or else you're just running around reburning gas. Where you're
- 2:07Speaker 2: going now, I don't know left here, right here, go here,
- 2:10Speaker 2: go there. You know you must identify the dream. The
- 2:14Speaker 2: dream is the single most important part of the component
- 2:17Speaker 2: to making the success out yourself. God can't bless what
- 2:20Speaker 2: you don't have. You can't get what you never give.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Identify the dream. What is it that burns inside you
- 2:26Speaker 2: so it keeps you awake at night? What is it, man,
- 2:29Speaker 2: that makes you smile when you think about it? What
- 2:32Speaker 2: is it, man that you can't seem to quite shape? Okay,
- 2:36Speaker 2: so you go to college, right, you make a decision,
- 2:38Speaker 2: which I disagree with you asking eighteen to a twenty
- 2:41Speaker 2: one year old to make a decision or what he
- 2:43Speaker 2: wants to do and what he wants to be with
- 2:44Speaker 2: the rest of his life. That's tough because guess what,
- 2:47Speaker 2: this young person doesn't really know himself or herself yet.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So you're asking them to identify what it is at
- 2:53Speaker 2: an early age. What consequentially happens is that people get
- 2:58Speaker 2: older and they wind up doing something else, and you
- 3:00Speaker 2: get a degree and you find out what your passion
- 3:02Speaker 2: is with something else. See, identifying that dream as early
- 3:05Speaker 2: as you can is important. Now, whether you're young, or
- 3:08Speaker 2: whether you're or whatever, your whatever, your identity of the
- 3:11Speaker 2: dream is.
- 3:12Speaker 1: That's first.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Now what you have to do then is if I
- 3:17Speaker 2: were you. Here is the part that people never seem
- 3:20Speaker 2: to weld together with that dream, that I want to
- 3:23Speaker 2: be an astronaut, I want to be a doctor, I
- 3:25Speaker 2: want to be a club on it, I want to
- 3:26Speaker 2: be a a DJ, I want to be a ball player,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I want to be a writer, I want to be
- 3:32Speaker 2: a whatever it is, it doesn't matter. Somebody is that already,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and somebody had it as a dream, So it's no
- 3:38Speaker 2: dream too big. Okay, Once you identify the dream, here's
- 3:42Speaker 2: the thing. The best way for that to happen is
- 3:45Speaker 2: that dream should be tied directly to your God given
- 3:49Speaker 2: gift or talent. See that's the part that people miss.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You see Halle Berry on TV and you want you
- 3:56Speaker 2: want to have on one of the dresses on the
- 3:57Speaker 2: red carpet, and you want to stand there and get
- 3:59Speaker 2: the award. You want to have the same people had
- 4:02Speaker 2: to do your hair to do Halle and who do Beyonce?
- 4:04Speaker 2: He all that's good, All that's good man, But do
- 4:07Speaker 2: you have the talent or the gift to accomplish that? See,
- 4:11Speaker 2: don't get outside your scope. I wanted to play in
- 4:14Speaker 2: the NBA when I was eight years old. But something
- 4:17Speaker 2: happened along the way. I didn't have skill set. I
- 4:19Speaker 2: discovered that when I ran as fast as I could,
- 4:22Speaker 2: the basketball was never with me.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Man, that's an important part of all. You know.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I could jump, but I normally didn't have a basketball.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So now see that passion and that dream of being
- 4:34Speaker 2: in the NBA was not tied to my gift. My
- 4:38Speaker 2: gift was when I was sitting there watching them play basketball.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I was the little dude leaning against the fence that
- 4:45Speaker 2: had a comment about.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Everything everybody did. That was it.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I was the commentator, the color commentator, and lord I
- 4:55Speaker 2: was funny. It was one of the few times I
- 4:58Speaker 2: didn't stutter when I was against the fish, talking trash.
- 5:01Speaker 2: But if you took me to school, you took me
- 5:03Speaker 2: to church, you took me in front of somebody, you
- 5:05Speaker 2: sent me to the store, Man, that stuttering just came
- 5:08Speaker 2: over the top of me. I couldn't do it. Remember
- 5:10Speaker 2: the first time I told somebody my dream is to
- 5:12Speaker 2: be on TV. Man, they laughed at me so hard
- 5:14Speaker 2: that they laughed me out the gym because I had
- 5:17Speaker 2: a stuttering problem.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So that caused me never to tell it again. The
- 5:21Speaker 1: best way to.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Accomplish your dream is you got to tie it to
- 5:24Speaker 2: your gift, to the talent that God has given you.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You can't overlook that. See God never created a person
- 5:29Speaker 2: without giving them a talent or a gift. You have
- 5:31Speaker 2: something that you do, and the way to identify that
- 5:34Speaker 2: is very simple. It is the thing that you do
- 5:36Speaker 2: the absolute best with the least amount of effort. What
- 5:39Speaker 2: is that that you do that's better than you do
- 5:41Speaker 2: anything else with the least amount of effort. You do
- 5:44Speaker 2: this it's almost You can draw without you can write,
- 5:47Speaker 2: you can sing. You know how to pull stuff apart
- 5:50Speaker 2: and put it back together. You know how to connect
- 5:53Speaker 2: the dots and cross t's, and you know how to
- 5:57Speaker 2: organize things and put people together. You know how to network.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You know how to shoot videos better than anybody. You
- 6:03Speaker 2: know how to calm people down when they when it's
- 6:05Speaker 2: a conflict that your school is something, they come to you,
- 6:08Speaker 2: All your friends come to you.
- 6:09Speaker 1: They problem.
- 6:10Speaker 2: There's a gift and the talent. You have to identify
- 6:12Speaker 2: what that is. Now, if you take that gift and
- 6:15Speaker 2: talent that you are born with and you marry it
- 6:18Speaker 2: into your dream, you put those two in the dream.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's the number one thing. And here's a deal. You
- 6:25Speaker 2: can never give up on the dream. I don't care
- 6:30Speaker 2: how old you are. There's a scripture that says a
- 6:35Speaker 2: man without a dream or vision shall perish. Think about this.
- 6:39Speaker 2: If you've given up on your dream, don't it feel
- 6:42Speaker 2: like you're going nowhere? You have a wake up in
- 6:45Speaker 2: the morning and just go, Man, this can't be all
- 6:47Speaker 2: to it. It's got to be more to it than this.
- 6:50Speaker 2: That's that seed, that dream, that talent, that gift that's
- 6:54Speaker 2: in you, that needs watering and nurturing and fertilize it
- 6:57Speaker 2: to come out and grow. But you got idem five. Man,
- 7:01Speaker 2: Come on, and you can't give up on your dream
- 7:03Speaker 2: because now you got just the job that's helping you
- 7:05Speaker 2: pay these bills. And now you locked into the system
- 7:08Speaker 2: where paying the bills is so critical and living expenses
- 7:11Speaker 2: on top of you that you got to keep going
- 7:12Speaker 2: to this job.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So now you give up on your dreams. That ain't
- 7:15Speaker 1: how this thing work. Man.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You can't ever give up on the dream. It's gonna
- 7:21Speaker 2: be a sacrifice to do that. To follow your dream,
- 7:23Speaker 2: You're gonna have to let something go. That's the scary part.
- 7:27Speaker 2: That's the part where people don't want to let go
- 7:29Speaker 2: of the peanut to get the fruit, So you hang
- 7:31Speaker 2: on to your peanut. Now, the fruit out there, it's melons, grapes, bananas, pineapples,
- 7:36Speaker 2: it's out fruit is out there, But you're so busy
- 7:39Speaker 2: hanging on to this peanut, that job that has got
- 7:42Speaker 2: you locked in, and you can't go out there and
- 7:44Speaker 2: enjoy the fruits of your life. You have to make
- 7:46Speaker 2: a decision. A decision is based on your dream and
- 7:49Speaker 2: your gift. If you tie those two together, why not
- 7:51Speaker 2: take a shot at it. I mean, what you're waiting on.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Everything I tell you is faith based, so remember that too.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Now you got to take your faith along. But it
- 7:58Speaker 2: starts with the dream.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
