- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark.

- 0:21Speaker 1: Do I have my smooth talk radio voice?
- 0:26Speaker 2: You definitely do.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm trying to come in calm. We have a lot
- 0:30Speaker 1: of episodes to record today, trying to keep the voice
- 0:34Speaker 1: palatable to the listeners. Today we will be discussing time
- 0:38Speaker 1: for him to come home for Christmas Tyler Hine's second
- 0:42Speaker 1: movie of the season, before we get into that. You
- 0:46Speaker 1: can find us all over the place outside of the podcast.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Our main Instagram account is at Megan and Wendy, but
- 0:53Speaker 1: we do have a Hallmark Instagram account and it is
- 0:55Speaker 1: at Girls Gone Hallmark that we would love for you
- 0:57Speaker 1: to check out. Yes please, I mean I run that
- 1:03Speaker 1: account mostly, Megan runs our other one, so it's just fun.

- 1:25Speaker 2: With us too.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Just let someone in about four minutes ago, did you
- 1:28Speaker 1: I did?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Welcome and you can also email us Megan and Wendy
- 1:32Speaker 3: at gmail dot com. I love to read your emails.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I want to know what you think about these reviews.
- 1:38Speaker 3: What do you think about these movies? Because you know,
- 1:41Speaker 3: everyone is a critic, right, they just don't have a
- 1:45Speaker 3: platform to share it on, and so we say, hey,
- 1:49Speaker 3: write to us, We'll share your reviews with our listeners.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Cool.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Do you want to talk about some ratings news about
- 1:57Speaker 1: these recent movies?
- 1:57Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:59Speaker 3: First, Haul Out the Holly had three point two eight
- 2:03Speaker 3: seven million live viewers when that movie premiered. What day
- 2:08Speaker 3: was that Friday?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Saturday? I can't even remember. There's been so many movies.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yes, so it had like great viewing numbers. It didn't
- 2:17Speaker 3: quite reach the Three Wise Men level of viewers, but
- 2:21Speaker 3: it was right there.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And interestingly enough, although it didn't beat their viewership numbers,
- 2:27Speaker 1: it did beat their share of the demographic. They had
- 2:31Speaker 1: thirty nine percent of the eighteen to forty nine demo.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Where's Three Wise Men only had thirty one percent.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We're talking fractions of numbers here, Sure, I wonder what
- 2:40Speaker 3: that actually equates too.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It was a success, no matter how you slice.
- 2:45Speaker 3: It, Yes it was. I also read this morning two
- 2:50Speaker 3: things Lifetimes movies are doing real bad. Apparently I haven't
- 2:55Speaker 3: watched any of them, to be quite honest, watched Mary Swift,
- 3:00Speaker 3: Miss I did, and it wasn't that great.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I have the Kelsey Grammar and Spencer Grammar movie record it.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's a It's a Christmas Carol.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Another one, yeah, another one.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We haven't watched yet, but it is. It is sitting
- 3:17Speaker 1: there waiting for me. They are not doing well.
- 3:20Speaker 2: They're not doing well.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you tell me, great American family not doing well?
- 3:24Speaker 1: And I think they had. They were really riding on
- 3:27Speaker 1: Candice Cameron Very's release Thanksgiving weekend. She promoted it all
- 3:33Speaker 1: over her social media. She by the way, has five
- 3:35Speaker 1: point six million followers. It had four hundred and sixty
- 3:39Speaker 1: two thousand viewers, which is less than ten percent of
- 3:41Speaker 1: her five point six million followers. Didn't break the million mark.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's not the number they're hoping for. I really don't
- 3:50Speaker 1: know how long this channel is going to be able
- 3:53Speaker 1: to sustain itself financially.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Okay, but then what you know what I mean it
- 3:58Speaker 3: no where do those acts go? Are they gonna come
- 4:01Speaker 3: back to Hallmark? Will Hallmark welcome them back?
- 4:05Speaker 2: What do you think is gonna happen?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Some of those who have just left quietly and aren't
- 4:11Speaker 1: out here talking about how Hallmark is too progressive? May
- 4:15Speaker 1: come back? Are they gonna let Candace Cameron beret back
- 4:19Speaker 1: after she made a big statement that she didn't think
- 4:22Speaker 1: Hallmark was headed in the right direction. I certainly hope not.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I hope not either.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I can't imagine, but I can also imagine, like Candace
- 4:29Speaker 3: Cameron Beurret starting her own channel network. Yeah, production company,
- 4:36Speaker 3: she does have her own production company. It's called Candy Rock,
- 4:39Speaker 3: But can you see her like there's got to be
- 4:42Speaker 3: like a network out there that would let her put
- 4:47Speaker 3: her stuff out all the time.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Quite frankly, I don't really care, m Okay.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I mean like I care from the perspective of a
- 4:56Speaker 1: Hallmark movie reviewer, But I'm.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Not like, oh poor Candace.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Oh, and I know you're not saying that either, Okay,
- 5:03Speaker 1: I think you reap what you sew.
- 5:05Speaker 2: That's right.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Well, we'll see shall all play out, and I will
- 5:09Speaker 3: sit here and watch it with my bucket of popcorn,
- 5:12Speaker 3: but not watch their movies. But not watch their movies, No,
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'm just gonna read about it on the drama channels
- 5:18Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah online, same, let's talk. Time for him to come
- 5:23Speaker 1: Home for Christmas.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you already that with the title of
- 5:26Speaker 3: this movie, I'm gonna have a real hard time writing
- 5:28Speaker 3: show notes about it. The title is going to be
- 5:30Speaker 3: too long for our post title. You are right, all right,
- 5:35Speaker 3: news and notes? What do you got?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Let's do a synopsis first?
- 5:39Speaker 3: Oh yes, okay, I forget every Time premier on Saturday,
- 5:42Speaker 3: November twenty six. Time for Him to Come Home for
- 5:45Speaker 3: Christmas is about the following. Four days before Christmas, Elizabeth
- 5:50Speaker 3: receives a voicemail from a number she doesn't recognize. On
- 5:54Speaker 3: the message, a man she doesn't know makes one final
- 5:58Speaker 3: plea to the love of his life starring Holland Roden
- 6:03Speaker 3: Tyler Hines to Neil Towns from executive producer Blake Shelton.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Bah, you know.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I'm not a fan of Blake Shelton. I never have been,
- 6:14Speaker 3: and like, I use backstory. I love Gwen Stefani and
- 6:19Speaker 3: the band No Doubt, and when she and him got together, I.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Was like, no, I just he creeps me out. I'm
- 6:29Speaker 1: not a big fan either. That's not a selling point
- 6:31Speaker 1: for me.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I did read some reviews.
- 6:32Speaker 1: They were like, I saw this was produced by Blake
- 6:35Speaker 1: and that made me watch it. And you know, good
- 6:37Speaker 1: for Hallmark that that works for them. That's not the
- 6:39Speaker 1: selling point for me. We all know what the selling
- 6:41Speaker 1: point for me in this movie was. It was Tyler Hines.
- 6:44Speaker 1: This was filmed in mid July and early August in Vancouver, Canada.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Check right, at least.
- 6:53Speaker 1: That one could be on the Bengo card. Oh, that's
- 6:56Speaker 1: a good idea. That is a really good idea.
- 6:58Speaker 3: This is the fifth movie in staf for the Time
- 7:01Speaker 3: for franchise. The first one was released in twenty eighteen,
- 7:05Speaker 3: based on the book called Time for Me to Come Home,
- 7:09Speaker 3: written by Dorothy Shackelford, who is the mom of Blake Shelton.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Now I'm unclear if Shelton's production company produced all five
- 7:21Speaker 3: of these movies. I tried to look. I did a
- 7:25Speaker 3: deep dive. I was only coming up with old articles.
- 7:28Speaker 3: So I don't know if he's done every single one
- 7:31Speaker 3: of them or this just this one, or what did
- 7:37Speaker 3: you find anything?
- 7:38Speaker 1: He himself is a producer on all five movies. I
- 7:41Speaker 1: understand that that doesn't actually answer your question, but he
- 7:44Speaker 1: was attached to all five movies.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Okay, Steve, do you think it's basic that is so
- 7:50Speaker 3: funny that you mentioned that. I think it is basic.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:53Speaker 1: He plays Carter in this movie. He has one hundred
- 7:56Speaker 1: fifty six acting credits, including the Hallmark movie Love Classified.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Dude's brazy.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:03Speaker 3: First of all, I don't remember him in Love Classified.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I love that movie from this year. I thought he
- 8:09Speaker 3: looked a lot like Denise Richards's husband.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Oh oh, I will I want you to google it
- 8:17Speaker 1: right now, but I will put a picture in our
- 8:19Speaker 1: show notes.
- 8:20Speaker 2: You know you're not wrong. Thank you very much.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Well, Denise Richard's husband shoots a lot of her OnlyFans content.
- 8:28Speaker 1: He knows what guy's like. That's the first article that
- 8:30Speaker 1: came up. By the way, gross gross, gross gross. And
- 8:33Speaker 1: this was written by Marcy Holland, who wrote four of
- 8:35Speaker 1: the Time to Come Home.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Movies directed by David Winning, who has directed a ton
- 8:41Speaker 3: of Hallmark movies, including last year's The Nine Kittens of Christmas.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Kimberly Sasdad, I'm still gonna come and watch it now
- 8:48Speaker 3: that I like you so much, you me and the
- 8:50Speaker 3: Christmas Tree, which was a Julie Sherman wolf movie, and
- 8:53Speaker 3: The Twenty seven Hour Day, which I remember really liking.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And indeed he also directed the twenty eighteen movie and
- 9:01Speaker 3: the twenty twenty movie Like Under This franchise, so he's
- 9:05Speaker 3: done three.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Of the five.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Allan Rodin, who co stars alongside Tyler Hines. This appears
- 9:11Speaker 1: to be her first Hallmark movie. I think she fits
- 9:14Speaker 1: right in. Among her acting credits, she starred in one
- 9:17Speaker 1: hundred episodes of Teen Wolf, and the most remarkable thing
- 9:20Speaker 1: about that to me is that there were one hundred
- 9:22Speaker 1: episodes of the series Teen Wolf.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I know. But I also saw on her IMDb that
- 9:27Speaker 3: there was a teen Wolf movie that was like in
- 9:29Speaker 3: pre production right now.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Butho, that's a tim TV series.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I thought, oh was it? I felt like, you guys
- 9:36Speaker 3: watched that.
- 9:36Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no, no no no. We watched
- 9:39Speaker 1: the original with Michael J.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Fox. How's that hold up?
- 9:43Speaker 3: It's silly, you know, he's a teen Wolf. I love
- 9:47Speaker 3: Michael J.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Fox.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Me.
- 9:48Speaker 3: One final note Tyler Hines. Obviously, this was his fourteenth
- 9:55Speaker 3: movie with the Hallmark Channel, I think, and let me
- 9:59Speaker 3: tell you why, because the last article I found was
- 10:03Speaker 3: from earlier this year. And Always am More, which a
- 10:07Speaker 3: debut in spring twenty twenty two, was his twelfth movie,
- 10:11Speaker 3: and so math tells me this is his fourteenth. You know,
- 10:15Speaker 3: he's went to movies for Christmas, So we're at number fourteen. Okay,
- 10:20Speaker 3: so first impressions.
- 10:22Speaker 1: My first impression is literally gasped when I realized the
- 10:26Speaker 1: surprise twist. Really wait, don't wait, don't shut on each
- 10:34Speaker 1: other's first impressions unwritten rule. Well, okay, I guess so
- 10:41Speaker 1: that he was the driver of the car that killed
- 10:44Speaker 1: their best friend.
- 10:45Speaker 3: No, I didn't, but I didn't gasp out loud. We'll
- 10:48Speaker 3: talk about it.
- 10:49Speaker 2: There was some.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Plot holes, and it was a little bit confusing at times. Okay,
- 10:54Speaker 3: A lot of that comes up in my wish for categories.
- 10:57Speaker 3: So my first impression is I'm starting a petition that
- 11:02Speaker 3: Tyler Hines has a candy cane as a prop in every.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Single movie from here on out.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Yes, I think I guessed out loud when she turned
- 11:12Speaker 3: around and he was standing there with that candy cane
- 11:14Speaker 3: hanging out of his head.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I will be the first signature on that petition.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Mm hmmm. What do we like about this movie?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Can I just say that I when I watched it,
- 11:24Speaker 3: and when I finished watching it, I thought I really
- 11:27Speaker 3: liked it. But then when I started doing all my notes,
- 11:31Speaker 3: I was like my rating kept going further and further down. Wow,
- 11:37Speaker 3: let me say what I liked. I I really liked
- 11:40Speaker 3: that this was a mystery. Yes, it was on the
- 11:43Speaker 3: Hallmark Movies and Mystery Channel. I mean there was a
- 11:47Speaker 3: little bit of love story, because you said every Christmas
- 11:50Speaker 3: movie has a love story in it. But I liked
- 11:53Speaker 3: that I was invested in finding out, like who this
- 11:56Speaker 3: guy was and what happened with their friend and like
- 11:59Speaker 3: blah blah blah. So I liked that aspect of it.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I also really liked Holland Rodin too.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Is she the prettiest person you've ever seen?
- 12:07Speaker 3: Oh? My god, so pretty great hair? Yeah?
- 12:11Speaker 2: I liked her a lot.
- 12:12Speaker 3: And I would say yes more, yes, please put her
- 12:15Speaker 3: in more Hallmark movies.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Tell me what you liked.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Well, unlike another movie that we talked about this week
- 12:20Speaker 1: that shall remain nameless for this episode, I think this
- 12:23Speaker 1: movie pulls off the romance well. I think it was
- 12:28Speaker 1: important to the storyline. It improved the storyline, it advanced
- 12:32Speaker 1: the storyline. I liked the romance. I believed them as
- 12:37Speaker 1: great friends who cared for each other. I believed in
- 12:41Speaker 1: them as a romantic connection, that they had a lot
- 12:46Speaker 1: of chemistry on screen anything else. I loved the ongoing Mystery,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I loved Okay, Comber Holland Rodin. And that's the end
- 12:53Speaker 1: of my list, all right.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I mean, there were some good things to like about it, right,
- 12:58Speaker 3: I actually really liked the movie. I'm telling you. I
- 13:02Speaker 3: didn't hate it. I liked it. There was just things
- 13:04Speaker 3: wrong with it.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Okay, let's talk.
- 13:06Speaker 3: About what we wished for.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 13:08Speaker 3: At one point in the movie it got too confusing
- 13:11Speaker 3: for me. Now, maybe it's because I'm watching it on
- 13:15Speaker 3: my phone while getting ready, or maybe I wasn't paying
- 13:19Speaker 3: that close attention. All right, so part of it might
- 13:22Speaker 3: be on me, But it gets a little confusing when
- 13:25Speaker 3: the whole they finally get to Madeleine and she plays
- 13:29Speaker 3: the message for Madeleine, and then Madelene says, you said
- 13:33Speaker 3: your name was Elizabeth. I have a call for you too.
- 13:36Speaker 3: It's like Madelene doesn't recognize Carter's voice in the voicemail
- 13:42Speaker 3: that he leaves mistakenly for Elizabeth.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, good point.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I mean, she practically falls into a pool of tears
- 13:49Speaker 3: when she hears the message he leaves for her on
- 13:53Speaker 3: Elizabeth's voicemail. But she didn't recognize that that's the love
- 13:56Speaker 3: of her life on the phone. Do you know what
- 13:58Speaker 3: I mean?
- 13:59Speaker 1: Well, Devil's advocate here. Maybe she recognizes his voice, but
- 14:04Speaker 1: since he's not reaching out to her, she doesn't think
- 14:08Speaker 1: he's interested in reconnecting with her.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Madealie think my old former flame left a voicemail for
- 14:16Speaker 3: somebody named Elizabeth on my phone.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I don't know, and I agree that that is confusing,
- 14:21Speaker 1: that there's no resolution to her feelings about getting this message.
- 14:26Speaker 1: But in Madeline's shoes, he had accidentally called you and
- 14:30Speaker 1: left a voicemail.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Which how does that happen?
- 14:32Speaker 1: Because he's gonna hear your voice on your outgoing voicemail message?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Right, good point, he doesn't. You're telling me this is
- 14:43Speaker 3: such a good point. You're telling me that Elizabeth's voicemail
- 14:46Speaker 3: message doesn't say Hi, this is Elizabeth Athens, I'm not
- 14:50Speaker 3: home or whatever.
- 14:51Speaker 2: You know, I'm not home.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Please leave your name and number after the beep. But yes,
- 15:00Speaker 3: these voicemails, the outgoing message has to have their name
- 15:03Speaker 3: in them.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Right now, are we.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Just two gen x that we don't realize that the
- 15:07Speaker 1: youths don't have an outgoing message on their voicemail because
- 15:10Speaker 1: nobody leaves a voicemail what what?
- 15:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Now, my son, who's the only young person I call,
- 15:17Speaker 1: has an outgoing message.
- 15:18Speaker 2: That this is the saying.
- 15:19Speaker 3: It says, Hi, this is so and so and lead message.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Did your daughter have an outgoing message on her voicemail?
- 15:24Speaker 3: You know what? I don't know. I'm gonna have to
- 15:27Speaker 3: call it later and find out.
- 15:28Speaker 2: It might just be.
- 15:29Speaker 3: The the you know, like the standard default message.
- 15:34Speaker 1: She's trying to reach is unavailable.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Please, Yes, I agree with you. That doesn't hold up.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I do think if her voice recognition on his end notwithstanding,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I do think there's a place in which she could
- 15:45Speaker 1: receive this message and think, Wow, he's finally reaching out
- 15:48Speaker 1: to this person for some closure. I'm really disappointed that
- 15:52Speaker 1: he didn't also reach out to me, but I am
- 15:55Speaker 1: glad that he's moving forward.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yes, but Madeline didn't put two and two together, Like
- 16:00Speaker 3: she didn't know that Elizabeth was in the car crash. Right,
- 16:03Speaker 3: hmmmmm no, correct, So you're seeing her I hear you
- 16:09Speaker 3: plat holes.
- 16:10Speaker 1: You know. There's a weird scene with Tyler Hines. He's
- 16:13Speaker 1: talking to his sister. He thinks Elizabeth has told him
- 16:16Speaker 1: that she's still in love with her other friend. And
- 16:21Speaker 1: he appears to be having a drink and he says,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna go get another beverage. Yes, And he walks
- 16:26Speaker 1: over to the bar and he goes, I'll have a water,
- 16:30Speaker 1: And it was almost like he was conflicted about it.
- 16:33Speaker 1: M hmmm, like he was just like, I'm going to
- 16:35Speaker 1: get drunk and then decides against it.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And I the only reason I.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Notice it is because we don't know what is going
- 16:45Speaker 1: on with Carter until the end. We don't know what
- 16:48Speaker 1: the big moment in his life, the way in which
- 16:50Speaker 1: he feels like he has disappointed people. And I almost
- 16:53Speaker 1: felt like it was giving me the vibes of like.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He's in recovery.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Oh, I don't like, you know, I drank too much
- 17:04Speaker 1: and I disappointed people a right whenever the case. So
- 17:07Speaker 1: I don't know, but I thought that would They didn't
- 17:09Speaker 1: really address that moment with Tyler. I wasn't fully sure
- 17:13Speaker 1: how I was supposed to feel about that.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I do you know exactly what saying you were
- 17:18Speaker 3: talking about? And thought it was interesting that he was
- 17:21Speaker 3: like drinking a like it looked like it was like
- 17:23Speaker 3: a cocktail of some sort or like a glass of whiskey.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Or something like a brown beverage.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yeaheah, and he's like, I'm gonna go get another you're right,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and then he has like this second thought of like, oh,
- 17:36Speaker 3: I'll just take a water. Yeah, I know. I wish
- 17:38Speaker 3: that was more fleshed out.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I guess okay, Well, I think this particular plot point
- 17:45Speaker 1: was handled as well as it could be in the movie.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I personally don't enjoy a misunderstanding that gets carried on
- 17:53Speaker 1: for far too long.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 17:56Speaker 2: It's not my favorite. I don't like it in any movie.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Homemark uses it a lot.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Don't get in books.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And even when they have the conversation, what did you hear?
- 18:05Speaker 1: I heard everything? How do you feel?
- 18:07Speaker 2: I feel the same.
- 18:08Speaker 1: They're not talking about anything, and I don't think people
- 18:11Speaker 1: talk like that, and I find it frustrating to watch
- 18:16Speaker 1: a misunderstanding continue.
- 18:18Speaker 3: To carry I have that same note. I said that
- 18:21Speaker 3: they're falling back on old Hallmark habits.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Here with this.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I hate the misunderstanding. I can't stand it. It's frustrating
- 18:29Speaker 3: the watch. You're right, people don't talk like that. If
- 18:32Speaker 3: somebody was so vague, I'd be like, what are you
- 18:33Speaker 3: talking about? Like, yeah, Yeah, super frustrating.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Agree, And that's all.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It didn't occur to him ever that she could have
- 18:43Speaker 1: been talking about him.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I mean, like he just wants to assume she was
- 18:48Speaker 3: talking to the best friend. Yeah, and it wasn't even
- 18:51Speaker 3: like he overheard a part of their conversation and there
- 18:54Speaker 3: was a slight embrace, like a hug or a shoulder
- 18:57Speaker 3: touch or something like that.
- 18:58Speaker 2: So he's just going to assume.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Right that she was in love with that guy instead.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I wish we had would have had a little more
- 19:06Speaker 3: backstory about like the three friendships and like how closely
- 19:11Speaker 3: they were all related, you know what I mean. It's
- 19:14Speaker 3: kind of like the felicity Ben and Noel try and
- 19:17Speaker 3: give me some backstory, but I know that they don't
- 19:19Speaker 3: have enough time for that.
- 19:20Speaker 1: So do we ever find out why they didn't take
- 19:24Speaker 1: the job at the times together?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Simply because he didn't take it? So she doesn't do
- 19:28Speaker 2: we find out why he doesn't take it?
- 19:30Speaker 3: Never?
- 19:31Speaker 1: He just doesn't take it, and so she's like, hum,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I'm not gonna take it either.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Well, I was like to work for her mom.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Were they hired as like a investigative team?
- 19:41Speaker 1: You know?
- 19:41Speaker 3: There there was a mention of like a what they say.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Woodward and Bernstein.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm like, did the Times hire them as
- 19:49Speaker 3: some team and then he bounced or.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Well, she says at one point, like he finds out
- 19:55Speaker 1: She's like, no, I didn't take that job.
- 19:57Speaker 2: So I guess he doesn't.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Even know that she didn't take it. The plot holes abound.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Blake Shelton's, Blake Shelton. It's all your fault, Blake Shelton.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Stop living the life on the voice and fix your movie.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Speaking of which I need less singing. I almost never
- 20:13Speaker 1: need an entire song in a movie.
- 20:15Speaker 2: To Neil Towns.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I think she's very talented, she's lovely, great welcome.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I don't need three minutes of her singing. I don't
- 20:22Speaker 1: need of anyone singing in any movie ever. Really give
- 20:27Speaker 1: me someone that I want to see sing on stage.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I don't know, there's nothing that's coming to mind right now, eh.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I was like tuned out, fast forward, No, thank you.
- 20:39Speaker 3: It feels like product placement.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yes you know, yes it's.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Not your Balsam Hill Tree, but it's our new and
- 20:47Speaker 3: upcoming country singer.
- 20:49Speaker 2: She's on the label.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I was, she on the voice.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Do we know. Did you wish for anything else? No? Cool?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Are you ready for dig you see that? Yes?
- 21:02Speaker 3: And I have several?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh I only have one. They're mostly complaints. Oh I
- 21:07Speaker 2: have an actual digit? See that? Oh? Okay. In the
- 21:11Speaker 2: gift shop.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Where they're looking for the snow globe, Elizabeth's mom walks
- 21:16Speaker 1: in and she picks up a book and the book
- 21:18Speaker 1: is called A Christmas to Remember. Christmas to Remember is
- 21:21Speaker 1: in fact a Hallmark movie that starred Steve Basic, who
- 21:24Speaker 1: plays Carter Bishop in this movie.
- 21:26Speaker 3: That's funny. Okay, let me start with my complaints. The
- 21:30Speaker 3: three friends are talking on the porch. This is at
- 21:33Speaker 3: the beginning of the movie, right, and they're talking about
- 21:37Speaker 3: how they got this new job at the New York
- 21:39Speaker 3: Times as soon as they graduate college. Are you to
- 21:41Speaker 3: tell me that Holland Roden and Tyler Hines have just
- 21:45Speaker 3: graduated from college. I? Yes, they are both thirty six
- 21:51Speaker 3: years old.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I'm just wondering.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I was assuming she was younger than he was, so
- 21:56Speaker 1: did I. And they don't do anything to make them
- 21:58Speaker 1: look younger either in that moment.
- 21:59Speaker 2: No shave off.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Your beard, dude, Like I mean, film that scene last
- 22:04Speaker 3: you know what I mean? So you can shave your
- 22:07Speaker 3: beard off, like, I'm sure it grows back in a
- 22:09Speaker 3: week and a half or whatever. But I'm and I'm like,
- 22:16Speaker 3: you guys don't look twenty two. No, And then I
- 22:20Speaker 3: was a little rub the wrong way because I thought
- 22:24Speaker 3: Holland Rowden looked very young compared to Tyler Hines. Yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 3: and I was like, are we pairing this guy with
- 22:30Speaker 3: this girl who is so young?
- 22:33Speaker 2: Right?
- 22:33Speaker 3: But then it turns out that they're actually both the
- 22:35Speaker 3: same age. That makes me feel better. That does make
- 22:38Speaker 3: me feel better too.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I really didn't want to put Tyler Hines in creepy
- 22:41Speaker 1: old dude category.
- 22:42Speaker 3: No, I was like, can we please just be the
- 22:45Speaker 3: same age and have like whatever anyway? But still, but still,
- 22:50Speaker 3: the movie fast forwards three years, right, so if they're
- 22:53Speaker 3: coming out of twelve, Tyler Hines does not look like
- 22:57Speaker 3: a twenty four or twenty five year old man. I
- 22:58Speaker 3: am sorry, as hot as he is does not live
- 23:02Speaker 3: twenty five?
- 23:03Speaker 2: Agree?
- 23:04Speaker 3: Okay? In the same scene, there is digital snow falling, yes,
- 23:10Speaker 3: and then they they look up and they're gonna wish
- 23:12Speaker 3: on a falling star. And I live in southern California.
- 23:15Speaker 3: But is it possible to be snowing and clear at
- 23:18Speaker 3: the same time that you can't see a star falling.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I mean it's a good point.
- 23:23Speaker 1: That's a good point. Does it snow need to fall
- 23:25Speaker 1: from a cloud?
- 23:26Speaker 2: I don't.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I mean it's rain, right, and it rains when it's cloudy,
- 23:31Speaker 3: and you can't usually can't usually see the sky when
- 23:34Speaker 3: it's raining.
- 23:35Speaker 1: So I think you're right, somebody, it's stupid that it's
- 23:41Speaker 1: gonna fall from something.
- 23:43Speaker 3: And the digital snow is put in post production, so
- 23:47Speaker 3: why didn't somebody go, oh, hey, that doesn't really.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Work with this. Yeah, I digital snow. It was bad
- 23:52Speaker 2: digital snow.
- 23:53Speaker 3: In this movie too, Yes, and I will I have
- 23:56Speaker 3: I have another note about the digital snow. At the
- 23:59Speaker 3: end they're outside and right before kissing, there is so
- 24:02Speaker 3: much digital snow that it's so distracting, like I can't
- 24:05Speaker 3: even see their faces. Yeah, it's big flakes. Not necessary?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, no, agree.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Uh this is taking me back, Like I really wanted
- 24:16Speaker 3: to like this movie and thought I was enjoying it,
- 24:18Speaker 3: but now I'm here picking it apart. This takes me
- 24:22Speaker 3: back to twenty twenty when I was like, oh I
- 24:25Speaker 3: hate this movie.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Woh oh this No, I think you need to rewatch
- 24:30Speaker 1: a twenty twenty movie.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Okay, all right, what else?
- 24:32Speaker 1: We're fast forward three years and Elizabeth gets to work,
- 24:37Speaker 1: right She's like getting out of a taxicab and she's like,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I'm running late.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I'm coming in right now.
- 24:42Speaker 3: And I'm like, who the hell takes taxis anymore? She's
- 24:46Speaker 3: supposed to be in Seattle. I'm sure there's an uber.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Around, you know.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I just was like, why are we using this old
- 24:52Speaker 3: timy like taxicab to drop somebody off? Like it just
- 24:55Speaker 3: doesn't make sense to me. Use a PA's car instead,
- 25:00Speaker 3: you know, like Honda Civic rolls in and she gets
- 25:02Speaker 3: out of the back.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Makes way more sense. In twenty twenty two onpecific reeking
- 25:07Speaker 2: of pot. Every time I get into an Oberman every time.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I know it's scary and here's my final thing. So
- 25:21Speaker 3: it's acting in the movie and Carter is watching Madeleine
- 25:26Speaker 3: play like guitar for the country singer oh yeah, and
- 25:31Speaker 3: he like steps, He's like backstage, he steps right in
- 25:35Speaker 3: front of a cameraman that's filming in the concert, like
- 25:37Speaker 3: his big old head just completely covers the camera. And
- 25:42Speaker 3: then like in the next shot you see like the
- 25:43Speaker 3: camera man's like over his shoulder instead. But here's my
- 25:47Speaker 3: biggest beef with that whole scene. How did this all
- 25:51Speaker 3: happen in one night? Matt is first backstage when Elizabeth
- 25:55Speaker 3: and Josh find her, right, she's getting ready for the show.
- 25:57Speaker 3: She is opening. It made it sound like she was
- 26:00Speaker 3: opening for this country singer. Yes, and then the next
- 26:03Speaker 3: scene she's reuniting with Carter at the diner, and then
- 26:07Speaker 3: the next scene after that she's back at the concert
- 26:09Speaker 3: plane in the backup band.
- 26:11Speaker 1: How long was the break between sets that that could happen?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yes, agreed? Maybe mad? Maybe so mad.
- 26:18Speaker 1: It's so funny because I like this movie. Lest now
- 26:21Speaker 1: that we talked to me, I told you, I told you,
- 26:24Speaker 1: But in the moment watching it, I actually really liked
- 26:27Speaker 1: it and me too. That is what my rating is
- 26:30Speaker 1: based upon. Are you ready to rate this?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Sure? Oh I'm so nervous. What did you give it?
- 26:35Speaker 3: I still gave it three stars?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Three stars?
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yes, crime has been committed four point twenty five stars.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Absolutely not, Oh my god, stand by it. I had
- 26:54Speaker 1: a higher rating and even changed it three stars.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I thought you were I thought you were gonna come
- 27:04Speaker 3: in with like a two and a half star that
- 27:06Speaker 3: I had given it to him a rating. No, it's
- 27:09Speaker 3: been a long time since we've like rated so so oppositely.
- 27:13Speaker 2: It really has. Uh.
- 27:15Speaker 1: This is the third movie in our movie marathon this week.
- 27:19Speaker 2: We will be back tomorrow.
- 27:20Speaker 1: With Holiday Spectacular. Alright, have hair all over me? I
- 27:26Speaker 1: was distracted. We will be back tomorrow with a Holiday spectacular.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Before you go, we love your five star ratings and reviews.
- 27:32Speaker 1: In the Apple podcast app, we have a blog post
- 27:35Speaker 1: all about how to leave them if you would like
- 27:37Speaker 1: to learn how to do that.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Until tomorrow, Happy watching y'all.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Bye bye,
