  Speaker 3: I would say this she is an ex to me,

  Speaker 3: meaning like it was a real relationship. I've never never

  Speaker 3: in my life ever discounted or said now that was

  Speaker 3: just a show relationship. Like she her really, like our

  Speaker 3: relationship together is as real to me and would be

  Speaker 3: like if I said, Okay, I've dated so many people

  Speaker 3: in my life, like she would be one of the
• 0:46
  Speaker 3: top people I'd say had the most impact on me

  Speaker 3: when it comes to a romantic relationship.

  Speaker 4: Do you feel that show?

  Speaker 2: girls from your season or is it just Jojo and

  Speaker 3: It's uh, you know, I think all of them were unique.

  Speaker 3: Like they would be the two that stood out to

  Speaker 3: me if somebody asked me what two relationships like have

  Speaker 3: played the most role in your life or which ones

  Speaker 3: have you thought about the most, or which ones in

  Speaker 3: your single days where you like the what ifs of

  Speaker 3: it would be those two. Obviously, you know, Kayla and

  Speaker 3: I had something great and it was really special, but

  Speaker 3: it never reached the depth of the other two. Especially
• 1:30
  Speaker 3: I think the realization at the end where I was
• 1:33
  Speaker 3: a mess, Right, you send somebody home that I mean,

  Speaker 3: I really did love and I cared about and you're
• 1:38
  Speaker 3: watching them walk away and like your heart is breaking
• 1:40
  Speaker 3: and you feel like you just got out of a breakup,
• 1:43
  Speaker 3: yet you have to be happy and you know twenty
• 1:45
  Speaker 3: minutes when the next arrives, and it was hard for
• 1:47
  Speaker 3: me to do. I think that's for me where I
• 1:50
  Speaker 3: look back and I know it was real, and then
• 1:52
  Speaker 3: post show, as clarity came in and as time spent,

  Speaker 3: it was still that real to me. It's still I
• 1:59
  Speaker 3: remember that day and I still remember the pain that

  Speaker 3: was felt as I said, hey, I want you, I
• 2:06
  Speaker 3: wish the best for you, but that it isn't here.

  Speaker 3: And it was still the relationship too. After Lauren I
• 2:12
  Speaker 3: broke up that I looked back on and I said,
• 2:14
  Speaker 3: what if, What could I have done? Or what should
• 2:17
  Speaker 3: I have done? Or you know, there's just all those
• 2:19
  Speaker 3: questions and so talking to Jojo will be. I'm not nervous.

  Speaker 3: And there's a reason because Jojo and from what I
• 2:30
  Speaker 3: know about Jordan, I've met Jordan in person twice. Once
• 2:33
  Speaker 3: was really soon after our you know time on the
• 2:37
  Speaker 3: Bachelor and Bachelor at the other one was in an
• 2:39
  Speaker 3: airport that I'm sure we'll talk about with them, but
• 2:45
  Speaker 3: like he's great, I and JoJo's fantastic. Like, I'm not
• 2:48
  Speaker 3: nervous because I don't expect this to be a oh
• 2:51
  Speaker 3: my gosh, this is going to be super awkward. This
• 2:53
  Speaker 3: is going to be really hard. She's a great communicator.

  Speaker 3: She's very kind, but she's also very truthful, which you know,
• 3:01
  Speaker 3: I respect because if there is things that I did
• 3:04
  Speaker 3: or things that we look back on that we go

  Speaker 3: that wasn't awesome, I know she'll tell me and it

  Speaker 3: won't be this like I want to, you know, get
• 3:11
  Speaker 3: you moment. It's like, I know I'll tell you because
• 3:13
  Speaker 3: it hurt me, and that's good.

  Speaker 2: Do you have you two spoken in depth at all

  Speaker 2: since you left her on the show slash you know

  Speaker 2: the tell all?

  Speaker 3: And there's a reason. One is I would have loved
• 3:31
  Speaker 3: to h I think it. It was always something I
• 3:34
  Speaker 3: desired is to have some closure with Jojo because I
• 3:38
  Speaker 3: felt like, again it was a real relationship and it
• 3:40
  Speaker 3: needed some closure. Maybe on my end selfishly, I just
• 3:44
  Speaker 3: needed a chance to talk to her again. But I
• 3:46
  Speaker 3: was with Lauren following the show, and it wasn't you know,
• 3:50
  Speaker 3: it wasn't something that I was right or wise of
• 3:55
  Speaker 3: me to say, Hey, I need to call Jojo today,
• 3:57
  Speaker 3: I need to talk to her like that was never
• 4:00
  Speaker 3: something that I could do because we were working through
• 4:03
  Speaker 3: those same issues Lauren and I post show. So I've
• 4:06
  Speaker 3: never talked to Jojo in depth. I've never had a
• 4:09
  Speaker 3: conversation with her other than this running at the airport.

  Speaker 3: That's a super wild story that we'll you know, I'm
• 4:14
  Speaker 3: sure we'll bring up to them and give details in
• 4:16
  Speaker 3: during the podcast. But you know, that was a five
• 4:20
  Speaker 3: minute conversation and Jordan was right there and I wasn't like, Hey, Jojo,
• 4:23
  Speaker 3: I've had so much I want to tell you. You know,
• 4:26
  Speaker 3: I wasn't. Okay, so what we haven't talked. This will
• 4:28
  Speaker 3: be the first time, and there is a you know,
• 4:33
  Speaker 3: years have passed and our lives are in two incredible places,
• 4:38
  Speaker 3: but there is still that this is just a cool
• 4:40
  Speaker 3: person that I got to meet, and I don't want
• 4:43
  Speaker 3: there to be anything, but I don't want her to
• 4:47
  Speaker 3: know that I feel any way other than I've always
• 4:50
  Speaker 3: just like desperately dreamed of both of us doing really
• 4:54
  Speaker 3: well post show. You know, that's always been and that
• 4:58
  Speaker 3: might be the biggest what if coming off of the
• 5:01
  Speaker 3: Lauren relationship and kind of the thing was like, yeah,
• 5:03
  Speaker 3: but there was one human here that always wanted me
• 5:06
  Speaker 3: to thrive, and that was Jojo. She's never publicly she
• 5:09
  Speaker 3: had every opportunity to slam me, she had every opportunity
• 5:12
  Speaker 3: to make me hurt and to make me feel like
• 5:17
  Speaker 3: the bad guy, and she never once did uh. And
• 5:21
  Speaker 3: that's just speaking to her character and who she is
• 5:23
  Speaker 3: as a person, Like I've never doubted that Jojo has
• 5:26
  Speaker 3: my best interests, Like she wants what's best for me,
• 5:31
  Speaker 3: no matter what that looks like. And maybe that wasn't
• 5:34
  Speaker 3: shown on the show all the time. It was like
• 5:36
  Speaker 3: her just always wanting what's best for me, And that
• 5:40
  Speaker 3: was one of the coolest parts about, you know, having
• 5:43
  Speaker 3: her a part of a season. It's great to have
• 5:46
  Speaker 3: that person there, but it also was again the thing
• 5:48
  Speaker 3: that brought up the most what ifs of Wait, now
• 5:51
  Speaker 3: I'm off the show. Now I'm hurting, you know, and
• 5:56
  Speaker 3: there was somebody on that show that always made me
• 5:58
  Speaker 3: feel better.
• 5:59
  Speaker 4: What's going on.

  Speaker 2: One of the biggest moments in Bachelor history was the
• 6:04
  Speaker 2: fact that you were kind of the first to say
• 6:06
  Speaker 2: I love you to two different people. Of course we're
• 6:09
  Speaker 2: gonna have to broach this today. What do you predict
• 6:13
  Speaker 2: Jojo will say about you telling her that.
• 6:17
  Speaker 3: I think she'll know. I think she'll I think she'll say,
• 6:19
  Speaker 3: of course she did, Like, I don't think that was
• 6:21
  Speaker 3: every I don't think Jojo ever questioned how I felt
• 6:24
  Speaker 3: about her, at least I hope she didn't. And that
• 6:26
  Speaker 3: was also part of my reasoning back in the day. Again,
• 6:29
  Speaker 3: I've you know, said many times it probably wasn't wise
• 6:32
  Speaker 3: to communicate openly, but I had already gone that far
• 6:36
  Speaker 3: with her, Like the love you part was kind of
• 6:40
  Speaker 3: the icing on the cake or the hey, I finally
• 6:43
  Speaker 3: said it moment, But there were so many conversations that
• 6:45
  Speaker 3: I had already walked way far into with her on
• 6:49
  Speaker 3: what life could look like and what we could share together,
• 6:54
  Speaker 3: Like we were way passed, you know. I think it
• 6:56
  Speaker 3: was already assumed, and so I don't think she'll be
• 7:02
  Speaker 3: I don't think she'll be mad that I said it.
• 7:04
  Speaker 3: I think she'll just look back and like, if she's
• 7:08
  Speaker 3: reliving that time, say yeah, that that hurt. It was
• 7:12
  Speaker 3: it was so real to us, and that was a
• 7:14
  Speaker 3: it was a confusing twist because I knew you did.

  Speaker 3: Like that was the weirdest part about this thing was
• 7:20
  Speaker 3: I knew you did. I know you did, and then
• 7:23
  Speaker 3: you said goodbye to me, So yes, it hurt. I
• 7:26
  Speaker 3: think she'll say it hurt her, But also she'll look
• 7:28
  Speaker 3: at me and be like, what was that like for you? Like,
• 7:31
  Speaker 3: because you're saying goodbye to somebody I know you cared about,
• 7:34
  Speaker 3: And so I don't think there's anger. I don't think
• 7:35
  Speaker 3: there was ever any like resentment. I think it was
• 7:38
  Speaker 3: more just like what happened, Like what what was going on?
• 7:43
  Speaker 3: Because again, we never had closure. I never got the
• 7:44
  Speaker 3: opportunity to explain myself or to take a breath and
• 7:48
  Speaker 3: be like, yeah, but this is what's going on in
• 7:50
  Speaker 3: my life. But I don't think she'll be mad. It's
• 7:53
  Speaker 3: gonna be a it's it's a weird conversation because, uh,
• 7:58
  Speaker 3: you know, so many years have gone on and I
• 8:01
  Speaker 3: think we both look back on that and be like
• 8:03
  Speaker 3: that was a pivotal point in showing us like who
• 8:06
  Speaker 3: we wanted and what we wanted in a relationship. Like
• 8:09
  Speaker 3: you know, when I met Jessica, I met somebody that
• 8:12
  Speaker 3: has always desired what's best for me, supports me no
• 8:16
  Speaker 3: matter what, like has my back at every turn, and that,
• 8:22
  Speaker 3: you know, I learned, or at least I saw that
• 8:25
  Speaker 3: in Jojo and said, I want to find this in somebody,
• 8:28
  Speaker 3: you know, in my life. And then I found it
• 8:30
  Speaker 3: my wife in an incredible way, And and that's huge.
• 8:35
  Speaker 4: It just happened to come from a show.
• 8:47
  Speaker 2: Now, speaking of time past, it's been six years since
• 8:51
  Speaker 2: you be doing the show, and you have never had
• 8:55
  Speaker 2: this conversation with Jojo thus far, even with the platform.

  Speaker 2: Think that that Jordan possibly has something to do with that,
• 9:04
  Speaker 2: like he would feel awkward her talking to an ex publicly.

  Speaker 3: No, I don't think so, because I think they're very
• 9:10
  Speaker 3: confident in their relationship. Maybe at the beginning, I think
• 9:13
  Speaker 3: that was part of it. Maybe you know, when it
• 9:16
  Speaker 3: was all so fresh and new again, there were you know,
• 9:19
  Speaker 3: we ran into them right after kind of her time
• 9:23
  Speaker 3: on the bachelorrett I think it was too fresh, too new.
• 9:25
  Speaker 3: There's too much happening, and I don't think either of
• 9:27
  Speaker 3: us probably felt comfortable having that conversation now. Obviously, you know,
• 9:33
  Speaker 3: it's funny once you meet the love of your life,
• 9:37
  Speaker 3: your past loves, yes still significant and still meaningful and
• 9:41
  Speaker 3: still have taught you a lot, but the awkwardness goes
• 9:46
  Speaker 3: away because of the confidence and because of the season
• 9:49
  Speaker 3: that you're in with your partner, and so it's a
• 9:51
  Speaker 3: little easier I think now to sit down and have
• 9:54
  Speaker 3: this conversation and be like you remember when, like what
• 9:58
  Speaker 3: did that teach you? I think it is still fresh.

  Speaker 3: I think it would have been harder for us, and
• 10:03
  Speaker 3: especially you know if one of us had a partner,
• 10:06
  Speaker 3: I think it would have There would have just been
• 10:09
  Speaker 3: emotions and feelings probably still there, and so you're kind
• 10:13
  Speaker 3: of trying to navigate, what's how do we have this
• 10:15
  Speaker 3: conversation in a healthy way, knowing that we still care
• 10:17
  Speaker 3: so deeply about each other. But once you find your
• 10:19
  Speaker 3: forever person, I think that feeling matures into it. No,
• 10:25
  Speaker 3: I just I still think you're the best, and I
• 10:27
  Speaker 3: want to see you your life go so well and
• 10:30
  Speaker 3: I want to see you thrive, But I don't I'm
• 10:34
  Speaker 3: not worried about like feelings and romantic feelings coming back up,
• 10:38
  Speaker 3: you know, And I think that's I think that's probably
• 10:41
  Speaker 3: a healthier place for us to have these conversations. I
• 10:43
  Speaker 3: also think and people are like, why didn't you ever
• 10:46
  Speaker 3: have this conversation then in the last five years when
• 10:49
  Speaker 3: they were healthy and you were, you know, out of relationship.

  Speaker 3: Now on a podcast, I think the podcast is the
• 10:54
  Speaker 3: only platform that we would be able to have this
• 10:56
  Speaker 3: conversation because if not, it means me my in my
• 11:00
  Speaker 3: life now reaching out to Jojo, be like, hey, can
• 11:02
  Speaker 3: we talk like they were six years removed and seven
• 11:07
  Speaker 3: years removed or whatever it is, and I just feel
• 11:09
  Speaker 3: like we need to talk, Like I think that would
• 11:11
  Speaker 3: be weird, right, Yeah, the podcast gives us this platform
• 11:15
  Speaker 3: to have this conversation, be it publicly, but it makes
• 11:20
  Speaker 3: it less weird because there's a reason that we're having it.
• 11:23
  Speaker 2: Yeah. So that being said, Jess doesn't mind that you're
• 11:26
  Speaker 2: about to basically FaceTime with your ex for an hour.
• 11:30
  Speaker 3: If if well, I didn't tell her this morning because
• 11:33
  Speaker 3: we were running in circles around each other, But if
• 11:36
  Speaker 3: I was like, hey, I'm going to talk to Jojo today,
• 11:38
  Speaker 3: she'd be like okay, yeah, yeah, this is good luck
• 11:42
  Speaker 3: have fun, like go do it. I don't know, like
• 11:45
  Speaker 3: you know, again, I think in Jessica and I've been
• 11:49
  Speaker 3: very clear with each other about this, and like past
• 11:52
  Speaker 3: relationships are really good when they're really good, when you
• 11:55
  Speaker 3: look back on them with you know, with a smile
• 11:58
  Speaker 3: and with a that was awesome that I got to
• 12:00
  Speaker 3: spend this season of life with this person. They were
• 12:02
  Speaker 3: really great. But just like the wedding song we danced
• 12:07
  Speaker 3: to by Cody Johnson, the road led to Jessica, like
• 12:10
  Speaker 3: the road led to her, even all the ups and
• 12:12
  Speaker 3: downs and the heartbreaks and the good times and the
• 12:16
  Speaker 3: things that you know, maybe I wish I would have
• 12:17
  Speaker 3: done differently, that it all led to her. And because
• 12:22
  Speaker 3: of that, like no, Jessica would not have any any
• 12:29
  Speaker 3: issues with this. She'll probably listen and she'll be curious
• 12:33
  Speaker 3: because she's never watched the show. But anytime, you know,
• 12:38
  Speaker 3: and again going back to Jessica, when he wants best
• 12:40
  Speaker 3: for me. One of the coolest parts about my wife
• 12:42
  Speaker 3: is anytime I can have closure or healing to even
• 12:46
  Speaker 3: if it's not like haunting me and even if it's
• 12:48
  Speaker 3: not an everyday thing on my heart, like I don't
• 12:49
  Speaker 3: think about Jojo very often at all. She wants that
• 12:53
  Speaker 3: from me, Like she would say, take advantage of the
• 12:55
  Speaker 3: opportunity to have some closure and healing in your life
• 12:58
  Speaker 3: and to build rebuild a bridge that isn't broken but
• 13:03
  Speaker 3: just has been abandoned for many years, like close that.
• 13:06
  Speaker 3: It was the same thing when Chris, Lene and I
• 13:08
  Speaker 3: played in the golf tournament. You know, I think Lauren's amazing.
• 13:11
  Speaker 3: I want what's best for her. I want her to
• 13:14
  Speaker 3: thrive and do amazing things in life. And seeing her
• 13:19
  Speaker 3: husband and being able to hang out with him and
• 13:22
  Speaker 3: really like him in a way? Was this like closure
• 13:25
  Speaker 3: and healing for me to say, yes, she's doing great
• 13:28
  Speaker 3: and that's healthy for me, I think, I mean, I
• 13:30
  Speaker 3: think it's healthy for me now to say, Okay, it's
• 13:32
  Speaker 3: always great when a past relationship can be healed and
• 13:37
  Speaker 3: a past relationship can be respected and you can look
• 13:40
  Speaker 3: back on it and go, now, that was good.
• 13:42
  Speaker 2: Well, if this interview goes well, which I'm sure it will,

  Speaker 2: maybe Jojo, In, Jordan, Chris, and Lauren they'll all be
• 13:50
  Speaker 2: attending our next iHeart Retreat.
