- 1:21Speaker 1: three new projects on Prime Video, a comedy special, a documentary,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and a scripted show. We'll get into all that. We're
- 1:29Speaker 1: excited to welcome Canada's son, Mr. Tom Green.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Tom Green, it's your first day back in L.A. in
- 1:54Speaker 2: four years, did you say?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Feels good, actually. It's... Yeah, it was weird.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I just moved four years ago. It was kind of
- 2:02Speaker 3: a somewhat spontaneous decision. You know, when COVID happened, remember that?
- 2:07Speaker 3: And everything stopped. And all of a sudden, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 3: I've been touring and everybody stopped touring, right? At the beginning.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah, everything kind of just stopped.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember if it was just me that
- 2:20Speaker 3: stopped or did everyone stop?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Everyone stopped.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So about the first six months or so of that,
- 2:25Speaker 3: I was kind of, I'm going to do. And then
- 2:28Speaker 3: I just kind of realized I, well, I got this,
- 2:32Speaker 3: I was telling you about my van. I got this
- 2:33Speaker 3: van and I started going out into the desert and
- 2:35Speaker 3: making videos and stuff. Here and outside of LA? Just
- 2:39Speaker 3: outside LA. And I loved being out in the desert
- 2:42Speaker 3: so much and just waking up in the morning with
- 2:44Speaker 3: a cup of coffee and just looking at the sun
- 2:46Speaker 3: coming up over the mountains and just the peacefulness of that.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: It's out in the Mojave desert. That was like the
- 2:52Speaker 3: first day of the trip, I think four years ago.
- 2:54Speaker 3: And so then, uh, you know, I just decided to
- 2:56Speaker 3: sell my house. I'd been in my house for 18 years.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I sold my house and, uh, went back to Canada
- 3:01Speaker 3: and bought a farm near where my parents live. And, uh, just,
- 3:06Speaker 3: I can't believe four years went by, but yesterday was
- 3:08Speaker 3: the first day back in Los Angeles in the van.
- 3:11Speaker 3: We drove back down to the van. So I've been
- 3:12Speaker 3: touring with my fiance who you just met. I have
- 3:15Speaker 3: a fiance now. Went back to Canada. I've got a
- 3:17Speaker 3: fiance from Canada now.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, good choice.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And, uh, and we came back in the van and, uh,
- 3:23Speaker 3: and just drove into town yesterday. And, uh, it's pretty
- 3:27Speaker 3: weird because it's like, it feels like I, nothing's really, it,
- 3:30Speaker 3: it kind of makes you think about time. Time is weird,
- 3:33Speaker 3: you know, cause I went away for four years and
- 3:35Speaker 3: then you come back and I drove past my house
- 3:38Speaker 3: that I lived in for almost 20 years. And now
- 3:41Speaker 3: I'm staying in a hotel right down across from where
- 3:43Speaker 3: the house is. I can actually see the house from
- 3:45Speaker 3: the hotel room. I sort of did that on purpose
- 3:47Speaker 3: cause I thought it would be weird. And, um, and, uh,
- 3:52Speaker 3: I went to Arts Deli. I lived sort of in
- 3:55Speaker 3: the Studio City area here. And I went to Arts
- 3:57Speaker 3: Deli and got my same pastrami sandwich and my chicken
- 4:02Speaker 3: noodle soup. And I've been going to some of the
- 4:05Speaker 3: same restaurants, just been here for a day. And it
- 4:07Speaker 3: doesn't feel like it's been four years. It feels like
- 4:10Speaker 3: I actually... I'm driving here. Today, I was sort of almost...
- 4:15Speaker 3: Forgot that I didn't live here anymore. I kept thinking, oh,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I'll go back to my house after.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I don't live here anymore. So that's a strange thing.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But on the flip side, in the last four years,
- 4:25Speaker 3: I've got a farm, which I've now really settled into.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I've got these incredible animals, which are now I'm really
- 4:33Speaker 3: bonded with, this mule and this donkey and two horses
- 4:37Speaker 3: and chickens. And it's just like this. It's sort of
- 4:41Speaker 3: been an incredible, incredible journey the last four years. So, yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 3: it's been cool.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Was it something that you always wanted to have?
- 4:48Speaker 1: You feel like a farm– I guess every human kind
- 4:50Speaker 1: of maybe feels something like that. I'm going to get
- 4:52Speaker 1: a little bit of land. I'm going to get some animals.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Was it that or was it– No, it's weird because.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I never really imagined having a mule and riding a
- 5:01Speaker 3: mule every day. I didn't grow up with that. I
- 5:02Speaker 3: grew up in the suburbs of Ottawa, Canada. I'm outside
- 5:06Speaker 3: of Ottawa but.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And a mule is kind of like the El Camino
- 5:11Speaker 2: of horses in a way.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's very much the– You know what I'm saying? It's not,
- 5:15Speaker 1: it's not me saying, Hey, I'm going to get a horse.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It's like, I'm going to get a mule.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I sort of thought initially I thought it would be
- 5:22Speaker 3: kind of funny. And then the mule I happened to find,
- 5:25Speaker 3: find Fanny, uh, is her name and she's this beautiful mule.
- 5:29Speaker 3: She's this huge animal and, and that's Kia the donkey
- 5:33Speaker 3: in the background. And so, um, and so it's just
- 5:36Speaker 3: become this sort of amazing change, but yeah, I, um,
- 5:42Speaker 3: You know, initially I hadn't really thought of necessarily getting
- 5:47Speaker 3: a farm with a mule and all this stuff. But
- 5:48Speaker 3: I wanted to get a place that was kind of
- 5:50Speaker 3: in nature, really was. And then the farm happened to
- 5:54Speaker 3: have these old barns on it. And I thought it'd
- 5:55Speaker 3: be kind of cool to get a mule in those barns.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So I now am very much loving life up there.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I get up in the morning and I saddle her
- 6:05Speaker 3: up and ride off into the wilderness. It's pretty cool.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Really?
- 6:09Speaker 1: And that's never something that you wanted? That was never
- 6:11Speaker 1: like a thing of your whole life? Like, I want
- 6:13Speaker 1: to have this thing? It just kind of.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I always loved animals. I have my dog, Charlie,
- 6:19Speaker 3: and I've always enjoyed being outdoors. But, I mean, it
- 6:25Speaker 3: just kind of.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I know every once in a while, you know, sometimes
- 6:30Speaker 3: when an idea pops into your head and then you
- 6:32Speaker 3: just go with it and then all of a sudden
- 6:33Speaker 3: you've done it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 6:34Speaker 3: This is like that, except it sort of occurred to
- 6:36Speaker 3: me afterwards, you know, as I was doing it, I
- 6:38Speaker 3: was realizing, you know, I'm going to have this mule
- 6:40Speaker 3: for the rest of my life. You know, like they
- 6:42Speaker 3: live to be, donkeys live to be up to 40,
- 6:45Speaker 3: 50 years old.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Oh my God, really?
- 6:46Speaker 3: He is only three. So it's a lifelong commitment.
- 6:50Speaker 2: The donkey could live after you.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Absolutely. She probably will. But yeah, so it's, so, but it's,
- 6:56Speaker 3: you know, it's, I think maybe I was looking for
- 7:00Speaker 3: something that would kind of ground me, you know, give
- 7:02Speaker 3: me that home base that I needed. You know, this
- 7:04Speaker 3: is the first, this is the first time I've ever
- 7:06Speaker 3: lived somewhere where I know I'm going to be there
- 7:08Speaker 3: for the rest of my life.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I'm planting trees and I'm like, I'm thinking, oh, in
- 7:12Speaker 3: 20 years, I'm going to, that tree is going to be,
- 7:14Speaker 3: and these trees are going to be bigger. And I'm
- 7:15Speaker 3: kind of sort of plotting out things that way.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 1: That's interesting. I can totally relate with that and what
- 7:21Speaker 1: you're saying about LA. LA just feels like this kind of,
- 7:24Speaker 1: it's almost like LA doesn't have a memory in it.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It feels like, I don't know, other places, I think,
- 7:29Speaker 1: especially if it's a place that's a little more grounded,
- 7:31Speaker 1: it feels like, maybe more meaningful for some reason.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 3: It's, I mean, it's weird. I moved here, I moved
- 7:39Speaker 3: here when I was 28. I think it was 28
- 7:42Speaker 3: or 29 when I moved to LA. I'm 53 now. And, uh,
- 7:47Speaker 3: I mean, I, I loved it. I had a great
- 7:49Speaker 3: time here. I wasn't, wasn't leaving LA cause I didn't,
- 7:52Speaker 3: you know, like LA or anything. It was just, it
- 7:55Speaker 3: was more, I wanted to be close to my parents
- 7:56Speaker 3: and they're still doing good. And I wanted to be
- 7:59Speaker 3: close to family and stuff. And, but, um, But yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 3: it is a unique place for sure. People come here
- 8:08Speaker 3: from all over the world, pursue their dreams, and there's
- 8:12Speaker 3: sort of an energy there that's exciting. But as I
- 8:18Speaker 3: got a little older, I left when I was 50,
- 8:22Speaker 3: and not married, no kids, COVID happened. I'd been in
- 8:30Speaker 3: my house for 18 years, the real estate market went up.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I was like, oh, maybe I should sell it now
- 8:35Speaker 3: as opposed to five years ago, I wouldn't have wanted
- 8:38Speaker 3: to sell it. So there was a moment in time,
- 8:40Speaker 3: maybe I'll sell this place that I've been living in
- 8:43Speaker 3: for 20 years, waiting for the right moment to feel
- 8:46Speaker 3: like it was time to go. Because I don't know,
- 8:50Speaker 3: I kind of felt like I wanted to be back
- 8:54Speaker 3: where I grew up. I mean, you're not from here either.
- 8:57Speaker 3: So there's something... There's something very sort of, I guess,
- 9:04Speaker 3: deep that you feel when you're home, you know? I know,
- 9:07Speaker 3: I'm sure, you're from Tennessee.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm from Louisiana. I live in Tennessee now.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Louisiana, Louisiana.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But yeah, it gives you, yeah, there's a sense of like, yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 1: that you've been out of your soil for a long time,
- 9:17Speaker 1: you know, that you've kind of.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Like when you go back to Louisiana, you must feel like, oh,
- 9:21Speaker 3: now I'm at home, right? This home.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Oh, there's definitely a ton of nostalgia that I love,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know? I think it makes sense that a part
- 9:30Speaker 1: of you wants to kind of go back where you
- 9:31Speaker 1: came into the world at or be there, you know,
- 9:34Speaker 1: to be, see people that care about me, see that,
- 9:37Speaker 1: see people that I care about. I wonder if you've
- 9:39Speaker 1: gotten enough of the, like the adventure out of your
- 9:42Speaker 1: system in some ways, you can still have the adventure,
- 9:45Speaker 1: but just have it from there, you know? And I
- 9:47Speaker 1: think also the part, like you're saying about, this is
- 9:49Speaker 1: the first time you'd ever like planted plants.
- 9:52Speaker 2: You're like, I'll see these.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I've always felt like my life was very um transient
- 9:56Speaker 1: like i was just passing by i've never been the
- 9:59Speaker 1: type of guy to get like a lot of furniture
- 10:01Speaker 1: or artwork or anything i'm always just like i don't
- 10:04Speaker 1: know how long i'm going to be here and it's
- 10:05Speaker 1: always and here i'm in my 40s and it's still
- 10:07Speaker 1: like i still kind of operate like that but at
- 10:11Speaker 1: a certain point it's like yeah you want something that's
- 10:12Speaker 1: a little bit more settling um And if you found
- 10:15Speaker 1: a fiance, I'm sure that kind of helped a little bit.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Amanda's here. It's her first time in Los Angeles.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Nice. At least you get to be a host and
- 10:22Speaker 2: a tour guide. That's kind of nice.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Showing around my old hometown, my new old hometown.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And a camper too, dude. What was that about? Yeah.
- 10:30Speaker 3: So that's been pretty wild. So like, because when I
- 10:34Speaker 3: got this van, I kind of got pretty good at it,
- 10:37Speaker 3: like going to really remote places in the American Southwest,
- 10:42Speaker 3: particularly like in New Mexico and Zion?
- 10:46Speaker 2: You go to Zion?
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I went to Zion. I did camp in Zion,
- 10:49Speaker 3: but like there's this other kind of land called BLM land.
- 10:53Speaker 3: It's Bureau of Land Management land that is basically all
- 10:58Speaker 3: of the desert and land that is owned by the
- 11:01Speaker 3: US government. It's managed by the Bureau of Land Management
- 11:05Speaker 3: and they'll cut roads into the desert and they'll put
- 11:08Speaker 3: sort of campsite areas with fire pits and stuff. They
- 11:11Speaker 3: kind of keep it somewhat um, organized so that people
- 11:15Speaker 3: don't go driving all around the desert and trash in
- 11:17Speaker 3: the desert. They have these roads and stuff. So you
- 11:19Speaker 3: can get, I got this app, it's called, uh, Dirt, D-U-I-R-T.
- 11:23Speaker 3: It's like, it's basically an app that gives you all
- 11:25Speaker 3: the different locations of these sort of really obscure places
- 11:30Speaker 3: that are not even in national parks or anything.
- 11:32Speaker 2: D-U-I-R-T.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah. And so it kind of like, you find stuff
- 11:36Speaker 3: that is just unbelievable. Like, um, You know, I sort
- 11:41Speaker 3: of can't stop talking about it to people that don't
- 11:43Speaker 3: know about it, but like, I mean, you may know
- 11:44Speaker 3: about Chaco Canyon, but I'd never heard of it before.
- 11:47Speaker 3: It was, it's this, it's, it's in New Mexico. And
- 11:50Speaker 3: in fact, if you go to my last YouTube video
- 11:53Speaker 3: on my YouTube channel, that's just a video I shot
- 11:56Speaker 3: a couple of days ago. And you can scroll down
- 12:00Speaker 3: to like the second video, go to the second video.
- 12:02Speaker 3: This is Chaco Canyon. So this is like Native American
- 12:06Speaker 3: ruins that are essentially like built in the year 875.
- 12:12Speaker 3: It's like, you know, and it's like this, it's a city,
- 12:15Speaker 3: you know, it's like a city in the desert. Um,
- 12:17Speaker 3: and it's just out there in the middle of Northern
- 12:19Speaker 3: New Mexico. This is, this is Amanda, my fiance, Amanda.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And, uh.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 12:26Speaker 3: And we're just going around making these videos and, but
- 12:29Speaker 3: you'll see, like, look at this place. So it's like,
- 12:32Speaker 3: you know, everyone always talks about Machu Picchu in Peru
- 12:34Speaker 3: and they talk about all these incredible things in, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 3: ancient Mexico. you know, uh, you know, places, but like
- 12:41Speaker 3: the fact that you can just drive out of Albuquerque,
- 12:44Speaker 3: you know, drive North Albuquerque, you know, wow, this is there.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 3: This is there. And it's really remote. Like it's on
- 12:50Speaker 3: the Navajo nation, uh, uh, land. And so we just
- 12:55Speaker 3: were out there camping for four nights and, uh, exploring
- 12:59Speaker 3: and hiking off into this beautiful desert and, Um.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Getting some good rest out there. Do you get good
- 13:04Speaker 2: rest when you're out on the road?
- 13:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 2: God, that's nice. It's nice.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Just, it's quiet.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That's the tough thing to get, man.
- 13:10Speaker 3: It's cooking on the campfire and, and it's just been
- 13:13Speaker 3: a fun. And I enjoy photography, you know.
- 13:16Speaker 2: You're shooting this really, really well.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I got sort of lots of different cameras and stuff.
- 13:22Speaker 3: And I, uh, I like to kind of, uh, do that.
- 13:25Speaker 3: So it's, there's something about shooting out in the desert.
- 13:27Speaker 3: That's just so beautiful. Cause you have these long horizons and,
- 13:32Speaker 3: you know, big open spaces, but, and there's an energy
- 13:35Speaker 3: there that is just something that's hard to put your
- 13:37Speaker 3: finger on, but it just, you know, I always kind
- 13:39Speaker 3: of sort of, I never really kind of really maybe
- 13:44Speaker 3: didn't even believe in that when I was younger, when
- 13:46Speaker 3: people would talk about the energy and Sedona's got this energy,
- 13:50Speaker 3: but you know, I, I feel this energy out there.
- 13:52Speaker 3: That's just of the people that live there that built
- 13:54Speaker 3: that place. It's, it's, it's, and, and other places like it.
- 13:57Speaker 3: So it's kind of fun to go seek those places out,
- 13:59Speaker 3: you know?
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll meet a lot of women. You're like, I
- 14:01Speaker 2: never have a period when I'm in Sedona or whatever.
- 14:03Speaker 2: And you're like, well, that's... what are we talking? I'm
- 14:06Speaker 2: saying like, but there's some.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Crazy, you've met a lot of women that have said that.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I mean, I just think you meet a lot of
- 14:11Speaker 1: women who are, uh, you.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Know, a specific thing for a lot of people to
- 14:14Speaker 3: have said, but yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 1: A lot of women are keeping crystals in the wrong
- 14:18Speaker 1: places probably, you know, but yeah, you meet a lot
- 14:21Speaker 1: of people who are into that sort of thing. But
- 14:23Speaker 1: I think that's probably like, I mean the natives, it
- 14:25Speaker 1: always feels to me like the natives are probably so
- 14:27Speaker 1: in touch, more in touch with the earth and locked
- 14:29Speaker 1: in on like the feeling of like the best places
- 14:32Speaker 1: to be. That's why they love to be in. And like,
- 14:34Speaker 1: the Dakotas and in the Black Hills and stuff like that.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And so to be able to go to one of
- 14:38Speaker 1: those ruins, I bet, I bet there's still a lot
- 14:41Speaker 1: of like, just a lot of prehistoric or like native
- 14:45Speaker 1: connection that's just looking for souls to pass through, you know?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yeah. What you just said is like really interesting because
- 14:51Speaker 3: I was talking to basically an archaeologist the other day
- 14:54Speaker 3: and he said exactly what you just said. Like there's
- 14:57Speaker 3: this thing called intuitive archaeology where they go Cause there's
- 15:02Speaker 3: still stuff out in the desert that people haven't even
- 15:05Speaker 3: found yet. Like it's, that's how big it is and
- 15:07Speaker 3: how vast it is. And so they go out into
- 15:10Speaker 3: these canyons and Northern Arizona and Utah looking for signs of,
- 15:16Speaker 3: you know, ancient settlements and stuff. And, uh, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 3: they're sort of taught to intuitive archeology. If you're in
- 15:23Speaker 3: a place that feels like it would be a nice
- 15:25Speaker 3: place to have lived, you know, a beautiful place.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:30Speaker 3: There's a good chance. that feeling is correct. And then
- 15:33Speaker 3: you should sort of listen to that instinct and start
- 15:36Speaker 3: looking for signs of ancient civilization. But it's pretty amazing
- 15:42Speaker 3: because you do feel something out there. I don't know.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I was talking about this friend the other day too. Like,
- 15:50Speaker 3: you ever go in like an old comedy club that's been,
- 15:53Speaker 3: you know, like Zany's in Nashville or Downtown Chicago is
- 15:58Speaker 3: an old club, you know, and you see all the
- 16:00Speaker 3: old pictures from the comics from back in the 70s
- 16:04Speaker 3: and 80s. And it's, you know, that club's been there forever.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And you kind of feel the energy of, you see
- 16:11Speaker 3: a lot of comics that have passed away on the wall.
- 16:13Speaker 3: And you say, oh, my God, Sam Kinison performed here.
- 16:15Speaker 3: You know, I can sort of feel that energy of
- 16:19Speaker 3: the performance in the room, you know. So, you know,
- 16:24Speaker 3: that's from 45. years ago or whatever. But now you
- 16:28Speaker 3: take it back to the year 875, you're out in
- 16:31Speaker 3: the desert. And this place, Chaco Canyon, was a whole
- 16:35Speaker 3: society where they did trading and people came from all
- 16:38Speaker 3: over North America there. So it's a very peaceful thing.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I do enjoy it quite a bit.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And is that something that you and your fiance have
- 16:48Speaker 1: kind of... Something you've really... Is that something you guys
- 16:52Speaker 1: have found you like doing together? I mean, so to
- 16:54Speaker 1: go camping, a lot of people would end up getting separated.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Usually I feel like.
- 16:58Speaker 3: This is her first time, uh, actually really coming to
- 17:01Speaker 3: throughout a lot of the United States too. So she's,
- 17:03Speaker 3: you know, she's from Canada, uh, and, uh, hasn't been
- 17:07Speaker 3: out to the desert before. So, um, but, uh, she's,
- 17:11Speaker 3: I mean, she's, she's, we're having fun, you know, we're
- 17:13Speaker 3: having fun out there, but it's, uh, it's, um, you know,
- 17:16Speaker 3: we just have, this is our first trip doing this. So, uh,
- 17:19Speaker 3: it's been cool.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Was it scary to get engaged? Because you've been married before.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, briefly, yeah. I was briefly married, yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 2: And then.
- 17:28Speaker 3: It was a long time ago, too, yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 2: And you hadn't been married since, though?
- 17:31Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:32Speaker 3: It's the first time engaged since. You know, no, it
- 17:36Speaker 3: was not scary because... Because that was Drew Barrymore, right?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah. In the early 2000s or something?
- 17:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah. But no, it wasn't scary because
- 17:45Speaker 3: Amanda's amazing, you know, so I knew it was the
- 17:47Speaker 3: right thing, the right This was the thing to do.
- 17:52Speaker 3: This had to be done.
- 17:53Speaker 2: That feels like the hardest decision. Yeah, I think that's
- 17:55Speaker 2: the thing.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I would like to get married, you know,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and I'm just thinking like, man, that day when you're like,
- 18:00Speaker 1: all right, I guess I'm going to get married today.
- 18:02Speaker 1: That sounds crazy when I say that out loud, you know.
- 18:05Speaker 3: You're a young guy too.
- 18:06Speaker 2: To think that.
- 18:07Speaker 3: There was a lot of things that happened that, you know,
- 18:09Speaker 3: I don't know if you want to talk about, you know,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I'm talking a lot about energy, but coincidences and synchronicity
- 18:15Speaker 3: and things like this. I moved back to Canada. and
- 18:19Speaker 3: I have a pond on my property, and in the winter,
- 18:23Speaker 3: it freezes over, and I shoveled the snow off the pond,
- 18:27Speaker 3: and I was playing hockey on the pond, like skating,
- 18:31Speaker 3: playing hockey on the pond. I shot a video of
- 18:34Speaker 3: that and put it up on the social medias. There
- 18:39Speaker 3: we go. That's beautiful. Here we are out at the pond. Wow,
- 18:43Speaker 3: you got a fast guy on the draw out there
- 18:46Speaker 3: on the, I just literally just said that and he
- 18:49Speaker 3: instantly found, yeah, so we're drilling a hole in the
- 18:52Speaker 3: pond here and that's, and then we can pump the
- 18:55Speaker 3: water out of that back on top of the pond
- 18:57Speaker 3: and give it a nice smooth, icy, that's my friend Ryan.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Oh wait, so what are you using here to do this?
- 19:03Speaker 2: This is a.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It's just a little sort of a. kind of some
- 19:06Speaker 3: sort of a ice auger or some sort.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Okay. So that, so you take the whole, and then
- 19:09Speaker 2: you pump the water out.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Then we got a pump. We just stick a fire
- 19:11Speaker 3: hose down in there and we pump water out of it.
- 19:13Speaker 3: We pump it up on top of the, of the,
- 19:15Speaker 3: of the ice and just basically flood the ice. And
- 19:18Speaker 3: then it freezes cause at night. And then we get nice,
- 19:20Speaker 3: some nice smooth ice out there.
- 19:22Speaker 2: How long does that process take?
- 19:24Speaker 3: Uh, just a day, you know, this just took a day.
- 19:25Speaker 3: The next morning was completely, uh, completely frozen, but then
- 19:29Speaker 3: you get two feet of snow and then you got
- 19:31Speaker 3: to do it all over again. But, uh, Which kind
- 19:33Speaker 3: of puts a damper on it.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Wow, this is so cool. So that right there that
- 19:36Speaker 2: you're on is a lake.
- 19:38Speaker 3: It's a pond. It's a pond, yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Okay, so that's a pond. There's the dock. So usually
- 19:41Speaker 1: it's water.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Right now you cut the holes. You're pumping the water
- 19:45Speaker 1: out of the pond onto the top of.
- 19:48Speaker 2: The ice, which is on the top of the pond.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah and then it gets it's cold you know it's
- 19:52Speaker 3: below zero so then the next morning it was pretty
- 19:54Speaker 3: much ready to now normally you would shovel it off
- 19:57Speaker 3: first but we just kind of we're kind of a
- 19:59Speaker 3: little uh lazy about that i guess and we just
- 20:02Speaker 3: flooded it instead which it ended up working out fine
- 20:05Speaker 3: But probably would have been better if we'd shoveled it
- 20:07Speaker 3: off first. But that seems like that would have been
- 20:09Speaker 3: a lot of work.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't have to do that.
- 20:11Speaker 3: But there you go.
- 20:13Speaker 4: See?
- 20:13Speaker 3: And then... Hot. So, yeah. So, we were doing this.
- 20:16Speaker 3: And then I was shooting these videos playing hockey. There
- 20:19Speaker 3: we go.
- 20:20Speaker 2: This is the next day?
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah. It's like probably the next day.
- 20:23Speaker 2: So, this is a common practice in Canada?
- 20:25Speaker 3: Well, you know, if you have a pond, I mean,
- 20:28Speaker 3: those are the barns in the background. That's my house
- 20:30Speaker 3: up there behind there. And so... Wow. We used to
- 20:35Speaker 3: do it in my backyard when I was a kid.
- 20:36Speaker 3: We used to flood the backyard.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Gretzky talked about that.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 20:41Speaker 2: When he was on air, he talked about flooding his backyard.
- 20:42Speaker 3: That's cool, yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Pretty cool.
- 20:43Speaker 3: That's amazing. The great one. Yeah.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I saw him at the inauguration. He lost a tooth.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:49Speaker 2: At the inauguration, he lost a tooth. Yeah, I chipped
- 20:52Speaker 2: my tooth, and I walked up to him.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I was like, man, I chipped my tooth, and he's like, oh, yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 1: and he showed me this, and he freaking lost one.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Him and his wife were looking for it on the ground.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Oh, okay, but it had been knocked out previously in
- 21:01Speaker 3: a hockey game of some sort.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that.
- 21:03Speaker 3: You didn't get punched out at the inauguration.
- 21:05Speaker 1: No, I think he could have been shocked by something
- 21:07Speaker 1: he saw, and maybe that took it out, but yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 1: he was just missing a grill piece at the inauguration.
- 21:13Speaker 2: It was just pretty bizarre.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Man, that's cool.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Dude, that's amazing. So these are the types of things
- 21:17Speaker 1: you're spending time doing up there. You really document it
- 21:19Speaker 1: really beautifully. And a lot of that doesn't even have
- 21:21Speaker 1: a lot of audio with it. It's really just seeing.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I've noticed this in some of your videos. It's just
- 21:25Speaker 1: kind of seeing what's going on. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 3: I kind of like to just kind of do these
- 21:28Speaker 3: sort of ambient sort of things to kind of just
- 21:33Speaker 3: kind of bring you into a certain place. It's sort
- 21:37Speaker 3: of like I like photography. This is just doing it
- 21:40Speaker 3: with video and being there. But after I posted that video, Amanda,
- 21:45Speaker 3: my fiance, she saw it and she sent me a
- 21:47Speaker 3: message on Instagram. This is how we met. And it
- 21:49Speaker 3: was a video of a Zamboni, a do-it-yourself Zamboni, which
- 21:54Speaker 3: is what a Zamboni is what you use to clean
- 21:56Speaker 3: off the ice in a hockey rink, right? And so
- 21:58Speaker 3: it was this homemade one. And we started, I just
- 22:00Speaker 3: started talking to her because I thought it was a
- 22:02Speaker 3: funny thing to send. And we, turns out we went
- 22:04Speaker 3: to the same elementary school. And, uh, yeah, it was
- 22:08Speaker 3: just sort of, uh, it was, it was, it was
- 22:10Speaker 3: just went, went from there. So cool.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Congratulations. Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Thanks man.
- 22:14Speaker 2: So did you meet your parents yet or no? Oh yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Were your parents happy to have you back home? What
- 22:20Speaker 2: was that like?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Uh, yeah, no, they are for sure. Yeah. No hesitation.
- 22:24Speaker 3: They were excited for me to come home, believe it
- 22:26Speaker 3: or not, you know, cause sometimes people wonder, you know,
- 22:28Speaker 3: cause he used to do a lot of pranks on them.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Do they still talk to you? You know, but, uh,
- 22:33Speaker 3: my parents, uh, We were always very close. Even when
- 22:37Speaker 3: I was doing my show on MTV and doing pranks
- 22:40Speaker 3: on them and annoying them with the video camera, they
- 22:44Speaker 3: would sort of laugh afterwards. And we've always had a
- 22:48Speaker 3: very close relationship. They're actually in my new show on Prime.
- 22:52Speaker 3: It's sort of. About me moving home.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Shows about me moving home.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's not the I Got a Mule. That's not that.
- 22:59Speaker 3: That's my stand-up special.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Okay, that's a stand-up special. That's on Prime as well
- 23:02Speaker 2: right now, huh? Yeah, yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 3: And there's a documentary on Prime and then the show
- 23:05Speaker 3: called Tom Green Country. And it's sort of about me
- 23:09Speaker 3: settling in at the farm. And they're hilarious. I mean,
- 23:12Speaker 3: they really make the show. Like there's something about their
- 23:16Speaker 3: sense of humor is– They're kind of razzing me in
- 23:19Speaker 3: the new show more than me pulling pranks on them.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I don't do that anymore.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Kind of full circle.
- 23:24Speaker 3: They've retired from being pranked.
- 23:25Speaker 2: From being a victim?
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.

- 26:16Speaker 1: on your first box. When you look back on it,
- 26:20Speaker 1: do you ever able to figure out a reason why
- 26:22Speaker 1: you liked to record things or like what you got
- 26:25Speaker 1: out of like, you know, because as we get older,
- 26:28Speaker 1: you kind of start to get a little bit of
- 26:29Speaker 1: like an overview kind of way. of ourselves even, you know,
- 26:33Speaker 1: in the world, maybe a little bit, a little bit
- 26:34Speaker 1: of an idea of what we have been doing in
- 26:37Speaker 1: the world. You ever able to figure any of that out?
- 26:40Speaker 1: Kind of like the reasoning behind some of it, like
- 26:42Speaker 1: why you liked capturing things or why you liked like
- 26:45Speaker 1: pulling the wool over people's, or, you know.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I think there was kind of a, a few layers
- 26:52Speaker 3: to that for sure. And that's a cool question. Um,
- 26:55Speaker 3: it's a great question. Cause like, One thing was we
- 27:01Speaker 3: never really had a video camera. I grew up in
- 27:09Speaker 3: the 80s, so we didn't have a video camera or
- 27:12Speaker 3: even a film camera. We didn't even take a lot
- 27:14Speaker 3: of photos. It was kind of expensive. People that had
- 27:18Speaker 3: a video camera, they had a lot of money. They
- 27:20Speaker 3: had a video camera. We never had a video camera.
- 27:23Speaker 3: And so when all of a sudden they became somewhat attainable,
- 27:27Speaker 3: you know, I would sort of sign one out at school.
- 27:31Speaker 3: And I found that it was kind of a... First
- 27:38Speaker 3: of all, I loved comedy. So I loved David Letterman.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I loved watching him go out in the street and
- 27:44Speaker 3: do stuff. And I loved Monty Python and SCTV. And
- 27:50Speaker 3: I just loved comedy. I was doing stand-up comedy in
- 27:54Speaker 3: Ottawa when I was 16 years old. And I was.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Would go down to watch you know norm mcdonald you
- 28:00Speaker 3: know when he was in his 20s you know and
- 28:02Speaker 3: i'm just like it was sort of a this amazing
- 28:05Speaker 3: thing and i somehow had this sort of feeling that
- 28:08Speaker 3: if i could just get a video camera and go
- 28:11Speaker 3: film stuff that you know maybe i could uh you
- 28:15Speaker 3: know make a show or whatever but there's also a
- 28:19Speaker 3: skateboarder you know and that was that was sort of
- 28:21Speaker 3: skateboarding videos were Holy shit. Look at this. This is amazing.
- 28:25Speaker 3: How did you find that so fast? Yeah, there me
- 28:27Speaker 3: at 16 years old. Yuck, yucks.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 3: How did you find that so fast? I don't even
- 28:32Speaker 3: know how... You must have had that in advance. That
- 28:34Speaker 3: is unbelievable. Is there some sort of weird algorithm here
- 28:36Speaker 3: or something like that?
- 28:37Speaker 2: I don't know if they did or not, but yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 2: it looks great. Wow. Yeah, it looks so... Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Look at that microphone too. It's like, I don't even...
- 28:42Speaker 3: They didn't even use the right microphone back then.
- 28:45Speaker 2: But....
- 28:46Speaker 3: But I, no, I just, I don't know, I often
- 28:51Speaker 3: kind of like think there's something about like, I don't know,
- 28:57Speaker 3: I think I've always been really afraid of the concept
- 28:59Speaker 3: of like being dead, you know, like being gone and
- 29:04Speaker 3: like there being no sort of, you know, recollection of
- 29:10Speaker 3: anything that you've ever done, right? And I always found
- 29:14Speaker 3: it interesting to just kind of document things and just
- 29:18Speaker 3: record things and that'll be there, you know, in some
- 29:21Speaker 3: electronic way floating around there forever. And it sort of
- 29:24Speaker 3: feels in a little way like kind of like sort
- 29:25Speaker 3: of a weird kind of immortality in a way, you know.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I think that's kind of what fascinates me about these
- 29:32Speaker 3: ruins in the desert too. Like these people came and
- 29:34Speaker 3: built these things in the year 875 and I'm walking
- 29:37Speaker 3: through it and looking at it and filming it and
- 29:38Speaker 3: talking about it with you. And so they're kind of
- 29:41Speaker 3: in a way kind of remembered, you know?
- 29:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 3: And then there was also just kind of the blatant,
- 29:47Speaker 3: you know, when I was younger, I was a little,
- 29:52Speaker 3: quite a bit different than I am now. I think
- 29:53Speaker 3: I've calmed down quite a bit. Like when I was younger,
- 29:56Speaker 3: I really always needed to be kind of like, you know,
- 29:59Speaker 3: the center of attention, the class clown, moving around a lot.
- 30:03Speaker 3: He was weird as a kid. So to me, it
- 30:06Speaker 3: seemed like a really good way of just kind of,
- 30:09Speaker 3: you know, documenting all of this silliness, you know, and
- 30:15Speaker 3: I loved it. You know, I love filming stuff and
- 30:17Speaker 3: showing it to people at school.
- 30:20Speaker 2: You captured so much.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You were one of the first people really to just
- 30:23Speaker 1: capture shit and just show it to people kind of,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you know, like kind of like, Not shit, but I mean, just.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Cat, you know?
- 30:29Speaker 3: Yeah, no shit for sure.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Actually actual shit was involved quite a bit.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 2: We're going to capture shit and show it to you.
- 30:35Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Like, this is what we mean. And I can totally
- 30:39Speaker 1: relate to what you said about, um, dude, I used to,
- 30:42Speaker 1: when I was, I guess probably turning around 20 to
- 30:46Speaker 1: probably 28, I would make postcards and I would send
- 30:50Speaker 1: them to my kids that weren't even born yet. Like
- 30:52Speaker 1: whenever I was traveling somewhere, I would send them, I
- 30:55Speaker 1: would make them out to my kids. I just wanted
- 30:57Speaker 1: my kids to know that I'd been, I needed there
- 31:00Speaker 1: to be some record that I like cared about my children,
- 31:04Speaker 1: even though they weren't here yet, which is kind of
- 31:06Speaker 1: a crazy thing, but it made me think about what
- 31:08Speaker 1: you're saying. Like, and I would scrapbook, I would save things.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Like I just wanted there to be like some proof
- 31:15Speaker 1: that I felt something in the world and that I existed. Right.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I think I just didn't, I don't know if I
- 31:20Speaker 1: just didn't have a lot of that. Or I needed
- 31:24Speaker 1: an insane amount of proof, and so that's why I
- 31:27Speaker 1: did it. But yeah, I could definitely relate to that,
- 31:30Speaker 1: to wanting to have some.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Timeline.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Just in case time ever showed up and said, hey,
- 31:39Speaker 2: were you here? I could be like, well.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Yes, here I was, you know? I could show
- 31:44Speaker 2: you my homework kind of or something, you know?
- 31:47Speaker 3: Absolutely. Yeah, I can relate to that because I talk
- 31:49Speaker 3: a little bit in my stand-up special about not having kids.
- 31:53Speaker 3: And I sometimes think it's kind of a bit of
- 31:55Speaker 3: a message to my future children that, you know, that
- 32:01Speaker 3: I'm aware that I haven't had them yet, you know?
- 32:03Speaker 3: And so I totally understand what you're saying about that. It's, yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 3: I mean, it's a weird thing, you know, because... 20
- 32:13Speaker 3: years ago, nobody had, definitely 30 years ago, nobody had
- 32:18Speaker 3: video cameras really like they do now. But now everybody
- 32:21Speaker 3: with their phones, everything documented. It's so normal now, but
- 32:26Speaker 3: I just put this documentary out on Prime, which is
- 32:30Speaker 3: called This is the Tom Green Documentary. It's sort of
- 32:32Speaker 3: a play on my old theme song on my show.
- 32:33Speaker 3: This is the Tom Green Show was the song, right?
- 32:37Speaker 3: So I went through like, Thousands of hours of video.
- 32:44Speaker 3: I'm going back looking at 17-year-old me running around doing stuff.
- 32:49Speaker 3: And it was actually kind of a pretty somewhat terrifying
- 32:56Speaker 3: experience actually because it was like this opportunity to kind
- 32:59Speaker 3: of tell the story of everything that happened with my
- 33:04Speaker 3: show and everything that happened with my experience here in LA.
- 33:07Speaker 3: And I wanted to kind of tell the story right.
- 33:12Speaker 3: And I've got so much video. And combing through all
- 33:16Speaker 3: of it was at times, you know, somewhat kind of
- 33:21Speaker 3: like I would be looking at myself like I'm looking
- 33:23Speaker 3: at a completely different person. And I can't even believe,
- 33:26Speaker 3: you know, I'm finding things I don't even remember happening.
- 33:31Speaker 3: And I'm looking at things that are just so complicated.
- 33:33Speaker 3: completely bonkers and silly and ridiculous. I'm like, whoa. Sometimes
- 33:38Speaker 3: I couldn't look at the TV. I'm like, oh my,
- 33:40Speaker 3: what was I doing?
- 33:41Speaker 2: That's how you made us feel.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. I was doing it to myself 20 years,
- 33:46Speaker 3: 30 years later. And no, I wouldn't recommend it to
- 33:49Speaker 3: anybody to go make a documentary about yourself. Definitely hire
- 33:52Speaker 3: somebody to do that and never watch it. But no,
- 33:55Speaker 3: it was fun because I wanted to tell the story
- 33:58Speaker 3: the right way, but it was also kind of very surreal.
- 34:02Speaker 1: But you know, was it hard to be true to
- 34:04Speaker 1: yourself making like, you know, making your own documentary and,
- 34:07Speaker 1: and no one should probably make your documentary except for you.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Cause you're one of the rare cases. It feels like
- 34:12Speaker 1: that has so much has documented themselves so much, you know, like, um,
- 34:18Speaker 1: and I don't even know.
- 34:19Speaker 2: If it's, I don't know if it seemed.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Like an egotistical way. I don't think it ever came
- 34:23Speaker 1: across like that of your footage. It just came across.
- 34:26Speaker 1: So you wanted to have control.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Over how you have yourself. You wanted to put yourself
- 34:31Speaker 2: out there.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Um, but was it hard to make a documentary and
- 34:35Speaker 1: not want to like make yourself the hero or something?
- 34:38Speaker 2: Or I don't, I've never made a documentary before. Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Or was there any of that in it or how
- 34:42Speaker 2: do I make this?
- 34:43Speaker 3: It's like the first scene of the documentary, I'm sitting
- 34:45Speaker 3: with my mother and she actually says, are you really
- 34:47Speaker 3: supposed to do, direct a documentary about yourself? I mean,
- 34:50Speaker 3: can't you kind of whitewash that a little bit? Are
- 34:52Speaker 3: you going to do that? Yeah, I'm going to do that. So, but, um,
- 34:55Speaker 3: honestly the, I wanted to be, uh, you know, I
- 35:00Speaker 3: wanted to be, I didn't not want to completely like,
- 35:04Speaker 3: you know, put a false story out there. So I
- 35:07Speaker 3: think the hardest part was trying to figure out how
- 35:10Speaker 3: to not be too self-deprecating, you know, because, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you think, you know, you know, when you get to
- 35:17Speaker 3: my age, you know, you look back and you think,
- 35:20Speaker 3: oh my God, I wish I hadn't done that, or
- 35:21Speaker 3: I wish I hadn't done that, or I shouldn't have
- 35:22Speaker 3: said that, or shouldn't have done that. And, you know,
- 35:24Speaker 3: I have a lot of those things, right? They're constantly
- 35:26Speaker 3: rattling around in my head. And you start to think like,
- 35:31Speaker 3: you know, man, maybe this is a good way for
- 35:33Speaker 3: me to go and just like apologize for everything that
- 35:36Speaker 3: I perceived that I've done wrong in my life.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 35:40Speaker 3: And then you have to kind of take a step
- 35:41Speaker 3: back and go, well, wait a minute, you know, like
- 35:42Speaker 3: that's might just be in my head, you know? So
- 35:44Speaker 3: I spent a lot of time talking to a lot
- 35:46Speaker 3: of people about, you know, people that I know, people
- 35:50Speaker 3: I'm close with about the story of really, it's the
- 35:54Speaker 3: story of the, of the show. And, uh, and takes
- 35:58Speaker 3: us through the story of kind of creating the show
- 36:00Speaker 3: and then building, you know, before the show with my
- 36:04Speaker 3: music and then after the show with building a, you know,
- 36:08Speaker 3: a sort of a web TV studio, right. In my,
- 36:11Speaker 3: in here in Los Angeles. And it's sort of a
- 36:14Speaker 3: telling of that story, but then I wanted to talk
- 36:16Speaker 3: a bit about some of the, uh, you know, personal
- 36:19Speaker 3: sort of, uh, you know, uh, things that I went through.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I mean, I had cancer when I was on MTV and, uh,
- 36:26Speaker 3: talked about that. I made this movie, Freddy Got Fingered,
- 36:29Speaker 3: which was not critically completely embraced. So it's like, I
- 36:39Speaker 3: wanted to explain myself a bit, but then at the
- 36:43Speaker 3: same time, there's a lot of people now that like
- 36:44Speaker 3: the movie, believe it or not. So I didn't want
- 36:46Speaker 3: to completely.
- 36:48Speaker 2: And hate the critics now.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:49Speaker 3: So it's sort of like, it was a very tricky
- 36:52Speaker 3: balancing act And then on top of that, there's just
- 36:56Speaker 3: so much footage and so many weird little funny clips
- 36:59Speaker 3: that only I know are the ones that people like
- 37:02Speaker 3: or people have or haven't seen. And I kind of
- 37:04Speaker 3: wanted to make sense of that all and piece it
- 37:06Speaker 3: all together. I don't think anyone else would have been
- 37:07Speaker 3: able to find it all, you know? Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Was there a project that you kind of wanted to
- 37:13Speaker 1: do over the years that you didn't really nail or
- 37:16Speaker 1: you didn't– something that didn't happen?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Was there something? Because you've just done so much stuff.
- 37:21Speaker 3: I mean, you know, it's– It's, it's interesting. Cause like,
- 37:27Speaker 3: in fact, that's part of what the documentary is about.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Cause like when I was, uh, got into making the
- 37:33Speaker 3: show when I was growing up, all I could even
- 37:38Speaker 3: imagine myself doing was I wanted to be a talk
- 37:40Speaker 3: show host. You know, I wanted to do basically a
- 37:42Speaker 3: show like David Letterman, right. Have guests on. And then
- 37:45Speaker 3: I go out in the street and, you know, be
- 37:47Speaker 3: a nutcase, you know, do goofy stuff. Right. And, uh,
- 37:51Speaker 3: I got to do that, you know, a few times
- 37:53Speaker 3: over the years. And, um, you know, when those shows
- 37:58Speaker 3: go away, you know, initially when that happened, you know,
- 38:01Speaker 3: that was back in the day of MTV, you know,
- 38:02Speaker 3: the first show I stopped when I got sick. So,
- 38:05Speaker 3: you know, it didn't actually get canceled, the Tom Green show.
- 38:07Speaker 3: But then when I started, I did a nightly show,
- 38:10Speaker 3: it kind of, you know, when it kind of got canceled,
- 38:13Speaker 3: I was thinking, oh my gosh, you know, this is
- 38:15Speaker 3: the worst thing that could ever happen to me that
- 38:19Speaker 3: I could ever imagine that I'm not going to be
- 38:21Speaker 3: able to do a nightly talk show. This was devastating
- 38:27Speaker 3: to me. And as time marches on and I look
- 38:32Speaker 3: at all the things that I've done instead, touring, doing
- 38:37Speaker 3: standup or moving back to the farm and everything in between,
- 38:43Speaker 3: I kind of realized, man, I'm kind of Kind of
- 38:46Speaker 3: glad that actually didn't work out because if that show
- 38:50Speaker 3: had been a big hit, then I would have been
- 38:51Speaker 3: going down to the same studio every night for the
- 38:53Speaker 3: last 30 years and I wouldn't have gotten to do
- 38:55Speaker 3: all these other things. So Freddy Got Fingered, of course,
- 39:00Speaker 3: was a idiotic movie, purposefully so.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you guys make that yourselves? Yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I wrote it with my friend, Derek, and I directed it.
- 39:11Speaker 2: You did? Was it your first time you'd ever directed
- 39:12Speaker 2: a movie?
- 39:13Speaker 3: It was, yeah.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 39:14Speaker 3: It was, but it was, we had a budget, you know,
- 39:16Speaker 3: it was 20th century Fox. We had, you know, cause
- 39:18Speaker 3: the show was doing good on MTV. So they, uh,
- 39:21Speaker 3: they let me direct it, you know, they let me
- 39:23Speaker 3: do that, which was, um, you know, probably a mistake,
- 39:26Speaker 3: but no, they, uh, no, it was, uh, you know,
- 39:28Speaker 3: we really pushed it to make it like we We
- 39:30Speaker 3: were in our 20s. So the idea was, let's make
- 39:33Speaker 3: this the craziest movie ever made. It's literally, we actually
- 39:36Speaker 3: believed that we could do something like that. And so
- 39:41Speaker 3: it gets complicated because then How do you define failure?
- 39:46Speaker 3: It came out, Roger Ebert, and it wasn't Siskel. It
- 39:52Speaker 3: was the other guy. He had another guy there.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, the second string.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Ebert and Roper.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Ebert and Roper, they sent that guy in.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yeah, even he didn't like it.
- 39:59Speaker 4: He didn't?
- 39:59Speaker 3: Even Roper didn't like it. I mean, it wasn't even Siskel.
- 40:02Speaker 3: It was Roper, whoever that guy was. But anyways, they
- 40:05Speaker 3: trashed it. And you're kind of thinking at the time, man,
- 40:08Speaker 3: this is devastating. Ebert and Roper are trashing my film.
- 40:11Speaker 3: But- And you think, oh, you start to question, you know,
- 40:16Speaker 3: every sort of choice you've made, you know?
- 40:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:19Speaker 1: This guy looks like he also likes canned sardines at
- 40:21Speaker 1: the same time. And these days, nobody even trusts the
- 40:25Speaker 1: critics anyway. So it's kind of funny now that it's like.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:28Speaker 3: At the time, like, it was the end of, you know,
- 40:32Speaker 3: the line if these guys trashed your movie.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 40:35Speaker 3: It's like my first movie and all the stuff riding
- 40:38Speaker 3: on it. And then these kind of just destroyed it.
- 40:40Speaker 3: And I remember just sitting there like watching this, just thinking,
- 40:43Speaker 3: oh my gosh, this is it. You know, this is
- 40:45Speaker 3: the end. But, you know, it wasn't, you know, I
- 40:47Speaker 3: just kept going, kept doing my thing. And you look
- 40:50Speaker 3: back at it and go, it's kind of funny now
- 40:51Speaker 3: that they didn't like it, you know?
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of awesome that they didn't.
- 40:55Speaker 3: It's weird because there's a weird sort of counterintuitiveness to
- 40:58Speaker 3: it because we set out to make a movie that
- 41:01Speaker 3: those guys would not like. And then when they don't
- 41:03Speaker 3: like it, you're upset about it.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:05Speaker 3: It's like I kind of thought that they would sort
- 41:07Speaker 3: of see the irony and go, I know we're not
- 41:09Speaker 3: supposed to like this, but actually this kid's pretty clever.
- 41:12Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 41:13Speaker 3: They didn't say that.
- 41:15Speaker 2: What was the budget on that movie? Do you remember?
- 41:18Speaker 3: $ 14 million. Wow. They spent on that. Plus an additional
- 41:21Speaker 3: 10 on promotion and advertising and stuff. And you know what?
- 41:25Speaker 3: I will say it made it all back on DVD.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Remember DVD?
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Remember they used to put DVDs out? So I think
- 41:31Speaker 3: I heard it made $ 35 million on DVD. So it
- 41:34Speaker 3: actually was a profitable movie. Made $ 14 million at the
- 41:37Speaker 3: box office. I'm here defending it now. It made its
- 41:40Speaker 3: money back. It made its money back. No, but it did.
- 41:42Speaker 3: So it did make its money back. But Ebert and
- 41:46Speaker 3: Roper aren't going to tell you that, though. They're not
- 41:48Speaker 3: going to tell you that.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Well, it wasn't the Titanic, you know?
- 41:50Speaker 3: No, no, exactly.
- 41:51Speaker 2: It was.
- 41:52Speaker 3: I mean, it was in a way, but in the
- 41:55Speaker 3: sense that it bombed. But no, it was... It's funny
- 42:01Speaker 3: though because there was a long period of time there
- 42:03Speaker 3: where I was made to feel like it was a
- 42:06Speaker 3: really bad decision and then in the last like 10
- 42:08Speaker 3: years it's like you know all I hear are people
- 42:13Speaker 3: saying they love it. Someone today showed me they had
- 42:16Speaker 3: an x-ray cat tattoo you know like it's a character
- 42:19Speaker 3: in the movie you know. So it's like it is
- 42:22Speaker 3: a little confusing when you talk about sort of I
- 42:25Speaker 3: mean your question was how do you handle things like
- 42:27Speaker 3: failure and things like that. It's like you know, it's
- 42:30Speaker 3: kind of the more of those kinds of things you
- 42:34Speaker 3: go through, the more you kind of learn to kind
- 42:36Speaker 3: of embrace it in a way. It's kind of, it's
- 42:38Speaker 3: almost a good thing, you know?
- 42:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 1: David Spitt and I just wrote a movie together, not
- 42:43Speaker 1: to name drop or anything, but we did, and we
- 42:45Speaker 1: just funded ourselves and stuff. And so it's just kind
- 42:48Speaker 1: of a scary time, I think. So that's why I'm
- 42:50Speaker 1: asking that as well.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Not scary.
- 42:52Speaker 1: It's exciting too, but it's also like, yeah, I just,
- 42:55Speaker 1: one day I'll be like, that's something I tried to do.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I was trying to be creative and We tried our best,
- 43:00Speaker 1: and I got to try it with somebody who I
- 43:03Speaker 1: love to watch anyway.
- 43:05Speaker 3: That's cool. So you've written it. Are you going to
- 43:06Speaker 3: go make the movie with him?
- 43:07Speaker 2: We have five days left shooting.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Oh, you're shooting the movie already?
- 43:10Speaker 2: We start back tomorrow.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Kind of like a Joe Dirt 2, 3 kind of thing?
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yeah. No, it's a good question. It's like two guys.
- 43:19Speaker 1: One of them gets hit by a vehicle. My character
- 43:22Speaker 1: gets hit by a car when he's young, and Spade.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Rescues me.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And he and I become friends then and he gets
- 43:30Speaker 1: me a job years later. We're working together like at
- 43:33Speaker 1: a sewage company.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Oh, nice. Like a repo man kind of thing.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah, type of shit.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Well, you know, the thing is that you're in good
- 43:40Speaker 3: hands here because you're with a guy that's done this
- 43:43Speaker 3: a lot before. Right, he's done it a lot. And
- 43:45Speaker 3: it's sort of a season.
- 43:46Speaker 1: If I had to direct it too, like I like
- 43:48Speaker 1: to like chime in with the director and stuff like
- 43:50Speaker 1: that and throw in ideas and stuff like that.
- 43:53Speaker 2: But it's just definitely a big learning curve.
- 43:55Speaker 3: It's a lot.
- 43:56Speaker 2: So I can't imagine, especially in our budget, it's just
- 43:58Speaker 2: a couple million bucks.
- 43:59Speaker 3: So if it.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Were really big, that'd be really, I feel like it'd
- 44:02Speaker 2: be scary kind of.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, back then we were shooting on film.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Things cost more. It was, at the time, was considered
- 44:11Speaker 3: a low budget movie, right? But I think that, I
- 44:17Speaker 3: don't know, it just seems like the way things get
- 44:23Speaker 3: released these days and the ways people embrace weirdness these days.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I'm assuming it's kind of a weird movie.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just funny. It's just like old school funny.
- 44:34Speaker 3: So like a funny movie, right? You have this incredible
- 44:39Speaker 3: thing going with your show here, so you have your
- 44:41Speaker 3: audience built in, so you don't really have to worry
- 44:44Speaker 3: about the same things that maybe back in the day
- 44:48Speaker 3: when you put out something crazy and sort of in
- 44:50Speaker 3: a sea of somewhat normal movies coming out every weekend.
- 44:54Speaker 3: All getting funneled through this sort of mainstream, you know,
- 44:58Speaker 3: cinema release system.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Right, this conglomerate, yeah.
- 45:01Speaker 3: It's very strange, you know. Like, we had to take
- 45:04Speaker 3: the movie and focus group it.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 45:07Speaker 3: And then people would sit there with pads. And it
- 45:09Speaker 3: was in Phoenix. We flew down to Phoenix to focus
- 45:12Speaker 3: group Freddy Got Fingered. That's where they do a lot
- 45:13Speaker 3: of them, huh? Yeah, yeah. For some reason, they do
- 45:15Speaker 3: them there in Phoenix. And, you know, and like, you know,
- 45:20Speaker 3: then someone stands up after the movie and asks them
- 45:22Speaker 3: what they didn't like about the movie. Well, with, you know,
- 45:24Speaker 3: Freddy Got Fingered, I mean, we're sort of You're sort
- 45:27Speaker 3: of supposed to not like any of these scenes. You're
- 45:29Speaker 3: supposed to be kind of polarizing. So it didn't really
- 45:33Speaker 3: kind of work with the focus group system. And then
- 45:36Speaker 3: you had to make changes to it and all that
- 45:38Speaker 3: kind of stuff. But you probably, you guys probably have
- 45:41Speaker 3: a lot more creative control over things.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I think we'll just make a trailer and put it out.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:45Speaker 2: You know, I'm guessing. I have no idea. I'm just,
- 45:49Speaker 2: part of my brain hasn't even gotten to that thought yet,
- 45:51Speaker 2: you know.
- 45:52Speaker 3: That's exciting.
- 45:53Speaker 1: But it definitely feels kind of, yeah, it feels like
- 45:55Speaker 1: just like, Well, I wanted to, you know, we tried
- 45:58Speaker 1: to do it. Who knows what will happen, you know?
- 46:00Speaker 3: Oh, it's going to be awesome.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 46:02Speaker 3: You and Spade, I'm going to go see that. That's incredible.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Well, thanks. I appreciate it, man.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Everybody will. Everybody's going to love that.
- 46:07Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:08Speaker 1: That's what I'll say. That's what I do. Yeah, I
- 46:11Speaker 1: do believe that it'll be interesting. Of course it will.
- 46:14Speaker 1: How did you deal, whenever there were tough times, like,
- 46:17Speaker 1: because you had so much of like recording yourself, like setting,
- 46:20Speaker 1: you know, like kind of like living under your own
- 46:22Speaker 1: recording schedule and stuff like that. Were there days off,
- 46:25Speaker 1: like when you... would just have your show from home, right?
- 46:29Speaker 1: Was there days where you would just like take off?
- 46:32Speaker 1: What was that shoot schedule like when you were?
- 46:34Speaker 3: When I was doing the web show at home? Well,
- 46:39Speaker 3: I mean, it was, so there wasn't really sort of
- 46:44Speaker 3: a podcasting yet. Wasn't really a thing really, right? So
- 46:50Speaker 3: we built the studio and it would basically just stream
- 46:53Speaker 3: to my website. I mean, there was no Instagram yet.
- 46:55Speaker 3: YouTube had just started. Um, and people would come and
- 46:59Speaker 3: watch it on the front page of, of tomgreen.com. And
- 47:03Speaker 3: we actually had like a company in San Francisco that
- 47:06Speaker 3: made like the, the video playback system, you know, so
- 47:09Speaker 3: it was CDN content distribution network. It was basically, so
- 47:13Speaker 3: we would upload a video to that. We, there was,
- 47:14Speaker 3: we weren't uploading it to YouTube and linking it or
- 47:17Speaker 3: there was, there was no YouTube really. So, so it
- 47:20Speaker 3: was kind of just a big sort of science experiment
- 47:25Speaker 3: that I was doing with, uh, you know, my group
- 47:28Speaker 3: of friends. And, you know, I had the sort of
- 47:37Speaker 3: goal of trying to sort of make it a show
- 47:41Speaker 3: that would become profitable, get advertisers and maybe sell it
- 47:45Speaker 3: to television, which we did a little bit of that,
- 47:47Speaker 3: you know. So, you know, I was kind of pretty driven,
- 47:52Speaker 3: I guess. And it's kind of what I notice now
- 47:54Speaker 3: with like, which is amazing is like, you know, the
- 47:59Speaker 3: people that have these incredible businesses that they've got going,
- 48:02Speaker 3: these incredible, you know, artistic visions they have for themselves.
- 48:06Speaker 3: They're all kind of have that same kind of drive
- 48:08Speaker 3: in them. You know, they get up in the morning,
- 48:10Speaker 3: their mind is just like, how are we going to
- 48:13Speaker 3: make this better today? And how are we going to
- 48:14Speaker 3: make this awesome today?
- 48:15Speaker 2: You know?
- 48:16Speaker 3: So it was kind of, it was kind of like that,
- 48:18Speaker 3: you know, we were getting up and turning on the
- 48:21Speaker 3: studio every night and I did be inviting up, you know,
- 48:26Speaker 3: rappers and too short came up and, you know, Jurassic
- 48:29Speaker 3: five and exhibit. And then, you know, you wrap up comedian,
- 48:33Speaker 3: invite comedians up and like Joe Rogan would come over and,
- 48:36Speaker 3: you know, a Norm MacDonald who I became good friends with,
- 48:39Speaker 3: you know, would start coming over all the time and,
- 48:42Speaker 3: you know, literally like hundreds and hundreds of people would
- 48:45Speaker 3: come over and it became this kind of really fun
- 48:48Speaker 3: thing to do. Um, I wasn't doing standup at the time.
- 48:52Speaker 3: I hadn't done standup in years. Um, So I was
- 48:55Speaker 3: really just doing that. And it was ridiculous. I mean,
- 49:02Speaker 3: we were just enjoying the absurdity of it.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Was it so stressful?
- 49:07Speaker 3: Or were you just... It was because I put pressure
- 49:10Speaker 3: on myself and I would actually get stressed out about it.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And then we would have people that would prank call us.
- 49:15Speaker 3: So I had this phone system on the desk and
- 49:17Speaker 3: you could just call it and it would ring and
- 49:19Speaker 3: I'd hit answer and so we had like you know
- 49:22Speaker 3: people trolling us basically i remember getting rickrolled for the
- 49:26Speaker 3: first time you know that's like and it was like
- 49:27Speaker 3: oh i've kind of felt like i don't know if
- 49:29Speaker 3: i'd ever heard of rickrolling before i got rickrolled you
- 49:32Speaker 3: know and um it's cool and it became kind of
- 49:35Speaker 3: like a little bit of a game you know like
- 49:37Speaker 3: where we were There was a switch that I'd built with, uh, uh,
- 49:43Speaker 3: Bill Schnitzer was his name. He worked there and, uh, Victor,
- 49:45Speaker 3: a couple of the guys that worked there. And, uh,
- 49:49Speaker 3: we built the switch under the desk. It was like metal.
- 49:53Speaker 3: And it was like, we got a metal box with
- 49:55Speaker 3: a switch and we had wires and we soldered them together.
- 49:58Speaker 3: And then the wires ran out to the computer. And
- 50:01Speaker 3: then Bill was able to program the computer so that
- 50:05Speaker 3: when like I flipped that switch. It would, like if
- 50:09Speaker 3: everything was off, it's the middle of the night in
- 50:12Speaker 3: my house. It's quiet night, nobody there. And if I
- 50:17Speaker 3: were to get up at one o'clock in the morning
- 50:19Speaker 3: by myself and put clown makeup on, which I often did,
- 50:24Speaker 3: and a top hat and walk out into my living
- 50:26Speaker 3: room and flick the switch, the switch would turn on
- 50:29Speaker 3: the lights, would turn on the cameras, would turn on
- 50:31Speaker 3: the computers. This computer would tell this computer to start recording.
- 50:36Speaker 3: The phone system would turn on. It would send it
- 50:39Speaker 3: to the front page of my website. Just one switch.
- 50:41Speaker 3: I haven't done anything. All I've done is put on
- 50:43Speaker 3: some clown makeup and flipped a switch, right? You don't
- 50:45Speaker 3: have to put on the clown makeup, but I did
- 50:47Speaker 3: do that often.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, you better.
- 50:48Speaker 3: It was called the French clown of midnight. I'd speak
- 50:50Speaker 3: in French in clown makeup. And you wonder why it
- 50:53Speaker 3: didn't work out. But then the phone would start ringing,
- 50:57Speaker 3: and I'd just be doing the show. I'd have a
- 50:59Speaker 3: switcher on the desk so I could switch the cameras,
- 51:01Speaker 3: and I would just start taking calls. And it was
- 51:05Speaker 3: really the only live video– On the internet. Like really,
- 51:09Speaker 3: like that's, there was no Instagram live or anything. So
- 51:11Speaker 3: it was like, you imagine when I was a kid,
- 51:15Speaker 3: I wanted to do, I like prank calling the radio station.
- 51:17Speaker 3: I'd like to call into the radio station and, uh,
- 51:21Speaker 3: I would call into the radio station and I'd record it.
- 51:24Speaker 3: And then I'd call into the radio station. I'd pretend
- 51:26Speaker 3: I was like my friend's father and I'd call and
- 51:29Speaker 3: I'd start complaining about my son and I'd use his
- 51:31Speaker 3: name and I'd play the tape back to him. And
- 51:32Speaker 3: it was hilarious to me, you know? And, um, So
- 51:36Speaker 3: I loved that like pranking a radio station and I
- 51:41Speaker 3: kind of started to realize like we're the only live
- 51:45Speaker 3: show on the internet right now with a phone with
- 51:47Speaker 3: no call screener. All these people like me around the
- 51:53Speaker 3: world could now call in and prank me, you know.
- 51:56Speaker 3: And so we kind of got into this little sort
- 51:58Speaker 3: of war basically, you know, which was– Fun because I
- 52:04Speaker 3: would get angry about it, but then also I kind
- 52:07Speaker 3: of didn't have to turn the phone on.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 52:10Speaker 3: You know? So it was really fun. And I got
- 52:14Speaker 3: to meet a lot of great people. I mean, that's
- 52:17Speaker 3: where I really got to hang out with Joe Rogan
- 52:20Speaker 3: for the first time, really, and Norm, who I became
- 52:24Speaker 3: really close with, and so many other people. And it
- 52:28Speaker 3: was amazing.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Did Norm, did you talk to him much in the
- 52:32Speaker 2: later years?
- 52:34Speaker 3: Well, at the very end, I did not know that
- 52:37Speaker 3: he was sick. I didn't know he was sick.
- 52:38Speaker 2: So that was– It seemed like he kept that from everybody. Yeah.
- 52:42Speaker 3: And he's from my hometown. He's from Ottawa, Canada. And
- 52:45Speaker 3: he started at the same comedy club that I started
- 52:48Speaker 3: at Yuck Yucks in Ottawa. Howard Wagman, who's the– still
- 52:52Speaker 3: owns the comedy club in Ottawa, Yuck Yucks, which is
- 52:56Speaker 3: like all across Canada. It's kind of like the improv
- 52:57Speaker 3: of Canada.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I've heard of it. I've been to one
- 52:59Speaker 2: of them, I think.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So he's awesome and he– He put Norm
- 53:05Speaker 3: on the stage for the first time and tells a
- 53:08Speaker 3: story about how Norm got off stage the very first
- 53:10Speaker 3: time he did stand-up. He was in his 20s and
- 53:11Speaker 3: he didn't think he did well and he was walking
- 53:14Speaker 3: down the street. I'm never going to do that again.
- 53:15Speaker 3: And Howard chased him down Spark Street in Ottawa and
- 53:18Speaker 3: stopped and said, you've got to come back tomorrow. And
- 53:20Speaker 3: he made him come back because he saw his genius, right?
- 53:25Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody was like him. They were just talking about him.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I just watched the SNL monologue that he did one
- 53:31Speaker 1: time that was pretty great where he's like, they fired
- 53:34Speaker 1: me from the show, but now they want me back,
- 53:36Speaker 1: you know, which is, and how it just didn't even
- 53:39Speaker 1: make any, make any sense. And you just kind of
- 53:41Speaker 1: shit on the show.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Yeah. Um, it was weird. Like, cause like, it's weird.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Like I find myself sometimes now talking about 2005, like
- 53:51Speaker 3: it was like 50 years ago or something like that,
- 53:54Speaker 3: but it really is. Things have changed so much in
- 53:57Speaker 3: the last 20 years with social media that it does
- 54:01Speaker 3: really feel like kind of a different, world. Like I
- 54:04Speaker 3: remember Norm would come up. Yeah. And you know, the
- 54:07Speaker 3: first time he came up, I just couldn't believe I
- 54:09Speaker 3: was going to hang out with them, you know, and
- 54:11Speaker 3: hang out with them for two hours on camera, um,
- 54:16Speaker 3: sort of in some ways kind of doing a make
- 54:19Speaker 3: believe talk show, even though there were people watching, it
- 54:21Speaker 3: was kind of like, you know, experimental talk show. And
- 54:26Speaker 3: he was getting into that and then the show would
- 54:28Speaker 3: end and we'd go, you know, on YouTube and and
- 54:32Speaker 3: go look at videos. And I was like, I remember
- 54:35Speaker 3: it was like YouTube was so new that it was
- 54:38Speaker 3: just the strangest thing. I'd be sitting with Norm Macdonald
- 54:40Speaker 3: after doing this for two hours. And we were sitting
- 54:42Speaker 3: there watching, you know, crazy clips that he would find,
- 54:48Speaker 3: you know, like baby versus Cobra, you know, with the
- 54:51Speaker 3: Cobras mouth sewed together.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Those are good.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Grape lady falls. I remember watching these videos with Norm
- 54:58Speaker 3: and just, dying of laughter you know in the middle
- 55:01Speaker 3: of the night just thinking this is this is cool
- 55:03Speaker 3: now it's just so normal to look at viral videos
- 55:05Speaker 3: and stuff but back then we thought we were just
- 55:07Speaker 3: have you ever seen this video i've never seen oh
- 55:09Speaker 3: man this is i mean it's a little bit you
- 55:11Speaker 3: kind of can you play the audio too is it
- 55:13Speaker 3: possible because the audio is sort of important for this one.
- 55:18Speaker 1: And the winner this Saturday is Stump Music, eating international food,
- 55:23Speaker 1: having wine tours and tasting, vineyard.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Tours, seminars, arts and crafts.
- 55:28Speaker 3: It's a lot of fun, a whole day.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Oof. .
- 55:33Speaker 2: .
- 55:36Speaker 4: .
- 55:45Speaker 2: .
- 55:49Speaker 3: So, yeah. Yeah.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Ouch. Ouch.
- 55:52Speaker 3: They're struggling not to laugh.
- 55:54Speaker 1: And that lady has the smallest head as well. If
- 55:58Speaker 1: people's heads are real small, they should not talk a lot.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I love that. That's your takeaway for this, is her
- 56:05Speaker 3: head size as well. It is true, though, by the way.
- 56:07Speaker 3: I never noticed that.
- 56:08Speaker 2: That lady has a very small head.
- 56:09Speaker 1: When people with small heads talk a lot, it feels
- 56:11Speaker 1: like they're cheating the system a little bit. I just
- 56:15Speaker 1: feel like a regular head, you get a regular amount
- 56:17Speaker 1: of words.
- 56:18Speaker 2: Small head. Less words.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Don't do too much. Right.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Or at least just talk in sort of the amount
- 56:27Speaker 3: of words that your head should justify, your head size
- 56:30Speaker 3: should justify.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Yes. Don't be a crazy little head just doing a bunch.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 2: I dated a girl one time for a while with
- 56:36Speaker 2: a small head, beautiful girl, great girl. Mm-hmm.
- 56:39Speaker 1: But knew when to talk, when not to talk. You
- 56:42Speaker 1: wouldn't see her just yammering on like some big head,
- 56:46Speaker 1: you know?
- 56:47Speaker 2: So I fucking.
- 56:49Speaker 3: Did you notice right away that she had a particularly
- 56:51Speaker 3: small head or was that something that sort of dawned
- 56:52Speaker 3: on you later?
- 56:53Speaker 2: She had big hair, big kind of Italian-ish hair. And
- 56:58Speaker 2: every now and then I would feel her head and
- 56:59Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I feel like there should be
- 57:01Speaker 2: a little more head here.
- 57:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So once you got under that, the
- 57:04Speaker 3: hair was... Puffed out, probably purposefully. We probably knew that
- 57:07Speaker 3: her head was small. It was an espionage. It was
- 57:09Speaker 3: a mirage. Hiding it a little bit.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and you'd see it.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Probably a little self-conscious of it.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Yeah, could have been. But yeah, cool girl, small head,
- 57:18Speaker 2: but knew how to use it, right? Yeah. Not somebody
- 57:22Speaker 2: that was ambivalent to their head size and is just
- 57:24Speaker 2: running around just squawking at the moon every chance they get.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
- 57:28Speaker 1: This is pretty wild that Morgan & Morgan has just
- 57:32Speaker 1: filed a first-of-its-kind lawsuit against food industry behemoths.
- 57:38Speaker 2: That's the truth.
- 57:40Speaker 1: The lawsuit alleges that these companies engineer their ultra-processed food
- 57:44Speaker 1: products to be addictive and market those products towards children,
- 57:49Speaker 1: allegedly causing chronic disease in children. The complaint details the
- 57:54Speaker 1: strategic and calculated actions that these companies allegedly took to
- 57:58Speaker 1: target children with addictive ultra-processed foods, including internal memos, strategic meetings,
- 58:05Speaker 1: and the extensive research they allegedly conducted to leverage our
- 58:09Speaker 1: biology and neurology to create addictive substances. We've all been
- 58:14Speaker 1: hearing for years and maybe speculating that a lot of
- 58:18Speaker 1: ultra-processed foods could be addictive. And I just think it's
- 58:22Speaker 1: fascinating to finally see this possibility coming to light today.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Morgan & Morgan is committed to fighting for the people
- 58:30Speaker 1: and for the families. If your child has been diagnosed
- 58:33Speaker 1: with one of these diseases, you may have legal options.
- 58:37Speaker 1: They've helped thousands of families seek justice against big corporations,
- 58:42Speaker 1: and they're ready to fight for you, too. Learn more
- 58:45Speaker 1: at ForThePeople.com slash Theo. That's F-O-R ThePeople.com slash T-H-E-O.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Did you, um... Yeah, what did I do? Oh, yeah,
- 58:59Speaker 2: I just went to the SNL 50th.
- 59:01Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that's amazing. Yeah, I know. Was that incredible?
- 59:04Speaker 2: It was cool. You got to host it.
- 59:05Speaker 3: I did. I know. That's amazing. I was on tour.
- 59:07Speaker 3: I wasn't able to go. I would have loved to
- 59:09Speaker 3: have gone to that. That must have been wild. I
- 59:10Speaker 3: went to the 40th. And I remember that was... That
- 59:14Speaker 3: is just the most surreal thing. If it's anything, I
- 59:18Speaker 3: imagine it was. Like, just everybody is there, right? Yeah.
- 59:22Speaker 1: I'll get to go to the music night. And then
- 59:24Speaker 1: I'm buddies with Louis C.K.
- 59:27Speaker 2: He took me to.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Chris Rock's birthday party on Saturday night, which was crazy
- 59:33Speaker 1: because Chris Rock is always like my favorite comedian growing up.
- 59:35Speaker 1: And so just to even be able to be there,
- 59:38Speaker 1: I definitely felt like out of place or whatever, but
- 59:40Speaker 1: it was also cool, you know, just to like, you know,
- 59:43Speaker 1: kind of fly on the wall there.
- 59:44Speaker 3: So did you do really actually feel out of place there?
- 59:47Speaker 2: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 59:47Speaker 3: And why, why do you think that is?
- 59:49Speaker 1: Just like, it feels like kind of fancy, you know,
- 59:52Speaker 1: I mean, I could tell right when I saw Chris Rock,
- 59:54Speaker 1: how I felt like, Some people you don't get nervous
- 59:56Speaker 1: around them or you've seen them a couple times. And
- 59:58Speaker 1: so there becomes a little bit of ambiance, you know.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: But I just didn't know him. And so, yeah, I
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: think that created some of the nervous energy. Some other
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: people I did know. So it wasn't that bad. But
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I got introduced to people that I didn't know. And
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: so you're always like, I don't know, always– I don't
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: usually say a lot then. I'll kind of just be
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: a listener.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: See, I get like that too. And I wish I didn't.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: This sort of social anxiety when you're in an environment
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: like that where there's just all these people that you
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: admire and respect and are around you and everybody... I
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: kind of don't even feel like myself. It's a sort
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: of a very stressful thing for me.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: So in some ways, I was kind of.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: That's a good word. It's stressful.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know why that is. Why
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: is that?
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Well, I think it's because you're a little bit probably,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I don't know how I fit in this circle. There's
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: a lot of circles in the world where I get it.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: But you're on top of the world right now. You
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: just interviewed the president of the United States. I mean, everybody,
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: you've got this incredible show. I mean, I'm sure everybody
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: was super excited to see you there. So you probably
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: don't really have any reason to feel nervous, but you
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: still do, right? Yeah.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I just didn't know. I hadn't been in that
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: circle before. It's kind of like, I guess, when you're
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: in a, I don't know, when you're in, Just feel
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like you're in a new water. You're figuring out the temperature.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: You don't know, you know, you don't want to make
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: a lot of noise at somebody's birthday party. They are
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: seeing friends that they know. It's not a huge group
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: of people. So you just want to kind of, you know,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you don't want to overstay your welcome, you know, kind
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: of type of energy, you know. I don't need to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: tell a big story. They know each other. I'm just
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: happy to be here. Happy to be able to see
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: somebody celebrate their birthday, to witness something. people that I
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: admire from a little bit of a way, you know,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: from a little closer than I'm usually allowed to get
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: to them, you know, online or on TV, I guess.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: But the SNL thing was, we went to the music,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: they had a music show.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Radio City.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: And that's the part that I got to go to.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: And that was pretty cool. Just seeing different bands, Jelly
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Roll performed. And so I know him.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: And so there was, yeah, and I got to bring
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: a friend.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: And so I knew my buddy was, you know, we
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: were just kind of, milling around, running into some people
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: that we knew and meeting some new people, but it
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: was pretty chill.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: So when you went to the, you went to the
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: inauguration too, right?
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I went to the inauguration.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Yeah. So like when you go to the inauguration and
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: you've already, now, you know, the president of the United States,
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: cause you'd had this interview with him.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Like you could kind of hang out with him at
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: the inauguration or?
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: No, no, I didn't see any of them.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I was in like the second tier of humans there
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: or something, you know, like there was a first tier
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: of And then I was in a second tier of
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: humans that were there.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: But that's got to be kind of still interesting nonetheless
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: to be there.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Oh, it was interesting, very interesting. Because you don't even
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: know if the process is real. You see it on TV,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: but it's like, who knows if that shit's real? Who
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: knows what's real anymore? So to witness that was pretty cool.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Just to be in Washington, D.C. is always pretty neat
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: with all the architecture. But I don't know Trump like that.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I'll message with his daughter sometimes, Ivanka. So I'm able
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: to communicate.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: With her and then.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: What do you guys talk about? She'll just send me
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: a book that she thinks I would like.
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: When we went to dinner one time, she's so smart.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: It's mind blowing.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: And so.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Go to dinner with her a lot or?
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: No, I only went one time. That's pretty cool.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: Was, was her husband Jared there or was it just
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: you two?
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: He wasn't. It was other friends of hers. Okay.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Not trying to break any news here, but it sounds interesting.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I wish there were news to break, dude. She's stunning.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: She's awesome.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: And then there's like a middleman, like who worked with the,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I guess, I guess he worked with the Republican party
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: and he got to invite some people.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: So it was just a motley group of strange people that, uh,
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: went to the inauguration.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: So how did that work? So can I ask you
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: a question, sir?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Yeah, sure.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so when he came on your show, right? It
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: was right before the election and he was doing a
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: lot of podcasts and stuff. Did they approach you or
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: did they call you? His son is a fan of
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: your show, right? Is that what it is?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he said. He said Baron was a
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: fan of the show and I tried to get to
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: see Baron, but I didn't get to meet him.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: So you just got a call one day and Trump
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: wanted to come on the show and.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Well, I'd seen, I'd met Trump a couple of times
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: at UFC.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: UFC I think is, had everything to do with winning
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: the election.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Probably for, for the Republicans. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Because Dana White is just such a, um, facilitator. He
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: just gets things done. He kept his sport going while
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: all the other sports were shut down. A lot of
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: them were shut down or, uh, having to practice really
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: intense methods during COVID, you know, he was able to
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: keep his sport going like, um, and so he would,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: he brought Trump to a lot of his events cause
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: they've been friends for a long time. And so I'd
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: met him there a couple of times. And then I
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: knew his brother died of alcoholism. So I was like, well,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: let me call him and let me ask Dana if,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: if Trump would ever talk about his brother. I didn't
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: know about it, you know, and just to see what
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: he's like, like, is he just all a business guy?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Does he think about other things?
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Cause when you're, you don't get a lot of, you
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: don't hear a lot about his feelings, Trump's feelings. And
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: if you do, he doesn't communicate it in a way
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: where it's very emotional to people. I don't feel like, right.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: So I was just curious about that. So yeah, I
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: called up Dana and he said, we'll make it happen.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: You know, and then two days later he called back
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: and he said, All good. Somebody from his group is
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: going to reach out to you.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: And you went to him, right?
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: And we went to him up in New Jersey, yeah.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: And we would have loved to have had Harris and
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Walls on. We're still trying to get Walls on. We
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: tried to get Harris on even after the election, but
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: they just didn't want to come.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Yeah. And so it was kind of a bummer, you know,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: because I think.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: It seems like that was a pretty big mistake. They
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: didn't go on a lot of the shows.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it would just let them be more normal.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I think people are– if something is too much behind
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: the glass these days, people don't trust the glass. I
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: don't even think that they don't trust the person behind
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: the glass. I think they just don't trust the fucking
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: glass if that makes any sense. Yeah.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: No, it does.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so I guess that was all kind of interesting.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I'm kind of out of sorts with the way that
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: they're handling, like, the Gaza-Palestine stuff. Like, that shit really,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I think, is insane to me. You know, but that's just,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: you know, you know, I don't know. That's just my thoughts.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: It's kind of an endless sort of, you know, quagmire
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: you can find yourself in once you start talking politics.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: In this world we're living in now because it's like,
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: you know, you go on the road, you do stand
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: up all around the country and, you know, everybody's sort
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: of divided in a way.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: And then you start sort of firmly choosing a side
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: and all of a sudden half the audience doesn't want
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: to have any fun anymore.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: So it's kind of like you got to be fine.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: We got to make these choices now, like, okay, well,
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: do I, do I want to give my opinion anymore
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: about what's going on in the world? Uh, you know,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: and then, you know, you have to choose one of
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: the set of opinions that are on this side or
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: the set of opinions that are all evenly and neatly
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: put on this side. And as soon as you state
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: your opinion about one of these issues that just happens
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: to be on this side, then anybody that doesn't agree
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: with you no longer wants to fuck with you and
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: come to your show or have a good time or
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: have a laugh with you. So it's just such a
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: shitty thing to have to deal with that, right? So
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: how do you kind of like juggle that? Because as
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: a Canadian, it's like right now in Canada, people are
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: pretty upset with Donald Trump because he's putting these tariffs
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: on Canada, right? And saying they're going to make us
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: a 51st state.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Saying they're going to annex Canada.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: People aren't too happy about the idea of being taken
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: over by the United States of America, doesn't it? It's
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: not something that people are super excited about hearing, you know? So,
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: you know, you kind of, you kind of go, it's
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: funny because I, sometimes I think like, well, I think
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: a lot of Americans who aren't, don't think about it
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: that much might think like, oh, Canada is going to
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: be the 51st state. I bet you everyone in Canada
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: must be really excited about being the 51st state of
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: the United States. But, you know, I'm kind of saying, well, no,
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: it'll probably be the first state in America that nobody
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: in it wants to be America, you know? So, uh, So, because,
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: you know, we've got our own country. It's not that
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: we don't love America. I love America, but we, you know,
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: we sort of have our entire different culture. You know,
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: you go to Canada all the time, right?
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. And I'm glad it's Canada.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: We're different, right? It's a different thing.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's different. You're nice to a.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: you know, people will be, somebody will walk across the
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: street in Canada and just come tell you they're sorry
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: and then go back across the street and then nothing
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: even happened.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: They're not even.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they just came off just to apologize.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: There's no even, you've never seen them before, you know?
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: But it's, Canada's the best. I think Canada gives me
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: hope for humanity a lot of times. It's good people,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: you know? Like, I love Canada. I wish that, there's
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: times I've wanted to be Canadian even.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: What's, do you remember the first time you went to Canada?
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Vancouver. Yeah, and was that somewhat recently? And I
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: slept at a brothel or a hostel. I slept at
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: a hostel.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah. How many years ago would that have been?
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: That was probably 15, 18 years ago, 17 years ago.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: And it was great, man. Had a great time.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: Were you doing stand-up there?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I hadn't started. I just almost started stand-up. I was doing,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I was traveling. I was left out of there on
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: a school, floating university. I left out of Vancouver called
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Semester at Sea.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: And it went around the globe and we left out
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: of Vancouver. But I went up to Whistler. I went
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: and caught a ride. Some guy took me hitchhiking up
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: to Whistler, right? Drove me up there. And the dude,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: the guy who drove me, He was a caretaker for
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Superman who had died.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Remember Superman who got in the wheelchair?
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Christopher Reeves.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: Christopher Reeves. He was his caretaker. Okay, okay.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: This guy Michael. And I think I met him. I
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: was at some shop right around there. And he was
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: saying he was in the area or something. He's like,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I'm taking the drive up to Whistler. I was like,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: can I roll with you?
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: He's like, yeah. So he took me up to Whistler, man,
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: brought me back. We stopped along the way, went on
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: some hikes and stuff.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: It was amazing.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: But I've always enjoyed Canada. I used to have a
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: dream that I would meet a wife in Toronto.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: But I went and did two weeks of comedy up there,
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: didn't meet anyone.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: Well, it could still happen for sure.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: It could still happen. Yeah.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Do you find the audiences react differently? They're great.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Halifax was one of my favorite shows I've ever had
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: in my life.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Dude, I even made– my little nephew made up this joke.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: He said– Oh, I told it on stage. I was like, yeah,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I heard one time that there wasn't any more fish
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: up here. And so they changed the name to No
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Fish Scotia. nobody laughed, right? It was fucking fun.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: That's why I'm laughing. Cause I can imagine the reaction.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: Sometimes there's something great when they don't laugh.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: No, sure.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: There's some little thing in there. It's like, Oh, that's
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: pretty good.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: You know, but, uh, but yeah, always had a great
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: love for Canada. I think it's bizarre that Trump would
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: say something like that.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: And it's also like, it just, but what do you
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: expect out of him?
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: And what do you expect about the media to spotlight
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: things and make it Whatever it is, even if it's
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: a seed of something to grow it into a million plants,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it's interesting. I think, you know, there's a
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: thing that's going on, the hockey games in Canada now
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: where the USA and Canada are playing and, you know.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, the four nations, right?
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, the Canadian fans were booing at the anthem, right?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: You know, sometimes I go like, well, I don't... You know,
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: based on the reaction on social media, I sort of
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: feel like maybe... not everybody in the U.S. necessarily understands
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: why that's happening. You know, they don't know it's about
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: the tariffs. You know, they're not booing the national anthem.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: They're booing this, the fact that these tariffs are being
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: put on, you know, which is going to, of course, devastate,
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: you know, the economy on both sides will suffer from that, right?
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: I'm sitting here like talking about it like I know
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: about it, you know?
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I should probably know more about it.
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: But it's like, you know, I think people are just
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: kind of like, why are you guys doing this to us,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: you know? So it's kind of an interesting thing. But
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: You want to talk about issues sometimes and then you go, okay,
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: I've just waded into this sort of hornet's nest and
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: I'm never going to hear the end of it. So
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: it is interesting. What was it when you're at the inauguration,
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: after the inauguration, where you're like kind of just– who
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: are you hanging out with there?
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I went– who did I meet? I met this kid,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Alexander Wang. We just had a podcast episode with him.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: He created this company called Scale AI. He's like this
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: AI– He's the youngest billionaire ever, this Chinese kid.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: From New Mexico.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Fascinating dude.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Self-made billionaire.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Self-made billionaire.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: So I ended up having lunch with him. That was
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: probably the neatest thing that happened that weekend.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Did he pick up the tab?
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I think I paid, actually.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: You paid?
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: I didn't know he was a billionaire.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh, yeah. That's why he's a billionaire. He's
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: letting everyone else pick up the tab.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: I was just happy to be dining with the Chinese,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: you know? Yeah, yeah. That's amazing. And, oh, it was great, man.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: And then who else? Something else happened at night. Oh,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I saw Wayne Gretzky lost his tooth.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: And then anything.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I saw Joe Rogan for a few minutes. I saw
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Tony Hinchcliffe from Kill Tony.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. And then that was kind of it. And
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: then I went home. It was too much, like too
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: hard to get around. Mm-hmm. I saw Lex Friedman. That
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: was pretty neat. I'd never met him. He's a podcaster.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I've met him at the Mothership before.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Oh, nice.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was just– that was kind of– those
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: were some of the neat parts of it.
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Just getting to see some different folks.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they're having issues.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Even in America, they're having– I just saw that there's
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: a part of Oregon that wanted to secede from Oregon.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: They're going to become Canada's 11th province. Yeah, good.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: I would love it if we started trading pieces of
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: our- Start trading. Now that I'm totally for.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: New York and California, come join Canada and- Take one
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: of them. You guys can take, I'm not going to
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: say who you guys can take, but because we- No, I.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Know who you're talking about, dude.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: I've got to be political.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Sacre bleu.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: That's all I'll say, brother.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: No, no, just be in Quebec, actually. Je parle français.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: I lived in Quebec a lot in my life.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: You did?
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so I grew up in Quebec, so I love Quebec, yeah.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: You must have been up to the Montreal Festival over
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: the years.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we went there a couple times.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: I love Quebec.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: It's fun.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Edmonton. We got some other places we want to
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: go to. Calgary and Ottawa and Winnipeg we're going to
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: go to this year.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: So when you're in Ottawa... Maybe if you're rolling past
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: the farm and the tour bus, come by the farm
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: and we'll go ride some mules or something.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: How far outside of town are you guys?
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: About like an hour or so.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: So sort of not too far, you know. I'll come
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: pick you up in my pickup truck. We'll go hang out.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Do you think you'll have a.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Now that you're kind of feeling settled out there, do
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: you start thinking about starting a family or no?
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely. I'm getting married, so knock on wood, everything
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: goes well with that. And maybe there'll be some– we'll see.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: We'll have to ask my fiancée.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: I think she would want to do that.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to include her.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: Yes, yes, for sure. No, I think that's a possibility
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: for sure.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: For a while, did you think that that wasn't going
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: to be a part of your life?
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: I was starting to question whether or not it was
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: going to be part of my life because, you know,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: I mean, I think you kind of alluded to this earlier.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: You know, you want to, you know, if you're going
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: to get married, you want to get married to somebody
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: that you, you know, love and actually think that this could,
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: you know, last forever, right? I was starting to question
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: whether or not that was maybe possible. You know, I
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: wasn't sure if that was possible anymore to find somebody
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: that I thought would last forever with. But, you know,
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: when I met Amanda, she's outside. I hope I'm getting
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: some brownie points here. But I realized this is the one,
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: So, but it's, you know, until you meet that person,
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: you know, it does start to feel kind of like, geez,
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: this is getting a little kind of, you know, uncertain here.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, like I'm just watering.
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So, but.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's how I think about it.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Cause I think when you're younger, like you have this
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: feeling of like this young love energy type of thing.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: And that starts to, it feels, that feels less possible
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: the older we get kind of, you know, it just
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: starts to dissipate or it's like, oh, well I just,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I'm too wise now or I've had too much experience
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: now that I'm never going to have that sort of
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: like whimsical feeling of like, you know, that a 17
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: year old or a 23 year old would have, you know?
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: But it's nice to know that that can kind of,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: sneak up and surprise you, you know?
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: I think kind of, I mean, I think being home
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: where I'm from helped, you know, because it's like, I
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: don't know. I mean, if you're not from Los Angeles,
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: then it's kind of a weird place. If you're from
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Los Angeles, it's normal. But if you're not from Los Angeles,
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: you know, it's kind of a weird place. So, you know,
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: you're here probably focused on your career and your work
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: and so many other people are, it's kind of hard to,
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: I think, find a good, I'm not saying it's impossible,
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: but it seems like it is kind of harder in
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: this environment to find somebody that you can, I mean,
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: I don't know. Are people watching going, are we going
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: to be taking relationship advice from me? I don't know.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: I don't know if that's.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: No, it does make me think that I think there's
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: this feeling in LA that if you meet somebody, you're
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: going to have to eventually get them to leave here, right?
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I've always felt that thing like, well, if I met somebody,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: would they ever leave here with me? Because I'm not
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: going to stay here forever.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: That's exactly what I was trying to say.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: So that I think is a, yeah, I think that's
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: totally common.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: But you said you don't live here full time now?
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: I live in Tennessee. I moved during the pandemic too.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: In Nashville?
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Oh, cool.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I moved during the pandemic. What was true?
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Whenever Trump was talking about Canada, what was, can you
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: bring it up, Nick? I just want to know what
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: he even was saying. Like, what were they threatening? They
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: were threatening the tariff. Canadian goods, just so our listeners
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: can know what exactly was even going on.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: They're going to put a tariff on everything. You know,
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Canada is the largest trading partner of the United States. Nice.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: And so much of the goods that come into the
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: United States from Canada are being brought in by American
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: businesses to, you know, like wood. You bring wood and
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: lumber in to build houses, right? So when you put...
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: 25% tariff on lumber.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Flannel.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Flannel. If you're a big flannel company making flannel pajamas,
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: all of a sudden flannel pajamas are going to be
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: 25% more expensive. So it's really going to affect businesses
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: on both sides of the border, obviously, not just Canada,
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: but also everything will go up in price. So– and
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: I'm not exactly sure the reason for it to be
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: honest with you. He was really saying they weren't helping
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: out with border security. Yeah. And that's what the 30
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: days– Probation period, they did put a bunch of people
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: at the border. Absolutely. I don't think there's a real
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: border security problem between Canada and the United States though.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: It's the hardest country to get into in the world
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: I think is Canada. Yeah.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: I mean it's– Going that way there isn't. That's for sure.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: Yeah. It's– the claim that there's fentanyl coming into the
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: United States from Canada I think is a little bit
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: exaggerated because I don't really think that that's actually the case.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: Something like a very small amount is coming in from Canada.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Tariffs are a central part of Trump's economic plans. He
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: promised to introduce import duties against some of America's main
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: trade partners during his election campaign. He said tariffs will
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: boost U.S. manufacturing and protect jobs as well as raising
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: tax revenue and growing the economy.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Fentanyl is linked to tens of thousands of overdose deaths.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Taking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China responsible.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: accountable to their promise of halting illegal immigration and stopping
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: It just seems kind of vague.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's sort of like a... But like,
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: what would you do?
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Like, I'm trying to say, say if you bring a
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: bunch of stuff into my country, right? Say if you
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: and I live in different countries and you bring a
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: bunch of stuff into my country or I bring a
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: bunch of stuff into your country, and then you say, okay,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I'm going to tax that more, I'm going to charge
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: you more to bring that in, if you don't help
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: stop the fentanyl that's coming in, I just, I don't know,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: how would you then do that? What would you then,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: on your side, would you say, okay, we'll put more, what,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: drug dogs and security along the border?
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I think that's what they're, I think that's what he's
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: asking them to do. You know, and I think we
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: already do have, again, I'm not, I know I'm not
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: a representative of the Canadian government, but I do, I
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: do think that we already do have a lot of
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: There's only so much you can do to seal off
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: a border, right? And I don't think there is that
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: much fentanyl coming in from Canada, really.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: I'd never heard that that was a thing before.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it mostly does come in from the
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: southern border.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: That's what I would think.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I wonder if maybe you guys got grandfathered into some
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: late-night Trump rhetoric there.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: It feels a little bit like that, but hopefully it'll
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: resolve itself. I do think that it's probably going to
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: end up causing a lot of economic problems on both
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: sides of the border and probably– They may not go
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: for it.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: It was sports exciting for a while, though.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: That's the side effect of it.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: It was a good fight right off the top of
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: the game the other day. It was pretty cool. We
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: like a good hockey fight, so that's cool.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: And it is nice when countries sometimes don't get along
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: a little bit in sports, right?
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: I've always admired that. Yeah.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: That's one thing I don't like about the NBA anymore.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: All the players, it just seems like they all know
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: each other. Nobody's really playing for their squad sometimes.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: So I like a little bit more of that animosity.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: Even more fights in the NBA. Physical fights. Yeah, look
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: at that.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Oh, definitely.
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: I believe both those players are American, too. I'm not
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: sure how quickly your researcher can tell us that. But
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: even though the Canadian team....
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Canada didn't get the win in this game. I know that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Maybe that's not true at all, what I just said.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: I don't think Canada got the win in this game.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: But that's okay.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Yeah, we lost the game, absolutely, which is really kind of...
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: I know. But it is nice to see everybody having
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: a good time watching a hockey fight, for sure.
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Absolutely. You know, so.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: What else did I see in the news that I
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: just saw was happening?
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: It was that contraception begins at erection now.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: So there's a law that they're pushing.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Ohio Democratic lawmakers propose conception begins at erection.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: So they're trying to put it on the men a
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: little bit more.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: So what exactly are they going to do about this now?
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Well, a new bill in Ohio would make it a
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: crime for men to ejaculate without intending to have a baby.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: Oh, wow. That's definitely something that I could see A
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: lot of people probably would be guilty of for sure.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: Hey, shoot is shoot, you know? Yeah.
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: Yeah. I could see that being, I mean, I don't
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: want to get in too much personal detail, but I
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: think I'd probably be locked up for a long time.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Hey, yeah. Oh, we're going to visit Tom this weekend again.
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: Yeah. He's behind bars.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: Yeah, my gosh.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: I thought he was going to get paroled.
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: Plenty of time to break the law in jail, though.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: And they put a monitor like wraps around your wiener
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: and it just like, it just goes off if it
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: gets too hard.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: Now, I'm assuming this is a parody site, but the
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: world's so crazy right now that I'm actually asking this
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: for real. Is this a real article? This is a
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: real article right there.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Yep. Let's zoom in on. I'm going to read it
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: Okay. So this is not The Onion or something like
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: that or Mad Magazine or something?
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: No, this is one of those good radishes that they
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: have out there.
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: Conception– and it rhymes nicely too. Conception begins at erection act.
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: I mean it's a nice rhyme to it, which is
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: also nice.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: If you're going to penalize someone for an unwanted pregnancy,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: why not penalize the person who is also responsible for
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: the pregnancy? Now, I can't say I don't agree with this.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: It's like then you're going to have a lot more people.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: $ 10, 000 per discharge.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: But here's the thing.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Some dudes are just running around, skeeting or whatever they
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: call it, and I don't know what they call it
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: in different countries, but they're not going to have an
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: extra 10K on them. You're going to have– the court
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: system would be filled with every kid in the world,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: every 14-year-old kid.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: I mean I'm assuming– I don't know how much I
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: want to talk about this in detail with you.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Look, I'm going to say you don't get pregnant on
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: your own. Representative Anita Somani– Democrat Dublin said.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: A felony for men to discharge semen without the intent
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: to fertilize. That is an amazing, amazing idea. I mean,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: I actually would love to see that sort of applied
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: that law just to see what would happen. I mean,
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: it would be interesting to see what would happen.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: It's genital communism in a way, I guess.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: It's genital communism.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: She introduced legislation that would make it a felony to
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: discharge semen without the intent to fertilize. So, Monty and
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: State Representative Tristan Rader joined forces to propose a bill
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: nicknamed Conception Begins the Direction. There are some exceptions, such
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: as when protection or contraception are used during sex. It
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: also wouldn't apply when an individual is masturbating.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Donating sperm.
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: Lots of relief.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: Or if the intercourse has taken place between members of
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: the LGBT plus community.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: And thus doesn't produce ova.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: So gay people would be able to just jerk off
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: on each other, and they don't suffer any of the consequences.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: But if a couple of straights get caught, you know, discharging.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: This is unfair on so many levels.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: Well, it's just, it's beyond ridiculous what's going on here.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Republican activist Austin Beigel laughed. It's a mockery of the
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: most basic biological conceptions.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: And now I still, I'm sort of, kind of can't
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: believe this is a real article.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Well, I think their purpose in this was saying, if
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: you think it's absurd to regulate men, then you should
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: think it's equally absurd to regulate women.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: So Mani responded.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: I'm guessing that there was an original idea that.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: I see, I see.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Okay, of course, yeah.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: About taking on reproductive rights for women.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: So, huh. I don't know, man.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: It's a good idea.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: I'd run up a tab, I know that.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: They're making a valid point when you put it that way, absolutely.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: I'd run up a tab.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Um, did you, when you hosted SNL, what was that
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: like for, do you recall kind of some of the
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: energy of that night?
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: It was, it was, uh, a wild, somewhat terrifying experience. Um,
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: you know, I, um, I had just gone through some pretty,
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: I'd gone through, just gone.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Through surgery, like from testicular cancer. Yeah.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: Yeah. And I'd had this lymph node dissection and I
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: was kind of like It had affected my sort of
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: energy levels a lot. So it was kind of– there
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: was a lot going on in my life when I
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: actually got the call to do that show and to
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: do Saturday Night Live. And, you know, it was really
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: cool though. The thing that was cool about it was,
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: you know, Lorne Michaels, who's Canadian, and I was just
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: so kind of sort of– kind of sort of overwhelmed
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: that I was asked to do it, right? And I
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: had a couple of friends who I grew up with
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: who worked on my show with me and I said,
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: you know, can they come in and like kind of
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: work with me and do some– help write some skits
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: and stuff. So they gave us a little office and
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: that stuff. We went and then we were sort of
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: writing skits up and everything. And, you know, they actually
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: kind of ended up giving– me a lot of kind
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: of creative freedom on the show to kind of write
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: sketches and stuff. And, um, you know, in hindsight, I
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: kind of wish they hadn't.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: No. Like they had just written them themselves? Yeah.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Well, cause, cause we really kind of made some really
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: weird fucking sketches, you know, and I think maybe it
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: would have been cool if I, maybe I'd just gone
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: in and done the stuff that they had written. But like,
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: I was, I was sort of definitely, you know, Freddy
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Got Fingered hadn't come out yet. So like I was
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: still kind of riding high on this hit show and
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: we commented and we said, okay, now let's write some
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: crazy sketches, right? And I mean the stuff we wrote
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: was really, really weird, you know?
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: And– Were you intent on making it weird?
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: I think we were, yeah.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Like how weird can we make this? It's SNL. Let's
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: make it ours.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I think so. I think so. And sometimes I think
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: there was a misperception maybe among some of the cast
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: that I brought my own writers in, which wasn't really
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: the case. It was more like it was my buddies
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: and they'd come up with me with the show. It
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: was kind of like we were– when we made the
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: show in Canada, some of my friends came down with me.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: To the States to– Like this is part of the team.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: It's not just Tom Brady.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: I want them to be included in the show. So
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: we kind of went in and did that. But I
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: mean it's– it was an amazingly exciting experience. I mean
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: my parents were there on stage with me. It was
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: one of those things where you kind of can't believe
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: that you actually– that it actually happened while it was happening.
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: And I did a lot of sketches with Will Ferrell.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: One of the, like, here's an example of something that I,
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: I wouldn't say I regret this, but like, uh, but, um,
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: I kind of regret this. Um, so, so there was a,
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: there was a sketch where I'm a wizard and I'm
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: holding a pig, like an actual pig. And, uh, and
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: it was Molly Shannon and Will and I'm a wizard.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: And I didn't really have any lines in the sketch
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: or many lines in the sketch. It was mostly Will
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: and Molly were doing this, uh, sketch and But I
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: noticed during rehearsal that if I just kind of lightly
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: sort of tickled the pig's belly with my finger, that
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: it would start to squeal extremely loud, right? And so
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: I did that once during rehearsal, and then somebody said, oh,
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: you better not, you know, she'll squeal if you touch
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: her belly. And so I said, okay. And there's a
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: rehearsal show, and then there's the actual show, right? And,
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: you know, I kind of maybe regret this, but I
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: did note that okay, let's get through the rehearsal show,
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: but then live, I'm going to make that pig squeal, right?
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, sister. So it did kind of— Sorry, I
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: made pig. No, but it was kind of— it kind of
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: threw the sketch off.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: A little bit. You just fucking kept squealing that?
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: I realized that it did kind of throw the rhythm
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: of the comedy off a little bit, but— How.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: Many times did you squeal it?
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: It just sort of became sort of a bit of
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: a mess, right?
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: And were you getting a squeal every time he touched
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: his belly or did you have to really?
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: No, I just had to kind of just lightly sort
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: of pet her there and she.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: Would just try.
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: But it was amusing to me, but I'm not sure
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: if anybody else enjoyed it that much.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: My sister's like that.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: If you touch her lunch, you know, she fucking gets
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: a little animated. If you grab any of her Takis
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: out of her little dish.
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: It was like that. Yeah. So, but, you know, it
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: was an amazing experience. I was total honor to be
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: able to do it.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: You know, I mean, I, you know, it was cool.
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: I mean, the cast was Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell,
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Anna Gasteyer, Tracy Morgan. And, you know,
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: you know, there was, it's a weird environment like Saturday
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: Night Live, especially when you're young and you don't really know, like,
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: you know, we were talking earlier about like going to,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: you're talking about going to Chris Rock's party and like
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: you'd didn't know how to act or whatever because there's
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: all these people here and it's kind of complicated yeah
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: so you're getting thrust into an environment like that and
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: then it's even as the host it sort of felt
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: like kind of a competitive environment because you know all
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: the cast members are trying to write sketches and get
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: them on the air everyone every week and and i
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: didn't really know how it worked really at the time
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: in hindsight i now realize how it works and i
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: We might have done things differently, but when we were
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: trying to put these sketches on the air that we
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: were writing, maybe that was kind of pushing another sketch
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: off and we didn't really– I wasn't really thinking of
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: it like that. So it kind of created– it's kind
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: of a weird environment. The more I kind of sort
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: of hear people on podcasts who have been on the
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: show talk about the show, it seems like everybody has
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: gone through that experience who has been on that show
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: where it's very competitive and stressful for people. That makes
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: me feel a little bit. better about my experience there because,
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: you know, it was kind of, you know, a stressful experience,
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: you know, because you know everybody's going to be watching
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: the show, it's live, and, you know, I'm, you know,
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: you're doing all this weird stuff that's not necessarily You know,
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: I'm a little bit out of my element. I didn't
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: do sketch comedy.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's scary.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: So it was, but it was cool. It was cool.
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: It sounds like it's par for the course a little.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Because, yeah, I mean, even Adam Sandler the other night
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: was singing. He had a musical tribute that he did
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: to the 50 years. And he referenced a couple times
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: about people having sketches that they wrote that didn't get
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: on the show. So I think that seems like it
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: was just a weekly occurrence. And, of course, you want
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: to go in there with a little bit more comfort
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: zone for yourself. You know, it's like, yeah, if we
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: can write a couple of them or we can, have
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: some manipulation over them.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: It's probably going to make you feel more comfortable, you know?
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: Another thing that was weird that happened on the show.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: So like, so there was a sketch that I did.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: It's called a sketch like I did with Will Ferrell
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: where we're both dressed as eagles. And this was one
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: of the ones that my friends and I wrote. Okay.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: It's sort of hard to sort of say that we
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: wrote it, but the sketch was, you know, Jimmy Fallon
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: and Molly Shannon are looking at, Will and I, who
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: are eagles, right? We wrote this out, by the way,
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: on paper and handed it in and then they said
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: to do it. And then Will and I decide to
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: fly up into the audience, okay? And I thought it
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: would be fun to go in the audience. So we
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: fly into the audience and then we chew up carrots
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: and then I believe Will chews up a carrot and
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: I believe he sort of spits the carrot into my
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: mouth and then kind of We end up sort of...
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: Because you know how baby birds will chew up the
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: food and feed it. Mother birds will chew up the
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: food and make it easier for the baby to eat.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: So this was the sketch we did.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: But so... Oh, God. So somehow I kind of maybe
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: probably would have been better if we just kind of
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: did the sketches that their writers had written.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: And these are both males, huh?
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Yeah. So we're doing this. Yeah, exactly. So we're doing this.
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: What zoo is that at? That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: That's the West Hollywood Aquarium right there, brother. I'll tell
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: you that, huh?
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: So we're doing this sketch, this skit. And so, you know,
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: when you host the show, you got to run to
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: get ready for the next sketch because you got to
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: take off your eagle costume and put on another costume, right?
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: And so I'm running down the stairs and I'm running
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: through the backstage area and just sitting in the darkness,
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: you know, just backstage, Tom Hanks is just sitting there
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: in front of a monitor watching the show. And I'm
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: in the eagle costume. I'd just done that. I make
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: eye contact with Tom Hanks. So now I'm like, oh,
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: I was already kind of nervous. Now, like, I got...
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: Tom Hanks in the, in the dark watching. And I'm
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: going like, how did that Eagle sketch go? You know,
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: and I'm sort of getting ready for the next sketch.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: Not sure how the Eagle sketch went and Tom Hanks
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: is watching. So it kind of throws you a little bit,
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: but then there's a big after party after the show.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: And Tom Hanks was real nice. And he, you know,
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: was hanging out, talking to my parents and stuff. And
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: so it was pretty cool. But no, it was an
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: amazing thing. It's a, It's the kind of thing, though,
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: like it's kind of like you go, geez, it would
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: be nice to be able to do it again someday
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: because I think like doing it the first time is
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: sort of so– I don't know that that would ever happen.
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: But probably in an alternate universe, I might be able
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: to do it again someday. But like you go, OK,
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: I sort of understand how the system of it works now.
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: And it would be probably– I probably would not have
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: done that.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: Yeah but also it's great that you did though it's
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: so epic yeah and yeah i think you're right about
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: that's like a lot of things in life you're like
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: man i wish i had gotten a trial run or
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: i had a little bit of an idea of how
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: the feelings were or what the energy was like in
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: that space or that room or like man there's been
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: things you go out on a stage part of a
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: show or a banquet some type of thing and you
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: you just play play the room totally wrong you know
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: that didn't seem like that but there's definitely times like
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: that in life and you wish you're like man i
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: wish i had get one more swing at it.
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And you know, I think that, uh, you know, that, uh,
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: generally you can at least take those lessons and apply
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: them to something else.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: So yeah.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: Did, um, was Michael Jackson there whenever you guys played?
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Who was y'all's musical guest?
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: Uh, no, it was not Michael Jackson, but that would
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: have been amazing if it was Michael Jackson. No, it
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: was David Gray. Uh, but, um, Man, it would have
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: been amazing. No, nothing against David Gray, but have you
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: ever had Michael Jackson?
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: I've seen David Gray play.
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: Have you ever interacted with Michael Jackson in any way?
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: No.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: No, that would have been amazing. But yeah, he was great.
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: I would love to see....
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: Another weird thing that happened on the show. Michael Jackson.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: One thing that was weird that happened on the show.
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: So I was backstage getting ready for the... I don't
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: even know if I should tell this story. I don't
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: even know if I should tell this story. Maybe it's not...
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: Let's talk about something else.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: It's a weird story.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: No worries. Yeah, Tom Hanks was here the other night.
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: I didn't get to see him. Oh, I got to
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: see Madonna. She's little.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: Okay. Where was that?
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: Such a little baby carrot. What? She was at that
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: SNL thing.
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Yeah. That's cool.
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: It was just interesting.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: So were you chatting with Madonna?
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: I don't even know what I would say. She's quite
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: interesting on TikTok these days. Oh, is she? She does
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: some pretty sort of... Out there stuff on her TikTok.
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: I got to follow her. I got to check her out.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: When you have these, you beat cancer, right? Has it
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: flared back up? What's that been like?
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: No, it's completely gone.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: Did they have to take out one of your gonads
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: or not?
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: One testicle, yeah. My right testicle and some lymph nodes
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: as well.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: And what are the lymph nodes like? Is that actually
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: in the testicle or is that in the body?
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: No, the lymph nodes are actually behind your intestines and
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: they have to like, they cut me up here and
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: they had to remove those. And that was just to
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: check to see if the cancer had spread into them.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: And, you know, the only way they could really check
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: and know for 100% sure if it had spread was
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: to take them out and look at them under a
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: microscope and stuff. So, So they had not spread. So
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: then that meant I did not have to have chemo
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: and stuff. But they did take my right testicle, which
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: was honestly, like when I found out, the show was
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: on MTV at the time.
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: And you have it still.
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I did not keep it like. indefinitely, but that
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: is it in a plastic bag right there.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: Um, how many ounces is it? Do you know?
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: I don't remember weighing it exactly, but I know it's
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: quite heavy for sure.
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: Oh, hell yeah. I can give you that. But, uh, yeah, no,
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: we don't have no light testicles around here.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: But, uh, we filmed the whole, uh, the whole, um,
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: sort of, uh, surgery, uh, and, For a show on MTV.
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: That's actually the whole show there, the Cancer Special, which
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: is on YouTube. But you'd see my documentary on Prime
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: too where it kind of walks through that whole– that's
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: Glenn Humplick who is my friend and co-host on the show.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: And here he is sort of after my surgery coming
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: down and playing with my testicle. A little bit of
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: sashimi there. Yeah, it's a little sashimi. Yeah, that's what
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: he says. It sort of looks like chicken. And then
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: my mom says, I don't know what kind of chicken
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: you're eating. Yeah, so that is my cancer-infected testicle right there.
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: But I still have the left one. It's the middle
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: one now.
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: I can still ejaculate just a little. No, it's pretty good, actually.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: Heck yeah, dude. It's going to cost you 10 grand
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: if you drive over to Ohio and do it. I'll
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: tell you that, bro. Look, why would you stop in Mishawaka?
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: Only five grand for me. Oh, yeah, that's true. Which
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: is a benefit in Ohio, to have a testicular cancer.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: You can kind of.
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: God, brother. The tariffs they would rack up, they'd make
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: a million bucks a night in that state. That's not
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: a bad idea.
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: No, not a bad idea, for sure.
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: Did you ever wear a prosthetic testicle?
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: It was offered, and I refused to do it. Not refused,
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: but I just sort of... opted out on the prosthetic.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: Did you ever look at them at least?
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: I think I did. Yeah, I think I did. This was,
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: you know, 20 years ago. But I'd heard, the doctor
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: kind of said, you know, a lot of people get them,
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: don't like it. They say it kind of sort of
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: feels weird or whatever. So I just figured, no, I
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: don't need one. So, you know, but I mean, I
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: don't know how much you want to talk about my
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: ball sack, but I mean, it doesn't really seem that
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: much different like down there. Like, I mean.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: Oh, I could imagine that too. As you're talking.
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: It kind of all just kind of sort of morphs
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: into kind of like a, Cause like the, like the, the, um,
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: like they don't like, um, like, um, they don't actually
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: like go through the scrotum to get the testicle. You
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: know that? Like they don't actually cut the scrotum.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: No, they go in, they cut you like up, sort
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: of up, up here, like on your, like under your,
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: your pubics hair kind of thing.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: Under your pubes.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: They go in there and then they kind of go
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: in and they just sort of shuck it out like
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: an oyster from above.
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: So it's sort of not really. the scrotum is completely intact.
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: There's not some sort of scarred scrotum or anything. I
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: don't have a scarred up scrotum.
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: It's totally normal scrotum.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: Yeah, good.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: Yeah. There's a little scar up here, but I'd had
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: a hernia operation before when I was younger, so they
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: just went through the same thing. So it's like you wouldn't...
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: Just a little scar there. Yeah, so.
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: A lot of hernias in Canada too. What country has
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: the most hernias, you think?
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: Yeah. That is interesting. I never thought about that. But
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: is there a lot in Canada?
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: A lot of my friends in Canada have had hernias.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: A lot of your friends in Canada have had hernias, really?
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just wondering.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: I'd be curious to see if there's more in Canada.
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: That would be certainly an interesting statistic for sure.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: According to available data, countries in South Asia and sub-Saharan
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: Africa tend to have the highest prevalence of hernias, particularly
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: in regions with lower socioeconomic status, with countries like India
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: and parts of Tanzania showing significantly higher rates compared to
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: high-income nations. This is largely due to factors like limited
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: access to health care and higher rates of manual labor.
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: I gave myself a hernia on my show, live on
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: the public. It was on the public access version of
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: the show years before we were on MTV.
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: And.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: It was kind of a strange episode, probably one of
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: the weirder ones where we said, okay, I'm going to
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: break the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest fingernails.
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: Have you ever seen those?
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. We used to see them all the time.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: This is a strange bit. And the Chinese kid on
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: the bikes, remember that?
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: That world record book? Yeah.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: They'd have a 15 or 16, a whole just a
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: starter pack of Asians all hanging off a bike.
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: Exactly. So for whatever reason, this doesn't even sound like
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: it could even possibly make sense to describe it, but
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: The idea was, okay, I'm going to, it was Glenn
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: and myself. It's a live show. It was on community cable,
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: you know, it's not on a big network, you know,
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: so it was sort of late at night. And we said, okay,
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: what we're going to do is we're going to try
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: to break the record for longest fingernails. And I had
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: a bunch of milk, calcium, and I set it up
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: all very seriously. And then I start drinking milk. And
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: then for the entire hour, I just basically drank milk
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: and kind of stared at my fingernails for an hour.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: and didn't do anything, right? Just kind of progressively got
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: a little bit more kind of sort of weird. And
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: then towards the end of the show, I kind of
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: stood up and started thrashing around sort of somewhat violently.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: I don't know. There's no real logical reason for it.
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: It was like a milk overdose or something. And I
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: started doing this thrashing and I hit the desk and
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: I flipped the desk over and And I felt something
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: pop in my abdomen. And then we went off the
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: air and I went up to the bathroom and my
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: intestine was like pushing out through my abdomen. And went
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: to the hospital and I had given myself a hernia.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: So that's how that happened.
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: Was that probably the worst accident you ever endeared?
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: No. The worst one ever was just two years ago.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: I stepped on a fire in– on the beach in
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: Costa Rica.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: The old fire step, huh?
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: It had been buried under sand. And I walked up
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: to this bonfire and the edge of the fire had
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: been buried and my foot went into it. And yeah,
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: I got third degree burns on both my feet.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: I thought that was.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: A couple to-go sandwiches. Yeah, no. Yeah, that was maybe
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: the worst. And that was just three years ago. I
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: almost lost my foot You.
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: Just had to lay in bed for a while, huh?
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: For 10 days in a Costa Rican hospital, and then
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: I was medevaced on an air ambulance back to Canada, actually,
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: and spent another week and a half in the hospital there. And, yeah,
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: my foot's pretty messed up right now, but it's better.
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: It's better. Not 100%, but I've had a few good injuries. Oh,
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: there they go. There they are. Yeah. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: You found the unedited version.
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that, that, wow, look at that. Yeah, it was,
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: and look at this, the top of my foot. Wow.
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: The bottom of the foot ain't good either.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: Those are sexy. I'll spend 10 grand on those things, huh?
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: Look out, Ohio.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Jeez, yeah, my God.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, those are my feet right there. That
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: was just, that was maybe coming up on three years
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: ago now. So yeah, that was, that was maybe the
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: worst injury ever. So yeah, that's it.
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: So the show that you have now, you have the
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: special that's out.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. It all came out just a few weeks ago.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: The 28th or something, when was it?
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: And it's all on Amazon Prime.
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: On Prime. This is the Tom Green documentary. And then
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: the stand-up special. It's called I Got a Mule.
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: I Got a Mule.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: I'm talking about my life on the farm and getting
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: my mule. And then the show, which is a four-episode
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: sort of series of me moving to the farm called
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: Tom Green Country. And I recorded all the music for
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: the show as well. There's a country album that I
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: put out, which is the soundtrack for the show, which
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: is called Home to the Country, which is on Spotify.
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: It's called what?
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: It's called Home to the Country. Home to the Country.
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: It's the name of the album. And that's out on music,
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: wherever you get music now. And then I'm on tour.
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: I'm actually on tour. I'm getting back in the camper
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: van and we're going to start do a little bit
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: more camping and touring around with my fiance up through
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: the desert. And then- And then we'll be picking up
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: the tour again March 14th in Colorado. It'll be Colorado Springs, Aspen,
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: upwards to, you know, up through, where are we going? Indianapolis, St. Louis.
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: All the dates are on my website, but Chicago. So
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: touring and driving back to Canada. And then I'll be
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: riding my mule all summer. When are you in Ottawa?
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: I'm going to be in Ottawa, I'm not sure actually.
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: I think sometime before the, I guess May maybe.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Oh, cool, cool.
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: But I have to let you know before.
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna come.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: It'd be so cool to come see the farm. Do
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: you think like with a lot of the new stuff
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: you're shooting now or some of the stuff that I
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: see on your YouTube channel, it's a little bit more
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: artistic in some way. I don't know if that's a word. Yeah.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: It's definitely like not, uh, something that I expect to
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: really go viral in a lot of ways because it's
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: like very long form stuff that I just really like
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: shooting like that. I, I mean.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Do you notice you like almost, it almost seems like
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: it's almost like you'd want to shoot like a feature,
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: like a movie.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: I can't tell, you know, I don't know.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: Cause you know, sometimes we have things that start to
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: happen and then it becomes something else, you know? But
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: when I'm watching it, I feel like I'm getting into a,
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: I'm getting into a world.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: That's what it feels like. Yeah.
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: That's cool. That's cool. I mean, like to know that
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: you've watched it cause it sort of is sort of,
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: It's not like a mainstream comedy sort of piece that
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: I'm putting on my YouTube channel right now. It's, you know,
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: I want to kind of just capture what it feels
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: like being out in the desert and in these amazing
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: places or being on the farm with the animals. And so,
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: you know, I like shooting and capturing images that are
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: sort of calming and beautiful. And it is the kind
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: of thing that... You know, the show's not like that.
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: The show is, there's a lot more going on, but
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: there is something nice about just kind of putting it
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: on and sitting back and just kind of like, it's
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: like an ASMR type of thing.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it feels like. It's like ASMR for
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: your eyes kind of.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So it's interesting. I mean, I think a
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: lot of it started just as me kind of like
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: really trying to experiment with the cameras and just trying
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: to figure out how to make these cameras work and
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: capture the sort of the cinematography the way I want
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: to capture it. And I think that maybe it may
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: evolve into something a little bit more faster paced at
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: some point. But right now, it's just a lot of
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: this sort of slice of life stuff that I put
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: up on the YouTube channel. And I have a podcast
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: that I do one episode every six months or something
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: like that. I might start doing the podcast again and
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: putting that up to kind of give people something a
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: little bit more familiar to watch. But right now, yeah,
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: that's what it is. And I just– I kind of–
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: just enjoy taking people to these places. I mean, I
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: find it interesting that like, you know, everything's so fast
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: paced now. Like, you know, everything is so, people's attention
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: spans are so short now that it's kind of interesting
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: to sort of do something that's kind of not that.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: And again, it's not the algorithm doesn't really work in
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: its favor. You have to say something shocking within the
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: first 10 seconds and then put some words on the
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: screen and do all these things that you can do
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: to really capture large audiences. But if you do watch it,
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: you sort of do kind of get sucked into a
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: little secret universe in a way. There's even little messages
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: sometimes I'll put like 45 minutes into a video that
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: will know, if you made it that far, you know,
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: then you might say something in the comments and then
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: I'll know that you actually watched 45 minutes. And so
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: there is a lot of people that do get it,
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: you know, which is fun and it's kind of neat to,
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: you know, it's impossible to capture the energy of what
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: it's like out there in nature. by doing something fast-paced
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: because so much of what's amazing about it is just
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: the calm stillness of it all. So that's what it
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: is on the YouTube channel. It's a bit different, but.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: I think people are as desperate for that as they've
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: ever been in some ways. I think things have gotten.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: We're operating at a speed that we don't even feel
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: comfortable in sometimes, you know? Our brains are having to.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: But yeah, that's what it feels like.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: It feels like some type of an ASMR or some...
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: It feels calming, man.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: That's what it feels like.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: And yeah, I'm just curious because you're always... You've just
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: always been a creator, you know? You're just always creating.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: You're always finding some way to, I.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: Don't know if it's in fact, to incite, to get
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: a reaction out of people.
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: In some type of way.
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: Yeah. It's cool. It's weird today because there's so much
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: energy online, like so much craziness and pranks and just,
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: you know, like, you know, just the insanity that you
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: can see every day on your phone. Like before you
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: get out of bed, you're just like, you know, if
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: you pick up your phone and you get that in
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: your head too early in your day, your whole day
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: could be just kind of, but.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: You started it. Well, that was just crazy, but it's okay.
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: It's not a judgment.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: You know, technology was changing at the same time.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: But we're glad you did, man. We're glad you did, man. Tom,
