- 0:00Speaker 1: What it do. We're back again, the grounded show with
- 0:03Speaker 1: the boy Joe. You already enough back in studio, just
- 0:07Speaker 1: finished the move I mean, bro, life as an adventure man,
- 0:11Speaker 1: life has been life in but you know, we're back.
- 0:14Speaker 2: There's one thing that doesn't stop is this movement. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: think we need to elaborate a little bit on the
- 0:21Speaker 2: feel good night facts. Can we talk about that real quick?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yeah? Man, we had We had the R and B
- 0:28Speaker 1: kickback last month and of m last Thursday of every month. Man,
- 0:32Speaker 1: it was insane. Like I'm not even exaggerating when I
- 0:35Speaker 1: say we did ten times what they normally do on
- 0:38Speaker 1: a Thursday. So that was really encouraging. I mean we
- 0:41Speaker 1: started at six before seven, it was already jumping.
- 0:44Speaker 2: And yeah, feel good. Like I said, it's a great
- 0:48Speaker 2: environment on Thursdays, Normally there's two or three people in there.
- 0:52Speaker 2: We had at least thirty forty people in there now
- 0:54Speaker 2: facts consistently, We're gonna keep it going. We might venture
- 0:58Speaker 2: off and do more, maybe because R and B will
- 1:01Speaker 2: be the last Thursday very month. Yes, sir, we might
- 1:04Speaker 2: bring a lot of you know, I mean.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, man, there's definitely a lot of cool opportunities there
- 1:09Speaker 1: shout out to Clint Man. We've been chopping it up.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's been a good vibe. It's rare that you find
- 1:14Speaker 1: a space to do stuff at that. The people that
- 1:17Speaker 1: own it and run it are so welcoming, like with
- 1:19Speaker 1: the space and so helpful. So that's been that's that's
- 1:23Speaker 1: been a big alley basically, like with the whole event,
- 1:25Speaker 1: because we didn't really have to fight with anything. It
- 1:27Speaker 1: was just yo, let us do our thing, and we
- 1:30Speaker 1: did it. And April thirtieth, the next wedding. Yeah, R
- 1:33Speaker 1: and B kick people already going crazy about that.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Ninety two thousands. R and B join us April thirtieth.
- 1:38Speaker 2: We'll see all there, sir.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And today we got a very special guest man. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: met this man a couple of times already before seeing
- 1:46Speaker 1: what he's been doing. I'm tapped into his socials, everything
- 1:49Speaker 1: he got going on. If you want to just introduce
- 1:52Speaker 1: yourself real quick, let the people know who you are.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Yep, yo yo yo. Robbie d Fox, comic creator, writer
- 1:59Speaker 3: and social media creator as well.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yes, sir, so your dad actually put you on my
- 2:05Speaker 1: radar first with the first book that you did, The
- 2:07Speaker 1: Cyber Man, and I saw all the movement you were
- 2:11Speaker 1: doing with it hit and all the comic shops. I
- 2:13Speaker 1: know you had it and actme and they ended up
- 2:15Speaker 1: selling out. Congratulations on that, man, that's a super dope
- 2:19Speaker 1: comic spot. And to have it there and to have
- 2:22Speaker 1: people respond to it, that must be a dope feeling. Man.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Out of that feel When you got that news that
- 2:27Speaker 1: they all sold out.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It felt pretty good. But then, of course it also
- 2:31Speaker 3: came about when I had to print more. So I
- 2:35Speaker 3: made it like it made it fifty pages, which something
- 2:38Speaker 3: you shouldn't do it for the first book, you know,
- 2:40Speaker 3: I just kind of had to, I guess stug it
- 2:42Speaker 3: out after making it that big.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, So you've been making these comics. How many
- 2:48Speaker 1: years hasn't been since the first one? You drop?
- 2:51Speaker 3: It's the first one, I believe. The first one was
- 2:55Speaker 3: so right after I graduated high school, I believe, which
- 2:57Speaker 3: was twenty twenty three. Okay, it should be somewhere a.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Couple months all high.
- 3:03Speaker 3: School, Lake Brandley, Okay.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Nice. So, something your dad was telling us that I
- 3:09Speaker 1: thought was pretty interesting was kind of how you got
- 3:12Speaker 1: into it in the class that you took. I'd even
- 3:14Speaker 1: know that that kind of thing really existed. So if
- 3:16Speaker 1: you can kind of break down a little like how
- 3:18Speaker 1: that process was and kind of how you enjoyed it
- 3:21Speaker 1: and everything.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it was at the comic store Blackbird, because
- 3:25Speaker 3: they do a lot of events, so they'd be like
- 3:27Speaker 3: posting on their socials like reading clubs and stuff. But this,
- 3:31Speaker 3: well this was like back in the day before they
- 3:33Speaker 3: were even called Blackbird. But one of their former employees,
- 3:36Speaker 3: because he's gone now, he got his own comics store
- 3:38Speaker 3: in another city. But he was basically teaching people how
- 3:41Speaker 3: to write comics and how to make comics, the actual
- 3:44Speaker 3: process of printing and creating, putting it to paper, which
- 3:47Speaker 3: I did when I was like fourteen.
- 3:52Speaker 2: This is what it's big about comics because I'm a
- 3:55Speaker 2: big like Marvel, you know what I'm saying. I'm a
- 3:57Speaker 2: Marvel fan. I keep up with it. But the comic
- 4:00Speaker 2: mix really set the precedents for these stories of a
- 4:03Speaker 2: lot of movies that are they're starting to make movies about.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Like if you develop a really good story in a comic,
- 4:10Speaker 2: they can take that and make a big movie off
- 4:13Speaker 2: of it. Like there is a lot of leverage that
- 4:17Speaker 2: you can take if you develop a good story off
- 4:19Speaker 2: of it. So is that like how you develop your stories,
- 4:22Speaker 2: like how do you think of what you're making?
- 4:26Speaker 3: Well, I would like to get stuff adapted, But of
- 4:29Speaker 3: course that isn't like the im median first concern, because
- 4:32Speaker 3: a lot of people get caught in that trap of
- 4:33Speaker 3: just trying to use comics as a launch pad and
- 4:36Speaker 3: not like treating it as its own medium. But there
- 4:38Speaker 3: are some comments to get super popular, like plenty of
- 4:41Speaker 3: people don't know V for Vendetta was a comic adapted
- 4:44Speaker 3: into a movie.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, I didn't even know that actually.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Was a DC.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Actually yeah, even like a lot of people didn't know
- 4:52Speaker 1: about like Walking Dead. You know what I'm saying that
- 4:54Speaker 1: where they came from, and a lot of the people
- 4:56Speaker 1: that kind of knew where the story was going was,
- 4:59Speaker 1: you know, the people that had already read it. And
- 5:01Speaker 1: that even kind of goes into something I was talking
- 5:03Speaker 1: to you about before we started. Aj matter of fact
- 5:06Speaker 1: recommended Solo leveling and him and mari one of the
- 5:10Speaker 1: last times that we were here. Mario is somebody that
- 5:13Speaker 1: an engineer that we know, and I was kind of
- 5:16Speaker 1: asking you about it, and you have mentioned that you
- 5:17Speaker 1: read the manga first before actually like getting it up
- 5:21Speaker 1: before they even made the show or whatever, and just
- 5:24Speaker 1: kind of talk did you actually watch the show, like
- 5:26Speaker 1: or have you watched any of it?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah? I watched it when they came out.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Okay, So how did you feel about it, like kind
- 5:31Speaker 1: of compared to the manga and like your expectation from
- 5:34Speaker 1: already knowing the story.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it was pretty cool, seemed faithful. Of course
- 5:38Speaker 3: it did come out like a while after I actually
- 5:40Speaker 3: read the mono, so didn't quite remember everything, but generally
- 5:43Speaker 3: it seemed like they followed pretty similar.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Word So, what do you kind of like feel is
- 5:51Speaker 1: the thing that I guess, Like, what do you like
- 5:55Speaker 1: more the comic when they adapted for the show, Like
- 6:00Speaker 1: what do the manga is? Like? What's your main thing
- 6:03Speaker 1: that you enjoyed consuming? Like do you like reading the mangas,
- 6:05Speaker 1: reading comics, watching the shows? There's just kind of a
- 6:08Speaker 1: mix of all three.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Well, it's pretty much just a mix of all three,
- 6:12Speaker 3: like a lot of for animes, a lot of them.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I don't actually read the mangas because they're kind of
- 6:16Speaker 3: direct adaptations sometimes read more a lot of the mangas
- 6:20Speaker 3: I have read or stuff that like I read before
- 6:22Speaker 3: they got adapted, like new stuff currently things like that nature,
- 6:25Speaker 3: but I kind of like moll roughly the same, Like
- 6:27Speaker 3: I kind of treat comics and manga as the same
- 6:30Speaker 3: because they are the same to me pretty much.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Okay. And then another thing I wanted to ask you
- 6:35Speaker 1: was like what kind of drew you to say let me?
- 6:38Speaker 1: Let me start with the comics, because I don't know
- 6:41Speaker 1: if maybe it was something that you read when you
- 6:43Speaker 1: were younger, or like what kind of sparked you that
- 6:45Speaker 1: you were like, man, I could do this.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Well middle school and think of when I was like
- 6:50Speaker 3: eleven or twelve. It's like when I figured out I
- 6:52Speaker 3: wanted to write, but I didn't quite know like what
- 6:54Speaker 3: fiel to write in. It was just the general thing
- 6:56Speaker 3: of a writer, so I didn't know like comic writer,
- 6:59Speaker 3: movie writers show. But then like it was that class
- 7:02Speaker 3: in the comic store that was kind of the lynch
- 7:04Speaker 3: pin to signify the like comic writing something I could
- 7:08Speaker 3: actually do, like off the ground gotcha?
- 7:10Speaker 1: So like writing was like the first thing you thought, like,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I want to be a writer, And what kind of
- 7:15Speaker 1: brought you to that, Like the fact that you don't
- 7:17Speaker 1: have no limitations when you write, because I know that's
- 7:19Speaker 1: something that I like when you write and you can
- 7:21Speaker 1: kind of just do whatever. You don't have to. It's
- 7:24Speaker 1: not necessarily real, it's whatever you could think of, so
- 7:26Speaker 1: you can just kind of build however you want to build.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty much just the idea of creation and
- 7:32Speaker 3: things of that nature. Like playing a lot of Marvel
- 7:34Speaker 3: and DC games as a kid, whenever they gave me
- 7:36Speaker 3: like customization options, I just like to play around and
- 7:40Speaker 3: change up the outfits. And I think that kind of
- 7:41Speaker 3: sparked because I was like that customizing made me want
- 7:44Speaker 3: to design my own stuff, and that led to design
- 7:46Speaker 3: and own characters and wanted to, yeah, create your own
- 7:49Speaker 3: world stuff.
- 7:50Speaker 2: What uh, how do you envision? And this is something
- 7:53Speaker 2: that I always think of with people who do comics,
- 7:57Speaker 2: Like do you envision the illustrations as you write? How
- 8:00Speaker 2: does that come into play?
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah? Typically I try to, like I think a pretty
- 8:06Speaker 3: imaginative person kind of like overactive imagination, I imagine, try and
- 8:12Speaker 3: think of.
- 8:12Speaker 2: All the as You're right, you already think of the
- 8:14Speaker 2: illustrations and how it all comes into play together. Make
- 8:17Speaker 2: sure it ties in together.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah, trying to think of how it all flows and
- 8:21Speaker 3: how it goes into countrial order things of that nature.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what I because, like I haven't read
- 8:27Speaker 2: many comics as a kid. Like we talked about it,
- 8:29Speaker 2: like you guys were super into Dragon ball Z and
- 8:32Speaker 2: all that, and I never tapped into that, but there
- 8:37Speaker 2: were certain ones and I was like, how did this
- 8:39Speaker 2: all like come to fruition? Does the illustration come first
- 8:42Speaker 2: and then the story comes after? But from what it
- 8:45Speaker 2: sounds like is like the story ties into what you're
- 8:48Speaker 2: already envisioning for the illustration. So that's that's a good
- 8:51Speaker 2: thing to understand for people who just don't read mag
- 8:57Speaker 2: mag maga like me.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You know. So for me, something I wanted to kind
- 9:02Speaker 1: of discuss with you is like whenever you're like reading
- 9:08Speaker 1: comics or manga or whatever, I always feel like the
- 9:12Speaker 1: thing that will get me most from any any story
- 9:16Speaker 1: is like the lore. So like whatever the lore is
- 9:19Speaker 1: for that universe, if the lore catches me, that's kind
- 9:23Speaker 1: of the thing for me that I enjoyed. Like, for example,
- 9:25Speaker 1: with Dragon ball Z, the whole thing about the sayings
- 9:28Speaker 1: and the powers and everything, that's kind of what grabbed
- 9:31Speaker 1: me right at the beginning, Like, Okay, the lore behind
- 9:33Speaker 1: this and the legend of these people in here is
- 9:36Speaker 1: kind of what makes me want to know, like what's
- 9:39Speaker 1: you know, what's the other parts of this? How you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: what's part of the legend? You know what I'm saying
- 9:44Speaker 1: for you? When you were watching cartoons and comic based
- 9:49Speaker 1: things and manga and stuff, what were kind of like
- 9:51Speaker 1: some of the things that grabbed you from certain stories
- 9:54Speaker 1: that you were like, Oh, this this is the kind
- 9:56Speaker 1: of stuff that I want to implement in my in
- 9:58Speaker 1: my stories.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Well, it's kind of to you actually, in the aspect
- 10:01Speaker 3: of lower because I always like the world building and
- 10:04Speaker 3: character building, like those are the things to come first
- 10:06Speaker 3: to me, because I feel like if you have like
- 10:08Speaker 3: a really good world and really good characters, but like
- 10:11Speaker 3: a basic plot, they can carry that a lot more
- 10:14Speaker 3: than if you have a really good plot but like
- 10:16Speaker 3: basic characters or a world.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, because the
- 10:19Speaker 1: world kind of like feeds itself almost so you can
- 10:22Speaker 1: keep it going with the world. But if you only
- 10:25Speaker 1: have it based off of like one story or one character,
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's kind of hard to build, I would imagine, right.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because of that nature. It's like some like one
- 10:33Speaker 3: piece is like my favorite anime manga because of how
- 10:35Speaker 3: much in depth. They girl in the world building.
- 10:38Speaker 1: How many episodes are they up to?
- 10:39Speaker 3: Now?
- 10:39Speaker 1: They're over a thousand?
- 10:40Speaker 3: Right, yeah, I think they're like over eleven hundred. Wow.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Should we ask them to give us a top three,
- 10:46Speaker 2: top five?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah. Definitely wanted to get into that because
- 10:51Speaker 1: leading into that, I wanted to talk about, like when
- 10:53Speaker 1: I was younger, one of the comics that really got
- 10:55Speaker 1: me into like Marvel and just comics and the main
- 11:00Speaker 1: stuff like that in general, was I don't know if
- 11:03Speaker 1: you ever read it, it's kind of older, but the
- 11:05Speaker 1: Marvel Verse DC. I think it was four or five
- 11:08Speaker 1: comics that they had. It was like from the nineties
- 11:11Speaker 1: maybe like the early mid nineties, late nineties something like that,
- 11:15Speaker 1: where they actually had like a thing where the world's
- 11:18Speaker 1: crossed over and you saw like Superman versus Hulk, you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: Spider Man was in there with you know, like a
- 11:26Speaker 1: Superboy and stuff like that. It was like a crazy
- 11:29Speaker 1: crossover that had like all the characters and like it
- 11:32Speaker 1: was like for me, it was crazy seeing like reading
- 11:34Speaker 1: the pages and thinking like, oh, who's gonna win these
- 11:36Speaker 1: battles and seeing who won the individual battles, you.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Know that, So they had the rights. That's all it
- 11:41Speaker 2: comes down to whoever, right.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, well even that thing was like a big thing
- 11:45Speaker 1: because when they agreed to do it, there was like
- 11:48Speaker 1: rules as to like how certain things are drawn, who's
- 11:52Speaker 1: gonna win what battle and stuff, which is also kind
- 11:55Speaker 1: of something that happened with I don't know if you're
- 11:56Speaker 1: familiar with who framed Roger Rabbit, the movie that got
- 12:00Speaker 1: like Looney Tunes and Disney people in it. Disney was
- 12:04Speaker 1: very particular they were like, hey, you can use our
- 12:07Speaker 1: characters like this, you can only have them in certain
- 12:09Speaker 1: scenes like this. So, like you said, when you don't
- 12:11Speaker 1: got the rights specifically, it kind of you kind of
- 12:13Speaker 1: run into little issues. But for me with the comics
- 12:17Speaker 1: that Marvel Vers DC was like one of the first
- 12:20Speaker 1: ones that really got me into and after that I
- 12:21Speaker 1: was really big into like the Marvel comics, you know
- 12:24Speaker 1: what I mean. And then later on I found like
- 12:26Speaker 1: the what If series in Marvel where it just kind
- 12:29Speaker 1: of yeah, talked about different stuff, the zombies and everything.
- 12:32Speaker 1: So like, what are kind of like some of the
- 12:33Speaker 1: ones that you always check out.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So like basically favorites and like favorites.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, either top three or top five. We don't have it.
- 12:43Speaker 1: What you have, whichever, whatever ones that come to your mind,
- 12:46Speaker 1: the best ones.
- 12:47Speaker 3: The best ones. Well, I probably just give like some
- 12:49Speaker 3: of the top ones from different I guess worlds because
- 12:51Speaker 3: Marvel DC top ones. Yeah, let's Marvel. My favorite Marvel
- 12:56Speaker 3: book is this book called Excalibur. Okay, it was like
- 12:59Speaker 3: a little Spen spin off basically like a Magic X
- 13:02Speaker 3: Men team, because you know, the X Men are pretty
- 13:04Speaker 3: much sci fi based and I always lean towards magic
- 13:07Speaker 3: a bit more technically, none of them were actually magicians
- 13:10Speaker 3: on the O G team, but they were in like
- 13:12Speaker 3: Britain because the whole EXCaliber team and dealing with stuff
- 13:15Speaker 3: like Merlin, and they had a Captain Britain because a
- 13:18Speaker 3: lot of people don't know Marvel has that. So yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 3: a lot of the British humor and old school British stuff,
- 13:25Speaker 3: like they would say things like walloping.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And British slang use that slaying in there.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Captain Britain would get punched and be like, oh that
- 13:34Speaker 3: was a mighty fine wallop and you gave me my
- 13:36Speaker 3: turn to return to favor.
- 13:41Speaker 1: That's funny, man. Then, So like in d C, what
- 13:44Speaker 1: are some of some of the ones you like, so.
- 13:46Speaker 3: My favorite DC book as occurrence probably like Grant Morrison's
- 13:50Speaker 3: Animal Man.
- 13:51Speaker 1: This one is like, I haven't heard of that one.
- 13:53Speaker 1: What was that one about?
- 13:54Speaker 3: It's like it's really gassed up like a lot of
- 13:56Speaker 3: people to read comics, like in a lot of circles.
- 13:59Speaker 3: But you know, Animal Man's a bit more niche, so
- 14:02Speaker 3: he's kind of like, well he's got animal powers. As
- 14:04Speaker 3: we see the run goes, but they start getting like
- 14:06Speaker 3: a bit meta and things of that, because I think
- 14:08Speaker 3: this was a little bit after one of DC's reccons.
- 14:12Speaker 3: So you had like the old Animal Man's origins and
- 14:14Speaker 3: it was starting to interact with the new one. But
- 14:16Speaker 3: the old one like they didn't do much with him before.
- 14:19Speaker 3: So the guy was like really playing around and he
- 14:22Speaker 3: towards the end ends up like even meeting the writer
- 14:24Speaker 3: of the book. Like that's how far out?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Oh, so it gets really like breaking the fourth wall
- 14:28Speaker 1: type of vibes there.
- 14:30Speaker 2: How do you feel about redcon stuff?
- 14:31Speaker 3: Though, Uh, well, you know, some can be good, some
- 14:34Speaker 3: can be.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Bad, Yeah, of course, but it's something is needed.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes sometimes they need to just change some shenanigre
- 14:43Speaker 3: I do, like, because like they.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Got to reset the cannon of everything pretty much.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Sometimes yeah, without well wolf less, it's easier to flow
- 14:50Speaker 3: through because Marvel has a lot less than DC. So
- 14:53Speaker 3: it's like easier to flow through because a lot of
- 14:55Speaker 3: people treat them the same. But like DC's reset their
- 14:58Speaker 3: whole universe like three times, Marvel hasn't actually ever reset
- 15:01Speaker 3: their universe.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Between Snyder and everything that they've done. Is there anything
- 15:06Speaker 2: you're looking forward to that's coming out as far as movies.
- 15:09Speaker 3: As far as movies, well, pretty much just all the
- 15:11Speaker 3: comic movies where like a Supergirl movie. Yeah on that
- 15:14Speaker 3: because I read the book that was adapted from it,
- 15:17Speaker 3: and yeah, that book.
- 15:19Speaker 1: How do you feel about how DC has done as
- 15:23Speaker 1: far as the movies go, Well.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I think they're doing better now with how Gun is
- 15:27Speaker 3: doing because before in the Last World they were kind
- 15:30Speaker 3: of kind of being iffy, especially because like Flash is
- 15:33Speaker 3: my favorite DC character now like the only fash movie
- 15:35Speaker 3: we got and I was just like a travesty.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, I feel like DC. The problem for
- 15:41Speaker 1: me with DC has always been their villains, which I
- 15:44Speaker 1: feel like that's why Batman is so popular because Batman
- 15:47Speaker 1: gives a lot of emphasis to the villains and gives it.
- 15:50Speaker 1: There's a villains, a lot of story, so like people
- 15:53Speaker 1: are excited to see you know, Joker two phase.
- 15:56Speaker 2: They and they just said Homeboy Bucky Barnes is going
- 15:59Speaker 2: to play two Face in Batman movie.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't know that. That's pretty dope. But
- 16:05Speaker 1: what do you think about that? Like the DC verse
- 16:07Speaker 1: versus Marvel thing, like what's your I'm pretty sure people
- 16:10Speaker 1: talk about that all the time.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, Well, I mean I always like them the
- 16:13Speaker 3: same because like, in my eyes, it's like picking between
- 16:16Speaker 3: two children.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Two of your favorite kids.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like so I feel like I'm like
- 16:22Speaker 3: it's more unbiased or objective because I like certain things
- 16:26Speaker 3: more in certain places like Marvel. I like their their
- 16:29Speaker 3: magic more stuff like that.
- 16:31Speaker 2: How do you feel how they're going in like the
- 16:33Speaker 2: multiverse saga and everything that's coming with Doctor Doom and
- 16:37Speaker 2: the Anchor Beans and all that. How do you feel
- 16:40Speaker 2: about that?
- 16:41Speaker 3: But it's always like so so like some people got
- 16:45Speaker 3: issues with the multiverse, some final fit. It's always a
- 16:47Speaker 3: cool concept. Sometimes people lean too much into it. Sometimes
- 16:51Speaker 3: it's cool, Like I know, just in earlier this week,
- 16:54Speaker 3: Storm had a new comic drop and she was like
- 16:57Speaker 3: outside of the multiverse, but like it was hints that
- 17:00Speaker 3: she was in DC's world. Because I was reading that,
- 17:03Speaker 3: I was like, wait a minute, that's outside multiverse and
- 17:05Speaker 3: there is this thing called like the source Wall in
- 17:07Speaker 3: DC's verse, and I was just like, is she in
- 17:10Speaker 3: d C.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's crazy? I got to check that out.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Even know, where can you go to like keep up
- 17:16Speaker 2: with like comics dropping and stuff like that.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You need things like that comics dropping, Well, I got
- 17:21Speaker 3: like this one app called like a uh I think
- 17:24Speaker 3: it was called like Comic geek Scene or something like that.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Might check again, but it's like and it was like
- 17:31Speaker 3: I basically kind of subscribe to comics, but not like
- 17:34Speaker 3: a pay subscription, but it just like gives me notifications
- 17:37Speaker 3: or anything.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm reading stuff that drops whenever stuffs get.
- 17:40Speaker 2: It up because like I don't, I don't know where
- 17:41Speaker 2: to go to fine, like because I would like to.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I would like to find some new comics, new story
- 17:47Speaker 2: that drive because that's kind of what feeds into these
- 17:49Speaker 2: movies at the end of the day.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Are you familiar with the Watchmen graphic novels and comics
- 17:53Speaker 1: at all or have you checked out any of the
- 17:56Speaker 1: Watchmen stuff?
- 17:57Speaker 3: Well, I know of The Watchmen, but I think I
- 17:59Speaker 3: read it I was younger, but I don't really remember
- 18:01Speaker 3: much anything.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, for DC, that's probably my favorite DC property, the
- 18:06Speaker 1: watch the Watchman stuff. I love like all the stories
- 18:10Speaker 1: they come out with about Watchmen and just the way
- 18:13Speaker 1: they kind of like put the reality into the fantasy,
- 18:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And the way they kind
- 18:19Speaker 1: of weave it all together and how they put it
- 18:22Speaker 1: like into like real history they kind of created.
- 18:25Speaker 2: That's what you always told me, and I think I
- 18:28Speaker 2: watched like the first season I saw that.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the Watchmen. To me, man, I love Watchman. It's
- 18:33Speaker 1: like my favorite DC property. I enjoyed that a lot.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I like the movie, the comics, the show that they
- 18:40Speaker 1: dropped on HBO. Max Wife, you watched it.
- 18:43Speaker 2: She always tried to get me to finish it, and
- 18:44Speaker 2: I never do because I don't do things. But I'm
- 18:48Speaker 2: gonna I think I'm gonna put that on my list because,
- 18:50Speaker 2: like you said, like, I'm a real big story guy.
- 18:54Speaker 2: If the story aligns and it makes sense. I love
- 18:57Speaker 2: that kind of televison and shows.
- 19:01Speaker 1: So it's great writing in there. Man. That's something for
- 19:05Speaker 1: sure I would recommend to anybody, even if you don't
- 19:07Speaker 1: like comics. I feel like Watchmen is a really good
- 19:10Speaker 1: one to kind of like get your feet wet, because,
- 19:12Speaker 1: like I said, it has that like reality kind of
- 19:15Speaker 1: stuff in it, like.
- 19:17Speaker 2: The history of the United States and all that.
- 19:19Speaker 3: And well, the writer or the Watchman, I mean, he
- 19:22Speaker 3: is really esteemed because like he did a couple of
- 19:25Speaker 3: books that are like super big DC because it it's
- 19:27Speaker 3: this guy Alan Moore. And he did some swamping stuff,
- 19:31Speaker 3: like he did Swamp Thing's most popular story, which introduced Constantine.
- 19:35Speaker 3: If you know Constantine at all, So yeah, it was
- 19:38Speaker 3: his Swamp Things run where Constantine was first introduced, and
- 19:41Speaker 3: then you know, he got his own series after that.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And then he also did v for Vendetta.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Oh he was the one that did it too. Okay,
- 19:47Speaker 1: so he didn't watch Nice then I didn't.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I didn't know that to watch any of these either.
- 19:52Speaker 2: You have seen.
- 19:55Speaker 1: That movie is I've always heard about it.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I've seen the memes and seen the stories, but I
- 19:59Speaker 2: have not.
- 20:00Speaker 1: That's that's a super enjoyable one. And that and it
- 20:02Speaker 1: makes sense that he wrote that one too, because I
- 20:05Speaker 1: can see it. I can see like the themes and everything.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It definitely makes sense.
- 20:10Speaker 2: But yeah, talk about this.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. I was about to say that. I got
- 20:13Speaker 1: to talk to us. I actually got into read the
- 20:16Speaker 1: first couple of pages when you brought it today and
- 20:19Speaker 1: kind of see how you're, like, like we were talking
- 20:21Speaker 1: about with the lore, Like in the beginning, you're establishing
- 20:24Speaker 1: kind of like the mages, the mage masters, kind of
- 20:27Speaker 1: like where they rank in society, Who's who's Like you're
- 20:32Speaker 1: kind of setting it up really really well in like
- 20:35Speaker 1: the first couple of pages. So I just kind of
- 20:37Speaker 1: want you to break down the story a little bit.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to know what when did this light
- 20:43Speaker 2: bulb click for you?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Well, this click the right when I This was like
- 20:48Speaker 3: my first manga concept actually, which is why because I
- 20:50Speaker 3: got like a whole bunch of the dress. But this
- 20:52Speaker 3: was like right after I started getting into one piece.
- 20:55Speaker 3: So because of that, the verse is like really expansive
- 20:57Speaker 3: because I started getting into world building and premises that
- 21:01Speaker 3: like God never separated like Heaven their Hell or all
- 21:04Speaker 3: those areas, so it's just one big land mass where
- 21:08Speaker 3: you got humans, angels, demons, god, spirits, like you could.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Just take that's a dope idea, bro, Like that is.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Vacation and like Olympus for example, Like you could just
- 21:20Speaker 3: Elope there, Honeyboone there.
- 21:22Speaker 2: That's that, And that's what I'm saying that creativity. It's
- 21:27Speaker 2: just it's just good to describe because there's a lot
- 21:29Speaker 2: of people out there who want to do stuff like this,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So it's like when you
- 21:33Speaker 2: think of the stuff like this, you need to just
- 21:35Speaker 2: put it on some kind of So where did you start?
- 21:38Speaker 2: Where was the first platform or first piece of paper?
- 21:42Speaker 2: Where where did you write it down the first time?
- 21:45Speaker 1: Well?
- 21:45Speaker 3: I just rolle down like Google Docs. That's usually where
- 21:48Speaker 3: I like be putting stuff down. Just have all sorts
- 21:51Speaker 3: of drafts or files in Google.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Docs nice, and then you can access that anywhere. So
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's super clutch. Yeah, so you could you you kind
- 22:00Speaker 1: of broke down the world a little bit. Let's talk
- 22:03Speaker 1: about like the characters on the cover and kind of
- 22:06Speaker 1: like their stories a little bit and how you kind
- 22:09Speaker 1: of got to creating them.
- 22:11Speaker 3: So, yeah, the main character, he's the blue hair kid, Alicio,
- 22:15Speaker 3: Hispanic and stuff. So he's like born with this black
- 22:19Speaker 3: mark that kind of caused him a lot of pain.
- 22:21Speaker 3: So you know, don't know, well, I know what the
- 22:23Speaker 3: black mark is but you know that'd be a spoiler.
- 22:25Speaker 3: But like a mage master comes and just fixes his
- 22:28Speaker 3: black mark like it's nothing. He's just like and there
- 22:30Speaker 3: you go. And like he grew up no doctors or
- 22:33Speaker 3: nothing could help with it. So he's just amazed that
- 22:35Speaker 3: a mage master could do that, and that's just influencing
- 22:38Speaker 3: him to want to be one.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and the major master that he met is it
- 22:42Speaker 1: is that this the other character on here.
- 22:44Speaker 3: No, because the other character is his best friend, his
- 22:46Speaker 3: best friend. Okay, this guy is he's horror too, because
- 22:49Speaker 3: I know I got a review for this the reviewer
- 22:52Speaker 3: I thought his name was Naruto' it's an h basically,
- 22:57Speaker 3: but he's descended from like Leo of the Constellations, because
- 23:00Speaker 3: this world, the twelve Constellations are like basically the World Council.
- 23:05Speaker 3: They're like twelve high kings and queens, so like each
- 23:08Speaker 3: of them are like super strong. Themn along with the
- 23:11Speaker 3: seven Deadly Sins because the guy that cured Alicio's mark
- 23:15Speaker 3: was one of the seven Deadly Sins, so those twelve
- 23:18Speaker 3: and six of the Sins. Because Pride doesn't have any kids,
- 23:22Speaker 3: people don't know who Pride is. He's a mystery man.
- 23:28Speaker 1: You got you got I ever heard one, man, Bro,
- 23:32Speaker 1: if you explained that in like a couple of sentences
- 23:35Speaker 1: and you got that much, Bro, I can't even imagine
- 23:37Speaker 1: what the rest of the book is.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Like, Bro, that's crazy. No, that's dope. Like you got
- 23:41Speaker 2: it tied in really, like you said, you're creating the
- 23:44Speaker 2: world that everything ties into.
- 23:47Speaker 1: That is that is very very And I'm guessing you
- 23:49Speaker 1: have like more plans with this series to drop more
- 23:52Speaker 1: stuff or.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely would like more plans though of course this
- 23:56Speaker 3: is a pilot because you know that it has so
- 23:58Speaker 3: much plans that won't be to like actually fund or
- 24:01Speaker 3: produce because of how long it would go. Yeah, things
- 24:04Speaker 3: of that nature, Like I thought of, like, because to
- 24:06Speaker 3: become a mage master in the world, you need to
- 24:08Speaker 3: complete like twelve tasks, Like each of those would be
- 24:11Speaker 3: an arc in this world, would be an arc in
- 24:13Speaker 3: the story, each of the twelve tasks.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Wow. Man. So so to back it up a little bit,
- 24:20Speaker 1: I know that the first one you drop with Cyberman,
- 24:22Speaker 1: and your dad was saying that the first prototype that
- 24:25Speaker 1: you did at the class was also Cyberman as well.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So if you want to, if you can break down
- 24:30Speaker 1: that character a little bit, or a little bit the
- 24:32Speaker 1: story behind Cyberman, because that was the one that you
- 24:34Speaker 1: actually had in a lot of the comic shops. And
- 24:37Speaker 1: that's kind of like how I learned about you more
- 24:40Speaker 1: was through your like pushing of the Cyberman character, you
- 24:44Speaker 1: know what I mean, and the book and everything.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well he was like the first character draft
- 24:48Speaker 3: I ever made, which is why I wanted him to
- 24:50Speaker 3: be my book.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I'm sorry to interrupt you, but when you say ever made,
- 24:53Speaker 1: like from when you were younger, like like middle school.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Even like you had him, Yeah pretty much.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Okay, cool, so keep going on.
- 24:59Speaker 3: You get a different name back then, but you know,
- 25:00Speaker 3: changed and evolved because back then, I feel like a
- 25:03Speaker 3: lot of my stuff was kind of just blatant ripoffs
- 25:06Speaker 3: before like high schools, where I started looking at my
- 25:08Speaker 3: middle school viles and being like, they don't really have
- 25:10Speaker 3: much substance and started like growing them up. But he
- 25:13Speaker 3: was like back then I was a lot more inclined
- 25:15Speaker 3: to sci fi stuff then, I guess magic, So he
- 25:18Speaker 3: was I guess iron Man inspired. As you could tell
- 25:21Speaker 3: with the suit, I wanted to I just flip the
- 25:23Speaker 3: whole billionaire things. So his riches are essentially a curse
- 25:27Speaker 3: because his story, his mom is basically trying to groom
- 25:31Speaker 3: him to be a mafioso because she's like a mafia
- 25:33Speaker 3: boss with all her riches, and he rebels, which is
- 25:36Speaker 3: what leads him to build his suit and things of
- 25:38Speaker 3: that nature.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Nice. Man, that's crazy. Give me one second, real quick. Cool.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So yeah, man, I'm not gonna lie. Man, I'm super
- 25:48Speaker 1: impressed with I mean, it's crazy because I talked about
- 25:51Speaker 1: how the lore is like the thing that really grabs
- 25:54Speaker 1: me as far as like the stories with these comics
- 25:56Speaker 1: and everything, and the way you've thought of like all
- 25:59Speaker 1: the layers of of the world and the way one
- 26:02Speaker 1: of the things you mentioned was like kind of like
- 26:05Speaker 1: the I forgot exactly what you mentioned, but like the
- 26:08Speaker 1: twelve was the twelfth task.
- 26:09Speaker 2: The sevenths and the constellations.
- 26:13Speaker 1: So you said something about some tasks or some things
- 26:15Speaker 1: you have to do.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Yeah, because like, oh, the constellations are the ones that
- 26:20Speaker 3: like knight you, so you have to go and do
- 26:23Speaker 3: a task for each of them to get knighted. And
- 26:25Speaker 3: if you get knighted about a twelve that's how you
- 26:27Speaker 3: become a mage master.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, because like even that part of it is like
- 26:30Speaker 1: it's not only it's not only the world and the characters,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but it's also like the things you have to do
- 26:35Speaker 1: in that world, And like the way you got this
- 26:39Speaker 1: all mapped out, bro, Like this is definitely something that
- 26:42Speaker 1: you got to keep expanding on, you know what I mean,
- 26:44Speaker 1: Like you said, it's twelve twelve constellations, each one of
- 26:48Speaker 1: them has the task. So there's just soul.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Stylish saying like, yeah, exactly, you're establishing layers that you
- 26:53Speaker 2: can keep expanding on to keep this thing going. That's
- 26:56Speaker 2: that's a good way to That's a foundation.
- 27:00Speaker 1: The Maine Masters one. Is this something that you're trying
- 27:03Speaker 1: to also get into the comic book shops and stuff
- 27:05Speaker 1: you're moving around with this one?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Or yeah, well also, well got it into one store
- 27:10Speaker 3: so far, haven't put it into two too many because
- 27:12Speaker 3: I was going through like a tour doing a bunch
- 27:14Speaker 3: of shows. But like the first store, Blackbird that I
- 27:17Speaker 3: did it at, gave them some copies because that was
- 27:20Speaker 3: the premiere, so already in there.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Nice. And then as far as like the events that
- 27:27Speaker 1: you'd be going to, you just go to all the
- 27:29Speaker 1: comic book conventions and expos and stuff like that and
- 27:32Speaker 1: just kind of get your name out there. Is that
- 27:33Speaker 1: like kind of how you're going about it.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much try and do that, whether I'm like
- 27:38Speaker 3: and a table up there or just going around looking around.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I got to go to Mega Con earlier this year
- 27:44Speaker 3: because my friends got me a ticket and even got
- 27:47Speaker 3: to like give a copy of one of my books
- 27:49Speaker 3: to some of the bigger name creators in there.
- 27:51Speaker 1: That's fire Man man. Honestly, Bro, I really appreciate you
- 27:56Speaker 1: coming by and talking about it. I really I'm really
- 27:59Speaker 1: interested in the story and the whole universe you have said.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I'm definitely gonna finish reading this, and I'm hoping that
- 28:05Speaker 1: you got more and more coming from this. Man. I know,
- 28:07Speaker 1: I know it might be a little while, but definitely
- 28:09Speaker 1: keep going with this story.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Bro, There's a lot of so let's have you back,
- 28:13Speaker 2: keep us posted on your progress of what you're doing
- 28:17Speaker 2: and how your story is transitioning and how you developed.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Before we go, before the thing crashed, we were talking
- 28:23Speaker 1: about Cyberman the story about let's wrap that up real
- 28:26Speaker 1: quick and then and then we can kind of like
- 28:28Speaker 1: wrap it up.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Well, I'm pretty sure I kind of finished just about
- 28:33Speaker 3: his story from what I did earlier. His whole the
- 28:36Speaker 3: whole recap was his mom was a mafia boss and
- 28:39Speaker 3: she's trying to groom him to be a mafioso. So
- 28:42Speaker 3: he kind of builds his suit to rebel. The student
- 28:45Speaker 3: is pretty much an act of rebellion, I guess you
- 28:47Speaker 3: could say, to take charge of his own life.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Okay, did you watch Ironheart? Yeah?
- 28:53Speaker 3: I did.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Did you like it?
- 28:55Speaker 3: I mean it was it was all right, it.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Is all right. The ending, Yeah, and they left it open,
- 29:01Speaker 2: and they left it.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Open like seeing the fisto because he's like.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I don't know if she agreed
- 29:08Speaker 2: to the terms or not.
- 29:09Speaker 1: So well, So, what are some of the next things
- 29:12Speaker 1: you got coming up with this book? And just in
- 29:14Speaker 1: general before we before we wrap up, we.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Don't get any real plans for this book. Obviously got
- 29:20Speaker 3: some of the stories figured out, but like no real
- 29:22Speaker 3: pen to paper or I guess pen the page for
- 29:26Speaker 3: the actual drawing out. I do good. Like my fourth
- 29:28Speaker 3: book was technically already done because it finished actually before
- 29:32Speaker 3: this one, even though I planned this one to be
- 29:33Speaker 3: my third, So I was just like waiting, after all
- 29:37Speaker 3: the stuff from this one dies down to drop my
- 29:39Speaker 3: fourth one.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So night, So you kind of already got that one
- 29:42Speaker 1: in the in the can, kind of ready to go
- 29:44Speaker 1: once you're kind of done working this one and getting
- 29:47Speaker 1: people to check this one out?
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, fire man, Where where can people find your your stuff? So?
- 29:54Speaker 3: I got a website Fox Island dot Card of two
- 29:56Speaker 3: hours dot co. So it's got like all my socials
- 29:59Speaker 3: and links to my books digitally and things of that nature.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And we'll throw it in the link for the web
- 30:04Speaker 1: for the episode and we'll make sure we share it
- 30:05Speaker 1: on the social unity so people can check it out.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Super dope man. One of the reasons I wanted to
- 30:11Speaker 1: have you on is because I don't even really know
- 30:13Speaker 1: anybody that's doing comics locally, you know what I mean.
- 30:16Speaker 1: So it's cool to meet somebody that's in it, and
- 30:19Speaker 1: you've been in it and active for a while now,
