- 0:09Speaker 1: Yes, welcome to another edition of the Bootleg cap Podcast,
- 0:14Speaker 1: episode number twenty five. Wow, twenty five episodes in. We
- 0:19Speaker 1: launched this podcast at the end of June, and unfortunately, unfortunately, no, fortunately,
- 0:30Speaker 1: we're at episode twenty five and everything's been very successful,
- 0:33Speaker 1: so you know, shit's going good man. Thank you to
- 0:36Speaker 1: everybody for all the positive feedback and the negative feedback.
- 0:40Speaker 1: You know, the funniest thing I saw on YouTube was
- 0:43Speaker 1: someone said that I had horrible posture on a YouTube comment,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and I gotta fix that. I don't want to have
- 0:51Speaker 1: bad posture, bro, I really don't want that to happen.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So been looking at all the feedback though, getting a
- 0:59Speaker 1: lot of positive feed back. Besides this white motherfucker don't
- 1:02Speaker 1: know rap music that seems to be the commonality amongst
- 1:06Speaker 1: most of the comments. But with that being said, go
- 1:08Speaker 1: fuck yourself. I know plenty more about hip hop than
- 1:10Speaker 1: you'll ever fucking know in your life. Anyway, Today's a
- 1:14Speaker 1: crazy day the election recording this the morning of November three,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and no matter where you fall on the political spectrum,
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's safe to say that this election is gonna be
- 1:26Speaker 1: like none we've ever seen in our entire life. So
- 1:30Speaker 1: fuck Donald Trump and let's see what happens tonight. We
- 1:35Speaker 1: got a dope episode today JR Ryder, who was a
- 1:40Speaker 1: part of like the new dip Set crew that you
- 1:44Speaker 1: know when when Dipset introduced, like hell Rel and Forty
- 1:47Speaker 1: Cow and Jarl Ryder, there was a real dope energy
- 1:51Speaker 1: about those three dudes, specifically hell Rel and Jarl Ryder.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It kind of felt like they were gonna take the
- 1:58Speaker 1: Dipset flag and run with it for like another ten years. Unfortunately,
- 2:01Speaker 1: that's not really what transpired. As we all know, there
- 2:06Speaker 1: was plenty of Dipset family issues and the gang broke up.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Gr Rider with Jail. But he's an incredible dude man,
- 2:16Speaker 1: incredible artist, incredible MC and I was just like, you
- 2:21Speaker 1: know what, he was just gonna come up here in
- 2:22Speaker 1: freestyle and I was like, Nah, fuck that man, Let's
- 2:24Speaker 1: do an interview, bro because I think we can have
- 2:26Speaker 1: a dope conversation. I've talked to JR in the past
- 2:29Speaker 1: and we had a dope conversation. So we do have
- 2:32Speaker 1: a freestyle with JR Rider coming out on Friday. And
- 2:35Speaker 1: if you guys have been paying attention, we started a
- 2:37Speaker 1: freestyle segment for the podcast for the YouTube that's gonna
- 2:42Speaker 1: be once a week, so if you subscribe to the
- 2:47Speaker 1: YouTube channel, you'll notice once a week we have a
- 2:51Speaker 1: new freestyle coming out. You know, we did Benny the
- 2:53Speaker 1: Butcher and Hem from BSF. We did Simba last week.
- 2:57Speaker 1: This week we'll have JR. Rider and Yeah, just trying
- 3:02Speaker 1: to just crank out as much dope content as possible. Also,
- 3:05Speaker 1: gonna be doing more episodes of the podcast that you know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: when we first started the podcast, we were doing I
- 3:14Speaker 1: was doing more. I did a couple of episodes rather
- 3:17Speaker 1: where I was just talking to my boy about shit
- 3:20Speaker 1: right like ranking albums and just kind of not necessarily interviews.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So I'm gonna start doing more of that, and we're
- 3:28Speaker 1: gonna start doing some live stream stuff on Twitch on YouTube.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So I'm excited to start doing that. We're just we're
- 3:36Speaker 1: just really trying to expand everything we're doing with the
- 3:38Speaker 1: podcast and do it as as big as we possibly can.

- 5:25Speaker 1: It like hurt my whole entire soul. Dan, I'm such
- 5:28Speaker 1: a big jipset fan. I was like, damn, I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm not saying that Jim Jones hasn't obviously, No, it's
- 5:33Speaker 1: a fact because that's what they said about social media.
- 5:36Speaker 1: How it kind of like ruins the mystery behind the artist,
- 5:39Speaker 1: the aura. It's like, oh, he's posting about everything. Was
- 5:42Speaker 1: when we was coming up, it was like I just
- 5:44Speaker 1: got what I got, all the mixtape and whatever it
- 5:46Speaker 1: was in the Double XL Yeah, and if you happen
- 5:48Speaker 1: to see somebody, you see them. But in whatever interview
- 5:51Speaker 1: they did on Rap City, yeah, exactly exactly or magazine
- 5:55Speaker 1: Double XL One of those, but now it's like now
- 5:58Speaker 1: it's like so transparent and they want they want you
- 6:01Speaker 1: to be transparent. Honestly, that's the only way niggas fuck
- 6:04Speaker 1: with you. Yeah, are you ready all right your butlet

- 6:18Speaker 1: We actually had Real ninety two three before. Yeah, shouts
- 6:20Speaker 1: the DJ HADJ had, the covid is shut down the
- 6:23Speaker 1: radio station. Yeah, it's quiet, so we're here at my studio. Well,
- 6:27Speaker 1: how you been, man, I've been good man, just working.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So give give us like a rundown and everything you
- 6:32Speaker 1: got going on right now. I'm dropping the album October thirtieth.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I would call it an EP because my album coming
- 6:39Speaker 1: after like a few of those. But I'm dropping on
- 6:42Speaker 1: October thirtief this Friday. It's called I Really Wrapped. Two
- 6:47Speaker 1: shout outs to thirty eight Spett, shout outs to Royster
- 6:49Speaker 1: five to nine, shout outs to Davy, shouts the Fred money,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and shouts to all the producers on there that produced
- 6:55Speaker 1: fire top to bottom. You know, I don't play man,
- 6:57Speaker 1: You and take I take this serious. You got Royce there, Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: me and Royce is serious. I didn't want to leak it.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I just want people to hear when it when the projects. Now,
- 7:08Speaker 1: obviously most people know you from your dip Set times,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I want to kind of go back before that, kind
- 7:13Speaker 1: of give me your history of how you got into music. Man, Like,
- 7:18Speaker 1: we're like, like, at what year did you start taking
- 7:20Speaker 1: this shit serious? Obviously there was there was a jail
- 7:24Speaker 1: Rider before you started to work with Dip Set. Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 1: hell yeah, I was eleven when I first started. I
- 7:29Speaker 1: was influenced by like Wu Tang Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Big
- 7:33Speaker 1: Big Punk, Big Al, you know what I mean. But yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I started rapping as at eleven, twelve, thirteen, you know,
- 7:40Speaker 1: running the streets, battling, getting my making a name for myself.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And then somebody at sixteen, somebody introduced me to Killer
- 7:48Speaker 1: in hallm one day. So yeah, and then history from there.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So from sixteen on, you was just cam locked in
- 7:54Speaker 1: with you from sixteen and a yeah, a fact damn
- 7:58Speaker 1: showing me the ropes. You know, I was like I
- 8:01Speaker 1: was like a sponge around Jewels, around Kim around gym,
- 8:04Speaker 1: just you know, picking up little things from everything business
- 8:07Speaker 1: and at what point in time, So obviously sixteen years old,
- 8:11Speaker 1: you meet Cam? How long how long after that was
- 8:14Speaker 1: it before you actually you know, were officially Well, it
- 8:17Speaker 1: took me a minute because I had to prove myself,
- 8:21Speaker 1: you know, and we was like we're from Harlem, so
- 8:23Speaker 1: we always competitive. So Cam used to test me like
- 8:27Speaker 1: I was wild young, and it don't matter where it
- 8:30Speaker 1: was at. I'll take the train there, I'll walk there.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It didn't matter. I was that hungry. So you know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: he'll make sure I was on my toes. So anytime
- 8:38Speaker 1: I come around, he'll be like, yo, let me hear
- 8:41Speaker 1: some It could be a room full of people. Just
- 8:44Speaker 1: we could be at a bar right here, something and
- 8:46Speaker 1: if it sounds like something, I spit a w reck.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Now I heard that. Let me hear something else. Or
- 8:51Speaker 1: you falling off? Oh I know you ain't slacking. So
- 8:56Speaker 1: I never wanted that reaction from anybody. So I always
- 8:58Speaker 1: stayed on my toes and I always proved myself like
- 9:01Speaker 1: they didn't have to come to me, like I hear
- 9:04Speaker 1: is a video shoot, I'll pull up to the video
- 9:06Speaker 1: shoot with my mixtape done. Caim, Look, I'm don here.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm ready. I'm ready. I just need you to host it.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it out. What year? What year was?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Uh okay, I don't know how old you are, but
- 9:15Speaker 1: when you're sixteen and you first thirty five, So when
- 9:18Speaker 1: you when you're sixteen you first meet Cam, this is
- 9:21Speaker 1: around with the which era is this? This is after?
- 9:26Speaker 1: This is after? Yeah, this is around the time I
- 9:28Speaker 1: met him, right when Juel's got signed. Jim didn't even
- 9:31Speaker 1: have a deal yet. So was this around taking me home? No,
- 9:34Speaker 1: come home, Come Home? That's like a Drake song. Bro.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I just had this huge Drake argument all day to
- 9:42Speaker 1: day on the internet and I was just listening to
- 9:44Speaker 1: Drake's album in my car. He's all right, that's what
- 9:48Speaker 1: the argument was about. But no come home with me.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I feel like it was like Cam's like coming out party, uh,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know, his first project with Rockefeller, and I feel
- 10:00Speaker 1: like that kicked off the real Like obviously Dipset was
- 10:03Speaker 1: doing their thing with the mixtapte, and I feel like
- 10:05Speaker 1: that really kicked off the wave of like the movement
- 10:08Speaker 1: where it was felt nationwide like oh yeah, like Dipset
- 10:12Speaker 1: was something that wasn't just like New York's secret. You
- 10:15Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. No, that's a fact. Like I
- 10:17Speaker 1: don't know if Cam planned it or I really think
- 10:20Speaker 1: it probably happened naturally. But he has that confidence like
- 10:24Speaker 1: all of us from Halem has that confidence where it's
- 10:26Speaker 1: like this is this is what we're gonna do. Be,
- 10:29Speaker 1: We're gonna put out this, We're gonna we was like
- 10:31Speaker 1: the first dip set honestly was like the first rap
- 10:35Speaker 1: group to put out street mixtapes without DJs like the
- 10:38Speaker 1: DJ because usually you could debate, you could debate j Unit,
- 10:43Speaker 1: you could debate because they came out saying but they
- 10:46Speaker 1: still had like when you say with out of DJ,
- 10:48Speaker 1: like obviously they had who Kid and I think who
- 10:50Speaker 1: Kid was was DJ NO, but Caseills hosted I was
- 10:56Speaker 1: hosted the dip set ship. Yeah, so you were around
- 11:00Speaker 1: during You might not have been official yet, but you
- 11:02Speaker 1: were around like the diplomatic community wave Like, yeah, I
- 11:06Speaker 1: was supposed to be on the first album, but the
- 11:08Speaker 1: song me and Kim and mheard McGruff from Harlem shouts
- 11:11Speaker 1: to him. We had didn't get cleared. So little things
- 11:16Speaker 1: like that, I felt like God put in my in
- 11:19Speaker 1: my path, in my way for me to go harder
- 11:21Speaker 1: from haters to little little obstacles like that to where
- 11:25Speaker 1: it's like not easy for me, so I can always
- 11:28Speaker 1: stay on my toes and always focus. But you was
- 11:30Speaker 1: around during that time, No I was around. I was
- 11:33Speaker 1: just crazy. That's like, YO, tell me about those times, man,
- 11:36Speaker 1: because I just remember vividly as a kid buying the
- 11:39Speaker 1: Double XL where everybody was in there with the Thames
- 11:43Speaker 1: and that was like when I first saw like I
- 11:45Speaker 1: really got to kind of like figure out who Jim
- 11:48Speaker 1: Jones was. Yeah, I forget everybody had jerseys on in
- 11:52Speaker 1: the ex Double Jerseys, Michelle Times and shit, I remember
- 11:56Speaker 1: that you're vividly like the airbrush toms and all that.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Ye yep, But like, what was it like being around
- 12:02Speaker 1: that energy because we look at it now and it's
- 12:04Speaker 1: like we missed that in hip hop? You know. I
- 12:08Speaker 1: think dipset is so nostalgic to so many people. To me,
- 12:14Speaker 1: you know specifically, I remember, you know, just like that
- 12:16Speaker 1: whole era, just just just the feeling that it brought
- 12:19Speaker 1: to the game, and like, I feel like it's missing,
- 12:21Speaker 1: but you were there for it, Like did you realize
- 12:24Speaker 1: like how special this shit was at the time? Because
- 12:26Speaker 1: at the time, it wasn't like Dipset was like the
- 12:29Speaker 1: commercially the biggest ship, but it was like in this
- 12:32Speaker 1: it was like culturally so big, you know what I'm saying.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Like obviously, Kim had hit records, Jewels had hit records,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but I mean like like culturally they meant so much
- 12:42Speaker 1: at that time. Did you know, like what you were
- 12:44Speaker 1: part of at that time when you were like a kid.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Reason I even got damn with Kim and Hollered as
- 12:49Speaker 1: somebody to get me to him is because he him
- 12:51Speaker 1: and Jim and Juelle's already had that wave already where
- 12:55Speaker 1: it was just a hood wave where it's like everybody knew.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I mean, I'm pretty sure other places knew about Joel's
- 13:02Speaker 1: in the beginning or whatever off cam sde album, but
- 13:06Speaker 1: but uh, like uh, the mixtapes and and and those
- 13:12Speaker 1: albums or whatever had them as her legends already. So
- 13:16Speaker 1: me just you know what I mean, getting down with
- 13:18Speaker 1: them at that time was like a dream come true.
- 13:21Speaker 1: It's like, Yo, that's like somebody being from Brooklyn getting
- 13:23Speaker 1: signed with Jay Z, or somebody being from la and
- 13:26Speaker 1: getting down with Snoop Dogg dog Pam. You know, what
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm saying. But it was just it was magical. It's
- 13:31Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, because it's like I
- 13:32Speaker 1: would come in and you know they swag. Is just
- 13:37Speaker 1: like or I was swag because I was there. But
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I'm looking from the outside, looking at
- 13:41Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But it was just it
- 13:44Speaker 1: was dope. It was dope, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Just from the fashion to the from to the touring
- 13:49Speaker 1: to the radio freestyles. Uh uh everything from when we
- 13:54Speaker 1: was at the bottom to where we at the top. Everything,
- 13:58Speaker 1: the whole, the whole uh run we had was was
- 14:01Speaker 1: just epic. It's dope. Do you remember how you were
- 14:03Speaker 1: when you officially finally got your name on the on
- 14:06Speaker 1: the contract with Cam. I was eighteen years old. I
- 14:09Speaker 1: remember because uh we was on the tour bus and
- 14:12Speaker 1: I was waiting for the because we was on the
- 14:14Speaker 1: tour for U diplomatic community too, and I wanted to
- 14:19Speaker 1: uh oh, matter of fact, Cam wanted me. Cam like yo,
- 14:23Speaker 1: I wanted the tour to be over. Matter of fact,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm like, damn, I want to get back and pick
- 14:27Speaker 1: up my check because I had just signed or whatever,
- 14:29Speaker 1: And Cam like nah, be. You ain't picking up the
- 14:32Speaker 1: check until y'all drink a whole box of scissor. We
- 14:35Speaker 1: celebrated drink. It was like a hundred nips. I remember.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It was just like dumb hot. But I ain't gonna
- 14:44Speaker 1: hold you. I was happy, you know what I'm saying,
- 14:46Speaker 1: And I ain't care. I'm like, I'm gonna drink at
- 14:47Speaker 1: least half a box and tell him I'm sick. But yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know that was that was. That was dope, you
- 14:53Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Soon as we got back, I signed.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I remember that was my last time I took the
- 14:57Speaker 1: train and somebody talked my ear off death, like, yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: what you're doing on the train, don't worry. It should
- 15:03Speaker 1: be the last time, yo. How I never got the
- 15:06Speaker 1: trices or was it good? Yeah? It was good. It
- 15:09Speaker 1: was good. I mean, it's just different. It was just
- 15:11Speaker 1: what was it? Because I just remember seeing that like
- 15:14Speaker 1: the sources ship like I wasn't old enough to drink
- 15:17Speaker 1: obviously it was. It had to flavor like a like
- 15:20Speaker 1: a like uh hypnotic hypnotics, purple hit like a purple hypnotic,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean type of taste. I missed
- 15:30Speaker 1: that whole wave in life. I've never even drank hypnotic
- 15:33Speaker 1: and I'd like to consider myself a mild alcoholic man.
- 15:35Speaker 1: But that but that's how Yeah, but then you was
- 15:38Speaker 1: drinking incredible hawks. But anyway, but okay, okay, okay, but
- 15:44Speaker 1: look missed that whole Waven life. That's how you know,
- 15:48Speaker 1: the the just the aura, our aura. How crazy it
- 15:51Speaker 1: was because Jim had that idea. And you know, when
- 15:55Speaker 1: an artist says, yo, I'm gonna come up with my
- 15:57Speaker 1: own liquor and all that, it doesn't matter where he
- 15:59Speaker 1: at at his in his career. It's dope, it's salutable.
- 16:02Speaker 1: But we care about your music more than the sil
- 16:07Speaker 1: things that you're coming out with. But every when we
- 16:10Speaker 1: came out with that, everyone ran with it. That bottle
- 16:13Speaker 1: was like a rose bottle in the hood. Everywhere we went,
- 16:16Speaker 1: it was just it was just fire. I mean, just
- 16:18Speaker 1: to you know, we was that influential. I mean when
- 16:21Speaker 1: I toured the world, that's when I really realized how
- 16:23Speaker 1: big dipset was. Going to Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: all those places on my own at that Yeah, that's crazy.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Fast forward a year and a half or two ago,
- 16:36Speaker 1: when did when did you when did you guys drop
- 16:38Speaker 1: your your project you upstage? How long ago was that?
- 16:42Speaker 1: It was like last year of the year twenty eighteen,
- 16:44Speaker 1: so yeah, so about two years ago. What do you
- 16:48Speaker 1: guys dropped it the same day as Dipset dropped their
- 16:51Speaker 1: shit h the same day as Diplomatic Community, and then
- 16:54Speaker 1: I remember hitting play on it and I was on
- 16:57Speaker 1: the intro. You guys used like a question should I
- 17:00Speaker 1: asked Jim in an interview like as the intro, and
- 17:02Speaker 1: I was like, oh, and that's I think. I was, Yeah, yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 1: you said thanks for the shoutout that so I'm like,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you know what, let me hit him No, But uh,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think that there's like, what's your relationship like with
- 17:15Speaker 1: everybody in the crew now? Because I feel like that
- 17:18Speaker 1: kind of felt like there might be some some you know,
- 17:20Speaker 1: obviously you guys dropped like the record, no reunions, like
- 17:24Speaker 1: is there any static? It's just a bunch of us
- 17:26Speaker 1: and we're not always on the same page, you know
- 17:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So you know it's all love, It's not.
- 17:30Speaker 1: It wasn't like on some I I'm gonna put out
- 17:33Speaker 1: the album and as a disk, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:36Speaker 1: or as a response. It's like, Okay, I hear that
- 17:38Speaker 1: they putting out an album, let's do our own version.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Since we can't do I ain't get no phone call,
- 17:44Speaker 1: but I'm not gonna lie. A week before I was releasing,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Joel's had called me, you know what I'm saying, to
- 17:50Speaker 1: get on the album. But this is before he was
- 17:52Speaker 1: locked up by right, Oh yeah cool, tell you yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 1: shout the Jewels. He just came home. But it wasn't Yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: it wasn't no static. But as far as now, I
- 18:01Speaker 1: got no problems with nobody. I supposed to. I supposed
- 18:03Speaker 1: to gym, I speak to duels, you know what I mean? Here,
- 18:05Speaker 1: it seems like Cam is the one who consistently Cam
- 18:09Speaker 1: is the one that messed everything up. Nah, but it
- 18:11Speaker 1: just seems it feels like he's the guy who's like
- 18:15Speaker 1: I feel like Jim and Jewels are always cool. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: feel like it's always like a Cam thing, at least
- 18:20Speaker 1: from the outside looking in as a fan, Like, yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Cam is Cam is Kim. You
- 18:24Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. He's he's gonna move on his
- 18:26Speaker 1: own time, So it is what it is. Do you
- 18:29Speaker 1: know how he felt about you? Guys doing that about
- 18:32Speaker 1: doing the project. Yeah, I heard from from somebody that
- 18:36Speaker 1: he probably mad at me. But you know, so have
- 18:38Speaker 1: you kill No? I haven't. No, I haven't, but shouts
- 18:42Speaker 1: to Kim. You know what I'm saying, he doing business
- 18:44Speaker 1: with my guy Ryan. We got a whole CBD company
- 18:47Speaker 1: coming out or whatever, call legends of him where we're
- 18:50Speaker 1: doing you know, lines with different legends or whatever. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: check out that. Do you find it a gift in
- 19:00Speaker 1: a curse? Being associate Like obviously with being a part
- 19:05Speaker 1: of dip set and the allure in the history, there's
- 19:07Speaker 1: always a built in fan base for that. Like it's
- 19:11Speaker 1: almost like you know fan base by its like as
- 19:15Speaker 1: soon as like you, like somebody finds out your dip set,
- 19:18Speaker 1: like right now with Tde, some if TDE signed somebody,
- 19:22Speaker 1: they got crazy fans that are just gonna fuck with
- 19:24Speaker 1: that artist no matter what. Is that a gift in
- 19:26Speaker 1: a curse to kind of like always carry the dip
- 19:29Speaker 1: set like with you, like, like, is it it's a
- 19:33Speaker 1: gift in a curse? Because it's like sometimes a person
- 19:37Speaker 1: might not know how to answer a certain question at
- 19:40Speaker 1: a certain moment, you know what I'm saying, Because it's
- 19:42Speaker 1: it's a bunch of us, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Plus that name is attached to anywhere I go. Whether
- 19:47Speaker 1: I do an interview next week, them questions are gonna
- 19:50Speaker 1: come up, you know what I'm saying. So, but I
- 19:52Speaker 1: don't think it's a it's a curse at all, you
- 19:54Speaker 1: know what I mean. I don't think it's a curse
- 19:56Speaker 1: because I help build that, you know what I'm saying. So,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I don't think it's a curse. Yeah, we talk about Harlem,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and Harlem's got such a crazy history. I remember the
- 20:03Speaker 1: first time I ever went to New York, the first like,
- 20:06Speaker 1: one of the only things that I care to do
- 20:08Speaker 1: is go to Harlem and take a picture in front
- 20:09Speaker 1: of the big album mural. Oh yeah, we were just
- 20:12Speaker 1: out there. I had the Ferrari out there. Yeah, baby
- 20:15Speaker 1: mom at the time. We took the train and I
- 20:17Speaker 1: was like, look, I just need to get this one picture.
- 20:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. That's crazy. We win ate
- 20:21Speaker 1: at what's the soul food spot there? The big popular
- 20:24Speaker 1: soul food place you talk about Rufe Chris, You're talking
- 20:26Speaker 1: about soul food spot Amy Rooths my bad, Yeah, Sylvia's.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I went to Sylvias. Yeah, yeah, Fred is more outside
- 20:35Speaker 1: than me. I'm in the studio all day, he said,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'm in Fred, that's him, that's I'm outside. You gotta
- 20:40Speaker 1: come outside. Yeah. So, like you've obviously been putting in work,
- 20:44Speaker 1: but like with with with the new project, Davey somebody
- 20:48Speaker 1: also who you know is one of the greats the
- 20:52Speaker 1: at the city right now? Is it? Like you you
- 20:57Speaker 1: mentioned that there's gonna be an album. How do you
- 20:59Speaker 1: separate what's on the EPO what's on the album? Like
- 21:01Speaker 1: do you tuck certain ship like this is the album? Shit?
- 21:03Speaker 1: So yeah, because I with albums we had, I got
- 21:07Speaker 1: songs that are like they sound like album cuts with
- 21:12Speaker 1: my EPs or my mixtapes on my street albums or
- 21:14Speaker 1: whatever you want to label them. As long as they
- 21:16Speaker 1: not it's not called the album. It's more of a
- 21:20Speaker 1: like a I'm proving myself. I still got it, I'm
- 21:24Speaker 1: still better than everybody. This is how I'm coming. So
- 21:27Speaker 1: you know what time it is when this album is dropping.
- 21:29Speaker 1: See the album, you'll have some of that, but you'll
- 21:32Speaker 1: have more of a mixture of concepts and real songs
- 21:35Speaker 1: laid out with hooks and you know what I mean.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Few skits. This is the get warmed up again. I
- 21:41Speaker 1: haven't put nothing out in two years, so it's crazy
- 21:43Speaker 1: to think how how how big of a wrench was you?
- 21:47Speaker 1: You going to jail man? Do you think in your momentum?
- 21:49Speaker 1: Because I felt like you had so much momentum. It
- 21:52Speaker 1: was a good That's a gift in the curse, honestly,
- 21:54Speaker 1: because the curse is taking me away from my family,
- 21:57Speaker 1: taking my freedom away obviously, and taking my career away
- 21:59Speaker 1: for the moment, what about the gift part. The gift
- 22:02Speaker 1: is uh, snapping me out of it and keeping me
- 22:05Speaker 1: focused and waking me up. It just made me away.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It got me back into books and really has me
- 22:12Speaker 1: more focused. Like two years. I mean, yeah, that's that's
- 22:17Speaker 1: a lifetime in hip hop. Yeah, that's that's yeah. I
- 22:20Speaker 1: mean if I wasn't. I mean, you look around all
- 22:23Speaker 1: the top top rappers of what how old are they? Yeah, dude,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I just had this conversation with Benny, like Benny's old,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Like damn, Benny's like an older Like you know, we
- 22:36Speaker 1: look like generic hip hop fans look at Griselda as
- 22:40Speaker 1: these new artists. Because it came up like, well, for
- 22:42Speaker 1: these guys have been grinding for a minute, like these
- 22:45Speaker 1: guys are my age, like, yo, Like, these guys aren't
- 22:47Speaker 1: new rappers. You're just hearing them now, but these are
- 22:49Speaker 1: grown ass men. You know what I wanted to ask Benny.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I wanted to see because back in the day, I
- 22:54Speaker 1: always heard the name Black Sopranos, so I wanted to
- 22:57Speaker 1: know if they always if he always went with that
- 22:59Speaker 1: with that, I think that that's been around for a while,
- 23:02Speaker 1: yo Oka. Yeah, and then even Griselda didn't become Griselda
- 23:06Speaker 1: officially until I think like twenty sixteen. It was I
- 23:09Speaker 1: forget what West Side Gun had, what the name of
- 23:12Speaker 1: his label was prior to that. But yeah, the Buffalo shit, Yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 1: they got it on smash. How inspiring is that to
- 23:19Speaker 1: see like bars the shit you Yeah, it's five. It
- 23:24Speaker 1: gets me. It gets me. It gets me like jealous,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but not in a bad way, and it gets me motivated.
- 23:31Speaker 1: But that's what that's what the two thousands used to
- 23:35Speaker 1: do for me, Like the Fabs, Jada Kiss albums, Lloyd
- 23:39Speaker 1: Banks freestyles, like all of those freestyles and dudes that
- 23:44Speaker 1: was really lyrical, from Stack Bundles to everybody that was
- 23:48Speaker 1: that was really rapping. It's like they kept me on
- 23:52Speaker 1: my toes for one for two. They motivated me. When
- 23:56Speaker 1: it's like it's like I'm hating and I'm motivated at
- 23:59Speaker 1: the same time. I was like, Oh, we killed that.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I gotta go crazy the next time I go up there,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I gotta go crazy on the next freestyle. I do
- 24:07Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? Because now though, I mean, well,
- 24:11Speaker 1: before Griselda and after the two thousands, obviously it just
- 24:16Speaker 1: was drop man. It's like, yeah, you know, if you
- 24:19Speaker 1: were paying attention there. It wasn't like if you were
- 24:22Speaker 1: like a super you know, underground head. But like definitely
- 24:26Speaker 1: on the on the forefront year though the ship is.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I always say like the dark years are like twenty
- 24:32Speaker 1: seventeen through twenty nineteen when the SoundCloud shit really took over.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It was bad man. There was like even when I
- 24:39Speaker 1: came a little Pump a little Pump era. Yeah, that
- 24:42Speaker 1: that era, that shit was. I mean it's still going on,
- 24:45Speaker 1: nah that. I think that shit's finally dying out, man,
- 24:47Speaker 1: I really do. Like I think all that Antiqus shit,
- 24:50Speaker 1: all that shit like perfect fading out six nine shit. Everybody,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it was like a fucking car crash. Nobody could look away,
- 24:58Speaker 1: but then when the music came out, no one cares. Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I think it was more about let's see what's gonna
- 25:03Speaker 1: happen in the antics. Yeah, like all you know, his
- 25:07Speaker 1: story is insane, Like whenever they make his movie, like,
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch it because it's a crazy story. Like
- 25:13Speaker 1: if someone just told you that mm hm, and like
- 25:16Speaker 1: without knowing who he was or having any sort of
- 25:18Speaker 1: personal feelings to it, you'd be like, nah, that's crazy,
- 25:22Speaker 1: fam normal, Like look like that's a movie you'd watch because,
- 25:26Speaker 1: like the ship is, it's a crazy story. But yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I think that that whole wave of like people being
- 25:32Speaker 1: known more for the bullshit they pop on their cloud
- 25:34Speaker 1: than their music. I think COVID low key kind of
- 25:37Speaker 1: helped too, because people aren't standing on couches and clubs
- 25:39Speaker 1: right now. They're like that's the fact they're consuming music
- 25:42Speaker 1: in their headphones, got their cars. Yeah, you gotta wrap
- 25:46Speaker 1: And that's I think it's it's helping bring a lot
- 25:48Speaker 1: of the dope ship to to the like yeah, because
- 25:52Speaker 1: if you look the week that they need a butcher
- 25:55Speaker 1: black Dot, Freddy Gibbs hist gives tons of dope shit
- 26:01Speaker 1: is throw got thirty eight specially. Yeah, thirty eight Spash
- 26:04Speaker 1: is crazy and he's been nice. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:07Speaker 1: for sure, he's crazy. I need to get him up here.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. Him and Benny's project was crazy a couple
- 26:12Speaker 1: of years ago. But yeah, I think, like you know,
- 26:15Speaker 1: with you, I think it's like it's it's like you said,
- 26:18Speaker 1: like it was a gift in the curse that you
- 26:19Speaker 1: you know, went away. And so how different was the
- 26:23Speaker 1: like the dynamic of the crew from when you went
- 26:27Speaker 1: into when you got out. When I went in, it
- 26:30Speaker 1: was already it was still like fractured. Yeah, it was.
- 26:34Speaker 1: It was like everybody doing their own thing. I mean
- 26:36Speaker 1: it was like that before, but we moved as a unit.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I think fame and money it just made like our
- 26:43Speaker 1: circle crowded because now once we all popped, now we
- 26:46Speaker 1: all got an entourages and now it's not just us,
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's all of us. It's like this enterage, that enterrage,
- 26:53Speaker 1: that entourage. So I don't know, I just think maybe
- 26:56Speaker 1: a complicated things, but it's all love. It's not like
- 26:59Speaker 1: I think if Kim was to pick up the phone
- 27:00Speaker 1: and call anybody, he could make a dips ever union
- 27:04Speaker 1: happen anytime. No, for sure, Yeah, no, I think he's
- 27:07Speaker 1: got that. Yo. We were just talking about how back
- 27:10Speaker 1: in the day dipset it was like a thing like
- 27:14Speaker 1: a signature to rhyme the same words, to rhyme the
- 27:18Speaker 1: same words. Yeah, I think, in my heart, I think
- 27:21Speaker 1: Jewel started that. No, for sure, that's a Jewel statement. All.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I just was listening to some throwback freeze that he
- 27:27Speaker 1: had and that was the first because I studied lyrics
- 27:29Speaker 1: for real, and that's the first time I seen that
- 27:31Speaker 1: scheme where he's. Cam wasn't doing that on like SDE
- 27:35Speaker 1: and even come Home. Cam started doing that after Jewel's,
- 27:38Speaker 1: but it didn't really matter because Joel's is his all this,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, but yeah, Jewell's I
- 27:43Speaker 1: think Jewel started that when he said, you think a
- 27:45Speaker 1: good jobs making twenty five an hour got cats selling
- 27:49Speaker 1: twenty five twenties by the hour, That's what he's saying.
- 27:52Speaker 1: And I'm the one paying. I'm twenty five an hour. Yeah, nah,
- 27:57Speaker 1: twenty five for what told you? Like, Yo, they go
- 28:02Speaker 1: ride the same shit, but it's it's it means something
- 28:05Speaker 1: different every time. Every time. It's like it makes it
- 28:08Speaker 1: that much harder. Yeah, facts, facts it's almost harder to
- 28:11Speaker 1: do that than rhymen it with a new word. That's easy. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you know what I was just telling. I had my
- 28:17Speaker 1: video shoot for this song nothing Means Nothing off my
- 28:20Speaker 1: album off my EP coming out October thirtieth, Friday, Yeah Friday,
- 28:25Speaker 1: feature in thirty eight, So that's just coming out Monday,
- 28:28Speaker 1: So this will be out already, dope. So the EP's out. Yeah,
- 28:32Speaker 1: EP is out. Go get that And if you watching this,
- 28:35Speaker 1: then you already know the EP. Crazy and if you don't,
- 28:38Speaker 1: then go listen to that. But anyway, I was just
- 28:41Speaker 1: shooting a video in the heights with my god thirty
- 28:43Speaker 1: eight specially. I was telling them because on the verse
- 28:46Speaker 1: that he spit, he rhymed for like thirty two bars,
- 28:50Speaker 1: but the same rhyme, like the same how you explain it,
- 28:54Speaker 1: like the same rhyme and pattern, Like he never switched
- 28:57Speaker 1: the rhyme scheme, huh know, the scheme like the yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: like he's never yeah like that, he just rhymed with
- 29:06Speaker 1: not the same words, but the same scheme. Yeah, the
- 29:08Speaker 1: same scheme, like it's never switched out to rhyme with
- 29:12Speaker 1: anything else. And it was fired straight through. I'm like
- 29:14Speaker 1: that's fire. That's impressive to keep that going because it's
- 29:18Speaker 1: so easy to just say two lines and then switch
- 29:20Speaker 1: it again and then and then a lot of these
- 29:22Speaker 1: rappers they don't rhyme multiple syllables. So to me, this
- 29:26Speaker 1: don't be sounding impressive, but I know to the people
- 29:28Speaker 1: it's like, nah, that was real shitty kick though. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I think everybody has their own thing. I think, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 1: there's artists who say things in an extremely simple way,
- 29:40Speaker 1: but the way they say it is the character, you know,
- 29:44Speaker 1: the way they say it. You know, I think that
- 29:47Speaker 1: there's guys who rap really fucking fast. They don't say anything,
- 29:50Speaker 1: but they all flow. That's just the flow. And there
- 29:56Speaker 1: are there are people who could do both. There's people
- 29:57Speaker 1: who rap like that that are fucking fired, like m
- 30:00Speaker 1: yeah am Tech nine. Like there's some dudes who could
- 30:03Speaker 1: really get down. But like, I think that just everybody
- 30:05Speaker 1: has their own thing, like you know, and then there's
- 30:07Speaker 1: guys like Royce who are like fucking old Knights Jed Eyes,
- 30:11Speaker 1: like Race to Fight nine can do is elite. It's crazy.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Do you like get like intimidating when you know you're like,
- 30:18Speaker 1: did you first of all, do you know Race is
- 30:19Speaker 1: getting on the record like or is it something you
- 30:21Speaker 1: send to him. I'm gonna be real with you, bro,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I ain't intimidated by nobody's work in a session with
- 30:26Speaker 1: Low Wayne. Low Wayne my gotto. But Race is a
- 30:29Speaker 1: much better rapper than Lil Wayne. For the record, it's ablatable.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Lil Wayne is bigger, It's debatable. I don't know, man,
- 30:35Speaker 1: Race is a fucking murderer. Bro. I gotta be in
- 30:36Speaker 1: a student with Royce to really because I witnessed this
- 30:39Speaker 1: man wheezy like it's different off the top record diverse
- 30:44Speaker 1: and say I don't like the middle, erase the middle
- 30:47Speaker 1: and then go back in and just no, not go
- 30:49Speaker 1: back in. He's still live and do it right there
- 30:52Speaker 1: after he said a Race. Yeah, so you you've seen
- 30:54Speaker 1: Wayne's creative process. What is that like? Is it no pen?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Is it no pen? No pen? It's just you might
- 31:01Speaker 1: listen to the beat a few times, chuckle, laugh a
- 31:04Speaker 1: little bit, and then walk to the boot. Is he
- 31:06Speaker 1: just punching as he goes? No? One shot deal really,
- 31:10Speaker 1: And if you don't like a line or he don't
- 31:12Speaker 1: like to go back and fix it, you just say, yeah,
- 31:14Speaker 1: let's do that over, do you? How do you do
- 31:16Speaker 1: your thing because obviously you're the writer, writer one tape,
- 31:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean? You don't write down anything? No, no, no, okay, yeah, right,
- 31:23Speaker 1: because I trying to force myself to bust my brain
- 31:26Speaker 1: to try to remember that. But yeah, I notice nowadays,
- 31:28Speaker 1: like uh, a lot of rappers, especially now with the
- 31:33Speaker 1: way like melody infused music has like kind of taken over,
- 31:37Speaker 1: Like a lot of artists. They will just go into
- 31:39Speaker 1: the boots and then they're like they'll lay down like
- 31:43Speaker 1: the melody like and then to it and then they'll
- 31:46Speaker 1: just punch in line by line. It's like that's like
- 31:49Speaker 1: when somebody needs a ghost writer. You you you let
- 31:52Speaker 1: me hear the beat and you tell me like you
- 31:55Speaker 1: mumble to it. This is the type of flow flow
- 31:57Speaker 1: because now you need the word no, I've seen it.
- 31:59Speaker 1: It's it's actually a reference. It's it's like, yo, they'll
- 32:02Speaker 1: lay that down and then they'll sit there and smoke
- 32:04Speaker 1: and listen and then they'll go in and just punching. No.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But it's but that's it. But it's it's it's still creative.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It's still creative. It's just not I feel like it's
- 32:13Speaker 1: harder to be able to say what you want to
- 32:16Speaker 1: say and get your point across without thinking about it
- 32:19Speaker 1: too much because Bobby ram and multiple words meaning multiple
- 32:25Speaker 1: things at the same time, with metaphors, punch lines, and
- 32:29Speaker 1: it's just it's just, you know, I'm a fan of that.
- 32:31Speaker 1: That's know what I'm saying. When we're talking about Harlem,
- 32:34Speaker 1: who do you have as your top five? Harlem? Mcs
- 32:37Speaker 1: ever ever ever on Big l Mace Cam, not me yourself? Damn,
- 32:53Speaker 1: I thought it was more than three from I think
- 32:56Speaker 1: Davis is making his way into that kind of is
- 32:58Speaker 1: a young legend, that's my But he's still catalog though. Man,
- 33:02Speaker 1: he's still young. He's got a lot of catalog. Yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 1: Davis is my god. David's Yeah, Dave's is definitely. He's
- 33:08Speaker 1: definitely up there. But as far as my top five,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I would say, Big ol Cam Mace, do you got
- 33:17Speaker 1: who else? Out of respect? You put asab Rocky in
- 33:20Speaker 1: there just because of the wave that he created. As
- 33:23Speaker 1: far as maybe not lyrically, he's not literally there. Asad
- 33:27Speaker 1: Rocky is nice though now he's under a different type
- 33:31Speaker 1: of rapper. He's a little bit more creative when it
- 33:34Speaker 1: comes to like putting together rhyms and songs and it's
- 33:37Speaker 1: dope still, but it's not that type of rap, the
- 33:40Speaker 1: big pun that type of rap that I was influenced by, Like,
- 33:45Speaker 1: oh yeah, but ain't really like he might not even
- 33:47Speaker 1: know who. Of course, come on man, okay, Bodega Bams
- 33:53Speaker 1: is fire. He I don't know that's got in that conversation,
- 33:55Speaker 1: but he's that's my guy. He does. He's definitely deserves
- 33:58Speaker 1: my ship, you know what, I deserve a shot because
- 34:01Speaker 1: he's nice. He definitely from Harlem or not. We're not
- 34:03Speaker 1: thinking of somebody bro. Yeah, g depth, but he just
- 34:08Speaker 1: wasn't a wasn't even am child of the ghetto. Oh
- 34:11Speaker 1: that ship was so fire. It was so good. I
- 34:14Speaker 1: mean I think at that one album crazy yeah yeah yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 1: but he's like he did catch your body, they find himself,
- 34:23Speaker 1: you know what's crazy. I was like in Poughkeepsie performance
- 34:26Speaker 1: turned himself in. Yeah, before he turned himself in. I
- 34:30Speaker 1: was in Poughkeepsie performing and and then I'm on stage
- 34:34Speaker 1: rapping and I see somebody get on stage with like
- 34:37Speaker 1: a big colorful bubble coat, and I'm like, I ain't
- 34:41Speaker 1: coming nobody. I could see it from from the side
- 34:43Speaker 1: of my eyes. So I look as g Debt and
- 34:47Speaker 1: he's just like going crazy. But he looked a little
- 34:50Speaker 1: like off. So I'm like, you know, I talked to
- 34:51Speaker 1: him afterwards, we spoke. He was there. Yeah, I'm just
- 34:56Speaker 1: trying to remember a clear but shouts to him. He
- 34:59Speaker 1: was just that was before he turned himself in, so
- 35:01Speaker 1: I knew it was something a little bit, a little
- 35:03Speaker 1: bit off for shots to him. He's still a hallm legend. Yeah, Mace,
- 35:06Speaker 1: I feel like there's and also get enough respects at
- 35:09Speaker 1: mc mace was crazy yea, get all the pross of
- 35:12Speaker 1: my books now. I just feel like in general we
- 35:14Speaker 1: talk about like overall, you're saying crazy run Man, Crazy Run.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Double Double Up was a little disappointing, but you know,
- 35:23Speaker 1: he was trying to get out that contract. That's how
- 35:25Speaker 1: I looked at it. He was trying to get away
- 35:26Speaker 1: from There was some there was like two records on
- 35:28Speaker 1: Double Up. But I remember buying Double Up and I
- 35:30Speaker 1: was like, oh damn, because he was trying to match
- 35:33Speaker 1: it up with that Hall the World album. Oh yeah,
- 35:36Speaker 1: that's right, the Harlem World album. They came out like
- 35:39Speaker 1: that's the triple plot. They came out super That's when
- 35:42Speaker 1: he was trying. He tried to he dropped double up
- 35:44Speaker 1: to get out his contract with Puff. That's what he's
- 35:46Speaker 1: trying to do. And he was like pretty much he
- 35:49Speaker 1: said it like he was kind of forced to put
- 35:51Speaker 1: that guy put together that album whatever. When you were
- 35:53Speaker 1: a kid, was like when him and Cam and Big
- 35:56Speaker 1: L was that like movement known in Harlem, like it
- 36:02Speaker 1: was Children of the Corn, right, Yeah, but that was
- 36:05Speaker 1: like I was too young for that. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 36:08Speaker 1: mean once I got older, I doubled back and listened,
- 36:11Speaker 1: But I was too young for that. People don't even
- 36:13Speaker 1: realize that Mace had like an entire you know, Murder
- 36:17Speaker 1: Mace was a real thing. Yo. It was so crazy
- 36:21Speaker 1: when Mace came back as like with the Jesus shit
- 36:25Speaker 1: and then he went back to the gangster shit with
- 36:27Speaker 1: G Unit for like one mixtape. I was so confused.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I was like what, But honestly, I'm at the same time,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I might have been confused, but I was hyped though.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, Murder back on Murder Time, Okay, Yeah
- 36:40Speaker 1: that didn't work out though, And then he went back
- 36:43Speaker 1: to the the Welcome Back album with the Brewers hat
- 36:48Speaker 1: on and then yeah, I actually got to meet Mace.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Very nice guys. You have you have you ever worked
- 36:54Speaker 1: with Mace? Nah? No, yeah, you got to bring Murder
- 36:57Speaker 1: Mace back for a verse. Man love to do it
- 37:00Speaker 1: soon with Mace. Mace is a legend, of course, manig
- 37:03Speaker 1: one of the biggest to do it from home. Oh
- 37:05Speaker 1: for sure, I would argue Peak if we're measuring Peak
- 37:10Speaker 1: the biggest. Yeah, I mean he's the only artist I
- 37:14Speaker 1: know that. When I'm talking at that, I'm not talking
- 37:16Speaker 1: about total run or influence on the culture, but I'm
- 37:19Speaker 1: talking about like commercial success Peak wise for like a year,
- 37:23Speaker 1: Cam and Mace. It's it's one of these two commercial
- 37:28Speaker 1: Mace is fucking who you think had was bigger? Oh
- 37:32Speaker 1: Mace you think so? Oh yeah, why you think that?
- 37:36Speaker 1: Oh that's like that because he has songs with Mariah
- 37:39Speaker 1: Because Cam, No, I think it's I think it's like
- 37:43Speaker 1: hard like bro that that like twelve month fucking run.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Mace was like the guy. Well he brung Cam in
- 37:53Speaker 1: for sure. No, you're right, Yeah, Confessions of Fire, I remember, like,
- 37:57Speaker 1: fucking I fuck with that originally because Mace was on it.
- 38:02Speaker 1: What was the song on that album where he was
- 38:04Speaker 1: talking about his aunt or his mom or some crazy ship.
- 38:06Speaker 1: It was some wild ship. The song was actually called
- 38:08Speaker 1: Confessions of Fire Bucket. He ain't say that though, he
- 38:11Speaker 1: ain't say them. Not the mom of the arm throw
- 38:16Speaker 1: you're talking about. You're talking about when I write that
- 38:19Speaker 1: poodle and try to turn the poodle into theles on
- 38:21Speaker 1: confession the song Confessions of Fire. He said, that's when
- 38:24Speaker 1: he's confession. Hey, look up the lyrics and that's to
- 38:26Speaker 1: the song. That's what I'm telling you. But he ain't
- 38:28Speaker 1: saying he said on there about oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 38:32Speaker 1: he might have said. He said no, he said, see
- 38:33Speaker 1: what that dust does. He said he was saying a
- 38:36Speaker 1: bunch of off the crazy ship, and I was like,
- 38:39Speaker 1: this guy is crazy. I don't know if it was no.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I don't think he said the mom but it was.
- 38:43Speaker 1: It was some ship that was like off the wall
- 38:45Speaker 1: like that though, where I was like, oh this guy,
- 38:47Speaker 1: camera is different, I asked him. I said yo, I
- 38:50Speaker 1: say yo, flee while you switch the style. So now
- 38:54Speaker 1: you know, trying to take my ship man see eminem
- 38:57Speaker 1: Rain with the whole ship. Let him have it. But
- 39:00Speaker 1: he was doing it before that. He was doing that
- 39:02Speaker 1: dark ship on the on Confessions of like for high kids.
- 39:05Speaker 1: You want you like violence, bro, because I remember thinking
- 39:08Speaker 1: like there was the Horse and Carriage record, and then
- 39:10Speaker 1: I bought the album and I was like, oh no,
- 39:13Speaker 1: this is something. There's some other This ship is dark.
- 39:17Speaker 1: He's yeah, yeah, look him up. Eric. You know what
- 39:20Speaker 1: what was dope to? Uh uh? The joon with him
- 39:23Speaker 1: and o dB. That was classic. Oh yeah, what do
- 39:27Speaker 1: you what do you think is Camp's best album? His
- 39:30Speaker 1: best overall album. I'm gonna go purple. I mean I'm
- 39:36Speaker 1: a Purple Hayes guy, though Purple Hays. Yeah, fucking that
- 39:39Speaker 1: Killer Can be that he make his beat. It's like
- 39:41Speaker 1: the craziest beat. I don't know if that was a
- 39:42Speaker 1: sample whatever it was, whoever did the killer come? I
- 39:45Speaker 1: was like, oh no, that was that was our pristive
- 39:47Speaker 1: shout out to my guy Prestige. It did sample, sounded
- 39:51Speaker 1: like Killer Can, but he came in and sung it
- 39:54Speaker 1: over and they made it as a sample like try
- 39:56Speaker 1: to alter it. So fuck my fuck mom and father shove.
- 40:03Speaker 1: He said, I fucked my own and I fucked my
- 40:05Speaker 1: mom to die. But when my girl got side of minds,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I was trauma died. Shove the dick down the throat Okay, okay,
- 40:14Speaker 1: I said, man, fucking age test. Oh yeah, no, no, no no,
- 40:18Speaker 1: don't you cut that Up't gonna do the deal with
- 40:22Speaker 1: you now, fucking up Cam. I was trying to get
- 40:25Speaker 1: he was in l a earlier this week, and my boy,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I was trying to get him to come through. That's
- 40:29Speaker 1: like a bucket list interview for me. Killer of course,
- 40:32Speaker 1: the Killer shout to the whole set, I have your phone, sir,
- 40:39Speaker 1: all good buddy, SAO plugging CBD. Yeah, shouts to my guys,
- 40:44Speaker 1: my guys, Ryan, Henry and the good guys over at
- 40:47Speaker 1: Legends of Legends of Hemp. You know what I mean.
- 40:49Speaker 1: We got some some dope ideas coming, man, CBD, CBDs drops,
- 40:54Speaker 1: CBD energy shots, CBD lines, what else massage? Oh it
- 41:01Speaker 1: was vape pens. We got a whole load of stuff coming.
- 41:06Speaker 1: So so the CBD uh side of the game, you
- 41:10Speaker 1: guys got on locked pretty much. Listen, you're not on
- 41:19Speaker 1: the mic, buddy. So I tried to get him to
- 41:21Speaker 1: brief me on the way, but I couldn't remember everything.
- 41:23Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, CBD is a worldwide markets exactly.
- 41:28Speaker 1: You know, it's not restricted like a marijuana type of thing.
- 41:31Speaker 1: So you can ship worldwide and you know it's healthy.
- 41:33Speaker 1: It's like, you know that's fair. Are you a healthy guy?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Of course? Tell you I dropped twenty pounds. But since
- 41:40Speaker 1: the last time I came in, how did you? What
- 41:42Speaker 1: did you do to lose the weight? I do Keto
- 41:44Speaker 1: and Bro, I got on Keto and lost weight and
- 41:47Speaker 1: then I got off it and now I'm fat again.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Well I'll be off and on and I don't I
- 41:52Speaker 1: don't know it works, it works, yo, Like you go
- 41:55Speaker 1: months strictly on Keto. Bro. What I did was I stopped.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I did the I start doing the kiddo, but I
- 42:02Speaker 1: cancel my gym umber shit, and I ordered the not
- 42:04Speaker 1: to track treadmill, put it in my credit ball, and
- 42:08Speaker 1: I just walk up yeah. Yeah, And I just walk
- 42:11Speaker 1: walk up hill for ten to fifteen minutes before every
- 42:13Speaker 1: meal and then workout at night. You know what I'm saying.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Do you do do everything with the studio in the crib?
- 42:18Speaker 1: I canceled, Yeah, I did that. I did that right
- 42:21Speaker 1: before COVID, Right before COVID hit. People are saying that, uh,
- 42:26Speaker 1: there's like a big exodus out of New York right now,
- 42:29Speaker 1: like people are moving and ship. Have you noticed like
- 42:31Speaker 1: people leaving. Nah. I heard like Manhattan's got like forty
- 42:35Speaker 1: thousand open apartments right now, just a live bro really
- 42:38Speaker 1: not gonna live Hell no, bro, Well ship for everyone's
- 42:41Speaker 1: rent price purposes, you can of you know that'd be nice,
- 42:43Speaker 1: right yeah, hell yeah, i'd be. I'd be like thinking like, yo, no,
- 42:47Speaker 1: everybody's not paying five thousand a month, especially for these apartments.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Like you enter these apartments because these apartment has been
- 42:54Speaker 1: there for years. Even the hotels are fucked up, You'll
- 42:57Speaker 1: be like, I just spent six hundred hours in the hotel.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Is the size of my closet? Yeah? No, it's nothing
- 43:01Speaker 1: like in New York are so small there's nowhere to
- 43:06Speaker 1: put your ship. Like wait what there's nothing like l
- 43:09Speaker 1: a hotel's you like, you'll get it on Expeedia and
- 43:12Speaker 1: then you'll get in and you'll be like, wait, element
- 43:15Speaker 1: you see that you got you have some old pictures up? Yeah? No,
- 43:18Speaker 1: that shit crazy? Nah? Yeah, because I know with with
- 43:21Speaker 1: with the COVID ship, like I heard that just a
- 43:23Speaker 1: lot of people are a lot of people are leaving
- 43:26Speaker 1: California because it's so expensive. L A be clubs LA.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie, no, I mean, it's great. I
- 43:33Speaker 1: could never live in New York. I love visiting New York,
- 43:36Speaker 1: but I'm a West Coast guy and just the why
- 43:38Speaker 1: you feel that, I just don't like like everybody's just so,
- 43:41Speaker 1: everybody's obnoxious everything. It's just you go outside and it's stress.
- 43:48Speaker 1: My fucker is walking down the streets. Yeah, they got
- 43:51Speaker 1: their fucking game face on. It's like out here, I
- 43:54Speaker 1: could go outside and not see nobody. No I hear that.
- 43:57Speaker 1: You'll you'll walk past and they'll say what's up. Yeah.
- 44:00Speaker 1: But even like, it's impossible to avoid strangers in New
- 44:04Speaker 1: York if you're gonna have a life, to go to work,
- 44:08Speaker 1: to go whatever you have to out here, I can
- 44:11Speaker 1: drive from point A to point B and have zero
- 44:13Speaker 1: interactions with people. I don't know. That's how Jersey is.
- 44:16Speaker 1: New York is so like you gotta get on the
- 44:19Speaker 1: train or even you gotta walk to get to Like
- 44:21Speaker 1: it's just a lot, bro And in the parking situation,
- 44:25Speaker 1: you gotta pay for a parking space every month. All
- 44:27Speaker 1: kinds of crazy. Yeah, the only thing out here is
- 44:31Speaker 1: that tras. But when I moved here, the radio stations
- 44:37Speaker 1: in Burbank and Burbank's pretty expensive. But I purposely was like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna eat ship and pay more money so I
- 44:45Speaker 1: never have to get on the freeway. So I got
- 44:48Speaker 1: my studios right here in Burbank North Hollywood area, the
- 44:51Speaker 1: radio stations in burt Oh, this is Burbank. This is
- 44:53Speaker 1: the Burbank North Hollywood like border. So if you go
- 44:56Speaker 1: like half a mile that way, you're in Burbank radio station,
- 44:58Speaker 1: like five minutes from here. So I was like, you
- 45:00Speaker 1: know what, like, I'm gonna just pay more for my rents.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I don't have to deal with what you said, because
- 45:04Speaker 1: that's where everybody, like the traffic get you fucking stressed
- 45:07Speaker 1: out thinking about that ship out here. Yeah, Bro, the
- 45:10Speaker 1: GPS says seven minutes. It took me seventeen minutes. Bro,
- 45:13Speaker 1: it was traffic for no reason. Then I had to
- 45:15Speaker 1: tell when it cleared up, I told the drive, I'll say, oh, bro, drive,
- 45:20Speaker 1: what are you doing? You know, it's definitely I would
- 45:24Speaker 1: probably rather still deal with the traffic than have to
- 45:26Speaker 1: like deal with the people, deal with the trains. Oh,
- 45:29Speaker 1: to deal with the trains. Yeah, there's no trains. I
- 45:33Speaker 1: mean there is, bit I don't think people really don't
- 45:34Speaker 1: take them like that. Oh, it's not like that. It's
- 45:37Speaker 1: like a Jersey train. Jersey's not here in New Jerseys. Y.
- 45:39Speaker 1: One time I fell asleep in New York. I was
- 45:44Speaker 1: on the train and I fell asleep. I woke up
- 45:48Speaker 1: and you woke up. I woke up in Spanish Harlem.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Oh that wasn't that fall, but no. I took it
- 45:54Speaker 1: from like downtown and I woke up in Spanish Harlem.
- 45:57Speaker 1: It was like three in the morning, Bro, I get, oh,
- 46:00Speaker 1: come up, and I'm like, but you still good? And
- 46:02Speaker 1: three in the morning and Spanish hall them. You lucky.
- 46:04Speaker 1: You ain't wake up in Hunt's Point And I was like, okay, damn,
- 46:08Speaker 1: this is so. This is Spanish harlot. So I'm like
- 46:10Speaker 1: trying to walk around and find my entrance into the
- 46:12Speaker 1: subway to get to the other way, and I'm like
- 46:15Speaker 1: at the time, I'm like real tight with bodega bam.
- 46:17Speaker 1: So I remember hitting them and I'd be like, hey, bro,
- 46:19Speaker 1: I'm right here in my camera here because I just
- 46:23Speaker 1: woke up and got off the train. No, Spanish Halem
- 46:26Speaker 1: is dope and it's cool. I mean, it's laid back, yo.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Harlem is a vibe. Bro. I just think it's like
- 46:32Speaker 1: like I felt like if I remember every like you know,
- 46:34Speaker 1: there's a few times I talked about moving to New
- 46:35Speaker 1: York and I was like, Yo, if I'm gonna move
- 46:36Speaker 1: to New York, I'm not either living in Jersey or Harlem,
- 46:39Speaker 1: because Harlem is like still technically it's it's still technically
- 46:44Speaker 1: it's like the first burrow outside of like like if
- 46:47Speaker 1: you're going towards like you're leaving Manhattan. It's part of man.
- 46:50Speaker 1: It's part of man Man. But yeah, we got Manhattan, Harlem,
- 46:55Speaker 1: Washington Heights that's old Manhattan and Washington Heights is oh
- 46:58Speaker 1: my bad ellie. Yes, Manhattan, Halem, Washington Heights like big,
- 47:04Speaker 1: big Spanish area, right yeah, Dominican shout my dominicanos up there.
- 47:08Speaker 1: And then from there it's the Bronx. Then it's the Bronx.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Maybe a few blocks away. You could just cross a
- 47:13Speaker 1: little bridge. You in the Bronx, shout out to the Bronx. Man. Yeah,
- 47:19Speaker 1: what do you think? Why do you think for people
- 47:21Speaker 1: who don't who are from New York, Man, every single
- 47:24Speaker 1: borough has its own flavor. It's it's very different. Like
- 47:27Speaker 1: you could go to Brooklyn and it's like you feel
- 47:29Speaker 1: like you're in a whole nother place. Even parts of Brooklyn.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Now you're like fucking hipster motherfuckers everywhere, and then you
- 47:37Speaker 1: you know, five minutes away, it's a dangerous place. Yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Is that most of New York is like most of
- 47:44Speaker 1: New York becoming gentrified? Or is it still like No,
- 47:46Speaker 1: it's just some because Brooklyn is fucking crazy, yeah, Central,
- 47:52Speaker 1: I mean the hipster Willisburg. Okay, I don't really know
- 48:01Speaker 1: Brooklyn like that. I ain't gonna hold you. Yeah, I
- 48:03Speaker 1: try to stay away from Brooklyn. Brooklyn, serious Brooklyn, serious
- 48:09Speaker 1: white girls with fucking armpit hair and ship you know
- 48:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Yeah, New York is. Yeah, I remember
- 48:16Speaker 1: it was like versus like people that were originally there. Okay,
- 48:22Speaker 1: I knew. I knew Brooklyn was different. When my guys
- 48:28Speaker 1: the Wave Gag they didy go by the wool, now
- 48:31Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But they had me in
- 48:33Speaker 1: Brownsville projects. Okay, I just remember Brownsville by the way,
- 48:37Speaker 1: shout out to mop just reading about Brownsville as a
- 48:39Speaker 1: kid in the Double E solth Yeah, they had me
- 48:41Speaker 1: in Brownsville projects. And when I got there, like when
- 48:44Speaker 1: I went to the when I really seen the projects firsthand.
- 48:47Speaker 1: That's when I seen like, this is totally different from Harlem.
- 48:51Speaker 1: This is nowhere in Hallam. A't got nothing on this.
- 48:54Speaker 1: This is different. This is like walking past the police
- 48:57Speaker 1: with a bottle of rose and they don't say ship
- 49:00Speaker 1: like this is different, Like they all they care about
- 49:03Speaker 1: his shootouts and they might not even they might not
- 49:05Speaker 1: even walk up. They're gonna call for backup. It's just
- 49:08Speaker 1: dark over there. It's different. Yeah, It's like it's different, bro. Yeah,
- 49:13Speaker 1: I just I just vividly remember reading Billy Dan's in
- 49:16Speaker 1: a Little Fame talking about how they used to shoot
- 49:18Speaker 1: people off like they used to They used to just
- 49:22Speaker 1: shoot people off the top of their built like like
- 49:25Speaker 1: they were snipers or met them too. Crazyest neighborhood all
- 49:32Speaker 1: in New York and all in New York that you've
- 49:33Speaker 1: been to, many that I've been to. Damn, they gonna
- 49:39Speaker 1: be mad at me. I can't just say one yeah
- 49:41Speaker 1: nah they you know, No, Brownsville is like the crit
- 49:44Speaker 1: to me in New York. Nah, in New York because
- 49:47Speaker 1: see if I say no, now it's like words. So
- 49:50Speaker 1: we ain't gangster like that. Nah. But I think Brownsville
- 49:54Speaker 1: honestly Brownsville is different. It was. It would be some
- 49:57Speaker 1: people from East New York that'll tell you Brownsville for real. Brownsville. Yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 1: man shout out to MP. Yes, sir, First Family Z owned.
