- 0:01Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Christian we've
- 0:04podcast, but really, it's not just another episode.
- 0:08This is a special episode. It's the 35th episode of the
- 0:12Christian we've podcast. And it's also finally the
- 0:17opportunity that I've had been trying to get for ages to get my
- 0:20friend childish Jaco on the podcast.
- 0:23Now you may not know this actually but before before I
- 0:27introduce you I've been trying to get you on here for a long
- 0:29time. I'm you've been very busy.
- 0:31There's various reasons for that which we'll get into.
- 0:33But before I did this podcast, obviously some people who listen
- 0:39to the podcast or just follow my YouTube may know that we did or
- 0:44I was part of a podcast called the tcj podcast beforehand,
- 0:47which I did with childish, Jaco and my other friend Aaron Wise
- 0:51otherwise known as trial by fire.
- 0:54Now we did that for a couple of episodes.
- 0:55It went down well we had good chemistry and stuff but we were
- 0:58friends actually before But we've all been so online
- 1:02friends. So we've all basically got this
- 1:04history together. Me and Charles Jaco have collab
- 1:07quite a lot before we even did not costing.
- 1:09So there's a lot of stuff there, but this is actually the first
- 1:12time that I've ever kind of properly disposed interviewed
- 1:16like one of my friends. So this is going to be kind of
- 1:18interesting now, any, because it's kind of like formal but not
- 1:22fun working on Ami. Yeah.
- 1:23Yeah, yeah. But listen to this, you.
- 1:24So, basically your YouTube but more importantly, you're like a
- 1:29sneaker in Enthusiasts or a sneakerhead.
- 1:32There's different ways you can call this, but it's a big part
- 1:35of who you are. And yeah, basically, before
- 1:37anything else, welcome to the show.
- 1:39How you doing? Thank you for having me.
- 1:41It's great. Yeah, it nice, it's weird.
- 1:44Like, if people don't know like the background behind this is
- 1:46this, it's really strange to be talking to you again.
- 1:50And one thing I've just realized as well, I have all that time.
- 1:53I've never spoken to you. I've never seen you while I've
- 1:56been talking to you. I've never video called you as
- 1:58well, which is really strange. Because I've You feel like Matt,
- 2:01like literally probably a year now shortly?
- 2:04Yeah, that's okay. Let's, let's talk about a little
- 2:06bit about that. How we met for first before we
- 2:08get into anything? Because I think it's kind of
- 2:09cool and and also very current of like what's happening in the
- 2:15world right now because me and you met on Reddit.
- 2:18And this was when I was first kind of because I really Jack
- 2:22started my YouTube last year sometime.
- 2:27I can't remember exactly when but it doesn't matter.
- 2:29Basically Come back come. All right you're making
- 2:31something of a comeback. Well I never really did YouTube
- 2:35properly like how we do it now. Like I never really gave it full
- 2:39effort because to be honest I just never had any good.
- 2:41I did his part from like music now and again but anyway, but
- 2:47last year was like I'm going to do this.
- 2:49I'm going to do a serious and every I think every YouTuber
- 2:52that ever starts when they first start, they do that really
- 2:55annoying thing where they do like sub4sub in and, you know,
- 2:59just And to get everyone that can possibly find like when you
- 3:02think about it. Logically, it's a logical.
- 3:05So, let me and you met in subreddits and me and you were
- 3:07doing the exact same thing of like posting an oddly
- 3:10subreddits. Well your yeah strategy was a
- 3:13little bit different because you you have always kind of labeled
- 3:16yourself as like a niche YouTuber, your Target in that
- 3:19your Target Target in that sneaker world.
- 3:22And you've always stuck to that from the very beginning that I
- 3:24met you, you know, you've always been like, that's your focus,
- 3:28but you did do the same. Because I was doing initially a
- 3:31little bit but you kind of yeah sort of took me under your wing
- 3:34and you're like hey so I'm kind of doing this thing where I'm
- 3:37trying to build a community of people and I was like huh?
- 3:40Okay well that sounds way more logical.
- 3:44And you basically said yet don't don't do stuff ourselves because
- 3:46it doesn't work. Yeah, I think I think the the
- 3:49sort of background to that I think I realized quite early on
- 3:53that the sort of like not not talking not interacting just you
- 3:57know like this I like this stuff.
- 4:00This all subjects and stuff. We, I think we both sort of
- 4:03realized quite early on that that wouldn't really work and I
- 4:07just wanted to try something and I mean, our, I still believe it
- 4:12has worked and it will continue to work just actually making
- 4:16real friends. Like even though we've tried,
- 4:19we've tried certain things like the reactions and the and the
- 4:23tcga and everything we've tried, we've tried things and, you
- 4:26know, I think they worked out quite well but obviously they
- 4:29say, Stop for various reasons, but I just still think that if
- 4:33me you and Erin trial by fire hadn't, you know have formed
- 4:37that group you wouldn't know certain people, maybe I wouldn't
- 4:40know your friend Dutch. None deals.
- 4:43Dylan is his name, Dylan Dylan. Yeah, but I yeah, I know, it's
- 4:48this way. Yeah, deals I wouldn't, I
- 4:50wouldn't, I wouldn't know him. He wouldn't know me.
- 4:52There's certain other people that, and I think we will,
- 4:56especially over that time. Maybe not so much recently
- 4:59because obviously are It's gone off and done his own thing.
- 5:01And there's been sort of limited communication between me and
- 5:04you. I think we'll this, let's dive
- 5:06into that. Let's, let's go into it.
- 5:08I mean, because I was going to ask you some stuff beforehand,
- 5:11but, like, since we're talking about it, now obviously we know
- 5:15that Aaron was always basically Aaron in his trade is a VFX
- 5:20artist which I know very little about and I always wanted to ask
- 5:23him about I still want to ask him about it eventually.
- 5:25I'll be an interesting conversation.
- 5:27Definitely. Yeah, one day, I want to have
- 5:28him on the podcast. A stand, like just racked his
- 5:31brains for everything that mean you've wanted to know for ages,
- 5:34plus obviously what he's doing now because he very recently
- 5:38joined videos games, and he's doing games development, and
- 5:41that's what he ultimately wanted to do, and he was very like, you
- 5:45know, like straight forward with it.
- 5:46Like, he just said, yeah, I'm just not really feeling the
- 5:49podcast anymore and I'm not fair enough.
- 5:50Yeah. If you're not feeling that
- 5:52you're not feeling it, right? But I was kind of surprised to
- 5:55be honest. I was kind of surprised when
- 5:57when you weren't interested in doing the podcast, any Because I
- 6:00was kind of thinking like me and you could continue it or do
- 6:03something with it and at the time I was a bit bummed.
- 6:07But I was like well what can you do?
- 6:08You know what I mean? Like I think I think the thing
- 6:10for me I was more guide about was this that me and you went
- 6:12like talking for a long time and I want ya know I must admit it's
- 6:17not as much to do with that as it is to do with like at around
- 6:22that time. I sort of I went for a funny
- 6:25funny face and I think even even though I I did enjoy doing that
- 6:31with you guys and stuff. I just feel like a few things
- 6:34mixed up. Say, you know, doing that hours
- 6:38upon hours of editing of those, you know, maybe the fact that
- 6:42all of our conversation was simply over like actual text
- 6:45message rather than we did, we didn't even call other than when
- 6:48we strew, like recorded, we didn't even call.
- 6:51So I just feel like, I don't know about you guys.
- 6:54I don't know if this played into it with iron as well, but I was
- 6:57feeling stressed out about it even though it wasn't.
- 7:00It wasn't that big of a big of a deal with the time, you know.
- 7:03Like I'm not no one, no one really.
- 7:06Obviously there were a few people but no nobody really are
- 7:10like would have minded if we missed a week or something very
- 7:12realistically, no one would have, but it was just that at
- 7:16the time, I was going through some personal stuff that was
- 7:18getting them down that was getting on my nerves a bit.
- 7:20And then I'm sure you can even tell just just from my personal
- 7:24stuff I think from from an overload just in that little bit
- 7:29of time I'm it's sort of knocked me off course, for all the stuff
- 7:32I was doing or just alone as well.
- 7:35I sort of had a bit of a burn out which I I just thought it's
- 7:40not a healthy thing to do and I just needed to sit back and sort
- 7:43of working myself and stuff. I've The amount of changes I've
- 7:50been through since that time though, like just in my personal
- 7:54life and stuff we can go into it a little bit.
- 7:56But I'm not going to really like, listen, I'm not gonna give
- 8:00it up for once but it's your personal life.
- 8:03Like I'm not going to probe anyway because I don't think
- 8:05it's really relevant. And like why the reason I bring
- 8:09it up right? Is that I there was always a bit
- 8:11of confusion on my pot, but being I'm at your friend as
- 8:14well, I was always more concerned with like your
- 8:17well-being because at first First, I was like, yeah, you
- 8:19know, you different things, go for your mind.
- 8:21Like, there's obviously the first thing of like, did I do
- 8:22something wrong? Is it?
- 8:24Is it personal thing? And then after some time, I
- 8:27realize, huh, okay? Because I remember one of your
- 8:30reasons was that you said you wanted to focus on yourself and
- 8:33like your channel which I took as like, our he just wants to
- 8:36get back into doing it. Being childish, Jacquard doing
- 8:39what you do right? Which I totally understand.
- 8:42As you said, you were doing crazy editing for the podcast,
- 8:45which meant that your channel, kind of took a backseat And that
- 8:49was unfair on you. And the only reason I was able
- 8:52to keep doing what I was doing, cluster podcast is just that I
- 8:55just have a ridiculous amount of time and I'm a bit insane.
- 8:59And with Aaron, it's a bit more like, you know, he has a family
- 9:02as that different things so it's even tougher for him to get
- 9:05videos out as well. But point being there was a lot
- 9:08of pressure, put on you which I get and then, yeah, I know.
- 9:11And that's, that's, that's the reason why I say like it was
- 9:15mostly to do with personal stuff and my own It was nothing to do
- 9:19with you or anything hands done. I think it was just, it was
- 9:22just, I don't know. I lost interest in it for a
- 9:27split second and then I just couldn't get back.
- 9:29I've only just recently really felt like childish Jack Logan if
- 9:35that makes sense. This is the interest which I'm
- 9:37sure I'm sure people actually see if you go through right now.
- 9:40Like it's been very slow from me like recently just because I
- 9:45think still building off of what happened happened.
- 9:49To me and happened to Charles Jaco.
- 9:51Both sides of me, there were things that happened in and now
- 9:55I'm back you know I'm saying? I feel like this is a this is a
- 9:58new start and everything and I'm glad I'm talking to you again
- 10:01but it was nothing to view. Nothing to do their own.
- 10:03It's cool with that. You know, I love you, man.
- 10:06Come on, anyway. Yeah, no actually that's one
- 10:09thing I want to wrap the bow on that actually with is that I
- 10:13did. Notice that because you never
- 10:14stopped posting at I early, you did what you said.
- 10:17You took a break. Then this is like immediately
- 10:20after the podcast and then you drop like one or two.
- 10:23And to me, it kind of seemed like, oh, it's dipping his foot
- 10:25in the water but he's like, not too sure.
- 10:28And then, as you said may, I don't know, I can't pinpoint the
- 10:31exact time, but there was a point where it's like, I ezh
- 10:35back like boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 10:37Yeah. And yeah, I'd only, I would even
- 10:38say, only the past, like few weeks or so.
- 10:41Like, I've really been feeling really motivated to do that.
- 10:45I'm not, I've done things earlier than that, but it's just
- 10:47like, I've just been really stuck and fear.
- 10:51Hey, and I don't believe in like just doing stuff that you don't
- 10:55like, want to do or don't believe in.
- 10:57You know, I could have easily just out here and just been
- 10:59like, hello, this is the new Jordan that's coming out next
- 11:04week. I could have easily just done
- 11:06that and it and everyone would have been bored out of their
- 11:08minds. Yeah.
- 11:09But I just wanted to make sure I put 110% into it so I just give
- 11:14myself that time. That's interesting.
- 11:16Actually, that you mention that because that's, that's That we
- 11:19really do share like a, a similarity because I'm exactly
- 11:24the same. Like, I know I pump out a lot of
- 11:27content and stuff and a lot of that is just chance.
- 11:31Like it's always like for have an idea put it out, you know, I
- 11:35work hard, when something like okay, if a podcast comes you get
- 11:39a lot of content out of that, you get Clips, you get whatever.
- 11:41Right? But, you know, there are times
- 11:43when I don't have anything and but more importantly with what
- 11:46we're talking about, there's that feeling of God, just not
- 11:49feeling it. Like I just I feel like the
- 11:51Press tour because I have those days as well.
- 11:54Man, I've had some times some months where it's been like
- 11:58pretty bad and the last thing I want to do is make content for
- 12:01the internet and people. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:04So I totally get that. Like it's the same one I do
- 12:08streaming as well as I think that you want it, you want to
- 12:10come out kind of come out and give a as you said like 110% you
- 12:14want to be like this is me and you can't do that if you're
- 12:18feeling like the A store. If you've got your own, your own
- 12:20battles and stuff and I just didn't want to put something out
- 12:24that I wouldn't that I would regret like that.
- 12:26I wouldn't be proud of. So I just thought it'd be best
- 12:29for me to, you know, work on work on yourself.
- 12:33And then hopefully bring some of that positivity back out into
- 12:36the world, which is what I was meant to do.
- 12:38And I feel like, even even like putting TC chairside and stuff.
- 12:43Maybe some of the things that I was doing before that I wasn't
- 12:46really enjoying overly as Well, so like say, like I'm mad
- 12:52respect, anyone who does do this, but like, you may have
- 12:57noticed, our people may have noticed.
- 12:58I've sort of steered away from just like, again, this Jordan is
- 13:03coming out next week and make sure you catch it on this.
- 13:07And and if that that's great and I do do that, like I do do that
- 13:12occasionally, you know. No, listen, I don't do that.
- 13:15Kate occasionally, I sat I like zoom in.
- 13:18I On something that's like coming out soon or something
- 13:22like that, that I actually care about.
- 13:23But there are a lot of people that just like their whole thing
- 13:26is just, oh my God, this come out this week.
- 13:29This coming out this week and it's just now I'm really sorry
- 13:31so so you're not you're not talking about because I thought
- 13:34you meant your enthusiasm. You're talking specifically
- 13:38about doing the release videos where you're just.
- 13:42So you wanted to steer away from doing those release videos as
- 13:44what you mean, I wanted to be more creative.
- 13:48Always try to be more creative. And then I think I got stuck
- 13:51into a bit of a sort of cycle of just saying all this is, this is
- 13:56here, this is here and, you know, that they'll bang and
- 13:58every time. So I just thought I might as
- 14:00well just keep doing this, but I think that also contribute to as
- 14:03well, because I wasn't being honest with myself, about do, I
- 14:07actually care about this and stuff?
- 14:09Which I know it's hypocritical because all through that time, I
- 14:12was probably telling you don't talk about stuff, you don't care
- 14:16about. But yes, I think I've learnt
- 14:18from Actually if anything, like a lot of you've given me a lot
- 14:22of advice over the time I've been doing this properly for the
- 14:26last year year and a half and I've really taken it especially
- 14:29when it because the two main things I've gotten from you are,
- 14:32yeah. Deuce.
- 14:33What you love? I know, only what you love and
- 14:36I've done some experiments that I'll be honest.
- 14:38I've done reaction videos and when I did them for you for your
- 14:41channel, that was fun. But when I did it for my channel
- 14:45and I saw the whole process of having to edit it and Thing only
- 14:49for the it to then get like claims or, you know, you know,
- 14:54not if the video doesn't do well.
- 14:55Something I just also hosts the point but the only time I ever
- 14:58really liked enjoyed, it was either on your Channel or this
- 15:02one time I did like a reaction video to my old metal band from
- 15:05many, many years ago. And like that made sense.
- 15:08Because it's like, okay, this is something I'm passionate about.
- 15:11This is fun and it's like, it's such a simple concept but with
- 15:15YouTube, you know, it's like you said, you get caught.
- 15:18Number sometimes you think, oh, this band I should do something
- 15:21like that, but you don't want to get caught in that Circle
- 15:25because then you just end up doing stuff.
- 15:26You don't want well like, yeah, exactly.
- 15:29Yeah. Now I've definitely focus more
- 15:32on, you know, trying to be more creative with what I do.
- 15:36Like, I don't know. Even, even the past like two or
- 15:38three, or four releases, hopefully have been completely
- 15:42different to what I've ever done before, which it's just, you
- 15:45know, I get to this. It's very good, but none of them
- 15:48have None of them have been, you know, and much to do have each
- 15:53other, none of them. Some, none of them have really
- 15:55done amazingly, but if I'm sure you can tell, I've really
- 15:59enjoyed doing those. That's just where that's just
- 16:03want to keep doing that. Sit at the end of the day.
- 16:05So I think it's that reverse. I don't know if this is the
- 16:09right way to put it, but it's like if you're enjoying it more
- 16:13then the content will be better. Anyway.
- 16:15And then, yeah, it kind of will do better eventually.
- 16:18No, do brilliantly, straight away, but after something like,
- 16:23okay, if you take, I do, my podcast is an example, yeah.
- 16:26Like, obviously, when it first starts, you know, it's not
- 16:29getting many views even to this day, you know, I don't get like
- 16:32tons and tons of views or anything, but certain things
- 16:35here in there. There's there seems to be like a
- 16:36growing audience. There's more positive feedback,
- 16:39blah blah blah, right. And I do attribute a lot of that
- 16:43down to the fact that, you know, there's like a format there and
- 16:48it's like I really enjoy it. Like I got really excited
- 16:51obviously to do this podcast, right?
- 16:53Because it's like, not only is it, you know, special one, it's
- 16:57the 35th and based on opportunity to speak with a
- 16:59friend. So it's a slightly different
- 17:01Dynamic and for me, this podcast is really fun with the
- 17:05interviews because it's like, you know, I never know what to
- 17:09expect. I always come in with the same
- 17:10attitude. Like, I have my research on you.
- 17:12Here it's all written down, like I always do but it's like, It's
- 17:17always different. It's never the same, which I
- 17:19think is incredible. And I think that that's kind of
- 17:24part of the key of it as an IT, you want to always keep the
- 17:26content that you're putting out exciting and fun and different
- 17:29and because it's, it's not really.
- 17:32I know it. They say, you know, you should
- 17:34be making content for your audience and that is true, but
- 17:38it is for yourself. Like I've always, you wouldn't
- 17:40do it, you know, in like it should be for you.
- 17:42It should be what you enjoy and what your passion, you've gotta
- 17:46love. You've Love the process of doing
- 17:48it rather than the end result, that's why I've realized you've
- 17:51got, oh yeah, if you don't enjoy doing it even if no one's
- 17:55looking at then there's no point and you and you're not going to
- 17:59you're not going to enjoy anymore.
- 18:00When people do look at like it's not gonna it's just a cycle.
- 18:03Like the doubt. They won't like it as much less
- 18:05people will watch it and then you will enjoy it less.
- 18:08So you might as well just stick to what you like and it will
- 18:12just go from there. Early.
- 18:14Let's get into the questions, man.
- 18:16Let's start the internet's go for, I'm a little bit nervous.
- 18:19I'm gonna is fine. Relax.
- 18:21It's it's fun. What's the story behind your
- 18:25name? Because I obviously first thing
- 18:28I thought was Childish Gambino right but I feel like there is
- 18:32more of a story behind this. I sometimes I wonder like why
- 18:35you didn't go by your main name. You're very cautious.
- 18:39I've always noticed this about protecting your brand and like
- 18:43So, for example, I know you have like a full-time job away from
- 18:48from YouTube and stuff. And you know, I think I've heard
- 18:52you say before that, like one day you'd like this to be, you
- 18:55know, you're living kind of thing.
- 18:57But you're obviously very conscientious of like, you don't
- 19:00want to put anything out that's, you know, dodgy or would affect
- 19:04your employment. So that and I get that.
- 19:05Like, I think everyone is conscientious of that.
- 19:07If they're still, you know, they got that daytime living, they're
- 19:09trying to support themselves and, you know, so YouTube is the
- 19:12grind, like, you never No, it could take one, you could take
- 19:15five years, ten years. You have no idea.
- 19:18So, you gotta think about a first before be.
- 19:21But, yeah, I feel like with your name and your brand, there's
- 19:25something more behind this. Talk to us.
- 19:26A little bit about that. Okay, with well, first off with
- 19:29the sort of, you know, not not being controversial and stuff,
- 19:34it's not so much to do with avoiding trouble.
- 19:37It's more to do with not letting any doors close.
- 19:41If you get what I mean, I'm always In not that I want to say
- 19:47anything outrageous. Like not not that I have any
- 19:49views that are going to light upset people.
- 19:51But yeah, I just think it's important.
- 19:53I want to have every experience, I possibly can in life.
- 19:56I've got, I've got a great daytime job that I do.
- 20:00I really love doing this and everything.
- 20:01So I just want to make sure that I'm, you know, living to the
- 20:05best. I can be whatever path.
- 20:06I may go down, I have many different things.
- 20:09I've started this year that I could possibly do could possibly
- 20:12Branch out into I just want to make sure that I have the
- 20:15opportunity to do all of those things and just yeah, just I
- 20:21just don't want, I just don't want to waste, I don't want to
- 20:23regret something, or or? Yeah, that's pretty much it.
- 20:27What? But obviously I'm not I'm not
- 20:29here just like pretending to not be a Nazi or something like.
- 20:32Um, I'm sure like yeah, there is nothing to hide but it's just
- 20:38like, I like to keep my things in their separate sort of
- 20:42locations and welcome. Them separately.
- 20:45And and one thing I will say, as well from having a previous
- 20:49channel is when you ask say like family members friends people
- 20:54from your work school and sneeze when you say are subscribed to
- 20:58me, look at this and stuff. You begin to get like fake
- 21:02numbers. Like what?
- 21:04Like so Taylor told my parents everything they were watching
- 21:09stuff, right? Right.
- 21:12So they all Watching everything then they're watching because
- 21:17they're you're their son, right? Right.
- 21:21They're not watching because like they want to see like the
- 21:24Jordan brand or the Call of Duty video.
- 21:27They're watching Jack. Do you understand what I'm
- 21:29saying? Yeah, I do get it.
- 21:32Yeah, but like when your school friends, like you know Juniors,
- 21:36you know what I'm saying though? Like what went when you get real
- 21:40life people involved, it begins to generate more.
- 21:43More like, sympathy sort of use other mental, right word.
- 21:49Do you get what I'm saying though?
- 21:51You get on saying. So like you when you mean is
- 21:53that you could put out what you deem is like trash and like your
- 21:56parents be like oh it's great brilliant.
- 21:59Yeah. And you're like, you know, tell
- 22:00the truth and they're like, no no that's great son and you're
- 22:03like I'm not saying they're lying.
- 22:05I'm I'm not saying anyone's lying to anyone.
- 22:08All I'm saying is like I could send, I could send, I could send
- 22:12my stuff out too. Like 100 people that had that I
- 22:15know from my life or something. Okay.
- 22:17And that that would be simple, you know.
- 22:19I mean you could do that as well.
- 22:21We could be simple and but sending it to 100 individual
- 22:25people isn't really getting an accurate reading of your
- 22:29successes. It, it's funny that you say this
- 22:32as well, because I think it does vary on your network and stuff
- 22:36because for this is my Facebook, I have a Facebook page, right?
- 22:40And then I share from my paper Facebook page Onto my Facebook
- 22:44profile, right? My Facebook profile is private
- 22:47but it's only got friends and family and if I'm not calling
- 22:51anyone out, I'm not trying to start anything, but there's very
- 22:55little interest from family friend.
- 22:58I think very recently, maybe my mom started watching some of my
- 23:02podcasts because they are on Facebook, but I think mostly my
- 23:06family and friends, just ignore what I do or they maybe they
- 23:10don't see it even because Facebook is terrible.
- 23:13Showing stuff. But and I think, I think that is
- 23:16the best thing for you but I don't ya not, it's not saying
- 23:20like that shouldn't, but it's the best thing for you.
- 23:23Because, you know, that the people that are finding it are,
- 23:26you know, more legitimate people that that is my main point, is
- 23:30that sending it to people you already know from work and
- 23:34school and stuff is not a it's not really a legitimate.
- 23:37It's almost in the sort of sub4sub kind of category if you
- 23:42get what I mean, you are Well, I said next year in math.
- 23:45So can you like this video? Do not do you.
- 23:48Go on saying right? Yeah I just love the way you put
- 23:50it. Yeah, I get what you mean.
- 23:53Yeah, yeah. So she said, yeah.
- 23:56So I just think it a stranger doing.
- 24:00That is much worth much, much more than someone that, you
- 24:03know, in real life doing that. So, I just wanted to sort of, I
- 24:06wanted to sort of grow up, more organically than sort of given
- 24:10out to people and in real life anyway, Understand that I don't
- 24:14want to offend anyone. That's just why I think about
- 24:17it. But Owens.
- 24:18Yeah. That's that's that's really cool
- 24:20to know actually. I didn't know that that you
- 24:22thought that way about it and I see you made some really good
- 24:25points to be for. Okay.
- 24:27So the name right you want to? Yeah the name.
- 24:30We want to know the name of the story, okay?
- 24:32So actually links directly to like any any sort of creative
- 24:38output I've ever had. Pretty much in my life, Jaco has
- 24:42been something. I'm like not that people have
- 24:45called it to my face, but it's been sort of like my username
- 24:49sort of nickname that I've always had always given that to
- 24:52myself. And there has been periods of
- 24:54time when people have called me that and stuff.
- 24:59So my first ever channel was actually one called Jack
- 25:03asaurus. Okay.
- 25:04Yeah, but Jack, a source. Like the dinosaur Jack asaurus.
- 25:07I was actually, like, probably like eight at the time or
- 25:09something, right? Right.
- 25:11And that shows a young I meant as well.
- 25:13That I was eight and you and everything was a everything was
- 25:16out. But, um, I, I started with doing
- 25:21some like, Lego animations, like, stop motion and stuff
- 25:25because I've always been, I've always been into like,
- 25:28Filmmaking animation and everything.
- 25:30I told Aaron when it, when he said, he was a CGI artist or
- 25:34whatever I said, lot harder us that that's amazing.
- 25:36I've always wanted to do something like that.
- 25:38So I've always been into that animation and stuff, so that was
- 25:41sort of my first ever creative thing.
- 25:45I learned some skills through that even at that young of an
- 25:48age and obviously developed through there, and then
- 25:51obviously, as I got older, I'd sort of dropped the Souris of
- 25:55off. Jack off, thoris pretty much.
- 25:58And then, my Xbox gamer tag was Jaco.
- 26:04And then, and that was just on there like that.
- 26:07This was when like, no, I'm pretty much called me called me
- 26:10by that name. And then there was one game on,
- 26:12I believe it was Black Ops 2. Okay.
- 26:16And there was this, I can't remember if he was like, French
- 26:18or something, but me and my friend had, you know, when you
- 26:21used to trap people, with the riot shields in the, in the
- 26:24corner. Yeah.
- 26:26Do you play up to Call of Duty? You know, the right?
- 26:28It's on multiplayer? Yeah.
- 26:31I used to do. We used to trap one of our
- 26:34teammates like like, get like, you know, like round round em
- 26:37up. Like a sheepdog and trap him in
- 26:40the corner like the whole game. Let's you just hold him up
- 26:43against the wall with the with the right shield and he was
- 26:46going. He was in the might in the in
- 26:48the Xbox one. Headset party chat going jackal
- 26:52jackal. It's just a creamy or screaming
- 26:57at me the whole time. And then for odd say like maybe
- 27:00a year of school, that, that story kind of got around.
- 27:04And whenever I go into a class or something, everyone would go
- 27:08Jack or Jackal side by side. That's where it kind of stuck.
- 27:14I'd say before that, it was just something that gave myself and
- 27:17then, I don't know. It got spread out into the
- 27:20wider, sort of wider, sort of notice when people started
- 27:25calling me that and then yeah. And then Yeah, so then Childish
- 27:29Gambino, then that's childish. Jeff I basically and then Jaco
- 27:33is just the name that I've always had pretty much since
- 27:36like 7:00 or 8:00. So yeah, and I was not expecting
- 27:41that fair play. I'm glad I asked, it's quite a
- 27:43lot. There's a lot of noise and it's
- 27:45a lot of backstory. Those cool, it's cool.
- 27:47I mean his me like this is why you should never assume things
- 27:51in life because I just assumed it was from the singer and you
- 27:53just, you know, and it's a cool name as well to be honest.
- 27:56Hmm. And also just on a side note,
- 27:59like, it is, you Jana mean like I can't imagine like if I know
- 28:04if I'm when I when I mother say, if, when I meet you in real
- 28:07life, I can't imagine calling you Jack that would just feel
- 28:11weird. It's probably your put my
- 28:13definitely Jacko. Like it fits really well.
- 28:16I'd say it's incredibly well, it's nice one.
- 28:20Nice one. Yeah.
- 28:22So I pretty much owe everything to this french guy in Black Ops
- 28:252. Mercy.
- 28:28You're getting drunk. Yeah, it was, it Miss know.
- 28:31Is that right? Miss?
- 28:31See that's how they say, firstly?
- 28:33I think it is. Yeah, let's see.
- 28:34Thinks is what's that? What's mass is?
- 28:37He? Thanks and I thank you.
- 28:39Yeah, thank you sir. Yeah, seems like bad at
- 28:41languages. I didn't pay any attention in
- 28:43school. Yeah.
- 28:46I was pretty lazy. When it came to languages at
- 28:48school. What when did you get into
- 28:52sneakers? I'm really interested about this
- 28:55because I think that like, Boys growing up, particular,
- 28:59particularly in the UK, you know, I know I was always into
- 29:01sneakers and stuff, but I was always more into kind of like,
- 29:06you know, because I grew up playing football and stuff.
- 29:08So it was like this would be way before your time, but there was
- 29:10some these things called total 90s, which will like football
- 29:14shoes you use. Like if you're playing for you,
- 29:18I don't know what they're called, you know?
- 29:19Like, when not studs but the other ones with like AstroTurf.
- 29:23Yeah. Yeah, that on that hard.
- 29:25Aground, not mad. Nicely.
- 29:27Yeah, so I grew up using those and then gradually.
- 29:30When I became a teenager, I started funnily enough wearing
- 29:33the sort of trainers that you were like Bobby not as nice but
- 29:36like but sort of basket style white like there was a time I
- 29:41think I told you about the seen kids thing, right?
- 29:44Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:45We've had that we we are looking for sanctioning seeing kids.
- 29:48Yeah. So a big thing about that was
- 29:49that like we'd have all this like you know, it was a weird
- 29:53Malcolm ation of chemo and Mainstream and everything,
- 29:58whatever. But we would always wear, like,
- 30:00flat caps and those kind of basketball style shoes.
- 30:04And there was just so many different types types and they
- 30:08were really colorful and stuff. And I've never told you this
- 30:10actually, but I actually met I had a couple of friends up in
- 30:13London who sneaker enthusiasts and they can, they had like tons
- 30:18and one of them in particular, his name was Isaac and he had
- 30:21like boxes upon boxes upon boxes of these.
- 30:25And I was just I was Like Amazed by this as I would you MIT?
- 30:29What you mean you have like, do you wear them?
- 30:30And he's like, you know, some of them and I'm like, so what they
- 30:33just sit there and he's like, well, you know, I'm just really
- 30:35enthusiastic about it and I never got it until I started
- 30:40collecting stuff of my own. Like, so, like my weird thing, I
- 30:45have it with. Like I click foreign coins.
- 30:48Okay. I don't know why, but for some
- 30:51reason I really like it and I guess.
- 30:55I got like two questions here with you.
- 30:57Like I want to know like when you got into Sneakers but I also
- 30:59kind of want to know about like how addicted to this.
- 31:03Are you do you know what I mean? Like is it like this is just
- 31:07interest it's fashion whatever or is it like more?
- 31:10Kind of like what I'm referring to of this that addictive thing?
- 31:14Okay, you're mean. All right, so I'll go with
- 31:17first. I'll start with where it sort of
- 31:20came from obviously, Full of, obviously, you've given examples
- 31:26of seeing kids and stuff. There are groups of people who
- 31:29do sort of pay attention to sneakers and such like that it
- 31:34in the UK. But obviously being from the UK
- 31:37as well. I would say, and I've mentioned
- 31:40this before, I'd say like the NBA and stuff, hasn't really had
- 31:45that much of an effect as it has in the u.s. geography of that
- 31:50you'd say, like I'm like George Michael Jordan and and stuff.
- 31:53I even though it obviously a household name, huge huge star,
- 31:57and everything, and people, obviously know what Jordans are.
- 32:01Just just being at school and stuff like that.
- 32:03People don't really care as much in the UK.
- 32:07I would say, personally, just, just, just from experience,
- 32:10maybe it's where I live and stuff, but I'll just say, it's
- 32:13bigger in the USA, isn't it? Let's be honest.
- 32:16I think that's fair to say. Yeah.
- 32:17I mean, like, obviously I play a lot of basketball and I have
- 32:20noticed, like, obviously play basketball every Everyone is
- 32:24obsessed with MBA, of course, and like, you know, sneakers and
- 32:27stuff. But yeah, like if we're talking
- 32:28mainstream, yeah, like not, not so much.
- 32:33Like the average person isn't really keeping up like USA.
- 32:38That's the whole culture is basketball and football.
- 32:41And baseball. Wasn't it like that everyone
- 32:44there? I don't know if I'm generalizing
- 32:46here, maybe I've just been watching too many films, but it
- 32:48does seem like it's much more integrated into their lifestyle.
- 32:52Whereas, I'd say over here, It's more of a football like soccer
- 32:56off at glad ya influential over here.
- 32:59So I think obviously just developing on from that we've
- 33:05just got slightly different culture to them and I would say,
- 33:09aye most of the people that have come into contact with in that
- 33:12world have can sort of side of. They were simply brought up like
- 33:18and sneakers like it was from day one there, dad bought it for
- 33:21them and you know they collection started when they had
- 33:24tiny little feet and they have all the little shoes and stuff
- 33:27that's not the same for me like okay it's not it's been I'd say
- 33:35three or four years. Maybe I've actually started to
- 33:39take interest in it and stuff it.
- 33:41I would say it started when I first got my job at Nike which
- 33:45I've explained to you that I used to work for my key, right?
- 33:48So make sense, right? I knew a little bit about this
- 33:51but I don't think I've ever really are.
- 33:53Do you fully about this? Because I remember one time when
- 33:56we did the podcast we did a. It was like you were comparing
- 34:01Nike and Adidas, possibly something like that.
- 34:05And there is this kind of thing where I was like, wait, what was
- 34:11the problem with Nike and you couldn't?
- 34:12You wouldn't quite say it, you sort of said, it already has a
- 34:14story for another time and I'm like, there's a story there.
- 34:20Okay, that's it. Okay, so pretty much from, I
- 34:28don't know, I wasn't really the most confident person especially
- 34:31back then. So going into the interview it
- 34:34was like a group interview. So it was probably I knew it'd
- 34:39probably be some kind of task. I'll make up this and present it
- 34:43and who's good at working in the group and speaking to other
- 34:46people taking the charge and stuff rather than actual?
- 34:52What's the word for it hard? It was, you know, they didn't
- 34:55really care about your maps and stuff.
- 34:56They just wanted to see if you could work well in the team.
- 34:59So me knowing that I knew okay, I could go in there and I could
- 35:04say, I'll Nestle think about this idea and, you know, I could
- 35:08take the easy way and just hope and keep fingers crossed that
- 35:12the person who was watching me felt extra kind drawn during
- 35:15that day and and wanted to give me the job.
- 35:18But I decided instead to just a research, like some up and
- 35:23coming. In sort of shoes and
- 35:24Technologies and everything that were coming out around the time
- 35:28in coming in the future or just her just recently dropped.
- 35:32And luckily, for me, the task was to design a Nike sneaker
- 35:38like just to draw it label, some of the details on in stuff.
- 35:43So we obviously split out into little groups.
- 35:45I was probably about 20 of us that this interview and then
- 35:47there are about would probably spit into like five different
- 35:51little groups to work on this project.
- 35:53And luckily, the person who was watching our group was the head
- 35:59of the back of house, like the warehouse that was attached to
- 36:02the store. So as everyone was sort of
- 36:06working on it, I was just trying to drop in little bits of
- 36:08knowledge that I picked up at home just to sort of.
- 36:12And I made sure I was I made sure I was right next to this
- 36:15guy so he could hear me. And I, and even spoke to him and
- 36:18I was like, oh, have you heard about the new?
- 36:21I was looking at the self-lacing.
- 36:24The selfless in Back to the Future style shoes that they I
- 36:27think came out during that time although working on them or
- 36:30something. Yeah, I was like, yeah, have you
- 36:33heard about the back, the self-lacing Back to the Future
- 36:37shoes and and he obviously was impressed by that.
- 36:40So I'd say that that little bit of research while I wasn't
- 36:45completely, you know, invested in sneakers and stuff.
- 36:48That was definitely the spark sort of preparing for That
- 36:52interview and stuff and then obviously, And the job I was in,
- 36:54I was in the warehouse. So there were times when I would
- 36:58have to show up at like 6:00 in the morning to get the delivery,
- 37:02get a delivery through the back door.
- 37:04And from there, Mike Symon grow because I would say, are we?
- 37:08I look on the notepad the you know, the clipboard and it would
- 37:12say, Jordan Air Jordan delivery. I've had yes I can't wait to see
- 37:17what the Jordan shoes are. I'd rip.
- 37:19I'll get the box cutter. Rip it open.
- 37:21Look, you know, look at and I'd have my friends.
- 37:23Back there with me and we'd all like, look at them and stuff and
- 37:27then obviously spending like a nine-hour shift, you know, you
- 37:32get bored sometimes. So obviously I had spent most of
- 37:35my time just staring at these things.
- 37:37Look a little details and stuff. So yeah, maybe I was infected by
- 37:42evil. The research, or the just being
- 37:46trapped in a warehouse full of shoes for like, nine hours of
- 37:49the day. And I was about 16 at the time.
- 37:52So obviously, my My you know, my attention wasn't wasn't the
- 37:56best. So I did spend most my time just
- 37:58looking up what why I wanted to get myself and putting these to
- 38:02the side? Make sure they have a size 12
- 38:04for me. Yeah.
- 38:06But I'd say that's probably where it came from.
- 38:08Most of all cool. Cool.
- 38:11I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing were you able
- 38:15to get like you know like you decent discounts where you're
- 38:17working there? Like sort of yeah.
- 38:20Yeah, I got. It was 30% in.
- 38:23In in store and then because things are tiny bit more
- 38:27expensive online. It was 44 percent online.
- 38:31So it's just very, was the difference - yeah, yeah.
- 38:35Very nice, 6 discount. Yeah.
- 38:38Okay. And so like as it stands right
- 38:41now, so you've kind of laid that out.
- 38:42That's about sort of fought for years worth of time.
- 38:45So between then tonight we'll how old are you now actually.
- 38:49I'm not doing no, that's it. Why still so young?
- 38:51So Sony free is free while nearly 20.
- 38:53So the site for years. Yeah, for years.
- 38:55Okay. So like how big is your
- 38:57collection now? Like how many pairs of trainers
- 39:00do you have? It's surprisingly not huge.
- 39:05Just because I've sort of limited myself and obviously not
- 39:10just being surrounded by like loads of friends who, you know,
- 39:14we're not all gasping each other up to happen.
- 39:16Yeah, get get the best ones. So it's definitely just been
- 39:20something, where I've sort of tried on the sneakers, app is
- 39:25very difficult to get them on there for the retail price and
- 39:28then if they go to, if they go to re say or see online eBay and
- 39:32deep up and stuff like that, I'm normally just, I'm not addicted.
- 39:36So I'd normally just let him slide if because they normally
- 39:39put them up by hundreds on there.
- 39:41So yeah, I'm not, I'm I'm in no way a massive collector.
- 39:45I just get why I like some of them some like Yeezys He's and
- 39:49stuff which I don't really some of them are, okay.
- 39:52I don't, I don't really care for them as much as some people do.
- 39:56So I normally just, you know, get him in.
- 39:59Have a look at them and then just sell them on for a little
- 40:02bit extra than what I've gotten for.
- 40:04But I'm definitely not one of these people.
- 40:06You see, some people on Twitter and stuff who we all get annoyed
- 40:09about all of, all of the sneaker people on Twitter.
- 40:12They they get like, somehow they obviously back door and it like
- 40:16that, they have some friend in a warehouse who's getting it.
- 40:19Yeah, I'm not again, all of the stop.
- 40:20They Takin pictures tweeting out like with, like, 20 pairs of
- 40:25Jordans that have just literally just released.
- 40:27And they're probably making, like, thousands profit from
- 40:30them. It's just annoying like, the
- 40:32people who actually like it for the money.
- 40:34Like even though I said, like, I'd Ivory sold some, I don't do
- 40:38it for profit, I just do it to get him in and then see if I
- 40:41like him. If I don't, then I put him up
- 40:42for life are a fair price, like, without mugging myself off.
- 40:46And while that I'm knocking it over personal, That's
- 40:49interesting. Actually that, yeah, cuz I've
- 40:51seen I've seen you do that before.
- 40:53And obviously, obviously not watched a lot of these videos
- 40:55that you do when specifically specifically, the unboxing ones
- 40:58and the one where it's like, the latest releases videos and use a
- 41:02lot of terms that I had to kind of unlike spend a bit of time
- 41:06trying to understand. So you often say copying, which
- 41:08means, you know, actually buying purchasing them, but what you're
- 41:11talking about, right, there is very common where you purchased
- 41:15them for people or sometimes I see you tweet out like, hey,
- 41:19This pair is about to release who wants me to cop them and
- 41:23it's kind of like a request and then people actually for follow
- 41:26up on that and and say, hey can you cut them for me?
- 41:29So it's like yeah, an interesting kind of like
- 41:32e-commerce style deal. But it's also, as you said, like
- 41:35you're sort of a conservative collector so you're doing it.
- 41:38Like for passion but also interesting, the are like trying
- 41:41them out and seeing that well, maybe they're not for me.
- 41:43I'll sell them on then. And I find that quite
- 41:46interesting but like took us a like Yeah, sorry cat is.
- 41:50What was you gonna ask? Sorry, I was just going to ask
- 41:53light if you could talk a little bit more about the process, I
- 41:56suppose behind, you know, just in general, like, copying
- 41:59trainers. And like you said, using the
- 42:02apps and stuff because I've seen you tweet that you've had
- 42:05difficulties with these things as well.
- 42:06Like it's not an easy process. So talk us through that a little
- 42:10bit. I would say for I have basically
- 42:15there's two that I use. Okay there's I use added added a
- 42:19tap of a seed to get the easies and stuff and then there's the
- 42:22Nike sneakers at which is a separate app that they do just
- 42:26for their new and trendy, you know, sneakers that they're
- 42:29dropping pretty much so that they have on their, they have
- 42:33like a calendar. That shows you upcoming ones,
- 42:35you can click on that notify me when luck like 15 minutes before
- 42:39it comes, it's normally about eight.
- 42:41I am outside normally on a Saturday or something like that.
- 42:45They do have a few things dropping and some most of the
- 42:49time they do sell out some some of them.
- 42:52Like if it's up an off-white collaboration or something
- 42:56that's really really hype. They'll do like a raffle.
- 43:01So basically a raffle is 8, 8 a.m. if say it's Droppin am at
- 43:068:00 a.m. they'll have the raffle open, you can go in, you
- 43:10can put your Email input your Deeds card details in and then
- 43:14it takes about 10 minutes, I'd say to all process and
- 43:18everything and then they basically just pick, you know,
- 43:21random selections out of there to be able to pretty much
- 43:25purchase the shoe. Okay, hold on, hold on.
- 43:28So you put your credit card details in their debit card
- 43:31details in there. And then this randomly selects a
- 43:35pair for you or is it randomly that you'll get a chance to
- 43:38purchase the ones? Yeah.
- 43:40So you put what size you want, right?
- 43:43Okay. Yeah, yeah, right.
- 43:45Other specifics shoes? I say it's the obvious that it's
- 43:48like Wimbledon Wimbledon. Basically you sign.
- 43:51I don't I don't understand that reference.
- 43:53I'm afraid. I don't understand.
- 43:55So yeah. Wimbledon tennis tournament
- 43:58basically because it would be unfair to just sell them
- 44:03straight and because, you know, everyone and their moms wants
- 44:06tickets for to Wimbledon they're really expensive, they operate a
- 44:11raffle system, so obviously they give out a certain amount that
- 44:13are like two celebrities Court, officials Bubba, but most of
- 44:19them, why the majority are raffle, so everyone enters in
- 44:23and then you randomly get selected To, you know, I don't
- 44:27know. You've got courtside seats.
- 44:28So you got seats to this random game or something and it's other
- 44:31when you were out lying that it kind of sounded a little bit
- 44:34similar like the process. Yeah, it does.
- 44:36It does. It does sound like that.
- 44:38So obviously there will be a certain amount of stop that
- 44:40they'll sell on the app. They'll be a certain amount that
- 44:42they take two specific stores may be in London and some nice
- 44:47stores like that in the US and stuff.
- 44:50But yeah, they'll have a specific amount that they can
- 44:52sell the each of each size on the Up and for me, always go for
- 44:57my size, obviously, because there are sizes that resell for
- 45:01more. Hmm.
- 45:03Right. So say, like size 10 size 7,
- 45:06they're quite popular sizes. So some people, it's harder to
- 45:09get those basically, but for size 12, it's tiny bit easier.
- 45:14But with the, with the main drops, they're virtually
- 45:17impossible. Like you get one raffle entry
- 45:21per device that you're on per account, basically.
- 45:26Yeah, you put in your details and then they pick a pick.
- 45:29Someone who's lucky enough to be able to purchase the shoe
- 45:32because sometimes I've explained it to people before and they
- 45:35think like it's the raffle to win the true for free.
- 45:38You, is that a raffle? It's a raffle to be able to
- 45:41purchase basically, it's a raffle for the honor of
- 45:44purchasing that on the knife. Basically, there's no other way
- 45:50they could do that though because you just know
- 45:53particularly what you said before about people.
- 45:55Of Panama language that taking the piss and buying up a load.
- 45:58You just know. There would be a people with
- 46:00more dollar who would undercut. So let's say, Nike is selling
- 46:05them for 100 or something. For a set in, they would buy
- 46:10them offline, buy them in bulk and then sell them at like 95 or
- 46:1590 or something. So, they're just about
- 46:17undercutting them. But basically, or maybe they
- 46:19were even selling for more even and just be like, yeah
- 46:22completely, yeah. Actually I've seen that.
- 46:24Where they Buy them out of stock and then sell it for more and
- 46:29it's like, really not morally. Yeah.
- 46:31Just it's kind of sucks there. There are some releases that are
- 46:34like, first come first serve. So they're obviously just
- 46:38whoever get whoever clicks the button first.
- 46:40But they're also have been times where I've been on their way in,
- 46:44if you know, 759 8:00, click, click on it.
- 46:47Size, 12, click on it. Yeah, didn't get it.
- 46:50It takes a little, like, a couple minutes to process didn't
- 46:53go through. They were already all sold.
- 46:56It's ridiculously. Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 46:59Imagine the that they're the main sort of their, the main
- 47:02sort of strategies I have for releasing stuff basically.
- 47:08And did you often get like problems with like the website
- 47:10crashing or something like there's loads of people trying
- 47:13to cop them at the same time or no, I'd say their prey because
- 47:19of just a, because of the nature of the app.
- 47:22I'm in both taken that into consideration because they know
- 47:26People are only going to be on there on Saturday, so they know.
- 47:30I think they've got that that aspect to it is very, you know,
- 47:34it's very well looked after, but it's just like, I've had very
- 47:39limited amounts when I've actually hit on the Nike
- 47:42sneakers out. Like I'm yeah.
- 47:45It you're very, very lucky, like, if you tweet.
- 47:47Oh, yeah, I got an, send a screenshot of, you know, you
- 47:50know, what is the Gotham? And then the, and then the shoe
- 47:54if you get that like you're getting You're getting loads of
- 47:56likes, you get a load of retweets because that's like
- 47:59this is It's a there's a there's a there's a certain amount of
- 48:01like flexing here involved in. Basically, it's like, yeah.
- 48:04Look what I caught kind of deal. It's just so exciting is though,
- 48:07because it's not even about it's not even about the actual money
- 48:11though, because I do not want another talking the, the money,
- 48:15I mean more that the kind of exclusivity of cuckoos, a lot of
- 48:20the time when you talk about a many of these trainers, I've
- 48:22noticed a lot of them a limited edition as well.
- 48:25So those aren't there, Selling a certain amount and then the
- 48:27never going to sell them again. Presumably or unless they do we
- 48:33sell many years later or whatever.
- 48:36Like I've seen, you do videos on.
- 48:37Yeah, but yeah. Like, that's what you mean more,
- 48:41isn't it? The exclusivity of those
- 48:43trainers. It's all right.
- 48:45Yeah. It's about ask fully completely
- 48:47luck-based. Someone with just the right
- 48:49amount of money may be able to get it and, you know, not felt
- 48:53or not afford to eat that that for that month and then There'll
- 48:56be other people that have load that has money to burn, but they
- 48:59don't get the chance of getting it.
- 49:01But then, that same day, you'll see people, you know, hundreds
- 49:05of them appearing on eBay and stuff.
- 49:07All all marked up by about one to two hundred extra pounds, if
- 49:12you really wanted them. But I still, I still clear of
- 49:15that steer clear of the resale Market because it's just some of
- 49:20them. They even they bring back like
- 49:22they bring they remake the shoe. Just tiny, tiny little details
- 49:28that are different. And then, yeah, they bring them
- 49:31back. So then obviously the ones that
- 49:33are on eBay that are holding all there like, you know, 10 pairs
- 49:37of this shoe, they're all decreasing in value because more
- 49:39people more people manage to get the ones that they want.
- 49:43But yeah, there are definitely people that take the mick a
- 49:46little bit. Obviously if you go to a Locker
- 49:50location to buy them and you have a friend, you know, there
- 49:54are some people picking up 10. 10, 20, 30 Pairs and their, you
- 49:58know, making hundred hundred dollars a hundred pounds extra.
- 50:03You know, they're sort of profiting off of people's, you
- 50:06know, passion for it. And that's the difference
- 50:09between me. And those kind of people, I'm
- 50:11not here saying, oh yeah, I'm the best person ever and stuff.
- 50:14But, like, with some Yeezys that I've sort of unboxed and stuff,
- 50:18and I've looked and I've tried them on and stuff and I didn't
- 50:21really like him, I sort of offer them to, you know, the people
- 50:25around. The people around me and the
- 50:27people I know. Yeah, I offer if anyone else
- 50:31wants them for, you know, reduce price or just the price of
- 50:34shipping and stuff. And then, if not, I just put
- 50:37them up on eBay for maybe 20 pounds, extra just to cover
- 50:41costs or 50 pound extra but that's, I know that sounds like
- 50:45I'm taking the mick but that's like That's like 50 or 100 lb
- 50:51less than what other people asking for.
- 50:52So it's really normal and that that that profit is then
- 50:56obviously put back into the system, like I'm then purchasing
- 50:59another pair or replacing that. So it's not.
- 51:03It's not like I'm just taking it and blowing it on strippers and
- 51:07drugs and stuff. I'm trying to do good with
- 51:10trying to do good with it but yeah.
- 51:13And then obviously look like you mentioned before, there are like
- 51:16times when you will offer your yes.
- 51:18An assist is called so you offer you offered to give someone else
- 51:21a store. You are something to get, get an
- 51:23assist. So there will be times when
- 51:25like, I don't really care about a specific drop so I'll say it.
- 51:29Does anyone want me to does? Anyone want to use my profile?
- 51:33Basically, obviously, I'll do it.
- 51:34But like, do you want me to like Christian?
- 51:37Do you want me to try for a size 11 or something in this in this
- 51:41specific shoe? So basically meat.
- 51:44So like if I was trying to combat trainer then then me my
- 51:47profile and your profile both Go for it and again creases are
- 51:50chances kind of thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:53Exactly. Yeah.
- 51:54So are so maybe you'll put on the group chat or something like
- 51:57old? Can anyone can if anyone's
- 52:00doesn't want this for themselves, then can you try and
- 52:03get it for me? And they'll be some people, you
- 52:05know, like me and like, people are trying to surround myself
- 52:08with who, you know, I kind and they'll want to help people.
- 52:11And then there's some that are like, know I could get it and
- 52:14sell it to you for 100 more and stuff.
- 52:16Like there's people like that that you get as well, but Ya
- 52:20know if it's a ruthless world that obviously people aren't
- 52:23saying that. But there are definitely people
- 52:25who don't come through with the assist for 4 people just because
- 52:28they're using every chance they can get to make a dollar, you
- 52:31know the saying so. But yeah.
- 52:34It's a weird world when you're not really involved in it is
- 52:38definitely not even just saying this out loud.
- 52:41Now is strange too. Yeah, it's like a little cartel.
- 52:46It's not that strange. I mean I mean we've I've seen
- 52:49some of this kind of behavior in its extreme form like - Lea
- 52:53speaking in the the pandemic right now with people, you know,
- 52:57buying like tons of toilet, roll and then selling it on eBay and
- 53:02stuff. And like, I'm hand sanitizer
- 53:04guys. Well, yeah, loads of it.
- 53:07Yeah, there's a guy that guy he must do.
- 53:11There was this guy in America. I saw that bought, like, thirty
- 53:16thousand dollars worth of hand side.
- 53:18Sighs. Uh forget this, the police found
- 53:21them out, and then he had to then give all of it away for
- 53:27free back to light, even local stores or the local people, some
- 53:31of these, they just lost loads of money and yeah they get to
- 53:35keep yeah. Like they banned him from
- 53:38selling it didn't like they've had used in like eBay and stuff.
- 53:41So he pretty much had to give it away because he had no other use
- 53:45for it. That's what you get.
- 53:48That's what you get. That's the feeling when they
- 53:51restock a shoe that someone's holding, that's the feeling that
- 53:54the sneaker had the snakeheads field were like yes we got our
- 53:58revenge now. There's extra stuff on the
- 54:00market so the prices are going down.
- 54:03Yeah, good stuff. Fighting the good sign.
- 54:06Yeah. What is it?
- 54:07You love about sneakers so much. That what would you say the main
- 54:11reason is that you love sneakers.
- 54:16Outside. at first, it was just from a From an interest of sort
- 54:26of the Technologies within them, I would say, obviously that
- 54:29first, you know, time when I Was preparing for That interview, it
- 54:33was more about, you know, the sports performance aspect to it
- 54:39rather than, you know, the fashion aspect.
- 54:45Yeah. So I just, I just looked up, you
- 54:47know, the running Technologies all that the Air Max and the
- 54:51free-run technology. And, you know, the In technology
- 54:55and stuff because obviously getting the job as well.
- 54:59We had to go through like days of training and learn and all
- 55:01this stuff. So we watch like Nike
- 55:04documentaries and you know but behind the scenes of them
- 55:08designing and making it best for the athletes and stuff because
- 55:12there's a lot that goes into it to that to the naked eye.
- 55:15You know it just looks I'll this is just a this got a nice shape
- 55:19to it. You probably run a bit better in
- 55:20it but they are the people that work on this stuff.
- 55:24Scientists there they are, you know, they're true Workman there
- 55:30you know putting materials to the test and everything.
- 55:32So that's one thing that I really took interest in is the
- 55:37sort of performance aspect to it and then just getting into that
- 55:40kind of world, you know, being more active on Twitter and then
- 55:44you know, moving into content I, you know, started getting to
- 55:49know more people. There's people that I, you know,
- 55:52talk to on a weekly basis. Who are, you know, involved in
- 55:55that kind of world and then sort of just after that learn about
- 56:00the story behind different shoes, like who wore them why
- 56:06they were popular. The have you seen the
- 56:09documentary the Michael Jordan? I think it's the last dance.
- 56:12It was called net. Is that the one that had the
- 56:14meme thing where it's like? It took that personal that thing
- 56:18is it? Yeah, well, awesome.
- 56:22Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think.
- 56:24I believe so. Yeah I haven't seen it but it
- 56:26looks like a very like recent documentary like it's been done
- 56:30last couple of. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:32Yeah, it was I think last year that came out and obviously I
- 56:36knew the whole obviously I wasn't around for it but the
- 56:39whole Michael Jordan situation and you know how, what a big
- 56:43impact he had on basketball and sneakers in general, but just
- 56:47like putting that just to put this into context like everyone
- 56:50goes on about, you know, LeBron James like these days Bond
- 56:54James, Bond. James Bond James, right?
- 56:56Or Kobe, but, like, Michael Jordan was like the LeBron James
- 57:00of that in the 90s basically. Like, just the whole, of course,
- 57:03meal is more than that, arguably.
- 57:05That's people. Yeah, there's people that debate
- 57:07like that all the time. I'll it's LeBron the new Michael
- 57:11Jordan and like I don't think anyone not any Sportsman has
- 57:16ever come close to just just from what I've seen has ever
- 57:20come close to the impact that that man had.
- 57:22I think it was because mentality As well.
- 57:25Yeah, it wasn't just that do like it was his impact on that
- 57:27pop culture. I think that's the thing that's
- 57:29kind of maybe possibly a bit with like see LeBron.
- 57:31Like I know he's obviously involved in different things in
- 57:34there is pop culture surrounding him stuff but like you know, I
- 57:37mean, Michael Jordan was in like Space Jam for instance and as I
- 57:41know, they're making a sequel and it's going to have a lover
- 57:44on him and stuff, but I'm just saying, yeah, I was going to say
- 57:47that they can another. Yeah, I'm game for it though.
- 57:50I'm always game for some. Yeah, 90s Nostalgia and you
- 57:53know, Take on it so we'll see. Maybe I'll be good.
- 57:58Yeah, yeah, so they yes, I do the Last Dance documentary.
- 58:04Obviously, I've sinned, I've sinned, Michael Jordan play, but
- 58:06just to put the whole story behind, obviously I wasn't there
- 58:09to experience that but that documentary does a really great
- 58:13job of highlighting his, you know what, like you said,
- 58:16cultural impact, as well as how much of a great athlete.
- 58:20He was so just to see that as well.
- 58:23I saw Um, I saw the I've Jordan Sevens, I saw he's wearing
- 58:27Jordans 7s, when he when he beat, I think it was a Detroit
- 58:31Pistons, he beat when they finally beat him.
- 58:33I said, I know way, I've got the Jordan Sevens and it's just
- 58:36little things like that, that just just sort of make it and
- 58:40make it that extra little bit special.
- 58:42And then obviously just being so involved like that.
- 58:46There's loads of people all over America that I'm sort of in
- 58:51contact with on a regular basis and they they are So how's it
- 58:55going over the pond, man? Like I'm that little UK friend
- 59:00or whatever and just talking about it with them as well, it's
- 59:03just really nice. It's about being in a group.
- 59:06I know I saw your skateboard in your skateboarding.
- 59:12Yeah, you're skateboarding podcast and you said about being
- 59:15part of a group and sort of, you know, feeling welcoming and
- 59:19feeling part of a movement and part of a group of people.
- 59:23So, So I think it is a lot to do with that as well.
- 59:26Just obviously I've just explained to you loads of
- 59:28different, you know, techniques and helping each other and, you
- 59:32know, different terminology and stuff.
- 59:34So, just being part of something like that.
- 59:36Some people really interested in video games and and, you know
- 59:40certain Sports and stuff like that, and anywhere them do, it
- 59:45has to be a part of something that I've always been.
- 59:48Not to sound like cringy but it's just how my life has turned
- 59:52out. I've always been like that kind
- 59:53of Lone Wolf thing, it's just happened that way.
- 59:56I've always tried to be part of groups but it's just never kind
- 59:58of worked out. So I always just kind of learn.
- 1:00:01Okay, I just do my own thing, right?
- 1:00:02And that's one of the things I laid out with a skateboard and
- 1:00:05thing is, it's like it's good because it can be both and I
- 1:00:09suppose like in a sense that you can enjoy it on your own and you
- 1:00:12can enjoy it with people. Like things are always better
- 1:00:14with people like regardless, it's always better to share your
- 1:00:18love. Passionate things with other
- 1:00:19people, but it's nice that you can also appreciate it on its
- 1:00:23own as well. You can be a sneaker collectors
- 1:00:25and enthusiasts and like you know that can just be something
- 1:00:29you that's just for you and for no one else, right?
- 1:00:33So it got I kind of get it in that sense but I think, yeah,
- 1:00:36it's probably more enjoyable is to the community aspect of it
- 1:00:44and as he that feeds into my next question.
- 1:00:47Now I know you've done a video for Or this.
- 1:00:49So, for those who haven't seen it, I recommend that you go
- 1:00:53check it out. Basically, charge Jack.
- 1:00:55We did a video on how the UK and the u.s. trainer scenes compare.
- 1:01:00There's a really good video very informative and obviously is
- 1:01:03from your perspective and stuff and opinion and everything but
- 1:01:07it's a very good video. I think of kind of demonstrating
- 1:01:10like of how massive it is in America and then maybe not that
- 1:01:14it's not as big in the UK but it's just like different Could
- 1:01:19you kind of like outline maybe some of those bigger
- 1:01:21differences? Like because you said, you've
- 1:01:24got friends that kind of rely on you.
- 1:01:26They're like hey what's it? What's going on in the UK, kind
- 1:01:28of deal. So you're like a source of
- 1:01:30information for them but what's the UK scene?
- 1:01:33Like? And yeah, how does it compare to
- 1:01:35the US? I'll definitely say even just
- 1:01:40from a YouTube point of view, there's not the market for a UK
- 1:01:44guy has not been filled in the slightest, like I couldn't even
- 1:01:47tell you, The biggest guy that that there is no much to use.
- 1:01:52It must be. Yeah.
- 1:01:54It must be me. So so sorry.
- 1:02:00So we're talking about UK versus u.s. also on another side note
- 1:02:04from that, I'm thinking about doing sort of a follow-up to
- 1:02:07that and like you said like you just mentioned though, it was
- 1:02:11obviously just me sort of given my point of view.
- 1:02:15So I'm looking to and I've got a few people in mind.
- 1:02:18Of invite someone else. I want to talk about it with me
- 1:02:20about the differences and give their sort of background as
- 1:02:24someone you know. But I'm not going to because he
- 1:02:26hasn't said that he will do it yet so I'm I think I have an
- 1:02:29idea but yeah, you probably know.
- 1:02:31Yeah so yeah so how does it differ?
- 1:02:36Yeah be I don't know. You probably be wrong to say
- 1:02:39that is is smaller and I probably do say that it's not as
- 1:02:42simple as influential here and some people did point out to me
- 1:02:46and I think I saw did misspeak Speak a little bit because I was
- 1:02:49just talking from my son, was your individual kind of figure
- 1:02:54was saying. The point of the video is, you
- 1:02:55are saying that growing up in your school, your experience was
- 1:02:59that, you know, there wasn't really anyone focused on it,
- 1:03:02maybe the people playing sports were, but ultimately.
- 1:03:05And as we both spoke about earlier, yeah, in the
- 1:03:07mainstream. You just, you know, if I walk
- 1:03:09down the High Street, now I'm not going to see people walking
- 1:03:12around in Jordan's unless they're playing bass.
- 1:03:14Yeah, that's the reality here. Whereas, in America, it's Very
- 1:03:18likely or find that like just people randomly chilling with
- 1:03:22Air Jordans or whatever Yeezys or, you know?
- 1:03:27Yeah, so I would say that people aren't as creative or
- 1:03:33adventurous, especially in my area, when it comes to what they
- 1:03:38can and can't wear. I would say, Obviously, you see
- 1:03:42a lot of, you know, you see a lot of bad Chevy's around with
- 1:03:46the Air Maxes on stuff that all black.
- 1:03:48Back Air Force Ones, Air Max 90 are Max 95 so boring and I do ya
- 1:03:55like that, that is great and obviously it goes with a lot and
- 1:03:58stuff and it matches sort of the cold and the dirty weather and
- 1:04:01everything. So it makes sense, not to just
- 1:04:04to be walking around, in bright colors, but then I see your
- 1:04:06point, actually be fair play. And then obviously, we've got
- 1:04:11like the white that all white Air Force Ones.
- 1:04:13Every every teenage girl has those are swear or multiple
- 1:04:18pairs. For people buying like two pairs
- 1:04:20a year and you know, just throw them away when they're a bit
- 1:04:23dirty. But yes, I just say not so much
- 1:04:29that it doesn't have as big of an influence.
- 1:04:31But I'd say, like, I only saw a handful of people wearing
- 1:04:35Jordans at my school and just from, just the way people, like,
- 1:04:40you know, sore knee kicks and, and some other like, some other
- 1:04:44people, sort of my age, they're into it, over in the USA.
- 1:04:49Just from the way they talk about it.
- 1:04:51You can tell that it it has more of a day-to-day impact on them
- 1:04:55rather than just the people who are, you know, super fans in the
- 1:05:00UK, like there was one guy I know played basketball and I
- 1:05:04know he had some Jordans and some some I think he played in
- 1:05:09some LeBrons, I think he played in, I'm LeBron 17s or something.
- 1:05:15And obviously, I took full notice of that because I was
- 1:05:17like, wait this But this is weird.
- 1:05:19Like how is this? How is this guy?
- 1:05:21You know, walking around in these purple and yellow?
- 1:05:25LeBron 17? Like this is weird but yeah, I
- 1:05:28had another friend who had the Rookie of the Year.
- 1:05:30Jordan 1, which is like the brown brown likes of boot.
- 1:05:35Look in Jordan, once-over really nice.
- 1:05:36He still has those now, I think, but there'd be there because
- 1:05:40he'll just I know I'm going to sound like an idiot for this but
- 1:05:43like given that I know nothing about this.
- 1:05:46We've all of these Jordan shoes. shoes are they all shoes that
- 1:05:51Jordan originally played in or is it like some of them are and
- 1:05:54then the rest are just designs that have been created under
- 1:05:57this brand like, which is a Its a mix actually.
- 1:06:02So there are ones that are Retros.
- 1:06:04Which are like, you know, original releases.
- 1:06:07Their ones that are really sought after and the people that
- 1:06:11did grow up in that time, obviously they're going to hold
- 1:06:13those two really high regard when it comes to like, how much
- 1:06:16they're willing to spend. So, when those pop-up, they'll,
- 1:06:20you know, they'll sell how instantly they'll be the ones
- 1:06:22that are like, you know, they've gone up from like, 170 pounds up
- 1:06:27to like 500 pounds and stuff hex or something like that.
- 1:06:29They'll be crazy prices maybe even up to 1,000 if they're like
- 1:06:33Jordan 1 or something. That's very you know very
- 1:06:37influential that they'll normally be a red and a white
- 1:06:43colourway. That is called a red white and
- 1:06:45black says bread bread colorway basically.
- 1:06:49So it's a red color way because of obviously the Chicago Bulls.
- 1:06:52So a lot of a lot of his shoes were just red white and blue and
- 1:06:55black. So when you see when you see
- 1:06:58colorway is Like the base color then.
- 1:07:01So it's like red shoe pry, the way is just the color
- 1:07:06combination, basically. Okay.
- 1:07:09Think I'm learning. So that's how that's how I think
- 1:07:11about it. So, it'll be like old, it's the
- 1:07:14Jordan 1 in a bread colorway, which is basically black red and
- 1:07:19white colourway and then people people will generally the trend
- 1:07:25is that red will sell better, they'll sell the best just
- 1:07:28because he was Chicago, I was ready.
- 1:07:30He might to fight him red. Then they'll be some that he
- 1:07:34didn't play in that are very like limited there aren't
- 1:07:40necessarily read and they'll be some from ages ago.
- 1:07:42They'll be new ones that people really like.
- 1:07:45So there is a mix of new and old designs.
- 1:07:48But people do people do especially gravitate towards the
- 1:07:54Retros. They and some people exclusively
- 1:07:58lot, obviously some rich people and stuff.
- 1:07:59If they exclusively look for just the Retro.
- 1:08:02The Retro shoes. Basically.
- 1:08:04Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
- 1:08:08I just, I feel like I'm learning so much.
- 1:08:10I knew I would learn from this, but I just, yeah, it's just
- 1:08:12interesting to like, pick your brains about all this a bit
- 1:08:16more, you know, and also, sorry with I'll just add this on.
- 1:08:20Just to give a little bit more information, but it with the
- 1:08:23Retros. So obviously, because they'll be
- 1:08:27manufactured in different years and They'll be slightly
- 1:08:31different. They're obviously supposed to be
- 1:08:33the same shoe, but it'll be slightly different.
- 1:08:35And because people are more particular about, you know, are
- 1:08:39these, you know, 1990s, Jordan Ones are they 2013?
- 1:08:45Jordan one's life that. What addition they are.
- 1:08:47So, they'll be listed on that stock X or Ebay.
- 1:08:51Basically, with a lot of emphasis on what year, what
- 1:08:54years released, they are if you get what I mean.
- 1:08:56Okay, people obviously like the old.
- 1:08:59This one's are there. They're like you know you can't
- 1:09:03even find them on sale so they could be feasibility.
- 1:09:06People would be like oh yeah yeah the the 95s are like
- 1:09:10Classics and then someone goes. Oh they're 99 stare trash, you
- 1:09:13don't want him like there's a formula.
- 1:09:14Yeah, say yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 1:09:17I'll be like, older the day, they used cheap a lever on the
- 1:09:21the newer version. So yeah, they're like the poor
- 1:09:23man's versions even though they're still selling for like
- 1:09:26500 pounds, like it, you know, people That aren't sort of rule
- 1:09:30book that they live by whether what they're allowed to buy what
- 1:09:33they can't. Some people will say this.
- 1:09:36Wow. No I just mean like, some people
- 1:09:39will sort of like a religion they'll stick to like, I'm only
- 1:09:43going to wear my team's Colours. I'm only going to wear Retros.
- 1:09:49I'm only going to wear things. That draw them actually wore
- 1:09:52himself cause I'm going to say and just just felt like the
- 1:09:57Jordan 1. For example, this is another
- 1:09:59example of how People Define it, they have and I'm sure because I
- 1:10:03heard you talking about your skate shoes, right?
- 1:10:06Thusly and stuff like that. And I know Vance their skate
- 1:10:11shoe right fans very much. Wow, they have a lot hotter.
- 1:10:15You know they have high top and low top and it's the same with
- 1:10:20like Jordan Ones and some other Jordan models they'll have like
- 1:10:22a high top version and mid top version and a low top.
- 1:10:26It's funny you mention that as well actually, I knew about this
- 1:10:30Growing up, when I was a skateboarder because I had some
- 1:10:34points, I did actually have, they won't exactly basketball
- 1:10:38shoes, but they were high tops low tops.
- 1:10:42That are, like, I really liked the high tops.
- 1:10:46I wear a lot of like Nike High Tops or oh God, I can't remember
- 1:10:51the brands but they were like, I'm always American brands.
- 1:10:53They will always look really expensive.
- 1:10:55Like at least 50 or 60 base price.
- 1:10:59But they were great for skateboarding in and that, like,
- 1:11:02for me, I would always get them based on obviously the look and
- 1:11:06stuff. But like, how you could skate on
- 1:11:09them, because like certain shoes were actually trash.
- 1:11:11Like, if you got there some people that stand by wearing
- 1:11:15things like Etnies and you know the bulk shoes, the they look
- 1:11:19horrible but they're like really bulky skate shoes that are like
- 1:11:23fat. They're like look firm.
- 1:11:26You know me, I see that. Yeah.
- 1:11:27They're kind of like a Jordan sort of size.
- 1:11:29Is as a, not how bulky they are. Is that right?
- 1:11:32Like, you see a lot of luck? A is it d.c. the brand?
- 1:11:35Yeah. See, they have a lot of like,
- 1:11:36fat fat skate shoes. Don't they, rather than it's
- 1:11:40like died when I had back in the early 2000s?
- 1:11:43When I was growing up they had like this, the style.
- 1:11:46It was like really popular. I always hated that style
- 1:11:49though. I was always more into like the
- 1:11:51Nita Vans or the of the Nikes of the are nikias and all that
- 1:11:56stuff, because it looked better and it was easier to skate on.
- 1:11:59On as well. Like the bulky ones, I was going
- 1:12:02to say it must be. It must be hard to get those two
- 1:12:05to make tricks in the big shoot shortly.
- 1:12:08Will some people know, that's the thing.
- 1:12:09Some people think like make the account or argument that it's
- 1:12:12easier in those shoes. And I've skated with both and I
- 1:12:15always personally preferred like skating with Nikes and sin.
- 1:12:19Like, because it was tighter. I felt like I have more control
- 1:12:21on the board and stuff but it's just an individual perspective.
- 1:12:25I suppose it's the same as like basketball shoes.
- 1:12:27You know like people swear by different.
- 1:12:29I always thought it's better for my playing blah, blah, blah.
- 1:12:32It's probably the same thing. But point is anyway, I
- 1:12:35discovered about all of this stuff as well.
- 1:12:38I just didn't realize that it was kind of similar and with
- 1:12:42basketball shoes. Like I thought I was just a
- 1:12:44skateboarding thing. Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:12:47Well with with the Jordan 1, high tops and mid tops and low
- 1:12:51tops. It's not even down to lockup
- 1:12:53performance preference. Like you're talking about, oh,
- 1:12:55it's easier to do tricks in these and stuff.
- 1:12:59People. People hate like there's some
- 1:13:02people that absolutely hate mid top, Jordan Ones and if I'm
- 1:13:06honest the the difference between then them and a high is
- 1:13:11I think one or two, you know, lace holes, it's about an inch
- 1:13:17taller for the highs and they're pretty much the same other than
- 1:13:20that. And there are people that
- 1:13:22they'll bully people that were missed.
- 1:13:24I don't know why it's nothing to do with performance or
- 1:13:29stability. It's hear anything, it's purely
- 1:13:31just a fashion decision. But people say like even though
- 1:13:35we're a high, some people like the lows and then like, they're
- 1:13:39very, it's very rare to see people actually looking out for,
- 1:13:43you know, amidst release like not.
- 1:13:45A lot of people care about midst.
- 1:13:47It's weird. I think I think it's just
- 1:13:48because they're not like original sort of they're not
- 1:13:52they're not look really recognized as our original sort
- 1:13:56of shoes. Obviously I don't believe anyone
- 1:13:58really played And in mid Jordan Ones.
- 1:14:01So, I think people just sort of disregard those, I think so.
- 1:14:06Yeah, just went out of fashion, you know?
- 1:14:08Me cause like, I remember, you know, Converse shoes that the
- 1:14:12original Converse shoes, right? Yeah, they're owned by Nike
- 1:14:16Converse, yeah. Last word I didn't know that.
- 1:14:19Yeah, I owned a parados back in the early 2000s and I did my
- 1:14:23research on them, and I found out because they became a think
- 1:14:25they became popular because like green day and a bunch of other
- 1:14:28punk band started. Wearing them They basically had
- 1:14:30a Resurgence, but they were originally made part of because
- 1:14:35basketball shoes actually in like, yeah, these yeah.
- 1:14:37They are. Yeah, that's like 1950s or
- 1:14:40something. And I was like, wow.
- 1:14:42Like so old and point being that they had that Resurgence. 50
- 1:14:46years later, but like, I don't see anyone wearing them now.
- 1:14:50I see people wearing Converse but not those original ones.
- 1:14:53They wear like they are, aren't they?
- 1:14:56They're called one Stars. The original basketball.
- 1:14:58Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:00Like you wouldn't see anyone caught dead in the originals
- 1:15:02now, like everyone's wearing the vital ones that look more like
- 1:15:06the Vans, I guess. Yeah.
- 1:15:09So I guess they've gone out of popularity but they were huge
- 1:15:13like when I was a teen like everyone had them.
- 1:15:15Like I had like two different colors.
- 1:15:17I think I had like black and some other color.
- 1:15:21Some people had like ridiculous, red green blue is really weird
- 1:15:25but you know whatever. Yeah, cool man.
- 1:15:30It's weird how people make their rules and stuff.
- 1:15:33Just, it's just bizarre to me. I wear, whatever the fuck you
- 1:15:37want, like, what, why did I have to be there?
- 1:15:39But that's mad. But okay, let's because I want
- 1:15:44to ask more about, you know, your your preference at what
- 1:15:48qualities. Do you in your opinion?
- 1:15:50Make the perfect sneaker. the perfect maker I've got, but from
- 1:15:57another perspective, Because there are no one's I don't think
- 1:16:01but you know, your you got a good kind of head for this.
- 1:16:09Outside. Personally, I don't the
- 1:16:13silhouette basically the silhouette as in the model.
- 1:16:15What what is basically, what the shoe is?
- 1:16:19It doesn't really matter to me that much, as long as it's, you
- 1:16:22know, it's something that I like, so Jordan.
- 1:16:25I like or an MX said, I like that.
- 1:16:27I like is fine. It's more about the color for me
- 1:16:30to be honest. Like a lot of people say, no, no
- 1:16:34Jordan one mid. No, Jordan one knows, but if
- 1:16:37there's a nice color in those, Those then oh I'll pick up like
- 1:16:43and if I think I can pull it off as something, they're not then
- 1:16:45I'll pick it up. So like for example and that
- 1:16:48doesn't mean colors. That means like the absence of
- 1:16:51color as well. So that I've got some Nike, SB
- 1:16:54Nike, SB s like skateboarding shoes basically, I used to have
- 1:16:58those. So yeah, that's it.
- 1:17:01Yes, the small little compact, small little compact, sort of
- 1:17:06Vans Style, And basically the whole upper.
- 1:17:10So, the whole sort of material part of the shoe basically, is
- 1:17:15just all black. The soul is all white and it's,
- 1:17:18that's it, but it's so simple and I can wear them with
- 1:17:22anything and you know, they're not the most country in the
- 1:17:25world. But you know, you get that you
- 1:17:27get the SB van sort of look and and it's simple.
- 1:17:30And then I've also got Air Max 95, which are You know, you know
- 1:17:36I'm actually files, right? Yeah.
- 1:17:40Yes, I am accidentally fives, kind of like a bulky issue and
- 1:17:44the bottom, obviously the soul is all white, the top bright,
- 1:17:49yellow, bright blue, so I'm going to let the Bumblebee
- 1:17:52theme, you know? And yeah, so basically with that
- 1:17:57I'm just saying like, I like bulky, you know, slim or loads
- 1:18:02of color, no, color the recent, Jordan, Jordan force that I got.
- 1:18:07They have like metallic red on them all.
- 1:18:09Why? Like so it's just a lot of a lot
- 1:18:11of difference being creative as well.
- 1:18:16I picked up some, it's basically a hybrid shoe.
- 1:18:19They don't do this this often, but it was a collaboration
- 1:18:21between Nike and a brand called patter.
- 1:18:25Then if you've heard of that brand, they did like a custom
- 1:18:29shoe sort of, you know, sort of promotion the collaboration sort
- 1:18:35of thing and it was basically the upper of an Air Max 90.
- 1:18:39E on the sole of an Air Max 95 or you could have it the other
- 1:18:43way around and you could pick pretty much from a few colors on
- 1:18:47each part of the shoe, which what you wanted it to be what
- 1:18:50you wanted it to look like. And yeah, I picked all different
- 1:18:56like I've made it. The most goofy-looking thing I
- 1:18:58possibly could just because I wanted to be different and I
- 1:19:02highly doubt because obviously they made it to order like they
- 1:19:05made your specific design, how you wanted it.
- 1:19:09So, I just wanted mine to be like, one of a kind only, I've
- 1:19:14got him on, so, so yeah. I'm not afraid to just put a bit
- 1:19:18of color on there. I know some people especially in
- 1:19:20the UK I've seen. Just wear all black or white,
- 1:19:24but yeah, just anything. I know I just pretty much martyr
- 1:19:28was anything, but I can see the beauty in any anything man.
- 1:19:32You know, then, and you spoke a lot about like, obviously, you
- 1:19:36work for Nike many of the trainer's that you like on
- 1:19:39nights, like trainers as well, but I kind of, I'm kind of
- 1:19:43interested as to your thoughts on the gun, the great debate.
- 1:19:45So to speak. Like wearing, where do you sit
- 1:19:47with Adidas versus night? Like, where's your head at?
- 1:19:53Outside trust. My team is Nike.
- 1:19:57I have to say, I've shied away from sort of saying that before,
- 1:20:01but I'm pretty much hand on heart.
- 1:20:03Say, like, I pay more attention to Nike, I care more about Nike
- 1:20:08releases and just from having that experience of work in there
- 1:20:13and maybe if I had if in an alternate reality, I walked into
- 1:20:18a DDOS that day instead of Nike, or they called me back about TV
- 1:20:22or whatever. Maybe it, maybe it be the other
- 1:20:25way round button. Yeah.
- 1:20:27Just as of right now I just think added us has some really
- 1:20:31nice design stay. I like some of the Yeezys, I
- 1:20:34like some of the like bulky added us designs and stuff.
- 1:20:37But just in general, I don't pay as much attention to those one
- 1:20:44thing. I'm not sure if it is the figure
- 1:20:45now, but or I don't, I'm not sure if this is true now, but
- 1:20:49when I was working for Nike, I remember reading that And so
- 1:20:53obviously this was a few years ago that the biggest brand like,
- 1:20:57the biggest Footwear brand in the world is Nike.
- 1:21:00Yeah. And the second biggest, the
- 1:21:02second biggest Footwear brand in the world is Jordan.
- 1:21:08Yeah, those must be really mean. So I mean a lead us as the
- 1:21:14competitor. I'm not sure if that's the case
- 1:21:16now, but like the fact that their third place to Nike Brands
- 1:21:22is Like, I think it says quite a lot about how much like there
- 1:21:27are definitely more team. Like, you people out there,
- 1:21:29like, 100% I gotta say, as well. Like, uh, obviously, like, I
- 1:21:33don't know a lot about this, but I hear a lot more about Nike
- 1:21:37Jordans. All of that stuff.
- 1:21:39I never really hear about added us making like, similar stuff.
- 1:21:43I'm sure they do but it's just, I don't really hear a lot about
- 1:21:46that. Jen.
- 1:21:47And I mean there's no backup for instance.
- 1:21:49I've never seen you really talk about like all the added ask
- 1:21:52her. Lab.
- 1:21:52Like, maybe you have for me, I always notice the night ones or
- 1:21:56the joins or something like that, so maybe it's just, you
- 1:22:00know. Yeah.
- 1:22:00I think maybe maybe your maybe, what you've seen.
- 1:22:05That's just been based on what I've spoken about.
- 1:22:07Maybe. So maybe my opinion and me sort
- 1:22:10of neglecting added as a sort of rubbed off on you.
- 1:22:14But now I heard like a just in general as well like in stores
- 1:22:17or people that I know or whatever.
- 1:22:18Like I never see. I did ask.
- 1:22:20Yeah, at least in the same in the same way or I don't know,
- 1:22:27maybe I'm not really articulating this very well but
- 1:22:29you get what I mean, right? I do get what you mean.
- 1:22:31Yeah. I think and that is sort of like
- 1:22:33a snowball effect as well. Like you hear about it less.
- 1:22:35So you think about it less? And then right?
- 1:22:38Yeah. You know, you're so I but I do,
- 1:22:41you know, I don't hate added ass.
- 1:22:43I don't, I have some added us sneak as well, but just in terms
- 1:22:48of light upcoming releases Stuff is, unless there's something
- 1:22:52really groundbreaking. I'm not overly fast about added
- 1:22:55us, to be honest. Fair enough.
- 1:22:57Fair enough. Well, let's let's switch it up a
- 1:23:00bit and we'll come back to sneakers a little bit, but let's
- 1:23:03talk about something else outside of YouTube.
- 1:23:06What are your main interests and you know, what do you do for
- 1:23:09fun? Okay, so I've been I've been
- 1:23:15training in Taekwondo for five or six years.
- 1:23:18Now, believe it's about five and a half years.
- 1:23:22So that's been something that I've been doing.
- 1:23:24I've to be honest for the first few years, I didn't really take
- 1:23:28overly seriously, but just recently, I've really been sort
- 1:23:32of looking at how to improve myself how to improve you know
- 1:23:37my techniques and stuff and I've got a couple little Things lined
- 1:23:42up that one spoke about which I think of very exciting.
- 1:23:46So and then also on top of that. Me and a friend started a
- 1:23:52Brazilian jiu-jitsu class which we were sort of yeah
- 1:23:57christianize. He knows we were sort of, I'd
- 1:24:03say encouraged to do that just because I've hit my friend.
- 1:24:07I side with it with. He's helped me a lot, he's
- 1:24:10helped me. Me for a lot of personal stuff
- 1:24:12and everything and I just think like we're both talking about
- 1:24:16how we could really challenge ourselves.
- 1:24:18I think you can't really grow unless you really put yourself
- 1:24:21through something that you don't want to do and the start of this
- 1:24:24year. And I, when I, when I became
- 1:24:26like less active in talking to you and stuff, I really took a
- 1:24:30interest in my physical fitness pushing myself and I've been,
- 1:24:34I've read like more books than I've ever read.
- 1:24:37I've, I've like studied more. I did like online.
- 1:24:41Isn't stuff and I've already pushed myself and I my friend
- 1:24:44that I started that with we're both talking and and he helped
- 1:24:47me through a lot and stuff. And he suggested, why don't we
- 1:24:50start? This Brazilian jiu-jitsu class
- 1:24:52is apparently the hardest martial art in the world.
- 1:24:55Apparently, 90% of people don't make it past white belt, which,
- 1:25:00you know, it's a big achievement in itself to even like make it
- 1:25:04past that. But just the fact that a lot of
- 1:25:06people can't even, you know, it's a massive learning curve.
- 1:25:11It's it challenges you to move in a different way so yeah,
- 1:25:17that's something that I've started quite recently as well
- 1:25:21but I've made short. You you just dropped a video
- 1:25:23which you which you sent to me just before we did the podcast
- 1:25:26and I watched it and it was really, really good for.
- 1:25:28So, for anyone who who wants to go check that out.
- 1:25:31It's basically a one-month progress video of Charles Jaco
- 1:25:35doing Bridget Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and it's a really,
- 1:25:38really good video because I think it kind of out Finds some
- 1:25:42of the reasons why you said you got into it and also like, you
- 1:25:45know, you really kind of go into detail about the discipline and
- 1:25:48like the kind, the kind of Fitness level you need to be at
- 1:25:51when you go into it and what to expect, what to avoid, what
- 1:25:55people's attitudes are, like all of this really interesting
- 1:25:57insight and I guess I guess I like the only question I had
- 1:26:02with that. It was like these tricky because
- 1:26:06you really did go into quite a lot of detail anyway so it's not
- 1:26:09much. I could ask you but I wanted to
- 1:26:11You know like just your progress in general like I guess your
- 1:26:14overall feeling about like for instance I didn't know that you
- 1:26:17already did Ty Condos for so long.
- 1:26:19So you already have like that bass, kind of understanding
- 1:26:23because I've done a little bit of martial arts and I know that,
- 1:26:26you know, you have to have discipline is very, very
- 1:26:30important, integral to it like it's so much more about the mind
- 1:26:34and the discipline then then physicality of it's like you got
- 1:26:37a master that stuff first. Before you even get to the
- 1:26:41physicality stuff and then obviously course.
- 1:26:43Yeah, right. And then there's all the other
- 1:26:45stuff with like, like for instance, you gave a really cool
- 1:26:49pointer in the video where you say that, you know, you grew up
- 1:26:51doing rugby and you had to basically like retrain because
- 1:26:56there's something you did with like, your head and like, you
- 1:26:58basically, you kept getting, I think you said, like, you got
- 1:27:02tackled or like Tate like takeovers were too easy.
- 1:27:05So you had basically other people were telling you, hey,
- 1:27:08stop talking. Your head, because that makes it
- 1:27:11easier for a take that's, you're basically having to retrain your
- 1:27:15muscle memory. That's, yeah, that's what you
- 1:27:16are saying in the video. And interesting.
- 1:27:19So yeah, so, so with that, if that, if anyone hasn't seen it
- 1:27:23already, it's Jiu-Jitsu is is grappling.
- 1:27:28It's sort of to someone who doesn't know.
- 1:27:31Really even what Zhu Jiu Jitsu looks like.
- 1:27:34Think of sort of wrestling submissions you know headlocks
- 1:27:38and And you know, manipulate and Limbs, and stuff to, you know,
- 1:27:43for someone to tap out so it's no punch in its no kick in, its
- 1:27:47no striking of any nature, it's some takedowns and then it's
- 1:27:52really like a chess is a chess game.
- 1:27:54Basically move against move, he's got my arm, I need to, you
- 1:28:00know, create a frame, and get out of that.
- 1:28:02I need to, you know, use certain leverage because my arms here,
- 1:28:06and I can, you know, tip him onto his back and You know, so
- 1:28:10it's very physical and that's how it differs from Taekwondo,
- 1:28:13which is very, you know. I'm, I'm all set all the way up
- 1:28:17here. I'm kicking from a distance, I'm
- 1:28:19retreating, and I'm kicking again.
- 1:28:20It's, it is very difficult and it requires a whole different
- 1:28:24strength to begin with. It's definitely less, you get
- 1:28:30less contact in something like taekwondo or karate or
- 1:28:33something, when where you're striking, and then sort of
- 1:28:36playing tactfully whereas in Jiu-Jitsu It's literally all
- 1:28:41guns blazing, you know, dudes. Like he's accidentally elbow me
- 1:28:46in the face, I'm getting caught up and stuff.
- 1:28:48I'm Brew like people like you do it there are different styles
- 1:28:52like those gay or no GE GE is like the suit.
- 1:28:55The, you know, the suit that you wear the sort of Martial Arts
- 1:28:59uniform with the guy, obviously, you can do a lot of sort of, you
- 1:29:05can get controlled by grabbing them on the collar and stuff
- 1:29:08like that. And people are literally like
- 1:29:13it. You're so chaotic that they're
- 1:29:15grabbing you by this like the skin, like they're grabbing you
- 1:29:17through the thing on the skin. I've got massive hand marks all
- 1:29:21over my arms and stuff. Like it's, it's mad like, it's
- 1:29:25very aggressive. Like, we're, I'm getting, I'm
- 1:29:27taking accidentally taken like, knees and elbows to the face.
- 1:29:30I'm, you know, I'm seeing the light, I'm getting choked out, I
- 1:29:34can't feel my legs and yeah. Man, I'm all over the place so
- 1:29:40where are we? So yeah, so it definitely
- 1:29:44requires something very different and yeah, there was a
- 1:29:49lot of stuff that needs to be unlearned when it came to sort
- 1:29:52of my past experience is I played rugby for about three
- 1:29:55years, maybe three or four years.
- 1:30:00Never, really took that too seriously.
- 1:30:01But one thing I was good at was tackling and sort of being in
- 1:30:05the scrum and stuff. So, So of putting your head down
- 1:30:09low there in your shoulder, and it's not really advisable in
- 1:30:12Jiu-Jitsu just because you're sort of open yourself up to sort
- 1:30:16of like a headlock or some kind of take down, you're putting
- 1:30:19yourself in a really bad position by sort of letting your
- 1:30:22head go under their armpit, basically, which is going to get
- 1:30:26you in a headlock like, even to someone who's not trained at
- 1:30:29all. It's, it's a bad position
- 1:30:31position to be in. But obviously, in that situation
- 1:30:34you're not thinking about what you're doing, it's all muscle.
- 1:30:37Marie. That's all any of this is muscle
- 1:30:39memory so it's a mistake that I made countless times and yeah.
- 1:30:44So we've shown that I just wanted to sort of highlight that
- 1:30:50you know, people that they're helpful in that in that regard.
- 1:30:53And yeah, that's a I just wanted to make people aware that.
- 1:30:58It's okay to mess up, especially when you're starting.
- 1:31:02And obviously even people as great as me, make mistakes
- 1:31:05sometimes, You think with because obviously yeah you said
- 1:31:10that you studied Taekwondo for many years beforehand and
- 1:31:14obviously just started with you. Did you Jutsu do you have like a
- 1:31:17plan with this as far as like you plan on may be moving into
- 1:31:21my maybe amateur fighting or something like that or is this
- 1:31:24just a purely like personal thing that you just trying to
- 1:31:27better yourself with or like, is there any plan with that?
- 1:31:32Okay. So with the Jiu-Jitsu that is
- 1:31:36mainly a personal sort of it was the I I'm I'm I'm a busy person.
- 1:31:42I'd need to be moving at all times.
- 1:31:44So, with adding Jiu-Jitsu to my schedule that's giving me four
- 1:31:51or five days a week where I'm I'm doing martial arts training,
- 1:31:56four or five days a week, so either it's Taekwondo or
- 1:31:59Jiu-Jitsu and that's 45. In a row.
- 1:32:02So that's really pushing myself and and on top of that, I do on
- 1:32:07my lunch breaks because I'm working from home currently.
- 1:32:10I have a little sort of, I've a little sort of a gym set up in
- 1:32:14my garage. I've got some some dumbbells,
- 1:32:18I've got a punching bag, I've got some weights and stuff, so I
- 1:32:21do about an hour, 45 minutes of our weight session on my lunch
- 1:32:26break like while I have a break and then from about 7:00 to 29.
- 1:32:32I do 7:00 to 9:00 at night. I do, martial, arts training.
- 1:32:37So I'm getting I'm getting a good few hours a day and but
- 1:32:42thus and even still I'm sometimes I go to bed and I
- 1:32:46think I could have given it more.
- 1:32:49I could have given it more so but and I know I sort of glossed
- 1:32:53over it and I'm all over the place and I don't know how well
- 1:32:55this is going to translate into what I'm thinking and what I'm
- 1:32:57still fine, man. You do fine.
- 1:32:59Don't worry. I'm not going to say his name,
- 1:33:03but I will lot to my friend who sort of got me into that and
- 1:33:06stuff and I've had conversations with him about like, where I'd
- 1:33:10be if it wasn't for him, but he's doing certain things with
- 1:33:14jiu-jitsu that he's thinking about sort of how his career is
- 1:33:19going to progress and stuff and right.
- 1:33:21Sort of looking into that more of a disciplined lifestyle where
- 1:33:24I'm just doing it for just the fitness aspect and taking.
- 1:33:29I'm taking a Taekwondo a little bit.
- 1:33:31Cersei custom Bella of course? Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:33:34Yeah please. Yeah.
- 1:33:35So I think. Yeah, other than that, like,
- 1:33:38Jiu-Jitsu just a bit fun. I'm just trying to sort of
- 1:33:42experience, something new. Try something and see where it
- 1:33:44goes. I'll probably do some
- 1:33:45competitions and stuff, but since taking Taekwondo little
- 1:33:49bit more seriously, I've I've sort of been talking with my
- 1:33:53teacher, my master, a little bit more and stuff just basically
- 1:33:57trying to get all the training in.
- 1:33:58I can and everything. And he sort of Advised me to go
- 1:34:02for it. So I can't remember the exact
- 1:34:05term for, it's like a talent acquisition day, okay?
- 1:34:09So, sort of like a sort of like a trial day, I saw that showing
- 1:34:13I've got they and it's with a with the company sort of over
- 1:34:18overlooks. The the Taekwondo is British
- 1:34:21Taekwondo basically. So overlooks the tire combo,
- 1:34:25teamed the Taekwondo, you know, teaching all over Britain.
- 1:34:29And so, they'll be people That who are present people from the
- 1:34:32Olympics and stuff. And it's basically a day where
- 1:34:37they'll sort of see who if anyone's fit to join the GB
- 1:34:41team. So that's something that I'm
- 1:34:43actually working towards right now.
- 1:34:45I'm wow, he's giving me like, he's doubling down my training.
- 1:34:49He's like, I'm, you know, I'm trying to that's what I'm doing.
- 1:34:53That's why I said, look, I'm doing like white session.
- 1:34:55I'm doing two hours of training a day.
- 1:34:58I'm really trying to take this seriously.
- 1:34:59And even if I don't like, Make it.
- 1:35:02I'm just going to give it and really like test myself and see
- 1:35:06how well I can do on the day and see how close I can get.
- 1:35:09But you know, even if it's not, even if 20/20 isn't my year, I'm
- 1:35:14going to, you know, try again, next year.
- 1:35:17I want to try and lose them and things like that and it's
- 1:35:19experiences. Well, I even even if the day
- 1:35:22after that, I just I just quit. Like, I'll be able to say, like
- 1:35:26I went to this, you know, this event, I met this certain
- 1:35:30person. So, yeah, that's something that
- 1:35:33I wanted to sort of share on. I wanted to make sure I said it
- 1:35:37when someone else was there. Just so if you have any
- 1:35:39questions or maybe I missed something, but I just want to.
- 1:35:44Yeah, I just I'm going to sort of be and that's what to do.
- 1:35:47Jiu Jitsu thing was about is I want to sort of start
- 1:35:50documenting my journey where I'm going and stuff and the people.
- 1:35:54I'm meeting everything and sort of add that sort of conversation
- 1:35:58conversation into my story. Hmm.
- 1:36:01To hopefully help other people and help myself.
- 1:36:04And yeah, so that's one thing I'm working towards also, I've
- 1:36:10had some talks with my teacher my master about because he's
- 1:36:15not, he's not old but he's, you know, he's get he's getting on a
- 1:36:18little bit and he laughs about that and stuff and says, a
- 1:36:20whole, I'm too old for this and stuff, you know, it's a bit of
- 1:36:23The Karate Kid and mr. Miyagi, you know I'm saying so
- 1:36:27he says, oh, you know, I'm not going to be, I'm not gonna be
- 1:36:31here. Forever.
- 1:36:33So, like I need someone to leave this this sort of Dojo to well
- 1:36:38when I'm gonna Apprentice. So yeah, he basically just said
- 1:36:44now that I'm sort of taking it more, seriously, I'm sort of,
- 1:36:48I've helped, I've helped with some sort of warm-ups, of some
- 1:36:51of the lower grades and stuff and he sort of seeing my
- 1:36:54progress. He's basically offered to sort
- 1:36:56of Teach Me How To Train people, sort of have more of a teacher,
- 1:37:01Enroll within it, and that will take, that will take away the
- 1:37:04cost of, like me having to pay to, you know, pay to train.
- 1:37:10Because I'll be technically an employee kind of like, well,
- 1:37:14obviously working for free, but, but obviously, learned be
- 1:37:18genetic a food chain in. Yes.
- 1:37:20Yeah. Like so, yeah.
- 1:37:22So that's something that I'm sort of doing, as well.
- 1:37:25So, I've been sort of shooting a few, so you thinking, like,
- 1:37:30maybe that Could become like a fully full construct.
- 1:37:35Maybe like this could be like a money spinner on the side for
- 1:37:37you or potentially even the main money interest in the future is
- 1:37:41that consider. Exactly.
- 1:37:43Okay. And that and that, that brings
- 1:37:46us full circle to keeping every single door open that you
- 1:37:49possibly can. Right?
- 1:37:51You know. That's it's about making.
- 1:37:54Every opportunity you possibly can whether it's, you know,
- 1:37:59keeping in contact with sneaker people.
- 1:38:01Or you know making sure your taekwondo Master likes you that
- 1:38:04little bit more like is about. It's about keeping every single
- 1:38:08option open to you but it's yeah, no it's definitely Eva
- 1:38:14could be on the side thing, the particular teacher.
- 1:38:18Who said this to me he has hundreds of students so he's
- 1:38:23very successful. I'd be you know, lucky to even
- 1:38:26get that experience of helping him sort of sort of develop
- 1:38:31Class and everything. But obviously I've got a lot of,
- 1:38:34I've got a long way to go, you know, things and Depends
- 1:38:38obviously depends what happens at this an Olympic team, GB sort
- 1:38:41of day or, you know, you know, life gets in the way but this
- 1:38:48week, actually, I've got an upcoming.
- 1:38:50It's basically a grade in like, a Belgrade in for some of the
- 1:38:54younger lower grade students. So I'm going along to that even
- 1:39:00though I don't have to Ooh, I'm gonna have the microphone.
- 1:39:03Yeah, I'm going to say, Reddit position, ready front kick and
- 1:39:08then, you know, give the command and say, you know, say certain
- 1:39:12things in Korean and tell him know how and stuff.
- 1:39:16So, it's just about getting that little bit of experience again,
- 1:39:19and it could go, it could go incredibly well or it could, you
- 1:39:22know, just be a little hobby on the side but it's just a few
- 1:39:27extra little things that because I said, I like to be busy but To
- 1:39:31keep everyone updated on how certain things go.
- 1:39:34So it should be good. Yeah, I know.
- 1:39:37I mean that sounds amazing. Like I'm really hit glad to hear
- 1:39:41that and I'm particularly glad the like how it's affected your
- 1:39:45your mindset positively. I think that's probably the
- 1:39:48biggest takeaway here is exciting.
- 1:39:50Like you know to hear all of this.
- 1:39:52Like I'm really I really really hope you do well and hopefully
- 1:39:55get maybe going to team me and you never know, you never know.
- 1:39:59Hopefully that's the dream but obviously anywhere even coming
- 1:40:03that that's 100% even coming to like 70. 50% even.
- 1:40:08Yeah, you know being better than you were the day before.
- 1:40:10Like it's it's important just to keep aiming for something that's
- 1:40:15so Out Of Reach This impossible and then Landing halfway up the
- 1:40:18hill. You've still done an amazing
- 1:40:20job. So I'm just going to try my
- 1:40:22best. Basically.
- 1:40:24Yeah, I agree with with that and particularly like, you know,
- 1:40:28what you were saying about like, keeping all the doors open and
- 1:40:31trying different things. Like I've done the same thing in
- 1:40:33this past year, particularly in lockdown, it's Kind of thought.
- 1:40:37Well I've got all this time to like try different things and
- 1:40:40I'm doing all these things that I never would have done before.
- 1:40:43And they're not all like not all of them are tied to YouTube.
- 1:40:46Some of them have nothing to do with YouTube, and I think it's
- 1:40:49important, you know, to always kind of a make yourself as
- 1:40:54employable as possible you know, in all different areas, you
- 1:40:57know, like what can I do as a human, you know, how can I be
- 1:41:00more valuable or whatever monetized, my interests or
- 1:41:04whatever, you know, that's one element of it.
- 1:41:06But The bigger more important thing is what you kind of said
- 1:41:10about pushing yourself, like what can I achieve?
- 1:41:12What's, you know, particularly with Fitness as well like
- 1:41:15recently, I've kind of let my fitness, go a little bit like
- 1:41:17I've been doing intensive but basketball training but it's
- 1:41:22that got to that point where it's like, okay, it's too cold
- 1:41:24to do basketball. Now it's time to hit it hard
- 1:41:28again and I know what's involved with that because I've done it
- 1:41:31before and it's both a mentor and a physical thing but one
- 1:41:36Thing II recognize straight away from what you said and I've
- 1:41:39definitely felt this before. Is that kind of always pushing
- 1:41:42yourself and wanting to go harder and harder and harder.
- 1:41:45And, you know, the difference between physical and mental is
- 1:41:51very interesting because sometimes it's like physically,
- 1:41:54you might feel like you can't keep going.
- 1:41:56But like mentally, sometimes you just kind of feel like, no, I
- 1:42:00got to keep going. I can keep going.
- 1:42:03I've got like a little bit more left in the tank and, you know,
- 1:42:06Obviously like it's all about consistency over time as well.
- 1:42:09Like, I don't know if you're doing say cardio and like,
- 1:42:13normally you do 20 minutes and you know, you want to push it to
- 1:42:1625 and you feel like if you go past 20, just your legs die.
- 1:42:21But it's like if I can just push it that little bit more get that
- 1:42:24little bit more out of myself and like who knows what I can
- 1:42:27achieve next kind of deal like it's a just a positive mindset
- 1:42:31over. What I think is really awesome
- 1:42:34that you have that and I totally I can relate to that as well as
- 1:42:39ready cliff in the. It's all about really pushing to
- 1:42:43see what you can do. I'll say.
- 1:42:45And it's it's interesting that we keep sort of going back to
- 1:42:49this, but in that, in the, in the post, you know, tcj sort of
- 1:42:54time in sort of, you know, time of the year and stuff this year.
- 1:43:00It's been a lot of things, a lot of different people, I guess.
- 1:43:03But no, in that time I sort of Adopted, the mindset of doing,
- 1:43:09what, exactly what you don't want to do in terms of, like
- 1:43:13Fitness and stuff. I went on my regular run And
- 1:43:18then I thought, you know what? I really couldn't do that again
- 1:43:24and I thought, well, I guess I'm going on my run again.
- 1:43:27So I did the whole thing again. Just, what I've been doing,
- 1:43:32would you mean like when you said that?
- 1:43:34Well, I feel like I'm like, at the start or, you know, I was
- 1:43:38on. I was on autopilot, like, my
- 1:43:40life. I'd just been doing my same run
- 1:43:43everyday or my same, you know, way routine and stuff.
- 1:43:46And then, When I got home from my run, I done my circuit.
- 1:43:50You know, I've been up the hill and back down again and then I
- 1:43:54stood there and I thought, well, you know, I've I've done exactly
- 1:44:00what I do every day. I don't think I could do that
- 1:44:03again. And then I went out straight
- 1:44:06away and I proved to myself that I could do it again, and that's
- 1:44:09what I've been doing. wow, that now that does take a lot of like
- 1:44:13strength of mind, like I've been there myself where I there were
- 1:44:18times when I was in the gym where I thought I was going to
- 1:44:20pass out like I just and there's no one there to protect you,
- 1:44:24you're responsible for yourself and it's like, But yeah I think
- 1:44:29it's is it is so much more isn't it than just the physical side
- 1:44:33of things or even trying to like set yourself goals.
- 1:44:36It's like, if you know, it within yourself that you can do
- 1:44:40it, you just want to kind of Just say like, what if and just
- 1:44:47push yourself past that bar, you know, do they do the impossible?
- 1:44:50It's much more mental thing than is a physical thing.
- 1:44:54Most of the time. Like the biggest fight is always
- 1:44:57to start the exercise or to carry on or what once you get
- 1:45:01that little, you know, voice in your head saying, you know,
- 1:45:05we've been, we've been around this field five times already
- 1:45:09The Gates, Right? Their homes literally right
- 1:45:11outside this this field. Let's go.
- 1:45:14I was this one time I did, I did 10 kilometers off, I ran around
- 1:45:19the same field for 10 km. I just, I just did it because I
- 1:45:23was like, I was I was just like, yeah, no.
- 1:45:26I was just thinking like my legs hurt like, yesterday, not listen
- 1:45:31to me. Like, I'm a I want, I want
- 1:45:33people to take something away from this, like it's that don't
- 1:45:36listen to it as if I'm talking about myself, just put yourself
- 1:45:40into this position and just try yourself.
- 1:45:44Like my legs hurt that from the day before?
- 1:45:47I did what? I promised myself.
- 1:45:50I'd do contain K. I run around the same field,
- 1:45:52like I got to the end. I finished my 10K, I stood at
- 1:45:57the gate and I thought like I could I could just walk through
- 1:46:00this gate right now and do exactly what I said I was going
- 1:46:03to do. and I actually went to the gate and then I just turn
- 1:46:07around and didn't and did another km around the field like
- 1:46:11just Like doing what exactly, what you don't want to do,
- 1:46:16learning to feel like pain learning to, you know, what?
- 1:46:22When you're at your tightest, that's when you realize who you
- 1:46:25really are. That's what I'm trying to say.
- 1:46:28Like you, then you understand like I'm you know, I'm Jeff go
- 1:46:34and I can run 11 km like before I made before I was at that gate
- 1:46:39and I made that decision to go again.
- 1:46:41I was only joking. So he could run 10 kilometers.
- 1:46:45That's all I was chance. And It's about making different
- 1:46:52habits, you know I'm saying. Like it's just in and it
- 1:46:56translates into your own life as well.
- 1:46:58Like, you could easily just got you could easily just get up and
- 1:47:01and play Xbox and do the same thing you do every day, or you
- 1:47:05could try and teach yourself something, you know.
- 1:47:08And that's one thing. I've seen, like, a lot of people
- 1:47:10my age, like, they always, you know, they think that it's
- 1:47:17enough to look like you're having Fun or like to look like
- 1:47:21your call. Look like you have some certain
- 1:47:24things and I know that's rich coming from a guy who talks
- 1:47:27about sneakers and stuff. Surely that's the most, you
- 1:47:30know, materialistic person, there is.
- 1:47:32But you know, there's been certain people that I've met
- 1:47:36recently who have shown me like you can push yourself to do a
- 1:47:42lot. You don't need to just, you
- 1:47:44don't need to just limit yourself to what people say that
- 1:47:48you can do. And stuff.
- 1:47:50Yeah, yeah. Some people said like, don't
- 1:47:54like, you can't do to martial arts at once.
- 1:47:55If I'm doing it by, look at me, I'm doing it.
- 1:47:58Like, I've taught myself how to trade stocks, like I'm doing it
- 1:48:02right now, I've got a full-time job like what?
- 1:48:05Like you telling me, I don't have enough time to do it.
- 1:48:07Like I'm doing it, that's it. Like I can't you can't survive
- 1:48:13standing still, you need to always be moving forward.
- 1:48:17That's it, you're touching on those so many.
- 1:48:19Home points here. Like I feel just as want to pick
- 1:48:22your brains about this because it's brilliant start and I agree
- 1:48:25with all of it. Like what you said about sort of
- 1:48:27disturbing your routine, I do the same thing.
- 1:48:30You know, I was one day that like I kind of woke up and I was
- 1:48:34like, I can't just every morning.
- 1:48:36Wake up, turn the computer on, have my coffee, like that, can't
- 1:48:39just be my morning every morning.
- 1:48:41So then I just stopped doing that sometimes.
- 1:48:43And sometimes I just wake up, have coffee, kind of sit and
- 1:48:47rest. You know, take it all in and
- 1:48:50then like, writing a diary, like I started a diary things like
- 1:48:54that or, you know, just trying other things like I signed up
- 1:48:57for volunteering, which I'm going to do tomorrow.
- 1:49:01Actually, I've just, I've never done volunteering before and I'm
- 1:49:05kind of excited about it because it's obviously it's like a feel
- 1:49:08good thing. It's like helping people and
- 1:49:10stuff, but, you know, I also kind of just want to learn and,
- 1:49:13you know, challenge myself and all the things that you touched
- 1:49:16on before, you know, and yeah, like again with what you were
- 1:49:22saying, you know, just about in general, just just challenging,
- 1:49:28what people's expectations of you aren't that?
- 1:49:31Like I don't know when I changed my mindset, but like I kind of
- 1:49:36just have this mindset now of like you just do what you want,
- 1:49:42you know what I mean? Like, you just if if you want to
- 1:49:43do something, just do it and like, 100% agree with you Ryan,
- 1:49:48but I like Pinnacle working size as well but like Christian died
- 1:49:52and you do this brilliantly but just keep trying like key.
- 1:49:57Trying new things. Keep like building on yourself,
- 1:50:00like you're doing a great job. You're one of the only people
- 1:50:02who like, I know, like you don't give a fuck like so.
- 1:50:08And it's not even about that. Like, you're actively, like,
- 1:50:13trying to do something that like, not a lot of people can do
- 1:50:16like, it's a difficult thing. And sometimes like, you say, oh,
- 1:50:21I'm I'm losing subscriber, or you know, what do you want?
- 1:50:27Nice work about on the podcast and stuff and I'm not saying
- 1:50:30like it can I just stop you don't let it get to you.
- 1:50:32No, no, listen, listen, listen, listen, I don't you don't let it
- 1:50:34get to you but your I just want to say like you're doing a great
- 1:50:37job with everything you're doing.
- 1:50:39I'm not sinking on you. I know you understood that is
- 1:50:41fucking a while but I'm just saying like you're doing a good
- 1:50:44job. No, I'm some reason, the reason
- 1:50:47I say that the reason I wanted to say something back to is that
- 1:50:50because I know in the past, you're 100%, right?
- 1:50:53Like I've complained, I've said this, I've said that You know,
- 1:50:57you put it out to me and it took me a long time to like actually
- 1:51:00take on board and like take it in.
- 1:51:02But recently with the things like, for instance, asking
- 1:51:05people, that would you want to hear about?
- 1:51:07That's genuinely me just saying like, hey what what do people
- 1:51:11want to hear? And I quickly learned after not
- 1:51:14getting some responses that it's just, we're not quite at that
- 1:51:17level yet and I didn't take it bad.
- 1:51:19Like, I would like if this was six months ago, I would have
- 1:51:22taken it badly. I would have been that harsh.
- 1:51:23But now I'm like, okay, you know, we Move.
- 1:51:27We keep trying, we keep doing things.
- 1:51:28Exactly. And you're and you know, you're
- 1:51:31a better person now because you made that mistake in the past,
- 1:51:34you know, I mean, you've been so you've improved on your, you've
- 1:51:37improved unlike your mindset towards that.
- 1:51:39Like the situation might not be any different, obviously,
- 1:51:43sometimes you don't get a suggestion or you don't
- 1:51:46something doesn't go as well. As you expected it to like,
- 1:51:48nothing has like we've both progress, but some things just
- 1:51:53haven't changed, but it's just the way you thought about it is
- 1:51:56turned almost Time. Yeah.
- 1:51:58Into a positive out of the negative, really?
- 1:52:00Absolutely. I couldn't agree more.
- 1:52:02Like I think your thing that you always try to bang into my head,
- 1:52:05and this is the last thing, I'll say about me, by the way,
- 1:52:07because we're bringing this back to you because it's about you,
- 1:52:11is that like you always said, like, don't focus on the
- 1:52:14numbers, you know, you focus on the comments that you've always
- 1:52:17said about your mentality with YouTube.
- 1:52:19Is I care about comments, I care about who's saying, what I like
- 1:52:24to reply to them and I have that same.
- 1:52:27Amount mindset. Now, I don't focus on the
- 1:52:28numbers anymore. I'm looking at what people
- 1:52:31saying who's returning who keeps replying you know, when those
- 1:52:36people are applying what are they saying?
- 1:52:38You know, trying to maintain relations with them trying to
- 1:52:41gauge what they think and stuff and ultimately just see if
- 1:52:44they're enjoying it. But like, I don't on the flip
- 1:52:49side of that, I don't worry either.
- 1:52:50Like I've had some like, some funny, like I just take it in my
- 1:52:54stride there. Like I've had some hate comments
- 1:52:56which had kind of I need to be honest and but I take them
- 1:52:59seriously, though. There's some people that have
- 1:53:00said, I think I had one podcast where they said, like, oh this
- 1:53:04guy shut the up, you know, like let the person speak and I sat
- 1:53:09down I was like, hard, was it like that, you know, I had to go
- 1:53:13back and like, listen to, but it was important.
- 1:53:15It was like a even though it wasn't, you know, in a
- 1:53:18constructive manner. There was still something in
- 1:53:20there that was useful and I think that that's the trouble, a
- 1:53:24lot of people don't focus on that.
- 1:53:26Well, what can I get? Gain from this at.
- 1:53:27What can I learn from this? What can I do differently?
- 1:53:30What what can, how can I better myself?
- 1:53:33And what I do that's where the mentality has to be.
- 1:53:37But as you said, you have to make mistakes to get there and
- 1:53:39you you've got to develop a positive attitude.
- 1:53:42I think and a lot of people are afraid to put the work in as
- 1:53:46well. Like like when I saw like how
- 1:53:48much work goes into for instance, doing the podcast.
- 1:53:51Yeah, I'm not going to lie in the beginning, I got a bit lazy
- 1:53:53that, you know, for instance, I knew that I would need to Clips
- 1:53:57and I should have done that from the beginning, but I was like
- 1:54:02kind of can't be bothered and then I realized that look for,
- 1:54:04don't do it. If I'm not prepared to put in
- 1:54:07the effort then why am I doing this?
- 1:54:10And then it changes. So it's yeah, I agree with what
- 1:54:14you said like completely. But anyway let's bring it back
- 1:54:18to you. What are your sources, main
- 1:54:21sources of inspiration or sorry, who were your main sources of
- 1:54:24inspiration? Like Eva in the Sneaker
- 1:54:27Community or just YouTubers in general.
- 1:54:30Like, who are you looking at and saying, okay, this guy that girl
- 1:54:34whoever is, you know, inspired me to do what I do.
- 1:54:39Okay, wow, that's a difficult question.
- 1:54:43First off, I think with anything, it's important to sort
- 1:54:47of take lots of different things from a lot of different people,
- 1:54:52rather than just imitate or even just The way you live your life,
- 1:54:57like don't listen to just one person, look at the wider
- 1:55:01picture and then make up your own mind for yourself.
- 1:55:04Put your positive spin on it, but your personal spin on it and
- 1:55:07then see where it goes from there.
- 1:55:09So, just from, like a sneaker point of view, I'd say my
- 1:55:13inspiration has probably changed a lot.
- 1:55:16Like first off, it was a lot of just like basic, you know,
- 1:55:19sneaker YouTubers and, and just some people that, you know, said
- 1:55:23this is what's coming out now and stuff.
- 1:55:25But now, I don't really watch that kind of stuff anymore.
- 1:55:31Like, I don't really, they're not there.
- 1:55:34It's not really what I look at. How and look.
- 1:55:37I've got, I've got you to buy from right now.
- 1:55:38Let me see what's on my YouTube. I was this.
- 1:55:40I'm struggling with this, man. I'm struggling with this sorry.
- 1:55:43No, it's fine. Take your time.
- 1:55:44It's cool. It's a lot of podcasts.
- 1:55:46Be honest. Like, I don't know.
- 1:55:50Yes, a lot of podcasts I don't. Yeah, I don't watch much YouTube
- 1:55:54to be honest, I would say like Joe Rogan obviously hmm.
- 1:56:00Yeah. And also this guy just just for
- 1:56:04like a basic sort of Lifestyle. Sort of inspiration, I would say
- 1:56:09this guy called David Goggins. Have you heard of David?
- 1:56:11Guardians have no write that down.
- 1:56:14David Gorgons David gogans. Look up.
- 1:56:17This guy. He is crazy.
- 1:56:19A he is crazy. If there's anyone that you want
- 1:56:22to sort of have, you know, a conversation with this this guy
- 1:56:26David Goggins. He, he's been on Joe Rogan, he's
- 1:56:29ready? He's written some books and
- 1:56:30stuff. He is, his story is that he
- 1:56:34started off, you know, really lazy really?
- 1:56:36He was very overweight and stuff and he ended up being in the
- 1:56:41Navy Seals I believe or some kind of position like that he
- 1:56:44was, you know, extreme training. He he's you know Not even a
- 1:56:49fitness freak but he's a lifestyle freak, like he's all
- 1:56:52about the mental, he's all about, you know, pushing
- 1:56:54yourself and stuff. And if you look at some of his
- 1:56:57stuff, you'll probably hear a lot of things.
- 1:57:01I've subconsciously just sort of, you know, picked up and said
- 1:57:05to you like is it? You know, it's contagious like
- 1:57:08this guy's energy and everything so definitely him, who else?
- 1:57:16I'll swab respects we talking about so yeah I don't think to
- 1:57:20be honest. There's no lit.
- 1:57:21I mean anything that just drives you as a person or any, sorry,
- 1:57:25anyone that drives you and what you do, you know?
- 1:57:29Mmm. Yeah.
- 1:57:32Well, I mean, just from sort of luck.
- 1:57:33A, come on, let's get this guy in.
- 1:57:36Like, see, it's a seeing you like, how much you do?
- 1:57:40I've, I'm obviously in your Discord and every like few hours
- 1:57:44I'm getting like an at everyone. He's, I'm Sky again, boys.
- 1:57:48He's done it. No, no, I'm done.
- 1:57:50I'm saying like that. That's like a, that's, that's
- 1:57:54inspiration. Like, okay, you know, if I'm
- 1:57:58just chilling there, I should be doing something and I see that
- 1:58:00pop up. I'm like, whoa.
- 1:58:02Competition. Right, the competition, he's
- 1:58:05moving. You know, you know I'm saying
- 1:58:07like So again just that like the you're worth it, work ethic,
- 1:58:13especially and like when I saw them drop in on some of the
- 1:58:18stuff that you do and everything.
- 1:58:19Like, you know, I really like the stuff that you've been doing
- 1:58:23with deals. I like I said to you as well,
- 1:58:25I'm I'm happy that he's got the young little kid shut up.
- 1:58:29You don't know anything treatment now, you know, I was
- 1:58:32joking, right? I've known of course.
- 1:58:35Yeah. All right.
- 1:58:38It's good. Yeah, that was the only reason I
- 1:58:42got away with that and tcj was because because Aaron was a lot
- 1:58:45older than me is where not a lot older, but he was I think he was
- 1:58:47like early 30s or something and I'm 27 or something.
- 1:58:51So it's like could get way of calling you the child even
- 1:58:55though technically. Yeah, you know, but whatever.
- 1:58:59Answer this question really badly, I feel like I've missed
- 1:59:02Miss some people, something I miss something really obvious.
- 1:59:05I mean the general gist of what I, what I'm gathering from what
- 1:59:08you Saying is that like you've kind of changed the type of
- 1:59:12content that you consume and that's obviously changed like,
- 1:59:18excuse me, like your influences and who you're inspired by.
- 1:59:21So it makes perfect sense of it. Like I've got plenty of stuff
- 1:59:25that I subscribe to as well. Like I did the same thing, I
- 1:59:29unsubscribe from a bunch of stuff.
- 1:59:31There are still things. I love to consume my own sidemen
- 1:59:35or something like that, you know?
- 1:59:36But I Could that is, like, just entertainment and light.
- 1:59:41It's not. It doesn't like.
- 1:59:42Give me anything like, maybe now.
- 1:59:44And again, they'll be something. They do that.
- 1:59:46My are cool. Like, when I saw them all
- 1:59:48playing like, Among Us for instance, I was like, I'll call
- 1:59:50I'll play that. Like, actually looks like fun,
- 1:59:53but other than that, it doesn't give you anything necessarily.
- 1:59:58That's like you can use and be like, to better yourself.
- 2:00:02Whereas the people you're talking about like, this, David
- 2:00:05Goggins guy, like they're inspiring people who've.
- 2:00:08Sort of taken their life from from one situation and kind of
- 2:00:12pushed themselves to a to a more positive position.
- 2:00:15And a lot of I've been looking at the similar people as well
- 2:00:18and it's fine if you don't have like have names like it for me.
- 2:00:22It's when I ask questions like that it's more to just gauge the
- 2:00:26person's mind, set of like what inspires them, you know.
- 2:00:30Because a lot of the time when you ask someone like who their
- 2:00:32Inspirations are, you know, it's like you said you never basing
- 2:00:37everything you do. Like you don't want to just copy
- 2:00:40with someone else. The ultimately you want to like
- 2:00:43yeah get some stuff that inspires you and then you find
- 2:00:47your own, you know, things like for instance, me obviously, when
- 2:00:52I started this, you know, I thought of Joe Rogan, I like his
- 2:00:55format. I also thought of this guy, you
- 2:00:58know, SOB Powers. Remember that guy?
- 2:01:01The comedian guy? Yeah.
- 2:01:03Yeah. So he started doing a comedy or
- 2:01:06he's comedian. Sorry.
- 2:01:08And here, The me start decided to just do a podcast on his
- 2:01:12YouTube and he invited me one time, but then he continued it
- 2:01:15and he's still going with it and I just really liked the format
- 2:01:19of what he was doing. And I thought I maybe I can do
- 2:01:22this. Obviously, I'll do my own spin
- 2:01:25on it, I'll do it my way. And then I realized like,
- 2:01:27actually what I do is very different from what he does, but
- 2:01:31like it the point is it was like a starting point.
- 2:01:34It was like, okay, I want to be like these guys, but I want to
- 2:01:37do it like my way. Way, and it sounds like that's
- 2:01:40kind of what you're doing as well.
- 2:01:42It's like, you're saying, okay inspired by this, but then I'm
- 2:01:46doing it. The child is Jaco way kind of
- 2:01:48thing. Yeah, yeah, no, yeah.
- 2:01:51You definitely summed up. Great by saying, sort of like
- 2:01:54the, some things are just for entertainment and then some sort
- 2:01:58of genuine Inspirations to you. Yeah.
- 2:02:01With the David Goggins guard say more like is not so much a
- 2:02:04content creator, but just his story sort of Pearl all things
- 2:02:09into perspective for me and stuff and probably push me to
- 2:02:12try a little bit more on the Taekwondo and everything and
- 2:02:15opened up a few more doors for me.
- 2:02:17But for me there, but yeah, in terms of content, just just
- 2:02:21watch a bunch of people. Basically.
- 2:02:22And then sort of, I wouldn't say there's one that really
- 2:02:27influences exactly what, you know, I didn't look at someone
- 2:02:30and say I'm going to do my version of that.
- 2:02:32It was more of just a, I've started it, you know what, a
- 2:02:36year and a half ago now, And it's sort of just developed from
- 2:02:40there. And I think, from what I can
- 2:02:42see, I think most of stuff I do is quite unique.
- 2:02:47I can't really think of many people are like doing stuff like
- 2:02:52me. I'd say.
- 2:02:52So I've never seen anyone do the stuff that you do and I'm not
- 2:02:55trying to kiss your ass. That like genuinely, I think
- 2:02:58it's very unique when I think of like originally when I first
- 2:03:02heard of like sneakerheads to me it was just like a flex thing.
- 2:03:06Like if I'm being honest Thus. Yeah.
- 2:03:09And I honestly, never had any interest in doing right.
- 2:03:12Right. Right.
- 2:03:12But that's the thing. When I came across your channel.
- 2:03:15Like when we first met and you sent me your channel on my
- 2:03:18always, you going to be like one of those guys, right?
- 2:03:20But then I start watching the videos and I realized that you
- 2:03:23weren't like that at all. And it was interesting and I
- 2:03:26learned a lot from the way that you do your videos, I couldn't a
- 2:03:30very informative and they kind of give you a good understanding
- 2:03:35that even if you know next to nothing about trainers.
- 2:03:38Which is where I was. When I started watching your
- 2:03:41videos, I learnt through you. And you know, I think that's
- 2:03:44really good thing about your videos is they like educational,
- 2:03:48but they're, you know, you never liked, you give your opinion you
- 2:03:53don't like. And but you you're not afraid to
- 2:03:55like it's cool something trash or something and then like, you
- 2:03:59know, kind of you just, I don't know.
- 2:04:02I think it's fun. I think it's interesting and
- 2:04:05this kind of leads me. It was gone.
- 2:04:07Sorry. I was just going to say, I
- 2:04:09always make sure of alienate anyone.
- 2:04:12So yeah, if I am sort of like going in on something, I don't
- 2:04:16like I always even if it's in a joking way.
- 2:04:18I say, you know, all the power to you, if you like this, you
- 2:04:22know, that's great. You go over there in the corner
- 2:04:25and have fun, but I'm going to say, well, I don't like this.
- 2:04:27So I never say like, I never personally attack, anyone say
- 2:04:31You are stupid if you don't if you like this product or
- 2:04:34whatever but also another few things I just thought of just
- 2:04:36there. Said about how you sort of Saw
- 2:04:41and you thought I was this guy just going to flex or is he like
- 2:04:43what sort of guys this guy? And obviously, that's that's
- 2:04:46great. That you sort of had that
- 2:04:49thought process and we're assessing whether I was someone
- 2:04:52to sort of contact or whatever but I'd say in terms of like
- 2:04:59branding and standing out I'll say one thing that's helped me
- 2:05:02is obviously being from the UK. It's Unique to do that sort of
- 2:05:08do this and be in the UK. And another thing is one bit
- 2:05:11feedback, positive feedback. I would say I've got from a lot
- 2:05:16of P people of different people is just having an actual like
- 2:05:22they can tell that there's an actual passion for what I'm
- 2:05:24talking about rather than just doing it because I want to look
- 2:05:27cool because I'm making money off it or something.
- 2:05:30So, I would definitely just not not, not making it about me, but
- 2:05:35just saying to anyone that's listening like to learn from
- 2:05:38that find something that makes you unique, whether it's, you
- 2:05:42know, your location, your certain point of view and stuff.
- 2:05:45And then, also, make sure that what you are talking about is
- 2:05:48something that you really love because people can tell and that
- 2:05:51wasn't even an intention of mine to make it seem that way.
- 2:05:54I wasn't like, actively saying I love this.
- 2:05:57I love this. Like the guys just knew that,
- 2:06:00that was what was up. So, So, definitely a couple of
- 2:06:03things to keep in mind, like, when you're sort of starting
- 2:06:07stuff like this, I'd say just to left field question here because
- 2:06:12we were talking about podcasting earlier.
- 2:06:15Do you think you would ever get back into podcasting?
- 2:06:17And like, if so, would you consider doing, you know, like a
- 2:06:21sneaker podcast or something like that?
- 2:06:23Where you, where you talk? Because I remember one of the
- 2:06:26things that you said, obviously I'm reiterating whoop said
- 2:06:30before, Was that you wanted to focus on, you know, your staff,
- 2:06:34your Niche. That's where your mind is always
- 2:06:36at is doing this but you're not afraid to try different things
- 2:06:40and you are and we'll get into some of the newer things you've
- 2:06:42been doing recently, but I just, I was just curious about this
- 2:06:46podcast and thing because I think that you definitely have a
- 2:06:48talent for that, you know, even before we were doing podcast
- 2:06:51together, you reached out to me one time and we did like a
- 2:06:54little mini podcast style thing if you remember.
- 2:06:57Yeah, you know, so it's there, it's like something.
- 2:07:01In your mind and I'm just wondering, like, have you never
- 2:07:03considered that for sneakers? Or is that something you would
- 2:07:06do? Or is that even in on your list
- 2:07:10of like maybe he's or what's the Builder?
- 2:07:15I in terms of what I actually consume like the content I can
- 2:07:19assume I'd say it is mostly a mostly made up of podcasts so
- 2:07:25it's definitely something that I'd always be open to sort of
- 2:07:28getting back into bar. I just feel like, I don't know
- 2:07:33if this translates like Christian, like man-to-man right
- 2:07:36now. Like a is, am I doing a good
- 2:07:38job? Because of course, when I don't
- 2:07:41remember anything, I've said today, like it's obviously all
- 2:07:44been, but it's been fully truthful, truthful and stuff.
- 2:07:48And you know, I've tried my best to stay on track but I feel like
- 2:07:51I'm all over the place. I don't think that like this is
- 2:07:54something I can do. Sure you can do, I mean, you
- 2:07:58said it best earlier. When you Saying like, you know,
- 2:08:02like just going for things, just challenging yourself and stuff
- 2:08:05like that. You can do anything.
- 2:08:07Like, I know it's a cliche to say as much but it is the
- 2:08:11reality. If you want to do something,
- 2:08:13you'll do it and you'll find a way to do it and you'll do it
- 2:08:15your way. So it's time, I did a good job,
- 2:08:18am I doing a good job? Absolutely.
- 2:08:19Yes, I just have been faster. I'll consider them now.
- 2:08:24Yeah, so yeah, the answer to your question is yes.
- 2:08:27Obviously I would. Yeah, that's obviously something
- 2:08:30that I'm I'd be open to whether it was be about sneakers or not.
- 2:08:34I'm not too sure. Like, okay, obviously, with the
- 2:08:40Jiu-Jitsu sort of, you know, discussion I had the 20 Minute
- 2:08:47Podcast kind of thing. Yeah.
- 2:08:49Would that be something that I'd be more interested in doing may
- 2:08:52be okay? It just depends where it just
- 2:08:55depends sort of where, you know, my life takes me and stuff.
- 2:08:58I'm going what my interests are cut.
- 2:09:00I don't While I do like sneakers, like I don't think I
- 2:09:05could talk like on a regular basis for hours about like the
- 2:09:10sneakers that are upcoming because then I feel like I'd
- 2:09:12fall into the Trap of what I said.
- 2:09:15Obviously, I didn't want to do which is like just being a robot
- 2:09:18and you know, saying this Jordan is coming out there here and
- 2:09:21stuff like this. Like I'd feel like I would fall
- 2:09:24into that trap, where it's like, if I keep that kind of stuff
- 2:09:28too, like a shorter sort of format with With why I normally
- 2:09:32do, I feel like within that, I can be more creative with, like,
- 2:09:36how I say it, like, always. I'm done.
- 2:09:40Sometimes, I'm standing up on this chair.
- 2:09:41Sometimes. I'm, you know, running around
- 2:09:43and playing a little character, or do you know?
- 2:09:45Like, I want to make that sort of aspect is fine as possible,
- 2:09:49but yeah, when it comes like a sort of longer stuff, probably
- 2:09:56more to do with like yeah maybe martial arts or something or
- 2:10:00Fitness like five. I'm planning on having a
- 2:10:04conversation. Like we are right now because my
- 2:10:08one of my friends I have a friend that's currently doing
- 2:10:11MMA but he's currently, he's got any charity charity match coming
- 2:10:16up or something next year. So I'm thinking of having sort
- 2:10:20of like a conversation with him that will obviously be like a
- 2:10:23longer sort of format so that that will maybe open up a door.
- 2:10:29Also another friend, that's starting MMA, which I want to
- 2:10:33talk to you about that as well. So I know that the door's always
- 2:10:37open I've thought Many times about asking, like, do you and
- 2:10:42Aaron want to do like a little reunions or something?
- 2:10:45One day. I think that would be quite
- 2:10:46cool. I would always be open to that,
- 2:10:49by the way. I think.
- 2:10:50Because the one that calls are just on a side note about that.
- 2:10:53I loved about tcj was that it was all real, just genuine
- 2:10:58chemistry and that's why I love doing it and why I was so bummed
- 2:11:02when it ended because it's so hard to find that kind of
- 2:11:05chemistry with people. I find because you can't force
- 2:11:09Like even you just have chemistry with someone or group
- 2:11:12of people or you don't. And if you own yeah socks.
- 2:11:16You can't make it good. It just sucks.
- 2:11:19So yeah. I definitely have.
- 2:11:20Yeah, yeah. Anyway, in terms of like,
- 2:11:23starting something on a weekly basis, I would probably say no
- 2:11:26at the moment but I'm definitely going to like look into sort of
- 2:11:31doing longer form. Sort of, you know like you saw
- 2:11:35today obviously with with those other people that That I sort of
- 2:11:40I'm in contact with as well. I feel like I could have some,
- 2:11:43you know, useful conversations with myself and with other
- 2:11:47people. So when I feel like that is
- 2:11:49necessary, I will do it, but it's definitely not something
- 2:11:52that I'm gonna like do on a very regular basis, regular very
- 2:11:57regular basis. So yeah, with the reason I had
- 2:12:00this question initially was because you very recently within
- 2:12:04the last week or so released this video of sneaker cooking
- 2:12:08show. You totally like first-ever
- 2:12:11sneaker cooking show and I was like, okay, I'm interested in
- 2:12:15this, what's he done here and it was really cool.
- 2:12:17I loved it because there were so many things like one.
- 2:12:19I mean, one thing we haven't talked about Ashley is the fact
- 2:12:22that you're excellent at editing, which was one of the
- 2:12:24reasons why you were like the Invincible editor for our
- 2:12:27podcast, which because you're just so sick at that.
- 2:12:29And like many of you earlier videos, like had a lot of that,
- 2:12:32like, Opie kind of editing stuff.
- 2:12:35And I always just that that to me was such a big Positive about
- 2:12:41your videos, right? And Les makes sense.
- 2:12:43Now, because you said that, you know, obviously you have this
- 2:12:46interest in it and it stems from like many years ago is that so
- 2:12:49that kind of will make sense to me now.
- 2:12:51But when you did this show, it had like different camera angles
- 2:12:55and stuff that you used. Obviously, you've got a new
- 2:12:57camera and stuff to experimenting with that and also
- 2:13:00just the vibe of like, you know, you you're cooking and stuff and
- 2:13:03it's like a genuine cooking show.
- 2:13:05Like, you're talking about sneakers and stuff and you're
- 2:13:06making all this stuff and you're talking about Fitness and stuff.
- 2:13:09And it's only like these elements that work and you can
- 2:13:12tell that you're very comfortable while you're doing
- 2:13:14it. And I'm like, what are the plans
- 2:13:17with this? Is this gonna be a regular
- 2:13:18thing? Because I can see like guests on
- 2:13:20this. I could see so many
- 2:13:22possibilities with this. Like I'm I always just sitting
- 2:13:24there like excited. I was like, oh my God like
- 2:13:26what's he going to do it? Do to survive this?
- 2:13:29Wow. Wow.
- 2:13:30Okay, yeah you pretty much took the words out of my mouth.
- 2:13:33Like obviously it was just a little idea that I just thought
- 2:13:38of like there was Few things I wanted to talk about.
- 2:13:40I wanted to sort of transition the conversation from, you know,
- 2:13:45only sneakers to maybe a little bit of health and fitness a
- 2:13:49little bit of, you know, martial arts training and stuff, which
- 2:13:52obviously you've seen in follow-ups that that has that
- 2:13:55has happened. So that that was sort of the
- 2:13:58main function of that. It's just that I wanted to sort
- 2:14:00of have a thing where I could Branch everything together, but
- 2:14:03with the, with the format, I, you know, that that is something
- 2:14:08that I want to carry on doing. Ooh, and you pretty much took
- 2:14:10the words right out of my mouth? I know it was quite a basic sort
- 2:14:14of, I don't know like it. Obviously, the cooking aspect to
- 2:14:20it was sort of like a background element to start off with but I
- 2:14:23can definitely see like in the future.
- 2:14:26Maybe trying something a bit more experimental maybe more of
- 2:14:30like a focus on that aspect as well as talking.
- 2:14:34And yeah I've even thought about like I've got I've got some
- 2:14:37friends that all Living like a house together of I've thought
- 2:14:42about like, you know, doing it with lack of group of people
- 2:14:45and, you know, setting up like a good like three or four camera
- 2:14:49angles and stuff and see him like if anything happens there.
- 2:14:52But that's why I mean is that like as much as I enjoy like
- 2:14:58sitting and just having a chat and stuff, I want to be creative
- 2:15:01and everything. So I know I can do both things
- 2:15:04at once so I just want to make sure I get the right balance,
- 2:15:07but that's true. We're like, that's really good
- 2:15:10that you, you know, you enjoyed that is good to hear enough.
- 2:15:14Had some good feedback about that.
- 2:15:16So yeah. No, it is something that I'm
- 2:15:18looking to continue but yeah. Hopefully sort of developing it
- 2:15:24over time as well. Get a little theme tune.
- 2:15:26Maybe absolutely. Yeah.
- 2:15:28Like a little show and also I really wanted to even though the
- 2:15:32sort of cooking aspect wasn't like at the Forefront.
- 2:15:35I really wanted to sort of bring that vibe I hate using the word
- 2:15:40by using now. It's also cooking show.
- 2:15:43I wanted to make sure that like it had the cooking show Vibe.
- 2:15:45I wanted it to be like familiar, as well as like, really, like,
- 2:15:50what is going on. But I really wanted it to be
- 2:15:52like, you know, like how you see on daytime TV and stuff.
- 2:15:55They are like the, oh, I'm Chef Anne up this and everything and
- 2:15:59look, you want your lettuce and cut it?
- 2:16:01Like this. I really wanted it to feel like
- 2:16:02that but it is. I've been that's great like
- 2:16:05foreigners. Well yeah, it felt like that but
- 2:16:07it was cool. Yeah, because it from with those
- 2:16:10daytime shows is like, you know, it's like a man going nuts over
- 2:16:14lettuce and it's like, make much less.
- 2:16:17Yeah. Well, what is it?
- 2:16:18I wanted to sort of play into that but also make fun of it at
- 2:16:22the same time. So it was either that translated
- 2:16:25and it. I did put a lot of thought into
- 2:16:27like sort of not what I was going to say but sort of like
- 2:16:32the vibe and the Angles and stuff, I wanted to make sure I
- 2:16:35got those right? So it's good news to hear, they
- 2:16:37paid off. Can't wait to see more.
- 2:16:41Speaking of which do you have plans to create content that
- 2:16:45differs from your sneaker content?
- 2:16:47Obviously you mentioned the stuff about the martial arts and
- 2:16:49stuff like that, so we know that there's going to be some other
- 2:16:51stuff, but outside of that, you know, you've always been a very
- 2:16:54creative person. You're always kind of up for
- 2:16:56trying new things. It is that like a we beginning
- 2:17:00to see is your channel, go to open up now, or are we always
- 2:17:04going to stick to that? You know, sneakers Focus thing?
- 2:17:07I'm just curious. Uncle.
- 2:17:12Yeah, like I said, the outside that even though it was the
- 2:17:16sneaker cooking show, I think from that point, I'd say
- 2:17:21probably marks, sort of luck, a different new phase, let's call
- 2:17:25it, you know, the new phase term Phase 2.
- 2:17:29Like we're going to be trying a lot of new things hopefully and
- 2:17:34you know, things following that are going to give you good
- 2:17:36examples of what's what? Has to come.
- 2:17:39Am I moving away from sneakers? No, not at all.
- 2:17:42But of course not. No, we're going to be taught.
- 2:17:45We're going to be tucked. We're going to be taken up a
- 2:17:46notch. Let's just say that and just
- 2:17:48trying a lot of different things which I'm hoping.
- 2:17:51Hopefully I'll be able to work with you at some point again and
- 2:17:56some other people, obviously, I mentioned that before, but we're
- 2:17:59moving into, like yeah, we're moving into an interesting time.
- 2:18:03I'd say in exciting and interesting exciting, good
- 2:18:08stuff. Good stuff.
- 2:18:10Okay, and outside of YouTube is there anything you sort of want
- 2:18:15to get into in terms of the sneaker scene or maybe just
- 2:18:18other areas of life? So forgetting everything, you've
- 2:18:20we've covered today. Like, is there just anything
- 2:18:22else? Maybe or, I don't know anything
- 2:18:25else you'd like to try. I not at the moment, obviously
- 2:18:35leading up to my the you know, the time when I'm doing my
- 2:18:39Taekwondo sort of trial and being pretty much all my spare
- 2:18:42time is going to be working towards that.
- 2:18:46So and that obviously, I've obviously got some other light
- 2:18:49academic stuff to do towards my coursework and sort of
- 2:18:52apprenticeship and stuff. So at the moment, I think my
- 2:18:57plates full enough. And then I'm going to look at
- 2:19:02Pretty much reassess next year, probably.
- 2:19:05But, at the moment, pretty much what I've mentioned today is
- 2:19:09what I'm working on. Yeah, too.
- 2:19:10Busy, man, busy man. Yeah, it's good.
- 2:19:13It's good to be busy. I love being busy.
- 2:19:15I think it's good. It's good for the soul for your
- 2:19:17work in, you got a purpose, it's good.
- 2:19:22Yeah. Bringing everything to a close
- 2:19:24today. Do you have any?
- 2:19:26I think your sense where you going to but do you have any
- 2:19:30upcoming projects? Videos or any final thoughts
- 2:19:34that you'd like to share with us.
- 2:19:37Any upcoming things now I think I've I think I've given you
- 2:19:44know, some good hints. I'd say just look out for any.
- 2:19:48You'll definitely see some light longer sort of style things
- 2:19:52coming soon, but I'm obviously not going to be moving that far
- 2:19:56away from also doing like you know the three or four-minute
- 2:20:02crazy sneaker shouting about. I hate this and stuff.
- 2:20:06You know, you're still To see that, but there's going to be,
- 2:20:09you know, developments in different into different areas
- 2:20:12and with the with the cooking and the sort of podcast style
- 2:20:17stuff as well. But other than that, not really
- 2:20:21anything else to be sort of a sort of looking out for just
- 2:20:26obviously support my man. Christian, hopefully getting
- 2:20:29that Discord, it helps everyone. If everyone's in there, what
- 2:20:35else? Just, I hope that At like, I
- 2:20:38don't know. I'm a bit weird.
- 2:20:39I don't like talking about myself too much, so I just want
- 2:20:43everyone who's watched this just to understand that don't look at
- 2:20:47this as me talk about myself. Please learn something.
- 2:20:52Learn from our mistakes. Learn from am a Christian and I
- 2:20:56hope this helped someone, even if it's one person to, you know,
- 2:21:01better themselves or got out and do something, you know, because
- 2:21:05Life's Too Short like What with while I was dating with, like
- 2:21:09this year, I've dealt with, you know, I've dealt with some
- 2:21:13losses. Some people, you know, I've had
- 2:21:16family in hospital, I've dealt with, you know, losses in every
- 2:21:19sense of the word and it sort of broke me down and made me, you
- 2:21:25know, assess my purpose. What what I want to do and
- 2:21:28stuff? And it really showed me if
- 2:21:30anything. And even if like skip to this
- 2:21:33point, if you don't watch any of this, get to this point like
- 2:21:36just Is to everything's is too short, Life's Too Short.
- 2:21:39Like, you just got to give everything a hundred percent.
- 2:21:42So, hopefully, even if I blabbed on a bit about Jiu-Jitsu that
- 2:21:46you might not care about or Taekwondo sneakers or something,
- 2:21:49just know that, like, I'm out here.
- 2:21:51I'm working work harder than me. Do more than me, please.
- 2:21:55Like, I'll push all of you just to try your best.

- 2:22:29impressive stuff. And I think the biggest thing
- 2:22:32about you is that you're really passionate with everything that
- 2:22:35you do and that's always been The thing that I've always
- 2:22:38really kind of admired about you, and I think that anyone
- 2:22:42that's not familiar with you should definitely check you out
- 2:22:44because like I said, you know, I didn't have an invested in
- 2:22:47vested interest in you when I first met you because I sort of
- 2:22:51thought you would do in the same way that if I see like a gamer
- 2:22:54YouTuber, I'm not it generally mean, if I see like they have
- 2:22:57Fortnight stuff, it's like, it's not for me, but sometimes if you
- 2:23:01just take a risk on someone, you'd be very surprised and that
- 2:23:06was the case. Case, when I first saw your
- 2:23:08content and I think that everyone should be going out
- 2:23:11there and giving you a shot and checking your stuff out because
- 2:23:13it's excellent. So, yeah.
