  couple of days, this week is all about God's superiority over

  Babylon and his plan to save his people.

  And yesterday he spoke about how useless the Babylonians gods are
• 0:43
  compared with him. And today, God is going to tell
• 0:47
  his people through Isaiah that he will bring Babylon down.
• 0:51
  Her and her useless gods will come tumbling down, and he will
• 0:56
  remain God of the universe. And I don't know what Babylon
• 1:01
  you're facing in your life, that enormous power that seems to
• 1:05
  have taken over, that you're wondering how you and your
• 1:08
  mission for God is going to find a way around that.
• 1:12
  But whatever's going on, friend, let this be an encouragement to
• 1:14
  you that God is indeed bigger than whatever it is that you
• 1:18
  face. Let's read it together, you and
• 1:21
  I. Isaiah Chapter 47.

  Come down virgin daughter of Babylon, and sit in the dust for
• 1:41
  your days of sitting on a throne have ended, oh daughter of
• 1:45
  Babylonia. Never again will you be the
• 1:48
  lovely Princess, tender and delicate.
• 1:51
  Take heavy millstones and grind flower.
• 1:55
  Remove your veil and strip off your robe.
• 1:58
  Expose yourself to public view. You will be naked and burdened
• 2:02
  with shame. I will take vengeance against
• 2:06
  you without pity. Our Redeemer, whose name is the
• 2:10
  Lord of Heaven's armies, is the Holy One of Israel.
• 2:16
  Oh beautiful Babylon. Sit now in darkness and silence.
• 2:21
  Never again will you be known as the Queen of Kingdoms, for I was
• 2:26
  angry with my chosen people and punished them by letting them
• 2:30
  fall into your hands. But you, Babylon showed them no
• 2:34
  mercy. You oppressed them, even the
• 2:37
  elderly. You said I will reign forever as
• 2:41
  Queen of the world. You did not reflect on your
• 2:45
  actions or think about their consequences.
• 2:48
  Listen to this you pleasure loving Kingdom, living at ease
• 2:52
  and feeling secure. You say, I am the only one and
• 2:57
  there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose
• 3:01
  my children. Well, both these things will
• 3:05
  come upon you in a moment, Widowhood.
• 3:09
  And the loss of your children. Yes, these calamities will come
• 3:12
  upon you. Despite all your witchcraft and
• 3:16
  magic. You felt secure in your
• 3:19
  wickedness. No one sees me, you said.
• 3:24
  But your wisdom and knowledge have led you astray, and you
• 3:29
  said, I am the only one, and there is no other.
• 3:33
  So disaster will overtake you, and you won't be able to charm
• 3:38
  it away. Calamity will fall upon you, and
• 3:42
  you won't be able to buy your way out.
• 3:44
  A catastrophe will strike you suddenly, one for which you are
• 3:48
  not prepared. Now use your magical charms.
• 3:54
  Use the spells you have worked at all these years.
• 3:58
  Maybe that will do you some good.
• 4:00
  Maybe they can make someone afraid of you.
• 4:03
  All the advice you receive has made you tired.
• 4:07
  Where are your astrologers, those stargazers who make
• 4:11
  predictions each month? Let them stand up and save you
• 4:15
  from what the future holds. But they are like straw burning
• 4:20
  in a fire. They cannot save themselves from
• 4:28
  the flame. You will get no help from them
• 4:31
  at all. Their hearth is no place to sit
• 4:34
  for warmth and all your friends, those with whom you've done
• 4:38
  business since childhood. Will go their own ways, turning
• 4:43
  a deaf ear to your cries. You are a consistent God, our
• 4:52
  God. You stand at our side morning,
• 4:57
  noon, and night, day after day, year after year, generation
• 5:03
  after generation. Lord, imbue us with that
• 5:09
  confidence in you that we can trust in you, because every word
• 5:14
  you say is fulfilled and every promise you make you stay firmly
• 5:20
  too, that you will rescue your people.
• 5:25
  And indeed, you have rescued us, and you have forged a way for us
• 5:30
  to be saved and to spend every moment of eternity in your
• 5:36
  presence, in your love, and in your acceptance to worship you
• 5:40
  and magnify you. But we don't wait until
• 5:44
  eternity. We begin now and we worship you
• 5:47
  and we magnify You, our mighty God, our consistent God and our
• 5:52
  loving God now and always. And it's in Jesus name that we
• 5:57
  pray all these things. Amen.
