- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today, I'm not sure if any of you have or are followers of
- 0:36Alex Hormozi, but he wrote a book, 100 million leads, and
- 0:41this this book is just unbelievable.
- 0:44His stuff is unbelievable and his story is unbelievable.
- 0:47He's great teacher on a great mission with a huge heart.
- 0:52And I saw something that he put up on Instagram and I wanted to
- 0:56share it with you because it's something that I am so aligned
- 0:59to. His quote is this.
- 1:01The biggest risk to your future isn't your competition.
- 1:05It's the distractions you insist on keeping in your life rather
- 1:09than doing the things you know you should be doing but aren't.
- 1:14Boy, isn't that an understatement?
- 1:16Think about that. The distractions.
- 1:19So the distractions that could be the phone, the distractions
- 1:22that could be television, iPads, video games, we are so tethered
- 1:29to distractions, it's crazy. And we just simply do not take
- 1:34the time to do what we need to do and move ourselves away from
- 1:38being distracted, move ourselves into a better headspace.
- 1:42You know, it's funny because we think we do a great job
- 1:45sometimes and we think we're just not distracted.
- 1:49But we'll say, oh, I just need a break.
- 1:51I need a break. So we, we chalk things up into
- 1:54the I need a break category. The problem is, it's not really
- 1:57that you need the break. It's that you're tethered to
- 2:00that phone and to that electronic stuff.
- 2:03Because remember, that's the whole purpose of it.
- 2:05It is wired, literally wired to make your brain want to come
- 2:09back to it. It has an addictive state, so
- 2:12the electronics, all the things that distract us, that take us
- 2:15away from our long term goals and what we want to do are doing
- 2:18just that. They're making you a prisoner in
- 2:20your own world. And sometimes we just don't even
- 2:24see it until it's too late. It's The funny thing about this,
- 2:28though, is we notice this in our kids a lot.
- 2:30We notice this in other people will say, oh, he's on that all
- 2:34the time or she does that or they do this.
- 2:36And we're constantly in that frame of pointing fingers at
- 2:39other people. But the question is, when's the
- 2:42last time you looked on your phone to say, hey, wait a
- 2:45second, what's my screen time right now?
- 2:48Or you look at your other activities that you, you know,
- 2:51distract you, whatever it might be.
- 2:54And when you start totaling those up.
- 2:56And I'm not just picking on electronics, obviously, because
- 2:59I use them myself and I couldn't be doing a podcast without them.
- 3:04But and I use social media to advertise.
- 3:06So I'm not talking about that as not being a tool.
- 3:09What I'm talking about it is the unhealthy distractions.
- 3:12And those can also come in ways of, you know, just obsessively
- 3:16watching movies or alcohol or, you know, drugs of any kind.
- 3:21There's all kinds of distractions that show up with
- 3:24us, and we allow it. We don't do anything to correct
- 3:28it unless we're aware of it and we have a desire to do better.
- 3:32So today I'm putting this out there.
- 3:35I'm throwing it out there because the question is, where
- 3:37are you distracted? What are the things that are
- 3:40taking you away from something that you want oh so much?
- 3:44I mean, that's the whole part, right?
- 3:46What are the things that are just taking you apart from the
- 3:49things that you say you really want, the stuff that you really
- 3:53say you want? Because if you're talking about
- 3:56getting somewhere in the future, if you do, if you listen to what
- 3:59he said and you're thinking, OK, I'm headed towards this in my
- 4:03future and you're still letting those distractions get in,
- 4:07you're not going to get there. You're not going to get where
- 4:09you're going. You want to go.
- 4:11You're going to just stay where you are and you're going to get
- 4:13to a place that was not the intended destination.
- 4:16And it'll piss you off, I promise, because every one of us
- 4:20has been there when we've seen that happen.
- 4:22So rather than having that take place, rather than having that
- 4:25be the reality, why not do something about it?
- 4:28Why not make a decision beforehand, course correct it,
- 4:31fix it so that you know without question you're not going to
- 4:34have to suffer that grave fate that shows up when you are
- 4:39having such a a heavy experience of it and not paying attention
- 4:45to it. So change it ahead of time, look
- 4:47at it, make the list of what the distractions are and get them
- 4:50cleared up and then there won't be a problem.
- 4:52All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 4:55will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
