Zach, brother of Tyler, is also from Marshalltown but ended up going to high school in Ankeny, playing for Jaguars of Centennial. He never planned on playing college football, until a coach recruiting Riley Moss, his high school teammate, mentioned something to Tyler in late 2017. That sparked a multi year process of scratching and clawing his way into the program. His career lasted 2 years before he decided to move on, but sits as an example of how many, maybe the majority of walk on careers actually play out.
