- Jacob Bunce: Welcome back to Fade or Follow. ⁓ you got your boy Jacob here. Grant, say hello to the people. Good evening, everybody. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. Good evening everyone. How are you guys doing? We're so b we are so back. Football is back. Good evening. Welcome to the ne nightly news. Yeah, no. It's it's been a long day. ⁓ Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Got a corporate mode grant. ⁓ yeah, no, the Hall of Fame, it's funny, it's like no one really gives a fuck about this game, but it's it's right it's it's kind of the blue balls of the ⁓ NCAA NFL season. I mean week zero is is three weeks away, ⁓ which is just crazy. ⁓ which I know you're probably gonna bet on some of the crappy FCF bullshit games. Who's who's playing with those again? Grant Nonemacher: It scratches it scratches the itch. Yeah. Yes. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, of course. Of course. Like Towson and Maine and Eastern Illinois and and Yeah, that's Vermont. Vermont's a lock, dude. You gotta take a minus thirty and a half. Yeah, so but yeah, football but football is hey, it's football is football and this Hall of Fame game means su means something to someone and Jacob Bunce: Throw a bag on Towson verse main. That's funny. ⁓ yeah, go ahead. Grant Nonemacher: Even if it's the guy trying to make the practice squad or trying to make the third string running back slot, it means something to someone. So Jacob Bunce: And two lifers going into the Hall of Fame themselves. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Luke Keekly and Larry Fitzgerald, ⁓ two legends of the game. I I think ⁓ Larry Fitzgerald is honestly you could make the argument that he's the num second best wide receiver ever. Like just in terms of consistency, like maybe wasn't the flashiest, but in terms of consistency and just production and just coming to work every day, like there's no one better than Larry F Larry Fitzgerald was just ⁓ like the ⁓ just the man. Jacob Bunce: Did did he announce retirement after the season? Is he is he Yeah. Grant Nonemacher: Larry Fitzgerald? Well, he's going into the Hall of Fame, so he's been out of the league for five years. Jacob Bunce: You can go ahead and cut that. Actually you know what, you can leave that in. Grant Nonemacher: All right. So yeah, no, ⁓ yes, he has retired. but ⁓ yeah, Luke Ke yeah, Luke Keekly also but Lee Luke Keekly, like a mat like he he's he's one of those guys that he's a giant what if story. Like he retired super early, like he was on that twenty fifteen Panthers team that went to the NFL or went to the Super Bowl. Jacob Bunce: Leave that one in. Mm-hmm. Grant Nonemacher: with Cam Newton, like he w he caught a he called it quit super early. Like he could have been one of those guy he could just been like a Brian Erlacher for those the Carolina team. He honestly could have been better than Brian Erlacher, if I'm being totally real. He was like an animal he was such an animal. Wig he just led that he was the he's he had like the Jacob Bunce: I mean that was the season that broke Cam Newton and the Panthers. I mean it just brutal. He was never the same ⁓ since. I don't know why. I mean you lose a Super Bowl, that's fine, but you lose to Peyt Manning, it's like get over yourself, dude. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah, ex yeah. Yeah. No for yeah. The Yeah, yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's like you l yeah it's you lost to Tom like it's like losing to Tom Brady. You're kinda just it just happens to everyone just trying to pick it up. But I think ⁓ yeah, like that that I that Panthers that Panthers team for like those couple of years, like twenty fourteen to twenty six like they were really, really they were they were like on the doorstep for a few years and like Cam New I think just the way I think just the way Cam Newton played though, kind of lended itself Jacob Bunce: I know. Grant Nonemacher: to him not lasting that long 'cause he just like he played like he was six five, two seventy you know what I mean? Like he was a shit brick house. But the you don't sus you can't sus we can't sustain that. Jacob Bunce: Yeah. Well And fast forwarding the last season, I mean, shit, they're eight nine. Won the NFC South, made the playoffs, which is just insane for an eight nine team to win or to make it to the playoffs in general. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. And if you for sure, and if and if you were right. And if you remember they took the Rams to the they took the Rams to the limit a little bit. Like they ran like the Rams are kind of blowing ⁓ out, but Carolina made a little run at ⁓ at the end. Like a you can call it garbage time if you won. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, that was a cr yeah, that was a crazy game. Like that was Yeah. Yeah. I think it was weren't there like eighty points in that game, right? It was like forty to f like Jacob Bunce: I was at the game where they beat them at home. It was shitty weather, but it was yeah, I no one expected that. There were a lot. I mean, I think the Rams scored within the first four minutes and I was like I looked at my dad and I'm like, Well this is over and then ⁓ they came right back and it was it was back and forth battle all game. Lot of wind and and shit too, but ⁓ Grant Nonemacher: Hell yeah. Yeah. No, it's like the There's like a bunch of pick sixes if I recall correct there's a lot of turnovers. Jacob Bunce: There were yeah, there were yeah, I mean it was it was raining, it was windy, it was cold. ⁓ yeah, there were some some big, big key time picks. ⁓ Stafford didn't have his best game, but you know, that's obviously gonna happen when you lose against the Panthers. So Grant Nonemacher: Mm. Right. Yeah. Yeah, it's like you don't loop you don't lose against the Panthers when you play well, they kinda Yeah. You kinda beat yourself a little bit. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, I mean I think the the big question though is like is Brace Young the dude? Like is he the guy? I think this season or last season he played a lot better. And it just shows I think franchises are way too quick to judge a newer QB coming into the league. And I don't know. I mean I I I think I was looking at their live total earlier at seven and a half, which seems like what am I missing? Grant Nonemacher: Yeah, he's yeah. ⁓ yeah. He's for sure. Yeah. ⁓ Yeah, it's n yeah, I think it's really just the division they play in is just continues to be so average. Like the Falcons are still trying to figure it out, like is like they got ⁓ Bijan and Kyle Pitts, but they got n ⁓ what's ⁓ Jacob Bunce: Well, I mean look at this dude. I mean it it so they play the Bears, which I'm gonna say loss. Falcons it's always a good game. I don't know. I I could see them winning too. The Browns, like that's a win. Lions is a loss, Eagles loss, Bucks, that's always a coin toss game. Like Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. It's a loss, yeah. ⁓ win. But it I I saw I th yeah. Win. Mhm. W what's it yeah, crazy. That's what I'm saying, is like these d they're these divisional games, they play six they play six divisional games. Jacob Bunce: Saints. I'm gonna say they win one of the Bucks games. That's four. They're gonna win both the Saints games. And then it's Bengals, Steelers, Seahawks, Falcon. Honestly that's seven and a half's pretty good. Man. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah, yeah. Sick, I guess. Yeah. Yeah, I'm saying. Like that's what I'm saying is like the Bryce Young, like you're go I I'm just gonna I I think, yeah, like I think they have a pretty soft ish schedule. They can definitely win those eight games that they need to cash that. But it's like Bryce Young has been dead to right like dead in this league like two or three times at this point. He keeps f getting away you know, he keeps finding his way back in. Like they tried to bench him for Andy Dalton last year. Andy Dalton goes down, he comes back in and he plays he balls out and he saves his job and now he's got one more year to Try to figure it out, but yeah. Jacob Bunce: think that's what he needed. I I think I think he'll bounce back, but again, to your point, the schedule's just so tough. It's the same thing with the Cardinals. I mean, they have a three and a half overunder for the season. I mean Grant Nonemacher: Mm-hmm. Yeah, that that NFC w the NFC West is just the most brutal thing. The NFC West for a rebuilding team as it's currently constituted is just the most brutal thing you could possibly imagine. Like they tore it down to the studs. They traded Kyler Murray to the Vikings, as we talked about last week. Like they ⁓ Jacob Bunce: I might just take it for the meme, dude. I don't even know. Grant Nonemacher: I'll ride it with you. Let me Jacob Bunce: If you're a pro if you're a professional NFL team, you can't get four wins. Like, I don't like what are we doing here? Grant Nonemacher: Yeah, win four wins, yeah. And Jacob and you got Jacoby Burc yeah, Jacoby Brissett, Mar like they got weapons. They got weapons. Yeah. They got Joby Brissett. Yeah. I love that I thought what the Marvin Harrison. They got Marvin. They got Troy McBride. Jeremiah Love. Jacob Bunce: Dude, they got they got they got the guy. They got the guy. No. No no no not Jacoby. No, no. No, no. You're you're overthinking this. Carson back, dude. Grant Nonemacher: ⁓ yeah, no, that guy Carlson Beck. Carlson Beck is the man. They got killed by thinking he can make it to the natty he can make it to the natty three times and lose every single time. It's the best. So Jacob Bunce: I would s I would feel worse if our hot take last year was that Carson Beck was Yeah, it's like that wasn't a hot take. That was just a fucking normal take that everyone thought of and then he So I don't know, maybe it'll happen again in the NFL, who knows? But I I seriously doubt it. Grant Nonemacher: At Miami would suck. And then he we shit on everyone's chest. No, yeah, that's yeah. No, I agree. But the thing that sneakily like I No, and he and Sid the S ⁓ I I guess Nick F ni ⁓ yeah, he he's gonna be a solid backup. He I was gonna say like white guys that look like Sid the Sloth don't make it in this league, but Nick Foles won a Super Bowl, so what the fuck do I know? Jacob Bunce: White dudes with sleeves just don't mix in the NFL. He'll be a backup. Yeah. Yeah, that is true. That is true. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. ⁓ like yeah I Jacob Bunce: Alright, what do we talk about like I mean I d you know, the the breakdown of this game is is obviously like we're we're we're talking third stringers, we're talking coaches really just evaluating people, we're talking backups. I you I think Carson Beck has stated that or the team stated he's gonna start. Yeah, exactly. ⁓ Kenny Pickett's gonna start, Bryce Young might have a throw or two, Haynes King might make an appearance, but Grant Nonemacher: Yeah, yeah, we're not talking starters. Carson Beck has something to prove. Carson Beck has something to prove. Yeah. He's got some yeah, he's he's he's got something to prove. He's got chip on his shoulder. I like I I Haynes can it Haynes King is kinda like if Haynes King gets any meaningful minutes, like he might score a touchdown just 'cause he can like just take off and he runs like a deer. I don't know how many Georgia Tech games you watched last year, but that kid can like he's like six four and he just run he just gallops. Like he can just pick run a QB draw and just take it to the crib at any point. So it Jacob Bunce: My gut is saying I just want to take the Panthers. But I feel like Sid the Sloth is going to punch me in the dick again. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. Do you like Kenny Pickett Nick do Yeah, I know that's what I'm saying. I feel like every time we fade every time we fade Carson back, we lose. But we took Indiana and the Natty, he did win that. So that was good. But ⁓ no, I agree. I think I I think the Panthers have the better coach and the better overall roster. I just ⁓ I I I I wanna know who's I yeah, I th I think The interesting stat that I did see is that the underdog, even though this game's basically a pick is is eight and two against the spread in the last ten. So set four and yeah. So I you know what I I think I I don't I don't have to check the line on it, but Carson Beck, one plus passing touchdown might be a bet if it's bettable. I might check I might bet yeah. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, and ⁓ overs four straight. Alright, well let's let's check the line right now. With the only app we use our partner DraftKings. I'm kidding. Grant Nonemacher: Not lined logged into my Year partner. Yeah partner. Our green book. No free ads. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, no f yeah. ⁓ let's see, Hall of Fame game. Here we go. Damn, dude. ⁓ look at that. They made a little bit of ⁓ do you see that little chart on there? Showcases a percentage of ⁓ what they think the team's gonna win. It's probably not gonna show 'cause my look at that. The little chart on there now. Grant Nonemacher: ⁓ no. ⁓ yeah, it's like ⁓ they made it look like a prediction market. Look at that. They wanna they wanna be like Yeah, I know. ⁓ my god. Yeah, seriously. I was in I was in Mexico and I was like, Man, how am I gonna how am I gonna gamble? and I downloaded Call She. I'm like, no way it works here and it worked. I'm like, God damn it, these guys are getting away with rob like robbery. Yes. Jacob Bunce: fictions, talk about the biggest loophole in in the history of the world. Grant. I think I might have stumbled upon a pretty good bet. Carson Beck first pass to be a completion minus one seventy five. Grant Nonemacher: Okay. ⁓ That might be ⁓ that might be free. I kinda lo I I I lay it. Yeah, I lay that juice. Shack down yeah, or as like a quick like slant just to get him going. Yeah. Okay. Mark Jacob Bunce: I mean it's a little juicy but like it's probably gonna be a check down. We could do that with a Kenny Pickett first plat. ⁓ you can't combine ⁓ so whatever. Never mind. Grant Nonemacher: That's what Gavin does on the other show that we're not gonna talk about because no free ads. He d he he does yeah, he does like both pass like both passes to be a c both first both QB's first pass to be a completion. I think he does it on Bet MGM or the the black and gold book, no free ads. Jacob Bunce: He di what he parlayed him? Okay. Yeah, there's no there's no there's no ⁓ props out yet. It's just all like Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. Yeah, I think they I think they do it for the regular season because they don't know who's they don't do they might not do it for the preseason 'cause they don't know who's starting these games. ⁓ but yeah, I think the I think o on paper the Panthers should win this game just with the experience factor. Like like the the Cardinals are basically a completely new roster. ⁓ but I just I like you said, just every time we fade Carson back we seem to get screwed. So I might Jacob Bunce: Yeah, honestly I think it's just like a statistic game. I'd maybe just take the the points and the over and hope for some some garbage pick sixes and breakaways from a third stringer. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. Yeah, I just fa yes right. Yeah. Yeah, just to see what Right, absolutely. And I don't mean to I don't wanna like yap anymore, but I just wanna make one more point about the current Cardinals. Like they sneakily have some weapons. If they could get their quarterback right, like Marvin Harrison Junior, z ⁓ Trey McBride, Jeremiah Love, like they've got some guys on the offensive side of the ball, so I'm not saying like they're gonna be good by any stretch this year, but they have young talent. It's just if they can develop that, they might be into they might be on to something. So Jacob Bunce: Dude, yeah, I mean they'd be they'd be absolutely terrifying if they just had a somewhat decent quarterback coaching situation. I mean, I guess we'll see how LaFleur does, but it's just an unfortunate ⁓ franchise. I mean, you thought you had your guy and he's a good he's good, but just never could seem to get hot at the right time. Yeah, he's out here playing fucking video games. Grant Nonemacher: A c quarterback, yep. Yep. But first ⁓ Yeah, it is. If Kyler Murray could Yeah. Stop playing c stop playing Call of Duty. Every time. Yeah. ⁓ and apparently No. No, it's a when you're a professional football player and you're making nine figures, like put put down the video game controller, brother. Like you're playing a game for a living. You're playing a game for real. Like, come on. It's like so I agree. Like I don't no no shame in playing video games, but like gotta keep your priorities straight when you're when you got ten years to make as much money as possible. Jacob Bunce: I mean no disrespect to people playing video games, but you know, maybe pick one. No. Grant Nonemacher: You can play as many video games as you want in retirement, but when you gotta when you got the when you got the window, you gotta take it. Jacob Bunce: Yeah, no Well the other thing that scares me too, real quick before we end, is the where all the money is. I mean, seventy percent of it is on the Cardinals a cover and seventy three's on the over. I mean Grant Nonemacher: Yes. No, that's tough. That's it. I don't have to look at where the s I'm gonna have to look at the splits a little bit more on that, but and see where the Jacob Bunce: It's it's Yeah, that was on that was from Bad ⁓ GM, but I don't know. Grant Nonemacher: Yeah. That's gonna be yeah, the seventy ⁓ the the the fact that Arizona's pretty public makes me wanna take Caroline a little bit, but yeah, I agree. I'm I'm in it's a very intriguing. It's gonna be an interesting game. Jacob Bunce: question is whether or not you could have Carson Beck live in your mind in a nightmare for a few days or not. Grant Nonemacher: Yes. No, for sure. I you know, I might bet like I said, I might bet him to throw a touchdown and Panthers to win the game. That makes any sense. You know what I mean? I might bet both sides of that because I think Carson Beck can play well, have him get benched, like to play not play the second half, have their third string guys come in and then have Carolina win the game. That's my that's my thought process. In the over. Maybe an alt over. I don't know. I'm not Jacob Bunce: In the over. If they allow us. Grant Nonemacher: No, th if they can tea if we can tease it, we probably take like ⁓ Carolina like plus like four and a half and take an over like t thirty two and a half or something and just like a three point tease and get it g get in some points and just do it. I don't think this game's gonna be a complete dud, but you never know. But I agree, I think that sounds like f we can look at the alt lines for sure. That's gonna sound good, brother. Yeah, we make this make a little quick tonight. Make it a quick make it a quick one tonight and we'll Jacob Bunce: Cool. All right, well yeah, ⁓ this is what's up? Yeah, making it a quick one. I mean we don't wanna yap too much about the Hall of Fame game, but we're excited to kind of get into the actual season. We know a lot of stuff's been going on. Week zero right around the corner. NFL season, let's fucking go do just a few more nights of sleep. Grant Nonemacher: Yes. Absolutely. Yep. Yep. Fo Yeah, absolutely. We are so back. A few more just a few more weeks and then we're gonna have a full slate to talk about and it's gonna be li it's gonna be a great time. I can't wait. Jacob Bunce: All right, well, see you everybody. Thanks for tuning in. Talk to you soon. Grant Nonemacher: That's it. Have a night everyone. Bye guys.
