- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 100! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. A hundred episodes of teaching Italian together. That's pretty special. Luna: It is. And today we're doing something we love — more picnic phrases at the park. Lucas: We've covered a lot of picnic vocabulary. But today we're adding a few new ones. Let's start with: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Luna: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? That means "Can I have a glass of water?" Lucas: Exactly. Posso avere — "can I have" — un bicchiere d'acqua — "a glass of water." Let's hear you say it. Luna: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua. Lucas: Perfect. Now imagine you're at a picnic and you want some water. You'd say: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Luna: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Got it. What if I want to make a toast? Lucas: Great question. In Italian, when you clink glasses, you say Cin cin! Or sometimes Salute! Luna: Cin cin! That sounds fun. Like "cheers!" Lucas: Exactly. And Salute! literally means "health." So you can use either. Let's practice. Cin cin! Luna: Cin cin! Lucas: And Salute! Luna: Salute! I love that. Lucas: Now after you've eaten a lot, you might feel full. In Italian, you say Sono sazio — "I'm full." Luna: Sono sazio. So if someone offers me more food, I can say: No grazie, sono sazio. Lucas: Exactly. And if you want to ask a friend if they're still hungry, you say: Hai ancora fame? Luna: Hai ancora fame? That's "Are you still hungry?" Lucas: Right. Hai — "you have" — ancora — "still" — fame — "hunger." So: Hai ancora fame? Luna: Hai ancora fame? And if I'm not, I say Sono sazio. Lucas: Perfect. Let's put it all together in a little scene. Picture us at the park. Luna: Okay. I'm sitting on the blanket. Lucas: I say: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Luna: Certo! Ecco. And then I say: Cin cin! Lucas: Cin cin! Salute! Then after we eat, I ask: Hai ancora fame? Luna: No, sono sazio. Grazie! Lucas: Great. Now let's repeat the phrases one more time. First: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Luna: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua? Lucas: Cin cin! Luna: Cin cin! Lucas: Salute! Luna: Salute! Lucas: Sono sazio. Luna: Sono sazio. Lucas: Hai ancora fame? Luna: Hai ancora fame? Lucas: You know, a hundred episodes in, it's amazing how much Italian we've covered together. Luna: Yeah, and I feel like I can actually use these phrases. Like, if I ever go to a picnic in Italy, I'd know what to say. Lucas: That's the goal. And if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Italian, we'd love your support. Luna: Yeah, honestly, if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Every little bit helps keep this show ad-free and going. But no pressure. Luna: Right. Okay, back to the park. Let's practice once more with a full sentence. Lucas: Okay. I'll say: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua, per favore? Luna: Posso avere un bicchiere d'acqua, per favore? And then I say: Cin cin! Lucas: Salute! And then after the meal: Sono sazio. Luna: Perfect. And if you want to check on your friend: Hai ancora fame? Lucas: Exactly. That's it for today. Practice these phrases, and try them out the next time you have a picnic. Luna: And remember, you can find all the show notes on our website. See you next time! Lucas: Ciao ciao! Luna: Ciao!
