- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:04Speaker 2: All right, welcome back to the most dramatic dance floor ever.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I love that name, by the way.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This is Trista Sutter, and I'm joined by my amazing co-host,
- 0:15Speaker 2: Deanna Pappas.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hi, Trista. Good morning. What our listeners don't hear is
- 0:21Speaker 1: how we were just ranting about our children, and now
- 0:23Speaker 1: we get to do something that we love, which is
- 0:25Speaker 1: such a gift. Totally.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We love our children, by the way. We just, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 2: motherhood is hard. So we were just commiserating.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Sometimes I think I have many different... Hats. I don't
- 0:38Speaker 1: think I know. I have many different hats that I wear, right?
- 0:41Speaker 1: That I get to do things that I love like
- 0:42Speaker 1: this podcasting or other stuff for The Bachelorette or my
- 0:46Speaker 1: real job, which is a flight attendant, whatever that looks like.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And sometimes at the end of the day, I'm like,
- 0:51Speaker 1: how did I just do all of that? Right. How
- 0:53Speaker 1: did I balance all of that?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Yeah. And no one understands. Well, I mean, I guess
- 0:57Speaker 3: other women.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but our children don't understand. The children, the spouse,
- 1:03Speaker 1: the nobody understands. You have like a million, million different hats.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's really difficult. So I appreciate you. I know you're
- 1:12Speaker 1: working hard. They'll understand it one day.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I promise.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, my hope is 30 years from now,
- 1:19Speaker 1: they're like, wow, mom. You were a great mom. And
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, all right. Then it all paid off.
- 1:25Speaker 1: These wrinkles, these fine lines, it all worked. It's fine.
- 1:27Speaker 1: These nails.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Listen. I will say.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Look at these nails, Trista. Oh, look at the nails, Deanna.
- 1:32Speaker 3: We got to get you together. But listen, these nails, right?
- 1:35Speaker 1: And then Addison's like, I really want to go to
- 1:37Speaker 1: the school dance. It's due by today. And I'm like.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Oh my God, I could go on and on, Trista,
- 1:43Speaker 1: but last night was episode three, and I have to
- 1:47Speaker 1: admit to you... Episode three, but week two, so just so...
- 1:52Speaker 1: Week two, episode three, but I have to admit, I'm
- 1:54Speaker 1: looking forward to it. Am I turning into a Dancing
- 1:57Speaker 1: with the Stars fan?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yes, you are.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Are you working in all aspects of my life? Yes,
- 2:02Speaker 1: you are, Trista.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Luckily, thankfully.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I was so stoked for many reasons, right? I was
- 2:09Speaker 1: so excited, but.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I loved the music for this episode. I thought that
- 2:18Speaker 1: was a really fun change. Do they do this on
- 2:21Speaker 1: the show? Do they have like themes, I guess? Yes. Yes.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Every week there's a different theme. So there'll be like
- 2:27Speaker 2: a Disney night or a Halloween night or whatever. My
- 2:31Speaker 2: favorite night usually is... The dedication night where they dedicate
- 2:36Speaker 2: their dance to someone special in their life.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Oh, stop. I'm going to cry right now and I
- 2:41Speaker 1: haven't even seen it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It's really sentimental and sweet. So last night was the
- 2:46Speaker 2: viral hits night. And yeah, it's so fun because who
- 2:50Speaker 2: doesn't love a viral hit?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And I will say, holy cow, the talent. This cast really, truly, Dina,
- 2:59Speaker 2: she's the casting director.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Did such a good job this year.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I mean, not that she hasn't done that in the past,
- 3:06Speaker 2: but holy cow, I feel like this cast is just magic.
- 3:09Speaker 2: There's so much talent, so much charisma, so much popularity,
- 3:14Speaker 2: so much diversity. It's such a great cast. And I
- 3:20Speaker 2: do have to say, I want to go back because
- 3:23Speaker 2: last week, if you listened to our episode, I don't
- 3:26Speaker 2: know if it was the first or second, but I misspoke.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I said that you can have 10 votes per couple
- 3:35Speaker 2: of I said you can have 10 votes total. So
- 3:40Speaker 2: that was for phone and for online. I meant to say,
- 3:45Speaker 2: or I should have said, that you get 10 votes
- 3:48Speaker 2: per couple per voting method. So if you go on
- 3:53Speaker 2: your phone and you text, I think it's 21523, you
- 3:58Speaker 2: get 10 votes there. And then you get 10 votes
- 4:01Speaker 2: if you go online to abc.com. So just so everyone
- 4:04Speaker 2: knows that. Yeah, don't listen to me in terms of votes.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Listen to what the television show is actually telling you.
- 4:11Speaker 2: So Alfonso knows all so listen to him when the
- 4:14Speaker 2: episode is happening. But you do get unless they have
- 4:17Speaker 2: like a tech difficulty like they did the first episode.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I believe you get 10 votes per couple per voting method.
- 4:24Speaker 2: So I just wanted to clarify that.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for clarifying that Trista, especially for I feel
- 4:28Speaker 1: like you're just going to have to dumb down all
- 4:30Speaker 1: of this stuff for someone like me, but I really
- 4:32Speaker 1: appreciate that. Thank you. Well, no.
- 4:34Speaker 2: And I, please, my brain does not work. And I
- 4:37Speaker 2: am the first to be like, oh, I totally made
- 4:40Speaker 2: a mistake. So that was a huge mistake on my part.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I don't want things. people to think that they can't
- 4:45Speaker 2: get 20 votes per couple, which you can if you
- 4:47Speaker 2: do 10 per text and 10 per computer or website.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So anyway, okay.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Awesome. So getting into the episode, this is week two,
- 4:56Speaker 2: episode three, and it was all of the celebs. So
- 5:00Speaker 2: it was guys and girls last week it was girls
- 5:04Speaker 2: one episode guys one episode so we had everybody in
- 5:07Speaker 2: the ballroom at the same time dancing which was so
- 5:10Speaker 2: exciting i liked this much better yes this is how
- 5:13Speaker 2: it usually is okay so that was a one-off i
- 5:16Speaker 2: think just because um they wanted to split it up
- 5:19Speaker 2: and maybe extend um the dancing with the stars magic
- 5:23Speaker 2: so anyway okay it was viral hits night We started
- 5:25Speaker 2: with Jenna Dewan and Val.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We don't even need to waste our time talking about her.
- 5:30Speaker 1: She's incredible. Again, for those listening, I am not a
- 5:34Speaker 1: professional dancer. I don't even know what some of these
- 5:37Speaker 1: terms are. Like, I can, like, you know, swing my
- 5:40Speaker 1: hips and I can salsa a little with a good guide. But, like,
- 5:44Speaker 1: come on. I also have you and our producer, Heather,
- 5:48Speaker 1: in the back of my head now when they open
- 5:50Speaker 1: and when they close, right? So I'm like, okay, these
- 5:52Speaker 1: are solid. They're sandwiching us up. But I expect nothing
- 5:56Speaker 1: less from Jenna. We don't need to spend a lot
- 5:57Speaker 1: of time talking about her because she is flipping amazing.
- 6:01Speaker 1: She's incredible. She knows how to dance. She knows how
- 6:04Speaker 1: to move her body.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yes. She's a professional dancer.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But I will say, one of my kind of reactions
- 6:13Speaker 2: after the show, because I was paying attention to what
- 6:16Speaker 2: some people said on social media, and I have a
- 6:20Speaker 2: feeling that that she won't maybe be in the final
- 6:26Speaker 2: two because.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Stop it.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Is this your prediction? Note it here.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I just feel like she deserves to be there. Even
- 6:35Speaker 2: from the get-go, from the beginning, she deserves to be
- 6:38Speaker 2: in the final. It's plain as sight. Like, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 2: she deserves to be there. I just feel like people,
- 6:45Speaker 2: I feel like on this show... want to see an underdog.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And that's pretty much in life. I feel like football games,
- 6:52Speaker 2: like any time, Big Brother, like when I'm watching Big Brother,
- 6:56Speaker 2: I want to root for the underdog, right? And so
- 6:59Speaker 2: I feel like because she is such a good dancer,
- 7:04Speaker 2: because she's a professional dancer, people might not give her
- 7:08Speaker 2: the votes because they think, oh, she's doing great enough
- 7:12Speaker 2: on her own that the judges are going to give
- 7:14Speaker 2: her good scores. So we should vote for the underdog.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And I'm just wondering, I'm thinking maybe she won't last
- 7:21Speaker 2: because people will be giving their votes to somebody who
- 7:24Speaker 2: is the underdog.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would say I'm probably one of those people. You
- 7:27Speaker 1: know what I mean? If we're looking at talent and skill,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I'm I, not that I'm rooting for, I just see
- 7:33Speaker 1: going all the way as Ezra. And then I really
- 7:36Speaker 1: just like for my like 2000 self, I really want
- 7:39Speaker 1: Julia styles to come out in the end. You know
- 7:42Speaker 1: what I mean? Like she's amazing. I, I digress really easily,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but I was looking at her arms last night and
- 7:48Speaker 1: this show, what it has put on my heart is
- 7:52Speaker 1: that I need to work out Trista, her arms, their abs,
- 7:56Speaker 1: all of this. I'm like, okay, you've lost 20 pounds,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but let's firm that stuff up. Her arms are incredible.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And I just like love her, her whole thing. Like
- 8:05Speaker 1: she's amazing. Yes.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:08Speaker 2: We're going to get to her, but we're going to
- 8:10Speaker 2: second dance with Sierra and Brandon and Carrie Ann had
- 8:14Speaker 2: commented about her having a lot of trauma and that
- 8:17Speaker 2: hit deep for her in the last week's episode. And
- 8:22Speaker 2: I actually thought, you know, it's interesting because I feel
- 8:26Speaker 2: like I don't know this to be true, but I
- 8:29Speaker 2: wonder if the judges are given certain things to talk
- 8:33Speaker 2: about prior and they kind of do their homework prior.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And I don't know. I just feel like sometimes they
- 8:40Speaker 2: give certain people the benefit of the doubt and other people,
- 8:44Speaker 2: not the benefit of the doubt. And I'm always curious, like,
- 8:46Speaker 2: why did, why did you give this person the benefit
- 8:49Speaker 2: of the doubt and not the other person? Or you
- 8:51Speaker 2: were harder on that other person when they actually did
- 8:53Speaker 2: a better job.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I didn't watch the shows that she was on, but
- 8:56Speaker 1: I did see a lot of it on social media
- 8:58Speaker 1: and she kind of really was drug through the ringer.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So I think she is that one person. I don't
- 9:03Speaker 1: believe that she will go far, but listen, what do
- 9:05Speaker 1: I know? Uh, But she does have that redemption story.
- 9:08Speaker 1: She is that girl who comes on and I too
- 9:11Speaker 1: want to see her do well.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's great. And she did do well
- 9:15Speaker 2: last night. She got all sixes, which, oh, I took
- 9:18Speaker 2: a picture of the leaderboard because I was like, I
- 9:21Speaker 2: want to remember where everyone ended up. And she did
- 9:26Speaker 2: pretty well. I feel like there were multiple people that
- 9:28Speaker 2: got three sixes. So she ended up in the top half.
- 9:31Speaker 2: We'll go over it later, but she ended up in
- 9:33Speaker 2: the top half. So she actually did really well last night.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And I think that's great. I love a redemption story.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And I thought she actually performed way better because remember
- 9:44Speaker 2: last week she had some slip ups and you could
- 9:47Speaker 2: tell that she kind of got lost. And this, I
- 9:50Speaker 2: felt like this dance, maybe she had one or two
- 9:52Speaker 2: little tiny things, but she did great.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Is it okay while we're on the topic? Yeah. The fashion.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I didn't love her. I didn't either. Is it called
- 10:02Speaker 1: a costume? I'm not sure what you call it. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: didn't love it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't either.
- 10:06Speaker 1: She's gorgeous. You know what I mean? She has a
- 10:08Speaker 1: banging body. It's not that. It just, I think that
- 10:11Speaker 1: with the tango, it is a sultry dance. I just...
- 10:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I would have liked to have seen
- 10:17Speaker 1: her in something else. It looked very cheerleader-ish to me,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and the cheerleader didn't fit the vibe of the dance.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Totally agree.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And I feel like I might be wrong in this,
- 10:29Speaker 2: but Maura did a tango the last week, and her
- 10:33Speaker 2: outfit was insane.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Very fitting.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I'll get into Maura in a second.
- 10:42Speaker 2: But yes, I agree. I was not super excited about that.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I will say a behind the scenes kind of thing
- 10:49Speaker 2: is at least when I was on the show, I
- 10:52Speaker 2: didn't have any impact in deciding what I was going
- 10:56Speaker 2: to wear.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You were just kind of told. A costume was created.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I was told, yep.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Is it called a costume, Trista?
- 11:04Speaker 3: It's a dance.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I don't know what, yes, in the dance world, that's
- 11:09Speaker 3: what you call it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Your costume.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yes, so I would call it that. I might be
- 11:16Speaker 2: blanking on the word. There might be a better word
- 11:18Speaker 2: for it, but you know my impossible brain.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Well, either way, it just wasn't wonderful.
- 11:22Speaker 3: No, I agree.
- 11:23Speaker 2: But I think that what I was going to say
- 11:25Speaker 2: is the choreographer usually gets to decide what the costume
- 11:30Speaker 2: looks like. And if you'll notice, all the girl pros
- 11:34Speaker 2: are on it. Like, their costumes are gorgeous and very, like, flattering.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Flattering.
- 11:42Speaker 3: They're very flattering. But I understand what you're saying.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I think now that you have pointed that out to me, See,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I get on to our producer, Heather, because I can
- 11:52Speaker 1: never watch TV the same now. But now that you
- 11:54Speaker 1: guys are pointing these things out, enlightening me, if you will,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I won't be able to see it any differently now.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Because just looking back at last night's episode in particular,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I can see it. The women with the designs of
- 12:08Speaker 1: the wardrobe versus the men, that feels pretty on point.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And while we're talking about wardrobe, I know we went
- 12:14Speaker 1: off on our little rant last night on our text message.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So we'll do this real quick. I hated Julianne's outfit.
- 12:20Speaker 1: She is so cute and petite and bubbly, and I
- 12:25Speaker 1: love everything about her for the most part. Her dress
- 12:28Speaker 1: looked like a doily. I hated it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I did not like it. I actually saw her post,
- 12:33Speaker 2: and it's YSL.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I hated it. I don't care which designer it was.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I don't care. I agree. And I even had that thought, Trisha,
- 12:41Speaker 1: where I was like, oh, this is probably a designer dress. Like,
- 12:43Speaker 1: of course, blah, blah, blah.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Totally.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It did not do her any justice whatsoever. I hated
- 12:48Speaker 1: the weird lace underneath the neck and then the weird
- 12:52Speaker 1: on the sleeves. And then it was a different color
- 12:54Speaker 1: lace skirt. The colors.
- 12:55Speaker 3: It was terrible.
- 12:56Speaker 1: The colors did not vibe together. It was terrible. At all.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And am I a fashion designer? No, but I felt
- 13:04Speaker 2: like it was just basic. Like, you don't put these
- 13:07Speaker 2: colors together. It also looked like a knit sweater dress
- 13:11Speaker 2: or something like that with this gorgeous lace.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, no. No. Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And usually... I know.
- 13:18Speaker 2: That Heather, our producer, said that she doesn't usually like
- 13:22Speaker 2: her fashion, or maybe you did. I actually, a lot
- 13:25Speaker 2: of times, I like what she's wearing.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, that's so different, or that's so cool.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Last night, nope. I was like, yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: No, it was a miss.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I don't like it. It was a miss.
- 13:46Speaker 1: But you know what was not a miss? You know
- 13:49Speaker 1: what was not a miss? My boy, Tyler. I will
- 13:54Speaker 1: tell you, I'm getting so much flack on Instagram from
- 13:57Speaker 1: people who are like, girl. Calm down. That is so rude.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He has a fiance. I'm like, y'all, if you know
- 14:03Speaker 1: me well, I am just living in my delusional dreams
- 14:06Speaker 1: over here. I in no way, shape, or form would
- 14:09Speaker 1: like to break up Tyler Cameron's engagement. I do not
- 14:13Speaker 1: even know this person, this man. I've never met him
- 14:17Speaker 1: in my entire life. I'm just living in my delusional
- 14:20Speaker 1: world over here, Trista. And I got all of my
- 14:24Speaker 1: dreams fulfilled last night, and so did... The rest of America.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I know that I'm not alone because on top of that,
- 14:31Speaker 1: I did get other DMs of women who were like, girl,
- 14:33Speaker 1: I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one
- 14:35Speaker 1: who is dreaming about this man in the middle of
- 14:37Speaker 1: the night when I haven't even met him in real life. Okay,
- 14:42Speaker 1: dance is not his thing, Trista. If we could just
- 14:44Speaker 1: give our boy Tyler a hot minute. Dance is not
- 14:48Speaker 1: his thing. It gives very Beauty and the Beast for me.
- 14:53Speaker 1: He looks like a big man on the dance floor.
- 14:55Speaker 1: He looks like a big man. And then he took
- 14:59Speaker 1: his shirt off.
- 15:01Speaker 3: And then the fireworks happened.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So, like, if I had to suffer through that dance,
- 15:06Speaker 1: at least he did it looking like a Greek god.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah. He looked good.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And that's what he was.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he looked amazing. And I love that his fiance
- 15:16Speaker 2: is on the side screaming for him.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Like, it's the best. It's so cute. I love her.
- 15:22Speaker 1: She is so cute. Listen, I could go on a
- 15:25Speaker 1: double date with both of them. It wouldn't bother me
- 15:27Speaker 1: one bit. I like them both. Yes. But, you know,
- 15:30Speaker 1: the judges had a lot to say about his dance
- 15:35Speaker 1: last night. It was not... salsa. Not that I know
- 15:39Speaker 1: a whole lot about salsa, but at least know some salsa.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And I, it wasn't giving salsa to me, but like,
- 15:46Speaker 1: he's so beautiful. He's so beautiful. Like, that's all I
- 15:49Speaker 1: can say.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I know. I do think he should have gotten a
- 15:52Speaker 2: little bit higher scores. He got one six and two fives.
- 15:55Speaker 2: And I thought the fives were like, Maybe you should
- 15:58Speaker 2: have gotten two sixes and one fives, I thought. So yes,
- 16:01Speaker 2: I totally agree. Not enough content, not enough salsa content.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And that is what the assignment is. They're supposed to
- 16:10Speaker 2: perform this particular genre, right?
- 16:14Speaker 3: But the lifts were insanity.
- 16:18Speaker 1: The first one where Sharna is laying like on the
- 16:22Speaker 1: ground and he just picks her up from the ground
- 16:25Speaker 1: and shoots her right up.
- 16:27Speaker 3: And she's, I think, upside down. It was insane. And
- 16:31Speaker 3: then the last one, she nearly hit. I mean, you
- 16:35Speaker 3: saw people's jaws were to the ground. She nearly hit,
- 16:38Speaker 3: smacked her face.
- 16:39Speaker 1: On the floor.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I was so stressed.
- 16:41Speaker 1: That he was going to bust her gorgeous face. I
- 16:44Speaker 1: was like, oh, thank you, God, that he didn't smash
- 16:47Speaker 1: her face into the dance floor.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I was really stressed out. I don't know how those
- 16:53Speaker 2: pros do it. They just fully trust. I mean, that's
- 16:56Speaker 2: when you know that the partnership, there's trust in the
- 16:59Speaker 2: partnership by those kind of lifts. And I'm glad that
- 17:02Speaker 2: he got to show off the fact that he could lift.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But I do think, as the choreographer, Sharna should have
- 17:07Speaker 2: included a bit more salsa.
- 17:09Speaker 1: So yeah. Let's see your hips, Tyler. Let's see what
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're working with.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. Like she should. Deanna is like, let's.
- 17:19Speaker 1: See what you're working with. I wasn't trying to be dirty.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I really wasn't. I was not trying to be dirty.
- 17:23Speaker 1: But like, let's see your hips move.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Let's see your hips swing. Just so I'll have some
- 17:28Speaker 3: content for my dream land. See?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Join me. Join me in delusional land, Trista. It is
- 17:35Speaker 1: warm and cozy over here. And I'm telling you, Trista,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I am not alone. I did have several people reach
- 17:44Speaker 1: out to me and one woman in particular was like,
- 17:46Speaker 1: please do not say my name or share this because
- 17:48Speaker 1: my husband would roll over.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Oh, that's hysterical.
- 17:51Speaker 1: He also dreams about Tyler Cameron. I'm not alone. I'm
- 17:54Speaker 1: not alone.
- 17:55Speaker 3: You're most definitely not alone.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So Tyler, if you're listening, you live rent-free in many,
- 18:00Speaker 1: many brains. I love it. Oh, we should move on
- 18:05Speaker 1: because I can spend our entire half hour talking about this.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I know you could. I know you could.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I will say that move that he did, like hitting
- 18:13Speaker 2: his hips, I was like, eh, I.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Don't like that. It looked very caveman, like to me.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It looked very like stripper show. What's the Vegas shows?
- 18:23Speaker 3: Oh, Magic Bike?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, like it was kind of like that. I was like,
- 18:27Speaker 2: that's not salsa. Like maybe do something that's more salsa.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I don't know. Okay, so moving on. We're on to
- 18:34Speaker 2: Julia Stiles and Ezra.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Love, love, love.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I freaking love Ezra.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Love, love, love.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Love both of them. She actually got the same score
- 18:42Speaker 2: as Tyler. I thought she did way better than Tyler.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Okay, I'm glad you said it. I agree.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yes, I don't know.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Maybe I had to think in my head. I have
- 18:56Speaker 1: you and Heather in my head now, but maybe it's
- 18:58Speaker 1: because she will go far. So maybe they're not giving
- 19:01Speaker 1: her high scores at this moment. I don't know. What
- 19:04Speaker 1: do you think? Am I wrong?
- 19:06Speaker 2: I don't know if you can assume that someone's going
- 19:09Speaker 2: to go far, kind of the same argument of Jenna
- 19:12Speaker 2: and Val. Like, yes, I feel like she is proving
- 19:17Speaker 2: that she can dance. And I loved the routine.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I guess I'm just a one-off, but I thought As
- 19:25Speaker 1: I said with Tyler, I feel like she should have
- 19:27Speaker 1: gotten higher scores, but I felt like she definitely did
- 19:29Speaker 1: better than Tyler and Sharna based on the content. She
- 19:33Speaker 1: should have got an extra five for those arms.
- 19:36Speaker 3: An extra five.
- 19:37Speaker 1: An extra five for her arms.
- 19:38Speaker 3: You like extra credit.
- 19:40Speaker 1: She needs extra credit for how whatever Pilates she's doing.
- 19:45Speaker 1: She needs extra credit.
- 19:46Speaker 3: That would be amazing. That would be a cool twist
- 19:48Speaker 3: if they actually.
- 19:50Speaker 1: actually gave extra credit for I don't know what. But
- 19:53Speaker 1: that's hysterical. Because your arms are so toned, you get
- 19:56Speaker 1: five extra points. Oh, gosh. And I love Teddy Swimms.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I do too. It's a great song. Great choice of
- 20:06Speaker 1: song for them. The dance matched it very well. Like
- 20:08Speaker 1: their whole thing for me, I'm with you. I think
- 20:11Speaker 1: they should have had a higher score because their whole
- 20:12Speaker 1: thing for me was like on point. Like they were
- 20:14Speaker 1: one of my faves last night.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, they did great. Okay.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Jackson and Emma are next and they've been going back
- 20:22Speaker 2: and forth to bananas games. I love the behind the scenes.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Like when they show that they're actually like doing real
- 20:28Speaker 2: things and not being just in the dance studio rehearsing,
- 20:32Speaker 2: you know, like I like seeing their real life. Um,
- 20:35Speaker 2: and I loved seeing that and the fact that the
- 20:38Speaker 2: bananas crowd is loving on Emma.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Well, I told you that it is, it is on
- 20:44Speaker 1: my list. I really want to go to a Savannah
- 20:46Speaker 1: bananas game. It is like on my list. I really
- 20:49Speaker 1: want to go. When you think about what they have
- 20:53Speaker 1: to do, like baseball players just have to be able
- 20:55Speaker 1: to play ball. Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But the Bananas, they have to be able to sing
- 21:00Speaker 1: and dance. It's not like they have to be, like, great.
- 21:03Speaker 1: But they have to be able to carry a tune
- 21:05Speaker 1: and catch a beat. You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Sing and dance and perform. And then also be good
- 21:11Speaker 1: at baseball. Yeah. Like, he did really well last night.
- 21:16Speaker 1: He did really well. I hope he gets the votes
- 21:19Speaker 1: that he needs tonight. this season because I think that
- 21:23Speaker 1: he could perform really well. I'm not so sure he's
- 21:26Speaker 1: going to be the champion here, but I think he
- 21:29Speaker 1: stands to really improve every single week and showcase some
- 21:35Speaker 1: really good dancing.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I agree.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I think he's a solid, solid castmate this season. I
- 21:42Speaker 2: think he's a solid dancer, and I think he'll continue
- 21:45Speaker 2: to surprise us and do a really good job. And
- 21:48Speaker 2: he got all sixes last night. It was like the
- 21:50Speaker 2: par for the night.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah, totally. It was like where you should be if
- 21:54Speaker 3: you're doing a good job.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And then if you're falling a little bit short, then
- 21:59Speaker 2: you can kind of gauge it on that.
- 22:00Speaker 1: When will we start seeing some better scores, Trista? I
- 22:04Speaker 1: think next week we'll have maybe an eight or two.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I have to guess.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Maybe just one.
- 22:11Speaker 2: And then they'll start gradually coming after that.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I mean.
- 22:17Speaker 2: They don't want to give, like we said in the
- 22:19Speaker 2: first episode, tens right out the gate because then you
- 22:23Speaker 2: have nothing to look forward to. So they're a bit
- 22:27Speaker 2: more critical in the beginning, as they should be. And
- 22:32Speaker 2: the fact of the matter is that a lot of
- 22:33Speaker 2: these people have never danced ballroom.
- 22:35Speaker 3: So they need.
- 22:37Speaker 1: To be critical in order to get them to improve,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you know, and to be able to give them good
- 22:43Speaker 1: feedback so that they can improve. All right.
- 22:57Speaker 2: So we've got Giada and Alan, and I just want,
- 23:00Speaker 2: we don't have much time left to chat, but I
- 23:03Speaker 2: do want to talk about them for just a second
- 23:06Speaker 2: because you could sense the tension between them. And I think,
- 23:10Speaker 2: you know, in our texts last night with each other,
- 23:13Speaker 2: we were talking about how how they don't really show
- 23:16Speaker 2: that a lot these days. I feel like in the
- 23:19Speaker 2: beginning of this show, they did a little bit. I
- 23:21Speaker 2: definitely felt tension with my partner because it's a really
- 23:25Speaker 2: freaking pressure cooker, stressful environment, so stressful. And if you've
- 23:29Speaker 2: never done this before, and you're worried about dancing in
- 23:31Speaker 2: front of millions of people and eyes all on you
- 23:35Speaker 2: in the ballroom, It's really, really stressful. So I totally
- 23:40Speaker 2: understand where she felt overwhelmed. She's totally doing something outside
- 23:45Speaker 2: of her comfort zone. But I do feel like the
- 23:49Speaker 2: scores were appropriate. They gave her three fours, and I
- 23:52Speaker 2: believe she was the lowest scores of the night, unfortunately.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I concur. Connor Wood, who is, I mean, he's literally
- 24:01Speaker 1: Tom Holland. That's who he looks like. Yes, you're so right.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I cannot... look at him and not see Tom Holland.
- 24:07Speaker 3: You're right.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So my friend Connor slash Tom. My friend. He's so cute.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They are so cute. They did the tango. It was,
- 24:16Speaker 1: you know.
- 24:19Speaker 3: It was really good.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It was really good. He is someone who we have
- 24:24Speaker 1: seen improvement. I realize it's only week two, but he improved.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He did really good. He got all fives, 15 out
- 24:30Speaker 1: of 30. So, you know, I am excited to see
- 24:33Speaker 1: him thrive in this show. I think he's a cutie
- 24:35Speaker 1: patootie Tom Holland comedian man.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Totally agree. Love them.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Love them together. I don't know if they're single, but
- 24:43Speaker 1: they really would be cute together. I'm just saying. They
- 24:45Speaker 1: could live happily ever after. Yeah. And I think she
- 24:50Speaker 1: did a really great job of choreography. I love that
- 24:53Speaker 1: Carrie Ann said that. The choreography was really great. And
- 24:57Speaker 1: I love that even though it's dancing with the stars, right?
- 25:02Speaker 1: They are still giving our pros some props here. Like
- 25:05Speaker 1: it is no small feat what those guys are doing.
- 25:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I'm so glad that she
- 25:09Speaker 1: noted that at the very end. She said, great job, girl. So, uh, yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Um, okay.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Next is our favorite. Probably.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I'm going to say that because he's, he's probably my
- 25:19Speaker 1: favorite and I.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Just love him.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Ezra. And Daniela, I just cannot get enough of them.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I love him so much. He makes it look easy.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And that's not easy for anyone to do, even with
- 25:37Speaker 1: your biologically given leg, which he does not have. He
- 25:41Speaker 1: is amazing. He moves like a dancer, Trista.
- 25:45Speaker 3: You know what I noticed?
- 25:46Speaker 1: I know. I noticed that his hips move. Okay. So
- 25:49Speaker 1: I was just talking about Tyler. His hips are not moving, right? Ezra,
- 25:52Speaker 1: his hips were moving. Like he looks like a dancer
- 25:55Speaker 1: out there.
- 25:55Speaker 3: He does.
- 25:56Speaker 2: He is blowing me away. Like I did not even
- 25:59Speaker 2: know who he was coming into this competition. And now
- 26:02Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw on Instagram, Ellen posted
- 26:05Speaker 2: a video of when he was on the Ellen show
- 26:08Speaker 2: when he was little. You have to go look for it.
- 26:10Speaker 2: It's so sweet and so cute. He just talks about
- 26:13Speaker 2: what kind of sports he does. And oh my gosh,
- 26:16Speaker 2: I am just He is growing on me every single
- 26:20Speaker 2: week and just showing the world that it does not
- 26:24Speaker 2: matter what your abilities are, what your God-given strengths are,
- 26:31Speaker 2: that you can do anything that you put your mind to.
- 26:34Speaker 3: I love Him.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Well, it shows He got a 21 out
- 26:38Speaker 1: of 30 last night, so no need to say more.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He's amazing.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 3: He was amazing.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Tatiana and Jan, they were great last night. Way to
- 26:46Speaker 1: see some serious improvement in her from the first week.
- 26:50Speaker 1: And again, I'm no dancer, so I could imagine the
- 26:52Speaker 1: nerves and everything else and just getting comfortable with the
- 26:56Speaker 1: chemistry with your partner. She improved so much last night.
- 27:00Speaker 1: That score was an 18 out of 30, and I
- 27:02Speaker 1: thought it was well-deserved. Yeah, I agree.
- 27:05Speaker 3: She did a good job.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 2: And Foxtrot is hard. So I give that up to her.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Amber and Pasha are next. They did a great job.
- 27:13Speaker 2: They got all sevens. I will say, as we mentioned
- 27:17Speaker 2: last week, when she performed her feet, get me, she
- 27:20Speaker 2: needs to point her toes.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Like this is just very basic dance. And I feel
- 27:26Speaker 3: like they are not calling that out. And I wish
- 27:28Speaker 3: they would. It's the feet for me. I get stuck
- 27:31Speaker 3: in the feet. She's great.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But I just feel like There are some basic things
- 27:35Speaker 2: that I wish they would call out.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Her lifts, real quick before we move on, her lifts
- 27:39Speaker 1: still look very ice skater to me.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I totally agree. She doesn't get a lot of height.
- 27:45Speaker 2: And I feel like because she's used to doing it
- 27:48Speaker 2: on ice, so I feel like you're right.
- 27:50Speaker 1: She very much looked like in that last lift, I
- 27:53Speaker 1: just thought, oh, I mean, she's incredible. So like if
- 27:56Speaker 1: we're nitpicking here. Let's please. I can barely Roger Rabbit,
- 28:00Speaker 1: let alone do what these people are doing. But her
- 28:03Speaker 1: lift to me, she might as well had skates on.
- 28:06Speaker 1: It was still stunning. Still gorgeous. But she might as
- 28:09Speaker 1: well have had skates on.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Guillermo and Whitney.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I love Guillermo. I know that he's not the best dancer.
- 28:16Speaker 3: And I know that.
- 28:19Speaker 2: You know, he's going to get lower scores, but I
- 28:21Speaker 2: love him. I love that he's trying and he really
- 28:24Speaker 2: hit everything last night. The, you know, one thing I
- 28:27Speaker 2: will say about Emma and Jackson is that she calls
- 28:30Speaker 2: out everything. You can see her saying what's coming next
- 28:34Speaker 2: to her partner every season.
- 28:37Speaker 3: This is what happens.
- 28:38Speaker 2: And it was very obvious that she was doing that
- 28:41Speaker 2: in the last night's episode. I feel like Guillermo could
- 28:44Speaker 2: probably use all of that as well. But you don't
- 28:47Speaker 2: see Whitney doing that a lot of the dance. Like
- 28:50Speaker 2: Emma's doing it the entire dance. Whitney wasn't doing that.
- 28:53Speaker 2: And I love that he actually got it. And I
- 28:57Speaker 2: give huge props to Whitney because she did make the
- 29:00Speaker 2: choreography simple enough. where it let him shine, let him
- 29:05Speaker 2: do his thing. And maybe not like as good as
- 29:08Speaker 2: Jenna Dewan, but he really did a great job. I,
- 29:12Speaker 2: I love them.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm with you, Trista.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Um, Taylor and Brit, you know, I know there's this
- 29:19Speaker 2: whole huge, um, fan base for Taylor. I, I, I
- 29:25Speaker 2: don't know. I have yet to be kind of sold
- 29:29Speaker 2: on him and, um, I thought the routine last night
- 29:33Speaker 2: really fell flat, and it wasn't.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, the first night, uh, the first week I,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I really was rooting for him, but you know, maybe
- 29:43Speaker 1: this just, I'm wishy-washy when it comes to competition, I guess,
- 29:46Speaker 1: because last night I was not as, uh, gung-ho about,
- 29:50Speaker 1: or about Taylor. Yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 2: And it's the same, it's kind of the like turned
- 29:55Speaker 2: in feet, um, His hands, like, you know, were like,
- 30:00Speaker 2: they call them like pancake hands.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I feel like those two little things... are just something
- 30:07Speaker 1: that are so basic. But I know, I mean, I
- 30:10Speaker 1: give grace because I know how hard it is when
- 30:13Speaker 1: you haven't done ballroom and you have to pick up
- 30:15Speaker 1: all these little things. Like I remember doing the waltz
- 30:18Speaker 1: and Louie was like, you need to put your pinky
- 30:20Speaker 1: finger up.
- 30:21Speaker 3: And I was like, really? Like, I need to worry
- 30:23Speaker 3: about my pinky finger when I'm trying.
- 30:25Speaker 1: To- All the things that your mind must have to
- 30:27Speaker 1: do while you're out there twirling. Like, first off, don't trip,
- 30:30Speaker 1: don't fall. Don't die. But also like remember your pinky.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Make sure your head is broken. Make sure your shoulders
- 30:36Speaker 1: are back. Like everything that you have to try to
- 30:38Speaker 1: remember that these pros must do like the back of
- 30:40Speaker 1: their hand.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 1: So it's a lot. I can't. I know.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And then we've got Harry and Jenna. And I thought
- 30:50Speaker 2: that it was great. I will say that scream in
- 30:53Speaker 2: the middle of the routine because we didn't have any
- 30:56Speaker 2: background story on it. Like it just came out of
- 30:59Speaker 2: nowhere and I was like, whoa, what's that for? I mean,
- 31:01Speaker 2: he kind of explained it afterwards, but I wish they
- 31:04Speaker 2: would have given that some time in the backstory.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean?
- 31:10Speaker 1: Yeah. A little bit of explanation would have been nice.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Maura and Mark, you know, I cannot believe that she's
- 31:17Speaker 1: not a dancer, Trista. I think she moves beautifully. And
- 31:23Speaker 1: I have to admit, I expected very little from her.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Coming into this. Yeah. She moves. I hear what you're
- 31:31Speaker 1: saying when you said with the pros, when they pair them, right?
- 31:34Speaker 1: Some of these pros have been around for a really
- 31:37Speaker 1: long time and they are incredible dancers. They know how
- 31:39Speaker 1: to perform. They give off this Aurora really about them. Mark.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I know even without watching the show, he's been around forever. Yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Two of them are really, really great. I know.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I love this partnership. I love this partnership. I, Love her.
- 31:58Speaker 2: And Derek said it best. He was like, you're like
- 32:01Speaker 2: a fashion designer's sketch that's come to life. I'm like,
- 32:04Speaker 2: that is the perfect way to describe her. I feel
- 32:08Speaker 2: like she's this just gorgeous human being.
- 32:12Speaker 1: But she also moves elegantly. And she does.
- 32:15Speaker 3: She does it great job.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Her arms, her legs. It's like everything is one piece
- 32:19Speaker 1: of her where like I would have to think, okay,
- 32:20Speaker 1: move arm now. Now move leg. Her body moves in unison.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Like she doesn't even have to try, Trista. Yeah. Well,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and she was struggling this week from the background story.
- 32:32Speaker 1: You know, she was struggling really bad.
- 32:35Speaker 2: And I think this is just a testament to their
- 32:38Speaker 2: partnership that he was able to get her through and
- 32:41Speaker 2: keep her from being super stressed out to where she
- 32:43Speaker 2: blacked out during the routine and didn't remember anything. Like,
- 32:46Speaker 2: and she also performs so well. Like she's looking at
- 32:50Speaker 2: the camera, like winking.
- 32:52Speaker 3: And you know what I mean?
- 32:52Speaker 2: And also the connection between them when they're dancing.
- 32:57Speaker 3: I just, chef's kiss.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And we can't skip over the fact that she chipped
- 33:00Speaker 1: Mark's tooth in rehearsal. Not that Mark is going to
- 33:05Speaker 1: have a chipped tooth forever, but like, I need sometimes
- 33:10Speaker 1: those pieces of just like real, realness. I need that.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I need to see that because sometimes we put these
- 33:18Speaker 1: people on a pedestal, right? We look at them like
- 33:21Speaker 1: they're better than or more than or something like that.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And I need little moments like that. Like, okay. Okay.
- 33:27Speaker 1: She chipped Mark Ballas' tooth in rehearsal. Oopsies.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Okay, so bottom three was Guillermo, Tyler, and Giada, and
- 33:36Speaker 2: Giada ended up leaving. And I will say I wasn't
- 33:39Speaker 2: shocked necessarily. Were you shocked that Tyler was in the bottom?
- 33:44Speaker 3: No.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I mean, in my heart of hearts, yes, my poor
- 33:49Speaker 1: man in bottom three. Okay. But given what we're really
- 33:54Speaker 1: here for is dancing, no, I wasn't. And Guillermo being
- 33:58Speaker 1: there again, I was not shocked by that either. I
- 34:01Speaker 1: think his time is coming. But no, I thought it
- 34:04Speaker 1: was very fitting giving the dancing, giving the skill, given
- 34:09Speaker 1: the score. I thought it was appropriate. I agree. But
- 34:13Speaker 1: if he goes home soon, will I be able to
- 34:16Speaker 1: continue to show up for you, Trista? I'm unsure. You will.
- 34:21Speaker 1: You will.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Because you have to.
- 34:23Speaker 1: No. Right, right.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Because I can't do it by myself. But yes, I'm
- 34:29Speaker 2: sure Tyler will be in the ballroom if he leaves. So,
- 34:32Speaker 2: you know, you'll still probably have glimpses on him. And girlfriend,
- 34:35Speaker 2: he's on social media. You just go follow him.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I know. I don't follow any of them. I just don't.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I'm like, I can't have one more thing to obsess over, Trista.
- 34:43Speaker 1: It's already too much. I'm like so busy cheering on
- 34:45Speaker 1: all my girls. He was probably in kindergarten when I
- 34:48Speaker 1: was the bachelorette. Maybe. Maybe.
- 34:51Speaker 3: I'm a dirty bird.
- 34:52Speaker 1: That's what I called myself last night. I'm a dirty bird. Please.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I don't think he was even born when I was
- 34:57Speaker 3: a bachelorette.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Two dirty birds here.
- 35:02Speaker 1: This has been great. I am looking forward to next
- 35:04Speaker 1: week's episode so I can just keep dirty birding all day. Okay.
