- 1:01Speaker 2: But if you want to join the conversation, we are
- 1:03Speaker 2: at hello at Girls Gonehomemark dot com.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Why don't we kick off our discussion of The Foresights
- 1:08Speaker 1: with a synopsis of this episode.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Joe hopes to.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Fulfill newfound obligation, while James's attempts to sabotage him intensify,
- 1:17Speaker 2: June seeks solace with Philip Solme's promises, Irene a move
- 1:21Speaker 2: to Paris and support for her dancing.
- 1:25Speaker 1: All of our main cast returns in this episode, and
- 1:30Speaker 1: it's a long list, so we're not going to go
- 1:31Speaker 1: through it and find it on our website, Girls Gonehollmark
- 1:34Speaker 1: dot com. The link to our complete show notes is
- 1:36Speaker 1: always in the show notes on whatever app you're listening to.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The entire cast and crew is listed there. Hey, Wendy,
- 1:43Speaker 1: what was your first impression of this episode of the Foresights?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, I think Montague is one promotion away from taking
- 1:50Speaker 2: over Foresight and co oh, the man is Fumblinawards.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I think Monty might be the biggest villain in this show.
- 1:58Speaker 1: For me, my first impression is Grandmamma is that girl? Oh? Right?
- 2:05Speaker 2: In my notes, I'm like, yeah, Anne, you go on, Anne,
- 2:08Speaker 2: like so many times, so so many times? Can I
- 2:12Speaker 2: start with Anne in my on? You know she's quietly
- 2:17Speaker 2: running things, yeah, and maybe even not so quietly. She's observant, sharp,
- 2:23Speaker 2: she's not afraid to call things out when needed.
- 2:26Speaker 3: She's so easily could be the villain here, I know,
- 2:29Speaker 3: But she's not. She's not.
- 2:31Speaker 2: She is warm, she's likable, a little bit scary, uh huh,
- 2:37Speaker 2: But I kind of love it when she's in the
- 2:41Speaker 2: boardroom and she fully claps back at these men who
- 2:44Speaker 2: are like, Oh, this is gonna ruin our family or
- 2:48Speaker 2: be a bad look on our family, and she's like,
- 2:51Speaker 2: you know, this is not the first time.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah, she without sins yet exactly.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You would expect her, as the matriarch of the family
- 2:59Speaker 1: to be the one who's so entrenched in tradition, and
- 3:04Speaker 1: she looks at things with.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Such a modern eye.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yeah, she's so observant and aware, as you said, And
- 3:12Speaker 1: the way that she's fully aware more than anybody of
- 3:16Speaker 1: what is going to happen with Solmes, The way she
- 3:19Speaker 1: recognized what June is going through, the way she sees
- 3:22Speaker 1: the reality of Joe's situation and calls.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Everybody to the table on it. She is my favorite.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I'm gonna need her to figure out if Joe Senior
- 3:33Speaker 2: and Francis have something going on. Oh is this going
- 3:36Speaker 2: to be a blind side to Anne if that's the
- 3:39Speaker 2: way we're moving.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I mean, I have big suspicions about it. I just
- 3:43Speaker 3: see her being like, told.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You just in the background, like, what do you mean
- 3:48Speaker 1: that's a surprise to you, Joe, what do you mean?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Look?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Speaking of women, I loved I really enjoyed Emily in
- 3:55Speaker 1: this episode Solmes's Mommy. Now we start if Slam's revealing
- 4:01Speaker 1: at the dinner table that he's going to be bringing
- 4:04Speaker 1: a woman to the races the next day, and they
- 4:07Speaker 1: all assume it's Olivia Carter except Grandmama. However, I did
- 4:12Speaker 1: love like when Irene walks in, Grandmama kind of squeaks,
- 4:15Speaker 1: she like sees her, and she kind of was like, well, look,
- 4:18Speaker 1: the parents look completely dismayed at this, right. But the
- 4:22Speaker 1: way Emily processes all of this, she cares more about
- 4:28Speaker 1: her son and losing her son than about what this
- 4:33Speaker 1: match means to their family, which is a little.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Surprising because I thought in the earlier episodes one and
- 4:39Speaker 2: two she was kind of.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Ooh, a cartero it, Yes, yes, And I think I agree,
- 4:46Speaker 1: And I wonder if that's because this is a family
- 4:49Speaker 1: with similar goals, and so if he marries into the
- 4:52Speaker 1: Carteret family, then perhaps they would stay in each other's lives.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But here there's several scenes we see her speaking to
- 5:03Speaker 1: James and James is so dismayed about what this means
- 5:06Speaker 1: for the family. James is like, what does love matter?
- 5:09Speaker 1: And she comes right back with quite a lot actually,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and then she says, I think I rather envy him
- 5:15Speaker 1: and the look she is giving James, And I was like,
- 5:18Speaker 1: we saw her as just this flighty woman with her puppy,
- 5:21Speaker 1: when in reality, I think she's lonely. I think she's
- 5:25Speaker 1: in a loveless marriage. She doesn't have a lot of
- 5:28Speaker 1: respect from her husband, doesn't really have a lot of
- 5:31Speaker 1: respect from her son either, who who didn't have the
- 5:34Speaker 1: courtesy to let her in in advance, let her be
- 5:37Speaker 1: blindsided by him bringing Irene, And she's just trying to
- 5:41Speaker 1: find joy where she can. And at the wedding, James
- 5:46Speaker 1: is so mad and making snide remarks, and she just
- 5:49Speaker 1: looks at him with love. Yeah, she just loves him.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I know, how hard as it all is.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I didn't really track all that stuff until they have
- 5:58Speaker 2: that moment when James and Emily sit down with Solmes
- 6:02Speaker 2: and James says, your mom's very upset, and she turns
- 6:05Speaker 2: and looks at him. I was like, Oh, she's not
- 6:08Speaker 2: very upset, and James is putting it on her because
- 6:11Speaker 2: James kind of a real jerk, is putting it on
- 6:15Speaker 2: Emily here, huh, And I don't like any of that.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And Somes knows so, yeah, is fully aware of James's
- 6:24Speaker 2: social climbing tendencies and how even in the beginning of
- 6:28Speaker 2: the episode, James seems to be talking about how they're
- 6:30Speaker 2: gonna oust Joe and Somelme's doesn't seem to be as
- 6:33Speaker 2: all in on the plant. Can I stop you there? Yes,
- 6:37Speaker 2: in this moment, I was like, look, Somelmes is not
- 6:40Speaker 2: a bad boy here.
- 6:41Speaker 1: No.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think in that particular scene, we see a glimpse
- 6:48Speaker 2: of Solmes has a little bit of a moral compass,
- 6:50Speaker 2: like he's like, what, like, back off? I it redeemed Solmes.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I'm already a Holmes fan, but I feel like maybe
- 7:01Speaker 2: for you that scene might have redeemed Solmes as being
- 7:04Speaker 2: like a decent guy.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 1: In last episode I started, you know, we see this
- 7:08Speaker 1: softer side of Solmes as he's falling in love with
- 7:11Speaker 1: Irene and he seems do willing to genuinely care for
- 7:14Speaker 1: her and be willing to do anything for her. That
- 7:17Speaker 1: continues through this episode. And I think because he's fallen
- 7:21Speaker 1: for Irene, he can maybe understand Joe a little bit
- 7:26Speaker 1: and how Joe could have ended up in this situation.
- 7:29Speaker 1: You know, you can't just fall in line and do
- 7:32Speaker 1: what the family expects to.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Do all the time.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Right, Speaking of SLMs for a second, Yeah, I'm this
- 7:38Speaker 2: whole relationship with Irene. I'll get to Irene in a second,
- 7:42Speaker 2: But Solms. I find it fascinating sometimes I'm like, is
- 7:46Speaker 2: he just like fully obsessed with her? Or what is
- 7:51Speaker 2: his motivation here? Oh? I mean, because he's all in,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm wondering does he who? Oh? Is he looking at
- 8:01Speaker 2: Irene as a vehicle to bounce because she wants to
- 8:08Speaker 2: go to Paris to dance.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And he says like, we'll go.
- 8:10Speaker 2: How is that going to work? I don't know. But
- 8:13Speaker 2: he's like keep it on the down low, basically remote.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I know.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That's why I think maybe he wants to get away
- 8:20Speaker 2: from all of the toxic family stuff, and maybe he
- 8:24Speaker 2: just doesn't have the balls to tell his dad like
- 8:26Speaker 2: I don't want to run this business, even though in
- 8:28Speaker 2: episode one it seemed to me like he was fully in.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Yeah ousting joke.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, So I don't know exactly what's going on there,
- 8:39Speaker 2: but into it Okay, I want to talk about Irene
- 8:41Speaker 2: for a second. Yeah, she has this whole conversation with
- 8:44Speaker 2: Anne and basically admits, like I have concepts of love, yes, right,
- 8:53Speaker 2: Like she's not there yet, like I don't. The actor
- 8:55Speaker 2: who plays Storms is so good looking to me. I'm like,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I don't know how you're not like hypnotized by his
- 9:01Speaker 2: good looks and he is falling all over himself. Even
- 9:04Speaker 2: maybe she's got the ick a little bit.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I don't know, but maybe she's also looking at it
- 9:09Speaker 2: as this is an opportunity for me to go do
- 9:13Speaker 2: what I want to do now. Because one, she doesn't
- 9:15Speaker 2: have any money because they lost all their family money. Right,
- 9:18Speaker 2: she's got she doesn't have any family. Your mom and
- 9:20Speaker 2: dad are dad, She's got the stepmom who's not really
- 9:23Speaker 2: connected to So maybe she sees solms as opportunity. Sure,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and that hurts me a little bit.
- 9:31Speaker 3: But also she.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Seems very mysterious too, Like I'm like, what, I'm going
- 9:36Speaker 2: to talk about it in my wishes, So I'll stop
- 9:38Speaker 2: there because it's okay.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Only one wish I have. But she is kind of
- 9:41Speaker 1: a mystery. She is a mystery. Francis Is Stone cold.
- 9:45Speaker 1: In this episode, look true villain. She says that love
- 9:51Speaker 1: has no place in this house. Kill it or face
- 9:54Speaker 1: the consequences.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yikes.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Now again last episode, I was like, we are on
- 10:00Speaker 1: a collision course with disaster in the show, and Joe.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Can't stay away.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And I understand Joe's motivation, and I feel like he's
- 10:09Speaker 1: trying so hard to.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Do the right thing.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And I appreciate that he stands up in every moment
- 10:14Speaker 1: where people are like, we're gonna pay her off, We're
- 10:16Speaker 1: gonna He's like, no, I'm going to handle this. We're
- 10:18Speaker 1: talking about people. I'm not going to make her uproot
- 10:22Speaker 1: her life. I feel like he's trying so hard to
- 10:25Speaker 1: do the right thing.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I agree.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I also feel like he wouldn't be staying away if
- 10:30Speaker 1: Luisa hadn't said to stay away.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Like he tells Francis that was a real love I had.
- 10:37Speaker 1: With her, and I think, you know, he says like
- 10:42Speaker 1: I love you to Francis and he says, I'm I'm
- 10:45Speaker 1: here for this. I don't remember what his lines are,
- 10:48Speaker 1: but he tells her like, you know, we're gonna make
- 10:51Speaker 1: this work. But I wonder if he would be behaving
- 10:54Speaker 1: differently if Luisa hadn't said stay away, if he'd be like, oh, no,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I gotta decide which one of these women I'm gonna
- 10:59Speaker 1: be away?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I do appreciate that Joe is a stand up dude
- 11:07Speaker 2: here he's not. He wants to be part of his
- 11:10Speaker 2: children's lives, and he is standing up to his family.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I hate that his past is being weaponized against him,
- 11:19Speaker 2: Like what is he supposed to do? He's in a
- 11:23Speaker 2: predicament for sure, like he can't time travel back.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Like, I wonder how true.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Of the time is, Meaning would a man in.
- 11:34Speaker 3: This time frame.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Allow his family to pay somebody off and make them go?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh, I absolutely a family of this stature.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so I like I like Joe a lot.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I mean, I like him as much as I like Solmes,
- 11:52Speaker 2: to be honest, Like, I'm not like torn between the
- 11:54Speaker 2: I think these are two like decent human beings. Joe
- 11:57Speaker 2: is really, to me a good guy, especially when his
- 12:04Speaker 2: kids are involved.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I mean, I think the whole Luisa part of it. Yes,
- 12:09Speaker 3: he's probably still obsessed with her.
- 12:10Speaker 2: This was probably one true love and then he had
- 12:13Speaker 2: to go back and family obligation, gets married.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Blah blah blah, blah blah blah. Here we are ten
- 12:17Speaker 1: years later. He's in a terrible predicament.
- 12:20Speaker 3: He really is. I like that he is.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Not playing along with the family, with the family wants
- 12:27Speaker 2: yes and part of me with Francis. I don't buy
- 12:31Speaker 2: that he's like totally in love with Francis. I think,
- 12:33Speaker 2: like this is just where he is in.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Life with Francis.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they made a life together. I think he probably
- 12:41Speaker 1: had affection for her. Sure, I think some dog, you.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Know what I mean?
- 12:45Speaker 1: You know, like, I think they made a good life
- 12:48Speaker 1: and she was a good wife to him. And he
- 12:51Speaker 1: has obviously a lot of affection for his stepdaughter, right,
- 12:55Speaker 1: and that was what he was raised to expect. He
- 12:58Speaker 1: wasn't raised to expect a man marriage of.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Love, right.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't he is in a predicament. He's
- 13:05Speaker 1: in a tough spot. I don't know.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I don't know what so far.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I like the way he's behaving, although again I'm I'm
- 13:11Speaker 1: afraid for the consequences here.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I really enjoy the comic relief of Monty in spite
- 13:17Speaker 3: of the fact that I.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Hate Monty, I dislike his character. Great work on the
- 13:21Speaker 1: actor's part to make me dislike he's just such a blowhard,
- 13:25Speaker 1: totally pompous. I love that scene we get of Winnifred
- 13:29Speaker 1: in the dress shop where we kind of get a
- 13:31Speaker 1: peek behind the curtain of their marriage and she's like, oh,
- 13:33Speaker 1: my husband says like, don't spend too much money. Meanwhile
- 13:35Speaker 1: he blows his entire allowance. I was like, Oh, they're
- 13:38Speaker 1: living off the largesse of her family. Yeah, for sure,
- 13:41Speaker 1: because he doesn't have a job, because her dad is
- 13:45Speaker 1: unwilling to employ him because he knows Monty's completely worthless. Right, So,
- 13:50Speaker 1: first of all, the slow mo we get of Monty
- 13:53Speaker 1: when Miss Peaches starts to lose the race and Josie,
- 13:56Speaker 1: You're like, so close.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Mm, so funny.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And then just like the snide remarks they make when
- 14:02Speaker 1: he like comes like blustering into the office and he's like,
- 14:05Speaker 1: give me a brandy, yeah, you know, and he comes
- 14:07Speaker 1: into the boardroom and I'm like, God, you brought him
- 14:11Speaker 1: in solely for the purpose of having another vote on
- 14:14Speaker 1: your side. Now you're gonna have all of these other
- 14:17Speaker 1: consequences of your actions.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Now. I know you didn't watch Succession.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It did not And I had said in previous previous
- 14:25Speaker 2: episode that listener Georgia said that this show is Succession
- 14:29Speaker 2: meets the Gilded Age, and I cannot help but draw
- 14:32Speaker 2: a comparison. Monty is totally Tom from Succession. Now, if
- 14:40Speaker 2: you guys watch Succession and you know who I'm talking about,
- 14:43Speaker 2: Tom is like the husband of one of the daughters,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and he just like.
- 14:48Speaker 3: He's that bumbling idiot too.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Who at the end of the series spoiler alert inherits
- 14:53Speaker 2: the company. That's why I'm telling you, Tom, I mean,
- 14:57Speaker 2: Monty is going to inherit this foresight in company like
- 15:00Speaker 2: it's gonna happen. Oh man, It's funny to watch. Though.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It is funny, especially because James is such a villain.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm like, well, yeah, I hope this lows back on him.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I hope James gets what he deserves. Like this is,
- 15:12Speaker 1: you know, this is not going to go how he planned.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He's not just going to be his puppet.
- 15:15Speaker 2: There.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Mont's gonna come in there and think that he runs
- 15:18Speaker 1: the place. Give me a Brandy in the day's papers.
- 15:21Speaker 3: You work for me, bitches. Oh my god, I.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Love it all right anymore likes yeah June. Oh, June
- 15:27Speaker 2: is to me one of the strongest stories in this show.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I really enjoy her character. At first, I was like, whatever,
- 15:39Speaker 1: Like she's just this girl who's coming of age. But
- 15:42Speaker 1: she is almost like a newer version of Joe and
- 15:47Speaker 1: Solme's right, like more progressive. She's almost like Anne grandmama,
- 15:54Speaker 1: Like yeah, I like that we see all their time together,
- 15:56Speaker 1: like they have their nightly chat.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I really like.
- 16:00Speaker 1: She's more like Joe to me. I think I think
- 16:03Speaker 1: she's pushing against tradition, right, and she wants more than
- 16:07Speaker 1: the life she's being offered. And we see that she's
- 16:10Speaker 1: starting to have feelings for this bosny dude. Yeah, and
- 16:13Speaker 1: he's obviously not someone her family would choose.
- 16:16Speaker 3: And he knows it just like Louisa knew it.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yes, And I like that she goes to his garrett,
- 16:24Speaker 1: his little apartment.
- 16:26Speaker 3: She's like, oh, I love a Garrett.
- 16:27Speaker 1: You know when like an apartment seems so such like
- 16:30Speaker 1: a romantic idea.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I do you wish like we just saw.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Just a tiny little bit of her at that socialism meeting.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I wish we saw more of like the pushback there,
- 16:43Speaker 1: like maybe there's a little protest happening outside or maybe,
- 16:47Speaker 1: like what it seemed too easy for her to just
- 16:49Speaker 1: walk right in there. I can't imagine that it wasn't
- 16:53Speaker 1: a big deal for this to be happening.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting, but yeah, she's a political renegade. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 2: I'm waiting for like that to implode between her and
- 17:05Speaker 2: Francis's gonna lose it. Her mom's gonna be like, get
- 17:10Speaker 2: in line, get back in line, girl, Like you need
- 17:12Speaker 2: to represent the family, you know whatever. Anyway, I really
- 17:16Speaker 2: liked you well.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Like Francis says to Joe, see, is it that hard
- 17:19Speaker 1: deciding to move on from them? And I just feel
- 17:21Speaker 1: like she's gonna be like, no, shut it down and
- 17:23Speaker 1: move on. Yeah, that love has no place in this.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yes, let's talk wishes.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I only have one okay, and I mentioned it earlier.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It is about Irene and I personally, as I'm watching it,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I need a bit more emotional access to what Irene
- 17:40Speaker 2: is thinking.
- 17:42Speaker 3: She's a mystery.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I have no idea what's going on. Look when they
- 17:46Speaker 2: come this is not a digitue that, but it is
- 17:48Speaker 2: kind of a digits that they when films comes to
- 17:51Speaker 2: present like Irene and Clarissa. Yeah, Irene is dressed like
- 17:56Speaker 2: Mary Poppins.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Oh interesting, it.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Was like this white out with this big yellow bow.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It just was I just thought that was very bridal
- 18:03Speaker 1: and she was wearing white my fair lady.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Oh I yeah know. It was reminded me of something.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I think. She's just so adorable.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And cute, but I'm like, what what's going on here?
- 18:17Speaker 3: She almost you know, she gets cold.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Feet the last minute, you know, she's like, I want
- 18:22Speaker 1: all my parents have and am I going to have that?
- 18:24Speaker 1: And then we see that scene of her dancing kind
- 18:26Speaker 1: of wildly. It's she's like a close up and I
- 18:28Speaker 1: was like, what is what is this telling us?
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah? What are your wishes? You know I don't have.
- 18:34Speaker 1: A ton of wishes. More A question is Joe wearing
- 18:37Speaker 1: a T shirt at the end of the show, like
- 18:39Speaker 1: he's kind of in pajamas. I'm like, that man's in
- 18:41Speaker 1: a white Haynes T shirt and sweats.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Is he in sweat?
- 18:44Speaker 2: It was like an athletic pant.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Like, look, his hair is hairing in this episode. I'm like,
- 18:50Speaker 3: how long?
- 18:51Speaker 1: So fine, he's so attractive, but I'm like, how long
- 18:54Speaker 1: did they have to blow dry? Like that is just
- 18:55Speaker 1: his hair would not look like that. He looks good,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but he's absolutely in a white T shirt and that
- 19:00Speaker 1: would not have been in.
- 19:01Speaker 2: His life if you be like some bed dress or something.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I don't during this time war, but I think so.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Also, like my notes say, I wanted more time at
- 19:11Speaker 1: the wedding. I just love that the ceremony chaps. James
- 19:13Speaker 1: has asked so much, and I could have handled like
- 19:15Speaker 1: sitting in that discomfort a little bit more.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And only really family there not a social event.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Which is so interesting to me.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Is it that big of a deal that Solmes is
- 19:28Speaker 1: marrying a non social climber that they wouldn't have invited
- 19:31Speaker 1: anybody but family?
- 19:33Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, that's odd to me.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Question for you, you were enjoying some of the spice.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Would you think of the spice of what we got
- 19:41Speaker 1: at the end of this episode?
- 19:43Speaker 2: What was it?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Solmscrys irain off the bed.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, I liked it. Yeah, I mean it.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It gave it, implied spice, implied spice exactly. Yeah, And
- 19:55Speaker 2: I was like, oh, she's she's going with the flow.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:57Speaker 2: She wasn't like I don't love you, you know.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'd like to point out the line Monty leaves the
- 20:05Speaker 1: room and James says, does he perform any useful function?
- 20:11Speaker 1: I also love the fact that June and both and
- 20:13Speaker 1: the you call each other Miss Renegade and mister buccaneer.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And he says, you exist to me, Miss Renegade, which
- 20:19Speaker 1: she's like, I don't even exist to my family.
- 20:24Speaker 2: It's great, it was great. I have a question for you, Okay,
- 20:27Speaker 2: I have a couple of discussion questions. Do you think
- 20:31Speaker 2: Joe can realistically have both a place in the family
- 20:34Speaker 2: and a relationship with his children or is he living
- 20:38Speaker 2: in an impossible world?
- 20:40Speaker 1: Yeah? I think it's an impossible choice. There's no way
- 20:43Speaker 1: this ends peacefully. There's no happily ever after for everybody
- 20:47Speaker 1: in this situation.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Now. I felt so bad when the children pulled Joe
- 20:51Speaker 2: into like, I don't whatever dancing or whatever is happening
- 20:55Speaker 2: in the street, juggling or something. Yeah, and then June
- 20:57Speaker 2: sees it, and I was like, oh, how's that feel
- 20:59Speaker 2: to jan Because June is his daughter by marriage and
- 21:04Speaker 2: the only father she's really ever known, and now she
- 21:07Speaker 2: sees oh he is she aware that those are his.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Children at this point? Like does she know? Yeah?
- 21:13Speaker 1: She does, because remember in the end of the last episode,
- 21:17Speaker 1: Oh she overhears.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like this was before your mother, et cetera.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Oh, so she's seeing him with these kids. Do you
- 21:24Speaker 2: think she feels like a twinge of like yeah, because
- 21:27Speaker 2: that's when she runs off to her buccaneer. I know
- 21:31Speaker 2: it was just a really good scene. I know it
- 21:33Speaker 2: was a really good scene. But you don't think he
- 21:35Speaker 2: can have it's gonna a collision course and.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Have it all.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I don't see how he has a relationship with the
- 21:41Speaker 1: children without having a relationship with Louisa.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That's gonna be too hard. And I don't see how the.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Family allows him to have a relationship with the children.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, are we underestimating Francis, I'm not.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I think she's gonna blow this whole thing up. I
- 21:59Speaker 1: think she's the evilest of them all.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm afraid of her.
- 22:04Speaker 3: She's the absolute puppet master.
- 22:06Speaker 1: You know, the way she just taps Joe Senior on
- 22:08Speaker 1: the shoulder and provides him with information, and the way
- 22:10Speaker 1: that they're colluding, and.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I you know, I don't think Joe.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Is as evil as James, but I think Francis is
- 22:18Speaker 1: more evil than both of them. I agree. She also
- 22:22Speaker 1: has the most to lose. She's not a foresight. I'm
- 22:24Speaker 1: sure there's no community property situation in which she gets
- 22:27Speaker 1: alimony for the rest of her life should this go south,
- 22:30Speaker 1: so she has a lot to lose.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Part of me is like wanting Anta shut that shit down. Yeah, like, no, Francis,
- 22:36Speaker 2: You're not the Foresight.
- 22:37Speaker 3: H you know what I mean.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I can't wait to watch this.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'm so excit. Oh.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I also hate that we have already been renewed for
- 22:48Speaker 2: a season three, so this is just gonna draw out
- 22:51Speaker 2: for years and years and years.
- 22:52Speaker 3: But I do believe the.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Book was a series of books, so it's really it's
- 22:56Speaker 1: a lot of stories to tell.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Could it be like years and years and years and
- 23:00Speaker 2: century I don't know, decades of Foresights?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Perhaps I don't know.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I don't know either. I mean, downt nab you did
- 23:08Speaker 2: how many seasons?
- 23:10Speaker 3: Seven?
- 23:11Speaker 2: Is there gonna be a Foresights movie? I doubt it,
- 23:13Speaker 2: but I love it. I love the show.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I love it.
