- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Nat and get a hit
- 0:04Speaker 2: of celebrity gossip.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Oh, there's been another update in this Kelly Clarkson versus
- 0:07Speaker 3: toy store saga.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Oh, what now?
- 0:09Speaker 1: I was telling you about it yesterday.
- 0:11Speaker 3: So the long story short is Kelly Clarkson claims a
- 0:14Speaker 3: toy store in Brooklyn treated her like Julia Roberts in
- 0:17Speaker 3: Pretty Woman where she went in.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And she tweeted this. She said, Yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Yeah. So imagine me going into Maya and saying, I
- 0:43Speaker 3: want your giant Christmas tree and them going, it's not
- 0:46Speaker 3: for sale. And then me tweeting and with the following
- 0:48Speaker 3: of Kelly Clarkson.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Naming and shaming. Exactly.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And this is like a small business, not like a
- 0:53Speaker 1: big toy store.
- 0:54Speaker 2: So what's the update?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Kelly has now come out again and said, cool, cool.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Sure.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It wasn't for sale. That's the narrative. Art of Play
- 1:00Speaker 1: is going to go with Art of Play is the
- 1:01Speaker 1: name of the shop.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So if the whole conversation we had when I asked
- 1:04Speaker 3: you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the
- 1:06Speaker 3: price tag hanging on the wall with the singing bird
- 1:09Speaker 3: didn't happen as you elevator eyed me saying in a
- 1:12Speaker 3: condescending tone, yes, it's for sale, but it costs $ 15, 000.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So if you'd like me to find something comparable for you,
- 1:17Speaker 3: I can. That all never happened and now it's not
- 1:20Speaker 3: for sale.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Okay, cool. You're not only rude, you're also a liar.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I got it.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It's not that hard to be kind. I never blast people,
- 1:27Speaker 3: but you, my friend, were an exception. Your story's really cool. Unfortunately,
- 1:30Speaker 3: you aren't.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So she's doubled down. So she's saying they lied.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Now they've come back and they've doubled down.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I know. They're saying during the five minutes she spent
- 1:39Speaker 3: in store, she inquired about Molly, that big mechanical bird thing.
- 1:42Speaker 3: We explained that while she's permanently attached to the wall,
- 1:46Speaker 3: there's a nearly identical version that is owned by the
- 1:49Speaker 3: creator of Machines, some artist who lives in Seattle, and
- 1:52Speaker 3: he told us he'd be willing to part with Molly's twin,
- 1:55Speaker 3: for $ 15, 000, not the one on the wall, a different one.
- 1:58Speaker 3: That's why they were saying something comparable, like a different
- 2:00Speaker 3: one that she could purchase.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They say, we explained all of this to Kelly.
- 2:04Speaker 3: We also offered her to show a different singing bird automations,
- 2:08Speaker 3: one that she could have taken home for about $ 2, 000,
- 2:11Speaker 3: but she refused to stick around long enough to see it.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Now we've reached out to Kelly directly to try and
- 2:16Speaker 3: clear the air. We do wish her all the best.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And we someday hope we can laugh about this misunderstanding.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You know what's happened?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Sometimes you just go to a store or a restaurant
- 2:23Speaker 4: or a doctor's surgery and you just don't get along
- 2:25Speaker 4: with the person.
- 2:26Speaker 2: For some reason, they don't like you. You don't like them.
- 2:28Speaker 4: This is what's happened here. Something's gone down between them.
- 2:32Speaker 4: There's some, you know, animosity.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I don't believe she went in and was like, because
- 2:35Speaker 3: she's not this kind of person. Like, you know, she's
- 2:38Speaker 3: been in the media for years. She's not the kind
- 2:40Speaker 3: of person to walk in and go, I want that
- 2:42Speaker 3: off the wall. So there must have been a miscommunication
- 2:45Speaker 3: along the way.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Somewhere along the way, yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And I do think, because it does happen, that maybe
- 2:50Speaker 3: there was a bit of sass from the store person going, like,
- 2:52Speaker 3: you know, you can't buy that one.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Like, righto.
- 2:54Speaker 1: You know, kind of thing.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And then she's got her back up.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And she was in a bad mood and you catch
- 2:58Speaker 1: someone on the wrong day. But yeah, I think.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Just send her the damn clock and be done with it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Ultimately, the whole thing was a misunderstanding. No, a singing bird.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Like, why do you even want to see it? What
- 3:08Speaker 2: is it?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Like the singing fish on the wall?
- 3:09Speaker 2: What do you want that for? Oh, how annoying.
