- 0:00SPEAKER_00: In episode three of Let's Stick Together, we are joined by Dutch superstar Yibby Janser.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: And obviously, by popular demand, we're back in the coop with you.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: It's all coming next.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Right, it's episode three.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Let's stick together, brought to you by Y Want Hockey.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We've got a very special episode this week.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: We are joined by Yibi Jansen, Olympic World Cup, European Champion, FIH, Star of the Year nominated.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Um Yibi, firstly, thanks so much for coming on and being on this uh Zoom call with me and you.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Thank you, and thanks for inviting me.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I'm very grateful, first of all, that you've got a fairly normal Dutch name because my pronunciation is normally terrible.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So Yibi Jansen is is I I haven't butchered that too badly, I hope.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: No, that sounds good.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: It's quite easy, right?
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Yup, uh were you were without Brennan this week, so lucky us.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Yep, how you how are you?
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm fine.
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: I've had a I've had a rough weekend, but uh I'm fine.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: We're like we're we were trending up with uh Oranye Road and now we're trending down a little bit.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: Uh lost points at uh at Yibi's club.
- 1:27SPEAKER_04: I think Yibi even watched the game, saw us uh draw against uh uh uh a team that promoted this year, so that was kind of tough, and then we thought okay, that's let's set the record straight against Blumadal, and we lost 3-2.
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: Um, so yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_04: But other than that, I'm completely fine.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: How are you, Phil?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sorry.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: We start we always start this with kind of how we got on at the weekend.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Um, you've obviously gone straight on in there.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Um I guess I'll come to Yibi before I even introduce you.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Did you play this weekend?
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: You you play your hockey for Stixer.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Um, how did you get on?
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Well, um we we didn't have the best weekend as well.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: We played 2-2 against HC.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: And the game before on Wednesday, we lost 2-0 by uh them bulls, so okay, we're having tough times.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: Welcome.
- 2:23unknown: Yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's not the I mean I really didn't expect that to be honest with you, because I know that you were runners up last year in the final.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think uh three times in a row in the final, but uh yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay, nice.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Doesn't mean anything for this season.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: As um David Ames likes to say, we play in a farmers league over here.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Um I play for old Georgians and we won 7-2 against Cardiff.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: It was a pretty good game, but nothing to nothing to write home about, apart from the fact that a load of I'm not sure you get this very often in Holland, but um a load of uni students um stand on the sideline.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Like university college students stand on the sideline get really drunk and hurl abuse at the uh opposition.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: So we were in Cardiff um getting absolutely like a lot of abuse.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Some some of it was really funny, um, some of it not not so much.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I I had anytime I was close to the sideline, someone was screaming Phil at me.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Uh I smiled at them and then they screamed, Stop fucking smiling.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And so I didn't didn't quite know what to do with that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: But uh you probably compare it to you getting heckled by the Nottingham lads when you came to Lee Valley a couple of years ago.
- 3:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that was that was good.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: They actually actually I think they actually like me, but it doesn't sound like they like you.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think so.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: We're like the Manchester City of the English Hockey League.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: We we we get a lot of bad chat.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So uh does that happen to you before I get into it, does that happen to you a lot, Yubi?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Are you are you going to away days playing Den Boss away and getting sick, or is everyone very nice to you?
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Well, no, most of the people are nice to us, but uh no, yeah, just the children are very uh excited to see us, but I haven't had it like like your way.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: You've played in Argentina though.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's true.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: But then it's more far away when it's in uh in a stadium or something, yeah.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I hear they they when we were attacking, they they boo a lot, but if when we score, they will they also applaud.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: I don't think you speak Spanish fluently, so I think it also helps that you don't really understand what they say to you, right?
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't want to know.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: They probably also call me a shit a couple times, but I have no clue what they say.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: And I always think they say nice things, that's easier.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have the glass the glass half full, the optimistic approach that they're being known.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Right, so we'll get on to the the main stuff.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: We're we're like I said, really, really um thankful that you've come on.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: You be you're a you're a true superstar of hockey, so we're not sure we're gonna do you justice here.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: But I first of all got some got some of your stats.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: So I know that you've played 82 times.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: You can tell me if I'm wrong.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: I I I tried to find them from probably no more than me, so tell me about the stats.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: You've got 82 caps, um, you've got 71 goals, which is not too bad.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Um, you've won the Olympics in Paris a few months ago, you've won the World Cup and the Europeans and the Pro League, but we we don't really count the Pro League on this podcast.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And and you know, especially for sorry, do you count it you yeah, 100%.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: 100% like a couple of years ago was the only real prize I've won, so I do count.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Um you've you've also won 73 of your 82 caps.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Um you've only lost three games.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: So um I know that you're part of the we're gonna get onto it, but I guess how does that sound when I say that back to you?
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Oh well, it sounds sounds very good.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, I think uh every game we play with the Netherlands we want to win, but yeah, those are very good stats, and uh yeah, scoring the goals is uh what I'm in the field for, so that's nice.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and um well I'm gonna get on to asking you a few of them questions, but first of all, like we've spoken a lot on this podcast about your team, about the Dutch women and how dominant you've been, and it's great to have one of you on here because we finally get to ask all the questions that we've uh we've wondered about.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Um, first of all, like an open question.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: How how is it being part of such an incredibly successful team?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: You you must be one of the most successful like sporting teams ever, maybe.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Um, how is that?
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in yeah, when I first came in the in the team, you're yeah, I was in in a team with all like superstars, which I was looking up to.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Um so then I just got told what to do, and you just follow it, and now yeah, now I'm in the team for more years, so your my role is also changing.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: But um, yeah, I think everyone who's in the team really wants to to give give all their best, and that's what you you see it when other girls girls are doing it, you just take over it yourself.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: So everyone is really yeah increasing the increasing the level.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: So I think that's what really is yeah, making the success.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think and I think it's also maybe interesting for listeners to know that Yibi had quite a uh different career path, I think, than than than many others had.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: Because I think Yibi, I think you were 16 or 7.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: How old were you when you went uh Jibi played at Orange Road?
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you know that, Phil.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Ah, fellow fellow.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, she actually changed.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: I think she was quite uh determined from a young age.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Because how old were you, 17 or 18 when you came to Orange Road?
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Uh 17, yeah.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so at 17 she was like uh and I think we're in it.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: Palmer was still in the team at Den Boss, right?
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I I'm gonna fill it in for Jibbec.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong, but Yibbi was like, fuck that, I'm not being a second corner behind Palma.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: I want to flick boss myself.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: Actually, moved to Orange Road, which at that point wasn't like a top-top team in Holland.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: Uh, I think you guys were the only team.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm not sure, but I think we were like it was a long time since Orange Road the women played uh playoffs.
- 8:46SPEAKER_04: Um and then uh they they uh they had a pretty another pretty they had a really like uh talented uh group and they actually reached playoffs, I think, three times in a row or two times in a row, not sure.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: Um, but like kind of chose her own path.
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: And I think a lot of like girls, that's a bit the problem, I think, in the hope class, women's hope class is that there's like the gap between Sticks, the boss, and uh Amsterdam is so big with the rest that you kind of you can almost fill in right now already, uh, with like the little oopsie from this weekend where you draw Haggase, but like normally uh you kind of fill in those three already for playoffs.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: But she actually chose to go to a different path and not stay at the boss, which is like the easy choice if that makes sense, to just stay with all the the top athletes and all the uh top players there, but chose her own way.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: So that's pretty cool.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: That you do you think that like changed for you your uh how do you say it, like your career that you made that choice?
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it really did.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Um, it was yeah, I thought I really wanted to play at the midfield and yeah, flick the corner, yeah.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: And and for sure at the boss they were the plays much, much better, and I was super young, so it it would it would have taken a long, yeah, a lot of years before I could do that at the boss, which I completely understand.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: And but at that time I was like, okay, maybe it's better for my uh yeah, just development, yeah, development to go to Orange Road where Ton Siepman uh became head coach, and he is like the master of the the penalty corner, yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: So I thought, well, that's perfect for for myself.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: I can train every I think four times in a week with him on the on the penalty corner and play at the midfield.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: So that was the reason why I went to Orange Road, and um because yeah, at the lower club or lower ranked club, then nothing uh bad at Orange Road, but yeah, I got a lot of responsibilities at a young age, so I think that's why um yeah, and I'm now 24, but I at my at the age of 18, I was already making decisions where to to flick the ball and yeah, play it in midfield.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: So that really helped me develop at a young age.
- 11:13SPEAKER_04: And you knew that I was playing at the Orange Road, and you always would be very much fun at Orang Road.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you didn't expect Yibi to actually say, Oh yeah, I looked up to you, I wanted to watch you play.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Yibi went with oh it's fun.
- 11:30SPEAKER_04: I her reason sounds a bit more valid than mine, but okay.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I also worked with Tun Steatman for my one year at Orany Road, but it didn't go that well.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: He basically he looked at my flick and was like, No, you can just go back.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: You can do nothing.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: You can train back, train with the other guys.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: I did it really.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Well normally Don is very patient.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: That's everything about Phil uh about Phil's flick.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: It was like it was really shit.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Ah, okay.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: Well zero goals with your flick at the right road, or one.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: No, no, I don't I don't I don't know if I scored, but yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: It's it's there's a like a I I like to put a bubble on it so like you know that can really test the postman out.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: That's what that's my uh that's my um Phil only does like the the the little butt so like the little tap to the left and then he flicks it to the to uh to glove side.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: That's the only flick he has.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Well, it can be a good one, but it was until everyone worked out that it goes slowly and quite bobbly, and then they just Ah okay, then then you hope the the the goalkeeper is just missing the ball.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: That's the only Hey it worked it worked for a couple of years, it doesn't so much now.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, I think before we get on to like I guess the flicking the flicking stuff, just going back to being part of the of the Dutch team.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I think we've talked a lot about how you um handle pressure and uh you know you have a huge expectation on your back basically every tournament that you you know you have to win.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Um and I guess we we've always been inquisitive about how that feels and how you go about that as a team dealing with that pressure, because you know it's hard as human beings to still be perfect, but you're kind of treated like you have to be.
- 13:22SPEAKER_04: If that's yeah, from the outside, it always kind of looks like you guys could only lose.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: And I don't know how how that feels for you guys, if that makes sense, because you're like there's not a lot of teams that are favorite as much as you guys are in sports, like everyone kind of uh expects you guys to win, which which seems for the outside world pretty tough.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Um, well, my first real big tournament was the World Cup, and at that time I was yeah, I had a young age, and it the I think for the the older girls the responsibilities were much higher than for me at that time.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: But last summer at the Olympics, I really felt the pressure as well.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Um even though it was my first Olympics, but yeah, in the end, you you know what people expect, and I felt the nerves as well.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I felt the pressure a lot, but it's all also part of the sport, I think.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: And maybe then if it works out the way you want, then it it makes it more beautiful.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Because it's normal to have nerves with in sports, yeah.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: You cannot say before the tournament, maybe from the outside you think oh, they're gonna win, but for us it doesn't feel like that.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that actually probably is a real key driver into why you're still successful, is because you're still um humble enough to believe that you can lose, so you have to give your all every time.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Because if you suddenly just start thinking that you're never you're unbeatable, that's maybe when you're gonna yeah, that's then you take the wrong path.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And what I guess uh I think maybe a question for a lot of people would be like, what what do you think makes you so successful?
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Like as a team, is it the fact that you have an amazing like club system over in Holland?
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Is it the training you do?
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Is it the culture that you have?
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Um what do you think makes you uh like tick and be able to win them medals time after time?
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: Um I think there are a lot of talented girls in the Netherlands, so yeah, if you don't do give your best, then there are like 20 other girls that want your spot, and they're yeah, they have much talent as well, so they can give the the the national team yeah some good yeah they're uh that will be they will be they will do very good, so I think that's why you for yourself have to give it your role.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I don't know.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: I think the club system as well, but sometimes it would also be nice if you because we yeah, we play the you have three really good clubs, and the other games are less yeah, in interesting.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the gap is really big, yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the gap is big.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: So that I think that that's something that could be better, but the level of talented girls is so high, so yeah.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: If it's not you, then then three other girls are very good, so yeah.
- 16:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and it all it it seems like it's a never-ending, like um like if you if you look at like 2021, it's still like like kind of the same group, but also like Yibi got in, uh uh Freeke Mousse got in, uh Lisa Post, I think, got in, René Volarov got in.
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of like players that that weren't uh they were on the radar, but like not really in there.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: But like girls like uh Eva de Goede, uh Nierweih Welte, uh Morgovergheffer, they got kind of replaced.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Like they were obviously they were like major players in Holland's uh history, but they were kind of replaced seeminglessly, as in you almost kind of forget they yeah, not you don't forget they were in the team, but like other players step in so easily in that system.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: I think it's like pretty like it's it's pretty like it's pretty not easy, it's far from easy, but it's like to get to the top is pretty, and I think that's what's most impressive about the women's team in Holland.
- 17:23SPEAKER_04: This and that's what we always try to discuss.
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: But what we didn't find the answer to is that it's pretty nice to get to the top, but then to actually stay there is like to be so consistent.
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: Uh, and I don't really see it falling down in the next couple years either.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: You guys still have the best penalty corner.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: I think you both goalies will continue till LA, Josine and Anna.
- 17:43SPEAKER_04: So you also have like the the bet the best goalies in the world.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: Like if you have those two, you're already kind of settled for the next four years, and then like I feel like the level of talent that's getting there is also uh growing.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: So it's yeah, it's uh but it's also I think a bit of a mentality thing.
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: I think the way you guys keep training and keep handling the pressure that you don't fault on the pressure, that you still you beat Argentina 3-0 in the semi-final or 3-1?
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: 3-0, yeah, 3-0.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think that was I'm not, but that was your best game of the tournament, right?
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: Of the team.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it it felt like that.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: After that game, I was like super hyped.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because we played so well, and the whole uh atmosphere in the staging was so good.
- 18:25SPEAKER_04: Well, because before the tournament they were your biggest rivals you felt, or was it Belgium or China?
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: I think both both of them.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: Um, sometimes the the way Belgium played, we had it was very tough for us, and I think Argentina is a lot more optimistic.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: So yeah, you can say that, but nah, I don't know, Naive, but really technical players, yeah.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: So they can create a goal from nothing.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: So you're all you always have to be, yeah, like really cautious.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: That the way uh Belgium is playing, we we really had a hard time against them, so I think both of them were very uh yeah, hard opponents.
- 19:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I've seen I've seen one of Yibi's three losses, and that was right before Olympics.
- 19:19SPEAKER_04: You were there, yeah, at Kampong.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, that was I think maybe the worst game, yeah, it was such a bad game.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: I feel because I was watching, I always like to go with uh Floris Waterbourg and uh Thijs van Dam to uh and Terence Pieters because all three have uh have a girlfriend in a team with Sonicola, Pinny Sanders and um Xander Waat.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: So I always join them and just watch their games, and it was the first time that I was like, ooh, might not be such a sure thing, gold medal.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: That made us sharp again.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: It I think it was really good for you guys that you like got the got the the the notification okay, it's not gonna be that easy at Olympics, but also all three came like different, like separate from each other, came to to to to our little group there.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: I said it was the worst game we've ever played as a national team.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it really felt like that was so bad.
- 20:12SPEAKER_04: And China, like the final.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, was there a moment you were like fuck, we're gonna lose this?
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, I was thinking like, oh my god, this is not really happening, is it?
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, Okay, you still have I think it was 20 minutes before the end of the game, and I was like, Okay, you just have 20 minutes to realize the dream, and otherwise, you're just gonna hate yourself forever.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: So stop thinking this way and make it work.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: You really have to make it work.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: So I really thought in the game, oh my god, this is is this happening?
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: I did watch that game, and I was like, for the first time ever, I thought I saw that you were a little bit human.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, because normally it's just like even if it's not going your way, you kind of just like there'll be something like the head, the the chest comes out, the head goes back, and then you just find a way to win.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: And I was like, what is what is happening here?
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: And then um, am I right in thinking you scored the you scored the goal?
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: It was uh yeah, and and something then, you know, you need them moments from you know players like yourself to to lift the team, and then suddenly the question I have to ask about that, as well as like the fact that it's good that you actually did think that because I I was gonna ask the same question, was like, do you even practice shootouts?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: That can't be that regular for you.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: No, there was the thing I was thinking after the game because I knew I'm uh I was not going to take a shootout.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: So after the game uh stopped, I was like, Okay, yeah, this was my job and now it's done.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking, would it be a bad thing that we didn't have to play shootouts before?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Like in no pro league game, no European game or World Cup game.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, is it a bad thing?
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, yeah, but the girls have done it in the in the competition, in the Dutch competition, and then we do it against each other.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: So uh girls from Denbos against Anne, our goalkeeper, and um girls from SCAC against Anne.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, maybe that's a good thing.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: So we have practiced it against each other on yeah, also very um high pressure moments.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: So then I was like, okay, we can make this work.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there was that panic in my head when I saw it was going to shootout.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: So I was like, I wonder the last time the Dutch women did a shootout.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Is it it was I think maybe the World Cup in 2018?
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: They did.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, pro league probably, but not like high pressure.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, pro league, but that's not that high of pressure.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: It's not the same, is it?
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: You can't recreate the the feeling of uh being stood there in a big one, and especially the gold medal on the line, like but it took so long.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: I was on the mid-uh, yeah, the mid midline, and I was like, Wow, the time it it's too long, and yeah, I had so yeah, the nerves were so high.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: And I asked the girls after the shootouts, like, how did you do it?
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: And they were like, Yeah, because we knew we have to like the game stopped, and they knew the game is not over yet, so they stayed in their focus, but I was out of the focus because I knew I was done, so that was a difference.
- 23:33SPEAKER_04: But were you like um if you guys would have gotten a stroke, would you have taken it, or was it uh Matla?
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Uh Matla was going to take it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we talked about it, and I asked her, Do you want me to be uh to be next to you?
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: So if maybe if you got to, or I don't know, but she was like, No, I'll be fine.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Okay, well then I stay at she seems like she seems like that way.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I could imagine that would be the response.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: I've no, I've never really met her, but I like the it's a goal scorer mentality of like yeah, I'll be fine.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's really good at it.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: I do think that we all think that, don't you?
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: When you get to watch um sport live, like a penalty shootout or anything like that, like I and you always everyone always stands there being like, you know, all you have to do is put the ball in the goal, it can't be that hard.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: And I think the thing that I've learned in the last two years, having stood there or waited or been a part of them, is how much it changes your body feeling and the environment, and uh I mean it's just uh it's yeah, it's it's basically uh nice being a fan, but not as pleasant being the person stood there in the arena.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: It's I don't know, it was the it was also very yeah, much nervous watching it.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: I forget we talk about that.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: You you you you took one in the final, didn't you?
- 24:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I missed it.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: I missed two things.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Have you seen it back?
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, I've seen it back.
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: I I'm now that I know I've won, but when the moment you miss your shootout, and I like we started with shootouts, as in we were first.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: Uh Jonas started and he missed, and I was like, oh fuck the Germans, we're gonna lose this one.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: Then Bim in I don't know how saved the first one from Bella, which was always like a certain thing.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: Then I had to step up because I was second, and uh I I I scored a lot as in uh not not a lot.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: I I never took it in such a pressure mode, but I was like pretty confident and we analyzed the goalie.
- 25:39SPEAKER_04: But the moment you miss and you have to walk back and you see like 20 guys looking at you like you fucker, like it's so shit, because you feel like uh I'm gonna be the guy that missed, and because of me, you don't have we don't have a gold medal.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: So I was I was almost cheering even louder when guys scored our shootouts, so I wouldn't be a bad guy.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: I always think there's a crazy is there not a crazy thing, you know, like uh obviously I know that feeling as well, having trotted back on my little walk.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: It's a horrible walk, I couldn't agree more.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: But like when everyone's scoring, so I remember the European semi-file when everyone's scoring before you, I think it's higher, and it keeps building and building.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: And I think I was the eighth one to go, and no one would have missed.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: I was like, don't let me the guy be the guy who missed, please.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Don't let and it ended up being the ninth guy who missed, and we obviously won it, but like it's crazy, man.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: It's yeah, sorry, we've gone off on a tangent there, you bit.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but also to get back to because like the the game against China, I think was also a really special one for you guys, Yibi.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: Because like I was in the stadium and um I had like oh, we need to go to a break, Philip.
- 26:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh this is this is Phil saying we we only have 40 minutes of zoom time, so now we need to go to a break.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: We're really amateurs here.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, nice.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank you.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: We are well, that's a perfect way to stop this part one.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Yibi.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: We're real amateurs.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: We'll be back after the break.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, and we're back for part two.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: We decided to uh we're definitely gonna keep that in the edit.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Thank you for finishing part one so lovely.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: Um, Yupe, do you want to carry on with your question?
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, thank you, Yibi, for calling us unprofessional.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: It's true, but it kind of still kind of hurts.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're we're working on it.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: We we like now that we got a big star on the show, we'll actually step it up.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you, how are you working on it?
- 27:38SPEAKER_04: Sorry?
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: No, he's asking me because I do fuck all normally, but it's fine.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: Okay, I bring I bring a lovely spirit and like uh my my my uh happy personality.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: Yippy also sees that, right?
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: You put me on the on the on a spot.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's continue.
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: Um, no, my question was in the final, because that's where we left off, is uh because there was a moment because I was in the stance uh and I was again with Dice and uh Wattle, and uh of course for them it was also that their girlfriends were on the pitch and they were like um very very nervous.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: But I even felt I also I was like sweaty and shit because I was like, oh fuck, like almost like oh no, you guys at some moment it felt like you got it was slipping away from you guys, like yeah, like you you the chances you got they didn't want to fall, and you got I think two or three corners before you you you scored, and I was like, Oh fuck, they're gonna it's not gonna fall, it's just gonna be one of those nights like it was in uh I think Rio.
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, when they I was like, Oh no, it's not gonna be one of those nights, right?
- 28:48SPEAKER_04: But then of course you've scored, but then I think with 10 seconds to play or something, yeah.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: I know exactly the place and how it went.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but also like in the final minute, and I was exactly in the line of the ball that went oh yeah post, and I think two Chinese girls they like missed it.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh mate, I was we I was looking at Wattle and Tys, and we were looking at each other like holy fuck, this like this could have like ended it.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: I feel it when you say it.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Like how I saw those girls at the second post.
- 29:25SPEAKER_04: Like I had no girlfriend on the pitch, but I was fucking nervous.
- 29:28SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh no, Dirgo.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: Because in the end, it made it made it made our party a lot better than you guys won as well, to be honest.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, true.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: But in the end, for us, the way of uh winning it like this was also it made it so yeah, special and so much uh how do you say it?
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: Like happiness, yeah.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, more than it's not it's not something it would be it's underwhelming if you win an Olympic final like 7-0, like this.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: We we've seen it all this way, yeah.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: Did you ever think that China would come out and play like they did?
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: Uh the moment I knew it was going to be China, I was like, okay, we have to be extra sharp.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: They're gonna come up with something, and they will do everything to make it work.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was I was no second thinking this was going to be easy.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: And and it didn't I was also very nervous.
- 30:23SPEAKER_04: Did you did you play under Alison?
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you did.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:27SPEAKER_04: Like, did that bring in an extra like element for you guys?
- 30:31SPEAKER_04: As in not that it made you guys extra shy, but you know that Alison knows you guys like really well.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: Just just for context, that's Alison Alan used to coach the Dutch women's team, and now she's been in charge of the Chinese team for the last two years.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I I no, I've known I've seen it before, like uh uh Raul Ehren was also always coach from the Bos, and then he went coach from Belgium, and some of the Den Bosch girls were like, Oh, okay, he knows it so well.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Yeah, but he's not on the pitch, so he can tell the girls who are on the pitch what to do.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: But in the end, yeah, maybe it will make a small difference, but in the end, yeah, not so much.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: So that was what I was thinking about Allison as well.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: Like, she's not on the field, and in the end, the the the girls of China, yeah, have to do it.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they've seen us play, but yeah, I don't I was not thinking that that would play a part, but yeah, she knew us.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair enough.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: I think she don't know where I'm going to push the corner, and if some of the strikers, yeah, they shoot the ball in the goal, yeah, she cannot stop that.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: And I guess like how has it been since you've won?
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: I'll ask you this question a few weeks ago.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: How's it been since you won Olympic gold?
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Has it has it changed your life?
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: You you've you've now got a huge following on social media, you're you're you're obviously one of the biggest stars in hockey.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: Like, has it has it changed for you?
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, nah, well, it changed a bit, yeah, for sure.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Um people know your name sometimes more than before.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I got yeah, I don't know, just sometimes uh a few weeks ago I went to to give a presentation about our experience that those things are coming into my my life, but yeah, it's not major changes, but I see that yeah, it changed a bit for sure.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: And you still have to do groceries, you still have to do your own laundry, and you still have to just and I'm still going to to university because I all uh I also want to finish that, so yeah, it's some things stay the same.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: And that's the same as anyone coming back from Olympics, is the the you get knocked back to reality quite hard from being in a in a bubble for for crazy two weeks and then you're suddenly like Yupe says, going back to do your shopping.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: And the week after is also still really good though.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think we've partied the a whole week, and after that week, I was like, I I cannot talk, I cannot move anymore.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: I had no voice, but after that, yeah, your club life starts.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Uh my university started again.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: So that week I was like, Well, this is boring again.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: And then a few weeks later, then some fun things came into my life, so yeah, yeah, of course.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: We we were actually supposed to do like uh there's this kids uh sports show, it's called SEPSpot, and Yibi stood me up.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: She was too big time for me to uh to join.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: Like she was yeah, it was really painful.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: I thought, oh nice, I'm gonna do like a nice episode with kids with Yibi, and too big time for me.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Would have been a very good episode, I think.
- 34:07SPEAKER_03: And now it's shit, Yibi.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: Now it's good and it would have been the best.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fair.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: What was what were you doing?
- 34:16SPEAKER_00: Yep, sorry, give us some context.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: You went on a children's TV program.
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was like uh it was um me and Yibbi supposed to like, but then actually was uh Yibi the game got replaced uh by Yibi exactly on the date that was set, like two months before um um to record.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Uh, but it was like a kids' TV show where they do like challenges with hockey.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: So we went in the middle of U-Trek, like uh um at like the big church, the dome, and we did all kinds of challenges and we had to ask people on the street.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: It was kind of it was it was fun, it was also quite uncomfortable sometimes because you were uh with your hockey stick in the middle of a big city and people looking at you who's this idiot, who's this tall idiot.
- 34:59SPEAKER_04: That's why I that that's why I would have liked to have Yibi with me because people know her a bit more than me.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: So I thought then I might look a little less silly, but uh yeah, there's that famous hockey player, but who's the lanky ginger guy?
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's the girl that does the drag flicks, but who's the idiot next to her?
- 35:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's uh yeah.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Fair enough.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: I think um I guess I want to talk about some of your drag flicking, if that's okay.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: Um you've kind of rocketed to being the best flicker in the world over the last two years.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: I think it's I I don't think there's that too much argument about that.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: Um I I looked it up again.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Um you've you've played 40 matches in 2023 and 24, um, and you scored 48 goals, um which is pretty staggering.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: I guess for for young people listening or they want to know like about how you've done it, like how much time are you spending on your drag flicking?
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: Now, like I said before, I went to Orangerau to uh because Ton Sigman was um yeah becoming coach, and at that time I could train with him four times a week, and every training we took like 20 or 30 minutes for drag flicking, and that's four times a week, so that will make a difference.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: And I started at a young age.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, I don't know.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: I I liked it so much that I went with myself to the field and some balls, and then I started flicking.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, that's what I did a lot, and I don't know.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: I I really like to fine-tune it, so I always there's always a small part to what I can improve to make to make it harder or much more precise.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I just think it's is it an obsession?
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think yeah, it yeah, because there's always something you can do about it, and and you can always make it make sure the ball is is going harder to the goal.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: So it's not a moment that you think, oh yeah, this is good enough.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: And like the Olympics of 2024 was like the my biggest goal.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: So I always thought uh thought like that's the moment I should be at my best.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: So before the Olympics, I've trained a lot with Tone and uh with myself, and yeah, that was like the the highest goal where I wanted to be the best.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: So it kind of worked out.
- 37:33SPEAKER_04: You scored nine or ten?
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: Uh nine goals, yeah.
- 37:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, in eight games, yeah.
- 37:38SPEAKER_04: That's good.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: And then there's a little voice in my head that still says, like uh it it could be better because well, I'm I'm very happy at the way it went, but uh after the one I made the the one-one, we got another penalty corner, and then after the game, I was like, what if that one went in?
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: And and that's what you keep thinking because there's always a voice in your head that says, Oh, it could be better, or you can yeah, yeah, because that is an obsession.
- 38:13SPEAKER_04: I I think that's what what makes the difference, right?
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: Between like good and great, is that uh that you're never satisfied, and I think that's the that's the cool thing to hear because I never heard it from guys like you, uh girls like you, but like how how even if you've won everything there is to win, that it's still not like it is good enough, but it's still not good enough for yourself.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: That's still you have like it's kind of it's like golf still that you always feel like oh left some shots out there, oh the screen could be better.
- 38:43SPEAKER_03: I leave a lot of shouts out there, mate.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: No, I think that's I think that's a man.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Sorry, yeah, that's your obsession, golf.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, should be talking, but it is golf.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're obsession is definitely golf.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: But I mean, I I guess you've yeah, you've touched on something that I think is so key to being uh successful, and especially like uh you've just talked about doing four three or four sessions a week with Tun and still finding time to go and do it on your own.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: Um you have to Yeah, and and I think you've also touched on something where you always want more.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: You you you are like uh there's a there's a certain level of like greediness to it, like where you're like, Oh, I score one, but I I could have scored two or three.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Um it's it's something that I think is is an absolute key ingredient to greatness.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: Like there's lots of different ways of doing it, but I think you've definitely touched on on important ones.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: And do you think because I I feel like at the men's game, the hook the penalty corner is getting a little less important, as in um like the corner defense has gotten so good as now like every every team has like two or three really good runners.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Um, but still at yeah, I think the corner percentage at the women's game is is was was never as high as it is now, but I have no clue.
- 40:00SPEAKER_04: It's just my gut feeling.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: So please correct me if I'm wrong.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: But like it's it's is it how how do you like keep ahead of that, if that makes sense?
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: Like, how do you it's are they running?
- 40:12SPEAKER_04: Is is is corner defense improving with the women as much as it is with the men instead of like because sometimes I see girls sometimes at the women's like the right and left zone, they sometimes don't they it I I kind of hold my breath every time a penalty corner because girls are sitting literally in the goal at the penalty dot with their hand on the ground.
- 40:32SPEAKER_04: I'm like, oh, if you get this on your head, you're you're done.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're crazy for sure.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Um, now well, I look at the corner defense a lot, so and I was thinking okay, at the Olympics, people are going to do different things just to make me or other penalty corner uh girls uh make it hard.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: So I was already thinking before the Olympics, okay, what is what can they do, and what can I do if if they do something different?
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: So I was already thinking ahead of that, and I had a really clear plan.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, if this is happening, I do this, and if that's happening, this is my plan.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: So I had a really sharp plan before the Olympics, and I trained that as well.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: So, and I think um I from a young age I um how do you say that?
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: I practiced like if the ball is not exactly at the right spot to to keep pushing as well.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: So not really saying to the uh how do you say the yeah yeah to say to them like this is a bad ball, but okay, it's a bad ball, but what can I make out of this corner?
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: I did that as well, so it doesn't really matter for me if the ball is not perfect on the spot or just rolling a bit, it's fine for me because I practiced so much that I can do whatever is happening, I have a plan for it.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: And um I think that's also a really good point, but what's the most satisfying?
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Because I've watched your um flicking and I as a as a as a saying.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: Trying to learn, yeah, trying to learn.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Um part-timer, part-time pusher, as I call myself.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: Like the the most satisfying is when you like bind the runner and then you make the keeper fall one way and then you just whip it back uh to the stick side.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: I've got to say, when I watch you do that, I get angry with the keepers because I'm like, you know that's coming, and you still fall for it every time.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's true, but sometimes, yeah, I can understand.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: I know people are saying that to their goalkeeper, like you knew this was going to happen.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: But I I can do the other thing as well, like um, yeah, the the I will do it, but then I don't do it.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like the early release.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: You fake you fake the fake.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I fake the fake, so then you don't know which one is coming.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I know I I I wasn't trying to do the injustice that you can't flick the other side.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, I know, I know, but I'm just clearing uh up.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I find it amazing that it kind of felt like that, Phil.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: It felt like you were doing her wrong.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: It's fair enough, but I just imagine the coach could turn to the keeper after the game being like, We talked about it, we talked about it, and she's done it to you again.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can imagine.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that's that's also I think that's also a bit with like we we had a whole presentation with about uh whatever about Niklas Vela.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, keep him in front of you, keep him in front of you, and then the guy starts running and you're completely Fucked.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, some things you just can't really stop, I think.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's like when you run down the right hand side, you it's like, oh, he's gonna run down the right hand side, and it's like, well, I can't, you know, he's too fast and too long.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, thank that's the f thank you, Phil.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: That's exactly the same thing.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: You get credits as well, you today.
- 44:22SPEAKER_04: Some some not a lot, sometimes.
- 44:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, slightly sarcastic ones, but you can really, really annoyed that I got nominated for one player of the year.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Annoyed?
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he got really annoyed.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: That's a bad thing.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: Well, he didn't deserve it, did he?
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: No, it's just a joke.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: We can we can silence from Yibi speaks loud.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: That's not no, come on.
- 44:48SPEAKER_00: This is this is what friends do.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: They they make themselves feel really good.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: Anyway, less about me and you.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: You have well actually no, we can incorporate you into this, but you've obviously also been nominated for world player of the year.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: Um that's gonna be released on the 9th of November.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, was that a was that a dream of yours?
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Obviously, like I think for what are you smiling about?
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: You you what are you smiling about?
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: Nothing.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, you're okay.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: Like, how is that how has that been for you?
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Like, were you how did it feel to get nominated?
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: Uh well, being nominated for this uh prize is like yeah, it's very special because you're I think uh it's just five girls out of the whole world that got nominated.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: So yeah, well, that's very special, and and especially in a in an Olympic year, that's a year where you want to uh yeah be at your best.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I was like yeah, I was actually a bit proud of it.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, of course.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: I mean you see, yeah, it's also very hard because it it keeps yeah, it stays a personal of an individual prize where you actually do everything with your whole team, and that's the same with my penalty corner.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: I made the goals, but the injector and the girl that has to stop the ball are as important as I am.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: So I always want to give them credit as well.
- 46:16SPEAKER_04: I I really this is this is this is exactly what I wanted here because I'm uh I'm an injector, and uh injecting and stopping is a really no Phil because you're like the you're you're a shitty flicker, you cannot speak on this, but Yibi can speak on it.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Um the amount of like Yip Jansen does it as well.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: He gives actually he actually gives credit to like good injections or credit to when the ball when like a bouncy ball is stopped.
- 46:39SPEAKER_04: And I feel like Yibi, you're the first flicker I've ever heard.
- 46:42SPEAKER_04: It really gives credit to their to her injector and the the the girl stopping it.
- 46:47SPEAKER_04: Because I feel like that's that's an that's an underrated job.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it really is an underrated job.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: Um and and and it's you also have to put in a lot of time as well.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: Like people always think, like, oh, you just have to do put in extra time when you uh do the the penalty corner, but for yeah, it takes also a lot of time for the injector and uh the girl uh that stops you always have they sometimes they hate me, then I'm like, no, I want to do some more balls, and they're like, hello, you're not done yet.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: But in the end, they're yeah, they they want to do it for the team as well, and that's amazing.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: I've got a slight argument, right?
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: And it's that they are important, yeah, but they're not quite as important.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Like you just just calling a spade a spade is that you've got someone who just has to put the stick on the ground and stop the ball.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: You have to learn an intricate movement and get it past runners, postman, and a goalie.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: Like, I know its job's easy to do.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, true, but without them, I'm not gonna be able to.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you're you're redundant.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I understand.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Thank you, thank you, Yibi.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: No, it's true.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: It's it's I just wanna I'm allowed to disagree.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: I just think your job is more important.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: But but Yimby and me, as like renowned drag flickers, we know how important the injector and the stopper are.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the last summer, I really you really have a big difference in injectors or girls that stop the ball as well.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: Like some girls put in so so much time, and or boys as well, for sure.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: But yeah, and and nobody talks about that.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: So I really want to give them credit as well.
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: And that's you didn't even say though, if if they don't stop it right, you'll still flick it fine.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: So there's also that.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that's something I try to answer.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: No, it's credit where credit is due.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: But I like that Jibby gives a little bit of love to us injectors as stoppers.
- 48:50SPEAKER_04: We stay strong together, like, yeah, for sure.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: No, but that's what I wanted to say with the individual prize as well.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, it's it's still an individual prize in a team effort, and without a team, yeah, how can you become uh yeah, you you won't be nominated without the whole team.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: So it's yeah, and winning the Olympic medal is like everyone put in their uh their part, which makes it so nice to share it together, like winning it together with a team is I think the most beautiful feeling you can have.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and we obviously you would know, right?
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: Why you gotta do me like that?
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank you for pointing that out.
- 49:37SPEAKER_00: But I was just about to say, well, we're wishing you all the luck.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: You know luck to you, but we're wishing you all the luck in a couple of weeks to to make sure you win the the world player of the year.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: I think um I think our opinion is that you 100% deserve it.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: You've been uh incredibly well incredible all year.
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: And I think this this award tends to not go to the person who deserves it.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: So uh but I hope that they get it wrong this this time and they they actually pick the right person.
- 50:04SPEAKER_00: Um otherwise we'll just sat here congratulating congratulating Harman Priet and Shrijgesh and yeah, whoever else.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: You don't have to comment on that.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: I'll do that myself.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: UP you okay with that?
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm completely okay.
- 50:18SPEAKER_00: So yeah, um I think voting's is voting closed?
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: What day is it?
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, voting is already closed.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: That closed days ago, so I'm not gonna I can't I can't shout you out for people to vote for you, but uh less stit together we're hoping you be wins world player of the year.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're we're like we're not supposed because let's be honest that I got nominated is already like it's a bit too much, but we're really we're we're standing behind you.
- 50:40SPEAKER_04: I have a good I've I have a good feeling about it.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're gonna very quickly um touch on the hockey India League before uh we go into the coupe with you.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, yeah, you you have uh you put yourself forward for the Hockey India League, and you were bought by the Adisha Warriors for 29 lakh.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: You're the most I'm an Ambition Warrior.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: You're the most expensive overseas player.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Um are you excited for the uh Indian experience?
- 51:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I am last year.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: I've been in India, and uh not everyone likes it a lot, but I was like, I had a good time, and like rookie is really big over there, so I think it will be an experience for sure.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: And um it's also very nice to be in a team with different nationalities, so yeah.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: In uh in the Netherlands in my league, I haven't been in a team with lots of different nationalities, so I think it will be nice and a really adventure, a real adventure.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: It will be an adventure for sure, but I I feel like you also I just heard the the men have to stay for seven weeks.
- 51:53SPEAKER_04: You only have to go for like four, right?
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, after after the how do you call it?
- 52:00SPEAKER_00: The auction.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: The auction.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: I heard it was just two weeks, uh two weeks of uh competition.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: So I was like, whoa, okay.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: That's uh I think you're the best played, best paid player whatsoever.
- 52:13SPEAKER_04: Like if you look at the time you have to be there at the time you actually what you get paid for, I think you're like the highest paid, yeah.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: But we will do preparations as well, so it's not just two weeks over there.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: I will be four weeks uh in India.
- 52:27SPEAKER_04: Okay, and then it's then then it's yeah, then it's not that much money if it's like all four weeks.
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you've touched on something good though.
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: I think without talking too much about the money, like you you um I think a lot of people why they wanted to experience it was the fact that you get to play with uh different nationalities, like learn different ways of playing.
- 52:45SPEAKER_04: Um let's be honest, it's good.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: Well, it's not let's be honest.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: Let's go.
- 52:54SPEAKER_03: It's it's you would you go for free to for the experience?
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: For free, yeah.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: No, no, I have to be uh question.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: I like how you even asked with surprise when you went for free.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: Are you really asking me this?
- 53:13SPEAKER_04: No one in the right mind would go seven weeks or four weeks to play hockey in India for free.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: You do it because you get nice payday, and I'm I'm very proud you got you got so much money because I think it's rightfully so.
- 53:25SPEAKER_04: I I was really annoyed that Xander Watt got so little because I feel like the the auction was like the auction was shit with the men, but the auction with the women was even more shit.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: Like there was like don't get me wrong, there was Irish players who are not who were not even at the Olympics, I think, who got who got the same amount as Xander Watt, who was world player of the year last year.
- 53:45SPEAKER_04: Like what were they doing?
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: I think you were the only one they got, right, Yudie?
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was it was kind of weird how it went.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure we can open this kale of fish again because we did it, we did a hockey in the league episode a couple of weeks ago.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, it's um yeah, it's it was pretty crazy.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: I think that was again the biggest highlight of it all when you have the best player in 2023 who goes for the base price, which was just uh insane.
- 54:16SPEAKER_04: What did you go for, Phil?
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: Ah, developments there, yeah.
- 54:23SPEAKER_04: Phil got Phil got unsold healy, but now he's getting offers uh because everyone's backing off, so he's getting offers from India to really yeah, yeah, and I'm too bitter about it, so I just keep saying no.
- 54:36unknown: Really?
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: No, I I uh I I did I did get an offer, but um it's uh unfortunately over Christmas and um I have two two little little little kids, and so I I didn't want to leave them for Christmas, unfortunately.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Unless, as Yupe said, it is about the experience, but it's also about the money.
- 54:55SPEAKER_00: So if they if they paid me a lot of money, then maybe I could go, but but not for not for not for not too much.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: And in you didn't care about the money and the adventure.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: He might guarantee money, I think.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: No, I was I was uh I was I didn't sign up.
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: One because I was like, okay, they're not gonna they're not gonna see the difference between like me or just the block Olaf Balak.
- 55:22SPEAKER_04: I was completely wrong about hindsight, but okay.
- 55:24SPEAKER_04: And then after the the the the signing, uh uh how do you how do you call it?
- 55:29SPEAKER_04: Like the the signing in got closed, uh two weeks after I heard I was nominated for role player of the year.
- 55:34SPEAKER_04: So then I thought I made kind of a mistake here because it might have been bought for a lot, but I yeah, to be honest, I had no clue.
- 55:41SPEAKER_04: Um I was like, yeah, uh, I probably won't get sorted for a lot, but then I saw like guys like uh uh Lux Ball and Duco go for like 40, and I was like, holy shit, okay.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: But then I saw Jonas and Jonathan go for 10, so then I okay.
- 55:54SPEAKER_04: So that was like not really um yeah, it's a we we've already talked about you.
- 55:58SPEAKER_00: It's a flip of a coin.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: You could you could you could have gone for 35, you could have gone for 11.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: I I I think uh no one quite knew, and it also mattered when you when your name came out in the I'm not sure if that was quite the same, but and and for the men it's so much different because it's seven weeks, and it's seven weeks, and you're we have and yeah, you've been to you've been to Rukela as well, right, YD?
- 56:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, that's yeah.
- 56:23SPEAKER_04: It's it's let's put it nicely, it's not the nicest place in the world.
- 56:27SPEAKER_04: So I was like seven weeks Christmas there.
- 56:29SPEAKER_04: Am I really do I really want to do this?
- 56:31SPEAKER_04: I was like, no.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: Don't want to, so yeah, and I was thinking I might get 15, I might get 20.
- 56:39SPEAKER_00: So yeah, and you p is the we call him Gareth Bale on this podcast.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: He earns a lot of money and wants to just play golf, so it's it's okay.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: Um we okay to go to the coop?
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think I think Yippby that it's just what Yibi's been waiting for.
- 57:02SPEAKER_04: She has no clue what it is.
- 57:04SPEAKER_04: It's just it's it's uh it's uh it's just like um how do you call it dilemmas?
- 57:09SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, I was like really simple dilemmas.
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: Um weird, simple, like put a name to it.
- 57:19SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 57:19SPEAKER_04: Like first of all, if you had to choose between training and playing in wet shoes for the rest of your life, or play without a grip for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
- 57:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, or wet shoes, definitely wet shoes.
- 57:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, easy for me.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: I I love a good grip.
- 57:37SPEAKER_03: But wet shoes, every training, every game.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: I think you get used to a grip, couldn't you?
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Could you get used to what was it?
- 57:47SPEAKER_00: No grip.
- 57:48SPEAKER_00: If you have no grip, that's crazy.
- 57:52SPEAKER_04: Like a like like the carbon goes like through to the like no grip.
- 57:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that that hurts.
- 57:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you're a good player, you can handle it.
- 58:01SPEAKER_01: Wet shoes.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: I choose wet shoes.
- 58:04SPEAKER_04: How wet are we talking?
- 58:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I like soaking wet.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: Like oh no, no, no, no.
- 58:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, putting them in the bathtub.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: That's so fair.
- 58:11SPEAKER_04: Put them in the every training.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: You have there's like a little bathtub, and it says Yibis bathtub, and you have to put your shoes, like dip it in, and then take it out of the boat train.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: Still the wet shoes.
- 58:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: This is how you does it, by the way.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: He he just makes the challenge harder until he gets the right answer that he wants.
- 58:29SPEAKER_01: I already I've I've chosen and then he makes it harder.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 58:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there you go.
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: We had our first one the day.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: Um just before we start, this is what has happened to me is that like two times in the last week, someone's been like, Oh, that let's stick together's back, but where's where's the coop?
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: Because otherwise I'm not listening next week.
- 58:51SPEAKER_00: And I was like, fair enough, fair enough.
- 58:53SPEAKER_00: This is what the people want, they don't want us to talk serious hockey.
- 58:58SPEAKER_04: We put it at the end so people stay because otherwise they leave halfway.
- 59:03SPEAKER_02: You're smart.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: Okay, which this is another question.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: Which player do you think will be the best player of the world in three years' time?
- 59:11SPEAKER_01: That's not a dilemma.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: It's weird.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: We're in a coop.
- 59:16SPEAKER_04: It's all part of the coop, you just go with it.
- 59:19SPEAKER_04: I feel like Yimbi, you're very you're very close to it to the coop.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: Open up a bit.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: Come on, it's the coop.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: We will you will learn to appreciate it.
- 59:25SPEAKER_01: What should uh you talk about a girl or man?
- 59:29SPEAKER_04: Both for you, girl.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: We'll we'll choose the man.
- 59:33SPEAKER_04: I think in three years' time, because I got smash time in the weekend, I think it will actually be your boy.
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: The English fucker, Zach Wallace.
- 59:44SPEAKER_00: Why okay?
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, three years.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, already is very good, right?
- 59:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but he might already be up there, but three years is like a year before LA.
- 59:54SPEAKER_04: He's 24 or something.
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 25, 24.
- 59:58SPEAKER_04: He'll be 28, he'll be in his prime, I think.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_04: He might say he might take like the official crown.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm not gonna argue with that, Zach.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: Hold on, mate.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: We know you're a secret listener.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: You're giving you props.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, fucker.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_04: Uh, who do you think?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_04: You can say yourself.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_04: I think in the women's it was it it will be you.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_01: Can I also call an a new talented girl you don't know about?
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, sure.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my club.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Oh she's still she's still like I think 15 or 16.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: Oh name is uh Lotte Rutz, and she she will be the new star.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, we give her some years, she's very young.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_04: Yes, 16.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_01: Very good.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_00: So we have to save this clip, and then in like five years' time, yeah, you can just get it out, and you can be like, I'm a genius.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_00: Look how good she is now.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: Her name is Lutha.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna take credit for her uh for how good she is, but yeah, but you predicted it, so no, she she did it all herself.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_04: So okay, next one, Yibi.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: Now I get a dilemma for you.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_04: You have to perform a song at halftime during the Olympic final in LA, or be mic'd up during the next 10 national anthems.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_01: Uh I will be mic'd up.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: Are you are you uh are you like a like a give it all type of girl during the anthem, or are you like the silent like no?
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: I'm in between, like not give it my all because if I hear myself sing, but that's enough.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: It's not like that I close my eyes and give it my all, but I can hear myself sing.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_01: But sometimes girls next to me get confused because I sing the wrong words, and then they're like, stop it.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: So they're probably not going to be happy if I'll be mic'd up, but we also have that.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_04: We have a pretty shitty enemy.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: You can't really go loose with it because I always wanted like you have some words where you can choose, like you're catching this or are you catching that?
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_01: And that the the half of the team is singing different parts.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no one really knows what the words are.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: It's a great question, though.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: Who who does who does let loose in the in your team and really go for it?
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: What always sings pretty loud, and I always have to laugh, but I always stand next to him, and he sings like pretty loud, and he has like just a good just as good a voice as I do.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_04: But we also have I kind of I don't like the the people who like uh like mumble.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: I'm like, yeah, you sing it or don't you no no no?
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: Come on, yeah, sing it or you don't want to hear you, yeah.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: I want to like name and shame after the after the game, like oh you were shit, you were great, like but as soon as you're like full commitment in it, I'm fine.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: Gibby, what about you?
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_00: Who who who goes for it in your team?
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_01: Well, that's hard for me to say because I hear I just hear myself.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: So it's probably I don't know who's next to me singing as well because I just hear myself singing.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: It might be uh I know I think Renese Malahova, she's always in okay, nice.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: I I close my eyes and breathe in this moment kind of girl.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_00: Oh nice.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_00: We we've got uh our second uh well Janice Mazzarelli, who's one of our keepers, he used to be in the choir.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_00: I think we might have I might have already said this.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_00: So he has a really lovely voice, but he really goes for it.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_00: And if you stand too close to him, you end up getting distracted and being like, Whoa, you're you're really good at the singing stuff.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_00: Like he has a nice voice, yeah, and he he belts it out as well.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_00: He really goes for it.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: That's impressive.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we make him when he's when he's really quiet and nice guy, but we sometimes just make him randomly sing um for us because it's nice.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: Because then you have to be really calm, yeah.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_00: Very nice.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_00: Sing some lovely cold play.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: Shut up for a moment.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh that's that's that's nice.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: We have we have one guy in the team is Duco.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_04: You know him, Phil?
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_00: He does karate, doesn't he?
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_00: Is that right?
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_04: Koku.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_04: He uh he he has one song he can sing really well.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_04: It's always when I'm like uh when I'm when we're in the bus and I'm the DJ, I always put it on.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_04: It's like it's it's just shitty song.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: Nobody else from the name, but you I think you know it's uh Yippy.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_03: He always goes full in, he like belts it out every time I put it on, like takes my like uh like a folk songer.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's like a yeah, folk singer.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_04: He's like oh nice.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_04: I like him a little bit more.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but not like folk, he's like in all the bars.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_04: He like it's like really shitty music.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_04: Like like you can be fun, yeah.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_04: You've been to Stratum Sideville, like that kind of music.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_04: Fantastic.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, final okay, final question is This is gonna have to be a quick one, we might get cut off.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_04: Okay, Yimie, would you rather be an unreal player on a shitty team or a below average player on a really good team?
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: Um an unreal player in a less good team.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_03: I really like that you said this.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: I was thinking I cannot say it, but I did it because I went to Orange Rhodes and wanted to play more than wow, what a what a way you just got Orange Roth is no, I didn't because we're so professional and not amateur, we've come back for a third part because we got cut off.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: Do you want to do you want to finish off in the coop?
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_04: Uh no, that was pretty much it.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_04: I really like that Yibi said that she wanted to be uh an unreal player on a shitty team because I feel like everyone thinks that, but no one dares to say it.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_04: So I'm happy Yibi is like not afraid of the moment.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_04: Like we kind of knew, but like I'm happy that she she got up.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_04: Well, I am I am a pretty good player on a shitty team.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_04: So I'm I'm both.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_04: I'm a pretty good player on a shitty team, and I'm a I'm an I'm an average player on a really good team at the national team.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_04: So I got the best of both worlds.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_00: And you feel yeah, I mean we we both know that we would answer, we'd be the really good player on a shit team, and we know that Brendan, the other guy, would always say, You're bad blokes, you shouldn't do that.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: But we appreciate you know you've fit in perfectly with this side of let's stick together because we I knew that me and you Pajra both choosing that, and we were like, Will you be will she will she will she will she actually say it or not?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_01: Will she be honest?
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but Brendan would also, but he would genuinely want to be a shitty player on a good team.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_04: He would like he would genuinely like it.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_04: He'd be the cheerleader at the on the on the bench.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_04: It would be completely fine sitting on the bench and like cheering everyone on.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_04: He's he's such a good guy.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: Okay, but uh I really like the coop, uh the coop of Yupp.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: It was nice.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
