Colossians 2:11-23 - “The Circumcision of Christ”
The false teachers of Colossae were apparently insisting that the new converts get circumcised and obey the Jewish laws of the Old Testament. The difference between the legalism of the Judaizers and that of the Gnostics is the Judaizers taught that circumcision, and obedience to the law, were necessary for salvation. Gnostic legalism says that Jewish law would help believers become more spiritual. We have many Churches today that teach the same thing today.
