- 0:22talk about the uh looking like the Brown Hog and Catty Shack. I gotta
- 0:28love my dance skills. That's right, that's right. Good morning. Yeah.
- 0:34Yeah, for those of you who got bit by Daylight Savings, that's
- 0:39right, that's right. Yeah. Welcome to Trek Cast everyone, the Galaxy's
- 0:43Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. I am Scott. This is Daniel Hello.
- 0:49Holdo, yeah man, Uh so we're doing a supplemental this week. We're
- 0:54gonna be talking about June part two. Yeah, it's it's the big have
- 1:00a good conversation. Got Chazz Viz in the in the chat or just saying
- 1:03good morning and how much he hates Daylight Savings. Good morning, Chazz Biz.
- 1:07Yeah you been. I am doing good. It's been a couple of
- 1:12weeks. So, yeah, we have we have snow this morning here in
- 1:19Michigan. Yes it is uh, it's snow. We got a dusting,
- 1:26nothing major, but it's uh, you know, old man winter. This
- 1:30is Michigan and and we get you know, we've had snow in April and
- 1:34May and it just never wants to go away, and so you know,
- 1:41I am a strong believer in the groundhog, or I had been the groundhog
- 1:45promised an early winner this year on early spring. Yeah, I'm starting to
- 1:49think he's a liar. Yeah, I you know, I'm starting to think
- 1:53groundhog hunting might be a good idea. So I'll go that far. Perhaps
- 1:59we should trust rodents for weather. Well, that that could be. Yeah,
- 2:02that could be. Yeah. I just did an oil change on my
- 2:05motorcycle yesterday and this is the way that I get repaid. Oh wow,
- 2:09yeah, yeah, that's no good. Well, how oh, I'm good.
- 2:15I'm good. We're we're at the weird point where it is literally below
- 2:20freezing in the mornings and then by the afternoon it's like in the mid forties.
- 2:25So it's like you have to bundle up in the mornings and then by
- 2:29by the day you're you're fine. It's very weird. Oh look at this
- 2:34Max Greens from Ireland. Oh well, hi there, Oh, put another
- 2:38shrimp on the barbie there, Max, Abe, I don't I don't think
- 2:44that's an Australian thing. Oh, okay whatever, I'm not good with countries,
- 2:47but yeah, put another chamrock on the barbie. I don't know.
- 2:55I just wow, I think we just assaulted two countries. I think so
- 3:07sorry about that. Ireland that's the same as Scotland. Right, Oh god,
- 3:14I know that that's bad. I know that. Well just lost probably
- 3:20at least three listeners, yes, at least audio. Yes, it is
- 3:29the international beat. We're done well, be that. This is a supplemental.
- 3:38Let's get right to the entertainment news. Let's do it all right.
- 3:46So our first news story comes to us. Actually it's a little bit of
- 3:51sart trig news. It's from trickmovie dot com and we are finding out a
- 3:55little bit more about The Cards season two thanks to Percard season three showrunner Terry
- 4:03mettallis. So what we're learning is that the paraon executives team that Percard season
- 4:12two was a little two star trek. So yeah, so what does that
- 4:18mean? Yeah, Basically, Terry Mettella's state an interview with something called Master
- 4:26Replicaly Collectors Club zoom Chat last month and we're just now getting worried about it.
- 4:31Oh hey, Max is back and he says he's don't worry, very
- 4:36good, very good, no international incident. Basically, Terry Mendallas was saying
- 4:43that a lot of factors went into play as to what happened in Pocards season
- 4:47two. H he didn't talk about. COVID was a big, big problem
- 4:50for them. They would get shut down a lot because people would get sick,
- 4:56and then what ended up happening is as they were getting shut down,
- 4:59in would get shut down for weeks at a time. The deadline for the
- 5:03show wasn't changing, right, so they had to just throw stuff together last
- 5:09minute to make it work, which if you watch that season kind of fits.
- 5:13It certainly does because that did feel thrown together. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:16very much. He did say that they originally had some different plans for season
- 5:21two, but they were kicked out by the executives. One of the plans
- 5:28was to make Gynan's bar actually more of an alien hub, like all these
- 5:32aliens disguised as people, so like you would go to a back corner booth
- 5:36and then you could point out and see who the real aliens were, almost
- 5:41like a meta, so that it would be a little bit more like the
- 5:44Star Trek is actually happening, and we went to the past and we're here.
- 5:47They had the same kind of bar and super Girl, So yeah,
- 5:50I like that idea. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but the back got
- 5:54cut out. They felt that that was too star trek e. I guess
- 6:00some plotlines were also changed around. Another thing was they originally had the concept
- 6:04of bringing Girardi's Borg into Pocards season three, so at the very end,
- 6:13when when Picard and them are fighting the Boorg, the good Board would show
- 6:16up and help out. But but it was deemed like that's kind of dumb
- 6:23and it takes away from what Picard was doing to have versus Borg. You
- 6:29know, I guess kind of you know. Yeah. The other thing he
- 6:35admitted was like, look, if we brought Alison in Alison pill, she's
- 6:40not cheap, so it's more money and never being told to reduce costs so
- 6:46she's not cheap. What about Okay, I know, I know whatever.
- 6:49I think he's trying to be nice, but that's that's what happened. So
- 6:56I can I say this. Whenever I think about Start, whenever I think
- 6:59about Card season two, I think about when when I was just a just
- 7:03a fan of Trek cast, that's right before I was you know, an
- 7:10Exalted post. You know, I remember listening to an episode you guys did,
- 7:15and Dan made a comment it was like early on in season two of
- 7:19Picard, and then Dan made a comment, He's like, you know,
- 7:24it's like episode one or two. He's like, you know, this,
- 7:27this storyline is fine. As long as they don't stay in this timeline the
- 7:32entire season, I'll be fine with it. And every time I think about
- 7:36Star Trek season two or Percard season two, that's what I think about,
- 7:41because what do they end up doing. They stayed in that timeline the entire
- 7:45season, and that I thought that was a mistake. And apparently that was
- 7:50a giant cost cutting move because then they didn't have to build Oh sure,
- 7:54yeah, right right, that's why they did that. But you know,
- 7:59it's interesting that we're learning more about it. So well, we wouldn't want
- 8:03it to be too Star Trekish, No, why would we dare we?
- 8:09So our next story comes to us from Vanity Fair and I don't know if
- 8:11you're aware, but tonight is the Oscars. Yes it is. Yeah,
- 8:18So I thought we could kind of go through some of the categories and kind
- 8:20of talk about him. Oh yeah, sure, let's do some of the
- 8:24top ones. Best Actor. We'll go through this best Actor. We have
- 8:28Bradley Cooper for Maestro, Coleman Domingo for Rustin, Paul Giamani for The Holdovers,
- 8:35Killian Murphy for Oppenheimer, and Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction. I've only
- 8:41seen one of these movies. I'm gonna say I recognize one of those movies.
- 8:46Yeah, I haven't even seen it yet. We've seen Oppenheimer. The
- 8:50Holdovers is supposed to be very very good, but I have not seen that.
- 8:54Okay, Killia Murphy, but we'll see. I don't I don't really
- 9:00know. For best actress, we have an at Benning for Is It Night?
- 9:05Nate, Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Holler for
- 9:11Anatomy of a Fall, Carrie Milligan for Maestro, and Emma Stone for Poor
- 9:18Things. I haven't heard of any of those movies. I've heard of all
- 9:22those actors, but yeah, Kills of the Flower Moon is that is the
- 9:28what is his name? He did Good Fellows, very famous director. Anyways.
- 9:37Uh, that was a good, good movie about a real life.
- 9:41That was Hcorse. Very good movie. So I would recommend that. But
- 9:48it is a long movie, but good. I could see Lily Gladstone getting
- 9:54it. She she did amazing so Okay, but that's only because that's the
- 10:00the one I saw. Yeah, best director, we have Jonathan Glazer for
- 10:05a Zone of Interest, Your Ghost, Lathamos for Poor Things, Christopher Nolan
- 10:13for Oppenheimer, Martin Scorsese The Killers of Flower Moon, and Justin Troit for
- 10:16Anatomy of a Fall. I've only seen two of these movies. I've heard
- 10:20of two of these directors. So yeah, honestly, it does feel like
- 10:24it's it is Nolan's year with Oppenheimer. The fact that he got eight hundred
- 10:31million dollars out of a movie about a scientist, a three hour movie by
- 10:35the scientist. Right, it's kind of amazing, the whole Oppenheimer thing,
- 10:39Like, I feel like it's his year. And then that brings us the
- 10:43best pictures which have American fiction, An Adam of a Fall, Barbie,
- 10:50The Holdovers, Killers of Flower Moon, Maestro Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor
- 10:56Things, and the Zone of Interest. Okay, I man, yeah again,
- 11:05I haven't heard, like, you know, nobody's told me, Oh,
- 11:07you have to see Zone of Interest. It's so good. Yeah,
- 11:11I don't even know what it's about, right, right, Yeah, you
- 11:15know Oppenheimer, you know that's that's a movie I want to see. It's
- 11:20good. I haven't. Yeah, how did you watch it? Did you?
- 11:22You must have seen it in the theaters? No, no, no,
- 11:24I I waited till it was on streaming and I watched it on Peacock.
- 11:30Well on Peak, Oh that's right, Okay, that's the one streaming
- 11:31service I don't have. Yeah, I honestly I think Barbie could take it
- 11:39because I think there's going to be a backlash from Marda Robbie not getting nominated
- 11:45and we're not getting nominated. So I could see people then voting for Barbie.
- 11:52Yeah. I mean it was the most talked about movie of the year,
- 11:54right, hands down, So right, yeah, I can I can
- 11:58stop being second. I mean they were they were going hand in hand.
- 12:00People were talking about you know, they were calling it, you know,
- 12:03Barbie Heimer and yeah, but I could see Nolan gets director and then so
- 12:09that would lead Barbie to get Best Picture. Well, and see that's the
- 12:13problem. That's what's wrong with the Oscars is well, this movie should get
- 12:18this because that movie got that. And it's like it's not about it's it
- 12:24for a lot, you know, for decades, it hasn't been about what
- 12:26the actual best motion pictures then, or the best actual director or the best
- 12:31you know, it's all been I hate people, it's all been about And
- 12:35the problem with best is it's subjective, right, sure, Yeah, some
- 12:41people love a movie, some don't like, Like Chaspis says, Doomed Too
- 12:45will be on the list next year, will it? I guess we'll talk
- 12:48about that later. Well, yeah, we'll talk about that. Do I
- 12:52get to say it it? Yeah, exactly, exactly, So we'll see
- 12:56the oscars are doning. I'm not sure what time. Check your localistians,
- 13:00but there tonight. Yeah, and other news stories you've got, because yeah,
- 13:03we got a few. There is a surprising home on the market right
- 13:09now. See if this looks familiar to you. If not, I'll tell
- 13:11you what it is. Does this home look familiar? Yes, it does.
- 13:18You're trying to place it, like, where the hell do I know
- 13:20this from? Yeah? Where? No? Yeah? I can't, Okay,
- 13:24you'll you'll get at the minute I tell you. It's it's the house
- 13:26that they use for the outside of Roseanne. Oh okay, yeah, yeah,
- 13:31it's been done up. But that's the house and it's currently for sale
- 13:35in Evansville, Indiana for two hundred and twenty five tho the actual house,
- 13:41you know, a different layout than what the show is. Sure, sure,
- 13:43but but this house is a four bedroom, too bath twenty three hundred
- 13:48square feet plus and it looks nice inside. I think that's not a bad
- 13:52price for four bedroom. Yeah right, that's that's pretty good. Looks very
- 13:58stylish Indiana. That's that's that's my neighbor. So yeah, well, if
- 14:05you want some TV history for just under a quarter mill, you could do
- 14:09it right right, absolutely sure. But my favorite little owned tub right in
- 14:15the larger room. Yeah well there's also a shower there if you kind of
- 14:20look. Okay, it's like like a multi room. Yeah, I like
- 14:26it. Whatever. I mean, it's for sale and not really a bad
- 14:28price for what it is, So no, I don't think. Yeah,
- 14:31I just thought people woul get a kick out of that. I'm really surprised
- 14:33they haven't turned into an airbnb, yeah yeah, or or like a you
- 14:39know, a museum front like they've done with the uh, the House from
- 14:43a Christmas Story, Oh yeah yeah, or the the Full House House they've
- 14:48turned that into an airbnb, oh did they? Yeah? Yeah? And
- 14:52also the the Fresh Prince, the original Fresh Prince House. Oh, maybe
- 14:56the new owners would do something like that. Maybe I would, Yeah,
- 15:01by that stay in Roseanne's house. Sure, I wouldn't make the inside look
- 15:05as much like the Roseanne Show as I could, because that seems like,
- 15:09you know, unlike the unlike the other houses that you mentioned, that house
- 15:13for you know, two hundred and thirty million or two hundred thirty thousand dollars
- 15:16two hundred twenty five thousand dollars a payment on that, it's going to be,
- 15:20you know, one thousand dollars a month, less than a thousand dollars
- 15:22a month. Well, you're you're you're thinking your current interest rate. The
- 15:26interest rates now are much higher. That's true. That's it's going to be
- 15:30like sixteen or seventeen. Yeah so, but even so, if you can
- 15:33get a couple of good weekends a month out of that, you know,
- 15:37for a little bit of history. Welcome to real estate Chat, guys.
- 15:41Yeah, in real estate Chat. Yeah, yeah, I can't exactly do
- 15:46that with any Star Trek properties because no, I've never been a Starfleet academy.
- 15:54I want to check that out. You know, I was going to
- 15:56do our last new story, but I think I'll hold off on it.
- 16:00It's a whole list of TV show wild conspiracy theories, and I think that
- 16:06would make a fun supplemental Yeah. Yeah, let's hold on on that.
- 16:11Yeah okay, yeah, so then that's all the news we get into our
- 16:18supplemental spotlight and get into all right, so we are talking June part two,
- 16:34Scott, you recently saw the whole Dune saga. I saw part one
- 16:41on Friday at home, and I saw part two in the theater Saturday morning,
- 16:47So it was I I'm a Dune virgin. I've never seen the Dune.
- 16:51I've never read the books. I didn't see the original movie from eighty
- 16:53four. I've never seen I guess there was series out two. I guess
- 16:56it's a hugely popular. Friend it is. It is the thing that a
- 17:03lot of the things we love are based on. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 17:08I can see that. I can see that. Yeah, you can
- 17:11totally see it once once you watch it. What did you I don't want
- 17:17to go immediately to what did you think about it? Maybe let's let's touch
- 17:21on the story a little bit. Okay, Okay, the story is quite
- 17:25intricate. There's a lot going on here, as Game of Thrones in space
- 17:30I can see that absolutely. There are two main houses that we focus on,
- 17:38very much like houses and Game of Thrones. We have the Pharkanons and
- 17:41the Treats. There's also some sort of prophecy that some messiah will come.
- 17:48The whole thing is they're fighting for Aracus. Aracus is a desert planet,
- 17:52very similar to Tattooining is some of the inspiration. There's a special boy who
- 17:59is not Luke Skywalker. His name is Paula Treats. And everybody is after
- 18:03this mineral called spice. Yes, yeah, if this is all starting to
- 18:08sound a little familiar, it all sounds a little bit familiar. Everyone.
- 18:12The spice will get you very high apparently, and it also is needed for
- 18:17space travel, almost like a di litheum crystal, yeah, or or or
- 18:22mushrooms nowadays. Yeah, And so everyone's fighting for this this property. There
- 18:29are some people who live there, the Furman, and they are the local
- 18:34inhabitants, and they are treated badly to get to the spice. And the
- 18:41prophecy in order to keep them align is that someday some magic special person will
- 18:47come the was it the sin algae or something like that? Yeah, yeah,
- 18:55that he that he will come the voice from from another world, and
- 19:00he will he will restore Aracus and make a Racus great again. Yeah,
- 19:07and so that that's the whole premise. There's a group of magic space nuns,
- 19:14very Jedi ish who kind of control and pull the strings. In the
- 19:17background, there's an evil emperor who's Christopher walking and yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 19:26there's a lot going on here. There is a lot going on.
- 19:30Basically, what you learn throughout the story is that the prophecy is just really
- 19:34there to keep the locals in line. There's no actual prophecy. That's the
- 19:40point of it. Mm hmm, Right, there's some crazy things that happen.
- 19:45Uh, if you really get into the we're gonna do a ton of
- 19:48spoilers, guys. So I'm not seeing this. Yeah, it's been out
- 19:52for a week, you know. Anyways, there is a weird thing where
- 20:00the Bennet Jesuit, which is the space nuns. Basically, we're not okay,
- 20:07everyone, we're not doing experts, right, This is a trick cast,
- 20:11so we're both kind of just picking at this. But basically, they
- 20:17they wanted a plan where they wanted the Harrikans and the trades to be united,
- 20:22right. They wanted those homes houses to be connected. And so when
- 20:30Paula Trady's wife, the Lady Jessica, was pregnant, she was supposed to
- 20:36have a girl. That was the whole point. And apparently because she is
- 20:41also a trained Benny Jesuit, she has the ability to change the sex of
- 20:45her baby while it's stone in the womb. And so she was supposed to
- 20:48have a girl, and that girl was supposed to be married to well,
- 20:53the same Fade Ray, the Austin Butler's character, the crazy Okay, uh
- 21:04yeah, those two were supposed to be married and unite the two houses.
- 21:08That was the plan. But Lady Jessica instead had a boy, Paul,
- 21:14and Paul became a very special boy and uh he became our our Luke Skywalker
- 21:19kind of yes, And so that's what kicks this whole thing off into motion.
- 21:25So yeah, uh oh, the lady does her says that it's not
- 21:36his wife. They should have been married, should have married her? Oh
- 21:37okay, right, right, yes, that's she's right. Jessica is not
- 21:45was not married to is she talking about Jessica? Are you talking about?
- 21:52He? His character even says I should have married you. And then and
- 21:56later on the movie. Uh he she has called his concubine. He called
- 22:03her concubine, so they are not. Okay. That cleared up one of
- 22:07the big things for me that that made no sense because I thought that was
- 22:11why. Yeah, and she's supposed to be Paul's character is apparently a bastard.
- 22:17Okay, okay, yeah, So my my big confusion up until now
- 22:22was I thought she was because she's a HARKing and you find out that's a
- 22:25big spoiler. Yes, I thought, okay, well, wouldn't the houses
- 22:30already be united then, because if she's working and he's okay, yeah,
- 22:33that makes more sense. All right, Yeah, let's get into it.
- 22:37Man. What did you think? Oh? I, I want to go
- 22:41through the little bit of the cast a little bit and okay, my thoughts.
- 22:45I love that we're holding off our actual thoughts. That's great. Yeah.
- 22:48Well yeah, if you don't have anything nice to say. Uh so.
- 22:53Uh Timothy Tam the character plays Paul, I thought he was okay,
- 23:03any number of actors could have played him. We actually thought it would have
- 23:06been fun if Tom Holland had played him opposite of his girlfriend, Zendia.
- 23:11Yeah, Zendia is great, you know, Rebecca Ferguson. I'm a big
- 23:15I love Rebecca Ferguson. She's in the The Mission Impossible franchise. Yeah.
- 23:26Javier Bardon, Uh, yeah, he's He's in No Country for Old Men.
- 23:33He's, you know, a great actor. Fanos himself. Josh Brolins
- 23:37in this you know, I thought he did a fantastic job. Austin Butler,
- 23:44Uh didn't even recognize him under the makeup. I thought they did a
- 23:48I thought the makeup was really good in this movie. How they portrayed some
- 23:52of these kind of what's right? Right? I don't know how to pronounce
- 24:00her last name, Florence Pogue Pew. Okay, she she's the one that
- 24:06played uh Black Widow sister and Black Widow and the franchise. She was good.
- 24:14Uh. Dave Dave Bautista's Dras in the in the m c U.
- 24:25Yeah, he plays Beast. You know, he just he he plays basically
- 24:30the same character. He's an angry warrior. You know he did. I
- 24:33thought he did a fantastic job. Uh. They totally underutilized Christopher Walking uh
- 24:38as as the Emperor. You know who doesn't love Christopher Walking. This cast
- 24:45is absolutely fantastic Scar's guard who plays Baron. Yeah, whatever, his name
- 24:53is. Scar. He's famous being Eric Selvig in the m c U Yeah,
- 25:00in the horror movies. Yeah, yep, could hardly recognize him.
- 25:03I thought he did a fantastic job, a lot of great Oh. Doctor
- 25:10Bengo was in this, that's right. Yes, yeah, he's at the
- 25:14end of the first one and kind of shows up a little bit in the
- 25:15second one. Okay, Babs what is his name past, I don't know.
- 25:22Let me try this, Babs oh LUs Dan mo gun if he plays
- 25:29Jams. Yeah, so I'm sorry, I just butchered his name. Yeah,
- 25:33there are some fantastic The cast is great stack and look I got the
- 25:40Rotten Tomato scores up. It's got a ninety three with critics, It's got
- 25:44a ninety five with audiences. So people love this thing. It is people.
- 25:48People love this. They absolutely love this. Yeah. I couldn't wait
- 25:53till it was over. Okay, this was Star Wars the original trilogy.
- 26:00If Star Wars the Original trilogy was set completely on tattooed right right? That
- 26:07what was going on? This in my mind? And I understand I'm in
- 26:11the minority on this. This was a large sweeping movie. This was an
- 26:17epic tale that was for me very slow. Yes it was. It took
- 26:22forever to get from one point in the story to the next. And I
- 26:29feel like the director was making these grand overtures in cinematography just for the sake
- 26:37of making grand overtures in cinematography. Every shot, every shot was epic,
- 26:44and I'm talking about if they were just you know, going from one place
- 26:47in the desert to the next place in the desert. It was a huge,
- 26:51sweeping shot with a wonderful soundtrack on Zimmer I believe was the one that
- 26:56said this soundtrack just to let you know. Only Devenue the director of this,
- 27:02This is a huge passion project for him. Yeah, and had been
- 27:06planning it since he was a kid. I bet and and the execution was
- 27:11it felt like it was his passion project. So I for me, the
- 27:17story was was you know, I understood it. It was. It was
- 27:21complicated, but I I was able to kind of grasp what was going on.
- 27:25There was there was some points where I was like who is this and
- 27:27what? A lot of the times I was like why why is this going
- 27:32on? And for me, I didn't feel a hatred towards the antagonists the
- 27:41way that I wanted to. You know, I didn't feel the suffering of
- 27:45the of the of the people. I didn't feel I mean, they alluded
- 27:51to, Oh, you know, there's there's slavery, and there's the different
- 27:53class systems. You know, some people live high on the hog and there's
- 27:56people live in the desert that you know, sort of mine whatever. But
- 28:00I didn't feel the the disconnect between the haves and the haves, and that
- 28:04I didn't see the torture. I didn't see that. You know, I
- 28:08thought they did a poor job in making me dislike the antagonists. Okay,
- 28:14yeah, that's fair. What do you Yeah, I think I liked it
- 28:19a little bit better. I appreciated all the technical aspects of making something like
- 28:26this. Oh sure, I did appreciate a lot of the performances. I
- 28:30thought they were great. The story I don't think is for me as much.
- 28:36But I think that's because it had been stripped, mined by so many
- 28:40other properties to highlight things and improve on them, right or simplify so that
- 28:47when you bring in this complex story that that's a little bit of this and
- 28:49a little bit of that. Because they all ripped off dune then to come
- 28:55see the original. Right, Oh, well, that's kind of like this
- 28:57and that those are kind of like and that's kind of like tattooing, and
- 29:00that's that's steeball and for like. So it's I've had too much of that
- 29:07bias, I think to really enjoy it. But I do appreciate it.
- 29:11I think. I think it's a great film. It's just it's not my
- 29:15wheelhouse. Yeah, I'm glad I watched it. Yeah, experience I'll never
- 29:21watch it again. Yeah, I'm glad I was. I'm glad I experienced
- 29:25it. I told somebody to me, it's like country music. I don't
- 29:30like country music, but but I appreciate that. It takes a lot of
- 29:34talent to make that happen, right, right, And that's fine, Like
- 29:38not everything is for everyone, you know. Yeah, I will say this
- 29:45when I learned it, because I was admittedly confused by the stories just watching
- 29:49the movies by themselves. But when I went and I looked things up and
- 29:52I kind of went and found a little bit more of what's going on,
- 29:56then I did appreciate it more, and I I enjoyed it much more that
- 30:02that really did help my enjoyment of it. But I don't think it was
- 30:06crystal clear. I do. I have learned too that apparently this is much
- 30:11different than the books. There there are a lot of different things, like
- 30:14the the baby that that lady Jessica is pregnant with that girl apparently that's who
- 30:21kills the baron that that little girl. Yeah, and instead they used her
- 30:26for a reason for exposition, which fine, And from what I've read on
- 30:32online, a lot of like Doom Officionado or Doune Officionados are actually really happy
- 30:37with that change. That makes more sense. Now. The other thing too
- 30:41is, you know, in filmmaking, it's especially in big blocks of muster
- 30:47movies, we think we're following the protagonists, right. And the whole point
- 30:51apparently with Frank Herbert who wrote Dune, is that Paul is not a good
- 30:56guy. Paul is a cautionary tolet tale of extremely charismatic leaders, and he's
- 31:02not supposed to be a good day at all. So that I don't think
- 31:07is as clear till until the very very end. And yeah, and I
- 31:11think that that needed to be brought up a little bit here and there to
- 31:17kind of show those seeds. Yeah, you know, but it makes it
- 31:22difficult to know who to root for. Yeah, and that's kind of the
- 31:26thing, right, I do think too, Like it's weird for me as
- 31:33as somebody who who you know, if you look at the history of Mexico,
- 31:40right, Mexico and South America or basically taken over by the Kinky Stamers
- 31:45right back in the day. So there's a history of colonialism down there.
- 31:52And what it feels like that this movie is trying to tell you is colonialism
- 31:56is great if you do it the right way, as Paul went originally to
- 32:01be, Oh, I'm gonna be nice to the Furman and we're still going
- 32:04to take their resources, but they're gonna be nice to them as opposed to
- 32:07you know, working with them and trading with them. Right. Yeah,
- 32:12So that that kind of messaging was a little bit weird to me, And
- 32:16I think you could have been a little bit clearer about using that to show
- 32:20that, you know, Paul is not necessarily a good guy either, Like
- 32:22you could have that argument, you know, right, yeah, like I
- 32:27said, give me a reason to hate the bad guys? Yeah, yeah,
- 32:30it wasn't clear in this movie. Yeah, but you know, there's
- 32:35there's supposed to be a part three allegedly that that's what they want to work
- 32:37on. I believe it's Dune Messiah, where we would see the Sun of
- 32:44Paula treads and it's the aftermath of his holy war. Apparently that sun somehow
- 32:49becomes a giant worm and is way more evil than Paul. Oh. I
- 32:55can't wait for that. I mean, yeah, I'll watch it, you
- 33:00know. Yeah, I'll watch it too. About it. We'll do a
- 33:04track cast about it at the end of Yeah. Yeah, But if I
- 33:08had to give this a grade, like a letter grade in school, I
- 33:12would give it a solid beat. Right. I didn't love it. I
- 33:15didn't hate it, but it was all right, your grading systems in line
- 33:21with me, your grading system, because I would give it a C.
- 33:24Okay, Yeah, well I watch it again. Probably not. It's a
- 33:29lot of time, you know, and I feel like it's kind of the
- 33:32film that demands your attention, you know. Yeah, you could throw on
- 33:37in the background. Yeah. So so that's that's where I'm att. I
- 33:43did notice as soon as we started saying how much we didn't like it,
- 33:45we did lose some of yours. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but yeah,
- 33:54yeah, wait, come back. I love dude. Is awesome.
- 33:59Yeah, I mean, we've got to be honest. It's true. That's
- 34:02true. Yeah, So that that's where we're at with things I read.
- 34:07Uh, just a couple of interesting, uh little tidbits about you know,
- 34:12I always go through the I m dB and I always go through the you
- 34:15know, the trivia, uh, Scars guards, body makeup for the what
- 34:22was the baron? Uh he was in a fat suit. Basically. The
- 34:27body makeup took eight hours to apply, two hours to remove for every day
- 34:32of shooting. He didn't drink anything and took emodium pills in order to avoid
- 34:37having to go to the bathroom during shooting days. Oh wow, that's uh
- 34:44yeah, yeah, but yeah, it was uh, it was a I
- 34:55didn't see it in IMAX. I'm told that it's a different experience and I
- 35:00MAX, but I can only imagine, you know, you know, the
- 35:04theater I saw it in it did have a good surround sound system, so
- 35:07yeah, you know, the the sound effects along with the score was very
- 35:14good. I feel like it would have been cool to watch it in that
- 35:17Las Vegas sphere if they put movies in there. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 35:21absolutely, to really immerse yourself in it. I think that'd be great.
- 35:24Yeah, again, it was kind of like watching us the Star Wars.
- 35:29It was kind of like watching Star Wars if the entire episode of most of
- 35:31the episode took place on Tattoo, right right. You know, I understand
- 35:36there's a there's a tonal challenge with having most of your movies set on a
- 35:42on a desert planet. But also, I you know, this might be
- 35:46I don't like dusty things. I don't like sandy things. I don't I
- 35:52don't like movies or Sywalker. You don't like sand? Yeah, I don't
- 35:58like sand. I don't like I don't you know. I spent a little
- 36:01time in the Middle East and I didn't like it. So maybe that's personal
- 36:06bias of vine, but I don't like Yeah, I'm not big on deserts
- 36:09and sand, dust and there's a lot of dust and watching those scenes,
- 36:13did you just feel hot on that? Oh? Yeah, absolutely absolutely?
- 36:17Well okay, no, Well it's funny you bring that up because we watched
- 36:22this in a freezing theater and it was hard to you know, I'm sitting
- 36:28there shivering, and I'm like, the people on screen are really really hot,
- 36:31but they're really really dry when they're not perspiring. So it's hard to
- 36:37It's really hard, I would imagine as a filmmaker to show hot when you
- 36:42can't show perspiration, right, you know, right, And I think that's
- 36:50where maybe the special effects fell a little short. Maybe they should have shown
- 36:53more of like the hot shimmering effect, you know, but it it's it's
- 37:00just the nature of the beast showing hot dry, It's it's very hard to
- 37:05convey that. I think they could have shown stuff like maybe some of the
- 37:08animals, like dead animals on the ground that have been dehydrated, stuff like
- 37:13that to let you know, like, oh, it is really hot in
- 37:15here. And those special suits they wear really do help them. They told
- 37:19us a hundred times about you know, conserving water and you know, don't
- 37:23spit, don't throw up, don't you know. I mean at one point,
- 37:27you know, somebody has sheds a tear and the person goes up to
- 37:30the tear and you know, like that, like we don't waste water except
- 37:37when we waste water, right for the sake of religion, right, we
- 37:40have giant just wells of water that we don't touch. Yeah, it kind
- 37:47of reminded me of like the Bad Max movies where it's like you know,
- 37:52we have to save every single drop of gas lead, yet we're all driving
- 37:57these v eight like gas and would for no reason, right yeah, yeah,
- 38:02yeah it may yeah. Yeah, you know, we'll see allegedly we'll
- 38:13get the part three. They're the same, like maybe twenty twenty six roughly.
- 38:17Yeah, I'll be holding my breath all dead. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:22you know I can't as long as the world still exists. Geez. Yeah,
- 38:29but uh so let's let's probably get to feedback. Yeah, other people
- 38:37have to say about it. Yeah, except in the chat. If you
- 38:38guys want to tell us about how much you you did not like Dune go
- 38:44wanna go ahead and explain away how that works again, Daniel, Yeah,
- 38:49yeah, So we have the ability to bring people on via zoom chat via
- 38:54yeah, kind of like this web chat, and we just have to send
- 38:58you the link, so if you exce up in the chat, we can
- 39:00send you the links so that you can join us. We also do have
- 39:01a phone number for you to call and leave voicemails five seven zero six six
- 39:07one zero zero zero one. And of course we are on social media just
- 39:13about everywhere treck cast, TNNG and we are more than happy to get your
- 39:17feedback. So absolutely, And if you go to any one of those social
- 39:21media sites, you know, your facebooks and your Twitters and all that,
- 39:24leave a comment, leave a like, subscribe, that all helps the algorithm.
- 39:29You know. The more people that get their hands on it and their
- 39:30eyes on it and like it and share it, the more the algorithm shares
- 39:35it with other people. So that's the bigger you can get. So that
- 39:37if you want to help out the show, like, subscribe, share all
- 39:40that stuff. Yeah, give it thumbs up right now, af you're watching
- 39:43the stream that helps YouTube that we're doing it. So yeah, all right,
- 39:49well let's see listener feedback. All right. So our first bit of
- 39:58feedback, believe it or not, is a YouTube comment. This is from
- 40:04our last episode. So we took a week off, and our last episode
- 40:07before was the definitive list of sci fi films. We did our ranking and
- 40:13again as we said that, yoh yeah, as we said, that was
- 40:19the list. If you disagree with it, you're wrong. That was the
- 40:24list. I don't make the rules. This is the list. And so
- 40:31somebody wrote, actually, Max, I believe the same MAXW was in earlier
- 40:38two thousand and one. So space obviously two thousand and one Dune an expanse.
- 40:43If you watch them, they wouldn't be solow. But I understand it's
- 40:45your subjective opinion. You can be wrong again, Max. Maybe there's a
- 40:51translation error. Yeah, yeah, this is the definitive list. This is
- 40:57how it works. We don't make the rules. No, no, no,
- 41:00this is this is the new Bible of list. That's right. I
- 41:05don't know what monster would make these rules. Yeah, the sorry, yeah,
- 41:10this is just what it is. Uh. Yeah. And we also
- 41:15have somebody on the line, someone who wants to tell us how my bad
- 41:17Dune was there. He is jazz biz. Hey it shine floode Okay,
- 41:28okay, which which forgettable character was he in? It's one of the words,
- 41:31I know, that's one of the word. Yeah, you got the
- 41:37budget. Oh no, oh, no, you don't that. Well,
- 41:49no, I have a popcorn colonel in there or something he put on children
- 41:55think your family. This is such a bad design, yeah guy. Or
- 42:04maybe it's the best design, of course I want Thank god, it's soft,
- 42:08you know. Oh, it's not like heard plastic or what are you
- 42:15what are you doing? So for those of you who don't know, yeah,
- 42:23yeah, for those of you who's listening. Chasm is just sticking his
- 42:27hand right into that Dune popcorn bucket, the popcorn bucket special that they had
- 42:37for Dune. A lot of movie theaters were having this popcorn bucket with this
- 42:40topper that resembled the giant sand Uh Civilization eating worm they had Dune and this
- 42:49this, this, this creature was like it was like a Starlac, yeah,
- 42:55produced Star Wars fans, only it was a thousand times aside like Sarlac.
- 43:00It's a giant worm and the opening of his mouth looks like the giant
- 43:06airs. It kind of looks like a whale. Yeah, the bones like
- 43:10they're not nobody likes, right, yeah, nobody like. Well, they
- 43:15made a bucket to simulate this, and it looks it looks bad in an
- 43:22adult way. Yes, I'm trying to find the most diplomatic way to say
- 43:27that. Yes. When I purchased it looks like do you want a regular
- 43:32bucket with it? And I'm like, yes, I don't want to put
- 43:36popcorn in there and have to dig my hand out every time. Yeah,
- 43:38yeah, yeah, I would have to wash the butter off. So Tremmor's
- 43:47five point oh yeah, it's a giant graboid yes, did you hate Dune
- 43:58as well? I liked it. I really liked it. But I've read
- 44:04all the books, okay, And so he took some liberties on this one
- 44:08on on the movie, especially with Zindaia's part, Like she wasn't as paudy
- 44:14in the book as she was in the movie. Yeah, she's pretty gung
- 44:17ho about the whole plan, right, Yeah, but she's all like all
- 44:22pissed off and everything. I'm like, no, she's no. But in
- 44:24the books like her characters like, yeah, she's with them. Yeah,
- 44:29like they even have a kid together, so okay. And then the Emperor
- 44:32kills his kid and that's why he's you know, it makes him angrier.
- 44:37So okay, yeah, yeah, read the read the books and yeah,
- 44:45I've read the books. Well. They didn't mention the Spicing Guild hardly at
- 44:51all, okay, because those are the guys that transport the ships and they
- 44:58take a ton of and they need that spice to fold space because it's you
- 45:06can take a ship and go to another planet without moving right, so you
- 45:09could do it instantly. They didn't really go over that in the much,
- 45:15not like at all. So they said they needed spice to I think the
- 45:19only line I remember hearing from either movie is they need spice for space ravel,
- 45:22but they didn't expect. The only time you probably see like part of
- 45:25the Guild is the very first movie where you see the guys walk out and
- 45:30have these suits on and you see kind of gas emitting from their masks.
- 45:32Okay, those are probably I watched both movies right next to each other.
- 45:39Yeah, but it's like just such a little bitty part that you barely you
- 45:43know, you'd miss it, right. Okay, Now, if you watch
- 45:46Student nineteen eighty four, you see it right off the bat. You see
- 45:50one of the Guild navigators who turned into fish, and see like there's so
- 45:55much spice that like it mutates you, and so they like they have to
- 46:00live in a tank and have to breed nothing but spice. Oh wow,
- 46:07if they you know, if the spice is gone, they're dead and they
- 46:08can't navigate because in the future there's no AI whatsoever. There's no computers right
- 46:15here. It's like with AI everything was supposed to be mechanical, because this
- 46:19is ten thousand years in the future, probably farther than that, because there
- 46:22was basically what happened was Terminator took over right, they overthrew the machines,
- 46:29and then after they overthrew the machines, they banned AI. Oh ok then
- 46:36they fail dimentioned to We're on that timeline right, We're waiting for a to
- 46:38take over first. Yeah no, yeah no, because this is like way
- 46:44past a guy they've they developed. We are currently on that. We're on
- 46:47that trajectory. Yes, yeah, okay, currently yes, yes, you
- 46:52know it'll be like some bad I would just like to personally say to my
- 46:55AI overlords that I respect you and I treat you well, and yeah,
- 47:00I'm here to serve you in any way I can't ye es you laugh.
- 47:07I know, I know the computers know they remember everything. But you know
- 47:12two years from now when this is Trek Cast hosted just by Scotty different Scott
- 47:19in del Ron forty four or whatever. Right, yeah, yeah, chessmin,
- 47:25who's your favorite Paul of Tree? Is it? Is it Kyle McLaughlan
- 47:29or is it? Well, the thing is I grew up with Kyle.
- 47:35That was my first introduction, and plus my first Jurnie Hallick was Patrick Stewart,
- 47:39not Josh Brolind. That's right. Yeah. Josh Rowlan's character was played
- 47:44by Patrick. I was a little bit I saw, yeah he was the
- 47:46original Dune original. Yeah, ohneck, And that's how I knew who Patrick
- 47:54speartt was as a kid. I think I think Scott's gonna be watching the
- 47:58original dude. Now I don't want too, but I'm probably going to know.
- 48:01Yeah, exactly. Well, the baron On there, I would say,
- 48:07is more menacing. And that's how I see the Baron, like you're
- 48:09talking about a menacing character. Yes, the Baron's evil, so purely evil.
- 48:16Yeah, that's true, he's the bad guy. Yeah, he's statistic.
- 48:21And then they left out that Chinese's mom, which would be Chinese's dad
- 48:27in the book or whatever is Leah Kines. They never really mentioned that that's
- 48:34the lady that oh well, she was the hired by the Emperor the planetologists
- 48:39on the first one that say oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 48:43yeah yeah, but that was her father in the in the books and the
- 48:47other movies. So okay. But if he sounds like Billy Deven who kind
- 48:52of like simplified a few things too, yeah, well he said he's not
- 48:55plot heavy, right, and this is a very dense book that's filled with
- 49:00the plot, and so you take a very plot heavy book, and you
- 49:05make it visual, right, you're going to miss a lot of parts because
- 49:09well and I and I listened to an interview with him where he talks about
- 49:13he doesn't really like dialogue, which in something like this you kind of need
- 49:16dialogue to explain. Yes, and there's a ton of dialogue in that book.
- 49:22Yeah. But if you want to see, like, probably the closest
- 49:24thing to it is watch the sci Fi series and it's on YouTube. Okay,
- 49:30do the sci Fi done. It's three parts, and then they do
- 49:35the sequels too. They do Dune Messiah and Children at Dune right after that,
- 49:39and that's all you'll see like what happens immediately. Now, if you
- 49:45want to wait like two years, wait two years and do that. Yeah,
- 49:50I'm going to wait two years. Okay, wait two years. So
- 49:59yeah, but I've watched to Do before I could do more. Yeah,
- 50:04yeah, exactly. Well, the reason why he made Do Messiah because a
- 50:07lot of people, when you read the book, you think Paul's the hero,
- 50:09right, right, and he's not. And and the thing is,
- 50:14it's like you watched other movies, he looks like the hero, Like,
- 50:16yeah, he's complicated, but he's the hero. But doing Messiah, it's
- 50:22like set ten years later or so, and you find out like, no,
- 50:25really, he's not the hero. This is what's happening to the society,
- 50:29and like this is ten years in the future and my sister's soldier.
- 50:35Would it be fair to say Paul is more like Anakin than like Luke Closer?
- 50:40Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't say he was this that the light went
- 50:45off with stronger on that one. Yeah, that kind of makes sense because
- 50:51I was only I was barely aware of like that the turning of Paul's character
- 50:58towards the end of the movie, like you know, like maybe I was
- 51:00getting the hint that he wasn't you know, the purest of protagonists. Right,
- 51:05Well, when he took the water life, that's when he went kind
- 51:09of crazy, right, you know, no man survived it. And plus
- 51:14didn't show the fact that he was in a coma for like two or three
- 51:16weeks. Oh yeah, yeah, he was like everybody I thought he was
- 51:22pretty much dead. And the only pat the time I could ascertain from the
- 51:27movie was how pregnant Rebecca heard Well, and that's the thing is like they
- 51:32didn't overthorrow like she has the baby, but the baby can speak right,
- 51:38because the baby inherited all the memory from the other benaj deserts over years of
- 51:45breeding and so and that's the thing about why they're so pissed off at Paul
- 51:52or the tradees is because she had a boy. She broke the line.
- 51:55So it's to be a thousand generations to have the quizux hat her or whatever.
- 52:01So right, those she jumped it by having a boy because the duke
- 52:06wanted a boy and she was just to have a girl. Okay, okay,
- 52:10and her mom is the reverend mother the other Let me ask you this,
- 52:20would it have been better if this was Dune muppets and they were all
- 52:24Muppet characters like what squiggly guys like the frog is ball and and miss Piggy
- 52:34is Zda's character. I would probably watch that. That would be pretty funny,
- 52:44seeing like it would be pretty great a worm, he'd be still guard
- 52:46you know, God, they're just writing those worms, yeahs. And how
- 52:54many names did Paul have, like fourteen or something? Yeah? That get
- 53:00the worm thing cleared that up for me, man, because you know about
- 53:01this step are they just subways? And that's what it seems like they were
- 53:06using them as I know, it's it's it's weird. The worms like how
- 53:13they they live, you know, like you have to walk without rhythm,
- 53:15that's how they have to sand. Yeah, they had to do this weird
- 53:21walk. I sort of understood that. Yeah, the warrants there. Yeah,
- 53:29that's why I like, you know, I've seen videos of Timmy sle
- 53:31dancing and he doesn't have rhythm. He doesn't need to worry about it.
- 53:36You can just walk is good at it. So that whole thing about the
- 53:45walking and the giants, it's like all I kept thinking is like, okay,
- 53:51so you got these these giant I mean the id of looking worms are
- 54:00attracted to rhythmic thumping, and I'm like, yeah, come rhythm a dancer.
- 54:08You have to remember, Scott, guilty feet have got no rhythm.
- 54:12So if you got rhythm, you got guilty feet. If you got rhythm.
- 54:16Yeah, those words are a well okay, remember uh may easy to
- 54:22pretend beetle juice when he opens up the door and they're trying to leave the
- 54:25house and you see the sad worms pop out. Yeah, I guarantee you
- 54:29that's where you're Oh, I'm sure that those are basically that's where you got
- 54:32it. You know. Yeah, yeah, now I've got that song stuck
- 54:37in my head. It's like guilty feet of Scott rhythm. Yeah. No,
- 54:40it's easy to pretend. I think the only thing in my head that
- 54:45was bumb boom because they use it for those of you don't know, they
- 54:51use these rhythmic okay, well yeah, it's called a thumper. They put
- 54:55these things in the sand that that make this you know, it make the
- 55:00like they go up and down, they go thump thump against the sand,
- 55:02and it attracts these giant you know, I'm gonna call them v worms.
- 55:07Uh that that swallow. I mean they're they're huge, They're giant. They
- 55:14can swallow up you know, uh, like this giant vehicle of many,
- 55:19many hundreds of people at a time if they wanted to. And there are
- 55:22of different sizes too. Some of them are you know, really big and
- 55:25some are huge and uh yeah, he's right, the worms are. That's
- 55:31what they're eating is warm pood pretty much. But it has it smells like
- 55:37cinnamon, So I guess, yes, it's a warm sign and that's why
- 55:44they always well then say in the maybe because it's called warm sign and it's
- 55:47like there's warm signing somebody's coming. But there's like a spice mass and the
- 55:52spice is warm pod pretty much. Well, then that explains why the spice
- 55:55is only on that planet because of the worms. Yes, and like they
- 55:59tried to trains for the worms to other planets, but only Aracus is attracted
- 56:04to the worms for some reason, which kind of leaves the question if you
- 56:07need that spice for space travel. M hmm, how did they get there
- 56:13in the first place. They well, AI, they had ships that could
- 56:17take them there with the banned AI and say they had to use the thing
- 56:22is refugees too there they're not originally from there, and they brought a thing
- 56:30called sand trout, and the sand trout turned into the worm over the millennia,
- 56:36So okay, because they brought the sand trouts so they could eat it.
- 56:40And then but the thing is they had no water and that's what happened,
- 56:45okay, And it's it's it's weird, like it goes deeper in the
- 56:50books and you're like scratching your head and like, holy crap, the dune's
- 56:52very Yeah, this sounds like a lot more than you know. Okay,
- 56:58we're saying it's really caught us and everything. But honestly, if you broke
- 57:01down Star Trek and we're like, well, there's the Federation and then there's
- 57:06a klingon if you're trying to like and that like money, yeah, yeah,
- 57:12it's just as complex. So imagine if the Frangie had was given the
- 57:16Federation money all right, and they controlled it and they're trying to take over,
- 57:24you know, the whole world with you know, they hold the di
- 57:28lithium or whatever. Yeah, to travel for their trade. That's kind of
- 57:31what the Guild is. So yeah, yeah, it's like they have a
- 57:35whole monopoly on that and nobody else can pretty much space travel without the Guild.
- 57:43You have to have a kild navigator, so you're pretty much stuck in
- 57:46your own solar system because you're going at whatever speed the ships go. So
- 57:52yeah, and then that they failed to mention to the mentats. The mentats
- 57:55are human computers, like in the first maybe do for whatever. He's kind
- 58:01of the bigger guy that was with Duke leto his eyes like rolling the back
- 58:07of his head. Yeah, like he's caulking, like the undertaker about the
- 58:10tombstone somebody. Yes, he's like he's calculating because they yeah. Yeah,
- 58:16let's say it's right in the future, they've mutated their minds, they've taken
- 58:21spice and other things, and this is what's given them kind of powers.
- 58:27So what did you think about Christopher Walkins portrayal. Yeah, let's talk about
- 58:31that. I think Patrick Stewart, since he was in the first one,
- 58:36should have been the Emperor. I thought that too, because I'm sitting there
- 58:39thinking it's like, like you needed to have a menacing presence right there,
- 58:45not not really, you know, somebody that showed bring him, let him
- 58:53like he could have been something I feel like the I love Christopher Walking,
- 58:59but Christopher walk is Christopher Walking in every movie that he's in. I know,
- 59:02yeah, the whole time I kept on seeing him. Yeah, I
- 59:06thought that the Emperor should have been like a Taiwan Lanister type character, older
- 59:10but you know lot, you know, right, formidable, because I was
- 59:16I'm reading here that many fans objected to Christopher Walking because he's white, playing
- 59:22a role previously played by his Hispanic character actor nineteen eighty four and in the
- 59:32mini series okay, this mini series. Did you I'm assuming you watched the
- 59:37mini series from two thousand, mm hmm, yeah, I finished it last
- 59:42night. It's on YouTube, so you can watch it on YouTube, right,
- 59:44Okay, yeah, we just talked about that, So would that help
- 59:47if we watched that. Yes, it would help out a lot, it
- 59:52would and fill on some gaps. Okay, it would help. I'll get
- 59:57to it right after, right after I get to all the other things I
- 1:00:00haven't. I'm actually five episodes into a rewatch of Discovery, so I was
- 1:00:07inspired by Dan. Dan said he's watching rewatching Discovery season season one, which
- 1:00:14I think is incredibly noble Dan to do. He's making a sacrifice and you
- 1:00:20know, if he's gonna if he's gonna stand up on that desk and say,
- 1:00:23after my captain, I'm doing time to recovery exactly recovery right now?
- 1:00:30Yeah, they do. I'll be glad to once the season. I'm gonna
- 1:00:43try to get the entire series done by the time uh uh the season comes
- 1:00:47out. And I'm, yeah, I'm it's it's I know, it's uh,
- 1:00:55it's all that I'm watching while i'm you know, my lunch is at
- 1:00:58work and well working out, and it's like I'm I'm I'm forsaking all other
- 1:01:04programs for this month. So I'm just trying to power through discovery. So
- 1:01:09I just got done with the Harry Mud episode, and that was a good
- 1:01:14episode. It was Star Trek episode of the whole series. I think up
- 1:01:19until that episode, it's the that's the only episode that I actually remember watching.
- 1:01:23When I watched the first episode, I had almost no memory of it.
- 1:01:28Yeah I remember watching. Yeah, I don't like that. I I
- 1:01:36didn't. It was so forgettable for me. But also it's kind of like
- 1:01:40watching it for the first time. But I also get to focus on other
- 1:01:45things, like how like I don't have to focus on how horrible I hate
- 1:01:47the cling on storyline. Yes, I can focus on things that I like.
- 1:01:53You're not like looking at their makeup and you're like, oh my god,
- 1:01:57their makeup looks awful, right, exactly. I can just get past
- 1:02:00it. But yeah, because you already know, the shock is already over.
- 1:02:04Who was the actor that died? He played the klingon Oh Ash Tyler
- 1:02:07whatever his name is? No, no, no, I'm talking about the
- 1:02:09Actually he had a Oh yeah, he last time Kenneth something. Yes,
- 1:02:16that's right, I'll have to look figure out which Kenneth Mitchell. Ye,
- 1:02:21yeah, he was at he was at Star Trek Chicago. Yeah he was,
- 1:02:25he was, Yeah, he just and like you see him in the
- 1:02:30first season, he's moving around and then the sex syson second season, that's
- 1:02:34when he got diagnosed pretty much, and then it's just it was sad to
- 1:02:37see that, such a terrible disease. Man. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 1:02:43oh, who's Doug Jones. I listened to an interview yesterday with Doug Jones
- 1:02:46and it was pretty good. He was talking about the cruise and everything about
- 1:02:50such a thing. He does such a fantastic job as Saru. I mean
- 1:02:53I'm watching as I'm rewatching those first five episodes. I mean, his his
- 1:02:59acting range. I'm just loving that character even more the second time. Great
- 1:03:02man, he's great. Yeah yeah, all right, Well, anything else
- 1:03:07you want to bring up, Chaz biz, that's that's it. What's our
- 1:03:10topic next week or whenever? Oh, I don't know, we'll figure it
- 1:03:15out. We'll You've got Ghostbusters coming out the end of this month, and
- 1:03:19that'd be a good Joe Guy uh supplemental on Ghostbusters. I'm gonna go.
- 1:03:22Yeah, that's kind of the plan. That is the plan. Yeah,
- 1:03:25do that that comes out just before If I remember Recon, I was looking
- 1:03:30at the schedule. I think Ghostbusters comes out and then there's a week after
- 1:03:36and I figured that's when we can do our prediction show and then Discovery starts
- 1:03:39back up. Yeah, so twenty second comes out. So that's basically those
- 1:03:45two episodes. We have plans for the next one coming out. We got
- 1:03:49to figure that out, okay, yeah, all right, Well, thanks
- 1:03:52chessmister for being on, and go enjoy your popcorn bucket. Yeah, it
- 1:03:58is your business to see it as always. Yeah. Really, we'll post
- 1:04:05the pictures of this bucket on like Facebook. Yeah. I can put cleanexes
- 1:04:15in there, you know, I know, no, no, no there,
- 1:04:21yeah, oh no, it could be a tooth brush holder. I
- 1:04:26don't know. Yeah, yeah, what can I do with this thing?
- 1:04:30Oh goodness, back in the day, I probably hitting my pot in there,
- 1:04:34so yeah, I could see that. That sounds right, all right,
- 1:04:42man, thanks for being on. All right, good to see a
- 1:04:44chance. All right, So dun episode probably a little different than everybody thought.
- 1:04:54Yeah, all right, Well, anything else we want to bring up,
- 1:05:00yeah, I think that's it. We'll conspire together about what's going to
- 1:05:04be happening next week. Yeah, we'll figure it out absolutely, all right,
