- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Say Hester and Hester got a pottle pot.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to a natty to carrying each
- 0:10Speaker 1: other on.
- 0:11Speaker 3: The air where there's prop control, live.
- 0:17Speaker 1: From the Raising Caine Studio.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's off the bench.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Can't say all right, welcome back in OTB Hour number
- 1:13Speaker 4: three here live from the Raisin Caine Studio.
- 1:21Speaker 5: As we all know, Spring Meeting is going on right
- 1:23Speaker 5: now down in dustin Florida. And look, one of the
- 1:29Speaker 5: things that has come.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Out of there is there's you know, kind of, at
- 1:34Speaker 4: least for me, the way I'm interpreting things, it's like
- 1:36Speaker 4: SEC versus.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Everybody kind of feel to it right now. And like
- 1:44Speaker 5: Kirby Smart.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Even like even talked, like hinted that maybe the SEC
- 1:48Speaker 4: kind of does its own thing. I don't want that.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I don't I don't want it to be point that's
- 1:54Speaker 4: where you get to. Here's some quotes from Kirby. I've
- 1:59Speaker 4: said this for a long time to our president. I've
- 2:02Speaker 4: been a huge advocate that if we can't find rules
- 2:05Speaker 4: that everybody plays by, then we should play our own.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I'm not afraid of that. I'm not afraid to break
- 2:11Speaker 4: away and say that our conference is strong enough to
- 2:15Speaker 4: go out and play.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Now. The SEC is big ticket. We all know that.
- 2:29Speaker 4: But I don't want the SEC to go do its
- 2:31Speaker 4: own thing where you just have like a sixteen team
- 2:34Speaker 4: league and then like you just play each other and
- 2:38Speaker 4: then you crown a champion.
- 2:41Speaker 5: I don't think anybody wants that now, the.
- 2:43Speaker 6: SEC, unless you went and recruited ten other teams.
- 2:49Speaker 4: The SEC is right now, you know, having those conversations
- 2:52Speaker 4: about the College Football Playoff, and we talked about that,
- 2:55Speaker 4: We talked about other conferences.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Like already kind of being okay with it, ready to
- 3:00Speaker 5: go in.
- 3:01Speaker 4: The SEC's like hold up, wait a minute, we have
- 3:02Speaker 4: until December first, Like we're we're gonna wait a while,
- 3:05Speaker 4: like we're gonna hang out here.
- 3:06Speaker 5: We're not going to just jump into this. And so
- 3:10Speaker 5: they're kind of on an island by themselves right now. Hmm. Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 6: When he when I saw the court, I didn't even
- 3:17Speaker 6: really I didn't really know what he meant. I assumed
- 3:19Speaker 6: that he meant like we'll just play each other and
- 3:24Speaker 6: straight away, like not be under the NCAA brand. Is
- 3:28Speaker 6: that what he's trying to say, is that even possible?
- 3:35Speaker 6: I don't even know what it means. Like, what does
- 3:36Speaker 6: that mean for the other sports at the university?
- 3:39Speaker 5: You know what I mean? I didn't.
- 3:41Speaker 6: I didn't understand what that means. But like when you
- 3:43Speaker 6: say it like that, like do your own thing with
- 3:44Speaker 6: sixteen teams? Yeah, you can't. You can't do that. But
- 3:47Speaker 6: I mean, is it a strong enough brand to go
- 3:50Speaker 6: recruit ten or fifteen other schools? A lot of other
- 3:54Speaker 6: leagues have around thirty teams in them.
- 4:00Speaker 5: But no, I don't want to do that. I don't.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Yeah, Like again, like, h what would make him say that? Well,
- 4:12Speaker 6: I think this mostly started in response to the playoff expansion. Well,
- 4:18Speaker 6: I think it was that college football is a mess.
- 4:23Speaker 4: And Kirby's, you know, been really out front and wanting
- 4:27Speaker 4: to have an idea of which rules we're playing by
- 4:30Speaker 4: if everybody's playing about the same set of rules. Another
- 4:43Speaker 4: another quote that he had was, I'm not advocating that
- 4:48Speaker 4: players make less money. I'm fine with student athletes and
- 4:51Speaker 4: what they make. I'm trying to make it where it's
- 4:54Speaker 4: as equal and it's comparable for everyone, not a race
- 5:01Speaker 4: to the bottom, as they say. So being there at
- 5:05Speaker 4: spring meetings before and having these conversations like these coaches,
- 5:09Speaker 4: they do want it where there's an idea of what
- 5:12Speaker 4: it's supposed to look like, and everybody kind of having
- 5:14Speaker 4: an idea of what you can and can't do. And
- 5:17Speaker 4: it's it's the reason that I made the switch to
- 5:21Speaker 4: the NFL.
- 5:22Speaker 5: In the afternoons.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't really even like talking about
- 5:26Speaker 4: it because there's no rules to talk about. It's not oh,
- 5:29Speaker 4: this team can do this because there's a salary cap.
- 5:31Speaker 4: This team can do that because they're this much under
- 5:34Speaker 4: the salary cap.
- 5:35Speaker 5: There's a draft where.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Each team starts with the same amount of picks, and
- 5:38Speaker 4: you can trade those picks and you can get comp picks,
- 5:40Speaker 4: but every team starts with the same amount of picks.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Everybody has the same set of rules.
- 5:44Speaker 4: There's a you know, a letter of the law in
- 5:49Speaker 4: the NFL, and I just think the coaches are just
- 5:53Speaker 4: really tired of not having that, not having the same
- 5:57Speaker 4: thing that everybody goes off, of not having an idea
- 6:00Speaker 4: of what you can and can do. Like we were
- 6:02Speaker 4: talking about it earlier with LSU basketball, Like, I don't
- 6:05Speaker 4: know who's going to be eligible.
- 6:07Speaker 5: I don't know. All of them could be, none of
- 6:09Speaker 5: them could be. Some of them could be.
- 6:12Speaker 4: And guys like Krbie Smarter, you know, and drink whats
- 6:16Speaker 4: is like this, and all those coaches, every coach you
- 6:18Speaker 4: talk to, just like, let's all have a set of
- 6:22Speaker 4: rules that we all follow and we all play by
- 6:26Speaker 4: instead of just kind of guessing, just kind of.
- 6:28Speaker 5: And they do have sort of a set of rules
- 6:32Speaker 5: to play with the rev share, But it's the.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Let's bring everybody back, let's fight the rules of eligibility
- 6:44Speaker 6: because we're going to threaten lawsuits or actually file lawsuits.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Those are the rules. And I guess what he's talking
- 6:51Speaker 6: about is the pay for play. I don't like that
- 6:57Speaker 6: marketing agreements can be written into tracks for kids at college.
- 7:02Speaker 6: It should be a marketing agreement on the side, like
- 7:04Speaker 6: on its own. But if there's there's a certain handful,
- 7:11Speaker 6: maybe two handfuls of coaches that have the clout and
- 7:16Speaker 6: have the ask to make a difference currently, and Kirby
- 7:23Speaker 6: Smarts is certainly one of them. So when he speaks,
- 7:25Speaker 6: you listen. He is allowed to have an opinion. He
- 7:30Speaker 6: should be allowed to have a vote at the table.
- 7:35Speaker 6: I don't know if they have a vote, Like Mike
- 7:36Speaker 6: Elko said it the other day, like we're not decide anything,
- 7:39Speaker 6: We're giving opinions. What is anybody listening to those opinions? Well,
- 7:43Speaker 6: Kerby Smart is earn't the right too for people to
- 7:45Speaker 6: listen to an opinion at least, and I agree, like,
- 7:47Speaker 6: I can't stand the state of college sports off the field.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Off the field, I love it. On the field.
- 7:56Speaker 6: It's still a great product, and viewership is the remains
- 7:59Speaker 6: to take every single year, and I get that. So
- 8:02Speaker 6: it's hard to argue against what it's happening. But I
- 8:04Speaker 6: think everybody can agree that it's just messed up off
- 8:08Speaker 6: the field. So I don't know what the solution is.
- 8:11Speaker 6: But Kirby Smart is saying, like, look, we can we
- 8:14Speaker 6: band together and at least threaten the nuclear option is
- 8:18Speaker 6: what he's saying, Like, we'll just leave and start our
- 8:20Speaker 6: own league. We got sixteen teams. It'll never happen. He's
- 8:23Speaker 6: not being serious. That will never happen. But if that
- 8:26Speaker 6: threats out, there may be something fixes. But what what
- 8:30Speaker 6: is going to get fixed?
- 8:31Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I don't know what's realistic can do because all right,
- 8:35Speaker 4: so there's a bipartising college sports bill that a lot
- 8:38Speaker 4: of people are talking about.
- 8:40Speaker 5: How many of these have we seen? How many have
- 8:42Speaker 5: we had?
- 8:43Speaker 4: How many times are people going to have to go
- 8:45Speaker 4: to Washington, DC and sit in front of the president
- 8:48Speaker 4: and talk about it?
- 8:49Speaker 5: What's it mean? Though? What can you hold up in
- 8:51Speaker 5: the courts?
- 8:53Speaker 4: Because like there's one that just came across the wire,
- 8:56Speaker 4: and they want salary cat for college athletic compensation, want
- 9:00Speaker 4: one free transfer limit for athletes, regulation of nil agents
- 9:04Speaker 4: and collectives, restrictions on coaches leaving schools during the season,
- 9:08Speaker 4: a creation of a new College Sports Commission n CUAA,
- 9:12Speaker 4: and conferences would receive anti trust protection. They want all
- 9:15Speaker 4: those things, But how many times are we going to.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Talk about it?
- 9:20Speaker 6: All those things are great, Yeah, there's nobody out there
- 9:24Speaker 6: unless you are like somebody that cheers for chaos and
- 9:27Speaker 6: loves it. Like everybody could agree that objectively, those are
- 9:31Speaker 6: all good rules.
- 9:32Speaker 5: How do you implement it?
- 9:34Speaker 6: We've we've obviously struggled on the implementation of rules because
- 9:38Speaker 6: it usually comes down to a state by state argument,
- 9:41Speaker 6: and no state's going to penalize there.
- 9:43Speaker 5: In states they're not going to.
- 9:45Speaker 6: It has to be and that's what we're talking about,
- 9:47Speaker 6: like commission, like a committee that rules it, which was
- 9:49Speaker 6: what the NCAA should be.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Well, they have no power now, but they did it
- 9:54Speaker 5: to themselves.
- 9:56Speaker 6: They got nobody to blame. So like a government, nobody
- 9:58Speaker 6: that didn't govern. I'm on I'm on board with Kirby.
- 10:01Speaker 6: Let's start a new league SEC, bring in sixteen more teams,
- 10:08Speaker 6: recruit them so I have a thirty two What other
- 10:10Speaker 6: NFL or what if I already said it, what other
- 10:14Speaker 6: football league got thirty two teams?
- 10:18Speaker 5: What other NFL league?
- 10:21Speaker 6: You'll never guess? Where's it tough? Sometimes this good. Let's
- 10:27Speaker 6: just double the SEC size right now.
- 10:29Speaker 3: They want to pull a Texas, they want to succeed.
- 10:31Speaker 6: Yeah, it's very professional sports. Let's do it and then
- 10:34Speaker 6: just make rules there.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Let's go.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I'm sure there's sixteen other good teams with good brands.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I would do it.
- 10:43Speaker 7: You gotta do something, man, because like you talked about,
- 10:46Speaker 7: you talk about state, about state, and it's like the
- 10:48Speaker 7: NCAA should be able to govern.
- 10:50Speaker 6: But again, all these.
- 10:52Speaker 7: Courtroom warriors that I'm gonna call them, and these are
- 10:54Speaker 7: judges that are up there, Jesus, we're gonna rule against this.
- 10:57Speaker 7: We're gonna rule against that. Like, let have a governing body,
- 11:02Speaker 7: let them make rules, let them actually be the governing body.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Just kind of stay the hell out of it. I'm
- 11:08Speaker 6: liking this more and more than we talked about it. Kirby,
- 11:10Speaker 6: let's go. You don't think you can convince Dabodabo to
- 11:14Speaker 6: old school Dabo to join a new league that's gonna
- 11:16Speaker 6: have rules of regulations. Oh yeah, Dabo's a big Dabo's
- 11:22Speaker 6: in saving US commission. You're gonna get everybody. Ryan Day
- 11:29Speaker 6: is coming. You don't think Texas texts coming. They can
- 11:37Speaker 6: get their quarterback back.
- 11:40Speaker 5: He got denied yesterday to your point, like a new league.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Maybe maybe he didn't. He didn't cheat that new league.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Hey, and when Kirby talks, people do listen for sure.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I mean he's one of the faces and voices of
- 11:53Speaker 4: college football.
- 11:54Speaker 5: We all know that.
- 11:59Speaker 4: But the SEC really, like, I mean, the SEC would
- 12:03Speaker 4: have to have the Big Ten, and the Big Ten
- 12:05Speaker 4: would have to have the SEC. Like if you wanted
- 12:08Speaker 4: to do that, all right, let's talk. But you can't imagine.
- 12:13Speaker 4: But who would have thought we'd ever be where we're
- 12:16Speaker 4: at right now? To be fair of where we're currently at.
- 12:21Speaker 4: So hey, so you enter out, do you want the
- 12:24Speaker 4: new league?
- 12:26Speaker 6: What are we gonna call it College Pro Football League
- 12:37Speaker 6: c NFL.
- 12:40Speaker 5: CFL has already taken, so you're going.
- 12:42Speaker 6: Yeah, College National Football League, you can partner with Goodell
- 12:46Speaker 6: and the thirty two teams all affiliated.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, like a triple a kind of thing.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Yeah. I like that.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I don't hate this.
- 12:56Speaker 7: Each team has an affiliate like LSU and Saints obviously.
- 12:59Speaker 5: NFL Minor League Football something.
- 13:02Speaker 7: That mL the my high college football league.
- 13:09Speaker 5: It just means more.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I hate it. No, like I hate the idea of
- 13:18Speaker 3: like just becoming your own thing. I don't agree with Kirby.
- 13:23Speaker 6: I think that we've gotten here.
- 13:25Speaker 3: I don't like the chaos either, But I just don't
- 13:27Speaker 3: think that's the answer.
- 13:28Speaker 5: So George's President it would.
- 13:32Speaker 4: George's President went on on three last week and said
- 13:36Speaker 4: that if federal legislation, legislation isn't kind of brought in
- 13:43Speaker 4: to all of this to kind of go over everything,
- 13:48Speaker 4: that they would be prepared to vote on creating an
- 13:51Speaker 4: SEC mechanism and SEC rules and said that's what we
- 13:56Speaker 4: have to do.
- 13:57Speaker 6: I like this. I start of the segment not knowing
- 14:06Speaker 6: and no, Notre Dame is not invited.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Not invited.
- 14:10Speaker 3: So you're talking about like sixty seventeen, obviously joking in
- 14:13Speaker 3: the chat sixty seventeen Playoff one hundred and thirty sixteen,
- 14:16Speaker 3: Why don't we just make the entire college football season
- 14:19Speaker 3: a playoffs?
- 14:21Speaker 5: We one, you first have a one game season.
- 14:23Speaker 7: Yeah, you lose Round one, Sorry, you're out in September.
- 14:27Speaker 3: No, it could be like quintuplet elimination or like quadruple elimination.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Yeah like that, Like you lose four games, you're dune.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Yeah, right, you're out season.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Should we get a poll started? Like if the SEC
- 14:41Speaker 6: was the breakoff for the NCAA, add some teams, would
- 14:47Speaker 6: you want LSU.
- 14:47Speaker 5: To join it?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Okay, that's a great question.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Would you want Like you govern your own self, You
- 14:55Speaker 6: create a rules, you put a salary cap in place,
- 14:58Speaker 6: you had a committee, limited transfers, you had a better
- 15:03Speaker 6: schedule in the season, calendar year.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Well, you have a cool name though in a place
- 15:11Speaker 5: like Georgia.
- 15:12Speaker 4: I mean, so not only does your president say that,
- 15:14Speaker 4: and then Kirby kind of goes back after what his
- 15:16Speaker 4: president said and said, I mean, if we could actually
- 15:19Speaker 4: function and it financially would make our programs more stable
- 15:22Speaker 4: and we could support things financially.
- 15:24Speaker 5: I'm talking about all the sports and do it by
- 15:27Speaker 5: our own set of rules. I'd be all for that.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I mean, I've been to this meeting now ten eleven times,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and it's frustrating at times to say, well, we can't
- 15:39Speaker 4: do this because of litigation. We can't do this because
- 15:43Speaker 4: we'll get sued, we can't do that. It would go
- 15:47Speaker 4: on to say, I'm not advocating that, you know, we
- 15:51Speaker 4: make drastic changes all off one meeting, but I've been
- 15:54Speaker 4: here too many times, talked about the same things over
- 15:57Speaker 4: and over again.
- 15:58Speaker 6: What's frustrated on that is he's talking about, like what
- 16:01Speaker 6: we can't do because of litigation. When it really gets
- 16:04Speaker 6: ugly is when universities say what we can do because
- 16:07Speaker 6: of litigation. That's where it starts to get even more sloppy.
- 16:13Speaker 6: What we can do, we can play this guy because
- 16:16Speaker 6: we're gonna litigate. You're gonna you're gonna have to prove it,
- 16:20Speaker 6: prove me wrong. So it's, uh, it's sloppy. And I'd
- 16:25Speaker 6: like to see what what you guys think listening out there.
- 16:28Speaker 6: I'd like to see what y'all think if that was
- 16:31Speaker 6: if you could somehow create and like look, let let
- 16:34Speaker 6: Saban and all his coaching disciples all come out together
- 16:38Speaker 6: and say the same thing. That's a lot of power.
- 16:40Speaker 6: That has a lot of power out there. So I
- 16:42Speaker 6: don't even know if it's realistic. It's probably a threat, it's
- 16:44Speaker 6: probably posturing, but it's got us thinking. So what are
- 16:47Speaker 6: your thoughts if there was a league that's separated out
- 16:50Speaker 6: away from the NCAA to create its own seat of
- 16:52Speaker 6: normal rules and brought a little stability to college sports
- 16:56Speaker 6: in that league, would you be in favor of LSU joining?
- 16:59Speaker 4: Let us know when the chat let us know on
- 17:01Speaker 4: the text line two two five four four five more
- 17:04Speaker 4: ot B when we come back here live from the
- 17:06Speaker 4: Raisin King Studio.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Off the Bench.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Locked in UNSU football twenty four to seven you're listening
- 17:17Speaker 1: to Off the Bench goes down.
- 17:20Speaker 2: On my side of town, that lonesome feeling comes to mind.
- 17:27Speaker 2: O world fun.
- 17:32Speaker 8: Blue.
- 17:36Speaker 5: There's a run down ball across the railroad track.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I got a table for two way back where I've said.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Alone, think of losing. You mean what a banger? I've
- 17:55Speaker 5: been most temperate. I didn't any.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Football league to play this in the stadium.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I said, I'd be behind any football league that like this.
- 18:08Speaker 9: You say, banger, The banger, I barely know.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Why are you the way you are? And then the
- 18:22Speaker 4: Lundra's enabler over there, thank you.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I think we said kind of at the same time.
- 18:28Speaker 3: That's my favorite joke to make.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I'd say it went good. Mm hmm. That's why you
- 18:37Speaker 5: the way you are.
- 18:40Speaker 6: So God baby true and his likeness and I have
- 18:44Speaker 6: a disease.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Unlike what Justin Timberlake said back in the day, he
- 18:48Speaker 4: did not spend a little bit more time on you.
- 18:51Speaker 5: He did not he rush ordered that thing rush ordered.
- 18:58Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 18:59Speaker 6: You didn't didn't spend a little bit of time with
- 19:02Speaker 6: these ankles.
- 19:03Speaker 4: That's the only d spend. Time went so quickly. That's
- 19:05Speaker 4: why there's so much weight down there. Yeah, I mean
- 19:09Speaker 4: I don't do that out there.
- 19:11Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:13Speaker 6: You see these short shorts, you got it flying it?
- 19:16Speaker 5: Who wear short shorts? Check these babies out like that?
- 19:19Speaker 5: See they're high rocks.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Athlete thinking about doing one in November. That would might
- 19:23Speaker 6: mean I would miss it a Friday in football season.
- 19:28Speaker 6: What do you think the Alabama game?
- 19:30Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:31Speaker 6: It's in November at some point. I don't know the
- 19:32Speaker 6: exact dates.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Buddy, You can miss a Friday in May. You can
- 19:36Speaker 4: miss one in June. You can even miss them in July.
- 19:40Speaker 4: You ain't missing a Friday in September football Friday.
- 19:43Speaker 6: I said November or then either. But this is America.
- 19:48Speaker 6: It's a free country. But you get paid to be here.
- 19:54Speaker 3: You don't know how to do PTO and you don't.
- 19:56Speaker 6: It's true, but if I did, I would also, for
- 19:59Speaker 6: at least a few d is get paid to out here.
- 20:03Speaker 5: That works. It works if you knew how to get
- 20:05Speaker 5: into the website and you knew how to log into
- 20:07Speaker 5: that app. Mm hm.
- 20:09Speaker 3: To be fair, I did try to show you, and
- 20:10Speaker 3: yours is like messed up.
- 20:11Speaker 6: Well I think they said they fixed it, but I
- 20:15Speaker 6: haven't gotten in to prove it.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Yeah, like I said, they didn't spend extra time on you.
- 20:19Speaker 6: So you're telling me I can't have something to train
- 20:23Speaker 6: for to get my body in shape and stay healthy
- 20:26Speaker 6: for longevity.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Why don't you just train to train? I have to
- 20:31Speaker 5: have something to train for. I don't do it.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Because training is not fun. It can be unless you
- 20:39Speaker 6: have something to train for. No, it can't be if
- 20:41Speaker 6: you're doing it right.
- 20:42Speaker 3: It's not fun, all right, it's not fun, but it
- 20:47Speaker 3: can be gratifying. Whenever you see the gratifying.
- 20:51Speaker 5: It's super gratifying.
- 20:52Speaker 6: But like if you have fun working out of training,
- 20:55Speaker 6: you're not doing it right. You can, you can, it's
- 21:01Speaker 6: fun afterwards, feel great, awesome, but it's like you gotta
- 21:04Speaker 6: get there, you gotta get to you gotta get to
- 21:05Speaker 6: the end.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Yeah, hates America like Flint hates ankle weights.
- 21:12Speaker 6: M Thurness met doesn't need ankle weights. They're built in.
- 21:16Speaker 6: They don't fit. It's gonna lean into it. I actually
- 21:21Speaker 6: think I have very nice ankles. You can clearly see
- 21:24Speaker 6: where the caps starts and the ankle ends.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Honestly, I'm a hypocrite because I probably I got I
- 21:32Speaker 3: got a little kinkle situation going on too.
- 21:34Speaker 6: So okay, just strong, Yeah, they're just strong. I mean you,
- 21:39Speaker 6: I mean, who are you talking about? Fat ankles? All right,
- 21:44Speaker 6: we should we should do the circumference of your night.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Ankles got tape measurable? I don't. We should get one.
- 21:49Speaker 6: I bet there's one in the building.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Let's measure everybody's ankles in here.
- 21:54Speaker 6: There's gotta be solid ones though the soft measure take Yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 6: like I would.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Have not you, Taylor, he probably don't get that one.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Taylor with the I yeah, I don't think you're gonna
- 22:06Speaker 4: like your measurement. Anyways, we're supposed to talk about Oh yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 4: allege football.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Something you did that? Did we get a pull up?
- 22:18Speaker 5: You tease it? That's what she said. All right, I
- 22:24Speaker 5: can see where this is going.

- 24:37Speaker 5: Jeff, what's going on? Brother? How we doing?
- 24:39Speaker 8: Have we living less? Brother?
- 24:41Speaker 10: You know, with food, a chef's objective is to attach
- 24:48Speaker 10: a memory to food, and you guys just did that
- 24:51Speaker 10: with music. That that Oasis song took me back to
- 24:54Speaker 10: a younger year.
- 24:55Speaker 8: Yeah, morning, So what food?
- 24:58Speaker 6: Yeah, like younger, like scrambling some eggs as a.
- 25:00Speaker 10: Kid or what well, you know, Like it's kind of
- 25:03Speaker 10: reminiscent of the movie Rata tou you right, Like when
- 25:05Speaker 10: you can attach a memory to food, it touches somebody
- 25:08Speaker 10: and then will come back and eat more, right, Like
- 25:10Speaker 10: that's what every chef's objective is.
- 25:14Speaker 8: No, no, no.
- 25:14Speaker 10: When I was saying, you attached a memory to it,
- 25:16Speaker 10: Like listening to Oasis, I had a memory of being
- 25:20Speaker 10: a young man and some some of the wilder things
- 25:22Speaker 10: I used to do.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Listening to that song a different lifetime.
- 25:26Speaker 5: It was yeah, all in good, clean fun.
- 25:30Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 10: I'm just glad we didn't have cell phones and cameras.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Oh, we talked about that yesterday.
- 25:38Speaker 5: Think that Daily Chef yesterday. So we'll move on from
- 25:45Speaker 5: that before we incriminate ourselves.
- 25:47Speaker 10: I'm not telling the story.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Let's go ahead and move on from that hashtag munchies.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I'm cooking chicken fried steaks and mashed potatoes tonight.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Any advice from chef how to amp it up?
- 26:00Speaker 10: Oh man, I don't know, you know, like you said
- 26:03Speaker 10: chicken fried and all I think all I thought about
- 26:05Speaker 10: was Nashville hot, you know, like putting spice in that
- 26:07Speaker 10: chicken fread and chicken fried steak rather, you know, like
- 26:11Speaker 10: I like to cook my chicken fried steak on a
- 26:14Speaker 10: on a flat riddle and lay little butter on it.
- 26:16Speaker 10: Instead of deep frying it and and battering it, I
- 26:20Speaker 10: like to bread it or flour it, you know, and
- 26:23Speaker 10: do it like in a skillet and and flip it
- 26:25Speaker 10: halfway through. And here's something I have this. I have
- 26:31Speaker 10: this thing about mashed potatoes right Like I'm a I'm
- 26:33Speaker 10: a potato eater. I have rice and grit eaters, for sure,
- 26:37Speaker 10: I'm raising two of them.
- 26:38Speaker 8: But I love mashed potatoes.
- 26:40Speaker 10: And I'm real particular about how I build my mashed potatoes.
- 26:43Speaker 8: So a lot of.
- 26:43Speaker 10: Folks put their butter and cream or butter and milk
- 26:46Speaker 10: in together in the pot and it's it's an error.
- 26:50Speaker 10: And I know that I just stepped on every grandmother's
- 26:52Speaker 10: toes by saying that. But realistically, when you make mashed potatoes,
- 26:56Speaker 10: you want to melt your butter separately and bring your
- 26:58Speaker 10: milk or cream up to a separately. And when you're
- 27:02Speaker 10: you need to beat your mashed potatoes first with the
- 27:04Speaker 10: beata attachment so that it breaks down all the starch
- 27:07Speaker 10: and makes it so that you can put the whip
- 27:09Speaker 10: in because the whiff will tear up in those big
- 27:12Speaker 10: chunks of potatoes. And once you beat those chunks down
- 27:15Speaker 10: to size, you put the whip in and put your
- 27:18Speaker 10: butter in with the whip and you whip the butter
- 27:21Speaker 10: in and that that that fat, it lubricates all the
- 27:25Speaker 10: starch molecules or grains right so that they're moving around
- 27:29Speaker 10: nice and smoothly. And then you add your cream or
- 27:31Speaker 10: milk in after you've done that, and that liaison helps
- 27:34Speaker 10: bond it together and it makes it makes the supreme,
- 27:38Speaker 10: you know, mashed potato. That's that's how mashed potatoes need
- 27:41Speaker 10: to be made.
- 27:41Speaker 8: So for for.
- 27:43Speaker 10: All the grandmos out there, that are upset with me
- 27:45Speaker 10: right now. I apologize. But that's that's how you make
- 27:47Speaker 10: mashed potatoes, all right.
- 27:48Speaker 6: So to recap that, you mash the potato first, yep.
- 27:53Speaker 8: Then steamon or boil it or whatever.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Yeah, okay.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Then yeah, you mash it and then you mix it
- 27:58Speaker 6: and blend it all, break it down into what it
- 28:00Speaker 6: looks like. Yeah, you beat it and then you add
- 28:02Speaker 6: the butter.
- 28:03Speaker 8: Then you had add the butter. That's right.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Ye.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Can you make somes potatoes for me, chef?
- 28:12Speaker 5: That sounds amazing. I'm with you.
- 28:14Speaker 6: I'm like a potato guy.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Some people like, oh they're rice and they do different
- 28:17Speaker 6: thing potatoes anyway, sign me up?
- 28:21Speaker 8: Yeah, me too, brother.
- 28:22Speaker 10: I like all brought and I'm I'm salibating right now.
- 28:25Speaker 8: Thinking about potatoes. I love I brought potatoes.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Oh no doubt, all right. Hashtag bunchie chef. There's a
- 28:30Speaker 6: trend recently going around social media about what's your hear
- 28:33Speaker 6: me out? Person that you're going to talk about what's
- 28:36Speaker 6: your food hear me out?
- 28:39Speaker 8: Oh?
- 28:39Speaker 10: Man, I don't know, it's probably gonna be something weird,
- 28:44Speaker 10: you know, Like I've had pickled pig intestines that I
- 28:47Speaker 10: actually really enjoyed or or a blue egg that it
- 28:51Speaker 10: was was kind of weird, and I enjoyed it. And
- 28:53Speaker 10: so I don't know, I'm I'm I'm a I'm a
- 28:57Speaker 10: weird spooty, you know what I mean, Like I like
- 28:59Speaker 10: trying different stuff, and I've people are gonna raise an
- 29:03Speaker 10: eyebrought this, but I've had shark fin soup before, and people,
- 29:06Speaker 10: you know, like, shouldn't shouldn't eat that.
- 29:09Speaker 8: Uh octopus?
- 29:11Speaker 11: How about that?
- 29:14Speaker 10: Because I love octopus. It's a delicious thing. And I
- 29:17Speaker 10: had this conversation with my fiance the other day because
- 29:19Speaker 10: there have been some chefs that stop eating octopus because
- 29:23Speaker 10: it's a sentient creature and they they have found that,
- 29:27Speaker 10: you know, octop OCTOPI what can recognize a human space
- 29:32Speaker 10: and and will build a relationship around that. And I
- 29:35Speaker 10: was like, well, you know, cows are sentient creatures too,
- 29:38Speaker 10: and and and there are lots of sentient creatures that
- 29:41Speaker 10: we consume. But an octopus doesn't have a real long life,
- 29:46Speaker 10: you know, and so if we're eating them at the
- 29:48Speaker 10: end of their life, we're not really doing it in justice,
- 29:50Speaker 10: you know, Like I would rather I would rather be
- 29:53Speaker 10: eaten by a wild creature than be shot by a crackett,
- 29:55Speaker 10: you know what I mean. So by that philosophy, I
- 29:58Speaker 10: think that you know it's okay to eat octopus print.
- 30:01Speaker 5: The shirt chef. Yeah, I mean come up eating shot
- 30:10Speaker 5: back crack Yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 4: I like this all right. I don't hate that one
- 30:16Speaker 4: with that, but that's somewhere in store it. I really
- 30:20Speaker 4: know that we can ever, we can match that after
- 30:22Speaker 4: we just had cheffy.
- 30:24Speaker 5: Okay, let's well, well we'll try to. Okay.
- 30:27Speaker 6: It is National Burger Day. I don't know if you
- 30:29Speaker 6: knew this, but hashtag monch. He's in honor of National
- 30:31Speaker 6: Burger Day. Build your perfect burger.
- 30:35Speaker 10: Yeah, fun toasted butter. You know it's gotta have butter
- 30:40Speaker 10: on it.
- 30:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 30:42Speaker 10: I like monster cheese, to be honest with you. And
- 30:45Speaker 10: maybe a little smoke gooda mixed in there too, because
- 30:48Speaker 10: the burger it has to be a cheeseburger. It's not
- 30:50Speaker 10: just going to be a burger. I've been on this
- 30:52Speaker 10: bison kick, so you know, I'm probably gonna go with
- 30:55Speaker 10: the bison burger today because I really like the flavor
- 30:58Speaker 10: of bison. I've had some elk recently. Not to not
- 31:01Speaker 10: to diminish the cow by any means. But in the
- 31:06Speaker 10: world of healthy foods, I've really been on a bison kick.
- 31:09Speaker 10: So I'm gonna I'm gonna make it a bison burger today,
- 31:12Speaker 10: and probably like brisket off the bison. You know, there's
- 31:15Speaker 10: a little fattiness there.
- 31:17Speaker 8: I like.
- 31:17Speaker 10: I like the texture of a brisket burger. Maybe a
- 31:20Speaker 10: little sirloin in there to give it a little firmness.
- 31:22Speaker 10: Fresh garden tomatoes, not store bought hard ones that are
- 31:26Speaker 10: feel like.
- 31:26Speaker 8: Rocks, you know.
- 31:27Speaker 10: I want to soft stuffle, soft and supple beef steak, tomato,
- 31:31Speaker 10: maybe even.
- 31:32Speaker 8: A yellow one.
- 31:33Speaker 10: I like sweet onions instead of just red onions. I
- 31:36Speaker 10: like like bidelia onions. I'm salavating.
- 31:41Speaker 6: Did you say did you say moots your cheese and
- 31:44Speaker 6: smoked Gouda?
- 31:45Speaker 10: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, combo, yeah absolutely, Maybe a slice
- 31:50Speaker 10: on the bottom bun and the slice on the top
- 31:52Speaker 10: bun if.
- 31:52Speaker 8: I'm feeling boogy about it, right.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Uh've done a double like different cheeses on a burger.
- 31:58Speaker 10: Oh yeah, Well, and you have to have pick in
- 32:00Speaker 10: there too, right, because there's there's a lot of fattiness
- 32:03Speaker 10: there between the burger and the cheese and the butter.
- 32:06Speaker 10: You gotta have you know, some fresh pickles in there
- 32:08Speaker 10: that that give crunch and offers a little textural difference
- 32:11Speaker 10: and a compliment. But also the acid helps cut through
- 32:16Speaker 10: all that fattiness. Definitely catch up and mustard. If I'm
- 32:21Speaker 10: feeling myself. Sometimes I'll even put some mayonnaise on there,
- 32:24Speaker 10: which is kind of crazy, but a little bib lettuce,
- 32:28Speaker 10: something something with a little bit of crunch, but not
- 32:31Speaker 10: too much. That's gotta pulled up to the sandwich and
- 32:34Speaker 10: not you know, get get doggy with with the heat
- 32:38Speaker 10: of the burger. I don't know what am I missing.
- 32:42Speaker 10: Maybe some sauteed mushrooms on there too. And bacon, so
- 32:45Speaker 10: that's a yeah, nice stick cut bacon like on a
- 32:48Speaker 10: on a like eighteen setting or nineteen or twenty setting
- 32:52Speaker 10: on a slicer. You know, it's it's big enough that
- 32:55Speaker 10: it's almost, you know, too much.
- 32:58Speaker 5: That's a tall boy. It's a tall a tall And.
- 33:01Speaker 10: While we're at probably fry an egg on top and
- 33:03Speaker 10: making a barn, I was.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Hoping, I was hoping you get there.
- 33:06Speaker 8: I'm not gonna lie.
- 33:08Speaker 10: There's something about a soft yolk melting through the burger,
- 33:11Speaker 10: you know. But that's again that's why the pickles are
- 33:13Speaker 10: there too, because the yolk is going to offer fattiness
- 33:15Speaker 10: to it. This is a burger that you had to
- 33:17Speaker 10: kind of bend over and lean over rather than you know,
- 33:21Speaker 10: just letting it drip down your front side.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Again, we're gonna be right next to those mashed potatoes.
- 33:30Speaker 8: We just to get a shirt made up of that one.
- 33:31Speaker 6: Yeah, with my didn't shot by a crackyad shirt on
- 33:34Speaker 6: as well.
- 33:37Speaker 5: No, that's it's not anything like that. That's that's two answers.
- 33:43Speaker 11: They're gonna be very, very tough to uh, you know
- 33:47Speaker 11: what it is, guys, is I watched this special This
- 33:49Speaker 11: guy Timothy Treadway I think was his name, he lived
- 33:51Speaker 11: with uh he lived with grizzly bears in Alaska and
- 33:55Speaker 11: and he ended up dying by his own.
- 33:57Speaker 10: Art, like he was living among them and this this
- 33:59Speaker 10: rope bear killed him and hated him.
- 34:02Speaker 6: The documentary of the Grizzly Man is that yah?
- 34:05Speaker 10: Yeah, And I remember thinking to myself, well, that's a
- 34:09Speaker 10: better way to go than being shot in the city
- 34:11Speaker 10: by cracket you know.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Hey, that's respect to him for sure.
- 34:14Speaker 8: That's where that was born.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Uh, chef, We we had a way a big crawfish
- 34:21Speaker 4: boil and my dad just last weekend and yeah, we
- 34:25Speaker 4: had we had everything in there and it was so good.
- 34:27Speaker 4: I mean we had obviously, you know, the mushrooms, We
- 34:31Speaker 4: had pineapple in there. We had a little bit of everything. Like,
- 34:33Speaker 4: for you, what's one thing that you're going to put
- 34:36Speaker 4: into a crawfish boil that maybe is a little unorthodox
- 34:40Speaker 4: as far as you don't typically see it, but it's
- 34:42Speaker 4: something that almost every time you do it.
- 34:44Speaker 5: You have to add it in.
- 34:46Speaker 10: Yeah, called it's spelled d j o N d j
- 34:51Speaker 10: o N twice called John John and it's a black
- 34:54Speaker 10: mushroom paste and it's it's very ommmy. It just and
- 34:59Speaker 10: your your water goes from orange to brown, so it'll
- 35:02Speaker 10: freak you out a little bit, but that mushroom paste
- 35:06Speaker 10: just adds some depth to the to the boil. And
- 35:09Speaker 10: I also like to put oranges. Now it's not not
- 35:12Speaker 10: every time necessarily, but I do like orange in with
- 35:15Speaker 10: my lemon that that it softens the stitrius up a
- 35:17Speaker 10: little bit and kind of mellows it just to touch,
- 35:20Speaker 10: and I kind of like that sweetness to it. Without
- 35:22Speaker 10: Some people put sugar and honey in their boil, and
- 35:25Speaker 10: I don't absolutely will not. You know, I like I
- 35:28Speaker 10: like this. I like the natural sweetness of pineapple in there,
- 35:30Speaker 10: and the natural sweetness of an orange. But that John
- 35:33Speaker 10: John is umami and if you it's hard to explain.
- 35:37Speaker 10: You know, it's kind of savory, but it's it's just
- 35:39Speaker 10: I don't know. It's they come in these little uh
- 35:43Speaker 10: it looks like butter pat almost, and a little foil
- 35:46Speaker 10: pat that you can put into bases and such and

- 41:21Speaker 3: That's so stupid incident. That might be the dumbest thing
- 41:24Speaker 3: I've ever heard in my entire life. That's not an incident,
- 41:27Speaker 3: like you introduced the president, and honestly, like if you
- 41:30Speaker 3: have an issue with Jackson Dart introducing the president of
- 41:34Speaker 3: the United States of America, like you don't have real
- 41:37Speaker 3: problems in your life, and you should go outside and
- 41:39Speaker 3: touch grass. But scary else that you don't have actual problems. Yeah,
- 41:45Speaker 3: to go touch grass, come back to reality. Not everything's
- 41:50Speaker 3: Twitter discourse.
- 41:54Speaker 6: But what about what he did the good the answer
- 41:57Speaker 6: for it?
- 41:58Speaker 3: Did Abdul Carter answer for his crimes?
- 42:02Speaker 6: No, Abdul didn't do anything, Alandra.
- 42:04Speaker 5: He had a dresses, tea and a teammates.
- 42:07Speaker 3: That's the thing.
- 42:08Speaker 5: Don't worry.
- 42:09Speaker 7: There were about three or four team leaders that helped
- 42:11Speaker 7: him though, Matt, you know, talking to the team.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Other team leaders spoke up as well. Yeah, and they
- 42:20Speaker 5: worked through it. They're moving forward.
- 42:22Speaker 3: I'm happy for them.
- 42:23Speaker 6: No, Yeah, that is that is a real I read earlier.
- 42:26Speaker 3: I was ver.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:28Speaker 6: Giants quarterback Jackson Dart ad dressed teamates in a meeting
- 42:31Speaker 6: yesterday to discuss his introduction of President Trump. Last week's
- 42:34Speaker 6: sources tell me other team leaders spoke up as well,
- 42:37Speaker 6: and darting the players worked through it.
- 42:39Speaker 5: They are moving forward.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure out. Okay, so what are they
- 42:42Speaker 3: working through? Are they working through Jackson Dart doing that,
- 42:46Speaker 3: or are they working through Abdul Carter being a bad
- 42:48Speaker 3: teammate and calling him out on Twitter for it?
- 42:51Speaker 6: Consensitivity?
- 42:52Speaker 5: Yeah? Do you think Jack Jackson was like touch grass
- 42:55Speaker 5: as he should have.
- 42:59Speaker 3: A car? You don't have real problems.
- 43:00Speaker 6: In your life, bro.
- 43:02Speaker 7: He backtracked that over the weekend. He goes, guys, me
- 43:05Speaker 7: and Jack shud are cool. You'll keep y' all some narratives.
- 43:07Speaker 7: I'm like, you started the narrative.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Whatever. It's just it's just funny. I didn't think that
- 43:16Speaker 5: was real. No, that's real.
- 43:18Speaker 6: That's true. That's a real one. And I and look,
- 43:21Speaker 6: I'm I can get fooled real fast on the old
- 43:24Speaker 6: Twitter machine. I'm quick to break some fake news.
- 43:31Speaker 3: You are.
- 43:33Speaker 5: That one's real?
- 43:34Speaker 3: And Drew Brees.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Hashtag asked the bench are you going to see Mandalorian

- 43:43Speaker 6: I'm probably not gonna go see it because I'm watching
- 43:46Speaker 6: it with the kidd as all the Star Wars stuff,
- 43:48Speaker 6: and we haven't got to the Mandalorian yet, so I'm
- 43:51Speaker 6: not gonna just jump ahead and go watch the movie
- 43:54Speaker 6: without the backstory being introduced to them.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Those words mean nothing to me.
- 44:00Speaker 6: And Laurian Grogu you should watch the I'm glad to
- 44:02Speaker 6: do for you, though, you should watch Star Wars.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I've seen Star Wars, I just haven't seen like the
- 44:07Speaker 3: new stuff.
- 44:07Speaker 5: The man Laurien's really good. Yea, the series.
- 44:10Speaker 6: I don't know about the movie, but it's always hard
- 44:12Speaker 6: to go from a series that's like eight episodes and
- 44:16Speaker 6: try to do it in a two hour movie.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Yeah, we had. I'm too far behind with Star Wars.
- 44:25Speaker 5: I appreciate people that like it, but I'm just too
- 44:27Speaker 5: far behind. That's fun. I've seen one.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I watched like the first new one that they
- 44:35Speaker 3: came out with, and I just like, yeah, I got
- 44:37Speaker 3: far behind on them.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Back to the.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Question, though, Brooks and dumb might be like my all

- 44:44Speaker 4: Ronnie Dunn.
