- 0:18Speaker 2: to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Mike and I just putting up pants back on. Since
- 0:23Speaker 3: the postgame shot man.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We were we were all in the New England Patriots
- 0:27Speaker 2: are on the rise.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Because it was on to come. But I didn't think
- 0:31Speaker 4: the schooler one was that egregious.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Oh no, it was.
- 0:34Speaker 4: He was out of bounds.
- 0:35Speaker 5: I know.
- 0:36Speaker 2: It was was like three steps out about. He barely
- 0:39Speaker 2: hit him. Look at it.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Again, he didn't seven times they launched.
- 0:42Speaker 2: He was already.
- 0:43Speaker 4: I don't care that he didn't launch. He hit it
- 0:45Speaker 4: in the head.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Finished, And you're just gonna interrupt say and.
- 0:47Speaker 4: He didn't hit him. That wasn't that egregious.
- 0:48Speaker 2: He's just not gonna let me talk. I'm trying to
- 0:50Speaker 2: explain what I saw, and you won't let me.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Can we just move on?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Won't do that?
- 0:55Speaker 4: All right? How many times are you going to say
- 0:57Speaker 4: he didn't hit him in the head.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'm going to give my opinion on the If you
- 1:00Speaker 2: let me fine, is that okay? If you let me talk,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I can have one That's all I'm saying is can
- 1:06Speaker 2: I just give it seven times?
- 1:08Speaker 3: You didn't think it was a penalty? I mean, I
- 1:09Speaker 3: get it. God Like, can we just say like it
- 1:11Speaker 3: was a great win and just move on? Like, like,
- 1:14Speaker 3: why don't we have to be like, Okay.
- 1:15Speaker 2: We're not going to talk about the game. How's Barth doing?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Is he? Okay?
- 1:19Speaker 6: Like he's doing her soil his pants travel so he's
- 1:22Speaker 6: watching it at home?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Does his mother yell at him to keep it? Alice
- 1:26Speaker 2: made me love.
- 1:27Speaker 4: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:31Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:36Speaker 2: All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here
- 1:40Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium, a rainy day here in Foxborough. We
- 1:43Speaker 2: always need to rain, we do. I don't mind the
- 1:46Speaker 2: rains as long as it's not on the weekend. That's
- 1:48Speaker 2: good with me.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But we're talking about still in the glow of the
- 1:55Speaker 2: wind Sunday night. But we're also turning the page because
- 1:59Speaker 2: it's when and we're looking ahead to the New Orleans Saints,
- 2:03Speaker 2: who I think have been more than competitive that I
- 2:07Speaker 2: thought they would be scrappy. So you better watch out.
- 2:11Speaker 2: You better watch out. If Bill Parcells would say, don't
- 2:15Speaker 2: take the cheese, Yeah, don't take the cheese. This could
- 2:18Speaker 2: be a trap game.
- 2:19Speaker 7: I spent the morning watching a little of them, and
- 2:21Speaker 7: thing that stood out to me is how bad their
- 2:22Speaker 7: special teams are. I mean, they had like the first
- 2:25Speaker 7: half against Seattle, it was like a punt return touchdown,
- 2:28Speaker 7: a blocked punt, a kickoff return to like their own forty,
- 2:32Speaker 7: so you know, and then they were in like a
- 2:33Speaker 7: twenty eight three hole or whatever it was. So that
- 2:36Speaker 7: might be an area the Patriots could look to pick
- 2:38Speaker 7: up some field positions, some yardage. Marcus Jones. Of course
- 2:42Speaker 7: we talked about the kickoff return, figuring out how they're.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Gonna get that out with Gibbee out.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So it's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's
- 2:48Speaker 2: Alex and the booth and we'll be talking Patriots for
- 2:51Speaker 2: the next couple hours. Mike Vrabel at twelve fifty five,
- 2:56Speaker 2: wyll be coming on. Has that's become our Wednesday tradition.
- 3:00Speaker 2: See what the coach has to say, See how he's
- 3:03Speaker 2: turning the page. So any anything that's the key to.
- 3:06Speaker 3: The week, right, Yeah, you got to turn the page.
- 3:09Speaker 3: You got to get ready for a team that you
- 3:10Speaker 3: should beat on the road. Fred's right, they've had a
- 3:13Speaker 3: couple of competitive games, so if you don't show up
- 3:17Speaker 3: to play, you can lose in that league. I mean,
- 3:19Speaker 3: these teams are not that far apart. You know, the
- 3:22Speaker 3: worst teams and the best teams are not like It's
- 3:25Speaker 3: not like college where you can bring your your B
- 3:28Speaker 3: or C game and get by because your talent is
- 3:30Speaker 3: just that much better.
- 3:32Speaker 4: That's the key to the week. Both mayking sure you're
- 3:34Speaker 4: ready to play.
- 3:34Speaker 7: I mean both of the first two games at home
- 3:36Speaker 7: where you know they're going to the end zone and
- 3:38Speaker 7: the first one and the second one they got stop
- 3:39Speaker 7: kind of midfield on the last drive. You know, even
- 3:42Speaker 7: the Bills, it's a it's a two point game in
- 3:44Speaker 7: the fourth quarter. So I think there's plenty of little
- 3:47Speaker 7: stats and numbers for able to put up there and
- 3:49Speaker 7: be like, you know, these guys, these guys are are scrappy.
- 3:52Speaker 7: I don't think that you know, Spencer Rattlers is anything special,
- 3:56Speaker 7: but they have some speed with the receivers that they have,
- 3:59Speaker 7: and you know those old veterans that are just the
- 4:01Speaker 7: holdovers from the old Saint days.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Somehow it's there.
- 4:03Speaker 7: They're still there, you know, on both sides of the ball,
- 4:06Speaker 7: with Davis and Cam Jordan and you know, of course
- 4:10Speaker 7: the running back Cama Camara.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, they have like sneaky good skill talent. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 6: I don't think they have the quarterback and I don't
- 4:17Speaker 6: their offensive line is kind of in shambles right now,
- 4:21Speaker 6: which if you want to project the Patriots blowout, Patriots
- 4:24Speaker 6: defensive line taking over this game against the Saints offensive
- 4:27Speaker 6: line is like how we get to that point? But
- 4:31Speaker 6: Camara's still got it, Like, you know, he's not necessarily
- 4:34Speaker 6: as explosive as he was earlier on in his career,
- 4:37Speaker 6: but he can still run the ball, still breaks tackles
- 4:40Speaker 6: at an insane rate. Rashid Shaheed's like one of the
- 4:42Speaker 6: most underrated receivers in football, had a breakout game last week.
- 4:46Speaker 8: Agent next year, I saw you highlight that little speed.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Chris Olave, solid player, solid receiver. Cooks is still you
- 4:54Speaker 6: know back now with New Orleans. So it's not a
- 4:58Speaker 6: team that doesn't have some name brand and talent. You know,
- 5:01Speaker 6: DU's mentioned the guys on defense with you know, Cam Jordan, Demartin,
- 5:04Speaker 6: Jovis it's not.
- 5:05Speaker 4: A bad tight end.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah, tight end tight ends have given the Patriots some trouble.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a first time head coach, it's a quarterback
- 5:13Speaker 6: that's probably not their future.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Uh.
- 5:16Speaker 6: And that's you know, advantage Patriots big time in those categories.
- 5:19Speaker 6: But it's not a team that's you know, deprived of talent,
- 5:23Speaker 6: like they do have some players on this roster.
- 5:25Speaker 7: You know, we kind of like to stay out to
- 5:27Speaker 7: me a couple of times. Is kool Aid ch Industry
- 5:29Speaker 7: the rookie cornerback, kind of big physical guy. He's been
- 5:32Speaker 7: making some plays.
- 5:34Speaker 5: You know.
- 5:34Speaker 7: Another interesting thing is that Brandon Staley is the defensive coordinators.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's a fangio guy. I'm not sure he has the
- 5:40Speaker 1: exact horses.
- 5:42Speaker 7: Right now for that scheme that he's well known for,
- 5:45Speaker 7: but a lot of his own coverage and you know,
- 5:47Speaker 7: I think what I'd like to see is just what's
- 5:50Speaker 7: the counter punches. There's two areas. It's in the receiving game.
- 5:53Speaker 7: You know, I think teams are going to continue to
- 5:54Speaker 7: focus on Hunter and Henry and Diggs. You know, can
- 5:57Speaker 7: another guy kind of step up and make up for
- 6:00Speaker 7: that loss? If the team says, you know, we're just
- 6:02Speaker 7: going to take digs away. You beat us with Demario Douglas,
- 6:04Speaker 7: beat us with you.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Know, Matt Collins or Kyle Williams or you know any
- 6:07Speaker 1: of those guys.
- 6:09Speaker 7: And then I think the biggest question and the hardest
- 6:11Speaker 7: one to answer, is the running game, like how do.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You what do you do?
- 6:13Speaker 7: Are you ready to give a bunch of volume carries
- 6:16Speaker 7: back to Remandra and let him be the guy like
- 6:19Speaker 7: he's been, you know, over the last I think the
- 6:20Speaker 7: last couple of years when they had injuries there, Remember
- 6:23Speaker 7: Ezekiel Elliott I think was the last man standing when
- 6:25Speaker 7: it was just all him. Is Travon Henderson ready to
- 6:28Speaker 7: step up? And and you know, so I don't know
- 6:30Speaker 7: if you can get by with just those two guys.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Bring up Jennings, they activate him.
- 6:35Speaker 7: So they signed a practice squad guy yesterday, which I
- 6:38Speaker 7: thought was interesting because maybe it does point to I
- 6:41Speaker 7: wonder if Rabel's system is one that if you're on
- 6:43Speaker 7: a practice squad and we've had you since training camp
- 6:45Speaker 7: and an injury happens, we want to bring you up.
- 6:48Speaker 7: We want to stay in house. We don't want to
- 6:50Speaker 7: immediately go outside. Now, maybe they're trying to cook something
- 6:54Speaker 7: up sign somebody, trade for somebody, something like that.
- 6:56Speaker 2: But you jumped over to the Patriots, But I want
- 6:58Speaker 2: to go back to the Saints for said, because they
- 7:00Speaker 2: have a young head coach. Yeah, Kellen Moore. What do
- 7:04Speaker 2: we think of him in terms of, you know, being
- 7:07Speaker 2: that game strategist in you know, cooking up schemes.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I just look at it as rattler.
- 7:13Speaker 7: I mean, I see, you can talk all about schemes,
- 7:15Speaker 7: but if you don't have a quarterback who can really
- 7:17Speaker 7: execute at a high level and push the ball down
- 7:19Speaker 7: the field, I mean, he's I think Paul said initially,
- 7:22Speaker 7: it's it's a lot of underneath stuff. I think Olave
- 7:24Speaker 7: is the only one, or sorry, it's rich Shaheed is
- 7:27Speaker 7: the only one avering more than ten yards of you know, a.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Catch, and that's only because of his bond that he
- 7:31Speaker 3: caught last week. I mean, I mean a lot of
- 7:33Speaker 3: a seven point four yards to catch. Now, like tackle,
- 7:38Speaker 3: that's a good day for a running back.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, come up and tackle.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 6: I think that you know what they're they're set up
- 7:44Speaker 6: is really that Kellen Moore is running the offense and
- 7:47Speaker 6: Brandon Staley is running the defense. So he hired a
- 7:50Speaker 6: guy in Stale who as head coaching experience and has
- 7:53Speaker 6: defensive coordinator experience so that he can you know, be
- 7:56Speaker 6: in the lab and call the plays. So Kellen Moore
- 7:58Speaker 6: is calling the offense himself, and so he's really that's
- 8:01Speaker 6: like kind of how they divvied this up. Staley. I
- 8:04Speaker 6: know that he had caught a lot of heat as
- 8:06Speaker 6: a head coach and ended up, you know, getting fired
- 8:08Speaker 6: by the Chargers. But he has a really sophisticated defensive scheme.
- 8:12Speaker 6: They play a lot of match coverage, a zone match,
- 8:15Speaker 6: so it's it's sophisticated, it's complex. You know, Duce mentioned Fangio.
- 8:19Speaker 6: It is from that tree. So they're playing a lot
- 8:22Speaker 6: of quarters match quarters this year, and so they they're
- 8:26Speaker 6: gonna kind of spin the dial on you a little
- 8:29Speaker 6: bit on the defensive side of the ball. It's a
- 8:31Speaker 6: good scheme.
- 8:31Speaker 2: It's interesting because you say it's a sophisticated defense. But
- 8:35Speaker 2: when Staley was with the Charges, wasn't he a kind
- 8:37Speaker 2: of a conservative head coach?
- 8:39Speaker 6: No, total opposite, right.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Maybe I got him mixed up with somebody else.
- 8:43Speaker 6: He was driven by the nerds.
- 8:44Speaker 4: He put the fourth down on the map.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He was really one of those guys.
- 8:48Speaker 6: Yeah, and that's what ended up being his demise. But defensively,
- 8:52Speaker 6: you know, they play a lot of two high safeties,
- 8:54Speaker 6: and they really play a lot of zone, but it's
- 8:57Speaker 6: match zone where if you run a vertical route then
- 9:00Speaker 6: it gets covered like it's man to man, but if
- 9:02Speaker 6: you run underneath the defense, it gets covered like a zone.
- 9:05Speaker 6: So it's a it's a sophisticated, kind of complex defensive
- 9:09Speaker 6: system that they run, which you know obviously is stressful
- 9:12Speaker 6: on their players and they have to learn it and
- 9:14Speaker 6: all that kind of stuff. But at the same time,
- 9:16Speaker 6: it's it's the hit scheme, you know. Defensively, you know,
- 9:19Speaker 6: it's Fangio's tree and and they're doing a lot of
- 9:22Speaker 6: those different things. So it's it's fun to watch their
- 9:25Speaker 6: defense on film because of that. They run a lot
- 9:27Speaker 6: of different scheme and exotic things, especially third downs that
- 9:32Speaker 6: even gave Josh Allen some problems a couple of weeks ago.
- 9:34Speaker 6: You know, just nobody open like taking sacks because they're
- 9:37Speaker 6: they're not getting receivers open against the defense, So it's
- 9:41Speaker 6: a it's sneaky. It's again, I'm not like trying to
- 9:44Speaker 6: pipe them up like they're this.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I've already taught myself and to be nervous about this game.
- 9:47Speaker 4: So I three of you are getting me nervous. I'm
- 9:52Speaker 4: not nervous.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I really think it's in the NFL, it's hard to
- 9:55Speaker 2: be a team that can't do anything right. Yeah, like
- 9:57Speaker 2: even the bad teams can do something right. They're bad
- 10:00Speaker 2: because they don't do enough right, but there's always something
- 10:03Speaker 2: that they can do pretty well.
- 10:05Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, and let's talking about it.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I said the thing about it's not
- 10:08Speaker 3: college where just the gulf is enormous between the haves
- 10:14Speaker 3: and the have nots. This might be one of the
- 10:15Speaker 3: lower echelon teams, but they still have players. I just
- 10:19Speaker 3: don't believe in Spencer Rattler, you know, which is why
- 10:22Speaker 3: I don't think that they have much of a shot.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But you know, the more you guys are talking, and
- 10:26Speaker 3: I'm just like kind of like filling in the gaps.
- 10:28Speaker 3: You know, Chase Young at one time was considered one
- 10:31Speaker 3: of the mere young edge guys. You know, he's been
- 10:34Speaker 3: a disappointment, you know, for sure, but there is some
- 10:37Speaker 3: individual talent on the defense that Evan talked about. I'm
- 10:41Speaker 3: curious your thoughts on Kellen Moore. I've always kind of
- 10:44Speaker 3: thought of. I think he has a reputation of being
- 10:47Speaker 3: a really good offensive coordinator and kind of an innovative guy.
- 10:51Speaker 3: I kind of think his offenses have been disappointing. You know,
- 10:54Speaker 3: when he was with the Chargers. You know, he's supposed
- 10:56Speaker 3: to have fixed Herbert. I don't really think he did.
- 10:59Speaker 3: He was a dow was for a while. I don't
- 11:01Speaker 3: know is he that good.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I mean, from a.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Skinatics that point's certainly out of it.
- 11:05Speaker 6: So he's bunded his scheme now with what Jason Garrett
- 11:09Speaker 6: was running with the Cowboys, and now he's running what
- 11:11Speaker 6: Philly ran last year and some West Coast principles and
- 11:15Speaker 6: some of their offense you know from the gun too,
- 11:17Speaker 6: like Rattlers run the ball by design quite a bit.
- 11:21Speaker 6: And so I don't think that it's like I wasn't
- 11:24Speaker 6: like blown away by watching their scheme, but their offensive
- 11:27Speaker 6: line is so bad that I just like, when it
- 11:29Speaker 6: comes to scheme, if you can't block, it's hard to
- 11:32Speaker 6: start like dressing things up and get guys open with
- 11:35Speaker 6: scheme and all that kind of stuff, because you just
- 11:37Speaker 6: don't have the time back there to let it plays develop.
- 11:40Speaker 6: But I wouldn't say he's like, you know, elite or
- 11:44Speaker 6: anything like that as a play caller or you know,
- 11:46Speaker 6: an offensive architect. But every once in a while, there
- 11:50Speaker 6: was some things that they ran that I was like, oh, okay,
- 11:52Speaker 6: you know, I see what you're doing. Like they especially
- 11:54Speaker 6: the quarterback design runs and the RPOs and that kind
- 11:57Speaker 6: of stuff.
- 11:58Speaker 2: We'll get right into the emails because you know, we've
- 12:01Speaker 2: got vrabel coming up, and so we want to make
- 12:04Speaker 2: sure we get people in here and about the game.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Matt and Wichita. He says, I'll start by saying, this
- 12:09Speaker 2: is a team that Patriot should absolutely be able to
- 12:11Speaker 2: handle with that set. I'm a bit concerned with how
- 12:13Speaker 2: the Saints run their offense. They funnel a lot of
- 12:16Speaker 2: the passing offense through Kamara at running back and Johnson
- 12:19Speaker 2: at tight end. If there's a clear area that the
- 12:22Speaker 2: Patriots defense has struggle with, it's been linebackers playing in coverage.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The linebackers will likely have to step up this week
- 12:29Speaker 2: versus a team that likes to throw to the tight
- 12:31Speaker 2: ends and running backs a whole bunch.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 7: I mean I throw the safeties in that group too.
- 12:35Speaker 7: I think the safeties really on the tight ends has
- 12:37Speaker 7: been a matchup that teams have taken advantage of.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Going back to last week too with Kincaid.
- 12:41Speaker 7: But yeah, the tight ends have been an issue since
- 12:43Speaker 7: training camp, joint practices. Every game probably highlights, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 7: where they're going to have to get better when they
- 12:49Speaker 7: have a chance in the offseason to improve a little bit.
- 12:51Speaker 7: But I don't know, Kamara, he still looks the part
- 12:54Speaker 7: like if you just look at him not moving, I'm like,
- 12:56Speaker 7: he still looks like an elite, you know, but he
- 12:59Speaker 7: doesn't quite move the same way he once did.
- 13:02Speaker 1: He doesn't scare me a lot. It's just it's really.
- 13:05Speaker 7: I think the like I said at the beginning, I
- 13:07Speaker 7: think you win this game in the margins. You dominate
- 13:09Speaker 7: on special teams, you tackle well, you know, you make
- 13:11Speaker 7: everything hard for them. I think over the last couple
- 13:14Speaker 7: of years we've gotten a crash course in what it's
- 13:16Speaker 7: like to be a bad football team and what needs
- 13:18Speaker 7: to happen for a football team bad football team to win.
- 13:22Speaker 7: And the Patriots have to avoid doing those things that
- 13:24Speaker 7: over the last couple of years gave the Patriots opportunities
- 13:27Speaker 7: to win with stupid turnovers, you know, a couple of
- 13:29Speaker 7: broken tackles, a big play to Shahed.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You know, Seattle just that's how Seattle did it.
- 13:34Speaker 7: They just raced out big plays on special teams, finished
- 13:37Speaker 7: with touchdowns and you know they never look back. But
- 13:39Speaker 7: otherwise all these games have been fairly close, and they
- 13:42Speaker 7: won last week.
- 13:42Speaker 2: BB and NH says, wondering how you think Kamara will
- 13:45Speaker 2: fare against our run defense. We're the only team in
- 13:47Speaker 2: the league to have not allowed a fifty yard rushing
- 13:50Speaker 2: game from a running back through the first five. Does
- 13:52Speaker 2: that say more about our talent or the lack thereof
- 13:55Speaker 2: of our prior opponents?
- 13:56Speaker 6: I mean, Buffalo, the best run offense in the league
- 13:59Speaker 6: coming into the.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Defense has been good.
- 14:00Speaker 7: I'm starting to believe. I'm starting to believe. I mean
- 14:02Speaker 7: I was skeptical early on. I think early you know,
- 14:04Speaker 7: like I said, stats sometimes can be deceiving, matchups can
- 14:07Speaker 7: be deceiving, you know, even like Ashtrion Genty looks a
- 14:10Speaker 7: lot better now than he did in Week one. But
- 14:12Speaker 7: I'm starting to believe in those guys, and you know,
- 14:15Speaker 7: there are there are going to be some plays.
- 14:17Speaker 1: To be made.
- 14:17Speaker 2: How does Tavia help versatility?
- 14:20Speaker 6: I think I thought he helped a little bit last
- 14:22Speaker 6: week too. I thought, you know, early downs, and not
- 14:24Speaker 6: to pick on Christian Ellis, but I think he's just
- 14:26Speaker 6: sturdier and just a better run defender than Christian Ellis.
- 14:29Speaker 6: And even if it's just like a first and second
- 14:31Speaker 6: down roll, or you know, if they go into big
- 14:35Speaker 6: personnel you know, twelve, you know, twenty one, like those
- 14:37Speaker 6: types of sets where they have multiple tight ends on
- 14:40Speaker 6: the field, I think Tavia is just better i'd stopping
- 14:44Speaker 6: the run than a guy like Kristianellis. I love how
- 14:47Speaker 6: Jack Gibbons plays. He plays with his hair on fire,
- 14:49Speaker 6: but he can play a little bit too much recklessly
- 14:52Speaker 6: and so like DIVI, just being kind of like a
- 14:54Speaker 6: steady gap plugging linebacker I think could be helpful.
- 14:58Speaker 7: My bigger question is just to he gonna be on
- 15:01Speaker 7: the field and Nickel with Spallane as the two off
- 15:04Speaker 7: the ball guys. Yeah, I think we saw more of
- 15:05Speaker 7: them last week when they would go into base and
- 15:07Speaker 7: they would put him on the edge, and I thought
- 15:09Speaker 7: he was pretty good there. He lost it once but
- 15:11Speaker 7: it wasn't a huge gain.
- 15:12Speaker 1: But he's a physical guy.
- 15:13Speaker 7: It's just they don't have a lot of depth on
- 15:14Speaker 7: the edge, and especially with Chase on out and now
- 15:16Speaker 7: we don't know what's going on with Keyon White.
- 15:18Speaker 1: You know, he had an elbow injury in the game.
- 15:20Speaker 7: So I think he really just helps pad some of
- 15:22Speaker 7: that uncertainty on the edge.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Give you some options, okay, blue Kwala, David writes in
- 15:28Speaker 2: if the Patriots go down to the Saints and play
- 15:29Speaker 2: an okay game and end up losing, would that be
- 15:32Speaker 2: the defining moment to what this team and overall season
- 15:35Speaker 2: will be. We get hot then cold, up then down.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Sorry if you all have disgusted, I never get to
- 15:40Speaker 2: listen to Live, so I have to wait till it's
- 15:42Speaker 2: on Spotify.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I hope not. I hope not.
- 15:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I you know, I don't really feel
- 15:46Speaker 7: like it's been like that. I mean the last couple
- 15:47Speaker 7: of weeks. It feels like it's kind of been kind.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Of building a little bit of building.
- 15:51Speaker 8: Yeah, so we'll see.
- 15:52Speaker 1: But this is a great I mean, I love to hear.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I'd love to hear what the stat is, Paul.
- 15:55Speaker 7: You had a great stat last week, I think from
- 15:57Speaker 7: Felgi about Rabel's record as the big time favorite. What's
- 16:00Speaker 7: this record as a big time underdog to those games?
- 16:02Speaker 7: You know, just a little bit of a little bit
- 16:04Speaker 7: of a stat too.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I don't know what the numbers are as a favorite,
- 16:09Speaker 3: but yeah, I mean that it played out. You know,
- 16:12Speaker 3: he was four and four as a touchdown plus underdog
- 16:15Speaker 3: and now he's five and four. Yeah, in that scenario,
- 16:18Speaker 3: while the rest of the league has a winning percentage
- 16:20Speaker 3: of seventeen percent during that time.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Well, Paul, we were talking before the show.
- 16:24Speaker 2: One of your guys on the radio, Joe Murray, pointed
- 16:28Speaker 2: out last night that in the history of the Patriots
- 16:32Speaker 2: regular season, they have never won three road games in
- 16:36Speaker 2: a row, you know, stretch of you know, three in
- 16:39Speaker 2: a row. So I thought that was interesting. It's I
- 16:43Speaker 2: can understand that's pretty hard. It's hard to do in
- 16:45Speaker 2: the NFL to go on the road and win three
- 16:48Speaker 2: straight road games.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Regular season, and you're talking about three and three straight weeks,
- 16:52Speaker 3: three straight weeks. I know that you knew that, but
- 16:55Speaker 3: I would just want to make sure that fans, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 3: they went undefeated in O seven, I think they won
- 16:59Speaker 3: three r They didn't have.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Three in a row during that season. So did we
- 17:04Speaker 2: fight out how many times they've had the opportunity.
- 17:06Speaker 4: No.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I did quick AI search and it said that that
- 17:10Speaker 3: is completely able to quantify that, but it has happened,
- 17:15Speaker 3: so I'm sure that I'm not doing it right.
- 17:17Speaker 4: It's user error.
- 17:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a it's a good point. I mean, we
- 17:22Speaker 6: don't play in the games, and we feel these some
- 17:25Speaker 6: of these road trips and like it's also New Orleans
- 17:28Speaker 6: and then it's Nashville. So it's like you got to
- 17:31Speaker 6: be disciplined, like you got to be like ready, and
- 17:34Speaker 6: you got to be locked in, you know, in these situations.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Like I mean, it's more likely that in this three
- 17:40Speaker 2: road game stretch they'll lose one then win all three,
- 17:44Speaker 2: right probably statistically.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I mean, I just feel like I'm like Bizarro Paul,
- 17:50Speaker 3: Like I can't see them losing one of these two games,
- 17:53Speaker 3: the Cleveland game, even though it's at home. I can
- 17:55Speaker 3: see a scenario where that game could be trouble because
- 17:58Speaker 3: I think that they could muck you down into low
- 18:00Speaker 3: scoring game because they play good defense. I just don't
- 18:03Speaker 3: see either one of these two teams having what it
- 18:06Speaker 3: takes to beat them. But you guys have done a
- 18:08Speaker 3: good job in the first eighteen minutes of the show
- 18:10Speaker 3: convincing me that it can happen.
- 18:12Speaker 4: No, because they shouldn't.
- 18:13Speaker 6: They shouldn't lose the game, Like we're all in agreement
- 18:15Speaker 6: with that.
- 18:16Speaker 2: But you know skill line early line three and a
- 18:19Speaker 2: half Patriots, Yeah, six and a half.
- 18:22Speaker 6: I'll just give like a quick like non Patriots example
- 18:27Speaker 6: in London last weekend, apparently Jordan Addison like skipped a
- 18:30Speaker 6: team walkthrough to go like sight seeing in London and
- 18:34Speaker 6: they suspended him for like the first half of the
- 18:36Speaker 6: game or something like that.
- 18:38Speaker 4: It's like Coleman got suspended from showing up.
- 18:41Speaker 6: And I'm not saying like I'm using a different team
- 18:43Speaker 6: on purpose, because I'm not saying any of our guys
- 18:45Speaker 6: would do that, But when you go to happens, Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 6: these cities that are fun to be in, Like that's
- 18:51Speaker 6: a discipline thing, like you have to is the everybody
- 18:55Speaker 6: locked in as everyone ready to play, Like I don't
- 18:58Speaker 6: think it's because the Saints are good enough to beat
- 19:00Speaker 6: the Patriots straight up. But if it's a second straight
- 19:03Speaker 6: road trip and you got home late on Monday morning and.
- 19:06Speaker 1: It's just, yeah, it started sloppy.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I just look at the you know the cliche like
- 19:11Speaker 3: if they if you want to be sloppy and you
- 19:13Speaker 3: want to turn the ball over, you can lose you
- 19:16Speaker 3: can lose to anybody. The Giants are not a great team,
- 19:19Speaker 3: and they were dominating the Saints last week until they
- 19:21Speaker 3: decided to turn the ball over on five consecutive possessions
- 19:24Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, they're down two scores and
- 19:26Speaker 3: they lose.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Yeah, like it can happen.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Jules from upstairs chimes in, again, this is from AI,
- 19:32Speaker 7: so it could be wrong. But twenty seventeen, three consecutive
- 19:35Speaker 7: road games in December, Bills, Dolphins, Steelers, So that sound
- 19:38Speaker 7: right to you, guys. In twenty twenty Chargers Rams Dolphins.
- 19:42Speaker 2: They didn't win them, Yeah, but they had three games
- 19:45Speaker 2: they had they had an opportunity to win three.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 4: That's also yeah, it says it's happened several times now.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Yeah, they're right right about twenty seventeen Bill's Dolphins, Steelers.
- 19:54Speaker 6: They lost that they lost to Miami. Twenty seven twenty,
- 19:59Speaker 6: they be Pittsburgh and they beat Buffalo. Was that the
- 20:04Speaker 6: I remember the twenty seven twenty game against Miami because
- 20:07Speaker 6: it was on my birthday and I had like the
- 20:09Speaker 6: whole night plan because the Patriots are playing on Monday
- 20:11Speaker 6: night football on my birthday. And then they lost the
- 20:13Speaker 6: Dolphins and I yeah, twenty seven twenty.
- 20:17Speaker 4: I lost my fun.
- 20:18Speaker 5: They lost.
- 20:21Speaker 6: Really it was like.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Night.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Yeah, and they did not play well either. It was
- 20:26Speaker 6: they they played, you know, for Brady, they played slot.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, Franklin and Baltimore. I agree, Rattler is not
- 20:34Speaker 2: a quarterback the Patriots should fear, so naturally comes Sunday,
- 20:37Speaker 2: it'll have his best game as a pro and made
- 20:39Speaker 2: to look like the second coming of Breeze. I can't
- 20:41Speaker 2: tell you how many times the Patriots have gone against
- 20:43Speaker 2: a functional starter, only to be shocked that they played
- 20:46Speaker 2: better than we expect. Gino Smith anyone, Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Geno Smith is light years better than this.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yes, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 7: And I would just say I'm in the I'm in
- 20:53Speaker 7: the honeymoon phase right now with this defense of like
- 20:55Speaker 7: being like they're too aggressive to like let anybody sit
- 20:58Speaker 7: back there. And you know, I kind of agree with
- 21:00Speaker 7: the general sentiment when back when, you know, you kind
- 21:02Speaker 7: of sit there and build the wall and have some time.
- 21:04Speaker 7: I mean, I never love that on early downs, and
- 21:06Speaker 7: you know, now it feels like they're coming to get
- 21:08Speaker 7: these guys.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So I just like that. I like that approach for.
- 21:11Speaker 7: A number of reasons, including avoiding a letdown, Like you're
- 21:14Speaker 7: just you're gonna go there and be aggressive, like just
- 21:16Speaker 7: you want to fly around and make mistakes one hundred
- 21:18Speaker 7: miles an hour. And I just I think it's maybe
- 21:20Speaker 7: harder to have a letdown when you that's your playing
- 21:22Speaker 7: style and how you're going to go into an attitude
- 21:24Speaker 7: of aggression him just we're gonna leave it all out there.
- 21:26Speaker 6: And that's why when the email was asking, like I
- 21:28Speaker 6: think Kamara is a potential mismatch against their linebackers, But
- 21:33Speaker 6: are you going to trust Rattler to like sit there
- 21:35Speaker 6: and read it out and get to the matchup and
- 21:38Speaker 6: then like consistently make those decisions over and over again?
- 21:41Speaker 6: And even if he does, Like how many yards are
- 21:44Speaker 6: they really going to generate off of little angle routes
- 21:47Speaker 6: out of the backfield to Alvin Kamara swing pass it?
- 21:50Speaker 6: Like it's one thing you know that in Miami a
- 21:52Speaker 6: Chan broke a tackle and goes thirty yards to a touchdown.
- 21:55Speaker 6: I don't know if that's in Kamara's bag anymore. Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 6: you know, so if it's like eight or not ten
- 22:00Speaker 6: yards at a time, I just I don't know if
- 22:03Speaker 6: you win that.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Way to you a point in Mike's point, he's averaging
- 22:07Speaker 3: four and a half yards pretty catch, yeah on seventeen catches.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Okay, per catch. Yeah, so he's.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Not breaking off a lot of those thirty yard you
- 22:16Speaker 3: know angle routes. One other guy. You know, I'm thinking
- 22:20Speaker 3: back to the last I think it was the last
- 22:22Speaker 3: time they played the Saints here. It was a Mac
- 22:25Speaker 3: Jones game and it was a mess. Right yeah, now
- 22:30Speaker 3: thinking of like Taysom Hill, yep was it was a
- 22:32Speaker 3: factor in that game of fight.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Another one of the guys.
- 22:35Speaker 4: He's back. He came back last week, which.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Is what so strange that he's still on the team.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought you were making fun of me for
- 22:41Speaker 3: like bringing out Taysom Hill. Now they used to, they
- 22:44Speaker 3: used to want they used to last week a little bit. Yeah, sure,
- 22:46Speaker 3: which is he threw pass yeah yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 6: And it's so bizarre to me because I think Spencer
- 22:52Speaker 6: Ratler is a better runner and so like there you go,
- 22:55Speaker 6: and I get it, Taysom Hill.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Is bigger and he's the power guy.
- 22:58Speaker 6: Yeah, but like they go to ta a Mill on
- 23:00Speaker 6: these design quarterback runs and I'm like I was the defense,
- 23:03Speaker 6: I'd be like bring it, like cool.
- 23:05Speaker 3: I used to say that when he did this when
- 23:07Speaker 3: Drew Brees was still there.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I used to say if I was the opponent, I'd
- 23:11Speaker 3: be thrilled every time they do it. Yeah, you're taking
- 23:13Speaker 3: a Hall of Fame quarterback off the field to let
- 23:16Speaker 3: him run.
- 23:17Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, you pequed my interest, Paul, I
- 23:20Speaker 7: get it. I think I blocked that game out like many.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Of Oh, it was a it was a blove.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Well, there were two games that I that I'm thinking of,
- 23:26Speaker 3: and I think that the New Orleans won. I think
- 23:29Speaker 3: they beat him twice.
- 23:31Speaker 6: The Saints. One against Mac Jenns boxbook. He threw picked
- 23:34Speaker 6: six like very early on in.
- 23:35Speaker 4: The the second half.
- 23:36Speaker 7: Yeah, twenty three, twenty twenty three, October thirty four to
- 23:40Speaker 7: thirty four to That.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Was right after I was Dallas and New Orleans back
- 23:44Speaker 6: to back.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Was there another game he lost him in twenty one
- 23:46Speaker 1: as well?
- 23:47Speaker 3: The twenty eight thirteen game was Jameis Winston, I believe,
- 23:50Speaker 3: and Taysom Hill ran like they ran the clock out
- 23:53Speaker 3: of the end.
- 23:54Speaker 4: YEP.
- 23:55Speaker 3: It was twenty one thirteen and they just ran the
- 23:58Speaker 3: ball down the field and Taysom Hill ended that drive
- 24:01Speaker 3: and ended the game with a touchdown. So there was
- 24:04Speaker 3: two different games that I was thinking.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Of, thirty four to nothing. It started off halfway through
- 24:08Speaker 7: the first quarter with a Honey Badger twenty seven yard
- 24:11Speaker 7: picked six.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think they had another one and like
- 24:14Speaker 3: a John hu Smith like served up on a platter
- 24:16Speaker 3: kind of pick.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Foster Moreau, oh fostered.
- 24:20Speaker 4: The island of Foster more.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Dark days.
- 24:23Speaker 3: But when Evan brought up the angle Rau for Camara,
- 24:26Speaker 3: I think that he had one of those. And I
- 24:28Speaker 3: think Jamis Winston may have hit him for one of
- 24:31Speaker 3: those in one of those two games. Like all the
- 24:34Speaker 3: things that you would go in and say, well, you
- 24:35Speaker 3: can't let Kamara do this, man, Let's say let Kamara
- 24:39Speaker 3: do that.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Let's see who's this Robin Coventry. I'm brimming with confidence
- 24:45Speaker 2: after this weekend and hoping for an unbeaten October. However,
- 24:49Speaker 2: if you could guarantee a winning streak of three games
- 24:52Speaker 2: in a row, which would you choose? There's four options, Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons, Bucks, Jets, Bengals, Giants, Bills,
- 25:02Speaker 2: or Ravens, Jets, Dolphins three in a row.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Probably Bengals, Giants, Bills, because that would be you sweep
- 25:10Speaker 3: Buffalo and you you should win the division if you could.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Sweep what about raven Jets Dolphins? So you end the season.
- 25:16Speaker 7: I mean that's appealing to me, but there are also
- 25:18Speaker 7: two crappy teams at the end, and you know, I
- 25:22Speaker 7: win at Ravens is even I don't care when it's
- 25:24Speaker 7: like That's.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Why I always say, and it's hard because you don't
- 25:26Speaker 3: know how it's gonna win full but the whole. And
- 25:29Speaker 3: I know you weren't doing this yesterday. You were just
- 25:31Speaker 3: kind of playing the role, but like the whole. Like
- 25:33Speaker 3: if you told me they were going to be three
- 25:34Speaker 3: and two before well, yeah, if you told me before
- 25:37Speaker 3: the season started they were going to be three and two,
- 25:38Speaker 3: I'd be thrilled. But did you tell me that two
- 25:42Speaker 3: of the wins were going to be at Miami and
- 25:43Speaker 3: at Buffalo, Because then I would say, I don't want
- 25:45Speaker 3: to be three and two.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I want to be better.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I want to be at least four and one, at
- 25:48Speaker 3: least if I if I won the two hardest games
- 25:51Speaker 3: on paper on the schedule. Mm hm, like that's you know,
- 25:55Speaker 3: I lost to Vegas. Like that's not good.
- 25:57Speaker 8: That's not good, Bob.
- 25:58Speaker 6: I just that opener. I am still trying to figure
- 26:02Speaker 6: out like what from the game plan perspective, like what
- 26:08Speaker 6: was what were they doing?
- 26:11Speaker 1: Lets it felt like you woke up and you're like, oh, crap,
- 26:13Speaker 1: the games today.
- 26:13Speaker 4: We got to put a game.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Defensively just like running blitz it after blitz after blitz,
- 26:19Speaker 6: and then offensively it was like it was like line
- 26:22Speaker 6: and they're just training camp offense with no and the
- 26:26Speaker 6: next week it doesn't matter now, like yeah, but like
- 26:30Speaker 6: it right.
- 26:31Speaker 2: It was the first game and maybe you know, yeah, yeah,
- 26:35Speaker 2: but like.
- 26:35Speaker 6: It was so opposite. Like offensively, it was the first
- 26:38Speaker 6: game and they came out like very vanilla, and then
- 26:41Speaker 6: defensively they did the total opposite and they just came
- 26:44Speaker 6: after Guno Smith and we're running all these crazy like
- 26:46Speaker 6: double corner blitzes and like all this stuff. And so
- 26:49Speaker 6: like if you wanted to just go the extension of
- 26:52Speaker 6: the preseason route, wouldn't you think you would do it
- 26:54Speaker 6: on both sides of the ball.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Right, we'll grab jos He says, My wife's pregnant with
- 27:00Speaker 2: our first child, doing January congratulations, and we're searching for
- 27:04Speaker 2: boys names. She's already vetoed Brady and Julian, so any
- 27:07Speaker 2: sneaky suggestions I can put on the table Drake Bronk Kronk,
- 27:16Speaker 2: Like look at your family, and you know, instead of
- 27:19Speaker 2: these wacky names like and whatever, you do, give the
- 27:24Speaker 2: kid a name knowing that someday he's going to be
- 27:26Speaker 2: an adult. You know, no no Scooter or you know,
- 27:31Speaker 2: all these all these little names that it's cute when
- 27:34Speaker 2: you're two years old, but someday you're going to be
- 27:36Speaker 2: thirty and you know, like tell me about it. Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 2: Like some of these parents, they just think their kid's
- 27:42Speaker 2: going to be a kid for the rest of their
- 27:43Speaker 2: life and they give him this name that is not
- 27:47Speaker 2: an adult name. It's not appropriate.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Fred should come back around.
- 27:51Speaker 8: I mean Fred, there's out there.
- 27:53Speaker 9: You know.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Fred's okay, Fred's the guy next door name.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Baby's like a little baby Fred.
- 27:59Speaker 5: I I don't.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Particularly love Fred, That's hilarious. I prefer to go by
- 28:07Speaker 2: Jake Steele.
- 28:08Speaker 7: I think Mike's are MIC's are dying down too, Like
- 28:10Speaker 7: there was Mike's everywhere in my generation. Like I mean,
- 28:13Speaker 7: I were four of us on the hockey team in
- 28:14Speaker 7: my roommate was a Mic for four years.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Mike is ageless, Mike Mike goes like Mike is just cast.
- 28:20Speaker 10: Sometimes I don't know who you can wear many velder
- 28:22Speaker 10: there's Reese, there's Rabel, there.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Are I mean, but I'm like Fred, I kind of
- 28:27Speaker 3: gravitate to the traditional names. I think there's a reason why,
- 28:31Speaker 3: you know, people have been named that for one hundred
- 28:33Speaker 3: two hundred years.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Like if there's like a great grandfather or grandmother
- 28:38Speaker 2: and your family that you want to resurrect, I think
- 28:40Speaker 2: that's cool, like keep the name going, that's your family.
- 28:45Speaker 2: But these you know, oh, we're gonna name our daughter Tuesday, and.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Why because Wednesday?
- 28:54Speaker 2: You know, like I think I think names should have meaning,
- 28:58Speaker 2: meaning and not just oh they sound cool to say.
- 29:01Speaker 6: Yeah it was the celebrity named their kid apple, Yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 6: not the other.
- 29:08Speaker 2: You know, our child special, So we're going to give
- 29:11Speaker 2: them a specially like get over it.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Like we wanted to name our kids something that was
- 29:16Speaker 1: a little bit different, angry about, not too weird.
- 29:18Speaker 7: So my kids are Tyson and Campbell, and you know
- 29:21Speaker 7: they're like kind of common, but that's weird.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I was waiting unique enough that you know what's going on.
- 29:29Speaker 1: And Campbell it's a lot of souper. We love American
- 29:31Speaker 1: food things.
- 29:32Speaker 6: That's what we were watching Monday Night Football the other night,
- 29:35Speaker 6: and Tyson Campbell was playing for the Jaguars, and Jess
- 29:37Speaker 6: was like, oh, Tyson Campbell, and I.
- 29:39Speaker 1: What about the receiver from the.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Family.
- 29:44Speaker 6: No, Jordan Tyson, but it's t y s o N.
- 29:49Speaker 8: That's how I spelled.
- 29:50Speaker 6: That's how your c y s O N.
- 29:52Speaker 8: Yeah, well, how else would you spell Tyson?
- 29:54Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Nowadays get through.
- 30:00Speaker 6: I don't think I ever meant anybody.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So we got a Campbell first, you know, first picked
- 30:04Speaker 1: last year.
- 30:04Speaker 8: We got a Tyson this year. That will work great
- 30:06Speaker 8: for me.
- 30:06Speaker 2: All right? A five five patch five hundred is the
- 30:09Speaker 2: hot line. You can see it on the screen. Uh,
- 30:11Speaker 2: let's go see what people have to say. We'll start
- 30:14Speaker 2: with Anthony and Seattle. What's up Anthony, Hey, hey, hey,
- 30:20Speaker 2: uh I.
- 30:21Speaker 11: Have two quick things that'll get off the line. One thing,
- 30:24Speaker 11: this might be more of a heavy thing. I'm curious
- 30:26Speaker 11: to know. Are you still seeing kind.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Of get open on film?
- 30:31Speaker 11: And it's just it seems like to be this unchanted
- 30:34Speaker 11: thing where him and like the next of the you
- 30:38Speaker 11: know one speaking thing about the May night, it was
- 30:41Speaker 11: I think the first touchdown of the night was about
- 30:44Speaker 11: to happen when they rolled out to the left and
- 30:46Speaker 11: we're gonna get Pop in the hands and the deal
- 30:49Speaker 11: defender just barely deflected. And I'm just curious, like the
- 30:52Speaker 11: just seeing that up to and is that like encouraging
- 30:55Speaker 11: a kind of.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Is popcast? Okay?
- 31:01Speaker 4: Thanks?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Your speaker's phone sucks a little bit.
- 31:03Speaker 6: I thought this was Pop's best game on tape.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I thought he was just in the blocking game too.
- 31:09Speaker 6: Yeah, I thought the best overall game he played this year.
- 31:12Speaker 6: He ran a really good route on one of the
- 31:14Speaker 6: rolling pockets where he like kind of set up the
- 31:17Speaker 6: defender got up, the field broke and kind of you know,
- 31:21Speaker 6: came back to the quarterback along the sideline. He was
- 31:25Speaker 6: wide open on one of the blitzes, might have been
- 31:27Speaker 6: the coffee House deuce, might have been the coffee House
- 31:30Speaker 6: and Drake just you know, left the pocket, but he
- 31:33Speaker 6: was on a slant right behind the blitz and he
- 31:35Speaker 6: was open in the middle of the field. And then
- 31:37Speaker 6: the blocking threw on Stefan Diggs's thirty yard catch was
- 31:40Speaker 6: the same as the one he threw the week before
- 31:42Speaker 6: for Hunter Henry giving effort in the blocking game caught
- 31:46Speaker 6: a screen was opened a couple of times down the field.
- 31:49Speaker 6: I thought this was much much better, Like the route
- 31:52Speaker 6: running like the one the catch he made along the sideline,
- 31:55Speaker 6: like terrific catch. That's a great catch. And I don't
- 31:57Speaker 6: think that's really his game. No, you know, toe tap
- 32:00Speaker 6: and extension and.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Great body can gut it route.
- 32:04Speaker 6: So yeah, I mean, look, I don't know if he's
- 32:07Speaker 6: going to come in and catch ten passes this week.
- 32:09Speaker 6: I'm not saying that, but if you wanted to look
- 32:12Speaker 6: for like what the caller was talking about, just like
- 32:14Speaker 6: little things that he's doing well that might catch Todd
- 32:17Speaker 6: Downing and Josh mcdaniels's eye, I would say that that
- 32:20Speaker 6: happened in the Buffalo game.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Would he be your choice?
- 32:22Speaker 7: If you had to say, who's the next Patriot receiver
- 32:25Speaker 7: other than Dixon Henry to have five or more catches?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Would you say on that?
- 32:30Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe I could. I could see Pop having a
- 32:34Speaker 6: breakout game at some point. I don't know if it
- 32:35Speaker 6: will be consistent, Like breakout might not be the right word,
- 32:39Speaker 6: but like having like one of those like peak Pop
- 32:42Speaker 6: games where he's involved and he's getting the ball.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Do you think teams are going to have to change
- 32:46Speaker 2: how they look at Diggs now?
- 32:47Speaker 3: Like well, that's what I was wanting to as Mike
- 32:50Speaker 3: was asking that question. You know, that's what I was
- 32:53Speaker 3: thinking at some point because Digs is now I mean,
- 32:56Speaker 3: I know the Diggs is, Dix is an elite talent. Like,
- 32:59Speaker 3: so you can say all you want, we're gonna take
- 33:01Speaker 3: Digs out, and he's probably still gonna get his because
- 33:04Speaker 3: he's that good. I mean, that's been his whole career.
- 33:07Speaker 3: He's been a volume catch guy. But at some point
- 33:13Speaker 3: someone's gonna say, well, we're gonna have to make someone
- 33:15Speaker 3: else beat us on the key place. You know, on
- 33:18Speaker 3: those third downs and even fourth downs. We're gonna make
- 33:21Speaker 3: sure that he's not open, so you're gonna have to
- 33:24Speaker 3: throw it to somebody else, is it, Douglas? You know
- 33:27Speaker 3: the way you guys talked about Mac Collins the other day,
- 33:29Speaker 3: like he ran a lot of for the love of
- 33:31Speaker 3: the game, right, you know, like just sort of occupy it,
- 33:34Speaker 3: you know, do you sort of reward him one of
- 33:36Speaker 3: these weeks and say, you know, this might be this
- 33:38Speaker 3: might be a week we can get him four or
- 33:40Speaker 3: five catches, I don't know.
- 33:41Speaker 6: And he's one of those guys too that puts on
- 33:43Speaker 6: the Chris Hogan a visibility cloak every once in a while,
- 33:45Speaker 6: where like he's like the fourth guy in the progression
- 33:48Speaker 6: and they just kind of forget to cover him. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 6: so that could happen with Mac Collins maybe more down
- 33:53Speaker 6: the field, and that.
- 33:54Speaker 7: Got people down the field maybe you know potential. So
- 33:57Speaker 7: maybe at some point, I just don't Yeah, like you said,
- 33:59Speaker 7: I don't see and volume one of Booty? You know,
- 34:01Speaker 7: does Booty have any ability to have a volume game
- 34:05Speaker 7: and really step up?
- 34:06Speaker 4: He did in week one?
- 34:07Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Mike and Long Island? What's up? Mike? Hey?
- 34:17Speaker 12: Hey, uh so I know you got picked tomorrow.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Try to keep it quick.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Please?
- 34:23Speaker 13: Three questions about Marcus Joe When is he eligible for
- 34:29Speaker 13: an extension?
- 34:29Speaker 2: And would you yeah? Right now?
- 34:32Speaker 5: Two?
- 34:33Speaker 1: Nice, he's eligible right now?
- 34:35Speaker 12: Who is the more valuable player Christian Gonzalez the corner
- 34:40Speaker 12: or the versatility of Marcus Jones? And three?
- 34:43Speaker 13: Who is more electric Marcus Jones with the ball in
- 34:46Speaker 13: ten or uh that guy Brian boot ball hit with
- 34:51Speaker 13: his calls. I'll think of one.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Well, Brian, and he's making fun of Brian the caller.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I think Gonzales is more valuable.
- 34:59Speaker 3: As the resident president of the Marcus Jones Fan Club.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Gonzalez is a more valuable player I think.
- 35:06Speaker 7: I think, yeah, Marcus Jones is this is his last
- 35:09Speaker 7: year of his rookie deal, so he'll be a free
- 35:10Speaker 7: agent and he's one of the few current starters that
- 35:14Speaker 7: will be up. I think it's a good question. I
- 35:16Speaker 7: think he played really well last week. So it's hard
- 35:18Speaker 7: to sit here and say, oh, I.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Don't know one of his better games I think in
- 35:21Speaker 4: the secondary.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 35:22Speaker 3: That's exactly because I have been pretty critical of him
- 35:25Speaker 3: at times as a defensive back. I thought he was
- 35:28Speaker 3: really good in that game play down the field. I
- 35:31Speaker 3: know it was Coleman.
- 35:32Speaker 4: I know he's not that good, but that's the that's
- 35:34Speaker 4: still giving up a lot of size. Yeah, you know,
- 35:37Speaker 4: I thought he was really really good in that.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Yes, that's the thing for me.
- 35:40Speaker 7: I just I wonder defensively what their preference is because
- 35:44Speaker 7: he's sticky.
- 35:45Speaker 1: He looked great, but he's.
- 35:46Speaker 7: Always going to be five foot eight and he's always
- 35:48Speaker 7: going to have a target on him When they have
- 35:49Speaker 7: a big receiver. That's always going to be a matchup
- 35:51Speaker 7: that opponents try to take advantage of, and sometimes they
- 35:54Speaker 7: will and sometimes they won't.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Last week, he made some plays.
- 35:57Speaker 7: There have been other examples where he hasn't made those
- 35:59Speaker 7: plays and you just see somebody go up and get it.
- 36:01Speaker 7: So I'm really kind of on the fence. I love
- 36:04Speaker 7: I love the person the leadership vote to captain this year.
- 36:07Speaker 7: He's an elite punt returner. I'd be looking and it
- 36:10Speaker 7: goes a long way, So I think there, I think
- 36:11Speaker 7: there should be a spot. I just I wonder if
- 36:13Speaker 7: maybe they also bring in another guy to kind of
- 36:15Speaker 7: help him with the slot a little bit some of
- 36:17Speaker 7: the matchups. Maybe you can pull back on that and
- 36:19Speaker 7: then maybe put him on kickoff return, you know that
- 36:21Speaker 7: that maybe that's a better way to spread him around
- 36:23Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 36:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I I would be I mean, I'm big Marcus
- 36:26Speaker 6: Jones fan. I think he plays much bigger than his
- 36:29Speaker 6: size and I totally maybe tackles extremely well at his size.
- 36:34Speaker 6: And I think in man coverage he's really been mostly
- 36:36Speaker 6: really good. I mean, when you have to cover Shakir
- 36:39Speaker 6: on a crossing route and there's no help, like I mean,
- 36:41Speaker 6: that's a hot that's one on one, like literally training
- 36:45Speaker 6: camp one on ones, you know like that that's hard
- 36:47Speaker 6: to do. But he's he's a good player. Now ideally,
- 36:51Speaker 6: is he maybe like your third and a half corner,
- 36:55Speaker 6: where like in some matchups he plays a little bit
- 36:57Speaker 6: more in the nickel than other matchups. Like yeah, yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 6: I could hear that, but I think with the value
- 37:02Speaker 6: that he brings as a returner, like, it's more than
- 37:04Speaker 6: valuable enough to give him a second contract between the
- 37:08Speaker 6: two of him playing a role on defense and being
- 37:13Speaker 6: an all pro caliber punt returner. It's yeah, I mean
- 37:17Speaker 6: one of fifty three spots. I think we can give
- 37:18Speaker 6: one to the guy like that.
- 37:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean a couple a little more, if everybody's
- 37:21Speaker 7: okay with a little more, you know, free agent talk
- 37:23Speaker 7: of just you know, Austin Hooper will be up like
- 37:25Speaker 7: you know, do you?
- 37:26Speaker 1: I mean, I like him.
- 37:27Speaker 7: I think he's a good complimentary piece to you. At
- 37:29Speaker 7: some point though, say we got to get younger at
- 37:30Speaker 7: the tight end position. We need to add maybe a
- 37:32Speaker 7: little bit more of a raw, dynamic kind of threat.
- 37:35Speaker 3: I would expect tight end to be near the top
- 37:39Speaker 3: of their draft list next year.
- 37:41Speaker 6: It's not a great class. So they've had some really
- 37:44Speaker 6: good tight end classes the last couple of years, and
- 37:46Speaker 6: this is not shaping up to be one of them,
- 37:48Speaker 6: so that's a factor. But I just wonder with Hooper,
- 37:52Speaker 6: he's such a pro that, like I don't know if
- 37:55Speaker 6: he would necessarily like raise a stink if he's not
- 38:00Speaker 6: playing as much as he's playing now, right, Like if
- 38:02Speaker 6: he comes, if they draft a tight end and let's
- 38:05Speaker 6: say that tight end ends up developing and is better
- 38:08Speaker 6: than Austin Hooper and he really becomes like the third
- 38:10Speaker 6: tight end, but maybe they use him in goal line
- 38:13Speaker 6: and like short yardage blocking and things like that, Like
- 38:15Speaker 6: he's not one of those types of guys that's gonna
- 38:17Speaker 6: be like you know, down in the dumps and like
- 38:21Speaker 6: it's always cancer.
- 38:22Speaker 7: Injury position too, Like it feels like you always are
- 38:24Speaker 7: going to lose one of those guys for some portion
- 38:26Speaker 7: of the season. And of course your guy Tonga too,
- 38:29Speaker 7: and Chase on a couple of you know, just there's
- 38:31Speaker 7: not a lot of free agents next year, which I.
- 38:33Speaker 6: Like, and you just have to pay improves.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Yep.
- 38:35Speaker 2: So we Gino from New Jersey just want to say,
- 38:39Speaker 2: appreciate you guys for all that you do, especially Paul
- 38:41Speaker 2: and Evan. Thanks to Evan and his ball knowledge, I'm
- 38:44Speaker 2: able to properly have conversations with people and break down
- 38:47Speaker 2: the play calling of what the team does. And thanks
- 38:50Speaker 2: to Paul, I'm able to properly be snarky and counter
- 38:53Speaker 2: argue with people if I don't agree with their takes
- 38:55Speaker 2: and tell them how wrong they are. You guys are
- 38:57Speaker 2: amazing at what you do, and keep up the great work.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Something told me that was going to be a backhanded compliment,
- 39:03Speaker 3: but I don't take it.
- 39:04Speaker 2: You don't take it? Yes, uh, Tim our friend from
- 39:09Speaker 2: Duncan great win Sunday night, best winning a long time.
- 39:12Speaker 2: I think we all need to give Paul Parrillo the
- 39:14Speaker 2: props he deserves for calling the outcome of the game
- 39:17Speaker 2: throughout the week, whether it was on Get Filtered or
- 39:20Speaker 2: Patriots All Access. He was confident the Patriots would pull
- 39:23Speaker 2: the upset as most everyone who's picking against them. Just
- 39:26Speaker 2: showed how well he knows the team and how they
- 39:28Speaker 2: are trending. So on All Access, were you the only
- 39:32Speaker 2: one that picked the Patriots?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Well, it's just Mike and I. You know, Steven say
- 39:36Speaker 4: Steve Berry.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Steve doesn't really make a pick, but he gets mad
- 39:40Speaker 3: at Mike and I if we happen to pick against him.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Sim and a dagger to the heart for Reese to.
- 39:43Speaker 3: Get hear you the Patriots. So I believe in the
- 39:47Speaker 3: entire time. And then we've been doing it together probably
- 39:49Speaker 3: for close to ten years now. I don't ever remember
- 39:53Speaker 3: a time, not a single time, that I picked the
- 39:54Speaker 3: Patriots when he didn't. Now, normally it's Patriots all Access.
- 39:58Speaker 3: We normally picked the Patriots. I mean, it is what
- 40:00Speaker 3: it is. But usually when we pick against them, it's
- 40:04Speaker 3: a pretty obvious spot to pick against them, and we
- 40:07Speaker 3: both do.
- 40:09Speaker 4: This one he picked up, he was he was still
- 40:12Speaker 4: score score. My score was thirty four to thirty three,
- 40:15Speaker 4: so not really close.
- 40:16Speaker 8: Mike's was the team.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I think he said they were going to lose twenty
- 40:19Speaker 3: seven to twenty something like that, which I mean he
- 40:22Speaker 3: actually had a closer view with the game, like you
- 40:25Speaker 3: had to drink me I did. I fen't think it
- 40:27Speaker 3: was going to go down to the last drive. Shoot,
- 40:31Speaker 3: there's not a lot of stuff. There's not a lot
- 40:33Speaker 3: of stuff that happened that I kind of. I thought
- 40:36Speaker 3: the Patriots would run the ball, well, I thought I
- 40:39Speaker 3: didn't think they could rely on turnovers like you know,
- 40:42Speaker 3: they ended up getting three of them, three takeaways, So
- 40:46Speaker 3: I mean I got it. I guess I'll take it,
- 40:48Speaker 3: but it wasn't really you know, it wasn't a great prediction.
- 40:51Speaker 7: But it's even more remarkable when you look at how
- 40:53Speaker 7: good Buffalo has been at home, and how long it's
- 40:54Speaker 7: been since they've lost their how clean they played football there.
- 40:58Speaker 7: You know, it's just a really hard place to to win.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Knock them all, but I did.
- 41:02Speaker 3: There was something about the way Miami was, I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 3: the way Buffalo was playing that I said, they don't
- 41:08Speaker 3: look like they're really locked in. Yeah, I felt that
- 41:12Speaker 3: if they weren't locked in against the Patriots.
- 41:14Speaker 7: Do you think that this might be kind of an
- 41:16Speaker 7: epidemic for some of these teams right now?
- 41:18Speaker 1: Because the Chiefs and.
- 41:19Speaker 7: The Raid, it's like they're also good for so long
- 41:21Speaker 7: that maybe I don't know, I'm just spitballing of like
- 41:23Speaker 7: holes are starting to pop, or you're just kind of
- 41:25Speaker 7: getting bored.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I have a different time, and this one might come
- 41:29Speaker 3: back and hot me. I think the Chiefs demise has
- 41:32Speaker 3: been grossly exaggerated. I'm not if I was a Kansas
- 41:35Speaker 3: City fan, I wouldn't be overly worried right now. Then
- 41:37Speaker 3: maybe I'm whistling past the graveyard.
- 41:39Speaker 6: No, I would agree, but.
- 41:40Speaker 3: I think Rice is gonna go I think their offense
- 41:42Speaker 3: has already looked exponentially better with Worthy back.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Yeah, when you.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Get Rice there too, then Kelsey goes back to what
- 41:48Speaker 3: he should be at this stage of his career and
- 41:50Speaker 3: like sort of a spare part that they you know,
- 41:53Speaker 3: I think the offense really look good again.
- 41:57Speaker 4: The other night, it's two games in a row.
- 41:59Speaker 3: They scored twenty eight and they threw a pick six
- 42:01Speaker 3: on the goal line, one hundred yard picked six, so
- 42:04Speaker 3: they probably should have had in the thirties for the
- 42:06Speaker 3: second consecutive game. Mahmes made a mistake and they lost.
- 42:10Speaker 1: For the Patriots seasons like this over the twenty years though,
- 42:12Speaker 1: where they.
- 42:12Speaker 7: Got off to a I'm just like, I mean, I
- 42:15Speaker 7: like a two and three start, and.
- 42:16Speaker 4: They were like one.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I think they were one in two and five fourteen.
- 42:20Speaker 3: You know, at fourteen they were two and two.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Kind of you.
- 42:23Speaker 10: Know, they're not good anymore, but yeah, that's I guess
- 42:26Speaker 10: That's what one of the points I was asking was, like,
- 42:28Speaker 10: is it did they get a little board earlier in
- 42:29Speaker 10: the season, and they're just like, man, we just played
- 42:31Speaker 10: in February, Like we got to be right back out there.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Were who Chiefs are losing?
- 42:36Speaker 6: Like, have they lost to like a bad team?
- 42:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:40Speaker 6: No, No, I mean, I mean whatever you think of Jacksonville.
- 42:44Speaker 4: H I mean the four and one Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they lost to the Chargers, who were playing really
- 42:49Speaker 3: well before they lost their entire offensive line the Eagles,
- 42:52Speaker 3: and they lost to the Eagles when good Kelsey dropped
- 42:55Speaker 3: a touchdown.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Now they got to play Detroit this week. They could
- 42:57Speaker 4: be two and four.
- 42:58Speaker 6: Yeah, but if you look at DVA, they're like one
- 43:01Speaker 6: of the best two and three teams in the history
- 43:03Speaker 6: of the NFL.
- 43:04Speaker 4: So like Jack's Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Like I had a guy email me yesterday, one of
- 43:09Speaker 3: my buddies, and he was like, you know, this kind
- 43:11Speaker 3: of reminds me just one of those Patriots ys where
- 43:13Speaker 3: it ain't happening for them. I was like, yeah, I
- 43:15Speaker 3: wouldn't write them off just yet.
- 43:16Speaker 6: Well, not happening for them is them winning eleven games, right.
- 43:20Speaker 3: But I think they're still gonna win eleven games. They
- 43:22Speaker 3: might not win fifteen. Like, obviously they're not gonna win fifteen.
- 43:25Speaker 3: They've already lost three idiots.
- 43:27Speaker 6: But okay, thought Tyson was spelt different.
- 43:30Speaker 14: T I T A I Dash Scooter Steele in Nantucket,
- 43:36Speaker 14: writing in later that was well done.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Star.
- 43:40Speaker 2: It gets better even Evan in the Bills game. Was
- 43:43Speaker 2: Drake bailing out of the pocket or was it more
- 43:45Speaker 2: of a design rollout? I've been paying close attention to
- 43:48Speaker 2: rollouts and escaping ever since my dad, Jake left from
- 43:51Speaker 2: Milk and never returned.
- 43:54Speaker 6: How do I answer that, j Steele?
- 43:56Speaker 2: I go, I think a lot of them were bailing out, right, Yeah, I.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Think he bailed out. And this is something we talked
- 44:02Speaker 6: a little bit about on Catch twenty two. And uh,
- 44:05Speaker 6: you know, I think it's the quarterbacks nowadays when they
- 44:09Speaker 6: see free runners on blitzers, they're not standing in the pocket.
- 44:12Speaker 6: They're not hanging out. Okay, So like a lot of
- 44:15Speaker 6: people want to see him, you know, beat the blitz
- 44:18Speaker 6: with the pass and stand in the pocket, and he
- 44:20Speaker 6: throws the slant right behind the blitzer, and YadA, YadA, YadA, like,
- 44:24Speaker 6: go watch Alan, go watch Mahomes, go watch Lamar, go
- 44:28Speaker 6: watch Jordan Love. Like these guys don't play like that anymore.
- 44:32Speaker 6: And I'm not saying that that's right or wrong. Like
- 44:34Speaker 6: the old quarterback coaches would say, we have a slant
- 44:40Speaker 6: right behind the blitz, you know, just stand in the pocket,
- 44:42Speaker 6: take the hit and throw the slant. They might be
- 44:45Speaker 6: right that that might be a cleaner way of playing quarterback.
- 44:49Speaker 6: These these guys like Drake that are mobile, that are athletes,
- 44:52Speaker 6: they're not going to play that way. They're just not.
- 44:54Speaker 6: They're gonna get outside the pocket, they're gonna get on
- 44:57Speaker 6: the move, and they're gonna make a play. And that's
- 44:59Speaker 6: just the way it is nowadays. So there was a
- 45:02Speaker 6: handful of times in this game where he either sensed
- 45:05Speaker 6: pressure or there was legitimate pressure and he just bailed.
- 45:09Speaker 6: He got out of dodge, and yeah, he probably missed
- 45:12Speaker 6: some throws you know in structure as a result, but
- 45:17Speaker 6: he also hit a thirty two yard bomb just Stefon
- 45:19Speaker 6: digs off platform.
- 45:20Speaker 7: So it's like, well, that's like, what would you choose
- 45:22Speaker 7: as a defense, like, you know, to give up the
- 45:24Speaker 7: little slant that you know or he extends to play
- 45:27Speaker 7: And now you're looking at some of the plays we
- 45:29Speaker 7: saw me, like, what would you pick?
- 45:30Speaker 4: I'm going to button hook you.
- 45:31Speaker 3: If I were Buffalo, I would take my chances with
- 45:33Speaker 3: exactly the way the game unfolded and said, let's see
- 45:36Speaker 3: you complete those passes.
- 45:38Speaker 4: Again, because I think the first time I think he.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Was exceptional in the second half of that game, and
- 45:42Speaker 3: I think Stefan Diggs was was every bit as exceptional.
- 45:45Speaker 6: That's why I said, like, I'm not this isn't like
- 45:48Speaker 6: you old timers, Like this isn't one of the like
- 45:50Speaker 6: you they that might be the right way to do it, right,
- 45:53Speaker 6: I'm just telling you that like the elite quarterbacks in
- 45:57Speaker 6: the league today, they don't do it like that. Like
- 46:00Speaker 6: they don't They're not brady, They're not standing there staring
- 46:03Speaker 6: down the barrel and they're just going to replace the
- 46:05Speaker 6: blitz with the ball like that's that old adage. They
- 46:08Speaker 6: don't do it like that anymore.
- 46:10Speaker 2: For better or worse, Barton Poland shout out to Andy Borregalis,
- 46:14Speaker 2: the absolute cohonies on that man. I know that fifty
- 46:18Speaker 2: two isn't maybe that impressive in today's NFL, but with
- 46:20Speaker 2: his struggles in the situation of that kick, I don't
- 46:23Speaker 2: think he could have kicked it more perfectly. I'm dead serious.
- 46:26Speaker 2: That kick would have been good from seventy I've never
- 46:29Speaker 2: seen a ball hit the net that high on a
- 46:31Speaker 2: fifty plus yard field goal, and it was perfectly in
- 46:33Speaker 2: the middle. And then he followed it up with an
- 46:35Speaker 2: absolutely perfect kickoff.
- 46:37Speaker 4: They agree about the kickoff.
- 46:39Speaker 3: That was an underrated, like game ender, there's no chance
- 46:43Speaker 3: that they're scoring after that kick.
- 46:45Speaker 4: Yeah, we did a.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Little bit on catch twenty two because Barringer. I can
- 46:48Speaker 6: only imagine had the three had the seventy three yard
- 46:51Speaker 6: punt on Buffalo's final drive that put them on a
- 46:54Speaker 6: long field, which was a huge field position win. And
- 46:58Speaker 6: then Borgales drills the game winner and then has a
- 47:01Speaker 6: really good kickoff on the ensuing kickoff, and then they
- 47:04Speaker 6: actually drew a hold on the kickoff too, so that
- 47:07Speaker 6: drive started at Buffalo's eighteen yard line. They like nowadays,
- 47:12Speaker 6: you return the ball to the thirty five yard line.
- 47:14Speaker 6: They only need a field goal to tie the game.
- 47:16Speaker 6: It's two first downs and you know, a twenty yard
- 47:19Speaker 6: bomb by Allen and they're in field goal.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Range right like he kicked that down to you know,
- 47:22Speaker 3: between the one and the two, if you know, if
- 47:24Speaker 3: he's off a little bit and that goes in the
- 47:26Speaker 3: end zone and they get the they don't have any
- 47:29Speaker 3: time come off the clock and they get the ball
- 47:30Speaker 3: to the thirty five.
- 47:31Speaker 4: He landed it perfectly.
- 47:33Speaker 3: That was a perfect kickoff, and you can trast that
- 47:35Speaker 3: to the Miami one where you know.
- 47:38Speaker 6: You and Barthur Kindred spirits.
- 47:40Speaker 3: But I think that that was an underrated big play
- 47:42Speaker 3: in the game. His kickoff at the end the fifty
- 47:45Speaker 3: two yard are they get made at an astronomical rate
- 47:47Speaker 3: in the league, Like yeah, I mean these guys are
- 47:51Speaker 3: just really good. I say this all the time. I
- 47:53Speaker 3: just need a kicker who makes the kicks when he
- 47:55Speaker 3: needs to make. He missed two extra points. It's not
- 47:57Speaker 3: like he's missed seven field goals. It's not like Chad
- 47:59Speaker 3: right on his rookie year he missed two extra points
- 48:02Speaker 3: one game.
- 48:03Speaker 2: They got it, they kick it.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Be fine. Yeah, I'm not worried about it.
- 48:06Speaker 7: Just highlight to the number of rookies that are playing,
- 48:09Speaker 7: you know, and it's not all like, oh, they're not
- 48:10Speaker 7: all Pro Bowlers right now. But just going from being
- 48:14Speaker 7: such an old team bad drafts, you feel encouraged just
- 48:17Speaker 7: about the youth and especially the experience that the youth
- 48:20Speaker 7: guys got winning up in Buffalo, you know, to check
- 48:23Speaker 7: that off. Frabel said it was something his dad pointed
- 48:25Speaker 7: out to me. Where the left side of your line
- 48:27Speaker 7: is starting, you're got a starting safety who's going to
- 48:30Speaker 7: play every snap, you know. So it's just it's exactly
- 48:33Speaker 7: what this team needed. Hopefully all those guys continue to
- 48:35Speaker 7: develop and become good players. And then I think you're
- 48:38Speaker 7: really talking about the Patriots having some staying power.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Uh, Mike Wrights saying everybody he calls himself Sweeney in Providence. Evan,
- 48:47Speaker 2: you're going raving, okay, off to the locker room and Mike.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Rabel indoor practice today.
- 48:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 48:54Speaker 5: Right.
- 48:55Speaker 2: As a lifelong Pats fan that was raised in Buffalo,
- 48:58Speaker 2: I have the habit of listening to the popular Bills
- 49:02Speaker 2: podcasts and radio shows before and after a Bill's Patriots matchup.
- 49:06Speaker 2: This habit has been a depressing one for half a
- 49:08Speaker 2: decade now, but Sunday Night's game has shifted the dynamic.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Bill's media is spending a good portion of their time
- 49:15Speaker 2: discussing how the Bill's got a taste of their own
- 49:17Speaker 2: Josh Allen medicine courtesy of Drake May and how the
- 49:21Speaker 2: comparison of Drake to Josh look very real. What's more,
- 49:25Speaker 2: it's just a few weeks ago Paul was cursing the
- 49:27Speaker 2: idea of penciling in wins, but as of this week,
- 49:30Speaker 2: that's exactly what the Bills mafia is doing with the
- 49:33Speaker 2: Patriots schedule. We have one of the best teams in
- 49:36Speaker 2: the league sweating a little bit and that is a
- 49:39Speaker 2: very satisfying outcome. Love you guys. Keep it up. We've
- 49:42Speaker 2: got our eye. And what should we name the Sunday
- 49:45Speaker 2: Night What should we name the Sunday Night game? That
- 49:49Speaker 2: Drake's Game or D's coming out? I don't have a name.
- 49:52Speaker 8: No, I'll get back to you on that one.
- 49:55Speaker 2: No name. It's not a game with a name.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Like, there's nothing like usually the name games.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Something really out of the ordinary happens, you know, and
- 50:03Speaker 3: aside from an upset.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I'm like, you don't want to just call the upset?
- 50:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we beat the Bills. That was out of the ordinary.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Not really.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Well, it could end up being the passing of the
- 50:11Speaker 2: torch game.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Oh well, I think in three years you might be
- 50:17Speaker 4: able to give it a name. Yeah yeah, if that happens.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Drake and Stuff coming out party?
- 50:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 50:23Speaker 3: How about the penalty fast I just I mean everyone
- 50:25Speaker 3: seems mind for like twenty five penalties. How about the
- 50:28Speaker 3: penalty fest tie too? Not as the Sean Hockey League game,
- 50:33Speaker 3: there's a lot of them. We came to watch you, bro.
- 50:36Speaker 7: I just, I mean, I everyone's got to meet those
- 50:37Speaker 7: comparisons to who Drake is like. But I just Josh
- 50:41Speaker 7: Allen is such a tank, like I just I can't.
- 50:44Speaker 7: That's where the comparisons end. Like, yes, they're good on
- 50:47Speaker 7: the run and they can throw the ball and they're
- 50:49Speaker 7: rolling out, but that's where it kind of departs from me.
- 50:52Speaker 7: And you know, in some ways it hasn't come to
- 50:54Speaker 7: fruition yet with Josh Allen.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But I keep saying I said it to you before, Paul.
- 50:57Speaker 7: It's like it feels like a matter of time at
- 50:58Speaker 7: some point before he just gets whacked and has a
- 51:00Speaker 7: big injury.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Oh I say this.
- 51:02Speaker 3: I don't want it to happen those guys, But I
- 51:03Speaker 3: feel like the other night Dake definitely took some shit,
- 51:06Speaker 3: does not protect himself well when he runs.
- 51:08Speaker 7: But like it's different in that Josh Allen is ready
- 51:11Speaker 7: to take that car, and I feel like Drake should
- 51:13Speaker 7: develop the weight, but he's more of like sleek and
- 51:15Speaker 7: if you can get away to slide and get out
- 51:17Speaker 7: of it, you know, like Josh has no problem with
- 51:20Speaker 7: just I'm going right through everybody. I don't care and
- 51:22Speaker 7: you know it hasn't come up to be a problem
- 51:24Speaker 7: for him yet, but.
- 51:24Speaker 3: It's it's like he predetermines, I'm going to be a
- 51:27Speaker 3: power runner on this on this particular.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Right, Drake doesn't have that gene. He's taking some big hands.
- 51:31Speaker 4: I think Drake runs with the power.
- 51:33Speaker 3: But I do think the comparisons are to me, they're
- 51:36Speaker 3: pretty pretty evident. I mean, I think they play in
- 51:39Speaker 3: a very similar style. They both have excellent arms. I
- 51:42Speaker 3: think Alan is bigger and definitely stronger. But I mean
- 51:48Speaker 3: I understand why coming out of North Carolina people made
- 51:50Speaker 3: those comparisons.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 51:52Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of similarities to the way
- 51:54Speaker 3: they want to play.
- 51:55Speaker 7: I guess just my hope is that Drake can continue
- 51:57Speaker 7: to learn not to take contact but still be a
- 51:59Speaker 7: fact with his legs and keep moments, get down, protect yourself,
- 52:03Speaker 7: will pick up first downs and you know, avoid the
- 52:05Speaker 7: big hits like I mean, he got smoked on that.
- 52:07Speaker 7: It was one run that he really got here like
- 52:09Speaker 7: in the air and the guy kind of hit him
- 52:10Speaker 7: mid air.
- 52:11Speaker 3: And I mean it wasn't it wasn't James Cook when
- 52:13Speaker 3: he was already down contact, but it was it was good.
- 52:15Speaker 4: It was big contents of my favorite hits of all time.
- 52:17Speaker 4: I just I'm telling you so hard, like just how
- 52:21Speaker 4: aggressive it was.
- 52:22Speaker 1: And James Cook was like, here you go, wrap the boom.
- 52:26Speaker 4: What happened was I thought he was giving the ball
- 52:29Speaker 4: to Josh.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Yeah right, it's a play fucker kill him. A lot
- 52:34Speaker 2: of emails coming in calls. We'll get to them in
- 52:36Speaker 2: a second.
- 52:37Speaker 5: Uh.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Jeff and Canada, my son is a senior in high
- 52:40Speaker 2: school and only listens when I have it on the
- 52:43Speaker 2: car your show. However, he loves the Mike Dusseau song,
- 52:46Speaker 2: the one that uses the Dak Prescott here we Go.
- 52:49Speaker 2: I often hear him singing and around the house. Last
- 52:52Speaker 2: night he asked me what episode it was and I
- 52:54Speaker 2: couldn't find it. If possible, can you play it or
- 52:57Speaker 2: put it up as a short on YouTube so he
- 52:59Speaker 2: can screen grab it. Also, remind me the name of
- 53:02Speaker 2: the lady in New Hampshire who created this music. I
- 53:05Speaker 2: want her to get her props for creating a song.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Even gen Z likes, yeah, that's chill.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I know we've had a couple of kids.
- 53:11Speaker 2: We have that here we Go Drake may I mean
- 53:15Speaker 2: Dak Prescott. Yeah, we have that song.
- 53:18Speaker 7: We can play when I get back from locker room.
- 53:19Speaker 7: If you want to look for it, just look on
- 53:23Speaker 7: sounder to Douce, I think.
- 53:25Speaker 4: Okay, here we go, might do so shout out.
- 53:33Speaker 2: All right, uh eight five five pass five hundred. We're
- 53:36Speaker 2: waiting for Mike Rabel. He should be coming up any
- 53:38Speaker 2: minute now. But let's quickly go to Randy in Providence.
- 53:42Speaker 2: What's up Randy?
- 53:44Speaker 13: Hey, So a couple quick things. Number One, I think
- 53:50Speaker 13: games is game, Like everybody's talking about the reception of
- 53:54Speaker 13: the targets, the yards. But Matt he was the consummate
- 53:57Speaker 13: teammate and felt like even when the defense was coming
- 54:00Speaker 13: off the field, he was there up in their face,
- 54:03Speaker 13: telling him a great job, you know, stuff like that.
- 54:06Speaker 13: And I thought that kind of got a little bit
- 54:10Speaker 13: glossed over because of all the great numbers that he
- 54:12Speaker 13: put up, you know. And it's there was a lot
- 54:15Speaker 13: of talk about him being a locker room problem, trying
- 54:17Speaker 13: to hear him being signed, and I think he's just
- 54:19Speaker 13: the complete opposite there. And given his history in Buffalo,
- 54:23Speaker 13: I just hope that continues and it wasn't a specific
- 54:25Speaker 13: Buffalo thing. And then on the running backs, I turned
- 54:30Speaker 13: tune in a little bit late you guys might have
- 54:31Speaker 13: covered this. Do you think there's a running back on
- 54:34Speaker 13: the market that they'd be looking at, because there are
- 54:36Speaker 13: a couple of teams with good running backs that don't
- 54:39Speaker 13: have a good outlook, namely you know, Derrick Henry has
- 54:42Speaker 13: got to be the obvious one, right and then Alvin Kamara.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Also, Yeah, I mean we did talk about that a
- 54:48Speaker 2: little bit yesterday, thanks Randy.
- 54:50Speaker 3: People really think the Ravens are going to unplug the season? Oh,
- 54:54Speaker 3: like they're not even going to show up for the
- 54:56Speaker 3: rest of the schedule.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know.
- 54:58Speaker 4: There's still the odds on favorite to when the ac
- 55:00Speaker 4: all that.
- 55:01Speaker 2: Yeah, Paul thinks it's too early. The deadline is what
- 55:03Speaker 2: two weeks.
- 55:04Speaker 3: No, I'm not interested in Derreck Henry and I whatever.
- 55:08Speaker 3: But I'm just I'm trying to figure out why Baltimore
- 55:10Speaker 3: is going to say, well, we three weeks ago, we
- 55:12Speaker 3: thought we were a super Bowl team. It hasn't worked
- 55:14Speaker 3: out because we had a couple of injuries, so we
- 55:16Speaker 3: might as well just pack it in and trade everybody,
- 55:18Speaker 3: all right, I don't see that happening. Take Kyle Hamilton now,
- 55:21Speaker 3: maybe three weeks from now, if they lose three more
- 55:23Speaker 3: in a row and at one and seven that's different.
- 55:26Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I think he's the model. I mean,
- 55:28Speaker 7: you want an early down guy, but I mean that's effective.
- 55:32Speaker 7: He's been fumbling.
- 55:33Speaker 1: If you like Rimandra Stevens is fum, you love Derek Henry.
- 55:37Speaker 7: You know, it's that's what we talked about, is you know,
- 55:39Speaker 7: is Terrell Jennings is gonna get a chance? I like
- 55:41Speaker 7: there's part of me that thinks that that's the kind
- 55:43Speaker 7: of program very able wants that. If you're on the
- 55:45Speaker 7: practice squad and somebody gets hurt on the roster you've
- 55:47Speaker 7: been working here. You know, maybe I'm wrong, but I
- 55:50Speaker 7: see that as all right, this is going to be
- 55:52Speaker 7: the But.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Do you think if if we see a continuation of
- 55:55Speaker 2: the effectiveness of Diggs and Booty and the receivers get
- 55:59Speaker 2: more into the will it help the running game? I
- 56:01Speaker 2: mean not that I think we're averaging like over four
- 56:04Speaker 2: yard to carry right now. No, we're not.
- 56:07Speaker 1: I don't think sure exactly what that is. But they're bad.
- 56:10Speaker 1: I mean, they're the worst rushing team in the EAD.
- 56:12Speaker 4: But do you think could age yea three seven three
- 56:16Speaker 4: point seven?
- 56:18Speaker 2: But could it get better if if the pass, if
- 56:22Speaker 2: the passing game continues to be that threat that teams
- 56:24Speaker 2: have to be like, oh.
- 56:25Speaker 8: Yeah, well that's why.
- 56:26Speaker 7: I just I see it as the most critical component
- 56:29Speaker 7: for the offense to develop here in the coming weeks.
- 56:31Speaker 3: And it would be worse than that if it weren't
- 56:33Speaker 3: from May. Hey average is over four big runs.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's uh.
- 56:37Speaker 7: I mean, I think Paul brought up Jamichael Hasty, who's
- 56:39Speaker 7: been around. I just thought because he was here here.
- 56:42Speaker 7: I mean, but there's some veterans kind of guy no socks.
- 56:46Speaker 7: Brings up Gus Edwards, the gust Buss, like just a
- 56:49Speaker 7: proven NFL type I think would would make sense. Mike
- 56:53Speaker 7: has mentioned Zach Moss. I think some of those kinds.
- 56:56Speaker 7: I don't want to invest anything and get Derek Henry.
- 56:59Speaker 7: I mean, obviously Derek Henry is a far superior player
- 57:02Speaker 7: to any of the guys that we're talking about, but
- 57:03Speaker 7: that costs you something to get him, something to pay him, like.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Like Stephen Jackson, I don't care about.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Like the ghost the ghost of Stephen Jackson. Like the
- 57:11Speaker 3: course of Stephen Jackson game. You know, he has some
- 57:16Speaker 3: big runs for touchdowns even this year.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Henry.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, but it hasn't been overly effective on
- 57:22Speaker 3: a down to down basis, and it's there's some statistical breakdowns.
- 57:26Speaker 3: I think that would open your eyes for how much
- 57:29Speaker 3: Baltimore struggled with him, not just the fumbles.
- 57:32Speaker 2: Danny and Daytona, what's up, Danny?
- 57:35Speaker 7: Heyman, yell, Now we can't.
- 57:45Speaker 4: I just have a take.
- 57:47Speaker 15: I like how the team. I like how the team played.
- 57:51Speaker 14: They did.
- 57:53Speaker 15: Really issue I would have is how the defense had
- 57:57Speaker 15: too many penalties. There was a lot of there was
- 57:59Speaker 15: a lot of bonehead plays that they had made, and
- 58:03Speaker 15: I wasn't too crazy about that. When they get your
- 58:05Speaker 15: Jake Paul on that and then the other Jake. Do
- 58:09Speaker 15: you guys like how they're they're doing on the offense.
- 58:12Speaker 15: They're kind of mixing in the different different plays, the
- 58:14Speaker 15: different passing council.
- 58:18Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I just I like the way Drake May
- 58:21Speaker 3: and Stefan dis played the other night.
- 58:23Speaker 4: I didn't really see much.
- 58:24Speaker 2: I think. I think Josh McDaniels is doing a good job.
- 58:27Speaker 2: I do. Yep, all right, thanks Danny, thanks for the call.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Uh yeah, penalties were you know, yeah, the penalties on defense,
- 58:39Speaker 4: the three fifteen yard penalties. You can't have that now,
- 58:41Speaker 4: I mean, maybe maybe you can excuse one, but not three. Yeah,
- 58:45Speaker 4: that's too much.
- 58:45Speaker 2: Jacob and Nashville. I feel like a very undertalked about
- 58:50Speaker 2: result from the win this weekend is that we are
- 58:52Speaker 2: finally out of the hell that was Patriot fan fracture,
- 58:57Speaker 2: gone to the days of fans rooting for Joe Milton,
- 59:00Speaker 2: Malik Cunningham and Bailey's Appy. Evan had talked about Drake
- 59:04Speaker 2: Maye's elite arm talent that was different than the power
- 59:06Speaker 2: of Milton's elite armed strength. Can y'all talk a little
- 59:10Speaker 2: bit about the different throws he saw from Drake's touch,
- 59:13Speaker 2: power and accuracy. Well, Evan's not here right.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Now, out your pick, but I mean we've been talking
- 59:20Speaker 3: about it like that's that was the game. The game
- 59:23Speaker 3: was Drake May's ability to make throws off platform as
- 59:26Speaker 3: he's running to the sideline, as he's falling out of bounds,
- 59:29Speaker 3: as he's being dragged down by a defender, little little
- 59:33Speaker 3: dumpoffs while getting hit, slight moves in the pocket on
- 59:37Speaker 3: the ball to Booty on the last drive. It was
- 59:41Speaker 3: the total package, Drake may I don't really know if
- 59:45Speaker 3: any if there was really too much in terms of
- 59:47Speaker 3: the Joe Milton stuff like the elite Cunningham that was
- 59:51Speaker 3: Mac Jones. Like since May's been here, I don't know
- 59:54Speaker 3: if there's been much of a fracture among Patriots fans
- 59:56Speaker 3: about who should be the quarterback.
- 59:58Speaker 2: I just reminded we're waiting for the Vrabel twelve to
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: fifty five press conference, which has become our Wednesday tradition,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: and football fans know that traditions matter, turning moments together
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: into something truly epic. There what inspire us to make
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: our masa in Tostitos traditional way, starting with whole corn kernels,
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: no artificial flavors, colors are preservatives, all to give you
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: that perfect crunch. Discover your next tradition this football season.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Head to the store, grab you a Tostito's team bag
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: and scan the code for a chance to score on
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: epic experience with the Patriots. Tostitos tradition matters. So Mike's
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: running a little bit late.
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: It looks like huh, yeah, I was just gonna say
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: I mentioned kool Aid McKinstry.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: He won Defensive Player of the Week for last week.
- 1:00:43Speaker 7: Two picks right, two picks at the end of Yeah,
- 1:00:46Speaker 7: he's a physical guy. I mean that's somebody that you know.
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: I don't think they're really a man match kind of
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: team where he's going to follow anybody. But I think
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: he's a good young player for them, and he'll probably
- 1:00:56Speaker 7: see plenty of stuff on things that would guess.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Matthew thinks the game should have been called snow Melts
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: in May. You know, I know they were wearing their
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: rival rings, but that won't it's you won't. It's hard
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: to remember that five years from now that oh yeah,
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: they were wearing those white uniforms. If it was snowing
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: that day, that had been different.
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: Like Drake and Staph do Buffalo that was that was it,
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: those two guys going nuts.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: And Oliver in London thinks it should be called the
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Drake Digs one out of nowhere. That doesn't really catch. Yeah,
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: it doesn't have the ring of Harper's muff no, or.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: The the wind game Yeah, snowball, the I don't.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: Know, yeah, Corpse of Stephen Jackson game.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Right, I'm going to be I'm going to be smarter
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: than everybody else and kickoff an overtime game.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Marvin writes in Marvin's a Good Friend. He makes great
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: cornhole custom cornhole he's unbelievable. Yeah, he says. My daughter, Meredith,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: is an only child, so that Turner name lineage would
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: die out when I pass away. So Meredith decided to
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: name her first son, my first grandson, with Turner as
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: his first name. See that's what I'm talking about. That
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: that's great, that has meaning. I can't tell you how
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: great that made me feel when she told me that's
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: what they're gonna do. And Paul, did you catch the
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Emmy tribute to Earth Wind and Fire? It was awesome?
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Of course I did. Thanks for asking.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Appreciate you an alert for that or no, I did.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: I watched a little of it. They're just they're just tremendous. Yeah, Like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: I don't know how you cannot be in a good
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: mood listening to those songs.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: Totally. What song came on when we were over at
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: a red robin last week, I know.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: You're your genre. That something came on.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: I forget what.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: Oh it was a tailor remix. I think it was
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: a tailor dance song.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: But the next day, tip Andre Tippet walked through our
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: office and he was singing an earth Wind and Fire sung.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Did you watched last night?
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I started, he going, did I? And
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: then of course he tells me the story. He goes,
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: did I tell you about the time I was in
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: the fourth Son with Philip Bailey? Like, okay, Tip, you're cool.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: I get it.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Kelly says, my son's name is Booker. What do you think, Fred?
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: His middle name is Bear, after his grandfather, So his
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: name is Booker Bear. I would have preferred you name
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: his first name Bear after his grandfather, so I wo
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: have his middle name.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: I went the middle name too, but he's will is
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: named after both of his grandfathers, William, Alphonse. When I
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: told my father that, he goes, don't do that to him.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: He goes, he doesn't need that. I go, it's just
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: a middle name.
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: Dad, jeez, well my my mylon I could.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: I always kind of liked it too. It was different.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: I mean I had, like my parents were Alphonse in Virginia,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: two like names that were a little a little different
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: old country now definitely older.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: Well, my grandfather, the Ted Williams, was Clarence and everyone
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: knew him as Ding. But my dad put Clarence in
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: the mix briefly, and my mom was like, no, Clarence, No, Clarence.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: You imagine no Clarence Clarence. You imagine me Clarence Clarence
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: do so. We were nobody knew Clarence anymore.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Right, My great on her first time Clarents do so.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: My great aunt's first name was Auxilia and her husband,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: uh last name was Salvatore. So it was Auxilia Salvatore.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: I thought that was that's a good name, that's a
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: good solid name.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Well, you know, Clarence's dad was Fred.
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: It was Fred do So, my great grandfather was a
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: Fred dou Seller.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Of course you have someone named Fred. He's variable.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: How do you feel since.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: He's taken over, Zach has kind of progressed in the
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: him's play calling duties.
- 1:04:34Speaker 16: I think everybody over there has done really good job
- 1:04:37Speaker 16: as far as just organizationally, the communication to put the
- 1:04:41Speaker 16: plan together, the efficiency to put a plan together, and
- 1:04:46Speaker 16: the practice preparation and everything else. And you know, I
- 1:04:49Speaker 16: think he's again, there's no perfect call. I've said this
- 1:04:53Speaker 16: millions of times, and I as long as our personnel
- 1:04:56Speaker 16: is in the game and the call gets in there
- 1:04:59Speaker 16: and it's decisive and one that the players understand, uh,
- 1:05:04Speaker 16: then it's.
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: A good call.
- 1:05:05Speaker 16: And we'll have good execution and sometimes we won't have
- 1:05:08Speaker 16: such great execution. But I mean, I do think that
- 1:05:11Speaker 16: we haven't had any trouble with those we haven't been
- 1:05:16Speaker 16: you know, press, we've been in two minute situations. We've
- 1:05:19Speaker 16: been in you know, third down, we've been you know,
- 1:05:21Speaker 16: we've stayed in personnel groups, we've changed personnel groups. So,
- 1:05:25Speaker 16: you know, I think Zach's you know, doing doing a
- 1:05:28Speaker 16: good job, and one need to do a great job
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: this week for what they do offensively.
- 1:05:32Speaker 17: Mike, you've talked to us about your input, uh here
- 1:05:34Speaker 17: and there on offense. What's your level of involved with
- 1:05:37Speaker 17: the defensive keep playing?
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: I think it stays the same.
- 1:05:40Speaker 16: It's I'm trying to be in a lot of different
- 1:05:42Speaker 16: places and try to.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: Help where I can.
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: I enjoy being you know, defensively, and certainly help offensively
- 1:05:52Speaker 16: when I can so special teams wise, I think I
- 1:05:55Speaker 16: try to help where I can talk to both working.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Guys harder after a win, being able to do that.
- 1:06:01Speaker 18: Past how do you handle an emotional game like that
- 1:06:05Speaker 18: as far as getting.
- 1:06:06Speaker 16: Them back mentally, practice and you know, go through meetings,
- 1:06:09Speaker 16: you focus on new opponent. We don't really know this opponent.
- 1:06:13Speaker 16: I would say it's as new for a lot of
- 1:06:16Speaker 16: players here and maybe some coaches here as far as
- 1:06:20Speaker 16: you know their personnel and what they do and their
- 1:06:22Speaker 16: skill players offensively and a lave and you know Shaheed
- 1:06:26Speaker 16: and how good Kamara is and Miller coming on and
- 1:06:29Speaker 16: running as hard as he did. They got all all
- 1:06:31Speaker 16: their tight ends are available and up ready to go.
- 1:06:34Speaker 16: So we'll have to understand the difference between Jennings and
- 1:06:37Speaker 16: you know, when when Taysom's in the game or Moreau
- 1:06:40Speaker 16: and you know, right on down the line defensively, so
- 1:06:44Speaker 16: it's a big physical front. You know, I've always you know,
- 1:06:50Speaker 16: appreciated the way to Mario Davis plays the game. And
- 1:06:53Speaker 16: you know, corners are active, big long play the football
- 1:06:58Speaker 16: at twenty four PBUs on a season as defense, so
- 1:07:01Speaker 16: they're creating turnovers.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: And that was the difference in the last week's game.
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: Like there are some of the treats that Terrell Jennings
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: has that has helped him stick around.
- 1:07:09Speaker 16: Oh well, I think he's a great teammate. I think
- 1:07:12Speaker 16: he cares about the team. He's able to play on
- 1:07:16Speaker 16: special teams, he's able to play on a fourth down.
- 1:07:19Speaker 16: I think he's got a toughness to him, and I
- 1:07:21Speaker 16: think he's improved.
- 1:07:22Speaker 18: Like when you put yourself in the shoes of the players, Uh,
- 1:07:26Speaker 18: can it be a challenge to show the same energy
- 1:07:29Speaker 18: and resolve the week after having such a big week
- 1:07:31Speaker 18: and a big emotional win on Sunday night can be
- 1:07:34Speaker 18: tough the match at the coming week.
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: You know, you know.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: We have a job to do. It's same every week.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: You know, we try to do.
- 1:07:41Speaker 16: I think that if we are consistent each and every week,
- 1:07:45Speaker 16: and I think it allows us to you know, get
- 1:07:48Speaker 16: past some of those things. We're disappointed after we lost,
- 1:07:52Speaker 16: disappointed after you know, happy when we won, disappointed when
- 1:07:55Speaker 16: we lost. And you know, I think we've responded, and
- 1:07:57Speaker 16: you know, we want have to, you know, make sure
- 1:08:00Speaker 16: that we're we're doing everything that we possibly can to
- 1:08:03Speaker 16: prepare to go on and handle another tough environment and
- 1:08:07Speaker 16: just you know, being able to handle the road environment
- 1:08:11Speaker 16: and the crowd noise and everything else. I'm sure they'll
- 1:08:13Speaker 16: be excited, you know, they played really well last week.
- 1:08:15Speaker 16: I'm sure they'll have the same great support that they
- 1:08:19Speaker 16: always have in the dome.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: I know you guys had a money micro practice thought yesterday,
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: but is that a position you would continue to look
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: to add to whip Gibson's injury, and.
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: Then we're continued.
- 1:08:30Speaker 16: I think they'll probably hopefully look everywhere where we if
- 1:08:33Speaker 16: there's somebody that we feel like can help us, whether
- 1:08:35Speaker 16: that's at running back or any other position.
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: But right now, nothing new to add.
- 1:08:43Speaker 11: Leads the team defensives nowase, I know a lot we.
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: Disease.
- 1:08:49Speaker 17: What are some things that you've done for your trust
- 1:08:52Speaker 17: play Bill?
- 1:08:54Speaker 16: I think he, you know, good communicator, He's good in
- 1:08:57Speaker 16: a open field. He's been able to handle a lot
- 1:09:01Speaker 16: of volume, take care of his body. It hasn't been
- 1:09:05Speaker 16: been perfect, but you feel like he's just you know,
- 1:09:09Speaker 16: some snaps. I'm sure he'd like to have back, but
- 1:09:11Speaker 16: there's been a it hasn't been too big for him
- 1:09:15Speaker 16: and he and he stayed stayed healthy.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: So that's the biggest thing. Mike. What are some of
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: the things that you've seen Spencer Radler do? Gonna meet him?
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: All comes out really quick.
- 1:09:25Speaker 16: I think that they he's decisive with the football, and
- 1:09:29Speaker 16: I think he also was really good when he runs it.
- 1:09:32Speaker 16: You know, they designed some plays for him to run. Uh,
- 1:09:38Speaker 16: he's been good in that regard and Uh, then he's
- 1:09:41Speaker 16: also there's been some play extensions where you know, he's
- 1:09:44Speaker 16: been able to get out of there pretty quickly, and
- 1:09:45Speaker 16: and so I think the decisiveness is continuing to show
- 1:09:49Speaker 16: up and improve. And you know, they played well in
- 1:09:53Speaker 16: Buffalo and had you know, it was a one score game.
- 1:09:56Speaker 16: In the fourth quarter, they rough the punter and that
- 1:09:59Speaker 16: was pretty much the end of it. And then obviously
- 1:10:02Speaker 16: they got down last week. I think it was an
- 1:10:06Speaker 16: impressive job on their parts and and Kellen's job and
- 1:10:10Speaker 16: be down fourteen to three and come storming back and
- 1:10:13Speaker 16: hit a big play and then create some turnovers.
- 1:10:18Speaker 19: Alvin Camorrow specifically, I'm looking back on this last game,
- 1:10:21Speaker 19: how how is.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: The Deacon's able to stop James Cook?
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: And how to getting the message yourself the louder. Now
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: we're just worried about Alvin Kamara and Miller.
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: Well and say, how can you build a cross up?
- 1:10:35Speaker 16: We'll have to do it over again, and we'll have
- 1:10:37Speaker 16: to to work due to week to build a wall,
- 1:10:39Speaker 16: to set.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: An edge and to swarm and tackle and be able.
- 1:10:43Speaker 16: To fit the runs up that they'll probably have in
- 1:10:46Speaker 16: a scheme and everything else. But you know, what you
- 1:10:48Speaker 16: did one week certainly doesn't guarantee what you're going to
- 1:10:51Speaker 16: do the next week, positively or negatively.
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: So you know, they do a good job.
- 1:10:57Speaker 16: They're on the ball, they have you know, runs out
- 1:10:59Speaker 16: of tempo, they have shots out of tempo.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: You know they're under center, they're in the gun and
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: the pistol. So that's there's a lot, a lot.
- 1:11:07Speaker 16: To be able to get ready for formationally, so things
- 1:11:11Speaker 16: that we'll have to be ready for.
- 1:11:13Speaker 18: It seems like you're it seems like to do with
- 1:11:14Speaker 18: the defensive touch on the wow to involve motion.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: Want of your therts been any kind of theme in
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: those and what do you have to do?
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: Basically, I just communicate and understand it.
- 1:11:23Speaker 16: Those are all scheme plays and that you know, that's
- 1:11:26Speaker 16: what we're gonna get, and we have to do a
- 1:11:28Speaker 16: better job in the red zone of communicating and anticipating
- 1:11:33Speaker 16: what that is. I don't think they're just gonna line
- 1:11:35Speaker 16: you know, line up and run a play. You know,
- 1:11:40Speaker 16: I mean there's gonna be something involved that that grabs
- 1:11:43Speaker 16: your eyes, it grabs your attention, you know, misdirection, you know,
- 1:11:47Speaker 16: I don't know what the plays are. I can just
- 1:11:50Speaker 16: try to explain what the concepts are gonna be on.
- 1:11:52Speaker 16: You know they're going to change him a little bit
- 1:11:54Speaker 16: each week, but you know, when you look around, that's
- 1:11:56Speaker 16: kind of what it is like with tidewings down out.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: What do you like about the captains on this team
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: because of them setting the standard and the communication between
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: coaches and the team.
- 1:12:07Speaker 16: Yeah, I think they do a good job of relaying
- 1:12:09Speaker 16: the message that we try to create each week. And
- 1:12:14Speaker 16: I think they do a good job of bringing some
- 1:12:18Speaker 16: things that maybe some other players or some younger players
- 1:12:22Speaker 16: may have throughout the week to me, and my job
- 1:12:27Speaker 16: is to listen. My job is to try to make
- 1:12:29Speaker 16: a decision that's best for.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: The team, but to try to listen to them. Not
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: that I'm always gonna.
- 1:12:34Speaker 16: Do everything that you know they ask, but I do
- 1:12:38Speaker 16: appreciate them coming and sharing some of those thoughts from
- 1:12:42Speaker 16: the rest of the team.
- 1:12:43Speaker 17: But it's only been a five game sample with a
- 1:12:45Speaker 17: new head coach, do you get a sense at all
- 1:12:47Speaker 17: holistically like cal Kellen and his staff, one of them
- 1:12:49Speaker 17: play games they win.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think that they want to run
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: the football. I think they do.
- 1:12:56Speaker 16: I think they want to use tempo on on their terms,
- 1:13:00Speaker 16: which they've done a great job of. I think they
- 1:13:02Speaker 16: want to make you prepare for a lot, and I
- 1:13:05Speaker 16: think they they've got a lot of speed on the
- 1:13:08Speaker 16: edges and that they're that they're trying to create. But also,
- 1:13:12Speaker 16: you know, understand with a young quarterback that they want
- 1:13:16Speaker 16: to be able to try to get it out of
- 1:13:17Speaker 16: his hand just from a numbers wise and not sit
- 1:13:19Speaker 16: there and hold it. So they've been successful with that.
- 1:13:22Speaker 16: Try to keep it in third and third and manageable
- 1:13:25Speaker 16: like the.
- 1:13:25Speaker 7: Running game at this point is like the running game
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: at this point is toward the bottom of the league.
- 1:13:30Speaker 19: Twenty seventh break, wondering how you can improve on that.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: Obviously the passing game.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Has been much stronger.
- 1:13:37Speaker 16: Just keep working at it, you know, I'm with you,
- 1:13:41Speaker 16: We understand that, and it's got to be better, you know,
- 1:13:44Speaker 16: it has to be better at the line of scrimmage
- 1:13:46Speaker 16: at the second level, you know, and then continue to
- 1:13:49Speaker 16: try to finish to break some of these and we've
- 1:13:52Speaker 16: had some good runs.
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: It's just the you know, not enough of them, not enough.
- 1:13:59Speaker 16: You know, double it runs, you know, and that help
- 1:14:01Speaker 16: your your average. So again I think that, you know,
- 1:14:06Speaker 16: we got to stop talking about being one guy away
- 1:14:09Speaker 16: or one block away. And I think that was a
- 1:14:12Speaker 16: big theme from last week, and they don't have to fix.
- 1:14:17Speaker 19: You said that, you you said that you've learned that penalties.
- 1:14:21Speaker 20: Are not a strong indicator of wins. How did that
- 1:14:24Speaker 20: information change your approach to coaching that area.
- 1:14:27Speaker 16: Well, it's it's not that that that we don't care
- 1:14:31Speaker 16: about penalties, right, We want to make great decisions, and
- 1:14:36Speaker 16: but I also understand that team fouls are ones that
- 1:14:39Speaker 16: happened before the snap, Like we have to be better
- 1:14:41Speaker 16: on you know, on hunters communicating with the official and
- 1:14:46Speaker 16: you know, thinking that we got you know, hoping we
- 1:14:48Speaker 16: got that cleaned up. We don't want to line up
- 1:14:51Speaker 16: off sides. We don't want to extend drives competition fouls,
- 1:14:56Speaker 16: and we ask them to play full tilt to the tackle.
- 1:14:59Speaker 16: But then there's a line there and we have to
- 1:15:00Speaker 16: we have to you know, we have to play by
- 1:15:04Speaker 16: two things. The whistle, right. I just don't understand how
- 1:15:07Speaker 16: a professional athlete could could assume that anybody in this
- 1:15:10Speaker 16: league was down and we're gonna play to the whistle,
- 1:15:13Speaker 16: and we're gonna play to two feet in the white,
- 1:15:14Speaker 16: and we we have to you know, pass rush and
- 1:15:18Speaker 16: not hit the quarterback in the head. Can't hit him
- 1:15:21Speaker 16: in the knees. And then when you know another player
- 1:15:25Speaker 16: has the iss two feet in the white, we can't
- 1:15:28Speaker 16: hit him or give the appearance you know that we're
- 1:15:31Speaker 16: we're hitting him. I think Schooler ran over there and
- 1:15:36Speaker 16: stood there, and then the same guy got tackled by
- 1:15:39Speaker 16: Marcus and the officials saw that, and you know, so
- 1:15:42Speaker 16: again you just have to understand kind of what they're
- 1:15:44Speaker 16: looking at.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: But we have to play aggressive.
- 1:15:49Speaker 16: I think that there has to be an aggressiveness of
- 1:15:51Speaker 16: the way that we play, but also that comes into
- 1:15:54Speaker 16: the decision making and when too, to make a great decision.
- 1:16:00Speaker 16: And you know, it's hard for me to sit here
- 1:16:02Speaker 16: and fault Josh, you know from last week and there's
- 1:16:06Speaker 16: no whistle and running backs acting like he's gonna flip
- 1:16:09Speaker 16: the ball back to the quarterback. And I mean, certainly
- 1:16:13Speaker 16: would have liked to not had a penalty call, but
- 1:16:16Speaker 16: I can see it both ways.
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: Uh just ask that they, you know, blow to whistle.
- 1:16:22Speaker 16: And it's an easy way for us to say that
- 1:16:25Speaker 16: the play's over and that our efforts need to stop.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: And but I don't know how else to coach it.
- 1:16:31Speaker 16: I don't know how else to coach professional players and
- 1:16:34Speaker 16: on defense in this league, with the type of athletes
- 1:16:36Speaker 16: that you know you're going against, it's it's hard to
- 1:16:39Speaker 16: bring them down. One guy, they keep running, they bounce
- 1:16:42Speaker 16: in next thing, you know.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:16:44Speaker 16: So again, we'll keep coaching it. And it's not that
- 1:16:46Speaker 16: it's not important. It's it's important, but it's also there's
- 1:16:54Speaker 16: a something behind it. I'll tell you every ex player run.
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: We gotta have Taylor track this.
- 1:16:59Speaker 16: Every ex player running this league, there's probably a hold,
- 1:17:02Speaker 16: you know what I mean? Like that just that they
- 1:17:03Speaker 16: don't call it, that they don't miss however they don't
- 1:17:05Speaker 16: see or they don't feel like they should call it.
- 1:17:08Speaker 16: That's that's kind of what happens. And so you want
- 1:17:12Speaker 16: to be aggressive certainly, just not reckless.
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: Like I do about you guys. You have said the
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: players and either earn their role. For the players who
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: are currently on the Show team or Scott.
- 1:17:22Speaker 16: Team, what things you do to earn a row to
- 1:17:25Speaker 16: be with the regulars outside?
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Well, I think it's twofold.
- 1:17:29Speaker 16: I think it's one based on who's in front of
- 1:17:31Speaker 16: them and the health of that player. Uh Two, prepare
- 1:17:35Speaker 16: as a starter each and every week, continue to to
- 1:17:38Speaker 16: improve and get recognized and you know, three take advantage
- 1:17:41Speaker 16: of their opportunities when it comes. And so, you know,
- 1:17:46Speaker 16: we have a lot of guys that are getting better
- 1:17:48Speaker 16: and improving in that area, and I you know, that's
- 1:17:51Speaker 16: that's valuable. It's valuable for us to be able to
- 1:17:54Speaker 16: rep against them, and also valuable, very valuable for them
- 1:17:58Speaker 16: to improve and get those practice reps. So hopefully when
- 1:18:03Speaker 16: we need them or they earn the opportunity, they'll be ready.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: Thank you.

- 1:21:50Speaker 2: locker room right now. We just heard Mike Frame. Not
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: a lot of headline news, but I thought it was
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: very interesting. And he stuck up, stood up for Farmer,
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: saying that the whistle.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: Had for everybody, especially that one.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, the whistle had not blown. And you know, his
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: point is, how in the NFL do you know the
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: play is dead unless the whistle blows? So he goes,
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: that's the way we coach it. You play to the whistle.
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: So I you know, so if I'm going to take
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: that so, I understand me more than anyone understands bitching
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: about the refs frustration specifically towards the refs.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: Right, that's what I do.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: But if you're going to take that, like super literally
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: what he said, I wouldn't expect the penalties to stop
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: because if he's thinking that that's okay, like I said,
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: I think I said yesterday. There's an argument to be
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: made that that was unnecessary roughness even if the whistle
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: hadn't blown, you.
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: Know, even if he was like.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: Helm right, I mean, he's like you clearly see he's
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: down and tied it up with somebody else. You don't
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: have to come in and light him up, do you
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: know what I mean? You can come in and just
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: sort of like fall on the pile if you think
- 1:23:01Speaker 3: he's still up and the whistle hasn't blown.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: Yeah, he came in and buried him. But well, if
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: that's okay, if that's how you're coaching it. Again, I'm
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: taking it super literally. And I know he's not coaching
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: it this way, but if he were coaching it that way, like, Okay,
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: that's a good play, don't expect the penalties to stop.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: But I think the other messages to the ref like
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: don't forget to blow the whistle.
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously I don't have the coch I mean, I'm
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: going to assume he's right about that.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: We can't. I can't get that.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: A lot of people said that, like, but I don't
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: hear the whistle on every play?
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: No, you almost never hear the whistle, Yeah, unless you're
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: there I mean maybe if you're there you can hear
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: the whistle.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: But yeah, so but I thought that was interesting. That's
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: really the only takeaway I had. You know, everything was
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: pretty vanilla.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think he sort of recognizes the
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: running back situation, but you know he's being more more
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: Belichick like there more generic.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: Yeah, we're always looking to look a team and sure.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Looking for a way to improve.
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: He was asked the question that we've sort of been
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: talking about out a theme kind of of the day,
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: turning the page to the next game, and you know,
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: is that a challenge and you know it's like we
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: do that every week, you know what. So a lot
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: of a lot of Belichick kind of mentality there. But yeah,
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: just regular Mike.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: I got okay. Eight five five Pats five hundred is
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: the Hotline podcast at pages dot com. We got the
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: phone stacked up, so let's start unstacking. Eldred's in North Carolina.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: What's up Eldred? Eldred? Oh wow, Aldred's gone. Usually he
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: sticks he sticks iron if he may got pulled over. Yeah,
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: I hope everything's all right. Sean's in Vancouver. What's up Sean? Sean?
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: Oh, I think Mike might have scared people away. He's gone,
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: I'll be trying to back away. If Boston Cream's not here.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: Lines are opening up, Boston Cream, what's up, Boston Cream.
- 1:25:02Speaker 12: I would never disappoint boys.
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:25:06Speaker 12: The Patriots are back, the AFC is sweating. This felt
- 1:25:10Speaker 12: like kind of the best wins since Super Bowl fifty three,
- 1:25:13Speaker 12: And honestly, it felt a little bit better because I
- 1:25:15Speaker 12: think we all kind of had the same thought that
- 1:25:17Speaker 12: we don't know if we have a quarterback.
- 1:25:19Speaker 22: We don't know.
- 1:25:19Speaker 12: Everything's uncertain, right, So that confirmation was super nice. We
- 1:25:25Speaker 12: might have a little Mounting Brady interdivisional which might be nice.
- 1:25:29Speaker 12: But a couple of things Vanilla Vick aka Drake may
- 1:25:33Speaker 12: spiceon and Diceman defense how can you not feel bad?
- 1:25:36Speaker 12: And the Venezuelan Vinitari. We got one, boys, we got
- 1:25:40Speaker 12: a kicker.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, you worked on your material. I'll give
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: it to you.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Good good Boston Cream.
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: Who's creativity?
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Who's winning the picks? I would have to look, okay,
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: well it is your thing, right, that's my thing? Yeah, okay,
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: all right, we'll talk about that tomorrow. Thanks for appreciate it,
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Andrew writes in he says, uh, yesterday's episode was the
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: best one you had in years because Chris with a
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: Tian called in and Christian in La did not Wow.
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: Yeah wow.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: And now that we're well into the season, is there
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: going to be a way for those of us who
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: don't listen live to win a T shirt? If there
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: is one, would it be possible to have Fred personally
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: put a small mustard stain on one. I'm an airline pilot,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: and much like the Catholic Church used to send sacred
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: relics on tour, I would probably proudly display Father Fred's
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: holy mustard stain around the continental US, with occasional stops
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: in Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii. Keep up the great work
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: and ps. Deus regularly makes me laugh out loud with
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: his subtle comments that nobody else even notices.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: He's generally I noticed them, Yeah, and I usually say
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: something to him afterwards because usually those are for me.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: We have kind of like you know, when you do
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: a lot of prempo game shows together, Fred, you kind
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: of get a feel for each other.
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: Well, Mike is very subtle with those.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Well, Andrew, if you promise to wear a T shirt
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: all over the world, we can certainly arrange for that.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: So Alex, why don't you keep that email from Andrew
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: and we'll see what we can do for him. So
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: lots of emails, Josh says, some of them how to
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: beat New Orleans. He calls himself Wisco Glenn. Okay, I
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: don't know why I called him, Josh. The Saints are
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: not good against the run. The Giants opened good holes
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: for scatter Bowl last week. Paul's right. The Gints gave
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: the ball away a lot and they could have dominated
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: possession time. Giants have good weapons, but seem to stall
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: in the red zone because they can't run with power
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: or play in a compacted field. What if the play
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: what if we play five to six dbs in this game?
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Make Rattler win with his arm?
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: Okayait man, if you want to make Rattler beat you,
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: wouldn't you play bas defense?
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: Take away the run right, you know, dare him to
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: throw right right, put it in his head. If you
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: do five to six DB's all the time, they're going
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: to try Hendre Miller at you in Alvin Kamara. Now,
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: I think the Patriots have been really good in run defense.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: Maybe they feel comfortable stopping it with you know, less
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: than their their base package in terms of personnel. But
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: just if you're trying to put the game in the
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: quarterback's hands, you want to dare him to throw. You
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: put big bodies out there and stop the run.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: Let's see Jordan wants to call the game in Buffalo
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: in honor Stefan's huge performance. What about the ghost of
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: Stefan games? Stefan comes back to haunt them. Yeah, if
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: you have to explain it, it doesn't work. Yeah, so
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: I think they just have to be really quick.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Like, and I think there.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Has to be something like Harper's Muff game, Like it's
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: an obscure player who had one very specific gaff in
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: the game that turned the game.
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: Yep, you know, this was just kind of.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: This was a regular foot I think that's probably the
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: best part of the Patriots win is that there's nothing
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: like that that you point to. There's not like a weird, right,
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: you know, fluky kind of asterisk that you're looking to
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: attach to the game. It was just two good teams
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: playing against each other, and the Patriots made the plays
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: at the end of the game to win it.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Matt and Wichita, can we make a storyline out of
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: nothing by noticing that Rabels seemed to give a little
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: extra love to Demario Davis. The report out in New
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: Orleans is that they are interested in trading Vets. He
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: meets the definition in linebackers seem to be a position
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: of need.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: Yeah, now that's a team you know.
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: I know someone you know about the running backs and
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: they mentioned Camara, like New Orleans is a team that
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: I could absolutely see being in that market.
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: You know, come come Halloween.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: You know that the trade deadlines usually I think it's
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: between week eight and nine, somewhere in that maybe November
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: first era area. That one yet to Mario Davis. You know,
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: he's a good player. It's been a good player for
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: a long time. Absolutely, I'd be interested in, as Mike says,
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: I'd be interested in upgrading the team and in any
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: way that I feel we could.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Josh is on the line. He's from Missouri. Hey Josh, Hey,
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: what's up?
- 1:30:40Speaker 9: Brother? Hey? I just wanted to say, man, how does
- 1:30:45Speaker 9: it feel to have a number one receiver again? I
- 1:30:49Speaker 9: know we haven't had a receiver with back to back
- 1:30:52Speaker 9: one hundred yard games since Julian Edelman. So that felt
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: pretty good, and I wanted to see how you guys
- 1:30:58Speaker 9: felt about being above that red line right now, going
- 1:31:02Speaker 9: the playoffs right now, and that feels great.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, yes, your first point, and thanks
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: for the call, Josh. The luxury of having that wide
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: receiver one, it's it is a good thing. It's it.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: It's a relief to know that, Okay, if nothing else,
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: you've got this playmaker in your wide receiver room that
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: you know, hopefully you can count on every game. It's
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: a it's a big not every team has it. I
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: mean there are a lot of good wide receivers in
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: the league, but I would say, what maybe little over
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: half the teams have one.
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: Top flight receivers. I mean I have to go back
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: and look, but yeah, I mean there are good wide
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: receivers in that league. Yeah, I mean kind of everybody
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: has one.
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: You think.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: I mean we haven't, that's for sure.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: I mean I'm not necessarily saying every single team, but yeah,
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: I mean yeah, I mean you have a guy that
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: that you would say, oh, he's our number one.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: So with a few except very few exceptions, I would
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: I would think. But I think he's been really good.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: I think he's been better than like this past week,
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: certainly better than I was expecting. I didn't think there
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: was that kind of yards after the catch and that
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: kind of explosiveness with the ball in his hands. He
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: made a lot of guys missing that game. I wasn't
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: expecting those kinds of plays. In terms of the volume,
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: I did expect that. I thought he would catch, you know,
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: somewhere between you know, five and eight passes a game,
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: be around one thousand yards at the end of the year,
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: average under ten yards to catch. Last game, this pass game,
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: it was a lot better than that. You know, one
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: hundred and forty yards and you know, play after play
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: fourteen plus yards to catch. I don't know if you
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: can rely on that every week. You know, that's not
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: really realistic. But the one game when you needed him,
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: he absolutely delivered.
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: Artist in Saint Louis wants to earn a T shirt,
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: so he has a trivia game. He says, for the
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Mammoth of Memory, mister Paul Perrillo, Let's see if you
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: can get four out of six correct, he says. In
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six, Droup ledso led the Patriots to an
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: eleven and five season and their second Super Bowl appearance.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Who did the Patriots beat in the AFC Championship Game
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: and what was the final score?
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: Well, that's easy, Jacksonville twenty to.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: You got it?
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: Tom Brady threw a combined six hundred and fourteen regular
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: and postseason touchdown passes during his twenty seasons with the
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: New England Patriots. Can you name the players who caught
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: his very first and very last touchdown pass?
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: No, I can tell you.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: Terry Glenn was the first. YEP, I could not tell
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: you the last, but his last touchdown pass as a
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: pro or with the Patriots.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: I'm trying to.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: Ask, I'm gonna guess somebody with the Patriots all I'm
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: just gonna I'm gonna guess Edelman.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: That's correct. That was a guest Glenn and one against
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: the Chargers. Edelman in nineteen against the Dolphins.
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: I can still I can still see Terry Glenn later
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: two horizontally.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: What offensive lineman holds the record for the most starts
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: in a game with the New England Patriots, Bruce Armstrong.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: That's right. He started two hundred and twelve games and
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: that's three out of three. In twenty sixteen, Tom Brady
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: faced a four game suspension to start the season. When
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: Brady came back, he led the Patriots to a fourteen
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: and two season and their fifth Super Bowl title. Who
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: was the first team Brady and the Patriots played coming
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: off that suspension? And what was the final score?
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: I can tell you it's Cleveland, but I Cleveland's correct.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: I'll tell you the final score.
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: A lot of threes in the score thirty three to three. Oh,
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: thirty three to thirteen. Okay, so I'll give you three
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: and a half, all right. In the infamous twenty eight
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: three Super Bowl fifty one comeback, Tom Brady led the
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: Patriots on a seventy five yard thirteen play drive that
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: ended in their first touchdown in the third quarter, which
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: would start the Patriots comeback. Who was the player to
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: catch that touchdown pass?
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: James White?
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: That's right, five yard pass, four and a half. Tom
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: Brady played a franchise record twenty seasons with the Newican Patriots.
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: There are three players tied for second most with sixteen seasons.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: Can you name those three players?
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: Three players that played sixteen seasons for the Patriots? Yep,
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: Steve Grogan that's one, Julius Adam two, Stanley.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Morgan ooh, Matthew Slater.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Oh, I should have gotten Slater. But that's typical of me.
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: Forget the guy who just played, and remember the guys
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: that played fifty years ago.
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: But you wanted four out of six. He got four
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: and a half, so too bad. No T shirt, Curtis.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: I think I should get two thirds for the last one.
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: I got two out of the three.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: That's true, so closer to five than four. So sorry, Churs,
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: you don't get a shirt.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: You're not going to give him a T shirt.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: Give my T shirt up to Alex and Matt if
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: they want to give him a T shirt, they can
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: give a T shirt. Good job, Alex, pending availability, we'll
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: get morel on it. He's back on the phone and
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: in his truck. It's Eldred in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred? Hey,
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: that's all y'all doing? All right?
- 1:36:25Speaker 22: Yes, Sorr, I hit the button instead of hitting the
- 1:36:26Speaker 22: hitting a hitting the other thing.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: On my head stick so I could not toe.
- 1:36:30Speaker 22: Hey, the name of the game should be d free beefine.
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: He hated thigs revenge game.
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: That would work, You know, short, sweet, everybody knows exactly
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: what you're talking about that would that would have that
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: would have potential?
- 1:36:44Speaker 14: You think?
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: So?
- 1:36:45Speaker 22: Okay, Uh, they talking about half back serve somebody to
- 1:36:50Speaker 22: the practice squad? Do you know anything about just uh whatever?
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: Guy?
- 1:36:55Speaker 22: I think it's abn.
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Jay or the new running back on the Corbyn
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: something on the practice squad. He's got a little he's
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: got a little experience. He's been in the league. Not
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: really anything extensive though, but he's been. I think he's
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: been with three different teams. I think he played like
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: six games for the Giants or something like that.
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: Okay, I just wonder.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: Yeah, but.
- 1:37:23Speaker 22: I hope, like I said, I hope we get uh
- 1:37:25Speaker 22: a J.
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: A J.
- 1:37:26Speaker 12: Brown, Cause, like I said, anybody keeps talking about it,
- 1:37:30Speaker 12: but he won't out.
- 1:37:30Speaker 22: But I guess I haven't heard it yet though, right.
- 1:37:34Speaker 11: Especially No, I.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: Mean we we've heard about A. J. Brown tweeting and
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: whatnot after games. I just don't see the Eagles trading him.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: Like the Eagles are a Super Bowl contender. I don't
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: see them. Yeah, I don't see them trading.
- 1:37:48Speaker 22: I'm not getting used right, He's not getting used right.
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: Well, he gets he gets used plenty just.
- 1:37:52Speaker 20: Running running, But like like the game they should have beat.
- 1:37:56Speaker 22: They should have won that game. Sunday Herts just go
- 1:37:58Speaker 22: through him twice.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: He's a wild Yeah it was downfield, down that middle one.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: Yeah, downfield. Yeah, that would have won the game.
- 1:38:06Speaker 11: Yeah, all right, my people, all.
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: Right, thanks Eldred. I meant to as Eldred where his
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: name came from. That's a good name, Eldred. Yeah. You
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: don't hear a lot of people with the name Eldred,
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: but when you grow up an adult, like, it's a
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: proper name to be called Eldred. It's a very southern name, Eldred,
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: very southern name. Yeah.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: Well he's a Southern dude.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: Ivan's in California.
- 1:38:34Speaker 22: Hey, gentlemen, how you doing today?
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: Good, good, quick football thing.
- 1:38:39Speaker 22: But before I do that, I do want to give
- 1:38:40Speaker 22: you some flowers. I want to do as a Pats
- 1:38:43Speaker 22: fan and a little bit more than a casual one.
- 1:38:46Speaker 22: I like to geek out on all the different behind
- 1:38:48Speaker 22: the scenes and what you guys do, as far as
- 1:38:51Speaker 22: the interviews the coaches, the kind of the fun questions
- 1:38:54Speaker 22: you ask the players, get to see their personalities. I
- 1:38:57Speaker 22: think you don't do really a great job. So I
- 1:39:00Speaker 22: appreciate that.
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: Thank you that I'll pass it along.
- 1:39:03Speaker 22: And absolutely, and then as far as the football thing,
- 1:39:07Speaker 22: digs from me from where I stand, like the way
- 1:39:10Speaker 22: Digs is right now, a healthy Digs, which is honestly
- 1:39:14Speaker 22: a modern miracle. He's the number one. So for me,
- 1:39:18Speaker 22: I think we're still you know, we're still another draft
- 1:39:21Speaker 22: away in a free agent class of really building the
- 1:39:24Speaker 22: team the way we wanted to. So I want to
- 1:39:26Speaker 22: hold onto the assets unless you know, somebody blows us away.
- 1:39:30Speaker 22: I think we're just fine with I mean, he's talking
- 1:39:33Speaker 22: about AJ Brown. I just think what it's going to
- 1:39:35Speaker 22: cost to get him, we would be best serves to hold.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: On to it.
- 1:39:38Speaker 22: So I will, with that said, I will get off
- 1:39:42Speaker 22: line and go past.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: All right, thanks, Ivan, appreciate it. He's saying, stay pat.
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I would.
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: I mean, if you could get AJ Brown, I think
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: you have the makings of a very dangerous offense. But
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: I mean I'm not I'm not saying I would do
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: whatever it takes to get AJ Brown. I mean it
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: would be a little bit. It would cause me to
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: hesitate a little bit based on the fact that this
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: is a guy who was in the midst of a
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: Super Bowl run last year and was unhappy at times
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: and certainly is on the reigning Super Bowl champ who's
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: poised to make another run and seemingly unhappy again.
- 1:40:21Speaker 23: That would cause me to hesitate a little bit. Yep,
- 1:40:24Speaker 23: how would you feel about it, Freddy? I would agree,
- 1:40:27Speaker 23: I would agree, you know, I would hesitate.
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: Yeah, now, I would do it. I think he's young enough.
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: That you know, I wouldn't worry, like, well, I'm just
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: going to get him at the end of his career
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: and he's going to be you know, he could fall off.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: I think he's still in his prime. I mean, I
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: don't think it would cost that much. Yeah, I don't
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: think it would.
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: Cost you at first. I think you could probably get
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: him for a second.
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: But you know Ivan's point. You know, they're a free
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: agent class in the draft class away. You know, they
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: really need to there's still pieces that they need to
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: build here. And is that say, like that one of.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: The pieces that they need to build with. That's what
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: I'm saying, that he would be a piece, like it's
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: not a thirty four year old receiver.
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: So you have to sign him?
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: What's signed? Yeah, he's under contract. He's not unhappy with
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: his contract. He's unhappy with his role. Okay, he wants
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: the ball, so second round's worth it. I mean, for me,
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: maybe you couldn't get him for a second rounder. He
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: went for a first. I mean he went for first,
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: like with the when he went from Tennessee to Philadelphia.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: So I mean I think he's a little older now.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe's not worth as much.
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: Just a little bit exactly.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, Austin and Oklahoma rights in. I know
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: there's been talk of Drake getting the MVP if he
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: keeps playing like he's been, but I think an even
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: more likely scenario is Vrabel getting the second coach his
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: second Coach of the Year award. Do you think we
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: might actually have both the MVP and the Coach of
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: the Year. I mean, it's possible. So do you think
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: the Colts the Colts coach might be in the running too?
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: There's a million. Yes, you think of like your favorite
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield m v P four game winning drives, Yeah, no,
- 1:42:17Speaker 4: I four and one.
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: He should be considered four last second. So he did
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: what Drake may did four times?
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Yeah this year, yep.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: Like I am as excited about Drake may I will
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: go back to this.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: I'm the one that was very stubbornly saying I would
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: still take him over Jayden Daniels last year when he
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: hadn't really done a thing. I am enamored with the
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: skill set. But let's sort of watch him play a
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: little bit. He had he did it once. I am
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: very confident in Drake may But you know, m.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: VP of the league. Do you think he's been the
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: MVP of the league right now yet?
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: No?
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: Not yet, not yet.
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: But do you start do you start doing what you
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: did in second half on a weekly basis?
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: If he keeps playing the you know, if there's a
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: big if.
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: And I'm not criticizing.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: And the Patriots win, then he will be in the
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: in the running. But like you said, Mayfield, Now, think
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: about Mayfield. Though, as much as I love him, I
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: think he's the league's better with him in it. He
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: is streaky, So right now he's on a heater. Yeah,
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: and then let's see what happened.
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: You know who else is streaky?
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: Who's that break?
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: May Well?
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: I don't think he's.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: Right now he's on a heater.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think he's been around long enough
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: to be cult street.
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: No, I know, but we're two games removed from him
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: turning the ball over twice and in a game that
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: they lost to the Steelers. They had no business losing,
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: right So, and you know this brings me to a point.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: I mentioned this to you off the air, Like again,
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: the euphoria or what happens Sunday night is overwhelming all
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: of our thoughts about the game. Myself included I am
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: like I picked up the upset, the upset came through.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: I'm really excited about it. So just go to the
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: last drive and just how quickly and how small, like
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: the margin for error is so razor thin. The first
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: play gets blown up. They come in with immediate pressure.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: They're dragging Drake made of the ground, and as he's
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: falling down, he desperately just throws a pass to Diggs
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: for twelve yards. Evan said yesterday there was a guy
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: right there who actually had his back turned.
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: Let's just say he turns around and picks it off. Yeah,
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: you know what that play is.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: That's the play he made against Pittsburgh in a fourteen
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: to fourteen game on the game winning drive in the
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: fourth quarter when he's getting sacked and falling down and
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: desperately tries to flip it out. Only the Steeler guy
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: knocked it out of his hands when he tried to
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: do that, and it was a fumble. Right, That's how
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: small the margin is.
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: Like, you make more plays like the one he did
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: Sunday night, and you become an MVP candidate. You make
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: more plays like he did against Pittsburgh and you're streaky, right.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. You know it's a very
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: fine line.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: Yep. Hector Castellanos from Pennsylvania writes, and just want to
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: say I agree with you, Paul about what you said yesterday.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: We have to give props to New England and how
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: they beat the Bills, and not that the Bills lost
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: because they gave it away. When the Patriots played the Steelers,
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: that is a game where you lose because he gave
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: it away. The Patriots dominated that game but gave it
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: away due to turnovers.
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: I's I were Pittsburgh, I wouldn't be given. I wouldn't
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: be doing that either, ye, Like, I think there were
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: a lot of similarities with those two games from the
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: other I don't care about the other team.
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: I only care about my team.
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: That is not what happened in this game. The bill
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: Stadium was rocking. The fans were pumped, and the Patriots
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: came in and played a game where it was a
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: fight in the Bill's hometown. They made the Bills play
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: in a way they didn't want to give credit where
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: credit is due. I loved it, Paul, you were going
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: off about it, and stay pumped up.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: I give all the credits to the Patriots, Yes, but
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: the Bills did what the Patriots did against Pittsburgh, like
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: eleven penalties, three turnovers, like they've only themselves to blame
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: for losing, but the Patriots like like in other words,
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: I didn't take away all the credit for Pittsburgh for
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: forcing some of those turnovers, and I'm not taking the
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: credit away from the Patriots for making Buffalo play like that.
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: Like holding calls sometimes are the result of you being
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: better than the guy who's trying to block you, and
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: they get back to back holding calls on consecutive drives
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: in the first half of the game to set up
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: first and seventeen's.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: The Patriots did something to create that. Do you know
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: what I'm saying.
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: What I'm saying, I'm not taking the credit away from
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: the Patriots, and I'm also not taking the credit away
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: from Pittsburgh in week two oh three or whatever it was.
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: Yep, Bill and San Diego. I keep hearing that digs
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: past two games are the first consecutive one hundred plus
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: yard games by wide receivers in the settlement.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: I was waiting for someone to bring this.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: Lody had one hundred plus yards in the last game
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: of twenty four in the first game of this season.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: That is correct.
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: There are no games played between them, so those are
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: consecutive games. Is there a reason no one is mentioning this? Well,
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: kind of because it's the whole off season separating.
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it is different.
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: Look is the locker room?
- 1:47:07Speaker 22: What was the mood where the players friendly to that?
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: None of them look like Deavin Henry.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: Hey, Mike, what was it like in the locker.
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Room, Mike?
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: What was it like in the All right, Mike, what
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: was it like.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: You with the locker is?
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: He's still sweating. He's still sweating.
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: Now, he's a nice said, come on, a Freddy sweater
- 1:47:33Speaker 7: on today, little sweater jacket, cardigan.
- 1:47:36Speaker 8: Perhaps nice, thanks for noticing.
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: But he's you know, preaching, this is a good team
- 1:47:41Speaker 7: and we're going against and went right down the list
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: and yeah, they might be this is the record, but
- 1:47:46Speaker 7: you know, these are a good team and you know,
- 1:47:48Speaker 7: anybody can win any week, and preaching that message of
- 1:47:51Speaker 7: of you know, trying not to take these guys lightly
- 1:47:53Speaker 7: another chance.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: The crowd around them, huge, huge crowd, huge, huge crowd,
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: jostling and jostling fights. No, not not that happens folks
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: once in a.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: While, it does. No.
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: So far, it's been really complimentary from the media. You know,
- 1:48:06Speaker 7: me holding people's mics, others holding my mics, you know,
- 1:48:09Speaker 7: working as a team to get collaborative, collaborative.
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: It's nice to collaborating.
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:48:15Speaker 7: Uh, and you know, shout out Mac Hollins like it's
- 1:48:17Speaker 7: a little tough when the spillover comes next to like
- 1:48:19Speaker 7: their lockers and Matt Collins is very understanding kind of Mike.
- 1:48:23Speaker 8: Is like, you know, thanks Mac for Lennon, Oh, no problem,
- 1:48:25Speaker 8: you know.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: So he was very gracious about it.
- 1:48:27Speaker 22: Uh.
- 1:48:27Speaker 7: But the the other interview that was interesting was Treel Jennings,
- 1:48:30Speaker 7: who had a sizeable crowd around him and locker right
- 1:48:34Speaker 7: next to Antonio. Gibson talked about how they're they're really
- 1:48:36Speaker 7: close and that you know, Gibson kind of said, this
- 1:48:39Speaker 7: is your time now, so signs pointing at least in
- 1:48:41Speaker 7: the locker room, that Terrell Jennings is gonna get some
- 1:48:43Speaker 7: kind of opportunity.
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure exactly what that means.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: I think someone is because I can't imagine they're going
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: to go into a game with two running backs.
- 1:48:49Speaker 7: Yeah so he no, just a we haven't talked to
- 1:48:52Speaker 7: him much. I mean, he's a practice squad guy, so usually.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Which is Jennings return kicks?
- 1:48:56Speaker 7: Uh yeah, yeah, a little bit, he said, he's he said,
- 1:48:58Speaker 7: you know, it's a little bit like like on the
- 1:49:00Speaker 7: ball as well, So you know, seems excited for his
- 1:49:03Speaker 7: opportunity and has been making the most out of his
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: you know, behind the scenes development. Feels like he's really
- 1:49:08Speaker 7: grown over the last month. So I think that's that's
- 1:49:11Speaker 7: gonna be interesting one. And then Christian Z also was
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: the last guy we talked to, and you know, quiet,
- 1:49:16Speaker 7: I'm gonna shut down everybody, not it's not a time
- 1:49:21Speaker 7: to say, but uh but confident and you know, looking
- 1:49:23Speaker 7: at some of their explosive players and so our weekly.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: I on Evan, where and who was he talking about.
- 1:49:31Speaker 7: Marcus Jones and Marcus Jones Yeah, yeah, I saw him
- 1:49:34Speaker 7: talking March and I saw him booty and I also heard.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: Him like mentioned like and you just knew how to
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: get down on that way.
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: You know, I keep talking about getting down, which we've
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: talked about. Was you know, really heads up play there.
- 1:49:43Speaker 7: It's catch the ball on the sidelines and quickly get
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: down and keep the clock running.
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: So Evan was another very underrated play.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: Yeah, doing his digging with some of the There was
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: another shout out by Vrabel to Taylor Kyle's in his
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: OH today today, So Evan reaction and I didn't.
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: Realize it yet.
- 1:50:02Speaker 8: We'll have to check in with him.
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: Hopefully he's not you know, grousing about it or feeling bad.
- 1:50:06Speaker 7: But Tailor Kyles was in there. He was, you know,
- 1:50:08Speaker 7: asking questions, jumping in, asking scheme things.
- 1:50:10Speaker 8: Love that nature.
- 1:50:11Speaker 7: So he's flying high right now and he's getting ready
- 1:50:13Speaker 7: to get sapped up to the scouting department.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: The mood good, I mean, the energetic media crowd as
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: there always.
- 1:50:19Speaker 7: Is on Wednesday, it's always the busiest day. And like
- 1:50:22Speaker 7: I said, this Diggs has become a weekly occurrence. So
- 1:50:25Speaker 7: everybody goes right to him right off the top. And
- 1:50:28Speaker 7: you know when he's a good he's a good interview.
- 1:50:29Speaker 7: He doesn't some guys are I mean, I look at
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: good as some guys who give you one sentence that
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: tells you everything you need to hear and don't really
- 1:50:36Speaker 7: meander on into sending more and more.
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: And more from pr You think that's good, right, right.
- 1:50:40Speaker 7: But but Diggs, I think is a great balance of
- 1:50:43Speaker 7: he's not clipped with his answers, but he's also doesn't
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: get himself into telling stories.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: And now it's rainy out today, it's very inclement. Whether
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: ye was it muggy it was.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: It was actually was very stude observation of you to
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: the point where he's the city.
- 1:51:00Speaker 7: Our wonderful producer that I was in there with. She's like, man,
- 1:51:03Speaker 7: it's kind of hot in here right now. And she's
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: from Californa, And I said, wow, that's you know, my
- 1:51:06Speaker 7: wife's from California. Usually after October you don't hear her
- 1:51:09Speaker 7: say it's too hot anywhere.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: She's cold the whole time.
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: So but we did, we did comment it was a
- 1:51:14Speaker 7: little bit muggy. And now they're going out to the bubble,
- 1:51:16Speaker 7: so I look at a brief walk outside, cool down,
- 1:51:19Speaker 7: and then back in.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: Well, this will be the last year during the week
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: that you'll be conducting interviews in that locker room because
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: next year they'll have their new training facility with their
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: new state of the art custom.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: Locker room, so complicate things. The HVAC will be much
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: better in that new building.
- 1:51:39Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, no, it sounds sounds curious what that's all like.
- 1:51:42Speaker 7: But but yeah, I know, it's just kind of cool
- 1:51:45Speaker 7: seeing Drake. You know, like you have like these check
- 1:51:47Speaker 7: ins with him and you see him in the locker
- 1:51:49Speaker 7: room and he's just like an average dude you don't
- 1:51:51Speaker 7: really like thinking. You know, now he's coming off a
- 1:51:54Speaker 7: huge game and it's like, wow, right, this kid's but
- 1:51:56Speaker 7: he gets a moji.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: Obviously, he goes to the podium every week. Yeah, that's
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: his event ability. But do people approach him a little bit?
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, a little bit here and there. I mean
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: I see a lot and down like having and be.
- 1:52:06Speaker 7: Like, you know, I just got a quick question about
- 1:52:07Speaker 7: the cover two hole shot, you know, like those kind
- 1:52:09Speaker 7: of things. But he's always kind of got in year
- 1:52:12Speaker 7: out for the different conversations that are going on, and
- 1:52:15Speaker 7: you know he'll shut hey yeah, you know, chiming and stuff.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: Same thing with Will Campbell.
- 1:52:19Speaker 8: I noticed Will Campbell this is two weeks in a row.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: We've all been around Steph Diggs, were all clamped, you know,
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: really in tight.
- 1:52:25Speaker 8: And then you just see Will Campbell kind of walk over.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: Last week he was like, what's up, unk, and then
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: this week he just kind of.
- 1:52:30Speaker 7: Give We heard from him recently, Will Campbell, No, not really,
- 1:52:33Speaker 7: not really A couple of weeks ago.
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: A couple of weeks ago, I seemed to I mean,
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: I'm not in the locker room every day, so I
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: don't know a couple of weeks ago, but I seemed
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: like I felt like we've heard from him on a
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: regular basis.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: Why I think I came in, Uh, those guys have
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: been good.
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: The two kids have done a good you know, a
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: good enough job on that left side. That's that's very promising.
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, No, I really liked Will Campbell we heard
- 1:52:54Speaker 7: from I think it was week two that we last
- 1:52:57Speaker 7: talked to him in the locker room. Usually he's kind
- 1:52:59Speaker 7: of getting ready and get it now. I mean, Robert
- 1:53:00Speaker 7: Spleene's like walking out right as we're walking in. He's
- 1:53:03Speaker 7: an early practice guy. But now I Will Campbell's along
- 1:53:07Speaker 7: the lines of nice short cliped answers direct, like we
- 1:53:10Speaker 7: just got to go out there and do our job,
- 1:53:12Speaker 7: you know, like those kind of thing dominant.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: I want to dominate you bad so love it.
- 1:53:17Speaker 7: Good, good atmosphere, good mojo around the team right now,
- 1:53:20Speaker 7: and now you just got to keep it going down
- 1:53:22Speaker 7: there in New Orleans where he says, you said for
- 1:53:25Speaker 7: they lost two Super Bowls and won one super Bowl
- 1:53:27Speaker 7: down there in New Orleans.
- 1:53:28Speaker 8: A lot of Patriots history down there, and that's.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: I always think it'd be a cool thing for you
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: to do. Well, you're not going to be there, but
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: maybe for our.
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: Content team to do, like whether it was Saturday or
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: Sunday morning, like early, go out on that field and
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: stand at the spots where all these great plays happened
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: for us in that place. You know where vinetary kick,
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: where ty Law had the interception, where Patton's touchdown, Yeah,
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: where McGinnis had a sack or you know.
- 1:53:55Speaker 8: All those something did he do anything in that anything special?
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: Through two touchdown passes in the first quarter to give
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: them the league? But that game did not end well, right, just.
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: Pretending yeah, we're not going to talk about ninety six
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: And this was where we kicked that experience against the
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: Bay of to day when we were talking about some
- 1:54:12Speaker 7: of this stuff, was like, oh yeah, like one in two, like.
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, not great, Yeah, not great. I mean
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: the rest of the league should have our problems. We're
- 1:54:23Speaker 4: only one in two in super Bowls that.
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: Were playing at one play, right, right, We've had so many.
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: It was random, though, to go to three super Bowls,
- 1:54:30Speaker 7: I mean, nineteen eighty five, nineteen ninety six, two thousand
- 1:54:33Speaker 7: and one with onlike whatever. That is like a sixteen
- 1:54:35Speaker 7: year period, and all three of the super Bowls we
- 1:54:36Speaker 7: went to just happened. And I know back then it
- 1:54:39Speaker 7: was only like what.
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: Three spots, Well, New Orleans was a regular rotation.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah and now yeah. So also, I would say
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: that that venue is the site of the greatest super
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: Bowl halftime event ever, which was you two oh yeah
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: sure in two thousand and one.
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: I don't think anything's come close since, uh, and nothing
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: was even close before that. Despite what every anybody has
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: to say about Katie Perry or anything else, that was
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: the greatest halftime super Bowl act.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: And it's a yeah that that that kind of country unity.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: Tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: I just think it's an asterisk. Well, I think might
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: do so when the Whalers could have played based on
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: the no no no, but based on where the country was.
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: You know, like the way it was presented and opening
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: up the and having the flag. It was just yes,
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: the circumstances, but that always that's part of it.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I just thought that it had It's just a
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: it's a personal thing. I get what Fred's saying, and
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: I know you two is a popular but I don't
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: like you too. So like but with the whole ceremony,
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: the whole but production through the roof, unbelievable, the banners
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: when they came down with the name victims, names like
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: it was unbelievably powerful. I wouldn't ever say anything other
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: than what Fred just said, I just you two is
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: not my thing.
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: And then you know, like Whitney Houston when she sang
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: a Star Spangled band, like, what were the circumstances was there?
- 1:56:07Speaker 22: Yeah?
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: I mean again, circumstances made it. You felt more patriotic
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: at that moment. But like her present day, like unmatched,
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: nothing's come close.
- 1:56:17Speaker 4: I don't think it's a tremendous rendition.
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: I mean not many of those stand out in memory.
- 1:56:22Speaker 4: I mean, she could blow it is funny that I
- 1:56:25Speaker 4: can't believe you just said that. It is sort of.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: I guess it's a great coincidence that you haven't mean
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: as much as I don't really care for you two,
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: you two is an iconic band, and you know, Whitney Houston.
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: I mean, there are a few people on the planet
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: who have ever sung that song the way she can,
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: you know, or could rest in peace that they were
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: lined up for that.
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: I don't know if.
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: Like how when that all like the timing of all
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: that stuff came down, but you had iconic people for
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: a very specific time in the country, you know, yeah,
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: like it would have would it have been less if
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: it was like some kind of no name singing the
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: national anthem.
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: That was like a why by Night?
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:57:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean she, yeah, She's just special the way
- 1:57:13Speaker 7: she could crush it, And I mean, I don't know, it.
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: Was just the whole thing. It just felt like the atmosphere,
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: you know, and like same thing with two thousand and one.
