- 0:17Speaker 2: Murray Old Zossie correspondence with us Hamer's Good afternoon. Do
- 0:21Speaker 2: you Heather, explain to me, mate, how it is that
- 0:23Speaker 2: they tell the family that she's alive but she's actually not.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, terrible, isn't it. We don't know the
- 0:29Speaker 3: exact sequence. The body was found of a young woman
- 0:34Speaker 3: hasn't even been positively identified at this point of the afternoon.
- 0:37Speaker 3: But a body was found late morning, we're told around
- 0:42Speaker 3: eleven o'clock. Now, the premiere of New South Wales, Chris
- 0:46Speaker 3: Men's was in the parliamentary hearing and he broke he
- 0:49Speaker 3: must have. He's got a note from someone in authority
- 0:52Speaker 3: to say this little girl's been found alive, eighteen years old,
- 0:55Speaker 3: a very experienced bush walker, life and soul of every
- 0:59Speaker 3: party apparently, and a lovely young woman. And she went
- 1:03Speaker 3: missing Wednesday last week. So Chris Men's has been given
- 1:07Speaker 3: a note tells parliamentary committee, yes, in fact, that you
- 1:11Speaker 3: know she has been found alive, and in fact he
- 1:14Speaker 3: comes back a moment later to say, well, in fact, no,
- 1:16Speaker 3: she hasn't, and that news is ricocheted around newsrooms across
- 1:20Speaker 3: the country, and the follow ups has been devastating for
- 1:24Speaker 3: the family, for everybody involved. And how on earth that
- 1:27Speaker 3: mistake could have been made in the first place is
- 1:29Speaker 3: beyond me. But I'm not there, and she's been out
- 1:32Speaker 3: there a fair old while it's been a very tough country.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Perhaps she's out a four. We just don't know the
- 1:36Speaker 3: exact circumstances, Heather, but sufficed to say the family is shot.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I would imagine. So, Hey, what's going on with
- 1:42Speaker 2: the unemployment not looking good?
- 1:44Speaker 3: Our trending up? It's only a tiny amount, up from
- 1:48Speaker 3: four point four to four point five in the month
- 1:51Speaker 3: of July. The number of employed people went backwards by
- 1:57Speaker 3: about sixteen thousand, a big fall and part time employment,
- 2:01Speaker 3: and so it's a very small increase, but it's not insignificant,
- 2:06Speaker 3: if I can put it that way. It hasn't been
- 2:07Speaker 3: this high in trend terms since the COVID era, and
- 2:12Speaker 3: economists are saying, well, you know what this means for
- 2:14Speaker 3: interest rates? Charts are we had? Inflation easing is perhaps
- 2:20Speaker 3: easing even too strong a word, but the last inflation
- 2:23Speaker 3: figure was softer than they were fearing unemployment ticking up
- 2:28Speaker 3: and the housing market over here certainly cooling. And you've
- 2:33Speaker 3: got you know, speculation now the next move in interest
- 2:36Speaker 3: rates could be down, if not static, until the end
- 2:39Speaker 3: of the year, maybe down before Christmas, but certainly perhaps
- 2:42Speaker 3: next year, early in the new year. So look, it's
- 2:45Speaker 3: a mixed bag. I'm not an economist, but that's what
- 2:49Speaker 3: they're saying. All the signs now pointing to a cooling
- 2:51Speaker 3: economy and interest rates to head south before they go
- 2:56Speaker 3: north again.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So mars is Isaac Heeney, the Sydney Swans player who
- 3:00Speaker 2: did the touching that he wasn't supposed to be doing
- 3:02Speaker 2: in that hotel room.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Well, we're not sure at this point because Victorian police
- 3:06Speaker 3: haven't told us very very much at all. It's all
- 3:10Speaker 3: the whole story is now being based around leaks two
- 3:14Speaker 3: selected media outlets, mainly down in Melbourne because of course,
- 3:18Speaker 3: as you would know, like rugby in New Zealand AFL,
- 3:21Speaker 3: Australian football in Melbourne is just absolutely everywhere. They'll have
- 3:25Speaker 3: twenty thirty pages in the paper on the weekend about
- 3:28Speaker 3: Ozzie Rull's football. So it is an enormous story. It's
- 3:32Speaker 3: a religion down there, and look the basic facts that
- 3:35Speaker 3: we know. The Swans were there on Sunday night. They
- 3:38Speaker 3: were in the hotel room about four o'clock. They've come
- 3:42Speaker 3: back from a night out on the drink and for dinner,
- 3:45Speaker 3: and one of the players is the arrange we understand
- 3:47Speaker 3: is the allegation for lap dancers to come back to
- 3:50Speaker 3: the room. Next thing that they know. Apparently one of
- 3:53Speaker 3: these women, depending on which report you hear, either unclothed
- 3:57Speaker 3: or clothed, has found herself down in the lobby complaining
- 4:01Speaker 3: that now where's the quote here? Complaining that and understanding
- 4:06Speaker 3: of what was off limits with the players had been breached.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So what's happened next? Well, police have called obviously the
- 4:13Speaker 3: club has stood down the five players with expressions of
- 4:18Speaker 3: contrition and sympathy and so on for the young woman.
- 4:21Speaker 3: The governor general, would you believe Sam Moston, who's a
- 4:25Speaker 3: female governor General? Samantha sam Moston says she's shocked, in
- 4:28Speaker 3: troubled by the alleged sexual assault. She says the lack
- 4:32Speaker 3: of respect for women right across the country is a
- 4:34Speaker 3: real problem, especially in sport. Look at the domestic violence rates.
- 4:38Speaker 3: A woman a week is dying over here in terms
- 4:42Speaker 3: of intimate partners. It's a pretty rare intervention for the
- 4:47Speaker 3: head of state to come into this. But look, the
- 4:50Speaker 3: long the short of it is, the Swans were second
- 4:52Speaker 3: on the ladder heading into the final series and their
- 4:55Speaker 3: chances now of winning the title this year have come
- 4:59Speaker 3: a cropper. Look, it's terrible. It's terrible for this young
- 5:02Speaker 3: woman who's involved. It's terrible for the club, for all
- 5:05Speaker 3: the fans. And I'll tell you what, if you're a
- 5:08Speaker 3: beamate of one of these five players who's been stood down,
- 5:11Speaker 3: You're going to be pretty dark on them, Mun't you?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Aren't you?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Jan?
- 5:13Speaker 2: What about if you want of the film says mm hmmm, murray,
- 5:16Speaker 2: Thank you very much, Mary Olds Ozzie corresponding.
