- 0:18SPEAKER_01: It just feels better doing this on weeks when you've just won another container now.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: It just feels better.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Go.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Mike Wade, my co-host over there.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Mike White, what's up, dude?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: How you living?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Happy Wednesday.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Happy Wednesday.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: I'm running high for so many reasons, man.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Tell the people.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Tell the people what we're what we're bragging on.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Oh man, another week, another Mike Blitz hit.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: At this point, I just come to expect it.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Um, Mike, Mike White and I hit our seven-leg parlay over the week.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: This is the second time in four weeks.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, we cleaned up was$10 bet, won us$1,300.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, I did the math.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: So no, lots we've we've done this a seven-leg parlay-ish once uh every week for the last four weeks.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: To hit a one in 150 shot twice in four weeks, you're looking at about one in 20,000 odds.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: So the fact that we did that just the accomplishment of a lifetime.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: We might not, it might be years before we hit another mic.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: We do let's just face the statistical anomaly.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Let's say that.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Um, but totally we're on that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: You and I are on the heater.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: We are on the absolute heater.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: If you're not tailing the mic blitz at this point, uh, that's just that's just your problem.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're just a problem in Vegas.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we we are a problem.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: They've got asterisk buyer name, cold hard cash into your pocket.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: So and we'll obviously hit you with the we'll hit you with another week five, another another heater today at the end of the podcast.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Make sure you're listening all the way to the end to get that.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, before we do that, let's do a quick check-in.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: How you been the last week since last week we talked?
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: Man, um, had some ups and downs, tough times with with toddlers at home, but yeah, everything feels right coming off a bama loss evolves win.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Just you you beat you win the third Saturday in October, and everything's just okay.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: You know, everything's great, everything's peachy.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be good for like two weeks.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a that's a that's a high, that's a win you can ride on the high for a look.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Did you um did you light the cigar?
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Anybody did you have any cigars?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Those of you who don't know, the go ahead, Alan.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: Oh no, I was gonna say, so I bought one.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: Uh, I hadn't, you know, given the times of of the rivalry, I hadn't partaken in a while.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Um, two years ago we beat him.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: I lit one up, bought one again last year, didn't get a chance to light it up.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: So I I smoked a year-old cigar.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: It's pretty dry, not that great, but um in terms of the moment, it was so sweet.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Those of you who don't know what we're talking about, the Tennessee Alabama game is called the third Saturday in October.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: That's when it's played every year, T Sio.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: The winner of this game has lit up a round of cigars and that's gone back, I don't know, 60 years, 70 years, Mike?
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Who are we talking?
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Who knows?
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: As long as I I mean, as long as I'm aware of yeah, a tradition older than Mike and I.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: So classic.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: So if you are a Tennessee fan and Alabama fan and you beat that rival on that week, you get yourself a cigar, you light it up, and you take it a moment, you celebrate.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: So, congratulations to you.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Um, this is their second win in three years.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: There was a long break before that.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: So it sounds like the tables have turned on that rivalry, which just rules so much.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: That's just really, really great.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Um, things over here, what can I say?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, went to Trimont this past weekend.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: That's actually where Mike and I met.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Those you don't know.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: We had um an alumni weekend up there.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Trimont was beautiful, the foliage, cold weather, guys were rocking out with guitars and gals, excuse me.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Um, some folks brought some real nice bottles of bourbon.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: So we were kind of sitting around doing that whole thing.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Um, it was a Shrymont full force fall weekend.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I am jealous of that.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I'm sad I missed that.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: No, you were missed, man.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: It was a lot of uh your and my favorite people for sure.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: We had an absolute blast.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Hawks put on a great show.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, that was great.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Um, it was nice to text you a little bit knowing you were there with like our people and like just celebrating the the college football madness, the the parlay win.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Like I could just picture you on the porch with robbery, like it just made me happy.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: It was vibe was really high.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I will say coming back was not so great.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: I got home on Sunday and my wife immediately left for a work trip.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: So I've been alone with the kids for the last 72 hours.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Right back into it, right back into it.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: We're feet in the fire.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Felt like uh a little bit of survival mode, but she comes back tonight, so all is well.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I can I can focus my energy on the week nine at college football slate, which we have so much to talk about.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Um, so let's go do that.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: But I'm also riding high on the Arkansas road win.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Never, never, never take advantage.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Take for granted an SEC road win.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: You and I both know that.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: So and I was very I was I was nervous for you guys in that one.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: If we if you remember our pod last week, you know, I was kind of teeter-tottering, I wasn't feeling confident about it.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: You kind of swayed me.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: I went all in on the Tigers and it paid off, literally.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it absolutely did.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: And honestly, the game was never closed, but we'll we'll we'll get about that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: So before we talk about that, obviously we want to do our kind of week eight uh kind of look back, see what happened on the things, um, uh, and kind of talk about that, and then we'll jump into the following week.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Mike, it is hot seat coaching season.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, we are seeing coaches, everyone are starting to think about the future.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Some teams are trending way down.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Um, so we're seeing some coaches have already have already been handed their pink slips.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, Mike Houston, ECU, first coach fired.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Will Hall, the second one is Southern Miss.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Don't really have a take about either of those programs, but there are more coming.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Mike, hypothetical question for you.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Have you ever has there ever been a coach to you that you said he got fired too soon?
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: He I really had a hard time with this question.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Has there ever been a coach where you were like, no, they pulled the rug out too early and if given more time, could have turned it around?
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, actually, um, I think Justin Fuente, um, a little bit.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, going back to, you know, actually, I just pulled him up.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: He had five years, but so never mind.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: The only one that I can kind of think of was Dan Mullen.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: I think he's a really good at Florida, you know.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: I think that I think he wasn't recruiting very high level, but he's such a good X's and O's guy.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and the coaches they've had since, um, I think was Boom after him.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: There's a gentleman who went to central who went to Central Michigan, wasn't super high on Napier seems like Dead Man Walking, which we'll talk about that in a minute.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I kind of high on Mullen, but for the most part, you know, we talk about these crazy firings and these crazy buyouts.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: I feel like kind of they generally get them right.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Like I feel like most schools, yeah, most schools send to tend to know if they haven't had their guys, but be on the lookout for that.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, big name programs are going to be replacing their head honchos this year.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Happens every year.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Uh, what happens to the Big 12 shifting gears?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: What happens is the Big 12 getting um an at-large bid.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: So obviously, at one point three weeks ago, we were talking about Texas as a I mean, Big 12 is a one-bid league.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: There's two undefeated teams in Iowa State and BYU, and K-State, who I think is still the best team in the league, is just sitting there, one loss.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Uh do you see Big 12 as a possible two-bid league?
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: And if so, who's your hypothetical team that could do it?
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this is really interesting because although you look at the strength of the conference compared to the relative strength of some of the other conferences, you know, SEC potentially, the Big Ten potentially getting four teams in each, something like that.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: And you look at the Big 12 and you say, Yeah, absolutely, there shouldn't be an at-large.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: But there's still the potential of someone going undefeated throughout the regular season and coming in and only losing the conference championship game.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: So you got an at-large potentially with one loss only in the conference championship game versus a maybe two, maybe even three loss SEC team.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: So it'll be interesting to see how that um affects the committee's decision.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: You know, if you see BYU with one loss at the end of the season and it's in the conference championship, like I don't know what they're gonna do with that.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: So there's a lot of questions on how that plays out.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: I kind of think K-State's still still a team to weed.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: I think they think that the team that will win the conference, and I and I prepicked them in our kind of Mike Blitz 12-pack 1.0.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: I think there's a chance that either Iowa State or BYU go undefeated.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: They get to the Big 12 championship, they lose to K-State and they're sitting there at 12 and one.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I think that I think you're looking at an at-large.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: That's kind of what I think it's gonna be.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: I still think K-State is the most dangerous team and for my money gonna win.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: But I think if you're looking at if you're sitting at 12 and one, Big 12 runner-up, I think you might be looking at a uh at-large bid.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, speaking of the Big 12, Kyle Wittingham, oh, Utah head coach, uh, they lost again, kind of ugly.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: I think it's like a 13-7 type game this past week.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Cam rising is now being talked about for an eighth year.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: If you're the head coach of Utah, whether you're Kyle Winningham or maybe he retires and somebody else, if you're the head coach of Utah going 2025, do you even want Cam Rise?
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: We like Cam Rising.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: We're Cam Rising fans in this podcast.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Do you even want him back?
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Or are you ready to turn the page and move on?
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I think from a football standpoint, you might be saying, you know, we need to plug some other guys in there.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: From a relationship standpoint, that's a really tough thing to do.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, this is a kid who you've you've been working with, coaching, you know, mentoring for a long, long time now.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: But I think it would probably be good for him too to get a change of scenery, you know, maybe plug into um another program and the transfer portal.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I think I don't think he comes back.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: I don't think it, I don't think it matters, but um it's interesting to think about.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's time to part ways.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: It doesn't help that Isaac Wilson, the current quarterback, is not good.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Um, he's not he's has really been underwhelming.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: But I just here's the thing for me is like, if you're like, okay, we're putting our eggs in the basket, camerizing, we're not gonna do the transfer portal, we're not gonna try and coach up Isaac Wilson as as you're giving the QB1 reps.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: If he doesn't, if he can't move again, if his knees or leg or ACL or whatever it is that he's dealing with, if he's not back again, how can you look your donors, your alumni, your administration in the face and say, you bet on him for a third year and he's still not playing?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Like the risk reward of that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: And that's not that doesn't even that assumes that Cam rising comes back and can play.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: And at this point, the one spot we saw him play, and he looked absolutely abysmal through a bunch of picks, just wouldn't look like Cam rising of old.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Like, there's no giving he's even gonna do that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: I'm with you.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: I think it's time to move on.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Go get somebody the G5 level in the portal, see what you got with Wilson, try and coach him up a little bit.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I I hate to say it for Cam.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: I hope he transfers and plays somewhere else and does well, probably at the G5 level, you know.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm I'm I'm pulling for him, but I think it's probably best for both parties if uh Utah turns the page and moves on.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Yep uh hot take, Mike.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: I got a hot take.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Um give it to me.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and honestly, it's a hot take because it kind of directly conflicts with one of your, I think, stronger college football opinions.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: The expanded playoff and maybe realignment has made the regular season even more electric than we could have imagined.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: We all thought, and I think this is your opinion that you know, and I think it's a good one, it's reasonably sound.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: I think I kind of subscribe to it, was that expanding to 12 would cheapen the regular season.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: I don't think we've seen that at all.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Give me what you got.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: No, I am um I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Uh, I don't think any of us knew how this is gonna play out.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: We still don't.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: We still don't know.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: It's year one of the it's year one, yeah, what the ramifications are gonna be, how this will affect the end of the season.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: But so far, it's been awesome.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Um, the one thing I I will say about it is, you know, it's the the the playoff bubble talk, I mean, it is largely gonna play itself out on the field.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: So we don't need to have conversations about who's in and who's out in week two, three, four, five.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Like that is gonna get old at some point, and maybe maybe the media gets tired of that and backs off that a little bit in years you know two and three or whatever.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I mean, it's been awesome.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: It's been awesome for college football.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: It's been awesome for the conversations, it's been awesome for some of these teams in like the 15 to 20, 25 range.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Um, it's still anybody's game, and it's really fun.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: It's fun, yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: I was wrong last year when I when I was predicting doom and gloom.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: It's been great so far.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and let's be fair, you still could be right.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: This may maybe, maybe the year two, three, and four hangover starts to change and folks start to kind of play down.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: But you know, so far it's been absolutely and realignments helped a lot too.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: You know, Oregon, Ohio State, banger, Georgia, Texas, banger.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: And those were conference games, those were big two conference games that real stakes in the line, um, which were just and honestly, I think we're all expecting to see Georgia and Texas andor Texas in the playoff.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Um, Oregon and Ohio State again, probably in the playoffs and doesn't matter.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Those games were straight heaters, like college foot at its best.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: And nobody's really dead in the water at this point, even with you know, one loss, two losses.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: There's still a lot of teams vying for a spot there and a lot of big games down the road.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: So there's still a lot of excitement to be had.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: A lot, uh one thing too, it's it's not just the the introduction of the playoff, it's not just the introduction of um the new the the conference realignment with Nil, all the players moving.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: There's more parity across the board.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: You've got teams coming out of nowhere, your Indiana's, your Illinois, your armies, your navies.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Like it's a bonkers year, and it's been great for the sport.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: Just, I mean, it's it's all these ingredients have made for complete chaos.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: And it's awesome.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: There's not we we would be we would be looking at this completely different if this were three years ago and we had two, you know, two, three, four teams that were completely dominant and everybody else looked bad, and we were like, we would be saying, why are we gonna be why are we gonna put you know this group of teams in in a playoff when they don't deserve to be there?
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: And that's not the case this year at all.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, wholeheartedly agree.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Uh, hot take number two, and this you're you're gonna have a hard time pushing back on this one.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: So I don't even know it's really a hot take.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: This is the best year for running back names in the history of college football.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Let me give you some examples.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Turbo Richard, Boston College.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Cam Scataboo.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: That's a guy I made on yeah, that's a guy made in like a oh create your own player, EA Sports.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: Turbo Richard, Boston College, skin Cam Scatabo, Arizona State, Donta Wack, UMass, Fluff Bothwell, South Alabama.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: Those are four of the greatest running back names I've ever seen.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Aaron.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: A Aaron.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: And I've never seen anything like it.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: So I think this that's that's that's that's not even mentioning guys like King Large, offensive tackle for SMU, and so many other just absolute gems out there.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I just want to put that on your radar.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: We got four outstanding names in the backfield in college football, 2024.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: Um I I got a question for you.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: So, you know, defensive backs like to celebrate and make when they make plays, they get excited.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and they oftentimes, you know, high five, jump on the pound, give the half, do all the things, you know, kind of uh strut for the audience.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: The new thing they're doing is they're doing this uh kind of hand motion, like so.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm talking about?
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: They do this thing.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a lockdown.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: It's a seatbelt.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: Well, I I got a question for you.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Is it is it a seatbelt or is it somebody sheathing a sword?
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: No, it's a lot, it's like a lockdown, like you're your guarded like seatbelt situation.
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: You're in like a you're in a seat.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: You're locked in, yeah.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: You're you're not not to be thrown to.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be honest with you, this whole time I thought it was somebody sheathing a sword, which I also think is kind of cool.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know, maybe you just got like dice up.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like somebody like putting the putting the um see us on uh on your screen.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: I didn't know it was a seatbelting until somebody pointed out to me on Twitter that's what they were doing.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: This whole time I kind of thought it was somebody like putting a sword away, which I also think is pretty cool.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: You know, just somebody has like a sword, somebody like a ninja back there defending them, and he's just like, I'm done with my mystery.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: What do you think of the Cam Ward?
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what that is.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Wave thing.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've seen it, but I don't know.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: He puts his hand over his face and he waves.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'm not paying attention to you, and you're saying goodbye.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I can't I can't see you.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Like then, you know, we all know about like John Cena, you can't see me.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Is it I can't see you?
- 17:04SPEAKER_02: I thought I kind of like that players are embracing some of the silliness and not trying to be so hard all the time.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: So I mean I also love that we're middle-aged men and don't really understand any of it.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: I also feel good about that as well.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: We're we're not we're we're in a different phase of our lives at this point.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Can we just get back to the uh yeah, back to back to basics?
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Uh 23 Army, 24 Navy, 25 Vandy.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Those are the AP rankings of Vanderbilt, Army, and Navy as we speak today, as you listen to this podcast.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Will we ever see those collections, that trio in the AP Top 25 ever again?
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: True or false?
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Um false.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we will not.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: If you plugged in Swane and uh if you plugged in Swanee and who else?
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: Um maybe Citadel.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: Citadel and Stanford, you would have like the 1930s like top teams.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Yale.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: 1950s, Princeton, Ruckers.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: Ruckers uh with the birthplace college football.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Um, it's just unbelievable.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, don't get me wrong, I love what Diego Pavia is doing.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Um uh Vanderbilt, uh Vanderbilt is peaking.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, this is this, I think they are better than the um James Franklin Vanderbilt teams, frankly.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Um, no pun intended.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: And obviously, Army Navy, RV and Navy both laden with seniors, uh, with two awesome quarterbacks leading the leading their charge.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Um, very, very impressive for all.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Navy's got a doozy with uh Notre Dame this week, but go ahead.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: So, speaking of that, I've got a great uh fun fact for you.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: So, Army throws it eight times a game, has more touchdown passes than all three Michigan quarterbacks combined.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Their quarterback, Bryson Daly, has more rushing touchdowns at 19 than Michigan's offense, defense, and special teams combined.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I love that about it.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: I love that for Army, and I love that for college football that we all get to enjoy that.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: Uh Bryson Daly is awesome.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: And uh Navy's got Kyle Horbath as well.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: All three teams have quarterbacks that are worth watching for all different reasons.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: Bryson Daly, Kyle Horbath, and Diego Pavia.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: All do we should be talking about Bryson Daly in the Heisman conversation right now.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: He should be there.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: We should, but it probably like probably like Army players of your, he has to go beat Notre Dame to get it.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think you're right, but I think he can't.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: I don't think Army can I don't think an army quarterback can win the Heisman unless they go third.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: He's leading, he's leading the nation in rushing touchdowns.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: So he just he got five last week.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: So he just passed Ash Genty and and uh and uh Dylan Sampson, um, who are right there neck and neck.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: So he's leading leading the country in rushing touchdowns and an undefeated our top 25 army team.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: He should be there.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about him.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: All right, okay.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Should he win it?
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not there yet.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Should he be invited to New York?
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Should he get a ticket?
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: It's just down the road.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, he's gotta close that.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's gotta close it out.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: He's gotta put up another, you know, 20 touchdowns.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and obviously, you know, uh West Point is just just in the road from Manhattan, so just hop in the car and drive down.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: He's local.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: For a guy like him, you have to you can't you have to like break down the door.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: You can't have similar numbers, you have to have uh like unignorable.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Although I think numbers, although I kind of think the American the AAC, which is what they play in, I kind of think it's the fifth best conference in the country.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the Pac-12 doesn't exist anymore.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: I think it's better than Mountain West top to bottom.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: And obviously, it's not Sunbelt, CUSA, and Mac just like aren't they aren't even close.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's not that bad.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, coming off of at least a drop-off from the Big 12 to the AAC, in my opinion.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Moving on.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, Blue Bloods, down bad.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Michigan, Oklahoma, USC all might miss a bowl this year.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: These are iconic college football defining programs that are all reeling.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: That's it, it doesn't even mention Florida State, that's one and six.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Obviously, they're not going bowling, uh, or Florida or Auburn, which are uh you know different because they didn't have preseason expectations.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Of those three blue bloods, and we're talking, let's focus for this exercise on Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Who has it the worst?
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Like, if you're a fan of the one of those three teams, which one are you the most miserable about?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: And which one are you the least worried about?
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Like, they'll be back next year or the year after.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: Like, this sucks, but they're gonna they're gonna be all right.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Give me the best.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's tough.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: I think um Oklahoma is in probably the worst of the tail spins.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: Okay, they bailed on their five-star, you know, next second coming quarterback.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: They're now going back to him, which we'll see.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Um, but Brent Venables, you know, he's in what his third year?
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Third year, correct.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Scott extended.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, third year there.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: Um they're just not who and you sprinkle in the entrance into the SEC, which maybe on paper doesn't mean anything, but for like fans' sake and bragging rights, um really tough spot.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: They were handed a really tough, tough schedule, and um they're just in the world.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: They're probably they're probably eight.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're probably an eight and four team in the Big 12.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: No disrespect to the Big 12, but like they probably figure out a way to scrap things together in a different conference.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: So uh so okay, so Oklahoma is the worst case.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: Who's the so for USC or Michigan?
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Who are you?
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: They'll be fine.
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: I think Michigan right now, we all knew that there would be a drop this year.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, that they lost a ton, and it's a new regime completely.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm less worried about them than than anybody else.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: So that's my that's just a simple, quick, easy answer.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: No, actually, I'm I'm agree with you on, I think Michigan is the uh they'll be fine.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: One, they're still running on the high of a national championship.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: They're still the defending national championships, they're not gonna defend it this year, but they still have the hardware installed for life permanently in concrete in Ann Arbor.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: So they got that.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: That two that warm and fuzzy feeling will take you, carry you a long way.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: It lasts a while.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: It lasts a while.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: You know, the Joe Burrow year took me through the COVID year and the 2020 year.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: I so I I had to I was able to ride that high for a while.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, they also uh their head coach, they are paying peanuts too, you know.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: So if this is a thing, if Shrone Moore doesn't work out, and I think I think he deserves a chance, at least another year to put a respectable quarterback under center and see what he can do.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: But if they decide to pivot, they quickly can, and they still command, they are still the commanding top dog or second, second, you know, one beat in Ohio State in the Big Ten.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: So I really agree with you on their fine.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll zag and say USC is in the worst shape.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is year six for Lincoln Riley.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: His buyout is 88 million dollars.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: That is so many dollars, Michael.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: I don't that is a an insane amount.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: And I the defense got seven leg parlays, is that quite a few.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Um, so I I think they're in the biggest trouble.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: And they obviously they their stadium is still miles from campus, their facilities are still lacking, they're um not capable of beating mid-tier Big Ten teams.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I, you know, like long term, five years, 10 years, I'm bullish, but I think they're in for some real pain this year, next year, year after.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: Um, I think they're in the worst thing.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I think Oklahoma can shift gears.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I'm more confident that Venables can replace COC, figure out things offense.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Their offensive line has been is replacing all five guys.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: You know, the good news is they're gonna get five returning starters next year.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: They're so that they'll and they'll have a lot of quality backups, guys who were forced to play when they shouldn't.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Same with all their position skill guys.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Like, I kind of think Oklahoma's gonna have a dead cat bounce next year on offense and be all right.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: USC's problems are more systemic.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know what's going on out there.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm the most negative on them.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Do you think one of the least talked-about consequences of the Big Ten realignment is all of the travel that these teams have to do?
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: Could that be negatively impacting USC?
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: How many times?
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: Have you seen it play out?
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: I yes and no.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I think it's talked about way too much.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: I think it's, you know, I think these guys are, I think these guys are led by talented nutritionists, expert strategists, people who know game film.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: They're pretty experienced doing this.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: I think for some teams, for USC, for Stanford, for Rutgers, for SMU, for Cal, you know, I think they're doing a lot of kind of new unexpected travel, but like, I don't know.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's I don't think it's as dramatic a deal as I talk about.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: And it's brought up at every broadcast, you know, oh, body clock, oh, so many time zones, oh, after the spread, this many time zones.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: I think that's correlation, not causation.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I'm not as bullish on it as other folks are.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: So I just think when you look at USC's specific location, you know, I mean, you couldn't get farther away than going to Ruckers this week.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's tough.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: That's tough.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's it's I'm not saying it's nothing.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: I just don't think I think it's overblown.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: I think it's overstated.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's nothing, though.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: I think it does matter.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: Um we have to get into the autopsy because we are running late.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Week eight, another banger as usual.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: Um some thoughts at you.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: We'll keep it going.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: Cam Ward is awesome.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Miami's number one offense in the country.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: They also defense is really sus, gave up 45 points to Louisville.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Are they they are they the most fraudulent top 10 undefeated team right now?
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: Are they close to Oregon?
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: Are they close to Iowa State?
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: Are they close to number one or number 10?
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Where are you where are you where you got Miami overall?
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: I think I think they're I think they're in the right spot, honestly, because you know, we've seen teams with explosive offenses get carried through.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, eventually you're gonna have to make some stops.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: But um, with the way their schedule is, you know, um, they're electric and you know, every team's flawed.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: We we haven't seen any team that's that's completely dominant on both sides of the football, and they've got their warts, but yeah, I think they were kind of right where they should be on actually.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: I hate their defense.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna cost them a game or two down.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: Well, their secondary is pretty bad.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: I don't know what they it shouldn't.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: They've got talent in every spot.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: I just I don't know why they're I mean, Cam Ward is electric.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: I think right now it's kind of just kind of quick tangent for Heisman.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: I think it's him or Genty, you know, and we'll we'll see what changes in the next month.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: But like I think the two of them have clearly escalated everybody else.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: So, and the number one offense in the country can't beat that ACC, Miami, the U, tons of eyes.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: Like, if that's all great.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: I just their defense is inexcusably giving up too many yards, too many scores, leaving guys uncovered.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know what the story is there, but that I've got real concerns about Miami's defense moving forward.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think what you when you're looking at their potential to win a national championship, I don't like it as much because you do need some defense to do that.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: All it takes is for Cam to have a bad game, one guy to have a bad game, and you get blown out versus like if you're def if you can play defense as a unit, you know, you've got more guys obviously you're relying on.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on, Georgia is back.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: Uh Horns, they couldn't block them.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're talking about the Texas Georgia game.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, that's not the magic I thought this game was gonna be.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: I thought Texas's secondary was actually gonna get exposed.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I thought that that was a potential weakness for them because the quarterbacks they placed prior had been pretty terrible, frankly.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Um, but honestly, it was our offensive line.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: That was a lot, was the thing that uh they couldn't get past.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, Georgia had seven sacks, uh, 10 plus tackles for loss.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: They were pretty much unblockable.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: They gave up 1.1 yards per carry.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, that is Georgia, that is vintage 2021-22 Georgia type game.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: Mike, is there smoke now?
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Last week, a wise man named Mike White, who I'm going to be talking to right now, said for there to be a quarterback controversy, there has to be a problem.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: There's a problem now.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Mike, is there smoke to the highest profile quarterback controversy we've seen in many, many years?
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: Archman and Quinn Ewers.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Tell me what you got.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think so.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: A little bit.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, we we I think I sent you a screenshot, like I don't know when it was, over the weekend.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: It was like their fans reacting, like we win this game if Archmanning starts.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: So that's kind of how it starts.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: And all the time, exactly how it starts.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: Um, a couple of the guys in that locker room to start thinking that way, and you've got distractions, you've got you know, problems.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: So this is a big test for Sarkeesian and the leadership within that locker room.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Um, I definitely think it could become an issue.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah, we've got a controversy.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: We've got to walk up and hit the panic button.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Love it, love it, love it for Texas, love it for us non-Texas fans.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, on the other side of the ball, uh Carson Beck, he's stunk.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: He threw three picks.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Three interceptions, three interceptions.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: He's actually the SEC leader with eight INTs.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: I recognize he's second in touchdowns.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: He's still throwing balls.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: He's third in yards, so he's doing a lot, but he's throwing a lot of picks.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, he was my Heisman, number one quarterback, uh Heisman pick, my number one quarterback drafted pick.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: I was really bullish on him on the preseason.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: He's middle of the pack in terms of completion percentage and his quarterback rating.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: Um, is he even in your top three SEC?
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Just in the conference.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: Like if you were to say your top three SEC quarterbacks, is Beck even top three right now?
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: Uh I think we've seen him play so well in the past.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: Uh, he's gotta be right there at maybe 3-4.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, their offense has who's your one-two.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: Give me like your what do you who's who's in the top for you right now?
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Uh Jackson Dart, maybe Nesmeyer, yeah, maybe the NBA.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, same similar.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I don't know.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: We'll see.
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I think it's their offense as a whole.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: It is has shown some weaknesses.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: Uh the defense continues to look good.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: I also think this game is a little bit of an eye-opener for Texas.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: When you look at their schedule, oh, you know, that Michigan win not looking as good anymore.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: Oklahoma that's not looking so good anymore.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: And you're kind of looking back and you're like, wow, Texas's schedule was much easier than we thought.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Um, they didn't look good against Georgia.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Are how good are they really?
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: And this is the fun thing about college football is like every week we're recalibrating what we think about some of these teams.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: And I think they're just they are they're not they are not immune to that recalibration.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: Nobody is this year.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: Not without, not without the top-tier quarterback play that we've all expected to get from them every week.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: That they didn't get.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: And obviously, Beck could turn it around.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Those guys could could do could do better, but I'm I'm I'm looking at I'm looking at Beck a little sideways that I once was.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: That I don't know if that precinct pick is gonna hold up.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, so obviously the last thing I want to talk about before we move on to this game was the infamous uh uh PI call.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, you saw the the call that was terrible.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: The stands, uh the fans um raided down water bottles onto the field.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: They complained, they actually got the call overturned, which is like the worst precedent ever.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: That's gonna be a story that kind of unfolds.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Kind of we don't need to rehash everybody kind of knows, blah, blah, blah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: Did you happen to see uh Matthew McConaughey's uh statement after the game?
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: So Matthew McConaughey.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: When I read it, I I read it in his voice, which made it even better.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh, we're we're gonna do that.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: So, those of you who don't know, Matthew McConaughey wrote a statement about the incident, uh, talking about his fans to not uh do that.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: And uh, we are bigger than that.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: And so I'm going to give you a reading of this.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: This is not this, I'm just not me going rogue.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: This is a word-for-word verbatim reading of the Matthew McConaughey statement on the Texas, Georgia incident.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Here we go.
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: Longhorn Nation and especially our DKR student section, MOC McConaughey coming at you here.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: First off, you were electric Saturday night when we hosted Georgia.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Bravo! Let's continue to bring it.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: Even though our horns didn't get the W, you create a measurable home field advantage.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: But let's get real about the bottle bombing, the field glitch we had.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Night cool, bogey move.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that call was moved.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: Bogey move.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: My favorite line by far.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that call was BS.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: We're better than that.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: Longhorn Nation knows how to show up, show out, no other, and all things keep our class.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: So let's go forward, keeping that kind of BS and leave that behind us for good.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: We have to shake hands on that.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Next up, November 9th, when the gators come to town.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Let's make sure they feel all the heat.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Can't hear the play calls and burn their time out.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: But remember, nothing hits our field except that Texas fact.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Till then, root hard and hook 'em.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Kinda hey.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: And remember, kids, nothing's cooler than staying in school.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Can we put that?
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: Can we get a pulser for that?
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: That's the greatest statement I've ever heard from a college football fan.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: I couldn't be hiding.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Just reeks of like those old G.I.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: Joe like PSAs.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: I I read that, I couldn't stop laughing.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: I was grinning ear to ear.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: One of my favorite.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Do you think he like do you think he thought a lot about that?
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Like, that's that's not cool enough.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: Like, let me put bogey in there.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: Like, let me swap out some words.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: He's like playing with uh thesaurus.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Um bogey moves an amazing lot.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: He also said we have to shake hands on that as a tweet, like just talking to people about that's how serious it meant.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: Like, you keep your word, your many words, you shake on it.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: I just loved it, I loved everything about it.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Matthew Canahe is an absolute treasure.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: All right, let's move on.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: That's not for that.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: We gotta keep rolling.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: Napier, uh, another nice win.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: You were all over this one.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Beat the brakes off of uh Kentucky.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: If you go six and six, is he off the hot seat?
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Are you keeping him?
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Gators are surging, they're kind of a dangerous team right now.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: They're looking at pretty good, and their schedule is tough, though.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: That's the thing.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: It's like they're gonna if if he if he pulls off one of these big upsets against you know one of these reeling top teams who yeah, Florida State, that that game looks completely different now than it did earlier in the game.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're gonna win that game.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: Florida State stinks, but they've still got Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, LSU.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: If they win one of those, I think maybe he keeps his, I think he keeps his job.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Well, that's what's gonna take.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Because honestly, he's and they're sitting there sitting at four and three now.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm I'm putting I'm penciling in the Florida State game.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: I know it's rivalry.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: Maybe Norvell find something.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I just I don't see it but the win.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: He's got to get one more to get the bowl eligible.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: Uh the cocktail party, which is neutral site at Texas, is gonna be hell.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: I hope my my LSC Tigers get the going.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: We were going to the swap.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then Ole Miss.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: Ole Miss might be looks as as of right now the most gettable.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: That game's also in the swamp.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: But I think he has to get it, and I kind of think he will.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think I think they're too.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: I kind of think they're doing some things right, so they might get back.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: So keep eye on that.
- 35:28SPEAKER_01: Uh quick thoughts.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: Mississippi State is terrible, but I think they figured some things out on offense.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: They lost 24-34 to AM.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Jeff Levy, the head coach, offensive guy from Oklahoma.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: Blake Shapen is done.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: Former Baylor quarterback we liked a lot.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: Michael Van Buren Jr., just a name to remember.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: He's lighting it up.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: He's their new quarterback.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying, I'm not saying anything.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be they're gonna go two and ten this year, but Michael Van Buren Jr.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: is a quarterback to pay attention to.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: Wednesday, UTEP gets a win.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: They are now two winless teams, Kennesaw and Kent State, only two winless teams in the country.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Congratulations to the UTEP.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Those are the minors?
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: The UTEP minors.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: The miners, go miners.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: Michigan.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Um, woof.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: They lost to a bad Illinois team, 21-7.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, did you see the helmets in the uh Michigan, the Illinois game?
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 36:13SPEAKER_02: Those are really cool, actually.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Oh man, I hated them.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: So they the Illinois players.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but they're cool because they're so weird.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: They are so weird.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: So essentially, obviously, uh football play 100 years ago was played with the leather leather helmets.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: The Illinois uh team they drew leather helmets onto the design, so it looked like they were wearing them with their old school uniforms.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I thought they were cool from like a spectacle standpoint, but don't ever bring those out ever again.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: It's just a bad Illinois team.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: Illinois's plucky, they're good.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: They are plucky.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: They won by two touchdowns.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: And honestly, they played terribly, they should have won by a lot more.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Speaking of which, Michigan, wolf, terrible.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: They're also four and three, and they've got one gimme win, I think, versus Northwestern at home.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: They've got three, what I think are sure losses.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: Oregon and Ohio State, they they're they're they there's no way they win those games.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: No, at Indiana, if Curtis Rourke is back.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: I don't think that's a winner either.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: In fact, even without probably a win.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: Are they bowling?
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: They have to get Michigan State and uh Northwestern.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: Are is Michigan going to a bowl this year?
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're gonna win those two.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: Uh K-Stushes uh West Virginia in Morgantown.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Two takeaways for me in this one.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: Uh Neil Brown is cooked.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: He got a nice bounce back last year.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: He was everyone's favorite to be on the hot seat first fire last year.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: West Virginia now nights bounce back.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: I think that good fortune has worn off.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Number two, Avery Johnson, who we all knew is an outstanding running quarterback for Kansas State, um, has really developed his vertical passing game.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: And it's something else.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: If K-State has a quarterback that can run and pass and that defense and that coaching, they're really, really, really good.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: So K-State seems to be surging.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Any West Virginia K-State takes?
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: No, he nailed it.
- 37:50SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: Uh Travis Hunter.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: Travis Hunter uh set out the second half.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: They blew out Arizona, one of our bets that paid us.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: Cha-ching, love that.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: Um, good for the buffs.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Travis Hunter Heisman run is probably over.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: His the whole thing about Travis Hunter was he was so unprecedented that he was playing on both sides of the ball and playing at a high level both sides of the ball.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: If he's hurt and sitting out halves and is not on the field, his unprecedented run becomes a little bit more pedestrian.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: And I think he's which is why you don't do it.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: That's the whole point.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you idiots.
- 38:23SPEAKER_02: You can't do it.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: It's just you can't play a kid, you know, 60 snaps on one side and another 70 on the other.
- 38:32SPEAKER_02: The guy doesn't come off the field.
- 38:34SPEAKER_02: They're not machines, they're not football robots that you get hurt.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I I hate that.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: I mean it's said this early in the season.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it played out pretty much exactly we they are who we thought they were.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: Um I just think his hydman runs over.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: I still think he's a top three pick.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: He might be number one to like the Patriots or something, given his yeah uh flexibility.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: He's just he's not gonna win the highest.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: He's a fantastic player.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I hope he still gets invited to New York.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: He still might be able to do that.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: That would be cool.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: Um, what's worse?
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: Florida State losing to Duke for the first time ever, 23 attempts ever.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: Ever, ever.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: You heard that again.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Duke has never beaten Florida State in football this year, or Duke not even rushing the field when they did it.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: What's what if you're a Florida State fan, which one stings more?
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Well, here's the thing.
- 39:17SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 39:17SPEAKER_02: I don't, I don't, I don't, I think the history of that monumental win was lost on a lot of the Duke fans.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: What they see in front of them is a garbage Florida State team, and you don't rush the field against a garbage team.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: So I get it, I wouldn't have done it, but is it something to be celebrated?
- 39:33SPEAKER_02: Another like little notch, you know, cross that out.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: They don't have that over us anymore.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: Duke is six and one.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: They're good.
- 39:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, well, relatively good.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, all right, move on to the homers.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, Virginia Tech, really nice win against Boston College, 42-21.
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: Tootin had a career day, 18 for 266 yards with three touchdowns.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: Drones made some plays, 40 to 18, 164, one touchdown, one pick, rush for 40 and two more touchdowns.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech's rushing attack, 370 total yards.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: They are just running everybody.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: Did get a little hairy.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: They were up 28-0 at half, 28-21, late third, and they pulled away at the end.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Here's my question for you for Virginia Tech, which what we're focusing on for the homer section.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: The thing holding Tech back, and I kind of think it's similar to um Tennessee in some respects, which we'll talk about in a minute.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Um, the deep ball stuff.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: He's missing on deep balls.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Drones can do a lot of things with his legs, much like Nico.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: I'm seeing him miss guys that were open.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: You know, they I mean balls that were catchable, balls where they were good, they would have been catchable, balls that were perfect would have been 80-yard touchdowns.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: Is is drones' deep ball inaccuracy the thing holding this offense back?
- 40:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I don't think it's just his deep ball inaccuracy.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: I think it's his accuracy overall.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Jones is not an accurate passer.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: He's never been an accurate passer.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: He's great with his legs, he's dynamic, he's explosive, um, and he can he can flash, but he's just not an accurate passer.
- 40:57SPEAKER_02: It's not who he is.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: So you've got to find a way to win without it.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Now, to be fair, he did his stat line last week was 14 for 18, which is pretty good accuracy, but you have to know that the depth of target was like five yards or less.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: A lot of them were behind the line of scrimmage balls, screen passes, tunnel screens, yeah, shovel passes, just not pushing the ball down the field.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: I think if they have I think if they're gonna have a shot against Clemson in two weeks, it's gotta be drones hitting some of those balls.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: He can't be hitting one of every 12.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: He's gotta hit one of every four, every three.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's gonna have to play a little um over his head, to be frank.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA got crushed at Clemson, couldn't run, 23 rushes, 68 yards.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: Kind of can't we expected.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: Calandry got benched, musket got two garbage touchdowns.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: They got it back to recover.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: Congratulations if you bet on UVA plus 21.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: Um, on to UNC.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: I got nothing for this game.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: It's just was exactly it happened.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: It happened.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: It was obviously uh yeah, what we all thought.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: Any UVA Clemson thoughts?
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, at one point it was 38-10.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, Clemson's got a lot of guys in there getting some extra playing time.
- 41:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's exactly what we thought.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: Yep, correct.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: All right, let's give that to our teams.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, dude, congratulations on the win.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, Master, we're talking about Thursday, Saturday in October.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna let you talk about.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: I kind of have three while you open, I have three thoughts for you.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: You but you hit us with ours first.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, Nealand Stadium just out of its mind.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: Election one of the best atmospheres in college football.
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: That was amazing to watch.
- 42:19SPEAKER_02: The defense, this this Tennessee defense is one of the best in college football.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: Full stop, keeping you in every game.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Um, they threw it uh Ryan Williams 19 times.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: He ended up with like seven catches for that was one of my three thoughts.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, they forced turnovers, they forced a ton of pressures, they got three sacks.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: Milro only had um a couple dozen rushing yards.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: They they bobbled him up.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: Defense did everything.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, offense for the for the Vols just just showed showed some growth um in the second half, continued to leak lean on Dylan Sampson.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: We are so close to the the top coming off this this offense and looking really, really good.
- 43:02SPEAKER_02: And that's gonna be scary, but um, yeah, it was a great, great win.
- 43:06SPEAKER_02: Um, loved what the Vols did, especially on defense, and showed some life on offense.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: Um, what the potential could be.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: So, my three thoughts.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: One was the Ryan Williams thing, 18 targets for uh eight catches, 73 yards, and a touchdown.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: I don't think they have really a second trick right now.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: It kind of seems like that kind of meme eff it, he's down there somewhere, just hook it up and throw it.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: Um, you had to be holding your breath a little bit every time you saw them throw the ball to Ryan Williams, just given my breath the whole game.
- 43:32SPEAKER_02: It was back and forth.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, this is ridiculous.
- 43:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, the balls did not play well in the first half on offense, just abysmal.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: And the defense still kept them in it.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: And then the second half was a lot of back and forth.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: But when when the balls got the that final lead, you just knew that was that was it game over.
- 43:49SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Second thought.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Uh Brian, uh sorry, uh Heipel made some comments about uh the offensive line earlier in the week, and it was like four of the five guys, and I don't remember exactly what the verbiage I'm I'm hoping you know, I'm probably you caught it and know what I'm talking about.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: But he was like four of the five linemen have accepted the challenge and are playing up to a level.
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: It sounded like kind of between the things on Twitter, between the reading between the lines on Twitter, they were uh kind of uh picking on Lance Heard a little bit.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: Do you know what that's about?
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Can you tell me what can you give me some context there?
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: Well, he's taken the Heard's taking a lot of criticism.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Um, he's still very young in his career and he's been battling injuries.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: He was out this season for a couple games, he was out preseason.
- 44:27SPEAKER_02: Um, and he only got a handful of snaps at um at LSU.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: So he's really he's probably a little a little out of shape.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: He's still swimming a little bit.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: You know how hard it is to be a young offensive lineman.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Um Um and yeah, the offensive line has really struggled the last couple weeks.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: So they've been challenged both behind closed doors and publicly by all of the media.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I and I think um they played a much better game, especially in the second half.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: They pushed people around on the on the line of scrimmage, and um Nico had some time to deliver some balls, and he missed quite a few, but he he hit on a couple when it mattered, and uh offensive line stepped up big time.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: I don't know specifically what that was in reference to, but they I know that they've they've really been under the gun.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: So yep, that's what that's what it sounded like.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: And what you said was was more expecting.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: My third thought was um the Nico deep balls thing.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, he hit enough to get the win.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: That's all that matters.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: You win, you matter, you play you win to play the game.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: And uh Nico did enough to do that.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: Um, the deep ball touch and he had some guys wide open.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: I mean, that was the thing.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: He had some guys running open.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: If you continue to do that, he's gonna hit on more and more.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and there's no doubt the the talent that he has, he's just young.
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: He's getting it, he's getting better.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Nutsmeyer is a similar story.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: He throws a lot of deep balls at Justmas as well as kind of thing of uh you know, the another longer offseason.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: Um, I saw a nice Twitter uh thread of the same thing as the last week.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: It was like six or seven Nico balls that were like the guy was open, or he was a little bit open, or just like a wide open miss.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: Like just if you connect on those 40-yard games, 70 yard games.
- 45:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we could have the opportunity was there for that game to be at like a 45 to 20 game.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: Exactly, exactly.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: So still bullish on really Nico.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: It's just that is clearly the thing, I think.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Like, especially first because the way the way Hypo runs it off and Dylan Sampson is the absolute man, one of the best running backs in the country, just a jackpot.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: Right there with people and he sets up Nico so well for those shots because when you start bringing those safeties down, which is what they want, and I think this is what Hypo wants to do is run the Begisa out of the ball, punish um the front seven, make the secondary, commit to helping, and then bang, over the top he hits them with which is what they do, which is what which is what Hooker and Tillman and Hyatt did so well two years ago.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: So it feels like it's just another week or two, maybe it's maybe it's a month or two.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we got an off week, and then Kentucky.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: I I wouldn't be surprised if the offense just put up some really good numbers against a pretty good Kentucky defense.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think we were a little early on anointing him, but I think it's clearly to see why people are excited and clear to see that I think a continued growth's happening.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: Moving on.
- 47:02SPEAKER_01: Uh LSU, trap game narrative, never had a chance.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: We were just better.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: Uh uh defense finally getting some real love.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, minimal subs.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: We've pretty much settled on every position, which is nice.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: We were interchanging a lot of guys.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Major Burns moving from safety, where he's out in space and not great, moving to the star, which is the hybrid linebacker safety spot around the line a lot more, has really, really been great.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Um, Zy Alexander has has really proven to be one of the better cornerbacks in the SEC.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: Wit weeks is the the sophomore linebacker.
- 47:31SPEAKER_01: They're calling him the honky badger, uh, because he's a white playmaker at uh LSU.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: I hate it.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: I don't love it either.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: I hate it.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: Um but I love him, he's amazing.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and the defense is really, really gotten better.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: I was something I was on five weeks ago before, but it seems like the media has really caught up.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: And the LSU defense didn't give them a chance.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: They put that pressure on him constantly.
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: Talon Green couldn't scramble very much.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: Um, and that was that was that.
- 47:55SPEAKER_01: On the other side of the ball, Arkansas, uh, they were known for pressure and no sacks again.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: Um, here's a here's a fun fact for you, or a fun question for you.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: LSU is number two in the country in sacks allowed.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: We've given up two sacks the entire season, which is just unbelievable.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: And guess who?
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Army's number one.
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: They've given up one.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: They've given up one.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: And we're probably never gonna beat them.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: I knew where you were going back before you even got there.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Bryson Daly is has only been sacked once on the ball.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: They don't pass.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: They don't pass the ball, so it's not really fair.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: We throw the ball a million times.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: So uh Army's probably gonna probably has the best Tennessee might have the best defensive line in the country.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: LSU has the best offensive line in the country.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: But they can't run the ball for some.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: We can't run the ball.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Although that got better.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Caden Durham did get did get about 100 on the ground.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: We're that's starting to come along as well.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Really, it's just our offensive tackles are just absolutely and let's give um Garrett Nutsmark some credit.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: He's gotten really, really good at climbing the pocket, finding guys, like doing that.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Um, so he's really developed as well.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: So that's great.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: All right, it is time to get into week nine.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: We are behind schedule.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: We're gonna do this.
- 48:56SPEAKER_01: Let's give the people what they want, Mike.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: They want to make some money.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: They want the money.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: They want the they want the monies.
- 49:01SPEAKER_01: Um, I got a bunch of games.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: We're gonna run through them.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: You know, give me a pick, we'll agree, or we'll stay away.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: Same drill.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: Thursday, Syracuse number 19 at number 19.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Pitt pit is minus six over under 61 and a half points.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously, Pitt is undefeated.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: Uh Syracuse is almost undefeated.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: They had a tough loss to Stanford early in the year, but they seem really solid as well.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: I don't really have a read on this.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: 61 and a half seems kind of high.
- 49:23SPEAKER_01: Anything for Syracuse Pitt.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: I was kind of leaning Syracuse.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: Um, I still think Pitt is way, yeah, way, way sus.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: Um, I think I think Syracuse has the better offense, but um, yeah, I mean, if I had to take it, if I had to take it, I'd take Syracuse to cover that.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: Syracuse plus six.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: I can I think I agree as well.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: Let's go ahead and do that.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's get let's get a Thursday early leg Syracuse plus six.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Um, Friday, number 17, Boise State.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: This is a straight heater game.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: It's kind of a bummer starting at 10:30 at night.
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: Boise's number 17 Boise State, minus two and a half at UNLV.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: This is a playoff elimination game.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: These are arguably two of the best, better top four, top five G five teams.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Over-under is 65 and a half.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: So they're calling for some offense.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Has Malie Williams, UNLV quarterback, is in revelation.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Since Matt Saluka, the whole transfer weird deal situation throughout.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: Um, and Boise State.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: Here's a fun fact from Boise State.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: I kind of gave it away.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Who do you think is leading the nation in Sacks?
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Boise State.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Boise State.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: Damn it.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, 29.
- 50:25SPEAKER_01: They are number one in the country.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: So obviously, all the talk is about Maddox Madsen, the quarterback, and Ash and Jenji, the best running back in the country, maybe like really, really probably gonna make a run to Heisman.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: But their defense has this attacking turnover, make things happen.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: They're leading the country in sacks, it was 29.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: Um, I know they're on the road.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: I got Boise minus two and a half rolling in there, covering good quarterback, good, great, great running back, and an attacking defense that will make this game weird.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking like pick six, fumble scoop, and score, something along those lines.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Um, and uh give me Boise to cover.
- 51:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like Boise to cover here.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: I think they're the more complete team.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: Uh I think this is kind of one more step in the right direction to prove that they're legit.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: Uh I do think that they're they're they're semi-legit, like a playoff team.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: The UNLV, not quite there.
- 51:14SPEAKER_02: I just yeah, give me Boise State to cover.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: All right, sounds good.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: All right, moving on.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: We've got um on Saturday, number 12 Notre Dame, minus 11 and a half versus number 24 Navy at Met Life Stadium, which is home of the Jets and Giants, over under 52 and a half, which that seems high for two team led by a defense and a triple option-ish flexbone attack.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: Any Notre Dame uh Navy takes.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: This is a tough one for me.
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: Um, because looking at the spread, I wish that this was Notre Dame versus Army.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: I would take Notre Dame versus Army with a 12-point spread for Notre Dame.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: I take Army all day on that, but I'm not that bullish.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: I'm not as bullish on Navy.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: So um I don't know how this is game is gonna go.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: I can talk into the under 52 and a half.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: They can score that many points on those two offenses.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Do you like do you like the over-under at all?
- 52:03SPEAKER_02: I could I could go under.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: I could go under.
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: Um, if Notre Dame holds up their part on D.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: Um, I think this is a pretty good matchup for their secondary.
- 52:11SPEAKER_02: So yeah, you could convince me on the under.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: I just think Navy has to shorten this game to win it.
- 52:15SPEAKER_01: There's no way they're gonna like go tote they're gonna do a track meet and honestly not even built for that.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: And neither is Notre Dame.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame wants to run the ball anyway and kind of pound him out anyway.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: So I got under all over this game.
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: Can we want to do the under on this one?
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: I'll take it.
- 52:29SPEAKER_02: I'm leaning on you.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: Lean on the under.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: Um, we have to bet every game.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: We're just gonna we're gonna we're gonna just gonna do much as we can.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, game day, uh UW at in number 13, Indiana.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, Indiana's minus six and a half, over under is 52 and a half.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: No roar, no courtish Kurdish Rourke for this game, which really makes me feel like this is kind of a stay away.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Um, but also uh half of this team was from JMU.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: JMU had game day last year be undefeated, and they lost to App State.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and when game day went to Harrisburg, Virginia.
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: So maybe all Kirk Signetti and the old JMU players are like, we got game day back, we can't lose again.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: That's kind of a silly storyline.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know if they exist.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: There's 13 JMU changes on that team.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: The game day effect, I don't know.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: I'm my general leaning is stay away, but do you love anything on the UW Indiana game?
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: No, when I first saw that, I was all over Indiana.
- 53:16SPEAKER_02: And then finding out that you know quarterback's out of game.
- 53:19SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, I I still think they I still think they wouldn't cover, but yeah, I I agree it's probably a stay away.
- 53:25SPEAKER_01: All right, let's look, yeah.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna unofficially pick uh Indy Indiana Indiana.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, I'd take Indiana, but if I had to, but for for the for the for the for the parlay, let's skip it.
- 53:35SPEAKER_01: Uh number 20, Illinois at number one, Oregon.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Oregon's giving away 25.
- 53:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's up to 25 now.
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: Good grief.
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: Or no, maybe well, that's what it was when I wrote it.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: So maybe it's maybe that maybe it's not.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was 25 to 21.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: So folks are pounding so folks are pounding Illinois plus 21.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: Illinois could Illinois has never seen the caliber of athletes.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: Well, it's not really true.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: They played Penn State.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: Um, you you talk first.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, minus 21 in outson, 54 and a half.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, what do you think?
- 54:05SPEAKER_02: That's a lot of points.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: I could see Oregon covering, I could see it being a closer game, but I don't think it's ever gonna be more than you know.
- 54:11SPEAKER_02: I think I think Oregon wins by a couple scores.
- 54:13SPEAKER_02: So we're talking about the difference of does Oregon completely blow them out, or does Illinois get a late touchdown to make it a you know 17-point win?
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: I think Lou Almeyer is pretty good.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm obviously he's had some he's been bad at spots, and I think and I really I love Zakari Franklin, the uh UTSA transfer, the wide receiver.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: I think he's a playmaker as well.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Um, this seems like uh Illinois's gonna try and slow it down.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: Brett Bilama likes to do that with his teams.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: I got Illinois plus 21 here.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: What do you can you get on board with that or do you want to lay off?
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: I can get on board with that.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like I said, I mean I I don't really see Oregon just running away with it just because you know it's a Bilama coach team.
- 54:49SPEAKER_02: They're they're they're gonna be pretty sound.
- 54:51SPEAKER_02: Um, and even if it's on that edge, like I said, I think Illinois gets a late score to cover to get that backdoor cover, like you said.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: Number 11, BYU, minus one and a half.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: Needed a one-minute 75-yard touchdown to beat Oklahoma State last week.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: Remember that at UCF, 55 and a half, so calling a point.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: Why is BYU a one and a half point favorite against UCF, which has not been great?
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: They've lost oh, they're dogs now.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: They are excuse me, they are dogs.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: Sorry, BYU is plus one and a half now going on the road.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: Are we taking BYU?
- 55:22SPEAKER_02: Because I don't understand this line at all.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, I don't understand that line either.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: So all the money has moved.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: So UCF replaced their quarterback.
- 55:27SPEAKER_01: KJ Jefferson has got bench and the other guys much faster.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: So I think they're doing more things with Gus Malzan.
- 55:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I was actually gonna go the other way.
- 55:34SPEAKER_01: I think I like I kind of like UCF in the spot.
- 55:36SPEAKER_01: They're playing him at UCF too.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: This is a kind of game where you Gus Malzan knows he is playing inferior athletes BYU.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: No disrespect to the Mormons, Church of Gladaday Saints, you guys are all great, wonderful people, but I just don't think they have the speed.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: And I think this game is being played in Florida.
- 55:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I, you know, I mean, BY is undefeated, I get that, but the fact that money has moved so much in favor of BY and UCF, and the the new quarterback seems to have their offense playing a whole lot.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: Casey Jefferson can't move, he's slow as tar.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: This new guy's a whole lot faster.
- 56:07SPEAKER_01: I like UCF to win this game.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: Um, I still don't trust BYU at all.
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: Let's be clear.
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: But this is a stay away game for me.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: We'll say we'll stay away.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: We'll stay away.
- 56:17SPEAKER_01: Number five, Texas, uh uh minus 18 at number 25, Vandy, 53 and a half points.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: Uh Texas hangover spot, snapback, Vandy, biggest game in maybe their history of their team.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: Um since three weeks ago.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: Since three weeks ago.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: Um Vanderbilt's capable of doing this.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: We saw that we saw it happen to Alabama.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: Um, although I'm not sure Alabama's on Texas's level.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: Um two and eight.
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: Texas wins this game.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: Texas wins Texas wins the game, obviously.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: Do they win by three touchdowns?
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: But do they win by three touchdowns?
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: You're saying yes?
- 56:50SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 56:51SPEAKER_02: I'm asking you.
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: This is not one I would pick.
- 56:56SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Texas wins.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: I think Texas covers.
- 57:00SPEAKER_02: Ah, no, I don't.
- 57:01SPEAKER_02: Vandy.
- 57:03SPEAKER_01: Give me give me Vandy to keep it close.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Vandy keeps it close.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: All right, we're doing Vanny plus 18.
- 57:08SPEAKER_01: I agree with you.
- 57:08SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: Um who's next?
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, number 21, Missouri at number 15, Alabama.
- 57:14SPEAKER_01: Alabama's only a two touchdown favorite.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: Mine is 13 and a half.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: Um, Alabama's broken on offense.
- 57:19SPEAKER_01: They can do one thing with the Ryan Williams.
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: Justice Haynes and Jam Miller are mediocre by Alabama standards running backs.
- 57:26SPEAKER_01: Any of the last 20 backs I'd rather have if I was Alabama than those guys, they are not effective.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: Also, what's the line is not effective.
- 57:32SPEAKER_01: But I'm also really critical of Missouri.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, they needed a hospital trip miracle, Brady Cook coming back to beat a bad Auburn team at home.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: Um this screams stay away to me, but if you feel strong, I'm listening.
- 57:49SPEAKER_02: No, I have no idea what to expect about this game.
- 57:51SPEAKER_02: Um, I would take Bama.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: Um, and you know, Bama's gonna win.
- 57:56SPEAKER_02: Um, whether they find their offense and hit a couple of those big plays, they could run away with it, but I haven't seen enough from them to know.
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: Missouri's got a pretty good D.
- 58:04SPEAKER_02: Don't really trust their offense going into Bryant Denny.
- 58:06SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, um, this is definitely a stay away from me.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: Okay, we're gonna we're we're gonna get off it.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: I think Alabama wins in coverage, but I don't know if I don't know if they're gonna do that or not.
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: Number three, Penn State, uh, six minus six and a half at Wisconsin, who looked really bad early season against USC and got the brakes beaten off by Alabama.
- 58:23SPEAKER_01: Has won three in a row.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: Tyler Van Dyke is bad.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: He's hurt, he's out of the air.
- 58:27SPEAKER_01: That was one of my worst takes.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: Remember when I remember when I said Tyler Van Dyke was gonna win the Heisman?
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: Believe it or not, that did not happen.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: Uh Brendan Locke has been better, and Wisconsin is solid.
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: 47 and a half points is kind of low for this game.
- 58:39SPEAKER_01: This is this has Big Ten slobber knocker written all over it.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think Camp Randall is going to be loud.
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: Um, I think they're going to both teams are going to pound the ball a lot.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know if Wisconsin covers, but the over-under is 48.
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: I love the under of this game.
- 58:55SPEAKER_01: I got I got Big Ten, three yards in a cloud of dust, cold, methodical, 17 punts.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: Give me the under on this Wisconsin-Penn State game.
- 59:04SPEAKER_02: I like Penn State to hit a couple big plays and cover.
- 59:07SPEAKER_02: I like Penn State to win and cover.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: I think their offense is more explosive.
- 59:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't know if if Wisconsin can hang around if if they if they get pounded and then Jewel R hits a couple of those over the top.
- 59:19SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Camp Randall gets quiet and Penn State wins and covers.
- 59:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know about the over-under.
- 59:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, you'll have to convince me on that one.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: Well, just so so if even if that happens, let's say that happens.
- 59:28SPEAKER_01: If that happens, that means they've shut down Wisconsin.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: So fine.
- 59:31SPEAKER_01: Maybe they win 35 to 7.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: That's still the under.
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: I think the under is.
- 59:34SPEAKER_01: Penn State covers and hits the under.
- 59:35SPEAKER_01: No, we can't we can't do both.
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: We can't that that cannibalizes.
- 59:38SPEAKER_01: Do you feel stronger at Penn about Penn State covering or stronger about the under?
- 59:43SPEAKER_02: Penn State covering.
- 59:44SPEAKER_01: All right, final rod with you.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: Penn State minus six and a half.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: Let's do it.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, who's next?
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: Uh Cincy at Colorado.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Colorado minus four and a half, over 57.5.
- 59:52SPEAKER_01: Both teams, five and two.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: I was way way wrong about Cincinnati.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: Scott Satterfield, but better coding job, I thought.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: Brendan Soresby, solid quarterback.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: Corey Kiner, former LSU running back.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: They're all been pretty good.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: However, Colorado is not messing around, and they've paid us twice.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_01: Both parlays have Colorado in there.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say that.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: We're on Colorado.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_02: We're on Colorado.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: The spread has moved from minus four and a half to minus five and a half.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: So the smarter people in the room love Colorado as well.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking Colorado wins in covers, minus five and a half.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: I take Colorado to win if we start.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_02: A lot of these a lot of these I've been on the fence about.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_02: This one's a no-brainer for me.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Scobs.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Good stuff.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: Michigan State at Michigan.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: This is Michigan's fight for the season.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: Michigan is minus five.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_01: Over under, it's 40 and a half.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: That is a low.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: Um, 40 points is a low total for these teams.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Um, that was that was my actually 40.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_01: Um, Michigan State's getting three and a half.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_01: So money has come in on the under and Michigan State since I wrote this down.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: Um Aiden Charles is a good quarterback, getting better.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: John Smith is a good coach.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_01: Some things are cooking.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: This is a rivalry game.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_01: Um, I got no strong feeling.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_02: Uh, I mean, if if we're talking for the pod, I take Michigan to to win and cover.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_02: Um, laying money.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, stay away from me.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_01: We'll stay away.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: I hate, I hate I hate bet back.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: I don't want to I don't want to bet on Michigan ever again until I see a new quarterback on that team.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: I just don't want to have to rely on that offense for anything.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_01: All right, we'll stay away from Michigan, Michigan State.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_01: Will be a fun game to watch.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: Florida State at number six, Miami.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_01: Miami is 21 points, uh, over under 54 and a half.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think Florida State is a shell of itself.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: This game is at Miami, although there'll be plenty of Florida State fans, and nobody goes to Hard Rock Stadium anyway.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: Um, it's just a question of like, does Miami want to cover?
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_01: Do they want to cover against this team?
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: And I don't actually know.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: Um, do you got any Miami Florida State cover takes?
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: Um, if I had to bet on it, I would take Miami to cover.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_02: But I don't have to, so I'm not.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: I kind of want to take Miami to cover.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: If you want to do it and we're in agreement, let's do it.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_01: All right, we'll just do it.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: Miami to cover, my 21 to cover.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_01: Uh uh SMU, number 22, SMU minus 11 at Duke.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: Duke is six and one, and their game is at uh Durham.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_01: I love SMU.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_01: I love what Kevin Jennings is doing.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: I love that often.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_01: Rhett Lashley, they are murdering people.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_01: The BYU loss, which looked really bad at the time, actually looks pretty darn good now.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_01: They're undefeated.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_01: Um, and SMU has been tearing folks up.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: I got SMU by a mile.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: I think they're going to be rakes off of Duke's.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Um, any pushback on that one?
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_02: No, I think Duke has had a nice little season or a nice story, but um, they cannot hang with what SMU can do right now.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_02: And I agree with you.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_02: All right, good stuff for adding this.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: We're gonna make a pile.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Maybe too many.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: We're up to nine legs.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: We're up to live nine legs.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: It's too much, too much.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, we'll we'll we'll only have three more three more games left to talk about.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_01: Um uh wait, does Tennessee off this week?
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, it's okay.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: Three games to talk about.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, we can't bet on this anyway, but we'll talk about it quickly.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech minus 10, over under is 51 and a half.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: Um, Georgia Tech is a nice story.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_01: I think their quarterback Haynes Kane is still hurt.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_01: I'm not really sure about that.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: And Virginia Tech seems to be hitting the stride.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: They've looked impressive three games in a row now.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: I'm including the Miami loss.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: They've they've loved they've seemed like they found something.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: Stanford and BYU and Boston College, excuse me, they took care of business.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: I got Virginia Tech at home covering being Georgia Tech soundly.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: Same.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: Uh UNC at UVA, UVA minus five.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: That's it's a good sign for UVA that Vegas seems to like them a little bit.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: 59 and a half, they're calling for some points.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: So if I was actually if I could bet on this game, I would take UVA with confidence.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: I think UNC's business is terrible, and 59 and a half is a solid over.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: So if you're out of the state of Virginia, go ahead and pound that one.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: But do you have anything?
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm taking UVA for sure.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: UNC is just garbage, straight up garbage.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_02: And UVA, while has is not one of the best teams in the conference, they're still solid, they've still shown some life.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: They can do some, they can do some good things.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I'll I'll take UVA on that.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: Easy.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_01: This is also the only game the rest of the way that UVA will be favored in.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_01: There could be dogs in all of them.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_01: This is a this is a very, very important fifth win.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_01: It is vital that UVA gets to a bowl this year to get the trend going the right way.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_01: This is a must win, gotta have it.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: Everybody in that locker room knows that.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_01: I think they get it down UVA.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: All right, last one.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: LSU minus eight.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_01: This game should be the game day game.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: It's by far the best game.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: Sorry, LSU number eight at Texas AM, number 14.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: Um, this line has moved a bit.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what it is right now.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: Let me check right now because I'm not even sure.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is the game of the weekend for me.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, you we've got the two uh top teams in the SEC by conference wins and losses.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: Undefeated conference, love that they're both undefeated.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_02: You're going into Kyle Field.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_02: This one is a complete mystery to me.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_02: To me, this is a pick'em, could go either way.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: Um Texas AM at home is tough.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_02: If I had to lean, if if you're if I'm looking at these two teams without seeing that purple and gold, um, I'd take AM to win, honestly.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_02: But um, I'm a little biased, obviously.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_02: You know, obviously, I can't do that.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: So this is probably gonna be a stay away game, which is okay.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I would I would be fine with a stay away game.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_02: Um, I I can roll with you on LSU, but I do think it's a pick of game.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be it's gonna be a good one, man.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a lot of back and forth.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: I think it really could go either way.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: All right, let's stay away from that one.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_01: This parlay is big enough as is.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_01: We've already got nine legs in, so let's go ahead and we're gonna go ahead and stay away.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_01: I think LSU is gonna win, but like don't listen to me.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_01: I'm an L SU fan.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_02: Of course, I'm gonna give me your give me your quick, give me your quick advantage, LSU.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: Uh we are very well coached, and our pass protection has been outstanding.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: Um, I think we've also been gotten much, much better against the run.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_01: Um, Le'Veon Moss, their running back, is really good.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_01: I think he's one of the behind Samson, he's one of the better backs in the SEC, and he's averaging a lot of yards.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_01: I think we're gonna be really good at doing that.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: Um, I also I think Mike Elko is a really good coach.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think they're not gonna make a lot of mistakes.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_01: Connor Wagman, for us to swing this game, Connor Wagman has multiple in his last seven starts, he's had multiple, multiple, multiple, multiple INT games in his career.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_01: So he's had two or more NTs multiple times.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_01: This is the kind of game where I think that's gonna happen.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna turn the table for LSU.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_01: I think Garrett Nussmeyer is gonna do what he does.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: LSU has playmakers on the outside for days.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_01: And I think that's gonna be true here.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_01: I really like that.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: Running ball is gonna be really tough.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: I'm worried about that.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think I think we're gonna get some turnovers, and I think our defense is going to continue to get better because it has literally every week for six weeks, including Ole Miss and Arkansas.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_01: Teams that are pretty good and we've uh gotten better.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: So I think this defense is still getting better.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_01: I think his directory is still going up.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_01: I think AM got a really good rushing attack, but I think the quarterback is super flawed.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: So my general takeaway is that we are going to pick him off a couple times and we are going to control the game.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get a win.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_01: Go Tigers, but we shouldn't bet on it because uh I'm scared.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: I could be wrong.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: All right, that's enough.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_01: All right, so this we've got a nine nine-leg parlay.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: Boise State minus three, Syracuse plus five and a half, the under on Notre Dame Navy 52, Illinois plus 21, Vanderbilt plus 18 and a half, Penn State minus six and a half, Colorado minus five and a half, my Miami minus twenty and a half, SMU minus twelve, nine-leg parlay ten dollars to win you three thousand four hundred and seventeen dollars.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: Woo! So I'm excited for that.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_01: That is a that'd be that is a monster payday.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_01: That's a doozy, man.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_01: That's a doozy.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_01: That's a doozy.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_01: That is a doozy.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, so those are your picks.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_01: That's your parlay.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: Uh it's weird.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: 1023.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_01: I know we've got to get out of here.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_01: Um, uh, that's all I got.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_01: Any um other things you want to say, share, anything for the good order for you?
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, another fantastic week of college football coming at you sooner rather than later, kicking off Thursday night with a good one.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_01: Thursday and Friday night.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_01: Make sure you uh stay play Friday night.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_01: See, I think you're probably looking at your G5 playoff team if it wins that game.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: So that'd be a really great game as well.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_01: Thank you to Matthew McConaughey for being Matthew McConaughey.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_01: You're just my favorite Texas fans who ever lived.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: You just yeah, just joining us on the pod.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_01: Really, really grateful for who you are.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: I'm just that's wonderful stuff.

- 1:08:32SPEAKER_01: And give us a pat on the back.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_01: Uh that's all I got.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_01: All right, y'all.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_01: Take you later.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_01: I tried to say deuces.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: I think I said shees.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: Even better.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: Even better.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: Sheesh's.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_00: Sheesh's.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: Sheesh's and she shafts.

- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: Hallelujah.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: Go.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_03: Go.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_03: Hey, Halliewood.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_03: Hey, Halliewood.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_01: Can't wait.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_03: Go.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_01: Good for you.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_01: Have a good night.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_01: Relieved of duty.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_01: Here's all the children.
